Starting point is 00:02:56 going to be making content made some content last night going to make some content when this show is over social media content that was great content last night yes Shannon did not want to do it Shannon was ready to be in bed and he was grumpy and I said Shannon you can't go to bed until we do this video and he threw a nasty sock that we don't know whose it was at us it was just laying there and he was grumpy Shannon but that works out well and you made him try to sing my old Kentucky home live on the video that we do not know the lyrics to my old Kentucky home let's actually try this here if you weren't on Instagram live last night collectively can we do the lyrics to my old Kentucky home so here we go
Starting point is 00:03:35 sunshine's bright on my old Kentucky home you got the easy part all right so I did line one it's tis summer the people are gay yeah there's one the corn this is the part where I've I've sung this on stage and I'm mumble and it looks like I know I've been faking it forever I get lost here it's something the storm does bride what is it hang on corn cobs right corn cobs ripe and the that's the one I can't get it's the corn cobs that get last night I said the corn cobs were shunning corn cops corn tops are bright I think I said the corn cob you said the corn cobs and the meadow is in the bloom and then what bears make music birds birds birds birds what bears me
Starting point is 00:04:24 the bears make music all the day we've no more my lady I know what's next episode So what's after the bears make music all the day? We don't know. No, no, that's not. We're not there yet. We're not there yet. The young folks roll on the old cabin floor. Little cabin floor.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Little cabin floor. All merry, all happy, and bright. There you go. Comes knocking at my door. Buying hard times comes knocking at my door. Then my old Kentucky home, good night. There we go. Weep no more.
Starting point is 00:05:02 My lady. Okay, so see, we got it. So the point of all this was trying to get Alice Bluegown to sing my old Kentucky home tonight at 10 room. But I realized that would need a teleprompter to be able to do that. So what's the set list like this evening? Like give me, give me like. He went through it with me yesterday. So give me the, you got it on there?
Starting point is 00:05:19 I mean, I could pull it up. Give me like the first five songs just to kind of, how do you get it going? So we're playing, of course, Stone-Tipple pilots to get it going. Which one? Interstate Love song? We've got that one on there. That's not the one, though. We're doing some black keys.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Do you know who black keys are? What are the songs? Oh, Lonely Boy. If I just say Lonely Boy, is that one? Like, give me the, how's it go? Just sing it for us. I'm a lonely boy. That's how, you're just going to get there and say you're a lonely boy?
Starting point is 00:05:47 That's all that. Rick save that drop. Sweet emotion, Errol Smith. Oh, you're going to do. Sweet. Oh, that video, that video when I was a kid. Oh, yeah. Do you remember that video?
Starting point is 00:05:59 Oh, yeah. video was very much like Hope Mom and Larry are not watching as we watched the sweet emotion video. Running down a dream. You were lonely boy. Oh, I love that song. I'd love to hear you sing that. Hard to handle. Black Crohn's.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Hey, little thing, let me like chicken knuckles. I'm so hard. See? Yeah. You can do it. Okay. How many American dollars do I have to give you to pay it to play Demis Walker? Because I have cash that I brought down here just to give bands to play Jimus Walker.
Starting point is 00:06:26 You don't even know that. I know the song. Yeah, it's the Kentucky Headhunters. Well, may we. Not we, you, but may you play that for the Kentucky fans, please. If the band knows how to play it, we'll figure it out. We can Google it real quick and figure it out. We need lots of it on Broadway.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Okay, so let me ask you a question. If you don't want to do this, it's totally fine. But if I were to get our listeners to nominate and we picked three or four songs, would you promise to play a listener requested song? We would try. Okay, so let's do that. 772 on the text machine, 772, 7.7. 745-254.
Starting point is 00:07:02 I'll pick three or four songs, and Shannon can decide which one he wants to play. It's like TRL. Yeah. It's like your America's Carson Daily. You're Jesse Camp, Brian, and it's perfect. All right, let's talk a little basketball about what else happened around. So Kansas lost. Kansas lost bad.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Any chance? Are they just done, done? Hunter Dickinson didn't come back. They're done. Apparently going to be a five-seat. This is a team that was going for a one seat earlier in here. It's going to be a five-seat, Drew. Yeah, it's not just.
Starting point is 00:07:30 The injury, I mean, they've been going the wrong way for a while. Yeah. I mean, this is when you want to be getting hot. This is when you want to be Kentucky and you've won eight in a row. Kansas is the opposite of that. Did we get a blessing in disguise not getting Hunter Dickinson? Maybe so. I didn't think that earlier this season, though.
Starting point is 00:07:44 I mean, I thought he was going to be a candidate for a player of the year. I thought they were playing as good as anybody in the country. But even before he got hurt, he wasn't as good as people thought. And I think we would be playing a different style, Shannon, if we had him. I think it ends up being a blessing. We didn't get him. I'm happy with what they have with Trey Mitchell and the three seven footers. You know, like Onienzo has even stepped up and been a big contributor to this team.
