Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio here at the KS Bar and Grill.
Starting point is 00:03:58 just open for lunch. Come on out and join us. It's a beautiful day in Lexington. Except for when I got rained on walking yesterday. It's been a beautiful time since I've been back. So you got dehydrated and you walked in the rain. Yeah. It was a lot going on.
Starting point is 00:04:15 It wasn't a great decision to walk to Skyline, but that's okay. Some people giving us some other football players for the All Stoops era. I forgot about how we had an All-American we didn't mention. We actually had two All-American we didn't mention. One, Bunchy Stallwood. Oh, yeah, that's a good one. He was an All-American on the offensive line. And then two is a young man who's joining us right now.
Starting point is 00:04:36 His name's Max Duffy. Oh, yeah. With us, Max, welcome back to the show. How about that? Thank you. I know you've been in Europe for a little while, but here in America, we pay people with respect. It'll be coacheduffy to you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:04:51 So, Max, tell people, you're back in Lexington. Tell people what you're going to be. Well, besides being on the case. pregame show this year. Tell people what you're going to be doing. Yeah, not a whole lot. I'm doing obviously this stuff and then decided to start coaching down at Lexington Christian Academy. Coaching the special teams at Lexington Christian Academy. They need a little Aussie in them in Lexington. Are they still cheating?
Starting point is 00:05:15 So we're no longer cheating. I leave all allegations before that to everyone else, but we're no longer cheating. We're actually all above board now. Just Frederick Douglass that cheats now. Oh, wow. He's been here two minutes. Are he taking cheap shot? Yeah, so that's got to be very exciting. You did that last year at Murray, and are you enjoying doing the American coaching career?
Starting point is 00:05:42 I am. I'm loving it. Had a great time with Coach Hood, who's now back at UK last year at Downer Murray. We didn't win a whole lot of games, but it was good. It's really how you try, though. It was. It was. We had a horse called Vegas that used to run the tracks.
Starting point is 00:05:56 So there was an athletic track around our field down in Murray, and he runs the track every time we got a touchdown. He put on about 400 pounds. So we had a tough year. What was it like living in Murray? I mean, like you're Mr. Australian. You come to Lexington, big man on campus, Ray Guy winner. What was Murray like? There wasn't a whole lot going on.
Starting point is 00:06:16 But it was good fun. I mean, I enjoyed the peace and serenity, I guess you'd like. You enjoyed the peace and serenity. I did ask them. I don't know if I said this before. I did ask them who the most famous person was from Murray, and they told me it was a vampire serial killer. So that was kind of interesting.
Starting point is 00:06:32 What do you mean? What do you mean, yeah. I know that story. What's the story? They had a group of kids, and they thought they were vampires. I'm right. I remember that, yeah. Killed a lot of people.
Starting point is 00:06:42 Yeah, that's kind of good out. I would have gone John Morant, maybe. Unless dark, Popeye Jones. Popeye Jones. Yeah, well, you know, that happens. Well, you're back. That's very, very exciting. I know you've been watching a lot of Olympics.
Starting point is 00:06:54 happy for your Aussies. You have such Australian pride. Every time they do well, it makes you very happy. I do. I got a little bit frustrated in the early week of Paris when you guys wanted to put America up top because you'd won the most medals, but we'd won more gold. You really made him mad. Like, Max would get really mad that they would show the medal chart, and it would be an order of medals won. And at that point, Australia had won more golds, and you were very angry about that. No one else in the world says total medals. It's just you guys when you lose it. And they're not. all of a sudden you start win the golds again, it's back to the golds. But I'm happy. We've done unbelievable. Most goals we've ever won in the Olympics.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Oh, that's great. Come the third right now. And they have changed the graphic now that U.S. is in the lead. It looks different to Max's point. Yeah. They flexed that now. So when you were at Murray, you had like a great punter, right? Wasn't your punter like one of the best?
Starting point is 00:07:44 Yeah, so. He got a lot of practice, too. He got a lot of practice. He brought him in, and he was with us for one year. He's transferred to Missouri. tried to get him to the cats, but I'm sure how interested they were in him, but yeah, got him to Missouri and then played a little part in getting the new punter to the UK. So, yeah, so you kind of pointed stoops in the direction of the new punter. So, you know, punning has been an issue the last couple of, really since you've been gone.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Who, tell, talk people about what's the name of the new punter and like give us a little special teams about gossip here? Yeah, so his name's Aidan LaRose. I had to stay with the international tradition. and he's from South Africa. So we have a South African punter. Yeah. And, I mean, he'll be great. He led the FCS last year for UT Martin.
Starting point is 00:08:29 I thought he was awesome. I tried to get him to Murray. We didn't really have a scholarship for him, but he'll be great. And honestly, they might tear my pitcher down in the facility. Is he that good? He's very good. Let's talk about this Max Duffy shrine. I mean, he's always had a spot on the wall, but I was in there for Media Day.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Max and Lynn Duffy, or Lynn Duffy, Lynn Boten, share a wall together. It's huge. You have a, because you're an All-American, you know, Lynn was an All-American returner, you were an All-American punter. You're up there. Like, when you go to the facility, we haven't had a ton of All-Americans over the year, so you're up there with some big names. How does that feel? It's pretty embarrassing. I'm not sure, I'm not sure on the recruiting trips they refer to my picture too many times and say, see, guys like this, this is who we've had. So, no, it's, I mean, obviously, it's very nice that they've done that, but, It's not as if I go back every day and have a look at it. We only have four football jerseys up in here. Tim Couch, Jared Lorenzen, Andre Woodson, and Max Duffy. Four best quarterbacks of all the time. Well, it's good to have you about it.
