Got a young man who got hurt in Somerset,
but he's getting he's getting rehabilitated and he's going to come back.
And what school you go to?
Southwestern, he's going to come.
Southwestern is going to take over.
Look out.
You get that dude's knee brace off and then watch out.
Watch out whatever region that is.
Southwestern, he's going to take them next year.
12th?
Yeah, 12th region.
12th region.
Yeah.
All right.
People were talking about music rivalries.
What about Neil Young and Leonard Skinner, Shannon, right?
I don't know if I know this.
Yeah, so Leonard Skinner has that song.
I hope Neil Young will remember.
Oh, yeah.
Southern man don't need him around any half.
Sweet Home Alabama.
So you don't think I'm Southern.
Listen to me, Noah.
That sounded exactly like it.
And then Neil Young has a song called, like, I guess they were beefing.
I don't know why.
But I guess they had some kind of beef.
And then you said Billy Ray Cyrus.
had a beef. I don't know if I believe that.
I don't think they traded
songs lyrics back and forth, but
when Billy Ray Cyrus and
Akey Breaky Heart won country
music song of the year, and when
Billy Ray gets up in all of his mullet glory
to accept his award,
he said, for all the people that
say, achy-breaking heart, this is not country
music, and he slams a quarter down on the
podium. Here's a quarter. Call somebody who cares.
That's right. I remember that. I do remember
that. But why is that beef? I think because
Travis Tritted said, this is not a country,
song he's not a country music artist this ain't real country oh i remember that now you know i do you know
that that's what travis trit said i'm feeling i paraphrased a little but i think that's kind of the gist of it
okay well i don't understand why someone would look at billy ray cyrus and think he wasn't country what do
they think he is you think he's a city guy looking like that look at the mullet the mullet the mullet
screaming country people just jealous of billy race irs because that song was so huge that's it i think
that's what billy was saying because i like travis tripp but he was just being jealous
Being jealous.
Yeah.
Ake, breaky heart.
Yeah.
So.
One of your go-to karaoke songs.
No.
That, again, I like Billy Ray Cyrus, deep cuts.
I like words by heart.
Oh, yes.
Not achy-brakey heart.
I know the words by heart.
I know that one.
He was big there for a while.
Yes.
Channel play it.
Okay.
I'm not going to sing it because, again, on the podcast, and when I sing it makes, I'm an
a cappella, and it's not, I don't enjoy that.
All right.
Let's talk about a couple of things.
First, UK baseball.
UK baseball plays number two in the country.
Arkansas takes two out of three games.
First game they lost, I think, 86 to 1.
And I thought, oh, no, Kentucky is in trouble.
Maybe this whole season's going to fall apart.
But then they come back and win game two.
They win game three.
And now they win the series.
They are still in first place by themselves in the SEC with Arkansas and Tennessee.
One game behind.
They also now own the tiebreaker over.
Arkansas, although Tennessee won the tiebreaker over them, and they play this.
They play Florida and Vandy, two very manageable teams, and if they can close out and close
strong, may win the SES.
Huge, huge to win that series.
To come back and win game two and then win the crucial game three.
I mean, now they've put themselves in a position where they can win, yeah.
The only thing, I mean, they, I think more importantly, unless they fall apart against
Florida and Vandy and get swept.
They will have a chance to stay in Lexington on their whole path to potentially get to a college world series.
That's huge.
I mean, they literally could play because as long as they stay in the top eight.
And they're ranked number three or four, most place in the country.
They would be able to play in Lexington in both the regional and the super regional for a chance for their first ever trip to Omaha.
You've got to be excited.
Yeah, and like you said, these series are very manageable at Florida.
and then you got Vandy at home for your last finale.
I mean, you've got to feel good about the position they put themselves in.
That Vandy series at home.
I mean, I just want you to think about it.
If you haven't bought tickets, you got a chance to have Kentucky playing at home with an SEC title on the line.
Thing is you've got to go to Florida.
Can't lose them all.
Hopefully you can win two out of three, but you can't lose them all.
And as long as you don't do that, I feel like they're in pretty good shape.
They're so fun to watch until we talked about this, man.
I know they got their butts kick Friday night,
And then they come back, scored a bunch of runs on Saturday.
Just a gritty, tough-nose team that you just can't count them out, man.
They get down and they battle back every time.
I got some breaking news, Shannon.
Running on a nah.
Let me make sure I got his name right.
Former Owensboro quarterback Gavin Wimsett is visiting Kentucky as we speak.
I heard rumblings that this was a possibility.
You entered the portal for Rutgers?
