Starting point is 00:02:34 Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones. All right, welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio, Ryan Drew and Shannon. A big thanks to Jerry Tipton. We sat there during the whole commercial break and telling more stories and talking. We could do a four-hour radio show, I think, with just things that have come up over his era as covering the cats. We did another segment there, and then the music started playing. We had to say, sorry, Jerry, we've got to go back to work.
Starting point is 00:02:59 But just kept talking. I had so many more questions for him. Yeah, we talked about, you know, you mentioned Sam Bowie. Talked about that in the book. You had that on your list you wanted to ask him. Jerry started telling a story about Dale Brown bought his book and send him a picture holding up the book. So just a lot of good stories there over the years. We may need to have him come back again.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Yeah. We'll put him with Ravi Moss. Who else do we just keep, we'll call him up for short-hand. Sean Wood. Jack Pilgrim. Jack Pilgrim. the bullpen we're sending jerry to the pin all right so we're continuing our countdown of the kentucky counties and matt started this during covid got all the way to spencer county and then we went on to
Starting point is 00:03:37 other things but we picked it back up this summer and now we're up to washington county a county a county that maybe a lot of you don't know a lot about but there's a lot going on a lot of history a lot of things to talk about in Washington county and shannon is one of his favorite festivals and all festivals. Oh, yeah. Tell us about it, Shannon. Well, when I was a kid growing up with my grandparents, they went to two festivals every year.
Starting point is 00:04:01 One was Ham Days in Lebanon, which we've talked about. The other is the Sargum Festival in Springfield, which is the only place that I will actually eat Sargum from. It's not sorghum. It's not sorghum. It's actually sargum. That's how you said. I always said sorghum, the sorghum festival.
Starting point is 00:04:17 They say sargum. But I think that's probably where the most of my baseball collection of baseball cards, came from because every year I would go there and buy all these baseball cards. And of course, you know, they have arts and crafts and all that type of thing. And then they make the Sargum right there in front of you, which is really cool. So I've got family still out in Springfield. So I love Washington County. Definitely a great place that's near and dear to my heart.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Well, we did our show down there at the Sargum Festival. Remember they gave us some biscuits covered with the Sargum. Jam. Is it? You can say jam or jelly? What is it? It's Sargum. Sargum.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Sargum. Yeah. It's like if you, you wouldn't say, do you call honey jam or jelly, you would call it honey. It's Sargham. True. Good point. Well, when you think of Springfield and Washington County, the conversation starts and ends with Abraham Lincoln. So Drew's going to get us through the Abraham Lincoln part.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Well, we got some muddy waters with Abraham Lincoln. You know, Laroo County claims to be the birthplace. Yeah. But he grew up in Springfield, Kentucky, allegedly. So I guess are we We don't want to take Abraham Lincoln from LaRue County And give him to Washington County So how his parents got married there
Starting point is 00:05:32 Is that going to be the official fact They got married there He was there as a child He was there But he was born near the football field Where we did the show in LaRue So it's kind of what we talk about Illinois once part of him
Starting point is 00:05:45 LaRue once part of him Washington was part of him But we know that Thomas What's his parents' names Thomas and Nancy Lincoln and Nancy Hanks. They were definitely married there on June 12th, 1806. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:57 June 12th is my birthday. I like to think we have a special connection there. Me and Tom and Nancy. They were married in a log cabin in a small community of Beechland, Beechland near Springfield. So Abe was there, grew up there. I think LaRue is where he was actually born. But his parents were there, lived there, fell in love there,
Starting point is 00:06:18 married there, big part of Lincoln, the Lincoln legacy. Now, somebody tried to explain it to me one time, but I'm not saying it's to be funny. I mean, they were being serious. He was conceived in Washington County, but born in Leroux County. How do we know that? Well, I don't know. You just said they were married and grew up in. Well, there's proof of where you get married.
Starting point is 00:06:40 There's a certificate. There's a whole ordeal that comes with it. That can be looked up. The whole where that went down, that might just be between Tom and Nancy. No, I mean, if the deed was only done once in nine months, then I guess you could. you know, about process of elimination, say that it happened in Washington County. I'm just saying how do we know that? No, we don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:57 That seems like an intimate thing between two people. Ever we were at the Springfield? They've only got George, too, by the way. They don't need another president. They got George Washington. That's who they're named after. That's right. They've got at the museum, the memorial there in Springfield.
Starting point is 00:07:11 They have a copy of the wedding declaration between Nancy Hanks Lincoln and Thomas Lincoln. So they know that. Confirmed. What you're alleging. I don't know if there's proof of that. Well, how do we know for sure then where Lincoln was born? LaRue County claims that. They claim it, but...
Starting point is 00:07:28 I'm not here to call Larraudelire. Springfield count it also? They don't claim his actual birthplace. They just claim he lived there. Yeah, I'm reading a story right here. The Lincoln Legacy begins there. Notice how that's worded. It begins.
