now through August 31st.
So let's go a couple things.
Carl Towns yesterday, Drew,
did an interview where he talked
about how much he liked
Coach Cal.
Coach Cal was a father figure,
but then he also said,
don't make any mistake about it,
I bleed blue and will
always bleed blue.
I like that a whole lot.
I thought that was good.
I'll be honest.
He said that on first.
Fondbaum. I was a little surprised to hear Carl Towns on Fondbom. You know, that's not a regular guest on there.
But yeah, he started off, of course, with all the love for Cali, talked about all of us Calipari players or family,
all the things you would expect him to say as a Calipari guy. But he made sure to let everybody know that it's still all Kentucky for him.
I like that because, I mean, I expect them, Shannon. I expect them to love Cal, they should.
He's their coach. You know, the Patino guys always loved Rick, no matter what.
But there was a part of me that wondered, like, well, we never see him again.
And I think everyone I've heard talk has all been very clear.
Like we ain't all of a sudden going to start going to Fayetteville and like rooting for Arkansas.
They're noting we love Cal, but we're Kentucky guys.
I've always wondered especially for the one and done guys, you know, that are here just for a few months, then they're gone.
Where does that loyalty lie?
Are they Cal guys?
Are they Kentucky guys?
I guess to a degree they could be both.
But we've seen especially with Lafamilia, it's been so nice seeing former players come back and saying, hey, I'm all Kentucky.
I think for the vast majority of these guys, they, you know, not everybody, not everybody has a great experience,
but for the vast majority of the guys, they will tell you, and we've heard them say it,
the most fun year of their lives playing basketball was here, right?
The most fun year was here.
They had the best time.
I actually think with NIL, it'll be even more, because imagine you could have all that fun and make money.
I mean, it makes it even better.
But, you know, DeMarcus cousins has said that.
John Wall has said that.
Willie Collie Stein has said that.
They've all said that just for pure fun, this was the most fun.
I mean, we heard that interview with John Wall, where John Wall was like, I mean,
I thought about coming back, and he was going to be the number one overall pick,
and I actually believe him because those guys had so much fun.
John Wall's had a pretty good life.
He called that the best year of his life, and that's one of the perks of being a Kentucky
basketball player.
You're beloved until the end of time.
It sticks with you forever.
So some of these guys are probably going to pop in an Arkansas game, or you might see
them support Cal a little bit.
That's completely normal.
Heck, I'd do the same thing if I play for them.
But at the end of the day, they know they're Kentucky through and through.
And I don't expect anyone to actually switch sides.
It's certainly to Arkansas around.
You know, we'd like to play what if every now and that.
Could you imagine a second year of John Wall and what that would look like?
I mean, like he would have been ridiculous.
I thought you would like this, Shannon.
They're going to do a John Madden biography.
Did you know this?
No, I didn't.
It's a John Madden movie, okay, about John Madden.
I'm not sure what the storyline is, but a John Madden movie.
I want you, if you haven't heard, have you heard who's playing John Matt?
You have.
All right, so then I'll do it with you, Shannon.
I want you to take a guess.
What actor is going to play John Madden in the John Madden movie?
John Goodman?
That would be a really good one, although he got too skinny.
He's gotten skinny.
I can see him as that, though.
Is it a bigger self?
In his bigger self, that would have been a good call.
Yeah.
That's not who it is.
Playing John Madden in the John Madden movie, Nicholas Cage.
No way.
He plays the most bizarre, strange roles.
I can't see Nicholas Cage as John Madden, though.
Nicholas Cage is going to be playing John Madden in the John Madden bio picture.
So, I mean, like, he's going to have to, no offense, put on some weight to, how long do you do that?
They probably do a lot with makeup.
Did you ever see the movie about George W. Bush and Christian Bale played Dick Cheney?
I didn't see that.
Did you ever see that?
And he looked exactly like him.
And, you know, Cheney's probably 25 years older and 50 pounds heavier, and Drew, he looked exactly like him.
Yeah, the same guy that played Batman, played Dick Cheney, and he made both of them work.
Yeah.
Well, I saw the Nicholas Cage news.
I couldn't believe it, but I'm actually excited about it.