I didn't want to say anything.
He moved a portal from Rutgers, but he is visiting.
I think that's, I think he'd be a good, you know, QB2 with Bow Island Cutter Bowley kind of thing.
What do you think?
Remember, the choices came down.
A lot of people thought he was coming to Kentucky.
I think people here in Kentucky.
We went to a high school.
I have a picture of you and I in Mask at Owensboro interviewing him.
Yeah, with Kentucky Wesleyan's football stadium and he came out of school to be on the radio with us
because Kentucky thought they were in that good a position with.
this kid started as a freshman at Rutgers.
I mean, this kid can play.
So big news, I think.
Yeah, so there's some breaking news.
All right, because I don't want to hear anybody's mouth.
I'm giving you the warning of I'm doing like five minutes political.
If you don't like it, fast forward.
All right, Shannon, because it's really not political, but I want to talk to you about
something.
I just read this this morning.
You know, Trump's on trial, and he keeps violating the court order.
They keep saying to him, do not talk about the case.
Do not talk about the case.
and then he just does it.
They find him $1,000 11 times.
I'm sure that hurts.
But again, he has so much money, it doesn't matter.
So the judge this morning said,
if you do it again, you will go to jail.
And he said, I don't want to send you to jail.
It wouldn't be good as a former president
and potential future president for you to go to jail.
But I can't get you to stop talking,
and I will send you to jail.
There's a report this morning.
The Secret Service is already looking at the jail.
where they would send him for violating the court order to see how they will be able to protect it if he talks again and has to go to jail.
So this is what I want to talk about, not whether he should go to jail or not.
I do not care what you think.
Either way, please don't send me your opinion.
What I want to talk about is let's say a former president is in jail and the secret service has to protect it.
How do you do that?
Yes.
How does a secret?
I mean, jail doesn't seem like a prison.
place where the Secret Service is going to enjoy being.
And Shannon, does the Secret Service have to sleep in jail too?
You'd think one guy's going to have to.
Yeah.
Like, who signed up for that?
You're in the Secret Service.
I didn't sign up to sleep in his jail?
Yeah.
That would just be him by himself, right?
They're not going to throw him.
There are other people.
Well, I would assume not.
I mean, you would assume they would put him like in his own cell.
Right.
Right?
Yes.
But like, what about meal time?
Yeah.
Yeah.
You got to bring the meal to him.
And it's also like, I don't think they're going to give him solitary confinement.
That can do stuff to your mind, right?
So I just find this fascinating.
Like, I don't know a lot about jails, but I've seen Oz, okay?
And I've seen documentaries.
Doesn't seem like a fun place to be.
You can't send him to New York City jail at Rikers Island.
I don't think you can do that.
You got to find one of these.
So do you think, well, that's what's going to ask you?
You think if they send him to jail, you think they should,
send him to his own personal thing?
Or do you think, like, he's making the same mistakes these other people are, so he should
be with everybody else?
I think you've got to send me one of these white-collar places.
But see, this is in prison.
This is what's interesting.
He wouldn't be going to prison where you could send him to a white-collar prison.
Yeah.
This, he has to go to jail.
Like the county jail?
Like the county jail in New York, which is crazy to think of.
They can't send him.
there. Well, they got to send him somewhere. So where are you going to send him?
If he just won't stop. If the judge does do not do this and he keeps doing it,
they, like, where do you send it? Yeah. Now the judge has said it. He's got to.
But the secret service, there's a report. The secret service is trying to figure out how they will
secure the jail, Shadden, which I find really interesting. I mean, yeah, it's interesting
enough that we're talking about a former president possibly going to jail. And I don't know how you
Does he eating the same mess hall as everybody else?
Does he get to go into the yard and walk around for exercise?
Does he wear the same thing?
Think about that.
When have you ever seen Trump in anything but a suit or what he plays golf in?
Have you ever seen him in any other clothes besides that?
No.
I don't know that I've ever seen him in anything except a suit and that white polo shirt
shirt he plays golfing.
What's he going to look like if he's walking around?
in the green uniform.
And if you're the Secret Service guy, you're going to be, have to walk with him.
You've got to eat with him.
I remember being fascinated when Chelsea Clinton went to college.
Did you ever read any of the stories about Chelsea Clinton in college?
No.
So Chelsea Clinton was in college while Bill Clinton was president.
And so they had to have Secret Service women be in her dorm.
But they didn't want people to know who was Secret Service.
So they had one woman who basically just in.
enrolled at Stanford, acted like she was a student, lived in a dorm right next to, and only Chelsea
knew that that was her secret service.
