Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

Starting point is 00:02:43 Myron Metcalf back in here, Hour 2 with Drew. I want to get to the calls. I want to pay that offering a bit, but Mario's an intern, right? Is that Mario's title? Mario? We don't have an official title. He's an employee, though. We won't call him an intern.
Starting point is 00:03:00 What are we calling you, Mario? He's around here making videos, doing Zooms. He does a lot. He's sending me Zoom. What do you want to be, Mario? You got a title, Mario, official title? You got a title? Digital content creator, but he's got his own podcast.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Mario does it all, man. Does it all. So when I see him, because I see him through the Zoom, there's a little jealousy there because of his hair. He's got that full head of hair. I'm at this point, Drew, where there's a spot that's growing. Like, you know, I haven't lost the war yet, but I'm surrounded by enemy fire. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:03:39 Like, we're getting there. You know what I mean? We're getting there. And I'm trying to figure out what to do with that scenario. I don't know if you notice, but there's like a trend where guys are like getting like this fake hair thing, not like a toupee, almost like a weave and like this colored hair look. Ryan Lemon, who you do the show with every Monday, had the plugs put in. He had it.
Starting point is 00:04:03 He was bald and they like put his own hair into his. So he did that, whatever it's called. So we have one person that's already gone through that fight. What does he think about it? I mean, was it a good look? It was a very uncomfortable a few days. Oh, he looks great. If you saw it before and after, you wouldn't believe it.
Starting point is 00:04:19 But that the process, I mean, he doesn't regret it. But there was a, there's a period of time where you kind of. had had to wear a little thing over his bald head. Yeah. Had to sleep sitting up. But he doesn't regret it. He's already made that jump. Are you considering it? I can put you in touch.
Starting point is 00:04:35 I'm thinking like, I want to go further. Like, but would it be weird? Like if I showed up next week and I had Mario's hair, you know what I mean? Like I had that whole, would that be,
Starting point is 00:04:45 would people, you think people would talk about me like to my face, or would it just mostly be behind my back? Like, how do you think people would be? Behind your back, but they would definitely talk about you. It's like when Brian Leilocker just showed up. on the broadcast one day and he had a full head of hair.
Starting point is 00:04:57 That's why you have to do like a, you have to do like a soft launch, like ease into it. So you're going to get it. Have them cut it real low where it just looked like it just started. You don't go short to long hair overnight. You got to ease your way into it. You got to go in phases, basically, Sam. I'm fighting different. I'm fighting different demons as we're looking at Mario.
Starting point is 00:05:18 He's got, A, he has this thing called a jaw line. I had one of those ones at part of time. But he has a little facial hair. and I noticed his doesn't have any gray in it or any gray up top. So he's the youth around here. I got a haircut last week and I turned around to the guy and I pointed at the floor and I was like, I don't know
Starting point is 00:05:34 whose hair is on the floor, but it looks like you dumped gray hair at my feet. And he's like, no, bud, that's you. So I don't have the bald spot coming, but the salt and pepper is making his way in a hurry. That's a moment, right? That's one of those moments where you go, it's me too.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Like you thought it was everybody else. You didn't think it would actually be you, you know, and that's what's happened with my boss, but my barber's shop appointments now are basically therapy because I asked my barber the same question. I'm like, hey, is it getting worse? And every time I ask it now, Drew, he pauses longer than he did before. You know what I mean? Like a couple years ago, I'd be like, oh, no, man, it's fine, no big deal. Now I ask it and it's a little bit of like, you know, it's going to be okay. But the way he says is that I know it's not going to be okay. So why doesn't he just tell me? Like, why won't he just come out and tell me, Drew,
Starting point is 00:06:29 it's over, right? Like, you can't stop this. Embrace it. Instead, he's giving me these, like, you know, kind of a little bit of confidence every now and the end. And I don't know if that's actually helped me long term. You just want the Band-Aid ripped off. You just tell me. Yeah, rip it up. I know what you're saying. I know what you're saying. It's kind of like my gray. Every time I go, they're like, no, you're fine. There's a little bit in there. Nothing to worry about.
Starting point is 00:06:53 But I've started noticing it's like, hey, man, might want to address this. Kind of here. Yeah. I mean, because mine is expanding like a puddle on a rainy day. You know what I mean? It's just growing. It's getting bigger and bigger. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:07:08 And I don't wear hats well. That's what I was going to ask. Have you switched to wearing hats often? I'm not a hat guy. My hats, I got a pointy head. So my head kind of at the top of it is like the top of a pyramid almost. You know what I mean? I was known as peanut head growing up.
Starting point is 00:07:25 So like me, it gets to a point where it's almost like it's like normal and then a little bit of ski slope. You know what I mean? You put some snow up there. So I don't do well with hats. They don't really fit my head the way they do a lot of people. So I just got to figure out what to do because I'm not going to go. I'm not going to become hat guy. So do I shave it all off?