I'm ready to hear him talk about Turducket and all the John Madden things.
I'm sure he could pull it off.
It doesn't seem like the best of casting, though, out of all the actors in Hollywood.
I'm a little low budget.
That's the one that he's going to end up.
You can give me 100 guesses.
I wouldn't have said Nicholas.
Me either.
I wouldn't have either.
John Goodman was a good guess.
Who's up next?
Brian is up next.
Brian, go ahead.
Good morning, fellas.
Good morning.
I think the biggest concern for, or not concern, I guess advice.
I'm BVN, too.
I know we're crazy.
But we need to temper our expectations.
Again, like you said, the pipeline for Kentucky,
we don't have in-house
talent
like anybody else in the SEC
and so us being able to pull
from where we pull from
again like you said the other day
kudos to Vince and
the staff are doing what they do
but for us
we need to temper
expectations as far as what we
consider to be year in
year out, season by season.
I'm totally with you.
And it's a testament, and I appreciate the call.
It's a testament to what Mark Stoops has done here,
that there is a young generation of fans.
How old are you?
27.
So you're a little older than that,
but there's a young generation of fans that are two or three years younger than you,
who in their formative years of being a football fan have never seen us been bad, right?
I remember us being bad.
You all remember.
And for that generation,
The idea of, well, you could have a team where you win three games is not something that they've been used to.
That's good.
I'm glad they didn't have to experience watching Tennessee beat us 50 to nothing every single year.
But Ryan, you do have to know that history to know what they've accomplished.
Vince Mero and Mark Stoops making Ohio Kentucky North is one of the great changes that has ever happened for Kentucky football.
But will that continue when they're gone?
Probably not, right?
Like probably not.
I mean, all their connections were in Ohio.
It's funny you said that.
My 17-year-old son has never seen Kentucky have a losing record.
And he's talked about how he thinks Kentucky is up there with the Georgia's, the Alabama,
the LSUs because they've had all this success.
And since he's been around old enough to understand what's happening.
And I'm glad they feel like that.
But it also is important to recognize like that's not necessary.
I mean, take Mississippi State.
Okay.
Mississippi State, what was it, 10 years ago was the number one team in the country with
Dak Prescott at one point.
They came into Lexington, I believe, right?
Number one year.
Okay, they were great.
Mississippi State, we looked at their schedule.
They may win three games this year.
They may win three games.
Like, for schools like that, it's hard.
It's not that long ago when we were in the middle of two historic losing streaks.
And if you told me 10, 15 years ago that you'd win four out of five against Florida,
I simply would not believe you.
I'm probably going to beat him again this year.
Might be a favorite in Gainesville.
Just turning that around and even being remotely competitive in the SEC,
I think has been an unbelievable job.
Now, I want to keep going, but it's not a disappointment if it doesn't.
Florida, by the way, has the hardest schedule, Shannon, in the history of football this year.
I mean, they got, like, all the hardest teams in the SEC,
and they play Miami and Florida State and Central Florida.
Like, Billy Napier, I mean, it would be a miracle for them to go 500.
Yeah, they're going to be battle tested too by the time that Kentucky gets them, right?
So which means that game might be a little bit.
Like, we kind of expect to beat Florida, I think.
Part of us does.
Which is crazy.
Yeah, but this year.
But they also might be worn down from six or seven games of playing really hard teams.
That's the other way to look at it.
That could be another game where Kentucky gets somebody fired.
If he loses in Gainesville to Kentucky with the schedule they have, that might be it for him.
That's exactly right.
If we beat him, he will be fired.
I think that's almost certain.
Who's next?
Got Ken up next.
Ken, what's up, Ken?
Yeah, I got two questions for you.
Go for it.
If we happen to go undefeated in football, I'm not saying we will,
but if we happen to go undefeated, win a national title,
are you taking another 10-week vacation?
I mean, I may do that whether we win or lose one day.
But no, I mean, let me be clear.
I want to be wrong about everything I'm saying.
I want to be wrong.
I used to say we could never recruit a top 25 class.
Guess what I ended up being wrong?
Because I didn't foresee Vince Mero being able to do what he did in Ohio.
