I have to tell you, I'm not sure that I've driven through worse rain.
I literally got out of my house.
It was sprinkling.
And by the time I pulled out of my driveway, there were trees flying across the road.
That was about 20 minutes of some of the hardest rain and wind I've seen.
Now, it's calmed down now.
It's supposed to be kind of on and off today.
I don't know.
Was that supposed to be the worst of it right there?
I think there was more to come.
I don't know if it was the worst, but I know we're going to have a full day of something.
Hopefully it's not bad.
That was wild, wasn't it?
Yeah, I don't even have that long of a drive here, and I saw several trees down.
I got out and kind of brought stuff inside so my things don't blow away,
and then I just looked on my little camera in its trash day, and I almost put that away,
but it blew over, and I just have trash all in my yard, getting wet.
I get to go pick that up after the show.
Yeah, I literally had that happen last week, and then you just look at it,
You sort of have a, you have a decision to make.
Do I just leave a trash yard?
Or do you get out there and pick it up?
And it's, it's, and you have to pick it up because you're, you're a good neighbor.
But I can see why people just, you know, sometimes you'll drive by a house and you'll see they've just given it up to nature.
Yeah, they surrendered.
I can see how it would happen.
Because I just had like a few bad, a few things of trash.
And I was like, I'm ready to move.
Well, on Sunday, we hosted.
Easter, we had nine people over.
So our recycling, whereas the loose was just full.
So to my neighbors, if you're listening, I'll get it eventually.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, hopefully everybody's okay.
There are storm warnings all over.
It's moved now towards Eastern Kentucky, but this is going all day.
So be careful.
We are open here at KS Bar.
We'd love to have you, but be careful coming down here if you do head this way.
But we'd love to see you.
It's just me and Drew for the next week, although tomorrow we're going to have Billy in.
We're going to make a fade this.
Billy's very excited.
I think we're going to do the show maybe at my house.
Okay.
So I got to figure out how do I let Billy in?
Normally I get up at nine, but Billy's got to be on at nine.
So how do I let Billy into my house without having to get up?
And I'm still trying to figure it out.
Sleepover.
I think it's a great time for you all have a sleepover?
Okay.
Well, I've got a couch.
That way you don't have to get up at all.
He can get up at seven, whatever he does.
That's a really good idea.
Billy, you're going to have sleep on the couch tonight.
I'm sorry.
That's just the way it's going to go.
We're going to do something I bet we've never done on this show,
which is lead with women's basketball that is not Kentucky.
You think we've ever done that before?
I mean, I think we've probably led with women's basketball before when it was Kentucky.
You think we've ever led with it when it wasn't Kentucky?
Can't think of any storylines outside of the bluegrass that we think we have.
I don't think we have.
So last night, I mean, the big sporting event was Caitlin Clark and Iowa.
versus LSU. It felt like
everybody was watching it. It was a lot
of fun. It was exciting.
Caitlin Clark's really good.
I mean, I know that's
the groundbreaking analysis
that you turn into this, tune into this show
for, but she was awesome.
And it felt like an event.
You know, it felt like a, hey, everybody's
watching this. What's going to happen?
You know, people
dislike LSU a lot more
than I understand. I mean, I
understand, like I don't like their coach
but even she was kind of muted last night
like she was like just wearing normal green
yeah I was most surprised her outfit was
why did people get so angry at them
like we like I don't get it
like I think you can think
Caitlin Clark's amazing but people just
you know they just get so angry
and so there was this huge segment of society
acting like that you know
it was like we'd beaten the Russians
when we won it wasn't that odd
you're right it did feel I didn't feel that way
but it did seem like a lot of
were against LSU.
I was pretty indifferent, but I was excited for that game.
I bet on LSU on Draft King, so I wasn't indifferent.
I pulled up Draft Kings, and I was going to be a hater.
Caitlin Clark, her point total was 33, and I'm like, I'm betting under.
I'm going to be the Caitlin Clark hater.
Ended up backing out because I thought that's a terrible idea, and she goes for 41 or whatever.
But the game lived up to the hype.
I know at the end, Iowa kind of had it locked up, but that was very entertaining game.
I missed a layer of the beginning, but after I got in about the second quarter, I didn't miss any.
That first half was the most entertaining women's game I've seen, I don't want to say ever, but maybe.
I mean, the second half, it looked like both teams got kind of tired and it was a little.
And that third quarter is when Caitlin Clark was really.
Yeah.
But that first half, 45, 45, and they just kept making shots.
And, you know, I love watching Caitlin Clark shoot.
Every time she shoots, you think it's going in.
Right.
Like every time.
And then Angel Reese, what is the one leg thing?
On the tights.
Let me ask you a question.
How do you even wear that?
