Well, you can, but that's not the same as an interview. Like in an interview, you get a lot more out of people. I mean, press conferences, they, you know, I mean, first of all, Cal has to do the press conferences, which most of the time he does not do. The ones he does after games, I'm doing my postgame show.

So I can't do those. But, you know, to be honest with you, there's not a press conference until October. So to me, there are questions that need to be asked between now and October. But, you know, it's up to him. I would suggest, though. I hope he does. If he doesn't want to do our show, that's fine. I understand that.

He should do some type of media that is not with an official media person. Because the official media people are not going to ask him anything hard. Do an interview with somebody, it'll be good for you to be challenged. When Obama was president, Bill, do you remember that? Were you alive? Barely. Yeah, I do remember. When Obama was president, he would go do interviews on Super Bowl Sunday with Bill O'Reilly.

Now, clearly, Bill O'Reilly was not on his side, but there's a reason to do that, right? You know, you should talk to people who challenge you. That's gone away. Trump doesn't do that. Biden doesn't do that. I don't like that. You should talk to people who challenge you. Well, that takes some self-awareness as well to know that you want to talk to the other side.

I just, you know, I don't see that with what's happening right now. Can I tell you, Drew, something that I think everybody should know. Please, I think it's your duty to tell everyone. Two things. One, watch out for Paul Skeens. Uh-oh. With the Pirates now, right? He's with the Pirates.

Number one pick from LSU. Some of you may know him because he dates the Olivia Dunn. But you should know him as a pitcher. Saturday, I walked to the Louisville Bat Stadium from my house. Watched his AAA debut. He's the best pitcher I've ever seen, not in the Major League. Wow. he was the Louisville bats players looked like children against him and I'm not kidding you he was throwing

I believe 141 miles an hour that's got to be a record and that was his sinker does he still have that mustache that adds to it he's tall and he was just I mean these bats players I felt sorry for the bats fans were almost cheering the guy because you know you're watching something and you're like I'm seeing something cool he again he was the number one pick i'm not like giving you some sleeper out of but i'm telling you i'm going to be glad one day i said i was at his first triple a game because he was unbelievable the pirates are like five and oh and they have him coming up billy paul skeins i mean when you have a mustache like that and you're on top of the world date and livy done i mean what more can you

accomplish i mean that guy is already on a collision course for success i remember him open up on our wildcats pretty bad last year too I almost asked, I almost asked Mingioed about him yesterday just to see, because I couldn't believe how, like, he scared me, and I was in the crowd. At a minor league game. At a minor league game. The other thing was, walking from my house to the bat stadium, I went through New Lou in Louisville.

Yeah. That, for all the people who talk trash about Louisville, go to Newloon. That place in three years has transformed. It's one of the, it's, it has now joined for me, Bardstown Road. and like parts of Lexington as the coolest place in the state. Well, what's going on?

What's your definition of cool? I mean, there's just a book shop there? It's just a book shop. There are lots of book. It's not a crazy guess. But has anybody ever called a bookstore a bookshop? I don't know.

I mean, kids barely read nowadays. It's all on TikTok anyway. There was a candle store. A skyline. This is the best street ever. The coolest place. Louisville. I'm just saying it was like six blocks of sort of modern, cool stuff.

There were people everywhere. They were having like a hot dog contest or something. And there were just, it was just, it was cool. It was, I was happy to see because downtown Louisville has had issues. And the new part of Louisville, New Lou, I thought was nice. I've been to New Lou, but it's been a long time. I'm sure they've added to it even more. So yeah, it was even doing well as it was getting started over there.

They had like paintings, Billy. Paintings. Painting, so we have a book shop, paintings, a hot dog contest in a candle store. Does Nulu want you speaking for them? Someone's listed right now. Like, we have so much more than our camel shop. They have a hotel. I think there's a Clayton and Crub over there.

There is. That's where Clayton and Crew is. Yeah, I've been over there a few times in that one. Who's next, Rick? I don't want to listen to these two. The leather shop that they have over there. Rick, go ahead. Blacksmith?

