Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, here's Matt Jones.
This is not Matt Jones.
It's Drew Franklin.
Matt Jones is at some librarian, Hogwarts, enjoying his vacation, six of his vacation.
But with me, I have Billy Rutledge, who never stops working for High Heart.
Adam Luckett, the king of all things on the Kentucky football beat,
and Ms. Tyler Thompson, who makes Kentucky SportsRadio.com run.
We're going to get to a little more of the calls, a little more football talk,
but first I want to tell you about our friends at cornbread hemp.
You know, Americans are in danger of losing their right to full-spectrum CBD products
like the ones made at cornbread hemp.
And at this very moment, prohibition groups are trying to reverse the 2018 farm bill
that made hemp illegal, which means recriminalizing a plant that we depend on for a better quality of life.
The good news is you can help.
There's still time to act.
go to cornbreadhemp.com slash KSR and click on the link to contact your members of Congress to tell them very politely to keep cornbread legal.
That's cornbreadhimp.com slash KSR.
Tyler, just take some cornbread last night, you said?
I did to get up early.
Yeah, I knew I had to hit the road early, so I went to bed early and I wanted to wind down.
I had one of the berry gummies.
The berries, my favorite flavor.
I love it.
I like the watermelon, big watermelon fan.
Here we have a call on the lawn.
Let's go to our caller.
Who we have, Matt?
Darrell, thanks for calling in.
What do you have for us?
Okay.
Darrell.
Oh, here we go.
What's up?
We're not interrupting.
How are you guys doing?
I was here at the car lot.
We heard.
What's going on?
Haven't heard from you a while.
Not much.
Just staying busy.
They got a few things.
You know, I know y'all talked about Mario and everything he's doing with you guys.
but I got a chance to watch Mario on the hardwood this past weekend.
He's got a little game.
He can't hear you right now.
Mario, we got a caller saying you got a little game.
Did you play some ball this weekend?
Some game, basketball?
Did you play?
Mario's acting like you don't know what you're talking about, Daryl.
Yeah, he played against the OPB Swish, which is the new women's team on Sunday.
He got the chance to play with them.
I think J.D. Harmon, a bunch of UK players.
Gotcha.
And my son Jackson went down and played in the women's team.
That's why I want to tell everybody, you know, UK fans, you got Michaela Epps, Victoria Dunlap,
all playing on the new pro-women's team coming to eastern Kentucky.
Nice.
What was the name of that pro-women's team?
OPB Swish.
Oh, now he remember.
I was about to tell you, Darrell, you're crazy because Mario didn't know what I was talking about,
but now he remembers, you know, just casually forgetting about playing basketball.
last weekend. You got anything else for us, Daryl? No, I was just going to ask, you know, I get a chance
to watch all of them quite a bit, but wanted to get y'all's opinion on Jasper or Moreno. If you could have
one, if you only could pick one, which one are you taking? Well, thank you for that question.
We appreciate the call. I'm going to take the easy way out and say I want both desperately.
They're different positions. You can't make us choose between the number one and two,
player in Kentucky. Can we, are we allowed? This is our exercise. Can we just say,
package deal? Won't both? Sure, yeah. Jasper keeps the pipeline going, right? Yeah.
It keeps the, we got the family pipeline there, so that keeps that role. After hearing
Moreno's older brother, Michael on the show the other day, I want him, like, as a, you know,
a big brother to the program. Like, he was great. And the picture of Ryan next to Moreno was
fantastic. It was exactly what I wanted. That's right, yeah. It was really great hearing from
Malacan, Michael, like both those guys. And we're really,
for Michael. We'll want him to, or Malachi, we'll want him to do well wherever he goes, but
hopefully it's with the cats. We can't wait any longer on Warren County. Billy did a lot of homework.
Tyler did some homework. I've been to Warren County. Luckett, I'm sure you've been to Warren County.
Absolutely. So we all have Warren County things. That is, of course, Bowling Green.
That's right. Didn't need to do a lot of research on this. Bowling Green has a lot going on.
Our Union counties and our trembles, we kind of got to get in the weeds a little bit and find
some stuff. Bowling Green, we could do a whole show.
show on, I'll just,
or we can't talk. Warren County, I'll do a whole
show on 23rd County. Do you know that
Billy? 23rd. No, I did not know that.
I feel like that's pretty far west to be number 23.
Michael Jordan County. There you go.
Population 135,000.
Okay.
Billy went to school there at Western
Kentucky University, and I think what
people want to know most about Bowling Green is what
did a young Billy Rutledge do
while he was in school? Tried to stay out of trouble.
Did you succeed? And I did not.
If you want to talk specifically about Western Kentucky, there's one place that you need to know, and it's called Hilligans.
It's the bar at the bottom of the hill next to Cherry Hall.
That is where you go to get initiated.
That's where you go on your 21st birthday.
And maybe where you go and get kicked out of one night, maybe one or two nights.
Maybe.
Maybe.
That sounds like a personal story.
Allegedly.
I can't expand any further due to my counsel telling me I can't speak on that.
But I do want to talk about Warren County before we just dive in.
completely on Western Kentucky. I did some research.
Warren County was named after
General Joseph Warren of the Revolutionary War.
