Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
A rep.
My mama want you to wave at her.
What? Where's he at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, here's Matt Jones.
All right, welcome back. Hour number two here at Kentucky Sports Radio.
Ryan, Drew, Shannon, Billy.
We are live at Hotel Lex, brand new hotel and convention center out here at the corner of Athens, Brunsborough Road,
an I-75.
They've done a $4 million renovation on the hotel that sits out here on the corner.
It's been out here forever.
We learned earlier that Freddie told us that the football team, the UK football team,
used to spend their Friday nights out here.
This is where they stayed before they played on Saturday.
A lot of history to this place.
Shannon, you stayed here last night.
I mean, it's really not.
Yeah, 149 rooms.
They're going to have live music out in the courtyard later today.
And if you come out here and join us, you can get a free lunch while you're here.
Why not?
Yeah.
Let's say you're a young guy that maybe just got engaged, Drew.
It's maybe a good place to have a wedding or a reception.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know who would need that.
Anyone you know?
Anybody we know?
Maybe long this program right now?
Look, I already saw the pool with the arcade games next to the pool.
But let's be real.
He doesn't call the shots, all right?
It's not up to Billy.
Oh, there's no doubt.
That's true.
That's how it probably should be in one of these weddings.
You should consider it, though.
But the event space, perfect for business meetings, weddings,
graduations, graduation parties, company holiday parties, trade shows.
So coming out, we're going to have a free lunch for everybody that comes out today,
and then we'll have the official ribbon cutting.
Shannon, we're part of the ribbon cutting.
I'm excited. They're going to let you handle the scissors?
Well, probably not.
Sounds like a hazard.
Sharm with scissors, what could happen?
I should not be around any sharp objects there.
So, no way, we mentioned the UK, I mean the Kentucky State baseball tournament,
but the Kentucky State softball tournament also going on this weekend.
We have to pick our softball game.
Let's do it.
All right.
We forgot to do this.
Tomorrow, the first game is Assumption versus North Laurel.
Got some folks that are here from Keevy in Laurel County sitting right there.
I'm picking North Laurel.
I can't pick anyone other than North Oral
when they're sitting right in front of us. Of course, North Warl.
Sorry, Assumption.
North Laurel or assumption?
Where's North Oral at?
Right here.
Oh.
I hate to tell you this, but Assumption's going to kick their butt.
What's going to happen?
I'm just giving you a little spoiler alert.
Such a deal.
I thought Shannon was going to cut a promo out of there.
Yeah, I'm going to Assumption, too.
I hate that for you, but yeah.
Listen to him.
Listen to him.
Because he won't be in any pre-show remotes.
Game two is Henderson County versus South Warren.
Again, second region over there, South Warren.
That's fourth region, I guess.
See, this is where you grow up in life.
I used to hate Henderson County.
It was a rivalry.
You know, we all hated our rivals when you're in it.
Oh, yeah.
But then the world gets bigger and the state gets bigger, and I'm in Lexington now,
and that's my region, that's my neighbor, and I'm going with the colonels.
I'll put our bad blood behind us.
Our soccer teams used to fight every time they got together.
We had a golf fight on a putting green.
We didn't like each other, but we've moved on.
Go Colonels.
South Warren.
I'm going South Warren.
I called a lot of their games when I was up at Western Kentucky, the Spartans.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
There was a little spurious there at quarterback for the football team.
So I've got a fond place of my heart for them, so go Spartans.
I'm going second region too at Henderson County, so we're split on that one.
There you go.
Now, those two games are.
Pre-show sticks together.
That's right.
Yeah.
It's at John Crop Stadium, which is right by Kentucky Proud Park,
which is the same time to the base.
baseball games be going on. You think that's going to be a little bit of a madhouse this weekend, Friday?
Well, it's not a game at the stadium. You mean? Kentucky Proud Park has the baseball games and John Cropst Stadium at the softball games.
Oh, I thought you were saying the UK, like the UK action was going. No, you mean the high school in that both places.
Gotcha. You know, that will be madness. So you're telling me traffic's going to be bad. Do you have to be anywhere on time this weekend? Maybe you want to throw it into like your app to see what time you should leave?
You know, you think when you leave, you know where you're going. You don't necessarily have to look at it.
the traffic. You know, you just know how to get there. I don't know where to turn. I know how to
get here. Yeah, but traffic is ever changing. Like at any given moment, what may take 10 minutes
one day could take 30 the next. It sure did today. I live one exit away, and I used ways to get here.
I use ways to go anywhere because I don't want to be late.
Lessons starting to be learned here. Just go ahead and just check, make sure traffic's okay
on wherever route you're trying to take.
You'll be going to call you every morning and check traffic for you. Like, hey, Ryan.
Looks like you got a backup over here. Officer Don does reports every morning. You just got to dial in a
98-1-1-1-1. Right?
Now we have three remotes next week.
We do.
So I'll need to check out before I leave where we're going.
One is a live remote we're doing next Saturday, next Friday.
Next Friday at Sulphur Creek.
Sol for I got locked in a bathroom last time.
Yes, you did.
But that one will be open to the public.
Can we lock Billy in a bathroom again, just for old time's sake?
