We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
A rep.
My mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, here live at the KS Bar and Grill.
Thank you again to everybody here.
Some folks got such a great crowd.
Some folks won't even be able to hear, but at least those of you that are close.
can.
772-7-7-4-5-24 is a text machine.
One person writes, Matt, I saw you went to the European soccer championships that look
like awesome atmosphere.
Is it better than UK U of L?
It's different.
I will say the European soccer championship is the best atmosphere I've seen for a
sporting event probably in my life.
I mean, they're so into it that it's crazy.
And the Scotland, the friends from Scotland are the best fans I've ever.
ever seen in terms of yeah they played in a city of 45,000 people and out of those 45,000 people
there was 150,000 people that came to town 100,000 people came to town without a ticket just so
they could be there to party and dance 100,000 people and they all wore kilts like every
Scottish stereotype you have they did they all wore kilts they all drank an absurd amount
they would sing what's that song that's like dun dun dun dun dun dun dun
What is that?
Seven nation army.
Seven nation army.
So they would sing, no, Scotland, no party.
And if they were playing a team and the other team scored, while the other team was cheering,
their fans would get up and dance.
No, Scotland, no part.
They would dance even when the other team scored, Ryan.
And I kind of loved that about them.
They weren't very good, and they seemed to not care.
I don't know how you did it.
But following you on Instagram, it seemed like every country you,
were in, that's the team that won.
When I was in a country, they were eight and no.
And then I was in Madrid when Spain won the title.
And that was wild.
Madrid is huge.
And there were people honking their horn and dancing all night long, all night long.
Like, you couldn't even get sleep because they were dancing in the streets all night
long.
Of all the things we could see that you were doing on Instagram, I was most jealous of when you're
hanging out with the Scotland soccer crowd.
The Scotland soccer crowd was my, was,
the most fun group.
What's up next?
Okay, and I do want to say this.
You understand we have a full restaurant here, and they're here to see you and welcome you back.
Man, that's going to make you feel good to look out.
These people are here because you came back.
It's very nice.
I do want to say those of you, especially if you followed my Instagram, you all were,
everybody was so nice.
And I don't, I hope people understand this, but this trip is going to change my behavior
a little bit, especially on social media, because I think not being on Twitter was really,
really good for me. Like, I'm still going to be on it, like, to post stuff. But I think now
when it comes to interaction, I'm going to leave it to the text machine and to Instagram, because,
I mean, the moment I got back on Twitter, Mario had made these awesome graphics saying I was coming
back, and the replies were a bunch of jerks. And I'm like, you just don't need this in your life,
Like it's, it is so, Twitter and Facebook are so toxic in terms of how people treat each other.
Whereas Instagram and the text machine seem better, so I'll probably do more of that.
It's not, I hope that doesn't like, there are many nice people as well, but it's just, it was so good for me not to have to read just constant barrage of you, you know, of you suck, which is what you read on, which is what you read on Twitter.
But go ahead.
What's next?
I think when you left, most of the basketball roster had been in place.
Maybe Jackson Robinson, maybe he had not committed yet.
But since you left, we kind of got an idea of who this roster is, how they're going to look,
kind of things that leak out from the scrimmage, the Law Famillion Team.
So I think that's got to be one of the top stories where you were going on.
So Jackson Robinson committed to Kentucky the first day I just landed in Europe,
and Jackson Robinson committed.
So this is, I know nothing about these.
Like, if these guys walked in, I probably wouldn't recognize most of them yet,
but I'm just going to tell you, I talk to a couple people who've been to many practices.
And what I, this is, this is not my opinion.
This is just what people who go to the practices say.
Number one, Jackson Robinson is a stud.
He'll be our best player.
And according to one person, he'll be our best player by far.
I think it was so huge we got him.
We talked a lot about him coming at the end and how important it was.
I'm told he is our best player and it's not close.
This person I talked to thought our second leading score would be the car kid from Wake Forest.
That he would be, he might not be our second best player, but he'll be our second best score.
Kobe Brea hasn't played a lot, but they expect him to score a lot too, and then Lamont Butler.
So the person told me those four they think are kind of our core four.
And then it kind of depends on what's going on.
I heard some really good reviews on Kerr Kleasa.
Kresa.
Is that right, Kerr, Kresa?
That he's really well.
And he's almost like the emotional leader of the team.
They follow his energy.
He's kind of a talker.
Heard some good stuff about Garrison coming on.
Some great stuff about Travis Perry.
They basically said if Travis Perry can guard, he will play.
That he's one of the best shooters, some of these people have ever seen.
But the issue is can he guard?
I only heard disappointment about one guy.