Wow.
And I remember thinking, wow, that would be, is that a cool gig?
Is it not?
They had to find a secret service agent who could look the age of being in college.
So now do you find a secret service agent that looks like a prisoner that's padded up, Shannon?
Like, what do you do?
You have to put all of the Secret Service members, I think, in orange prison garb, right?
Yeah, I mean, like, they're going to have to embed somebody in the prison.
That poor guy that gets stuck with that duty.
Like you said, I didn't sign up for this.
I just find it fascinating.
Leave aside whether you think he should be or not.
I don't care.
Just the thought of mechanically shit and how it would work is really interesting to me, you know?
Now, do you think that he'll do it?
You think he'll say anything?
Yes.
Of course he will.
Intentionally.
He's going to, of course he will.
he will. He's done it 11 times.
But his first time jail time has been threatened,
so you think that he'll... Secret Service,
obviously, doesn't have a lot of confidence in him.
I mean, I will say the Secret Service thinks he's going to do it,
because they're already scouting the place today.
Yeah. Wow.
And if you're a Secret Service guy, they can't allow you
to have your firearm in the jail,
can you? So how you... That's a great question.
I don't know.
No, that's what I hadn't thought about that.
Can the Secret Service guy have his gun?
Not in jail?
Because what if one of the prisoners took it from?
Yes.
And do they override the authority of the prison guards?
I don't know.
Because it's a state prison.
So it may just be like, think of the county you live in, the local jailer.
Yeah.
And all of a sudden the Secret Service shows up.
It's wild.
It's wild.
It is wild to think about, actually.
Who's up next?
Kevin.
Kevin.
Go ahead, Kevin.
Yes, this is Kevin in Florida.
I got, oh, the song by Paul McCartney was called Here Today, which was an imaginary
conversation between him and John.
And was it,
was he like, so John was dead?
Yeah, I know that I said imaginary
conversation. I understand, but like, so he wrote a song saying something
bad about him after he died?
I didn't say it was bad.
Okay.
Well, I was sorry. Was it bad?
No.
You know how people change when somebody dies,
then everything's nice.
They didn't do anything wrong.
Okay, well, good.
That would be mean.
That's the way it normally runs.
You know that.
Yeah.
But three nurses for you.
You got Consuel on Marcus Welby.
You got Nurse LeBern on Emptiness, and I'm surprised no one mentioned Claire Barton.
Claire Barton.
Yeah.
Claire Barton.
That's right.
Yeah.
Well, I appreciate your phone's breaking up a little bit, sir.
I'm sorry.
But the others, I don't know.
What is Marcus Welby?
Is that a television show?
Yeah, back in the day, back in the seven.
70s.
Okay.
And then what did he say the other one was?
Couldn't.
Empty nest.
Empty nest.
I remember that.
That was on like Saturday nights on NBC when I was a kid.
Yeah, I don't remember anything about it except it existed.
Well, we are honoring all the nurses today.
That's right.
Tell me about Stockton and Mortgage.
Stockton.
Stockton mortgage.

UK men's tennis team, by the way, made it to the Suite 16 as well.
They will host Harvard Saturday at 2 o'clock.
Harvard and Kentucky.
In the Sweet 16, by the way.
This ain't no spelling bee.
That's exactly right.
This is a tennis.
be bring it on harvard we'll take a break and be right back this kentucky sports radio
i know we ever rely this is this is my karaoke song this is it problem is almost nobody knows it
you know part of karaoke is you want the other people to like know it and then they get involved
nobody knows so when you sing this song you don't have to look at the screen though because you know
the words by heart i mean i do it just to i do it just to make sure i don't screw up but yes i do know
the words by heart i don't
sang it for you in the car before oh yeah oh yeah we've heard it it's a good performance oh it's
one of my favorite performances ever he was just on the top of what little naus x and he was uh
that was a while back yeah like yesterday that was i remember when i have a vision of us playing that
song we were in studios that was pre k s bar so that was a while back was it that long ago
that long ago yeah wow i know time flies doesn't it i'm 57 years old oh i know what happened
um you got old what happened
So was Mike Tyson, so what's your excuse?
Yeah, Mike Tyson's 57.
He's fighting Jake Paul.
You want a piece?
I want no peace of that man.
I'd be scared to death if I was Jake Paul.
Scared to death.
See, I think he's crazy.
Jake Paul's going to kill him.
But Mike Tyson's crazy, man.
You don't want to fight crazy.
But Mike Tyson will have like two minutes in it.
That's it, and that's all he needs.
