Starting point is 00:02:52 859-280-2287. We're doing first-time callers. I see Jay Rock. You can't put him on. Right? Well, yeah, he didn't. Yeah, Ian answered. He didn't know that he was a not a first time. So I'm sorry, Jayrock.
Starting point is 00:03:03 This is just first time caller. Jay Rock just hang up. Or you can hang up on him, Shannon. We'll hang up on him. All right. And in Roscoe, isn't he a caller before? Rossco, I think, has called your post game show, but never the morning show. Okay, I'll let him do it. I think we should allow that. Jay Rock, you have to go. I'm sorry. Like, we're not going to let you on.
Starting point is 00:03:22 It's first time callers today. And Ian, by the way, is filling in. He's worked here a long time. And Ian, this will be his first time doing KS. are tomorrow. So the dunk was dirt minifield to Sam Bowie. Yeah, a guy texted me.
Starting point is 00:03:37 He said he was there and he says one of the last times he's ever heard Rup Arena. That's interesting. I don't think I know that I've ever seen that dunk. Somebody just sent it to me. I guess I'll watch it in a minute. One person writes and goes, Matt, there was a girl at my high school. I'm 37.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Her name was Helen. And even then she went by Ellie because she thought Helen was an old woman's name. Well, she would be correct. It is. I was thinking about all, I have three grandmothers that I was close to, and their names were Helen, Clara, and Margaret. Do people, are people named any of those names anymore?
Starting point is 00:04:15 You got the whole Andy Griffith show cast there. Well, I'm not. That's true. Wait a minute. I had Clara, what was Claire? It was Helen Crump. Yeah. Clara was Aunt B's friend.
Starting point is 00:04:28 right? Yeah. And I don't think there was a Margaret. Is there anyone under 50 that is any of those three names? I doubt it. I mean, maybe we'll get a caller. Maybe a Margaret. Yeah, that they go by Maggie or something.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Yeah, there's some Margherts. Oh, is Matt? See, I always think, I forget that names like Maggie. Maggie would be a Margaret because there are lots of Maggie's. Yeah, I think Margaret shouldn't be in the same conversation with Helen and others. I know several Maggie's. So Maggie's are Margaret's? I think generally there may be some exceptions.
Starting point is 00:05:00 I didn't know. You know what? That had never came to my, like, thought. I thought that's cheating, though. You should be Margie. I thought like Maggie Davis, who used to work with us, I thought Maggie, I thought that was just her name. But you're saying, like, her birth certificate probably says Drew Margaret.
Starting point is 00:05:15 I haven't seen her birth certificate, maybe. I know other, I do know. I mean, I assume, yes. I mean, I do know some maggies that I know for sure are Margaret. I'm not positive on Maggie Davis. But yes, it is a common shortening of Margaret. I didn't know Ellie was short for Helen, though. He said that girl goes by Ellie instead of Helen.
Starting point is 00:05:32 So does that mean all the Ellie's we know are helens? No, they're Ellen's. No, Ellie's Elizabeth, too. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah. So this girl just was like, my name's now Ellie. And that's what you decided to do.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Where are we tomorrow, Ryan? Lockridge Park. It's technically in Garrett County, but it overlooks the river right by Old Bridge Golf Course in Danville. It sits up way up high on the hill there. and it's really cool. It's a grand opening tomorrow, and we're giving away tickets to the Food City 500 tomorrow also. The Bristol race? Yes.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Oh, wow. So if I put in Lockridge Park, it'll take me there. Yeah, Lockridge Park. And it's in Garrid County. Technically in Garrett County, but like I said, it overlooks the old bridge golf course there kind of. I don't know what that means. All right. But in Garrett County.
Starting point is 00:06:20 We've done one show in Garrett County, two maybe over the years in Lancaster. Yeah, we did one at a bank in Lancaster. that one time I remember. Okay. Well, Garrid County come. We're giving away tickets to Bristol. Yeah. And Syndicate Dunn's going to cater food there for these barbecue truck. Nice. Oh, dude, his barbecue truck is awesome. Well, that's a good combo for a show. So yeah, take off and come tomorrow. That's a good combo in Garrett County. If you've never been, tickets to Bristol and his barbecue will be great. Okay, a couple things real quick before we go to the phones. I'm leaving after the show, Ryan, and going to Columbus for the Canes tonight. That truck.
Starting point is 00:06:56 I forgot you're going to the Canes game tonight. Canes versus Blue Jackets. I splurged a little bit. Shannon bought tickets on the third row. I'm going to knock the people off the first and second row and bang on the glass. If there's a hat trick, will you throw your hat on the ice? Yeah, sure. Why not?
