This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

I am Matt Jones here live at the apartment close to Vanderbilt in Nashville, where we are here to get ready and let you know all about the SEC tournament. You can give a shout to Clark's Pump and Shop phone line 859-280-22. 87. A Vision Auto Glass text machine is 772-7474-5-254. And this edition sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, you call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Full house. Got Ryan Lim and Drew Franklin, Shannon the dude, and making vol fan. Dwayne is already here this morning. Nobody arrives to the SEC tournament earlier than Dwayne, and he's here with us. And the rest of my crew are coming later. It is Thursday of the SEC tournament. One of my favorite days, Ryan. Maybe my favorite day, certainly of, of sports season because usually Kentucky doesn't have to play thankfully you don't have to this year now either and you just get to watch a lot of basketball and hang out in the city with my friends and then with you guys although you are my friends and then you guys you guys are the part of that as well no I will include you in my friends Ryan and people we get to hang out with we'll all we're all going to talk about this but if last night was any indication this is going to be a
Starting point is 00:03:33 Wild weekend with fans here and look at the crowd. When I got back here last night, I turned on the Big 12 tournament was finishing. It was like Cincinnati. You know, Cairns lost by 20 last night, Cincinnati. And the crowd was empty. And, you know, the Big 12 was on paper the best conference this year for a lot of the year. Yeah. And there was nobody there.
Starting point is 00:03:53 And Kansas is the only fans that were there were Kansas. They were about to have to leave, right? Because they're about to lose. And I was sitting there thinking, I think this year, if you were to choose a tournament to go to in the country, maybe for the first time ever you would choose the SEC tournament. I mean, you really would. You really would.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Like, this is, last night's Vandy, Arkansas game, was legitimately a great game, and it was a Wednesday night game. I'm sure we'll get to it, but it was a great crowd among all the conference tournaments, especially for a first day. I've said many times it is the best Wednesday in all of sports, but I think yesterday...
Starting point is 00:04:27 It actually was. It was. But it was the best Wednesday in SEC tournament, history so technically yesterday was the best Wednesday ever in the history of course games the Georgia Missouri game was was brutal to watch but was close although I left
Starting point is 00:04:40 I was walking home got hit by a girl on a scooter is there any this city do they have any scooter regulations or is it just like a free-for-all I almost got hit by like eight girls on scooters you have to yield to the scooter people if you're a pedestrian I think that's how it works in that show. Do you think they should make
Starting point is 00:04:56 the scooters be on the road or on the sidewalk because they They clearly are on the sidewalk, but it's like, but they're too fast to be going on the sidewalk. I think they go fast enough to hit the speed limit for a car, so they should probably be on the road. I think they go too slow for the road, too fast for the sidewalk, and I think that's a problem. Because this city of all the cities is one of the worst. Obviously, a lot of people are drunk. That hill by Bridgestone, I mean, you can get so much speed going on that.
Starting point is 00:05:23 They need a crash pad at the bottom. They do. I'm sitting there doing a little live video or, you know, doing a video, which maybe is not the safest thing to do when walking down the road. And this girl comes flying by, just barely misses me and goes, I'm agile. And I was like, all right. Well, back to my video. So anyway, let's talk about last night for a second.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Where did all those people come from? It was full. It was full. I'm used to Wednesday nights where you could literally take a section and just lay in every seat. It was completely full. We got there, like, at the start of the second half, and had to sit in the second to top row so we could all sit together. You know, we were joking. Well, I mean, I was half joking, saying I wanted to go sit behind the Vanderbilt bench.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Yeah. We walked in. We're going, we're not going to sit in the lower bowl. We're going to have to go all the way to the top. I've never seen anything like that. Would you say 85, 90% full? I think by the end of the game, almost completely. It was.
Starting point is 00:06:24 By the end of the game. And, you know, I've never seen anything like it. And yes, so apparently they sent a letter, or I guess not a letter. They didn't send like a telegram, but they sent an email to all the National Predators season ticket holders and offered them free tickets to the game. Oh, okay. Still, though, they've done that stuff before, and it's not been like last night. And it was probably, you know, I read a lot, decent amount of Andy fans, decent amount of
Starting point is 00:06:52 of Arkansas fans. There were Kentucky and Tennessee fans that were here early. But it looked like a lot of people drew who just were like, let's just go to the game. It was like a lot of just random people. I even wrote about that a little bit. Usually it's like, well, Kentucky fans are just early because they're excited. Or maybe it's a Tennessee or it's a lot of Tennessee fans. There was just fans of everyone there.
Starting point is 00:07:12 It was just all the color, all the T-shirts were there. It was like my mom was there rooting for all teams. Yeah, it really was. It was like the generic sports fan. Like in a video game, the generic sports fan. There were a few. When I said on Press Row, in the second half because I was I was up with the masses too much you don't
Starting point is 00:07:30 needed to go back I'm kidding look I mean I'm kidding with you just because I do that I didn't get credentialed I now now know why I got you credentialed I was about to say you not not for this year I talked to the head of the SEC media yeah and I explain he said you you need to get on the UK season ticket list which you can do okay you're not on that list So I said, well, can he come in like tomorrow? And he goes, no. I like this little brag, by the way, that you're wearing your credential to the breakfast table during the show.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Thank you very much for rubbing that in my face. They may check your credentials here at the table. But I talked to him and I said, you know, this is Shannon the dude. Yeah. And when I said that, that didn't help. I had to backtrack and use your real name. Not an OVW fan, uh, Netflix? Speaking of OVW.
