He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
A rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, here's Matt Jones.
Here's Myron Metcalf.
Hour 2, filling in on Mondays, Mary Mondays, we're going to call them this offseason.
We got some calls.
obviously everybody excited about the baseball, super regional.
I got a cow question.
We can get to all that.
But I want to give y'all some more Al Green insight, okay?
Because I was saying throughout the show, if you got a problem, right, fellas, you can consult Al Green, right?
Here's how he opens, I'm still in love with you.
Okay, here are just the lyrics.
Again, you don't have to do anything on your own.
All you got to do is write down the Al Green lyrics and he will take care of everything for you, okay?
Okay.
He starts out by saying, spending my.
day thinking about you girl being here with you being near with you I can't explain myself
why I feel like I do though it hurts me so to let you know that I look in your eyes to let me
know how you feel let me know that love is really real well it seems to me that I'm wrapped up
in your love like if you just say that to somebody in your life somebody special somebody you
want to be special in your life.
And you don't say another thing. You can text that
verbatim and not even say
another word. And I'm telling you, I'm telling
you the response will be positive.
Right. So if you don't get anything else out
of this show, just to understand
that Al Green is here to help.
How powerful was that lyric? Did you all hear that?
I'm going to copy and paste it right now. What was that song again?
I'm still in love with you.
Okay. Just the first
couple of lines, just text
that. Don't even say
anything else though. Okay. Now, you ain't got to start with a hey, how you doing, how's your day?
No, no. Yeah. Al Green don't need no introductions, okay? You don't need any small talk.
Al Green gets to the point. So you send those lyrics, don't say anything else. Let her
marinate on it a little bit. Let her think about it a little bit. And I'm telling you
it'll work in your favor. Al Green, I'm still in love with you. One of my favorite,
favorite artist. Real quick before we get to some other stuff, why do they call the Super Regional?
Is that the best name we could come up with?
I mean, like, what's up with the Super Regional?
I don't know, because it's a sweet 16, basically.
There's 16 teams left, and they're going to go to eight, go to Omaha.
So I don't know why they call it the Super Regional.
It's like they couldn't get very creative.
They're like, well, we had a regional, and this one's better.
So it's just the Super Regional.
Yeah, it sounds like somebody was in the meeting was like, you know what, I got an idea.
Why don't we call it the Super Regional?
And then the person was important.
So everybody was like, yeah, that's a great idea.
Let's do that, Steve, and it just kind of stuck.
You know what I mean?
But super regional, you know, Sweet 16 has such a ring to it, right?
When you say Sweet 16, everybody knows what that is.
Super regional, I feel like we could do better than super regional.
So that was something I was thinking about.
I don't have an answer for you.
I don't know why they call it that.
I mean, I think we need to workshop it.
I think we need to have a meeting and come up with a better name in the offseason.
Okay, now here's my other thing.
I want you all to go with me to a place, an imaginary place, okay?
And I want you all to just think about this specific scenario, right?
The year is 2032.
All right, is everybody there?
Are you all there with me in the year 20302?
Okay.
20 years after the 2012 national championship run, right, under Cal.
Okay?
Anthony Davis is back at Rupp, Michael Kid Gilchrist,
All the players on that team are back at Rupp Arena,
and the crowd is going crazy.
It's before some big game, right?
And then they announce, and also the coach of that team,
John Caliperi, right?
Now, here's what I want to know from all of you in the room.
What would have to happen between now and then
for you to stand up and applaud in that exact moment?
I know you're going to cheer for Anthony Davis.
I know you're going to cheer for all those other players.
but to give him a standing ovation for you specifically,
what would have to happen between right now and the year 2032
when they certainly are going to celebrate that team?
I want to go around the room.
What would have to happen for you to physically stand up
and applaud Cal in that exact moment?
Ryan, you want to start?
Okay, well, this is an awesome question.
I love it because we are faced with that exact scenario next year
with the 1996 team and Rick Petino.
It's the 20-year anniversary in 2026.
The same thing, when Patino comes out.
And I think enough time has passed from Patino since he left Louisville
and he went to Greece, Iona, St. John's.
He's kind of got himself back on our good graces again.
So to answer your question, that's what's going to have to Caliperi.
He's going to have to leave Arkansas after four, five, six years,
kind of maybe go in the broadcast booth for a couple years,
say some really good things about Kentucky,
be very complimentary of whoever the coach is at the time,
and then maybe in 20 years, I would stand up,
if he did all this, I would stand up in a plotting.
Not 20 years, 232.
No, no, no, 23rd.
It's not 20 years.
That's like eight years from now.
Okay.
So we're talking like eight years from now,
the 20-year anniversary of that team.