Starting point is 00:07:42 Well, then, of course, you know, I grew up around Spencer County, Indiana, where he lived for like seven or eight years. They claim that's where Lincoln kind of grew up to be. a man. According to National Park Traveling.com, a website we all love. It's my home page. The Lincoln's Thomas and Nancy lived in Washington County for 30 years. It's a big connection
Starting point is 00:08:03 there. We just can't say Abe was born there. And then they may have done other things there too that you have alleged. It's true. Well, they've got that cabin that sits out there, but it's like a replica of the cabin, right? It is. Do we want, is that a known fact? Is this like giving
Starting point is 00:08:19 away secrets? I think once you get there, it's a replica. I think, once you get there, and you see the placard it says this is a replica of the A Blinken cabin that they lived in here in this area. The electrical outlets give it away too. Shannon brought up another fun fact with the presidencies. George. Washington's named after George. That's pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Our nation's first president. Yeah. I think everyone knows George. Now, you may know this or may be able to find it. Wasn't Washington County like the first or Springfield? I think maybe it was Springfield was the first capital in Kentucky? Am I making that up? That's not in my notes.
Starting point is 00:08:52 That is not in my notes. We can look it up. Look it up on Wikipedia, Shannon. I think either Springfield or Washington County was the first capital settlement in the state of Kentucky. Something like that. Okay. So far, so good. How about St. Catherine College was there from 1931 until 2016?
Starting point is 00:09:11 They had a baseball program there. They had athletic program there. And they just shut their doors. Kind of like that Birmingham Southern. Just all of a sudden that season's over. we're done. It's part of the Bourbon Trail. That's fun.
Starting point is 00:09:23 We'll be part of the bourbon trail next week. We will. Phil Sims. People know Phil Sims. Yeah, you're athletes. I don't want to step on your toes here. Phil Sims went to high school at Southern High School in Louisville,
Starting point is 00:09:37 but he was born and went to elementary school in Springfield, Kentucky, and I got to tell you something. I did not know that. I got to tell you something, Ryan. I did not know that either until yesterday doing my research, but he was born at the Maple Hill Manor. Manor. Manor? Manor.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Manor. Well, Phil Sim, that's the story of him is just, it's great. How he was kind of an under-recruited quarterback out of Southern high school, went to Moorhead State. Didn't put up any big numbers or anything like that. But I think the story goes, Bill Walsh came to watching play practice and fell in love with him. And word got out that Bill Walsh was going to draft this dude from Moorhead State. And the Giants snuck in there and drafted him before Bill Walsh could draft him. And then Bill Walsh drafted some guy named, I think, Joe Montana.
Starting point is 00:10:18 That's a pretty good pick. bad pick there. Some of them's get two Super Bowls. What about Shipwreck Kelly? Shipwreck Kelly. Another one. If you don't know the name or the story about shipwreck Kelly, you need to look him up. He is considered until Tyson Gay came along, the fastest person ever to come out of the state of Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:10:38 Super fast. He's also from Springfield, Kentucky, played at UK, played in the NFL, became some, like, ultra-successful banker in his later years. And, man, I'm not mistaken. You haven't made to Google this. There's a lot of if we're not mistaken. I didn't find anything on your other claim. Okay, I may have made that up. Which one?
Starting point is 00:10:56 The one of Tom and Nancy or the one about Springfield being the capital. Keep looking for Tom and Nancy. Now, here's another one, though. I think when he was like 23 years old, he was player coach of like the New York Giant NFL team or something like that. He was like this brilliant business guy as well as this unbelievable athlete. I know there was a lot of this. Who's this?
Starting point is 00:11:17 Shipwreck Kelly. Abraham Lincoln? No, Shipwreck Kelly. Shipwreck Kelly. Okay. Abe Lincoln was a, he was a wrestler. He didn't play football. He wrestled.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Yeah. He wrestled bears. He was a player coach for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Wasn't he like a baby? That's a football. Brooklyn Dodgers. 23 years old or something, 24, 25, because he was such a good business person as well as a football mind.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Yep. Those are two huge athletes for that area. Really? When you're talking about from the state of Kentucky, if you're picking your top 20 athletes of all time, you've probably got Phil Sims and Ships. Shepret Kelly on your list. I would think so. They're both from Springfield, Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Did you have any other athletes? Were those just so many? Okay. I'm still trying to find out if Springfield was the first capital or whatever. I'm not even real sure. I know what you said. There's something about that that they were the first state capital or something. We'll look it up.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Okay. Or if you can call us. So before Frankfurt, you're saying it was Springfield? Yeah. Okay. That seems a little unlikely, but we'll get to the bottom of it. We'll find out. 859-2-80-2-287.
Starting point is 00:12:20 We need somebody now to call in from Washington County. What other cities are there besides Springfield? There's got to be other cities in there. McVille. And Willisburg. Willisburg. Look up Willisburg. Maybe it was the first capital.
