Ryan and Drew and Shannon are in Louisville for, it is, I guess, Monday Marathon, except it is on Tuesday.
And Ryan, tell everybody where you are and what's going on there in Louisville.
We are at Martin's Barbecue Joint.
It's just off the Gene Snyder and Westport Road on Indian Lake Drive, 35.
4.08 Indian Lake Drive is where we are.
Really cool place. One of those kind of those throwback places where they got all the old
license plates up on the wall and things like that. So that's what we are today, Matt.
Martin's barbecue. You might need to, you got a little echo and you're kind of not very loud.
So maybe we can work on that while you're there too.
Shannon and Billy sounded good, but you sound like you're a little far away.
But I'm glad you're Martin's barbecue.
And Shannon, you were telling me this hour we're giving something away.
What do we give it away?
We have tickets to the MMA fight at the Expo Center.
I didn't even know we had MMA fights here in Louisville,
but apparently we got one coming up on March 29th.
You can win tickets to that, four tickets today here at Martin's Barbecue.
All right.
Hey, Rick, are you hearing what I'm hearing or no?
It does not sound to me like it did in the last show.
Am I wrong?
No, you're coming in loud and clear.
I know me.
What about them?
Sounds like they're coming in through the speaker.
Are they not?
No, they're fine.
Okay.
All right.
Well, then I'll, I can handle it.
859-280-2287.
Drew, I'm here at this ESPN seaport.
This is where when you turn on your television
and you see first take and you see the get-up show,
they're all filmed right here.
They let me in to do this,
and I already had an awkward interaction.
I literally just a few minutes ago saw JJ Reddick.
He was standing right here next to me.
And, you know, this wouldn't have happened pre-9.
11, but I reached out to shake his hand and he reached out to give me a fist bump and I ended up just
grabbing his fist, Drew, and that's a really weird interaction. I'm sure you all have done that at
some point. So my first impression of JJ Redick is I think I grabbed his fist and made him feel
awkward. I usually bat about 500 ongoing handshake or fist bump with people. That happens. I'm just
more surprised that you even had any kind of interaction with J.J. Reddick at all. Well, he was right
there. I thought he might blow
by you, you blow by him, and just
didn't feel like you all would be
very gorgeous. First of all, if you turn on
television and you see those shows,
it looks like
it is a massive place.
It is not. It is
an absolutely tiny place. I'm
in a closet here. There's no windows.
This is
where when people do
interviews sometimes, like if
Stephen A is on Pat
McAfee's show or whatever, he sits in this
closet right here and it is tiny and this entire building is pretty tiny so you can't help but run into
each other i i miss stephen a he came in i think earlier maybe with security ride so i didn't see him
but i saw everyone else and i know some of them i didn't know j j reddick and i ended up just
grabbing his fist so i don't know that i will be on his new podcast with lebron anytime soon dude
i don't know what we can do about that because it happens to all of us you you one person holds
out the fist the other person was out the hand i mean what do you do you have to do what you
You just did. You just grab his fist and shake his fist. I mean, I just grabbed his fist, Shannon. I don't want to be known as a fist grabber. I'd like to be able to have normal interactions, but I was not able to do it today.
Happens to me at least a couple of times every week. You know, it's customary when you go backstage in a wrestling arena. You got to shake everybody's hand. I never know if we go in for the handshake or the fist bump. You remember that one guy that I met. You'll know his name. I don't know his name, but he just shook my finger. I bet on the New York Times.
You remember that, Jonathan Martin.
That's exactly right.
So I'm being told, by the way, on the text machine that what I'm hearing is correct,
that you guys sound like, you guys are in my ear hard to hear and you sound very echoey and far away.
And the text machine, Rick, is full of people saying that exact same thing.
That's not how Shannon and Billy sounded on their show.
So I don't know what to say.
I don't know how to fix that in New York, but you guys maybe should want to try that because you're,
I think you are hard to hear and very, very echo.
So can we make it to a break or do we need to try to address this in this moment?
Because I don't know what you all to do need to do about it, but I don't think it can
continue like this.
So you all figure out what you're doing.
I will be here in this closet in New York.
We're between Rick and Billy and those of you.
I think you can make it happen.
We will take a break and we'll come back and we'll get it all to the news.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio.
It is Tuesday, the 19th, 859, 280, 2287, A Vision Auto Glass, Text Machine.
is 772-7-7-4-5-254.
Ryan this morning,
John Cal-Perry announced he has a new podcast.
His first guest is Barack Obama.
The podcast is with Barack Obama's brother-in-law,
Craig Robinson.
You may remember he coached, I think, like Princeton,
and then he went to maybe...
Oregon State.