I feel like, you know.
That's a story we don't talk about enough, really.
Well, I mean, I don't know what else to say it, man.
Got locked in the bathroom.
What else do you want to talk about?
I did get the email this morning that they are offering us a place to stay.
if we want to go down early.
Another trap.
Be careful, Billy.
It's a trap.
Yes.
I'm bummed to miss that one.
That was one of my favorite shows last year.
That was an awesome area.
Was it?
Mike's Landing?
Yeah, the floating restaurant there.
I had so much fun.
I know you guys are going to have fun next week, too.
Give me a T-shirt or something cool.
Now, what was this?
I guess four years ago during COVID,
during our summer shows,
we started to go through every county in the state of Kentucky
alphabetically.
We were on a roll.
Every day.
We had a different county.
We'd learn about that county, learn about athletes from that county.
Kind of interesting tidbits.
We'd get calls.
We'd get calls from that county.
And then we got to Spencer County.
COVID was over.
We tried to get to Woodford County by the end of the year.
Remember we were trying to go all the way to the end by the end of the year.
And I said, if we get to Woodford County, I would walk to Woodford County.
That's right.
Of course we didn't make it.
We got to Spencer County.
Football season came along.
Basketball season.
We stopped at Spencer County.
I vote. We picked the county back, and we have 13 counties to go, Shannon.
Four years later. Four years later, 13 counties to go.
Spencer County deserves the right to be talked about on KSR.
I think we start the county talk back up.
You always finish what you start.
We're getting this job done, and we cannot leave them hanging on any longer.
We used to beat Spencer County baseball so bad. I kind of feel bad for them, you know?
Like we just left them off.
Not giving them any respect whatsoever.
probably in your district.
They were.
They were.
You're just beating up on it?
Yeah, that was it.
Yeah, this is how we started.
I don't want a contribution.
First of all, the first thing
about Spencer County is, from the years
1997 through 2001,
they lost the Bull of East every time they played them.
That's my first time I late to Spencer County.
Now, they did just make it to the Sweet
16 for the first time ever in boys
basketball this year, so we got to give them a little
shout out for that.
Okay.
So.
Well, we can start at the beginning when they were named
after Captain Spear Spencer from Pennsylvania.
Who was killed at the Battle of Tippic Canoe,
the first Battle of the War of 1812.
I'm going to start calling Spear Spencer County from here on out.
Why not? Spear Spencer County.
Yeah, it's not Spencer County, Spear Spencer County.
What else do you know about Spencer County, Drew?
How much time you got, Ryan?
We're ready to talk about Spencer County.
Well, I did my homework.
Yes.
Credit again to Ryan, we got the text yesterday.
On my birthday, I did my Spencer County homework.
How about that?
I actually did a lot of research.
I didn't find as much as the quirky stuff we like, the fun facts.
So, I mean, we'll just start with the obvious.
Taylor'sville is the county seat.
is. I'll ask you, Shannon. This Taylor'sville Lake seems to be very popular. Oh, it is. Yeah. Taylor's
I don't really have as much to add about that, but that is the number one spot. What's going on there that's so cool?
A lot of boating, a lot of fishing, a lot of kayaking. It's just like a big lake that's really popular in that part of Kentucky.
So, you know, you talk about the other lakes that people go to, Nolan Lake or, you know, Cumberland in that area.
Taylor'sville Lake is where everybody goes. Of course, we all know one famous person from Spencer County, J.D. Shelton.
Oh, yeah.
Big country music star down in Nashville.
He listens to our show.
So I texted JD.
I said, hey, me, I need some facts about Spencer County.
So, yeah, I've got a bunch of facts here.
The thing about JD, he's proud.
Like, he let you know he's from Taylor'sville.
Spencer County.
Pinser County.
You remember when I said we used to beat Spencer County and baseball?
Yeah.
He played for that Spencer County team.
Oh, wow.
So now we beat J.D. Shelvern.
Rub it in his face here.
Napi Roots, Poe Folk's music video was filmed there.
Is that right?
I know that.
I know that.
I love that.
How did I miss that one?
Known for Felix Grundy Stijer, the spy that saved the union.
JD also filmed two music videos here for Great American Country,
home of 2016 Miss Kentucky, Laura Jones.
So that's about all we know for Spencer County.
Wow.
We're going to wait at four years for that.
Any more details about the spy who saved the union?
Because that sounds like a pretty interesting story.
That's a big one.
And the Polfolks video.
that song.
We'll do some research.
All my life. Ben Po.
Probably equally as important, too, those two things.
Spencer County, it is one of those counties in Kentucky
that if I ask you, Billy, to point it out on a map, could you find it?
No, but that's not saying a lot.
I'm not the best at the counties games.
As Drew knows on Fade This, I'm also not the best at researching, you know,
the important significance of these towns and counties.
But strangely, the one thing I know about Spencer County is what Shannon did
is I used to beat up on him in high school.
Oh my goodness.
So the Smiths County is basically just lost everybody.
To the pre-show.
Yeah, that's right.
It feels like you just brought this up so you could talk trash about them.
This is not the intent of profile.
No.
