All right, welcome back, hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio. Ryan Drew and Shannon here, we are live at KS Bar and Grill. Got some people coming in for lunch now.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Doors are open, so come on out and see us. We've had a couple good, we had a good week last week. We had Singo on Tuesday night, which was awesome. I'm almost to say I'm embarrassed by how much fun I had at Singo. It was a lot of fun. I could not stop singing and that's not normally me. I think it's because it changes like every 30 seconds and it's a different genre. That was a blast.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Shannon, Drew spent more time singing than he did paying attention to his bingo car. Hey, my man was having fun. He was having a good time. That's all part of Singo. Sometimes you'd rather have fun than when Singo. You know, it doesn't matter. Another fun moment. Ryan and I booed the winners, which we started that tradition at Bingo last time.
Starting point is 00:04:26 turns out that's not common a guy next to me because I just said at the bar with Abby just two of us the guy next to me at the bar turned to his wife and goes what is this Philadelphia who knew there was single etiquette
Starting point is 00:04:38 well here's even the back story Crystal my friend was sitting right beside me at my table she won the first round she won the second round she won the first don't we play three rounds she won two of the three and we're booing her I'm booing her I'm sitting right beside her
Starting point is 00:04:53 it was a lot of fun though it was a lot of fun the booing and the booing and the singing. So we had single Tuesday night, and I said we drew and our bartenders here on Wednesday night for the NBA draft. We're going to get to the draft, but we have to get to Trimble County. Our count down to the counties continue.
Starting point is 00:05:06 120 counties, we're down to Trimble County. Next up is Union County. So we've got Union County and then the W's. Union under control. Y'all will be gone. That's right. Just by myself, Union County, I got you.
Starting point is 00:05:18 So we'll start with Trimble County. We'll start with our good friend, Mr. Shannon the dude. Shannon, what do you got on Trimble County? Well, you might have heard it's like 50 miles outside of Louisville so it's close it's close by i feel like we'll reach out and touch it uh was founded in eighteen fifty four bedford is the seat as largest city as milton and if you can't tell i'm going right down their wikipedia page right now because i don't know what else to tell you about trimble county but i feel like there's somebody out there listening probably from trumbull county that can tell
Starting point is 00:05:45 us all sorts of interesting facts if we don't succeed at doing it ourselves so please give us a call 859-2-287 trimble county is one of those counties and i said spencer county was kind of the same way a couple weeks ago where most people could not point it out on a map. If I said pick pick an area where is Trimble County I think if you would believe it actually borders Jefferson County in Louisville but it does what else you got for us? Drew. Oh I don't want to interrupt Shannon. Well I just wanted to point out you know it's a well-balanced county for every 100 females there's also 96.8 mills. Oh wow. It's slightly like a good you know county for males to hang out in there's there's four more females for every 90s. It sits right on the Ohio River.
Starting point is 00:06:28 So it developed as a river town. Milton was a river town right on the river. I already said that. I already said that. Thanks for... And I think I... For like the bridges in Louisville, and then you got the bridges up in northern Kentucky. It's the only bridge for like 40 miles that crosses the river. It's right there when it goes from Milton to Madison, Indiana.
Starting point is 00:06:49 Right there. So what do you got, Drew? That bridge is notable for being one of the longest continuous trust. bridges in North America. How about that? How about that? From Milton to Madison. And that, my friends, is that it? No, I'm just kidding. We got a little more. Let's talk about the Trimble Apple Fest.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Okay. Every county in Kentucky has their fest. That's true. What we have the other day? We had country ham and Trigg. We've had other country hams. We've had other apples. Sorghum Festival. Sorghum. Corn pudding? No. Uh-oh. That's offensive.
Starting point is 00:07:23 What's the, the, the, Spoonbread. Excuse me. I apologize. Spoonbread Festival over here. But in Trimble County, we're all about the apples at the Apple Festival. There's an apple pie contest. There's an apple cider relay.
Starting point is 00:07:36 There's just apples on top of apples. So you should go to that. There's also, well, was also the dirty turtle off road park. I'm a big Reddit guy. So I went to Reddit to see what was happening in Trimble County on Reddit. And all I could find was someone, some random person telling some other. random person to go to the dirty turtle off-road park. Dirty turtle off-road park.
Starting point is 00:08:01 But I went to their website. Dirty turtle off-roadpark.com is now for sale, and they seem to be closed. Oh, well. But at one time, that sounds like the happening place for these two people on Reddit. Let's also talk about their newest power plant, the Trimble County generating station, that provides power to over 100 million Kentucky residents. So we can say nothing's going on in Trimble County. but there's a million Kentuckyans without power without what's going on in
Starting point is 00:08:26 there you go how about that can I give you one more Ryan yeah shoot there's one more town called monitor Kentucky it's in Trimble County it's called monitor but the irony in this is it's an unincorporated community which means there's no local like government that monitors it it's called monitor but it's unincorporated do you find that so it's unmonitor it's a monitor that's what I'm saying that's the irony in the thing so that's that's a Another fun fact about Trimble County. Now, we do have somebody text us on the A Vision Glass Text Machine from Trimble County.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Does that count? Yeah, I mean, someone is reaching out. Maybe they're at a position they can't call it. I'm going to read what they say. Then I've got a really good story. I actually want to tell you about Trimble County. Okay. I have two more also.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Go ahead. Trimble County is the only county in Kentucky where you can watch the hydroplane races. Because the Madison Regatta takes place. But Milton sits right on the river. You can sit. It's the only place in Kentucky. You can sit and watch a hydroplane race. from the Madison Regatta.