He famously sent Paul Revere out on his midnight run.
That was pretty important. We all remember
that where he warned us the British were coming.
So Paul, what didn't even go if this guy wasn't like, hey man, Paul,
get out there. You got to let him know. He was kind of like
the Matt Jones, Billy, go pick something up, go tell people that the British are coming
and then I end up doing that. So
General Joseph Warren, who the county is named after,
Like Drew said, it's the 10th largest county with 130, but the fifth most populous county.
So by area, it's the 10th largest and fifth by most people, Boling Green being the third biggest city in the state.
Bowling Green got its name after a square in New York City that was actually named Boling Green,
where patriots pulled down a statue of King George III and used the lead to make bullets during the American Revolutionary War.
So Boling Green gets its name from a square in New York City.
Did the other bowling greens also do that?
There are several bowling games.
They are.
I'm not sure.
I'd like to think so, though.
We prefer the Kentucky one.
We do.
Also the famous one in Ohio, and I think there's even more than that, too, not just the one in Kentucky.
Western Kentucky, the university founded in 1906, originally named Western Kentucky State Normal School.
And after that, it was also a normal school and teachers college.
So teachers went to go learn what they needed to do there before it became the third largest public university.
What is a normal school?
I don't know why it was named normal school.
Maybe we'll get somebody from Warren County that can educate us on more of the history of Western Kentucky,
but originally named normal school and then a teacher's college.
We do need our Warren County callers, 859-280-2287.
Some things to do in Warren County is the National Corvette Museum.
It's the only place in the world where corvettes are made.
And famously, I think maybe one of the first years that I was there,
a sinkhole opened up underneath the Corvette Museum.
And I believe they've preserved it.
Like, it's actually there.
You can still see the cars.
They're at the bottom of the sinkhole if you want to see that.
So if you have a Corvette, it was likely made in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
My West Broadway Elementary School.
We took a field trip there.
Is that right?
Yeah, great times.
They also have the Lost River Cave system.
It's seven miles where you can do underground boating and zip lines down there in Bowling Green.
And then some famous people.
I may need a little help on the famous people.
I didn't see too many.
There is Ben Bailey, the host of Cash Cab.
There you go.
If you remember that show.
And then Sam Bush, who is an American musician,
considered the originator of progressive bluegrass music.
What about Duncan Hines, the cake guy?
That's pretty famous.
He's from Bowling Green.
Duncan Hines was born in Bowling Green in 1880,
now famous for boxed cake.
Brownies?
I don't know.
What else is Duncan Hans have?
Sounds right.
You said Ben Bailey.
John Carpenter, the director of Halloween, went to Western.
Oh, how about that?
Love that movie.
Not nearly as famous as you.
some famous athletes
Hillbilly Jim the wrestler
Some websites say
Warren County
Others list a place called Mudlick
It is where exactly in Kentucky
I'm not certain but some websites
Credit him as Bowling Green
Rex Chapman was born in Bowling Green
Oh Rex Chapman
One of the more famous
Football players who is still
Cashing NFL checks is George Fant
George Fant
Look and I know you're familiar with his story
similar to the commitment we just got.
He was a basketball player.
He thought, yeah, I'll try this.
Now he's played tackle in the NFL for like a decade.
Nappy Roots?
Oh, no, hell no.
Shout out, poe folks.
That's right.
Great group.
That's all I know.
That was my one.
I like George Phant played four years of basketball.
It wasn't like Campbell where he picked it up along the lines.
He was done and just went to the Western Pro Day with the football players
and the Seahawks had personnel there and said,
who's that guy?
Well, he played one year of tight end, I think it was,
when I was still at the school.
and then Justin Johnson did it, so it was like a little pipeline,
a basketball players playing on the football team,
and then George got a shot, and he ended up playing what left tackle in the league?
So, I mean, that's a long time.
You talk about important positions that may be number two or three.
He's on their roster for this upcoming season.
George is a great guy.
I knew him personally and wish him the best of luck.
But if I can convey people to go to one place in Bowling Green, it's Hilligans.
That is the spot.
That is where all the students go.
You may stick out like a sore thumb, Drew,
now being a reaching 40 there getting close to it but at the same time I think you would appreciate it as somebody that's gone to college bars across the country
Yeah like what's the cutoff age like when you walk in
Everybody looks into you in there like you're too old I think I'm getting there I mean I'm at 29 and they're like
What are you doing old timer? But no that was that was the spot where a lot of great times have been made
Couple more athletes on the football team right now in Lexington Jansen Dunn and Jordan Dingell and Brother Justice Dingell
who played last year from Bowling Green.
Some of my favorite places,
Old Stone Golf Course, even though I've never played it.
This is me sucking up to my friends to invite me.
Kent, everyone, Claude, everyone that lives there.
I'd love to get around this summer.
Cheney's Dairy Barn.
KSR did a show there.
Maybe some of the best ice cream in Kentucky.
They got the hot rods.
Billy, you've been to a hot rods game before.
I worked there for an entire year as, I guess,
not an intern, but a part-timer.
So I understood the grind of minor league baseball.
and they are the single-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays,
I guess back in the day when there was a low-A affiliate.