Starting point is 00:09:34 All right, so I always rely on you. Like, you know players, you know coaches, you know vibes. So tell me the vibes around UK football right now a couple weeks in the camp. I think they're like sneaky. Like Stoops is almost trying to keep it under the radar, I think, how good we're going. how good we may be this year. I think sometimes he tries to talk it up and, you know, say how competitive we're going to be and all that.
Starting point is 00:09:56 But to me, he's trying to, I think he's very quietly confident. Obviously, like, the defense is going to be the thing. I mean, offense, it's all dependent on how the quarterback goes, but defense, I mean, we're returning nine starters last year most sacks ever for a Stoops team besides the Josh Allen
Starting point is 00:10:12 year. So to me, the defense is going to be good. We got the guy from Michigan, DJ Waller or something. Woller, really? And if he's got to good because obviously former coach, Klingsdale was there and he's not going to call up UK and say you've got to take this guy if he's not good. So to me
Starting point is 00:10:28 our defense is going to be unbelievable to watch and it's going to keep us in a lot of games and then it's just can we score enough from there. You and I had a conversation last night that I thought was really interesting. I wanted you to share here. You were taught we were talking about Mark Stubes and you were talking about that you thought one of his biggest strengths was in his
Starting point is 00:10:44 assistant coaches and kind of how players looked at him. Talk a little bit about that because I think fans would like to hear that. Yeah, if I can remember correctly, basically talked about, you know, obviously like every workplace, like every sports team, as soon as the players or everyone underneath the boss goes home or goes to a party or whatever, you're going to get chatting about that one guy you don't like. And for us on the staff, the one impressive thing that I found about UK, and I've been at plenty of sporting organisations, when we would go and there'd be 10 of us sitting around table, not one bad word was spoken ever about a coach. It was always, we like these guys. It was never a, man, that's the coach that we need to get rid of. It was always positive stuff.
Starting point is 00:11:24 And I think it's testament to him hiring people that are very, very good at what they do, and he has a good eye for that. And I think that's why we've had a lot of success. It's obviously not just him. It's all the people he puts around him. I think Mark Stoops, I believe this for a long time, I think his best quality, and he has lots of good qualities, but his best quality is he is not scared to put people around him
Starting point is 00:11:46 that are smarter or better at things than he is. A lot of people don't like to do that. A lot of people don't like to, you know, they feel like they have to be the best at every single thing they do. And, you know, on this show, Ryan is nicer to people than I am. So I'm great. Drew is funnier than I am. Mario is better at technology than I am, right?
Starting point is 00:12:11 Shannon is Shannon. And so all of those things. I'm just kidding with you, Shannon. So all of those things are important qualities, and I think Mark is better at that than anybody at feeling like Vince is better recruiting. Go Vince, right? Like, that's a great quality to have. And creating an environment where people want to be there and stay.
Starting point is 00:12:32 I mean, you look at Brad White. You can imagine the amount of office he's had to be a head coach somewhere else. He's probably the best defensive coordinator in the SEC. So those guys want to stay, the coaches want to stay, and then also the players. We were talking about last night. Not one key player has left us yet. And in the NIL era, that's insane to think that not one player has left us and we've been able to bring guys in.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Clearly, he creates that environment where guys want to be there, they enjoy it. And whether they get offers outside, they go, no, this is a place for me. I was connecting. Think about this. Ryan, Max and I were talking about this last night. In the NIL era, which is basically now three transfer seasons, we have not had one player leave us to go to a better score. school that we, unless that we wanted to keep.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Now, if I told you when NIL started that Kentucky would be able to keep all its best players, I would, you probably wouldn't have believed that. You would have thought, well, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, they're going to come steal some of our guys. And we have Ryan kept Dionne Walker, Barry and Brown, like all these Chris Rodriguez, these guys who could have gone somewhere else, that's really a testament because there aren't many schools have been able to do that. Yeah, you're naive if you think these kids didn't have other opportunities to go
Starting point is 00:13:42 someplace else. Harrison this year. I think a lot of schools came after him. It happens. And it's going to continue to happen. But I think what you guys are talking about, the love they've got for this program and this staff, especially, is one of the main reasons they've decided to stay here. And it helps you bring in recruits too. Everyone has a friend on another team that they're going to talk to and be like, hey, man, you should see what it's like in Kentucky. It's awesome. And that's why we've been able to bring guys in NIL, and that's why we haven't lost anyone. Yeah. Well, 859-28027. Max's going to sit with us. He'll be on some with us this year. Hopefully going to get him back doing
Starting point is 00:14:13 some sort of football podcast, we'll see. But when's the first Lexington Christian game? You have a scrimmage tomorrow, scrimmage the next Friday, and then game one against Boyle down at WKU, down west WKU. Yeah, he was reading me the schedule last now. You didn't know where a lot of these places were. No idea. So it was like Boyle County, Pikeville, you didn't know where that was.