Starting point is 00:09:23 It's right 4th of July weekend every year. It's coming up. And the city of Milton in Trimble County is the newest wet town in this bourbon state. Residents no longer have to cross the Ohio River into Madison, Indiana to buy booze. That's coming from a Trimble County resident. All right. Did you have any athletes? I'm going to put a bow on it with my last story.
Starting point is 00:09:44 So did you anything else? I have zero athletes. I usually can find somebody. Is this the least athletic county in all of Kentucky? Well, it is the fifth smallest county in all of Kentucky, so our pool is kind of small. It was the 86th county in Kentucky. And we do not have. Chronologically.
Starting point is 00:10:01 No athletes, if you have one for us, let us know. Maybe it's because they've been focused on entertainment, because in 1958, the film Some Came Running, starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Shirley McLean, was filmed in Milton. At least part of it, I couldn't find out which part, because that was not on Netflix. But at least one setting, one scene was in Milton. There you go. Frank and Dean Martin. But that's not the extent of Trimble County in the entertainment industry. Let's hear about it.
Starting point is 00:10:29 We have our Trimble County of the day. Oh, okay. Sandra Rogers. Sandra Rogers. She was 17 years old. She moved to the big city of New York. Okay, modeling for a commercial photographer. She even got into some soap operas.
Starting point is 00:10:43 And in 1944, she got her big break in the film Lost in Harlem. Did you see Lost in Harlem? I missed that one. I missed it, too. It wasn't on Netflix either. She did some other films. Yeah. She did great, but she also did some radio broadcasting.
Starting point is 00:10:55 There we go. And she eventually moved to Europe. Wow. So from Trimble County to Europe to go do radio, I think she lived in London, maybe did some German radio. So she's got this great broadcasting voice. And then she retires and she moves back to Kentucky. What does she do when she moves back to Kentucky, Ryan? She opens the radio station in Trimble County.
Starting point is 00:11:14 After concluding her work in Europe, Rogers returned to Kentucky and wrote scripts for WLAP in Lexington. No! Way! Really? So our colleague, she's now passed. We never got to meet her, but Sandra Rogers walks so we could run on these airwings. A little tip of the cap, a little clap
Starting point is 00:11:32 for Sonia Rogers. Our Trimble County of the day. I have one interesting story. Kind of a Trimble County hero. Okay. Also. Let's hear it.
Starting point is 00:11:42 I got another one. There's a jail, an old jail that was built in 1850, and it stood as the jail for Trimble County for 133 years, this old jail. And they had one famous prisoner. Delia Webster. Have you heard of Delia Webster?
Starting point is 00:12:02 I haven't. I'm about to tell you about her. I'm excited. Let's learn more about Delia Webster. Delia Webster is their most famous prisoner, and is her old jail of 133 years. She had a farm on the Ohio River in Trimble County that became one of the main hubs for the Underground Railroad. She helped sneak slaves across the river
Starting point is 00:12:23 into Indiana to be free and she did this for years and years and years she was arrested her home and farm were vandalized subject to arson she lost it to creditors and then she moved to Indiana but at the Kentucky
Starting point is 00:12:37 Capitol building in Frankfurt there's a watercolor picture of her that hangs in her honor because she was so renowned of being a pioneer of the Underground Railroad and she is a trembled County in. There you go. I want to go backwards. We have
Starting point is 00:12:52 co-Trig counties of the day. Okay. Two great women. Two great women. Trigg County. I didn't know you had Delio Webster lined up. And I didn't know you had Miss Rogers. So we're going to combine them. They're going to share that title. So is Trigg County? Maybe they're not athletic, but got women doing big things.
Starting point is 00:13:08 So if you're from Trigg County, Trigg. Trimble County, let us know. 859-280-2-287. Something we missed. Maybe some, if you know an athlete, we would love to have an athlete. We always get one from every time. Or if you've been to Dirty Turtle, off road park. Yeah. I have not one but two Trumbull County College.
Starting point is 00:13:25 Nice. Let's go ahead and get one right now. Who we got? Jeremy. Jeremy, go ahead, Jeremy. You're from Trimble County? Hey, guys, yep, born and raised. What can you tell us about it?
Starting point is 00:13:37 Well, it's typical small town. When I was young, you know, one stop light and it was a flashing light, and we had a gas station and a couple restaurants. So typical small town, Apple Festival was big, but I think probably the biggest thing for me was enjoying the Madison regatta. Yeah. So the hydroplanes would come to Madison, and we would be on the Trimble County side enjoying the boat races over 4th of July weekend. But just, yeah, typical small town, lots of tobacco, lots of farming, all that kind of stuff. I do have an athlete for you.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Okay, who is it? I played basketball at the University of Kentucky in the 50s. His name was Jack Tingle. Oh, and I've heard of Jack Tingle. He's from Trimble County? Yeah, he's from Trimble County. His son ended up being the judge in Trimble County for years. But Jack Tingle went on to play in the NBA and died at an early age.