Starting point is 00:07:13 I've got my jersey. You know, I feel like hockey jersey is the one jersey you can wear. You can wear it at an event. And you can, and I, it's my Svechnikov jersey. And my hope is, you know how they play and they'll like hit each other into the glass? I want to be sitting there and bang on it. Tough guy. On the other side of the glass.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Well, that's what people do. They bang on the glass when they come up next to you. You're going to be an enemy territory. It'll be all Columbus fans and you. They stink. The tickets were, I mean, I say I splurge, they were expensive, but they weren't what you would think for that level of row. Because that team, Columbus stinks.
Starting point is 00:07:49 But it's a long drive, so I'm driving back after the game. So that's going to be a long drive back too. But that's all right, though. You love driving. I do. I don't know if I love driving that much. But, I mean, the Keynes, this is along in Nashville, the closest they ever are here. So, Drew, I'm going to the Keynes tonight.
Starting point is 00:08:08 And then straight to Lancaster. I wonder how many people at the Canes game will be heading to Lockridge Park. Lockridge Park. I think Sebastian Aho is doing it. And Coochie, that's the name, the goalie, Shannon. They call him Coochie. They have an Aho and a Coochie? Well, I mean, most hockey players are four, right?
Starting point is 00:08:28 So they're from all over. There's a kokenemi. There's an a ho. There's a, oh, I just saw, I've just realized how Ryan's brain was working there, Shannon. The a ho and koochee. Yeah. That's what it wonders why women don't like him. But anyway, his name is like Ketch, Kachnakov.
Starting point is 00:08:48 But Shannon, they call him Kucci. And that's our goal. Okay. Well, I'll have to watch. I don't really watch a whole lot of hockey. admit to you, but I'll be watching Cochie. I've been keeping up with Cochie. You've been doing that for a while. I've been tracing Coochie my whole life. All right. So it's where switching gears. Mitch McConnell, you've heard of him. I've heard of him. He is stepping down as leader of the Senate. He's going to
Starting point is 00:09:16 keep his seat, but starting in November, he's not going to be the leader anymore. He's going to give that up. and I think a lot of people thought he was going to retire because people immediately started texting me and going, Are you going to run? And the answer was no. But right now there's not anything to run for anyway because he's not stepping down. But after he has been in the Senate since 1984, 40 years of being in the Senate,
Starting point is 00:09:49 he is now Ryan stepping down as the leader. So Mitch, please. You know, and we all said this. You know, when he had some health issues, you know, you're an older gentleman like that. You have to be concerned about things like that. So I hope it's not because of that, you know. Well, maybe it's because he's been in office for 40 years. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Maybe it's a long time. To have someone else do it, right? Imagine how good it's going to feel. I know he's not completely leaving, but when he just doesn't have to wear a suit anymore, 40 years of wearing a suit, that sounds awful. I'm excited for my man to just throw on a t-shirt, some sweats, have a normal day. He could wear like that Reed Shepherd T-shirt that he wore in the Donato's coming. We won't get Ryan's impersonation of them anymore.
Starting point is 00:10:31 That's true. That's what I did think is would you like to just say goodbye to the citizens of Kentucky as the Senate leader? I want to thank Mark for having me on. And I want to thank the people of Tennessee for having me represent him all these years. I still can't find my socks. That was a beautiful, inspiring message, Shannon. Yeah. Let me say this about Mitch.
Starting point is 00:10:57 I wrote a whole book being critical and saying my various thoughts about him over the years. So I don't need to repeat all that. I will say this. On two different occasions, a listener of this show had a situation where they were in need of some pretty immediate help. and a pretty high-level help. I'm not going to go into what they were, but they were listeners to the show twice, different situations,
Starting point is 00:11:25 but both in need of something pretty quickly and pretty immediate. They contacted me and said, I don't know what else to do. And both times I contacted McConnell's office. And even though, you know, I'd thought about running against him, I'd written a very critical book of him and have been very critical over the years.
Starting point is 00:11:45 Both times, because it was a Kentucky, in, they were able to not only help those people, in both cases, help them in a very dire situation. And I was always grateful to that. That's what it should be about. Yeah. And at a time, I'm a big believer when people are finishing, you note those things. And so I do think as he is preparing to step down, I will always be grateful to him for that.
Starting point is 00:12:15 and I know those people who no one knows who they are except me and that office, I know they feel the same way. Jeff, go ahead, Jeff. Hey, Matt. I'm a tail light baby from Not County, and I wanted to talk about a couple things from the eastern Kentucky versus Western Kentucky things. What does that mean,
Starting point is 00:12:36 tail light baby? Does that mean like your parents got it on in the car? Well, no, it's the Dwight Yolkham thing. You've talked about that before. Have I? You know, my parent. I don't know what he's talking about. I don't know either.