But we've seen a lot of good players from the Rays go through that farm system.
Tyler, do you have any strong Warren County thoughts?
So I think of Warren County.
I think of stoplights because there's that one stretch of Scottsville Road
when you get off I-65 and Bowling Green.
And it's the main drag, and it stretches forever.
And there is a fun fact about this from the Bowling Green tourism website.
Bowling Green supposedly has more restaurants per capita than any other city in the United States,
and they're all on Scottsville Road.
I mean, think of a chain restaurant, fast food restaurant.
I'm serious.
You could look around.
My husband and I have counted them.
I mean, anything that you can think of, it's on that road.
Long John Silver Breakfast?
Probably.
A way to find out.
A couple local favorites were Mr. Bees, Griff's Deli, the bistro is another one.
Publa Novo.
Yeah, that's my favorite place.
I hadn't been there, but that does sound good.
And that's it.
I think that's about all I got for Warren County.
I've got some more.
Carry on.
Yeah, so my husband and I have a small place on Barron River Lake, which is in Allen County,
but near Bowling Green, it's about 30 minutes.
So whenever we're up there and we want to, you know, go to the big city, so to speak,
we go to Bowling Green.
And we love Pied by Novo outside of KS Bar, probably the best wings I've ever had.
It's something just amazing about that sauce.
I don't know what it is, but they do it well.
Also, White Squirrel Brewery, which is a brewery run by some local guys.
Shout out to Sean.
They actually had opened a place in one place in Bowling Green and then closed down during the pandemic.
And they've reopened in a different spot.
And their tap room is huge.
So if you're a big craft beer fan, check out White Squirrel.
Love them.
They're big UK fans.
And also, I noticed today driving through, if you haven't driven through Bowling Green or buy it on 65 lately,
their sign game is strong.
They have like these massive Bowling Green signs.
I don't know.
Have you seen them from here?
Yeah, it's like rock walls.
Yes.
They've got, I counted seven flags in addition to a giant American flag.
So there's one when you come into Bowling Green and one when you go out.
So their sign game is strong.
I don't know if it's in Warren Central or Warren County, but there's Dinosaur World that you have to drive by to get by it.
Don't you be taking things out of Barron County and putting them in Warren County.
Barron County will get very upset.
Yeah, of course you have you have to recognize.
recognize that big dinosaur out there.
And then, you know, some of the schools there, you know, Bowling Green,
but there's Warren East, South Warren,
Greenwood, Warren Central, all these schools I worked for back then doing play-by-play,
a young Billy R sports back in the day.
Got a little cage the elephant, too.
Caged the elephant.
Yep, they came and did a show at the football stadium when I was there.
And obviously, they've become a much better football school over the last few years
with Jeff Brom when he was there before he's now at Louisville.
Shout out Lonell DeWalt, the best.
kickwalker I've ever seen of all time well it's fun going through warren county little uh billy memories

Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Drew Franklin here, having fun with a text machine.
I'm replying to a guy.
He's having me rank my favorite beers, post-mo beer, Friday beer, beach beer, cookout beer.
That's a great July 4th.
It is.
This is all the fun we have on the text machine.
Me just talking to people, I don't even know them.
It's just a number.
I don't know, male, female, age, but we're having lots of fun there.
Also, lots of Tyler compliments.
Hey.
I'm trying to find the exact message I've lost it, but someone said...
I had to scroll too far.
That's probably not.
There's one in particular I wanted to find, but they were complimenting your long-form writing like you did with Stacey Reed
and the one you wrote about your dad.
They said was your favorite.
But lots of Tyler compliments there.
I'll try to find more as we read text machines text throughout the day.
But right now, we got a little parlay talk.
It's time to get the parlay band back together.
We've been in the lab.
We wanted to do a little U.S. soccer.
They fizzled out.
They're gone out of the Cop America, so I realized this upcoming weekend.
is the John Deere Classic.
I might even go to the John Deere Classic.
The wife and I have looked at hotel rooms.
Got a friend playing in it, a former champion.
But I'm going to be very interested in that tournament.
And I thought, let's do our first golf parlay.
How do you do a golf parlay you ask?
Many ways.
But in this case, we're picking three golfers to finish top 40.
That's it?
Top 40?
Don't be doing that that's it like a easy.
This is still going to be pretty long odds.
But that's all we need.
We need three people to have a top.
40 finish this week in Sylvice, Illinois.
You know where that is? I don't.
I thought it was about Chicago. In my research last night, I realized we might be celebrating
the fourth in Iowa. It is basically Davenport, Iowa. I've already looked into their red, white,
and boom, but no one cares about what I'm doing. Let's talk a little golf. Billy, we let you
have first pick and who you're choosing in the top 40 KSR parlay presented by Draft King's
Sportsbook. Well, we don't want this parlay to be impossible, so I think we throw at least one
favorite out there, right?
You do the favorite.
I like you being the favorite.
Looking at John Deere Classic, it looks like we're getting the B lineup.
It's a lot of guys that aren't participating in the majors.
So when I see a name like Jordan Speath, who's, what, plus $2,200 to win alone, but
we're going top 40.
