Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes,
Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What?
Time out. Look. Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

Now here's Matt Jones.
All right, good morning, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.
Welcome to this Thursday edition of Kentucky Sports Radio.
D-Day here in America, one of the greatest days in American history.
Shout out to all the folks who served in the military.
By the way, Shannon, there's still 11 guys alive that went through the Normandy invasion.
Yeah.
11.
That was 80 years ago.
The average age is 100 years old.
But those are some true, I mean, we throw around the word hero a lot.
Those guys were the true heroes.
Amen.
Amen.
So celebrate your D-Day today.
We are live on the road.
And as always, Kentucky Sports Radio, brought to you by the T.J. Smith Law Office called T.
He'll make them pay.
We'll have our Whiskey Thief Song of the Day.
We'll have our Kentucky branded tweet of the day, and the Clark's Pummshop phone line will be open.
859-280-287.
That's 859-280-287.
Ryan, Drew, Shannon, Billy.
And tell us where we're at, Shannon.
Well, we are at a better brewing.
A better brewing.
In Winchester, Kentucky.
How about that?
We're starting our KSR Business Spotlight Summer Tour starts today, Drew Franklin.
And we're in Funchester, Kentucky at A Better Brewing, thanks to the Winchester,
Chamber of Commerce.
Cuthchester.
I'm more of a Wind City on the Winchester.
The games both play, but it is great to be here.
We've got some nice weather, nice breeze coming through here,
and I already have a flight in front of us to just sample the product while we're on the air.
So I heard you guys talk about this on the pre-show.
Explain what's going on here, Billy.
We were drinking what was it sampling the beer cheese and having a little beer,
but we were doing one a segment.
We may have to slow down a little bit for KSR, but my goal is to stay upright for this show.
Yeah, careful.
So we got four beers, four beers, four beers.
cheese which pairs with each beer.
So the beer cheese we have was made with the beer that it's paired with.
Don't get them mixed up.
Okay.
So let's do it.
I mean, we have four of them.
We'll do one every 30 minutes then.
Sips.
Sips.
Yes.
Sips.
We're not going to pound beers on the show today.
No.
Well, it's a little early for a power hour.
Yeah.
Winchester, Chamber of Commerce have already had their beer cheese week.
And the winner of their beer cheese week, we're going to get to sample it also later in the show.
I'm excited about that.
I'm looking forward to it.
These are they've already brought out.
I've already sampled them.
They're really good, but I can't wait to taste the winter a little bit later on.
I didn't know about all this beer cheese.
I love beer cheese.
I regret not wearing my sweatpants, but I might make a whole afternoon of this.
There's just going to be beer cheese everywhere.
Well, hold on.
There's more.
The Winchester Chamber of Commerce Saturday.
Tomorrow is Beer Cheese Festival Day up and down Main Street in Winchester,
where you can walk up and down, sample all these different kind of beer cheeses.
So, Drew, you can wear your pants then.
Today's Thursday.
It's two days from now.
Two days today.
But I might just start the whole time.
Today is Thursday.
It feels weird having a Thursday remote.
It does.
Even this morning, I got ready to head to KS.
Bar.
Step outside.
You're in my driveway, ready to leave.
So our calendar is a little different
this summer, but excited to do this,
the KSR Business Spotlight Tour.
KSR business.
Spotlight Tour.
Our best shows are when we're out and about,
and it's good to get it started here.
Before we go too far, can I just say something
about the A-Vision Glass Text Machine?
Let's make it a whole segment.
Look at it.
Nice and shiny.
Number one, this is a, yes, very nice, new shiny iPhone.
Yes, look at that.
Would you, for the love of God, please get some sort of case.
That's very, because I know you're clumsy, you're going to drop it, you're going to break this brand new iPhone.
You've got to be careful with that.
Number two, Amanda's got the number on the back.
Like, I got a little piece of white paper taped to the back of the phone.
Remind me in my grandparents, like they have, like, on the back of the remote control, like, where to watch their favorite TV shows, like how to get to it.
You got it taped on the bat.
That's right.
And it's also taped on the case that the phone came in, the box.
So I can only remember it.
So listen, do you guys, do you guys remember the A-Vision Glass Tech Machine?
No, we don't have to?
It's on there.
Don't you wish you had it taped to your phone?
You knew what it was?
That's your job.
You're the host.
502-735-36-80.
I could probably take the tape off now, but I want it further for you guys.
So if you're looking for it, you can.
Shane, you're talking to the guy who used to write his PIN number on the back of his debit card.
That's that's real
Is that a real story?
Oh yeah
So just in case he lost it
Whoever found it would have a four-digit code on the back
To go get whatever they'd like
We are in the second week of Ryan having the text line
And he was still asking Mario
How do he get to the text messages on it?
You know I love old people
Love old people
But that is such an old person move
To have the number taped to the back of the phone
I'll never forget it
Because it's right there in front of me
I don't have any problem with that at all whatsoever
So you know in this day and age
We used to know all of our friends and parents.
Still remember my best friend's phone number, like the landline.
But do you know Billy's?
No.
See?
Have you called?
You talk to Billy all the time?
We don't know each other's phone numbers.
True.
Guess what?
I won't forget this one because it's taped to the back of my phone.
I love that it's taped on the back.
All right, a lot has happened in the last 24 hours.
It's kind of a lot of little news stories.
One of them kind of broke this morning.
I think we've got to start to show with, Drew.
The Lakers talking to Danny Hurley about their vacant head coaching job.
What was your take?
on that it went
broke this morning.
Quite the
Woge bomb
that dropped
earlier this morning.