Starting point is 00:14:37 He died in his 30s. But he was probably our most famous athlete. There we go. But yeah, small town, great place to grow up. up and it's a good place to be home. Now, had you ever heard of Delia Webster? There's Webster's in town, and I went to school with multiple Webster's. I'm sure they were related, but I'm not old enough to remember Delia Webster.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Okay. But, yeah. All right, man, we appreciate it. Thank you very much. 859-2-802-287. Let's get our other Trimble County caller up, Shannon. Who is it? Eric.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Eric, go ahead. Eric. Hey, guys. Yeah, I actually was going to speak about Jack Tingle. My dad, growing up, actually played in the backyard with him. They actually shot him to a peach pass, which that's how dated that is. He played for Robb, and they actually won the first championship officially, which was an NIT.
Starting point is 00:15:39 And like the previous caller, he did play for the NBA for like four years. That's awesome. played for the Lakers. But yeah, he needs to go in the Hall of Fame. So you guys need to work on that. Okay, all right. We'll do it. Thank you, man.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Appreciate the phone call. Well, there we go. Finally got our Trimble County athlete. I kind of want to apologize for saying Trimble County, we didn't have much. I'd be like that. We did, that's quite a bit. Well, that's what this, doing this segment usually produces. We get some good stories, find out the things we didn't know about certain areas.
Starting point is 00:16:12 So Union County, you're on day. I think I might do two next week because we're off Thursday, Friday. So what's after Union? I'm trying to pull it up here. Wayne, I believe. No, Warren. Warren will be easy.
Starting point is 00:16:23 That's Bowen Green. You're giving me Morgan Field and Bowling Green. I can do that. There we go. All right, well, take our break, come back. We've got to talk about the NBA draft last night. One heard their name. One didn't.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Who was it? Dun-d-Dun. That's the tease. We'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending.

Starting point is 00:17:46 Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing and we're still chasing it and we don't know when we've done enough because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses.
Starting point is 00:18:05 Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Keer Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hard Way.
Starting point is 00:18:28 Open your free Our Heart Radio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant, this went to a billion-dollar fraud.
Starting point is 00:19:05 But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire sort? survive. The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Life throws hurdles big and small. The question is, how do you conquer them? On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness. athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going from the WMBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you,
Starting point is 00:20:02 but don't ever feel like you don't feel like you don't feel on. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeki. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile. That means the world to me, and that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning.
Starting point is 00:20:29 It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Starting point is 00:20:56 embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's our Whiskey Thief Song of the Day. Little foo fighters for you. They were playing food fighters during the pre-show,
Starting point is 00:21:18 and I've had it in my head all day. So thank you, Shannon, for playing that. Ryan Drew and Shannon, 859-2-2-287. That's our phone number, and we have a third person from Trimble County on the line now. So who is it, Shannon? Tyler. Tyler, go ahead, Tyler.
Starting point is 00:21:32 Hello, guys? Hey, Tyler, what's up? You from Trimble County? No, I'm not from Trimble County. I asked you if you were from Trimble County. You said, yes, you're a liar? No, no, no, no, you're going on hold. Mark Anthony, you're up next.
Starting point is 00:21:43 Oh, look at this. Shannon appreciated the call. No, I didn't. I put him back on hold. We'll get to him. But he doesn't get to cut the line by saying he's from Trimble County. No, Mark Anthony is up next. Go ahead, Mark Anthony.
Starting point is 00:21:55 All right. Good morning, fellas. I lived in Trimble County for two years. So that's sort of kind of from Trimble County. I noticed the capital of the county seat of Bedford. The youngsters called it Bedrock. And it's the place where I took my young wife teaching her how to drive. and she got her driver's license driving around Bedford with the state policeman.
Starting point is 00:22:17 It used to be, well, Highway 42 passes through Trimble County, and it is covered up with produce stands, little motels, and gas stations that are long since closed down. But that's how I came to know at first, but before Interstate 71, which y'all don't remember, but I do. That's how you had to go to get Cincinnati. Oh, wow. It was a long drive, too. Yeah. And anyway, yeah, the fire plant down there, I was living there when they started that fire plant, when they started building that.
Starting point is 00:22:48 And you'd have to go down the hill from where I live down the Hickory Grove Road. You'd fall down the hill to the river and go along that road. Okay, that's good. All right, yeah. And you pop up. Walk up hill both ways. Yeah, anyway, that's about all I got. You got, oh, Bray's orchard.
Starting point is 00:23:08 There was a lot of orchards up there. Okay. Braes is still active and still selling goodies. And used to be good on peaches, but they tell me the peaches. Yeah, hanny ass. That's about all like that. All right, Mark, Anthony. You appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:23:22 Good talking to you. It's one of my favorite callers right there. Mark Anthony. Be nice. I love how you beg for Trimble County callers, then you get them and you're so uninterested in the call. All right, great. Yeah, go down the trail. There's our 10th region guy right there.
Starting point is 00:23:36 He is. 859-2-802-287. That's our phone number. You know, Stockton Mortgage has literally hundreds of homes. loan experts ready to help. They're the number one rural housing lender in the state and help people become homeowners every single day. Our friends in Stockton Mortgage are your
Starting point is 00:23:49 go-to-needs, go-to people for your home needs. 75 branches all over Kentucky and licensed in 28 states because they are growing. Thank you very much. Get to know them by going to Stockton.com, M&LS8259
Starting point is 00:24:05 equal housing lender. All right, Shane, who we got next? Nolan. Nolan, go ahead, Nolan. Hi. Hey, Nolan, what's up? Nothing. I'm calling about Trimble County because I know an athlete. Here's my great-grandpaul.