So we're celebrating the 20-year anniversary of the 2012 run.
So, I mean, it's closer than you think.
So would that change it for you, Ryan?
Is that too soon?
Well, again, I think he would have to be out of Arkansas for at least three or four years
and have to, you know, like I said, he goes in the broadcast booth and really be complimentary
of Kentucky and how much he loved his time there and it's the best job I ever had, blah, blah, blah,
and then I think it can happen.
Okay.
What about you?
Yeah, as our listeners know, I was very ready for the Calipari breakup.
Yeah.
I still, you know, love everything he did earlier in his time.
So as long as it doesn't get too messy between what it's ahead at Arkansas, there'll be rivalries and there'll be a little shade back and forth in press conferences.
But as long as he's just not flat out disrespecting Kentucky, I'll be ready to give him that ovation in eight years, celebrating what he did in 2012.
It's going to be very awkward for a few years.
He's going to get booed in Rupp Arena.
We're going to talk our trash because he went to an in-conference rival.
But in eight years, even though I was done with him this past season, I will be ready to give that ovation.
far down the road, even though eight years isn't that long.
Yeah, you're right, though. What if it is messy,
though? What if it gets messy between
that? I mean, if he starts throwing
shade and it gets a little nasty,
I will... Yeah.
I don't know that it will be a standing ovation.
I will be clapping that we're celebrating
that we're celebrating that championship, but I don't know that you'll...
But you're not getting up out of your seat. You're not going to stand up out of your
seat when they say John Caliper.
You're not getting up out of your seat at Rupp Arena
and a plot. He's standing
next to Anthony Davis. They're hugging
and they're cheering and they're...
You're not going to applaud that moment.
You're not going to get up out of your seat and applaud.
Is that what you're saying?
I will if we're good from now on.
If it got real nasty in this Arkansas, Kentucky rivalry, maybe not.
Yeah.
As it stands now, I'll be fine and excited to welcome back.
Build a statue.
Put his name in the arena on down the road.
But right now it's going to be an ugly few years.
But in eight years, I'll be ready to applaud him.
We do have to remember that Petino flipped us off when he was.
That's exactly what I was about to say.
So let's remember, Petino went and coached our rival,
our biggest rival, the team we hate the most.
the planet out of everybody, gave us the middle finger on his way out of Rupp Arena, and now
we love him again, right? So Caliperi didn't do anything close to what Petino did, and I think that
even though we are going to boo Cala Perry when he's introduced as the Arkansas head coach every
time he comes to Rupp Arena, if we're honoring the 2012 team, I think we can still applaud him
for what he did in that moment. We're not necessarily applauding that he left us for Arkansas.
all.
We're applauding the team and what he accomplished in that year 2012.
So I think,
I think that's what would happen if he came back for that.
Yeah.
That's the complication of right.
Because, I mean,
it's not saying he's coming back with our,
of course you boo him, right?
Of course you're going to boo when he comes back next year
and the years after that.
But, you know, I feel like when you're celebrating a special team,
does some of that go out the window?
You know what I'm?
But now I'm even interested in this because,
And what's the number again for people to call?
Give me that number.
859-280-2287.
That's Clark's Pump and Shop phone number.
What has to happen for you, listeners, 2032, 8 years from now,
for you when they announced John Caliper with that 2012 National Championship team
for you to stand up in your seat at Rupp Arena and to applaud.
Like genuinely.
I'm not talking like a fake clap, but like a genuine applause.
I want to hear from you.
But in this moment, because of the Rick Patino cycle
and because he's gone from Villain to, you know,
coaching at Louisville, Lawville, whatever y'all say.
I know I can't say it the way.
What was that?
Loisville.
Loveville.
I was at a conference last week with some coaches from that school,
and I said it the way I said, and they were like,
you can't say it like that.
Well, I'm like, I don't know how to say it like y'all.
So, you know, I don't know.
Do y'all have a class?
Is there a Rosetta Stone for people in Kentucky?
I don't know, but you all need to help me out.
But Rick Petino's going through that cycle, right?
Have we reached a point, like, right now?
I'm not talking about years from now.
Right now, does Big Blue Nation like Petino more than Cal?
Like, right now, right?
It feels like probably right.
I think they do.
At this moment, yeah.
Patino kind of got back in our good graces in the last year,
especially with the things he did from Mark Pope.
Caliperia leaves us, goes to a conference rival.
Yeah, I think if you had a popularity poll right now,
Patino may be ahead.
I'm still a no on that.
Count me in the no camp.
The man has a Louisville tattooed on his point.
He has Louisville tattooed on his point.
Until he gets a Kentucky tattoo,
he's branded Louisville.
I don't stand for that.