He'll have like two minutes.
But wouldn't you take Jake Paul, Shannon?
I mean, he knows how to box.
You guys both would take Tyson.
I would.
I would.
I'll take that bet.
Tyson has been balked in the 16.
Wait a minute.
With the understanding that it's a real fight.
Like if it's a fake fight,
it's supposed to be real, right?
If it's a real fight.
So the Nevada Athletic Commission will not sanction fake fights.
Other states will.
So if it's in Nevada, which is what they say it'll be,
and they sanction it so that I believe it's a real fight,
yes, I will take your money.
And listen, I hate the Paul brothers, but he'll be better.
He's 30 years younger.
But he's only been boxing for, like, what, five or six years?
But people who know boxing say he's good at it.
They say he's good?
And Tyson at the end of his career was losing to just random people.
Maybe on purpose.
I'll take, you want the bet?
I'll be in Europe, but I'll bin-mow you.
We'll just do the draft king.
What's the exchange rate?
No, no.
Why should we give it to draft kings, let them, you know, take a peat.
Let's just me and you one-on-one.
What do you want?
I have a big $5 better.
I bet $5 at a time.
Let's do 500.
No.
I said five.
How about 10?
No, five.
I always bet just five.
You always bet just five?
Just five dollars.
Let's say you believed it.
Kentucky's playing, I don't know.
Oakland?
Like I bet all my money when they played Oakland.
Ryan just bets punt on everything.
That's it.
Punt.
Okay.
So you're legitimately, we'll go $5.
I'll take Paul, you take Tyson.
Let's go.
Let's do it.
All right.
I'm in.
Let's do it.
Who's up next?
Matt.
Matt, go ahead, Matt.
Hey, Matt, this is Matt.
Thank you.
What's up?
Whoa.
Huah, I got the hoo-a.
I just wanted to call and just express my gratitude for what you guys do.
It's hard to be having a mental disorder, and you guys bring me such just relief from just thinking about everything that I go through.
and I have a son that's 21 years old,
and he listens to this like it's religious.
And I've had an estranged relationship with him for a while.
And, you know, this is the only thing that we really can come together on.
It's your show.
Well, you know, sir, just so you know, I hear that.
I hear what you just said actually quite a bit.
The amount of people that say to me something to the effect of,
I'm a father and the one thing my son or daughter and I kind of have in common as we talk about your show.
I get that a lot and I really value that because the goal of this show is to reach as many people as we can.
And if it can be a bridge to use Ryan's language, a bridge for you to bond over, we appreciate that.
And everything else you're going through, I'll pray for you and God bless you, man, and whatever.
it is, it can and will be better. I've been through it. And, and, uh, I'll be praying for you.
Okay. I appreciate it. And I, you know, I saw you at roosters. I don't know. I was back on.
Oh, I do remember that. Yes. I do remember that now. Yeah. And so I wanted to approach you, but
the nerves got to me. Well, don't be nervous. It's, I appreciate you and just want to let Isaac know. He calls you, he calls you,
after games and stuff.
We're from Tennessee, but he's called you before,
and it just warms my heart to hear his voice just over the airwaves, man.
I appreciate you guys, and just to love what you do so much.
I hope you guys do it for so many more years to come.
Well, thank you very much.
Well, God bless you, man.
I appreciate the call.
Man, that's why we do what we do.
That's it.
And that's my favorite element of this show is how we're able to connect with other
people. You know, everybody's got issues they're dealing with. And you hear this a gentleman like
that, they're able to connect with his son to this show. That's why we do this. That's why we do it
every day. You know, every night when I go to sleep, I pray and I always leave a little part of the
prayer for the various listeners who, and it's not just call in. I mean, the text machine,
somebody every day, and most days, multiple people, write me to tell, talk about what they're
going through.
And it's, you know, clearly they want to express that.
And so I not only want to hear it, I pray for them every night.
I don't take lightly that responsibility in terms of this show and what it's able to do for people.
And I appreciate it.
I mean, honestly, Shan, if we can all bond over making fun of Ryan, then what else is there to do?
Like, isn't that what we're on this earth for?
I will gladly accept that role, and I will relish in that role.
Did you watch any of the Tom Brady roast?
They had a roast last night of Tom Brady.
It was, I think, six hours long because I couldn't stay through all of it, but I watched some of it.
No, I heard Shannon and Billy talk about this morning, but I did not see any other.
Just a little bit.
It's too long.
Yeah.
Three and a half hours too long to be up there talking.
For a guy like that, though, who has just been praised his entire life to get all that negativity thrown at them in like two or three hours.