Starting point is 00:08:21 Listen, when I walked backstage, four different people from various like media departments or like when we walked on press row the announcer for Arkansas the color guy for an Arkansas takes his headset off during a commercial and goes OV Dub
Starting point is 00:08:41 that's awesome that was very cool but it's still not enough to get you that's right man still not good enough maybe season two will get me in he did say though that next year if you'll get on the UK list you can be credential I don't even want the credential at this point.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Like, you can just have it. Like, I'm now to that level of spite to where I don't even want your credential. You can take your credential and shove it where the sun don't shine. Don't say that. What if what's going to happen? What are they going to do? Not give me a credential. That's not the same thing that's been going on for the last 10 years with this stupid tournament.
Starting point is 00:09:15 You and I go sit the tippy top again. Watch Vanderbilt again. Two rows from the top like we did last night. You did say when Vandy got up 15 they were going to lose. I did. I said, bet. I don't want to bet against Vandy, but I said, if you want to make some money, get on the rankings app, bet right now. He did.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Last night was a great night for live betting. The people I were with were partaking in both games. It was just back and forth. There's a lot of fun. Like, last night, that was a great game. Arkansas blew it in regulation, but then found a way to nearly win it or did win it in overtime. It was a very exciting game. And to put a perspective for people listening to us.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Talk about it. Usually on a Wednesday night, there's like what, maybe a thousand people there? Maybe. More than that, but it's not. And last night we're talking 20,000 people. And a good atmosphere, like a crowd is to it. It felt like the finals. It did.
Starting point is 00:10:04 And so I actually think it'll be worse today than it was last night. Maybe. But what it did make me think was, this is going to be awesome Friday. Yeah. I think Friday and Saturday, if you get, if the four by teams win and, you win and get to Saturday so that it's Tennessee, Auburn, Kentucky, Alabama. Saturday will be one of the best
Starting point is 00:10:30 semifile days they've ever had here, don't you think? Yeah, and I mean, obviously there's the best teams this year, but those are four best traveling fan bases every year to this tournament anyway. So you put them into attention. Arkansas, yeah, Arkansas, usually got to be good crap. But Auburn and Alabama, Tennessee were in it. Now that they're in the conversation,
Starting point is 00:10:46 I think it's going to be wild here starting to. With Arkansas, I think for the SEC tournament in Nashville, The best fan bases are Kentucky won, Tennessee 2, actually. Arkansas 3, then Alabama, then Auburn. I think those are probably the five best, and you would get, Ryan, four of those five. Yeah, when Arkansas is good, they flood the SEC tournament. They always have.
Starting point is 00:11:08 I got to think one more than thing about Shannon before we get off of it. There's like a little kid when Ezra, better than Ezra, hit that last second shot to tie it up. I thought he hated the tournament. Oh, he was in it right then. That moment was awesome. All right, other than that, it sucked. Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Wednesday. Wednesday is... You jumped up, too, don't lie. Oh, I did. I was up on a high-five. Wednesday is Shannon the dude day. It is. He loved it.
Starting point is 00:11:34 First of all, Vandy's always in it. And then Missouri almost won. Like, Missouri almost... You said they were up five with a minute to go? Something like that. Yeah, and then... And lost. And lost.
Starting point is 00:11:45 Georgia, maybe not five, but they were up with like a minute, minute, and a half to go. They were up like 10 with just a few minutes to go. And then Georgia won. So Missouri has the worst player that has ever been allowed since Joey Waldrop for Georgia to play basketball in the SEC. That seven foot two dude, the big tall white guy, is the worst player I've ever seen. I mean, he's the worst player I've ever seen. I don't know how they let him on the court.
Starting point is 00:12:11 I don't know how they credentialed him to get in the building. He is the worst. I said to the guy next to me, he like tried to save something out of bounds. He ended up just falling and knocking over a trombone. It was the least athletic thing I've ever seen. I understand he's in the SEC. He is better at basketball than I am. But if I'm a coach and that guy walks in my gym, I'm like, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:12:28 We don't have a spot. It's just too lanky, too uncoordinated. Let me also tell you something I did during the night. Count the student sections. You know, so they save this spot behind the basket for students. It used to be chairs. Now they just let them stand. And if you're a student, you get to come.
Starting point is 00:12:47 So let's talk about the student sections. Last night, I counted Vandy Arkansas. Now remember, Vandy is a mile away. A mile away. Not even, I mean, not just the same city. We are on campus right now. I walked there. They had nine students.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Nine. Well, they're studying. Arkansas had six. So nine and six. Second game, Georgia had four, and one of them looked to be 55-year-old, 55 years old bald. I don't think he was a student, although he did have a student pass on.