All right, Matt Drew and Billy. I have to come up with a solution to the Cal problem. I just wanted to get your also opinion. The power ball drawing tonight is over a billion So on my way home from work, I'm thinking about buying a ticket. And when I win, I'm going to buy, not buy out, I'm going to buy Cal's contract. He's got five years left to coach. My nephews, elementary school, these eight, they really stay. They really need some help. Cal's so good with all these freshmen guys.

How much magic could we create? So you're saying, I mean, hang on just a second. I just want to be clear. You're saying that if you win Powerball, you want to. to buy Caliperi's contract, but not to buy him out so that he will coach your nephew's eight-year-old basketball team. Yeah, yeah. And then once the five years is up, then he becomes my special assistant for the rest of his life, right?

He becomes your, oh, he becomes like your personal ambassador for the rest of this. Okay. I'm not going to be me to him. He can just come over twice a week and he'll be old then. So he can just like sort mail, pick up the laundry. You know, I won't make him use a weed eater. any law equipment because we know from history. No good with that.

Like, if you could just air all grievances and, like, say stuff. Do you what, let's just say, like, one piece of advice. Is that okay? Would you do that?

Yes, sir. Yeah. All right. So, Drew, what would be your, if you were to give, and again, not that he needs our advice, but if you were to give one piece of advice, what would it be? Appreciate the call. My one, well, I'll do a basketball and then a not basketball. Okay.

My basketball would be get older, especially inside. I just think a couple of them. basketball, the freshman. We just saw he had three, seven footers. A lot of times they just weren't physical enough. Poor Aaron Bradshaw is a great basketball player, but when we played Tennessee, they put him wherever they wanted. He was in the parking lot trying to guard people at times. So I would say add some physicality and some age in your front court. And then I would say beyond basketball, maybe just a big hug to the Big Blue Nation, as we've said. It doesn't have to be on the show.

It doesn't even have to be me. You don't have to like me, but maybe show the fans that you're still Just as you were years ago or an all-in-on-on-this and that you love them and you know had been going well, but brighter days are a hit. Being so quiet and real G's moving in silence like lasagna, we tried that last summer. It didn't work. Let's hug some B-B-N, Cal. Do some shows. Go on those podcasts.

Go on the pre-show. All right, so what about you? I think his rhetoric matters, like when he's talking about basketball, Benny's, or he puts blame on the players for being young freshman as the reason why the lost the NCAA tournament. I think all of that piles up and matters to not only the people that playing on the court, but the fans that are supporting him.

So it's no basketball. It's just more of a PR of the way that you treat people, I think, flows over into other areas of your life. Okay, I like that. Mine would be this. Mine would be very simple. I want you, Cal, to go find someone who has the exact opposite view of you on basketball, who looks at basketball the exact opposite way you do and just bring him in as a

counterbalance to your, that may you have to listen to him all the time, but just bring him in to give the counter case. I use this example all the time, but there's never been a smarter conservative Supreme Court Justice than Antonin Scalia, who's dead. Now, he hired a liberal every term because he said, I want someone to help me challenge my assumptions. Cal, go bring in your liberal. All right.

Go bring in your person whose job it is to challenge your assumptions and make you think and coach differently. That would be my advice. I think that would help him in a million different ways. Can you teach an old dog? Go ahead. Let him. Yes, go ahead, sir. And then my last question, Matt, for you is, how excited are you about WrestleMania?

Like, I feel like this build up recently. I mean, the rock. It looks like a movie out there on there. With Netflix buying it up, I feel like we're going to a new air. Yeah, I'm excited about it. You got the Rock. Cody Rhodes, appreciate to call. Roman Raines, this whole storyline with the bloodline.

It's going to be great. Speaking of that, I'm glad you said that. We are talking about showing WrestleMania here Saturday night while the final four is going on. I just, he's, well, I'm not getting into all that. Are you a big fan? No, no, I just listen every now and then. Okay, good. Who's up next? That's Sean up next. Sean, go ahead, Sean. Hey, guys, a quick question on Travis Perry.

I know this time last year, we knew Reed was coming in. We thought maybe get 15, 20 minutes a game, maybe be around two or three years. I know he won't have that impact. But can he defend? I know he's not as athletic. I know he's supposed to be a better shooter. What kind of impact do you think Perry will have? Don't want to compare him to Reed.

