Starting point is 00:02:54 KS Bar and Grill is now open. Remember we've got the Country Boy Tap Takeover. week with West Six, all kinds of new beers here this week. A lot of folks came and got them yesterday. So come check them out. We got a menu with all the new ones, lots of names. We'll go to the phones here in just a second. Let's go to a couple other stories quickly that a little off.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Did you see, Shannon, the GameStop AMC stock market thing is back. That's right. Hey, let's buy in. Let's go. It's too late. Remember, we got that one early last time. Now somebody's going to lose a lot of money. but they've gone up like a zillion percent because the dude I guess this shows you how stupid America is in 2020 for roaring kitty okay that's the guy's name roaring kitty got back online he hadn't been online in three years and the moment he got back online all of his his minions bought game stop again and now it's shot up into the air as quickly as possible now somebody
Starting point is 00:03:59 Did you still have AMC stock or did you sell your AMC stock? Yeah, he just moved forward. He posted a chair of him moving forward, which said, here we go. Wow. He was doing videos all day yesterday without context, so we knew something was coming. I don't have GameStop, but I got up first thing this morning to see how it looked, and it was taken off. They all, like, everybody got rid of it because it's not worth anything. And then now it is worth $52.
Starting point is 00:04:25 To give you an example, just a few days ago, it was worth $8. Oh, my. So if you caught it early, you could have made a lot of money. Now, at some point, this is the thing with bubbles, it'll go down. But the thing is, can you get it at the peak? Yeah. So at its peak, earlier this morning, it went to, let's see. This morning it went to, br-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-I-I-I-c't see.
Starting point is 00:04:49 But it went to a lot. And now it's back to 52. It went to 65. So the point is, that whole roller coaster we were on, is back going. We're not on it this time, Shannon. So are you sad you're missing out? I have a little bit of FOMO, a little fear of missing out on this. You know, we did so well last time, and I feel like we missed our opportunity here. I think we've already missed her. I wouldn't do it now. You should have bought it the moment his video was posted, but now it's too late. I'm sorry, I don't follow Thunder Kitty or... It's Roaring Kitty. Okay, follow your stock market. You need to follow your stock market, people. It's not Thunder Kitty. It's Roaring Kitty.
Starting point is 00:05:26 All right. Yeah. is something else, Shannon, and you need to not do that on a work computer. But go ahead. Pro tip, if something is up as big as it is right now, it's probably not going to do that forever. You don't want to be the one holding the knife. You don't want to be the one holding it. But did you ever watch the movie about it? No.
Starting point is 00:05:43 What was the name of it? I saw it, and it was really good. And I think it's on HBO Max right now. It's, I can't remember the name of it. But it's a really good, and it tells the story of exactly what happened. And Druid is now happening to get. It is. I'll be watching it all day. Like I said, I have no investment, but it's going to be a wild ride for the people that are involved.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Mystic Dan is in the preakness. Kenny McPeak did the right thing. He put the horse in the preakness. It is, however, not the favorite. Not the favorite. Muth, I think, is the favorite. That's how you pronounce it, right? M-U-T-H is the favorite horse.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Either that or Muth, but let's just say Muth. I think it was the first time since, like, the 90s, the derby winner was not the favorite in the preakness. Probably. It's happened before. Rich Strike was not the favorite when it, when, There have been a few, I think. Yeah. But maybe I'm wrong.
Starting point is 00:06:31 I don't know. But Mooth is that the, that's a Baffert horse. So it was banned for the derby. Right. So it was not allowed to be in the derby. And now it comes to the preakness like, all right, you want some mystic Dan? I bet they'll talk trash before it starts. Are they going to walk in like wearing all black and they're, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:48 these kind of the bad boys after not being allowed the derby for two years. Kind of reminds me of like when the live golfers come back to the tour and they look out of place, is Baffer going to be getting the looks and this horse getting looks for? the field? I think so. It's this Saturday, right? Yes, it's this Saturday. So will you bet on Mystic Dan? Are you rooting for the derby horse or do you like that Baffert's had like two and a half years off and now he comes in and tries to smack people around? See, I'm like, well, Drew, I think Bafford, they're the heel. So this may be a horse that Shannon likes. I'm going with Mystic Dan, the local horse with Kenny McPeak horse. Shannon, are you going for the heel or are you going for Lexington's own Kenny McPecky? I'm going for the hill, of course. I know he would. Why would I not?
Starting point is 00:07:28 He would. Well, I mean, maybe just for Kentucky pride, right? Go into the Belmont for a triple crown. Wouldn't that be exciting? It would be cool. I'm just glad that he's running, you know, because there was some debate as to whether or not he was going to. And, you know, I think that he's got a chance, right?