I think I've got to throw Jordan Speeith in there, right?
Speeith, I think, believe a former John Deere winner, good player.
I'm taking it.
Top 40, Spieth.
Love that pick.
He looks like he's minus 225.
Okay, so I like that's a pretty.
That's a favorite there.
Who's your pick?
Any parley, you've got to have
Surebet. Speeth is our sure bet
here this week. Drew, as
you all know, this is my will house here.
Big golf guy on the KSR website.
And with golf gambling, there's a ton of stuff you can do.
So be careful.
If you get into that rabbit hole.
But it's definitely a fun sport to bet on because of everything
you can wager on.
But for me, I'm going to go Keith Mitchell
here, Drew.
Casimir Keith. Long hitter off the
T. Can't miss him wearing a big, thick
a visor. He essentially
finishes top 30 in every tournament
as long as he makes a cut. So he should
make a cut in a field like this. He's got a
really good chance to contend. Not only top
40, but I think he could be in the top 10. He could
be in one of those final groups on Sunday if he puts
it all together. So give me Keith Mitchell
this week. Kashmir Keith is minus
190. I like that. The visor
play. I do like it. The visor is
what he's known for, but anyone, even if
you don't care about golf, watch golf,
you'll spot him because he unbuttons his
shirt so far down to let that
chest hair rock. I mean, you can almost see belly button through the top of his shirt.
He keeps that thing so low. I'm going to bring us to get us to the odds we need to make this
parlay last with a little bit of a long shot. Luckett, I know you're familiar with an absolute
legend named Harry Higgs. He had a rough 2023. Didn't get a tour card this year, but he played
his way back on the corn fairy. He won not one, but two, back-to-back playoff tournaments to get his
card. He's hot. He hold out to even force a playoff to win one of those. He's now back on the
tour. He's fired up. We love him. He took his shirt off and the waistman had been open a
couple years ago. I feel like Harry Higgs is going to complete our parlay with this top 40.
The Tidos could be flowing in Davenport, Iowa this weekend.
Here's our issue with Harry Higgs, though. Sometimes maybe Titos could be flowing. Just kidding. He wouldn't
do that. But, you know, if it goes wrong, it goes wrong. So do we feel good about a top 40?
He's plus 160. This is a long shot.
Here's the thing about this.
You're really betting him to make the cut.
Yeah.
You make the cut.
You have pretty good chance to get into that top 40.
So as long as he makes the cut, I think it's a big tournament for Higgs.
He really needs to play well.
He really needs to have a, not only make the cut, but really get, like, contend here.
So I like that play here.
He just played in the U.S. Open.
Did not play.
I don't think terrible at the U.S. Open.
So, yeah, you're back in a golfer who's been on this level trying to get back to this level in a big spot.
Got that car.
He's hungry.
I do like our analysis is that one guy unbuttoned.
his shirt a lot and the other one has
taken his shirt off after
one hole. So we're high on
that taking the shirts off. We are
we like a little skinned with our.
Ryan Lemon's not even here. But you can check. I'm going to actually have them put this
on the app. Maybe we'll, as ridiculous
as that was, well, you'll find it in the golf segment over at
Draft King Sportsbook. Be sure to use promo code KSR.
New customers can get up to 150 in bonus bets instantly
when you bet only $5. Only on
Draft Kings. The crown is yours. But we're not
not done talking draft kings. Tiler found, I don't even know you could do this, we have Nathan's
hot dog eating odds. I don't even know who's in it with Joey Chestnut. Who's the star these days?
Does it even exist if Joey Chestnut's in it and not in it? And yes, it does. So there are odds.
You can bet on who will win the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest this year. And obviously Joey Chestnut
was banned from the event because he signed a deal with impossible, you know, the fake meat stuff.
and that just did not fly.
He's doing his own event, which Billy will tell us about in a minute.
But if you do want to dabble on the Nathan's hot dog eating contest,
Jeffrey Esper is the current favorite.
He finished second last year.
You can get him at minus 115 odds.
So here are a few of his accomplishments, his eating records.
He ate 9.75 pounds of spam from the can in eight minutes.
That's impressive.
That's impressive.
That's disgusting.
What about 281 buffalo chicken wings in 12 minutes?
Oh, he could do some damage at KS Bar.
Yeah, it's Wings Day.
He's not invited to Wings Day.
And then finally, 17.75, and I love that we get so specific with the numbers here.
Bagels with cream cheese in eight minutes.
The stuff people manage to find.
How much cream cheese?
Yeah, I know.
Like, I feel is that a regulated amount?
I feel like it would slow you down, right?
I mean, you go to Dunkin' Donuts, and they're putting about a pound of cream cheese on there.
So we're talking about light spread, things?
expert, I'd like to know.
Yeah, is this in New York serving here?
They probably don't serve himself either.
You know, he probably comes with the cream cheese.
I would hope they're all regulated amounts.
Right, right, exactly.
It is always disgusting when they dip the dog in the water.
Oh, yeah.
But there's strategy there.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, you have to keep it.
I know way too much about this.
You live blog about it every year.
Yeah, we used to live blog it and now the live blog is gone, RIP,
but we will have a thread going on KS board.
