Starting point is 00:01:14 We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue 42. A rep. My mama want you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:01:30 What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifford Show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now, here's Matt Jones. All right, good morning, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,
Starting point is 00:02:21 and welcome to this Thursday edition of Kentucky Sports Radio. It is Thursday, May 30th. Ryan Lemon, Drew Franklin, and Shannon the dude. Little Billy's going to join us today on today's show. He's on his en route over from the pre-show right now. You know, he's worn out after doing the pre-show. It takes him a little time to get here. He's going to be working triple time today.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Normally he puts that one hour in. He's done. Now he's got to do three hours. Triple time for Little Billy. Y'all hold him. Shannon does it every day. How long does Billy need? Shannon's a rock star, that's why.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Kentucky Sports Radio sponsored, as always, by the T. T.J. Smith Law Office called T. What happens, Shannon? He'll make them pay. He'll make them pay. We'll have our Whiskey Thief Song of the Day. We'll have our Kentucky branded call of the day that we keep forgetting to do. But we'll make, we'll do three of them today then.
Starting point is 00:03:04 And our A-Vision Glass text machine, I've got it. I've not got it unlocked yet, but the number is, I'm not going to look. 502-735-3680. That's our A-Vision-glass text machine. We'll get to that. It's been really good. I'm glad they did that so we can have a little text-machine number while Matt is on the break. Matt took off yesterday.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Not sure where he is as of today, but he was flying to Rome. He may have, I don't know, maybe he flew all day. Hope he's in Rome. Hope he's in Rome. Hope all is going well. and hope he has a great trip. Yeah, a little jealous. He's over in Rome while we're here, KS. Barr.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Nice day at KS. Barr, though. I'm not too mad that I'm here. Very true, yeah. Was it Day 3 of the Ron Limit experience? Here we go, day three. I mean to ask you earlier in the week, you know, he said he does five, you know, websites for research. Are you hitting those five?
Starting point is 00:03:51 I'm hitting probably more than five. Well, what were they? They were KSR. KSR. I do, I still do L-EX-18 and K-YT. Well, what were math? That's five. He did KSR, the Herald Leader. Harold Leader. I did subscribe to Harold Leader.
Starting point is 00:04:05 ESPN. Oh, you did? Oh, yeah. ESPN. The SPN. Huffington Post. And Barstool. I get Daily Mail.
Starting point is 00:04:12 I get stories from Daily Mail. Daily Mail. Now, is that from the UK? Like, United Kingdom? I don't know. Yeah, he's international. Yoker Girl sends me all these stories from Daily Mail. That's British.
Starting point is 00:04:25 British Daily Mail. Well, like Drew said, it's a great day here at KS Bar and Grill. It's an awesome day. but get ready for traffic Armageddon in the city of Lexington for the next four days. High school graduations are starting right now. Lafayette is graduating right now, and Drew, you said the traffic was ridiculous trying to get through downtown. One way. Come in this direction by Rupp, it was fine.
Starting point is 00:04:50 They got to figure out that left turn from Broadway going toward Rupp Arena. It looked pretty nasty for anyone heading towards downtown from Broadway-Herers-Berg Road. But, yeah, we see it every year. When the graduations happen, downtown becomes a mess. And I guess this is the first one of several. I don't know. I don't keep up with these things. Yeah, Lafayette's at 10, Dunbar at 2, Tate's Creek at 6.
Starting point is 00:05:11 So they get them in, get them out. If you're going, add 30 minutes, whatever, to whatever time you're planning to leave. So at about 12, 12.30, all the Lafayette people are going to be leaving Rupp, and all the Dumbar people are going to be trying to get to Rup. All right. So I'm certainly not going that way home. Do not go that way home. It gets worse tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Drew Franklin. Okay. We're here again tomorrow. Frederick Douglass at 10. Brian Station at 2. Henry Clay at 6. And oh yeah, the UK baseball games at noon. And oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:41 All the railroad people will be coming in because it starts on Saturday. We're going to have a fun little pepper out here tomorrow I'm excited about if we can all get here with the traffic. Now that is going to be cool. We're going to do our show here tomorrow morning from 10 to 12 like a UK football pregame show. Maybe do it outside. Like you had a good idea about maybe doing it outside. And then the game starts. starts at 12 where we're going to have a watch party, but we're going to open the doors to the restaurant at 10 a.m.
Starting point is 00:06:06 We're opening an hour early, so when we start the show, boom, place will be open. Thank you to our wonderful servers and cooks and everyone coming in an hour early after their Thursday night. Make sure everyone's ready to be served before the game. Have a little watch party then for the game afterwards? The game is kicking us off at 1145, so they can get over to Darren and the official pregame. That is true. On WLAP, WKRD will be kicked off for the last 50 minutes of KSR. All right, it's for a bigger cause than KSR.
Starting point is 00:06:32 It's NCAA postseason baseball. So did you get your transportation logistics worked out? I'm still working on it. You know, I'm kind of more of a, let's just, we'll figure it out as we go, I'll get there. Maybe a scooter. Scooter's not out of the question. Scooter actually could be a great idea. Chris, who calls the show.
Starting point is 00:06:48 Yes. We hear from Chris a lot. He offered to drive me. Chris is a friend of mine. Might do that. We'll see. Your personal Uber driver. Yeah, I don't want to make Chris do that, but we'll see.