One of our 120th best counties.
So we need your help.
If you're from Spencer County, if you know where Spencer County is, give us a call.
859-280-2287.
We need some more fun facts about us.
But you have something.
I've got one.
All right.
Go ahead.
It's not.
I was hoping we'd have a little more to shine a light.
Taylor's real late.
Go there.
It's a dim light.
I did have in my notes.
This is the most of the kind of the odd stuff we found,
and it is not unique to Spencer County.
Okay.
But I'd never heard of it before, and I found it in Spencer County,
so I'm giving them credit for having it.
Do you know what Cal Bingo is?
Oh, I do.
I've heard of that.
I certainly do.
I read the, I was reading up on the Spencer newspaper.
What was it called?
Spencer Magist?
I already forgot.
I read it all night.
Regardless.
Recently, I had a fundraiser called Cal Bingo.
You draw a grid on a field.
Yes.
I say, hey, I want to.
that square here's $50 and they're like all right that's Drew's square and then Billy's like I
want that square and like all right Billy there's Billy's square and eventually everyone's got a
square and then here comes the cow and it just runs out and they put him in the grid and you just
wait for him to go to the bathroom and then if he if he drops it in your square you're the winner
number one number two I think it was number two I didn't get all the way into the rules
probably easy a little proof there we don't go much farther but if it if the cow does its
business on your square, you take the pot.
I've never heard anything like that.
It's done in other places, but I am giving it to Spencer County because I read about it in
their newspaper. They did it at the high school
recently. I'm definitely familiar with it. I've seen it before.
You've seen it. It's a lot of waiting.
Did you go beat them in that too? No, but I probably could.
No, I've seen it before. I don't know why you would want to do that.
You're just sitting there waiting.
How long does it take? I don't know. The cow doesn't know it's playing, so it's
No hurry.
Is there a section on draft kings, but you can bet on where the cows are going to drop?
I don't think there is.
Is it like roulette where I can get like four corners with one chip?
I can get like a couple squares.
Load them up if you think he's kind of hovering in that area?
Yeah.
Well, I've never heard of it.
I'm sure Spencer County has other things they're proud of, but that's what I, that's what caught my attention during my read.
That in the lake.
So there you go.
Spencer County, you're on notice.
We need some help.
And we need callers.
We need callers.
from Spencer County.
That's the whole catch of this.
We have to have somebody
from Spencer County call.
If not, we'll have J.D. Shelburne call us here
in a minute.
859-280-287.
Ryan, Drew, Shannon, Billy.
Spencer.
So who's next after Spencer County?
I'll have to go to the list.
Taylor County?
I think we should wait another four years
and then do the next one.
Give us time to research the next one.
I still think Shannon just wanted to talk about
how he beat up on a midstores.
Poor Shannon.
No, not poor me.
Poor Spear Spencer County.
Spencer County is one of those kind of like you drive it's just it's not on the interstate you drive by it
It's just south of the interstate because you don't go through it for a reason like you do a lot of counties
So it's kind of I think just kind of tucked away in there that's I think most people don't know where it is
But it's it's by bullet it is 25 miles southeast of Louisville according to it's right there
Close by yep all right so do you want our list? Yeah, I have it pulled out
Who is after Spencer? You're right we go to Campbellsville little Taylor County
Taylor County's on deck then we go Todd trig Trimble Union Warren Washington Washington
Wayne, Webster, Whitley, Wolf, Woodford, all of you get ready.
Got a dozen to go.
We used to beat up on Taylor County, too.
Oh, stop.
Lindsay Wilson and Campbellsville?
I used to beat up on Webster County.
Take our break.
Come back.
859-2802-287.
Ryan, Drew, Shannon, and Billy.
We're right back.

And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you

Absolutely.

Ramos sending on to Ernie Stewart for chip.
I'm Tad Ramos.
I'm Tom Boe.
On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, you'll get the real storylines.
I'm not worried about Policic.
I'm not worried about Balagan.
I'm not worried about McKinney.
My only concern is what happens in the back.
The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers,
he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge,
surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals.

restaurant and grill. If you come out here and you spend the night and you,
You mentioned KSR, you can have a free meal then.
I mean, there's a lot of stuff going on here.
A lot of, you can register to win things out here.
We're going to have a ribbon cutting when it's all over, so it's a very nice place.
Shannon stayed out here last night.
Slept great.
Very comfortable bed.
It's really a cool place, isn't it?
It's kind of become like a manning to kind of a boutique hotel.
Yeah.
I think it's really kind of cool.
Very nice.
Very cozy.
We've got our Kentucky branded tweet of the day.
Kentucky Brandon, of course, has all of the officially licensed UK baseball gear for the
college baseball world series.
They have them in store and online, so go to Kentucky Branden.com and figure it out.
This is from, it's from J.D. Shelburne, Shannon.
What's it got to say?
He says, Shannon, the dude smack talking so much.
He about to get a-whip from me and my Bears jersey.
Bears Jersey.
Spencer County Bears.
Were they the Bears?
I think they were the Bears.
They're so insignificant.
I can't even remember what their mascot was.
Oh, the Bears.