It was just
maybe yesterday
or the day
before Shams.
You know,
you got Wodge and Shams.
They're the scoopers.
He was pretty much
saying it was all but
done with J.J.
Reddick, which we've
talked about on the show,
it's been looking that way
for at least a week
that that was J.J.
Reddick's job, and they're
just waiting for him
to get through his
obligations with the finals.
But we wake up to
looks like they're
maybe making a final move
on Hurley, which is
just after Kentucky
was trying to do this
a few months ago.
It's just a wild turn of
events and it sets the coaching carousel in a frenzy.
I mean, it's so late in the process if you're Yukon, if he leaves you for the Lakers,
I don't know who you go get.
I mean, Kentucky was in with a lot of recruits that chose Yukon.
Can we call them for that last roster spot?
It's just a scenario that I don't think anyone really saw coming.
And if Hurley goes through with it, that kind of turns basketball upside down for
the rest of the summer.
Billy, Kentucky backed up the Brinks truck for Danny Hurley and he decided to stay at Yukon.
Do you think there's any chance the Lakers could lure him out of there?
Sure. I think there's been reports that he's always had NBA aspirations, so he's eventually looking to make that jump.
But did the Lakers check with LeBron James? Because I've never seen a franchise more beholdant to one player than the Lakers have been lately.
I mean, they're going to possibly draft his son who shouldn't even be drafted.
I mean, how many coaches has LeBron gotten fired already with his time at the Lakers?
So, you know, I don't know. He has publicly said that he loves the things that Danny Hurley does, and maybe that's all the Lakers needed to hear.
So, Shannon, if it happens, if the Lakers can get Danny Hurley out of Yukon,
does Yukon call John Calipari?
I don't know.
Can you leave a school and you're not even moved into a house yet if you're John Calipari?
It makes it easier to leave.
You know, I guess there is an argument to be made for that.
If you're Danny Hurley, though, I mean, you know, Lakers, what, top five jobs in basketball?
We were talking about this earlier on the pre-show.
I mean, it's hard to turn that down.
Of course, he turned down Kentucky in our mind, that's one of the top five jobs in basketball, too, both college and pros.
So it all depends.
But if I'm him, though, unless it is a huge amount of money, and I don't know, Danny Hurley's probably making enough money to where he's set for life anyway, right?
Do you leave a job where you can retire at, right?
He's got job security probably for the rest of his career.
Yes.
Take a chance to go to the NBA.
If you have aspirations to go to the NBA, maybe you do it for that reason.
But, you know, you go to the NBA.
Your job's not safe there.
You could be, you know, if you fell in two or three years, you're out where you could have stayed at a place.
and retired there, kind of like Rick Petino's situation
when he went to Boston in the 90s.
So it's interesting to see what's going to happen.
I just think pro jobs are so much more attractive now
with NCAA is upside down and crumbling.
You've got the portal, you're having to recruit.
Not just in the summer in designated periods,
you're recruiting 24-7, 365.
So it might not even be about the money.
It's like, I just want to coach basketball.
And in the NBA, you got a GM who does all that.
They give you your roster.
You coach them.
Do you even coach?
You have your summers.
Yeah, yeah.
You're more like a man-out.
In football, we've seen head coaches go be coordinators in the NFL.
I think people are just going to take opportunities as much they can to go pro.
And if it's the Lakers and you just gave Yukon two titles, I mean, what more do you want for me?
I'd say, there you go.
Nice knowing you.
I'll always love you, but I'm going to go try something new.
So if Yukon's in that situation where they have to get a coached it's so late in the process,
Caliperi's name will probably come up.
But Drew, you brought up another name in the car just before we pulled up.
That may be a possibility.
If Cal Perry didn't have that night in Arizona in the hotel room with Chicken Man and that close relationship with Tyson,
I wouldn't rule it out for him to just be like, Brad, get in the plane.
We're out of here.
But he's got the chicken ties.
I don't think Cal would do it.
And there's just so many coaches have their roster.
It's done.
Guys are, as we're seeing in Lexington moving into their dorms right now, it will be hard to pull a coach away from anywhere.
You can't even have that much money.
So I think they're in it.
He'll be leaving them outside of.
Leaving them with two titles, he's putting them in a bad spot moving forward.
Rick Petino.
That was it.
That could be an option.
Oh, Ricky Pee.
Can't you see Petino pulling up like, yep, I'm out of here?
I don't think you could pull a big name away from a school where they're already set,
because that's putting them in a tough spot, leaving somewhere in the middle of the, or beginning of the summer,
and jumping into a place where it's a little too late to recruit.
So they'd have to go down a notch, and if you do that, and you're looking at that tier, that name sticks out.
Yes, it does.
Yep.
It's the name we were kind of excited about.
A couple months ago, right?
That's right.
Or a month or two ago, yeah.
It is, it will be hard on Yukon if he leaves them in mid-June.
Because those players will have a chance to leave,
but then you won't really have an opportunity to go out and get any players
because they're already at their schools.
Now, I heard you guys say that in a pre-show.
A player would have 30 days.
If the coach leaves, you'd have 30 days to potentially leave to go to another school.
A 30-day window for the kids to transfer wherever they wanted after a coaching change.
And, you know, Drew alluded that.
to that. I mean, there's a lot of guys that Kentucky was looking at that would possibly
jump back into that portal. I think you call Liam McNeely, the freshman you lost. The other
ones, I don't know, I mean, maybe, but you're... You probably have a good chance with him
of looting him away. They lost the guard, Mahaney. I don't know if he's interested. I mean,
the back court's kind of set in Lexington, but it's worth making some phone calls if that happens.
