Starting point is 00:03:24 We got Ryan with Drew in Lexington and Mario and Shannon in Louisville. I posted another picture. I had an issue. It was a couple of weeks ago, but I thought it would be good to discuss. We'll talk about it in a second, but it's on my Instagram, Tommy T-O-M-M-I-E-H-44. Tommy H-44. Don't ask me why I spelled Tommy with an I-E. Tommy, I, E, H-44, and then we can talk about it.
Starting point is 00:03:58 I promise Ryan is it's suitable for all ages, but there's. Well, your last one I thought might get it kicked off the air. Okay, I see it. This is your, you're blown, you blew out a tire. I get to travel today because I don't travel enough, so I get to travel from Atlanta, the little old Pittsburgh, Kansas, down in South Eastern Kansas. My uncle Joe passed away.
Starting point is 00:04:21 He was 90 years old. He was an awesome guy. he had a full life and he loved every second of it i don't nobody likes funerals i don't think you know like it's fun if it's a celebration but what i what i've here's my question for for everybody what are the funeral obligations you know like it's i'm happy to go and i'll be a paul bearer and my brother and my sisters are going to be there they have a little bit easier trip but we are has come from a big family. Like it's always been, oh, this uncle passed away, that uncle pet, this aunt passed away. And you just kind of, you know, throw his suitcase in the car and
Starting point is 00:05:03 go. Ryan, do you feel the same obligation? Or is it like, they're not going to know the difference. I'm fine. I'm kind of with you. You know, I grew up at a little town and a tight-knit community. And you do, man. Even it's just a way you can kind of tell the other family members, hey, man, We're thinking about you. We're praying for you guys. Hang in there, be strong. It's more for them, I think. So it's the rest of your family, your cousins that was their dad or something,
Starting point is 00:05:34 kind of be there for them. Shannon, you went through this with your grandma. Yeah. Did you, like after the fact or even while you're going through it, did you take note of who was there and who wasn't there? No, no. In that moment, it's all about the family member who has passed away. I'm not, you know, taking role as to who's there and who's not,
Starting point is 00:05:54 and I'm not offended if somebody didn't show up. But I will say, though, if you're grieving, it does help to have a large amount of family and friends around you in that moment. But when it comes to going to somebody's funeral, I kind of take the approach of, okay, how often did I go see them when they were alive? Because if I just know of them, and I never visited them when they were alive, why go see them when they're dead? That's kind of my approach on that.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Is that insensitive? Is that weird? No, I think it's a great idea. But to what you just said, it's really more about their family and their significant others who you get to comfort. So don't you have to extend it then to their, like if your best friend's grandpa died and he was really close with his grandpa. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:45 You didn't know his grandpa. Right. But as your best friend, you probably go, right? That's about the deceased and more about, Drew, what do you think? I mean, let's talk about funerals on your birthday. Like, you're getting old. Yeah, Monique standing right here looking at us with a birthday cake. Listen to us talking about funerals.
Starting point is 00:07:01 But I'm with Ryan. I think that was supposed to be a surprise. I'm with Ryan. I grew up in a little town. I felt like my dad three times a week was over at the funeral home because that's just what you had to do with someone passed away. You have to go show your respect, whether it be for the person that passed away or a good friend or a good family member. I've been to some around here people I didn't know that well
Starting point is 00:07:24 but that's just part of how I grew up you kind of just go and pay your last respects and give a hug to whoever's there that needs a hug yeah I'm with you guys I could have used a hug after this issue that I just put on my Instagram story Tommy H-44 so I was my wife was complaining
Starting point is 00:07:41 this happened a couple weeks ago her tires were low and she said can I get new tires and I said no and I said no because We're going to buy you a new car this summer. Like your car is done for it's turned into a piece of junk. We're buying a new car either this spring or summer.
Starting point is 00:07:59 We're just going to just let me get through my schedule and then I have time to do it. So she's like, well, then you drive my car. Perfectly fine. So I drove her car, you know, and I travel so much. I want to driving it that much. But I put off getting the new tires. And then it was the first warm day. And I would go inflate the tires and they would get low after.
Starting point is 00:08:19 couple days. I go inflate them again. But the service station I went to didn't have a tired gauge. So I just kind of had to eyeball it. It's kind of like cooking a steak without a thermometer. You're like, I think I got it. So I'm out running errands. I come back. I parked the car outside the house because I'm leaving that night to go on a trip. And I'm in the house getting ready. And there is an explosion. It is so loud. It sounds like kids dropped like M80s in the sewer. Right. Yeah. It brought, we live on a coldestack. It brought every. Everybody out of their door. What is going on out here?