Starting point is 00:06:55 It was nice to offer. We'll get over there, though. I'm not going to miss much. You're staying here to keep the party going. here and have lunch and watch the game here for it's part of our watch party. I think not only will there be a great crowd at Kentucky Proud Park, I think there'll be a great crowd here of people watching the game. Yeah, especially maybe heading over come by first.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Today at 9 a.m. is when the tickets went on sale if you're just trying to buy a single game. Earlier in the week was buying the all session. I told you I didn't have a lot of luck there. Lucked in some friends helped me out. But today was if you just want the singles. And I was just looking. I don't know how quickly they're gone or if they're even left. but there were some still general missions for tomorrow and then on through the weekend.
Starting point is 00:07:33 So if you don't mind taking your own chair, it looks like you can still get in the building. So, Shannon, so tomorrow at 1145, if people want to hear the last 15 minutes of the show, we need to check out that I heart stream out of Somerset again, right? Yes, that is 1240 a.m. WSFC, I think it is. I think that's right. I'm just happy this baseball team is getting the attention they deserve, and you guys are doing that. Pep rally out there should be a lot of fun. So come out early, do your pre-gaming stuff, head on over to the game if you get tickets.
Starting point is 00:08:04 If not, just hang out at the bar all day and watch the games. I think a lot of people will come here when we open at 10, stay for an hour, and then go to Kentucky Proud Park. You know, it would be like the football tailgate pre-games people do. Yeah. Can we put you through a table to get the energy up like we did years ago? If Cash Daniel wants to come around and throw me through a table, that helps get everybody fired up? I think it would be more appropriate maybe to hit you with a baseball bat, you know, like break a road. That's true.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Like Sting or something, you know? You probably saw worldwide Todd Harris already has his tailgating trailer parked over by Kentucky Proud Park. I'm going. Setting up for tomorrow. Yeah, he's doing a Saturday telltons. He can't do tomorrow. Because Leighton graduates tomorrow. Frederick Doug's graduation.
Starting point is 00:08:42 Late in future UK baseball. Yes. Hopefully star. Shannon mentioned the park. Even though it's, we call it new, it's five years old now, right, 2019. With COVID and everything, it's just now hitting its stride. You're right. It's to be.
Starting point is 00:08:57 You know, it got the postseason last year. year. I'm not at every game, so I don't want to speak for the experience throughout the whole season. But I kind of felt like Kentucky Proud Parks coming out party. We're here hosting the regional. Now they've added those left field bleachers. I'm ready to see it again. So it'll be a lot of the action tomorrow. Again, if you're coming into town, give yourself a lot of extra time and do not drive through downtown. That's just the best advice we can get. Unless you're going to graduation. Unless you're going to graduation, do not drive to downtown. Drive here to KS. Bar. Now, before we move on, there are still some.
Starting point is 00:09:28 parking spots available here for Railbird. I tweeted out the link again this morning. We've got less than 10 spots available for Saturday and less than 10 spots available for Sunday. So that could save you a lot of headache and heartache if you want to just go ahead and take advantage of that, what we have here. But we will still have parking spots available if you're wanting to come to KS Bar or any of our neighboring restaurants, have lunch, hang out, watch a UK game.
Starting point is 00:09:54 You can sneak over to Railbird? That'll be a big negative. I'll be hanging out here I think most of the day watching the baseball games You're not a Chris Stapleton guy? I love Chris Stapleton. I don't have tickets is the main reason but I love Chris Stapleton, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:08 You know, maybe he might want to just pop in here for a couple cheese logs before he goes and performs. Too bad we don't have a show on Sunday. I'm sure he'd stop by and talk to us. Why not? I'm sure we would want to waste his voice. So the news of the day, obviously,
Starting point is 00:10:21 is that there's no news on Jackson Robinson. I mean, did he put? Pull Hamadu Diallo and just forgot. I don't know what he's doing. To withdraw his name from the NBA driving. What's going on, Drew? He had until 1159-59 last night to let the NBA know and college know if he's going back to school. I think everyone assumed that also meant he would let Twitter know,
Starting point is 00:10:46 which is why Kentucky fans, myself included, were hitting refresh all day. But it got to the midnight hour with zero news publicly, and now it is 10, 12 a.m. the next day. And as far as I know, there's still no news. So there's lots of ways you can look at it. You can look at it as he just stayed in the draft. It didn't feel like telling anyone. You can look at it as maybe you'll have a big surprise announcement today.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Who knows, really? No one knows. That's the point. We thought we would have our answer. We even said over the week, everything will be clear Thursday morning, and it is not clear. He left us all hanging last night. I guess, Shannon, there's two trains of thought. One, like Drew said, he left his name in the draft and kept it to himself
Starting point is 00:11:26 because maybe he didn't want to hear the book. backlash of fans like, why are you doing? You're crazy. You should go back to the U.K. or go to back to B. Whatever. And if you're staying in the draft, you don't have to do anything. You're just in the draft. That's right. Deadline meant nothing.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Deadline meant nothing. But if he pulled his name out of the draft, the train of thought is, well, maybe he's trying to go ahead and work out the n ideal of the school he picked before he announces where he's going. You know, maybe there's some negotiations going on this morning. Then there's the third train of thought, which is mine is this is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on me, me, me, me, me, and that's what a it is right now because that's what we're talking about.
Starting point is 00:11:59 So I don't know. Yeah, I guess if he did stay in the draft, he doesn't technically have to say, well, he doesn't have to say anything regardless, but maybe his thought is he's going to stay in the draft and there's nothing to say. But he knows that everybody wants to know his decision. It's not like he's oblivious to that fact. So if he is coming back to college and he hasn't said anything, I don't know. I don't know the kid.