Starting point is 00:13:24 That's called a non-traditional student. I mean, he, I thought he was more likely to me AARP than a Georgia student, but he was there. Missouri did not have one student. None. Not one student made the trip. You would think in that entire university, one person would have been like,
Starting point is 00:13:48 let's just go to Nashville. Yeah. and we can go to one game. Lose and then party the rest of the weekend. They did not have one student. They had two of their equipment managers, pull up a chair and sit in this student section because there was not enough space on the bitch.
Starting point is 00:14:03 That was it. I'd be a shame to be a fan of them. I can't believe them. I'll say this just to maybe defend Vanderbilt. They have to be on spring break. But I don't care. First of all, there are got to be students of Vanderbilt that don't leave.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Yeah, probably a lot. Don't leave the library. We just walk through campus and it's dead. I mean, there's nobody walking. That's crazy in your hometown. So total students for all four teams was under 20. That's insane. Now, I expect today there'll be some of these teams.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Like in Kentucky and Tennessee, you'll probably fill their student sections. But I couldn't believe how few people there were. You know, with Wednesday being so crowded now, we need like seat fillers like at the Oscars. We can't have empty seats down there in the student sections. Let some random fans go down there if there's not going to be students. Let me go down there. How about that? Look at this guy.
Starting point is 00:14:48 I'll be a student. Give me a Missouri shirt. So, also, I got lost yesterday trying to find my way from where we set to the media room. And I ended up accidentally walking into the SEC Network Greenwork. Okay, so they have a little room back there that is for the SEC Network talent. Okay. And when I walk in, the only person sitting there is Peter Burns. Yeah. And Peter Burns, I haven't seen him since COVID.
Starting point is 00:15:14 And he's, you know, he's hosted this show. He hosts the ESPN show right before mine. every Sunday. So I've only seen him virtually. So I was like, hey, Peter Burns. And Peter Burns is way too, like, handsome in person. You know, he's like, he's handsome. He's got the hair.
Starting point is 00:15:28 He's wearing the suit. And he's like, hey, hey. And we're talking. And he goes, eh, take a seat. And I'm like, I'll just watch the second half. You're in. Me and Peter Burns, like my ESPN colleague. We're talking.
Starting point is 00:15:41 He's very engaged. He really likes wrestlers. So he's talking to me about wrestlers. And I don't know if he's ever happened to you. You ever had a moment where, like, you're like, this guy's ready for me to go? Oh, yeah. Yeah. You got to know the cue.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Because he was watching the game. Yeah. And it was clear, like, he has to go up and talk about it. Uh-huh. So he has to follow it. And so I'm like, yeah, Peter. And, you know, how's life? Burb-a-deep.
Starting point is 00:16:04 And so all of a sudden, like, he's only staring at the game. And it hit me. I need to leave him alone. Yeah. But then, like, you know, how do you do the goodbye? So I wait until the next break. We sit in silence. That's worse.
Starting point is 00:16:19 For like two minutes. That's worse. And I go, you know, Peter, it's great to see you. Let's go. He's like, hey, come back, bye. I don't think you meant it. Dude, that's when you like that. He appreciated your call.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Exactly. He did. He appreciated my visit. That's when you got to fake a phone call. I'm like, you know what? I got to take this. Good to see you, man. I'm out of here.
Starting point is 00:16:35 I think you're exactly right. He appreciated my visit. He goes, well, I appreciate you coming in the green room. See you. Your 32nd shot clock was up. There's people that to do that to you all the time, though. You know how that feeling is. What?
Starting point is 00:16:47 You need to go somewhere. No, I mean, there are people, we call it lingers a little bit. You were being a linger. But I was being a linger because I thought Peter was like my actual friend. Well, he asked you to sit down. He did. But I think he was like, I think Peter was sort of saying to me suddenly, we're five-minute friends. Yeah, sit down, let's catch up, now leave.
Starting point is 00:17:06 Five-minute friends, that's the extent of our relationship. And then we're good. I can't wait until he's hosting the show this summer. We can talk to me about this. You can ask him if I'm a five-minute friend. I think I'm a five-minute friend. I think I'm a five-minute friend. 859-2-80-22-87.
Starting point is 00:17:18 Some big news. Kentucky basketball with some big news. U of L gets rid of its coach and finds out one of the coaches might have been a traitor. We got that going on and a lot more. We are here at our rental house in Nashville. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Feel those jams here for the SEC tournament with our man Rick here in Nashville. What is this?
Starting point is 00:17:49 What is this beat you got going, Rick? I'd say customized podcast music bump. There you go. I like the customized podcast music bumps. Are you feeling that groove there, Ryan? I am up and moving and shaking. We are here in Nashville. It's already been fun.
