Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,

Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
A rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What? Where's she at?

Ryan and Drew here with Mr. Podcast, Shannon the Dude.
Oh, yeah.
I didn't hear anything about the podcast yesterday, did we Shannon?
I screwed that up, I guess.
Yeah, I didn't realize yesterday was June 3rd, not June 1st, so my bad.
But as I said on the pre-show, you would think that that wouldn't trip people up too much because, you know, June 1st was a Saturday.
You know we don't do a show on a Saturday.
So wouldn't you think that maybe somebody just screwed up the date and that was the actual updated show?
No, I think a lot of most people were looking for that podcast yesterday.
So it was there.
So, Shannon, today is June the 4th.
Thank you.
Okay, I got my calendar.
We're live at KS. Bar and Grill.
Come on out and see us, have lunch with us today.
We do, it's a, it's Bingo day here at KS.
Bar and Gil.
I've been practicing.
You're ready for a little bingo tonight.
B2.
How'd I do?
Is that good?
I think that's pretty good.
Shannon, there's five rounds of bingo.
Drew is going to call around and I'm going to call around for our first edition of Bingo at KS.
Bar and Grill tonight.
Well, the good thing is it's really hard to screw up bingo, you know?
So, but I will tell you, as somebody who has done promotions with radio stations and bingo, we had a night where we did bingo and the person that printed off the bingo cards accidentally printed duplicates and everybody had a winner at the same time.
So make sure you don't make that mistake, okay?
That's the one way you can screw up bingo.
So as long as you make sure that everybody has different cards, you're going to be all right tonight.
That's awesome.
We're not printing our own cards, right, Ryan, I've just been practicing my B's, eyes, in, G's and O's.
There you go.
Are we supposed to be dobbing and bringing the balls?
Do we have one of the little wheel things we spend?
We've hired George Thompson.
He's got his own company.
All right, good.
He's going to come.
He's from Mount Sterling.
He does this for a living.
He's going to bring his own.
He brings the own dobers.
See, now I'm ready.
So long as I can just focus on doing my bingoing, then I'm ready to go.
Now, we get to play, I guess, when we're not calling the game, you and I get to play.
See, I'm mostly excited about that.
I've never been to a public bingo.
I've played in school or played with fun, one of the friends out here and there,
but I've never been out to like a competitive bingo night.
So as much as I'm looking forward to reading it, I really want to play too,
and I'm hoping we get some of like those the real serious bingoes.
Maybe pull them over from the wherever they play, the bingo halls.
The grandmas that play in the bingo halls that take it serious with like 16 cards in front of them.
Now you can't smoke in here, though.
That might throw them off their game.
It's true. Good point.
Might get a leg up on them with it or other cigarettes.
But I am looking forward to a fun night here.
Bingo tonight debut here at KS. Bar and Grill.
Now, while we're talking about this, a week from tomorrow is Marvel trivia tonight.
And Shannon the dude will be.
Marvel trivia tonight?
Is that what a week from tomorrow?
What did I say?
A week from tomorrow is Marvel trivia tonight.
It's just Marvel trivia.
A week from tomorrow is Marvel trivia night.
There you go.
A week from tomorrow is Marvel trivia night.
And Shannon the dude is going to be reading the questions, but we need a costume.
We need a costume.
We need a Marvel costume.
If somebody listening right now can help us out with that.
Put Shannon.
Shannon is like an extra small.
Oh, please.
Feels like an Iron Man.
Don't put that on me.
Okay, let's go through those because I don't know anything about Marvel Comics.
Obviously, that's why I'm reading the questions.
I'm not coming up with the questions either.
We've got somebody writing the question.
I'm just going to read them.
I'll probably mispronounce somebody's name, so don't get mad at me like you did with Hermione or Hermione, whatever it was.
Don't get the Potter fans.
Yeah.
Oh, God, the Harry Potter fan.
came at with pitchforks.
But, like, so who are the superheroes in Marvel?
Like, who are some of my options I could go to?
Spider-Man.
Okay.
Spider-Man's Marvel.
Spider-Man.
Okay.
Iron-man.
Iron-man.
Hulk?
Hulk?
Thor.
I want to be Hulk.
He's too scrawny to be Thor.
Yeah.
If he wears a Hulk or a Thor costume, he would have to have, like, padding in it.
You know, and are you pumped out?
Daredevil?
is Ant Man also?
I believe he's Marvel.
Yeah.
Plenty options, Shannon.
You've got this under control.
Okay. Wolverine. That would be cool.
Wolverine will be a good one.
All the X-Men.
So if you can help us with a costume for Shannon
on Marvel Trivia Night, which is a week from tomorrow,
you can reach us out on the A Vision Glass text machine,
or you can tweet us or can just bring it to the bar.
But again, Shannon is like an extra, extra small.
No.
Little bitty man.
Don't get me a child's costume.
I'll rip it.
He wants the replica Antman costume.
Okay, we now know who UK baseball is going to play this weekend in the Super Regional over here at Kentucky Prowe Park.
It is Oregon State.
Oregon State defeated UC Irvine in their extra game yesterday.