Although I wonder since Joey Chestnut's not in it, will people actually watch it?
I mean, obviously someone else is going to win, so does that make it more interesting, or are people just not going to care?
There will be shoveling hot dogs down the gullet.
I think people are going to want to watch.
So some of Jeffrey Esper's competition, James Webb, you can get him at plus 180 right now.
His records are 70 glazed donuts in eight minutes.
Just the random foods they decide to be competitive with.
Oh, this is the weirdest one.
338 pistachios in eight minutes.
Oh, he's not cracking those either.
They've got to be already, like, yeah, deshelled or whatever.
Nick Wherry, he's the ex-ckel.
Is that eater X?
I think that's Eater X.
That's who I'm probably going to take.
Yeah, he is plus $750 right now on Draft Kings,
and his is the weirdest and probably the grossest to me.
He ate 50 hard-oiled eggs in three minutes and four seconds.
So it's like the first to finish wins.
Three minutes.
Some of these are disgusting.
It's more bathroom.
We're going to take a quick break.
Maybe go ahead and get our wing order in for Wingsday here.
We're buying lunch.
But this is Drew, Billy Taller, and Adam on KSR.
We'll be right back with more football talk.
Maybe more competitive eating talk.

Welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Come on, Billy. Tap your feet.
You know what's a bop.
I've heard this.
I don't know if I know the dance, though.
I don't know the dance.
I requested this.
It's a song called Austin.
It gets stuck in my head, and I love it.
I heard it in a store one day, and I said, Abby, who is this person singing?
I can't stop tapping my feet.
And that is why it is our Whiskey Thief song of the day.
I think her name's Dasha.
I don't know, but her bootstop.
Don't stop working, and mine don't either.
So, Matt, thank you for playing that.
It's what happens when you let me and charge the music here on.
You've been watching a little too much TikTok, I think.
That sounds like a TikTok song.
It's not where I heard it.
I heard it in Nashville, actually, furniture shopping.
Shocker. Good times.
Matt, let's put you back to work and go to the phone lines if we have someone there for us.
Sean, thank you for calling into KSR.
What's up?
Hey, I don't live in Warren County, but I've worked and lived in and out of Warren County for the last 30 years.
So Warren County is a great place.
Every county that surrounds Warren County depends on the Bowling Green area.
So Warren County is a great place.
Sure is.
Got anything else for us or just shouting out Warren County?
I love it.
Appreciate the call.
Of course.
It earned that shout out.
Yeah, and he's not lying.
Like, Warren County and Bowling Green, it's growing so fast.
Like, it feels like every time we drive there, there's a new, you know, neighborhood popping up.
And I'm sure there's some stat about how it's like one of the fastest growing cities in Kentucky.
And people did mention we forgot the Beach Bend Park that's there.
And I've never been there, but it is a tradition in Bowling Green.
Does it have a beach?
No.
It has a bend.
There's a water slide, though.
I'm pretty loyal to Clark's Pumping Shop.
Got it tat on me.
That's where I'm going for my gas.
Got a little, I gotta go get my marathon around Lexington, but we do, we should probably mention that Warren County just got a gigantic Buckees. That's a big deal for them.
Yeah.
So if you're into Buckees, that's there. But we'll be Clark's pumping and chopping.
They also have a Chick-fil-A play place off of 65, which is-this sounds like a set.
Which is a big deal for the Lucket family.
On our long-road trips to see the in-laws of Florida. That is, Chick-fil-A play places are worth their weight and gold.
I feel like you don't see a lot of play places anymore.
You do not.
They're hard to find.
I know.
McDonald's used to have them all the time.
So that's a must stop, the Chick-fil-A play place.
Love that.
I feel like the way you talk about it, you act like you've been to war on some of these road trips.
Yeah, you have not.
You just did one.
Didn't you go to Florida?
You took the whole family, you drove.
Disney World.
We did.
We did Orlando.
We did Disney.
Orlando.
We did the international drive.
We did the whole shebang.
And the drive down there was an adventure to save a list.
Oh, man.
I always feel like Florida's the adventure.
So you had an adventure to get to the adventure and then an adventure home?
It was, I mean, just call me.
Adventure Adam because that's what the whole trip was.
But yeah, we had quite a few shenanigans, but the drive down was a lot of hair was being pulled in our Hyundai Santa Fe on the way down.
You're still newish to this dad thing, got two boys.
Are you full dad mode?
Like, you know, you got one in a backpack and one on a leash.
How does this, how's Adam Luckett approach family vacations these days now that you're in charge?
It takes a village.
and so we usually there's
usually grandparents are along for a trip
either one set or both sets
this trip we had both sets so we could
kind of play zone defense
or double coverage we got to do a lot of double
and triple coverage which was nice
and so yeah that's that's kind of how
we did it and we got some nice relief
thankfully so me and Taylor got to go out and do some fun stuff
like we got to do universal just adults
with my brothers and sisters and both
dads so that was definitely
that was definitely nice yeah what's the playbook for Disney
with two kids that young.
I'm sure our listeners have either been or about to go.
How about some tips?
You got like fast passes and bracelets and all these.