Starting point is 00:12:22 I can't say that it's, you know, him just trying to make it all about himself. but it feels that way, in my opinion. It seems like somebody connected with the draft and the NBA would have leaked it out to somebody. That's the thing. I mean, agents, people talk. Even if it's not his agent, another agent finds out they put it out. So it's a little surprising something didn't leak if he made a move.
Starting point is 00:12:45 Exactly. Like I said, you would think these kids have to know how many people are watching them. I hit refresh so many times yesterday. I was on KS board. I fell asleep at 10 o'clock with my computer in my lap. I woke up and it was after midnight, and I didn't know if anything had happened yet. So it was a long day for Kentucky fans. You think these, or any fans, BYU fans, you think these kids might,
Starting point is 00:13:08 they have to know so many people are waiting. Oh, yeah. So to just do nothing, that was a bit odd, but, you know, that's his life. We'll see what happens today. Or maybe not see what happens today. That's what's wild about it. There was no way I was going to stay up again like we did for Hamadu Diallo. It just wasn't.
Starting point is 00:13:21 And I'm glad I did now because since nothing happened. So, yeah, you get up first thing this morning. You grab your phone, you look, did it happen? What? Nothing happened? And here we are starting to show at 10 o'clock this morning, and still nothing has come out. Diallo missed the deadline, but he put out a tweet,
Starting point is 00:13:34 so he at least let fans know his Twitter followers, but he didn't do the paperwork. If I'm not mistaken, the NBA even kind of gave him a little grace. Like, well, you announced it. You know, you're a little late with the paperwork. We'll let it count. But there wasn't a peep anywhere from Robinson. So here we are.
Starting point is 00:13:50 All right, so what do we do now? We just sit and wait? We is in Drew Franklin and Ryan Lemon and Billy our sports walking in. We just keep searching his name on Twitter, waiting for a text to pop up, waiting for any piece of news. If you're Pope, hopefully you have a pretty good idea behind the scenes. And if he's not coming, we keep mentioning the Wuga Poplar Miami guy. He pulled his name out of the draft.
Starting point is 00:14:14 So he's floating around out there. He intends to visit Kentucky. I think he's visiting Oregon coming up. So, I mean, you got some backup plans. But as far as what we do with Jackson Robinson, we're all just looking at each other, wondering why there's not news yet. Kobe Braia did pull his name out of the draft and reconfirmed his commitment to Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:14:30 That news did come out yesterday. It was the fourth one to do such. And to be honest, I didn't even know he was in the draft pool, but good for him to test the waters, kind of figure out how maybe it'll help him for next year, the draft. But if Jackson Robinson does not come to Kentucky, that kid, Kobe Brea may end up being the leading score. So at least we got one out of two yesterday. Bray is going to light it up.
Starting point is 00:14:51 You still want to add another one. We've said that all along, and we like Robinson because is the continuity with Pope going back to BYU. I'd take Poplar at this point. I mean, I would have taken Lanier if he were ready a week ago. It's just I want to get one more piece done and move on because it's been a long wait for this last spot, maybe another one after that. So the Jackson Robinson Watch continues another day. We thought it was going to, it was over yesterday. One more day of the Jackson Robinson Watch.
Starting point is 00:15:16 And if he's in Utah, he's probably sleeping. What is it? That's true. It's still early in the morning. Maybe that's why we haven't heard anything yet. I kept making that excuse last night. I was like, well, it's 9 o'clock here. Maybe he's eating dinner.
Starting point is 00:15:25 Here we are. Still nothing. Ryan, Drew and Shannon, Billy, our sports is getting ready to join us. We'll take our break, come back. A lot of news from Louisville yesterday involving the Scotty Schaeffler incident. We'll hit that, and then we'll go to our phone lines. 859-280-287. That's 859-280 Cats.
Starting point is 00:15:41 We'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Starting point is 00:15:58 controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves. From viral moments to historic games, from
Starting point is 00:16:13 buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Starting point is 00:16:34 Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing
Starting point is 00:16:59 and we're still chasing it and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid?
Starting point is 00:17:14 Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. a good person. Join me, Keir Games, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new
Starting point is 00:17:28 podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. What's up, guys? This is Clever-Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee.
Starting point is 00:17:44 We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, A, ref. want you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office blue of 42. Hey, Red. My mama want you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:18:00 What? Hey, Ms. Parker. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. No news is right. On the Jackson Robinson front, if we wait, the Jackson Robinson watch continues. Ryan Lim and Drew Franklin, Shannon, the dude, joined by Billy R. sports for this segment did you come through downtown is the traffic still ridiculous it's a mess it is an absolute mess right now so uh steer clear of downtown yeah glad to be joining you guys
Starting point is 00:18:33 three hours of radio is a lot so shannon does it every day a lot of radio shenan does i do i do let's see seven hours of radio a day shannon gets carried on the pre-show and then he's the producer for the assr so let's all calm down carried all right a lot of news out of louisville yesterday we had to get to it so bill i'm glad you're here because you're a resident golfer like Drew. Scotty Sheffler was cleared of all charges, including second degree assault of an officer yesterday in Louisville. Before we go any further, I think we probably all agree maybe the best thing overall for
Starting point is 00:19:06 Sheffler and for the city of Louisville. Drew, what do you think? What would your takeaway from it? Yeah, I mean, me who has no part of it was ready to move on just as a fan because any time it was brought up, I would get on the internet and it was just Louisville being made fun of of everywhere you look. I mean, I like to pick fun of the Louisville Cardinals, but I don't like when the whole golf community is dunking on Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:19:24 So I'm just glad they're moving on. It seemed both sides were good with it. I learned what it means to dismiss something with prejudice yesterday, Ryan. I got to admit had to Google that a little bit. What we need Matt? It means it can't come back. It's done forever. They added that at the end of it.