So it's the Wildcats and the beavers this weekend, Drew.
The fighting Rich Brooks's?
What else do we know about Oregon State?
Matt has a beaver's hoodie wears all the time.
I hope he didn't pack that to Europe.
bad mojo. You know, he does wear that Oregon State hoodie a lot. I had a beaver's hat in high school.
I thought that was funny. Wasn't Mitch Barnhart also at Oregon? Rich Brooks was at Oregon.
He did both Oregon and Oregon State, right? Okay. And then Mitch was from Oregon State, I believe,
if I'm not mistaken. So a little bit of homecoming there for Mitch.
Game times are supposed to be announced at any minute. I'm looking right. I've been hitting
refresh. They're supposed to come out at 10. Yeah. He's been hitting it over and over.
Okay. But as soon as you get it, we'll do the breaking news of the game time. So it's
It's Oregon State.
It's Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
It's the best two out of three.
You've got to like Kentucky's chances.
I think Oregon State I saw was the 15th overall seed
when they won their own region out there this past weekend.
Yeah, I was hoping they'd get forced an extra game
and that just keep going on and on
because they did have to go into a little bit of yesterday.
I wanted them to be as gassed as possible before they fly across the country.
But, you know, seeing that when the bracket came out,
it kind of figured it would be Oregon State when you see
UC Irvine, the teams that were in it with them.
But here it is in front of us.
Kentucky got that sweep looking good.
You know, got to rest a little bit, not having to go into Monday.
Didn't use too much of the pitching.
And I think they're in a good place.
Only the third time in school history that they've made it to the Super Regional.
And this is the first time they've ever hosted the Super Regional.
So it's a big moment for the program for Coach Mingione and the guys over there what they've done.
Obviously you saw the crowd this weekend.
Everybody is like jumped on board in the big blue connection.
because they're so excited about what this team could possibly do.
Oh, wait, I do have it right now.
Okay, here's the time.
We'll have a right over it.
Breaking news, Shannon.
Running a nah, nah.
And make sure this is right.
This is NCAA baseball with a checkmark.
We're going to trust that, right?
All right, we trust it.
All right, June 8th, 6 o'clock.
ESPNU.
What is June 8th?
Is that Friday, right?
June 8 is Saturday.
Okay, so going, give,
dang, they're giving a little more rest.
I's hoping they'd make Oregon State.
We don't start until Saturday.
Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
Saturday, 6 o'clock.
Sunday, 9 o'clock.
and then Monday if necessary.
And they're on ESPNU.
I know there were some fans worried about having to do the plus thing again.
We're on plus all weekend.
Had to pay a little money to watch baseball.
At least this one's on ESPNU.
PNU, can't talk.
Saturday at 6, Sunday at 9.
Wow, Sunday at 9.
That's a late game out there at Kentucky Proud Park.
And it will be packed, and the people have to get up and go to work Monday morning.
No problem.
No problem.
Monday's my earliest morning.
I might just all night or it.
Well, might as well.
Stay up through it.
It's a bit you go.
Celebrate afterwards.
So there's your game times.
Now, the other baseball story I want to bring up involving this is the University of Evansville.
Now, Drew, you're from Western Kentucky.
I'm from southwest Indiana.
We grew up going to Evansville.
Oh, if we were going out to eat, we were driving an hour to Evansville.
To Green River Road.
Oh, yeah.
Hit them all.
Hit the mall.
Lloyd Expressway, if we were getting crazy.
So, you know, a lot of folks across the state don't know why we're talking about it.
Evansville, but we have a lot of people listening right now in western Kentucky where
Evansville is the big town.
It's pretty much Kentucky.
It's just right there.
They tried across the river from Henderson.
Prom, birthdays, everything.
We're going to Evansville.
Go to Evansville.
Well, the University of Evansville kind of surprised everybody, won the Missouri Valley Conference
Tournament.
They beat Indiana State to get the automatic bid to the tournament.
It was kind of a surprise.
They weren't even know if they were going to make the tournament.
They won their conference tournament to get the automatic bid.
That's how we ended up with Indiana State.
That's how we ended up with Indiana State here.
Well, they were the fourth.
seed in their region. I believe it was the Greensville or Greensboro, one of the
Greens regions. They were the fourth seed. They were the lowest seed. They won the
thing. They won it. So they are now going to the Super Regional and they play at Tennessee
in Knoxville, two out of three. So now we have not only Evansville, Indiana, University
of Vendzville, our neighbor, they're playing Tennessee this weekend. So we got to root for them as well.
I didn't realize that match them against Tennessee. I didn't put that together. We were going to
root for whoever's playing the Vols.
I will put aside that one basketball game we won't revisit,
and I will get behind the purple aces for this one,
because we've got to get Tennessee out of there.
They're pumping their chest.
They're hitting home runs like every other at bat.
They're a good baseball team.
We need to get them out of there before they get to Omaha.
Now, Shan, I've got to ask you something about this.
Okay.
So after Evansville beat whoever it was they beat in the Greensville or Greensboro
Regional.
East Carolina.
East Carolina, thank you.