What if we bring him to Rock,
but we have it removed, like at halftime,
like a tattoo removal?
Then the young Drew Franklin that went to Petino's camp
will start loving him again.
But right now he's got that stupid L on his back.
Man, that would be an event.
Okay, we got a call.
We do.
Yeah.
Let's go to Drew.
Drew, how you doing?
Merry Monday, man.
What's something that made you smile, something that made you happy?
Officer, Merry Monday to you guys as well.
Yesterday, kicked off vacation Bible school, which is, listeners don't know.
It's just like a little week-long event for kids at our church and that churches around this area.
Oh, I love vacation Bible school.
I was in vacation Bible school every single summer, man.
Yeah, me too.
And you know what I loved about it?
They got these lunches, man, and they had these bologna sandwiches.
with like the orange, the purple juice.
You know, I'm talking about the purple juice and a little plastic thing.
You had to rip off the aluminum foil joint.
Bro, they would give me an extra one because they like me, you know.
So I'd have like three juices, a couple sandwiches.
I respect that a lot.
Oh, yeah.
So my daughter, she's huge.
I ran it, basically.
Now, I got you.
My daughter, she had a game where they played with water balloons outside to kind of show them,
just let them have some fun out there.
She's four.
and just watching her get out there and run around and laugh and just be with other kids and just enjoy the moment.
Man, if you ever having a bad day, if you've got kids, take them out, let them play with other kids and just watch and just enjoy it.
Time goes by so fast.
It made me smile.
That's a beautiful thing, man.
I don't know what you called in about, but the cow scenario.
The year's 2032.
He comes back with the 2012 team to be celebrated to honor that team.
would you stand up and applaud?
And if not, what would he have to do to make you stand up
and applaud him at Rupp Arena?
Yeah, you know, I'm kind of in the minority.
I don't mind Cal.
I'm totally fine with him right now.
I didn't like the way it ended.
I thought that maybe, you know, he'd be a little bit better off,
but it is what it is with that.
So I've stand up and clap for him in five years,
as long as he's not the Arkansas coach,
as long as he's like Ryan said maybe a year or two removed from that.
I have no problems getting up and clapping at that point.
Okay, I appreciate that.
That feels like an obvious sort of caveat there.
If he's still at Arkansas, that's a little more complicated.
Yes, can't do it then.
Can't do it.
Yeah, that makes sense to me.
Who's our next caller?
Let's go to Brian.
Brian, how are you doing on this Merry Monday?
What's something that made you all happy, made you smile on this Merry Monday?
well your questions
what was that
my
your questions
about the 22
202
calipari coming back
I got a kick out of that
okay cool cool
so it's 2032
20 years from the
2012 national
championship round
you are at rup arena
they say Cal's name
what would you have to do
to make you stand up
and applaud
in that exact moment
those are a few things
now but Ronnie's
got to get a real dog.
Does he have a fake dog?
What do you mean?
What do you mean?
He's got a little tiny dog.
Throwing shade at his dog.
We still like the dogs.
I mean, it's not the wrong with it.
But you're, to me, a real dog for a man is like a dumber and pinch run or Falkwaller.
Something that can kill you.
Okay.
Bite your face off.
You want an attack dog.
Okay.
All right.
So he's got to get a new dog.
The second thing would be for him to change his attitude a little bit.
What does that mean?
Help me understand that.
To me, to me, I don't know, I guess.
That's why I know how to say it is he seems arrogant when he's talking about everything in sports in particular.
Like, this is the greatest this, greatest this.
And then you can't even make it past the first round in the tournament.
but as for me wanting him to come back to the UK,
I never want him back here again.
That's just my opinion on it.
I appreciate the call.
I have a lot of respect for the 2012 team.
Don't take me wrong.
But every time I think about all the misses we had,
especially 2013, 14.
No, God, no.
You wouldn't stand up and applaud.
Okay, well, I appreciate that call.
I mean, I get that sentiment of this idea that, you know,
people feel like maybe he's being a little arrogant.
There's also, there's also an element of like for that first year or two,
everything your ex does bothers you, right?
Like, there's still an element of that, right?
You can't really do the right thing.
You know, so I think there'll be some of that.
I feel like 2032, though, you'll be past maybe a lot of that.
And then it's maybe a clear slate for everybody, you know?
Like that feels like it's enough time from when he left,
enough time from the drama for people to say,
okay, that was a very special run,
a very special team.
Let's all stand up and applaud,
assuming to Drew's point that nothing crazy happens.
And listen, I wouldn't put that past Cal
because if anyone in college basketball
has ever wanted the last laugh,
I think it's Cal.
So I definitely think there's a scenario
where things are okay
and then Cal does some interview that sets everybody off.