Starting point is 00:12:32 Don't forget Sims Town. named after Phil Sims? Or Brush Grove or Bear Wallow. Moorsville, Pleasant Grove, St. Catherine, Thompsonville. These are all communities in lovely Washington County. So give us a call on the Clark's Pump-A-Shop-Mep-A-Pont-Hop-N-8-8-0-2-8-8-0-2. 2-287, Washington County, you had your day.
Starting point is 00:12:51 So next up is now Whitley? No, and why I'm not forgetting, I have already started my research on it. It's not, is it Whitley? I don't know. Warren, Washington, Wayne. Wayne, there we go. Wayne. I knew there was one more before Whitley.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Wayne. Apologies. We'll get to you later this week. Wayne and then Whitley. So maybe we'll try to do Wayne on Friday. We'll go back here on Friday. And I would like to use this time to remind everyone that Fred and Brenda Callen are from Union County. Okay, but you meant Brent brought that.
Starting point is 00:13:19 up. 859-280-2-287. We'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it,
Starting point is 00:14:41 and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on Earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:14:57 And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose. On my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Starting point is 00:15:22 He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levan this went to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the Aihar Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is our Whiskey Thief Song of the Day. A little Darius Rucker for you here on your Tuesday morning. Ryan, Drew and Shannon, whiskey thief. Wink, wink, wink, I think we may be hearing about them in a couple weeks. Wink, wink, wink.
Starting point is 00:16:29 See you next week. What? What? Sorry, coughed. We have the answer. Washington County was the first county created by the Commonwealth of Kentucky after it separated from Virginia. So it wasn't Springfield as a county.
Starting point is 00:16:47 capital, it was Washington County was the first county established when Kentucky separated. Is there a connection to being named after the first president? Is this a thing of firsts? I believe it is. So why does Lincoln County call themselves Lincoln County if Lincoln never lived there? They should flip-flop. He probably claims them too. Someone wrote in.
Starting point is 00:17:07 I can't remember if it was on Twitter or somewhere. Oh, is our boy Bobby English. Do we have a tweet of the day yet? Give it away. How about we do it right now? It is our Don Franklin call of the day and our Kentucky. you branded tweet of the day. Well, this is just the tweet of the day.
Starting point is 00:17:20 He says Abraham Lincoln has claimed more homes than Ryan Lippman. Very good point. All those hometowns, because then if you go to, if you follow Abraham Lincoln, I mentioned Spencer County, Indiana. They've got monuments there. But then he went to Illinois. There are monuments there. Everybody's claiming Abraham Lincoln.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Do we get any further confirmation on his parents and their extracurricular activities? I'm going to go on record saying he was conceived in Washington County, born in LaRue County. This is official record. KSR is reporting it. 859-2802-287. Also, Shannon, this gets into what you're going to tell us about. Johnny Boone of Cornbread Mafia is from Springfield.
Starting point is 00:17:58 Aha, that's right. Yeah, and if you're ready for a self-care summer full of relaxation and relief, cornbread hemp can take care of you with their new extra strength, full spectrum, CBD. Have you heard about this, Ryan? And don't worry, it's legal. Cornbreadhip.com promo code KSR. Johnny Boone passed away recently. He did. A few weeks ago. maybe last month.
Starting point is 00:18:46 That is one of the few books I've read. Jim Higden's Cornbread Mafia. It was a great podcast, too. It was. I'm the only person that's ever heard it. Yeah, you saw. You got the secret. You heard like, what, an episode and a half and then they canceled it, right?
Starting point is 00:18:58 No, I had access to all of it. Oh, I didn't know you had the whole episode. I'm the only person other than the people who put that podcast together who have ever heard the entire series. It's like the picture of Matt. People just trust you with this exclusive access. I guess, I guess. 859-2-802-287 we'll take our first caller of the day shannon who we got okay let's go to hunter hunter hunter go ahead hunter hey hunter hey guys uh first time long time
Starting point is 00:19:26 who ha and i am from springfield kentucky nice and uh what can tell us about yeah give you a A few extra facts of Paul Dillinger, who played for the Cincinnati Reds in the 30s. He was a pitcher there from Washington County. John Paul Scott was an actual prisoner at Alcatraz. He's the only confirmed prisoner to escape Alcatraz, make it to the mainland, and then got re-arrested and sent back. And he's from Springfield or Washington County. He is from Springfield, Washington County.
Starting point is 00:20:04 The bank in Lexington. Did he? Yeah. And two other facts is my grandfather, Albert Goatley. He worked on John Dillinger's car during Prohibition, Public Enemy Number One. And then he also helped get the Leibnon-Sprinfield Airport built. He was on the board. Him and another gentleman from Lebanon worked together and went to Frankfurt to get the airport built.