Starting point is 00:08:53 And it turns out that the tire, two hours after I drove, the tire just exploded. And it blew off like the coverage of the quarter panel. It pushed the quarter panel away from the car. That's how loud and powerful the explosion was. I look that picture. It looks like you ran over an active chainsaw. I didn't know you could do that much damage to a tire. It had, it was sitting there for like two hours.
Starting point is 00:09:19 hours. Like, it didn't even happen when I was driving. It was unbelievable. So now, no, I've got to do the thing. I really despise. Now I've got to buy a new car. Well, I got to buy a car. And I hate buying cars. Like, there are things we do in life that we do every day and we get really good at. Like, for example, I'm really good at navigating airports. I do it four, six times a week. All right? It might be a challenge for son if you only travel once a year. It's easy for me. I know what I'm doing. How many cars, the most, also was buying her life. Like you go once every, I don't know, six, eight years, maybe longer. Like, I'm really bad at it. And it makes me terribly uncomfortable. Ryan, how do you, like, what is your advice for somebody going to buy a car? I'm with you. I hate it.
Starting point is 00:10:05 I hate that negotiation process. Even though I do it when I sell a house, there's something about a car salesman. I don't like it. But yet, I have friends. They love it. They love that adventure of going on and try and negotiate the car prices and stuff. and I'm with you. I don't I don't like having to go out car shopping and test everything out because
Starting point is 00:10:27 the minute you drive it off the parking lot, it's going to depreciate like it's a bad. Our cars are bad investments, but yet we all do it all the time. It's definitely the most experienced here. Yeah. All the times he's wrecked his car. Well, you just don't wreck your car. You won't have to buy it. My boys wreck their cars.
Starting point is 00:10:45 I don't mind spending money in a car. I just don't want to. I hate the feeling of. Oh, did I, did I just, I made this big investment. I just paid too much for it. Like the best thing is car salesman can say to you is when he shakes your hand and goes, man, you got. And this is probably part of their deal. But you got a really good deal, man.
Starting point is 00:11:02 I can't believe we got you that. You got a really good deal. And it makes you feel good, Drew. Like, I just want to feel good when I leave that day. My problem is I'm so indecisive. If I go to a restaurant and order food, the moment I order it, I'm like, I should have gotten something else. I regret that. If I'm getting a car,
Starting point is 00:11:19 the moment I'm off the lot, I'm already wondering, is this the one? Should I've gotten something else? That will haunt me for a few weeks. I'm like that with anything. It's why I'll never get a tattoo because the moment I get it, I'm already going to change my mind about what I should have gotten, should have done this, why did you get that? So a big purchase like a car, that one is living in my brain even after the fact
Starting point is 00:11:38 because I'm just so indecisive about things. That's what you do, Tom. You don't ever go in and buy it on the same day. Like you go into a car lot. you negotiate down as far as you think you can get them. And then when they've got a really good deal on the table, you go, you know what, I'm going to sleep on this. I'll call you back tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:11:59 And then you're going to see just how far they can really go on the price. You see what I'm saying? You don't take it that day. Just walk out. Let them know. Look, there's a million other dealerships out there. I don't have to have this car today. Let them think that.
Starting point is 00:12:13 And then you can really get a good deal. That's great in theory. but it is such a time suck. It takes so, like I research every vehicle. I research the competition. Like, I do all that work beforehand. Then I'm making my mind. Okay, this is probably what I want.
Starting point is 00:12:28 If I can get a good deal, if I can't get a good deal, then I'll pivot to this other vehicle or this other dealership, whatever. But they move like molasses in there. It takes so long to get it done. And I think that's their secret, right? They want to slow it down.
Starting point is 00:12:44 And where are you down? Yeah. And you're like, oh, I've got four hours invested here. I might as well just pull the trick. Yep, yep. You also need that person. It's a personality trait. Some people are just sharks.
Starting point is 00:12:55 They can go in there and they'll walk out with the dealership. I'm not that person. I'll cave in negotiations. But like I have a friend whose wife, they look at a dealership and employees start quitting knowing she's about to walk in. They want no part of that. My mom's that way. I remember being little.