Starting point is 00:19:41 So both sides agreed. We're dropping it. It's over. I'm sure we will have the clip dialed up. But I enjoyed hearing for our boy, our boy, Romance. I think that was the big takeaway. But just with the Sheffler, Detective Gillis thing, it seems both them wanted to be over and it will hopefully be over now that they dropped it yesterday. Billy?
Starting point is 00:19:59 Yeah, I thought this was going to be the natural conclusion. That's why the prosecution not wanting the delay of the arraignment with I thought was so strange. And then, you know, when we got the video that, you know, obviously there was an incident before what we saw in the video. But that just felt like it was completely different than what the officer was saying. So I think we were all headed for this conclusion. but it did end a little interestingly yesterday. Shannon? Yeah, I mean, I think this is the thing that we all thought was going to happen.
Starting point is 00:20:26 Just happened a little bit later than what we, I think, intended, or, you know, originally thought was going to happen and what should have happened. So I just love the statement that came out from the detective, which we'll read here in just a minute. But, yeah, I'm glad that we can all finally put this behind us. Okay, so Jefferson County Attorney's Office filed a motion to dismiss the case admitting his claim that it was simply all big, one big misunderstanding, and now crook, by evidence. Well, then, after they walk out of the courthouse, then it blew up again.
Starting point is 00:20:56 We like Steve Romines. He's been on this show many, many times. He's hosted... Love Romines. Hosted, Hey, Kentucky. Played golf of him. This is, the first voice you're going to hear in this clip is Lentalia Martinez. He's a reporter for Wave 3 News.
Starting point is 00:21:10 She's the female voice, and then the male voice is Rominds you're going to hear. We have to play this clip because this is what everybody was talking about. So go ahead, Shannon. No, here's what happens, is he is. being interrogated after the most stressful situation of his life. Right? And the officer is actually asking him leading questions and trying to get him to agree with them. Okay? And that's why you don't talk to the police because they are going to try to put words in your mouth. And that's exactly what they did.
Starting point is 00:21:50 No. Of course. He didn't have to speak. But again, he asked to talk to the officer. He wanted to explain. wanted to explain to him what happened. However, they are trying to get him to confess to something that he didn't do. And the video evidence shows he didn't do it. So what do you think after you hear that, Drew? First, Natalia Martinez was made?
Starting point is 00:22:18 We need more of her out there. She wasn't giving up with her questions. She just kept firing. Let's get her at the White House and start asking some serious questions. But also, Roman's not backing down. Back and down either. I love Robine. That's kind of, I mean, you hear of the personality has in the courtroom.
Starting point is 00:22:32 I think we got a little taste of that right there with him standing up for Schaeffler. But certainly a heated back and forth there. It's another thing that went viral. I think part of it is, I mean, the message is the big thing there and him kind of standing off with the reporter. But it added to it with his southern draw. There is a lot of the reason that was all over the Internet yesterday. But there was more after that. Then Officer Mills, Officer Gillis, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:22:57 issued a statement. So I got to read his statement. We got to be fair. Read his statement. A tragic incident occurred and the family of Mr. Mills remains in my family's thoughts and prayers. He's the gentleman that died in the traffic accident. This was a chaotic situation for everyone involved. Ensuring the
Starting point is 00:23:13 safety of everyone in the vicinity was my utmost priority. Mr. Schaeffler and I both agree that there will be no ill will over this going forward. Instead of giving a negative public reaction, he chose to speak with dignity, humility, and respect. My family and I appreciate that. And then there's the PS, Shannon. Would you like to share us the PS? Yes, and there's one other
Starting point is 00:23:34 part of this I want to read too. Go for it. But the PS, yes, says yes, the department has us buying freaking $80 pants. To those concerned, they were indeed ruined. But Scotty, it's all good. I never would have guessed that I'd be, that I'd have the most famous pair of pants in the country for a few weeks because of this. Take care of be safe. Officer Gillis. So there you have it. And then the other part was, to be clear, he says, to be clear, I was drugged by the car, which I said in the pre-show, you were dragged, you weren't drugged, I went to the ground, I received visible injuries to my knees and wrist, I'm going to recover from it, and it will be okay. Like, you didn't get ran over by the car, dude. You got dragged a few feet.
Starting point is 00:24:14 I like that. He's like, oh, I'm going to be okay. I'm going to recover. I think he put that in there to try to convince people, hey, this did happen. You know, I didn't make this up. This did happen. What was your takeaway, Billy? I thought it was the icing on the cake of the embarrassment this has been for the city of Louisville. I could not believe the PS at the end of that statement. I could not. I thought that was fake, honestly. To say that the department does buy freaking $80 pants.
Starting point is 00:24:39 When the world is watching the city of Louisville, that's what you put in your statement. I thought it was an embarrassment, and we've used that word way too many times with this situation. The PS saved me. I like this PS. I like that he said freaking $80 pants. He didn't want to buy the $80 pants. either. I feel like he's almost cry for help there. Like they're making us buy these
Starting point is 00:24:58 $80 pants. Also it's like a very formal statement that it feels like he just got it at the end and just wrote and penned his thoughts. See that's what I thought. His attorney and him constructed the first part of the statement and after the attorney walked away he typed in the PS
Starting point is 00:25:14 by the way my freaking pants ripped and you know. But isn't that childish? I mean this is a very serious situation and he's making a joke out of it. I mean you're naive to think that people in power don't abuse their power sometimes. There are a lot of great cops throughout the country and in the LMPD. But for him to add that little jab at the end, I thought was unnecessary and embarrassing.