Starting point is 00:14:36 No. You're going to Pikeville. Are you excited to go to Pikeville? I bet you've never been to Pikeville before. It's East and Kentucky, right? It's way out in the sticks. It's what I'm looking forward to it. It'll be good.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Fort Knox, I think, was one of them. Ciceland. Raceland. Is Fort Knox Fort Knox like the saying Fort Knox? What do you mean the saying? Like it's as safe as Fort Knox or it's a lot? Yeah, that's where the gold is. America keeps all of its gold in Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Learn something every day. So how about that? I didn't know that. That's cool. And if you beat them, you get some of it. Matt and I jumped out of an airplane and landed in Fort Knox. Yes, we like not just we. I was with you.
Starting point is 00:15:13 That's why I said Matt and I. Oh, okay. I didn't hear about any part of it. And then you're also going to, what, Shawnee? Yes, so like this. So, like, you're really going to get a good tour of the state. I'm looking forward to it, honestly. That was part of the coolness about going out to Murray.
Starting point is 00:15:30 It's seen some parts of the state I hadn't seen before. And then traveling around with these guys is going to be awesome. We want you to see it all the way through a state championship. But if it falls a little short, you could make a KSR road trip. You can get in a car with this and go to Seattle. I know you missed those U-turns. Oh, I would. I was going to say. Imagine the funny thing would be seeing him walk around Europe and still do the U-turns.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Just out of habit. That wasn't nice. Who's up next, Shannon? Kevin. Kevin, how are you, Kevin? Hey, I'm doing good. Doing pretty good. Just over here in Lexington heading over from my chemotherapy treatment right now.
Starting point is 00:16:02 Well, God bless you, man. Good luck with that. Well, thanks. I'm doing that in hemodialysis at the same time right now. and well, what it is, I was listening to you guys, and I wanted to tell you, I kind of had a chance meeting with Travis Perry the other day. After I get done over here from therapy treatments, I'll usually go over to the Joe Kreff Center
Starting point is 00:16:24 and try to sneak in on the deck there and watch a little shoot-around stuff that they're having. And it's been open the last couple times, and I went on the deck, and he came through after he got done shooting. I watched him a little bit, and I was amazed. I mean, he hit 25, three-pointers in a row. And, I mean, that was amazing to me, but then he'd come up on the deck, and he started talking to me, and I told him about, you know, my treatments and stuff, and he was such a great guy, man.
Starting point is 00:16:54 That's awesome. Class act, and then gave me his best. And I said, you hit about 25 in a row. I said, what's the most you've ever hit? And I, because I was impressed. And he said, well, back in my gym in Lyon County, I hit 75 in a row. row one time. And, uh, I mean, he's breaking and, sir, let me just say, God bless you.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Good luck with all your treatments and, uh, you know, stop by some time and say hello. I wish you the best. We have to go to break, but I want to say that to you, all right? Well, thank you. Thank you. I'm 15 minutes away from my last treatment here. So good. I'm glad.
Starting point is 00:17:27 I'm good. Well, good luck to you. Appreciate it. Um, yes, he is an unbelievable shooter. And now Kevin has made it to Drew where people are going to realize that they can sneak into the gym and watch people shooting and practice. I don't know if UK would have liked that, but I have heard a lot of people doing that.
Starting point is 00:17:43 Like, that used to be kind of a locked thing, but people have been kind of sneaking in there and getting on there. So I don't know if Kevin get the word out or not. We won't encourage that behavior, but it sounds like with the mess up there throwing a hard hat and construction vest and go where you need to go. Act like you're long. Are you ready for the ultimate tailgate party, Max? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:18:01 Then go to Clark's Pumping Shop. They have beer, ice, chips, crispy, crunchy chicken, clatters and more. And they can make it Cajun. You can get a chicken. Listen to this. You can get a chicken three piece bone in fried chicken or three tenders and a side of wedges for $5.99. I'm there. Just got a walk there to burn off the calories. You do have to walk there. Clark's Pump and Shop. They got $4 dollar pizza. It's everything you would want. Go get your food at Clark's Pump and Shop. Return, refresh, refuel. We'll take a break and be right back. This Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are

This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue of 42.

Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help somebody, please! But there's so much more to me than that. I'm an actor, I'm a comedian, and recently I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice,
Starting point is 00:21:35 known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Cream a chicken suit. Hey, cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the My Cultura Podcast Network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. American Soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming. Ramos sending on to Ernie Stewart for Chip. I'm Tad Ramos. I'm Tom Boe.
Starting point is 00:22:17 On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, you'll get the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about Balligan. I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions. If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
Starting point is 00:22:37 And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise. if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us. Listen, inside American soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos
Starting point is 00:22:56 on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. Good song. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio. 859-28027. Here's my only, things have been awesome since our turn. Here's my only complaint. The text machine,
Starting point is 00:23:16 the first day, very, very active. Been a little slow since then. So let's text in. 772-7-4-5-254. It's a couple open lines, 859-280-2287. So get in here. One person writes Max, or excuse me, Matt, I am an LCA parent.