On Spencer County Day.
Oh, my goodness.
That's what I was worried about.
Bears.
Now, allegedly we do have somebody on the line from Spencer
County, so we're going to check it out.
So I believe Matt said James.
Is this James from Spencer County?
Yes, it is.
Hey, are you there right now?
Do you live there?
Are you there?
I'm from there.
I live right outside of the County now, but I'm getting ready to go back because it's a great place.
Well, tell us a little bit about Spencer County.
Well, Felix Steger was a spy who infiltrated an anti-union this spring that was going to
assassinate Lincoln, and he stopped it.
and they said that the plan that they had laid out was going to work,
but he was able to get them turned over to the authorities and get it stopped.
So I always thought that was pretty cool.
They're actually rebuilding his cabin down in town.
And just for Shannon, love you, Shannon, but I'm going to tell you something.
I'm a little older than you.
We used to spank you guys on a regular basis.
No, I don't remember this.
Yeah, I know you don't.
What year was this?
What year were we talking about?
Well, it was the first year that you guys got sick to getting beat as Mount Washington,
Shepherd's Villene Leibon Junction.
So you said, well, what's the ball?
So you caught us in our first year.
We didn't even have players that year.
And your second year and your third year.
Okay.
It was a regular thing.
We looked from you all on the schedule.
By the way, we're like, all right.
Full of Central.
Yeah, because it's the only team you could beat.
They didn't have players.
No, no.
We'd be too much.
Everybody else.
Be honest, we would sit by state.
Anyway, we used to call it to BCBS,
Bull of County Bull, and you can figure the rest out.
Hey, we're not the one doing Cal Patty Bingo.
Only because you didn't think of it, right?
What a genius.
I'm here for anybody who wants to call and talk to Shannon about.
Well, you better come strong.
I can tell you.
I want to take my headset off and just let Shannon go out Spencer County.
He's so quick-witted with it.
He's been doing it for years with the OVW.
But you said you wanted to hear more about the spy.
See? James told us about the spy.
That's interesting stuff.
Infiltrated a plot to kill President Lincoln,
so I think that's pretty impressive for Spencer County, Shannon.
That's right.
Can I tell you this segment sponsored by cornbread hemp?
I want you to tell me about it.
Hey, this is really serious.
We're all in danger of losing the right to full spectrum CVE products
just like the ones that cornbread hemp makes.
And at this very moment, prohibition groups are trying to reverse,
the 2018 farm bill that made cornbread hemp legal, which means recriminalizing a plant that we all depend on for a better quality of life.
The good news is, though, you can help.
There's still time to act.
Go to cornbread hemp.com slash KSR.
Click on the link.
Contact your members of Congress to tell them very politely that you want to keep cornbread hemp legal.
That's cornbread hemp.com slash KSR to keep cornbread hemp legal.
I mean, cornbread hemp has been such a great fan of ours.
We've got to support them in every way we can.
Yeah, great partners.
Good chance to do this.
this.
I think I have a new one arriving today in my mailbox.
Yeah, I just got mine.
We love it.
859-2-2-287.
Who's next, Matt?
Mont.
Go ahead, Mont.
Hey, guys.
This is Mon.
How are you doing?
Hey, what's up, Mont?
How's it going, Derri?
You're doing all right?
Great.
I'm on the way.
Actually, getting close to Madisonville.
I'm going to make a tour through West Kentucky to drive to Omaha.
Nice.
for you guys this week.
So it's hard to pack your underwear when you don't know if you're going to be going for 5 to 14 days.
But we're on the way.
Well, we appreciate to be safe and take care of us out there while we're watching from afar.
So I know you just enjoy every moment of it.
Go get us a head start at Rockos too.
Go ahead and get that out of the way.
Let's get some numbers on the board early.
You know, I'm not much of a drinker.
But I worked in Taylor'sville, Spencer,
County for 30 years at a pharmacy and there was a guy that would ride his horse through the
liquor store drive-thru every day because he got a DUI and he would drive to a horse through
the liquor store drive-thru and get a six-pack every day.
I guess it doesn't count if you're drunk on a horse.
Can you get a DUI on a horse?
You can on a lawnmower.
Yeah.
Well, George Jones got one on the lawnmower, didn't he?
I think so.
His wife stole the keys so he got on the lawnmower.
Yeah.
Oh, it has to be motorized.
Okay.
All right, Mon,
thank you, man.
Be careful and have a good trip out there.
That's Mont.
Taking our photos for us on the KSR website.
Yeah, Mon Dawson.
Love Mon.
Hope he has a long trip out there.
This is from the A Vision Glass Text Machine,
which is 502-735-3680.
Hope Drew is watching the weather for his trip down here in South Florida.
Oh, boy.
Yeah, I woke up to an emergency situation down there.
I think they're even encouraging people not to go.
It's almost like someone's telling me to go somewhere else.
Like Nebraska.
You know, summer vacation, Nebraska.
might end up happening if the weather doesn't improve.
No flood there, no shark attacks there that I'm aware of.
Yeah, well, the scene where I'm going looks pretty bad right now.
I hope it improves in all seriousness.
It's not just about my vacation, but my sister lives down there.