I think we kind of all hit on it.
It's got to be a couple years removed from him coaching at Arkansas.
Like even if he's a coach somewhere else,
I think he's got to be even away from it,
whether he's on TV and say some really nice things about
if it's Coach Pope or whoever it is
and the UK program on his days here
for us to kind of welcome him back into the fold a little bit.
I think it will help that by 2032,
I mean, Kentucky will have at least another championship.
of Mark Pope, so even the title
will be even dated. So, I mean, we're kind of
looking at an old title there celebrating.
We might even forget about 2012.
By the time, we win a couple more.
That would change everything. National Championship, that would
certainly set the tone for him to come back and
kind of remove, I think, any of the emotion
around that. We will be back
after this.
Last night, a blown call changed

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross.
Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth.
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff,

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes,
Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.

Hey, rec, my mama wants you to wave at her.

Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Talk to him, man.
Let us breathe a little bit.
Let it breathe.
Being near with you, I can't explain myself.
Come on, Al.
Talk to them.
Come on now.
Wow.
Here we go.
Feel like I do.
Come on, Al.
Let's go, baby.
Last one.
I'm telling you all, I'm trying to hit you all to some game here about Al Green.
He'll change your life.
He will change your romantic life.
I don't care your age.
Maybe there's some young people listening.
Maybe in your early 20s.
You're like, I don't know anything about this old school music.
Try it.
Okay.
Put it on the, what do y'all do?
The Snapchat or the Tinder.
I don't know what y'all are on.
Put it on there.
All right?
Older, are you an older person trying to get your game back?
Trying to get your groove back?
Put some Al Green lyrics out there.
Try it.
It'll change you.
I assure you it will change you.
There's been a fun show so far, man.
I think this, this Cal question got people thinking a little bit.
It was something I've been thinking about.
Fellas, I've been thinking like, okay, fine.
Yes, he left in 2024, but you have to honor that 2012 team.
You have to.
Right?
And that's a special run.
And you have to, you can't take anything away from that team because of the drama right now.
Right?
I don't think that would be fair to that team if they came in and because Cal is there,
there was like a lukewarm reception.
Like, I don't think that will happen.
But if that happened, that would be fair.
wouldn't be fair to those guys who listen
I've covered every final four
of the last I think 15 years or something
like that. The Anthony Davis
led run was one of the most dominant
was one of the best runs
that we've seen and you got to give
them their full credit even though
there's that sort of drama
there with Cal I think fellas.
If it's not
as amicable as we think it might be
I can see him not even coming. I can see him
not wanting to come to interrupt.
and being booed.
I don't think he would do it.
Do you, Drew?
Oh, if it were still bad in eight years, I can see that,
but I just don't think it will get to that point.
I think both sides, aside from being a rivalry
and getting a few jabs here and there.
I think it'll be pretty amical moving forward, hopefully.
I'll celebrate even more than the championship team.
His first 10 years were my favorite years as the UK fan.
I'll celebrate the team that, you know,
unfortunately we had the 2015 ending at the Final Four.
If they want to come back, I'll give them an ovation.
I'll give about any of them ovation.
It was just the last few years we had you talk about going to several final fours.
Well, we've kind of forgotten what that was like around here.
It just ended so poorly.
But as far as looking back at the first half of his career, I'll applaud any of them.
It's going to be interesting to see what happens.
We got a caller here.
Yes, let's go to Peanut.
Peanut, what's up?
Merry Monday, Peanut.
What's something that made you happy and something that made you smile?
Yesterday was my birthday.
My wife spoiled me.
So there you go.
Happy birthday. How old were you, Peanut?
48.
Okay, congrats.
What's your real name, Peanut?
Tray.
Trey.
Okay, cool.
I live down in Orlando now.
Okay, you're going to applaud Cal in 2032 at Rupp Arena?
You know what?
I'm be honest with I'm cool with Cal now, you know.
I mean, it'd be different if we didn't get Pope and everything wasn't looking good, but I ain't mad at him.
It was time.
You ain't matter?
Okay, so you would stand up and applaud him.
He brought us one of them, one of them banners, so he's deal with me.
I respect that.
I definitely respect that.
I got a couple.
Go ahead.
I got a couple more things.
I want to say you're madder awesome on Sundays.
I appreciate that.
And yesterday you and him killed it.
I appreciate that, man.
I wasn't true.
You know, people, I get messages from a lot of Kentucky people with Mass Not on, and it's
like, you know, it ain't, it's like
when you had the fake Aunt Vib on
on fresh Pins of Bel Air. You know what I mean? The vibe isn't
the same for them a little bit.
So I appreciate hearing that.
I got one more thing for you.