Starting point is 00:07:44 Why not? I mean, there's only eight horses in it, so you feel like he's got to have a shot. And then, Shannon, for you and me and you, the biggest story of yesterday, the back door in Louisville has closed after 39 years. 39 years of keeping me up late at night with noise. It is now closed. You know, that bar, everyone in Louisville has been to that bar at least once. That's the bar where the guy would walk around and sell you beef jerky out of his pocket.
Starting point is 00:08:14 He would sell you pocket beef jerky. Yes, that was the pocket beef jerky bar. I can't imagine why that place closed. So 39 years, I guess the owner passed away and his son tried to run it for a while and didn't like it. but for me, you know, that bar has been both a love and hate place. You know, for people who don't know, it's very close to where I live. And so it's very, very loud. And in its prime, it was stupid loud.
Starting point is 00:08:44 But it's still, you know, 3 a.m., people would wander out and scream and turn on music, and I would curse their name. But at the same time, it was still like a part of the area. you know, so I'm a little bummed out that it's gone away. I almost never went, even though it was so close, because it was smoky, Shannon. You know what I mean? It was like, I didn't like how it was smoky, but they had really good food. Really good food.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Really good food. It was always crowded when I went. I haven't been in a few years. It was always crowded. Now, they did sue the governor. Do you remember that? Over the COVID stuff and lost, but they did sue the governor. So some people think that was maybe the start of their downfall.
Starting point is 00:09:26 But, Shannon, as the other Louisville person, it is kind of sad, right? Like one of the last remaining old school Louisville places is gone. Yeah, it's a piece of the highlands. And, you know, there's not a lot of those bars that have been around that long that are still running. And that was one of the few that was still up and going. And kind of sad to see that one go. What I did like about that bar is, and this is kind of what I like about KS Bar on game days and stuff. It's one of the few places where you could see it like everybody, right?
Starting point is 00:09:55 Shannon, there were old. young, black, white, you know, people dressed up, people just like wandering in. Like it was one of the few places where it like got a cross-section, Shannon, of like all of Louisville there. That's right, yeah, because, you know, you go to other parts of the highlands. You kind of expect a certain crowd. Yes. The hippie-ish crowd. Yes.
Starting point is 00:10:17 But you're right. It was a good bar to go to. It got everything. So sad to see that go after 39 years of being opened in Louisville. All right, who's up first? Let's go to Joe. Joe, go ahead, Joe. Yes, thank you.
Starting point is 00:10:31 I have a comment, and I do have a question. The comment, I watched Cason Wallace last night, play for Oklahoma City. Matt, he looked like he belonged out there on the corner. Hit two big shots. Hit two big shots in that game. That series is a perfect example, and I appreciate the call of UK basketballs. I'm sorry, I didn't mean that he had another thing. I'm sorry, Joe.
Starting point is 00:10:55 I didn't mean to hang up on you there. Of UK basketball's effect on the NBA, you have Shea Alexander dominant. PJ Washington, PJ Washington has scored the third most points in that series behind Shea and Luca, more than Kyrie. Hit five threes last night. Hit five threes, and then Kaysen Wallace has made big plays as well. That was very cool to see last night. That you had Tyrese Maxie in the crowd even helped Shea up when he fell over in the crowd And of all people for him to land in the lap.
Starting point is 00:11:29 It's a former cat. And Cal and Woolard, Kenny Payne and the chicken man sitting courtside too. So a lot of Kentucky influence around the building last night. Can you believe PJ Washington? I mean, PJ Washington is outside of Luca and Shea the biggest player in the series in terms of how he's performed. When he left Charlotte, I thought he'd be one of those guys would just be a bench role player, the rest of his career. He's turning into another star.
Starting point is 00:11:55 No one of these guys that's going to just flourish in the right situation. And you, Kason Wallace was in Lucas' face, like trying to fight him, which you go, see, we didn't even see that side here. You know what I mean? Like, we didn't get to see. He was so quiet here that you didn't know
Starting point is 00:12:15 that he had that in him, really. That guy, we're going to be watching him in the NBA for a long time because I remember when he got to UK the summer before he had played a minute of college basketball, he was all about defense. And no one has that mentality in high school, but he did, and now I'm not surprised this early in his career you're seeing in the playoffs trying to lock guys down
Starting point is 00:12:32 because he's rare when it comes to that mentality. Shea Alexander is a superstar. He is. I mean, he's one of the five best players in the league, and we do have to remember that he initially set behind Qua de Greene. Crazy to even say that, but that's exactly what he came here is a backup for Quade, the backup. As a backup. And remember, that 20, you know, we talk about Kentucky teams and talent.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Yeah, he should have been the MVP. I mean, he, I mean, Yokic is also great, but you talk about teams and talent. That 28 team team, I want you to go back and look at that. Shea, Knox, PJ, PJ, PJ, Nick Richards. They were all on the same team. Diallo. Diallo. William Gabriel, who's still getting NBA checks.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Diallo. Yeah. Jared Vanderbilt, did you say him? The whole roster pretty much, except maybe Johnny David and Quate. I hate to keep saying that. Seven guys in the NBA off that team, and some of them are good. Really good. You know what haunts me every time I see Shea hit a clutch basket?