Starting point is 00:08:04 What's interesting is not getting him is what led to the startup of this law familiar thing and led to essentially what we announced today. Yeah. The, what's the website? Not just that. Let me give him the website. Go ahead. Not just the NIL collective.
Starting point is 00:08:23 If we have Hunter Dickinson, we all live our lives never having Big Z against Georgia a moment I will remember forever. Big Z does not come to UK if Hunter Dickinson's on the rest of. Spotfund.com slash Law Familia. That, I think, got going because we didn't get Hunter Dickinson. So we ended up maybe getting a blessing not getting him and getting our stuff in gear, I think, a little bit with the thing. And this team has the right attitudes. I don't know Hunter Dickinson. Maybe he would have had the right one too, but you don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:50 And that's a guy that came in wanting a lot of minutes, wanted a lot of money, wanting a lot of shots. And he could have thrown off everything character-wise. Like Drew said probably didn't get Big Z. Wouldn't get Trey Mitchell. wouldn't probably play this style. I mean, there's a lot of thing we could throw into that not happening. So do we all to the chicken fingers, cow on the chicken fingers? Yeah, that was the Jeff Ruby's chicken.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Jeff Ruby chicken fingers. Rick Petino released a video. Did you see this video? He released like a little music video where he's like, we don't talk trash, we talk with our play and showed him like riding down the roads of Manhattan on the way to Madison Square Garden today. I haven't seen that.
Starting point is 00:09:29 I'm sorry I missed that. I kind of think, you know, they play Seton Hall today in one of these, like, may have to win to make the tournament. I'm going to be watching it on TV. I think it's like 3.30 today. Huge game for Rick in the Garden. Are they in or they need to win a couple of games again? I think they're probably in, but they need to win to make sure. And then Seton Hall is kind of right there, too.
Starting point is 00:09:48 So this may be almost a playing game to the tournament today. Seaton Hall coach is at Barclay, right? Sequin Barclay. Sequin Barclay, you think, is the coach? The Giants running back? Yeah. Eagles running back now? in the off season you mean sheen
Starting point is 00:10:07 you mean Shaheen Holloway yeah the guy that was at St. Pete yes you know they're going to coach is Derek Henry they would scare me so you got a Zieg Elyle in the next round that's a tough one Yes, Holloway, though, the St. Peter's former coach. Yes.
Starting point is 00:10:35 Somebody's been reading NFL Free Agency. Literally, when I was talking to a guy from another media outlet yesterday, from another team, he said, you know, the thing I really like about you guys, you just do such a good job. You know your stuff inside and out. I hope he tuned in today when you said Sequin, Barclan, is the coach. Yeah, tell me you're not a listener. Tell them you're not listening. We don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:58 We don't know. Who's next, Rick? Mark Anthony is next. Mark Anthony. Rick, even you knew it wasn't St. Juan Barclay, right? That's true. Right, go ahead, Mark Anthony.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Yeah, I was pretty sure it wasn't. But first of all, fellas, pleased that corn cobs are not mentioned anywhere in the song. It's corn tops, the tassels. Okay. Yeah, I know. Gabe corrected us. I just had it wrong. Matthew, I think Max does.
Starting point is 00:11:26 He knows the worst than my old Kentucky. Max Duffy doesn't know anything. I love Max, but that's not true. From your description of the arena last night, it sounds like this tournament is getting off to a rip-roaring start. I think so. Yes, it's going to get better when the whole town turns blue later this afternoon this evening. I'm real happy with the team we're putting on the floor. I am so thrilled to see them get out there and see what they can do.
Starting point is 00:11:53 I feel like we're going to run up against Tennessee before it's over with. But hey, about Kenny Payne. You know, everybody knew Kenny was on his way out. But when I finally heard the announcement on the radio, a little voice in the back of my head hollered. Curie Steckhouse. And I thought, well, he's not going to do. Here's what they're going to do.
Starting point is 00:12:15 I appreciate the call. I can say this with some confidence. This is going to be my, you know, this is my scuttle butt, but scuttle butt leaning heavily into scoop. Okay. they are all in going for Scott Drew. Now, they don't know if they'll get him, but they are going all in first for Scott Drew.
Starting point is 00:12:37 From what I understand, Scott Drew has told them, I don't want to think about it until the tournament's over. That does put them in a spot, though, because you've got to be ready for the transfer portal. So the more Baylor wins, that may put them to where they have to look somewhere else. Yeah. But they are their number,
Starting point is 00:12:55 They are all in on Scott Drew to start, and then I've heard their backups are Dusty May, who's the coach at Florida Atlantic, is that right? And then Chris Beard are the two sort of backup options. But Scott Drew, I think, is the number one who they're going, and that's going to be, that is Ryan, heavy scuttle butt. And you know, Chris Beard got a little baggage. You think Louisville wants to stay away from anybody with baggage? I told that the administration told.