So I'm not, I won't throw the kid under the bus.
Let's just wait and see.
But I basically heard people say only one guys come in maybe slightly down from what they had hoped.
The other part of this, and this came from one of the TBT guys.
one of the TBT got they played with them for like a week
and they said when this team is hot
this was a former player said to me
when this team is hot
there'll be nobody in the country that can out shoot them
when this team is hot they do not miss
now the counter to that was
we're going to give up a lot of points
that was the counter
we're going to score a lot
we're going to give up a lot
and the question is
can we make shots and can we protect
The hope is that Garrison and a couple of guys protect the rim enough that you'll be able to win.
But I was told this is from both people, the TBT guy and the other one.
Fans will have more fun with this team than they've had in a long time, and I think that's exciting.
Certainly living and down by the three, and I can't wait to see it.
We got to interview Braya last week, best shooter in college basketball, well behind Reed Shepard.
Second best shooter in college basketball, best returning shooter.
He said, I'll look around the gym and sometimes I wonder if I'm the,
best shooter. Like, that's a guy that is admitting that. He's like, my teammates are throwing it in just as well
as I am. And Travis Perry is the best shooter. Now, again, whether or not he ends up playing a lot,
it's going to depend on how he guards. But, you know, what the guy, the TBT guy was like, if Perry's
open, just run down the court. It's over. Like, just run down the court. It's over. So, you know,
I think this was an exaggeration, but he said it would not shock me if they made 30-3s in a game.
Now, that's not going to happen, but that gives you a sense of how well they think, Ryan, these guys can shoot.
And I think the TBT guys, after they practice, when they leak that out, man, the way that offense is designed, man,
they're going to put up a lot of threes every single night, and they've got a lot of guys that can hit those threes.
I did ask, what's your biggest worry about the team, and both people told me the exact same thing,
which is outside of Jackson Robinson, there's not necessarily another guy who you can just give the ball to and he can go get a bucket, right?
So there's some worry about, you know, 30 seconds left in the game.
Do you have a guy who can get to the rim or can get in score?
And it kind of were like, I don't know.
Jackson Robinson's probably the only guy like that.
So if you're going to have a worry, Drew, that might be your worry.
Yeah, but in a transition year, we're pope through it all together.
If we have to be a little gimmicky taking 35-3s a game, you know, you don't want to do that forever.
But I think it'll be a fun brand of basketball, even if there are some games they get cold and you might take a loss.
There's going to be other games where they get hot and they can beat any.
Yeah. So I was pretty excited about it, to be honest with you. I think it was a good report.
The non-TBT-T player told me this team is better than I thought it was going to be.
Maybe not national title contender, but better than I thought they'd be.
And I think you're right. I think Jackson Robinson was that missing piece.
And I think once he came in, I think everybody felt like, and it sounds to me like he's doing a lot of leadership stuff in the gym,
because he's been with Pope already. He knows what's expected.
There's been a lot of talk.
He'll step up and explain it to the players.
The coach speaks since he's been through the system so much.
The only guy I didn't hear a lot about was actually Chandler, just one way or the other.
I don't know the freshman from I didn't really hear a whole lot about him.
All right, what's next?
Well, kind of on the hills of basketball was Reed, Rob, and Reeves.
I mean, they got, you know, Reed went number three.
Reeves went, what, number eight to the wolves.
Reeves got drafted, and then Reed balled out in the summer league, man.
He was awesome.
So I have two reactions to the NBA guys.
Number one, first of all, how about Reed Shepherd?
In all seriousness, like, I do think we have to take a step back and think this dude was playing in the 13th region two years ago.
Three years ago, me and Drew and Ryan went and called the 13th region tournament, and I genuinely, I'm not just saying,
this thought he might be the third best player in his region he didn't even win player of the year he didn't
even win player the year it was i mean they didn't even win the region knox central beat him yeah
and you thought i don't know and then that summer in aAU he took a jump yep then his senior year
at high school he was great but to come to kentucky and be the number three pick and then in the
summer league he was the best player he was the MVP yeah he was he was the best player he was the best
player in the summer league by that game i watched on replay his game against the lakers
against dalton connect come on i mean dalton connect by the way played really good in the summer
league and he made dalton connect fall down like he was absolutely i just you got to be so proud of
that kid what he's accomplished second rob dillingham is on the perfect team
perfect team because he goes to a good team in Minnesota where he's not going to have to play a ton and he can kind of fit in but they're still good
Drew we're going to be watching him in the playoffs next year like he's going to get minutes next year in the playoffs
and I think that's awesome for him yeah he landed in a great spot usually to be a high draft pick you're obviously on a team that didn't do well in a bit of rebuild year I mean they were almost in the finals there last year and he's going to be a big part of that especially him with anthony edwards if rob really pans out and can do
a lot of what he did in Kentucky, the NBA.