Like, how do you?
Like, how is it, I don't know if you cut off one side?
I don't know.
Is it like full, is it like a full leg stock, you know, tights?
And she just cuts one leg off.
I feel like we might have had a UK basketball player do that, too.
I don't know if they just cut on their own.
What's the point?
Is it fashion or does it do something?
But why would you want one leg?
But why would you only want one leg compressed?
I don't know.
Accessories.
Rick, why would you only want one leg compressed?
Do you know?
That's a stumper for me, Matt.
There you go.
Rick doesn't know either.
I don't know why she does that.
It's like flare.
I played in a senior faculty game in high school, and I had on like 13 pieces of flare.
I did not need that many compression sleeves or sweat bands.
And looking back, I looked like a complete idiot.
But in the moment, I thought I was something.
That's very similar to what was happening last night.
Well, I'm saying she was adding her flare.
It was a look.
Maybe she needed.
But I'm saying the Madisonville seniors versus faculty.
I lit it up.
Four three to start the game.
Now, let me tell you what I liked about it.
Well, okay, one more thing about the people's reaction.
Haley Van Liff.
Okay, that girl, that's the girl on LSU.
She was on Louisville last year, right?
Now, granted, she got lit up by Caitlin Clark.
Was that fair to say?
Yes.
And she even at one point did the Michael Jordan shrug in reverse.
Like, what do you want me to do?
I'm doing everything.
What do you want me to do?
This is like the best player of all time.
Will you leave me alone?
What do you want me to do?
But people were just...
Louisville fans were so mean to her during the game.
Like grown men just going at her, mocking her.
What am I missing?
Why are they...
Why do they hate...
I know she left that school.
But why do they hate her so much?
That was really my biggest takeaway of the game outside of Katelyn Clark
and then, you know, Iowa winning.
on the internet, people were ruthless to Haley
family. I mean, she didn't play well. Kael and Clark had her
spinning in circles and wondering where she was, but the internet
I felt like was extra cool. But did she do something wrong?
Like, she just,
just mocking a young woman like that.
I saw some little people like, ha, ha, should have gone somewhere else.
No, but I saw like people who have daughters her age,
like writing, and you want to go, what?
Yeah, I thought it was a little over the top on the reaction.
to her.
I didn't get it.
I mean, I know she left Louisville, but, like, they do realize that she's not going to be the first person to leave Louisville, right?
And not the first person, Caitlin Clark has scored 40 points against.
Yeah.
I didn't, I didn't get it.
That was weird.
So, but Caitlin Clark, is she the best, like, woman's player you think you've ever seen?
She's certainly the most entertaining.
That Brianna Stewart we saw at UCon.
Didn't she win, like, four titles and for now she's in the Yukon system?
She's up there with the accolades, but there's not been one more entertaining.
Like when Kaelin Clark's on TV, I feel like I'm missing out if I'm not watching.
It's like.
It's like, it's a fun.
Like there's just something about seeing people just pull up from wherever and shoot.
And you know it's, I mean, I-
You shouldn't be able to do that.
And really, you shouldn't shoot those shots.
Anyone else would get yelled at.
Did you see that she shoots like over 25 feet a lot?
Like a crazy number and then they just do it.
And what's interesting about that Iowa team is I can't tell you another.
person on the team. Do you know another person's name?
There's one girl there whose face I recognize, but I couldn't tell you her name.
The coach, I think that's the first time the coach has ever been at the game.
I've seen Taylor's dad more than I've seen the coach.
I honestly thought their coach was the woman that used to fix my grandmother's hair at J.C.
Penny.
Because I'd never seen her before, and I was like, who is that?
Like, I know.
I know.
J.C. Penny did hair.
Oh, my granddad.
grandma would go to JC Penny. They put those big things on their head. Lots of spray, too.
Yeah, and you'd go in there and there were just, oh, so much spray. And what are those things
they would just set on their head to drive? Do people still do that where they just set that big
plastic thing on their head? The big space helmet? Yeah, is that still a thing? When I was waiting
to get mine, I would like to put it down and pretend I was an astronaut, but I don't know if people
still use them. I would ask the women out there. So yeah, I will. Do you still go and put
that, or was that ended with my grandma's
area? I hope the technology's gotten a little better.
Anyway, that woman looked like
the women with my grandma
at J.C. Pinnies. I know
what Kim Mulkey looks like. I know what Don
Staley looks like. I know Gino,
right? I'd never
seen that person in my life. So
I think it's interesting. I was this
huge thing, but we don't know anyone
else there. And Jason
Sadecas was there.
Okay, first of all, Jason Sadecas
was wearing Iowa gear.
He was doing the You Can't See Me, which again, Jason, you're a grown man.
I don't think you should look at college women and go, you can't see me.