Starting point is 00:12:50 A tell light, baby. Yeah. You know, my family's from Eastern Kentucky, and we moved up north. Oh. I've never, okay, I mean, I know that. I don't know that I've registered. So it's not that your parents conceived you in the car, like I thought, Shannon. Which I thought was a weird thing to say on the radio.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Okay, all right, I got you. Yeah, a lot of people moved from East Kentucky to like Detroit or to where the factory. I understand that. I didn't know that that was the phrase. But go ahead. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:20 That's exactly where we moved to was Detroit. But yeah, I mean, I've got two things if you'll let me. Quickly, man. What are they? Real quick. Yeah. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:13:29 Okay. I think there's a subcategory of the mountains from Nott County. I had to drive 45 minutes to a McDonald's. If you had a ponderosa five minutes away, you know, I think that's a different experience. But you're not, but you don't live there. Did you grow up there? Is this like a J.D. Vance thing? No, I spent my summers there. See, that's J.D. Vance. That's J.D. Vance. Now, look, I'm not saying you're not like kind of mountains, but if you just spit your summers there, that's not the same as living there. Okay. But I'm just saying, I mean, you know, okay, all right, well, that was my first point. The second
Starting point is 00:14:13 point is, if you'll let me. So I live outside of Memphis, Tennessee. I was in Lowe's a couple years ago. I see a guy in Kentucky gear, and I go to him like, go cat, where are you from? And he was like, and I'm sorry, Drew, you know, it was like Bowensboro, Bowling Green, you know, somewhere out west. And he's like, where are you from? And I'm like, not county. And then we had nothing in common. But, I mean, again, you were from Detroit. I consider myself mostly from Kentucky. I'm about ready to retire there. Okay.
Starting point is 00:14:51 Well, that's good. Well, I hope you come back. We'd love to have you. And I appreciate the call. I do think when people leave Eastern Kentucky, they do feel a sense of connection to the area. But let me ask you this. Ryan, if you live in a go to school in a place,
Starting point is 00:15:10 and that's where you were born, but then visit in the off season. Where are you from? Detroit or not counting? Well, I would say you're from Detroit. Right, Shannon? Aren't you from Detroit? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:22 If that situation, you're from Detroit. Yeah. I mean, I grew up in Indiana, but I've lived in Kentucky a lot longer than I did in Indiana, but I still consider myself from Indiana. Yeah. You don't have any experiences. That's why I couldn't talk to the person about things because they didn't have much living here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:38 I'm not trying to understand. like you can have Kentucky in your heart like you're a fan but that's different than growing up there Marcia is on the phone isn't she? Yep. I got to go to the bathroom. I'll be back. I'm out. I'll keep him here.
Starting point is 00:15:53 All right first. Don Franklin. If you want a vehicle, you got to go to Don Franklin. It's a great new car from Don Franklin's family dealerships. They got the largest inventory of new used and certified pre-owned vehicles in the state. So whether it's a heated steering wheel, lane assist or car technology, Don Franklin is ready to pair you with the perfect match. It's Don Franklin Auto.com.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Shop online today and find the vehicle of your dreams at Don Franklin. We'll take a break. We'll be right back. It's KSR. To talk to Matt Jones and the crew call the Clark's Puppet Shop phone line at 859-28027 or 1-806 or 1-800-603. You can also text Matt on the A-Vision Glass text machine at 772-724. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:16:38 859-8-8-8-2-8027. Our guy, Ryan, from Indiana State, Avia. Avila, had 35 last night. Oh, my goodness. Did he really? Against your team Evansville. So I tweeted out his highlights, and I put on there Cream Abdul-Jabbar, which we've talked about before.
Starting point is 00:16:57 And it's kind of going viral. So here's my question. Do you like Cream Abdul-Jabbar better or Larry Blurred? Because he wears goggles. I saw somebody say Larry nerd. I think that's even... Larry nerd. Larry nerd is the best one I've seen.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Larry Nerd is good. Somebody else did. I don't know who it was. Well, I didn't come over Cream, Abdul-Jabbar either. But I like Larry Nerd better than Larry Blurred. I still like cream Abdul-Jabbar because I think it's very creative. Drew, which one do you like? My answer was going to be cream until Shannon slid in there with a new suggestion.
Starting point is 00:17:32 I'm going Larry Nerd. I like that. Very nerd is good. And his highlights last night were crazy. They were crazy. 35 and he scored, he's like Yokic. He scored in every way he could. How is that guy good?
Starting point is 00:17:46 I don't know. How is he good? He plays like. Old man YMCA basketball. Can he dunk? I'm not sure if he can dunk. He plays distinctly below the rim. He's going to be a star come March.