Starting point is 00:23:33 I'm super pumped that Max is the new special teams coach. Will he help teach our kids some Australian culture? First time I stood up in front of the group, I said, let's get all the kangaroo jokes out of the way, and then let's get to football because I knew they were coming my way. Yeah, talking to the kickers and the punters a little bit about Australian history,
Starting point is 00:23:53 which there's about 100 years off, so not too much. Not a lot of Australian history? Not a whole lot. I was happy to tell them that we were beating you guys in gold until we weren't, and now I haven't mentioned it. Well, that's all right.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Well, at least you'll be able to do a couple of things for them. One person, Ryan, mentioned Justin Rogers, as a guy that we would have liked to keep. He went to Auburn. I think they would have liked to have kept him, but I also thought with Dionne Walker behind him, it was like, well, if you want to go, go. I mean, I think they felt like,
Starting point is 00:24:24 if they didn't have Deon Walker there, I think they would have really wanted to, but I don't think it mattered to him a lot. Does that make sense? Oh, it makes exactly 100%. You're right. They hated to lose him, but they knew they had some great talent coming up behind him.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Same way with this year when Josiah Hayes went down. They're like, oh, I hate to hear that. But we still got great guys coming up behind him. I think if you didn't have Deon Walker, they would have made more of a play to try to make sure he stayed. But with Deion Walker behind him, I think they were all right, Drew, going, well, I mean, if you want to go, go. Plus, I'm not sure Auburn's a better program right now. No.
Starting point is 00:24:56 I mean, historically, they certainly are, but I don't know that you could say they are right now. They've been down, and, you know, I don't know how promising this year is going to look, but they were picked just one spot ahead of Kentucky in the preseason poll just by a couple points. Yeah. I want to complain just a second about the Herald leader. I know, like, don't get me wrong, I feel bad for the Herald Leader a little bit. You know, they're down to three days a week. Did you know that?
Starting point is 00:25:21 I canceled last month is that bad. The rates got too high. I couldn't do it. But Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday is it, which is kind of amazing to think about, Ryan. If you think about what the Herald leader, like, so it's a little sad. So I'm not trying to beat them up. But it is clear to me that now they do like AI headlines, and they do like headlines from elsewhere.
Starting point is 00:25:45 And they had two stories that I saw the headlines, and I was like, I got a comment. One was yesterday, they had a headline that said, the Fayette County Public School Superintendent is one of the highest paid in the state. Here's why. And I wanted to be like, I don't have to click on that. This is the second biggest city in the state.
Starting point is 00:26:08 I would expect him to be the second highest paid. And so I did click on it. here's a shock the highest paid one is the one in Louisville and the second highest paid and the one in Lexington so Drew I mean you it acted like there was going to be some crazy reason and oh I don't know because they base it on the population of the city and the school district oh that makes sense yeah and it's not just the harold leader I'll click a news story thinking it's local and it'll be Seattle yeah why are you on the front page of you know a next Lexington news outlet or it'll have the these five fruits will make you lose 50 pounds of three days, those kind of blogger, those ads. But I kind of do wonder what those fruits are. They get you, though. They get those clicks.
Starting point is 00:26:49 That's all they care about. I mean, I don't you, Shannon, don't you wonder what the fruits are that make you lose 50 pounds? I want to know. And then this one was egregious. Matter of fact, it was so egregious that they actually looked to me like the next day changed it. The headline said, historic Lexington restaurant opened 48 years is shutting down. Oh, I saw that headline. No, I don't say, don't give this.
Starting point is 00:27:12 When I see that headline, I go, oh no. What is it? I'm already concerned right now. This is clearly a beloved restaurant, Max, that was open 48 years. KFC. What could it be? It was the Arby's on Nicholasville Road. The Arby's at the Lexington Green on Nicholasville Road.
Starting point is 00:27:36 You know what I'm talking about? I know exactly what you're talking about. That Arby's is shutting down. But when you say historic. Lexington Restaurant. Does the Lexington Green Arby's count as an historic Lexington? And then they later changed it, Shannon, to just Lexington Restaurant. Yeah, I mean, there's another one right down the road you can go to. It's not there's any shortage of Arby's. Not to pull Ryan Lemon. I ate Arby's yesterday. Okay, fair enough. So it hasn't affected me too much in Lexington. I love Arby. I like Arby's.
Starting point is 00:28:05 I like the curly fries. I like the beef. But Ryan, I do not think it is an historic Lexington restaurant when you're talking about an Arby's. No, when you said that, I was trying to think in my mind, what could it possibly be? Arby's did not come to mind. The Arby's on Nicholasville Road. So I just want to say to the Harold, I'm all for you doing what you need to do to get clicks. But you cannot put historic Lexington Restaurant and Arby's in the same sentence, Max. You're just not allowed to do that.