Well, someone who's been roasted.
That's nerve rack.
Yeah.
I was very nervous going into it, if you remember, mostly because my mom was going to be there.
I was very nervous that something like, I didn't know how my mom would handle everybody.
But it was a great fun in hindsight.
And there are still lines from that that I quote, you know, every year at a roast, there's somebody that's a sleeper really funny.
Ours was Mary Joe.
Mary Jo Perino.
Mary Joe Perino.
I feel like Perrin Johnson got it worse than I did during that row.
Adam Edelon got it pretty bad too.
Yes, he did.
Yes, he did.
That's the thing.
If you're up on that stage getting ready to roast, the person, you can also better be prepared.
You might get roasted also.
Oh, not might.
You definitely will.
Where did you get that T-shirt?
Party, like it's 1996?
This is the Jack Givens Goose T's line.
Goose T's?
Goose T.
What is a Goose Tee?
It's a shirt like this that makes me look handsome and debonair.
But you're saying Jack Givens makes those T-shirt?
Yeah.
Goose T-Tee's.
By the way, I nearly finished Jerry Tipton's book.
I really enjoyed it.
He was awesome when he was on the other day.
I mean, I've almost finished the whole thing.
I think if you're a Kentucky fan, especially if you span a few generations, you'll love it.
Awesome.
Because he talks about moments and as he talks about him, you remember him for sure.
We'll take a break.
Barry Backs, KSR.
Welcome back, Tegu Sports Radio.
All right, a couple of little tidbits here.
First of all, somebody made a really good point on the table.
here at the bar.
If he has to go to jail,
I bet they won't let Trump have his makeup.
No way.
And his hair care products.
Nope.
No, I'm not even like talking trash.
It's like just truth.
Like, they won't let him have that.
Nope.
So that's weird to think about.
Right?
Probably there's other things with him.
They probably won't be able to have.
It's just.
Yeah.
Like they don't let you have makeup, Shannon in jail.
Does he wear makeup?
I know he has like a tanner he puts on.
Of course he does.
I mean, like, let's, I mean, look, well, I'm not getting it.
But of course he does.
I mean, that's not, that's obvious.
So it's like the hairspray.
I mean, I thought, yeah, I didn't know he wore makeup.
Well, you should read a book sometime.
All right.
I mean, it's out.
Like, it's, okay.
Okay, so there are rules about the Jake Paul, Mike Tyson,
all right?
It's in Texas.
That worries me a little bit.
Because, you know, outside of Nevada and like New Jersey, the rules on boxing can be a little.
But it's in Texas.
They will wear 14-ounce gloves instead of 10 ounces, which is what's normal.
I don't know what that, how big a difference.
That probably helps Tyson because he's bigger, right?
It's a little fluffier.
But they won't hurt as much.
They won't hurt as much, basically.
Eight two-minute rounds, which will also help Tyson because endurance will be his issue.
So those are some rules that probably help Tyson.
You're not feeling good about your $5 bet anymore?
No, I still go with Paul.
Still go with Paul.
And again, I don't even like the Paul brothers.
But I just like 57 years old is 57 years old.
And he was a dude Shannon that what made him good was his quickness and all these things that he probably doesn't have.
Although, I mean, I did see the video of him on the bag.
He looked crazy, but he's not going to be able to do that forever, right?
So is there worried that it's a fact in Texas that maybe there will be people?
paid off to take a fall.
I don't know what the Texas rule.
I just, I had somebody tell me about boxing once.
If it's not in Las Vegas or Atlantic City or New York City, don't buy it.
Really?
Because they're the ones that take the rules very seriously and everybody else, you know, it depends.
Jake Paul is, he's not, he's beat some, like, legit people.
No, he's beat legitimate fighters.
Yeah, for, for sure.
The KSR, my final qualifier for trivia is Wednesday night.
It was supposed to be Thursday, but I have to move it because I'm flying to see my mom.
So Wednesday night is the final qualifier, and then the finals are a week from Thursday.
But Wednesday night's a final qualifier.
So get your team ready.
I know it conflicts with the bowling, but there was just no other way to do it.
But Wednesday night, get your team.
If you want a reservation, you should do it.
It'll be our finer, finer, final qualifier for $5,000 in the next Thursday,
5Gs on the table for somebody here at KS Barger.
You have not qualified yet, Ryan.
The dream team is still on the outside looking in trying to qualify.
So you have one more chance.
Monique's going to add up the amount of qualifiers we have to see how many are available.
Could be up to five or six available on Wednesday, but you will have to be in that group.