Starting point is 00:07:49 Do I shave it? Do I get rid of it? What do I do? Other options, you get a piece, just set it up there, but I feel like you don't want to do that. Those are too obvious. Yeah. Was it Carlos Boozer who just sharpened his head before a game at the time with the Bulls?
Starting point is 00:08:02 I wouldn't recommend that either. The angles in the lighting can really get you there. It probably looked good to him in the bathroom when he left the house. I think LeBron has even experimented a little bit too. I don't know what he's doing. LeBron's hairline seems to move frequently. backwards, forwards. You think Carlos Boozer's friends
Starting point is 00:08:19 when he was leaving the house, would you tell a friend? Because once they've done it, Drew, you can't like reverse it. It's like once they've gone all in, what do you do? Because they can't just like wipe it off. If it's that bad, I feel like you've got to say something.
Starting point is 00:08:37 I mean, there's to our radio listeners that don't know. He's completely bald and it looks like he took a Sharpie and just colored it. Like there was no attempt to make. it look like hair. That is not the move you need to take, Marron. I will get in front of this and tell you now. Don't do that. Don't do that. But I can't do that. Yeah, that looks weird. I can't just throw on like a, you know, a piece where I've got dreadlocks all of a sudden. No one to believe that. I don't do well with hats. You know, I just don't have a hat head. I don't know,
Starting point is 00:09:04 man. I'm wrestling with it. I'm grappling with trying to, how do I transition to this next hair phase in my life? Because it's here. And I'm losing. I'm losing. I'm losing. I'm losing the battle. I'm definitely losing the battle. I promise we get back to some calls. Kevin, I cut you off a little bit early. Is he still there? We still got Kevin. Kevin, how you doing, man? Hey, sorry we had to cut you up. We had a hard break. Yeah, we had a break we had to do there, but what say you? No problem. You mentioned the Sydney McLaughlin, you know, and the rules, you know, about qualifying. It just seems, you know, it wasn't until like the 90s that we, started sending our best in America to play basketball.
Starting point is 00:09:52 And same similar situation or probably even worse off for the United States is, you know, with the baseball. I realize baseball goes on whatever. But I mean, every other country, you know, just seems like we're playing on an unequal. We're playing at a disadvantage. We're playing by certain rules, whether we impose them on ourselves. And, you know, we don't reap the benefits, you know, in summer Olympics, which we should totally dominate. I know we win more in the summer than we do in the winter, but, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:22 in most other countries, we win more, but we should be dominating like two, two or three to one, whoever's in silver or second place in the summer Olympics. Anyway, that's all I had to say about that, but I appreciate. The other thing is, I agree with that. I agree with that. Touch face real quick is the Mets. I didn't hear, I didn't realize today their deferred payment, you know, that's been going on for 20, you know, 20-something years was all tied to the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme.
Starting point is 00:10:51 That just blows my mind. I didn't know that. I didn't know it was tied to it. They've been talking about that. That's the way, that's explained that that's why the Mets decided to defer because they thought they were doubling their money on their investment with Bernie Madoff over a certain term or shorter term. And that they could afford, hey, we'll still make more money, you know, by paying, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:12 this player, you know, 1.5 million, you know, over the course of 20 or 30 years. And it turns out of the Ponzi scheme. So that just blows my mind right there. But you just see how the greed is and everything. But kudos to the player. And he obviously had a good agent and the terms were good. I appreciate my call. I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:11:34 So for those that don't know, he's talking about Bobby Bonilla Day. Bobby Bonilla, you know, baseball player played for the Mets, Orioles, other teams. I remember with the Pirates and, you know, him and Barry Bonds. but he today gets paid $1.19 million. Every July 1st, he makes $1.19 million. Today the payment is due from the Mets. Apparently it's tied to some pines.
Starting point is 00:11:59 I didn't know it was the Bertie Madoff thing. I actually know a guy who lost money in the Madoff thing, a ton of money, millions. But yeah, so Bobby Bonilla gets $1.19 million today. Here's the other thing people don't know about Bobby Bonilla, Drew. 1.19 million today, July 1st. He also has a deferred deal from the Baltimore Orioles where he makes $500,000 a year. And he'll make that 500K through 2025, I believe.
Starting point is 00:12:32 So this is a guy, I'm sorry, 25 years, so 2029. I don't know who his agent was, but my goodness, it's got to be pretty nice to wake up every July 1st and know that no matter what, that million dollar payment is coming. And then you got another 500K that'll be coming to you as well. It must be a nice life, Drew. Yeah, this summer, maybe even today, July 1 is reminding me a lot that I should have done better on my contract negotiating. I don't have a 10-week vacation.