After they beat East Carolina, the players on Evan's,
Keep in mind the story I just told you.
They were a 4C.
They weren't he supposed to get in the tournament.
Did a dog pile out on the field.
Yeah.
Well, as the coaches went out to shake hands,
the East Carolina coach apparently is like,
that's so Bush League.
You know, you guys are embarrassing yourselves.
You know, you shouldn't be acting like that.
One of the Evansville assistant coaches said, come on, man.
We never do.
We never get this far.
Let us have our moment.
And then that led to an East Carolina coach saying some naughty words.
So not really?
Yes.
And they all kind of got in each other's faces, little, you know, smack talk, pushing and shoving.
Yeah.
What's your take on that, Shend?
You're a baseball guy.
Yeah, I mean, let them have their moment.
Absolutely.
The four seed coming in, nobody expected them to get this far.
You're going to a super regional.
I mean, that's baseball, right?
I mean, we've been doing this for how long now?
You celebrate moments like that.
So I'm totally fine with Evansville.
Sounds like sour grapes on the other end, as far as I'm concerned.
Because, like, when Kentucky won the other night, they didn't dogpile.
They celebrated, but they just gave high-fives and bro hugs.
They didn't dog-pile or anything like that.
Drew, what's your take on it?
Well, Kentucky's is different.
They just did it last year.
And unlike last year, you have the super scum, and it's kind of like jobs not done kind of thing for Kentucky.
Evansville, they said they were the four-seat of the four teams in that little pod.
Of course they should celebrate.
I mean, they're too far away to get to G.
G.D. Ritzies and celebrate there.
Or what else we got over there?
Toronies?
Yeah.
Kipleys.
Playing all the hits.
I have no problem with that whatsoever.
What do we say?
Don't want them to do it, beat them.
That's what I felt like.
Like Shannon said, it's sour grapes just win the game.
They were probably mad because they got beat.
I think it's okay to celebrate if you're a team like Evansville.
Probably Kentucky they didn't need to really do the dog pile.
But for Evansville, good for them, man.
And now we're all Purple Aces fans going down and trying to beat Tennessee this weekend.
Ryan, let me ask you since Kentucky's what, two wins, two wins away from
the college world series let's say they win this weekend we going to
Omaha what are we doing Drew's not here I've if they can draw like the
Friday game I can maybe do like a there and back quickly okay I mean I would
I'd have to go on my own you all wouldn't want to do a 24 hour experience but if
they got an early enough draw I'm not a hard no but it seems very unlikely and
here's kind of behind the curtain a little bit when we go on these trips that
pays for everything he pays for the gas he pays for the hotel he pays for the food yeah right now that's
you yeah i don't know about you guys i don't know about you guys the big boy pants my bank account
has a lot of zeros in it well that's a good thing right yeah well not those kind of zeros
zero point zero so i'll buy a flight if i have to if if uh if the game lines out like like it
like i need it too but it seems very unlikely well chances are high that kentucky can win this they can
two and three.
We're not looking too far ahead.
That's when you lose when you start booking flights.
We got some games to win this upcoming weekend.
So it's Saturday at 6 o'clock, Sunday at 9 o'clock,
and then Monday, if needed, if a game three is needed.
That 9 o'clock game after all day is Sunday.
Might be.
I need a couple waters.
Now, it's not the college baseball world series format,
but we do need to just, we're talking all this baseball.
I know this is a baseball heavy segment.
Of course.
It's baseball heavy time in the bluegrass.
We're a baseball town.
Matt told us about Birmingham Southern a couple weeks ago.
The school closed its doors.
When they had commencement, they had final exams, everybody went home for the summer, they closed the doors.
School is closed forever.
Done.
No more Birmingham Southern.
But the baseball team was still playing.
And the baseball team kept winning.
And they kept winning.
And they made it to the Division III World Series this weekend.
And they won again.
They're the team that never dies.
Sunday, however, though, they finally got beat in the Division 3 World Series,
which meant not only is their season over, the school is closed forever.
They are done, no more, for Birmingham Southern.
And I saw the team kind of walked off like a final march off the field
knowing that this was the swan song for Birmingham Southern.
I thought it was a great story.
It would have been awesome if they could have won the whole thing.
Well, they had a walk-off home run too to advance.
I saw that two outs, maybe the guy on base.
That's right.
I mean, their back was against the wall.
to completely be gone forever, and they stayed alive with a walk-off to keep going.
And they ran into Wisconsin Whitewater.
Those dang Wisconsin teams, man, they'll get you in the postseason.
But awesome run for a school.
Hadn't have been so weird, being a fan or a player on that team,
trying to go win a championship for an institution that no longer even exists.
That crowd was going nuts when they had the walk-off two days ago.
That was an amazing story, like something out of Disney.
But then they lost on a walk-off too, so can you imagine having that kind of heartbreak?
going that far, but, you know, everybody was pulling for them.
Well, we're all Birmingham Southern,
forever and ever be a Birmingham Southern fan.
We're also a Purple Aces fan this weekend.
Of course, the UK Backcats as they host Oregon State.