Starting point is 00:24:19 He refereed around the state for over 60 years. What's his name? Most people know him as cornbread. Cornbread. That's a great name. That's an awesome Trimble County name, Cornbread. Yeah, this is a nickname. Did he referee basketball or all sports?
Starting point is 00:24:36 Yeah, he refereed basketball. And he also did softball. Well, cornbread deserves to be in our Trimble County Hall of Fame. There's no about it. We got Jack Tingle, Cornbread, Dillia Webster, and Ms. Rogers. Sandra Rogers there. So appreciate you calling and letting us know about your grandpa. Hmm?
Starting point is 00:24:57 I said, appreciate you calling in about your grandpa. All right. All right, buddy. See you later. 859-8-0-2-2-287. All right, we've got to hit the NBA draft. Antonio Reeves. Did get drafted.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Thankfully, thankfully, thankfully, thankfully, drafted ended up being with the New Orleans Pelicans. After the Magic had that pick, I think they traded it to the Pelicans. Pelicans take Antonio Rees, Drew, were you happy? Of course I was happy. You know, there was talk that he could go undrafted. We knew somebody was going to get him.
Starting point is 00:25:31 You're not turning down that proven of a score, no matter how old he is. I don't know about the fit as much. I'd be lying if I knew what's going on with the Pelicans, I just love that Antonio got picked where he did. We didn't have to wait too long into the second round. It's more so yesterday was about the failure of Justin Edwards, really, a guy that was projected number one overall last fall when he got to Kentucky to see him go undrafted.
Starting point is 00:25:59 Undrafted. I mean, there was mixed feelings about how he was used here in the UK, how it worked out if he should have gone. But I was a big fan of that kid. I picked him as my MVP. I felt like on every pregame show, but to just see no one get him. him. That was my biggest takeaway from yesterday. I was glad for Antonio, but that stuck out the most. Because most of the times you draft these kids on potential, and everybody I think felt like
Starting point is 00:26:19 Justin Edwards has that potential. He just, it just didn't. He showed it one game, the Alabama game last year, and that was it. Yeah, and I'm one of 30 people that probably tuned into that broadcast yesterday. It was awful. ESPN should be ashamed of themselves. I wouldn't want to be drafted yesterday if I had to be part of that set. It was so bad. Anyone that knows what I'm talking about. But to that point, I'm sitting here watching it, and all these names are getting said, and I've never heard of anyone. There's a guy's named Bob getting picked, and I'm just thinking, surely someone has a spot for Justin Edwards. Nothing. But it just didn't happen. It's hard to see that fall. It's also just all brawny talk, really. Even if I wanted to learn who these guys were,
Starting point is 00:26:54 there'd be a draft pick, and it'd be like, all right, anyway, what's the Lakers? They're going to get Bronny, right? And they did. They drafted it brawny late in the second round, so father's son, first father's son duo in the history of the NBA. Edwards did get a contract, though. He's going to Philadelphia, where he's from. Yes, he's from Philly. Sometimes it's more so in the NFL, this case, but sometimes going undrafted. It can help your career.
Starting point is 00:27:15 You can pick your spot a little bit. It is cool. He gets to go home to Philadelphia, even though he didn't hear his name called or gets to put on the hat. And so he signed a two-way contract, which is a little better than they just signed him to bring him to camp. Yeah, I suspect he'll be a G-League for a little bit, but at least he has an opportunity. And then our boy, Jack, just reported as we were starting the show today, that Trey Mitchell, who didn't get to, drafted. He wasn't really expected to, but he was a draft eligible. He signed with the Thunder for a summer league deal. So summer league's coming up. We'll be able to watch those guys
Starting point is 00:27:43 compete for a spot. Now, it's NBA related, but not to do the draft, but our boy, Emmanuel quickly got paid. Toronto Rafters are signing their boy to a big-time contract. A lot of money. Couldn't be happier for that guy. He was one of my favorites. And trying to pull it. I think it was $175 million, right? I think that sounds right. Over five years or something insane? Yeah, and then also, Bam, Murray, these guys have been signing big deals these last few days. I mean, it's like half a billion dollars in Kentucky contracts. I mean, Arkansas has probably already tweeted about it.
Starting point is 00:28:16 They're so excited. But, I mean, it has been a crazy few days of former cats getting bags in the NBA. And really, we weren't on the show. We didn't talk about Reed or Rob. That's true. And the Barstle guys didn't get to it. So we got to, as we expected, you heard it here first. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:31 Reed to Houston. We were telling you for a month. Yep. That wasn't surprising. but then it was a little surprising seeing Rob go to Minnesota. I love that pick. Minnesota was, I mean, they're in the hunt every year with what they have, and then he's going there to be with Anthony Edwards.