Starting point is 00:20:34 in Lebanon, Springfield. Well, we appreciate it. Get a little more. I appreciate the phone call. Got a lot more little information on Springfield and Washington County. That's one thing I love about doing these shows about the counties, people that are calling in,
Starting point is 00:20:44 telling us other things that we don't know about it. Yeah, I didn't have, I'm a big fan of Cornbread Mafia book. I didn't have Johnny Boone in my notes. I knew that, but when he said it, popped up, and then the mafia connection there. I didn't realize that, with some old gangsters. We got another Washington County caller, Shannon? Not right now.
Starting point is 00:21:01 We don't. We'll take them. 2-2-80-2-8-7 that's the phone more if you want to call and get on board Marsha called in for Jerry and we didn't get to her but Jerry's still sitting here eating lunch so Mars if you call in or even text to me I'll just go tap him on the shoulder I'll get his answer and I'll telephone it back to you and Joe too two two callers for chip I knew Marsa was on hold for Jerry T's but we got it we got in
Starting point is 00:21:20 got too involved we were talking to him got into it there is a story I want to get your comment about and Drew and I think you're probably good to cut it talk about no wait a minute Mario you come on here let's bring Mario on room just real quick yeah I got to have Mario on Livy Dunn. If you don't know who Libby Dunn is, go ahead, Mario, sit down. Mario's giving you a look.
Starting point is 00:21:39 Like, really? I guarantee you Mario knows exactly who Livy Dunn is. Do you know who Livy Dunn is? Yes, I do know who Livy Dunn is. What do you think? Everybody under 30 knows exactly who Livy Dunn is. So that's fair. She has a...
Starting point is 00:21:58 She's popular. Gigantic following. She's got like eight million. million is that right TikTok followers probably more yeah and like five million
Starting point is 00:22:07 Instagram followers and she is a gymnast at LSU but you know her my son 17 year old Josiah he knows who living done is but I don't know people my age a lot of people well the guys may but a lot of women
Starting point is 00:22:21 may not know so she has decided to come back for her fifth year at LSU do you see that story I did not see that that's new to me how much money do you think she made in NIL deals last year as a gymnast at LSU. A whole lot, I'll tell you that much, a whole lot. You got a guess?
Starting point is 00:22:40 I'll probably say you're in the mills. One mill, maybe. I think it's way into the mills. I saw, and this has been a while, she was getting close to a mill just for a single social media post. For a post? Yeah, it was over half a million just for a post.
Starting point is 00:22:58 So like when you just put up a picture of you and Josiah sitting at Waffle House, imagine doing that. It takes very little time, very little effort, but then someone gives you close to a million dollars for that. Shannon, you got a guess? I'll say $5 million. The story I saw said she gets just outright $3.5 million. But then when you include her post and things like that,
Starting point is 00:23:21 it's up to like $8 million. Oh, my goodness. Eight million. And she's a gymnast at LSU. It's amazing. Her boyfriend is a starting pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. She doesn't have to go back to school. Not just any pitcher.
Starting point is 00:23:38 College baseball player of the year last year. You're going to be a long-time MLB star if he stays healthy. He came in right away, striking people out. Amazing what this young lady's been able to do, and more power to her. She also launched her own app kind of thing. I think it's what only fans wanted to be before it got a little, well it was going this way and it hung a hard right and started doing other weird things she's got her own version where it's kind of just seeing behind the scenes access to people
Starting point is 00:24:04 kind of what only fans was supposed to be more for sports college athletes things like that the idea chin coleman had a few years ago that he never followed through with livy picked it up and she's doing it well you guys remain remember matt brought this up on the show when lSU gymnastic team was playing Kentucky he did yeah i remember a memorial coliseum and how they to get extra security for her just for her and how it's sold out in minutes because of her that's celebrity status right there has there been a college superstar definitely she's the biggest female superstar has there been a college a college superstar bigger than her ever yeah well if it's just on social media probably not because her she was tick to her she was one of the
Starting point is 00:24:54 first, like, social media athletes, but I mean, like a Caitlin Clark, I think would be known a lot more if you're just walking down the street and asking people, you know, she's globally known. But if you're talking about the internet and kids and taking advantage of social media, Livy Dunn is the queen of doing that. She capitalized on that more than anyone ever has. I agree with Drew. I would say Caitlin Clark is probably the second, around the second most popular. You know, you got to think about social media is kind of evolving now. Back then, you know, they didn't have social media. So I'll probably say Livy Dunn and then Caitlin Clark right after.
Starting point is 00:25:27 So for people your age, just your friends, your people your age. Yeah. If they saw a picture of Caitlin Clark and Livy Dunn, would they know them both or who would they know? I would say they know them both. They probably know Caitlin Clark a little bit more. Yeah. Because she plays basketball. This is according to my friends.