Starting point is 00:17:58 He is. They've got to make the tournament. They've got to make it. You know, remember, Missouri Valley tournaments a week before everybody else's, right? I'm going to be pulling for Indiana. So their tournament final will be, right before the Kentucky Tennessee game, I think. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:18:13 So it'll be the Wichita. It used to always be Wichita State. Now it's Indiana State. The Missouri Valley tournament final is at 2 o'clock next week, and then we play Tennessee right after it. I'm going to be at the bar, Shannon, pull it. He's got to make it, right? They've got to get him in the tournament.
Starting point is 00:18:31 I got to start watching these games. Where do you find Indiana State games? Well, they're on ESPN Plus quite a bit. But they sometimes, they've had some games on like ESP and, P&U and stuff. But their tournament is next week, and he's got to get in, because you're right, if he gets in the tournament, he's going to be a star. And if they were to win a game, Drew, like he would be a huge star.
Starting point is 00:18:54 He has to get in the tournament. I can't even think you've had some players come through that are some NBA talents at mid-majors and they have a great first round and become legends. But none of them have goggles and look like him and play the way he does. He will be a sensation if they can get him in that field. He is what I should have been, Shannon. Yeah. If I could have worked on my craft.
Starting point is 00:19:13 He looks like the last guy you would pick in gym class in the pickup game. They're 25 and 5. They maybe could get an at-large bid. They're on the bubble of an at-large bid. But I think they'll probably get left out unless they make it. So I hope they do. One person writes, Matt, my 20-year-old daughter is named Margaret. She goes by Maggie.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Did you know that there are other names that actually derive from Margaret? Margie, Meg, Peggy, and Pearl. How is Pearl? I don't get that. An offset of Margaret. I don't know. I can see the other ones. Every one of all of this.
Starting point is 00:19:52 Where do you get Peg? Where's the P come from, Drew? I didn't know any of those except the obvious. Pearl and Peg. You said another one that didn't fit either. Meg. Meg. Meg.
Starting point is 00:20:03 Yeah. But I mean, I'm not giving you, I'm not giving you Meg either. People are named Megan, aren't they? Peggy, I don't think they get Peggy. Aren't there other ones, though? Isn't like Fred also called Dick? Richard.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Richard? Why would Fred be Dick? Why would Richard be Dick? Well, Richard, Dick. But Fred? Where are you getting Fred? I don't know. Sam's got something on his mind over there.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Coochie? friend. Let's go to Marsha. Marsha, did you hear Ryan in the first segment? No, but we're talking about names. Like you could get Dick out of Ryan, too, I guess. Oh, Marsha. Yeah. Marsha!
Starting point is 00:20:57 With the Kentucky branded line of the day, Shannon. Yeah, throwing haymakers. Haymakers. Well, apparently I was thrown under the bus. So I cannot believe it. First of all, were you not listening at the time? No, I've been having insomnia and really bad. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:21:18 I set up half the night. So Donnie called me this morning. Donnie from, you know, he comes to the show. Donnie from my friend. And he called and said, well, Marcia, you could host that show. And then I start getting messages. How could Ryan be mean to Marsha? I said, what?
Starting point is 00:21:39 Well, first of all, when you listen on podcasts, you're going to be disappointed. Now, Drew and Shannon and I took up for you. But he did. You and Misty, he completely threw under the bus as examples of people who could not host the show. And you already, Shannon, in 30 seconds, had a better line than Ryan's had in two years. That's true. Very true. So I think you could do it, Marsha.
Starting point is 00:22:02 Well, I'm just, I would just like to know why he would say such a thing. I mean, it will be dead air before I ever host that show because I've been insulted, but I would like to know what he based that on. All right, there you go. I love you, Marsha. Marsha, I want to take this time and have been an opportunity to say, I apologize for any harsh words that I have said towards you. I just used you as your name as an example.
Starting point is 00:22:31 It could have been any Marsha. But why did you... It could have been any Marsha. Why is that her last name? First of all, you said her last name. Oh, yeah, I did. Marcia Poe. That's right.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Could be any Marsha Poe. Could be another Marsha Poe. But why, but why her? You could have, you could have picked a generic name. Why her? Because I'm such good friends with her. I knew she knew I was kidding and didn't meet any harsh, anything mean behind it. And we'll hug and hug it out.
Starting point is 00:22:58 I'm not sure about it. I love you, Marcia. No harm, no foul. I love you, too. I'm just assuming it's because I have a country twang that you think I'm not qualified because you know I have a knowledge. Oh, no doubt. Okay, well, okay.