Starting point is 00:28:45 Those two in a back court together once Rob gets established. That is, I don't know, there will be a more fun back court. I think what was Fran Fricilla when he was on with Myron, he said, Dillingham is the perfect guy you bring off the bench that he has he can bring you offense. You know, that second string, that second squad guys that come in, Dillingham is perfect to be there. Yeah, that could be a great spot. It is a great spot for him, especially if he pans out,
Starting point is 00:29:08 even if it is a six-man role, like Frasilla said, you know, Reed goes to Houston. We love that, but Houston isn't anywhere near established as Minnesota is. I mean, Minnesota's a contender. Shannon, the only other thing last night, we didn't mention just briefly, there was a presidential debate last night. I watched it. You didn't know you didn't.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Yes, I did. Yeah. I had zero interest in watching that. Are you serious? I knew it would be just from an entertainment value, like off the time. charts it was i mean just watching those two you know talk about whose golf games better and uh biden accusing trump was sleeping with a porn star and then biden at some point i mean it looked like he could barely even like get a sentence out i was a little concerned about his health to be honest with
Starting point is 00:29:50 you seriously i've seen a lot of that people think that no joke i mean he was sick i don't know if he had a cold or what i think a couple of his campaign managers said he was battling a cold but you could tell it just from when he walked out last now he wasn't feeling well well when when When Biden was talking, they cut Trump's mic off. And when Trump was talking, they cut Biden's mic. Smart move. So they couldn't go back and forth. But that's what I wanted to see.
Starting point is 00:30:11 I wanted to see them. They argue with each other. You two old guys argue with each other. But then they just talk over each other, and you can't understand what anybody's saying. And it's not, I don't know. You like that, though. You like when people talk over each other. Oh, I like that.
Starting point is 00:30:23 You've got these two old men, grumpy old men up there fighting with each other. That's entertaining. All right. Well, take our break. Come back. Go back to the phone lines. 859-2-2-287. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:30:33 Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. And in recognition of mental health awareness month,
Starting point is 00:31:32 I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing
Starting point is 00:31:49 and we're still chasing it and we don't know when we've done enough because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Starting point is 00:32:06 Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Keir Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Starting point is 00:32:26 Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. When Jacob met Levant this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive?
Starting point is 00:33:04 The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Life throws hurdles big and small. The question is, how do you conquer them? On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness,
Starting point is 00:33:35 professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going. From the WNBA standout, Kate Martin, and rising hockey star, Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't feel like.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladecki. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything.
Starting point is 00:34:19 Because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Starting point is 00:35:11 Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. This is also the Whiskey Thief song of the day. You can't have two Whiskey Thief songs. Yeah, we can. Yeah, we can. There's never too much Whiskey Thief. That's exactly right.
Starting point is 00:35:25 And we have a secret show coming up there. Wink, wink. A secret show that you just said. 859-2-802-287. We've got a couple phone lines open if you want to get on board. Ryan Drew and Shan here on Kentucky Sports Radio. He said we've got a football commitment we need to talk about. Yeah, they got a top 150 edge yesterday, a four-star out of Ohio.
Starting point is 00:35:45 Cedric Works. Class is up to 13. I've added a few commitments this summer. They have all the camps. Those are done now. I think the coaching staff can exhale a little bit. maybe hit a golf ball or go to Florida, but they're still taking commitments as this goes on,
Starting point is 00:36:01 so I got a big one and maybe more in the future. We'll see. You know, a little birdie has told us. Tells what? That may be on Tuesday next week. Oh, we're on that specific. You may want to get your Yotsie dice out. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:36:18 I'm going to pretend like I don't know what you're talking about. Just remember that on Tuesday. Are you hosting on Tuesday? I'm hosting. Everyone just left me. I'm just going to show up and everyone's gone. So Tuesday, that's me and whatever you're alluding to. Shannon and I are on vacation.
Starting point is 00:36:33 So you can handle this big, big commitment on Tuesday. I don't know what you're talking about. But if anyone calls in Tuesday, I will take their call. I'm looking forward to Tuesday. Rumor has it. It could turn the college football world on their head. It's big. It might even be.
Starting point is 00:36:54 be my call the day already. Okay. That's a call. Just ring that. I'm going on vacation, but Shannon, Shannon's not, he's taking a week off to move. How awful is that scenario? You have to move. It's awful.
Starting point is 00:37:07 Well, I mean, this is taking much longer than expected. I've been moving, I feel like for two weeks now. I had a company come over to do the big stuff for me. Yeah. Right? Because, you know, when you get to a certain age, you don't want to call up your buddies and say, hey, man, you want to come help me. Because nobody wants to help move, right?
Starting point is 00:37:21 So I hired a company to do that the big heavy lifting. but then I realize I've still got all this junk that I'm like do I do I move it? Do I throw it away? What do I do with it? Go it away. And it's too. Yeah, I know, right? And it's just a bunch of stuff that I'm slowly moving over. But it's a process, man.
Starting point is 00:37:39 You don't realize how much junk you have in your house and do you have to move it all. I've got boxes. I moved five years ago and I still have boxes in my closet that I've not unpacked. Just pictures and I'm going through this stuff going, how is this much junk and one house? I swear I'm not a hoarder, but I mean, I'm starting to feel like them one after going through all the stuff that I have in my house. So I'll get to it. That's probably what I'm going to do with my time off. It's going to be a staycation.
Starting point is 00:38:05 So what are you doing with your fountain, Phoenix Hill Tavern fountain? It's a bit of a sore spot. Yeah, I mean, I'm still trying to find somebody that can move it. I've talked to a couple of people that are like, oh, it's going to be several thousand dollars. I'm going, what? Like, I had this moved originally for a handshake in Metallica tickets. You know, and now we're looking at thousands of dollars to move this. I'm like, okay, there's got to be somebody out there who would take my louder-than-life-fuss tickets
Starting point is 00:38:32 in exchange for picking up a fountain and moving it, you know, nine miles away. So I'm just waiting to see if I can work a deal that's going to save me several thousand dollars. I like it. I don't like it that much. When I go on vacation, I think of Drew Franklin because he taught me the iron trick. You don't have an iron. You just have wrinkles in your clothes. I do it every vacation.
