Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome everyone, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Listen to that crowd here.
Friday, March the 8th at Appalachian Rose Farm here in Wolf County, Rogers, Kentucky,
right off the Red River Gorge.
an absolutely beautiful part of our state.
And we are glad to be here on the final Friday before the SEC tournament
and before four straight weeks on the road.
We are excited to be here.
You can shout 859-280-2287 on the Clark's Puppet Shop phone line.
A Vision Auto Glass text machine is 772-745254.
And this edition sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office,
you call T.J. He'll make them pay.
I've got Ryan, Drew, and Shannon.
and we are here at an absolutely beautiful building off the,
I guess you go down to Mountain Parkway, right?
Yes.
When you get into Wolf County, you get off the Parkway and go back into this,
I don't know, it's not a holler exactly,
but back into this little area and you find this sort of a little slice of heaven
they have back here with the Appalachian Rose Farm and a new greenhouse
that I don't think, Ryan, I've ever seen a building like that.
I mean, I've seen a greenhouse before.
but that you could have an event in, like a wedding or something like that,
with it being very open, a very cool place.
You know, there's a reason why thousands of people come to the gorge every year,
because it's beautiful, and you're looking to get away something.
This is a nice, awesome area out here.
They've got these great venues for weddings and events.
Go check it out.
It's owned by Jenny Thacker, where they do events.
They'll do weddings here, rehearsal dinners, etc.
And they also will do the catering and all that.
I have to admit, Jenny, like me trying to explain what wedding planning,
events are is probably not the best. But I do have Harper Hall and I will say this place is
amazing. As somebody who's had to be part of one of these, what they've done out here in like
a rural setting is pretty awesome. I'm a bit of an expert, unfortunately, I toured 23 venues before
we picked one. You saw you tour 23 venues. Buddy, I can tell you all about the Kentucky wedding
venues and I'll say, this is one of the nicest I've seen. Abby even told me when I was leaving
this morning, she's like, I looked up that place you're going to. It's really nice. So this one
Definitely sticks out.
And then Billy stayed in a cabin here last night.
Billy takes advantage of all the free things.
Like if they say to us, hey, you can do this for free the night before.
Billy is there every single time.
That's the way you do radio, right?
That's the great thing about working in radio is all the perks.
You're pretty big about that too.
Free tickets, absolutely.
I haven't paid for a concert ticket in 20 years.
$2 off subway.
Absolutely.
That's T-Mobile.
That's a different thing.
Yeah, I'll take my $2 coupon.
Yeah.
Well, it's very nice to be here.
So if you have any event planning needs or just want to get away from the city, Appalachian Rose Farm,
look it up online and you will learn more.
Now, yesterday, this is a perfect example of how you can prepare for a show and you can like study statistics
and you can look up all this stuff and then it ends up being the case that something you didn't even mean to say ends up being the whole thing.
So I just yesterday was talking about the dude at the burrito place, went to Chipotle.
I decided I didn't want to run into the guy because I had just talked about him and I was
worried he might have heard it.
So I went to a different Chapozo.
I went to the one out in the mall instead of the one that's down Nicholsville Road.
Okay.
And I walked in there and I'm standing in line and the dude behind me just looks at me and goes,
brown rice, black beans chicken.
That's exactly what he said.
And I thought.
All right.
And then all day, and I'm not just saying this, Drew, all day.
People I talked to on the text machine, ran into a person.
They all had the exact same thing.
Matt, you got to get the McDonald's app.
Dude, it's the best.
You got to get the McDonald's app.
It was all McDonald's app.
So this morning I just gave in and downloaded the McDonald's app.
I didn't use it.
I didn't use it, but I'm like, I guess if everybody has to have it,
I guess I'm going to have to get it.
Sometimes things on this show just stick, and we just get a disrepoly.
amount of feedback and yesterday was that with the McDonald's app my phone blew up all day we had a
message board thread on the site only about the McDonald's app I didn't realize it's as popular as it is
I had no idea we were left out I had no idea so for those of you that don't have I mean I'm not doing this
ad because I started it by saying McDonald's app annoys me because they always asked for it and then
but I guess you got to get it Channing because apparently people sent me the deals oh yeah a guy sent
me the deals just available in Somerset really and if I was in
Somerset, put aside the heart attack that you would have if you ate at McDonald's every day.
You could eat for like $1.50 every single day.
Why would you not do that?
I mean, I didn't even realize it, but I have the McDonald's app.
Forgot that I even had it.
Don't never use it.
I don't know how I get points, but somehow I've got 458 points.
Look at that.
You have 450?
I don't even know how I have it.
Like, how do they know?
Oh, see, now that's scary.
Like, I don't remember checking in with the app when I go.
Oh, that's scary.