Starting point is 00:23:21 I'm just going to think because, like you said, you're from Indiana. You had a brain fart. Brain fart. That's it. Here's the thing to remember. At the end of the day, you can't be too offended. it's him and you know what he says on a daily basis. So, but Marcia, we took up for you. They did. I know you could host the show. And I'm sorry to hear about your insomnia. I hope that
Starting point is 00:23:42 gets better. Okay. Well, that's all right. That's all right. That is good. All right. I hope to see you soon, Marcia. Thank you. Oh, yes. Thank you. I may have to come tomorrow if I'm able. Please do. And smack him right across the face. Thank you very much. I appreciate to call. How awesome is Marcia? She's awesome. she didn't sound all that happy. I'm not going to lie to you. No, but she delivered that line perfectly to start the call. That was great.
Starting point is 00:24:10 She could host it. Roscoe, what do you got? How do I follow Marshall's comment about, well, I just won't repeat that, but there's just no way to follow that. But anyway, I need to make a confession to the entire Big Blue Nation. I grew up in Louisville and St. Matthews and saw the 1980, Louisville Cardinals with Daryl Griffith. All right, we just got 30 seconds, 30 seconds.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Okay, I did. But I've lived in election in all my life, and I am a big blue fan in and out. I just want to apologize. I love the cats, go cats. Wait a minute. Are you saying you switched from Louisville to Kentucky? Yes, can that be done? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:01 first of all I appreciate the call are you allowed to based on the last few years Drew switch from Louisville to Kentucky I mean it's going to come with some punishment some embarrassment but anyone that wants to leave Louisville I'm not so cruel that I
Starting point is 00:25:17 would wish someone stay part of that. You know what I think you have to do Drew it's like when you move to Division 1 you have to sit out of the tournament for a few years you don't like it you have to like sit out for a couple years I like it then maybe you can we'll let you join we'll take a break Be right back.
Starting point is 00:25:32 It's Kentucky Sports Radio. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. That's amazing. This Michael or not I was about to say. William Hung.
Starting point is 00:25:48 William Hung. Yeah. You know, the William Hung was a star for a while. Oh, yeah. Huge star. You know, the contests we're having. I'm trying to think where they've, you know, obviously the singing contest. I'll give you another example, though, was remember MTV did want to be a VJ and gave it's Jesse Camp?
Starting point is 00:26:10 And who is the other dude? The big guy who had a career for a long time, Dave Holmes. That's right. He came in second. He still does stuff. I don't know what happened to Jesse Camp. That's a pretty good Jesse. I don't know how that guy.
Starting point is 00:26:31 No, Ryan doesn't know. But yeah, that's a good Jesse. That's how he sounded. I don't know how he ever got on there. I don't know how he got on there either. You don't know who that is, Ryan? No, I'd have no idea who you're talking about. I'll tell you somebody I hung out with it louder than life last year.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Matt Penfield. Remember him from MTV? He didn't come from that show, though, right? No, but he was like, he hosted the light, night alternate music thing, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, a couple quick people who passed away.
Starting point is 00:26:57 First of all, Richard Lewis, the comedian, who has been around forever. Yeah. as long as I can remember and was on Kirby Enthusiasm, which is my favorite comedy probably of all time. He passed away at 76 years old. Ryan, again, I mean, he's had a sort of major comedy career for over 40 years. I don't know how he got his start, but he's been around forever. Yeah, he's that guy you'd look up and he just was everywhere. Everywhere.
Starting point is 00:27:27 I was really, I was surprised he was 76 years old. I didn't think he was that old. Yeah, he used to be on. Stern a lot. He was on the Tonight Show a lot. Yeah. And then he has been on Curb Your Enthusiasm for a long time. And I actually thought he was really funny. He kind of had like a neurotic personality. I always really liked him. And then Shannon Virgil. Oh, Virgil. Yeah, from the WWF. From the WWF, Virgil, around wrestling a long time, most famously known for his feud with the million dollar man.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Yeah. And apparently he would always set up like his autograph table and places. Yeah, he would, that was the thing he would do. Drew, you'd like this. He would just be somewhere. Like in a New York subway. Yeah, he would just, he would just randomly go somewhere and set up a table with a backdrop and charge for autograph. I appreciate the hustle. Yeah. I remember Virgil pretty well and then he became Vincent when he switched to the other one. So I was on NW for a while. So that is a great move, Shannon. Just be like, I'm just going to go on a public street and go, would you like an autograph? I'm Virgil. Hey, make your
Starting point is 00:28:37 money. 859, so rest in peace to both of those folks. 859-2-80-2287. Go ahead, Goh. Hey, Matt, first time, long time. Who I? So I wanted to call it. I've got a question. Me and my wife are expecting our second
Starting point is 00:28:52 kid, our second son, in August, that I wanted to call in and get a name suggestion from you. And I was going to ask, you know, everybody else, but I'm kind of worried that Ryan may hate kids as much as he hates women, so I didn't want to ask him. So what's your question again? I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:29:09 We're having our second son in August, and I want to get a name suggestion. Oh, name suggestion. Well, not goop. Anything but goop. Well, first of all, like, do you want a normal name? Are you like one of these people now who want something like majestic or something like that? No, I just want your suggestion. Whatever you think you would want a name of your team.