I hope to be wrong.
And you know what?
If I'm wrong, I'll be the happiest person in the room being wrong.
So I hope I am.
But, yeah, the vacation, I'm not going to take 10 weeks,
but I'm not going to put it on whether or not they win a national championship.
And my second question is this.
if you could go back in time and watch and go to any UK
based on basketball game and football game in the past
and rewatch it in person, what games would you go to in the regular season?
Regular season UK basketball and football game, you could relive.
Love that question.
Football, I think I'm going back to 07 and playing LSU
when they were number one because if you remember that,
I left that stadium for a girl and I wish I hadn't done that.
He had your priorities in line.
At the time.
But in hindsight, I wish I'd been there to watch him beat number one.
Basketball?
Regular season.
Regular season.
I remember the energy of the John Wall, North Carolina game,
just because it was like we're back and there was such a feeling of joy.
that's the one that in my comes what about you oh no i know i know i know what i would like to have been
i'd love to have been in the game where they beat shack and chris jackson with that team that went
14 and 14 in ruff arena and the game wasn't even on television that's the game ryan i'd love to
have been at because i've you always hear people say it was amazing in there that's the answer that
maybe one of the loudest rufferina has ever been is that game what about the first kentucky louisville
basketball game.
Yeah, but we lost.
They lost in the tournament, but then the record season.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I think there's some mystery about that Kentucky LSU game because it wasn't on television.
And so, like, because it wasn't live on television, it's almost like the people there
kind of had a special memory that other people didn't get to be a part of.
So that's probably mine for basketball.
So actually, oddly, both of mine drew are against LSU.
I have a couple running through my brain since we're in Louisville.
We'll start there.
Cal's first Louisville game when
DeMarcus wiped his elbow off
was Swapshire's forehead.
He had blood, so getting, not because they were fighting,
but it was kind of a statement that Kentucky's back
and we're serious.
And, of course, we didn't know what would happen
to have that dominate little from there,
but that was Cal's first group in the first time
Rupp was rocking.
I felt like he really turned it around.
And then Stevie Got Loose is one of my all-time favorites.
It's in the crowd for that one.
I'll add one I wasn't at a little,
I mean, I remember it,
but I didn't remember a whole lot about the atmosphere.
It was the comeback at LSU.
Oh, yeah, that would have been great.
Yeah, for a road game, I'd like to have been in the arena when Patrick Sparks got fouled on the three,
and he made those free throws, and Rick got so angry.
That was here.
Ryan, I think that would have been a fun one to be in.
I was at that game.
The Jody Meeks game in Tennessee.
Oh, dude, that would have been awesome.
The Jody Meeks game, because you could have just made the Tennessee fans eat it.
They couldn't stop them.
The Tashon Prince game where he went off on North Carolina.
Rupp was going crazy.
I wasn't there at that game, but I can imagine just being there would have been.
Awesome. When the football team finally won one in Knoxville, when they had all the pick sixes and creating turnovers,
they've been fun to break the nail-in stream. Yeah, for a road atmosphere, I'd love to have been down
at Florida when they broke that streak. When Stevie Johnson made the pass and all that, that would have been
because, I mean, I was at South Carolina when Stoops got his first big road win at South Carolina,
and the locker room in there is probably one of my favorite UK moments of all time. So I'm sure
at Florida when they finally beat that, that would have been great.
like that one, but I wouldn't trade our KS Bar experience for that.
That was our first football game at KS Bar.
Tom Hart shout us out.
Ryan lost his shirt.
I mean, that's champagne going everywhere.
I think that might have been better than being there.

Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer?
Well, then you got it.
Do you want a white collar or something?
Here, just a second.
Oh, what are y'all doing?
Microphones?
Are you making a rap album?
Oh, I would.
Come on.
I would buy it.
Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake.
That sounds delicious.
Oh, you're lucky.
I'm not a drug addict.
You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic.
You are.
You are.
I'm not a killer.
I love this team, and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.

Welcome back, Tech Sports Radio, here live at Shady Race.
Do you, Ryan, do you have a way for us to get the Malacomareno News?
Zach Gagan, he's going to be live on the phone with me.