Oregon State, that's right.
So the two of them have a podcast.
Obama is the first.
guest. It is said the podcast is, quote, to take on-court wisdom to apply to your off-court
challenges. So it is, I guess, life advice from Calo Perry and Craig Robinson and Obama is their
first guest. And in the first podcast, Obama picked Kentucky to go to the finals and lose to Yukon,
the same bracket I had. So I guess that is the liberal bracket. But Ryan, what do you think of the Cal Obama,
Craig Robinson podcast coming out.
I think it'll be good.
I mean, you know, I enjoyed when Cal did the podcast a couple years ago.
He actually has great guests and they're actually really good to listen to.
So I think this will be a good debut for whatever they're going to try to do now with this.
By the way, I am totally fine with it.
I think it's, I think it will get a lot of attention.
I think it'll be positive.
I also think the timing of it ensures Drew that people will lose their mind,
but that will probably entertain me, so I'm good with it.
Yeah, my biggest complaint was when I heard about,
it. I thought it was comedian Craig Robinson,
Darrell from the office. And I was like, this is going to be awesome.
That would be awesome. But it'll still be good with their
coaching philosophies. I don't know that I will
tune in, but I'm not opposed to Cal doing it. I did when I saw
his tweet thought I'm not going to open these mentions
and read what he's getting back right now.
But, you know, whatever, good for him.
I don't really need any coaching advice this
offseason, but I'm sure it'll be a hit. No, it's not
coaching advice, it's life advice.
But with their coaching wisdom.
This is coach, Shannon. It's to use your
on court wisdom for your off court challenges.
Shannon, I feel like that's aimed directly at you.
You know, Matt, I have a lot of off court challenges,
so I feel like that I can learn a lot from this.
How about my man just swinging for the fence is getting Obama as his first guest?
That's a pretty good first guest, right?
There's something to be said about maybe building up to a big guest.
He's coming out swinging right away with Obama.
Well, he does have his brother-in-law,
so that probably helps in terms of getting him,
make the wife happy by picking the brother-in-law.
But the timing of it, again,
Doesn't bother me.
I think it like makes complete sense.
But Ryan, I just, I, it is hilarious to me that that would be.
They're like, oh, it's Tuesday before your first NCAA tournament game and maybe your most important one.
Let's just roll out a new podcast in Obama.
I'm sure that'll be very well received.
Yeah, I think we all had the same thought.
Just don't even open up the mentions because it could be.
Don't read the mentions.
So life lessons, like when parents have two kids, they can play man to man.
but that third kid, then they have to play zone with three kids.
I'm sure that's what they'll get into.
Those are life lessons as related to what you learn on the basketball court.
I don't know what that means, but it makes sense.
You have to listen.
But you know, though, if they were to get upset, that's what the fans are going to go towards.
Cal's been focusing on this podcast.
His head's not in the game.
They're going to blend the podcast.
I did listen to like the first five minutes.
And in it, Obama said he picked Kentucky in 2015.
And Cal said, well, that's probably why we lost.
So, Drew, that was the first five minutes of the start of the show.
Cow is very superstitious.
Why did he let him get away with picking it again?
If it's a call back to 2015, I wouldn't have let him off the show until he changed that prediction.
Well, he has us to the finals and he has us losing to, has us losing to Yukon.
The podcast is titled, let's see, it had a very unique, it had a very unique name,
Ways to Win.
So the podcast is called Ways to Win, if you want to check it out and don't as Ryan.
and said read the midget. So the UK NCAA tournament expectations, I think, I think through this,
I looked yesterday when I got into the city and I just sort of started looking online. And I think
oddly, the fact that our bracket looks so manageable and easy has almost led people's expectations
to skyrocket through the roof. And actually has made it to where I feel like if they don't
get to the elite eight you're going to have a lot of frustrated fans is that the sense you've gotten so far
absolutely and i kind of said that when the bracket came out to some friends like with this path
whatever you're thinking it kind of makes it clear where they go out i mean if they were to lose in that
first round if you're kentucky basketball with the goals we have that's just not acceptable
that's a disaster yeah really up until you get to houston the worthy opponent in the elite eight
i think anything short of that is a massive disappointment with the path they got i i think you're
to end up. I mean, first of all, I think Kentucky will beat Oakland fairly easily. If they try to
play zone, which is what they play, I don't think that works against Kentucky. I think Kentucky
shoots the ball way too well. I think there's a reason we haven't seen many teams play it this year,
Ryan, whereas like in the last few years, we saw zone a lot. I don't think you can zone this
team. And if Oakland ends up trying to play that the whole time, there's just no way that's going to
work. But put that to the side. In the second round, you get Texas Tech. I don't think that's a bad
match up either. So I think you're going to get to the Marquette game, a game where I think
if you were to look at the top siege, you would choose them as your opponent. To me, if you lose
that one, that's extremely disappointing. So it does, oddly, it's given them a better path,
but I do think, Ryan, it's actually put more pressure on the individual games. And you know,
we've had these reports come out now where Kentucky was tight going into the Texas A&M game. And I think
That situation, yeah, man.