Starting point is 00:25:35 I thought he had to defend himself because thousands of people have made fun of him in his pants, and he's just had to sit there. Whatever side you're on, whether he's wrong or not, I can see why he would want to defend himself when he probably cannot open the internet and not see someone making fun of that situation in his $80 pants what was going on. Did Scott? You're a lot to pay for those $80 pants. That should be the punishment right there.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Pay for his pants. You know, and I think Scottie Shephyr's got $80. Get his pants size. I'd say Nike could probably get him as many pairs of pants as he means. Take care of it. Get the man his pants and let's move on. Because I did like how they both, Schepler and the officer both were like, okay, look, it's over.
Starting point is 00:26:11 Let's put it behind us and let's move on. There's a little bit of fan boy in at the end, too. He went from not knowing Shepler on the scene to kind of like, me and Scotty, you know, take care. We're bros now. Well, Scotty also saving. Taxpayers money here in Louisville deciding not to sue. It's true.
Starting point is 00:26:27 I think that's another indication they just want to put all this behind us. You know, as Sheffert was supposed to appear next week, right? I mean, he was going to have to appear. So they got this settled to take care of all that, so they'd have to miss any time off the golf course. That's Memorial next week. And so, you know, I'm sure there was a little sense of urgency on everybody's part. They're in Canada this week. He should have had court this week.
Starting point is 00:26:45 He's off this week. Yeah. Yeah, we got a tweet from Josh Teeter. Josh Teeter's not off. He's teeing off today. He's teeing off today up in Canada. Listen to the KSR podcast practicing for the RBC Canadian up there. We're wishing to eat or luck.
Starting point is 00:26:58 So I guess if we look ahead, does the Valhole get another event after the way it kind of played out? Eventually, but a major, it may take a long time. All right, well, take our break, come back. Ryan, Drew, Shannon, and Billy R. Sports here on Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Starting point is 00:28:09 And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit, suit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't
Starting point is 00:28:25 realize that we are in possession of the thing and we're still chasing it and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on
Starting point is 00:28:41 earth or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me. Kier Gains is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee.
Starting point is 00:29:13 We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, Brett. My mama want you to weigh better. What? Where's he at?
Starting point is 00:29:34 Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Cliverts show on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Morgan. Here's Matt Jones. Ryan, Drew, Shannon, Billy, R Sports here, Connecticut Sports Radio, before we go to the phone lines,
Starting point is 00:29:57 859-280-2287. Got a couple people on hold we want to get to real quick. Got to read a couple from the A-Vision Glass text machine, which is the new numbers, 502-735-3680. Can someone start a Go-FundMe to replace this officer's pants? And then the very next one is, I'll donate a buck to a Go-FundMe for a new
Starting point is 00:30:16 pair of pants. We can probably raise that in an hour. Well, 15 minutes, probably to get the guy $80 worth of pants. But then there's a better idea. The cop should put the pants on eBay. Oh, he would get more than $80. Especially if he'd get Shuffler's on him. I don't know if he'd do it, but you get Shephler's signature on those pants.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Actually, that's the call right there. Do it for charity. Doing it for a charity. Have you signed those pants? I like that idea. Scott, he's a nice enough guy. Maybe if you approach him in the right way, he would do it. And that's what Drew knows a lot of people in the golf world.
Starting point is 00:30:48 And they all talk about he's, of all people, He's the nicest guy, the one that everybody likes, that this happened to. Really? I mean, I'm not saying anything about what happened to this particular incident. What I was saying that day is to wake up to a mugshot. If you would say anyone in sports, who's the last person you'd think would have a mugshot, I would probably say Scotty Schaeffler. Yeah, and now looking back, you know, the fact that he was taken downtown and putting that orange jumpsuit in the picture,
Starting point is 00:31:14 it's not only surreal, but you've got to think if it should have even ever gotten to that point. It's going to follow him forever. I mean, the golfers have come out. There's a group chat with, like, a lot of the top golfers, and they've changed the picture of their group chat to the muck shot. That thing is going to be with him forever, which makes it so silly to people that know him a little bit. Like, that's not a guy you'd think would ever be in a mugshot. 859-280-287.
Starting point is 00:31:36 That's our phone number. Who's our first caller today, Shannon? Brady. Brady. Hey, Ryan. How are you all doing today? All right, Brady, what's up? Oh, nothing.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Just weeding. Pep, farm. So just wondering if Robinson does not come, and Poplar is like somehow off the board, who would be the next guy after that? Well, I appreciate it, Brady. I mean, there's that Will Riley, I guess. Name is still out there that may re-classify option.
Starting point is 00:32:11 That's an option, I think, that is on the table if Robinson doesn't come to Kentucky, and they don't get Poplar. I think that's still an option. If there's there anything else after that? I mean, you're asking me for option four. At that point, I don't want to be an option four. There's the Brazil guy that was at Arkansas last year.