That duo is going to be so fun to watch.
And with Reed, they've already changed the rookie of the year odds.
He's now a favorite.
And a lot of people are already predicting he'll be the rookie of the year, which is insane.
Which is crazy.
Third thing, I am so happy for Antonio Reed.
Yep.
That dude deserved to get drafted.
He got a three-year deal, which means he's going to be paid, which he deserves.
And I think he'll play.
He didn't play quite as good as Reed and Robin the Summerlee, but he played well.
He had at least one game.
I think he had 20 points.
He's going to be good.
He's also on a good team.
I don't know if he'll start the year on the team or in the G League,
but I'm excited for Reeves.
He deserved it.
I hoped all year he would hear his name called and then he did.
And I think, like you said, we've all agreed.
Once he gets in a spot where they can prove what he can do,
even if he has to go to the G league and average 20 a game shooting threes,
he does the one thing the teams won.
He'll score a million points in the G league.
Yeah.
Like he'll score it will in the G league.
And then the last thing, I'm just going to be real with you.
Watching that draft, how did we suck last year?
I'm serious.
It's malpractice.
It's malpractice to have the number three pick, the number eight pick,
one of the best three-point shooters in history,
three of the best three-point shooters in history at Kentucky,
and to be what we were, not just to lose to Oakland,
But we lost, what, 11 games?
Lost the A&M on Friday in Nashville.
We lost 11 games with two of the top eight players
and maybe the future NBA rookie of the year coming off the bench.
Cowell's all-time leading score also.
Yes.
Reaves.
Antonio Reeves.
Most points ever in a season.
One of these days I'm going to be doing trivia at KS. Barr.
And I'm going to say, give me the 10 players that shot the best three-point
percentage in a season and he had three of them on the same team yep and somehow we lost 11 games that
was my reaction watching the draft we should have won the title last year or at least been there with
yukon we should have we should have been right there with yukon had two guys going the top 10 we
you know they went oh and two in the postseason it's just when i when i when i woke up and saw the draft results
I just was like, you're kidding.
The draft and the Summer League, when they're playing so well,
I want to get on Twitter and be part of the celebration,
but Twitter was just roasting Kentucky.
Like, how did they not win?
It almost was taken away from how much fun I was having watching Reed in Vegas,
because online it was just making fun of how Kentucky didn't do anything in the postseason.
I'm going to say this the last time I say it, but it probably won't be.
But I will remind you of this statistic.
They looked up the 34, on last year's teams,
the 34 three-man groups that played the most together, right?
So any three players on the court together, there were 34 of those groups.
Dillingham, Reeves, and Shepard were number one by an absurd amount of points.
It was like number two is not even in the ballpark, but of the 34 groups,
they played the 33rd most minutes.
That's sad.
That's coaching malpractice is what that.
It's unbelievable when you look at it like that.
Anyway, it won't be as down.
We'll take a break.
Come right back.
We're here at Kentucky Sports Radio.
KS. Barr.
See at KS.A.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.

What's up, guys?
This is Clever Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts show,
I'm bringing you conversations
about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes,

Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Pong.
Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night bases on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers,
why he got the ball, like,
After you go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio here at KS Bar and Grill.
All these people are here to see you, man.
I think that's pretty cool.
It's awesome.
Awesome crowd here at the bar.
Like I said, we'll be here Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday as well.
so feel free to come and say, hello.
One person writes, Matt, I need to hear from Shannon.
Does he believe your new Twitter policy?
That you won't respond to people?
As much.
Not at all, but as much.
I think for a while, like the first few months, you won't respond as much,
but I think you'll eventually go back to the old Mad Jones.
You'll be replying to fifth graders who are, like, taking shots at you.
You will be.
You know you will be.
No, I mean, I probably will some, but, like,
I'm telling you, it made, it was, I mean, I don't want to, I'm not going to talk about this all the time,
maybe on a show down the road I'll talk about it.
If a couple things had gone differently, I might have stopped doing this.
I mean, Drew and Ryan know this.
I mean, I was, in late March and early April, I had a strong view that like, this might be it.
I mean, I just, I had, I, I was worn down, but I also,
February and March were not fun.
And honestly, a lot of the last year, not this, this was the thing I loved, right, like this.
But everything else had kind of ceased being fun.
And I was like, you know what, I did this.
I stopped being a lawyer because this was fun.
And if this is not fun anymore, why am I doing it?
And then the energy Mark Pope, that whole thing.