You even trying to help me last week.
You said, okay, instead of three qualifiers, we're going to.
to take four and I still didn't get in.
Yeah.
Shannon, I kind of wonder if he's going to make it.
You know what I mean?
It depends on how many ringers he brings in.
We've had a couple roster shakeups this summer, but I think we're locked in now.
One person writes, Matt, I want to hear from all three of you a television show recommendation
I'm running dry.
All right, I'm going to give you three.
Funny, the new Conan O'Brien travel show is hilarious.
It's called like Conan Must Go.
I didn't, I hate those kind of shows, but I actually think it's great.
So, number one.
Two, a show I didn't know existed, but somebody told me about, Shannon, it's like the Italian Sopranos.
Okay.
And it's called Gomorrah.
And it's about the mob in Naples, Italy.
Now, it's not for the faint of heart, okay?
Like, you don't watch it with your children, and there's violence.
But it is great.
and watch it in Italian with subtitles.
They have it where you could get the American voices,
but they don't sound right.
Watch it. It's called Gamora.
It's on HBO.
Okay.
And then finally, this one isn't necessarily like a feel good,
but I'm watching on Netflix, Ripley.
I've heard of that.
Great.
Yeah?
Like, I think that's, like, going to be nominated for an Emmy show.
Ripley is really good.
What's your recommendation?
I'm only watching two right now.
I'm watching the Bon Jovi documentary on Hulu.
I'm halfway through that.
Is it good?
It's really good, especially growing up in the 80s.
Okay.
And then I'm in, I got one more season to go on the Santa Clarita diet with Drew Barrymore and Tim B.
The one about zombies?
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's kind of funny.
It's a comedy.
You like that one?
Yeah, I like that one.
I got one more season to go.
Those are, that sounds.
Because I'm waiting on righteous Jim Stones.
I'm caught up with that.
Oh, the show I liked a lot I've talked about before, Hacks, the one about the comedians.
That third season's just out.
I'm a big fan of that show.
I haven't watched the third season yet.
All right, what about you, Shia?
I don't only watch TV shows,
so I don't only have the patience to sit through an entire series.
I mean, the last one that I watched was probably you on Netflix.
That was a while ago, wasn't it?
But, I mean, there's a new season coming out, like, the final season at some point this year,
so I'll probably watch that.
That would be my only recommendation, but if you haven't watched the other ones,
then you're way behind.
Yeah.
Apparently there's a documentary on Hulu.
Everybody says really good about this, the first ever reality.
show contestant. They put this guy
in Japan in a room for like
15 months and wouldn't let him leave
and apparently it was really awful
and it's about that. It's called the contestant.
No kidding.
I would watch that. Yeah. I bet
you would like it. When I watched it, I thought this
is something Ryan and Shannon would like. Who's up next?
Blake. Blake, go ahead, Blake.
Hey guys. Just talking
about the NIL stuff, I know that the
university can't actually
pay them yet because they're not. It's not legally
yet to do that. But what if, you know, can individual employees pay into NIL? Like, you know,
that's a great question. I think the answer is right now, we don't know. But like you're asking if,
like, a coach or something could pay, I don't know the answer to that question. And I don't
honestly. Let's say they had like an IL director position that was started. And he made, let's say,
$10 million and just $9.5 million of that went to some NIA.
Yeah, I'm going to guess that's a no.
But here's where this is headed.
I appreciate the call.
I read a really good article this morning while I was sitting out in the car waiting about the NIL stuff.
It seems like there's a group of attorneys that are representing, quote, unquote, the players, which is, this is all very complicated.
It's legally dubious to me whether or not a group of people can represent all the college players, if the players haven't said they represent them.
but let's just say for sake of argument they can.
The NCAA and this group are in the ballpark of setting something that I think would be pretty good,
which basically gives players, athletes, the benefit of being employees in collective bargaining,
but without making them employees.
Because once they're employees, a lot of other stuff gets in.
So it would allow the NCAA and athletes to neglect.
negotiate, but they wouldn't be employees.
In order for that to happen, though, Congress has to pass a bill saying that's okay.
So what they're hoping is this athlete group and the NCAA goes to Congress and says,
hey, we collectively want you to pass this.
And they think if that happens, that will lead Republicans and Democrats to come together
and pass it.
So we'll see.
I think this thing is moving quick.
I think the people realize what a cluster, the portal has been this year in NIL,
and they're trying to fix it before next season.
I got you.
I'm going to ask you, what was the timetable on something like that?
They want to do it like this summer.
This summer.