Starting point is 00:13:06 I didn't get that at all. And I certainly don't get payments for 25 years after I'm done on radio. I mean, Bobo Giniya has the best contract in sports. And the made-off thing's accurate. The Mets were invested in his scheme. And at the time, they were getting double-digit returns every year. They probably thought that would last forever. So they're like, yeah, we'll just pull them off a little bit.
Starting point is 00:13:26 So we're making off our Madoff investments. And then that goes away quickly. So there is that connection. They thought they would just pay them off that interest every year. How do you run a Ponzi scheme, knowing that you're tricking everybody? No one that's about to collapse that everything is fake. Like how do you hide the emotions of that, man? Like I was at the grocery store, you know, the other day, man.
Starting point is 00:13:56 And, you know, you grab a couple of pops. You know, y'all call it pop or soda? What do you all call it down there? It varies. We have pops. We have sodas. A little bit everything. People know pop.
Starting point is 00:14:07 So I grab a couple pops. I put them in that shopping cart. those drink holder spots, you know what I mean? Like I'll go with my daughters and like, you know, fill it up and I at the register, grab a couple of pops, put them in the thing. So I pay for all my groceries and I'm walking outside. I realize I haven't paid for the pops. I forgot.
Starting point is 00:14:25 You know what I mean? I forgot to put those on the counter. I go back in. Hey, I'm sorry. I forgot this. I mean, I felt guilty just 25 feet away from the register. I don't know how people do something like that, man, and just rob people and, That's got to be a crazy thing to have to stomach that.
Starting point is 00:14:44 But Bob is he on the $1.19 million, and then another $500,000, he's living a good life. Bob, is Bob still on the line? Do we have another call? Yeah. We got Bob. This is Bob. Bob, how you doing? I'm bored as hell.
Starting point is 00:14:58 This is my show, I don't know. I haven't heard anything I wanted to hear. There's 120 counties out there that's got more interesting stories than I've heard. I'm the show you're saying What I want to say Is Cindy McLaughlin You can call her Wonder Woman Because anything she does
Starting point is 00:15:20 Is going to be top level And going to be entertaining And A couple things I want to say Did you get your dish to go to your reunion Because I wanted you to listen to Justin Wilson And you can be authentic then
Starting point is 00:15:35 And the last thing was The last thing was The last thing I always say, can you say Lulul? Because you just say it, you don't spell it. You just say Louisville, and that's the way it goes. How do you say? How do you say it, Bob?
Starting point is 00:15:50 How do you say it, Bob? How do you say it? Louisville? Say it again. Hold on. I was born. I was in Central Kentucky and Lulville is what you say. Okay. So there's, you see, but that middle part is what gets me.
Starting point is 00:16:03 There's like letters in that middle part. Okay. L.O. Walk me through it. Now, walk me through it, Bob. Like, take me little by little. That's what I'm going to do. You start out with a nail, the big O.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Old. Then you make a little, middle and little old with all them squiggly marks on top. Like a O? And then he's got, how do you say it? That's like Loo. And he don't have a letter for it. It's just found. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:31 And that's what gets me. B.L is the license. So Louisville. Repeat that. Love. Love. Lo. I'm getting close.
Starting point is 00:16:40 Love. Now Louisville. Louisville, Louis. Lovable. You can't spell it. You can't spell it the way it sounds. But you get my problem, though, Bob, is you're telling me you can't spell it,
Starting point is 00:16:56 but I'm supposed to be able to say it. Like, I feel like that's a distract. Right? That's a challenge for me. You got to say it, but you can't spell it. All right. Let me try it again. No, give it to me one more time, Bob.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Slowly, though, Bob. You went a little too fast. it down for me. Now you want me to spell it or just say it? No, you said you can't spell it, Bob. You said there's a sound in there that you can't spell. That's right. That's right. It's the sound you can spell. Lowell. Love. Love. Love. Are you even close? You're getting a little practice. I'm going down there to love. All right. Let me say it in a sentence, Bob. Let me say it a sentence. You know what? I'm going to get in my car and drive myself down to love her. That's not right? Is that right? That sounds pretty close.
Starting point is 00:17:39 What would you give that on a Like give me a grade A, B, C, what would you give me? I give me a B because you just need a little practice Okay, well I appreciate the call See my problem I came from Central Kentucky And I'm over 90 years old
Starting point is 00:17:56 And I'm just to the way We used to say it down there Because we never did We got a different dictionary for central Kentucky That's what I tell Matt Jones I tell Matt Jones that all the time I'm like you all got eight letters that they didn't give us in the Midwest.
