Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:00 And for more, follow Timbo Slica Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Clivert Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
Starting point is 00:01:19 He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue 42. A rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker.
Starting point is 00:01:38 Listen to the Clifford Show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Always answered my questions I had and streamlined the process. I could not ask for better people to help me and my family get our first house. I feel blessed to be able to go through them. Be like Joshua, or the 69,999 others just like him, and get started with Stockton Mortgage Today by going to Stockton.com and get started. I've even used Stockton Mortgage myself on my own home loan.
Starting point is 00:02:31 your home loan needs stockton dot com and click get started stockton mortgage nmLS 8259 equal housing lender nmLS consumer access dot org welcome to hour two of kentucky sports radio presented by stockton mortgage now here's matt jones welcome back hour number two kentucky sports radio 859280 2287 a vision auto glass text machine is 772 77475254 there's another scenario where kentucky gets the two Okay, what is it? Tennessee wins tonight, and then we just beat Tennessee. We still get the two? But we don't share for the SEC title.
Starting point is 00:03:09 So it all depends on what you care about. Do you care about having a share of the SEC title or not? Yes. So if you do care about having a share of the SEC title, then we need Tennessee to lose tonight. Tennessee wins tonight. They win the SEC, but then if we beat them, we don't need Mississippi State to beat South Carolina.
Starting point is 00:03:30 have to beat Tennessee. So which would you prefer? Would you rather... So here are your two scenarios. Would you rather South Carolina win, and then we got to beat Tennessee, but we also need Mississippi State to beat South Carolina, but if that happens, we share the SEC title.
Starting point is 00:03:46 Or would you rather win Tennessee win, and then we don't even care about the South Carolina game, all we have to do is beat Tennessee. I like that scenario just then... So you don't care about winning a share of the SEC? At this point, I just don't want to double buy. I mean, I want the double by. I don't want to play on Thursday.
Starting point is 00:04:03 But I think I would rather have a shot at the SEC title that will stay forever. CEC champ. Co-S-C champs. You don't want to co-C champs. But it's better than nothing. And then play an extra game on Thursday than the opposite. I'll give you one more scenario while that's a good one. Saturday in Knoxville, Tennessee will be ready to drop the balloons.
Starting point is 00:04:25 And if Kentucky were to win, they wouldn't win the championship, South Carolina. Out right. So you could ruin their. their big ceremony in Knoxville. So you will be pulling for... They'll probably be ready to cut the nets and all that in Kentucky would then give it to Carolina by winning. So you will pull for who?
Starting point is 00:04:40 Tonight. Carolina. Well, I'll run against the Volus if they're playing in. Shannon, which would you prefer? Scenario A. There's a lot that you laid out there. The one where we have a chance to tie for the title. Exactly. Yeah, I mean, what's the point of playing? Right? Do you want to win the title? Yeah. No, I tend to
Starting point is 00:04:57 agree. 859-280, 27. Let me give you a football piece of news that I was told that I think is actually interesting. So I didn't know who this person was, but a guy named Derek Shea was brought on to be a senior offensive analyst from Marshall. He was the wide receivers coach at Marshall, and he's brought on to be a senior offensive analyst. I think the old offensive analyst thing is funny because that didn't used to be a thing. Right, like all of a sudden, they never used to have analyst. And now they have these offensive analysts. I like that that's become a thing because that didn't used to be a thing.
Starting point is 00:05:35 True. Notice we never see any of their analysis. Nothing that we have to, but it's never like, we got him because look at all this analysis he does. And I also like that you're a senior offensive analyst. Shannon, where are the junior offensive analyst? Sophomore and freshman. Yeah, you don't see a lot of those. But anyways, a senior offensive analyst.
Starting point is 00:05:53 I got a message from a person who's a UK fan that used to coach with this dude at another power program. The UK fan, he just has written me over the years with little coaching info and nugget. Yeah. He said, I used to coach with Derek. He said, not just analyst, dude might be one of the best recruiters I've ever been around. Uh-huh. So we may have just gotten like a star recruiter in a senior analyst role.
Starting point is 00:06:24 What do you make of that? I didn't even know about the star recruit. I didn't either. I didn't either. That's my point. I just heard this. last night? I knew he had done some analyzing at another school when Bush Hamden was an analyzer. So he has that connection. Obviously, Bush made that call to get him to join now that we know
Starting point is 00:06:40 they're at Missouri together. So knowing the coordinator wanted him and now knowing he was a good recruiter, I didn't need to know his name before yesterday. Sounds like a good hire to me. That's the hook. I didn't know that info either that he's a good recruiter. So that's why they got their senior advisor offensive analyst position just made up. It sounds like they got the guy. Sounds like they got a guy, though, that might be able to help. 8.59-2-80-22-80. It is Wings Day. Dollar Wings, got some folks in here.