It looks like they've got some bad flooding going on.
Here's another one from the Aviation Glass Text Machine for you.
If Drew tries too much whipping on Wayne County, that might backfire on him if you ever
decides to visit Lake Cumberland down here.
I haven't done any whipping on Wayne County.
I have nothing but good things to say about Wayne County.
I enjoy my lake trips.
Anyone in Wayne County or anyone in a lake with a boat?
I love you and I love your area and I will help you boat sit.
I'll go out on your boat.
Anything you need to do, I'll help you out the lake.
Now, we are, you know, this is a big deal out here today for the grand opening of Hotel Lex,
but we have a grand opening of something else tomorrow night at KS Bar and Grill.
You're a big one of Shannon.
The first tapping.
How about that?
The first tapping at Shannon the dudes brew with Country Boy Brewing.
Looking forward to that.
And you can come out and get a first try of it.
We've sort of revamped it, reimagined it, thrown in some extra ingredients.
and this is like a thing that's been six months in the making.
We've been in the lab, you know, trying some different flavors.
Yeah.
Go through some different hops.
Yeah, like here's a little bit of this.
What do you think?
Like, taste test.
That's six months of taste testing that's gone into this.
So I hope that people come out and I hope they enjoy it.
How many pounds of barley would you say you tasted just?
Oh, my gosh.
My own weight in it, probably.
So you went out to Country Boy, and you guys literally just tasted different samples.
You can pick the one that you like the best.
Here is the incredible thing about brewers or just like anybody that does any
sort of, I consider it like an artistic work, you know, where you can just say, hey, here's
what I would like to taste, here's A, B, and C, whatever those are, they can just go and just
brew it up, and all of a sudden you've got a beer with those characteristics.
And they can do that, which is amazing.
So I think they've done a great job on this.
I'm excited for everybody to try it.
And we'll see you out there tomorrow on at 6 o'clock at KS Bar.
Country Boys.
It's been such a good partner with us for years.
So I'll be out there, too.
I'll drink my two and leave.
It's going to be a big event.

He has his claim to fame

By Yao Ming when you played in Japan
Yeah
Yow being blocked his shot.
All right, well, take it ready, take our break.
We'll go to the phone lines, 859-280-2-8-7.
That's the Clark's Publishop phone number, 859-2-80-2-8-7.
We want to hear from you.
We've got a couple of collars online.
We want to get to you as much as we can.
If you're driving out here, come out and see us.
You've got time to come out here, Hotel Lex.
We're at the corner of I-75 and Athens-Boons-Bunsborough Road.
It's across from the brand-new soccer complex.
We don't talk about that enough.
That soccer complex is huge.
Brand-new soccer stadium right across the street.
The Sair Athletic Complex.
is across that way across the Winchester Road.
Cornbread Hymps over there,
right here. It's right across the street.
What's across the street over on this side?
We don't talk about this place.
Yeah, that's right.
We're right back.
Ryan, Drew, Shannon-Billy.

859-2-2-287. Who we got up?
Matt.
Almost said Shannon.
I know. I heard that.
Go ahead, Craig.
Hey, what's going on, fellas?
Craig. Hey, what's going on?
Hey, not much. I just wanted to shout out my parents.
I always got in trouble for not calling my mom.
So I just wanted to shout out my mom in Spencer County today.
Nice. There we go.
They moved out there.
And we might have a little trip coming up in the morning out west, so looking forward to that.
Going to Omaha?
Yeah, I got a little flight out of D.C. in the morning with the brother.
Nice.
Oh.
Blue's getting in.
I know who this is now.
Yeah, well, congratulations.
I didn't know you had the Spencer County connection there.
Yeah, we grew up in PRP, but then as soon as we left, they moved out there, which doesn't seem fair because it's a full out there in Spencer County.
Hey, I've got one question.
Does DJ Burns play for the NC State baseball team?
And if so, what position should he play?
Catcher.
Catcher.
Thank you.
And enjoy the trip out there.
Yeah, there's only one position.
Why does he can play first base?
Yeah, but you want like a big target.
As a pitcher, you want your catcher to be a big wide guy, you know,
and give you a nice big target to throw at.
So I think catcher would be perfect.
And nobody's going to run him over at home plate.
That's a good point.
That's a good point.
Yeah.
Could he comfortably get down and squat down for a nine-eating base?
game? He's athletic. I mean, he may be big, but he's athletic. A lot of the bigger guys in
baseball play first base as well, right? So, you know, he surprised me with his finesse and his footwork
during that run to the final four. He's definitely more athletic than he looks. He looks like he'd be
oopalupa, but he can move around a little bit. I think those are small.
With the way he played basketball in that body, it wouldn't shock me if he's a shortstop turning
double plays. That guy is an impressive human with what he can do in that frame.