Starting point is 00:18:13 And that's the challenge. Drew, so here's the thing. Everybody always makes fun of me trying to say it, and I appreciate the call about. People make fun of me trying to say it. But then when I ask people to explain how you say it, they say things like that. There's a part of the word that I can't really spell for you. You just have to know how to say it. That doesn't feel fair to me.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Yeah, and I feel like, first of all, I'm going to give Bob the Don Franklin not call of the day. Go to don't franklin. Dotting.com for your carney. I thought he came in a little hot with that. Little hot. Little hot. And you struggle with the pronunciation of the word. We as Kentuckians, we know that everyone outside Louisville does. That's why I don't know why he's giving you such a hard time. Scotty Schaeffler called it Lewisville in his press conference. Exactly. The thing about Louisville is it's no one knows how to say it. That's what it is.
Starting point is 00:19:00 So don't take that personally from what Bob said. You're doing your best and it's very common to struggle with that word. Well, and then I got I gotta be honest with y'all. Respectfully, you all aren't great teachers. Let me tell you. Bob, I said, slow it down. He wouldn't slow it down. I said, no, can you walk me through it part by part?
Starting point is 00:19:17 He wouldn't do it. So I think the idea of it's like, you just say it, the way I'm saying it, and that's harder than maybe people understand. We'll be back after this break. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in.
Starting point is 00:19:38 I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. Starting point is 00:20:24 And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Trip Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses.
Starting point is 00:20:52 Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you here on earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Keer Gaines,
Starting point is 00:21:07 as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness.
Starting point is 00:21:29 So when a swaggering our meaning, businessman, catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world. He doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive?
Starting point is 00:21:58 The largest tax investigation in America. in history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Back here on Kentucky Sports Radio, Drew somebody, Kev Miller, I think, Photoshopped me with
Starting point is 00:22:27 Marios, like with some dreadlocks. I can't do that. That's not a good look. I can't do that. Like, that can't be my next phase. Like, I don't, I don't know if it's any phase, honestly, for me when I see it. It looks cool. I think that's our Kentucky-branded tweet of the day.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Yeah. Go to Kentucky branded for all your needs. Got some Fourth of July sale going on. But yes, Kevin took that straight off Mario's head in a photo and put it straight on to yours. I like it. I like it looks good. I don't. People would be talking about me to my face, I feel like with that look.
Starting point is 00:22:59 It wouldn't be, it wouldn't be behind my back. So I don't know. if I can pull it off. People keep sending me how to say Louisville, and I still don't get it. One guy says Louisville, I don't know how to say it quickly. That's my challenge there, Drew.
Starting point is 00:23:17 But I'm getting there. I promise I'm getting there. We got another read. We got to get to. Yeah, let's talk about our forensic UK Federal Credit Union as I pull it up. UK Federal Credit Union is my favorite place to bank. It's the official credit union
Starting point is 00:23:32 of the University of Kentucky. It's also an award-winning and best places to work winner. I have the app. Use it every morning. On there, you can use your camera to save time and make a mobile deposit. You can pay bills, check balances, all with a touch of a button. And for added security, set up card controls and travel notifications in the app in case you're someone like Matt Jones who just travels all the time in the summer.
Starting point is 00:23:52 He will need the UKFCU app. It's always with you and available. It's here. It just makes banking better. That's a UK federal credit union, membership eligibility required, federally insured by NCUA. A lot of free agency news. Woj, this is like, you know, his Super Bowl day
Starting point is 00:24:10 where tweeting all the big stories, all the big extensions. Tyrese maxi, $204 million over five years. My goodness. He deserves it, but that's just an incredible amount of money. 200 million. Kudos to him.
Starting point is 00:24:27 And you know something? People talk about like, you know, whether or not you can recruit NBA talent, under Mark Pope and that being a big thing, that matters. But like, you can get to the NBA in a variety of ways today. I think the appeal is like if you can continue to recruit guys who can get those second NBA contracts. Like that to me is where, you know, if you're a recruit and you're looking at this,
Starting point is 00:24:48 you're going, okay, getting it to the NBA is one thing. Landing a five-year, $204 million deal, that's generational money, Drew. And that to me is the real appeal if you're a young guy with NBA. dream. Yeah, and the former cats this week, Maxie, you had quickly at $175 million. That's a guy that came back after his first year at Kentucky, back when, you know, when weren't you seeing guys that were one and done, come back for another year, came back, had a great sophomore season.
Starting point is 00:25:19 He's now $175 million man. Bam, with another big contract. I'm sure Arkansas basketball will brag about it on social media this week, but John Caliperi's former players have made a lot of money in these, new signing since the draft. I mean, I think you tweeted it might be $6 billion or something like that. I mean, the undeniable element
Starting point is 00:25:40 is that Kentucky throughout its history, even before Cal, has been able to send guys to the league who are ready to compete at a high level in the league. And I think that to me is, if you're Mark Pope, you don't have to be Cal, I know I saw the press conference last week,
Starting point is 00:25:55 but I think being able to send guys to the league who can then get into the NBA and compete and stay. I mean, that to me is the real goal, because that's how you convince other guys to come and say, not only will you come here, play on a big stage, huge crowd, tradition, pedigree, but there's a track record that continues where guys are going to the league and they're making generational money on that second deal.