Is it like geotaggy or something?
Or how does that work?
Now that worries me a little bit.
Speaking of that, a whole thing, I saw that the House of Representatives passed 58 to nothing to maybe tell TikTok to go away.
So you better watch your videos now, Drew.
Because there may be, there may be no TikTok here very soon.
You know, they've been talking about that forever, but it seems there's that and there actually might be the ball.
Actually might be moving on that.
And that makes me think maybe they've seen all of us naked or something.
Because what are you doing on TikTok?
Well, I feel like I've seen you naked.
Not one time in my life have I been naked on TikTok.
Just, you know.
in my house.
859-28027.
We are here in Wolf County, and tomorrow, Kentucky ends the regular season.
It is now time for March.
Hopefully we will have four straight weekends of massive tournaments starting next weekend.
But this weekend playing at Tennessee in a game that is meaningless for Tennessee in terms of winning the SEC,
but they still have a chance at a one seat.
And then for us, a huge difference.
It's probably the potential if we win, we likely will be a two-seat,
maybe couldn't ask for a better bracket than what we would get.
And if we lose, we might have to play on Thursday for only the second time
in the history of Kentucky Basset.
Kentucky has only played on Thursday since they restarted the SEC tournament one time,
one time in our, which is an amazing statistic.
But they might have to do it this week if we don't end up winning tomorrow.
So, Ryan, a big game in Knoxville.
It's crazy how Feaster Fame in this game is tomorrow.
You get that second seed, and it's a great bracket.
You've got a lot of powerhouses on the other side of the bracket.
But you lose, you get stuck playing on Thursday.
You have to win four games in a row.
And maybe the hardest bracket you could get.
That's true.
Literally, you win, then you play the winner of like Old Miss, Texas A&M,
and then you probably get Alabama.
The team that you, of all the powers, maybe match up with the best.
If you lose, you may end up.
up going Arkansas who could beat you.
I mean, they played us pretty good there, then Auburn, then Tennessee, and then Alabama.
I mean, like, it would be such a worse bracket for us if we're not able to win tomorrow.
I mean, of all the potential Thursday opponents, I don't really worry about any of them,
but I would hate to see Arkansas because that is one that could, the way they play, they could
upset you, like we said before the game at Rupp.
If they decide they want to be a team and play for 40 minutes, they're down to.
enough to still knock off some good opponents.
And then a Friday quarter final game against Auburn?
I mean, you know, Auburn's statistically one of the best teams in the SEC.
They've struggled here in the last few weeks.
But now, let me give the counter to that.
If you were to go through and beat Arkansas and beat Auburn and beat Tennessee to get to finals,
I think at that point, you're knocking on the door to 2C there all of a sudden.
So, like, there is a world in which you can make it work for you.
But if you actually want to win the SEC tournament, Shannon,
I almost look at the Tennessee game almost as a first round game
because you're almost playing yourself into position where you could win the...
And if you ask fans, would you rather be that Thursday five-seed,
build your resume and have a higher seat in the NCAA tournament
or win the SEC tournament?
I think fans are going to take the SEC tournament win all day, right?
Well, I think part of it is we haven't won it in a while.
I mean, we haven't had...
When was last time we won the SEC tournament?
I want to say maybe in Shea.
No, it's been that long.
No, we won it with Fox, Bam, and Moop, and Bam.
I feel like we might have won it once since then, too.
But whereas we used to Drew win it every single year,
in the last four years, we've only won one game in the combination of those years.
And if they don't make Sunday, it'll be the longest drought in Kentucky's history
that they haven't played in the SEC championship.
Is that right?
There was a run.
I think we're tied with a run in the early 2000s right now.
Maybe don't have the exact years, but it will,
it will be the longest drought without even playing for the championship.
So let's talk about Knoxville.
We have actually, Ryan, had a lot of success in Knoxville in recent years,
all things considered.
They've played us better and rough than we've than probably any other team.
But we've actually played them pretty well in Knoxville.
Beat them at some times that I don't think anybody thought we'd win.
Beat them last year, not sure anybody thought we'd win.
Beat them the COVID year, not sure anybody thought we'd win.
This year, I think I don't think the spreads out yet,
but I think it's going to end up being six, six and a half, something like that.
Do you feel like you've got another victory down there in us?
It is crazy how going down there they seem to play their better basketball against
Tennessee than they do in their own home floor.
But that's been the case in the recent years.
And now Caliperi, this is kind of when he's at his best,
when nobody expects him to win and he feels disrespectful.
But I don't think it's like that.
I don't think this is like those games where nobody expects us to win.
I think we go in with people thinking we have a shot.
Do you disagree?
No, I'm just saying they're going to be the underdog,
and he'll use that to his advantage.