He's there at the announcement, so we'll have it immediately.
So what we'll do is we'll have you stand right there on the phone with him.
Yeah.
And the moment he makes a decision, you'll run over, but don't you'll run over,
but don't show the answer on your face.
You see what I'm saying?
That's going to work.
You can't look happy or sad.
Poker face.
And then you just come on and go, Malachi Marino is a whatever.
Okay.
Got it.
Got it.
Have some breaking news, Rick.
Shannon, the W.
WWE has announced they are going to make title belts for 20 colleges in America,
one of which is Kentucky.
Oh, that is awesome.
Do you have a picture of said title?
They have the Alabama one.
one, but they don't have the Kentucky pitch.
Didn't Mitch have one in that weird cow interview on his shelf?
That was like the talk of that.
And if you don't think I'm buying one of those, you're crazy.
We will.
But you think the asking prices on one of those?
Three, four.
A couple hundred bucks at least, yeah.
But I'm going to get one because he can't.
I mean, those are you just wearing it around town.
Oh, out of the skyline.
You'll just have it on.
There it is.
Oh, and it's blue.
Beautiful.
Text me that and sit it to me so I can post.
That's really cool.
We screenshot it.
That actually does look really cool.
So I know what I will be by.
859-2-80-22-87.
Did you hear about Notre Dame, their swim team?
Notre Dame has shut down.
It's swim team.
Shut it down.
Because they found that they were not only gambling on swimming.
They had created their own in-house sports book.
They literally would gamble on each other's swimming times
and allow friends to gamble on their time.
And they literally created their own in-house sports book, Drew.
I'm not doing that.
I mean, that's kind of wild, is it?
That's very bold.
I mean, we've got a couple examples last couple of years of college athletics getting a lot of trouble for gambling.
I love that they thought, we're not going to tone it down.
We're just going to have our own bookie and try to do it off the books and then got caught right away.
They think no one would notice.
That's not going to say.
They're betting on themselves.
How long do they legitimately think they could keep that under the wraps?
I don't know.
Clearly not long enough.
But, I mean, that's an ACC team shut down over.
They've just ended the team, at least temporarily, because of it.
You know, the people that were against gambling to start with,
they were afraid if something like this would happen.
I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, to be honest.
Well, to be quite frank with you, honestly,
the legal gambling is the thing like you can catch people on that.
It's that stuff that's worse, because how do you get it?
catch them. Like, you don't even know what they're doing. At least when you make a bet with,
you know, Draft Kings, you, it's a fish, like, that's how the guy, the baseball coach got caught,
was because Draft Kings was like, wait a minute, what's this guy doing? They actually have a very good
system in place for irregular bets. So if a big bet on Notre Dame swimming comes in, okay, they know
they're on to something. I just can't believe they went so reckless to be like, you know,
we'll just go off the grid, create her own, and then still got caught. Yeah, who's up next?
Stephen is up next. Stephen, go ahead, Stephen.
it. First time, long time.
$550.
Who are?
I don't know.
That's a lot.
That's a lot.
Go ahead.
It's more than bronze.
So two points.
First of all, I completely 100% agree that this is the golden age of Kentucky football.
And I say that because of the point you just made.
I set in the stands as a UK student in the early 90s and watched Coach Curry and that
team. It's so far from there, we ought to be down on our knees thinking Mark Stoops every season
for what he's done. And the second point is, is that every UK football fan should be excited
as can be because of the change of the playoffs. We have a shot. We do have a shot. It's a possibility,
but we've never had this possibility before. And I don't know that we would have ever had it,
but for the expansion of the team.
Totally agree with you.
I mean, one of the things, and I appreciate the call it makes me so excited about the
playoff is that we can make it one year.
We can make it.
I mean, it's not.
And if they go to 16, then we really can make it one year.
I mean, if they go to 16, what they're going to do is they'll say the SEC gets four,
the Big Ten gets four, ACC and Big 12 get two, one for the group of five, and then three
wild cards.
And the reality is if there's three wild cards, the SEC is going to get one of those.
So generally speaking, five of 16 SEC teams would make it every year.
And we can be one of those five in a given year.