All right, well, take our break, come back.
Got a lot more.
The phone lines will be open.
502.
No, the Aviation Glass text machine is 502-735-3680.
The Clark's Publishop shop phone number is 859-280-2287.
We'll be right back.

Little Rascal Flats.
Are you still a fan?
I don't hear you talk much about Rascal Flats.
anymore.
Yeah, I like them.
It's not as big as they used to be when we used to go to concerts.
They watch them all the time, but it's been a long time I've been to a Rascal
Flats concert.
I think they've kind of broke up even.
Yeah, what happened to them?
It went solo, didn't they?
He run out of hair jail?
Frosted Tips.
Gary LaVox was the lead singer.
I think he went to, became a Christian, again, when he wanted to release a Christian album, I think.
Oh, he left them.
Yeah, yeah.
Joe Dan Rooney, Gary LaVox, and I forget the other guy.
Don't them all.
Have you seen them live?
About a dozen times.
Wow.
Yeah.
That's a band I completely forgot.
They were huge there for a long time.
All right.
859-2802-287.
That's our phone number if you want to call and get on board.
A couple little news items that we want to get to before we go to the phones.
Kind of had some headlines over the weekend that Vince Mero, UK's superstar recruiter,
offered an eighth grader, a scholarship to play football at the University of Kentucky.
Drew, what's the story?
Well, sometimes you need an eighth grader in your pool of targets.
It's a little younger than we usually go, but Vince offered Bryden Feister.
Make sure I say that right.
He's from Akron, Ohio.
He's from that the high school Douglas played Archbishop Hoban.
Oh, yeah, okay.
I mean, you know, they're basically like Ohio State of high school.
Yes.
So, you know, he hadn't played yet, but if you're going to that high school and he's got an older brother that I think Vince has recruited a little bit,
Vince wants him, who I might say it's crazy.
So, of course, I love getting, if it's someone that's on down the road
is going to have all these offers, why not get in early?
Michigan's offered, too.
That helps.
I mean, if you look up Michigan's offered, it's not like.
I've seen some people, you know, bring up the Billy Gillespie comparison where he
offered an eighth grader just off the grid.
I don't even know if that kid went on to play basketball.
This is at least an eighth grader with lots of attention, including from Notre Dame.
I don't know if they've offered, but he's visiting there.
I guess there's a little bit of gamemanship because if you're a little bit of gamemanship, because if you're
recruiting the older brother, I think it earns favor with the family.
If you also start recruiting younger brother, I guess it could be compared to, you know,
like right now they've got Josh Caddus, and I think they're recruiting Josh Caddus' younger brother.
I hope we just recruit Caddus forever.
I don't know how many are left.
We already have three of them.
Just keep them going.
The next, if you're a Caddus, automatic scholarship.
Come to Kentucky.
But, I mean, the area he's in, and he's already six three going into high school,
I don't think it's that crazy.
I mean, Vince knows what he's doing.
He's a linebacker, right?
The eighth grader is a linebacker?
Running back both.
Could be running back here.
Got a lot of time to figure that out.
That's true.
But he's huge and going to Archbishop opponent.
Shannon, what do you think about Vince offering an eighth grader?
Yeah, I mean, we used to kind of laugh at that, but now I think it's more common.
And if the guy is, I haven't seen the size of the kid, but I mean, if he's in eighth grade and already big enough to play in Vince Merrill's eyes, then who are we to question Vince?
You know, he's a great recruiter.
So if he sees something in this kid as an eighth grader, then I'm not going to, you know, question it.
I think it's probably a good decision.
You see a lot of times you beat some big schools for a kid and they're like, well, they called me.
They're one of the first schools there.
Now, this wouldn't be the first offer because you already had a few.
But, you know, four years from now, it might be head-to-head with a school that hadn't called him yet.
He might remember this offer when he was in eighth grade.
It does help when you're on a kid early and you started building that relationship.
It's all about, you know, that relationship you build with the coaches.
So I think it does.
So especially if they can get older brother to commit.
Now you're already on younger brother.
So you think he's playing the long game here, right?
He's getting this guy to get the younger one.
Yeah, and I think he would want both of them.
Obviously, this kid is talented if Michigan has already offered him as well.
Yeah.
We had a big offer on Monday over, you know, they're doing the football camps.
Correct.
Summer camps.
Yeah.
Those just started.
We noticed when I was parking for baseball to my left in the same parking lot was Railbird.
then there was the baseball.
Then you had the football camp in the football stadium.
A lot going on over there.
But we got a Hampton offer.
He's already a baseball commit, Evan Hampton, twin brother Elijah, from Owensboro.
You're familiar with Owensboro.
We know his family.
I was about to say he now has a football offer from Vince after already being committed
to UK baseball.
And he's taking the two-sport thing seriously and really wants to be play both at UK,
which would be the first in many years, I would say, to actually pull that off.
but committed to baseball at least a year ago, I think,
and now football has given him interest.
He was one of the standouts at camp, got the offer.
I guess Vince was talking to him a lot all week.
All Monday, seems like a serious candidate to land up on the football team while playing baseball, too.