Starting point is 00:13:25 the AD that absent someone who's had NCAA problems, which would be like Will Wade, they can do what they want, which I think gives them the green flag to do Beard if they want to do. There's already odds out. What are the odds? Okay. Scott Drew plus 600. Yeah, plus 600. Scott Drew is plus 600.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Yes. I kind of like that. Nate Oates plus 700. I'd be surprised about that one. Chris Beard plus 1,000. I think if you were doing the value, that's not a bad value. Mick Cronin. What's Dusty Matt?
Starting point is 00:14:00 That's my pick. Give me Mick Cronin, please. Jerome Tang plus 1250. Steve Forbes, 1250. Josh Shirtz, 1250. Shaka Smart plus 1,500. Lamont Perez plus 2,000. Dusty May plus 2,000.
Starting point is 00:14:14 So I can get Dusty May for plus 2,000. Is that on Draft Kings? Yes. Don't ask me something like. like that. Don't ask you don't set me up to fill. Dude, plus 2000,
Starting point is 00:14:27 that's the bet. Yeah. Dusty May plus, I like, if I, I would go right now and take, actually I'd take all three of them.
Starting point is 00:14:36 I'd take Scott Beard, Dusty May, or Chris Beard, Scott Drew and Dusty May and put them on all three of them. And then I think you'd have a decent shot of getting one of them. That's what I would do.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Muscleman plus $2,500. Musselman's plus $25. I've heard that they're not interested in him, that they were, and maybe found out something they decided not to do it. So who's next? Sorry, Ryan. Joseph is next.
Starting point is 00:14:58 Joseph, go ahead, Joseph. Hey, Matt, I just wanted to ask you, you know, if there was an MVP on our team of the SEC tournament and NCAA tournament, who is your prediction to do it? I like that question. That's a great question. So I appreciate the call. Let's say we go to the Final Four.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Who will be our post-season MVP? And you don't have to guess somebody different. We can all agree if we wanted to. Shannon, I'll let you go for. Reeves. Antonio Reeves. What do you think? I think it's Reeves because it's consistent.
Starting point is 00:15:30 It'll be, he'll just be in every game or the other guys, you know, they'll have a huge game, then a quiet game, and a huge game. I think he'll just be steady enough. I think that's the argument for Reeves is exactly what you just said. We're going to have a game where Dillingham gets 30, and we're going to have a game where DJ Wagner wins it for us too. One of those two. But I think if you're just talking to all the postseason, it'll be Reeves.
Starting point is 00:15:50 And Reed will be great, too. Yeah, like we said it yesterday, he just won every MVP award. He won Bahamas, Canada, the Louisville game. He just shows up and plays. He's the answer. If you're looking to expand your professional network, they're looking to do that, right? Every day. Maybe you're an entrepreneur that wants to learn more about business trends or meet other young entrepreneurs.
Starting point is 00:16:12 I've had a lot of you write me saying you're going to this. It's the inaugural Young Professional Summit in Kentucky. If you are a young business leader or you know someone who wants to be an entrepreneur, start a business, rise through the ranks. Tuesday, April 23rd in Louisville, the Chamber is bringing Kentucky's best and brightest young professionals together. Go to KYchamber.com slash events. I do, I haven't been to this,
Starting point is 00:16:37 but I've been to things like this before. And I said the one I went to met Craig Greenberg, met Morgan McGarvey, met people all over the state that I still have relationships with from an event like this. I think it's a great way to meet future leaders and connections for your time in Kentucky. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR.
Starting point is 00:17:05 All right. Welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio. Getting rocking here in Nashville. All right, I got requests for you. Okay. You said you're going four hours without a break today? Apparently that's what you have to do at 10 roof. Four hours.
Starting point is 00:17:17 That's a national thing. Like where you go on and you don't break and you play for four straight hours. So you're going from 5.30 Central to 9.30 Central. My goodness. That's why I went to bed early last night. Nine. Your vocal cords, that's going to be quite a big. Then I get up the next morning and do the show for three hours.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Wow. Yeah. All right. So what about some of these I don't know, but these feel like down your alley. Something to believe in, poison? Okay. That's an 80s. I remember you by Skid Row.
Starting point is 00:17:47 That's another one that I play on double Q every after. Yeah. Okay. Sweet Home Alabama. That would be something they would like. Can you do that? Alabama fans are like that. Not this week.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Yeah. Main Street, Bob Seeger. Okay, I know that one. Wood by Allison Chains. It's actually on the set list, so we will do that one. Really? Yeah. How's that go?