But he's a Kansas fan.
We've seen him at the Final Four.
Do you get to do that?
He's a huge Kansas fan.
He's a huge Kansas fan.
Do you get to go sit behind the bench and go, you can't see me when you are a Kansas fan?
I can understand you want to be there for something like that, which is fine.
But he was acting like he's been an Iowa fan since birth.
And I don't think Kansas and Iowa are big rivals, but that seems feels like I don't know.
Don't they border each other?
Yeah.
I don't know.
You say that.
Do you know?
Yeah, we've driven Iowa to Kansas, right?
Well, I mean, they're all in the middle of America, but do they touch each other?
Missouri, and then you go over to Kansas?
Is Kansas above Missouri or below Missouri or Iowa?
Those states, to me, don't, I don't know which is which is.
If anyone should be experts, it's on.
Do they border each other?
Point being.
Nope.
I thought the corners touched.
They don't.
Yeah, Nebraska slides in just a little.
I just don't think he should get to do that.
Now, one thing I did like, though,
let me tell you the part I like the best of it.
When the game is over, you know, this LSU team's taking a lot of criticism.
This is Flage Johnson, which, what a great name, Flage.
Flage is like, I think if I have a kid, just so you know, if it's a daughter,
Flagee.
Flage Jones.
Flagee Jones.
Flagee is speaking about Angel Reese.
And here's what I like about this.
I'm going to play this clip because everyone that plays on a team
should hope they have a teammate that will take up with their teammate like Flage does.
You have to picture this.
She's talking on the thing, and Angel Reese is sitting next to her crying.
Okay?
Here's what Flage said.
Everybody can have their pen on Angel Reese, but y'all don't know her.
Like, y'all don't know Angel Reese.
I know Angel Reese.
I know the real Angel Reese.
And the person I see every day is a strong person.
It's a caring, loving person.
The crown she wears is heavy, bro.
She's the type of teammate that's going to make you believe in yourself.
The lead that I took from my freshman in the sophomore year,
Angel gave me that confidence to go be a dog,
playing next to a dog every day.
And, you know, just to see how the media ridicule her,
went through our problems.
but like this is my sister right here.
And I'm so proud of her.
Like the media, y'all, how they like to twist
and call it a villain and all of that,
y'all don't know, Angel, bro.
And I'm just happy that I get to play with her.
I get to be around her presence.
Her energy is different.
Like, she just made me a better player.
She made me a better player.
And that's what great players do.
Bro, let me tell you something.
So I think everybody that has a teammate
should want to have one who would take up for them like that.
Yeah, even for her,
I'm sure she's hurting too.
Her season just ended, so for her to use that moment.
She's younger?
Yeah.
And if I'm not mistaken watching the game, when Angel Reese fell out at the end,
Johnson kind of became LSU's last hope.
It was pretty much over, but she had some threes and was doing all she could for Angel
once she went.
So I would do that for you, by the way.
Thank you.
I would say, you all don't know Drew Franklin.
You don't, they don't know the crown that I carry.
The crown is yours.
The crown is yours.
859-280-2287.
You can give us a shout.
We're going to talk a little bit about Kentucky and the portal.
What the Final Four means for the cats.
Nick Mingeyone will be on the show at 11 o'clock.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
It's Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at KS.
Barr.
Did you know Kim Mulkey dated Trace Atkins?
I did.
I think that's a really funny relationship.
Sometimes when they show are on the sideline, I see Trace next to her.
Who do you think was like in charge of that relationship?
Kim's in charge of everything.
But Trace a big man.
I mean, Trace like 6' 6.
Every light in the house is gone.
Like you think that was like...
When Kim told him to do something, he shut up and did it.
He went and fixed the light.
Yeah.
When Kim said, that's what just happened.
Yeah, she wears her sequin robe around the house.
I don't think you...
I think as a man, you just have to do what Kim says.
Absolutely.
The Washington Post article came out.
What a shock.
It said, Kim is mean.
I think I could have predicted that.
She got all mad.
You knew that's what it was going to be.
just mean. Was that the title? Kim is mean? Kim is mean. And it was, and there was a lot of
examples of her being mean. I've never, I've never met her. She could walk in right now and
tell me to do something I'd do it. I think I would do. But no crap. Yeah, absolutely. That's exactly
right. 859-28027. Big shout out. The Bluebird Bake Shop in Evansville, Indiana. The woman
that runs it. What's your name? Darcy made us each cookies. And this may be the most
impressive cookie I've ever seen. I posted it on Twitter and Instagram. She did one of Drew. She
did one of Shannon. She did one of Ryan.
Sorry, Billy. And the rest of us all, God, I'm kidding, Darcy, I'm kidding.