He's still very young, just a sophomore.
But we know those family connections, don't we?
I'm sure Grandpa Doug's very proud that he got that second offer yesterday.
If you live in Cynthia, you know the Hampton family.
You know Doug Hampton.
knows Doug up there.
Absolutely.
These are his twin.
Or if you watch basketball games at Ruff Arena and see him down there on the...
Sitting on Press Row down there.
He is...
We've heard about these twins for a long time.
Oh, yeah.
It's Brent's twins, Brent Hampton, who referees basketball games across the country, big-time games.
Uncle Doug played baseball at UK.
Uncle Doug.
Also referees.
That's right.
Also referees.
They both referee the UK Bahamas.
Anytime they can't do Kentucky games because being an alum.
Yeah.
But they've done a lot of those screen.
with Bart Lennox in the Bahamas.
So so many UK connections to the Hampton Boys.
And now Evan has the double offer from UK.
What is that like Shane Boyd?
Who else?
Well, we mentioned this recently, right?
Recently, guys that played the football, baseball combo at Kentucky is probably weird.
I think Pookie Jones, I think, did it for a little bit.
Shane Boyd would have been the last one to do it successfully.
He ran a 4-4-2 in the 40th camp here the other day.
That's booking.
Yeah.
1,500 rush yards as a sophomore.
with 25 touchdowns, while also catching 44 passes for 500 yards and two touchdowns in the slot,
in addition to batting 470 with 39 hits and 20 RBI for the baseball team,
and guys knows what else.
Kid can do it all.
Vince knows what he's doing.
His grandpa can make a good pizza.
His grandpa can make a great pizza.
But definitely named to watch, and I know he's already well-known around Owensboro.
All right, well, take our break.
We come back.
We're going to switch to a little high school basketball.
Tyler Doyle, big star here in town and also on the Kentucky.
All-Star teams going to talk about the Kentucky upcoming Kentucky Indiana All-Star game.
We'll get new thoughts on that.
Tell you how you can go.
It's here in Lexington.
It's at Lexington Catholic High School.
So all that's coming up.
A little bit later when we come back.
Ryan Drew and Shannon, 859-2-2-287.

in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests.
I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark.
Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped.
up in the chase, that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you
hear on earth.
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.
Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about.

This is Clivert Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
All right, welcome back.
Ryan Drew and Shannon here, Kentucky Sports Radio, live at KAS Bar and Grill.
I've got a couple people on the lines.
We want to get to them real quick.
The phone number, the Clark's Publishout phone number is 859-280-287.
So who we got first, Shannon?
Doug.
Doug.
Doug, go ahead, Doug.
Okay, I have a question for Shannon.
All right.
His musical group is known as Alice Bluegown.
Is that correct?
Yes.
Okay, I was reading the Stephen King book.
and in his book he mentions Alice Bluegown.
Is there any symbolism with, where did you come up with that name?
Is there some kind of symbolism to it?
No, no, I didn't even know that.
No, the Alice Bluegown name goes back to like an old fighter jet that was used in World War II,
and it was called the Alice Blue Gown.
So that's what that name comes from.
Okay, I don't remember the context where Stephen King used it,
But it was, he mentioned out of his blue gown.
I just wonder if there was something to it.
No, Doug.
Maybe I'll use that, though, in the future and say that it is.
Thank you, Doug.
Thank you, Doug.
Appreciate it.
I think Stephen King wrote about Andy's book because of your band.
Oh, well, I think one came before the other.
Who's next?
Let's get up one more than we get our special guest on.
Who we got?
Okay, let's go to Andy.
Andy, go ahead, Andy.
Hey, what's up, guys?
Hey, Andy, how you doing?
Hey, doing good.
Just a couple quick things.
I just want to give a shout out to Casey.
Today's her birthday.
Happy birthday.
Casey, fellas.
Yep, today's her birthday.
And I wanted to tell you, just to satisfy my curiosity, I wouldn't listen to baby reindeer over the weekend.
Oh, boy.
It's like Caliperi says.
It isn't for everybody.
No, it's not.
It is not.
I thought you were kind of exaggerating after I just listened to the first episode, I was like, well, it's real bad.
And then it just, you know, went where it went and just got crazier every episode.
And there was times I was thinking, well, I didn't have no eyesight.
Amen.
Me too.
I can imagine.
So.
Andy, we'll, all right, buddy.
You doing okay?
Yeah, doing good.
Okay, come see us.
We'll see you.
KSpar.
I will see.
I will see all soon.
All right.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
All right.
Coming up this weekend, Drew, at Lexington Calick High School is the Kentucky, Indiana,
high school all-star basketball game.
Yep.
Girls play the first game at 530,
boys play the second game at 7.30.
So it's rare to have the all-star game, you know, here in town.
Yeah, and this is a game going long, way, way, way, way back.
We want to make sure we always beat up on those Hoosiers.
And joining us now is one of the members of the Kentucky High School All-Star team,
Lexington Catholic star Tyler.
Doyle. Tyler, how you doing, man?
Good, good. Thanks for having me.