That Sunday at Rupp Arena, that was, listen, I mean, that was like,
I think it was a baptism for Big Blue Nation, but it was also kind of like a cleansing for me
where it was like, okay, this can be fun again, right?
Like these people are having fun.
And, you know, Mario and I walking through the crowd and he was taking videos of people,
and then I'm not going to act like when they gave that applause to me that that didn't matter.
because it did.
And then all of a sudden it was just different, you know.
And now this trip, I'm completely like revitalized and re-energized,
but it could have gone the other way.
And, Ryan, you know you and I talked a lot about it.
I know that first week in April, dude,
I know you were as down as many of the eyes as I ever have seen you.
But you can tell right now, just sit with you for a couple minutes.
You feel good.
And look how good he looks.
He looks good, man.
I mean, that's the best you've looked, I think, since I've known you.
Well, look at this.
You missed him a little bit.
Yeah.
Well, you want me to give me a hug.
I will if that's what you need.
Well, you can tell you've lost some weight.
You've done, you look good.
That's Ryan's go-to compliment.
Have you lost some weight?
He does like to say, he does like to say people lost weight.
That is Ryan's go-to.
Yeah, well, I did lose a lot of weight, so that helped.
All right, what's next?
Well, you touched on it just a little bit, but the day Rick Petino came on KSR with Big Cat and with PFT
some of the best radio we've had all summer.
I mean, he endeared himself to the fan base again.
I don't want him to, but that's the second time he made the video for Pope,
and then he came on the show and endeared himself to us.
I thought that was big.
So, like, pretty much all the guest hosts just as like a behind the scenes,
I would pair them up with Billy to sort of get situated.
But the part of my take guys, they kind of would communicate with me.
So two days before they come on, Big Cat's like,
I got something that's going to blow your mind.
and I said, because they had tried to get Petino the year before,
and he backed out at the last minute.
And so I assumed it would be him.
I actually thought he was going to bring on Cal.
I thought that's what they were going to do.
And they end up bringing on Rick, and how awesome was that?
It was great.
I mean, like, so cool to have him on.
Who would have ever believed Rick Patino, this fan base has,
Let me ask you a question.
Just do a thing.
How many of you all are in on Rick Petino now?
Raise your hand.
Wow.
I mean, I'd say 80%, not.
There's some that say no, but that's a lot.
I mean, that number would have been 5% two years ago, Drew.
Like, that change is wild.
I was sitting at home working on that show, not knowing who the guest would be.
When he popped on, I had to pick my jaw off the floor.
I was stunned.
And then he said he's been donating to Kentucky football.
and I had to pick my jaw off the floor again because I couldn't believe what I was here.
How crazy is that?
Rick Patino is donating to Kentucky football?
He said he was talking to Mingione before their tournament run.
I mean, he was, it sounds like he's back ingrained in UK athletics.
If you're a Louisville fan, you have to be furious, right?
Like, if you're a Louisville fan, like he'll never,
maybe that'll be where he never gets forgiven.
Because if you're a Louisville fan, Ryan, you've got to be furious about that.
I have, like, Drew, when he said that he is friends with Mark Stoops
and donates money to the NIL and called Coach Mingion,
I'm like, dude, where have you been?
We all, you know, why?
We want, I think a lot of us want to like that guy again,
and he did a lot to make that happen.
Well, kudos to him.
And also, let me say to all the listeners.
I mean, at this point, the part of my take, guys,
that's the biggest sports podcast in America.
And it's the biggest sports podcast by a lot.
And this is the only show they host.
And, you know, I always worry, like, are they not going to enjoy it?
They've done it now for eight years.
Like, well, they, when it was over,
both of them wrote me and said,
you have the best audience in the country,
and we'll do it as long as you want us to do it.
And that's a testament to this,
because there's a lot of what that wouldn't do that.
They already said they're coming back.
They've already confirmed.
They did back up Rick Petino by getting Jack Golky on them in the next hour.
Jack from Oakland.
Jack from Oakland.
I heard, though, people kind of thought he was charming.
That was therapeutic.
Didn't he say, didn't Cal Guard me or something like that?
He was not shy about saying how bad the game plan was for him.
He was like, I was confused why they weren't picking me up in the half court.
They just kept letting me shoot.
Let me ask you a question I thought about with you since you were talking about Petino.
What did you think of the UK basketball schedule?
It definitely improved.
I mean, we got Louisville on a Saturday in December.
But no other good home games.
But at least got a couple, what is it, is Western?
Western is on the schedule?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I thought you'd be angry.
No, I'm okay with it, you know.