Starting point is 00:13:46 That Kansas State game, Quade Airball to three when we need the bucket. Yeah. And PJ's free throws. So PJ missed the free throws in that game. Last night he's supposed to miss a free throw. And he makes it at the end of the game. He's having flashbacks to Kansas State. He's like, I got to make this.
Starting point is 00:14:00 So who's up next year? Bill. Bill. Go ahead, Bill. Yeah, a couple quick things here. Regarding the greeting that Hal and the former players will get when they come next year, I want to say, first of all, you guys have to realize you will have a lot of influence on how the Big Blue Nation will embrace them.
Starting point is 00:14:18 And I would encourage you to be thankful for Cal's 15 years and what he did. I got very frustrated at the end, just like most Kentucky fans. But, you know, he did bring us a lot of joy, a lot of good times. And with regard to the players, I'm probably not in the same minds that a lot of people are. UK fan base was really behind Thierro and Z. They wanted to see both those guys get more playing time and thought they got shorted on that. and nobody's going to boo the players i mean everybody i there's not there's no kentucky fan who will do anything but cheer for z and theater like nobody's going to boo the player the issue
Starting point is 00:15:00 i don't know what people's reaction will be to cow but to z and the arrow there won't be anything but applause if they were to introduce tyler ulyss which maybe they will he'll get nothing but applause i don't think i i don't have any worry about those guys Yeah, I don't have any worry about those guys. Well, let me say this, though. As far as giving a resounding ovation, I mean, Z, we put a billboard up for him, we clamored for more playing time for him. And, you know, so to give him a resounding ovation.
Starting point is 00:15:31 There will be no issue. There will be no issue with the players. No one is going to boo Z. No one is going to boo the arrow. I'm not saying boo. I'm saying as far as giving a resounding ovation. Everybody will give him one. When they check in,
Starting point is 00:15:45 if they don't start, they'll get a loud ovation. The issue will be Cal. I have more confidence in the fan base than you do, Bill. They're going to be positive to everybody except maybe Cal. I see, obviously, because he's just the opposite. But that's okay. We'll differ on that. We'll see.
Starting point is 00:16:05 I appreciate to call. Nobody's got. I'll bet everything I got. Any one person will say a bad thing about Z or thing. No. Big Z is still one of us. He was kidnapped. We feel bad for him down there.
Starting point is 00:16:14 We're trying to get him out of there. Now, no one's going to, it's, you know, now we'll see what ends up happening with cows. Somehow I've gone through this, Shannon, and we haven't done any ads yet. You better get cooking. Well, give me one real quick. Well, you can always do cornbread hemp. All right, cornbread hemp.com. You go to full spectrum flour only hemp.
Starting point is 00:16:32 Of course, I thought that was on there every day. It's not on there. So then why did you say one? Because it's always on there. I sent you this an hour ago. You don't have it? Well, it's clearly you didn't either because I asked you what we were doing and you didn't have one. I was trying to give you one that you would know just off the top of your head.
Starting point is 00:16:47 And it wasn't on the list. Red State Barbecue is back. A KSR Heritage sponsor, Red State is returning just in time for barbecue season, Memorial Day. And you can pick up Red State products in the Kentucky Proud section of Liquor Barn, Critchfield Southland, the Kentucky Horse Park, Jungle Jems, and Publix. Red StateBBBBQ.com, the best barbecue sauce. You can buy it there at Red StateBBBBBQ.com. use the promo code MD20. I guess that's for Memorial Day.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Okay. MD20 to get 20% off your order with Red State Barbecue. We'll take a break. Barry Back's Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
Starting point is 00:17:33 That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source. The athlete themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear.
Starting point is 00:17:48 The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaders to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slic Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
Starting point is 00:18:47 He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
Starting point is 00:19:14 So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, everyone, it's Ryder Strong and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World. And now the PodMeets Twirled podcast. We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, who now have covered dancing with the stars, traitors, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor. So yeah, now we're experts. I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack. of survivor knowledge.