And this seems to be when he gets his guys to play their best on the road.
I didn't think they were going to win at Auburn.
They went down there and won that game at Auburn.
Well, I think last year, Drew, they were like a 9 or 10.
11.
Yeah, they were a huge underdog.
I don't feel like that this time.
No, I'm going to pick a loss, I'm sure,
but I think it's going to be a very good game.
I don't think it'll be, you know, when Tennessee came in here,
in Rupp Arena earlier this season, they led for 39 minutes and 45 seconds.
They scored right away and it was over.
I don't think we'll see that again.
I think Kentucky's going to put up a much better fight.
I just think it's a lot to ask in that atmosphere.
You've been really pessimistic, Shannon, in all the games this year.
I think you've picked Kentucky like twice in the last nine or ten games.
I think I picked UNC Wilmington over.
No, you did not.
But are you pessimistic about this one?
I mean, so like if you were to go through us, Drew's probably been, well, all of you have been
We've all been harsh.
But I think I've been a little more positive in Drew.
Ryan took a little long, but I always feel like you're the holdout here.
Are you at all starting to feel positive about the team?
Or are you still not, are you still skeptical?
Yeah, I feel like this team can make a strong tournament run.
I don't feel great about the game tomorrow being in Knoxville, to be honest with you.
I mean, if you look at the game at Rupp, their best player, Dalton Connect, I think only had 15 or 16 points.
And it was the other guys that really beat Kentucky.
So maybe they can hold him to not having a great game again
and keep the other guys at bay and possibly pull out of win tomorrow,
but I don't feel great about the game, to be honest with you.
What was surprising about the last game for Tennessee
was all the random dudes that got insanely hot.
They had guys just making shots, but they dominated us.
They led from beginning to end.
You've got to think our dudes have a chip on their shoulder about that.
I hope so.
It wasn't even the scoring.
Kentucky didn't look like they should have been playing that game
against Tennessee. They were shoving them around.
They were more physical. They're flexing in their face.
The catch just got absolutely bullied.
I don't think that'll happen again.
I don't think they'll hold Connect like they did.
But that was the game, Chin Coleman said,
we're going to keep the irrelevant people irrelevant,
and they stopped Connect.
But then Ziegler and Jordan Josiah James had 26 each.
You can't let that happen if you stop Connect.
You can't let other two guys combined for 52 while you're stopping.
That's why they lost.
Yeah.
Is that these other guys just took them.
and, you know, we're able to dominate them.
I hate to say this because nobody in the world hates Tennessee more than I do.
With that said, I think Tennessee is now one of the four best teams in the country at this point.
I think it's Connecticut, Houston, Purdue, and Tennessee.
And if you look across the country right now, the teams that I think have moved to another level
have gone and won pretty impressive games, right?
Houston has won two road games dominating.
Connecticut just won at Marquette the other night, right?
Purdue has gone on the road and won three or four in a row on the road.
Tennessee wants to be in that group.
But if we can beat them on the road, to me, Ryan, that says if we're not in that group,
we're just below them and we've got a shot.
I agree.
Because these teams that have a shot are all making a move right now.
Tennessee just look good if they beat South Carolina just this week, you know?
So they're playing well.
That's why they're in contention for a number one seed.
You're right.
I don't know what it is.
Rick Barnes seems to do well against Calopary also.
But not down there.
Not down there.
Down there, we've done a pretty good job.
859-280-2287.
Who are the famous Wolf County?
Oh, boy.
Come on.
You guys have somebody famous, right?
Old man, Johnny Wolf.
No jokes.
Anybody?
Anybody?
Anybody?
Who played for Alabama?
Jimmy Holland.
Jimmy Holland played for Alabama.
That's who we're going with.
All right, then Jimmy Holland is from here in Wolf County.
I'm going to look it up because I know there's another one here somewhere,
but we will take a break and be right back.

Welcome back here at Kentucky Sports Radio
live at Appalachian Rose Farm.
I got somebody we forgot.
Our friend is from here, Tyler Booth.
Who's been at KS. Bar?
hung out with us.
I was at his concert Saturday night.
You know who else was at his concert Saturday night?
Reed Shepherd, Jeff Shepard,
Stacey Reed Shepard.
All of them were there at Manchester Music Hall Saturday night.
He's from Campton, Kentucky.
Right there in Wolf County.
There we go.
Yeah.
rising star in the country music world would reid walk right off the court and across the street and
read was there it was i was i will say this about reed shepherd man i i don't i've seen players
that are good with fans oscar was always really good fans like he would he would talk to people
i don't think i've ever seen one though that like is almost exhaustingly good with fans like
i mean he's sitting there trying to watch the concert he is behind like this little like rope
you know, towards the front of the stage,
people are all coming to the rope,
and he's sitting there trying to listen,
and they're just like, come here, come here,
and he did it every time with a smile on his face,
every single time,
and I thought, man, I don't know how he does this,
because, like, that's got to be everywhere he goes.