Starting point is 00:26:22 I mean, that to me is the real sale. That in a few months ago, even though, you know, it's kind of crazy, there were fans thinking Reed might come back and they were saying, but the NIL, you have NIL now. No, it's the head start on that second contract. Reed's going to get eight or nine, whatever it is to be the third pick, which is amazing money more than he would have gotten. But he gets a head start on that second deal. The hundreds of millions, if he were to pan out, it would be that good, who knows
Starting point is 00:26:49 about. But the fact that Emmanuel quickly is getting paid $175 million. There's just so much money in the association right now, and I'm glad a lot of the UK guys are getting it. and it's going to keep going up. Like it'll keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger. And I think that to me is the appeal, right? The Reed Shepard's second contract could be $250 million if he gets to that level.
Starting point is 00:27:13 So, I mean, that to me is the sell. If you're Mark Pope, that's what you want to continue. Not just getting guys to the league, but being able to save three, four years from now, now that guy got a second deal. And Mario just showed me Maxi said he used to pay for Quickly's Chick-fil-A in school. Well, now we got. I saw that. He made it sound like he wanted to collect.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Yeah, I think so. Hey, man, send me a check. Hey, between those two guys, half a billion dollars that they just signed, life ain't bad, man. We'll be back after this. Welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. So Drew, I'm out next week. I'm going to that family reunion. And thank you all for all the recommendations. I got a ton of suggestions on what I should bring to the family reunion in Mississippi. I think I'm going to go with like this dip. I can't think the guy who suggested it, but like this incredible dip that he said is a hit.
Starting point is 00:31:09 And I think I can pull it off, you know. I think based on the direction. I think the cream cheese. Yeah, that sounded good. I think I can pull that off, you know. I think that, you know, won't be controversial. I want to have to toss anybody's potato salad in this. trash to put mine, you know.
Starting point is 00:31:26 So that'll be fun, man. So we're making that trip later this week. So I'm off the show next week to go to Mississippi for the family reunion. I went to another family reunion, however, this past weekend on my mom's side. Mississippi's my dad's side. Milwaukee's my mom's side, Drew. 260 people. I mean, that was the number of people at this reunion.
Starting point is 00:31:49 We had a banquet on Friday night. It's a big, we're deep. And we all got on the same colors. You don't know what we got. You don't know. It's a little unnerving, I think, when people see us roll that deep. Friday night, we have an event, Drew, and it's a banquet, and there's serving plates. And, you know, the catering staff comes to me, and they put a plate on my table.
Starting point is 00:32:10 And I say, you know what? Hey, that looks great. It's fish and shrimp. I say, that looks amazing. Unfortunately, I have a shellfish allergy, which I do. So I'm allergic to shellfish. I'm that guy where you got to like, you know, at the Habachi grill, they got to clean it off. And I got to tell everybody.
Starting point is 00:32:30 It's just a, it's an annoyance. I get it. So I whisper this to the waitress, like, hey, I have a seafood allergy. Are there any alternatives? She kind of gives me a look like, I mean, she's like, all right, we'll go figure it out. Three minutes later, Drew, the head of the family reunion committee gets on stage with a microphone and says, I'm not sure why those of you who had seafood allergies didn't tell us beforehand.
Starting point is 00:32:56 There was an opportunity to check the box to show that you had a seafood allergy and we would have accommodated that. Since we have received late notice, we will do our best. And then she put the mic down. Now, Drew, it felt like she was talking directly to me, right? Was she talking to me? Did I do that?
Starting point is 00:33:15 I mean, was that okay. I wasn't there. I don't know anyone involved. she was talking to you. Directly to you. Directly to you. Okay. Was that necessary though? Right?
Starting point is 00:33:27 Like to me, don't you just come to me and say, hey, I hear you got a seafood allergy. You know, there was a list. Because I admit, Drew, I'm the guy when you send me a wedding invitation and you say what me, I don't care. Just give me some food. Like, you know, I'm not always as particular as I should be about filling things out. but instead of coming to me, Drew,
Starting point is 00:33:50 she gets on stage with a microphone and basically yells at me from the stage. That didn't feel fair to me. That felt like she could have come to me directly, maybe, right? You were attacked. You were attacked at your family union.
Starting point is 00:34:05 That could have been a text. Easily could have been a text. Yeah. That could have been quick. Hey, Marron, love to have you. Sorry, we didn't work out this earlier. The kitchen's going to do their best. We apologize.