Starting point is 00:18:11 I have to be honest with you, these shows right like this are my favorite shows we do all year. The ones on the road? The ones on the road without a crowd are my favorite shows we do. I feel like we're the most natural. Shannon's grumpy usually. What time did you get in last night? Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:18:27 I think I was up for 24 hours yesterday. I got up at 4.45 yesterday to get ready to go pick up Brian, get on the road. And I shut down about three Eastern last night. So I almost hit the 24-hour month. I don't either. I mean, he's like 51 years old and he's still doing this. Oh, I saw. I didn't hit them all on Broadway, but I got about five of them checked them off.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Yeah, I don't know how you. And I stayed for the second game. I mean, I took in Missouri. Georgia, and then went and saw what the town had to offer. Yeah. By the way, the new Fade This with me and Drew is out. We recorded it in the arena. I did the same way.
Starting point is 00:19:02 As I was asking Shannon, or asking about Shannon's media credential, I was told by the head of media, Craig Pinkerton for the SEC. That will be the only fade this episode, allowed to be done. He said, I saw you. And he was like, there weren't that many people, so I let it go. But, like, you can't do that. Does a no-no? Why not?
Starting point is 00:19:20 I thought it was called the Audio Distribute. It's not because of rights. It's because he said we were too loud. Now that I can understand. We weren't. There was one moment where we were shouting about nonsense and I thought there has to be 30 people that are listening to this one and what we're doing. Yeah, you said we were too loud. Wednesdays at the SEC tournament seems to be like the purge. You can do whatever you want.
Starting point is 00:19:42 There really are no rules. Go and pour yourself a beer if you want to. There were people walking around with like meat cleavers. It is, it's a complete free-for-all. Nobody's checking anything. There are fights like a guy. I saw a guy go up to a person go, you're in my seat, and he said, no. And there wasn't anything you could do.
Starting point is 00:20:00 You have seat numbers, but people can still take them. Those suggestions. It's the purge. At one point, Tom Hart got beat up. Another person did the announcing. When we got there, Ron and I just walked into Texas A&M's practice. We aren't like on the sideline. I am on the court.
Starting point is 00:20:17 On the field of play. And I'll look up and Ryan's got a UK hat. I was like, I feel like you probably shouldn't be wearing a UK hat at A&M's I took my hat off and tried to hide it behind my back. You could play them. I highly recommend Wednesdays. Yes. I think it starts to get more serious today.
Starting point is 00:20:31 Let's talk for a second about the UK basketball. Yesterday, as broken by Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports. I've heard of him. UK, and then it has been officially announced this morning, is expanding a new NIL fund that can now include the general fan base. There has not been a basketball-only NIL fund for the fan base in general yet. Now there is one. It is the law familiar fund.
Starting point is 00:21:02 I'll talk about in a second. I actually have a live read for it, so I'll give you the details. But I do think this is a big deal. Let me explain why I think it's a big deal. First of all, I think it took UK basketball a minute to get behind all this stuff. I think this says they're all in on NIL. This was a partnership from what I understand with Cal. So Mitch Barnhart has sort of given his blessing on it.
Starting point is 00:21:27 There are ways for you to participate and donate, but there's also ways, even if you don't have money to be part of it, and you can look at the website and see that. But most importantly, this says to me, this is an attempt to make UK the premier basketball NIL destination. This is what the world is right now. I think UK's needed this for like two years, and now they've done it,
Starting point is 00:21:54 and I think it's actually great news going forward for UK basketball. Yeah, you're right. I think it's a little late to the party, but something that's desperately needed, and I like the fact that you said Cal and Mitch are kind of partnering together. They're both hand-in-hand on this, which I think's important going forward that they have to be hand-in-hand-hand-in-this. Yes, I think everybody,
Starting point is 00:22:17 is all in on this on this and I think that's been an issue. Oh, yeah. And it's part of the law familiar thing, but you can donate, you know, any amount of money as small as possible, but there are also other ways to do it. If you have UK basketball, you have its tradition, you have its history of putting it in the people in the NBA, you have Cal, now you throw this in, to me, I think it makes it to where Kentucky can compete to get anybody they want whenever they want. Especially if this is done right.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Like you said, you're already one of the top destinations as it is. You add this to what you're bringing to the table. And a lot of people will be coming. I just love that as they posted it this morning, most of the comments are like just how much do I need to give to give Reed Rob back? It's like how much for reading Rob? It's all about like Reed Rob, read, Rob, just tell me where does my read and Rob money go? So the website is spotfund.com slash law familiar.
Starting point is 00:23:13 So they're using Spotfund.com because unlike GoFundMe, it doesn't take money out. So spotfund.com slash lawfamilia. I did give the suggestion. How about we get a better URL than spotfund.com slash law familiar. But for now that's what it is, Shannon. And I'm going to read you. They have an ad read, so this will give you the information. Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:33 All right. Kentucky's men's basketball is the most story program in college sports, and everybody wants to see what Cal is doing. And now they have a Kentucky men's basketball team NIL. They're working with pro camps, the exclusive provider for team NIL for Kentucky basketball. They're the ones that have helped these guys get ads like that Donato's ad. Correct.
Starting point is 00:23:51 And all that. Law Familia campaign allows BBN to directly contribute and gives access to member benefits such as a trading card featuring the team. That'll be popular. Sign team basketballs and a lot more. Go to spotfund.com slash lawfamilia. Spotfund.com slash law familiar. Much needed. A little late to the party, but definitely needed.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Yes. Good to see this going forward. Yeah, so there you go. You can try it. Look at it. There's a video with Reed Shepherd, Antonio Reeves, and all those people and Cal that's in it that is online right now. We'll be talking more about that as the weeks go.