Starting point is 00:38:53 Oh, yeah. The shower? The shower. You didn't know that? Waste a little water, but... I really didn't think it worked as well as it does. You can take your full suit, wad it up in a ball, and throw it in your suitcase. Put it on a hanger, get the little steam going in the shower.
Starting point is 00:39:07 Don't get it wet. Sometimes I've had it fall in before. That's a problem. That's a bad. But just get that bathroom a little steamy and let that thing hang for a few minutes, and you'll be all right. I did it. One recently, I didn't think this is not going to work as good as Drew says it does. The iron trick works.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Have you tried the coffee? No. No. No. I'm staying away from that. Can't even look at a coffee maker. Okay, we got some A-Vision Glass text machine questions here, and this is a question that you can answer, Drew. Can college players not drafted come back to college?
Starting point is 00:39:40 You cannot. Once you cross that deadline, there's a deadline. If you leave your name in the draft after that deadline. Remember when we were all waiting for Jackson Robinson to make his decision by midnight? Yeah, they had to do it before then. Unless you're Randolph Morris. Because coaches have to recruit and fill those spots if the player is leaving. So if he fills that spot, well, then there's no more scholarships for him to come back.
Starting point is 00:40:00 If you didn't get drafted, you got to make it through the Summer League, earn a contract, or head overseas. Cornbread Stathen does deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. He refereed many eighth region and state tournaments. He refereed for 60 years and also umpired softball. Sounds like Hallfamered to be. 60 years. And here's another one you talk about, the Dirty Turtle Racetrack. used to be a great place for RZR track races.
Starting point is 00:40:24 Is that a division of bikes? RZR Razor? My son just got a concussion and broke his wrist in Trimble County three weeks ago. We haven't been back. So this makes it seem like the track is still open. Was the wrist associated with the track? Oh, I don't know. It was all in one text, so I'm not for sure.
Starting point is 00:40:42 I'm a little conflicted on this cornbread nickname because when I was younger, a kid named Cornbread beat me up and stole my bike, and I just cornbreads haven't. I haven't been a cornbread fan ever since except cornbread like them, but the nickname cornbread. I'll always associate with that bully. 859-28027. Who's next, Shannon?
Starting point is 00:40:57 The phone lines are open. Oh, the phone lines are open. Didn't Biden have a bully that bullied him was called corn. It's corn pop. Corn pop. He always talked about corn pop. What did he tell you some story last night about somebody? He just talked about corn pop, not porn pop.
Starting point is 00:41:11 That's Trump. Could be another one. Yeah. We do need a little housekeeping notes we can mention. The KSR Golf Scramble, believe it or not, there are still spots open for the Louisville Golf Scramble at Glen Oaks Country Club. Usually it sells out in a day. We've had to move all the golf scrambles to August so Matt can be here.
Starting point is 00:41:30 Matt's off for a couple months. So we moved all the three golf scrambles to August. I think maybe even the one in Somersets in September, yeah, it is. So at Glen Oaks Country Club, Louisville Golf Scramble, August 23rd. I tweeted out a link. I think there's a link out there that you can, if we'll, Maybe we'll tweet it out again. We'll tweet out the link if you want to sign up for either the Louisville Golf Scramble
Starting point is 00:41:54 or the Somerset Golf Scramble down at Woodson Bend Resort. That's in September. Monday the 16th, I believe. September 16th? Yes. According to my personal calendar, and I'm excited about that one, so I hope I didn't get that date. That's always my favorite one. To be honest, because it's a beautiful resort down there.
Starting point is 00:42:12 It's never, like, super crowded. You can play, and you don't have to wait. It's usually later in the year, so it's not as hot. Actually, it's rained a couple of hours. couple of years. Yeah, we actually had, we unfortunate breaks recently, but it's just a really fun course. I went there this summer for a little weekend. Got friends with the property down there. I'm really looking forward to that one, so I'm signed up. I am now legally able to enter the Woodson Bend Resort after. That's true. I have a long history there.
Starting point is 00:42:37 How long were you banned? It doesn't matter. 859-2802-287. Who we got, Shannon? Why were you banned? I'm trying to remember. Do I know this story? We were there with a couple families, Dante and Nicole and the scarces and all of our kids. They were about 12 boys, 12 boys, ages probably 11 to 18. And the middle of the night, they stole a couple golf carts from the neighbor. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. And went riding around on the golf course, on the green. They wrecked one in a sand trap and just left it there.
Starting point is 00:43:09 Oh, no. And the one they brought back, the one they brought back was damaged. And so we are awake at 8 o'clock the next morning knocking on the door. it was the park rangers and they said this had happened. None of us, none of the parents knew. We had no idea this had that had even happened. I could understand them maybe being a little upset about that. Well, it cost us a lot of money.
Starting point is 00:43:32 I'll tell you that to fix that dagon golf cart. 859-2-287. Who's next, Shannon? Mike. Mike, go ahead, Mike. Hey, good. You know, all right? We hear you, Mike.