Starting point is 00:07:07 I'm sure who are going to take part of it. Did you see the high school buzzer-beater, Shannon, where they completely screwed the team yet last night in New Jersey? No, I didn't see this. All right, I tweeted it out. You got to look at the video. All right. So this high school team, it's Camden, New Jersey, which is, I think, where DJ Wagner and those guys. played, right? They're playing somebody. They make a shot. I think the ball goes through the basket
Starting point is 00:07:38 before the buzzer goes off. In real time, they count it. Go to the monitor and wave it off for reasons that are incomprehensible. What now? So in real time, this basket, they count because it goes through. It goes through. He shoots it with a second left. And it goes through. They count it. You see the referee doing this.
Starting point is 00:08:05 And then they look at it again, and then they wave it off. And the coach was livid after the game, said, you saw officials, his words were, screw 15 kids in the middle of thousands of people, and basically was like, ruined their lives forever. It looked like it was. pretty cut and dry. That was a good bucket right there. Just seen it for the first time.
Starting point is 00:08:28 I don't know. How do they go to the monitor there? And then change the call when it couldn't be more obvious. Shannon, do you see that? I'm looking at it right now. Yeah, I mean, the ball goes through the net as the clock hit zero. But the ball is clearly out of his hands. He's clearly out of his hands. The ball is in the net with 0.1 seconds left. Took that moment away from that kid and that school.
Starting point is 00:08:52 Was there any way, like, in their mind, the rest were somehow, confused to think that the ball had to go through the realm before the knot out of his hand? You think that would be? I'm just trying to like rationalize. Like how do you make that ball? I can't rationalize how they do it either. And they're in a gym full of people. Looks like half are on one side.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Half or on the other. It's a playoff game. So they're eliminated now from the playoffs. I just don't know how you do that. It might be one of the worst calls I've ever seen, especially when you consider they went to the monitor and reversed. the correct call. I don't know how you can look at that and think that's not good.
Starting point is 00:09:30 I mean, it's very clear that's good. I mean, you can't. There's nothing you can do about it, but those officials need to be punished. You should be able to call a game if you think that doesn't count. What monitor is not going to show the ball is through the basket? I don't get it, but it's one of the worst calls. I see like 0.9 on a screenshot as it's about to go in. It's almost a full second as it's hanging over the rim.
Starting point is 00:09:52 I'm with you, Shannon. You almost wonder, what could. Would they have been thinking? There had to be some kind of confusion. Because if they were thinking clearly, there's no way you make that overturn. You wouldn't think so. Investigation. But they did.
Starting point is 00:10:06 Foul play. And it was a really, really bad call. Finally, before we go to the phone, did you hear about what Wendy's is doing? Two Wendy's stories this morning. First of all, during March Madness, Wendy's is selling burgers for a dollar. How about that? If you go to a Wendy's game during a tournament game, you get a burger for a dollar. So that's pretty exciting, right?
Starting point is 00:10:26 Good marketing. But they also are contemplating in some markets charging surge pricing. Do you know what surge pricing is? So, I mean, they do that for Uber, right? Like if there's a ton of Uber or if there's not many Ubers, you have to pay more for them. But they're going to do something that the more crowded the Wendy's, the more it would cost. So it's up to the individual Wendy's whether to pick this? No, they will be automatically.
Starting point is 00:10:53 They'll see how many people in Law, law. and they'll raise or lower the prices based on how many people are in line. What do you think of that? Garbage. Yeah, I think that's a little outrageous. When someone's going to a place to buy something, I kind of need to know what it's going to cost. You don't want someone that really every little asset matters.
Starting point is 00:11:14 You're like, oh, surprise, your $3.00 burgers six right now. Think about this, Shannon. I am waiting in line at Wendy's. Part of the appeal of Wendy's is I'm getting the food quickly. Right. It's cheap. So if there happens to be a line that makes me not get the food quickly, the thing that would upset me the most is if it also costs more.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Yeah. There's no way this is going to work. No way. You also have to keep in mind, too, like they say, you know, if you go during lunch hours when everybody's going, it's going to be higher. There's a lot of people at work who have to go take lunch at a certain hour. So they're not going to go to Wendy's. Why would you go to Wendy's and pay more for something you can normally get for a lot cheaper? I almost think the incentive should be the opposite.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Right. The more you have to wait, the cheaper it should be to compensate you for having to wait. And for the restaurant, they're getting more business. Whereas, like, if I only get one person in an hour, you should want to charge a lot more. Sorry, you got bad timing, man. This is going to be 20 bucks. We didn't see you one in a while. I know what you're saying, though.