Starting point is 00:24:28 We will get, take your calls. We got folks on the phone, 859-28027. We are 2287. We are here in Nashville for the SEC tournament. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio. Text machine is 772-7452524. We are here in Nashville.
Starting point is 00:25:04 You said you have some breaking news. Hit the breaking news button, Rick. Nice. What is it? Ryan. Just hours after Kentucky Sports Radio broadcast live in Hodgkinville, Kentucky. Hodginville, Kentucky. We talked to brag about the statue of Abe Lincoln and young A. Blinken.
Starting point is 00:25:23 The young A. Blinken statue was hit by a car hours after we do our show in Hodginville. No. Yes. Yesterday. Tuesday. Yes. They hit Young A. Blinken. Young A. Blinken. Didn't even hit adult A. Blinken.
Starting point is 00:25:38 You know, because... Wait, Tuesday or Wednesday? Tuesday. Today's Thursday. Well, if it's Tuesday, then it was before we got there. Yeah. Oh, okay. It was the night before we got there. Okay, so it can't be a curse if we weren't there yet. I knew we were coming. What does the young Abe Lincoln statute look like?
Starting point is 00:25:54 Because I only know what Abe Lincoln looks like if he has a beard. Yeah. And I don't think the... See, that just looks like a regular child. I didn't even realize it was young when we went around it. Have you ever seen a picture? Like, I feel like what we picked. picture as Abe Lincoln. Have you ever seen him not like that?
Starting point is 00:26:10 Well, Duane says you're a history teacher, so I assume you've seen it. Yeah, but that just means like a regular person. Yeah, because when he was a politician, he didn't have the beard and the mustache. He was clean-shaven. So you didn't remember that? Actually, I guess I remember that, too. Yeah. Yeah, I've seen that when he was debating Douglas.
Starting point is 00:26:27 In your mind, don't you picture Abe Lincoln as a big tall dude? Like, how tall was he really? I think he was a tall, skinny guy. I think he was tall. Like, how tall? Like six four? But the thing is, okay, so like I think of Abe Lincoln as being like absurdly tall, but I'm six four. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:42 Do you think of me as tall as Abe Lincoln? Do you think of me as grandiose as Abe Lincoln? I think of you of Uganda. You're so tall. Maybe the top hat. Abe Lincoln has never crossed my mind when I think about you, to be honest with you. He never thought of Abe Lincoln. No, there's no real characteristics.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Abe Lincoln was not in the Civil Society Fellowship, was it? 859-28027. All right. Who's up first there, Rick? Xerxes is up first. Zerxes, how are you, sir? I'm doing well, Matt, doing well. Feel great about this team.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Got a whirlwind of a weekend plan. Okay, Friday night, me and the miss is getting into town for the game. We land, I believe, like 30 minutes. I don't need your itinerary, Zerxes. What are you going to do when you're here? Okay, go to the game Friday. Only there Friday. I have to leave bright and early the following Saturday.
Starting point is 00:27:34 best brand supplies get your birthday party leave their Sunday to get back in time to watch the game on Sunday that's it that's all I got Are you coming and leaving Then coming back He's coming and leaving now that's a commitment
Starting point is 00:27:48 To come twice I appreciate the Stop laughing I'd like to know the everybody's itinerary When you call in today Tell me what you're doing Brush my teeth today A little breakfast called in Going to lunch
Starting point is 00:27:59 Speaking of lunch that place right over there That San Antonio tacos It was pretty good My friend Scotty Jones and Lexington, that's the one place he recommended, and it's the we could walk to it. They called it Satco. Satko. Really, really good. I think we did a good job on the first one. That's been there for decades of hangovers. Something I saw yesterday, right next to Satco is a place called Helen's Hot Chicken. I saw that. Here's what I think is interesting. You know, Hatties is the hot chicken. Do you think Helen was just like, let's confuse people. you know, Hatties.
Starting point is 00:28:34 All right, I'm a woman. I start with H. Yeah. Helen. I think that's pretty good because if you're just here and you don't like think about it, you go to Helens and you think you're at the place. This one doesn't have a line. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:46 So like Helen's, Hatties. And there aren't that many women's names that start with H. I'm going to open up one called Harriet's hot chicken. Harriet? Okay. No, Harriet's even better. Yeah. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:57 How many women's names with H can you think of? Hannah. Hallie over here. Holly Berry fan. Holly, Hannah. All right, I thought I had something there. No, you don't.
Starting point is 00:29:06 But you're getting a lot of them. But Helen's, do you think she did that on purpose to try to, like, confuse people? I think her name was just Helen and she had hot chicken. I think that's all there is to it. I think you're trying to read too much into this. I like this is kind of different. But in Lexington, what's the seafood with this famous sandwich on Winchester Road? Charlie's?