That is amazing. I mean, that's not only me. That's my book. That's you. That's the KSR.
It's a Taco John's logo. Yeah, I got a Taco John sign with me.
You got Shannon and Ryan has a Kentucky Wesleyan logo.
Shannon has an STD logo, the gas, not the disease.
and this is amazing.
Thank you very much.
Now, do you eat this?
I'm conflicted.
We've been given some nice cookies before they have the KSR logo,
and even though they look amazing, I quickly eat them.
I don't think I could eat this.
This is art.
Can I bite into my face?
Why don't we just eat Ryan's?
He's gone, and then we'll save ours.
Well, we always said if we were stuck on an island,
we had to eat each other, we would eat Ryan because he would be the heartiest meal,
and he's the oldest.
We'll just eat his cookie first.
We finally have that moment.
We do.
859-280-2287.
Let's talk about Kentucky for a second.
We've been talking about what the final form meant in terms of portal and all that.
Now they open up the portal.
We're going after a kid from Milwaukee.
I just saw we've talked to a kid from Oklahoma State.
How do we process all this stuff?
Like, how do we decide who we need?
Like it used to be you'd look and you'd go, okay, well, you need Hunter Dickinson
because he's the best player we've heard of it.
But then that didn't really work out for Kansas.
And then you have a dude from Northern Colorado that's the SEC player of the
We have to do from Illinois State be all-American.
Mark Sears went to what, Georgia, is that right?
Ohio.
Ohio.
I always keep saying that.
DJ Burns went to Winthrop.
Like, how do we know right now who needs to be on our team?
Like, I'm not being serious.
When I hear that a kid is associated with Kentucky, how am I supposed to know whether or not he should be here?
I really don't know.
We as fans, even media, I don't even know how we're supposed to know.
I really don't even know how the coaches are supposed to.
with all things there to do these days.
That's why I agree with Kyle Tucker's been saying this,
but this is when you need a general manager who knows the portal.
I mean, I've been very critical of our coaching staff,
but at some point they can't be expected to know every player in the country
has the portal opens.
But like, let's say you get the kid from Milwaukee.
Okay, so we're going after a kid from Milwaukee.
I see they get a kid from Milwaukee.
Am I supposed to be excited about that?
Because, like, in years past you, it had gone, well, he was at Milwaukee,
can he do it?
But all over the country, we're seeing guys who were at schools
like Milwaukee and they did well.
So how do you know?
I mean, Alabama's a perfect example.
Alabama goes and gets Grant Nelson from North Dakota State
and everybody thought that he was the number one guy on the portal.
And he's been good, but he hasn't been great.
And then they got this kid from Ohio and that kid's the best player on the team.
I just think we're not really going to have any idea which of these guys is good and which
isn't.
You know what I mean?
That's why you've got to trust your coaching staff and they have to be good at this.
I mean, it's brand new, and we're going to, we've already seen.
Some teams have already figured it out.
Others are still trying to figure it out.
One thing, a lot of the guys that have shined were like the player of the year in their conference.
Like Florida went and got that Walter Clayton Jr. that's so good.
I think he was like the Miac player of the year or something.
So those, I think, catch your eye.
But it's just a random guy on a roster.
It's hard to know where, am I looking at a guy that we're expecting to start?
Is he a backup?
It's hard to figure out how the roster will be.
So like now, what do we also think about the guys on our team?
Okay, I mean, do you, all right, let's assume we know we have six freshmen coming in.
That's the number, right?
Maybe even they're looking at a seventh.
They're looking at a seventh, which I, all right.
I mean, listen, like this is going to be your year, Cal, do it the way you want.
I do believe that.
But how many guys that are currently on the team do we want back?
I'm being dead serious.
How many do you want back?
Let's assume that Rob Dillingham is gone.
Let's assume Reed Shepherd is gone
Just because I can't imagine it would make sense for him to return
Maybe he will, but let's just for purpose of this argument assume he's gone
Trey and Antonio are gone
Of the rest of the guys, how many would you like to have back?
If I'm Drew Franklin and I'm the GM and I say
You choose who's coming back
Who are you choosing?
Well, I have my wish list.
Junior Adieu Theoro is very high on it.
He reads number one.
Now we're up to seven.
Reads number one, but that seems unlikely.
reads out. I would like
a sophomore DJ Wagner, but I don't think it'll happen.
All right. And then who else?
Z?
I mean, I wouldn't turn anyone down saying my wish list.
Z, George Berks.
Now you've got 10 guys.
Well, I don't want seven freshmen.
Well, but you already got those.
Like, Cal's not going to tell those dues to leave.
And that's why I'm sitting here every day on the show wondering what we're doing,
because the math just ain't math into me.
I also wonder if you are going to the portal.