You guys got a pretty good squad, it looks like, put together this year.
Yeah, we got a good squad.
We've practiced with each other a few times and had a few.
scrimmages and you know we're looking good and ready to go out and play Friday and Saturday.
What are some of those practices like where are you doing them? He was scrimmaged it against.
I think you played against the did a senior junior game. Just kind of walk us through what the
preparation's been like as the game approaches here this week. Yeah last weekend we played the juniors
which was a fun game and then you know in practice we've just gone over a few plays
scrimmaged a lot, found lineups that weren't for our team and who plays well together.
And then, you know, I think we have a good squad and we're prepared to, you know, go out and play Friday and Saturday.
What does it mean for you to be able to do?
You know, you're not just representing Lexington Catholic and Lexington.
You're representing the state of Kentucky this weekend.
Yeah, I mean, it's a great honor.
Not many kids get the opportunity to do this.
So, you know, I've took it all in.
It's been really fun.
And, you know, I'm excited to go out there and play.
You're probably playing in games and showcases all the time.
Tom, some meaning more than others.
But with this being Kentucky, Indiana,
do you all feel a little more like we've got to win this for the bluegrass?
Because we didn't have that college rivalry for several years,
and now we've got to rely on the high school teams to beat up on the Hoosiers.
Yeah, we do for sure.
Our coach has emphasized, you know, sweeping Indiana because it's something,
I don't know how long it's been, but it's been a long time since we've swept them.
So, you know, that's something we really want to do.
You got Travis Perry on your team?
What's it been like to play with him so far?
It's been good, you know, obviously he's going to the U.K., you know,
great player and it's been fun playing with him you know he makes the game easier you know he's a great shooter
easy to play with for sure what about your high school coaches i feel like uh brandon sawsman you got
matt heisenbuttal here they might be holding you back a little bit i won't say that but we know
them and well you're wondering if what if they're holding your ceiling down just a little bit but no in all
seriously as we know those guys what's it been like coming up to that lexton catholic program
you were named first team all state uh this past season in addition to all your other accolades
just being a part of that school with a lot of tradition in their basketball.
Yeah, it's been amazing.
I came here my junior year, and the past two years have been amazing.
They've really helped me as a player and as a person.
And it was a great move for me, and I'm excited to get to college for sure.
And when you go to Bellarmine, you already got an Lexington Catholic kid.
Ben Johnson, he's there.
Do you all have a strong relationship?
Did he play a role in their recruitment as well?
Was Scotty Davenport calling you up?
I wasn't here whenever Ben was at Catholic, so I don't know him as well.
but I've worked out with him a few times for sure.
I'll definitely stay in contact with him a little bit,
and it'll be fun to play with him for sure.
That Lexington connection won't hurt over in the city level.
So you play the All-Star game on Friday,
then I ask you, so when do you go to Billerman?
Sunday.
So I play Friday, we play Saturday in Indianapolis,
and then I leave Sunday morning.
No rest for the weary right there.
Looking forward to getting to college, taking that next step up.
For sure.
I think it'll be really fun.
I'm super excited for sure.
Has he told you much about how that system will work
and how you'll fit in?
When I went on my visits, you know, the past few years, I've practiced in scrimmage with them a little bit.
So I've kind of, you know, got to experience it a little bit, but it'll for sure be an adjustment, but I'm excited for it.
Now, the All-Star format is usually a lot of offense, not a whole lot of defense.
You know, you guys just run up down the floor.
Do you expect that's the way it's going to be this weekend, or do you guys get going, you know, trying to really put the clamp down on Indiana?
No, I don't think it would be like that at all.
It's a game both teams want to win, and, you know, it's obviously a historic all.
our game.
So both teams definitely want to win, and we're going to try regardless.
So it'll be a fun game.
Ryan mentioned Travis Perry.
That's a name.
A lot of people know because he's going to Kentucky.
But his Lion County teammates there, a lot of great players throughout the state.
Are there anyone you're close to or anyone you've played with or anyone else you want to brag on
right now?
Do you expect to play well in that game coming up?
We've got a few guards that are really good.
Quilron House from Seneca will play really well.
Max Green.
Max Green, yeah.
He's very good.
He scores the ball at very high rate.
And then, you know, we've got a few other bigs and Aidan Evans and Mason Vitter who are also really well.
And then, you know, the whole bench, the whole team is really good.
Now, tickets are available at the door, but you can also order ahead of time at Kentucky Basketball Coaches.
That right, Scott?
Kentucky Basketball Coaches.org.
They will have tickets available at the door.
The girls' games at 530.
The boys' game at 730 at Lexington Catholic High School.
So since the baseball team's not playing now until Saturday, you need something on Friday.
Go watch the Kentucky All-Star Team.
kick a little butt.
A little home game for the Kentucky team.
I see no reason why we shouldn't pack that place out Friday night.
It was nice of the baseball to even say, you know what, NCAA, push us off to Saturday,
Sunday, Monday, because we want to all be at Lexington Catholic to beat Indiana.
Didn't you used to be a really good baseball player?
I used to be all right.