Starting point is 00:12:18 If you're going to a fast food place and it's not fast, you shouldn't have to pay more. It's barely food. Like, oh, crap. went fast. I guess I should give you more money. It seems to me to be an absolutely horrible idea. It's interesting. It's, you know. Your idea, your thought process, like if you're in line
Starting point is 00:12:35 and you're sitting there watching your price of your burger go up from $2. Yeah, you're going to leave. $4 to $6. I'm going to leave. I mean, the Uber thing works because they have you. Right? Like, if you have to have an Uber, you have to have an Uber. So you're stuck. So if they raise the prices,
Starting point is 00:12:52 like, what are you going to do? It's like, if you're at Keenland and you want an Uber home, it doesn't matter what they're charged. You got to get home. You're not going to them. If I drive to a place to buy something I bought yesterday, I would expect it to cost about the same. But if you're at Wendy's, I'm not forced to stay at Wendy's. Right. There's a lot of other burger places. There's a lot of other places to go. So I just feel like that's not good. I've already found my loophole. I'm going to go on a crowded day when it's surge pricing. And if I like the price, I'm going to sit there and just hold up to the line so there's no one in front of me. Everything gets slow. I'll just watch that price trickle right down to where I want it.
Starting point is 00:13:26 So you wait to buy the dip. Just like you would in a stock, I'm going to buy the dip, but I'm going to park just short of the drive-through. You're going to wait until everyone, you're going to make everyone leave so your price goes down. I'm going to have to wait that long regardless, so I'm just going to slow the line down by parking just short of it, lower my price. Dave Thomas is rolling in his grave right now. Exactly. This is why you're brilliant. Thank you. Who's next? Cole. Cole, what's up Cole?
Starting point is 00:13:52 Morning. Morning. I want to reach out and ask you were talking a couple weeks ago about people who weren't white who could play as well as Reed Shepherd. And one of the first names that came up to. Not play as well who are like him. There's many to play as well. Yeah, played the same way.
Starting point is 00:14:11 Absolutely. And one of the first things that popped into my head is the former Chris Jackson at LSU, Mahmoud Abdul-Ove, who whenever he had the ball in his hand could drive, could shoot, It was just, you were absolutely sure. I love Reed Shepherd, but put some respect on Chris Jackson's name. That dude was insane. I mean, he scored like 30-some a game. You don't think Reed could do that if he didn't have the talent around him?
Starting point is 00:14:35 You know, Chris Jackson didn't have a ton of talent around. I think, I think, I think all of our guys benefit. No, don't get me wrong. Do I think it's plausible? Yeah, I guess it's plausible. But I think all of these guys are going to benefit from the fact that there's other good guys on the team so that they all, for instance, you can't double those guys because these other dudes will beat you. And so what you get is all these dudes get to go one on one. Chris Jackson,
Starting point is 00:15:04 if he played today, would be double teamed every single time he got the ball. And I can see that, absolutely. I was thinking more about his style like you were saying. And just because he could do everything. He could drive. He could do everything. That is true. And so that was more my thought. I'm not trying to say that, you know, Reed is going to be, you know, this amazing superstar, then get everyone in the NBA upset about changing his name. I just thought that it would... No, no, I think I get what you're saying. I get what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:15:31 And I appreciate the call. And that's, for instance, Antonio Reeves. One of the things that's helped him is you can't double teaming. That has helped Rob immensely. I mean, Rob, nobody can guard him one-on-one, and you cannot double-team him. And so that makes it, Ryan, where he's very, very difficult. Yeah, it's hard to game playing against Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:15:50 You've got to pick your poison. What are you going to do? You're going to try to double-team Reeve and leave Rob open? Are you going to try to, you know, but did he say that Chris Jackson didn't play with a lot of talent at LSU? He did have Shaq and Stanley Roberts. I think that's some pretty good talent he had on that team there with him. Shaq was pretty good. Shaq was not a bad player.
Starting point is 00:16:08 Yeah. The Reed comparisons are fun. I enjoy the reality. They get outrageous. I like anyone, I am really encouraging the name of Reed guy who's not white, because I think it's very important for us to try. to because, you know, it's the same thing as why does every left-hander have to be compared to a left-hander? Yeah. You know, there are, you can compare Reed to a non-white guy.
Starting point is 00:16:32 It is okay. I still like Kevin Johnson the best. It's the best one I've heard. And Chris Paul. Chris Paul. Chris Paul, even if their body frames are different. Because Reed's body's going to change when he goes to the NBA at some point, right? Yeah, kind of money in his pockets.
Starting point is 00:16:47 Yeah. Tell me about, we wade down. Tell me about Stock to mortgage. Stockton Mortgage, you know, we're really busy right now. The spring buying season is heating up, so you want to be ready and be out there and get a pre-approval letter from Stockton Mortgage. It's easy to do. You can apply online, and your loan officer is easy to work with. Stockton Mortgage has offices all across Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:17:03 They're in a bunch of different states. Like even if you live in Florida, you can still use Stockton mortgage to do your home loan. They can apply online at Stockton.com. Like I said, I go by their office on Georgetown all the time. Just walk in and talk to a loan officer. You talk that same guy throughout the entire process. NMLS, A259, Equal Housing Lender, NMLS, A259, Equal Housing Lender. Drew and I did this ad, Shannon, without Ryan, the other day.