Yeah, I definitely think the fast pass is something you should look into if your kids are old
enough to ride, but Baker not really old enough to do all that yet.
So it's a lot of, we found like a little splash pad, which was nice.
They got us 45 minutes of rest.
Have a decked out stroller with snacks.
Don't forget the fan.
The fan.
We brought the fan.
it wasn't charged, so that was a rookie mistake.
But again, I think just the weather is the big thing.
Like, you don't want to go on a day of super hot.
You don't have much control over that.
But the nice thing about Disney, there's a lot of shaded areas.
There's places you can go inside.
And there's ranges for things the kid to do.
Like, he liked the little Peter Pan ride, which is like inside.
It goes slow.
It's a small world.
Yeah, and there's a small world, which was closed the day we went.
Oh, man.
My mother-in-law was definitely disappointed in that.
That's worth some good some money back, I feel like.
Hey, that's why you're there.
I need to call Mickey Mouse and say, hey, the one thing I didn't really realize about Disney World is like the t-shirt market.
Everyone there is wearing like a Mickey or a Gucci shirt.
You all didn't have matching T-shirts?
We did.
I had no idea that that was like, I just guess I didn't realize that was a thing.
Yeah.
Like they're making a killing just off of people that buy t-shirts.
And like people make custom T-shirts.
Like the Smith's Family Vacation, the yada yada.
I did not realize that was a thing.
Like, that is a whole industry.
Like, I just need to go down to Orlando and sell t-shirts
because you can make a killing off of that.
We know someone who might want to do that as a business.
I picture this graphic right now, like Adam Luckett's travel tips.
We have grandparents.
We have Chick-fil-A playplace.
Are you, like, setting the edge to corral your kids into the Chick-fil-A playplace for their safe?
And then that's when you all get your free time?
Usually I don't have to do it because he's taken off because he knows where we're at,
sprinting to the play place.
And then a lot of Chick-fil-A sauce.
A lot of Chick-fil-A sauce for breakfast.
Baker loves the sauce.
That's your parenting advice from Adam Luckett.
Let's go back to the phone lines.
Here we have some more people ready to talk to Adam and Tyler.
Dennis, you're up next on KSR.
What's up?
I was just going to call about Western.
When they played in the 71 finals,
all of the top six players and both coaches were all within 100 miles of bowling
green.
In fact, Clarence Glover was Horsk, and Jim and Daniels was Scottsville,
and Kim Rose was from Passard
and Jerome Perry and Gary Sinbacher were from Louisville
and all the players were from Kentucky
within a 100-mile radius which is pretty rare
the assistant coach was actually the former coach
at Glasgow High School so you don't necessarily have to go
from college to college but Weston was able to draw
that hometown atmosphere which Bowling Green does also
love it love to hear it a lot of good athletics there in Warren
County thank you for calling in we appreciate
Appreciate the call.
Reading a few texts here.
Luckett knows the best beer is a tall draft at Roosters in Fern Creek on a hot Saturday
afternoon.
That seems very specific, Luckett.
I've been there a time or two.
You've heard of that place?
That's a popular place to go after maybe you golf around or just if you've got nothing else to
do or if you're just hungry, or if it's Tuesday or if it's Wednesday, that is, that's my
favorite place in Louisville, I have to say.
Are there any play sets at roosters?
No, no play sets at roosters, although they are very kid-friendly.
The kids can kind of run free.
They have a back room that you can have a little area for the kids.
They just dedicate to the children.
I would say that.
They just kind of take it over.
Our Kentucky branded tweet of the day is going to be a text of the day today because I'm having too much fun with this.
A 606 number says down here at Orange Beach on vacation ran into some cats fans listening to you all on the beach.
So we had a great conversation with them, Go Cats.
So KSR listeners finding other KSR listeners at Orange Beach.
It's always fun.
Walking by hearing a little KSR playing.
Ran into some KSR fans of Disney.
Matter of fact.
So that was unique.
They have on a matching shirts.
I don't think they did.
I do want to bring up a little bit of a sad note today.
It's the anniversary of our boy Jared Lorenzen passing away on this date.
July 3rd, 2019 at 38 years old.
He was on these airwaves a whole lot.
I did the football podcast with him.
As a player, of course, he was the all SEC.
quarterback at Kentucky Super Bowl champion with the Giants.
We could do all the nicknames, but a round amount of touchdown, Pillsbury Throwboy,
one of my absolute favorite people ever.
Tyler, you knew him well, but sad anniversary today.
I can't believe it's been five years.
I mean, because of the pandemic, it sort of feels longer in some ways.
I love Jared.
You know, everything that anyone ever says about him is true.
He was so down to earth.
I actually was one of the original hosts of the KSR football podcast.
It was me and Freddie and Jared.
And I will never forget, like, you know, meeting those two for the first time
and those first couple of episodes before I handed it over to Nick and Drew.
And he was so special because, like, he just made you feel like the center of the room.
And I'll never forget, I did a couple of football pregame shows with him.
And we met in the parking lot, the media parking lot at Kroger Field and walked, you know, up to the stadium together.
And, you know, when you're walking with Jared Lorenzen, everyone's like, hey, Jared, hefty, lefty, you know.