Starting point is 00:32:30 I guess he could be an option. But really, I don't want to get that far down the list to where we have to worry about who's after Will Rowley, who's in high school right now. Hopefully it's Jackson, and if it's not Jackson, maybe you can convince Poplar on his visit. Billy, we didn't get your take on the whole Jackson-Robinson thing. You were stuck in traffic trying to get here. Yeah. I mean, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:32:49 Maybe there's a secretary at the NBA office that could break some news today because, I mean, a decision had to be made. It's just a matter of him making it public, right? So I don't know if it's the Shan the dude, me, me, me, everybody wait for my decision. But all these kids were waiting until the last second to do this. So it's just nice to see a little procrastination is still alive in those guys. There's nothing wrong with Robinson testing the waters because he's a potential NBA guy at some point.
Starting point is 00:33:15 but if all projections didn't even have him drafted, it seemed like the answer is pretty obvious. So that's why I'm leaning towards he's working out his NIL deal with these schools right now, and then he'll announce everything at once. Yeah, I don't know why Robinson had done it, but the reason they all wait until yesterday is so they can do all these private workouts with teams
Starting point is 00:33:34 and get every ounce of feedback until they close that door and they're not allowed to do that anymore. That doesn't explain while Robinson waited until after midnight, but everyone else we saw so many at once. it's because they can have all those conversations up until that last minute, then they're back in college. Literally every other player somehow figured a way to make it work except for him. So, I mean, all these other players were dealing with the same issues.
Starting point is 00:33:57 It's just interesting that it's taking him this long to announce it. We're going to look like a bunch of idiots. If he just does an interview in a few days, like, I'm in the draft. I've been in the draft since April. What do you all want for you? What do you need an announcement? I'm in the draft. That's possible.
Starting point is 00:34:09 That's very possible. We don't want that. But, I mean, that could be the case because he doesn't OS anything. Okay, so do we hear anything today? What's your guys' prediction? I'm going to say yes. By the end of the day, it'll leak out. Somebody will have the info.
Starting point is 00:34:22 And the pressure is going to mount up so much as we go throughout the day. We're going to figure it out by the end of the day. I think some national rider that covers the NBA draft or the NBA leaks it out. I'm holding out hope, and I don't know anything about this. This is just me being an optimistic fan trying to find some light in this, that it's done with Kentucky, and they're, saving a little boom this afternoon or something. They didn't want to do it at midnight. They're kind of going to make it in a little bit of event today.
Starting point is 00:34:51 But you don't want to wait too long if that's the case because it is almost 11 a a.m. the day after the deadline. I like that a Cody Feger boom is how we learn of this information. Oh, that's a good idea. Yes. That's the optimistic opinion. I'm not saying that's the most likely, but as a Kentucky fan, I hope that's what's happening. Who's next, Shannon? Let's go to Damon. Damon. Damon. Go ahead, Damon. Hey, fellas, good morning.
Starting point is 00:35:14 Good morning. Good morning. I want to say, how cool would it be if Jackson Robinson throws out the first pitch tomorrow, and that's how we find out. Oh, now that is pretty cool. If he just... That would be sweet. Nobody knows he's there, and they announce his name thought the first pitch, and he walks out there in a U.K. hat. That's actually a pretty cool move.
Starting point is 00:35:33 I would love that. That would be awesome. That's all I wanted to say, fellas. I have a great time. There's no way they could keep that quiet in this day and age, though, with everybody with the phone. and there's no way. And we can't wait another 25 hours for information. B.B.N. will lose it. We're already losing it a little bit.
Starting point is 00:35:51 I mean, we've watched doors in the past. Oh, right? I'll watch a door again. So somebody would take a picture of him on his way to Kentucky Proud Park. There's no doubt about it. Someone is hacking into the cloud into his email to see any correspondence with the NBA last night. That's how crazy we are. Someone's going to do some digging and find out what actually happened.
Starting point is 00:36:10 Well, somebody on the A Vision Glass Text, machine said, isn't there a list the NBA would have of everybody that's currently in the draft, that that could be accessible? I don't know if it's updated daily. Maybe after the deadline they'll send one out. I don't know that they will. That would be helpful. That they would send it to, I guess, all the teams will need to know who is available in the draft.
Starting point is 00:36:30 But none of this matters to the NBA. They don't, like this deadline, no one in the NBA cares. It's just for people going back to college and college fans. So if you're in the NBA dealing with the draft, this has nothing to do with you. It's just if anyone that intended to step out and wanted to keep their eligibility. 859-2-802-287. Who's next, Shannon? Sam.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Sam. Go ahead, Sam. Good morning, Sam. Nice. Thank you, man. Appreciate it. You're right. I mean, guys are in this day and aid where everything leaks. They're finding a way to kind of get around some of this, keeping it quiet.
Starting point is 00:37:36 And I think the coaches are also helping keep things quiet. That seems to be on both sides. Because if we used to always leak out from one or the other, the coach was leaking it out or the player. Now neither side's leaking stuff out. We got a little spoiled when Pope was building the first 10 pieces. I mean, we knew what these guys were eating for dinner and lunch on their visits. How many times do we see a picture of Pope at the airport helping a kid with his luggage? We were consuming every little piece of information, every little move these guys made.
Starting point is 00:38:04 We haven't had that luxury with Robinson. He's been busy with his NBA process, and he's in Utah. And he appears to be a very quiet kid. So even though we've been optimistic as Kentucky fans, a lot of it's just been speculating and hoping there hasn't been a lot of concrete things out there. And it's not just athletics, right? Do you want to go back to school? Do you want to live that lifestyle again?