But the UConn players have 30 days to go where they want.
Yukon doesn't have 30 days to pull kids from somewhere else. They'll be stuck pretty bad if
he leaves them. You're watching a team that has a dynasty
just potentially crumble, like in one
day if he decides to go to the Lakers.
Yeah. It's going to be crazy.
It is going to be crazy. It could happen to a better
group of people. Keep your eye on it in the next
couple of days, see what happens there. All right, we are live
at A Better Brewery in Winchester.
The Surprise Pop-Up Show on our KSR Summer Spotlight Tour.
You're welcome to come by. We can't say no.
We're not going to advertise these and tell people
where we are in advance, but once we start
the show, welcome to come by,
sample their brewery that they've got here.
beer cheese and we're going to match our beer cheese with our beer in the next segment
Shannon.
Billy and I already got a head start on you too.
So you got some catching.
You got a favorite?
We need to know about it?
Yes, blonde on blonde, which I thought immediately would be my favorite.
And it was after I tried it.
It was great.
It was delicious.
All right.
Possum detainment was another good one that we like.
But that's the one that's got the jalapino beer cheese.
Is that right?
It's a little spicier on the beer cheese on that one.
All right.
All right.
So big thanks to the Winchester Chamber of Commerce.
We'll take our break.
Go to the phone line, 859-280-2-287.
Ryan, Drew, Shannon, Billy. We'll be right back on Kentucky Sports Radio.

Kentucky Sports Radio live at a Better Brewing in Winchester, Kentucky, Funchester.
Thanks to the Winchester Chamber of Commerce for bringing us out.
First stop on our KSR Business Spotlight Summer Tour.
We'll be all across different places throughout the summer.
You ever know where we're going to be, Shan?
We're just going to pop up and just do a show somewhere.
I was telling Billy, like back in the 90s, it was really popular for bands to just do a secret show.
And I kind of feel like this is our secret show.
You know, we're just going to pop up somewhere and then here we are.
Now, I've got a text here on the A Vision Glass text machine, which, by the way, I know the number two because it's on the back of my phone.
502-735-3680.
There's no tin roof near Yukon, so that might be appealing to Cal.
Since right now he's living on top of a bar, boom-ch-a-boom-ch-ch-boom-chik-boom, him and Brad every night here and that for they go to bed.
Yeah, you could probably find some bars in Yukon.
I really think if circumstances were just a little bit different, Cal would maybe.
we want his name in that mix.
Get up in the Northeast, not be in Arkansas.
I think so, too.
Just normal things.
I think so.
He's been there for, what, a month?
Has it been a month?
Two months?
What's the timeline on this?
It was mid-April?
Yeah.
It feels like four years ago.
Yeah, it does.
Now, somebody brought up a good point also on the aviation glass text machine.
It's a good thing we didn't get Hurley, because now Hurley may leave us, go to the
left UK to go to the Lakers.
Could you see that as a possible blessing in disguise?
Maybe, but if he were to take a job and then immediately take a job and then immediately
take another job. I think that would speak a lot about, you know, his character than it would,
you know, somebody getting screwed. So is his wife okay with this move? I mean, we know the wives
hold a lot of power when it comes to these decisions. It's quite the culture shock from
Yukon to L.A. You're been to L.A.? It should be all right. It's pretty nice out there.
And there's nothing in Hartford, in Connecticut, right? It's kind of a dull town outside of ESPN studios.
Some people might have it as the 50th Worth State. I know not all of you ranked at that low,
but it's pretty bad also. Now, while we're talking to Coach,
Kyle, we have to bring up who he's scheduled to play next year, Drew.
He announced that Arkansas will play Oakland.
Of all teams that he puts on his new schedule at Arkansas, he picked Oakland.
It's one of those yesterday where the report came out.
You have to go to your Twitter account and double and triple check to make sure it's real
because you don't believe what you're reading.
But it has now been reported a couple times.
I don't think Arkansas has officially said it, but it's been reported enough that it seems
to be happening that the Oakland Grizzlies, Cal wants to run it back.
I have no idea why the risk reward there doesn't seem to line up.
I feel like if he beats them, everybody's going to be like, well, now you beat them.
And if you lose, you were the guy that went 0-and-2 against Oakland.
But if that's what he wants to do, you know, Golky's gone.
That's the key.
He's selling cars now.
Trey Townsend, their best player, he transferred.
I think he's in Arizona now.
It's a different Oakland.
I still, if it were me, I would just want to move on from that part of my life.
not even have to have that storyline around me ever again.
I would never schedule Oakland again for the rest of my coaching career,
power Calipari, after losing that game.
But yeah, you're right.
I mean, you don't have to worry about Jack Golky coming back and going off on you.
So I guess maybe this is his redemption tour.
What's the motive there, really?
That's it.
Because if you beat them, no one's going to be like, yeah, you got them.
They're just going, okay.
Let's throw St. Peters on there while we're at it.
Play a double-header.
Oakland, St. Peter's double-header.
Billy, I think it's doing it on purpose, just kind of rub it in our faces again.
I think he's like, I'm going to bring Oakland in and I'm going to beat him.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, that sort of thing.
I guess because I can't think of the motivation either.
There is a degree of separation now that he's gone from Kentucky.
If he were to lose again to Oakland, then it's more of a cow thing than it is Kentucky being embarrassed by Oakland.
So maybe that's a good thing.
But head scratching, no doubt.
I mean, he could have more losses to Oakland than national championships.