I just don't like those Saturday, December games to be.
poop state you know give me somebody i do love they're playing louisville on a saturday we haven't played
we haven't played louisville in lexington on a saturday i think in a long time yes and so i i am looking
forward to that being on a saturday before christmas yep i am excited about that dream ron's really
excited about gonzagga too i think he has that one circled on the calendar yeah you're excited about
us driving to it yeah we kind of discussed a little bit when you were gone wondering what kind of
route route you're going to take us from here what kind of wrote what kind of rote i'm we are going to i think
Seattle's got our name on it that first week of December.
I'm just saying.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
It's KSR.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending.
Opinions are flying.

What's up, guys? This is Clifford Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Cliverts show on the IHeart Radio.
app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
What's up, fam?
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows, without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted.
at this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get to fly.
He running up the court, licking his fingers,
why he got the bar like,
after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down.
down the court and you're going to get the balls.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio here live.
This segment's about to by Shady Ray's.
I use Shady Rays all over Europe and I lost them, so hopefully they'll replace them.
lost America. I left them one in every country. And if you're tired of buying expensive sunglasses, go to Shady Ray's.
Independent American-owned company, premium polarized shades for every activity. They're tangle-free aviators that won't get stuck in your hair, Ryan.
Now, that happens to you a lot. Oh, with my hair, it happens to me all the time. And every pair of Shady Ray's is backed by lost and broken protection. Use my code KSR 50% off two or more pairs at Shadyrays.com or at the locations in Lexington and Louisville.
One person writes, Matt, rank the countries you went to from best to worst.
That's good.
That's a good question.
All right.
Best, Spain, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Indora.
I didn't know you went there.
Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, and I'll put England,
last because it was raining the whole time I was there.
I know you did post some beautiful pictures from Austria.
He said, you know.
I really liked, none of them were, oh, no, wait, I also went to Slovakia.
That might be last.
Nice people, but I will say when I was in Slovakia, I went to a coffee store.
It was 1 o'clock in the afternoon on a Tuesday, and they were blasting thongsong song.
Nice.
Well.
And, you know, you're in Slovakia, so you don't expect to hear.
Tong to thong, thong, and I asked the woman, I was like, this is kind of an interesting song.
She goes, we only play 90s rap at this coffee.
So, like, that was all they played at this coffee shop in Bratislava, Slovakia, was 90s rap.
Sounds like an awesome place.
You know, as the foodie of the show, did you have any meals that stood out in any particular places or anything?
Yeah, I had a lot of, I mean, the food is so good, especially in those countries.
I mean, Italy.
Anything wild.
I like Spain.
I like the tapas.
right like like you get little you can order you order like seven little things and that's your dinner
and like i really uh i like that a lot have you been watching the olympics can't get enough of it
i do watch every minute i can sound the same way favorite moments so far um for me my favorite moment
and nothing's going to surpass it was when seline dion sang at the openings i thought that was one
the most beautiful things i've ever seen i mean i know that might be wimpy but i don't stand there under
the Eiffel Tower with that balloon up and like she's I don't know if you've ever seen the documentary
about her life but she has something called stiff person syndrome that makes it to where her voice
is like locking up and for her and she didn't think she'd ever perform again and for her to get up
there I thought that was gorgeous the hundred meter race yesterday was awesome incredible yeah
was awesome and what was with that announcer called the wrong winner he was convinced the Jamaican guy
won like he wasn't like I wonder if he won he was
He was convinced him.
Shouting that the Japan didn't even mention Noah Liles at any point.
Did you see the clip of Michael Johnson, offset?
He knew.
It's Noah.
It's Noah.
And the guy on the main broadcast got it completely wrong.
It was close, but I like the guy's the answer.
He's like a British guy.
And I've always liked him.
He's done it for a while.
But it was like, how did you get it that wrong?
Because you got to know, he should know the rule if you're doing the Olympics
sprinting event.
It's your first guy with their chest across the finish line.
I love the dude with the glasses on the pommel horse or whatever.
say that's Little Matt Jones is who that guy was I mean it's it's like it's like our guy what was it
our dork from Indiana State what was it Robbie Avila yeah Robbie Avila what did I call him I've
already for cream Abdul Jabbar yeah cream Abdul Jabar he kind of he just standing there with his glasses
just gets off rocks it puts his glasses back on and wins I love that one that's little Matt Jones that
guy has these gorky glasses on and go out then just do the do his thing I like the Turkish shooter
this gone viral because he just pulls it out of his jeans Turkish shooter just walks up and
is like, I don't need your equipment.
I'm wearing a t-shirt.
I'm 51 years old, and I'm going to come in second.
That dude was, that dude was as bad as they come.