Starting point is 00:13:10 My parents would be buying a car and they'd be like, lady, please just get out of here. Take whatever car you want. So some people are able to go in there. and win that argument. I've never been that way, but it helps to have the shark in your corner. Well, I need a new car, and I'm not looking forward to it. And that's like, that's the, of the things I have to accomplish this summer with my work basically being done, that's, that's number one on my list, and I'm dreading it.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Shannon, we got callers. Should we go to callers or should go to break? Let's go to a couple of callers. We've got Ethan up first. Hey, Ethan, what's up? Hey, man, what's up? It's an honor, actually, to speak to Tom Hart. But I just want to wish a big happy birthday to Drew. And, you know, I'm a podcast listener. So I've been listening to yesterday's podcast, and they were talking about celebrity interactions.
Starting point is 00:13:58 And I don't know, my wife told me I shouldn't tell this story on the air. Uh-oh. If it needs to get dumped, it needs to get dumped. Shannon, just get your fingers ready. Oh, boy. Put me in this position, huh? All right. Thanks a lot, man.
Starting point is 00:14:11 So, like, five years ago, we were in Orlando, and we were leaving a chocolate factory. And, you know, my brother-in-law is up here buying truffles, you know, chocolate, whatever. We're drunk. It's immaculate. It's awesome. We leave this chocolate factory and we walk out and see Robert Grant. I know Shannon's not going to know who that is, you know, because he's never seen Harry Potter.
Starting point is 00:14:34 He doesn't care. Hermione or whatever he said. However, Ron Weasley comes out. There may or may not be a substance on his hand. may or may not. That substance quickly disappears. And I turn around and I'm like, Ron Weasley? And he's like, yeah, mate.
Starting point is 00:14:54 And I'm like, oh, my God. It was the greatest moment of my life. That was my celebrity interaction. Missed it yesterday. Sorry, guys. I'm so confused right now. And I don't want to ask any questions. Yeah, let's leave it there.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Yeah. Thanks for the call. That was enlightening. and Drew, was Chocolate Factory at Euphemism, or was he really out of chocolate factory? I don't know what was going on there. I'm with you. I know who Ron Weasley is. Yes.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Beyond that, I have suspicions of what he said, but I don't. There was a lot going on there. Chocolate Factory, stuff on his hand, people outside. He had drunk brother-in-law. Truffles. Anytime somebody mentions truffles, it makes me nervous. All right, Shannon, who's next? Grover.
Starting point is 00:15:38 What's up, Grover? How are you today? Hey, guys, I got a Jerry West story for you. That you should probably find interesting. In 1992, UK was playing in the Maui Classic. That's the one Jeff Brasso won the game in the tip end over Arizona. And the second day, I'm sitting there. I had a seat on Press Row.
Starting point is 00:15:57 And I looked at my right and who's sitting there, but Jerry West. And I've always admired Jerry West. And I said, excuse me, sir, are you Jerry West? He said, yes, yes, I am. And your name? And I said, is your nickname Zeke from Cabin Creek? And that is his nickname. He said, where did you hear that?
Starting point is 00:16:17 I said, well, I was a manager for Adolf Rupp. And one day in practice, some guy took a shot that was unconscionable. Might have been a 40-footer. And Adolf said, well, who do you think you are? Zeke from Cabin Creek? And Jerry West said, how do you know that's my... I said, well, didn't you live on Cabin Creek, West Virginia? He said, yeah, yes, I did.
Starting point is 00:16:40 Very few people remember that. And I said, didn't you come in Memorial Coliseum in the late 50s and put 55 points up on UK in the tournament? He said, again, you are right, son. I did. He said, but I've never heard my nickname given to me for the last 20 years. You've just brought back memories. And he was so, and he autographed everything I had. He was so nice.
Starting point is 00:17:03 But that I remembered his nickname because Coach Trump was using it as a slur. you know he really wasn't honoring this kid he was trying to ridicule him and and jerry west said well if adolf rup said it i consider myself really fortunate i said well go trump that's what he called you that is an incredible story thank you thank you for the call river that's awesome that should be the call of the day let's make that the call today Kentucky branded call the day they've got all the UK license baseball college world series shirts and things online in the store Kentucky brandon so that is our Kentucky brandon call the day. Check them out for all your UK Batcats gear. They got good Batcats gear? Like I feel like that's the next thing it's going to take over the town. I didn't know what to
Starting point is 00:17:49 buy. You know, we got Super Regional's, but what am I going to do with a Super Regional shirt if you win the next level? So I'm holding off on my purchases, but you should go get them at Kentucky Brand it. Maybe you just get all of them. Regional, Super Regional, NCAA Champion. Go ahead. While you're in there and get that. Hey, Lizzie, we got to do something, Tom. Monique, our general manager, has been holding Drew's birthday cake since the start. of this segment. Since the funeral talk, she's just been looking at me with this cake. Let's go. Get her in there. She started bringing it in and we're talking about funerals. I'm like the third base coach, both hands up like, no, no, stop, stop. But she has made a birthday cake for little Drew. Look at that. It's got Oreos on. Oh, I love Oreos.