There's so much pressure on these guys that they cannot fail.
They need to make a big run.
I think the pressure will even start from the top.
I think Cal will be tense and that may filter down to the players.
So it definitely, you know, what he tried to do?
He took him out bowling the other night.
He's trying to do things, I think, to kind of loosen them up a little bit.
And I think he'll probably have to do some more of that.
He said that people would not like that he took them out bowling.
Shannon, I was fine with it.
I like a good bowling.
Bowling's a good time.
You know, we have the KSR bowling league starting.
April, bowling's fun.
I got no problem with bowling.
Yeah, I'm good with that.
Yeah, I mean, these guys know how to shoot.
They know how to play basketball.
I think, you know, it's probably good just to get these guys loosened up,
get their mind off of it just for a few minutes, you know,
and go out and do something that is fun before they hopefully burn down the tournament
starting on Thursday.
When I read the thing you said, Drew, about how people thought they were nervous or
there was some talk about them being nervous.
I did worry a little bit about that because I think one of the strengths of this team is they haven't been nervous all year.
They go into these places.
I think one of the reasons they play so well on the road is that they're not intimidated by these environments.
And it reminds me, you and I've talked about this many times of 2014 when that team seemed to be playing with House Money got to the championship game and it was like all of a sudden the gravity of everything hit them and we saw them during warmups.
And I thought, man, these dudes look different than they've looked in other games.
I didn't really see that in Texas A&M,
but there are people who have said that was true.
I hope if that's true, it doesn't go into the tournament.
I remember at halftime I was hanging out at the SunKiss machine
at the SEC tournament, and I wasn't even mad at the score or A&M hitting shots.
Their players were just so loose in Kentucky.
It wasn't like there was just overwhelming pressure on them,
but cows yon a little bit.
Part of that was the score.
A&M had already gained a little confidence in the first half.
But that was my biggest concern that when Kentucky has 99% of the crowd,
you're the favorite, you're the team that's supposed to win.
Why are the other guys pumping up their fists and clapping and having fun
when it's looking like you're going to the dentist sometimes?
So I don't know if that's a coaching issue or what.
I just hope we don't see that on Thursday or really at any point early in the tournament.
Whatever it was, I don't want to see it repeat because that is a,
that's just like you have to play loose, especially these guys.
These guys as much as any, I think playing and having fun is a big part of how they've had success.
Now, Ryan, he was asked on his radio show last night if he was going to change the starting lineup.
And he basically said, no.
And then he said, but I might.
But he noted that he thought it still didn't make any difference.
Now, I've always been of the view that it doesn't make a difference.
I've kind of always been of the view that like, well, what do you care?
But then I started thinking about a few weeks ago the fact that you start this lineup,
but then you don't play again for the rest of the game.
Cal said last night, look, what difference does it make?
I sub two minutes in.
Part of me would hear that ride and go, well, if the lineup's good,
why do you need to sub two minutes in?
Like, what's the point of that?
I do wonder, do you think there's any chance he starts a different lineup at any game of this tournament?
I would bet my paycheck.
The answer is no.
He just will not do it.
That's it. Those are his guys.
He's always afraid he to lose them if he does not start him.
But we saw the A&M game, man.
There were a couple of those guys that were starting lineup that weren't ready for the moment.
And they did play seem a little timid, a little tense, and they carried that out throughout the game.
So you dig yourself out of a hole every single game they go out there.
You know, they got down 8-1.
They did battle back and eventually take a little lead there.
But he won't do it, man.
Do you think he will?
I don't think he will.
He says he'll bet the paycheck.
Should we bet him the paycheck?
I'll take it.
Well, you know what?
I might.
I might bet him the paycheck.
But you know how stubborn cowl is.
But I think that he should change up the lineup for this game
because when you're playing a team like Oakland,
the last thing you want to do is give a team like that a little bit of confidence,
the belief that they can actually beat you.
And if they come out and jump ahead, you know,
with the big lead at the very beginning of the game,
that's the exact opposite of what I want to have happen
against the team like Oakland to give them any sort of confidence that they can beat you.
And you were supposed to, Shane,
and find Oakland facts.
I've got them.
All right, so give me some Oakland facts.
This is our first game against Oakland in Michigan, the Shannon the dude, Oakland facts.