I have one complaint, and I like this guy,
but Dwayne Wade is ruining the basketball broadcast for me.
I just don't think he's built for it.
Nothing against Dwayne Wade, but he's trying to do these catchphrases,
and they're really not sticking.
Yeah, what was his catchphrase that every time he said?
I thought, why are you saying that it was something like his pronouns?
LeBron, his pronouns are he and him?
It's like, man, come on.
And he did it over and over.
And he did it over.
You're trying too hard.
Just let it go.
I also love Snoop.
He's everywhere.
Snoop.
Everywhere.
How did the same guy who had murder was the case that they gave me become the spokesman for the Olympics?
Yep.
And that dude was on trial for murder.
Yeah.
And Flavor Flav also up there with him sponsoring athletes to get him there.
Flavor Flav.
Like, if you had told me when I was in high school that Snoop Dog and Flavr Flav that my mom,
would be like I like that Snoop dog guy.
Snoop was fencing with somebody yesterday.
Did you see that?
Snoop is fencing.
He's dressed in the equestrian gear.
Snoop.
That is crazy to me, Ryan.
But he is, you know, makes it fun, though.
I look forward to seeing what he's doing and where he's going to be.
And how about a big shout out to the young woman from Lexington, Lee Kiefer, wins.
He'll go to be a gold medal.
I mean, two more.
How about that young woman?
four years ago goes wins a gold medal is like you know what i'm going to do in the interim i'm going to go to med school
and then she's going to finish med school and go wins another one another gold medal like that's kind of
amazing she won the individual and then the team so she got three in lexington now she's got to be an all-time
lexington legend for what she's done in the olympics no doubt so i'm completely pro olympics that the ratings
have been the highest in like 12 years i've intentionally ignored all the stupid things people are
complaining about and just enjoyed it for what it was, which was a lot of fun.
One more about my Turkish shooter.
Did you see what he did after he won a medal, what he said?
No.
I guess he's going through a divorce, and he said, Sharon, give me my dog back.
He used that platform to ask for his ex-wife to give his dog back.
He used the platform to try to get some of his medal.
He's like, this is for turkey, and Sharon, I want my dog back.
He's like the most regular everyday guy imaginable.
Yeah, no kidding.
All right, what's next?
Well, we got to talk about cow a little bit.
I mean, there are a couple of things that happened when you were gone,
came out that he was living with Brad above a bar.
That's one of the, I mean, I would pay for that reality show.
It's him and Brad in a bar.
And then Tyson Foods sent us some razor-back nuggets here to the restaurant.
You got an Arkansas cooler right here if you needed.
Oh, yeah, you got a cooler back there.
I mean, I have to say, I think it's kind of funny that they do that.
Like, I mean, I think they think it makes us mad.
I actually kind of have to salute them.
I think that's kind of a funny thing to do to send us chicken.
I will say, though, I knew I wasn't missing Cal when I read him say he wasn't going to let
a vizs shoot three.
Yeah, no kidding.
Like, that's the one thing he does.
Yeah, it says what his draft scouting report says.
Like, the one thing he's good at is shoot threes.
And then Kyle's like, yeah, we're going to have him shoot long twos.
That's your favorite.
Long two, you moved.
If he just stayed here, it would have been a lot more of the same if he didn't stay here.
For sure.
Chen and Brad are the primary recruiters on the road with him.
Okay, so that's another thing I don't understand.
I mean, if you were to say to me, okay, Matt, look at last year's staff who were the strong points.
I would have said Chuck Martin and Orlando.
And he replaced those two with Brad and who?
Kenny joined him, but Chin's the associate head coach or something like that.
Maybe it'll work out.
Maybe it'll work out.
But it was the right thing happened here, don't you think?
Can we, since we haven't had a show since Friday, they also lost the La Familiar game for us.
I'll say it.
It's like when you're hot at the poker table and someone walks up and starts yapping in the cooler, you know.
Call them a cooler.
They were the coolers of the La Familiar team.
Everything was running fine.
We didn't need extra people there.
Yeah.
I did like, I did like seeing, I don't know about, I did like seeing the Harrison twins again.
Very cool.
Very cool.
And I actually think it's very cool.
Those guys came back and did it.
Because there was, I think, this belief when they left that, like,
We might not ever see them again because they had like a hard time sometimes and it's neat to see them.
But it's also a good sign, by the way, for all of us that worry that post-Cal, we won't see these NBA guys again.
You know, they come back.
Those dudes came back.
And you were talking about Willie says he's going to move here.
And like after they won some of those games, Tyrese Maxie was tweeting about them, like all these people.