You're talking about Al Green.
Yes, sir. I know that's some Luther and some Barry White.
What about that?
Lufa. Tell them about Luther.
Tell them a little. Tell the people about Luther.
Because, you know, Luther
could do it too, man. You can't go
wrong with Luther Vandross either.
You ain't lying.
You know, it's on.
That's what he said.
It's on one of them.
Bird White said it's, let's get it on.
Let's get it.
Marvin Gay, let me tell you, I appreciate that peanut.
See, it doesn't matter where you're from.
Al Green is universal.
That kind of music, it's just real, I don't know if they make it anymore today,
but that's just real love music, you know, and I really respect that.
Before we go to another caller, I think, Ryan, you got a livery.
I think we got to do that, right?
I think Drew's going to do one for us.
I'll jump in.
Drew, you got it?
Yeah, I'll tell you about no chair.
Linda Farms. Father's Day and grilling just got together like fire and beef. You can take care of
your dad this father's day by grilling up some Noce Linda dry aged beef. It can help by shipping or

That's Noce Linda Farms. You can get gift cards online, all the beef you need. Take care of your
dad with Noce Linda Farms. Nothing like a little Marri-Gay while you're talking about.
I hope I get, do I get some of that B for filling in?
You can.
How do I get some of that?
Also, we'll send you some.
Marvin Gay, let's get it on.
We'll let him take us out to this break.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.

What's up, guys?
This is Clever Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show,
I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Ms. Parker.
Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Luther Vandross. That's another one.
You can jam to Luther all day, man.
I love it, man.
I'm getting a lot of tweets from people who are confirming my algorithm.
green love, you know. Oh, yes.
It's good. It's good to know, man, because, you know, I mean, that's just, that's just
there. There are some music out there, fellas, where it doesn't matter the genre. It's
just good music. You know what I mean? It doesn't matter, you know, like what kind of music
you like. It's just good music. I'm a Johnny Cash fan. That's just good, that's just good music.
Frank Sinatra. My way, who can not like Frank Sinatra? Are you kidding me? That's just
genuinely good music, man.
So I think
Al Green, Luther Vandross,
I think there's certainly in that
category for me.
Before we get to
more calls, we got another live read.
We got to read something else.
Drew?
Yeah, I can do another one.
Drew, we got one more?
Run it back.
Okay.
He's here we had like eight of them or something.
I'm trying to get to.
Yeah, he's got one.
I'm ready to.
I'm ready to go.
B-B-B-in.
Do not let those,
do not let those aches and pains
or an injury to slow you down.
If something is bothering you, do what I did and call up court physical therapy to get healthy.
I had lingering back issues from a car accident and our friends at Courts-Bomont location help me bounce back.
And they can help you too with more than 75 locations around Kentucky, Anna.
They can help you regain your strength and confidence with the power of physical therapy.
No doctor referral necessary.
Just go to K-O-R-T.com to find a location near you today.
That's court.
Check them out.
My back and I thank them for all they do.
You check them out if you have any issues.
That's court, k-or-t.com.
And, Myron, we should have probably told you this before the show started, but we can't play
songs on the podcast.
So when you've been singing, it's just going to be you, Acapella, on the podcast.
Well, can I tell you something about that?
The people need that.
You know what I mean?
I'm not afraid of that.
You know what I mean?
So I think it's good because you'll still hear, you know, Al Green.
You'll still hear some of it.
You know what I mean?
So, well, it must be working here.
I got another text on the A V's and Glass Text for me asking if Myron is single.
That's the second one today after hearing all this music.
See?
And a lot of female calls.
It's not me.
Yeah.
It's not me, people.
Like, I would love to tell you it's me.
Like, I'm doing something special.
Like, it's my voice or my presentation.
Now, those things are amazing, right?
Don't get me wrong.
Don't get you wrong.
Your brother knows what I know what I'm doing.
But Al Green just adds to every, I don't care what.
I don't care what kind of mood you're in.
I don't care what's going on at home.
Somebody right now is listening.
And they're like, you know what?
Last night was terrible.
You know, with my significant other.
We got into an argument, a fight.
She's on the left side.
I'm on the right side.
I'll tell you what to do.
You just walk in and play some algorithm.
Don't say a word.
Just go about your day.
Don't say anything.
Give it about 30 minutes.
And then watch the mood change.
I'm just telling you what I know.
Who's our first caller?
Nancy.
Nancy, how you doing on this Merry Monday?
What's something that's made your smile,
something that's made you happy?
Okay.
I'm in Massachusetts.
I live in Kentucky,
but I'm in Massachusetts.
I walk my granddaughter to school today,
which really made me happy.
That's awesome.
That's awesome.