Yeah, people are naturally comparing him to Reed because he's from Kentucky. I think it's different. I appreciate the call. I think Reed was, this is just my read on it. I actually think Travis Perry can be as good, if not a better shooter. I think he's an elite shooter. I think he's a pretty good ball handler. I think he will not be a good defender, but at Tom Shepard wasn't a good defender.

But I think there is definitely a role for him on. Kentucky. I don't know if he's the all-around player that Shepard is, and that tends to be what Cowell will like, so I'll be interested to see how Cal would use him. But do I think Travis Perry can play at Kentucky? Yes, I do, but I do not think he's Reed Shepherd. I agree. I mean, he's a bucket. He'll get minutes, especially as he gets a little older and catches up physically. I also didn't think Reed Shepard would do anything, Reed Shepard did. So, like we saw Reed right away in Toronto, block a three and go for a two-handed dunk. I don't know. Travis, He wasn't going to be doing that, but he'll still be getting lots of minutes and it's not like a sympathy offer that he has.

He'll play. If Cal uses him right, there's definitely a role for him. But I don't think, like, Shepard, to his credit, was like Cow's kind of guy. He could do everything a little bit and he could. I don't know that Perry is that. He'll have to use Perry the way a lot of these other teams use dudes who come off and shoot, you know. He's a lot, I'll put it like this. He's a lot more gulky than he is Perry or than he is Shepherd.

And unfortunately, the expectations are sky high after what Reed did, you know, unfair or unfair to Travis. He's better than Golky. Don't get me wrong. Like, he can go to the basket and stuff. But he's a lot more like that, in my opinion, than he is like Reed. But we'll see. The Kentucky basketball fans, it's time for clear-cut hero, the revolutionary hydration drink.

Well, I don't have a question. I just have a comment. Okay. I want to show some love to Mitch Barnhart. I've never been the biggest fan of Barnhart. He's a little slow with alcohol, NIL, and basketball facilities. but I love to hire for the women's team. I think that's going to be a home run.

And I just think he's handled the Calipari situation great. So as someone that's been a vocal critic of Barnhart, even though he's very competent and good at what he does, let me ask you a little slow. You said Cecil, you said Cecil, you think he handled the Calipari situation correctly? Oh, yeah, yes, I do believe. There was a lot of negative forces out there, you know, the same forces that drove out Jobby and Tubby and made two alcoholics, raging alcoholics.

You couldn't, in my opinion, a former player in Colts perspective. I don't think you could have fired Calipari with his history. Let me ask you a question. If Cal were to go, if Cal were to losing the first round this year, would you bring him back again? then it would be a question I'm asking you the question C. So anybody can say it would be a question. Would you do it?

I would bring him back. So you would keep bringing him back no matter how much he lost in the first round? Because you wouldn't put me either or you wouldn't let me explain myself. But given like you asked, I would bring him back. Given the

if, which I'm assuming the replacement, would be similar to this year's replacements. That's a part of the reason why I thought Mitch Barnhart done it, right? The old heads are too old or retiring, and the young bucks, they went somewhere else. The timing was bad for us. So you can't fire. So you would do it again next year.

Like you lose in the first round next year to Stony Brook. He's back? Yes, yes. Okay. I appreciate the call, Cecil. Yeah. I mean, look, if that's your standard, then I can't argue with it. I mean, if your standard is three losses in the first round and four years is okay,

then I understand that. That's your standard. I don't know. I mean, my view about that is this. If what you're saying, the way I put it a few weeks ago, if you're asking me, is 2010 to 2019 Cal replaceable? The answer is no. We will not find anybody better than that.

What's up? Matt, you seem to know a lot of people in high places, and I'm wondering if there's any movement on getting a professional sports team in the state of Kentucky anytime soon. We've had a lot of semop. We have the soccer team. teams. I know that you may not consider that. But we have a professional team at the highest level of women's soccer and at the second

highest level of men's soccer in Louisville. If you're talking about one of the four major sports, basketball, baseball, football, hockey, the only one that's really feasible is the NBA. And I think from what I understand, the people that sort of really push that for the NBA in Louisville. Louisville's basically the third choice and they're picking two. So they're going to pick two and Seattle and Vegas are probably going to get it. And Louisville will be the, but if a team were to ever move after Seattle and Vegas get their