Starting point is 00:17:28 We didn't do a great job, but we tried. We did the best we could. Wendy's has already ended the surge pricing. They've ended the surge pricing. I read that story Friday, Shannon. They've already scrapped the idea. But they're still going to do the Dollar Burgers during March Vendez? I think they did the Dollar burgers to try to make up for the bad idea of the surge pricing.
Starting point is 00:17:48 We will take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. To talk to Matt Jones and the crew, call the Clark's Puppet Shop phone line at 859-28027 or 1-806-40-623. You can also text Matt on the A-Vision Glass text machine at 772-724. Kentucky women are up 2314 early against Georgia, getting the early lead in the SEC tournament. How about that? Go ladies of the cats. Go ladies of the cats, yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:22 That's right. We'd be a little momentum going. We were just talking about how they can win the whole thing. They can win the whole. I said, probably the favorites at this point. 859-280-2287. Tax machine 772-774-5254. Nikki Haley dropped out of the presidential race this morning.
Starting point is 00:18:39 That means it's Trump and Biden. Feel the excitement, America. You got the two most qualified people in the United States to run. for president. What's the basketball equivalent? Is it like Virginia basketball versus Iowa football? Oh, that's good. That's good.
Starting point is 00:18:59 In terms of excitement level. A game that nobody wants to watch. I was going to say, for basketball, go to the YMCA at about 5 a.m. And just watch guys fall over the ball. That's about what it would be like. I think the college basketball equipment would be like, Shannon, get excited. Virginia, Syracuse. The game nobody wants to see, but you're going to get it anyway.
Starting point is 00:19:22 You're getting it anyway. We got orange versus, you know, Syracuse Orange. It's Virginia, and it's Syracuse. And it's prime time. And I wouldn't watch. And it's running the free world. You could find a way for me to skip the National Championship game if it were those teams. So there you go.
Starting point is 00:19:41 That's your Super Tuesday up. Did you even know yesterday was Super Tuesday? Just because I heard it on the radio Super Tuesday. I watched coverage of it last night. Oh, you did? Yeah. How was their coverage? Everybody knew what was going to happen.
Starting point is 00:19:53 It was on ABC. Nikki Haley won Vermont. Yes, and I saw some dude I'd never heard of one American Samoa, who I didn't even know got to vote. Remember I stood with their group at the convention? I just the other day went looking through the pictures of us at the Republican and Democratic Convention, and it is some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen. You actually stood with Vermont.
Starting point is 00:20:15 I got almost, I think I cleared half the states. I didn't get all 50. It was too much work, but I stood about half. The picture, the video, maybe the funniest video. Okay, so if you're ranking the funniest KSR pictures, videos, none will ever top Ryan creeping behind Joe Biden. No, it's impossible to top that one. But right behind it is Drew creeping behind Matt Bevin.
Starting point is 00:20:40 When Matt Bevin is giving his little speech and Drew is just sitting there smiling and the only people in the picture are Matt Bevin, Mitch McConnell, Elaine Chow, Andy Barr, and Drew Franklin. They needed me there. It was people of Kentucky. I'm like, I have a Kentucky ID on me right now. I'm going to go stand for them. And just standing there, you're cheesing. You've got this big smile on your face. And Matt Bevin's staring a hole through you. Matt Bevin is like looking at me like, you, sir. Yeah. Why are you in front of me with shooting me with your camera? And then there's the woman from the New York Times is interviewing Ryan. Ryan about his thoughts about the convention.
Starting point is 00:21:16 Yes, I gave some very insightful perspective. What was the, we were in that, they all had like trees on their head. That was Vermont. That was Vermont. We were on the cover of, uh, no, you were the AP photo of the Vermont delegation was Drew and Ryan, one of, and Ryan, Shannon, if you remember, is holding his hand up in the air. Like he's waiting to be called on. I'm voting.
Starting point is 00:21:39 I'm putting in my vote. And then there's a picture of Trump doing his acceptance speech. beach and I'm in the second row. Yeah. How did I get up there? I remember you said you wanted to, you know, just witness this moment. I don't know how you got up there. Somehow I was like in the second row of the Trump fan of the day.
Starting point is 00:21:56 They moved you up. It's like, weren't his kids like sitting in the row in front of you or something, weren't they? No, I'm standing and you're right. Cushner and Eric or Frank or whatever they are. They're standing right there in front of me. It's wild. Weird times. Good times.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Weird. I don't know what we were walking in. The next thing, I'm just in photos on everything. We had a conversation with Dan Rather. Remember we met him out in the parking lot? I have a picture of me with Tucker Carlson, and we're laughing like something's exciting's going on. I remember we ran into him in the Concord. I didn't even know who he was, and you were talking to him.
Starting point is 00:22:28 Scott Bayo. I've got our picture with Scott Bayo. Stephen Colbert. Yes. Remember? There's a photo of Scott Bayo. I got to meet Bun B. You all didn't know who it was, but I was so excited to meet Bun B.
Starting point is 00:22:38 That was out in the food truck area. Rage Against the Machine. Yes. What a great time. Don King. Don King. Ask him if you wanted Cracker Barrel or Outback. We almost got kicked out for sneaking to the boys to men rehearsal at the Democratic convention.