Okay, first of all, did you know that Oakland University is a public research university?
Did not know that.
I had no idea.
I don't know ironic since I was doing research on them.
The admission rate is 92 percent, so in other words, they'll let anybody in at Oakland.
It's not hard to get in there.
Not really big on academics there at Oakland.
Come on.
Anybody with a high school diploma, you're in?
Yes.
I wrote down hopefully Pittsburgh doesn't.
doesn't have an Elm Street because Oakland University is the school that Robert England,
a.k.a. Freddie Krueger graduated from. Did you know that?
Freddie Kruger!
Yes. Drew, were you a nightmare on Elm Street fan over the years?
I love the old horror movies, but that one I wasn't a big fan of. I guess I kind of liked it a little
bit, but I was more of a Michael Myers guy. Yeah, there was too many of them, right? But he is like
a horror movie icon. How many nightmare on Elm Street's were there?
Like 26. No, there's not. No, I mean, there's probably like in all honesty, probably 10.
I thought, yeah, I was going to say like eight.
But, I mean, didn't they, do they still make them?
I feel like I see one of those.
Well, they did a remake several years ago, but they used a different actor, and that didn't work.
Like Robert England is Freddie Kruger.
You can't use some other actor and pretend that nobody knows the difference.
All right.
And what else?
One more for you here.
David Hasselhoff, who, of course, is famous for Baywatch.
And druggantly eating a cheeseburger off a bathroom floor is a graduate from Oakland University.
So there you go.
So they produced Freddie Kruger and David Hasselhoff?
Yeah, a couple of beachbonds.
That's a pretty good duo for a school that size, don't you think?
It's an odd duo.
It is.
I would think so.
Is there a town, Oakland, Michigan?
It's in Rochester, Michigan, I believe.
That's right.
They used to be a Division II school back when I was at Wesleyan,
and they had a good basketball program back in the day when they were battle Wesleyan a lot.
I remember that.
So they used to play Wesley.
Yeah, yeah, and then the Division II tournament a lot.
They went up in 1997.
Is that when they went to Division I?
That's when they became the Golden Grizzlies.
They used to be the Patriots.
Now, what did you think about Caliperi saying, Ryan,
that he might go quite a bit with,
or he might play decent amount of minutes with two seven footers in the tournament
to help our defense?
You know, I love it when he says stuff like that
because we all just kind of shake our head and like, come on, man.
You know, we've seen this team.
We know what works.
know what doesn't work.
But do you think he'll do it?
No.
And here's the problem.
We only have one seven footer that can actually play defense.
So why are you putting two in to play defense when Hugo is the only guy that can play
defense?
Is there a chance, though, if you played, again, I'm just thinking out loud.
If you played the three guards that we lie and you played Z and Hugo, Drew, do you think
that would work?
Maybe he gets Oakland.
I really hate the two seven footers together in any scenario, unless they were really
protecting the rim and you've got like an A&M when they're just attacking.
Against Oakland, they take the least amount of two-point shots in the entire term.
Actually, the second least.
There's one team worse.
So I don't know that protecting the rim will be a big issue in that first game.
But maybe as the bracket goes on, you run into a matchup where you need it.
But I hope he's not doing it in round one.
I hope he's not as well.
All right, who's up first, Rick?
Got Richard up first.
Richard, go ahead, Richard.
I finally got over losing.
No, I agree.
not have gotten a bad draw.
Our only concern, and y'all just brought it,
that gets us once every time,
and we're digging out of a hole,
if we have to play Marquette or Houston,
and we get down 10 points starting up
before they ever substitute,
you might as well go on and warm up the bus
because we're coming home.
And I hope, and one other thing,
what hurt us.
Yes.
They need to be shooting 15 times a piece.
That's all I'm with you on that.
And I appreciate the call.
And some of that is on how the offense ran.
But some of that Drew is on them.
They, they, Shepard, especially in the second half, he passed up shot after shot.
And I didn't understand why that Richard is exactly right.
Those two dudes have got to shoot 22 to 20 to 30 times.
I mean, you know, sometimes it might be more like 22 to 25.
But I, if we're going to go down, I want to go down with those dudes swinging to make sure we gave ourselves.
is the best chance. Yeah, me, you and Ryan kind of set in the same spot in that A&M game,
and he turned down one right in front of us. Yep. And I mean, the way he's been playing, he's a 50,
50% shooter. He went 7 of 10 at Tennessee. I'm to the point. I want that guy ball hogging. I mean,
if there's a guy on your face shoot it if you want, certainly don't turn down the ones that are
wide open like he was in that second half when you're trying to mount a comeback. I'm not going to say,
Ryan, there's no bad shot that those dudes take, but there ain't many. And if they're open, I don't care
where they are or how early it is in the offense, if they're open, Ryan, I want them shooting.