Starting point is 00:18:09 I'm not going to sing the song for you. Well, you're going to sing it today. Yeah, but I, you know, it'll be like in a, in that I'll be in my vibe and I'll have music behind me. How did I get you in your vibe? Ryan, give me a band. And you need your tight, skinny jeans on. Where is my mind by the Pixies? That's a good song.
Starting point is 00:18:27 I don't know it. I don't know that the band knows it. Guitars Cadillacs by Dwight Yoke. I know that one. And finally, Blue on Black. Kenny Wayne Shepherd, you love that song. I love it. Can you sing that?
Starting point is 00:18:38 Probably could, yeah. Do that one. That'll be, I'd love that. I love that. I love that. Like, you can do it. Come on, do that one. I sound like a little kid.
Starting point is 00:18:49 Please. Come on, man. You can be front row dancing. Please, Shend him. Timp yours right there. I will tip me. If you do Blue on Black, I have to run a credit card. Did you take credit cards?
Starting point is 00:18:58 We don't take Venmo. We were talking last night, and he's not nervous. I'm like, dude, this is a big deal. You're playing on Broadway in Nashville. Yeah, I mean, think about all of the, like, all of the stars who've played there. Like, pretty much everyone that's ever made it in country music has played on Broadway in Nashville. And here comes Alice Blue Gow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Like, this is big time. I mean, Garth. Just another show. And maybe there'll be a talent scout in there. Oh, yeah. Like you could there could be a 10 next thing you know you're opening for Jason Al Dean We open for third-eye blind that's much more exciting We were walking down music row last night
Starting point is 00:19:36 I guess record deals are still a thing But it doesn't seem like it's that big of it Well I was surprised though I didn't music row actually has record companies Yeah I did the people RCA was right just right around the corner there So you got to win a contest on TV to get a record deal these days Why I'm excited for you so 530 to 930 I guess Yes. A marathon at 10 roof.
Starting point is 00:19:58 You guys, when you're in town, stop by and he'll be singing Blue on Black. 859-2-8-0 2287. If it's Kentucky, Tennessee in the final. Wow. This place will go crazy. This town will go crazy. It would be absolutely awesome, don't you think? What is the old plays at West Side Story when they're like snapping on the street, the gangs?
Starting point is 00:20:23 That's going to be us on Broadway. if we're the two last standing Saturday night will be nasty the trash talk I was gonna add that earlier the as fun as the arena was just the bars last night of fans singing their fight songs it's all right we were doing catch chance that usually picks up towards the end of the weekend that is already going strong early this week and it's only going to pick up I get a shout out to Tennessee there's a lot of Tennessee fans aren't here there's a lot of there's a lot of Tennessee fans here early than I can remember in years past a lot of Kentucky fans but there are a lot of Tennessee I mean, I think Saturday's ticket, if you, like I said, if you get those four teams here,
Starting point is 00:21:00 Saturday's ticket will be one of the most expensive SEC tournament. If you have Saturday's ticket, like it's gold, if those four teams make it. Now, if it ends up a couple of them get upset, then if Kentucky or Tennessee gets upset, it's completely different. But if Kentucky and Tennessee are in there with Alabama and Auburn, it'll be the toughest ticket there's been in years. No doubt about it. I mean, great traveling fan bases.
Starting point is 00:21:24 And, I mean, like you said, for a Wednesday night, I was saying this on the pre-show and I'll stand by this. I think this is going to break the attendance record for the SEC tournament. Oh, for sure. Well, I'm being seen to see like what today is. You know, it's not $5 tickets and $2 foot logs or whatever here today. So we'll see. You're worried about getting a ticket on your car, a parking ticket. I was getting some legal advice from my lawyer before we went on the air for the second hour.
Starting point is 00:21:48 You don't, you know, just don't pay it. Is my car still there? I can't see it. It's still there. Is that how that works? That doesn't? for a good legal advice. Look, I'm not giving you legal advice.
Starting point is 00:21:55 I'm not qualified to do that anymore because I'm my... But you have a background. No, I mean, I'm still a lawyer, but like, in order to give legal advice, I'd have to update my CLE, which I'm not doing. We should do it. Well, I don't want to. I'll do it. You'll get around to it.
Starting point is 00:22:10 When I'm, if I ever have to practice logging. But what I'm saying to you is, unless the parking tickets in Kentucky. Yeah. Nah. But what about when I come back to Tennessee? I mean, I'll be here again, presumably. You think they're going to remember? You think they're going to remember?
Starting point is 00:22:24 They might remember that. The only parking ticket that I paid outside of Kentucky was the one in Gettysburg. And they were serious about him. Yes. Why did you pay that one? Because there's a difference between like, you remember when Obama ran for president? He had to pay for like 150 parking tickets because here's a little secret. States don't enforce it unless it's where your license is because it's too hard.