Starting point is 00:25:48 I know they probably would probably know Caitlin Clark a little bit more. but Livy Dunn, they would know for sure as well. I would expect Livy Dunn. I haven't looked at Caitlin Clark's social media. I think she'd have several more online followers and online presence. But if you just go to the grocery store and ask if you know Caitlin Clark or Livy Dunn, you're going to get more Caitlin Clarks. And if nothing else, a smart business move by her.
Starting point is 00:26:11 She can get $8 million doing what she's doing now. She comes back. Going to make more than that probably this next year. You know, there's not a real world for gymnasts. You know, you be outside of school. Out of school. If you don't make the Olympic team, you've got to be, what, a coach or a trainer. So she's probably, as a business decision, I can make more money staying in school.
Starting point is 00:26:33 And her teammates are, I assume her going back bumps everyone up around. The whole program gets lifted. So I don't know the LSU gymnastics roster, but I would guess that everyone around her in that locker room is going to see a bigger payday because she's back. Okay, now this is breaking news, Shannon. Nana. Somebody just sent us a video of a large bear just east of exit 49 in Laurel County. On the road. There is.
Starting point is 00:27:03 There's a bear on the road right there. They just sent it to us in Laurel County off exit 49. See it? That's a bear. That's a bear. We also, the transition from Livy Dunn to Wildlife, I have to find this message. I've taken the phone from you. Someone sent us a good show topic on there.

And we're still chasing it.
Starting point is 00:29:04 And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:29:20 And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Starting point is 00:29:38 Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian, businessman businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world. He doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come
Starting point is 00:30:06 across. When Jacob met Levant this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in America. in history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make him pay.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. So see, the song says Sorghum, Shannon. Yeah, he's wrong. Dean Martin's wrong. Sargum. Sorgum. Yeah, you can tell he's not from Washington County. You don't say sorghum. I didn't know this. There are more sorghum festivals other than just the one in Washington County.
Starting point is 00:31:03 West Liberty, right? West Liberty, Morgan County. He's got a big one. Yeah, it also has a sorghum. I bet they say sorghum. Well, they're not sorghum eaters. They're fake sorghum festival. You know, he had the breaking news.
Starting point is 00:31:15 There was a bear spotted in Laurel County. The guy sitting here having lunch at KS. Bar and Grill just said his friend saw a bear and he's backyard in Owensboro. What's going on? Somebody texted in, there's a bear been spotted in Nancy, Kentucky. What is going on with the bears? It's like the sharks down in Florida. They've got bears in Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:31:32 That's my point. Something's going on with the animals. We've upset them. Every time you look up, there's a shark on a beach somewhere, running people off to the sand. We've got bears in neighborhoods. Whatever we've done, we need to fix it because I don't want to have my head on a swivel trying to be staying away from wildlife all the time. Stay inside of y'all. Who's this segment sponsored by Drew?
Starting point is 00:31:51 We're sponsored by our good friends at Don Franklin. Ryan, it is time to hit the road with Don Franklin. Starting point is 00:32:28 Shannon, you know, Shannon and I were all off all last week. You were. I noticed. And then Shannon comes back today and he has to do six radio shows. Yeah. Well, you know, I was telling Billy during the pre-show, I do more or did more, will do more, radio shows in one day than he does an entire week. You know, he does, he comes and does the pre-show. He gets five for a week. I do six in a day. So what did you do on your vacation? Did you go to the beach? No, no.
Starting point is 00:32:55 Unpacked and organized. I did more work on my vacation. It was a staycation than I've ever done because usually when I go on vacation, I go out of town, you know, hit the beach or get out of Kentucky. But no, I was just at the house, just, you know, doing all the stuff
Starting point is 00:33:10 that you got to do when you're a new homeowner. Moe the grass, pulling weeds, putting stuff up in the attic. It's tough work. Moving is the worst. Oh, yeah. Then I come here and it's like, oh, this is a lot easier than being back at home on vacation.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Well, I went to the beach. You did. And I have to tell a story on myself. You don't look tan, though. I don't. It may be dark air. Proper sunblocked. No one's getting cancer.
Starting point is 00:33:34 I lost my very expensive prescription glasses in the ocean. You did. I'm noticing that. The polo glass. I thought something was a little different today, and I couldn't place it. You have different glasses on. Yeah, these are my old glasses from like 20 years ago. I lost my nice glasses that I splurged on.
Starting point is 00:33:54 Too bad they weren't shady rays, huh? No kidding. I was sitting in your campfire chair, and you have a little cup holder. You know how I am? I can't read. I got to take my glasses off to read my phone. I put my glasses in the cup holder. You left it there.
Starting point is 00:34:09 Well, the waves came up, the tide came up, so I picked my chair up and move backwards, and I guess they fell out and in the water at some point. But I bring up this because there's another story, and I ask you guys to come prepared for this today, a time when you felt old. Is there something happened or you did something, said something, saw something that made you feel really old? I got a story. Okay. So back when I was in college, I used to work at an after-school program with little kids, of course, elementary school kids. And basically every day I felt old.