I don't care. We're not going to find a better shot than one of those two dudes open.
Two of the best shooters we've ever had in the history of this program. Yeah, we want them to have
more shots. But we saw it when Reeves went to the bench and foul trouble, that guy who was
defending him switched over to Reed and it rattled Reed. And that was in the second half a lot when
that guy was on him. And he did pass up a couple shots that he has absolutely have to take.
He made an extra pass that he thought was a good play,
but he passed it to a much worse shooter for another open three,
and he missed it when region had been the one to take that.
Like he,
sometimes it might be, quote, unquote, a better play to pass to another guy,
but you got to remember that you're the great shooter on the team.
I do think that game, and Ryan hit it a couple times.
When Reeves went out, I think Pete,
it showcased how important it is that he gets the other team's best defender so often.
Yep.
Because it was different with our office.
offense when there wasn't the threat of him out there.
It just changed the way these other guys, it kind of went down the line.
And each of them seemed to struggle when that occurred.
It shows you how important he is to how this team plays.
We will take a break.
I'm here in New York.
There in Louisville, we'll be right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live.
Yes, I can hear that crowd.
Got to pop.
That's a nice crowd at Martin's Barbecue Joint.
Tell folks about Martins.
I'm not there, so I can't taste the barbecue, but I would like to.
I am excited to try the barbecue for lunch.
It's a really cool place.
I kind of got that barbecue smell as soon as you get out of your car.
Man, it just kind of knocks you over.
But it's just off the Gene Snyder and Westport Road on Indian Lake Drive and come on out.
All the stars have been here, Matt.
Terry Miners, Nick Coffee, Tony Vanetti.
All the big stars have been out here in the last two days.
Well, that's good. And now you can go there and we are giving away MMA tickets. Am I right, Shannon?
That's right. Yep, a four pack of tickets to MMA at the Expo Center coming up on March 29th.
I'm not sure who's on the card, but if you want to go see some MMA, here's your chance.
There's your chance. And that's this hour. You can win the MMA tickets. We'll be giving up something else out in the next hour.
Thanks to Martin's Barbecue Joint and all the folks with the Monday Marathon on Tuesday. Drew, you're going to take off and come towards Pittsburgh.
I'm driving to Pittsburgh today.
Still trying to formalize our place to watch the games,
but I think we might have a candidate close to the arena.
Are you looking forward to being in Pittsburgh?
I am, but my excitement this morning I noticed turned to a little more nerves than excitement.
Not that I'm worried about the game or anything,
but it's kind of hit me that it's right here in front of us.
And that this team we love so much that at best at six games or at worst,
it's one game, and it's about to get started.
So as excited as I am, the butterflies are kicking in a little bit today.
One person writes, I am very upset at Shannon.
He listed all the famous people and did not mention Booger from Revenge of the Nerds went to Oakland.
Well, this might surprise you, but I've never seen Revenge of the Nerds.
So I don't know who Booger is.
You don't know who Booger is?
How have you never seen Revenge of the Nerds?
Because I'm not a nerd.
And we're very, very upset.
I don't like anything about nerds getting revenge.
So I've never seen food.
First of all, you understand.
you're a nerd, right?
I'm not a nerd.
Yes, you are.
No, you're a nerd.
You're a nerd.
You're a duke.
I am a nerd.
First of all, the difference is, I admit it.
All of us are nerds.
You are just as nerdy, though.
You do wrestling.
You are nerdy.
It's an athlete.
I don't think that's nerdy.
Ryan, Shannon, nerd, yes or no?
No.
No, he's a rock star and a wrestler who wears tight.
He is not a nerd.
Stop.
Drew.
Is Shannon,
a nerd. All four of us are nerds in our own little nerdy ways. Yes, we all have nerdy tendencies.
But I don't like that Shannon will not accept his natural nerdiness and continues to try to fight it.
I don't think that's what you need to do. Again, during the break, I just saw JJ Reddick.
And I don't know. Now I feel like, Drew, I can't ever talk to him because I've grabbed his hand.
And I feel like that's, I just feel like our relationship's already over. I mean, just so it doesn't continue to be
You should just go up and be like, this is really bothering me.
Can we do it again?
Like I've had anxiety since I saw you.
Maybe a hug or go into it.
But what if the opposite happens this time?
Like you go on for the fist bump and he grabs your hand.
That's true.
So you don't know.
You got to figure out like what you're handshake or a fist bump guy.
I feel like when you grab somebody's hand, it's over.