I don't know that we can be one of the two, but we could be one of the five.
And Ryan, that is exciting to me and why I hope when they, and I think they will in two years,
announce expansion to 16, that will be very, that'll be awesome.
I am a firm believer that it is going to happen.
I mean, they're going to make the playoffs one year, have a game at Ohio State or Penn State or something.
This state will go nuts when that happens.
Yes.
And we were talking about Missouri's schedule earlier.
If you get a schedule that lines up like theirs is now, we would be having the playoff talk before the season begins of having that potential.
Well, let's just make that dream.
Let me just dream right now for a second because I feel like I feel like I've come off as more negative than I am.
So let me just dream about this year.
It's not crazy.
Okay?
It's not crazy.
Here's why.
Our non-conference game against Louisville is going to look really good
because Louisville is going to be good this year.
They're not going to be great, but they're going to be good.
Let's just assume we beat the three stinking teams, and let's assume we beat Vandy.
In my opinion, you've got eight games, you've got to win five to go to a playoff.
I think if Kentucky, with their current schedule, going to Texas, going to Old Miss,
playing Georgia, playing Louisville, if you won nine, I think that's,
you'd get in. So how do you win nine? All right. Beat South Carolina at home. Yep. Now we're at five.
Beat Auburn at home. Now we're at six. I don't even think we have to be that good to do those
things. So if we're, let's put them to the side. Now you've got four games. I'm going to assume
we lose to Georgia. At Florida, we've beaten them four in the last five years. Now we're at seven.
Louisville, we've beaten them five straight years. Now we're at eight. And that means,
at Tennessee, at Old Miss, at Texas, win one.
In one of them.
Not crazy.
Not crazy.
Not crazy at all.
In a 16-team playoff, that would get you in.
And in a 12-team playoff will probably be one of the teams they debate if you had that record.
So, you know, as much as I said, like, we should be happy with 7 and 8, this year we could win 5.
But nine, Ryan, is not crazy.
And nine is a playoff this year, maybe.
It's not crazy to think that that could possibly happen.
This team has the talent.
I think this is going to be the best team.
They can go out.
I do think overall depth of talent, they're the best team.
Got to see what Brought Vandergriff does.
That's the key is what does he do.
We will take a break.
Malachi Moreno decision.

So right now, Ryan, I thought you were going to be on the phone with that.
Are you playing words with friends?
What do you do it?
You got wordle?
It may be several minutes.
They got a lot of people that's going to speak before he actually does the commitment.
Okay.
It's a whole ceremony.
You're going to, like, keep us up on it.
You're not going to miss it, are you?
No, no, I am ready to go.
Are you sure?
I'm positive.
All right, so let's quickly talk about him.
He is, what, how tall is he?
Six.
Seven foot.
Seven foot?
Yeah.
A place at Great Crossing.
Watched him play a couple times last year.
They were in the, what, state tournament.
I saw with Harlan.
I think Harlan beat him.
You know, I think the kid has got a lot of potential, obviously a great player in the state.
Athletic. Ryan, you've seen him a lot.
What do you think of him as a play?
I've seen him play since he was like a sixth grader, and he was always a tallest kid on the floor,
and he has worked his ass off to become a great player.
You know, we had him on this summer.
I'm sorry.
We had him on this summer, and I think one of the best things that was happened to that
is where his older brother, Michael, said he stayed home and played at EKU
so he could be here as a mentor for his younger brother Malachi.
I mean, that's how close those two guys are.
And I think he's not just a great player.
He's a great kid.
He comes from a great family.
You think he can do at Kentucky?
If he picks Kentucky.
I think he's a guy by the time he develops more.
He could be a dominant.
I mean, he's just a rim protector, good rebounder, good touch around the basket.
Give people a comp, like a equivalency to a Kentucky player of the past.
Who's your mind you of?
I would say maybe he's a little better version than, well, that's a good question.
Willie coming out of high school?
He's not as athletic as Willie, but that's a good comparison.
He's more skilled than Willie was.
But Willie wasn't skilled when he got here.
So there were questions about if he was just using the size to dominate KHSA basketball.
This summer he stepped out.