I think you were really good baseball player.
I think when you were younger, baseball was more your sport.
It was, it was.
So when did you decide to give that up and just go all basketball?
So we had a travel group that stuck together until we were 12, and then once we were
kind of all split up. I kind of just chose to go basketball.
Yeah.
Yeah. Was there a moment where you, like, fell in love with basketball, or did you just kind of
realize that it was kind of the direction you were headed with your skill?
I never really worked out basketball much, but it always kind of be like, it was kind of a
better sport for me. So I felt like, you know, if I put in the work, you know, I could probably
go further in basketball.
Is there a guy you've kind of molded your game after?
Not really.
A few people have, you know, told me I've played, like, Tyre's Hallibur and people like that.
Yeah.
I haven't really boarded my game after anyone specifically.
Are you keeping up with the NBA playoffs?
That comes like you mentioned.
Halliburton, he had a quick exit, but got a couple teams left.
Are you a Boston or a Dallas guy?
You're going to give us a prediction?
I like watching Luca play a lot.
He has been unreal.
They're the dog coming up, but I'm watching the Mavs too.
Luca's been special.
We want to see PJ get a ring.
Well, dude, you had a great career.
I mean, we've enjoyed watching your play here growing up through the ranks.
You know, I have a son about the same year.
So I've seen you play since middle school,
and I knew you played against you in baseball.
So congratulations.
You had a great year at Lexington Catholic,
and I know you do great things at Bellarmine.
Yes, sir.
Thank you.
All right.
Get it done Friday, then you're just getting started.
Good college career ahead.
Tyler Doyle, the Kentucky High School All-Star Team will be at Lexington Catholic on Friday night.
Go check them out.
Tickets at the door.
Also at Kentucky Basketballcoaches.org.
We'll take our break.
We'll come back.
Go back to phone lines.

Kentucky Sports Radio, Ryan Drew and Shannon.
Kentucky-branded sports line.
Clark's Pumpin Shop phone line is 859-2-802-287.
Do you want to call and get a board?
We've got a couple calls we want to get to you right now.
So who we got, Shannon?
Let's go to Gasman.
Gasman.
Go ahead, Gas Man.
I'm a Gasman.
Hey, guys, what's going on?
How are you, Gas Man?
Doing good.
I just wanted to say, I'm glad to have you all back today,
and how much I appreciate you guys entertaining me three hours
every day.
I drive my fuel truck for Kentucky
petroleum supply, so I throw my
hands-free headset on every day
and drive around New Circle
and Versailles and delivered
all the farms stuff, so I appreciate
you guys entertaining me.
What I want to talk about was
how about that Kentucky baseball thing?
Man, I'll tell you what I am.
I am pumped about them.
Also, this morning, I'm pretty sure
you guys are talking about some
radio movies. How about
Good morning, Vietnam.
That's right. Yeah, Robin Williams.
It's a good movie.
And last, I wanted to say something about bingo.
So it's been in my family forever.
I'm 45 years old, and ever since I was a little kid,
instead of playing cards,
and my family gets together and play bingo.
I remember days, they'd have these hardboard bingo cards,
and my granny and my papa, they would use peanuts
to put on the cards to mark the numbers.
So it goes way back for me.
Now, back in the day, they had the, at that time,
we had the wheel, you know, that you turned at the ball's point.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
You know, it was pretty primitive then.
But even today, me and my aunts and cousins and stuff get together
and stuff, instead of playing cards, we play bingo.
But today, we actually use the doggers,
and you can buy the little sheep that you dobb and stuff
and just don't the way.
As a matter of fact, you guys don't need to pay anybody
to come and be a caller.
There is actually an app
that will do all the calling for you
and will randomly
do the numbers and you just have to tell them out.
All right. Well, we appreciate it, Gassman.
Thanks for the phone call.
But this guy's got his own business
and he's got his own speakers
and he's got his own cards and his own dobbers.
So we're going to go with him for bingo tonight.
I got a good Rascal Flats update.
Oh.
What's it, Gary Guy?
Gary LaVox.
Would you like to know where his name?
The next tour stop is?
Please tell me.
Mount Vernon, Kentucky.
No, it's not.
Rinfro Valley.
He'll be there later this month.
No way.
What is up with this show?
We just talked about how no one has heard from him in so long, and he's in Kentucky in a couple weeks.
Well, who was the country music singer?
We said it was the third down song that Matt wanted to play, and he ended up playing down there in Riftrow
Marty Stewart.
Marty Stewart, thank you.
Have we done our ICQ update on the show?
No, what is that update?
Like two days after I recognize that sound.
Yes.
ICQ shut down after decades of being in service.
There is no denying the KSR jinx.
There is absolutely 100% something behind it.
ICQ made it from the mid-1990s until a couple days after we mentioned it.
And it's still two weeks ago.
It's out. I got a text I got to read.
There it is. RIP.
From the A-Vision Glass text machine.
This is from our good buddy Alan Stein with the Lexington Legends.
Go Legends.
Birmingham Southern played at Legends Field.
in the NCAA Division 3 regional a couple weeks ago.