Starting point is 00:18:25 Oreo birthday cake. So. Oh, my kid. That looks wonderful. That's awesome. Can I see it on the Zoom? Can I see it on the Yeah, sure. Look at this. Don't hold it up. I don't want it to fall off. Oh, it won't fall off. look at that thing Mario will tweet it out for us to put it out there so thank you Monique happy birthday baby Drew Drew's our baby you know and now he's 39 years old
Starting point is 00:18:45 39 year old baby gosh that is amazing I appreciate all the birthday love today from everyone oh yeah we need we need more birthday love for you like I want you to get
Starting point is 00:18:57 every text and every tweet and every DM we could imagine for your 39th year on this earth thank you for that and the Drew Franklin Beer special $4.50 in honor of your 45th birthday, Kraft beer pines. Wait, hold on. It's $4.50. The first time you said it was $4. It's $4.50.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Four, because he's turning 45. I swear the first time you said that, it's gone up 50 cents. Inflation, man. It happened over the last hour. The 50 cents goes to me. 50 cents is mine. It's a birthday text. Birthday text. That's awesome. Shannon, do we have any more callers at the moment? We do, but we need to hit a break first, though. All right, let's hit a break.
Starting point is 00:19:41 We'll take more your calls. I'm going to give a rundown on NC State because that's who Kentucky will face on Saturday afternoon at the College World Series. I just saw them. They're a really good team. They're really good. Obviously, they're good if they're in Omaha.
Starting point is 00:19:54 We'll continue with all that. We'll continue to wish Drew a happy birthday because it never gets old, even though he has. Kentucky Sports Radio continues right after this. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet, It lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field
Starting point is 00:21:04 and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Trip Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough.
Starting point is 00:21:22 Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth. Are you a good person? because you're afraid. Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free, our Heart Radio app.

Starting point is 00:22:05 This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue of 42. Hey, rep, my mama wants you to wave at her. What? Hey, Miss Parker.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, Fam, Miss Isaiah Thomas? And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
Starting point is 00:22:50 And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Starting point is 00:23:16 Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He run up the court licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast. or wherever you get your podcast. Kentucky Sports Radio continues.
Starting point is 00:23:45 Tom Hart and for Matt Jones. Shannon, what do you got? The segment sponsored by our friends at Shady Ray's. Stop overpaying for sunglasses. If you're tired of buying expensive sunglasses only into lose or break them, then you need to get Shady Raised. They're an independent American-owned company that started right here in Kentucky. They have premium polarized shades for every activity.
Starting point is 00:24:04 And if you lose or break them, they'll replace them. No questions asked. Use the promo code KSR for 50% off. two pair or more in store at their flagship location at the summit at fritz farm or online at shady raise dot com so billy worked really hard getting my my connection just perfect for today and it's been fantastic i've had zero issues none whatsoever yet we go to break and those guys disappear ryan what happened we've lost all power here at ks bar and grill not just us all the restaurants along here this traffic light out in front is out there's
Starting point is 00:24:42 Something has happened, but there is no electricity, nothing in this area right now. We got people in here eating in the dark. Freddie Maggard just walked in. He doesn't know what's going on. We have two other guys. Uh-oh. You lost him again, Tom. They're gone again.
Starting point is 00:24:59 Shannon, you're all over it. That sounds like a very romantic scenario. Like dimly lit, candlelight dinner. I'm more worried about what this does for Drew's beer special. And I'm glad he got his cakes. That and they got to get it fixed before tonight, because I can't show up in the dark and a Spider-Man costume
Starting point is 00:25:15 ready to host trivia with no electricity. It's not going to work out too well. I think that's a perfect way to show up. Show up in the dark. Who's this weird guy walking around in the dark in a Spider-Man costume? Call security. All right, so maybe those guys will rejoin us.
Starting point is 00:25:31 Maybe they won't. I want to give you a quick scatter report on NC State. That's Kentucky's opponent, Day 1 of the College World Series. Drew went over some of these numbers yesterday. And if you look at their overall stats, you're like, how in the world did these guys get here? This is not impressive at all. They're middle of the pack in the ACC and the ACC in ERA and runs and home runs and
Starting point is 00:25:53 everything across the board. Nothing jumps out at you. But here's what's behind the numbers. They had a series in Louisville. They got swept by Louisville. At that time, they were missing one of their starting pitch. pitcher Sam Highfield will probably start against Kentucky. They were missing key outfielder.