Starting point is 00:43:42 Go ahead. Okay. Hey, I've been to call in on Tric County Day. I'm from Trick County. Okay. That's all right. What do you got about Trigg County? Well, I remember y'all talking, the Uigh or so go about all these crazy idiots talking about all the crazy stuff in LBL.
Starting point is 00:44:03 Well, you know, most of LBL is in Trit County. Yes, it is. That's right. Land between the lakes. So whatever, all these drunk idiots from up north are coming down going hunting and stuff, you know, they're, they're small. talking stuff and seeing crazy stuff. They ain't no big foot. They ain't no dog man, bird man, whatever.
Starting point is 00:44:25 Whatever the crap they're saying. Yeah, the werewolf. Yeah, land between the lakes, werewolf. That's a bunch of hooey. They ain't no such thing. Well, I'll tell you what. I've got friends of mine that have hunted over there for 50 years. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:41 They haven't seen anything. There is nothing over it. I mean, if you were dog man and you saw people walking around with a gun, Would you show yourself? Of course not. Well, yeah. But you would think somebody would, you know, they're hiding up in a tree all camouflaged, you know. So you would have thought somebody would have seen them.
Starting point is 00:44:59 Right. You know. That's like I don't believe in Bigfoot either because, you know, somebody would have seen them, you know, all these. All these. You know, like that makes a lot of sense. We like you and you are Don Franklin call today. So we appreciate you calling in talking about Trigg County and the, the werewolf.
Starting point is 00:45:18 And go big blue. All right. Thank you, sir. Appreciate it. But you know, that was one of those things that you never know what topic's going to hit
Starting point is 00:45:26 when you talk about it on a show. That was the one topic that day. I think we were, that's when we did it down at the lake, Shannon. It was last Friday. Last Friday. The rest of the day, people were sending me messages
Starting point is 00:45:35 about the werewolf and goat man and dog man down there. You're from over there. Have you ever heard the legend of the land between the lakes werewolf? I have. I haven't run into him. I was giggling there.
Starting point is 00:45:46 You're acting like this show was two months ago. Chan and Civ was last Friday. Yeah, it was Friday. Maybe you do need a vacation. I am so ready for vacation. But those little lore, those stories of, we had like a hell's half acre. You know, there's all the little haunted places in each county. Actually, in my research last night, someone told me there was a ghost in Bedford County,
Starting point is 00:46:04 but I found nothing, or Bedford, Kentucky in Trimble County. I found nothing about it on the internet, but I feel like every little town's got there. There's something. There's their spooky haunted story. All right. We'll take our last break. Come up, our last segment. We've saved this topic for the end because it may be the best topic of the day.
Starting point is 00:46:20 If you haven't heard what's going on with Kyle Flipakowski, Flipikowski, how do you pronounce it? Flipikowski. Sure, sure. This is a great story. We'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed the game.

Starting point is 00:51:04 This is our Whiskey Thief song of the day for the third time. Shannon's playing all my favorite songs to lead me into vacation. This is my last segment, and then I'm out of here. I'm on vacation after this. Shannon both. Shannon is going to be moving and I'm going to be in my speedo on the beach. You'll be moving and a shaking. And I'm shaking.
Starting point is 00:51:21 All right. The best story last night of the draft was Kyle Flipowski. Philipowski. Philipowski. There go. I don't even know how to start. His lady friend is 14 years old. Let's start with he was in the green room.
Starting point is 00:51:37 He was in the green room. It's supposed to be an early draftee. Yes. And doesn't get drafted all night. First round. Goes home. And he had it. played good enough. He's a good enough player. He should have got drafted.
Starting point is 00:51:47 He was one of the top players in the class two years ago. Went to Duke. Had a good year. He's the one. Everybody remembers he maybe flop, maybe didn't. But when he stormed the court, kind of twisted his knee, then did a windmill dunk three days later miraculously. That's him. That's him. It should have got drafted, but there's some questions about his relationship with a lady friend. Jonathan Giovanni, which is one of the best names you can follow for the draft. he kept mentioning how girlfriend and family,
Starting point is 00:52:15 it was on a podcast, but he mentioned that girlfriend and family issues kind of hurt his draft stock. I'm like, well, that's a long fall. He ended up going to day two. But it turns out, Kyle doesn't talk to his family anymore. Mom, brother got online after he got drafted and said, don't congratulate us.
Starting point is 00:52:32 He stopped talking to us two years ago. He was swept away by this, this almost a young woman, his new girlfriend, this woman. And it turns out she is 28 years old. And when they started dating, he was in high school. She went to his prom. She had a master's degree when she went to his prom. At one point, there's photos where she may have been his babysitter when he was little.
Starting point is 00:52:56 Yes. He was probably people doing the math. When she started college, he's probably 12 years old. But that is now his girlfriend. They're doing great. They're in love. If you go to his Instagram, just pictures of her. But it has come out that he.
Starting point is 00:53:09 left his family to be with maybe a former babysitter who is much older. You know, we can make light of it. What would you call that, Ryan? That's a mommy's one. A cucker. We can make the first one you got it. We can really make fun of it. But to me, it's sad.
Starting point is 00:53:30 The family says brainwashed is that she just, she saw the money at the end of the tunnel. Yeah. And took him away. And pulled him away from his family. Brother and mom are very upset. You can see the tweets. They're not shy about it.