So there's this cliff, the cliff, um, Mori from a
Rutgers, I want that guy really bad.
He's a center.
He's a true center.
He's defense.
Rutgers was like the number three defense in Ken Palm this year with him in the middle.
I want that guy.
But if you're him and Cal calls you, he's going to go, right now I see Sompto.
Yeah.
I see Jaden Quatins.
I see Hugo.
I see Big Z and I see Bradshaw.
But I'm making an even more basic point.
I'm not even sure.
I don't know how Cal builds this roster to what to put up a great team.
I think we're dependent on freshmen again.
Like, we have six freshmen.
He is not going to tell those people to leave.
Four of them are McDonald's All-Americans.
He is not going to tell them not to come, right?
Like, that's just not going to happen.
You would agree.
Agreed.
Okay.
So we've got these dudes on the team.
Let's just assume three of them come back.
Now we're up to nine.
How many transfer people could you even get?
two? Is that going to be enough?
These are all fair questions and questions I have myself.
I think in the future, if I'm building a program, I'm not getting more than like three freshmen
because I want to have the flexibility to go get as many guys as I can.
But for next year, it is hard for me to fathom exactly what he's going to do.
What if a do
What if a do, Z,
Wagner, and Berks all say they want to come back?
I don't think you can look at any of them and tell them no.
And now you got 10 guys.
How are you going to go sign somebody in the portal
when you already got 10 dudes?
All of whom are super talented.
All of them, including freshmen,
expecting some things too.
All of which would expect to play.
I mean, if a do, Wagner, Z, and Burks come,
They ain't coming to sit on the bench.
So I just think from a roster standpoint,
it's hard for me to figure out how they're going to do this,
you know, because they have six freshmen.
I thought this season was the freshman year, to be honest.
But we've done it again.
We're going to be run by freshmen again next year.
We just are.
I don't see any way around it.
859-280-2287.
We'll take your calls right after this.
KSR.
Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio.
859-280-2-807.
They apparently still do have those big plastic hairdriers.
Oh, good.
We can't leave those behind.
Those are beautiful.
And, you know, that was for my grandma.
She would say she was going to fix her hair.
Yeah.
Maybe we could just go do a show to JCPenny.
We'll sit in.
Do people still say that?
I'm going to, my grandma would always go, I'm going to have my hair fixed.
I don't know.
I assume so.
I haven't had that conversation.
What are you laughing at?
ma'am that's what they would say like i would say if i'm going i would say i'm going to get my hair
cut for my grandmother would always be i'm going to get my hair fixed and it would be a whole
process and it would be it would be like 30 minutes or no more than 30 minutes because i would walk
around the mall being like are we done yet it was like a whole it was a whole thing that's why i think
we need to go through this process we'll put the equipment between us and we'll sit in the jc penny chairs
for 10 to 2 uh one person writes matt i think haley van lith got all the trash talk because of how she
handled the Louisville situation leaving.
Well, people leave, though.
How did she handle it?
Maybe, I mean, maybe there's something I don't know.
I just think, in general, when I see old men yelling at young women,
I don't think it's a good look, like being angry.
You know, like, I just think that's not a good look.
And there was a lot of that coming from down the road yesterday.
Yeah, it was very, very weird behavior.
It was to me, at least.
I don't get.
There's one thing to be like, wow, she can't guard Caitlin Clark.
Well, it's because she could.
Or going to LSU, maybe not the right decision, but some of it was over the top.
It seemed to me.
859-28027.
One more thing about down the road, Kenny Payne, the terms of his buyout included $7 million more
dollars.
So let me give you, so he's being paid $7 million over the next two years.
I'm going to give you a stat that's unbelievable.
Kenny Payne will have made $14 million from Louisville.
to win 12 games.
He will have been paid.
I mean, that sounds like made up.
But he will have been paid like $1.16 million per win.
Gosh, that's so beautiful.
Good for Kenny.
Good for Kenny.
He's going to have the nicest golf clubs.
He probably does.
He's going to have.
He's going to be at all the country.
I don't know where he's going to move, where he's going to live next,
but he's going to be in all the country clubs.
A million dollars.
a win. A million dollars a win.
Not even the wins. When he stands or sits in those press conferences says things like,
oh, the other coach tricked me. He was getting a million for that.
He got a million to be tricked.
I cannot believe that that has to be the biggest highway robbery by a coach of all time.
Who has stolen money more than $1.1 million a win?
Certainly not from a blue blood like that.
I don't think that's ever happened.
Now, I don't know what's in the contract.
Can he come here and they're still paying him?
Maybe we give him a volunteer job?
I'm not sure.
Can he just sit here?
I have no idea what.
I don't know what the specifics are, but that is an unbelievable amount of money.