Why even have that opportunity out there?
Just move on.
No one is making you play them.
They didn't play St. Peters the year after that last night.
We focus on Cal, I will feel a little, like I will want Arkansas to lose,
but I won't want DJ Wagner and a Dutheero and Big Z to fill that again.
So I'm a little conflicted.
If Cal went O and 2, I'm going to giggle a little bit.
But the players, I actually think will be very motivated,
and I would want them to play well.
So when we do think about the Arkansas rivalry,
I still have a soft spot for the guys that played here.
Now, some folks just brought in the Kentucky High School State Championship trophy
that GRC won in 2020.
23.
22.
The trophy.
Can you see, can you read that?
That's my lacy.
Able-Aze.
See, Drew and I both have LASIC.
Yeah, see, San knows.
Goodness.
22, right there.
2022 state champions.
GRC, they brought the trophy in for us to look at,
and that's when they got the name.
You keep calling it Win City.
That's where it came from.
Win City.
You call it Funchester.
I call it Win City.
You say tomato, I say tomato.
But it's a nice looking trophy.
I don't know that I've ever been up close to that.
I might just, is it, are you allowed to tap it?
Or is it one of those?
I think it's got the do not touch.
That's a little thing next to it.
Yeah.
I'll just get within reach.
Photo a lot.
Awesome.
Yeah.
Which kind of reminds me, every time we go to a new city, we always try to bring up the great players and great history.
Oh, we want to read that one.
Girls' 2024.
Can you not read that again?
Basketball region champions.
There you go.
The GRC lady cards, 2024 that just this past season.
So there you go.
So congratulations to GRC.
I've trying to think of some great athletes that it came from GRC and Clark County.
Jeremiah Bell, football player.
Great story.
walked on at EKU.
Roy Kidd took him as a walk-on.
He ends up playing for the Miami Dolphins.
He went from a walk-on to EKU
to playing like five or six years in the NFL
with the Miami Dolphins.
Matt Ginter, a pitcher from GRC,
pitched at Mississippi State.
He then pitching the big leagues for like the White Sox,
I think the Red Sox, maybe a couple other teams there.
But the one guy I wanted to talk about,
a Titan and a legend in this town
just passed away two weeks ago.
His name was Guy Strong.
and he represented everything this community was all about.
He, listen to this, Shannon.
Yeah.
He played at University of Kentucky's National Championship team in 1951.
He then went to serve in the Korean War, then came back and played his final year of eligibility at EKU.
I mean, can you imagine players doing that today?
What happened?
Three years of college basketball, you leave to go serve in the war, and then you come back and finish out your career playing college basketball.
And that wasn't that long ago.
This was like in the early 50s.
So our parents were alive when this was going on.
Yeah, that's something that would never happen now,
and I'm sure a guy who has seen it all when you do that, right?
So just not like that anymore, right?
Then he went on to coach Kentucky Wesleyan to their first ever national championship.
Shout out, first of eight national titles, by the way, in case you're keeping track.
Coached at EKU, he coached at Oklahoma State, came back, was the high school coach here.
So just, we just need to take a moment because he is.
Mr. Winchester and Mr. Clark County and he was a good man. I got to meet him a couple
times so sad to see he'd passed away a couple weeks ago. Yeah legend around here
nice tribute to him. I should have said bring Canada before you did all that I wanted to
work him in too that's true it's a recent one now there's some argument about him
wouldn't he like he's from Mount Sterling buddy I don't want to get into all that
he went to GRC I don't want to I don't know from Mount Sterling but he went
to okay you're the one that knows all that inside baseball there what so
where did he end up going is he like in
Went to the University of Kentucky to play basketball.
And then he learned the business world?
I don't know about that.
I don't know what he's doing now.
He was just on this last team.
So he's fresh off the college career.
And we can't forget Andrew Rogers.
Andrew Rogers.
A non-athlete that succeeds in athletics, making sure DeMarcus is out there winning titles.
Andrew Rogers was the guy that used to sneak into Rupp Arena by wearing a dip that would find out what arm band.
Don't give away a secrets now.
They were wearing to get in.
And he had like 20 of them in his house.
Oh, here comes the train.
I heard Shannon and Billy
talking about this during the pregame show
The train that goes by
My man, my man.
Billy, can you make sure that train
doesn't go by during when the show goes by?
Yeah, I'll work on that.
So, 859-2-287.
That's our phone number if you want to call and get on board.
So let's try our first one.
We're going to go left or right.
Yeah, try it for the first time.
There it is.
There it is.
They must be loud out.
The servesa.
What is that word?
Comples.
Cervasa accomplice.
You've got to dip the pretzel in the beer cheese
and then take the drink.
Is that the heck?
You're supposed to do it?
We've been indulging for hours now, so.
You do it however you want to do it.
Choose your own adventure.
That beer cheese is good.
The servaic accomplice.
You can be good on a food show.
It's just crunch and gulp here.
Okay, that's a good one.
I like that one.
Did you try it?
I did I've had a few?
I mean, maybe.
Did you not try it again?
No, no, no.
We're just sipping over here.
So I'm being responsible.
Well, we have to pick a winner when it's all over between these four, I guess.
Well, I mean, we already have the winner.
It's coming late.
Later on, the beer cheese.
The beer cheese week winner is coming.
We're going to try.
Yeah, the Beal on Wheels, who is a partner with our better brewery.
So they won the best beer cheese, and we'll have some of that later.
And then they're going to crown another beer cheese champion during beer cheese week Saturday.
That's right.
Then downtown Winchester.