Starting point is 00:19:46 That is the point of the show. I'm just going to remind you. I have watched some Survivor. I obviously haven't watched enough. Did people not like it? Like what was just because we? Yeah. We'll be recapping the big conclusion
Starting point is 00:19:58 of the 50th season from the final attempts at gameplay to the desperate pleas of finalists to a bunch of ha, who. Ah, ha, who. Again, we are experts. So make sure to tune into PodMeets Twirled for all our Survivor 50 takes. Listen to Pod Meets Tworled on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:20:23 Welcome back, Tech Sports Radio, 859, 280,8027. One person writes on the text machine, Matt, I wish they would introduce Chin Coleman just so I can boo him. That's you. Yeah, I would probably boo that one. I don't know if I'd boo anyone else. I might boo that one. I thought of a good story about him, by the way. The other day someone asked, I'm like, I don't have any specific ones.
Starting point is 00:20:44 On the board, I was reminded that one of his tactics for the players, He told to recruit this. This was already out there. He was wanting to make only fans for the players. That's right, he did. He thought the players should to make money do only fans. Which, you know, not that. Not to be fair to him, not get naked on the only fans.
Starting point is 00:21:06 No, no, no, just like I'm in the gym shooting. You know, here's not. He thought they should do like only fans. When you and Gabriel should have done that. Subscriptions. He thought they should do. Only fan subscriptions as a way for players to make money. You also, I know you said this, but I do think it's worth repeating that we had someone tell us,
Starting point is 00:21:32 and we can't verify this. We had someone tell us that he said to a group of fans at the SEC tournament that he wanted to create a T-shirt company to sell T-shirts to the schools we were about to play for their T-shirt games. I like where our mindset was before we played Texas A&M. That one I learned after Frank's rent. So I've received so much additional info after Frank's rant, that being one of them. If you're an assistant coach of the team, why would you want to make and benefit your opponent in any way? No, no, trying to make money.
Starting point is 00:22:09 He was trying to make money. He wasn't doing it for charity. He was saying, I will sell T-shirts to the places we go for their games. He thought it was like a money-making venture. Like Arkansas, Auburnall's places have T-shirts, in theory. Someone has to provide the T-shirts. I don't know why he thought, though, he would be able to do it better. It's not like he has a T-shirt company.
Starting point is 00:22:31 And I assume most universities have their T-shirt manufacturer. I already figured out in an order. I think that process has probably been smooth for a while. Can you imagine if you're working at, like, Texas A&M, and you get a phone call from the assistant coach of the team you're playing going, got something for you. All right, Kentucky's coming in two weeks. You put out T-shirts.
Starting point is 00:22:52 I sell you the T-shirts. And they'd probably go, yeah, we got it. We have T-shirts. We're good. We got a guy. We really, you know what? We're pretty good with the T-shirt business here. We're not going to need you to get them all.
Starting point is 00:23:08 Maybe focus on Wade Taylor and Texas A&M, please. What's up next? Kaylee. Haley, Kaylee. Kaylee. Kaylee. Hi. Hi.
Starting point is 00:23:20 Can you all hear me? Yes. Okay. Hey, okay. So first time caller, long time. Who? I am calling because today is my husband, Justin's birthday. I work at a preschool and we're having graduation tonight, and I'm not able to go celebrate with him.
Starting point is 00:23:38 But I just wanted to jump on here and tell him a happy birthday. And I hope he has a good day. He doesn't all the time. Anytime we go on a car ride, you always have y'all on. the radio anytime where he in the house. Thank you. Thank you. Well, happy birthday to Justin.
Starting point is 00:23:53 I hope he has a good one. I want to go back to you for a second. There's preschool graduation. Oh, yeah. What is preschool graduation? What in the world do you do at that? Basically, the kids just get their name called out. You know, they may play some music.
Starting point is 00:24:12 Do they have a cap and gown? At some preschool. but usually just for the pictures. Typically, though, they just walk up and hug their teachers. Again, I'm not trying, you know, understand. I'm not trying to be a group. Okay, Ryan. Yes.
Starting point is 00:24:28 But what have they accomplished? Well, mainly social skills, you know, just getting to know other kids for age, like especially for these kids who were born during COVID. It's a deal. So, um, but did they have to, like, pass a test? I mean, do they have to do anything? No, they just have. the lines. Do they just have to exist?
Starting point is 00:24:51 Well, a little bit of everything. There's some kids that, you know, can color, do their shapes, and there's some kids that are just learning to, you know, enhance those social skills. But a lot of it's just kind of saying like, hey, you've made it. Now it's time to, you know, make it to the next step. And it's basically just for the parents that would just celebrate them. Ultimately, this is just for the parents. Because the kids, you know how we're asking about horse racing?
Starting point is 00:25:17 Does the horse know it's in a race? Do the kids even know they're graduating? Oh, yeah, they definitely do. Speaking of the derby, we had a whole derby day here. The kids bless their hearts. I've put pictures of every single horse on the wall. They told me which ones to pick out, and I lost quite a bit of money. But they helped me out.
Starting point is 00:25:40 Well, that's okay. I mean, so did I. So it works out. All right, well, thank you. Happy birthday to your husband and enjoy preschool graduation. Thank you so much, Matt. So what are the levels? I appreciate the call where we now have graduations.