Starting point is 00:34:46 I mean, when you look at their date of birth, when you look at somebody's date of birth and you see the year and you see someone born at 2006, 2007, that's, I'm born in 99. So I definitely felt old almost every single day going into the elementary school. So that's kind of my story of how I felt old. Other than that, I feel pretty young every day. You got a lot more of that coming, Mario. You got one? I'm only going to get older. Oh, Ryan, I could do a whole podcast on being old.
Starting point is 00:35:12 I feel old every day. I noticed yesterday, even before you gave us the season. this assignment. Going upstairs, hits me a little hard and it used to. I used to, I've always been a sprint upstairs guy. It doesn't matter the circumstances.
Starting point is 00:35:26 I take long strides. If I'm in a crowd and we're a little baby step and I'll feel weird on steps, I'm going to hit the steps quick guy. So at home, you know, I'd do that. I just run up. My steps go to bed. I've noticed in the last month or two,
Starting point is 00:35:38 the old legs don't turn like they used to on steps. I don't know. I mean, I can still run. I'm not falling over anything. But the knees and everything, It's a different sprint upstairs here lately that I'm noticing every time. Sometimes the little popping noises when I get done. I'm just starting to notice little early things about the old body winding down.
Starting point is 00:35:57 I mentioned this with Myron last week. But last time I got my haircut, I could not believe how much gray hair was on the floor. I turned around to Logan, the guy was cut my hair. I'm like, that you dump some random hair at my feet because this cannot belong to me. He's kind of hit me with, it's coming, man. Just get used to it. You're getting older. Yep. Shannon, you got one?
Starting point is 00:36:18 Yeah, let's start that. I've been doing this for like 20 years. That makes me feel old. Just doing radio for that long. But about 10 years ago, when I switched over from the modern rock station to the classic rock station, I go in there and I'm expecting to play like, you know, Beatles and doors and all these old bands. I hear Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Tipple Pilots, and I'm going, wait a minute, this is not classic rock. This is the music that I grew up listening to. There's no way this is now classic rock. And I started thinking about it. I go, well, that was 25 years ago. So I guess that it is. And that's kind of when reality said in for me, like, I am getting old because all these bands that I grew up listening to are now classic rock. So that made me feel old real quick.
Starting point is 00:37:00 Here's why I brought it up, because on vacation, we went to a store. And as we're checking out, you know, she's scanning my stuff. And then she looks me right in the eye. It says, do you want me to use your senior citizen discount? Oh, no. No, you're not there. I guess I am there. What year is that?
Starting point is 00:37:17 She looked me right in the eye. She wasn't smiling. She was dead shit. Do you want me to use your senior citizen discount? So I looked at Yoga Girl and I looked back and I said, yes. Yes, I do. What year do you get that? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:37:28 You're not there. But that's the first time. I mean, dude, I'm going to be 58 next month. That's not a senior discount. That's an employee that went rogue. She shouldn't have said that to you. That's inciting violence right there. She shouldn't have said that.
Starting point is 00:37:40 I couldn't believe it. 65. 65. 65. That's a sign of things to come in my world. I'm afraid of. Mario, does that guy look anywhere near 65? No, he doesn't.
Starting point is 00:37:48 He doesn't. Wow, well, I took that $4 senior citizen discount. I marched out of that. She used that to your advantage. Yeah, that's good. You're going to start asking for it now. I had one, if our pre-show listeners, remember, I've been talking about how I'm a big yard guy,
Starting point is 00:38:04 and that it's important to not only water your grass, but you have to stare at it. Like, it doesn't work if you don't sit out there and watch the spray of the grass. Yes. So Saturday, Abby, noticed there's this big smudge on our back door and we're looking at it like that's a weird looking smudge and she's like staying a little closer to that I got a little closer and we noticed there's a spot on our back door from my forehead where I will just get like a cup of coffee
Starting point is 00:38:28 and just stare outside talk to squirrels that's old are you now watch the grass I got a squirrel I'll say it I named him he's Terry he comes by Terry the squirrel every morning I got videos of him drinking your cup of coffee spot on my window where I lean and just stare outside I feel like that's an old move. Drew, do you want the senior citizen discount? Probably need it. I'm going to tell you guys one more thing. It's going to make you feel old. You remember our boy Dawson that used to call him the show all the time. Dawson was our summer intern.
Starting point is 00:38:59 Drove with us all summer selling t-shirt. Remember Little Dawson? Of course. Little Dawson just took a job as a reporter in North Carolina. He has been working in Richmond in their media, covering E.K.U, all the Madison County schools for their cable network program down there. He just took a job. He is now a working member of the media in North Carolina. When I saw that last night and made my stomach drop, little Dawson.