expansion teams, I think Louisville would be a contender, but I don't know that I would say they'd be a favorite. So the short answer to your question is I don't see it happening in the near future. All right. Appreciate it. I mean, we'll never get a pro football. team. I don't think we'd ever get a hockey team. Too many games in baseball, our city, and we got Cincinnati down the road. So I think basketball's the one chance, Drew, and I think if they ever get

to like 40, we'll have one. But as it is right now, we probably won't. And NBA DeLu was making that push, but that's even cold off little. They might realize chances got slim with Seattle. The best chance we ever had was when Memphis almost moved, because we might have been able to get Memphis to move here. We'll be right back. I think we should wear a super. more often. I feel very like, I don't know, I feel like very professional. We told Cal would do that. It didn't really work.

Yeah, that's true. But I just feel, I don't know. I mean, I'm not going to do this every day. Like I had to get up, take a shower, you know, comb my hair. It's a lot to do in the morning. Get it up, take a shower, and comb your hair. But I'm just saying I feel like, you know. Well, you know, we got Keenland coming up.

That's a suit. Derby, if you're going to Derby, that's a suit. I'm going to Keyland one day. I'll wear that. I don't know if I'm doing Derby or not. We'll see. But yeah, it's a lot of suits. A lot of suits.

Do you ever, you're not wearing a suit? Do you wear suits ever? Not often. No. Do you have a suit? I do. Yeah, I got a couple. But, you know, COVID just kind of changed my mindset and all of that, really.

So when do you, when do you wear a suit? If you don't wear a suit, like, to, like, what do you wear it to? Anniversary dinner or, or, you know, anniversary dinner. Where do you, where do you, what, Where do you go on your anniversary? We pile all the quarters together and maybe go to Jeff Rubies for a night. Good for you. You should do that.

You should treat yourself. You work hard. I'm not even being sarcastic. You work as hard as anybody in the company, and I'm proud of you. Well, thank you. I appreciate that. One person writes in the text machine, can Billy grow a beard? Not really.

It's got too much slick back up top to worry about a beard. It got a little mustache and a little chin. chin music. So you don't think you could grow a full beard? No. Not right now. Do you think that flow is going to stay around forever? You're awful cocky for someone that hadn't hit 30 yet.

You don't know what's ahead. You don't know what's on the other side of that number. I said this on fade this. I'm not losing this hair line. You know, they say, though, they say if you, this, I read this somewhere. If you haven't started losing your hair at 32, you won't. So you got four more years of holding on. Yeah.

Well, I got like a little like Widow's Peak. right here it's already starting a little bit but that's not bad you're okay my dad's got great hair so i think that's a good sign but just look at keanu's brother that's what you look at my mom's brother your mom's brother or your mom's father that's what you look at okay well it's not bad either so so that that just that's what they say i don't know if that's true that's just what they that's just what people say uh what person writes matt cecil uh said there are no candidates that are good enough for the uk job do you agree with that well on paper there's no sure thing but here's what i would say let's look at the guys in the final four

okay who's in the final four let's go over there where danny hurley come from buffalo yeah right didn't he come from buffalo i mean he was a high school coach for a while saying he was a high school coach so when yukon hired him did they know he was going to be good i don't think so no when alabama hired nate notes from Buffalo. Did they know he was going to be good? When Purdue hired Matt Painter, did they know he was going to be good? And when NC State hired Kevin Keats,

I'm not even sure if he is good, but they didn't know he would be good. So most coaches that have success, you don't know it's going to work, right? I mean, John Shire and Hubert Davis, I don't know that I think those were good hires. But to be fair, Hubert Davis has been to a final,

John Shire's been to an elite eight in the last few years. So, you know, again, I keep saying this. We're going to have to do this someday. So, like, it is what it is. Yeah, I understand why people would want to keep cow. I don't argue with anyone that still likes cow, but the people that are like, well, when he's gone, it's just over. Zero percent of me believes that, especially now when you can go to the portal.

Well, and Cecil said, look what happened. when you ran off Joe B? Well, we had a couple bad years of Eddie Sutton, but then we had Rick Petino. That ended up all right. Look what happened when you ran off Rick Petito left? Well, we won a national championship with Tubby. Well, look what happened when Tubby left. Well, we had two years of Billy, and then we got Cal.