Starting point is 00:29:24 Charles. Across the street, you know, they're famous for best fish sandwich in Lexington. Across the street, Big Cahuna has a big sign now that's. says second best fish sandwich in Lexington. No, they don't. I love it so much. I pass it every day. I'm going to go get one because they deserve to sell that.
Starting point is 00:29:39 Are you serious? It says in huge letters. So, for people who don't know, the Charlize has had a sign forever that says best seafood sandwich in Lexington. They put up second best six. That is awesome. I love it. When Jay Leno passed David Letterman in the ratings, he put up signs like all over the
Starting point is 00:29:56 country with his face smiling and goes now number one in late night. and David Letterman then did the same thing and said number two waving. That's great. I love it. What's wrong with that? I actually think that's really brilliant, isn't it? It really makes me want to go to the second best because of the personality. It does.
Starting point is 00:30:13 Me too. I think I'd want to go to the second best. Well, let's go to Helen's then today and check them out. You read my mind. I'm eating at Helen's with a hot chicken when I go. Hattie, no offense. She's got all the business. What about poor Helen?
Starting point is 00:30:26 She's striving. I like to think that maybe they were sisters and they had a family feud. Didn't she split up? Like on the Gallagher's that we talked about yesterday on Fade this. We're not allowed to talk about that again in Nashville. We're in trouble. Yeah, we can't do that. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:30:38 Forest is up next. Forest. How are you doing, Forrest? Hey. Hey, how's it going? First time I was doing. Who are? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:48 So speaking of that Lincoln Boy statue in Hodginville, so of course, our county was always dry, you know, like most Lurroo counties, or most Kentucky counties. And we had a vote, became wet, and about, I would say a few months later, we had two drunks, run right through the statue coming from Barchtown. Those, I see those Bartstown drunks. They all always get you. They drink in Bardstown with their bourbon, come to Leroux County, hit your statues.
Starting point is 00:31:17 That's what they do, Shania. You got to watch out for those Bardstown drugs. It only takes two drunks and mess it up for the entire town. That would be a good, if you want to do a secondary band, the Bardstown Drunks. There you go. Yeah. Yeah, that would be good. But, yeah, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:31:33 Start it, Shannon. I think you could do it. All right. I appreciate to call, man. Kentucky, you got the tournament games today. Let's go through and pick them really quick. We start out with LSU, Mississippi State. Who you like?
Starting point is 00:31:46 I don't like either one of them, so I'll take LSU. Okay. Mississippi State. I'm going to take Mississippi State. They're playing for the tournament. I mean, they're probably out, but they're trying to play their way in. They got to win today. Then we have Arkansas.
Starting point is 00:32:00 After their hot win against Vanderbilt, go up against South Carolina. Can they pull off the upset? No. I got so mad at Arkansas last night. I was watching some of their players. They don't root for each other. They don't give high-fives to each other. I don't like.
Starting point is 00:32:12 You're just looking for a Muslim's wife. I did. I found her, too. She had on a jersey. Stop, stop. He did. She had on a jersey. Okay, I don't.
Starting point is 00:32:20 But again, you don't realize how you sound. Like, you're like, she had on a jersey. Like, it's like a little, you know. It's going to get awkward when he goes to Louisville. Just for the record, you realize someone sent Shannon a shirt That said always respect women I do I'm of the belief that was meant to go to you
Starting point is 00:32:38 There's no way that was a written like that was not it's That was not intentionally for Shannon That had to be for you Somebody heard the show It says odds are better when we support women year round I think there's no way That was intended for Shannon You should wear that through Nashville today on Broadway
Starting point is 00:32:56 I should All right will you wear that Oh sure You'll wear that to the Thursday of the SEC. Why not? The Women's History Month, respect women's shop. Why not? It is a pre-stallish shirt.
Starting point is 00:33:05 It is. It is. All right, well, good. So you're going to wear that. Although it is going to be 80 degrees today, and it's a long-sleeved shirt. Yeah, but you just roll the sleep side. Oh, sorry. Don't support women that if it's going to be hot outside.
Starting point is 00:33:14 I'd hate for you to sweat. Sporting women. All right, Arkansas, South Carolina is going to win. I'm going to say South Carolina. Yeah, South Carolina. All right. Old Miss A&M, winter plays Kentucky. Well, we had a scattered report on A&M's practice yesterday, and they looked
Starting point is 00:33:29 really sharp, so I'm going A&M. I think you did a few drills with the team when we were there. I think I'm going to go with Ole Miss on this one. All right. I'm really conflicted on this one. Old Miss has got some scores, but sometimes they just don't score. That's an issue. I will lean Wade Taylor, but Old Miss is capable of filling it up when they want to.
Starting point is 00:33:46 I'm taking A&M. Same thing, kind of playing for the tournament. I think they need a win, so I'm going to take A&M. And then late at night, Georgia, Florida. Florida. Florida. Yeah, it looks to me like Georgia. stinks. I think Florida wins. This will be a game we leave without question. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:34:05 Got Danny up next. Danny. Go ahead, Danny. Hey, love you guys. The Bill Self, DeCanada's game last light. Do you know why he set his two leading scores? Well, they're hurt. They're both hurt. Oh, okay. I didn't know. So they're both hurt. The McCuller guy could have played, but they set him out as precaution. And Dickinson will probably be good for the tournament, but they were both hurt. So, you know, they ended up losing about 20 to Cincinnati. It shows you how thin that roster is, but they were both hurt.