Starting point is 00:39:28 He used to call him, he was like 12 years old, is now one of us, one of our, one of our brethren. Well, Mark Pope had his press conference a week or two ago, and Mario and I were outside doing a video. And if you watch it in the middle of the video, you hear me stop talking. I go, oh, look, there's Dawson. And if you're watching it, you're probably thinking, well, that's a crazy person. No one else is in this video. Why did he stop his sentence to acknowledge Dawson? But Dawson walked in the Pope Press conference with a camera.
Starting point is 00:39:54 You know, all the stuff TV reporters have, the stand. He had his hands full. I remember that. And that was just a few weeks ago. Now he's got a job since. But I had seen him at the Pope Press conference soon. I had that same moment making me. I even explained to Mario.
Starting point is 00:40:05 It's like that guy used to meet Ryan and would go to remotes. We got our cars towed in the McDonald's parking lot one time. So congratulations to Little Dawson, who's now one of the big boys. He's not little anymore. He's not little anymore, no doubt about it. I'm really kind of proud of him. You guys don't look old, though. Like, Drew does not look his age, and you don't look your age, so that's the good thing about it.
Starting point is 00:40:29 Drew's for sucking up. Drew's got a big one coming up next year. Yeah, changing that first digit, going from a three to a four. Big four-oh. 859-2-8-7. That's our phone number if you want to call and get on board. You got another sponsor for us. You got to read.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Is that right? Oh, well, sure. Why not? We always have sponsors, including one of our favorite sponsors, our friends at Draft King's Sportsbook. You know, the beautiful thing about being a sports fan, Ryan, is there's only like two days all year where there's not a game with so much happening and so much action that makes everyday game day
Starting point is 00:40:57 at Draft King's Sports Book. Right now we got the Isco Championship coming to Kentucky, formerly known as the Barbasaw. Starts this week, right, yeah. Yeah, we'll preview that. Major League Baseball going strong. Shannon, our Braves are looking great. Oh, yeah. Took two out of three from the field.
Starting point is 00:41:11 One last night. Got a home run contest participant next week. But if you want to bet on all that and more, it's super easy for first timers to get started. Go to the Draft King Sportsbook app. Select your team, place your first bet and use promo code KSR. New customers get $5 or bet $5 and get $150 and bonus bets instantly. Starting point is 00:41:31 Use promo code KSR. Ready? Gambling problem. Call 180 gambler. 18 plus. Kentucky only. Bonus bets expire, 168 hours of additions, deposit eligibility, restriction, supply.
Starting point is 00:41:40 terms at dkng.c.c.com slash base. I've got several people who hit me up on the A Vision Glass Text Machine say that a lot of places do their senior citizen discount at 55. So I'm in. I have just been open to a whole new world. I'll take that $1 discount. I think most people would see that as aging. You're lighten off.
Starting point is 00:42:00 It's time to start saving a buck. They get the buffet discount at Golden Corral. There you go. Ryan, you're getting closer and closer to that dream job of being a Walmart greeter. You know, you said you want to retire one day and be a Walmart greeter. That's, I'm serious. That's one of my retirement jobs. I mean, it's going to be like a tour bus driver. A Walmart grater. Or the guy that greets people as they come through a pass gate like a Hilton Head or a Walmart greeter. You're saying you want to be the tour bus. You should be the one giving the tour.
Starting point is 00:42:27 Oh, yeah. Like the guy up on top, like, you know, on top of the bus, like in Nashville to drive around. I could see it. You're the narrator. Somebody else can drive the bus and I'll be the narrator. I know we have a break, but quick breaking news. Oh. Is this going to be good breaking news? If you like bears. Running a nah, our friend Drew Mayhem sent us a video of a black bear running wild on the Corbin Redhounds baseball field. I think we got Drew on the line too.
Starting point is 00:42:51 Okay. Well, bring him up. Let's go ahead and get that before we got to take our break. Okay. Drew? Drew, breaking news and Corbyn, another bear on the baseball field. Exactly. I'm telling you, I was down there not too long ago, and I thought it was the Harlan County mascot that was just there to scout us out a little bit.
Starting point is 00:43:07 But, yeah, we've had bears throughout Quarman. Forbun for about the last month. And I've lived here for 43 years, and it's only happened in the last two or three years. But there are bears everywhere. You know, that's really a grisly situation you're in right now. That's almost unbearable to have to live down there. Oh, no, don't do this. All right, Drew.
Starting point is 00:43:30 Appreciate your phone call. Thanks, I think it's time we take a pause. 2287. Oh, we'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying,

Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Yeah, I don't know what's going on with the bears in Kentucky, but it seemed to be everywhere. We've got bear spottings all over the place.
Starting point is 00:46:38 people hitting us up on the A Vision Glass text machine. They're all over the world. During the break right there, you were about to tell Mario something, and I interrupted you because I wanted Mario's natural reaction. Mario asked if you had seen a bear, and Ryan, not only did you say you've seen one, but... I've actually been bit by a bear. No.