859-2-802-287 who else we got Matt
Sam go ahead Sam
Hey guys thanks for having me
True I hope you had a great birthday yesterday
But I wanted to make a comment on on UK baseball
One of the things that stands out to me
Like my favorite player by far is going to be Devin Burtz
As a pitcher like playing travel ball growing up
And stuff like that
Like having a catcher with so much confidence in you
After every bad pitch or every good pitch even
you know you can see him hyping the pitcher up never has his chin down
always believing in his guy so
devon burke i got a lot of respect to that guy
Shannon uh absolute
bangor costume last night perfect oh thank you
yeah i was a little disappointed i didn't have the mask but as drew pointed out
probably worked out for the better that i'm not putting a mask on that somebody
else had worn in the past did you uh were you out there or no
uh no i was not i was working
I got you.
Okay.
Yep.
But it was, yeah, it fit a little snug, you know.
It almost worked with that because you put your ray bands on.
You were looking at your shady rays.
Shady rays.
Shady rays.
They were definitely shady rays.
Appreciate it, Sam, thanks with the phone call.
859-2802-287.
You know it's Father's Day weekend.
You guys get your dad a card or a gift or anything.
I'm putting my dad to work.
I'm saying, hey, dad, we're moving.
You're moving on Father's Day.
Grab the other end of this couch.
We're going to bring this thing out of here.
There's some good bonding.
Good bonding time.
Are you going to feed him afterwards or something then to reward him for thanking him for helping you?
Yeah, maybe go out somewhere to eat.
I'm not going to cook.
You don't want to eat my cooking.
I can't cook.
Maybe a little bit on the grill, but no.
Drew, I guess this was more of a birthday event, but I took him out and tried to beat him on 18 holes yesterday.
It was my first round of golf in a long time.
But had fun.
Went to Thoroughbred last night.
Oh, how was it?
You know thoroughbred.
Oh, I love me.
Oh, thoroughbred's so good over there on these town.
Maybe one of the best secrets in Lexington is the Thurl Red Restaurant.
Oh, yeah.
But I guess I hung out with him all day yesterday.
I guess that was more about my birthday, but we'll find some more fun this weekend.
Yeah.
What about you, Billy?
Well, thank you for the reminder.
We've got to go to the mall maybe or Dick's sporting goods, find something for the dad.
But, you know, he's pretty simple when it comes to his father's day request.
He just wants to watch the golf and fall asleep on the couch.
Yeah, don't most dads just want to be left alone.
Like, just don't bother me.
I was serious when I say, look, if somebody wants to cook for us, fix us something to eat,
Let us have a nap and then a little pout chica pal-out.
That's all we want.
How about.
Really?
Father's Day, Christmas.
How about College World Series is on TV?
We have the U.S. Open.
That's a pretty big deal at Pinehurst.
What a great couch weekend to let your dad just be a dad.
Well, here's an idea also.
I want to throw in this up.
You guys ever been to Shaker Village?
Never heard of it.
Hadn't even been a full week since I've been over there.
What is Shaker Village?
Last Saturday.
Did you go to Shaker?
Just drove past it.
I didn't actually participate.
But I'm familiar.
with it. It's in Mercer County, close to
Herodzburg. On Saturday, they're
having one of those vintage
1860-style baseball game.
Oh, yeah. We're the bluegrass
barren. That's got to be our Kentucky team, taking on
the Cincinnati red stockings.
And they wear the old style
uniforms and everybody brings their
lawn chairs out and their umbrellas and they
play an old baseball game like they used
to in the 1860s. That's at
Shaker Village this Saturday.
I did a Hay Kentucky piece out there, spent
the whole day with them. I have baseball cards.
for those guys at home.
No way.
They have their own baseball cards.
It's a really cool thing.
It is like going back in time.
I'd never really seen anything like it the way they play.
And, you know, they say you take your own chairs and just kind of gather around the field.
It was really fun.
So do they use like a real baseball or is it?
I mean, I'm just like, you know.
They try to be as authentic as basketball.
But the guy's not wearing a helmet or anything.
No, no, no.
I watched my friend Ryan take one on the, like on the thigh or on the leg.
It left a huge bruise.
I mean, they're out there competing.
Well, it was something kind of fun to do.
Billy, if you need something with your dad,
take him to the vintage baseball game and Shaker Village on Saturday.
A lot of crazy people out there doing stuff like this.
You know, there's Civil War reenactors.
Yes.
One step away from that is playing baseball like it's the 1910s.
And if you have a daughter, the Mark Pope father-daughter camp is Sunday,
Father's Day out at UK.
Drew, you can do that as well.
Yeah, that'd be a fun one to get into.
I assume Mark will have a couple of his daughters there.
Maybe all of them.
I don't know, but that will be a fun experience as we.
We welcome more of the Pope era into our lives.
Club Blue event this weekend, too.
Club Blue event on Saturday.
Mario's going for us.
Going to get some video.
He'll where you posted all the social media accounts.
It's the first unveiling of Mark Pope's team to the public.
And we might have some tickets we may be able to give away tomorrow, Ryan.
Oh.
Look at that.
Look at you.
Lover and a shaker over there getting things done.
G.M. Billy.
859-2-2-287.
That's our phone number.
We got a couple lines open if you want to call and get aboard.
I want to tell you guys a story, though.
I think you'll appreciate it.
We like stories.
All right.
Western Hills High School in Frankfurt.
Familiar?
They invited a guest speaker to come speak to them.
This was like about eight years ago.