Starting point is 00:34:37 Cincinnati was a favorite going into that game. Well, what else? Louisville. Yeah, we're going to, I'm going to do Louisville after the branch. Yeah, oh, the LSU coach from my Will. Wade. Yeah, I think they can't do any NCAA problems after everything that they've had. I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:34:55 We're going to talk about Louisville. Because the article that Eric Crawford wrote yesterday, is something else. Like, it's something else. The KSR Bowling League is back at South Orleans. Nice. It starts 7 p.m. April 24th, and will be Wednesday nights,
Starting point is 00:35:12 four-person teams for 12 weeks. This is a lot of fun. We do it every year. Are you going to participate this year? No, we go and, like, give out door prices now. You don't like to bowl? You know, I like to give everybody else a chance. So the first night of bowling is April 24th at 7 p.m.
Starting point is 00:35:28 It's a handicap format. So if you're good at bowling or not good, you can still do it. Check it out. It's a 12-week season. KSR bowling.com. This got stopped for a little while because of COVID. Yeah. And now it's back.
Starting point is 00:35:42 KSR bowling.com. I'm going to go do some of it as well. So it should be KSR bowling. We will take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports. I like a dad. Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio. 85928027 remember Shannon plays at 10 roof today 530 Nashville time right right
Starting point is 00:36:10 yeah 530 Nashville time he will be playing at 10 roofs so go watch alice blue gown rock it out our show is tomorrow uh get there early at 10 roof uh it may be raining we'll try to get them to let you in a little bit early if it does but uh get there to 10 roof tomorrow ksr should be full of UK fans ready to go they're going to open the doors at 7 local time to get ready for the pre-show, it starts at eight local times. Yeah, if you want a seat, like if you want to get to sit, I would say get there then. Yes, I would too. As early as you can. It's always a lot of fun to get your spot.
Starting point is 00:36:45 My mom suggested Hilda's hot chicken. Hilda's hot chicken. Holly, Hope. Yeah, a lot of H's. I'd go to Hilda. She's wearing an apron. It's a family recipe. It's delicious chicken.
Starting point is 00:36:57 You said when you went in your bathroom last night, you saw something? What was it? A ghost. This morning when I took a shower, I think there was more hair in the shower than on my head. I had to actually clear hair out of the way to take the shower. Was it yours? No, no, no, no. It was just it was there waiting.
Starting point is 00:37:12 So I think you got the one. They told us when we checked in. Somebody dyed their hair purple. Oh, someone died their hair. I thought, I just heard someone died there. I was like quickly. And I was a lot of hair. You know, hair happens.
Starting point is 00:37:25 Get a hotel. It might be wondering. Someone shaved their head in that shower before I got in there. That's great. Well, I mean, listen, when you get a place like this, I didn't tell you to be the cleanest. I'm not complaining. I'm just saying there was hair there. I just said we would have a place to stay.
Starting point is 00:37:39 It's socks. You get hair. Located. Travis Ford, let go at St. Louis, or is going to be let go at St. Louis, looks like. Yeah, they just didn't seem to have much success after he's been there. You know, he's been there for several years. How many years did it say? Since 2018.
Starting point is 00:37:52 Yeah. Yeah. I like Travis. You know, at one point, he was a rising coaching star for sure. He's a perfect example, though, why you don't care. while you don't hire your former player. Yeah. Like, just, you know, because people wanted to,
Starting point is 00:38:06 my point not that he was St. Louis player, he was a Kentucky player, but people wanted to hire him at one point. Oh, yeah. He had some good years at Oklahoma State. There was a couple good years. They were like, well, we should bring him here. I just think that's, and Kenny Payne is the other example.
Starting point is 00:38:18 So Kenny's out. Eric Crawford did the, when you let a coach go, you let everything out story yesterday. Fascinating story. It was clearly written by a guy, and Eric Crawford who likes Kenny Payne and was trying to take up for Kenny Payne. Rather than just saying, you know what, this is all Kenny's fault. It was like, well, Kenny had some.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Kenny and Eric and Rick Bosich really like Kenny Payne, and that's fine, but they are, they've been riding for him for a long time. Now, I mean, it gave him blame, but it also was like, you know, people didn't do this. They didn't do this. The most damning thing to me, though, was it said that in December, you remember there was that story from Jeff Goodman and Matt Norlander that Kenny was going to be let go? Yeah. And that Nolan Smith would become the action.
Starting point is 00:38:59 acting head coach. Eric Crawford said yesterday, Nolan Smith is the one that leaked that. He put that in the article. That Nolan Smith leaked it. U of L found out, told Kenny to deal with it, and Kenny decided not to fire him.
Starting point is 00:39:17 I would have fired him on the spot. But no wonder they didn't get, no wonder that team didn't get long. Assistance are planning stories that the head coach is going to be fired? You got it from the inside out. people trying to sabotage you. Yeah. Right?