But I called in about Al Green.
Let's stay together.
Let's stay together.
That was my favorite song when I graduated from high school.
Okay, so that's probably going to tell you my age.
That's a beautiful song. That's a beautiful song.
It is. It is.
So one of my favorites. I'm also a big Kentucky sports fan.
So I listen to KSR and the pre-show every day.
And somebody said, I really need to get a life.
And I've told them that. But I love it.
And I find out other things besides, you know, okay, the match with, what was the match that's just been canceled?
Oh, you know who I'm talking about.
The boxing match.
Tyson?
Tyson and Jake Paul.
Postpone, not canceled.
Right.
Okay, postpone.
So my grandson, who's 13,
we talked about that yesterday,
and I said, I found out about that on the KSR show.
See, I wouldn't know about that.
See, that's a beautiful thing.
You got your granddaughter,
you're listening to Al Green,
you're listening to KSR.
That sounds like a great life.
Anybody hating on that, they're not living, right?
That's not your problem.
You know what I mean?
If they don't understand how to live and enjoy life,
that's on them.
So I respect it.
She talked about,
stay together. I want you all to hear how he opens. Let's stay together. Because I'm trying to
help you save your relationships. He starts out saying, I'm so in love with you. Whatever you want to do
is all right with me because you make me feel so brand new. And I want to spend my life with you.
It doesn't get better than that doesn't. I mean, that's just, that's some songwriting, right?
Ladies are melting all over the Commonwealth right now. I'm just, I'm trying to help you all out. Okay, I don't
I know a lot, but I know a little.
I got you next break.
We'll play it next break.
Okay.
Thanks, Shannon.
I hope so.
Thank you for the call.
Listen, I don't know a lot, but I know a little.
Good talking to you, too.
What about Teddy with the low out?
I didn't hear Teddy's name mentioned with Barry, all these ledger, a little Teddy Pendergrass.
Oh, Teddy's in there.
I think about to Cedric the entertainer doing the Teddy gives all the instructions in his lyrics.
Yeah.
Turn off the lights.
Light candle.
Turn off.
Turn off the lights.
Turn off.
The candle.
Turn them off.
Yeah, that he does that part.
I'll tell you a Teddy Prendergast song that everybody needs to hear.
But it's not by Teddy Pendergrass.
It's by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.
And it's called Miss You.
Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.
Let's play that when we come back.
It is one of the greatest love songs in the world.
Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes recruited Teddy Pendergrass to be their lead singer.
And this is one of their classic songs.
and I'm telling you, that's the song you play when you lost her, right?
Like when it's clear that it's over, you know what I mean?
And you're trying to grapple with the pain of that.
And then you're just hoping that maybe one day you see her at the grocery store
or at the park or just somewhere.
That's when you play Miss You by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes,
which is Teddy Pendergrass leading that song.
Because the lyrics there are powerful, but you got to be in the right mood.
Right? You got to be in the right mood for me. Oh, here he is. Come on. Talk to him.
Ooh, listen to him. Listen to Teddy Pendergrass. He lost her. She's gone. She's got a new thing going on.
She moved across town. She won't respond to your text. But he's crying out his heart for it. And this is just special, special Teddy P. So I'm telling you, Miss you, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.
but that's after she's gone though.
Like, you don't, if you're like, okay, I got a chance, that's not for you.
But when it's been some time and you're reflecting on her being gone,
that's when you get into Teddy P.
You got to go from, I'll tell you the steps.
You start with Al Green, you graduate to Luther Vandross.
You end with Teddy P.
Like, don't just go to level three with Teddy P when you haven't taken those steps.
But that's a powerful song.
Who's our next caller?
Let's go to Thomas.
Thomas, how you do?
doing on this Merry Monday?
Doing good, doing good.
I've enjoyed this Merry Monday so far, but, Myron, we've got a shift a little bit.
I can't believe we got this far.
Can't believe we've got this far in the show.
A little controversy a few months back, if you recall, a tweet by you, yourself, calling
our beloved Reed Shepherd, the most Duke-esque player you've ever seen.
Oh, no, man.
Why you bring up old, Myron?
Very true.
of old stuff, man.
Would you like to take this moment right now and apologize, BBN?
Listen, man, you know what?
I didn't know when it would come up.
I figured it would come up at some point.
You know what?
That was one of those tweets where when I hit send, I knew it was a bad idea.
But I don't believe in deleting tweets.
Like I just, you know, if I put something out there and people don't like it,
I'm going to leave it out there because, you know, I believe that that's the way it goes.
You know what I mean?
And then, of all people, Matt Jones, I think Matt Jones quote tweeted it and said,
shut up.
Right?
Which I think is what said everybody off.