And he took time to say hey to everybody while still maintaining a conversation with me.
Like, it was just so cool to kind of walk alongside him.
I wasn't walking in his shoes, obviously.
But seeing what even just 15, 20 minutes in the life of Jared Lorenzen is like, I mean, I miss him.
He was great.
Yeah, I can't talk too much.
I'm a big crowd baby.
I'll start balling here.
But we had a lot of fun.
Like you said, it would be fun watching him when we would do the preempts.
game show at the stadium where we'd drive around.
He'd stop and he'd throw one ball to a little kid, and that would make that kid's day.
Heck, maybe his life, depending how big of a fan they were.
Look it on the football field, I mean, there still hasn't been another Jared Lorenzen
and may never be another Jared Lorenzen.
Yeah, I think just, just he was every, like, Fat Kid's Dream in a lot of ways.
Like, look at this guy playing quarterback.
I want to do that, just had a rocket arm and just, not necessarily played on a lot of good
teams at Kentucky, but I think a lot of fans, especially maybe closer to our age, Drew,
like some of their biggest memories of Kentucky football were because stuff Jared did, right,
the run against Louisville, that everyone brings that up, you know, the throws behind his head
off his back, the Arkansas game yelling to the camera.
Where are you going?
Yeah, where are y'all going?
So there's a lot of different, a lot of memories like that.
He didn't necessarily have the big moment on the field that I think everybody would have
to seeing him have.
But I think a lot of people who kind of maybe fell in love with college football eventually,
like I think Jared had a lot to do with that here locally.
Definitely.
And later in his life, he launched the Jared Lorenzen Project where he was losing weight
and inspire others to do that.
We were very proud of him when he had that going on.
But July 3rd, we always think of him.
And it's fitting yesterday was World UFO Day.
I mean, and I and Shannon, when we'd get to control of this show when Matt and Ryan were
gone, a lot of alien talk.
Sometimes Jared, Jared got a little reckless with the moon landing from time to time.
We let him cook.
He had his moments.
But I always think of him, not just as the football player, but a great friend and some of the great radio we had doing some alien talk.
Or the stories about Gatorade and the Super Bowl?
Gatorade.
That was when the KSR football podcast went viral.
We asked Jared to tell one Super Bowl story from when he played with the Giants.
And because you can bet on the color of the Gatorade of the winning team, he went over to the Patriots bench.
and told his friends the color of the Patriots Gatorade.
So I think they bet on that.
And then Jared's team, of course, upsets Tom Brady, and they get their ring.
But it's funny, he was leaking a little info there.
I don't know.
That might have been frowned upon at the time, but it made for a good story.
And when we said that on the podcast, we had our Kentucky, KSR audience,
but that got picked up by, like, all kinds of huge websites and that story went everywhere.
So that was another fun one.
Yeah, and quickly, I just want to echo the same sentiment that you guys have said,
especially you, Tyler.
I was part-time in eye heart, and he gave me his time a day,
and I interviewed him for my little old podcast back then.
I mean, he didn't have to do that.
He didn't know who I was, but being able to connect with people,
I think that was probably one of his strongest traits.
Yeah, and I think everyone remembers the he used to do the periscopes.
And after Kentucky beat Florida, he would get the moonshine out of the freezer.
And, I mean, just the sheer emotion on his face.
Like, I'd tear up and smile just thinking of it.
I mean, we love you, Jared.
He used to text me when Forrest Gump was on TV every time.
And there's a thing about Forrest Gump.
It's on TV most.
weeks.
And I would always get that.
And then little things, he was on a trip with his son Taden, who's now becoming a football
player in his own.
But Taden was much younger, but they were on some trip somewhere.
And Jared drove out of the way with Taden, and they both took a picture in front of
stadium.
I won't say exactly what they were doing.
But he said, make sure your dad sees this.
My dad being Tennessee fan.
It's like we wanted to go out of the way and taunt the Vol.
So it's fun sharing these Jared memories.
We wish he were still around, but we always associate him with this day.
And like I said, Kentucky football legend
And a dear friend of KSR.
We're going to take a break on that, got a little emotional.
We'll come right back at some other football talk.

Drew Franklin here for one final segment with Billy and our special guest, Tyler Thompson,
Adam Luckett.
Billy, this is the end of me hosting, you know.
We're off tomorrow.
That's right.
We're off Friday.
We survived.
Everybody taking vacation at the same time.
Part of the reason I'm here, I wanted to do a wellness check on you.
I mean, you're doing well.
You've kind of been running the ship all on your own.
You and Billy had been done an amazing.
amazing job. Thank you very much. Yeah, I know I've enjoyed these two days. When the other guys get back,
they'll say, Drew go sit in your corner and do your one-liners clown. And that's fine, that's my role.
But I enjoy driving the ship today. On Monday, Rup to No Good, the podcast, they're going to be taking over for KSR.
They'll be filling in. So you won't hear from me, Ryan, or Shannon that day, but we're excited to hear from them.
They've got a new and good thing going covering the cats. A younger group, trying to get in their start doing what we do here.
so we're excited to hand the microphones over to them.
And then after that, Billy, back to normal.
Yeah, back to the grind.
Tom Hart will join us next Wednesday.