Starting point is 00:34:15 You know, you could have done better. We're going to get. there. I don't know that bringing in the other 239 people there, that's necessary. They didn't even know that you said that to the server, I assume. No, but it felt like an attack,
Starting point is 00:34:30 it felt personal a little bit. I'm like, go on, this is on stage. And she was looking at my direction, by the way. Not even though like looking the opposite way. No. No. She said those of you with the seafood allergy. I'm the only one that had one,
Starting point is 00:34:45 to my knowledge. It wasn't anybody else. drew so clearly it's me that's saying it and she's looking in my direction she left it open to be plural she gave it a chance that maybe they were multiple but you knew you probably felt like a spotlight on you even though there wasn't one 100% in that room it probably felt like the lighting guy turned to you and just made you the focal point it was it was getting hot I was sweating a little bit you know I mean because I'm like wait a minute is she on stage talking to me so that was Friday where I'm seafood allergy guy and I get reverend. On Saturday, we take a group picture with 260 people.
Starting point is 00:35:22 Now, here's the thing. We ain't had no professional take the photo. It was just a dude with a camera. You know, it was a lot. You know, like, you should have a professional do that. We didn't have that. We just had a guy with a camera. So we're trying to arrange ourselves to take this photo with 260 people.
Starting point is 00:35:36 During the photo, Drew, I'm talking about as we're aligning ourselves, somebody lit up in extracurricular, you know, kind of thing, right? You know, I don't know what you can say on the radio, but something that's smelled. And it's coming from my direction. It ain't me, but it's coming from my direction.
Starting point is 00:36:00 So now you see the little turns toward my area where people are wondering, where is this coming from. Now I'm a suspect, Drew. I didn't do it. Had nothing to do with it. I'm a suspect. Now day two, I'm in trouble.
Starting point is 00:36:15 Right? So day two, I go from seafood allergy guy to is this guy is somebody in his area or a part of his group sparking something in the middle of the group photo. That's not a good look either, Drew. That's not a good luck, I don't think.
Starting point is 00:36:32 No, I would think in an event of this size, you just want to remain anonymous. You want to see people. 100%. You want to give your hugs, your hello's, but you don't want to be a main character at this event. But it sounds like at this point on day two, you are a main character.
Starting point is 00:36:44 24 hours in. I mean, the bank was last night, at the park the next day, all of a sudden, now I'm a suspect. Here's my question, though, Drew. So I come from a big, big family. I'll be honest with you.
Starting point is 00:36:56 I got some relatives who are corporate attorneys and business owners, you know, police, lieutenant, some very successful people. But I also got some guys in my family who we didn't hear from
Starting point is 00:37:07 from 1999 to 2006. You know what I mean? And nobody asked any questions. You know what I mean? Maybe you were on vacation. I don't know. But, you know, we got some brothers who, you know, 99 to 2006, you didn't hear from them. There were conversations within the family about potential suspects who may have sparked the extracurricular, right, during the group photo.
Starting point is 00:37:32 My question to you, Drew, is this. Because I feel the heat, do I send a text or an email saying to whom it may concern? I know maybe things were rough with me, but here are the three suspects that actually could have done it on Saturday. Like, do I, is that, is that, does that make me a snitch? Like what, what would you do?
Starting point is 00:37:53 Because I feel like I got to take the heat off of me and if I name the other potential suspects that might do it? What do you think about that? I don't think you can name other suspects. We don't want to narc at the family union, but I do believe that you need to clear the air. you need to let people know you are shellfish guy you'll take that heat any shellfish
Starting point is 00:38:16 related things that's you but the other stuff you don't want to be lumped into that so i think you need to let it be known shrimp keep the shrimp jokes over here i had nothing to do with the devil's lettuce yeah i mean but if i here's my thought drew if i name the other potential suspects does that turn attention to them or does that make me look more suspicious like what would you think. If you were ahead of the family reunion committee and you knew that shellfish guy was now saying that it wasn't him
Starting point is 00:38:45 with the extracurriculars doing the group photo, what would you think about that text message or email? I worry that you're now just further digging yourself in a hole if you start naming other people because at that point they might not even care what is in the air. Now they're focused on you just
Starting point is 00:39:02 tattletelling on cousins and then they're wondering if they can trust you with other information. Stuff that's may even be innocent, but you've now already disrupted dinner by having them make something different. Even though it's not your fault, we have a scene with smoke in the air, and now you are also identifying people. I just think you're doing too much at that point. Stand in the corner, disappear, and get out of there. I mean, you're probably right, Drew, but there's a part of me. It's like, well, then what happens next year?
Starting point is 00:39:29 Do I show up as shellfish guy in suspect number one? I don't like that, you know? So I, you know, what, maybe, maybe instead of naming people directly, maybe instead, Drew, I say, okay, yes, I am shellfish guy. I apologize. I should have said something earlier. Like, I can take that. Saturday's group photo, I was not involved. However, there were three individuals wearing red shoes with black laces who may or may not have been responsible for what unfolded.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Is that too much, Drew? Is that still? Those are pretty specific. Pretty specific detail. Not names, though. It ain't names. We're not using names. No names.