Starting point is 00:25:53 We used to have high school and college. Yeah. Preschool? Do we have preschool? Kindergarten graduation. There's not a kindergarten. Oh, yes, there is. Right after preschool.
Starting point is 00:26:02 Fifth grade graduation. Why is there a kindergarten graduation? Eight grade graduation? Yeah. Preschool, they have it because you're going to kindergarten. It's like a big sleep forward. You're going to school. Sleep forward.
Starting point is 00:26:15 What's a sleep forward? Step forward. Okay. The kindergarten, I don't understand it, but they have a kindergarten graduation. It's a kindergarten. And then they have a fifth grade. Oh, yes. And then they have an eighth grade graduation.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Yes. I feel like that preschool graduation needs a guest speaker, Matt. Are you free? Maybe tonight. I think if there was ever a man created for preschool graduation, it's Ryan. I feel like you would be perfect as the commencement speaker. Although like Duke with the kids with Jerry Seidfeld, I think three or four would walk out, just when you walked out.
Starting point is 00:26:50 How, I mean, really? Oh, yeah, they walk across the stage. They sing a song. But they haven't done anything. It's a participation trophy. I understand, but, like, I mean, you don't have to take a test to pass preschool, right? No. You don't even have to go to preschool, do you?
Starting point is 00:27:09 Not really. No, I don't know. Did you all go? No. Yeah. No, I don't think I went to preschool. To go to school and kindergarten, you're going from half a day to full day. So it's another big step forward.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Okay, I'm not, as you know, I'm not like Mr. Old Participation Trophies are ruining in the world. I think that's usually an old man thing. With that said, I'm not sure preschool kindergarten, fifth grade, eighth grade. We need four graduations before you even get to high school, before you even get to something that actually involves difficulty. What if they start dropping out? because they thought they've already accomplished so much with all those degrees. You've got fifth graders thinking they already know everything. And then by the time you get to high school, are you like, all right, I've done this.
Starting point is 00:27:53 This is the fifth times you made me buy one of these stupid gowns. Like, I don't want to do it anymore. Is there parties and gifts around it too? Do you have a project graduation for preschoolers? Field party? Keep them from drinking. We'll take a break. Be right back.

And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
Starting point is 00:29:10 And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
Starting point is 00:29:31 he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get the flying.
Starting point is 00:29:47 He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Oh, yeah. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:30:01 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, everyone. It's Ryder Strong and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World. And now the Pod Meets Twirled podcast. We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, who now have covered Dancing with the Stars, traitors, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor. So yeah, now we're experts.
Starting point is 00:30:26 I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge. That is the point of the show. I'm just going to remind you. I have watched some Survivor. I obviously haven't watched enough. Did people not like it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:40 Just because we... Yeah. We'll be recapping the big conclusion of the 50th season from the final attempts at gameplay to the desperate pleas of finalists to a bunch of again we are experts so make sure to tune into pod meets twirled for all our survivor 50 takes listen to pod meets twirled on the iHeart radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcasts t j smith personal injury attorney call tj he'll make them pay now more of kentucky sports radio presented by stockton mortgage here's matt jones is this five
Starting point is 00:31:14 C. Good call. Yeah, the graduation song. The graduation song. This is big, like, very smart by vitamin C. Every year it comes back. Like, it's a song you're guaranteed every year. Comes graduation. You got to have something to play. There's a graduation song. Vitamin C is back every year. Just getting that, say right now, those checks just start rolling in. Yeah, by the way, did you see, uh, it's, we're here at KS bar 859-280, 2287? The, um, Paul O'Neill, the baseball player. Yes. He was on an episode of Seinfeld many, many years ago. Uh-huh. And he did an interview that said every month he gets a residual check for being on an episode of Seinfeld 30 plus years ago. And he said it is $57 a month. So he gets a check every month from Seinfeld for $57, which doesn't sound like a lot until you think about he was only on the episode for like 30 seconds.
Starting point is 00:32:10 So does that mean they have to send everyone that was. ever on an episode of Seinfeld, $57. Shannon, that would start to add up after a while. Let's see. After a year, you're looking at $684. $684 to everyone who's ever made an appearance on that show. 10 years later, it's almost $7,000. It's a lot of money. It's a lot of money after a while, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:32:33 So if a guy like Keith Hernandez was on there, maybe more than once. They said he gets $3,000 because he was on for two episodes. Yeah. So he gets $3,000 a year. So I don't know how much that would be a month, but that's how much Keith Hernandez. Just a few days ago, I was scrolling and noticed Friends was on TBS every 30 minutes for like the entire day. And I started thinking about residuals and how they just must be getting rich. Obviously, they're the main characters.