Starting point is 00:28:34 So do you just have to be old to be historic or do you have to be like iconic and old? Like, because it's 48 years old. It is historic. There's more, though. No, that's old. There's a, to me. So it should be old restaurant. Old restaurant.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Historic implies that it means something important, right? You can't, you can't say that that is historic. I mean, we joke and call it historic Davis Arena. It's sort of a tongue-in-cheek thing. It's a story. What are you talking about? But I do think, don't you think, Drew, that historic implies it matters somehow? That Arby's, I don't know that it matters.
Starting point is 00:29:17 I mean, I'm sorry, it's closing, but, you know. Yeah, I didn't know that story, so I'm thinking like Joe Polona's, Giuseppe's. I'm thinking of Ramsey's. Some Lexington Legends, not fast food were there multiple locations in town. I had it for lunch. They're doing just fine. It's actually very good. I hadn't been there in a while.
Starting point is 00:29:31 So they, well, I hate to hear it's closing, Ryan, but unfortunately, I guess it is. That spot we just talked. Wasn't that where the old Chi-Chi's used to be? Right beside. It was Chi-Chi's right beside that Arbys. Now, Chee-Chi's is a store. Yeah. When we lost the Chee-Chees, that was sad.
Starting point is 00:29:46 That was sad. I'm not sure that's exactly right. All right. Now, one more. To Monday is our Lexington Golf Scramble. Clark's Pump and Shop bought a team, Max, and they've decided to give it away to the fans. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Very nice. So here's what I'm going to do. If you would like to play in the Lexington Golf Scramble, right now, I'm going to do a trivia game. 859-2-8-8-0-22-87 the first six people in get to play do not call unless you could play in the scramble and get four people i don't want you to win and then go couldn't find anybody's to play with me on monday so i can't like he can't do that you have to know you would win this is a i mean these scrambles cost a lot of money yes they do we've never given one away before but clark's pumping shop is nice enough to do it cannot call no max you cannot call but you can't get in right now. 859, 2802.87. I'm going to give away the scramble with a game here just a second.

Starting point is 00:31:48 This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifference.
Starting point is 00:32:11 show on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown and explore the journey of healing, self-discovery, and returning to yourself. We explore higher consciousness, emotional well-being, the practices that help you find clarity, peace, and self-mastery in a world that can feel overwhelming. The world is becoming lonelier. Starting point is 00:32:54 individualized, but we actually meet people in connection. If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you to hear more. Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app. Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help!
Starting point is 00:33:21 Somebody, please! But there's so much more to me than that. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian, and recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike! I'm a comedian.
Starting point is 00:33:41 I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Cream a chicken suit.
Starting point is 00:33:59 Hey, cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Coutura podcast network available on the I-Fart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam, it's Isaiah Thomas.
Starting point is 00:34:17 And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:34:40 I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Starting point is 00:34:59 Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get to flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball, like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out. real quick. Get your ass up and down the court and you're going to get the balls. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
Starting point is 00:35:18 podcast. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J., he'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. One person writes, Matt, I gave Ryan a Raceland t-shirt. Will he wear it to taunt Max on game week. I wear my Raceland Gilligan hat all summer long, so yes, I will taunt. Their nickname is the Gilligan's? No, they have a Gilligan hat. You know, like the Beach Hat.
Starting point is 00:35:48 They're the Raceland Rams. Yeah, it's a bucket. It's not called a Gilligan. Yeah, I call it a Gilligan hat. You just say that because you're old and you watch the TV show, but it's not called a Gilligan. Yeah. So I will wear it all time.
Starting point is 00:35:59 I will gladly taunt young Matthew, Max. Young Matthew. Close enough. All right, so here's the game. We got six people on. everybody I want you to play at home, even if you're not on here, and think in your name.
Starting point is 00:36:12 You can also text the text machine. If you get the text in, if you get the correct answer, got to be exactly correct, in before it is set on the air, because I'm going to leave the text machine up. Once it's set on the air, you can't win. Then I'm going to give a price
Starting point is 00:36:28 to the first person that texted into the text machine. It's not golf scramble, but a different price. 772-7-5-25. So you can play at home, 772, 774-5254. Here's the question. I want you to take me, Ryan, Drew,
Starting point is 00:36:45 Shannon, Max, and Mario. Six of us. Add up our ages. Whoever is the closest wins. So Matt, Ryan, Drew, Shannon, Mario, Max. Six ages. Add them up.
Starting point is 00:37:05 Whoever of these colors is the, closest. We'll get to play in the KSR Golf Scramble on the Clark's Pump and Shop team. And I'm sure you'll get Clark's Pump and Shop gear. Get some swag. Get some swags. This is a great prize. So who's up first? Yeah. Let's go to Jason. Jason, where are you from? Jason. Great start. Jason, are you there or not? Yeah, I'm here. All right. Yeah, I'm here. You are a millisecond from being disqualified. Where are you from, Jason? Danville. Where?
Starting point is 00:37:41 Danville. Danville. All right. What is your guess? 125. 125. So you'd guess that you think our, you think, hang on, 225. There's six of us.
Starting point is 00:37:58 You think our combined, you think our average age is 21? No. Yeah, we probably should have disqualified you. I appreciate it, Jason. We're going to go ahead and say you're not going to win. Well, we've set the floor. I only go up. I hate everybody else.