Beer cheese festival.
We've got to come back for maybe one of these.
I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it out this weekend, but maybe next year we can come out for one of these.
It's 10 to 5.
Just come eat all the beer cheese you can handle and go to the baseball game.
the baseball game.
You go wrong.
Yeah.
Hey, are we going to do a KSR
Draft King's Parlay
before this show's over?
We're in the works.
We have submitted one.
I mean, the NBA championship series starts tonight.
I'll tell you what it is,
regardless whether it pops up on the app,
but it's not on the app yet.
Okay.
Later in the show, I'll tell everyone how we are
we are gambling this evening.
Well, Shannon,
a long as you pick the Celtics to win,
he's going to be happy.
I mean, even though the Mavs are while we're hot,
I kept Shannon Celtics and his fanhood in mind when we built this one.
What is the spread for the six and a half?
Six and a half Celtics.
And PJ Washington's debut in the finals, though, for the maps.
He's been unbelievable.
I mean, he's been great.
He's been their third best players since I got him in the trade.
Well, in the last series and probably in this series, teams are focusing so hard on Luca and Kyrie.
They're leaving PJ open to take threes in the corner, and he's getting a lot of opportunities.
One game, he went like 0 for 8, but outside of that he's hitting about two or three a game,
which also might pop up in the parlor.
So we'll take our break, come back, go back to the phone lines,
859-280-2287.
It's our Clark's Publish out phone number.
We're here at A Better Brewing in Winchester, Kentucky.
Thanks to the Winchester Chamber of Commerce,
we've got a lot of beer cheese and a lot of beer to take part in.
We'll do it all.

Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
All right, welcome back. Kentucky Sports Radio.
Ryan, Drew, Shannon, Billy here live at a great place to come.
If you're in Winchester, Kentucky, or we like to say Funchester, a better brewing.
Part of a beer festival week.
Beer festival day is tomorrow.
Beer cheese festival is Saturday in downtown Winchester.
So come on out and check out our big thanks to the Winchester Chamber of Commerce.
And what, during the break, did they approve your parley?
Oh, we do have a parlay.
It's almost like they were listening.
And then sent the email.
I think they were listening to our show.
I like to explain my logic, so people that yell at me in Twitter at least know why I did it.
Okay.
All right.
All right.
So we have a four-leggar for tonight's game one.
First game one of the NBA championship series.
We got Mavs at Boston.
Mavs at Boston.
Six and a half point spread.
I thought that was too much.
Yeah.
Did you all have any strong feelings?
I didn't know how to feel.
I feel like Boston's going to win.
I don't know if they're going to cover.
So I just did Boston Money Line.
I know Shannon's good with that.
Celtics win.
That's all we need.
Leg one.
Celtics win.
It is minus 220.
We'll do some minus 220.
Also like the over in the game.
The over has hit several times these playoffs.
However, I don't know what these Mavs are going to do.
There's a chance.
There was too much in that Minnesota series.
We saw Luca drinking his beer.
I think they're in a little bit of a funk in game one.
I don't know how close they'll keep it, but I just took the Boston over.
The Boston at 110.
That means Celtics just got to get theirs.
We don't have to worry what the Mabs are doing.
So Celtics win.
They're scoring at least 111 points.
Gotcha.
I like it so forth.
I didn't know who's going to get us to 111 points.
I almost took the Porzingis under.
I think he's not 100%.
I think they're telling fibs about Prozingus.
Don't know how the Tatum Brown, they got the big duo against Luke and Kari.
So I said, you know what?
True Holiday, five assists.
I don't care who scores.
As long as over four and a half.
Drew Holiday passed the ball.
That's what we're looking for.
So right now, Drew Holiday passed the ball.
All right.
Boston, 111 or more points.
Boston win.
and because he's hit every time in our parlay,
PJ Washington, just give us those two threes.
Just keep making two-threes.
Just two, over one and a half.
PJ, just keep hitting two-three.
Is this going to be like a parlay that's plus 200?
No, plus 430s.
Oh, wow, okay.
I don't know if that was the final odds.
I'll get you the final odds.
But those are our four things.
I like it.
Boston went.
Boston 11 points.
Drew Holiday, five assists, PJ two-threys.
I like it.
You like it, Billy?
I love the line on the PJ Washington,
I think that's definitely going to hit.
He's been incredible,
but I couldn't tell you one thing or another
about the Holiday assists, Shannon.
You're the Celtics fan.
You like that?
Oh, absolutely.
Yeah, I think that's a safe bet.
And there's a reason we let Drew pick the Parleys.
He hits a lot more than we do.
Here's a whole thing with Parlays.
You want him to correlate.
So if Boston's going to score a lot of points,
we're going to need some assists from our point guard.
See how that's working?
That's why included it.
I don't know.
Didn't watch a lot of Boston Pacers.
I looked up Holiday.
He had five and all but one.
He was good.
But that's what we're doing.
Drag Kings, the crown is yours.
It is now on the app for people to go.
Oh, they've already posted it.
Yeah.
Oh, there you go.
So the KSR Parlay, the app on the,
draft King's app, has been really good the last couple weeks.
And go Shannon Celtics.
Yes, let's do it.
I love it.
I'm actually going to throw some money down as soon as we're finished here.
There you go.
All right.
The Clark's Pubbyshop phone number is 859-2-287.
Who's our first caller, Matt?
Alan.
Go ahead, Alan.
Hey, good morning, fellas.
I just wanted to tell you all how much I enjoy you three on the show.
You do such a great job, and you play off each other well.
It's a very kind show.