Starting point is 00:32:57 But they get $20 million a year just for that to keep airing. Yeah. What person writes on the text machine? Matt, I would take the preschoolers derby picks over the KSR parlay. First of all, shut up. We won the last KSR Parley. We're on a winning streak. We have now, we are a one game winning streak for the KSR Parlay, so shut up.
Starting point is 00:33:21 And secondly, that now is two wins that the KSR Parlay has since it was instituted. So that's pretty good. That's one more. Have you heard about the Bally's Reds Parley? No. Every game, Bally Sports, put up a Reds Parley. Three, just three things. That have to happen.
Starting point is 00:33:42 It'll be like, Ellie gets a hit, whatever, three things. They've done it for 37 games this year. They are one and 36. And the odds are like five to one every time. So even if they were just normal, they should have hit seven. And they've hit one of the 37. There's a website now dedicated to sane every time it loses, which is every single game. And I think it hit like the second game of the year and has not hit since.
Starting point is 00:34:14 Eat it, Valley's red pick. We're a lot better than you are. KSR Parlay's got two wins. I think we might be NBA experts because we've, our other NBA parlay had five teams in it, and it didn't win, but remember it missed by half a point. Half a point. And the others went, they were four hits. We're clearly NBA experts.
Starting point is 00:34:30 Maybe we should be an NBA show. I think we probably should. All right. You said, Shannon, there's a preschool administrator on the phone. Brandon's on with us, yes. Brandon, go ahead. Hi, how are you? Doing good.
Starting point is 00:34:43 So, yeah, I'm an assistant director of local preschool in Lexington, and we have what we call senior recognition day. And we do not do what some centers do. Some centers do the gown and the cab and all that. We don't call it a senior graduation. We call it a recognition because we do. When you say a senior recognition. That was getting ready to explain. So our classes, we have one-year-olds, freshmen, two-year-olds, softs.
Starting point is 00:35:08 four-year-olds, juniors, four- and five-year-olds, senior. Are you serious? You call one-year-olds freshman and two-year-old's sophomores? That's our class. I mean, some classes and some preschools will call their classroom, the butterfly room or the caterpillar room and whatever, and we didn't want to do that. No offense to anybody else, but we wanted to do something a little different.
Starting point is 00:35:29 So we were the freshmen, sophomores, the preschools, the juniors and the seniors. So, wait a minute, do you, let me ask you a question. I don't, again, I know, I'm, I'm, I'm not being disparaging because I don't know anything about children. No. But one-year-olds, I mean, isn't that just daycare? It's caregiving and nurturing. Yeah, the curriculum is not a 80 season, one, two, three.
Starting point is 00:35:53 It's nursery rhymes. It's nursery rhymes and sign language and sharing. So you do the four years of it. And mostly a lot of wiping and wiping and wiping. All right. Well, enjoy your graduation. I appreciate you telling me. I had no idea that they called.
Starting point is 00:36:10 I had the same question you had. That's why I called in was because I had the same question you had. Why do they have kindergarten graduation? I was like, what is that? And it got thinking, you know, not all kids go to preschool. So that kindergarten graduation, going to school, that first year's a big dang deal. You're leaving mom and dad. It's out into the world.
Starting point is 00:36:25 And so kindergarten graduation, I'm like, I can get down with that, but I'm kind of like you, fifth, eighth. Fifth and eighth, I think are stupid. I have to say. I appreciate it. We also don't call a graduation. Thanks for calling. I appreciate it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:37 Well, I mean, not what. Yeah, I mean, I guess you have to have celebrations. I'm with you. It's for the parents. The parents want to get up there and go, oh, let's take pictures of our kids. They're grown-ups in their little downs. A five-year-old senior, old man. My big little boy, you just become a man.
Starting point is 00:36:54 And it's like, come on. I tell you, I can remember all three of my boys at kindergarten graduation. They have this slide show. They put their picture up on the big screen as I walk across the stage. Oh, I bawled like a baby. All three of them. It's just like that. They're leaving the house.
Starting point is 00:37:12 They're not going to be little anymore, but I definitely cried every time. Sounds like that could be an email. Pictures of the kids that graduated? I'm sorry. Some of you are telling me the streaming. I am so over everything I heart technology. I am. It drives me absolutely insane.
Starting point is 00:37:33 And I don't blame any individual in the company because I know they all try. but it's like it drives me nuts like the streaming right now is not working my walking in with an eye heart shirt right now are they coming to fix it okay well i don't i'm not talking about you okay nice timing yeah i don't know who that guy is got we're quiet what were you saying matt you were saying never seen that person never seen him i have no idea he had an eye heart shirt on i didn't interrupt carry on about why hi is he here to fire one of us is that who they is that like when they send George Clooney in to tell you you're gone and up in, uh, no, I just, the streaming thing, you know, podcast, I, the Apple podcast, every podcast in the world will automatically update.