Starting point is 00:29:31 I would go, well, let's see. I appreciate the call. I would say Virgil. I think in honor of the passing of Virgil. Virgil's great. I don't know. You don't see a lot of Virgil. That's a great suggestion.
Starting point is 00:29:49 I think I'm going, Drew, with Virgil. Virgil's great. I like that it's topical. I'll stay topical and go Zvonimir for Big Z. Big Z. I think he's on a great path. I think are going to be named Reed in the next couple years. The next nine, ten months from now, a lot of reads.
Starting point is 00:30:07 There's a lot of kids my age. When I was in high school and college, a lot of dudes named Kyle for Kyle Macy. You remember? Yeah, Kyle and Macy. Girls named Macy, boys named Kyle, yes. By the way, a lot of people are riding me saying that they know Margaret's, or no Peggys who come from Margaret.
Starting point is 00:30:26 How is that a nickname? I didn't know that was a thing. How many Pets? How many Peggy's could you possibly know? Do you know a person named Peggy? Yeah. Who? Peggy Brown went to school with her.
Starting point is 00:30:40 Okay. Hello Peggy Sue. Goodbye. That was like a million years ago, right? I mean, I don't know our Peggy, much less many Peggys. Yeah, I don't think I know any either. Drew, do you know a Peggy? I don't know any Peggy's.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Yeah. I was trying to research why Peggy would come from Margaret and even Google a story. I'm getting deep, but I'm not finding many answers. I don't think the internet knows either. I think people are making this up. Speaking of things that the internet, Shannon, did you see that you can't find? Did you see the people that came to the OVW show like in cosplay? Frotty and Lexington?
Starting point is 00:31:17 Yes. No. Okay. So this was weird. A dude walked in in a like suit with like a wrestling mask on. He had two women on each arm. He had a woman on each arm. He had two guys who were like acted like they were security, right?
Starting point is 00:31:37 They had like the earpieces. And he had people going around handing out fake money saying vote for the mayor. And it was like eight people and they never broke character all night. They walked around all night as this like entourage cosplay. And he would introduce himself as I am the mayor of Lexington. Sounds like he was auditioning for a role at OVW. So maybe we should have brought him backstage. Like, that wasn't Linda Gordon, I don't think, in the, in the mask.
Starting point is 00:32:11 But it was so weird. I mean, you guys weren't there so you can't see it. But he never in two hours ever broke character. And the security would like go, they would act like they were talking to someone and go, please move a little bit to the left. We have someone approach. Like they did it the whole time. I respect that that.
Starting point is 00:32:30 carried it out through the whole thing. So I spent a lot of the week in Googling trying to find out who this person was. And they handed me, like they, they handed me a business card that said I'm, it just said mayor of Lexington with a phone number. Call that number. I did. Nothing answered. I tried. I mean, who would go through that much trouble? I don't know. And then for nothing, because you can't find anything else about them. Yeah. If someone has to know, it was the strangest thing in the world. Over 70. Who's next? Go ahead. Hi, Matt. Yeah, I'll tell you, prove how old I am. My mother's name is Harriet. My mother's name was Harriet Margaret, and she went by McGee. McGee, so not Maggie, McGee. Wow.
Starting point is 00:33:16 McGee, yeah. And my wife and I have a friend whose name is Margaret, and she goes by Peggy. Yeah, so that is, that is, oh, but go ahead. Yeah, I really enjoy your show. We find it very entertaining. I've been around, you know, used to travel a lot. So I heard Extra in Southern California and the fan in New York and Mike and the Mad Dock and all that. So not really the deep dive into Kentucky history, but enjoy your show very much.
Starting point is 00:33:42 Well, thank you very much. I met you at one of the golf outings and I've been in the bar a few times. So I was just going to say this. I think one of the greatest compliments I've ever heard you give is when somebody makes three or four statements. and then you say, I agree with everything you said. Well, that doesn't happen a lot, probably. But thank you very much, sir. I appreciate you listening,
Starting point is 00:34:05 and the golf scramble actually goes on sale here pretty soon in Lexington. Well, there's one more thing. Okay. Now, Ian, I'm going to let him finish, but Ian, are you there? Yeah, he's here. Ian, get on the mic just a second, Ian. Yes, sir. Appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:34:19 That's the signal. Well, I was waiting for it, but that verbiage wasn't used. Oh, you will. Okay. All right. Go ahead. Well, I think you're a critical thinker, and critical doesn't mean negative all the time. It just means you're thoughtful.