And now the sun's out.
Literally the hardest reign of my life just occurred and now the sun's out.
Who's up next?
Got Clint up first.
Go ahead, Clint.
Hey, guys, first time, a long time.
Who up?
So to revisit a topic from yesterday's show where you
talked about inviting the Louisville coach on, and I don't know if there's a scenario, or many
scenarios where that's a good idea, but I do think there's one scenario where it's a great
idea. And that would be if you had him on with Ambien Matt, and you got to challenge him to a
foot race. I think he might beat me. No, no. You got two struts to one there. That is true.
You know, I've continued, and I appreciate the call to be a little surprised. First of all, it was still
about 60, 40, yes, to have him on. But there's still a lot of people that are like, no way,
you should never have him on. And I guess, I'm not sure that I will ask him, just because I don't
know if I want to deal with the pushback, but I'm not sure why that's so negative. Like, we used,
like, my listeners back in the day, if I had said I could get Rick Petino on during the
scandal, you don't think people would have wanted that? People would have been like, go get him.
ask him. Are we now scared to have the other coach on because we think we might like him?
I think it's scared. It's like we're gifting him a platform where you go get your own.
He's a coach at a local radio. I'm just saying what they're probably saying.
But I mean, we didn't say that about Rick. We're gifting a platform. We were like, yes, let's have him on.
Let's ask him these questions. Why are we all of a sudden worried about having him on a show?
I think people are worried they're going to like him.
That could be it.
I voted yes.
I'm just trying to think what the nose would be.
Well, the nose are what you said.
Don't give him the platform.
But you're acting like it's not 2024 where like you have to go on local news to be heard.
He can do.
I mean, listen, you got to give him some credit.
In 24 hours, they raised $220,000 in an aisle money.
In 24 hours.
Now, people can say, Matt,
well, you're being negative, blah, blah, blah.
I'm trying to do what I asked John Caliperi to look at what other people are doing and then try to change.
We need to do the same thing.
They were able to raise in 24 hours more than we've raised so far since they started that law familiar thing.
A lot more, unfortunately.
A lot more.
Well, why is that?
Well, I think it's in part because of how he's done outreach and media.
And by the way, I officially asked Calo Perry yesterday to be on the show.
I sent him a message to his person.
That person was very nice, got back to me and said, I will check about it, and we'll let you know by the end of the week.
So, but I did officially ask, and, you know, that's all I can do at this point.
But look, they still stink down there.
Let's not act otherwise.
Like, they've been awful, okay?
but I do think when it comes to off the court stuff, he's headed in the right direction.
Yeah, I mean, I'm going to make fun of him because it seems he always has a selfie stick
and he's recording and talking to him the whole time.
But to give him some credit and be positive, that's what someone needs to do at Louisville.
They've had enough of a mess there.
They need someone to show that energy and that passion and excitement to be there.
And, I mean, the guy clearly appreciates being there, too.
He was shocked by the office they gave him, kind of like we talked about with Kenny Brooks here at UK.
So I will give him credit on all that.
but I will still as a hater, call it corny what he's doing.
He's corny.
I understand why their fans are liking it.
He's definitely corny.
He's a cornball.
But at the same time, sometimes I guess if you need energy, you need a cornball.
I mean, whenever Cal moves on, if we have a corny guy, I'll probably.
Because Kenny was the worst about it.
Kenny did the media amount that Cal did and lost every game.
Right.
So Kenny, Kenny may have been the worst with media I've ever seen.
So this guy's probably trying to take it as much in the other direction as he came.
And that's what he should do.
That is exactly what he should do.
Who's next?
Gary is up next.
Gary.
Go ahead, Gary.
Yeah, Matt, I read an article earlier in the year.
I was talking about Angel Reese and why she wore the one-leg thing.
And there was something about she's covering up a scar.
It didn't go into detail as far as a surgery accident or anything like that.
that's why I read.
Well, then that there's your answer.
I didn't, I'd never seen that before.
If that's what it is, that makes perfect sense.
But I don't, not to mean to change the subject.
Did you hear about what was going on down in Wayne County?
I did.
So I never heard the end.
So they fired that coach.
I saw that the players came out and wore t-shirts in Wayne County for the coach.
So where are we now on it?
Is the coach still fired?
I haven't heard anything new, but I,
That's the biggest BS thing I've ever seen or hurt in my life.
Just because that superintendent had a grudge against his wife.
Against his wife?
Or on behalf of his wife?
Well, she was on the school board, I guess, years ago,
and she wasn't trying to vote him in the superintendent way back to him.
And because of that, now he's taking it out on his wife.
Gotcha.
I appreciate the call.
I love small town drama.
And this thing in Wayne County,
it's now been going on for 10 days
and people are still upset.