He went to, I think it was that NBA players camp, absolutely dominated, a couple others.
So he's gone up against the other bigs and proven it's not just that he's taking advantage of what's around him in Kentucky.
He stepped out and played all the guys in the class and really shined.
He's down to Kentucky.
Pretty much people think Kentucky in Indiana.
He's got five schools, but people think it's going to be Kentucky in Indiana.
You feel good?
I mean, go on record.
On podcast, we're going on record right before it happens.
Yeah, I'm expecting it.
Looking forward to it also.
My crystal ball has said Kentucky for a long time.
He's coming to Kentucky.
Crystal ball.
Shannon?
I hate crystal balls.
Yeah, he cannot pick Indiana over Kentucky.
I'm going Kentucky.
Yeah.
All right.
So we will hopefully know he's right now they're doing a ceremony.
You got it on.
Who's talking now?
Like the principal, some guy in a shirt.
I went to high school with his athletic director.
A lot of green shirts and polos right now.
But we will, when he gets up, we will let you know, Ryan.
You ready?
I'm ready.
All right.
Who's up next?
Mark Anthony is next.
Mark Anthony.
Mark Anthony.
Matthew, Randu, Shannon.
A, Matthew, if I had crystal balls, I'd sit down very carefully.
But a bad football, really.
That was actually funny.
I'll give you that.
I called you about six years ago and asked, Matt,
why are you so adamant that we can't be up there with Georgia, Alabama?
You said recruiting.
And since that time, the transfer hurdles turned into an unlimited free agency.
The NILs gone hogwobled and pig crazy.
And they've added two of the best college football schools in the country.
And so I think the next step that we were wanting to take has been taken away and hid somewhere.
Now the jump between us, Georgia and Alabama, you have to jump over a chasm.
You know, I agree with that.
I actually don't think, though, the gap is any different.
I actually think in some ways we've decreased it a little bit.
I mean, when Stoops first got here, we were getting like 35th ranked recruiting classes,
which was still better than what we were getting before him.
Then it was more like 30th.
And now it's like 20 to 25th.
So I do think the talent gap has shrunk,
and I actually think the transfer portal kind of oddly helps the secondary schools a little bit.
Because what happens, Nick Saban talked about this.
Nick Saban said when I was at Alabama,
my biggest thing was our second team could beat a lot of first teams.
He's like, now our second team goes in transfers.
I actually think it's caused these teams.
to have a little bit less depth than they used to have.
Okay, it's a hopeful sign.
It's a hopeful sign.
And the fact that we're going to 12-team playoff, maybe 16, who knows,
that brings it closer to us.
But we're standing on the 7-8 win step.
I agree.
And I'm not, that's obviously what I believe.
But I do think the gap, I don't think the transfer portal has made the gap wider.
I actually think it's made it slightly smaller
because, you know, we went and got
perfect example, the Johnson kid.
If he goes, if we don't have the portal,
he goes back to Georgia in as a backup,
now he gets to come play for us.
We wouldn't have had a guy like that before.
Well, it was all good.
And I thought when you told me that six years ago,
I thought, yeah, but Stoopsie's got something going
and maybe at some point there'll be a breakover point
where all of a sudden Kentucky's on these guys list,
these four and five-star guys list.
And I don't know that that's it.
Well, I appreciate the call.
Well, he's got some.
I mean, he's, you know, they, the kid that transferred to Douglas, one of the high-ranked
defensive end.
I mean, they have gotten some.
I don't think the gaps change significantly, but I actually think it's a little bit
smaller, oddly.
On the portal thing you mentioned Dumas Johnson, but you also have Ohio State's running back,
Chip Trainham, who is going to be a backup.
We have Brock Vandergriff.
We took a safety from Alabama.
You have DJ Waller from Michigan.
There's a lot of transfers that were backups at big schools that are going to be making plays
for Kentucky.
Without the portal, think about our course.
quarterback situation. I mean, the portal allows you to miss on high school quarterbacks and still be good.
You know, you go back a few years. If you go get Drew Barker and he doesn't become Drew Barker,
you're kind of like, what are you going to do? Now you can go get somebody and play. And we've been,
you know, going back to Terry Wilson, Levis, you know, Leary and Van de Grey. I mean, Leary wasn't
great, but he's better than what we would have had otherwise, you know. So I do think.