And they got somebody to come out and speak to them.
The guy got there early.
It was kind of watching practice and kind of up on the hill,
watching them down on the field practice.
And he kind of picked out one guy.
And so when he went to speak to the group of football players,
he pointed out this one guy.
I can tell, I don't know who you are, I know anything about you, but I can tell you're a leader.
People are following you.
Your attitude is great.
Your work ethic.
You're going to make it big someday.
Fast forward, the guy that made that speech was Freddie Maggard.
Oh, okay.
The guy he pointed out, Wondell Robinson.
How about that for a story?
That's cool.
Freddie was watching practice, had no idea.
Wondell was like a sophomore at the time.
And Freddie picks him out, and during his speech, he points out this guy,
that guy ended up being Wondale Robinson, who's now playing for the New York Giants.
Well, we've already known Freddie's eye for talent spotting Josh Allen out of high school as a two-star,
but this goes even farther back him out there scouting.
Love hearing that.
You know, Freddie was with the National Guard in Frankfurt at the time,
so Western Hills bringing out somebody to maybe talk to him about, you know,
leadership and work ethic and things like that.
And he tied that into football, and I thought it was pretty cool, Bill.
He pulled out Wondell out of everybody on the field,
with the helmets on. He didn't know who anybody is,
picks out Wondale. Yeah, I love it.
I wish I would have had a couple more years of Wondell at Kentucky.
It just didn't work out like that.
But I think he's due for a breakout with the Giants.
He's just, if Daniel Jones can be somewhat competent,
I feel like he could be a really nice addition to some fantasy rosters this year.
And who else did they picked up another Kentucky Wildcat, the Giants did, right?
Andrew Phillips.
Andrew Phillips.
That's right.
They got another receiver, too, that's going to play opposite Wondell.
It's really going to help.
Like Billy said, if Daniel Jones can throw them the ball.
859-2-802-87 we've got our final break we'll come back our final segment we are live at hotel

It's kind of been a fun day out here, Billy.
It has.
Pre-show, KSR.
Shannon stayed here overnight, so I did.
It's been a good little place.
Shannon, you're getting a lot of hate on the A-Vagelast Tech Machine from Spencer County.
Is that right?
Live in Spencer County now.
Tell Shannon, Spencer County beat Bullitt East in football when Bullitt East won the state championship.
Oh, wow.
You know, I was kind of sneaking a peek at your topics.
I saw that one of your topics was cities that people were fleeing from.
I thought we were going to talk about Taylor'sville.
Oh, that's brutal.
That's brutal.
Remind Shannon
The Spencer County's biggest Kentucky athletes
come mainly from the dance team.
Alex Shield, Lauren Cox,
and Kelsey Hodge.
You'll see?
It's the dance team does well,
and they said again, remind Shannon
that Spencer County was the only team
to beat Bullitties from the year
they won the state championship
in a few years ago.
Yeah.
How many state titles does Spencer County have in football?
And how many is Bullitties have?
That's one.
Okay.
One's better than none.
Last time I checked.
From the A-Vision Glass Tech Machine.
This is for you, Drew.
Yes, sir.
I'm ready.
is Cooper Potts.
Hi, Cooper Potts.
And I'm 10 years old.
Okay.
I've been looking up stuff on Grant Smith, and when I watch the games, I hear and I see that he is the best shortstop in the country.
What are your thoughts on this?
I haven't seen all of the short stops in the country.
Haven't seen many of them, but I believe I've heard Keith Madison, who I trust and others
say that about Grant Smith.
And then if you just watch his highlight reel from two weekends in the regional and the Super
regional, I'd have a hard time believing there's much better than what he's been doing.
just make some unreal plays.
There was the double play.
There was one where he ran out in left field
when Waldschmidt couldn't see the ball.
I don't know that he's number one,
but he belongs in the conversation for it.
His range is incredible, almost to the point to where
it could be like a negative thing.
Because what I mean by that is like that
there was like a pop-up into left field.
He almost ran all the way out to where the left-fielder was.
That should have been the left-fielder's ball.
And he's making plays the left-fielder should be making.
That left-fielder is a projected first.
first round draft pick, too. He's not there running and taking the ball from him, but he's incredible.
A guy that transferred in from Incarnate Word.
Oh, is that right? Yes. You know, he had a great snag up the middle, too, late in that final Super Regional game.
So, I mean, talk about that range once again. He was shading that way, but when you can, when you have middle infielder's like that, you know,
and I think it's a big safety net for those pitchers. And at second, Emilian Petrie, I mean, he's just as awesome at second.
Also, the whole middle of the infield has been great. That's part of the reason why Kentucky is still playing.
Backing up our talk from earlier on the Aviation Glass Text Machine,
another full-name university, Stephen F. Austin.
Oh, okay.
You don't say just Austin University.
Like you don't say Morris University.
Yeah, we need to think of more examples where there's just like one name
and then the university without the first name.
Like Cornelius Vanderbilt.
Somebody did say John Marshall University.
Nobody says John Marshall.
I didn't even know.
I didn't know it was John Marshall.
I didn't either.
I didn't either.