This program will survive any coach. It will survive any coach. If Mitch hired Cal instead of Billy, we'd have just had two more years of being really good. Right? Yeah. And didn't Eddie Sutton do, like, Elite 8, sweet 16 and four years. If Eddie Sutton hadn't cheated, we'd have been fine.

Eddie Sutton is in the hall. If he's either is or is going to be in the hall of fame. I won 30-something games this first year. Oh, there is an extra spotlight for the Kentucky job that's not made out for everybody. But I go back to a point that you said, Matt, that, you know, can you do any worse than what's been happening lately? Well, you can. Look at Louisville. You can do worse.

As much as I was jealous and want to be in it. A school like NC State, having not done it in so long, seeing that line for him and just their campus that night and the excitement they have, I am pulling for them, not just because I hate the other ones. It is neat to see a team that hadn't been there. I'm definitely pulling for NC State.

I hope they win. I don't think they will, but I think it would be awesome. I think we're headed for Purdue-UCon, don't you? Yeah, did you see the drunk kid write his professor, and his professor shared the email? He wrote him like 2 a.m. It was gibberish, and he's like, we shouldn't have a test tomorrow. He's like, I'm loaded. a professor emailed out to the whole class and says, I agree with your classmate.

Tess is canceled. It was just the words did not add up. That's great. I love it. How about NC State and Yukon both teams in the final four? They have a chance to have, it's unlikely, but Yukon could play NC State in both the men's and women's final four. That's pretty incredible.

And the DJ Burns hype has already reached unprecedented levels. ESPN commentators were saying that he should be an NFL prospect. Now that you have this like Empire, you've got a wrestling company, podcast, radio shows. Who do you support with NIL, if anybody? Do you mean what athlete do we support? Yes, sir. We've not done with athletes, but we've done.

We have done a number of things with two or three of the collectives. To be quite frank with you, I think it would be a conflict of interest for me specifically to have an athlete. We've talked about doing a thing where the fans could contribute and there be one athlete for the fans. And we might still do that at some point. But to be honest with you, there's some logistical things and legal things when you're over the public airway. and you raise money. It's, it's, I know, my guess is, sir, you're asking me that question to insinuate that like we don't, uh, we don't give money, even though we make money from the program.

Is that your insinuation? No, there's just, just that curiosity. Well, I listen to all of your platforms. Okay. Yeah, I mean, I, we work with all the collectives as you've seen with the, on the show. we're hosting Antonio Reeves here next Friday for a signing, and I've talked about doing something, but I don't know that we can do something with a specific athlete,

although we may set it up where fans can do something with an athlete, but we're still trying to figure out because when you go over the public airwaves and you raise money, there's some legal stuff you've got to make sure it works. And if not, if not, do you think we'll go after Chris Quinn from Heat? No idea on Chris Quinn. As far as Rondo, yes, I would love it. I think having Rondo on staff, first of all, I think he's smart. I think he knows how to play the game. Listening to him in Boogie Talk was great. He's on campus. He takes classes with some of the players.

Drew, I would. How do we make it happen? Well, I mean, we don't do anything. Cal has to decide, and I appreciate the call, but I would love it. I mean, I would love to have Rondo there. I think he needs to graduate for him to be a graduate assistant. I don't know when that's going to happen, but I would love to have Rondo involved in the program. Yeah, there's also some hiccup with his AAU team because he's named after him,

so we'd have to kind of change his whole AAU operation to even be able to be a coach. I think there's something there. And also it seems like right when Rondo's life is going well, he just gets into a little bit of legal trouble that pulls him back just a little bit. He's had a few things. But from a basketball standpoint, you hear interviews of NBA coaches, his former players in the NBA. They just talk about what a basketball mind he has. So if they could find a way to get that near Kentucky basketball, I wish they could find it to figure it out.

You're right about the smarts. I've heard nothing but great things from greats in the NBA about how smart he is. And I know his sister pretty well, so maybe I'll ask her. You know his sister pretty well. Yeah, she worked at I-Heart for a while. Oh, that's right. She did. I forgot about that.