Starting point is 00:22:52 It is true, yeah. Whatever happened to Ray Richardson, ladies and gentlemen. I don't know. He's up in Maine if we want to see him. Do you want to do that? Well, I don't know if I'll be around during it this summer, but would you want to go back if we had a chance? I'm actually going to Maine this summer.
Starting point is 00:23:06 Not to Maine. I'm talking about the convention. No, where are the conventions this year? One of them is in Milwaukee. and I don't know where the other one is. I feel like I might have seen Chicago as one of them. Yeah, well, they'll be right next to each other. We could just make one trip.
Starting point is 00:23:20 Who's next year? Kentucky Joe. Kentucky Joe. How are you? I'm doing fine. Mad. You bring back memories. Bring back memories.
Starting point is 00:23:28 I did a political song a long time ago for a certain person. Oh, that's right. You did a Donald Trump song, didn't you? Yeah. Thank you for allowing me to do that. Yeah, well, I think it helped swing the election. Oh, my. Hey, Ron, thank you.
Starting point is 00:23:46 Hey, today's, I mean, you all talked about a lot of topics. Talk about you, UK seniors and everything. They're also going to be a special guest up for her. His name is Bryce. That's right. He will be here tonight at the bar. Bryce Cardin, the firefighter. Kentucky Commonwealth Causes bringing me sitting on the second row behind the bench with his wife.
Starting point is 00:24:07 And he's going to be here at KS. Bar. I'm glad you said that. So I can remember to save his day. But yes, he's coming here before the game. I also got a song to tribute for him. Oh, my goodness. Do you think the firefighter in Louisville, Shannon, do you think it would be a tribute to let Kentucky Joe sing a tribute to him?
Starting point is 00:24:28 I think it would be an honor. All right, I'll tell you what. Joe, hang on. We'll let you do it to start the next segment, okay? Okay, yeah, thank you. I mean, I think that guy's been through a lot. Every hero deserves a song But I mean he's been through a lot
Starting point is 00:24:44 Does he need to go through this too, Drew? I think he's been sitting around waiting for his hero song This is the moment he deserves I'll swallow my pincapped Yes I All right we will we will do that Guess who's going to be on the show tomorrow at 1130 Who's that?
Starting point is 00:25:03 John Wall Oh nice John Wall Coming on to promote his new podcast, the latest episodes with Calla Perry. So John Waugh hasn't been on the show. Has he ever been on? I don't know that he has.
Starting point is 00:25:18 I don't think he's ever been on. I don't think he has. And I think he's going to, and he's going to be on tomorrow. So John Wall in the house. Love that. Tomorrow morning. We'll take a break. Be right back.
Starting point is 00:25:27 It's Kentucky Sports Radio. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Kentucky women leading in the SEC tournament, 30 to 18 over Georgia early in the first round. Where is the SEC women?
Starting point is 00:25:46 Is it Nashville? Greenville. Greenville, Greenville, South Carolina. 859-28027, Wings Day. Got folks sitting here watching the game and getting some wings. Let's get started. Kentucky Joe, for people who didn't hear Bryce Cardin, the firefighter who saved the woman Friday. Kentucky Joe has a tribute song he would like to sing.
Starting point is 00:26:07 you know have at it joe let's hear what you got all right here we go called bryce bryce carne and american hero goes like this he's a godly man he's american hero he does a job with great love in his heart he had the toughest job to do past Friday in Louisville he's a woman truck driver from the clutches of death The brights garden is an American hero. Reminds me of those who fought to keep this country free. That Brad's Garden is a American hero.
Starting point is 00:26:49 I believe he's the best that a man can never be. I believe he's the best that a man can never be. Bright's garden is American hero. He plays the big blue through and through. His American hero, he's a hero for all to see. He's a hero for all to see. All right, there you go. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:20 Very spirited. Yes. But I don't understand one of the lyrics. You said, like, he's a hero that never can be or something. What was it? I've got my notes here. Yeah. Lyrics.
Starting point is 00:27:35 He wrote this one down. Yeah. Read, read, read, read, read, read, Read me the lyrics real quick, because they didn't totally, I don't totally get them. That Bryce's horror is, of the chorus, that Bryce Cardin is American hero. He reminds me of those who fall to keep, to keep this country free, that Bryce Cardin is American hero. I believe he's the best that a man can ever be.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Oh, I thought you said never be. No, no. Okay, can never be. Okay, well, good. Well, first of all, I think the firehouse where Bryce works is going to love. love that song. That's going to be playing to the trucks. I think they're going to really like it.
Starting point is 00:28:12 I think it's going to become the theme for the truck, whatever it is. So, Joe, you should be very proud. Thank you very much. I appreciate it, Matt. You all have a great day. Thank you. Go Cats. You as well.