And then, you know, there was a picture.
I don't know if you saw this picture the other night.
He was at Rupp Arena until 1230,
taking pictures with people out in the stands.
Until 1230, the game ended up.
like 11. He was there to 12. The picture of him taking pictures with kids, who I don't know what
they're doing up at 1230, but the pictures, like the lights are out behind him. Like they had already
Drew turned the lights out and he is still taking pictures with people. Yeah, for with Oscar and
then this team, they've always done it courtside. You just get what you can here lately in that one
Wednesday night. Reed is up at the concourse by the concession stand just with a crowd around
him and he took a picture with every single one of them
probably talked to him a little bit. I mean,
it's got to be exhausting on him.
Do you think, Shannon, you would enjoy
being like that?
No, no. That's exhausting.
Just hearing you talk about it
that they have to go through, I mean, that many fans
and shake hands and pictures.
I mean, I can handle it, I guess, to a certain degree,
but not like that.
I'm glad I'm not that level of famous.
If I were to rank the KSR people
in terms of enjoyment of taking pictures with people.
Ryan is certainly number one.
Ryan will photo bomb your picture
when you don't want them in your picture.
Ryan is by far number one.
I would say Drew's number two.
I'll be three.
You are long distance number four.
Yeah, I'm not really a picture person.
Don't really like it.
Don't really enjoy it.
I'll take a picture with you if you want.
If you are a KSR fan who has a one-on-one picture with Shannon,
that is a rarity.
That's like having the Holness Wagner baseball.
It is, yeah.
Mink condition.
There's just not there.
There are not many of those that are out there.
Let's talk about the NCAA tournament seed real quick before we go to the phones.
So Kentucky is now in Joe Lenardi's bracket.
The highest number three seat.
I mean, just not that long ago they were five.
Now they are the highest number three.
I think if you beat Tennessee, that's clearly a good win.
Looking at his numbers, I think we're.
probably still a ways away from getting to a two. I think he kind of has the eight teams
sort of ahead of us by a decent little mark. But I also think that even if we lose Saturday,
as long as we don't flame out in the SEC tournament, I think getting a three seed is a very,
very likely scenario for Kentucky unless they were to lose to like Arkansas or something in the
first round of tournament. Yeah, I think so too. That's why tomorrow is pretty unique for me. It's
Tennessee. I hate them. I want Kentucky to beat them every game. But you know, if Kentucky
Kentucky goes down there and loses by three, that is not going to change my outlook whatsoever on what the team can do.
It's not going to change the seating.
If anything, maybe taking one last loss on an inconsistent team like this might give them a little boost to go on a run.
I want to beat Tennessee.
I'm just saying it feels like more of a house money game than in past years because it won't, like if they go and barring something crazy,
it's not going to change what I think of how good Kentucky is.
One of the things also to remember, and this, I don't know that I completely processed this,
but it's also something to remember for next year.
The net, which is one of the, like, three things the NCAA tournament uses to seed.
Your margin of victory or margin of loss matters.
Like, they have made that an important thing.
So we need to remember that next year.
When you're playing a terrible team, it's not just important you win.
You actually need to blow them out.
Like, you actually need to beat them by a substantial margin because it matters.
I say all that to say, if we were to lose, Ryan,
let's lose a close game.
Like the only thing that could hurt us is if we went down there and lost by like 15,
but I feel like we're going to score so much, that's just not going to have.
That is true, yeah.
They may lose the game, but they may be 99-96 on the on tomorrow.
You know, Kentucky is one fluke last second shot by LSU from winning seven games in a row.
You know, that fluke he lost on his LSU,
kept them from getting a seven-game winning streak here right at the end of the season.
So that's why I think there's a lot of momentum on Kentucky side right now.
That's another thing.
They no longer, though, consider like, how'd you do in your last 10 games?
That used to be something they do.
They don't do that anymore.
And when you're thinking about the SEC tournament, another thing to remember, the NCAA does not say, well, you made the finals.
All they care about is, who did you beat?
So in the SEC tournament, you're almost better off playing a good team when it comes to the NCAA tournament.
So, for instance, let's say Auburn were to be upset by, you know, Ole Miss.
We'd like that, but that actually does not help our NCAA tournament resume,
because it'd be a lot better to play Auburn than it would be to play Ole Miss.
Yeah, in some ways the path that we don't want because of the difficulty, it could help your seating,
especially if there's an Alabama or an Auburn because you're kind of against them in seating.
Tennessee, I don't think you're ever going to catch at this point.