Starting point is 00:26:15 I think they were missing an infielder at the time. That was the low water point for them. And then they got guys back. They moved some guys around. I mean, they've been through a lot. They had a center fielder break his leg in an outfield collision, broke it in two places, fibula and tibia. They had lost a pitcher to Tommy John.
Starting point is 00:26:34 They had guys missed a lot of time. So they had to reinvent themselves. And now after beating Georgia two out of three, they come into Omaha having won something like 18 out of their last 24 games. They have been absolutely on fire. They've got veterans. They've got a 23-year-old third baseman. They've got a 23-year-old first baseman that both transfer portal guys. They have a major league caliber catcher in Jacob Kozart.
Starting point is 00:27:04 And he, I think, is the most important player going into the. this single game. He's a great hitter. And the numbers offensively are good. He homered, I think, three times in Athens this past weekend, but he can shut down a running game. And the way he does it is not just a great arm. He steals strikes from behind the plate. He's one of the best pitch framers in college baseball. And it's really hard to get a ball past him. He blocks everything in the dirt. And think about how Kentucky won the final game against Oregon, scoring from second on a wild pitch. when you have a catcher that doesn't allow you to pick up an extra 90 feet and you're an offense that takes advantage of that, I think that is going to be, that is going to be the main battle of this game, trying to figure it if you could run on them. They've got a 6-5 center fielder, Eli Serrano, hit a big home run, made a catch at the fence.
Starting point is 00:28:00 Trott Nixon's sons, Trot Nixon won the World Series with the Red Sox are on this team. Chase Nixon plays left. They're a very, very solid team. But here's the other part of this NC State team that you need to be aware of. They were last in Omaha in 21. That was a year after, there was no College World Series in 20 because of COVID. So the NCAA had some very strict protocols in place, as we all know. If you were vaccinated, if you'd gotten a shot, you were fairly well protected and didn't have to test. However, about half of NC State's team did not get the shot. So they had to test regularly and you showed symptoms than they, they tested you even more often. They beat the best pitcher of the year that year,
Starting point is 00:28:45 Jack Lider for Vanderbilt in a one-nothing game. The high field kids started that game. They came back the next day and they only had 13 players, the next game. There's I think two days later. They played a game with 13 players and that pitcher played first base and got three hits off of Kumar Rocker. And then they were told at 1 o'clock in the morning that they were not eliminated by losing, but because of the vaccine. So they've got a lot going on in terms of redemption. And that's, if you're playing them, it's an interesting story. We'll see if we'll get those boys back. We'll continue with Kentucky Sports Radio right after this. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending. Opinions are flying,

Starting point is 00:31:48 What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows.
Starting point is 00:32:06 Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall.
Starting point is 00:32:23 And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the first. flying. He running the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it out real quick.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Tom Hart sitting in for Matt Jones I've got lights on TVs on air conditioning on my electricity is flowing Drew what is going on in Lexington well all hell broke loose for a minute we had plenty of people eating everything just went dark our neighbors at jalapinos ran over their stuff was out street lights are out and someone just showed us a map on the KU website like a lot of downtown
Starting point is 00:33:32 Lexington doesn't have power but as I say that, Ryan and our are outside, and it looks like our big TV's popping back on. So maybe it's already back, but kind of caught us off guard there. We worked so hard to get this equipment working. We've had a successful show. You haven't dropped out once, and then downtown Lexington loses power.
Starting point is 00:33:51 But I think we're good now, so excited to finish the show with you. The weather's fine, right? Weather's beautiful. Oh, it's great. We're outside. Now it's... When we came outside, Tom, there were like emergency vehicles up and down Broadway, so something must have hit, a transformer or something if all of downtown Lexington was without power at one point.
Starting point is 00:34:09 Hold on a second. I have a question. Did you guys put candles in Drew's cake? Could that have been it? There are no candles, but I will say if the power is out much longer, I'm worried about keeping that ice cream cake cold. It's an ice cream cake. But we have these nice blue Christmas lights wrapped around the entrance to KS Bar and they're on. They're back on.
Starting point is 00:34:30 So we might be good to go. Or maybe you just have to. like pass out forks and just attack that ice cream cake. That'll work too. I'm good. And those, how expensive are the beers now? They're $4.50 pint, craft beers in honor of Drew Franklin's 45th birthday.
Starting point is 00:34:48 The tap still works. So that's not a problem. Well, how do you ring it up? Well, that's also not, get a calculator. I was at an airport one time. It was in, where were we?