So you mentioned the topic of.
about cities your people are trying to get away from i've got the top eight don't look billy oh that
was a real topic i thought shannon was just no it was a real topic after spencer county
taylor's bill is not on the list oh okay these are the top eight cities must have been somebody from
spencer county who made that list are fleeing from in 2024 just in this year what did you say
go ahead keep going you trash spitzer county again no so we're going to you guys try to name all
eight cities drew you go first i assume this is in america yes in america i will go uh
San Francisco, Bob.
San Francisco's number three.
Good answer.
New York City.
New York City is number two.
Los Angeles.
Los Angeles is number four.
Good guess.
I will say Chicago.
Chicago's number one.
Oh, number one.
You've got the top four.
You need the bottom four.
See, now this is where it gets difficult.
It's usually big cities.
Expensive cities.
We've named San Francisco.
We've done L.A., Chicago, New York City.
Detroit.
Detroit is number eight.
Okay, you need three more.
I'm thinking it's a little too hot in Texas.
Give me Houston.
Houston did not make the...
Everybody's moving.
People love Texas now.
Texas. Drake moved to Texas.
Houston is hot in the streets.
I think Houston is now the third largest city in the United States.
It's big.
It really is.
All right. Drew?
Kind of forgotten what all we've already said.
I'll just say, I assume they're all like big cities, right?
We're not getting in.
Not Taylor'sville.
Denver.
Yes.
What?
Denver is number seven.
You need two more.
Knoxville.
Nobody want to live there.
Nashville.
Nashville's not on the list.
Cleveland.
Cleveland's not on the list.
I don't know.
I think I'm out of guesses.
I've already put on the best show I could.
I think I'm tapping out here.
Number five is Seattle.
You know what?
I actually was about to say Seattle.
Yeah.
But I didn't.
But that makes sense, too.
There's a lot of people that complain about Seattle.
We're going to Seattle in December.
That's why I didn't want to.
That's right.
I didn't want to include them.
And number six we didn't get was Washington, D.C.
Yeah, I wouldn't have gotten it.
Yeah.
So those are the eight cities that people are fleeing from in 2024,
and Taylor'sville is not on the list.
It must have been number nine.
Eighthap nine, two of my best friends actually live in Taylor'sville.
I've just having fun.
Sounds like it.
What about James Buchan and Duke University, Ryan?
Oh, wow.
That's a lot of mouthful there for that one.
But we'll just go with Duke on that one.
Okay.
But I think when it comes to Lipscomb, it's always going to be David Lipscomb to me.
Also found out that they stopped calling at David Lipscomb University in 1988.
But to defend Ryan, what you said when you played against them, what year did you play against them?
85, 86, 87.
Timeline checks out.
David Lipscomb.
859-280-2287.
If you want to call and get on board, we do have a call waiting for it.
Another special guest, Shannon.
Just for you.
Okay.
Bob and Jamestown.
How you, Bob?
What's going on, guys?
How are you, Bob?
Big Thunder Run weekend on Lake Cumberland.
I'm looking out my back door right now over at State Park.
That's where it's state dock, is where it's going.
Guys, be careful out there.
There's a lot of drift out of legs.
But it's going to be beautiful.
And the cats are going to be beautiful.
And the reds are hot.
Reds are hot.
And yes, you can greet everybody because they fly by your deck on their boat
with what you've got out there on your back deck, Bob.
They're out there.
There's two of them now.
We got two of them out there, lovely.
Oh, Bob.
Slow down, Bob.
The old double down.
Oh, my goodness.
Thank you, Bob and Jamestown.
We appreciate it.
Do you know what's on his day?
Oh, I do.
I do know.
I found out years ago, and then at our last remote, Bob, was that he showed me again.
Just to make sure that I did now.
Now he's got two of them out there.
We get a lot of, like, repeat questions when we meet people.
You know, back in the day, remember we get stops,
smack on run for Senate, you know, all that.
What is on Bob's porch might be in the top five?
No doubt.
Questions we get.
No doubt.
Without a doubt, people want to know what is Bob and Jamestown have on his porch and overlooks the lake.
One day we just, and I haven't seen it myself, I missed that show.
One day we need a photo.
It just needs to be out there.
The mystery needs to be done.
I've seen the photo.
I thought you all saw it in person, right?
No.
Oh, no, no, no.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Okay.
I hate to end on bad news, but we do need to throw this out there about the Josiah Hayes injury.
Drew, what's the status of that?
Yeah, we've kind of heard a little bit about this for a while,
but it's now confirmed that Josiah Hayes is out for the season.
He's going to be the starting nose for Kentucky's defense this year football.
Going to be a fifth year guy.
He had a great year last year, and they're expecting a big jump for him.
He was going to be a big piece with Deion and Ox and all those guys,
but they've now lost him for the year.
Behind him, they have an all right piece in Kishon Silver,
who split time with Josiah last year.
So, I mean, they've got some experience.
It'd say it's more of the depth on beyond him,
but that was a big hit because they were expecting a,
big breakout season for him.

Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David's
letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and headwriter, Streeter
Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with

telling you exactly what happened. That's where sports.
I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest
moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room
stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear.