Starting point is 00:38:16 I mean, literally, none of us are 21. Not the best first guess by Jason. I've had some bad guesses in my day. That one was pretty bad. All right, who's second? Sam. Sam, where are you from? Lexington.
Starting point is 00:38:30 Lexington. What is your guess? Going with 243 years. 243 years. Okay, thank you, Sam. Stay on hold. Who's next? All right, hang on, Sam.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Let's go to John Settle. John Settle. Where do you live? Nicholasville. Nicholasville. Give me your guess. 207. 207.
Starting point is 00:38:52 All right, who's next? Hang on. Who's next? Okay. John Franklin. John Franklin. Where do you live? Lexington.
Starting point is 00:39:00 Lexington. What's your guess? 254. 254. All right. Two more guesses. Hang on. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:39:09 Cole. Cole. Where do you live? Bowling Green. Bowling Green. What is your guess? 242. 242. And then finally, who's next? Kristen. Kristen. Kristen, a female guesser. Where are you from?
Starting point is 00:39:25 Hey, I'm from Lexington and 187, and I just wanted to welcome Max back on behalf of all the females in Fayette County. See, here we go. The women love Max's voice. Yes, they do. They come on. They're like, oh, they're glad for Max's back. See, you know, if I, all I need is an Australian accent. That would have changed everything. You're very fortunate for that. You know that, right? I appreciate that, Christian. And shout out to Clark Family Foms.
Starting point is 00:39:51 Thanks for the call. You know her? You messed up by having his return to see the truth. Oh, you know her. Oh, that's not as, that's not. All right. So we have 125, 243, 207, 254, 242, 242, and 187. The correct answer, and I'll also.
Starting point is 00:40:09 see who got it on the text machine. The correct answer is 237. So Cole in Bowling Green was off by five years. What are you looking at? Wait, what? I thought that's the correct answer? 237. Sorry, go. What? He's only 24. Okay. Okay, go. Divide 237 by 6. It would average at about 39.5. That's about right. I thought it was 196. Didn't you say 196 before? He hadn't added Shannon. He was adding in real time. I had to add Shannon.
Starting point is 00:40:45 He was showing his work. Sorry, Shannon. I was doing it in my head as I went. Then when you add Shannon's 41, we got to 237, and that was the answer. So I guess Cole is the winner. Cole, congratulations. Thank you. Cole, you're in Bowling Green.
Starting point is 00:41:02 Who are you going to bring to play on your team? Okay. Cole, you got to get your phone to work. All right, Cole. You know, working. All right. Okay, so who are you going to get to play on your team? I've got some friends that'll play.
Starting point is 00:41:17 Okay. All right, well, here's what you do. Hang on. We need to get your phone number and email. Shannon will send it to me, and then somebody will contact you, okay? Thank you very much. All right. Congrats to Cole.
Starting point is 00:41:28 He is the winner. Congratulations to Cole on the, and when I get home later, I'll figure out who won on the text machine. I did see a 237 pop-up. up. I'll have to see though if it was the first one or not. That went well. While you were gone, I did a ticket giveaway. I worked really hard to pick the winner. I reached out to them and they said I can't go. So I got to fill a KSR game. I hope this one follows through much better than that if you're looking at what makes Matt the maddest, it is when I give something away and then
Starting point is 00:41:57 they tell me that they can't go. Because it's like I had hundreds of people that wanted to go, you won and then you're like, well, I didn't ask my wife. And now my wife won't let me go. and I'm like, Drew showed me something when you were taking those calls as well that might be a little bit worrying for Kentucky football. Yeah. Well, John Settle was a running's back coach for UK. Was that him that called it? Do we have the UK coaches trying to participate in our games? Oh, you, there was a guy named John Settle.
Starting point is 00:42:23 That was the running back coach just a little bit. I didn't know if he hung around as trying to play in the golf table. Running backs coach? He probably doesn't have much of those things as he's not here anymore. Willie Collie Stein asked me if he could play in the KSR golf scramble. The date just didn't just didn't just didn't. work out but I think future golf scrambles maybe we can get Willie would be great to be out there
Starting point is 00:42:41 yeah no if you're a former Kentucky basketball player and like played in recent years you're in like we'll find a way just not if you're a recent football player because if you're a recent football play don't get invited that's fine I'm worried about it's like hundreds of you what am I going to do
Starting point is 00:42:58 I bet you got a good foot wedge make it if you've got a pitcher up on the wall or something I don't know 859 280 22807 tell me about stock to board stock to mortgage just talked to a couple just this week's matter of fact they'd use stock to mortgage from the purchase of their home they realized they had a little escrow shortage so they had a lot of questions

Starting point is 00:47:38 I'm not worried about balligan. I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions. If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise
Starting point is 00:47:56 if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us. Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tabramos on the IHeart Radio app, podcast wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio, 859, 2807, here at KS Bar and Grill.
Starting point is 00:48:26 I had a lot of people guess the ages. Most people were pretty close. No one was near the guy who said 125. I got a good laugh out of that. Put me back in my 20s, I think he did. If you did it like, if you kind of tried to even us out, basically you even out Ryan, Mario. Yeah. I kind of even out Matt.