No, just like a good friend, right?
Here I am thinking that he's going to have my back maybe.
And that's not what happened.
So, yeah, I don't remember what I was doing that day, but that could have stayed in the drafts.
What I wasn't prepared for was how many Kentucky fans challenged me to a fight
at very specific locations.
Okay?
Like there was a couple of dudes who reached out and said,
meet me at Al's bar in this little city on Friday night.
And I'm like, hold on a second.
Do you just go to that bar on Friday nights to fight people?
Because, you know, I don't know if I want to be involved in that.
So that was a bad moment.
And, you know, listen, I love Reed Shepherd.
I did a piece on Reed Shepherd.
But not my best day.
Not my best day.
So my apologies to Big Blue Nation.
and I wasn't trying to rile anybody up, you know?
Just watch out the next time you show up at KS Bar now.
Oh, I was already there.
No, that'll be okay.
People like, people like me.
You know what I mean?
Once you see it, then you're good.
Yeah.
It's all good, mine.
We love you.
I appreciate it.
I'll be here this summer, you know, so I'm probably going to be in Lexington a few times.
So, but yeah, fellas, what did you all think of that?
Because it was, you know, like I said, a bunch of people were challenging me.
to like actual fights.
You know what I mean?
And I was like, okay, you know, this dude seems kind of serious, you know, more serious
than I understood.
I knew people love Reed Shepherd.
But here's what I learned in that tweet.
And I told Matt this, I didn't know how much y'all hit a Duke.
I legitimately did not know that Duke was that high up on your list.
What, it's like the cards and then it's what, Tennessee.
And then Duke is third?
Is that the ranking?
I think that might be the most popular answer you'd get if you'd poll the BBN, those three at the top.
And I had no idea that Duke was three.
The Leidner, people that weren't even born in 92, they just have a hate that they inherited from their family.
It gets passed down generations that game.
I don't even have memories from that game, but I hate him.
Everyone hates him if you're a Kentucky fan.
Drew and I didn't want to bring this up.
I figured a caller was going to bring this up at some point about that tweet.
We love you, Myron, but you can't connect one of Kentucky's favorite sons with Duke of all places like that.
Yeah, that was the mistake.
I just thought you were a little hangary.
Maybe didn't get enough sleep.
Kind of like you said, you just weren't in the right frame of mind.
Didn't listen to any algorithm that day.
I wasn't my best self.
I'll say that, you know, and I shouldn't have tweeted it.
But, yeah, I didn't know.
I learned about the Duke hate through that.
Your boy, Matt didn't help your calls in anything.
He made it worse, but I wasn't surprised.
I earned that. I'll take it. We'll be back after this break.

And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show,
I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff,
like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Ms. Parker.
Listen to the Cliverts show on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Love with you.
Talk to him, Al.
Whatever you want to do.
Come on, Al.
It's all right with me.
I can't wait to hear the podcast.
I can't hit this note that Al here.
He goes a little higher than I can go.
But, man, I love this song.
You can sing her so brand new.
Come on, Al.
I love it, man.
Woo.
Spend my life.
This is good stuff.
But you already gave the Winston Thief song in the day.
You're going to change it to this one?
I did love and happiness.
I'll keep loving happiness.
I'll keep it loving happiness.
Kimple, Kentucky Joe didn't get the award.
Man.
Yeah, he was close.
Here's the thing.
He was close.
I've been getting so many tweets from listeners who love Al Green.
I'm telling you.
Like this is, BBN loves Al Green.
There are so many people reaching out and saying how incredible he is.
So I'm glad I can add a little bit of that musical vibe on this Mary Monday.
Before we get to some calls before the end of the show, we got one more.
Yes, we do.
We got one more?
And this segment is sponsored by cornbread hemp.
This is serious stuff.
Americans are in danger of losing their right to full spectrum CBD products like the ones made at cornbread hemp.
At this very moment, prohibition groups are trying to reverse the 2018 farm
bill that made hemp legal, which means recriminalizing a plant that we all depend on for a better
quality of life. But the good news is you can help. And there's still time to act. All you need
to do is go to cornbreadhemp.com slash KSR. That's cornbreadhemp.com.com slash ksr slash ksr.
Back to you, Myron. Is that our last one? Yeah, that's the last one of Congress to tell them that you,
Yep, we got them.
It was like 15 of them.
I want to make sure I get to all of them.
We got them.
It's been a fun show.
And listen, I'll be here every Monday.
I'm getting tweets about why don't you get into the Mark Pope stuff, the line.
I have so much to say about the talent that Mark Pope has assembled.
And again, I'll be here every Monday.
So we will certainly get into that.
I know the staff really well.