Starting point is 00:28:26 So there you go. There is the Bryce Carden American Hero song by the great poet Kentucky Joe. Actually, I'm proud of Kentucky Joe at this moment. You can tell you put some effort into this song. I think sometimes he just kind of makes it up as he's in the middle of the song and makes up a bunch of words. This time he had it written down. This time he had it written down. I had a little flow to it.
Starting point is 00:28:46 So I was proud of Kentucky Joe today. Very patriotic. You know, we recently lost Toby Keith, unfortunately, and there might be a new lane for Kentucky Joe to write our patriotic songs moving forward. I think you're right. If you all are at home and if you haven't yet, do me a favor. Do Uncle Matt and cousin Drew a favorite and download the Fade This podcast we did yesterday. I'm very proud of it. Drew and I, if you're a KSR person, we told old stories from the past, including a couple that haven't come out.
Starting point is 00:29:21 Drew nearly let the Greensboro story slip. Oh, I just want you to know. Not true. I stopped him from telling it. Drew nearly let it slip. I vetoed it. And so we didn't end up telling it, but we did tell a lot of stuff. if we've previewed the first 16 conference tournaments, it's the Fade This podcast.
Starting point is 00:29:41 Download an episode, I promise you, if you like KSR and its purest form, you will like these because we do not stay on task at all. Did you actually pick some games? We picked the winner of half of the conference tournament. Yeah. You know, seven-year-old me probably didn't know there'd be a day where he could rank his favorite earnest movies. but I'm so glad yesterday I was given that moment. We rank what Jim Barney gave me.
Starting point is 00:30:08 We ranked the earnest movie, Shannon, and I accidentally cussed, which I'd never do. You could do that on the podcast, though, right? I know, but I don't do it, and I did it. The state of Connecticut made it come out of me. I ended up saying a cuss word. Matt Jones after dark. It was definitely after dark. Shannon, if you thought you hated Kansas, you should hear Matt talk about Connecticut on that podcast.
Starting point is 00:30:32 I'll listen to it now. Yeah, well, I'm not repeating it. We're on the radio. Who's next? John. John, the only bad thing is we were preempted in Lexington and Louisville. I don't know if the Louisville, if the firefighters heard Bryce, if Bryce got to hear it. So if you're friends with Price, make sure he got to hear it.
Starting point is 00:30:49 If he hasn't heard it when he comes tonight, I'll play it for him by the phone. I know Warren Peace, the DJ at Rupp. I'll make sure he plays it tonight as he walks to his seat. That would be nice. Okay, go ahead. Hey, Matt, how are you? Good. What's up?
Starting point is 00:31:01 Hey Matt, I had an eyewitness at the high school game in New Jersey last night. He's an ex-referee, and he was just there watching the game. He said he's never seen anything like it. There was no monitor. What happened was the ball was clearly out of the kid's hand with about four to five-tenths of a second left on the clock. The trail official came in and said, good basket. The other guy stood there a little confused. The team that supposedly won ran out on the court, celebrating, obviously.
Starting point is 00:31:40 And all of a sudden, an African-American gentleman with a state sweatshirt kind of sauntered on the court. And there was no monitor. They didn't look at a monitor. There was a brief discussion in this fourth party, because there were three officials, guy got involved and he wasn't talking to the official that counted the basket that was clearly good. He was in the ear of the other African-American officials. Oh, okay. Stop with the race of the officials don't matter.
Starting point is 00:32:16 But in terms of the, yeah, I don't want to know. It doesn't matter. In terms of the person, you're saying someone off the court is who told them to reverse it? Well, the reason I'm bringing up the African-American. I don't care. I don't care. Go ahead. I'm just asking you if he did it.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Yes. But Camden High School, if you have any knowledge about that, where Wagner and Bradshaw played, they've been in numerous controversies over the year. Well, listen. To the point where they got kicked out of the state tournament last year. Yeah, I do remember that. Well, I appreciate the call. That is, that's unfortunate.
Starting point is 00:32:56 If somebody from off the court comes in and, uh, and, uh, and says, and reverses it. And he cleared it up. There was no monitors. So they had to make the decision just based on what they thought they saw. Yeah. Well, that's even worse. Well, I don't know if it's worse or not.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Because if they had seen the monitor and reversed it, then I would just think they're idiots. This makes it sound like maybe they're corrupt. Maybe ask if anybody got it on their phone, you know? Yeah. That's the thing. Like, in today's world, do you not think we can see it? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:33:28 That one was very obvious. It wasn't like a close. call and they lean the wrong direction. And it also makes it to where, I mean, we wouldn't be talking about a high school game in New Jersey unless they really screwed up. Like, it's a good way to put the nation's attention on you, you know? We've got to find out who this mystery fourth party is if the officials didn't even get to make the final call.