Like, it's good to see, Ryan, that we're not going to lose that connection to all of these guys that we like so much.
Darius Miller, Alex Poitris, Rajan Rondo,
some of these former players went to the TBT game down at Ruff Arena
and we're wanting to be a part of what was going on.
And I've said that I think it meant a lot to the Harrisons.
They've been separating.
They both talked about on the show.
They grow up and you're just next to them your entire life.
Now they're on opposite ends of the world.
I think it was just big for them to get back.
A, be around Kentucky fans and get that love.
But just those two being together again,
I think they both really need it personally.
Then, of course, in the Olympics,
six former UK basketball players.
and everybody knows about, you know, Bam, Booker, and Davis,
and by the way, Davis has been awesome.
Yes, he has.
On the Canadian team, Shea and Murray,
and then what about Wynion Gabriel?
Wynion Gabriel, playing for the South Sudan,
had a shot at the buzzer to beat America.
I mean, Wynion had a shot at the buzzer
with a chance for South Sudan,
which wasn't even a country 20 years ago,
to beat the United States.
I want the United States to win,
But that is Drew kind of an amazing story.
And then you read about Lual Dang, who basically decided he, there was no money in the South Sudan for basketball, so he just did it himself.
Did you know that?
No.
He signed, you know, he made a ton of money in the NBA.
Lual Dang went and created the South Sudan Basketball Academy.
And now all these years later for them to be in the Olympics, what an awesome story.
They still don't have an indoor facility.
That's what they're doing when they get done with the United States.
this is they're all going to help build the first indoor basketball court in the country,
and they're competing in the Olympics.
And then right now on television is the women's three-on-three with Ryan Howard.
Yes.
Is playing for the United States in the women's three-on-three tournament, and they're playing for a
medal.
Yeah, the medal games are at three and four today.
We'll figure out what happens here, which one they'll be in, but they still have a chance
to bring something home.
Yeah, so it's great.
All right, tell me about Stock to Mortgage.
I know you've been practicing.
Stockton Mortgage waited for you to come back because now they're ready for you to go buy
that new home, Matthew, you know, even though your mom cleaned up your place in Louisville,
now's maybe the good time to move out of it, buy that new home. But before you do it,
you got to get pre-approved, and Stockton Mortgage is there to help you all along the way.
It'll hold your hand through the entire process. You work with the same loan officer throughout the process,
so you're not surprised by somebody you've never met before the final days and throw it all backwards.
So Stockton Mortgage, it's easy to apply online, Stockton.com, M&LS, 8259, Equal Housing Lender.
Can I say something just saying about the Reds?
Yes.
They stink.
I didn't ask for that.
I'm sorry.
They've kind of been consistently average all year.
So I would watch their scores.
I watched a couple games.
But I'm going to say something.
I think it's the case.
And I'm a grown man, and I can't believe I'm saying this.
I think Ellie Dela Cruz may be my favorite pro athlete of all time.
Not Kentucky athletes are ahead of them.
Yeah.
But I was sitting there thinking, have I ever enjoyed watching?
a pro athlete as much as I enjoy watching Ellie.
And I don't know if I have.
Greg Norman when I was a kid, I loved.
I loved Magic Johnson when I was a kid.
As an adult, I love Tiger.
I don't know, man.
There's something about, I just, he's 22 years old.
Do you have your bobblehead yet that Billy had to go up and get for you when you were
gone?
So, you know, I asked Billy to get that bobblehead.
And I told him, if you don't get it, don't call me.
Don't come to work.
Well, he didn't call me, so I didn't think he got it.
Has he told you the story how he got it?
Oh, yeah.
He came on the radio and told us how he got it.
Yeah, he got some kid, basically.
His brother, his kid brother.
So I don't have it yet, but I thank him for that, because if he hadn't gotten it,
he would have been fired.
8-7-7-2-4.
We will take a break.
Be right back.
This is KSR.

The World Cup is coming.
Ramos sending on the only score at the chip.
I'm Tad Ramos.
I'm Tom Bo.
On our podcast, Inside American Siles,
you'll get the real storylines.
I'm not worried about Policicke.
I'm not worried about Balligan.
I'm not worried about McKinney.
My only concern is what happens in the back.
The biggest decisions.
You're going to look at stats and numbers.
He has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the US national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals
or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
The World Cup is almost here.

Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Final segment here at the KS Bar and Grill.
Great crowd.
I'm excited to look over my high school friend, D.Wain walks in with his son,
who's somehow about to be a senior in high school.
College friend, sorry, somehow about to be a senior in high school,
that's crazy to me.
somebody I went to college with, although you're not the only one,
as a kid about to go to college.