But if you played them head-to-head early enough in the tournament, that could put you over them.
I actually think that's a really good point.
Auburn, Kentucky,
Auburn and Kentucky especially are fighting for like the same seat.
If we were to match up with them and play them,
it might be to actually get a good seat
or to play a game closer to home.
Who's up next?
Eric.
Eric, go ahead, Eric.
Good morning, gentlemen.
It's nice to talk to you this morning.
Good morning.
I was lucky enough to win those tickets to the Ole Miss game
at Wednesday night when I called in.
And I wanted to thank you,
guys specifically because I've had good experiences at Rupp Arena but that was by far the best
experience I got to sit next to two old miss fans and they were just the nicest people you ever met
they were they didn't even want to cross over in front of us to go to the bathroom because they felt
like they were putting me and my daughter out and we were right on the end of the I like that by the way
anyway I the people who the people I understand sometimes the people in the middle of the row shannon
and they've got to walk out.
People who will be like, last time, and then they step over you,
and then they come back and they go, I promise, just one more time.
I'm with you.
If somebody stays in their seat in a thing, I'm a huge fan of that.
Well, they saw the, they'd rather be.
They saw the ice cream thing, and they didn't want to get up and get ice cream.
So I wouldn't bought them a couple of ice cream cones.
Well, that is very nice of you.
Well, thank you very much, and I appreciate it.
glad you had a good time at the game. The Commonwealth causes people who've been with us all year
have done an amazing job. I mean, they give, when we give tickets away from them, they're the
ones that gave the firefighter the tickets. When they give tickets away, they're not just tickets.
They're like amazing tickets. Those those dudes and the NIL, they have an amazing set of tickets.
859-28027. We are here at Appalachian Rose Farm in Wolf County in Rogers, Kentucky. We'll be right back
Let's KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio here at Appalachian Rose Farm,
located right next to Red River Gorge.
They got vendors.
If you want to have a wedding here,
they do all the planning and coordinating.
It's a great place.
Beautiful, this new greenhouse area.
We're having some food here in a minute from Miguel's Pizza
and Red Point Barbecue.
you so thanks for them for sending it looking forward to tasting both of that I will say we are here in wolf county so I would be remiss if I didn't say this the wolf county this is for all of our local listeners and people in the area go ahead and turn that down Ian wolf county's board of education just sent this out all local schools are on quote hard lockdown due to an incident in the area there's a suspect at large in a white Chevy pickup truck and the schools no one in
or out right now at all Wolf County schools.
So I don't mean to be a bearer of bad news,
but I feel like since we are here,
that's worth mentioning.
And obviously, our prayers,
we hope everything is okay here in Wolf County.
Yeah, you turn up here at the Rogers Elementary School.
That's literally right.
That's true.
That was right there.
Uh-huh.
So prayers to everybody.
Hope everything is okay.
A-59-280-2287.
I'd be remiss if I also didn't note that Transylvania,
the women's team goes for wins 63 in a row tonight.
Tonight in Whitewater, Wisconsin, they play a different Wisconsin.
They play like Wisconsin Crap Town or something.
And then if they win, they'll play Whitewater,
but they play tonight at I think 6 o'clock.
I want them to win.
I mean, I already wanted to win because they're transi.
but the fact that they have to play on the road,
please win these two,
so it doesn't have to end like that
because the NCAA absolutely hosed them
by making them travel.
Just as we learned, save a few bucks,
it sounds like with their rules.
Apparently the rule is like 500 miles.
So NCAA, I may have said this the other day,
but if they're 500 miles away,
the NCAA will pay your expenses.
For the team for Transi that plays tonight,
they would be 518 miles away from trancy.
So in order to not pay for that team to play,
Shannon, they made trancy go up to Wisconsin.
What a bunch of cheap skates, right?
I mean, come on.
We're talking about 18 miles difference because of that.
And you're the NCAA and multi-billion-dollar corporation.
And you won't pay.
And all this money, all these TV deals and stuff they're making money from.
And then basically you're making, so the team that ends up having to pay
is transit.
Yeah.
Like because, like,
trancy is the one who will have to pay to go there
rather than the NCAA paying for that,
bringing that team here.
Does the NCAA get anything right?
I mean, it feels like if they can do wrong,
they do every single time.
It does feel like whatever the decision is that you should make.
Right.
They always make the other one.
I mean, you know, just a few seasons ago,
they were showing the difference between the men's facilities
they get it on the road for the NCAA tournament
versus the women's.
It's like, how has this not been brought up already, you know, before just a couple of years ago?
It's crazy.
It's their defending champion.
It's not the 12th seat.
So hopefully they get the win.
I don't know if you saw this either yesterday.
And by the way, a couple open lines, 859-28027.
Indiana had one player committed to them for next year.