Starting point is 00:38:23 Do you want to live in the team dorms? I mean, these are all things that you have to consider compared to possibly go into the NBA or G-League or whatever path that you want. You know, some guys, you're right, Billy. Like, DeMarcus actually wanted to stay because he liked this lifestyle, the collegiate lifestyle and being here in Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Other guys, you know, as soon as the season's over, they're ready to get the heck out of Dodge. But when your projection is to not be drafted or end of the second round that does make you scratch your head a little bit, right? I mean, are there any projections out there that have him drafted at all? Some at the end of the second round. I mean, he's considered like fringe second round undrafted. Like, climbing up in the first round seems very unlikely for him,
Starting point is 00:39:01 which is what you think he would want to do, and maybe he could do if he came back with another year. Let's get another one, Shannon. Who we got? Let's go to Sean. Sean, go ahead, Sean. Hey, guys, I just want to thank you for helping me get through my impatient waiting out here of Valhalla. I'm stuck out here. I wanted to weigh
Starting point is 00:39:18 on that Scottie Shepler. I know it's been settled and for him that's good. But one of the criticisms I heard was you know, Scotty should have yielded, it doesn't matter if it's a cop or if it's security. Well, I'm out here with a semi and twice yesterday I had the security
Starting point is 00:39:34 of Valhalla literally stopped me in the middle of a term blocking traffic to ask me a question. So when it comes to ignore no security, people that work, they're not professional people that do this every single day and handle traffic. So a lot of times you're going to see a guy that has to deal with that. Like I have to do in a truck.
Starting point is 00:39:56 Go ahead and pull your vehicle to a safe parking spot, then address them. And halfway through a turn, you know, on Shelbyville Road is just dangerous. And that happened to me twice at the very, very golf course that we've been talking about. So people saying he was disrespectful by not listening to him. them, maybe needs to understand that some of those times those guys just give you bad information because they're not paying attention to where you're actually at in the road. Okay.
Starting point is 00:40:23 Well, be careful out there, man. Appreciate you calling in. Be careful. And Scotty Sheppler did say that from the beginning. One person out there directing him told him to go ahead. Second person, which is Officer Gillis, says stop. And Scotty's admitted if I, you know, he should have just stopped right then and maybe this wouldn't even have gotten this far.
Starting point is 00:40:41 But he had already had permission from somebody to go ahead and probably that happens a lot at these events, man. These golfers kind of get waved ahead of everybody else because they have to get in and start warming up and start practicing for their round. Well, a lot of golfers went the exact same route he was going. Even Roman said that Colin Morikawa, one of the biggest golfers in the world.
Starting point is 00:40:58 He was the fifth place was 30 seconds in front of Schaeffler doing the exact same path. I just think there's a lot of miscommunication. Like said, one person told Scotty this. Their officer didn't know, and that's how you get where they are. And we learned that it wasn't just police directing traffic out there that morning. It was also PGA officials.
Starting point is 00:41:15 Yes. But they all had the same vests on, right? Is that what was... Fluorescent yellow vest is what in the video that was recently released was what they were telling Scott. It doesn't matter who's in that vest, you need to listen to it. But it's also dark. It's also rain. There's a lot of factors that play into this.
Starting point is 00:41:30 But, you know, like you've said, it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, and maybe they could have avoided taking him downtown if they would have just talked to him about the situation. Yeah, yeah. Well, all intents of purposes, it's over now. Charges drop, and everybody's going to try to move. forward. So dropped with prejudice, Ryan. Thank you very much.
Starting point is 00:41:46 Which means what? It means it's over. You can't come back and charge you a meeting. Legal analyst Drew Franklin. So we wouldn't even Matt for this legal stuff. All right. Well, take our break. Come back.
Starting point is 00:41:56 Go back to the phone lines. 859-2-287-8-8-0. Cats. If you're shopping for a house, you know, Drew, let's just say you're a young guy, just got engaged. You're renting right now. Maybe you're looking to possibly. I was that guy one time. Now I'm looking at one.
Starting point is 00:42:11 And now there's one right sitting right between us. maybe he should call my friends at Stockton Mortgage. Sounds like a good idea to me. During all they're great people to work with. And, you know, now's a great time to buy. Is that right? Yes, I would. I would contact Stockton.
Starting point is 00:42:21 It's easy, Billy. You can go to Stockton.com. There's a button right there. It says, get started. Started through the process. The approval process can take about 24 hours, and you want that pre-approval little before you and Marissa go out looking for the houses. That's what you want.
Starting point is 00:42:32 So give them a call. Stockton Mortgage, NMLS, A2-59 Equal Housing Lender. We'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed the game. Starting point is 00:45:01 Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Cliverts show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. All right. Welcome back. Ryan Lemon, Drew Franklin, Shannon the dude and Billy R. Sports here, Kentucky Sports Radio. From the A-Vision Glass Text Machine, got a couple things I wanted to ask you guys about. One person texted in about Shephyler's Orange Jump Suit. Could they sell that for like a charity? He could probably, I can see him signing that for charity. I think it just goes back on the next person makes their way through.
Starting point is 00:45:34 Yeah, I don't think you get to keep it. Yeah. Can you imagine him out there playing with the orange jumpsuit on? Putting his golf bag. Yeah, I don't think that's what it works. Then somebody else said there's no way he's signing the pants because the guy tried to charge him with a felony. Yeah, I don't see them coming together for much of anything. It was good enough to get them agreed to dismiss the charges on each side.