The thing is when JJ Reddick played between me and you, Ryan, he might have been one of
my three or four least favorite players of all time.
I mean, it's really like Leitner, joke him, Noah, and then probably him, if we're
being honest. I mean, when he was at Duke, like, it's him and Grace and Allen for the second
most annoying Duke guy, right? I agree. Yeah, when he was due, he was the epitome of the Duke guy that
you want to root against. There's no doubt about it. I just say, though, is the worst thing,
like when you have like an opinion of somebody who you've never met like this guy, you don't
like them, then you meet them, they're actually likable. No, it's, it happens all the time. Like,
the worst thing, I've told this before, but Greg Doyle told me years ago, don't get to know anyone you
because then you'll like them and you can't do your job.
And there's a lot to that.
We just talked about this yesterday with Doug Schauss.
Like when you meet people that you genuinely think are bad,
then you, like, what are you going to do?
That's why I try my best.
I'm not saying I'm good at this,
but I try my best not to take everything personally people say on the internet
because when they meet you,
they'll usually like you and be nice.
And then they'll be, you know,
but then when you see them and you don't know them,
It's not like they're a human being.
So I'm sure JJ Redick, Drew, is a fine fella, but it's hard for me to get over the
snotty player at Duke, you know?
I completely get it.
It's especially bad with, like, players that hurt your team.
Yes.
I'm in the Bahamas, Deshaun Butler that played for West Virginia.
Yes.
He was going around and he was being so nice to Kentucky fans.
We're like, stop it.
We do not want to like you.
He was apologizing, like, where were you when we beat Wall and Cousins?
And then our friends would be like, I was in New Orleans.
He's like, I'm sorry.
I hope it didn't ruin your trip.
It's like just stop talking to us and leave us low.
We want to keep hating you.
And then remember Leightner?
I mean, when he went around and allowed Kentucky fans to step on him.
Yeah.
Yeah, he came on this show and was, I still hate Leitner though.
I'm not right.
Listen, that one's not going away.
He can be as nice as he won.
I'm still going to hate Leitner.
Ryan, the thing you said, so we're not in the same place so we can't communicate
in the breaks.
The thing you sent me, do we say it or no?
Yeah.
I mean, that's a very, very reliable source.
No, I know.
But do you, but like, do we say it?
Because, I mean, the person is still involved in things.
That's true.
Won't you figure out if we could say it or not?
Okay.
Does it be nice to be the one that gets this out first?
But I don't want to, I don't want to cause a problem.
So will you, will you check and see if that's, uh, yeah, we'll check on that.
Yes, sir.
All right, you check.
Who's up first?
Got Carson up.
Carson.
Go ahead, Carson.
Hey, am I on here?
No, you're not.
Oh, sorry.
I know my thing would go through.
But I just wanted to talk about the bed percentages on Kentucky are way too high for Vegas not to bring this against us.
Okay, well, now, let me be clear.
I think you're talking about Draft Kings, right?
Draft Kings and Fanduel.
Like, I see all of them post them.
BBS Sports take the odds from all of them.
Well, here's what happens on draft Kings.
On Draft Kings, in part because so many.
Kentucky people are on draft kings through KSR.
The odds on draft kings for Kentucky, Drew, are a lot like lower than they are on others
because so many of our people bet Kentucky.
Like, I mean, I'm not going to tell you to bet the other ones, but it is amazing,
Drew, you see the amount of Kentucky fans doing it by the fact that our odds.
I mean, draft king's released that they have 14% of all bets to go to the final four,
are for Kentucky.
The next highest team, Drew, is seven.
That is an insane number.
Yeah, and these companies, when they've taken in so much,
they have to make sure they're on the other side too,
so it fluctuates in their own building,
how much action they've gotten.
And Draftings has certainly taken a lot of Kentucky.
Yes, they have.
You don't believe to the caller.
You don't believe what you say, right?
Like, you don't genuinely believe
that there will be somebody to try to make Kentucky lose for that reason.
No, I don't.
but I think we could balance it out and we need to just slam all these unders to take
Oakland and line do whatever we can.
Why would we want to do that if you don't, well, now why would we want to do that if you
don't believe that it would lead that there's anything to the result being changed?
I, well, I actually maybe do believe, though, because, I mean, we saw what dirt bad.
You know, you genuinely believe that when we play Oakland,
I just want to know where you're mind.
You genuinely believe that the officials or the NCAA will try to make Kentucky lose.
No, no, that's not what I was saying at all.
I'm just, this was just an example because we play Oakland next.
That was kind of a joke, but I was saying this last game that's like San Am.
I mean, Orlando's pool blew its whistle 22 times.
That's not true.
That's, by the way, that stat is not true.