One.
However, he was the 13th ranked player in America.
Yep.
One of the highest ranked recruits Indiana's gotten in.
years. Yesterday he decommitted from Indiana. Most people think he is now going to go to Kansas.
Bill Self swooped in and got him. The day after they announced that Mike Woodson is coming back,
their one recruit they had coming decides he's leaving. They now have zero recruits for the year
and a coach that's been awful for the last two season as a former Indiana fan. Are you excited about the
state of who's your basketball?
I don't think that's any coincidence that the day after they announced that Woodson's coming back for a fourth season,
this recruit decommits.
I think that's pretty.
But he committed originally to Woodson.
Yeah, but I think he's seen how the team is gone, how they played.
I mean, we saw him.
I mean, there's not a lot of talent that they got one good player this year and have struggled mainly all season.
It's interesting.
So you think that he would have stayed not even knowing who the future coach may have been?
Nobody.
Yeah.
I think that's hilarious.
You know what?
I'd be happier with nobody.
then I would be if Mike Woodson comes back.
Wow.
Yeah, 859-280-2287.
It is amazing to have seen how Indiana basketball has fallen.
I mean, absolutely like an irrelevant program after, you know, for people here that are older than 40,
Indiana was one of the four best programs in the country.
And they are literally irrelevant now in college basketball and have been for 25 years.
I'm a big college basketball fan.
Part of my job is keeping up with it.
I actually forget Indiana exists and tell their stories like this.
There's never an Indiana, you know, something national written.
Look how good they're doing.
Look at this.
It's they don't have recruits or it's Mike Woodson saying the future of the game is inside out.
The only time they pop up is they're getting made fun of or dunked on.
Yeah, who's up next?
Jeff.
Jeff.
Jeff, go ahead, Jeff.
Hey, man, that's Jeff and Boston.
How are you doing today?
Doing good.
What's up?
All right, I got two quick.
things kind of about this basketball team coming up here. And I know y'all just talked about this,
but with us being like a low, like a high three seed, a low four seed right now,
if Kentucky were to win out, including the SEC tournament and this Tennessee game,
do you think this team has the upward mobility to make it to a two seed?
Possibly, Drew, possibly. I mean, all right, so I'm going to pull up Joe Lenardi's,
and here's the thing about Joe Lenardi. Whatever people think about him, he tends to be pretty close.
He has Kentucky right now.
He has Kentucky as the highest four.
The threes are Baylor, Creighton, Kansas, and Marquette.
Kansas plays against at Houston, I think, or, yeah, at Houston.
Good chance they lose that game.
Oh, yeah.
Then you have Marquette just lost, Baylor and Creighton.
So I think you would sit there and look, if you want Kentucky to get a three,
and then the lowest two is Duke, they play Carolina on Saturday.
So if you want to see us move up to a three or at least a two,
you would like to see Drew Duke, Baylor, Creighton, Kansas, Marquette.
Those teams take losses.
It would be especially good if one of those teams would lose early in their conference tournaments.
Kansas especially, they're going the wrong way.
They could easily do it.
The path the caller mentioned where you beat Tennessee and then go all the way to Sunday at the SEC,
that might be enough because assuming you beat in Auburn, Alabama,
maybe you can beat Tennessee to get there.
but that's a big ass to win in Knoxville
then run through the SEC tournament. But that would put them
in the two conversations. Yeah, I'm sitting here looking at
Clayton plays at Villanova.
Creighton's two spots ahead of us.
You lose that game and we
beat Tennessee? Yeah.
Maybe you jump into
a three seat. Duke hosts
North Carolina, so we probably need
to pull for North Carolina in that game.
Kansas is at Houston. If they lose,
that won't kill them. But here's one.
Marquette is just ahead of us.
At Xavier.
Xavier stinks.
If we could get Xavier to somehow upset them, that would be good for us, Drew, as well.
Yeah, for the last couple weeks, it's been hard to follow what Kentucky needs,
but now it's right in front of us.
We root against the few that are ahead of us in the seating,
and then it's right, it starts after tomorrow.
859-280-2287.
I'm sitting here looking at your things.
Let's go to clear-cut hero drink.
We did our commercial a couple days ago.
How did you think it went out?
I mean, I feel like they should put it to Super Bowl next year.
Yes, Billy was in it.
It was wonderful.
Clear-cut Hero.
First of its kind, hydration drink.
Great taste, balance electrolytes, no artificial ingredient.
And it has great flavors, lemon, lime, orange.
I like the cosmic blue raz, the mango fruit punch.
It's all there.
And then Dragon Fruit.
It's Clear Cut Hero.
There's one at your local, they're having it local Kroger or on Amazon.
It is my sports drink of choice.
Try a clear-cut hero.