Starting point is 00:40:10 That's true. But I mean, I don't know how many red shoes were at the event, but I'm going to assume that's going to narrow the crowd down quite a bit. Let me at past family unions here. Are you part of the, like, are you a main character there? Like, have you done things in before where they're already kind of identifying you? Yeah. You normally at times. No, at times.
Starting point is 00:40:32 I can be a little bit of main character. character. I have had that, but not so much recently. I'm usually kind of laid back. This was my first main character experience in a while, but it was by mistake. I mean, I wasn't trying to be, which is, which is why I felt like, you know, if I just send a little message that, you know, what, maybe you might want to check the guy who had the green jacket on. I'm not going to say any names. So green jacket, red shoes. We've certainly narrowed down pretty far now. But, but would, I just wonder if they would read that and feel like it's definitely someone else or would they think this is just shellfish guy trying to take the heat off something else he did to mess up the vibe.
Starting point is 00:41:09 I just, I don't like the circumstance. If you're going to bring people down, you need fake outrage. You need to send, hey, everyone, I didn't want to have to do this, but it's been bothering me. It's been several days, and I still can't believe someone lit up at our family reunion. I don't know who it was. I have suspicions. It was the green jacket, red shoes. Doesn't matter who it was.
Starting point is 00:41:26 Just don't do it again. And that way, it looks like it wasn't you. I like that idea, just being fed up and frustrated. Like, I can't believe this happened. And then I take the attention off of Friday. Then people forget that shellfish guy, you know, had to interrupt dinner because he didn't fill out the form properly. I like that, man. Well, it's just something I thought about.
Starting point is 00:41:46 Obviously, going to another reunion this weekend in Mississippi where that, this was just like the appetizer. This one is a whole other, there's a whole other situation, you know, because the hooch is going to be involved. So we'll see what happens at this next family reunion. I think we got a call or two. Do we have a call? I want to get to at least one of the calls. Who's first? You got a call?
Starting point is 00:42:06 Peanut? Hey, Peanut, how you doing? Yeah, I was going. I'm good. How you doing? Peanut, did you? Good. Did you hear my story about what happened at this family union?
Starting point is 00:42:17 I did. What would you do if you were me? I'd probably just let it ride, man. Leave it alone? It ain't that big a deal. Yeah, I leave it alone. Okay, I'll leave it alone. But, you know, it's a big summer reunion.
Starting point is 00:42:35 I got a big family, too. You know, I'm from a small town. Like back when they had phone books, like 75% of the phone book was Mattingly's. I'm a Maddinger. Okay. So you get it. You get it. I got a couple things.
Starting point is 00:42:48 I think Bob came in a little harsh today. He did. Very harsh. He's a fairly, he's a fairly newer caller. He used to have some great calls, but he's been a little bit uptight here lately. He said he was so bored this morning. But other than that, and I got a lot of gray hair too, Drew. And when they cut my hair, I look on the floor and say,
Starting point is 00:43:08 There's a dead possum on the ground. I'm going to take that one. Certainly not my hair. I like that. There's a dead possum on the ground. I like that one. I like that. That's what it looks like.
Starting point is 00:43:22 But I've had gray hair since I was like 21, so it's kind of wild. I appreciate that. I'm happy to rock it. Yeah, man. And listen, man, I respect Bob. I don't know Bob. Listen, if I'm not your cup of tea, I get it. I'm okay with it.
Starting point is 00:43:40 You know, we all got preferences. That's okay. You know what I mean? So live and let live. Enjoy life. I'm cool with it either way. Yep. But yeah, I appreciate it. What you got? One more thing about Louisville.
Starting point is 00:43:55 Yeah, what you got? You say it however you want, man. I've been in Orlando for about 10 years. I don't even say Louisville no more to people when they ask when I'm from. I tell them I tell them Louisville just so they know what I'm talking about. Really? switch it up. Surrendered.
Starting point is 00:44:10 Wow, you switch up when you're not. Wow. That's it. Do you do that, Drew? Like if you're like in Arkansas somewhere, you don't switch up. No, I think I actually, and I've had friends tell me this, I play up my accent when I'm out of Kentucky. I don't know why. I don't do it intentionally, but I think I just need to let people know.
Starting point is 00:44:29 I got a little country in me. I didn't even think about that. Switching it up so people understand. Okay. Well, I appreciate the call. Lots of people agree with him on Bob. I have the A-Vision Glass text machine. Ryan left it with me where I just get all these messages.