Starting point is 00:33:46 Maybe they had like a head of ESPN t-shirt. It's coming down and making decisions. It said head of ESPN. I don't know what you want me to do. Who's next, Shannon? Let's go to Doug. Doug, how are you, Doug? doing good Matt
Starting point is 00:34:00 with the region basketball tournament starting I thought I'd tell you a quick story about how my best buddy and I changed J-TAC's procedures at the suite 16 for everyone You gotta go quick I'll do it Back of the day we stayed late
Starting point is 00:34:16 One day session come out late Was walking close to the entry exit doors and there's a poster board on the floor I knew what that was Because back then they had every pass they could get in, tacked on these poster boards. And since there's land on the floor like he sat on the sign the other day, we thought it's finders keeper.
Starting point is 00:34:36 So we picked it up and walked out the door. So we didn't have to pay the rest of the state tournament because we had a pass every day. You're a thief, but I understand what it's okay. Listen, you stole. It's all right. I think the statute of limitations is gone. So I think you'll be okay. It's been 20 years, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:56 Yeah, it's been 20 years. I think they'll let you buy. The next year they had the passes taped on the poster roared, but they had a big red mark through every one of them. So you couldn't use them? All right. Yeah, you couldn't use them if it didn't happen. I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:35:10 Are you going to talk about your, you know, sticky fingers? That's been. They weren't really sticky fingers. I'll let the heat down a little longer, just make sure I'm completely out of the water before I confess to any things that I ended up with. You know, Shannon, he almost. through the Greensboro trip under the bus last time, so I didn't know if
Starting point is 00:35:31 that one day in Greensboro may be my favorite day I've ever spent with you guys. We will take a break. Come right back. A.59-280-2287. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. To talk to Matt Jones and the crew, call the Clark's Pump and Shop phone line at 859-28027 or 1-800-606-4263
Starting point is 00:35:52 and send us the Kentucky brandit tweet of the day by tweeting Matt at KY Sports Radio. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287 Draft Kings. You can go to Draft Kings tonight. Get your bets in on the Kentucky game right now. Let's look. Kentucky is a 19-and-a-half-point favorite tonight against Vandy.
Starting point is 00:36:16 Do you like it? That's a lot of points, man. A lot of points against the team that has done kind of well, done pretty well. 18, gone down to 18. It's gone down to 18? Down to 18. Wow. I don't know if I would, I think I may stay away from that.
Starting point is 00:36:32 Obviously, I think Kentucky's going to win, but Vandy just seems to do well against Calipari. I don't know what it is. They have done pretty well against team at home that they don't win. No. They kind of take them right down to, uh, they take them right down to the thing. And then they don't, they don't usually end up winning the game. Well, they spoil senior day last year.
Starting point is 00:36:51 Yeah. That is true. Well, they did, they did do it. They did do senior day last time. Yeah, this time last year they came in here and were underdogs and not Kentucky all. Kentucky's team totals, 89. If we think they're going to go off,
Starting point is 00:37:03 I might go a little over there, not worried about what Van der's doing. I like that over more than I like the 18, to be honest. I usually, when it spreads that big, I find other things, like a team total where I don't have to worry about what Vanderbilt's going to show up. I just know Kentucky can get their points. I do like the over 89.
Starting point is 00:37:20 I feel like we're going to get in the 90s tonight. It looks like DJ is 8.5. What was the stat? If they get over 100 one more time, It's the most in the Cal era. Most in the Cal era. Yeah, most in the most in the Cal era.
Starting point is 00:37:35 59-280-2287. Who's next, Shannon? Let's go to Ander. Andrew. How are you, Ander? How are y'all doing? Good. Y'all already talked about the EKU game or not? We did, yes.
Starting point is 00:37:51 So I went to the Jacksonville, Kennesaw State game on Monday night, and there was, like, nobody there. and I just threw $10 on Baxville just for whatever. And they won, obviously. And one of the players of the team or one of the family members of the team bought me a ticket for the game last night, right behind the Jacksonville bench. And it was just such a great experience, rooting for the Dolphins. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:38:16 So you were at the game. You had to be one of six people at the game cheering for Jacksonville. Yeah. And I was like right across from the E.KU student section. And they have this girl named Donna, who's like their. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. We know Donna.
Starting point is 00:38:30 And, yeah, we were chirped in her all game. It was a great time. What? But I love EKU, but it was just go dolphins, baby. It's a great story in the Aeson. Who's Donna? She's a famous fan. What is she?
Starting point is 00:38:41 I don't know. And she goes ballistic during the game, screaming for EKU. Really? Yeah. Yeah, she's famous. Is she? Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:50 And so she gets really loud. Oh, very loud. Yeah. Men's game, women's games, UKU football. She's in it. Huh. Well, there you go. the Donna.
Starting point is 00:39:01 Donna. All right, well, unfortunately for Donna, they took the loss last night. By the way, I found out somebody listening works, appreciate the call, Andrew, works for the OVC,
Starting point is 00:39:12 and so now I got my setup for Friday night. I'm going to Friday night at the OBC tournament in Evansville. Yeah? Yeah. I would love to go to that. I've not been to the Ford Center.