Starting point is 00:48:46 and then Drew and Shannon even out each other. And so it puts you right where it is. It's kind of like right exactly where we are. I just enjoy that the guy thinks that we're all in our 20s. Yeah. I think it's a great idea. Appreciate the compliment. Yeah, thank you.
Starting point is 00:49:01 That is very nice. One person writes, it's hard for me to see Max living in Murray, Kentucky, but I guess if you're a coach, you have to go anywhere. So here's a question for you. In the four major conferences for you guys, what city would you most want to live in, what city would you least want to live in? All right, let's start with,
Starting point is 00:49:20 let's take Lexington now. So let's say in the SEC, what city would you most want to live in? For me, I'm going to throw Nashville out. It's not fair. It's not like the other cities. I don't think that counts. So let's say, let's take Nashville out,
Starting point is 00:49:36 then I'm going to say, well, I'd probably say Austin, Texas, and I'd say now that we have that. And worse, no doubt, Starkville, Mississippi. What about you, Ryan? Yeah, because Tuscaloosa, I wouldn't want to live there. Auburn, Alabama's a pretty town. Small, though.
Starting point is 00:49:54 Yeah. I'm kind of a small town guy. Athens, Georgia was kind of a woman. You're just now mentioning cities. Which one are you picking? I'm talking it out. I'm going to go with, I'll go Athens, Georgia. You go, and where would you not want to live?
Starting point is 00:50:08 Gainesville. Gainesville. All right. What about you? I wouldn't want to live in Nashville. It's too busy. but if the football quality doesn't matter, Austin.
Starting point is 00:50:16 Austin, where would you not want to live? Nashville. Oh, Nashville? Oh, really? Nashville's last for you. It's too busy. Interesting. Very easy picks for me.
Starting point is 00:50:23 Very passionate about both. I love Austin, and I hate Starkville. You and I are on the same page. But I'll put Athens as a close second. You know, Athens would be close. Oddly, Knoxville would be close for me because it'd be close to home. And you love the balls. That would be the hard part.
Starting point is 00:50:39 Shannon, what about you? I don't live in Lexington, so I think I should be able to pick Lexington. Okay. So I'll take that one. The one I wouldn't want to go to, I wouldn't want to go to Alabama. We're going to go to Tuscaloosa. All right.
Starting point is 00:50:49 Let's do the Big Ten. Big Ten. You get all the cities in the Big Ten. Where do you want to live? Where do you not? For me, in the Big Ten, of the cities I've been to in the Big Ten, I think I would enjoy Ann Arbor the most. I think Ann Arbor is actually, it's a big city.
Starting point is 00:51:05 Like, you don't realize how big Annar. It's a lot bigger than you think it is. Worst West Lafayette. Yes. I don't think that's anyway. What about you? That West Lafayette is definitely what you don't want to be. I guess I could say Chicago.
Starting point is 00:51:19 And what's Evanston, though, it's not Chicago. It's about 40 minutes away. That might be me better. Just kind of be a suburb of Chicago. You're going to say Evans. Yeah, I'll say Evans. Yeah, what about you? I'll take Eugene because I've never been there before, so I'd like to.
Starting point is 00:51:30 So I'll just say I'll live there. And then L.A. again, it's too big. Too big. Okay. L.A. is my pick. I'm going L.A.1. It narrowly beats out Ann Arbor, and I'm certainly with you on not been anywhere near Purdue. Shannon. Yeah, West Lafayette's the least. Nobody said, is Maryland? They're in the conference, right?
Starting point is 00:51:48 Maryland is in the big ten. Maryland is kind of a beautiful place that I've driven through. You're living college park Maryland. Let's go. Oh, wow, that's an interesting. East Lansing's one I wouldn't mind, too. We've enjoyed our East Lansing trips. All right, let's go to the ACC. We can't pick Louisville, just because. Why would we? Just kidding. I like the city. Yeah. For me, in the ACC, I'd probably want to live in Raleigh. I've lived there before.
Starting point is 00:52:15 I think it's really nice, close to the beach. Carolina hurricanes are there. I think the worst for me would be... Hmm. What's a bad place in the ACC? I'm looking at the list here. Mine would be... I don't have any obvious terrible ones.
Starting point is 00:52:33 Mine would be whatever city Clemson's in, it's probably Clemson. It is not good. Dabo's there. Why would you want to be there? It'd be the worst. cities in the ACC. I'll just go in order here. We have Boston College.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Oh, I know. I'm taking Miami. Oh, no, they're in the Big 12. Miami. Miami is yes where you live? I know that's busy, but it's a great place. Go ahead. Miami's my number one pick.
Starting point is 00:52:52 You got Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts for Boston College, Berkeley, California, Clemson, Durham, Tallahassee, Atlanta, Louisville, Coral Gables with Miami, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Texas, Stanford. Notre Dame. I don't want to live in the place. Stanford, Syracuse, Charlottesville, Blacksville, Blacks, Blacksburg. South Bend, Indiana.
Starting point is 00:53:12 I don't want to live there. Living in Indiana seems like just hell. But go ahead. What about you? Yeah, I'm Matt and Max and I'm going to pick Miami. We'll all three pick a Miami. I'll go to Coral Gables to live. I guess don't want to live.