Starting point is 00:47:00 We made him stop talking as soon as he said that sentence. We've been waiting for four minutes. I promise you, this is as true as true can be. In Velpen, Indiana, population 200. My grandparents lived there. That's where my dad grew up, Belpin, Indiana. Yeah. People that lived by my grandparents,
Starting point is 00:47:20 they would go out bear hunting like once a year, like to like Canada or Michigan or somewhere. Well, somehow they trapped a little baby cub, like a little one. Brought him back to Velpen, Indiana, and had him in like a dog cage. I mean, it was little. I had my fingers through the cage as I was looking at it, and it kind of came up to talk to me and kind of bit my finger,
Starting point is 00:47:46 didn't even hardly break the skin, but kind of, you know, just scratched it. So I think that counts as I've been bit by a bear. Yeah, you oversawed that a little bit. No, no. I thought like you got, I thought you were going to say you got, you didn't either. I did. I got scratched by a bear. That doesn't count.
Starting point is 00:48:03 I thought you were going to tell me a story about you got mauled by a bear. Yeah, a little tiny bear. Let's hear about a time. You've been to a petting zoo while we're all telling these stories. Have you? Yeah. That sounds like what Ryan did. No, me?
Starting point is 00:48:16 No, I'm not going to get bit about anything. I don't get close to a person with a bear, and it bit me, and I'm going to stick to that story. You oversold that, but you know what it doesn't oversell? What's that? UK Federal Credit Union. What a great segue. You know, it's the last segment I was driving the show last week. I just love our sponsors like UK Federal Credit Union.
Starting point is 00:48:34 That's where I bank. I have the app. You can use the app to pay bills or check balances with a touch of a button. You can even set up card controls and travel notifications in the app for added security. Maybe you're like Matt. You're in Spain. Nowhere near a UK federal credit union here in Lexington, but that's all right. You use the app to find out.
Starting point is 00:48:50 There you go. To locate the nearest fee-free ATM. UKFCU is always with you and available, and the mobile app just makes baking better. That's UK federal credit union membership eligibility required, federally insured by NCUA. Back to Bears. This is from the Aviation Glass Tech Machine. I felt old the other day when my phone told me I have an increased risk of falling over in the next 12 months. That's something to your phone tell you that?
Starting point is 00:49:14 I guess so. They're doing a good job. He actually posted the screenshot that said where his phone says that. Low walking steadiness. Your walking steadiness is low and you have an increased risk of falling in the next 12 months. That's not good. Wow. 859-2-2-8-7.
Starting point is 00:49:33 Let's get up our caller, Shannon. Let's go to Lynn. Lynn, go ahead, Lynn. Yeah, can you guys hear me? We hear you, Lynn. Okay, great. Yeah, a long-time listener, first-time caller. I have a question for you guys, and I'll give it to you,
Starting point is 00:49:48 and I'll listen off the phone. Yes, sir. What do you think the odds are that Brad Caliperi would ever wind up coaching Brony James? Thank you, and I'll listen off the line. I know he's applying. I guess he's saying there's a one. world where J.J. Reddick doesn't pan out.
Starting point is 00:50:10 And Cal and Brad and Chin and Bruiser and the boys all go to LA. I think that's what he's getting at. I don't think that's that far out of the question. LeBron just signed a two-year contract. So let's just say, for example, J.J. Reddick completely fails. They fire him this year. You don't think they'd go after Cal? Of course they would. They might. We'd have to see what Cal does at Arkansas, but I guess there's a non-zero percent.
Starting point is 00:50:36 chance that Brad could be the coach of Brony James. As an assistant coach of the Lakers, when your dad's the head coach and Brony's there for two years, because that's all LeBron's going to be there for. It looks like two years. Or I'm still a Brad guy. Maybe Brad does well at Arkansas, climbs the ranks. Maybe. As Bronny is at the end of his career,
Starting point is 00:50:55 Brad is just getting started the NBA and he coaches in there. It's a long time. Man. Shannon, what was that guy's name? Lynn, Lynn that just called, yeah, Lynn. Or was he no, Lynn? Oh, God. Really? He had to hear the pre-show. You had to listen to the pre-show.
Starting point is 00:51:12 Some guy called and asked why they call it No-Lin Lake, and Shannon gave this long story. This guy, Benjamin Lynn, was a spy, and he went missing, and every night they would go out looking for him, and they would come back and report No-Lin. No-Lin's not here, no-Lin. That's tough. 859-2-287. Bingo here tonight. Are you coming? I'll be here.
Starting point is 00:51:33 I'm not going to J-T down the street, but I'll be here. So come here if you're going to Justin Timberlake, come here for your pregame. We'll sing with you. Maybe play a little bingo, and then you can go to the concert tonight. It starts at 7 o'clock. We've got Singo coming up in a couple weeks again. We've got some UK trivia, I think, next week. And then the end of the month, you know, we're doing 80s and 90s trivia.