Starting point is 00:39:33 Yeah, you can't have that, especially in the locker room. I would think, remember Nolan Smith was at one time, the head recruiter at Duke. Yeah. Do you think, like, I wouldn't hire him as an assistant? He's cooked on that. Did he just ruin his coaching career? Now that it's out, he did that. Yeah, would you want him on your staff?
Starting point is 00:39:51 How could you trust him? Even before that, this season, and I'm not watching that closely, but didn't he, like, very soft on social media, like, fighting with people? He and his wife are like. Yeah, and now this scene, well, A, this is Duke behavior. This is 2009 Duke behavior. This is Plumley, Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith behavior. It's not that surprising.
Starting point is 00:40:12 But, I mean, it is stupid for a rising star like that to just throw his career away. I can't believe him. And aren't he and Kitty close from his? We thought so. His dad played with Kitty. His dad played with Kitty. No kidding. I mean, that's like.
Starting point is 00:40:26 That's probably why he didn't let him go as a favor to his dad. My guess. But Stads passed away. Oh, I don't know. No, no. But Ryan, like, that says a lot about Kenny that someone would do that and you would just take it. He's got a great heart. And, like, that's clearly, you know, but I can't believe he did that.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Can't either. He can't stay on the staff either, right? No. No. He's got to be on any staff. What did Nolan say about Cal? Didn't he say something about Cal? I mean, I feel like there's plenty of Nolan's mysteries.
Starting point is 00:40:51 He, like, put out a tweet about Cal once. And you were like, what are you doing? Yeah, he did. So, I mean, I think he, Kenny will. find a job, but I kind of wondered did Nolan ruin his career more than anyone? How soon does Kenny end up back here in Lexington?
Starting point is 00:41:07 He can't go directly. No, Nashville. We play Friday. Get him here. Get him down here. He can't come. I mean, like Louisville fans' heads would explode if he came here as an assistant. Wouldn't they? Yeah, but it would be awesome. Let's just do it. Special assistant to the special assistant to the head coach. Whatever it takes to get him here by Friday, make up a job.
Starting point is 00:41:27 They used a lot of a million. Tomorrow is running law familiar. Why is our friend walking down the side of tomorrow? There's game. Game. Game. He looks so lost. I'm looking at you all talking about Nolan Smith, and he's just walking around.
Starting point is 00:41:42 Judge Gabe, just walking down the street. There he is. Kramer is up next. Kramer. How are you, Kramer? I like how he yelled as if he could hear me through that closed window. Go ahead, Kramer. Doing good, Matt.
Starting point is 00:41:54 Currently southbound on I-65 headed to the Music City. I'm really excited about this tournament. This is most excited I've been for an SEC tournament for a long time. I think the cats are rolling. And the last thing I got, I got to give a shout out to my brother, Pickleball Paul. He was not able to hang with Kramer this weekend in the River City pickleball tournament. I handed him the Lest week. So Pickle Ball is not even a pickleball star.
Starting point is 00:42:19 No. He's to show you. Got beat by his brother. I appreciate the call. The Kentucky branded tweet of the day comes from the text machine. One person writes, Matt, your Peter Burns is Bob and Joe. Jamestown. That's not very nice.
Starting point is 00:42:32 Kentucky Brand, it will be set up, by the way, right off Broadway, and they'll be at the show tomorrow. They'll be selling gear, UK gear, and KSR gear at the show at Ten Roof tomorrow. Yeah, they got to a permanent location, but they will be at Ten Roof selling during a show. I think, you know, you're the only person here, Ryan, who was at those 90s SEC tournaments. I think this has the chance to be the best. That was the heyday.
Starting point is 00:42:58 Yeah. With Kentucky and Arkansas, both good. I've talked about, I think the 93 SCC tournament might be one of the greatest associations of town. Remember, you had Kentucky with Mashburn and those guys. You had Arkansas with Todd Day, Lee Mayberry, that group. You had, excuse me, this is, you had LSU with Shaq, right? Chris Jackson. I think he might have been gone, but Shaq was on that team.
Starting point is 00:43:26 You had Alabama with James Hollywood Robinson, Latrelle Spreewell, and Robert O'Reary on the same team. Yeah. Tennessee had. Allen Houston? No, it was somebody else. But Tennessee had a good team that year, too. And I remember thinking that that was the epitome of the SEC tournament. From a star power standpoint, it's not that.
Starting point is 00:43:49 But in terms of how good these teams are, right? I think this might be the best and most exciting. SEC tournament since then. That's what I said. Last night was any indication, it's going to be crazy inside that arena. It'll be sold out all day to day, all day tomorrow, all day Saturday,
Starting point is 00:44:05 especially if those four teams, like you said, reached the semifinals on Saturday. I mean it. If you live in Kentucky, even if you don't have tickets, this place starting tomorrow, really starting with our show tomorrow, going through Sunday,
Starting point is 00:44:16 it's going to be the best Nashville's been in a long time from a basketball. I agree. We will take a break. Come back. Hour number two here in Nashville. This is Kentucky. Sports Radio. Another podcast