Starting point is 00:22:48 It's too much hassle. But Gettysburg does. Yes, they did. Gettysburg goes through the hassle. Got another but time. And I don't. I mean, they're still living in 1864. So, like, they're fine, and Gettysburg did.
Starting point is 00:23:02 And so that's why I paid it. But in general, they don't. That's why Obama went around and paid all the 150 he had was because he didn't want to look bad. I guess I'm less worried about the ticket and more worried about a tow truck hooking up to the vehicle and taking it to a junkyard. Well, you are in a two-hour parking zone. Well, you have the I-Hart car.
Starting point is 00:23:22 going to tow me first i'm just a toyota i'm here on media you've got logos all over like they said what did they're driving around the block yeah and then just trade parking place there you go i feel that resets the clock does it not i mean yes nobody's watching this of all the things to do they're not watching i don't know i've been watching who's up next got bob up next bob go ahead good morning ks on how are you when you were in larraud county you were right across the road from the Lincoln Memorial National. Yeah, we talked about that. Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:56 First place, Kevin. Well, Lincoln had a disease called Morphans, which elongated his features. And that's why he looks like his fingers were long. His face was thin. Okay. But also his boyhood home was at Azaventville, now Greek. And there, his friends are. There's too many homes.
Starting point is 00:24:19 Hodgimville is the only one that gets Lincoln. home because otherwise everybody has a sign everybody tries to take a piece of lincoln lincoln is hodginville's well his boyhood home is there at afterville where he almost drowned and now creek and his friend saved you well that's good i'm glad they saved him you doing okay bob i just passed my 90th birthday well happy night birthday to you bob nice to see you i might have to go to break Bob, I'm sorry, we got to go to break, but a happy 90th birthday. It's great to hear from. Thank you very much, sir.
Starting point is 00:24:55 859-280-22-87. Kentucky plays it 3-3rd. Remember, Ole Miss and A&M, our Kentucky plays at seven. Yeah. The winner of the game tonight, that's who they play tomorrow night. I'm picking A&M who we're playing. Yeah. Revenge Tour.
Starting point is 00:25:11 That's right. Yeah. But that is probably a harder matchup for us. You're okay with that? Bring it on. You're like, I'm on board. I'm all in. Well, when we come back, we'll sing more of my old Kentucky home, man.
Starting point is 00:25:23 Take your calls. 859-28027 here in Nashville. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Are you singing this tonight? Oh, yeah, yeah, this one. This is when I go do with my pee break, just play the instrumental. You should have me play this little thing right here. You got some decent rhythm.
Starting point is 00:25:57 Oh, I have great rhythm. That's why I'm such a good dancer. It could be a good drummer, maybe. No, I know. I haven't done that. but I've always had rhythm, rhythm, but, you know, I can't do anything else. All right, so for the games today, this is according to Joe Launardi,
Starting point is 00:26:10 Mississippi State wins in, A&M wins, in, St. John's wins, likely in, but not certain. So those are the teams that have the most to play for today. Two of them here. Yeah. Mississippi State, A&M and St. John's playing to get in. Right now, according to Lannardi, the last team in is our man, Cream Abdul-Jabbar.
Starting point is 00:26:32 They're in. So we need the SEC schools to lose. So A&M is the first team out. So A&M tonight, if you want to see Cream Abdul-Jabbar, you probably want to root for Ole Miss tonight to beat A&M. I think the whole country is going to be rooting for that. They just want to see this guy get a chance to play in the NCAA tournament. Cream.
Starting point is 00:26:50 Got to get Cream in. Get on top. Yeah. That was a good line, and you all don't even get it. None of you get any Prince references. Go ahead. I like a little Prince, but, I mean, that's just another reason. Most people already wanted Ole Miss.
Starting point is 00:27:04 If you want Cream Abdul-Jabbar in the tournament, be even bigger Old Miss fan today. Let's do a couple updates. Still no word about the Cape Middleton thing. Still don't know where she is. Still don't know why the picture got. It's all anyone is talking about Britain. Like it's the end, it is.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Is she missing? You say they don't know where she is? Well, I mean, I'm sure she's in England, but like still no, since that picture, no anything. I wouldn't either. I mean, if somebody analyzes every time you post a picture that much, I mean, they're probably not going to post any more pictures in the future. I mean, okay, look, I am always of the belief people should get to live in privacy. So I'm not saying she has to do anything.
Starting point is 00:27:45 She should do whatever she wants. I honestly don't care what she does. But if she stood in front of a camera for a minute, it all go away. So the fact that she doesn't do it. The fact that she doesn't do, no, I mean, like, if she just, like, walked outside. She live streamed. And she just walked outside and they had one camera there and she said, hello, like it would be fine. So, like, it's probably the case that for whatever reason they don't want to do that.