Starting point is 00:34:35 Well, that's very nice. Thank you very much, and I do appreciate the call. Don't stress over March Madness. We'll take a break and come back. Final segment. It's KSR. Starting point is 00:35:24 at KY Sports Radio. Welcome back. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Shannon, they're saying about this Robbie Avia dude from Indiana State. There are people saying he's from French thick, Indiana. That's where Larry nerds from. So why can't he be there from there also?
Starting point is 00:35:48 All right. So he's only a sophomore. Drew, you think he could play? You think he could enter the port? You think that guy could play and be effective at a major school the way he plays? Or the people too athletic. Really, I don't care. Let's go get him.
Starting point is 00:36:03 Whatever money we're saving up for Reed. If Reed leaves us, let's throw it all at Larry Nerd and have some fun. I do feel like he'll go somewhere else, Ryan, don't you think? I mean, he's averaging. He's a sophomore. He had 12 a game last year. He's averaging 18 a game this year. Yeah, he's not just a fluke.
Starting point is 00:36:22 I mean, the dude can play. He can. But like, if you watch that video I put up, it's all distinctly below the rim. Oh, yeah. And the dudes that are guarding him are below the rim. Do you think he could do it against Hugo? No. That's why he needs to stay where he's at.
Starting point is 00:36:41 Like, he's a star there. He goes to an, like a major conference school. He's probably not even going to play. So you would say don't go to a major school. No, he needs to stay where he's a star. I don't know. I'd like to see it, though. I wonder if he could. He could pull dudes like that out, though, because he can shoot threes, Drew, you know. Yeah, and he's, Kentucky's a little extreme. There's, there's a place for him at a higher level than where he is.
Starting point is 00:37:07 I don't know how high up he could go. Maybe like in the Big East or something. They list him. They listed in. He was a lot of walking. Yeah, but he said, I mean, 16. You know, Yokic has changed my view on all these people. because he's the best player in the NBA, and he's, he's fat. I can admit that he's fat.
Starting point is 00:37:28 No, he is. I'm not trying, he is. But like, and he plays below the rim, I mean, Luca is chubby. Yeah. So could Avila play it like a place like Virginia, that they don't play in up temple style? Maybe. Maybe. He's shooting 40% from three.
Starting point is 00:37:45 He's shooting 40% from three. I think you'd want to go to the biggest conference you could where the people, where though it wasn't, like the SEC athleticism is a premium. I don't know if that's true in like the Big East. Yeah. So I could see like going, you mentioned Xavier, Shannon, but I could see him at a school like Xavier. You think he would be a star there?
Starting point is 00:38:05 Or a school like Creighton? You couldn't see that guy at Creighton? The Creighton's a top 15 school, though. I don't know. Dude, if he's averaging 18 a game, I don't care where. I mean, look at the, well, first of all, look at the SEC. Okay, but you say that.
Starting point is 00:38:20 at the SEC. Tennessee's best player came from Northern Colorado. He's going to be SEC player of the year. Antonio Reeves came from Illinois State. Where'd the kid at Alabama come from? Well, the one kid from Alabama came from North Dakota State. Where was Sears from
Starting point is 00:38:36 Drew? He's not... He's a transfer. He's a transfer. He's not have to look like this guy. No, they don't. I agree with you. Sears was at Ohio, I think. Okay, but my point is, all those guys put up buckets at a small school and came here, or came to the SEC.
Starting point is 00:38:55 The difference is he's not athletic, but he's putting up the same stats. Those dudes did. So. Toughest team they played all year was Michigan State. And how'd they do? They lost by 12. Okay. We'll see.
Starting point is 00:39:08 They'll get a chance. They'll get a chance. Mike from Vegas. Go ahead, Mike. Mike. I think that Reed Shepard is the Redeemer of the Kentucky basketball season. That's why I call him the Redeemer. and I'm kind of concerned about Ryan and his problem with Marsha.
Starting point is 00:39:30 What do you mean by that, the Redeemer? Like, I mean, well, it seems like I've been gone for about 20 years. I've lived in Vegas, like I said, I'm born and raised here. It just seems like he's brought the state back to the state of basketball that I remember when I left. Yeah, but I mean, we've been, we've had a lot of that since you've been gone. I mean, we, this, this fan base from 2000, well, really the whole time, but really from 2010 to 2009. This fan base was wild every year. What's been different is we haven't been winning like we've won.