Starting point is 00:38:22 Every one of them in the entire world. There's never been a podcast that will not automatically update, except ours, except ours. For whatever reason, our podcast, you have to literally like go in and a dial-up telephone and call somebody to give you the latest update. It's unbelievable to me. I mean, you can like pull the button down, but nobody does that. How is it that we can't get anything to work? It's not just a podcast. It's everything.
Starting point is 00:38:50 I don't listen to a lot of shows, but very rarely am I listening to something, and I'm like, well, I guess it's just out for 10 minutes. I'll sit here and work for it to come back on, but that happens to us. It happens. Have you ever, did you ever once turn on a radio show and go, you know what? There is an alien. speaking during this show. But ours, it happens weekly. Why?
Starting point is 00:39:13 I don't know. You know, Lexington just moved into a new building, so new equipment. Louisville just moved into a new building, new equipment, yet it still doesn't work the way it's supposed to. It's, it'll make me upset if I think about it. Now, Bill Nye said the Northern Lights did something to our electronics. Could this be the fake Northern Lights? Maybe. Yeah, but it only affects our show. You can turn on any other show, and it sounds good.
Starting point is 00:39:36 but on our show, then the Northern Lights, which didn't even happen, we'll all just screw it up. Who's next? You're somebody who'll calm you down. Bob and Jamestown. Oh, thank you, Shannon. I really appreciate it. That's exactly who we needed to be the next caller.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Go Bob in Jamestown. Matt, I had a cap and gown kindergarten graduation in 1960 at Anchorage School. I mean, Mrs. Bailey's, it was that. And, you know, Anchorage School was built in 1911. It's still there. buzzer. They love it. I'm glad.
Starting point is 00:40:11 I'm glad you went to school and anything else, Bob. You already got buzzed. Okay. Wow. You know what? I'll tell you what. Let's take a break. Maybe this will work.
Starting point is 00:40:25 And the next ad is very, very on topic. Back by popular demand. The Kentucky Chamber 4th Annual Women's Summit. Nice. June 26th at the Central Bank in downtown Lexington. Starting point is 00:44:18 Did you get people tell you to it? I don't know. It's on 790 now. They're telling me it's only on WLAP. Well, that's how most people listen on streaming. For people who don't know, we do have another one. WKRD, if you ever, if LAPs not work and you can only check that, 790 in Louisville.
Starting point is 00:44:34 And there's one in Somerset, too, which is, I think, 12. 1240. But still. I'll have to chase my shows around, not knowing where they're going to stay. But one thing you really want you to do. is to make your listeners have to do work in order to get it to work. That's really, that's what you want. Schools are almost out, but the deals are just getting started at Don Franklin Auto.
Starting point is 00:44:51 Head on into your local dealership or steer your way over to Don Franklin Auto.com. The largest inventory of new, used, and pre-owned vehicles, it's at don Franklin Auto.com. I want to read you something. So remember I told you the guy that was on wrestlers, cash flow? Yes. Remember I told him, told you he was going to be on. If you didn't hear the story, Sylvester Stallone. watched him on wrestlers
Starting point is 00:45:14 called and called him and said I love the show I want you to be on my newest show How cool is that man Tulsa King That's awesome Which is unbelievable
Starting point is 00:45:26 This is a guy who spent 20 years Plus years of his life Pursuing his dream He's 46 years old And finally And Sylvester Stallone just calls him And he's like, hello? And he says this is Sylvester Stallone
Starting point is 00:45:40 I love you on wrestlers, second season of Tulsa King, I have a part and it's perfect for you. Would you like to do it? And now he's spending the summer in Oklahoma and Atlanta shooting this show. How awesome is that? I now have some details on his character. Okay. Cashflow will play the character of Bigfoot.
Starting point is 00:46:03 Bigfoot. A grizzled bear of a man with a soft side who works to help Sylvester Stallone and his crew. Perfect. So your guess that cash flow was going to be a leading man, not the case, true. He's not going to be the love interest, but he is going to be Bigfoot, a bear of a man with a heart of gold. Still holding out hope for a love scene, but I like that they capture cash flow because that's what he is. He is a big, intimidating man with a big heart. Have you heard from him?
Starting point is 00:46:35 Is he loving it? I think Shannon, he's a little bored because at night I get text messages from him. Hey man, what's going on? I talked to him a few weeks ago. He is loving it. No, I mean, I think he loves it. I just think, you know, he has his own trailer. Oh, big time.
Starting point is 00:46:50 How about that shit in his own trailer? Yeah. Can I tell you what he told me that I thought was really cool? Yes. He said in his first scene that he was shooting with Stallone, he was kind of just, you know, starstruck. And Stallone could tell that. So Stallone said, all right, we're going to take a break. He said he took cash back to his trailer for like two hours and just sat there and just talk to him.