I just want, I'm not trying to pick on you.
I'm not.
I'm not trying to.
I know.
That's not, the stat is not true on any level.
He blew the whistle against Texas A&M a number of times.
You saw that stat online, and I'm not trying to pick on you.
You're not the only person.
Yeah, that's true.
You saw that stat on.
Wait a minute, hang on.
You saw that stat online, and you believed it and looked for no verification.
Am I correct?
Well, besides being there and like, yeah, he did blow it for us.
the 22 times yourself?
No, I did not.
That's what I'm saying.
We have to get better at not just seeing a meme or seeing someone tweet something and then just assuming it's true.
Well, the thing about that is, yeah, I was wrong on that.
But it did feel like we were kind of just like any kind of momentum we had would be taken with a very questionable call.
You know what?
I think where the momentum was taking.
when we couldn't stop them any time down the court.
That to me is a much bigger issue than an official.
And I appreciate the call.
But, Ryan, I'm not taking up for officials or Orlando Pool or anyone.
But I am saying, like, we are excusing being down 16 points in the second half to Texas A&M by going,
well, the whistles blew too much.
Like, no, we were down 16, right.
Yeah, we gave up 97 points.
We could not stop them on the perimeter,
could not stop their drives to the basket.
Kentucky scored 87 and still got beat by 10.
I mean, I don't know what more.
I don't think the officials could affect that when they couldn't.
Kentucky could not stop them.
And Drew, was there ever a moment that you thought we were winning that game?
I told you the exact moment.
I knew we weren't.
Wade Taylor hit a three.
He looked at the crowd and he told everyone to shut up and everyone shut up.
And I went, that was bad because there's not an A&M fan in this building.
It is all blue.
and that guy has us in the palm of his hand.
At some point, we should, and look, we got another tournament coming,
but we should accept responsibility that we had 17,000 of 18,000 people there,
yelling at the loudest they could yell.
And we were playing a team that's going to be an eight seed in the NCAA tournament,
and we were down 16 in the second half.
Yep.
That is not on an official.
If there was one call at the end of the game where it went this way,
then it's a different view, okay, but we were down 16 with eight minutes to go.
That's not on any individual official, at least in my mind.
You know, Master Sensation, Clark's Pumping Shop has a new location on Lucille Drive.
You can guarantee it, right, Ryan?
I want to hear more about this new location on Lucille Drive, Matt.

KSR.
Welcome back, Tegi Sports Radio, here live.
It is the Monday Marathon on Tuesday.
I'm in Seaport.
Ryan, Shannon, and Drew are at Martin's Barbecue Joint in Louisville.
Shannon, are you going to, you want to give away the MMA tickets now?
Do you have a winner?
Let me get the bowl to pull out the entries, and we'll do that in just a minute.
She's running to get it.
So give me.
All right.
So why don't you do that?
Yeah, we'll be there in a minute.
One person writes, Matt, I thought the crowd sounded really loud in the first half,
but Wern is into it in the second half.
Why do you think that was?
Well, Ryan, I would say because we were down.
16, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's obvious that Texas A&M took that crowd out of the game because they were dominating
the game.
They led by six or eight or ten almost a whole second half, it seemed like.
Yeah.
I mean, I don't really know what you can kind of expect the crowd to do when,
Drew, when you're losing, you know, I mean, are they supposed to cheer when A&M scores?
I don't, I thought the crowd in Nashville, for the people that were there,
that was one of the better UK environmental.
and crowds I can remember at the SEC tournament.
And even going back to Rupp this year, I don't think you can put any of the
struggles in front of home crowds on our actual crowds.
No, that's why I was so disappointing to, you know, have another early exit.
You were, we were all down there on Wednesday.
We met a thousand people down there with cool stories and how excited they were.
It was a very energetic and a positive fan base.
You know, sometimes the internet, you get all that negativity.
Everybody was just down there to win a championship.
and that's why I was so good in the first half.
And then when the score was what it was in the second,
they were running out of steam.
That's actually a good point about how positive the crowd was because they really were.
Shannon, did you see the picture I tweeted out of Shaquille O'Neal's shoe yesterday?
No, but I've got to look it up.
This guy's like what, a size 20 shoe?
So when I was, after I was done with the show yesterday,
I was at ESPN for a few hours walking around and meeting people.
And I went in a guy's office and he had a signed shoe that,
Shaquille O'Neal wore in his rookie season.
And I want you to look at the picture.
Look at, I put my foot up there next to his foot.
Now, I wear a size 12.
Okay, so I have big feet, not crazy big feet, but pretty big feet.
But next to Shaq's shoe, look at that different, Shannon.
Is that not insane?