Now, whether or not they're able to do it, we'll see, but that's what they want.
It's a lot.
I mean, it's confusing, and there's a lot that goes along with this.
But something has to be done.
We're still in the Wild Wild West.
We're going to look back.
I think we're going to look back and say,
that the kids, especially in football and basketball,
the kids that went in the portal this year,
hit the jackpot.
This was the year to go make a lot of money with no structure.
And starting next year, and if not next year, the year after that,
there will be structure.
If you were going to go to use a phrase, get your bag,
this was the year to do it,
because there were no rules and no structure.
year there'll be no rules, but there will at least be a structure that will limit kind of the top end of some of this.
So like John L. Davis who went to Arkansas, I think there's a really good chance.
Whatever he made will be the most anybody makes for a while.
You know, there's probably a lot of these guys were getting advice from attorneys who saw this coming and knew what you just said.
Like, hey, look, if you need to go, not next year, you need to go right now.
This is the year because the thing is all the things people want to have happened,
like you can only transfer once or there's a salary cap or all this.
All of those things can only happen if the players and NCAA collectively bargain.
And that can only happen if Congress lets them.
So the next step really is Congress.
And that's a shame because Congress is completely dysfunctional right now.
but if you love college athletics, they need to get together and get it done.
And I think there's some confidence that maybe Ryan that's about to happen.
And Morgan McGarvey of Louisville will be one of the guys writing it, right?
It's crazy to me.
Like, he's going to be, this dude who's a UK fan who started with me at Frost Brown Todd
and lives in Louisville is probably one of the two or three key,
parts of it just because they like the way he wrote the kentucky bill just because you know on issues
like this they go who knows what they're talking about and because he wrote the kentucky bill
he may be the only person in congress that has written an nil bill before that's why he's valuable
to them so he becomes valuable because they're like well at least he knows yeah what this
what this issue is cornbread hemp full corn full spectrum flower only hemp CBD i'm getting my
stuff ready for my trip.
And, you know, Shannon, I may be taking the oil.
Oh, yeah.
Because it would be easier to pack.
True.
Than all those gummies.
A couple of drops under your tongue.
That's right.
And then full spectrum, flour-only hemp CBD.
Use the promo code KSR for 30% off.
Check it out.
It helps you sleep, helps you relax.
A lot of you already use it.
If you have it, give it a shot, it's cornbread hemp.
We'll take a break.
Come back.
Final segment, KSR.
Welcome back.
TaguSports Radio.
859-2-80-2287.
A couple things.
First of all, under current NCAA rules,
staff members are not allowed to donate to NIL,
so that answers your question.
My guess is the courts would uphold that.
Yeah.
Unlike some of the other stuff,
I think courts would uphold that.
So that rule probably won't change it.
That keeps you from being able to pay,
you know, Mark Pope $20 million,
and then Mark Popes gives $10 million.
be a kind of run around and the uh i think courts would probably uphold i think that's a good rule
to put in place yes uh one person writes matt whenever you start talking about politics i turn it off
you should never do that that's on you i'm saying that's on you if you can hear every other
topic and it doesn't make you mad but that one that's on you that's a you issue not a me issue
and that's something you need to work on well i mean nobody like nobody nobody
ever says to me if you talk about television i'm going to turn you off you know because we can
disagree on a tv show and you're cool with that and this is like a three or four minute segment of a
two hour radio show it's okay yeah but i i i have no sympathy for that view because i'm sure
every day we talk about a topic that doesn't interest everyone yeah and they they handle it and
it ends up uh it ends up five talking about billy ray cyrus and Travis trade earlier i'm sure some people
didn't like that.
One person writes, Matt, you said you watched the Conan show,
but you normally don't like that stuff.
Why would you start it?
Because I love Conan O'Brien.
Did you like Conan when he was on?
I liked it.
I wasn't a huge fan, but I would watch it.
And back in college, I watched it every night.
Me too.
He was hilarious.
When he debuted in college when I was in college or whatever,
I thought it was the weirdest, Shannon funniest thing.
And I love it.
All of his bits.
They were so weird, and I was like, this is so good because it's so weird.
What was the dog's name?
The puppet, the dog that had the cigar.
Triumph.
The comic insult dog.
Just everything about it was so weird that I loved it.
And it was always I was up late at night because you're in college and it was on.
What was the thing that you did with the flashlight to put it under your chin?
In the year 2000.
In the year 2000.
Which was now 24 years ago.
Who's up next?
Bob and Jamestown.
Bob in Jamestown. How are you, Bob?