Ravens right now. Yeah, so I do think it's generally been good to it.
But show what you're up against. We're so excited to have Dionne Walker as a first team
All-American. I was writing that post yesterday. 13 of the 26 players are SEC, and it was like
Georgia quarterback, Georgia Guard, Georgia tackle, Georgia Center. So we're excited about our
one, but there's a lot of talent. So it's a long way to go. When the portal started,
I thought teams like Alabama and Georgia were going to come steal our best guys.
Yeah. That hasn't happened. That hasn't happened. I thought Dion Walker
and Barry M. Browns of the world would leave.
And that hasn't happened.
They've stayed.
And so I've been pleasantly surprised by that.
What's our update?
Nothing yet.
Must still be talking.

What's up, guys?
This is Clivert Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, Rhett, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Hey, Ms. Parker.

Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover,
and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash
and hormonal crying jag at a time.
You ladies know what I mean.
I'll bet you a paramedapausal chin here you do.
So let's talk about it.
Join me on my new podcast.
How hard can it be with the Anamereva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS.
All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like, what the hell is that?
I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that mess was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Wait, what sex?
Dating at 45.
How high can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy?
That one's kind of hard.
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter,
and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask,
How Hard Can It Be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.

American soccer is about to explode.
The World Cup is coming.
sending on to Ernie Stewart the chip.
I'm Tad Ramos.
I'm Tom Boe.
On our podcast, Inside American Soccer,
you'll get the real storylines.
I'm not worried about Policic.
I'm not worried about Balagan.
I'm not worried about McKinney.
My only concern is what happens in the back.
The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers,
he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise
if our team ends up in the quarterfinals
or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
The World Cup is almost here.

Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio.
We are moments away from the Malachi Moreno decision.
I thought it was going to happen during the break, and it did not.
But Ryan is on the phone.
Shaded, how would you describe Ryan right now?
Ryan has one, I guess he's got the phone up to one ear and then his other finger stuck in his other ear
trying to block out us.
Any updates?
Is he telling you anything?
He's bringing his teammates up.
Okay, but he's bringing his teammates up.
All right.
Well, I'm not just going to sit here and look at you.
You just come in and interrupt as soon as you here, okay?
859-280-2287.
Couple quick things while we're waiting.
If you have a kid or someone you know that would like to work at KS Bar during the school,
school year, fall spring. We are hiring this week. So have them apply this weekend or next week.
He's Kentucky. It's Kentucky. It's Kentucky. It's Kentucky. Yeah.
Well done, Ryan. Nice reporting. Thank you to Zach, too. Yeah, a little shout out to Zach Gagan, who was
live on the scene. We had boots on the ground. Oh, I think we were the first ones to get it out there.
There's no doubt. Malacah Marino, picks.
Kentucky, number 25 ranked recruit in the class.
He says, quote, being able to wear Kentucky across my chest is exactly like Reed Shepard said,
there's nothing better.
You know, we had heard that he really, really wanted to come to Kentucky, maybe wasn't
a priority with the former staff.
Pope came in and made him a priority, and that was a huge difference, I think, for him.
Yes, and Cody, by the way, Cody Feger put the boom out four minutes ago and scooped his own
And he scooped his own guy.
Come on, Cody.
You got to let him.
I wasn't going to say that, but I was sitting here looking at the tweet the whole time.
You were waiting to get the call.
So 859-280-2020-27.
Great news here right before the weekend.
Who's up next?
Luke is up next.
Luke, go ahead, Luke.
Hey, guys, I want to say I absolutely agree with you all about Kentucky football and the expectations.
And I'm 24, so people my age and younger are just stupid and clearly have never read a book.
because it does
I mean you know you guys were talking yesterday
people just believe whatever they see on the internet
which is true but what's amazing is what's
a verifiable fact they won't look up
on the internet which is that our record
before rich Brooks
and then the five year
you know when you had Joker who was garbage
and leading into the now stoop's era
you know like the
history of Kentucky football ain't exactly
good okay it's
like we were the doormat of the SEC
and now frankly
We recruit somewhere in what, the 10, 11, 12 range, give or take, and we perform.