Starting point is 00:28:11 It doesn't matter to me. But, like, in America, if all of a sudden Joe Biden was considered missing, they would just, like, have a press conference and he'd be there. And then he'd go back. Yeah. Remember when Trump was in the hospital that one time? Remember during COVID? There was like two or three days where nobody knew what was going on. then they eventually released a video so that people knew, well, he's alive and he's here.
Starting point is 00:28:36 Yeah. So, I mean, wouldn't you, wouldn't they do that? I think that's what has sparked the conspiracy there. She had a health scare, and she was in the hospital or gone for weeks. Now she comes back in this photo that appears to have been altered. It just has given everybody a little. Well, hope she's okay. Hope she's okay.
Starting point is 00:28:51 That's obviously the main thing. She's refusing to release the unedited photo, which makes me wonder what was so bad in that unedited photo that couldn't be released. least. Yeah, I don't know. But that's all anyone's talking about there. Probably new season of the crown is now. They're losing to the ones.
Starting point is 00:29:07 They are, wherever she is, they are bad at Photoshop. That is a fact now. There's three different photos where it is amateur hour where they're trying to fake stuff. Yeah. And the guy who killed the moose poorly, end up winning the Iditaria. He won. He won. Even with his two-hour, even with his two-hour moose, first of all, he had to kill the moose.
Starting point is 00:29:28 He had to gut the moose. Annie gutted it so poorly that he had a two-hour penalty, yet he still was able to win after killing said Moose to win the Iditarod. I think this is bad for future Moose. I mean, he's shown if they're in the way, you can still do it. There's casualties. No reason to swerve. Is this guy that good or is the rest of the field that slow?
Starting point is 00:29:54 They are not good. If you got guys out here just killing moose and sitting around, eating it, and then getting there and beating you. Still can do it two hours later. The two hour penalty, and he still comes back to win. Of course, I have no idea how long this race is. So just two hours. I mean, if it's a month.
Starting point is 00:30:08 It's a month-long race, then two hours is probably not that big a deal. So I have no idea how long it is. I'd like to watch this, though. I mean, can you keep... Not a month. Maybe, you know, 20 minutes if it's streaming somewhere on the box. Yeah, I don't know how much you want to watch it, honestly. But, you know, there you go.
Starting point is 00:30:27 A live betting of a moose? Live betting of a moose. Who's next? Jay and Lyndon is next. Jay and Lyndon, how are you? I'm good, Shannon. You've got to be counting crows in you. Oh, yeah, I know plenty counting crows.
Starting point is 00:30:40 What about Rain King? Why don't you do that one? Okay. Those are high notes in that song. Yeah, I don't know if I could sing that. Yes. So, hey, the first thing I wanted to wish my mom a speedy recovery and the surgery shed Tuesday, but before the tournament starts,
Starting point is 00:30:54 I want to get some positive mojo going. You all kind of discuss this. we were at kind of a dark time this summer. We lose Dickinson. We think Reeves is going back. We're all criticizing Cal, and we wanted him to make changes. So, Matt, would you add anything to this list? This is what we need to applaud Cal for.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Most points we've scored since 1975 regular season. Regular season, most threes, 174 that we've shot. In 1718, we only shot 89 threes. This is the second best free throw percentage in the regular season ever. And Ron, I think you'll like this. The weave to nowhere is now the week. Are you that? Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:37 I think everything you just said, by the way, are we on? Can you hear me, Jay? I can hear you. Okay, all right, I thought we did. Yes, it deserves credit for all of it. The office, look, and I think you raise a broader point. I appreciate the call. So let's talk about what we said this summer,
Starting point is 00:31:54 and I'm not acting like we were the only people to say it. There were other people saying. There were like three or four things, really going back almost two years. that we said needed to happen. And I think you could make a strong argument. Cal's done three of them for sure. And the fourth one, everybody could debate. One said, got to change his offense.
Starting point is 00:32:14 Right, got to change the offense. Got to make it more modern. Got to use modern offensive philosophies. He's done that. Yep. And he's actually done it while still incorporating moments of the offense he likes. He'll still run the floppy action a few plays. and with Antonio Reeves, it actually works pretty well
Starting point is 00:32:32 because it gets him these little open looks. But they've shot more threes than any year since Petino was here. They've made them three of the six best shooters. When it comes to offense, to me, he has done exactly what people would like. Second, we said you've got to go back and start getting your dudes. You got to go get studs. And he did it.
Starting point is 00:32:55 They got a great class. And what's amazing is the lowest-rate members of the class, ended up being the best players, right? Dillingham was a fourth highest ranked guy. Shepard was a fifth highest ranked guy, and they ended up being the best players out of the group. So he did a great job. We also said you need to get some older guys.