You all are good to the people you're dealing with,
and I just want to tell you how much I enjoy it.
Thank you very much.
Well, thank you, Alan.
We appreciate it.
That's very nice.
Anybody else that has compliments, just call out.
We'll take them.
Because right now that's the leader for the Kentucky branded call all the day.
I think right now Shannon, isn't it?
Yeah, yeah.
I'll always enjoy a good compliment.
You three are doing a great job.
Yeah.
Well, they didn't say which three.
It's true.
It could be any of the three of us.
Who's next, Matt?
Let's go ahead and take another call then.
Who we got?
Bubba.
Bubba.
Go ahead, Bubba.
Hey, guys.
I had a question for you all about some baseball stuff.
I'm excited about, you know, the cat here in Lexington.
But Lexington is a big baseball town, and we got a lot of Little League going on here.
I used to be a Little League umpire, and I had a question about whether you guys think it's more important that I keep a good strikes.
to call balls and strikes for the kids, or if I let it get a little bit looser,
because I had plenty of coaches and parents yell at me about it being loose.
My explanation to them was, if I don't, we're going to walk in six runs every inning.
So do you think it's better to let the kids have fun?
Great question.
What age?
You say Little League, what age are we talking?
Let's just say, like, we're 12 and under.
Yeah, you've got to have a liberal strike zone.
Otherwise, you're going to be there all night at that age.
So, yeah, you give them two or three inches off the plate.
It's okay.
Totally agree, man.
Make it lose.
Let those guys know, hey, man, you're up there swinging.
You're not there looking.
You're up there swinging.
That's what baseball is all about.
Putting the ball in play, running the basis, scoring run.
And they're not going to have a K zone on you like to do in Major League baseball.
So if you get it wrong, I mean, you might hear it from the parents.
But, again, I think that's better to let the kids have a little fun,
especially at that age, than it is to worry about a consistent ball and strike zone.
I'd understand if you're like six or seven.
And coach pitch is what you're going through.
But are you going to cheat the pitcher on the mound if he's trying to go to the Little League
World Series because you want the kids to have a little bit more fun?
Give me a break.
Oh, look at you.
Look at you.
He hates kids.
He hates Little League.
I mean, we'll have robot umpires.
They're up to Billy.
Billy would just cancel all Little Leagues across the state of Kentucky if he were.
Oh, play by the rules.
Let's not play by whatever the ump thinks is liberal enough of a strike zone.
Come on.
I feel like, is there?
Is there some trauma from Little League?
That's a passionate plea against Little League.
Did you get caught out on strikes looking at the end of your Little League career?
I guess I wouldn't have if this guy was up in the game.
Were you the right, Phil?
I was more left out.
Picking daisies.
Left out.
Speaking of baseball, the state high school baseball tournament started, it's already underway.
It started at 10 o'clock this morning.
Got a big game tomorrow night.
Well, right now it's Russell County and Simon Kinton.
And we like Russell County because they came into KS Bar last year.
Now they're back again.
Maybe it was two years ago.
They're back again in the state tournament.
So I think we like this.
So do we want to pick the games?
Like Matt always has his pick the games.
All right, let's go.
All right.
Game one right now, Russell County and Simon Kinton.
It's already underway?
It's already underway.
Who's winning?
Yeah, come on.
We don't have an update yet.
Okay.
Give me Russell.
I'm taking Russell County just because of their affiliation of KS. Barr.
I'll go Simon Kenton then.
Oh, Russell County.
Usually Shannon is the one that doesn't pick what we all pick.
Now I guess I get to hear what you all picked first.
All right.
You go last.
Next game, Trinity versus Pikeville.
Oh.
Trinity versus Pikeville.
Yeah.
Unfortunately, I'm going Trinity here.
Yeah, Trinity's good.
They're really good.
I'll go Trinity also.
Somebody's got to pick Pikeville.
I can't just all pick Louisville.
I'm going, Pikeville.
All right, I'm going Trinity.
Trinity.
All right.
The third game today is La Rue County versus PRP.
And we told you about LaRue County last night yesterday.
They had lost 10 in a row going to the state tournament.
They got hot.
They play all freshmen and sophomores.
Their region championship game went 15 innings.
They came to KS Bar last night.
I know PRP is a power.
But I am picking LaRue County and Casey Clark.
We did our show there not long ago, Drew.
I'm all LaRue County.
Listen, I'd pick LaRue County against the Reds, probably because they'd win that.
So I'm going LaRue County in this one for sure.
Yeah, I hope we don't KSRQaursom, but LaRoo County for me too.
PRP, baby.
It's going to be PRP.
You know, PRP is a powerhouse.
And the late game tonight is Mason County versus Lexington Catholic.
They always say whoever wins that 11th region is usually a favorite to win the state tournament.
This year it's Lexington Catholic, so I'm going to take Lexington Catholic.
I am too.
Lexington Catholic.
Drew?
Think about throwing Shannon a curve,
but I'll go Lexington Catholic here.
Who was the other one?
We know you're picking it.
You know you're picking it.
So there we'll pick the other games later on in the show.
859-2-2-287.
That's our phone number if you want to call and get on board with the show today.
We are live at A Better Brewing.
We're sampling a little beer cheese and some of the brewing here at A-Better Brewing
thanks to the Winchester Chamber of Commerce.
Winchester Chamber of Commerce Dynamic downtown,
Shane. Oh, yeah. They've got outdoors
concert series. I'm already trying to get my band
booked here. Why not? Yeah, we'll come here.