Starting point is 00:40:03 So as much as people love Reed, let's not act like he's the Lord and Savior that brought back Kentucky basketball. If we win, people are into it. The problem just the last couple years is we haven't won like we won before. Well, there's only one true Lord and Savior, but Reed is, to me, he's just brought the whole state together. I don't know why. Because he's blue wood. Maybe. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:40:27 And another comment, I'm concerned about Ryan. And, you know, what Marcia said, he's Little Richard. But you can't get Cooch out of Marsha, Ryan. I'm sorry. That's all. Appreciate the call. Leave the jokes to Marsha. Let's go to Brandon.
Starting point is 00:40:43 Go ahead, Brandon. Hey, Matt, when people ask me where I'm from, I always say three things. The home of the creators of Walking Dead. Yotee Hall and the great Matt Jones. Well, I was only there for a couple years, but I appreciate it. But I don't know if you remember this or not. It was right before the Florida game. I was the one that got the Forrest Gump.
Starting point is 00:41:05 It was a full house in there. I think you were sitting next to Dan Eliske. And there was one chair left, and you walked up and said, hey, can I have that chair? And I said, sorry, seek to take it. I do not remember that. Oh, my goodness. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:41:19 But I appreciate you listening. And is this your time call? It is, it is. All right, well, who are? Thank you very much. I appreciate it. Let's go to Carrie. Go ahead, Carrie.
Starting point is 00:41:30 Hey, I'm a first-time caller here. Who are? Were you mad at Ryan? No, I'm not mad at Ryan because I love Helen Reddy, and he knew that name, so it's all good. So he made up for it by knowing Helen Reddy. Okay. He made up for it. I think we're of the same age.
Starting point is 00:41:47 Anyway, since it's open topic day, I don't think I've heard you guys talking about this, but I did see that Matt posted the video the other day. I want to get your opinion of the new thing Rupp Arena has going on. Love it. I think I love it more now that it's going national. It's gross. You're talking about it's an Nackwards can. It's very gross.
Starting point is 00:42:07 But Drew, now it's been on ESPN. It's been on House of Highlights. Like it's going everywhere and I think it's going to catch on, Drew. I think they actually started something creative at Rupp Arena. The crowd really gets into it. As soon as hungry eyes starts playing, everyone knows to look straight up. They know what's coming. Well, let me tell you, I was an unsuspecting victim.
Starting point is 00:42:31 Oh, you were. I were the hot dog couple. You were not the hot dog couple. I have never been more mortified in my life, but after it went to 15 million views on ESPN's TikTok, I thought I guess I better just wait for me. You were the hot dog couple. Oh my goodness. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Wow. And you all shared a hot dog. Well, here's the funniest thing. I had one bite of the hot dog before the game even started. And somehow that dumb camera picks it up. Yeah, I've heard, by the way, they do that, for people who don't know, they do the camera before the game starts. So I think you're okay if you eat during the game. They do it before it starts.
Starting point is 00:43:16 So those of you're at the game, that's how that just so you know, that's, when you're most vulnerable. But like you and your people have said like people share a hot dog. I mean, I guess that's not crazy for a husband and wife. No, here's the crazy thing. We had just been seated. I said, can I just have a bite of the hot dog? And it was literally like a second.
Starting point is 00:43:40 And somehow it got picked up. That was before the game started. And then the second half comes along. But you've been able to laugh about it, right? Have you been able to laugh about it? Oh my gosh, of course. I am mortified, but then I laugh at it. You are a celebrity, you're a celebrity. You and your husband share hot dogs and pull them out of your mouse, and you should be very proud. It's ridiculous, but if Nathan does want us to come up to the contest, well, I guess we might tell.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Well, thank you very much. How about that? One of the victims drew of the hot dog cam, or the snack words cam speaks. It's good to hear from her. I know a lot of people, like her who have been on there and they're mortified and their lives of change moving forward. And then I've mentioned this on this show. There are several fans who refuse to spend money in Ruppereena and eat there anymore out of fear that they will end up on the camera. I think when the numbers come out at the end of the season, they're going to have to rethink it. It's worth it. But just know, they do all that before the game, just so you know.
Starting point is 00:44:38 When you hear a waterfall in nature, there's no cause for concern. But when it's a sound of water, pouring through your living room, you might have to call serve pro. 1-800 serve pro. They do fire water damage, make it like it never, even happen. I hope you don't need it, but if you do, s-er-v-v-pr-O-com, it is serve pro. Ryan, tell everybody where we are tomorrow. Lockridge Park. It's a Garrett County address. We'll tweet out the address for it, but it'll be a really cool place. Yeah, please tweet out the address so I know where I'm going.
Starting point is 00:45:06 If you happen to be in Columbus for the hockey game tonight, say hello, I'm going to be pounding on the glass, Shannon. Good luck. We'll see you later.