Starting point is 00:33:14 He did it, and our oldest guy, Ryan, is our best play in Antonio Reeves. You know, third, we said he needed to start figuring out situational stuff. They needed to find a way to win at the end of games. Yes, it's been a little sloppy in a couple of these. wins, but they still won the games. So even though we lost a lot of close games in the beginning of the year, last two or three in the last seven or eight games, we've had them come down. The only one we lost was a freak play against the LSU.
Starting point is 00:33:40 So Ryan, I think that one's, he's hit that one. Fourth thing said you've got to, like, reconnect with the fans. I still have some thoughts on some of the stuff he says and in the games. With that said, it's better than it was. It was. It was, I think it was really bad. now it's just go get soup so I mean
Starting point is 00:34:03 I'd say 3.75 of the four things that we mentioned he's done so I think you got to give him credit Drew for that because those were all issues everything I said about them being issues like I'm not the people who when we win right go what you got to say
Starting point is 00:34:21 now Matt no I'm praising him but everything we said was valid and he has changed those things and you got to give him credit for it. Yeah for me The three-point shooting really stands out because when Nate Oates was new at Alabama and they were taking so many, he played some good games. I remember he kind of mocked that style in the press cars. Like, how many you want us to shoot? You know, we took this minute.
Starting point is 00:34:39 He kind of got defensive about it. And this year when he has the pieces, he's really embraced it. And I'm not saying it's playing the same style of ball, but it is, they're shooting a lot of threes. Nate Oates even said after he played, he gave Cal credit. He said credit to Cal he out coached me today. And he also built his roster with more shooters. He didn't have that in the past. and it's, you know, he's getting credit from other coaches.
Starting point is 00:35:00 It's clear he did what he needed to do it, and embraced really the offense is what was, I think, the biggest hiccup. The key to success is being able to, you know, adapt to change. Like, change is happening whether you like it or not in life. So the question is, can you adapt? You know, in the media, newspapers for a long time chose not to adapt to social media and the blog world. And some of them waited too long,
Starting point is 00:35:27 and they have not been able to recover. Some of them like the New York Times got on it quick, and now they're a hugely successful thing. Sports Illustrated didn't. And now they're going away. They're hiring robots. I mean, like, change is coming whether you like it or not. And so the question is, how do you adapt?
Starting point is 00:35:46 I think with the announcement of the NIL thing today, with the change in style and play, with the way, you know, on social media, absent the little photo shoot with the vest and the cones and the shovel, I think they've been pretty good at the social media stuff. I think Ryan, they want you to forget about that. Yeah, that's trouble.
Starting point is 00:36:08 They have done what you need to do to adapt, and he deserves a lot of credit. I totally agree with everything you just said, and I would even give a 4A, when you talk about the game prep bringing in John Welk. Yes, great one. I think that's another reason where he improved the program and what they do behind the scenes.
Starting point is 00:36:27 You know, no offense to Riley Welch, but he was the main scout team guy last year. Now you've got... Well, they went brought in his dad. Brought in his dad who is like, that's his forte. Exactly. So, yes. Now, with all that said, you still go out to win in March.
Starting point is 00:36:41 Yeah. You know, but everything else, I think, has been done the right way. Hey, it is tournament time. It's going on, and Draft Kings is the place. Starting point is 00:37:42 Final segment here, Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. I got a joke you're going to like, Ryan Lim, you're ready? I love good jokes. This is from the text machine, 772-75-4-1-person writes, Matt. The guy who won the Iditarai when he came in, he said, look, I'm sorry, moose stakes were made. If you really said that, I love him.
Starting point is 00:38:02 He didn't. but I still think it's a good joke, don't you? Shannon didn't like it. You hate puns. Why do you hate puns? I do like puns if they're good. Why do you hate puns? I like puns when they're funny.
Starting point is 00:38:10 Ponds are funny. Moose steaks were made. He killed moose. That's funny. Moose steaks. You could even if he ate them. And you could even say exactly after it's a double pun. It's two puns.
Starting point is 00:38:23 You had a moose steak after he killed it. Do you get it? You have to explain the joke. I get the joke. It's not going to make it any funnier about you explaining it to me. I think we have grouchy Shannon on day two. We started, he hated the SEC tournament in the first. So here's what I'm going to do so people know.
Starting point is 00:38:43 Tonight, at some point, I'm going to live stream a little bit of Shannon's performance. Okay, awesome. If you don't follow me on Instagram, because I don't understand, when I try to do Twitter live videos, I don't know if Elon just sits there and approves them or not, but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I know my Instagram live works. So KY Sports Radio, but I'm going to live, we have to do a lot of this content. So I'm going to live stream Shannon a little bit. And then when it's over, we'll see how grouchy you are, because you are a little grouchy.