Listen, why have you not booked Alice Blue Band? Don't shame them for not
booking us. That's not the way to get booked. Say politely,
hey, I know you've already got your summer schedule this year, but next
year we've got a band suggestion for you. We would love
the opportunity to perform in front of your community.
Yes, this beautiful community
of Winchester. And here's my rider list.
Have you got it worked out for your date at KS. Bar yet?
No. It's a
Friday and July.
There's two different Fridays, right?
And the band's got to pick one of those two Fridays.
We'll get it together.
We're looking at maybe July 26, I think.
It's not confirmed yet.
We're working on it.
Now, do you have a costume to wear for trivia next Wednesday night at KS-R?
That, sir, is your job to get me a costume.
I've already said I need it to be within reason.
All right?
I'll play along.
I'll be a good sport about it.
I'm not cross-dressing again, though.
So it needs to be like, you know, Spider-Man or Wolverine
or one of the actual Marvel costumes to wear.
you pick me a reasonable costume, I'll wear it.
What about like sexy Cyclops?
Like kind of like the Halloween.
Oh, yeah.
Maybe show a little skin.
You got one eye walking around.
That's Cyclops, right?
We put the word out there,
does somebody supply you with a costume, a uniform?
We haven't got anybody step up yet outside of the Wonder Woman costume.
Not doing Wonder Woman.
We have to say, because Wonder Woman's not even Marvel.
I can, yeah, exactly.
It's disqualified.
So I'm striking that one down.
How about you're trusting him to find it?
If I are you, I would want to personally find this costume,
because Ryan is going to turn down anything that is your size.
That's probably true.
And he's going to opt for the extra smearum.
That's probably true.
I probably should do this on my own.
I thought that I could trust you.
Well, you know, I know you're our KSR cross-dressor,
so we're trying to find you the proper costume to wear.
Next Wednesday night, Marvel Trivia at KS Bar.
I'm going just to see him in the costume, Drew, if nothing else.
Yeah, I'm going to just go in and take a picture and then hit him.
All right.
Well, take our break.
Come back.
859-9-2-80-2-8-7.
That's 8-5-0-80-cats.
at the Clark's Pubmshot phone number.
We'll be right back.

Ryan Drew Stann and Billy here at A Better Brewing in Winchester, Kentucky.
Thanks to the Winchester Chamber of Commerce who brought us out to promote.
They just had Beer, Beer Festival Week.
Now we got Beer Festival Day a Saturday.
Beer Cheese.
Still the cheese in there.
It's all about the cheese.
Yes.
Beer Cheese Festival Week and Beer Cheese Festival Day.
It's a beer cheese festival celebration here.
That's right.
Yeah, a ton of beer cheese this morning.
It's the capital of beer cheese.
It is.
859-2802-287.
We've got to get this guy on because he is a Russell County Laker at heart.
I think Bob and Jamestown.
Bobby lives down there in Jamestown.
So you've got an update on the Lakers?
I don't know.
We'll find out.
Bob and Jamestown.
Go ahead, sir.
Lakers jumping out to an early 2-1 league top of the second.
He had an update, didn't he?
Two-run home run.
there, Russell County, going
strong. Yeah, that
Kentucky River area
is really strong on beer cheese.
That must be something, you know,
right in the locals got it going on up there.
But I love that blue beer cheese.
Always nice to sample
from that.
Well, come on up to the Beer Cheese Day
Sun Saturday, Big Bob.
Okay.
Looking for another nice weekend anyway.
You guys take it easy. Have a good one.
I think Bob was waiting to be
at all. I think he was. Yeah, he didn't know what to say. He gets cut off there. We do have an update on
Brennan Canada. Okay. He is in medical sales. Oh, good. Yeah. Good for Brennan. But he also
plays a lot of golf at the Winchester Country Club. It's a good update. I know a lot of people
wondering where he's golfing. Good place to golf. All right, who's next man? We've got another
phone call. Who is it? Jojo. Go ahead, Jojo. Hey, y'all. Thanks for taking my call.
Well, thanks for calling Jojo. Hey, I was thinking about Cal,
leaving the other day, and I wanted to just run this by you because it's very just an interesting
thought, at least in my mind. I'm also a big fan of rat beef between Kendrick and Drake.
With Cal having been gone and his connection to Drake, and our Kentucky boys being up at Drake's
house, I'm kind of glad that that connection is a little bit gone now if those allegations
are true by Kendrick. Just a thought. I'll let go and listen. Bye.
All right. Thank you. Thank you, Jojo. You're our Drake expert, Drew.
He's not wrong.
Drake has had some things set against him
and his beef with Kendrick Lamar.
You're familiar, right?
You've been listening?
Oh, yeah.
It's calm down.
I don't know if you noticed yesterday.
Drake deleted everything on Instagram referencing the beef.
All the songs, he posted a lot, so he took it down.
Probably a good thing.
I know our listeners probably don't know what I'm talking about,
but there is a big rap feud involving Drake,
and he's right.
It was a good time to part ways with Drake.
And if Mark Pope wanted to make a statement,
I say we bring out Kendrick Lamar to Big Blue Madness
and say we've switched teams.
I think that's a great idea.
the only other person up here that knows what you're talking about?
I didn't know if I should start the beginning with that with Ryan or we just move on.
I know what he's talking about.
Okay.
You do?
Yeah, I'm familiar.
We did talk about Kendrick Lamar's top 10 album of all time, according to Apple on the pre-show this morning.
I don't think his disc track against Drake was on the top 10.
It was not, no.
Yeah.
Probably, like he said, probably a good thing that we're parting ways with Drake in our fan base after that.