Starting point is 00:45:53 They did downgrade the felony if you saw that yesterday. Dropped all four charges, right, against him, yeah. One more from the aviation glass tech machine. Ryan, has Pope bought a house yet? I can confirm he has, but I'm not going to tell you where it is. We need to give them some privacy until it closes. And then once it closes, it'll be public records. Can you tell us with a nod or wink, did Ryan Lemon get to make the sale?
Starting point is 00:46:16 I did not. Did not. And is Calipari's old house still for sale? Has anybody bought that yet? Do we have an update? They took it off the market would make me think that maybe there's a private deal in place or something. But when it closes, then the prices will come out and then you'll find out where everything is. Yeah, Pope has bought a house.
Starting point is 00:46:36 He didn't buy Cal's old house. No, he didn't. It's odd timing. No, didn't do that. All right, 859-2-2-287. Shannon says we've got another call. Let's get that up real quick. Abby.
Starting point is 00:46:45 Abby, go ahead, Abby. Hey there. This call actually goes back to the South Carolina football game, and Ron, it's for you. Oh, boy. I wanted to share with you that I have been sucker-punched three times when I wasn't looking. And I'm a woman, so I believe you, okay? Oh, it happened. I got the x-ray of my fractured jaw to prove it happened.
Starting point is 00:47:09 Yes, I mean, people will do it when you're not looking just because sometimes, even when you're not even talking to them. Well, I hope you're okay from your getting sucker punch twice. Yeah, you know, it's just a little sore jaw, like you say, thank goodness my one broken like yours. But it doesn't like next time we need security, we need to call Abby here to work security for us. Well, I don't know if I would help. She's the one getting punched. She sounds like a magnet. She's rough.
Starting point is 00:47:37 Security. What are you talking about? So, okay, Abby, thank you very much. Appreciate it. I saw Steve Buschemy got punched in the face randomly, just walking down the streets in New York. Like it's a thing that people are doing, just randomly sucker punching.
Starting point is 00:47:52 I just don't know how anybody didn't see it when it happened to you, Ryan. Well, there were two ladies that saw it. Not Abby. Not Abby. No, Abby was there also. I know I'm not going back to South Carolina. I think I'm a one and done there. I've been no sense going back.
Starting point is 00:48:05 You're not going back because you got punched. Well, the whole environment was awesome, but the fans are really kind of nasty. Okay. We don't talk about South Carolina fans enough as being among some of the worst people in our conference. Amen. We focus on Tennessee. We make fun of the town of Starkville, but we need to include the people of South Carolina. Amen.
Starting point is 00:48:29 I was just in Greenville. I like Greenville. Beautiful part of our country. But Ryan, you don't think you're going to get punched in the face again if you go back, right? I'm not going to try. It's a random act. I'm not even going to try to go back and give it a shot. So, yeah, if Kentucky plays down there next year, not this season,
Starting point is 00:48:46 because South Carolina is here, but they go back next year, I'm not going there ever again, so one and done. Have you had any lingering effects? Every time I yawned, it would pop. But that has kind of gone away also, yeah, but for like months, it would pop when I'm going to yawn and stuff. Yeah, I really messed with your diet. Dude, I mean, I can't believe that.
Starting point is 00:49:03 I know that we're digressing, but that was just so, like, in a matter of seconds, I'm on the ground. and not even know what happened to me did that how fast everything happened really I want to know we should have kept her on the phone how is a sweet person like Abby Hey man punch three three times I don't know Maybe she's that's something we went we need her pursuit of us out Sweet person like Ryan get punched in the face too, you know That's true. Yeah, are you going to Steve Bishimi are you going to singo tonight? I can't make it to singo
Starting point is 00:49:35 We're going to singo tonight in Georgetown to preview it We're going to play it and preview singo so that we can bring it here to KS Bar once in June, once in July. Do you know what it is at all, or this is a completely you're going in. I think it's bingo, but they play music. I have played this before. It's a lot of fun. So usually it's a category, like let's say, country music. And you'll have your bingo card with a bunch of country song, names, titles on there.
Starting point is 00:50:01 And then when they play the, you hear the song, you get to cross it off on your bingo. You get the dover, you know, on your bingo card. And then you get bingo. You win a prize, something cool. Well, we're going to go play tonight, and Mario is going to meet us there to do a video, and then we'll promote it for our here in KS Bar. We're going to do bingo and singo in June and July, and our first bingo is coming up. What is?
Starting point is 00:50:25 It's next Tuesday, I believe. I'm laughing, but I love some bingo. People take it very seriously. You get that dobb or whatever you're just talking about, and you go to an actual bingo hall. We're doing bingo. You better know the rules. On Tuesday, June 4th. I mean, that's next week.
Starting point is 00:50:42 We're going to do bingo in here on Tuesday. And then we have the regular trivia on Wednesday. So, yeah, come on out and try it. We're trying something new here. It's very popular, like you guys said, so I think we have a good crowd. Are we going to get those mean old ladies at the bingo hall that yell at you if you show up and just try to play and learn a little bit about bingo? They are mean.
Starting point is 00:51:01 They take it very seriously. Don't mess with the old ladies when it comes to their bingo. Gatekeeping the great activity of bingo. That's what they do. Yeah. So next Tuesday, we'll have bingo and then singo is later in the month next week. So all right, well, take our break. Come back.
Starting point is 00:51:14 Drew, we had homework assignment. Drew gave us a homework assignment. And Drew's going to give us a winning KSR parlay for tonight. Hopefully winning. Oh, no, you're hot. You're on a hot street. We have hit two in a row. So we'll be right back.