Starting point is 00:35:02 Somewhere in Virginia after a Virginia Tech game and two flights got delayed at the same time. It was the last two flights of Saturday college football season. And they were ready to go and then they stopped. But the guy at the nearest bar left to go restock everything and get the kegs for the next day. And everybody wanted beer. So me and my co-worker, we just got behind the bar and started selling beer. And they were like $8 beer, airport beers. We charged everybody 10. We took only cash. We, we, we, we, we He probably sold 75 beers. And the look on this guy's face when he brought the flat truck down the concourse to come back in,
Starting point is 00:35:43 and he saw his bar pack of like 60 people. And he walked in like, what the heck is going on? And we said, hey, we've been selling beer for it. Here's, you know, $750. Congratulations. We just took it over. Like we would give a heck of a night. Dude had a heck of a night.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Thanks to you guys. Yeah, made a lot of money. Nice of you to help. Well, it was selfish in nature. We really wanted a beer, and we didn't want to be accused of stealing, so we decided it's better to sell and steal without a doubt. Shana, let's go to the phone line. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:36:14 All right, let's go to Shane. Hey, Shane. What's going on? Hey, guys. Happy birthday, Drew. Enjoy your day, my friend. Yes, sir. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:36:25 Tom, I'm very grateful to have this opportunity to tell you. Thank you so very much. It's Shane Ball. my dad Sam passed away and you guys did the tribute on the Mississippi State game and I wanted to let you know how much that really appreciated and how I really touched my heart when I saw that come across because I would have normally been watching the game with him and it just it just did my heart and my soul good man
Starting point is 00:36:52 and friends and family really appreciated that as well and I'm grateful to have the opportunity to tell you thank you so thank you Well, Shane, you're very welcome. It is what I've learned over the years that what is a 10-second mention or 30-second mention on a broadcast is it takes nothing from us to do. And what I love about it, it can be so powerful because not only does it reach you and your immediate family, whether you're watching or not, but it reaches those viewers immediately, but then people that you know or that know you are. haven't spoken to you, spoken to your dad, then they're aware. And it's, I don't want to take any thanks for it. It takes nothing to do it. And I know the return on that investment is so great. So I was more than happy to do that. And I'm glad I'm a chance to speak today.
Starting point is 00:37:47 Thank you so much, man. It meant the world. And you are amazing on what you do. And BBN loves you so much and really appreciate it. Thanks, guys. Feelings mutual. Thanks for the call. Shannon, who's next? Let's go to Kyle. Hey, Tom, just what's going on? I just want to say kind of follow up on that. Tom, you're a great representative of the SEC, and you get it with the BBM with KSR. We just appreciate when you're on.
Starting point is 00:38:15 And I just want to call out Coach Benji-owned and just the way that he professes his, his godly nature and how he gives all glory to God in this time and age in this world to see somebody go on national TV and do that. It's just so heartening. And we just love Coach Mengee-owned and he's just a great, great man. But one last topic I want to get at, a couple years ago, we talked about what were more
Starting point is 00:38:39 of in the world, seats or socks? And that was quite a big, big debate on how many socks and how many seats there were. And I've been cleaning up around my house and going through my daughter's room and cleaning us and stuff. And it came to my mind. I've got
Starting point is 00:38:55 like 700 hangers in my house, coat hangers and stuff. But I also probably got about 500 ink pens and pencils and utensils. So what's more in the world? Hangers are writing utensils. Okay, that's a great question. We'll let you hang up and we'll get to that. I need more hangers.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Like, I run out of hangers. Probably because I don't go to dry cleaner as often as I do, like during basketball season where I'm always picking up my shirts. Ryan, do you, you don't ever, have you ever bought a hanger? Do you have a hanger? It's funny. I just bought some hangers from Amazon because when I had to fire at my house, they threw away everything. I mean, everything.
Starting point is 00:39:37 So I had to buy new hangers for all of our clothes from Amazon. Yes, in the last couple months I have. Drew, think about this. Ryan buys cars more often than he buys hangers. Ryan doesn't buy a lot of clothes. I think you might even be able to say Ryan has. purchased more cars than articles of clothing in the last decade. Is that close, Ryan? That's very true. I think the last shirt I've actually bought for myself was an Alice Blue Gown concert shirt.