Starting point is 00:39:23 You're going to go? I can probably get a third ticket. Me, you and Duncan? Like bros? You can ride with me. You go to all your hot spots in it. Are you coming back? I wasn't going to come all the way to Lexington, but I mean, if you're here, I would get some
Starting point is 00:39:35 GD Ritzies. Let me work on that. If you would like to go. Go to Green River Road. Like, you don't. Since you didn't invite me over to the Super Bowl, I felt like there was some kind of tension. Like, I mean, you said, you said, you want to watch Super Bowl and then just never called, and then I asked what you did, and you said, well, I watched the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:39:53 Yeah, it's been on my mind. Maybe we need a bro trip to Evansville. See, Duncan? Go my old stop. Do you know who Duncan is? I've made him a couple times. Okay. I just wanted to make sure.
Starting point is 00:40:02 You like that. Yeah, he's a good dude. Duncan's the funniest, like, low-key. Like, he did, you know, he's not, he's not telling the person, like, not loud, but he's got, he's funny. You take him to Eastland Mall, show Matt, all the, all the places? Yeah, we might go to our Charlie's before. Take a old news station we used to work. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:40:19 Joseph. Joseph. How are you, Joseph? I didn't think about the fact he'll know everybody there. I didn't think about that. Go ahead, Joseph. He might be the why. Hey, it's March and things are about to get real serious.
Starting point is 00:40:32 This is the time of the year where the goods separate from the bad, contenders and pretenders. That's true. So what are we, contenders or pretenders heading into the conference in NCAA? We're definitely a contender. I mean, I was on ESPN Monday night, and I was talking about, I appreciate to call my five teams for the tournament. And I am really close to putting Kentucky in the five. I mean, you know, it's always tough because, like, I'm biased, and sometimes I waste a spot on them just because I'm in my heart want them to win.
Starting point is 00:41:07 But I'm putting Houston in. I'm putting Yukon in, certainly. I'm likely putting Purdue in, even though I don't really believe in them, but, like, they have the profile of a team like Virginia when they won that year. That's three. It's three. I'm probably putting North Carolina in just because I think they got so many guys and they've been through it. So then what's the fifth?
Starting point is 00:41:32 I always kind of thought it was going to be Kansas, but they've just lost so much. It's hard to see them rolling. Duke's playing well, but I don't think they're good enough to win it. And then, so to me, the last one is like Kentucky or Tennessee, to be honest with you. As much as I hate to say it, Tennessee's been good. I want to see what happens tonight. If Tennessee goes and wins on the road at South Carolina, I think that's an impressive win when you consider what's at stake,
Starting point is 00:41:58 and then I want to see what happens Saturday when we play it. But, you know, let's say we beat Tennessee Saturday in Knoxville. I may put Drew Kentucky as my fifth team in there, because they got too many guys to leave them out. You know what I mean? I agree, and I think Tennessee is going to be a one seed unless Kentucky pulls off that upset. So in my mind, you're going down there
Starting point is 00:42:20 and you're beating a one seed on their own. floor on their senior day. If Tennessee beat South Carolina and Kentucky and doesn't lose early in the SEC, they're going to be a one seat. Yeah. So, I mean, you're already beating one of the toughest teams that'll be in the bracket in an environment you won't ever have to face a team in. And that's one of the things to also think about if you're thinking about where Kentucky's going to end up. I like, you know, I'm a bracket nerd, so I'll just go through it real quick. Purdue's going to be the one seed in the Detroit region. UConn's going to be the one seed in the Boston region. Is Dallas the one of them or is it Houston? What's the third one?
Starting point is 00:42:52 Not sure. Well, Houston will be whatever that region is. Yeah. And then the West will be the fourth one. If Tennessee gets that and they're the one seed in the West, then they're not going to put us out west. Right? So we're not going to go to L.A.
Starting point is 00:43:06 They will not put – I would be shocked if they put us in the same bracket with Tennessee. So that means you're getting Purdue, Houston, or Yukon. Which means you're going to be on this side of the country if you go, which I think Drew is good for us. Now, if Arizona ends up that one seed, they might put us out. there and then we might be on the west coast. I'm going to avoid the West Coast just because it's been so long since Kentucky fans have had a March run.
Starting point is 00:43:31 I want to get as many fans in that building and can enjoy whatever this route is going to be as we can, and that keeps on this coast. But I do worry about playing a Yukon in a Boston situation. That would be awful. I'd rather play in Alaska than play Yukon in the Northeast. I mean, people don't realize how many Yukon fans there are, and they're the worst. And they're all, like Boston is the biggest place for them, even though it's not in Connecticut. Like they just, they will pack that place.
Starting point is 00:43:58 Yes. As someone who has been punched in the mouth by a Yukon fan, I would not like to see them on their own territory in the second weekend. Drew, they want you to make a same game parley. Since you won last time. Will you do it after the show? Yes. Do it. Keep the heater going.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Do it and send it to me when you're done and we'll get it up there. So be watching for that. At one last time, we're on our streak.