Starting point is 00:47:12 just to calm his nerves a little bit. And I thought that was so cool from somebody like Stallone to bring in cash and stop shooting just so he could, you know, make him feel more comfortable. How nice is that? That's pretty cool. So that's cool. Can I tell you another nice story before we go to the phone? Yes.
Starting point is 00:47:29 I was going to say this yesterday, but I wanted to take a day because I wanted to make sure to say, I want to tell you a quick story about my parents at the graduation. My mom told this at the end and it's worth sharing. A lot of you know that right after COVID, just like right after it happened, a couple weeks later, my dad fell. Yeah. And we didn't know if he was going to make it. And, you know, it was an awful time because you couldn't get into the hospitals. And so he had to have this surgery, this surgery on his head to relieve the blood from the fall.
Starting point is 00:48:07 And we were not allowed to go see him before. And they said this is a very dangerous surgery. but we couldn't go in because of what was happening. So we had to talk to him on the phone, which, as you could guess, was a very emotional conversation. And my dad became emotional talking to my mom, and he said, you know what makes me the saddest is that I could pass and not get to see you graduate.
Starting point is 00:48:38 Oh. So part of the reason that weekend was so special, is he made it through that and is doing better than we would have ever imagined and got to fly down there and go and be there. And my mom told that story at the lunch, which was very sweet. But that was. Wow. I mean, think about that. Where we were four years ago.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Yeah. Where he said that and, you know, a lot of, we weren't sure that he was going to make it. I knew you would appreciate that. Dude, we can tell this. You were scared. You were really scared. That was a scary time for you and your mom and your life. I mean, I really thought he might not.
Starting point is 00:49:16 I mean, it was, and the doctor said that, but what was so sad is we had to sit outside. My dad had this, you know, life-threatening surgery. My mom and I had to sit in the parking lot in different cars. That's right. You know, because I didn't want to make her sick in case, in case, like we were sitting in different cars. What, you know, because we didn't know. Four years later, he's not just attending a graduation. It's flying to Dallas, getting around.
Starting point is 00:49:42 Unfortunately, there's been some truff times. in that traveling but uh got to make a whole trip and be there for unless you said he's he's doing well so i just goes to show like again as we said with the with the sadness of a couple days ago enjoy the days and enjoy moments like that i'm giving people a hard time about graduation but if that's yeah everything's a moment right so who's up now preschool graduation bill bill go ahead bill hey matt how are you good yeah wife and i were in lexington this past weekend got to come by the Kassar Bar and Grill and have dinner. Really enjoyed it.
Starting point is 00:50:15 Nice setup you guys got there. Thank you very much. On Friday, the guys were talking about when Calipari came back. And I don't know if they remember this or not, but when Fatino came back, the crowd was loaded for Bear and he ended up coming in from the Kentucky side rather than the Louisville side, which all of a sudden he was just there at the bench and nobody saw him walk in. Yes. So if Cal is looking for a way to diffuse the situation, you might want to take a page out of Rick's book.
Starting point is 00:50:47 I don't know what I'll do. It's a great question. I mean, I remember that because everybody was wanting to see him walk in. Of course, he had gone to Louisville, which was our arch rival. And, you know, so it's a little bit different, but it'll be interesting to see what he decides to do. Well, and, you know, and the other thing is this, you know, when Tubby was let go, or when tubby left, I should say, you know, I think, deep down people were hoping Rick would come back. I know I was.
Starting point is 00:51:14 And then to go to Louisville of all places, I mean, you know, that, you know, talk about, you know, your analogy about, you know, leaving your wife for another woman. You know, in this case, it's, you know, leaving your wife for, you know, a family member. I mean, it's not just a family, no, like. An enemy, yeah. Yeah, an enemy. It was like leaving for an enemy. So I agree. He'll be fascinating.
Starting point is 00:51:40 And I appreciate the call. We'll have plenty of time to talk about it, but it will be fascinating to see how that day plays out. Do you think that's the most expensive ticket in Rupp since when? Can't think of one. That'll be a hot ticket. It'll be the top. It'll top at all.
Starting point is 00:51:59 It'll be even the nosebleed seats will be extremely high to get in. You want to be in the arena for that game. I was in the arena for the Patino game. I was too. And it was. The environment there. I always said that's the best. pregame environment I've ever been in at Rupp Arena, just that anticipation of Patino
Starting point is 00:52:17 walking back out on that floor. Then like the guy said, then he came out to Kentucky Tunnel, not the visitor's tunnel. And all the media was down there with their cameras waiting to get him to come out, and he sneaks out of the Kentucky entrance. I think it'll be fascinating. Bluegrass Home Center's open in London.