We will take a break and be right back here in Wolf County.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
859-280-2287. All across, we are here at Appalachian Rose Farm, event space. They've got some glasses for folks. We've got a few left.
if you decide to come and join us.
What's the address here again?
Glen Karen Road.
Yeah, 400.
400.
400.
Glenn Karen Road.
It's back off the road.
You go through some gravels.
It is a nice getaway.
I can see why it would be very peaceful out this way.
If you were to stay, Billy stayed here last night.
He takes it a wall.
Are you going to the SEC tournament, Billy or no?
Oh, you got to produce.
He's got to work.
Yeah, back in the studio.
That's right.
Did you all see, Drew, the Oakland basketball game last night?
I did not see the Oakland basketball game last night.
For people who don't know, Oakland, Michigan, their whole thing is that they've got like a wild fan base.
Like the student section is wild.
They do crazy stuff.
So it's a conference tournament.
It's on their home court.
They have like three dudes out there.
Like, I don't know if they're swimmers, but they're wearing like swimming speedos, right?
And they're yelling and screaming.
One of the, so during free throws, they try to do creativity.
creative stuff. And, you know, I've watched them before. Sometimes it's creative. Sometimes it's not.
But I got to give them credit for what they did last night. A dude in the middle of a guy
shooting free throws, the entire second half, he gets a tattoo live on his arm.
Wow. Not kidding you. He's standing there the entire second half, just standing there,
and there's a guy giving him a tattoo the entire second half. I don't know how distracting that is
for the free throw shooter, but I have to tell you, Drew, that's one of the more
creative things I've seen a student section do get a tattoo during the game.
That's intense. That would throw me off and I'm a lights out shooter. I mean, now the
guys got to live with that though. I believe it was Oakland, but the same student section a few
weeks ago, they were shaving their heads. Yeah. Yeah. It's like Jack, you're trying to shoot
and there's a guy just shaving his own head staring at you. I mean, that is intimidating.
They call it the Oakland Zoo. Northern Kentucky pulled an upset last night. Beating right
state. So Northern Kentucky moves to the semifinals of their conference.
Morehead State won their game last night. So they will move to, well, yeah, that's right here.
Yeah, right here.
Local school a lot more.
They play tonight, I'm going to the game.
They play U.T. Martin tonight in the semifinals of the OBC.
Will you be getting a two maybe?
Shake your head.
Shake your head.
And neither of those.
Well, I do love the OVC tournament.
I'm not sure either of those are going to be what I do.
But the local schools play well.
And then what's happened with Western?
Are they, is that, do they have a team this year, Billy?
They're in the sub-belt, right?
How could you not know what a conference they're in?
You went to the.
Oh, they got rejected from?
Don't forget Dante Allen on that team.
Yes.
So anyway, they play, I guess their conference tournament is that.
I'll add northern Kentucky last night.
Cal might bring this up, but the other team fouled up.
three and Northern got the rebound, you know, pulled it off the unthinkable.
So it actually went the other way last night in the Northern game.
Got the rebound and sent it to overtime?
Yeah, what we have said in the past, you want Cal to do.
The other team did that, and Northern ended up forcing overtime.
It blew up on them.
It didn't blow.
It did.
It forced overtime.
It's a numbers game.
I'm just given the other side.
It happened.
Who's up next?
Bill.
Bill, go ahead, Bill.
Hey, Matt, I heard your comments about Reed Shepard, and I agree 100%.
Two points I'd like to make.
I think stuff like that demonstrates Reed is the epitome of Kentucky basketball.
The epitome.
Second point I want to throw at you is I think Jeff and Stacey Shepard ought to get a pat on the back for raising
Jeff or Reed that way.
He didn't learn this overnight.
He was raised that way,
and I think Jeff at safety deserve a pat on the back
for what they did.
And last thing is, I enjoy your show.
I drive around Kentucky quite a bit,
and I listen to it every morning,
and just keep up the good work and have a great day.
Thank you very much, sir.
I agree with everything you said.
I would say this.
Reed is awesome.
He's not, but, and what he, what he did was, is very, very cool.
But I also don't want us to skip Oscar.
Like I said, Oscar used to do the same thing.
There's a lot of kids, there are a lot of kids over the years who've been like that.
What is, I think, unique about Reed is the patience that he shows.
I mean, you know, he's got a lot.
He's got as many people pulling at him, Drew, as anybody I can ever.
I mean, there were guys who were, who were,
had were bigger like stars like John Wall and Anthony Davis but they kind of had people going
giving them some space read I'm not sure I've seen a star that's a bigger star that has less
barriers between him and the fans and I don't know if that's self-decided or what but that's
what's amazing to me is how accessible he is for a dude that is as famous as he is right now
Yeah, part of it, I'm down there after games when he's doing a lot of it.