That's when the media caught wind of the story.
NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt did a feature on them from the ballpark.
This year?
This year, just a couple of weeks ago.
How did we let that?
How did we miss that?
We failed as show preppers.
That's your wheelhouse.
Legends, baseball, Lester Holt.
I thought you'd be the first person everyone would call about this feature that he did.
And here's another Birmingham Southern Connection to Lexington.
They're coached by Jan Weinberg.
Former UK baseball player and Keith Madison assistant coach at UK.
We had Keith last week.
We could have been doing all these answers.
How about that?
We're bad at our jobs.
Clark Publishop.
Phone line 859-8-9-2-287.
Who's next, Shannon?
Eli.
Eli, go ahead, Eli.
First off, I just want to say to Drew, go Trojans.
Okay.
Go Trojans.
Is it Webster County?
Is it Webster County?
Yeah, Webster County.
Hey, neighbor.
Go Maroons.
Secondly, who do you think the size the jerseys?
when football does Chrome or, like, alternate jerseys.
For football?
Yeah.
That is a good question.
Because I've heard like this.
How much player input?
There's a little.
There's a little player input where they,
but I think does the ultimate decision come down to the coaches?
You've got equipment manager.
He's got decades of experience.
Ask Dane.
Text Dane.
Say, who picks the jerseys?
I'm just sitting here wondering.
Say, Dane, I'm sitting by the pool wondering who picks the jerseys.
We'll work on that.
We'll get to the answer by the end of the show,
right buddy he hung up oh yeah who picked the kutucky wesley and baseball jerseys you would wear did you only
have like one that you we had one pair of pants and two different jerseys but who picked it
each i mean was it just one home one away yes because see we had like at bellarmine for baseball we
had alternate jerseys and stuff and our coach would pick he'd say we're going to go with this hat
this jersey these pants oh we had one hat one pants and two jerseys one home jersey one away jersey
that was before the alternates and everything else
Before all that, yeah.
So 859, 2802-287.
Let's get another one, Chanon.
Who we got?
Kentucky Joe.
Kentucky Joe.
Go ahead.
Kentucky Joe.
Hey, the first thing, well, I'm doing my melt-tell.
But I want to apologize, Drew.
I mean, you know, the title for the song yesterday.
And also, I hope I won two left, you know, to you all.
I wish we could have turned it up, Joe.
It wasn't loud enough.
I'm sorry.
I heard you.
Speak for yourself.
Joe, the main thing is I'm glad you're doing well.
I know you went through some health issues,
but to see you at the ball game and dancing and calling in and singing makes me happy.
Multiple baseball games.
Oh, yeah.
Hey, I had a great time.
I guess Coachman, Joe, it's going to be on.
Is he going to be on today?
not our show
not unless you set it up
unless you called him
and set it up
well we'll have it if you want to call him
I'm sorry
are you going to the super regional Joe
I didn't get tickets
it's going to be hard
Drew it's going to be hard
okay well I'm glad we got to do the region
together I got I got
I got transportation
problems I love to be up for
and I would be
probably probably be
probably be
probably be probably be probably be probably be probably be probably be probably be
Probably be in my element.
Oh, in your element.
You're always in your element.
You know, I think you all know.
Yeah.
Well, maybe somebody can help him out.
If somebody wants to have a ticket for Joe, drive Joe, bring him back.
I mean, it's a big commitment.
I know that people step up before.
Serenaded the whole way there, you know.
That's right.
That's right.
And my gosh, you'd be serenaded.
But I'll tell you, probably next week I'll call you.
I'm about ready to do a bat.
a good bat cat's fan song so oh okay so every day joe i'm sorry i'm sorry for yesterday i
no it was good it was good it was good appreciate joe thanks for calling glad you're doing okay
buddy all right thank you i have a friend you all you have a good day thank you i have a friend with
a store downtown food shop uh he was teaching people about fudge and he had ksr on and he said that it
was just blasting kentucky joe and he couldn't mute it so he and his customers just had to sit there
and listen to kentucky joe hope
that happened all over the state.
There's something about a Kentucky Joe song.
It can make you happy.
At the same time, it'll make your ears hurt.
Yesterday's got it got pretty intense there for a few seconds.
It did.
It was good for Myron.
I think to get to the full Kentucky Joe experience.
I do want to hit on this before we get out of here at the top of the hour.
The CBS classic games were announced.
Kentucky will play Ohio State and North Carolina will play UCLA.
We've kind of had trouble in this CBS Classics.
over the years, Drew.
Yeah, and the big news is it's on December 21st.
They move it back a year or week, so it's closer to Christmas.
Ohio State, we have Aaron Bradshaw and Joel Justice.
This is a big game up there in the garden.
If we're being honest, I was hoping we would be done with this event.
Yes.
It's never really gotten the crowds.
It's Ohio State respectfully.
And they've struggled.
Yeah, I mean, Ohio State's won some in here, but it's Ohio State.
I mean, they're football.
I mean, I'd like to go.
I might go, we'll see, but the Aaron Bradshaw connection,
I guess that's what makes this game interesting.