Starting point is 00:40:08 Good for you. And I haven't bought, I haven't bought any other shirts before since then for years. You mean we didn't give you one? We actually made you pay for it, didn't we? Yes, I had to pay for it. It's got to make money, too. So Alice Blue Gown T-shirt aside that you bought to support Shannon, you didn't do it for yourself to have the shirt. You wanted to support his band. Correct. When have you just gone to a store and purchased an article of clothing? For myself? Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:31 Oh, 20, 25 years ago? No, no, no way, no way. 25 years ago? I have not bought clothes for myself in forever. You know, I had clothes in the year 2000. Cars to collared shirts, which have you bought more of the last 20 years? Absolutely. That is the same.
Starting point is 00:40:48 Yeah. Goodness. I think I got three boys that each one of them got a car. The two oldest ones wrecked them, so they got like two or three cars. So, yeah, I've bought a lot more cars than I have collared shirts, no doubt. Our buddy Tim gave you a party like its 1996 shirt, right? It's a good shirt. Oh, yes, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:06 Kim Seaburger, you're talking about. You have the Goose 21 T's, yes. I had on his shirt earlier this week for the College Baseball World Series and got one on right now. USA, America's team, Cats, is a Goose 21 T. So is it because you're given so many shirts that you don't buy clothing? Correct. Yes. My entire wardrobe is nothing but free shirts.
Starting point is 00:41:27 And the shoes I got on were my sons. I didn't even buy these shoes. My favorite is his winter coat he got working at L-AX-18 when Mark Pope was captain of the basketball team. True. And it's the warmest coat ever, and I will never, ever replace it. I'm curious now because, you know, Ryan, you do real estate on the side. When you go to, like, show a house, you don't show up in a free t-shirt to show the house
Starting point is 00:41:50 to, like, potential buyers, do you? What do you wear? I've got some nice polos shirts that I've been given to me as gifts. Oh, okay. They've been given to you his gifts. No, yeah, I can get them as gifts. You know, Christmas, Father's Day, birthday. You get some clothes.
Starting point is 00:42:03 You got one out of the Barstool office? You got one from Draft Kings? Very true. Yes. That's a good shirt to wear. There's something to it, Shannon, because if my real estate agent is so thrifty that he won't even buy a shirt, I know he's probably going to get me the best deal possible. You know what?
Starting point is 00:42:20 That's a good way of looking at it. Yeah. This guy doesn't buy shirts. Look at all the money you've saved over the years. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. And shoes, everything. Can I tell Tom about when we were touring the house?
Starting point is 00:42:32 Yes. Our listeners have heard this before, but Ryan was my realtor. He did a great job. He did penny pinch for me. It really helped. But at one point, we're looking at a home, and the woman, like most people would do, ask if we'll politely take our shoes off before we tour her home. My wife and I'll quickly kick our shoes off.
Starting point is 00:42:49 No problem whatsoever. We're prepared for this. My realtor, Ryan, kicks his. off and I see at least three toes sticking out of your socks. And I'm like, this is my real estate agent. We'll work on the socks in the future. See, my philosophy was, Tom, I'm a sock shoe, sock shoe guy. So on my left foot, I'd already put on a sock and a shoe.
Starting point is 00:43:10 My right one, I put on the sock and it rips as I'm pulling it on. I don't want to take off what I've already done. So I just put the shoe over the ripped sock. I figured nobody's ever going to see it. Sure enough, we'd take our shoes off the tour of the house. So I'm over here asking about house things, and he's got big toe hanging out in the middle of this conversation. I'm so cheap I didn't replace a tire. And that's a little bit more dangerous than a sock.
Starting point is 00:43:32 But how worn was the sock that when you pulled it on, it ripped? Like, how old was the sock? Well, that's debatable. It could have been back from my college days. I'm not for sure. Or were the holes already there, maybe? That's possible, too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:49 I don't want to be near a sock from your college days. I, well, yoga girl bought me some new socks because she got tired of you guys making fun of my socks. Okay. I actually now have new socks. How many cards have you bought in your life? Cars? Cars. Cars, yes, cars.
Starting point is 00:44:06 Well, Gavin's had, I think, three. Michael's had three. Josiah's got one. They're seven just for my boys. I probably had since I've been in Lexington, I've probably bought five or six. I'd say I'm probably a dozen or so since I've just since I've been to Lexington. That is amazing. Those are a lot of cars.
Starting point is 00:44:28 That's a big number. Yeah. Yeah, tell me about it. When they keep wrecking cars, you got to go buy another one. Come on, man. Get to get one year out of a car? He's like our own little jail. You go cheaper and cheaper, though, right?