Part of it, I think half of London is at most of these games, and he knows all of them.
He's hugging everyone like he grew up with them, and I think that's the case.
Also, you got to remember he's doing this, at least the ones after games.
He gets to rub hours before.
He plays nearly 40 minutes of a basketball game.
Man, probably wants his bed and going home at that moment.
That's probably the worst time to approach him, and that's when he's doing the most of it.
And I'll add, Rob Dealingham did the same thing a couple games ago.
I think I said this, but security guard said we've got to stop him,
and Rob's like, no, I'm good.
got this. So it's not just read. This whole team's been very good about it.
CBS Sports, Ryan, put out a mock draft yesterday.
For the first time I've seen this, Rob Dillingham, going number one over those two
Australia. Number one pick in the draft. Would you do that?
He's going to be a star, man. We're watching him to help right in front of our eyes.
And as you pointed out, he's going to be the first collegiate player selected, whether he's
one or three, those other Australian guys, he's going to be the first collegiate player pick.
Would you take him number one?
Yeah, I might.
I mean, the dude is, he's an Alan Iverson in the making, I think.
I mean, to be fair, I've been watching him play all season long.
I haven't seen the other two guys play at all.
Yeah.
But, I mean, he kind of plays an NBA style right now the way.
I mean, you saw that shot, he's off balance, bank shot, off one foot.
He has the most NBA game of anyone we've had since John Wall.
I mean, John Wall had an NBA game.
I think Rob is the most like that since John.
Do you agree?
Yeah, taking him number one, I don't know, but he would be, we would have that conversation if I were a GM.
He would be on my board and I would be thinking long and hard about it.
Right now the guy projected number one in most draft is the former player at Kentucky.
Olivier Saar, it's his brother.
And he plays for a professional team in Australia.
It's him or Dillingham, which is, what's crazy is the idea that we could have two top five picks on this team.
and neither one of them
are.
Yeah. It's crazy.
I mean, that is
unbelievable.
I mean, as good as our bench guys
have been over the years, like Devin Booker,
you know, Devin Booker went what,
12th in the drafts?
The hero went like 15th.
These dudes are top
five, Shannon.
There is something to be said,
I think, about the psychology
of having those guys come off the bench
after you start a game,
you get through that first wave,
you think, okay,
now we're getting into their bench, right?
Well, their bench,
is two top five picks.
But think about how rare top five picks are.
Let's just go through the Calier.
Think about how many dudes we've had get drafted.
All right, how many have gone in the top five?
Wall, actually, Anthony Davis.
Michael Kielkis.
People forget he went in the top five.
Boogie went in the top five.
Nirlens fell out of it.
He was supposed to.
He didn't he drop.
I think he dropped.
He did.
Then you got to go down.
Carl Towns went in the top five.
I don't know if
Murray did or not. He may have he was right on the brink.
Fox Monk and Bam, I don't think any of them went in the top five.
And then I don't think we've had one going the top five since then.
I mean, probably the last guy that went in the top five was Jamal Murray.
And that was eight years ago.
And we might have two guys do it this year.
All of us here that have been watching all season.
We kind of get it like the spark.
You've got DJ Wagner.
It makes a little sense.
but I like reading the comments on the internet to just the national perception of it.
People are like, how in the hell are these guys not starting it?
They just don't know the dynamics.
But there are like national folks going crazy that Reed and Rob don't start for UK.
Who's up next, Ian?
Danny.
Danny.
Danny, whatever Ian said.
Go ahead.
Danny.
Danny.
Hey, Matt.
All right.
A couple things.
My wife is originally from Los Angeles, born and raised, and she's been feeling down.
the other day I asked her if she had palpitus of the punk and she told me I had to quit drinking
she did not believe that that was a thing it's a real phrase I had to go back and find a part of
your show and play it for it because she literally thought oh I appreciate it and the second thing is
speaking of rob and re how do you see the end of the year maybe national or SEC awards playing
out six men of the year rookie of the year like how do you pick between yeah I think uh one of those guys
will win six men of the year in the SEC, probably Reed.
Antonio Reeves will be first team all SEC, and I don't know if Rob or Reed will.
One of them might be like second or third team.
Reeves will be first, but I don't know about one of the others.
Some breaking news here, Shannon.
Yes.
The Pentagon has just released a report.
The Republicans in Congress required them to release a report about aliens.
They said they have found no evidence of any alien visitations to Earth.
I guess that settles that, right?
Drew. Lires.
Of course they're going to say that.
They don't want us to know.
But it's the Pentagon.
Yeah, they're the biggest liars.
Yeah, they're politicians.
They all lie.
Shut up.
We'll be right back.
This is Kesar.