Starting point is 00:53:25 Maybe even Tallahassee. Okay. What about you? I'm going to Coral Gables and I'm enjoying no, no Indiana for me. I like to visit Notre Dame. I'll pop in. I like the campus area, but I don't want to live up. Shannon?
Starting point is 00:53:36 Miami would be by pick. I would not want to live in Durham. Okay. Oh, I think you'd like Durham. Okay. I'm done there. Yeah. Us four on the beach in Miami would be perfect, wouldn't it? How good would we'd? It could be part of a road trip.
Starting point is 00:53:50 That is true. So, Big 12, everything. I mean, it's everywhere. The Big 12 is at this point all over the world. I'm going to take Boulder, Colorado. I think Boulder, Colorado is an awesome, awesome place, and worst Lawrence, Kansas. No, Waco, Texas. That is my exact answer right there when you know.
Starting point is 00:54:13 You're not to ask me. Yes. Boulder, Colorado and Lawrence, Kansas, all right. Yep. I don't want to live in Waco, Texas. That would probably be why don't want to. Oh, Waco, Texas bad, too. But you're close to Dallas and Austin in Waco.
Starting point is 00:54:24 So that's a, yeah, but go ahead. Is there still a big 12 school in Dallas? SMU is in Fort Worth, which is right next to it. I might take that. I might take that. Oh, Tech. Love it'd be bad. I'm just, that's, Texas places.
Starting point is 00:54:38 Lubbock's way out there, but go ahead. I'm with you on Boulder. And then worst would be wherever West Virginia is. Oh, Morgan Town. That's a good call. Don't forget you can go to Cincinnati nearby. Stay close to home. Wherever West Virginia is, okay.
Starting point is 00:54:54 I think of my younger life, I would have picked Tempe, Arizona, and Arizona State for different reasons. But you know what? I forgot that was in the, I'm going off the grid. I'm going Salt Lake City. I've never been. You want to live in Salt Lake City? I like Utah. I've enjoyed my brief time in Utah. Just try something new. That is off the board that you would have picked something like that. Well, I don't want Manhattan, Manhattan, Kansas, or Lawrence, Kansas, or Morgantown or Cincinnati. So I was just trying to think of something completely different.
Starting point is 00:55:21 Okay. Where would you not want to live? Lawrence. Lawrence, Kansas. The bad things about Lawrence, Kansas. Number one, it's in Kansas. Secondly, the only thing there is Kansas. And third, it's not anywhere close to an airport. Right. Like if you want to go live in Lawrence, Kansas, you've got to drive two hours to go to, to even get out of there. You have to drive two hours, Ryan, to even get to an airport. I want to change mine. I forgot about Boulder, Colorado. That's what we, well, me and Shannon said.
Starting point is 00:55:49 I was skipped right over that. Yeah. What were you going to say? The Morgantown is kind of the same way. They don't have an airport within a couple hours of Morkentown, I think. Do you have to go all the way to Pittsburgh? It's a John. I heard Neil Brown talking about.
Starting point is 00:56:01 He's hard to recruit there because the airport is so far away on recruiting trips. Yeah. So, well, Max, I really enjoyed having you here. Let people know how they can watch your Lexington Christian Cheating Academy play football this year. You turn up any time you want on on Friday and you'll see a team just absolutely demolish someone else. So we're looking forward to this season, Matt. I think we're going to be state champs. Anything less is a complete disaster. We'll actually call ourselves world champs like you guys do. So we'll be the world champs of 3A or whatever division we're in. I don't know. We don't care about it. By the way, he does not, just for the record, he does not know whether they're 2A or 3. I was like, is Lexington Christian 2A or 3? He didn't know. Doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:56:42 Just about getting better every day. That's all it's about. He'll play what's in front of them. Doesn't matter how many a. How does he not know what division is? You know, I think maybe something you should learn. Now that you're going to call on the coaching staff. What Lexington Christian?
Starting point is 00:56:52 Two A. They're 2A. Yeah. So they're in Middlesbril's division. Still in Middlesbril. Still in Middellboro with race learning. Let me just tell you something. If you get, if Lexington Christian gets Middlesbril this year, expect a beat down.
Starting point is 00:57:04 U-Turn bowl. On our size. That's exactly right. It will be the U-turn bow. Have you ever had Ryan fallen for like an email scam? Maybe over time of my life I may have fallen for something like that this week. Pelican technologies can help you. Okay.

They can also help you personally. They can help back up all your data so you don't lose it. Nice. Keep your credit cards from being stolen. Oh, that happens. Starting point is 00:57:40 So this is good for me. Once a year. Yeah. Do you know he writes his pen number on the back of his debit card? So if he were to lose it, the pin numbers right there? I found that out. You're being serious? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:53 He's lying. That's what your LAX-18 lunch told me when they were in here. Did you ever do it at one time? You may have been back in the day, but not gone anymore. Have you ever done it? Oh, I have done it before. There we go. There we go.
Starting point is 00:58:03 I wasn't completely raw. back in the 90s Ryan's email address is his mother's maiden name and social security number at gmail.com well Pelicon can help you keep that from happening