Starting point is 00:44:40 Like, you had a chance at that car. Yeah. This is what you're getting this number up. Yep, yep, yep. Yeah, my car guy is, I'm his number one customer. My picture's up on the wall when you walk in. Number one customer, here he comes. That's amazing. That is a fantastic story. Shannon, anybody else waiting on hold?
Starting point is 00:44:59 Yeah, let's go to Drew. Hey, Drew. Hey, guys. Good morning. I'll make quick. I was in Washington, D.C. for a big event. And it's the president, no matter who's in office, they come and speak every year. So there's usually a lot of celebrities that are kind of in and out. And I saw this line of people. And I saw them from the back. Everybody was, was, was, was taking a picture. And so I was like, you know, somebody famous must be over there. So I snuck around and I looked and there was Manny Packyow. And so I go up to him as quick as I can and I have my UK sweatshirt on. And so he put his arm around me and took a picture and he says, go big blue.
Starting point is 00:45:38 Okay. Then about two hours later, I'm sitting at a table for dinner and everybody stood up all a sudden. And I turned around look and the stinking Dalai Lama stopped at our table and was shaking hands and stuff. I'm not Buddhist. I didn't know what to do, so I kind of bowed. I mean, that might sound controversial to some. But anyways, I want to let y'all know that. I met Mani Pakiya out and the Dalai Lama in the same day. You got to get that going for you, you know, which is nice.
Starting point is 00:46:04 Yep. Thanks to the call, Drew. We've got to take a break. We'll be back for more Kentucky Sports Radio right after this. Last night, a blown call changed a game. Starting point is 00:52:41 Well, I mean, I think it's big. I think it's really cool. You know what? Don't tell Drew. But I think I think Drew's going to like it. I think Drew's going to be extra excited about it. That's just my gut feeling. Can I go?
Starting point is 00:52:56 Where are we going? Drew, are you prepared for your trip? Are you ready to rock and roll? Absolutely not. In fact, I have a little stressed out about it. Don't even know when I'm going to mow. Got things to buy, things to pack, things to figure out, got family coming in, got Father's Day,
Starting point is 00:53:11 but it's all good problems to have. I'll get it going. You're going to a beach, right? I am going to a beach. hopefully not one with all these sharks swimming around no that's that's that you're you'll be golden you'll be fine that's further up like okay that's the golf yeah here's all you need you need like maybe take one pair of pants you might go to a nice dinner right take one decent shirt like I know Ryan like something that you paid for as opposed to one that weren't Ryan was given I have some decent
Starting point is 00:53:41 shirts so you got to rotate you got to a second pair of swim trumps just so it can dry out or you get much of sand and flip-flops and you're set like that's all you need the beach trips are the easiest to pack for no i agree if it's in the suitcase better than winter trips i'm a little worried about what level of spf i'll need because i don't know that i've taken my shirt off in the year twenty twenty four outdoors and being in south beach i don't think i'm going to fit in i expect a major sunburn but i will be ready to take whatever comes my way you need all of it if you ever think that like oh this we're good with more fire truck seriously What is happening?
Starting point is 00:54:19 It's a lot happening. I'm telling you. Lexington is lit right now. It's all we have to say. I'm kind of. Here goes a tow truck. I'm afraid to come over there from Louisville later on today. If all that's going on. We're just getting fired up for Omaha.
Starting point is 00:54:34 We're pre-partying for Omaha. You know what it is? There is a welcome party, a send-off party, like getting ready to start right now at Kentucky Proud Park. That's actually true. The team is being sent off today. It's set off at noon, and they fly out like a 12th. 31 o'clock to go to Omaha. So maybe that's what all this is about.
Starting point is 00:54:52 Drew, I went over my NC State Scatterment Report for Saturday real quick. Just you guys, the power was out at the time, I believe. And I know you went over their numbers yesterday. Their season numbers are terrible. But if you break it down to what they've done since the Louisville series, they are now, I think, 12 and 6 against top 10 teams. Their pitching numbers are much better. Their offensive numbers are much better.
Starting point is 00:55:15 They just had to kind of reinvent themselves. So I think they're coming in having one like 18 out of 24 or something. The numbers can be very misleading, but they've got veteran power hitters on both corners, got a good center fielder, they've got an awesome catcher. And the pitching, they're going to rely on three relievers. That's it. They've got three starters, three relievers. They're going to try to keep it tight.
Starting point is 00:55:37 So that's my schedule. Anything else before we have to go? Ryan, happy Father's Day to you, Tommy. Oh, thanks, buddy. Happy Father's Day to you, too. Thank you. And Drew, maybe this is your special weekend. Maybe you can wish you a happy Father's Day next year.