I was just amazed at how quickly they were able to crank out songs.
It seems like one song would come out, and then there was an immediate response like a couple of hours later.
It was great for rap fans because we were getting some great songs back to back to back.
But did you hear the newest one that Drake did?
It's a Hey There, Delilah, plain white T's cover.
And it's maybe the worst song.
He's dove off the deep end.
I don't know what he's thinking.
But yeah, maybe it is good time to slip with Drake.
What started the beef?
Well, probably they both just wanted attention to sell albums.
But as it picked up, it got very nasty, Ryan.
Some strong allegations each way, more so making Drake look bad.
I don't know really how to put this, but let's just say John Caliperi isn't the only person that recruits young talent.
There's been allegations.
The Drake also likes a little young.
Really?
Well, sleep at that.
But that's what is out there.
So now you know.
You're caught up.
Now you have your soundtrack for the ride home today, Ryan.
Well, yeah.
Are you still listening to Drake?
No, but my son does.
He likes Drake a lot.
So, see, I'm learning.
You've got to pick a side in this.
You'll have to ask Josiah what he thinks.
Sounds like he's on the Drake side.
100% on the Drake side. That's who he listens to.
It was a pretty
unanimous win for Kendrick Jamar,
but that's a bunch of nonsense
addressing the color. All right. Speaking of
Mark Pope, they announced
that, you know, they always had the father's son
camp all these years. Well, Mark Pope's
going to have a father-daughter
camp. Of course, Mark has four daughters.
What do you think about Mark
Pope having the father-daughter camp
coming up in a couple weeks? I think it's going to be very cool.
As we saw at the
Sunday press conference, his
families there. I think they're going to be very involved
and much as possible. I know one of them still,
BYU, they're kind of scattered around.
They won't be here all the time, but I
think this is one
big example of how often the Pope's. It's going to
be a family atmosphere around there, and I think that would be
very cool for any father-daughters out there
to sign up, be a part of the first one.
You know, get involved
in all this, a poke excitement moving on before we get
our first game in a few months.
Just another way of Mark Pope thinking outside the box, right?
We've always done it one way for
all these years, and now he's mixing things up
a little bit. I think it's cool.
Great opportunity.
You know, the women's clinic was so popular for so long, and then they kind of discontinued it.
I see that something that comes back also, don't you?
Yeah, I think they're going to be doing a lot of camps.
I do, too.
I think Cal did a father-daughter, to be fair on this, and I'm pretty sure Cal had one as well.
I don't want to just make it sound like Pope created this, but whether he did or didn't, it's a very
neat thing, and I'm glad the girls get to be included in camps moving forward, because I went
to Patino Camp.
I was signed up for Petino Camp
and we got told it's now Tubby Camp
in that offseason
and those were fond memories of my childhood
so anyone that's able to go to those
I highly encourage it. Kind of another
UK note of interest was
Lance Ware has found the new home
and he's going to join former
UK assistant KT Turner
down at UT Arlington
So he was at Villanova last year
one year now he's going to go to
UT Arlington what do you make of that
How About Lance? I mean we've got to say it everybody get your
How about Lance?
in. We miss having that. I like Lance a lot. I think this kind of shows a little bit what his
skill level was and what we were working with on some of those last Cal teams. Nothing against him,
but he went to Villanova and averaged, I think, one point in maybe 10 minutes. U.T. Arlington,
I think, well, Lance might be able to have a little more fun. That might be the level he should be
at where he can be more of a contributor and enjoy the rest of his college experience. But it's neat,
teaming up with his old U.K. assistant. I'd be lying if I said I knew a lot about U.T. Arlington. I know
it's a long way from Lance's home up in New Jersey, but I'm still a Lance fan.
I'll be rooting for him and hope he becomes one of the guys there so we can get some minutes he deserves.
The enforcer.
Yeah, I mean, he's always pushing somebody's buttons.
That's what Caitlin Clark needs right now in the WNBA is a Lance wear type to stick up for her every now and then.
But I wish him the best of luck.
That sounds like a good landing spot for him.
Lance was quick to mix it up with teams talking trash.
There were times I wish we would have gone to Lance a little more so we'd get in there and bully some guys around.
I think a lot of times Cal put him in just for this to stop it.
If we were getting bullied around, put him in there to kind of be a little physical with somebody.
I want to say in his last year is either Florida or Tennessee, it got real nasty.
And Lance stood up and everyone else got real quiet.
They were pushing around the guards.
Whoever else was on that team might have been into a little trouble.
But then Lance got in the mix and Florida shut up real quick.
So Lance where's going to UT Arlington?
Whatever happened to Cameron Fletcher?
He was in the portal this year.
I don't know where he landed.
That's the thing.
He went to Florida State.
He went to Florida State.
Then he was in the portal, but whatever happened to him?
I turned off the app alerts on my camera on Fletcher News updates.
I don't know where he landed, but he's still floating around out there.
Devin Askew ended up at a small school, maybe like Long Beach.
He's still on the move.
Dante Allen's in the portal.
Dante Allen's in the portal.
I'm sure if he's coming back to Western.
Yeah, I saw that.
That recruiting class turns out, wasn't it?
That wasn't the one.
No, it wasn't the right.
Which is why the results are what they were.
All right, well, take our break.
Come back.
We've got lots of food to eat here.
We got some beer cheese to try, and we're going to have the beer cheese festival winner beer cheese.
We're going to try that as well, and we come back.
So Ryan, Drew, Shane, and Billy, don't go away.
We're at A Better Brewing in Winchester.