Starting point is 00:44:45 A lot of people want me to stand up for you against Bob. They didn't like that call. So you got a lot of supporters on this anonymous phone line. I appreciate the support. You know, listen, it's been a great experience. Maybe since the call, maybe he's gotten something. Maybe he's had a family situation where somebody, you know, lit up an extracurricular, you know, after you had an incident Friday night where you were to
Starting point is 00:45:08 selfish guy. Maybe he can relate to that. I don't know. But people are tweeting and saying that apparently I'm on the brink of maybe getting expelled from the next reunion. Like, if I take this step to send the email, Drew, that it actually might backfire. Is there a potential for that, you think? Could this backfire? I do. I mean, I already worry you've gone too far, not even at your own fault, just by simply whispering, I have an allergy. We've got to find a way to walk you back to just blending in at this point. And maybe Bob needs to go find your relative with the green shirt and the red shoes. Maybe loosen up a little bit.
Starting point is 00:45:43 Have a little fun. Listen, I'm just, and I'm not saying it was him with the green jacket. I'm just saying it's something to consider. You know what I mean? That's all I'm saying. They were just talk about suspects. It wasn't me. And I just want to take some of the heat off of me, man, because, you know, Friday,
Starting point is 00:46:01 grabbing the microphone and saying, hey, seafood. people, why didn't you tell us earlier? That was a little harsh. I wonder if Bob set that up. Maybe that was, maybe Bob was the one who was at my family reunion and he's the one who slipped the note to the person who went on stage and called me out. Maybe that was it. I don't know, man, but that seemed a little over the top for what could have been a private, I felt like a private conversation. At the same time, Drew, am I at fault for not filling out the form? Is that on me? A little bit, but it doesn't warrant a announcement. from the stage with a microphone in front of everyone.
Starting point is 00:46:38 I feel like you're going to get your redemption next week. I've got to be it. Since last Monday, we have a lot of things that stick. We'll see people out. They'll ask us questions, tweet us. Several people have asked me what dish you decided on, what you're going to make. I don't think you understand the level of interest in your upcoming family reunion and how that's going to go for you. There's been a lot of KSR people reaching out the last few days about that.
Starting point is 00:47:03 No, I appreciate it. They've been DMing me and sending me recipes, and I'm really grateful. I think the dip is probably the easiest one for me to actually execute once I get to Mississippi. We got one more break here. We'll be back after this. Last night, a blown call changed a game. Just a few more minutes left here on KSR, another Merry Monday for everybody except maybe Bob. Maybe Bob cheered up a little bit after that. I don't know. We got another read though here. We do.
Starting point is 00:50:22 This segment is brought to us by Red State Barbecue. For almost 14 years, Red State has remained and still is Lexington's only multi-award winning roadside barbecue joint located on US 25 on the outskirts of Lexington. Red State offers some of Kentucky's best barbecue on a daily basis. You get the ribs, the pork, the chicken, the brisket, chicken wings, a variety of sausages and double-smoke brisket. I like their Alabama showhorse, little Alabama white sauce. Put that on everything. And don't forget those picnic sides like corn pudding, potato salad, and of course a fan favorite, their big shell mac and cheese.
Starting point is 00:50:56 This ad read is already making me so hungry. That's at Red State Barbecue. You can find them at 4,020 Georgetown Road in Lexington. that's Red State, and I might be going straight there for lunch. Can we go there after the Waffle House maybe? We're going to take you on a food tour. Yeah, we're going to show you around. Yeah, I mean, now I'm going to need a nap.
Starting point is 00:51:16 That sounds amazing, though. You take me to Waffle House and get some brisket and what is that big shell macaroni? Big shell mac and cheese. Ryan will take you on the nap. Every day at 1230, Ryan gives his nap after the show. He wears them out. It's too much. I'm with it, man.
Starting point is 00:51:31 Fun show, as always, I was thinking that someone tweeted. We're talking about the Olympics. That's how we started the show. What event do you think you'd have the best chance to get a medal in, you think? None of them, but if we're just saying best chance, I might be able to pick on some small country that doesn't have a golfer if they just throw someone out there. Now that golf's in the Olympics, that's my only hope.
Starting point is 00:51:53 Anything else? No chance. I wonder, I don't know, man. Could I throw a jabbling, you think? Like, could I, would I have a chance? Like if I, you know, if I took a little bit of training, or no chance. Like, could I get it to, could I throw it even? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:52:09 You can throw it. You think I'd like to throw it too far. You think I could throw it? Yeah, I think I'd love to try it. I don't think I could meddle in it. I don't know if I'd have a shot in any sport, but I'd want to try. You need one of these obscure ones. That, but that's the, you know, that's the fastest, you know, it's not a ball,
Starting point is 00:52:25 but like that's the fastest sport, you know, because of how fast it travels. So, I mean, Batman's tough, man. maybe ping pong probably not I love ping pong I can do a flip like into like some cotton you know