He played Pebble Beach yesterday.
I don't know if you saw that.
He didn't mention that.
No, he said he was going to be on the lake.
Yeah, that's not a lake.
That's an ocean.
No, and where was my invite, Tommy?
But, yeah, Tom will be on next Wednesday.
We'll start to get back to normal a little bit.
And then the week after,
then we'll have some more of those pop-up remote shows that we've been doing.
That's right.
Looking forward to getting back to normal.
That'll be week seven of Matt's vacation.
We're getting closer.
I'm not saying I'm staring.
down Monday the August 5th on my calendar, but I'm staring at it.
Ready for that.
Well, that will be the week I'm gone, actually.
There you go.
You deserve a vacation.
Do you all have a fourth plans?
Anybody do anything fun?
Got a little bit of, if you play it right, you can make it a real long holiday.
Well, we're covering football recruiting announcements.
Well, we always have a computer in front of us, even on Christmas.
But you're going to sneak off to the lake?
We were going to, but we are picking up a puppy for a trial adoption on Saturday.
So we may be adopting.
We have like a week to see if it, you know, if it works between us.
We had originally planned to go to the lake, but, you know, getting a dog is pretty important.
So we'll be in puppy mode all weekend.
You have no idea what damage you just did to me at home.
Hopefully we can cut that out of the podcast.
What are you got going on, look it?
A little poll day Saturday.
So excited about that.
And just maybe mostly taking it easy at the house following the recruiting developments.
Yes.
We were going to hang around Lexington and do the downtown stuff.
we're supposed to get bad thunderstorms.
We're like planning a just random trip.
I mentioned we might go north and watch golf.
We're just looking for, did anyone cancel a beach house at the last minute?
Those haven't popped up, but we'll find something to do.
Are you doing anything exciting, Billy?
Yeah, just lighten off some fireworks trying not to blow off my hand.
10,000 people went to the ER last year in the United States after firework incidents.
So please be careful out there.
And I said this on the pre-show.
Just be mindful of veterans in your area and also people with pets that have dogs
that just go crazy during this.
I think, you know, with the July 4th being on a Thursday,
I think it's acceptable to do fireworks throughout the weekend,
but just be mindful of your neighbors
because, you know, soldiers with PTSD really have a tough time during this time.
They started the fireworks in Nashville last night.
I was laying in bed waiting for my cornbread hemp to kind of settle me down,
and I heard them.
I was like, all right, here we go.
We had some in our neighborhood last night, so we're starting early.
Me too.
What is it with everyone doing it?
They'll do it until July 15th, too.
But there was a point last night.
My wife ran down.
She's like, was that a bomb?
I'm like, that's probably just our first fireworks of the year.
And then a few more came and just a couple hours of it.
I'm a fireworks hater.
I know that's unpopular opinion.
I don't know why everyone thinks that if they have an Instagram account,
we need to see your fireworks.
They all look exactly the same except one's blue, one's orange,
and different colors.
I don't need to see your fireworks.
Well, yeah, the cell phone video is not great.
But you're telling me you don't feel something when you see fireworks in person?
No.
Not at all.
In fact, there have been times where they're shooting fireworks,
and I am unbothered to leave my house to look at them.
I'm that big of a fireworks.
Wow.
I'm not anti-American.
I just, it's going to sound like, it's just, ooh and awe, a few times.
Okay, this is it?
What are we doing next?
Is that bad luck?
Am I, my hater?
Do I need to leave the country?
I'm very much in the same boat.
I'm not going to spend money on fireworks or light them off,
but I do enjoy if I go to a Fourth of July event,
I do enjoy if they have.
And they have fireworks.
But I'm not walking out of my house to watch.
neighbor three houses down. No. Throw fireworks in the road or light them up. That's not what I'm
going to do. But I do enjoy on 4th July watching someone light off fireworks, but I don't have any
interest of going out there in participating myself. So growing up, we had, we always had a huge July
fourth party. And my parents would send someone down to Tennessee because back then in Kentucky,
you couldn't get the good fireworks. You had to go to Tennessee. And somebody would come back with a ton of
fireworks and you were talking about dangerous fireworks on the pre-show.
So someone inevitably would end up running around the yard with a Roman candle in their
like two Roman candles in each hand.
And then at the end, the like the finale was, we put all these dud fireworks that the store
sold us for super cheap in a big cardboard box in the middle of the yard.
And we set the box on fire.
It was called the box of fun.
It sounds fun.
I took a bottle rocket to the neck in a Kmart parking lot.
one time, but I'll save that for another day.
It's been fun. It didn't hurt.
Left a little mark. It's been fun talking to you all.
Billy, I talk to you all the time, but thank you all for making the trip.
Tyler from Nashville.
We'll be back on Monday with Rupp to No Good, not with the KSR crew, but we're excited
to hear from them.
Thank you for listening. Enjoy a safe holiday weekend.
Go America, and I guess go fireworks.
Good job this week, Drew.
Thank you. That means a lot.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind,
and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise,
breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves,
their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment,
and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hardway with your favorite therapist and host Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that's really not safe to have anywhere,
but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor?
It signals to the world that you're not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.