Starting point is 00:39:13 It's only Thursday. I'm actually in a great mood. This is me in a good mood. He's already threatened to go home Saturday morning. Yes. And we just got here. I think I probably will, you know. I mean, I need it.
Starting point is 00:39:23 OVW is Saturday night. We got a big show. But Saturday might be the best day of the SEC tournament in years. It might be the worst. You never know. but you'll never find out if you're not here it's true either way I can watch it on this great thing called
Starting point is 00:39:37 television unbelievable you're such most people I'm not credential you and I agree with this true this is the thing about both these guys now Ryan to his credit sucks it up and does
Starting point is 00:39:47 95% of the stuff we ask Shannon 30% so many people listening to this would give anything to trade spots with them am I right about that the idea that you could
Starting point is 00:40:01 be paid to go around the country and watch UK basketball and talk about it. I'd say 95 to 98% of our state. What is going on? With a bachelor's party walking. It's Thursday morning at 10.30. Why don't wave? What are you? She could be their grandfault.
Starting point is 00:40:20 Don't wave. She was waving at us. Yeah, she was. She was. She was waving at us. I think she saw me sitting here. Brian. Back to.
Starting point is 00:40:29 back to shaming us what's the women's shirt day shirt you put your women's day shirt on 98% of people listening would change their life to live and get to do what they do and yet saying would you like to go to the best day
Starting point is 00:40:50 of the SEC tournament in 20 years sometimes it's like oh no my feet hurt and it's like come on Well, 98% of the people are in the same boat as I am. You're not credentialed, neither am I. So if you're not trained places for me, there's not much difference.
Starting point is 00:41:06 Oh, he does have a good point. You have the draft Kings bar, though. You have the draft king? Not everyone has that. The draft Kings is putting us up in the bar, giving us couch leather seats. I've been there. They have good food. And we have $1,000 in free food and drinks.
Starting point is 00:41:19 That's a lot of food. And you're not in your back on them. Aren't we going there like now? Yes, but you could watch the game there Saturday. I'm saving them money. There are people right. now yelling at their speaker at Shannon? They should. You should be mad. And Ryan, now, to his credit, he's working to get to go to as much as the term as possible, but sometimes I'm like, hey, let's go
Starting point is 00:41:38 to Vegas to watch Kentucky and Carolina. And he's like, yeah, three on three games. You know, this can be very exhausting, but we are very spoiled of what we get to do. Sometimes there can be a Tuesday night 9 p.m. game, and I'm like, you are going to watch Kentucky basketball. You are not complaining about this. And that, you feel that way about Wednesday at the end. Wednesday at the SEC tournament. Yeah. All right. We only get 52 Wednesdays a year, Matt, and only one of them is the SEC tournament.
Starting point is 00:42:05 That's right. And we only get so many years of our life. And if you want to use it watching Mississippi State, LSU, you should. Who's next? Bob is up next. Bob, go ahead, Bob. Do you see a possibility if Kentucky wins at all? Yeah, of course.
Starting point is 00:42:22 Calgary passing the reins over and take a go out of winter and retire. No. I don't know. I appreciate the call. I mean, it would be interesting if you were, like, wanting a storybook ending, winning the title and then, like, moving on would be the way to do it. But I don't know. I don't know what it'll do.
Starting point is 00:42:40 I do think for the first – I have been convinced for two years. This would be Cal Perry's last season. I don't believe that anymore. I think that if you just look at everything that's happened, I think he's going to keep going. And I – I would say even back in, like, December, I would have told you. It's more than likely this is last year. I don't believe that anymore. I think things have changed.
Starting point is 00:43:01 I thought so, too. This is his group. They ride it out. He's about to turn 65 years old. I think all those things kind of lined up with its time for him to maybe step away. I really did. I could still see the walk off if he were to win it. The whole thing, I mean, with DJ Wagner being your last after you had DeWan years ago.
Starting point is 00:43:16 Read with the Kentucky fans. I'm not saying I would want this to happen. If he were to win it and waive, there would not be a better exit than winning the title like that with those guys. Who's up next? Chuck is up next. Chuck, about a minute. ahead. Guys,
Starting point is 00:43:31 make it quick. Don't put us on speaker. Okay, hang on a second. I got it. Chuck, you know, like you know, you listen to the show. All right,
Starting point is 00:43:47 I appreciate the call. I can't wait for you to get your speaker phone. You know, just, I feel like your SEC energy just lift, lift your body with that one call. I mean,
Starting point is 00:43:58 it sounds like he's on the toilet when he calls. And that's, you know, cornbreadthemp.com, I'm good. Go to go to groanbreddhimp.com. Provo codes KSR. You can get your March is blue t-shirt. My grass is blue. March is blue, too.