So I'm looking forward to kind of what's ahead.
But who's our first caller that's out there?
Let's go to Marsha.
Marsha, how you doing on this Merry Monday?
What's something that made you happy?
Something that made you smile.
My baby girl's birthday today.
Nice.
Happy birthday.
What's her age and name?
Kendall, he's 32.
Oh, my goodness.
Happy birthday, Kendall.
Happy birthday, happy birthday.
Yeah, Ryan said he feels old Kendall.
Wow.
We know Kendall.
Okay, happy birthday.
Look, I have to weigh in on this Caliperi and stuff.
When he brings his hind in into Ruff Arena,
Marcia is going to get up off of her hind in,
and she is going to cheer very loudly.
Unless between here and then,
he pulls a patino and talks about us like we're raving lunatics,
I have no reason to boo cow.
I was disappointed in our last game.
okay we love Reed Shepherd his game was terrible are we going to boot him
his last game was bad I'm not going to boo cow and like I said he he gave us some of the
most exciting games years we were so full up 2010 was one of the best years ever because we just
come out of hell and we were so excited and look what cow delivered I I camped out for 17 years
and 2010 was my favorite year to camp out.
I love Cal, and I will, out of respect for Pope,
if Mark Pope wasn't our coach, a Patino gets booed.
He's lost, I've lost all respect for him,
and I didn't like Cal going to Arkansas, but it's free country,
and they're all basketball jigalos anyway.
Whoa, whoa, okay, that did, be it, did, kind of,
me there. Okay, wow, okay.
You know, I respect that, though. I respect
that sentiment
about, you know what?
It feels like there's a camp that would applaud
today. It feels like there's a camp
where it's going to take a little bit more time.
Let's get to one more call at least.
All right. Who's next up? Let's go to David.
David, how you doing? This Merry Monday.
What's something that made you happy? Something that
made you smile.
Well, I'm not going to lie. I think listening to something out of me
and certainly put a smile in my face.
Won't he do it?
I mean, he'll do it to you.
I told you.
It really will.
I love the show, and I'm so glad you're going to be joining us on Mondays for this summer hiatus until Matt gets back.
I appreciate that.
Hey, with the Reed Shepherd thing, I remember when you tweeted that, and I thought about it last Friday.
I took my wife to the orthopedist.
He's a Duke fan.
And he saw me for two minutes, saw me in a UK shirt, had to talk trash.
So when I hear you talk about
Reed Shepard's like a dude guy,
no, God bless you,
love your writing, love you on there,
but yeah,
they can't help themselves.
They're just obnoxious,
obnoxious people.
And Reed Shepard didn't like that.
Even the Louisville fans are like that.
You know what I appreciate that.
No, I appreciate that.
Honestly,
I've worked with Matt Jones almost,
you know, seven years or something like that.
I knew Tennessee.
Obviously I understood Louisville,
Louisville, whatever, you know,
I did not understand the Duke.
I'm telling you, I did not understand it was to that degree.
I just didn't, you know what I mean?
But I learned.
Well, I live at D.C., and I got to tell you, man,
they are a different breed of people, and their fan base, their players.
It's like, just keep your distance.
I don't care how talented they say you are is one of the best finest doctors.
I don't want that.
They're obnoxious, obnoxious people.
I've got to root for Cal.
I'm going to cheer for Cal when we see him
as long as nothing bad happens between now and then.
No UMass or Memphis stuff.
A lot of affection for them.
It was time.
It was time.
But anyway, man, y'all have a great day.
God bless.
Love the show.
Don't know you guys, but we really love you guys from afar if you get my drift.
A lot of affection.
Have a wonderful day.
I appreciate that.
I love the vibe, too.
I think Mary Mondays are going to stick
around even when Matt comes back.
You know, I think he should adapt the Merry Mondays.
Fellas, this has been fun.
A lot of fun.
I'm looking forward to doing it, you know, the rest of the summer while Matt is
touring Europe for a couple of months.
So, yeah, thank you all for, thank you to BBN for, you know, letting me come in and host
and giving me some grace after the Reed Shepherd.
I don't want to fight y'all, by the way, off that tweet.
Like, I know, there's a couple of dudes who, you know, for real, they wanted to, like,
meet up at a specific place.
I'm 41 years old almost.
I'm not.
I'm not.
fighting anybody. You know what I mean? If you want to yell at me, fine. But I hope maybe over
this stint on KSR for the next couple weeks. And then me telling people about Al Green, maybe,
maybe that will solve, you know, maybe the gap between us. Because I got more music. I got more singing.
I got more takes. And you're going to get this every Monday. Merry Mondays with Meyer,
Meccaf, and the crew. Let's go, baby. Have a great day.