The current team members put T-shirts on
that said, we support coach,
is it Brooks or what it?
I don't know what is it,
whatever his name is.
We support coach so-and-so and posed in it.
Well, how does a new coach come in there
when the team has all, like, again,
I know nothing about it.
I don't know if there's,
I had somebody, you know, most people have been on the coach's side.
I did have somebody right me who kind of wasn't on the coach's side that was like,
well, the coach did this and that.
So like, it's hard for me to know, but I do think it is clear that Monticello,
Wayne County, that there's a lot of passion on that whole thing.
Certainly.
And a lot of support.
I'm with you.
I'm not in it.
I don't know exactly what happened.
But there are a lot of people upset that it did happen.
And, I mean, if you've got the players standing up for the coach on the outside looking in,
you already lean that way a little if the players are behind me.
I mean, if you're a new coach coming in and the players are all wearing t-shirts wanting the guy that was there before you, that's a little bit of, that's difficult, isn't it?
Yeah, and the caller, not to change the subject.
He was right.
I looked it up during the break about Angel Reese.
It's for a scar.
She has a bad fracture.
Then that makes perfect sense as to why she does it.
I wondered, we need to start doing that fashion, though.
You need to do the one leg.
Yeah, I got like an itty-bitty scar.
I could probably cover it with a band-aid.
Perfect.
Are you looking for it to expand your professional network?
Let's say you make cookies.
and you want to meet other people around the state that are cookie entrepreneurs.
The Kentucky Chamber's inaugural Young Professional Summit is Tuesday, April the 23rd in Louisville.
They're bringing Kentucky's best and brightest professionals together,
and they're going to have a whole great meeting.
If you're a young person trying to make it in business in Kentucky,
here's a way to meet people that could stay with you the whole time.
I said that happened with me at a meeting like this about 10 years ago,
and I met some of my very good friends.
can do it to go to k ychamber.com slash events kychamber.com slash events the one i went to
Craig greenberg now the mayor of louisville morgan mcgarvey now congressman dan mosley now the

What? John Sims? He was there. David Yates was there, who's now a state senator.
So like, you meet people. Take a break. Very back. Skysi. Welcome back. Tech Sports Radio, 859-28027.
We're going to have Nick Mingeyone here on in just a minute, but we have some breaking news.
The UK baseball game today against Louisville has been postponed until tomorrow night. They will play tomorrow night against Louisville.
in Lexington here.
So the game has been postponed until tomorrow due to the weather that we will probably have all day.
We got a family here who came up for the game, but they're still going to go and try to do something else.
They came to KS. Bar, which is nice, and hopefully they can still find something to do around the city.
But that means tomorrow night, while I'm doing my trivia, we will have the baseball game on here in the bar.
So you'll have trivia and UK baseball at the same time.
Yeah, I figured this was coming with the forecast the way it is.
I also had a big group that made an eye of it.
I'm glad they're getting it in tomorrow because this could have been one.
They just say, we play them later in the year.
We'll move on without it.
Yeah, I'm glad they're at least going to get in tomorrow.
It's because I know you got it right here in front of us.
A lot of people looking forward to that game.
Yeah.
One person writes, Matt, I want to know, do you think Louisville's coaches' glasses are fake?
First of all, he wears the glasses you do, ma'am.
Those are the exact glasses he has.
I don't think so.
I think he just, you know, he's trying to be fashion.
fashion guy, but he has the
glasses from the kid from
you shoot your eye out. I'm going fake.
You don't wear him during games, so I think they're fake.
Oh, that's interesting. So you think he...
I'll also will admit I'm just being a hater.
There's too much loving this guy. Someone has to be the hater.
Speaking to guys with glasses, Indiana State plays tonight in the
NIT Final Four. It's just up in Indianapolis
at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Are you excited to watch
the Indiana State superstar
or Cream Abdul-Jabbar.
I am. I'll be watching the NIT.
As I said yesterday, once we got the Valls and Duke out of the tournament,
I've been at peace with this March, and I've watched all the games this weekend,
watched games last night, and I'll watch the NIT.
I'm able to watch basketball again, thankfully.
Another person writes, Matt, can you get Trey Mitchell or Antonio Reeves on the show?
Antonio Rees will be on the show next week.
We are going to have a signing with him at KS. Bar,
and I will give you the details probably in the next game.
couple days, but Antonio Reeves will be on the show probably next week, and I look forward to that.
I have not heard about Trey Mitchell, but we'll see what we can do. I would think that he would
probably do it. I just, again, I don't know him, so we'll have to see. Yeah, I hope so, because
these are fun for everyone. If you can get the autographs or just hearing them on this show.