They're literally visiting trancy, where we went to school with each other,
which is unbelievable.
You looked at him and you said, you're old enough to go to college,
and then when he said, yes, that look on your face like that reality smacked you in the face.
Like, oh, boy.
That's true.
One person writes on the text machine, Matt, tell me what are the things after you go
that Europe does better than America, and what does America do better than Europe?
So Europe does better the trains.
I wish we had trains here because you can get anywhere so quickly.
Everything's connected by trains.
The trains for me are a huge one.
Number two, probably the way cities are laid out.
You can walk them all.
Like you don't have to, you know, you don't have to have a car if you don't want to.
You can walk pretty much everywhere.
Number three is probably the food in terms of like it's a lot better for you.
It doesn't, a lot of the preservatives we use in food are banned.
there so the food is just fresher you know how they tell you don't eat bread here yeah the bread there
really isn't terribly bad for you so like that's it things we do better ice you seem pretty
passionate about we have it they don't and it's annoying i mean they don't they have it some but
they don't really have it a lot um i think americans as a whole are far friendlier i think that like
don't let the rest of the world act like we're just a bunch of students like we are much friendlier
than than most not all like when i was in greece i felt like the greek people were very friendly
but you get to like germany and austria and switzerland they're not the most friendly people
in the world and then you know i think we take for granted
if you think about all the stuff we complain about in this country and people are always acting
like it's the worst.
Oh, this, this dudes, this, this dude's this, all the fighting.
We still have it so much better, even than the places in Europe.
A poor person in America is still rich compared to people in the rest of the world.
And even in countries like I was, like even in like, I just don't think we realize,
let me give an example.
When you go through customs, okay, when you go through customs, there's a line,
for people from America, and then there's a line from every other country in the world.
And whereas we can just scan and get in, everyone else has to get interrogated and can stand for
two or three hours.
We don't think about that.
No.
When people see Americans, they see money, and so they treat you a different way.
I just, I think we are blessed so much more than people realize, and I think it's neat to go somewhere
and see that perspective to be able to feel that way.
were you in some areas where you felt you were being privileged?
Everywhere.
I mean, like, you just, so like, take a country like Italy.
Like, we have way too much poverty in America, and there's too much inequality,
and there's a million things we need to change.
But the difference between poverty in America and even in Italy is exponentially different.
I mean, it just is.
The housing, like, you know, it's just we just don't realize how lucky we are often enough.
And we fight over things that are so minute.
And we should, I think, spend a lot more time going, we are the most privileged people to get to live in this country.
We just, I just, I know, I'll figure about it right.
I don't appreciate it sometimes as much as I should.
All right, before we end, tell me what else you got?
Well, kind of a complaining theme here.
Stoops for the first time, I think, said some things that maybe he's looking towards the end of his coaching career.
Yeah, I didn't like it.
He was the longest tenured coach now in the SEC.
I probably don't have time.
I don't have time to go into that.
We'll do it tomorrow.
Okay.
That was the biggest stoop screw up I've seen here was the pony up comment.
This might be number two.
He's right.
We need more N IL money.
But there's a part of me that says, same thing I said about Mitch Barnhart.
You got to stop complaining about the world as it is.
If you don't want to do it, you don't have to.
You know what I mean?
Like if you don't want to, if you don't want to do it,
there's somebody else that'll do it.
I just thought that was not, for me, those comments were not the best look.
That's just for me.
Yeah, what I'm saying?
You know, he's kind of tired of people.
No, I totally agree with you.
I mean, he's right.
He has to spend a lot of time raising money,
and I'm sure he doesn't like that.
But guess what?
That's what the job of a head coach is now.
everybody has to do it now and so you can sit there and be upset about it if you don't want to do it
like I said somebody else will do you know so I love stoops and I get his frustration but at the same time
don't we have the best recruiting class coming in like like Vince has killed it yes we had a schedule
this summer yeah so I mean I just thought that was a weird a weird thing to do to be honest yeah I think
they have a special team I mean the schedule's tough but you want a little more raw raw going into it not
This is going to be a hard year.
We'll talk more about this this week.
We can be a lot better, and our record not be that much better because of how hard the schedule is.
But anyway, hey, thank you to everybody listening and the kind comments that I've gotten since our return.
And more importantly, thank you to all you people who came out today.
I really appreciate it.
It's very nice.
It's very nice to look out and see all of you folks here.
and a lot of familiar faces.
I really miss getting to do this,
and I missed you all,
and a special thank you to Ryan, Drew, Shannon, Mario, Billy,
Tyler, and the people of the website
for letting me do making it to where I could do this.
It means a lot.
We will see you tomorrow.