That is at least twice the size of your shoe.
I mean, that is absolutely unbelievable.
Look at that thing.
Ryan. I mean, look at it. Like, that is insane. He wore size 24.
It looks like my little baby feet up against your size 12. I mean, it's ginormous. So what size is it?
It's 24. It's a size 24.
Ryan does have baby feet, by the way, too.
You do have, we don't be any baby feet. Are you an eight? Could you get three of yours in check?
You wear a women's size? Yes. You're at eight. I could probably squeeze three of my feet into a 24.
You wear eight? I could probably squeeze into an eight. I have like eight.
half and nines is what I wear nine's oh yeah not with those little bit little bitty baby
feet with the wool socks yeah you got a little bit baby feet yes all right who's our winner shed
okay so it's helen how would you say that last name there dude canick helen canick is the winner
i say it right sixty dollar bear nose gift card i thought it was even made tickets well we got that
too you got all kinds of giveaways i don't have the tickets in hand right now so you get a 60
gift card or if you want to go watch the MMA, we'll give you a pizza and a fight.
I feel like Helen would prefer the beer nose than the MMA.
I don't know for sure.
She's shaking her head, yes.
She agrees with you.
Okay, so Helen will get the beer nose.
She doesn't have to go watch MMA.
Who's up next, Rick?
Bill is up next.
Bill, go ahead, Bill.
Yeah, listen, bowling is dangerous.
I post a baseball team.
I had a pitcher that had tremendous control.
He came out on an outing.
and all of a sudden he can't throw it over the plate.
I talked to his dad after the game, and the dad says,
I made a mistake, I let him go bowling yesterday.
Now, if you think about a 16-pound thing,
clinging off your arm that you're not used to.
So wait a minute, you think them bowling
is going to make them shoot the basketball poorly
because they're used to a too heavy of a ball?
Yes, that's what happened to that pitcher is baseball.
Oh, man, here we go.
So it's something to think about.
I'd be going to the minister's golf course.
Wow.
Okay.
All right, I appreciate the call.
What do you guys think?
You think the bowling ball is going to throw off their shooting ability?
I think we're overthinking this entirely too much.
That's what we do as a fan base, but I don't think that that's going to throw off their shot because they went bowling for an hour.
What do you think, Ryan?
They're going to pick up the basketball and be like, this is too light and they'll shoot it to the left.
Now, if they went bowling like an hour before the game, maybe there might be sucked to it.
But a day or two before, no, it's not going to bother you when it comes game day.
I'm team bowling. Let the guys
bowl keep their mind off everything else
while we're all sweating the basketball. I'm just
going to tell you if Antonio Reeves misses his first
three shots against Oakland.
Bowling. Bowling. I think it's going to be
the bowling that did it. That ball's too
heavy. Who's next? That Joseph
up next. Joseph, go ahead.
Bowling. Hey, Matt,
I got a positive and a negative.
Positive is we have Reaves,
Reed, and Rob. Negative
is we have a coach
that who doesn't care. I watched a video,
of a man tell us if we want to win and have expectations, we're not fans.
How about he keep his fat mouse shut and win or get out?
Go catch.
Wow.
Wow.
All right.
Let's try another call before break.
I don't want to end the hour on that one.
Who's next?
Okay, Drake is next.
Drake, I got a minute.
Go ahead.
Hey, Matt.
Yeah, I was just wanting to see y'all's input on how Trey Mitchell has rebounded from his injury.
He seems like he's kind of been out of.
It seems like he's.
Yeah, he hasn't been as good.
And I still think, Drew, we're going to need him.
I do.
I think there's going to, I think I'll go look at that Houston game coming up if we were to play
them.
And that's a game where I think you need a guy like him and we need him to get on track.
If Oakland plays zone, Tray Mitchell is a zone killer and it would be nice to see him be able
to hit some shots.
Now, hopefully Oakland is a smooth game.
But if they are giving you problems with that zone, Trey Mitchell,
can be a zone killer in the middle, especially early in the year when he had a little mid-range game,
and that shot was falling.
Hopefully it was just the shoulder injury.
I know his first game back, he was wearing a big thing.
It wasn't a shooting arm, but still maybe that shot will come around.
Because the effort, energy, you're still there.
It's just not leading to great production.
He has not been good.
I mean, he's not.
And we need him to be good.
I don't blame him.
I mean, he was hurt, and he had a bad shoulder injury.
But there's going to be a game.
And I think it's going to be that Houston game if we were to get to the elite eight,
where we need that kid.
And I hope he has a good game before then so that he becomes a valuable weapon when we get to a game where I think he's going to be a necessary weapon for us to win.
We'll take a break and come back.