Good, Matt. I just wanted to comment. Are you familiar with the Derby train?
Yeah, there's a train that goes from like what, Frankfurt to Louisville or whatever?
Yeah, yeah, it takes the governor's entourage. I used to work for CSX, and it's the pride of the railroad.
I mean, it is a consist. I mean, they wash it every time they take it out.
And if anybody that happened to see it over on Saturday between Frankfurt and Louisville,
I mean, it's impressive going across the tracks.
And it's like I say, they've done it for a number of years.
It's called the Derby Train.
And it's kind of like a little showcase on Kentucky.
Like I say, the governor and vice.
Yeah, I put it.
Okay, I got you.
Yeah.
Well, that's very, very, I've seen it.
I've never been on it, but I've heard it's very nice.
Thank you, Bob.
Appreciate it.
Gavin Wimson, if he comes to Kentucky from Rutgers,
Brock Vannegriff's going to be the starter, but do you think he's number two?
Well, I would say that except everybody says,
Bo Allen had a great spring camp, like really good.
But you wouldn't think he'd come here to be number three.
No, I think not either.
And Gavin, Wimson, I think, does some stuff that maybe those other two guys don't do as well as you run.
And he can use his legs.
Oh, for sure.
Yeah, makes him more dangerous as a quarterback back there.
Sure would give, you know, we had, what was it, a couple years ago when Will Levis got hurt, we were done.
Yeah.
You know, I mean, like, we were done.
This would give you a chance to not be done in that circumstance, right?
Yeah, you're four quarterbacks deep if you count cutter, so that's a pretty good stable right there of quarterbacks.
Yeah, I think they know they can't be in that position again.
Because when Will Levis got hurt, I remember was it the South Carolina game where it didn't look like
we could even
it felt like we wouldn't gain a first down
ever no matter what
yeah because Sawyer became the quarterback
and then he got hurt
he's trying to play while he's hurt
that's a different year I thought it was the same year
no this is it was Will Levis
and then behind him was the kid from Somerset
oh yeah who was it
Kyra
Kyra yeah now you're talking about the year
that we had
Terry Wilson
or Steven Jock I can't remember they are
and then they put in
Sawyer Smith.
And then he got hurt.
And he played well against Florida.
And then he got hurt.
And then that's when we had to start using Lynn Bowden.
That's right.
Yeah.
Years messed up.
Sawyer Smith.
That's one of the great performances that's forgotten.
Yes.
Is that Sawyer Smith was playing against Florida and we were ahead.
We were beating him.
And then he got hurt and we just, we collapsed.
Yeah.
Dude tried to play.
Well, first he had to keep, he tried to keep playing.
Yeah.
And he couldn't throw it.
Couldn't throw.
I think it turned
something was broken in there
and he's out there trying to play still.
Yeah, and then you ended up with that
crazy year with Lynn Bowden run all over the place.
Yeah, who's next?
Ed.
Ed, go ahead, Ed.
Hey, guys.
I was just thinking,
do y'all remember the Eddie Sutton show?
No.
Well, he used to do something
and I wish it would come back.
He would send, he would ask the Big Blue Nation
to send postcards
with the contact information.
They wound up on a very,
barrel on his show. He reached in there, pulled out a few postcards, and he gave away home tickets.
I like to see that come back.
All right. Well, I will tell him that that baby seems like the kind of thing Mark Pope would do.
Reach into a barrel, pull out a postcard, Ryan, and you could win tickets to the game.
You know, I think technology is advanced quite a bit now. We don't have to do the postcards
through the mail. We can just, you know, send an email or a tweet.
I don't know. They're still using that whiteboard with the broken wheel.
That's true. That's true. Postcards in a row.
barrel is actually not a bad idea.
If there's anybody who's going to do it, I can see Mark Polk doing that.
I can too.
I actually think that would be pretty good.
Hey, it's nice weather.
You can make travel plans.
There's a lot going on, but you also need to be healthy.

Go to court physical therapy.
There are over 70 locations today.
all around for court physical therapy.
Ryan, big weekend for Kentucky.
They're still waiting on Jackson Robinson when it comes to the draft decision,
which could come.
I don't think they expect it to come until maybe somewhere after the 20th.
Yeah, let him go through the process.
He's got some workouts and things he'll do.
So I'm not expecting to do that later in a lot.
And he made the combine, right?
I think he did.
He did make the combine.
We had four.
But he's the only dude from our group.
that's committed that made the combat.
Gotcha.
So, all right, thank you all very much.
We will be back here tomorrow.
Appreciate all of you guys that came out today.