I'm looking forward to Antonio, and I think he'll get a good crowd of autographs. I think people really want
to, they liked him, and we'll enjoy having him, right? Definitely. Maybe once decisions are made,
there will be more, too.
McDonald's All-American game is tonight.
Do you care?
I just said I'm excited to watch basketball.
I'm going to need a minute on the McDonald's game.
I will watch it in its entirety.
I had the intentions of being at a baseball game tonight.
We'll see.
But I'll watch it probably tomorrow morning on replay.
Can you name the four Kentucky players in the McDonald's game?
Yeah, we got Boogie Fland, Jaden Quaintance.
Yep.
Who else is in it?
Carter Knox.
Carter Knox.
who's the fourth?
Billy Richmond.
Billy Richmond.
There you go.
Nice job.
And then we have also SOMTO.
I don't think Billy Richmond's in.
I think it's three.
Billy Richmond didn't make it?
Yeah, it's those three.
All right, well, Billy Richmond.
And then they're looking at the Liam McNeely, who decommitted from, that's the
could be a seventh freshman.
I don't know where they are in that.
It's just one of those that reached out.
The SOMTO guy was not eligible for it.
And then you have Travis Perry as well.
That game tonight is at 9 o'clock.
So you have, you have Cream,
Jabbar playing at seven. The McDonald's All-American game is at nine tonight if you want your
basketball fix. We didn't mention it yesterday, but what about this Reeves Golky showdown we
got coming up as we talk about it? Antonio Reeves going to shoot against Golky in the three-point
contest. We need you to win Antonio. We need you to win. Golky can't get another one. I mean, we
need you to win, although Golki's, it feels like the kind of thing he's good at is just sitting there
firing. But so is Antonio. I mean, Antonio's
kind of made for that too. After Goki's done this media tour where he just keeps dunking on us,
I'm tired of seeing him. He cannot get another win. He's done enough. Yeah. Antonio, you got to save us.
Who's up next? Johnny Versace's up next. Johnny Versace. How are you?
Good, man. You know, I think we need, with all the positions we have available on our
college, our basketball staff, I need a position that's an NIL, like, money ball, transfer
portal specialists that manages how we, you know, how much NIL we have to spend, what's the best
available option, how to fill out the roster.
I mean, we need that.
That's the GM position that Kyle Tucker's been talking about.
And we have not had that, and it's been a huge mistake.
Other schools have it.
Other schools have, I mean, you know, T.J. Bisoner left here to be in charge of NIL for
UNC.
That's what that was basically what he went to do.
and it has, I think, worked out for them.
We have not dedicated that resource yet.
We had, we had, he was doing that a little bit here,
but I don't think he was given the freedom to do some of the things he needed to do.
So I agree with you totally that needs to happen.
Yeah, I just feel like, especially, you know, hearing that maybe some of the players were,
you know, even after they got here, we had some NIL issues.
I just feel like we really need somebody to take control of that.
and then also have an eye on this transfer portal.
I mean, it's got to be difficult.
It's got to be difficult, but you got to do it.
I mean, you're right, Johnny.
I appreciate the call.
I'm a little worried.
I'm going to be honest with you.
We're going to have Mnji On on next,
so I'm going to do this quick right before the break.
I'm a little worried, Drew, I'm hearing they may not do any staff.
Well, it's not any of our legacies on the line.
So if that's what he wants to do,
We'll cheer, but it does not seem like the right move to me.
I mean, I was told, I'm just going to be, this is just what I was,
I was told there were going to be a forcing, for lack of a better word,
of three staff changes.
And then yesterday, to be honest with you, the same person that told me that who would know said,
well, might be zero.
That there might be one person whose title is shifted, but will still be,
around, but that we could end up with the exact same thing.
That's a huge mistake.
I mean, the youngest assistant coach or staff member that's not a grad assistant,
so the youngest paid staff member, this is unfortunate to me.
The youngest one is still older than me.
If I were to join the staff, I'd be the youngest person on the staff.
Ma'am, I'm not that old.
You didn't have to pay, you didn't have to, like.
She basically thought the program's over.
I'm kidding with you.
You're exactly right.
That shouldn't be the case.
But if they end up bringing every staff member back, well, hard for me to get, I'm going to be hard for me to get excited.
If you bring all these dudes back.
I think everybody knows my thoughts on the situation.
I think it would be crazy to bring everyone back.
You cannot do the same formula that has not worked for three years.
How can you do that?
How can you, like, now maybe that won't be the case.
But my view is every day we don't hear staff change means there's not going to be one.
Because they have to be recruiting.
They need to be go recruiting and all that.
So that's my assumption.
Nick Mingeon will join us next.
We are here at KS Bar and Grill.
Come on out and have lunch, Suns out.
It's Kentucky Sports Radio.