Starting point is 00:53:43 They miss Kyle. I can see why. That's a sad situation. It makes me feel bad for the family, probably more than Kyle. So the age gap is six years. Right now, whatever. Okay, see, I thought it was more than that. It's six, seven-ish, six and a half, whatever.
Starting point is 00:53:59 We won't get two percent. Right now, he's in the NBA. That's not that big of a deal. That's a pretty big gap if it's the babysitter, potentially even a crime. So that's just where a lot of people are saying, that's why Kyle fell so far. Yeah, if this started happening when she was the babysitter, that is a crime. And NBA guys have said, like, in the interview process that heard him because he wouldn't talk about the family situation or the girlfriend's situation.
Starting point is 00:54:22 So he fell all the way to Utah, which people think is a unique. We're pro-Morman podcast by our show. If you listen to Fade this, Matt and I've been pro-Morman going back to beginning of college football season. Obviously we have Pope here, but there's also the whole Utah angle. But that after the draft and yesterday's terrible. Round two, the big story everyone seems to be talking about today is Kyle Philpowski's fall in this awkward babysitter, girlfriend, not talking to family situation. 859-2-287. Who we got, Shannon?
Starting point is 00:54:53 Larry from Paducah. Larry from Paducah, go ahead, sir. Well, you know, didn't Aaron Rogers break up with his family over some girlfriend, too? Yes. Maybe several times. That's true. Yep. He doesn't.
Starting point is 00:55:05 But I don't. Go ahead. It wasn't a girl. It wasn't a babysitter. deal though. No, no, no. That's a whole new plot twist when it's that age gap. Well, I'll tell you, when you take the scramble down to Woodson Bend, I think that time
Starting point is 00:55:20 of the year, it's a pretty neat place, but it's just eaten up with Ohio State fans. I mean, Ohio State flags everywhere down there. Buck eyes. Yeah, you're just going to have to get ready. The Ohio Navy, they call them. I think that's right. Bring all their boats down from Ohio. All right, appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:55:39 All right, guys. Nice to talk to you. Good talking to you. Have a good weekend. We did put out the links. I tweeted them out for both those scramble. If you want to try to get one of those final swaths for it fills up. 859-2-802-28-7. I notice you didn't have a lot to add to the Kyle's situation. Are you supportive of their love?
Starting point is 00:55:56 Like I said, it makes me sad. It's a little bizarre, right? Yeah, it's bizarre. It makes me sad for the brother and the mother that obviously won't what's best for him. And if he is being manipulated, what's what it kind of sounds like by this person. If your son brought home like a 25-year-old girlfriend with a master's degree, you'd probably be like, what's going to? Especially with my son is in high school.
Starting point is 00:56:14 That's a little weird. That is a little weird. Who's next, Shannon? Tommy. Tommy, go ahead, Tommy. Yesterday's show was loaded, but the funniest part was a little one-liner from PFT. When the Louisville fan called in and tried to crash the party a little bit, and they kind of busted him up.
Starting point is 00:56:32 And then PFT sent him off and goes, Kentucky's Camelot, but Louisville's come a lot. I thought that was hilarious. Yeah, that was, I heard that. Well, we appreciate you bringing it up. Thank you very much. 859-280287. We got another call we to end on other than that one?
Starting point is 00:56:48 No, but we do have this. Let me tell you about Shady Ray's sunglasses. Ryan, are you tired of overpaying for sunglasses? Oh, I know you are. I'm so tired of it. You talk about it almost constantly. But I keep telling you, you need to go check out Shady Ray's. They're an independent American-owned company that started right here in Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:57:05 They have premium polarized shades for every activity, and all of their shades are backed by the lost and broken protection plan. Starting point is 00:57:32 Tuesday, it's Drew and Maggie Davis hosting KSR on Tuesday. Jack Pilgrim's going to join us. Nice. Still figuring out Wednesday. I think Adam Luckett's going to come in and talk a little football, but I'm working on some guests. You know, you all just left me with an empty building. I mean, Mario, you here?
Starting point is 00:57:47 You want to be on the radio, Mario? I'm just going to sit here and talk about us off for two hours. And there might be maybe something you're going to talk about on Tuesday. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe not. Get your Yotsie dice out. Maybe there's some things going to need your dice.
Starting point is 00:58:01 On Tuesday. Yeah. It could be an interesting show. Ready for another Merry Monday with Myron. Fourth of July weekend, heading into that. It should be a fun week. You all enjoy your time away. You deserve it.
Starting point is 00:58:10 And then Thursday and Friday, Shannon, we've got Best of's, Fourth of July and Friday the 5th are Best Up shows, correct? That is correct. I'm running one with Myron and one with Tom. So not the first one with Tom where we can get connected. I actually did pull that one up, and I go, eh, I don't think we can run that one. I forgot that happened.
Starting point is 00:58:27 And then the second one with Tom is when the power went out here at KS Bar and Grill. I think that, I think that's the one I'm running. running. That's the one? I think so. But yeah. You don't want to run the run where you're cheating, playing the newlywed game with Tom this week? What are you talking about? Everybody knows Tom Hart, Carl Edwards, Trev Alberts, everybody knows that. What's that A&M?
Starting point is 00:58:45 Trev Edwards, I do that's Treve. Yeah, it's Treve. Me and Treve. All right. We're bros. Have a good weekend. Drew's running the ship next week. We come back for Ryan, Drew, for Shannon, for Mario. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