It's 10 or 11, 12 in the SEC.
We're more like 20 to 25 in the nation, but that's still amazing.
That's what I meant.
We used to recruit in the 50s and 60s, and now we're more like 20, and that's a huge jump.
Right.
And that's what I meant in the SEC, and we perform at what, between 6, 7, 8 most years?
So that means that we're overachieving.
I mean, so we're overachieving.
like what could people possibly want?
I don't understand it.
Like Mark Stoves and Vince Morrow and this whole staff,
they have overachees in their time,
and I'm so grateful that we have them.
And look, I agree.
I am worried about the day to eat.
I guess I agree.
I totally agree with you.
I appreciate the call.
I mean,
I'm worried about when Stoops leaves.
I'm worried about when Vince leaves,
but they're here.
Here's what Kentucky reminds what you want Kentucky to be.
Billy's a Tampa Bay devil race fan.
They don't have
nearly the budget that the Dodgers have, the Yankees have,
but if you look at their success, am I right over the last 12 or 15 years,
compared to what their salary is, it's insane.
Like they consistently win at a higher level than they should.
Ryan, I think that is what we have to continue to hope happens here.
We've all said on this show many times.
Stoops and Vince are doing things we never thought possible at this program.
With the wins, with the recruiting, to out-recruit Ohio State,
and out recruit Alabama and out recruit Michigan for a kid.
I never, ever thought that would happen at Kentucky,
and they've proved me wrong every year.
You want to win those games of those tier opponents.
Now, South Carolina stole two of us because of unique circumstances recently,
but we had a stronghold on them.
Well, they went six or seven or O against Missouri.
I mean, he still worked to do against Tennessee.
They've been beating Florida regularly here recently.
I know there's still a little room to grow,
but those things alone, I think, are huge wins
and something that we hadn't seen before.
Yes, you're exactly right.
Who's next?
Bob is up next.
Bob, go ahead, Bob.
Matt, this is Bob and James Town,
and I just want to put misunderstanding
that that was not my call on the unpopular
second hour on Wednesday.
People were blaming you.
That was not you, and I think that's,
I've noticed online that you took some strays for that call from unpopular
opinion.
You have plenty of unpopular opinions yourself,
so we won't give you one that was not yours.
Well, anyway,
I'm a cow's my friend.
And I could say that was totally off the wall.
Calipari's your friend?
Yeah.
What do you mean he's your friend?
Bob was his only caller on Monday night.
Bobby, how do you know Cal?
Oh, that's right.
You would call a show.
That's right.
Man, I talk to him every week on the phone.
Yeah, but not like for years.
But you're saying.
Bob, you're saying that I could talk to him on the phone.
You called into his show.
We're tied by Matt.
Any of a minute.
Okay.
Fair enough. I appreciate the call. A couple things I want to say real quick. Yesterday when the show was over, there were a bunch of people at the bar. One of them was a couple, and a woman was there who just got a positive. I don't know if she wants me say her name, so I won't. But she got a positive report. She'd been fighting brain cancer for three years. It just was given a clean report, and they'd come to the bar to kind of celebrate.
that was awesome.
I mean, again, I have to say you, the amount, you know, the amount of that stuff,
Ryan and I've talked about, the amount of that kind of stuff we hear, and I never take it for granted.
But the amount of that stuff we hear is really a lot, and it's, and it really is awesome and makes us,
I appreciate when people share it, but it also reminds me, everybody's going through something,
you know, everybody's going through something.
If you saw this woman, you would have never imagined that she was going through that,
and she was.
And so congrats to her.
That was great news yesterday.
On a completely separate note, Drew and Billy and I taped our first Fade This yesterday.
Y'all to listen to it this weekend.
Podcast is on Fade This.
I actually think I went back and listened to some of it on my drive last night.
We are ridiculous when we get on to that.
I think it was one of our better ones.
We even talked about football.
We previewed the SEC and the Big 12.
We're doing all the conference previews.
But also, even if you've never tried it,
Go subscribe to it.
Draf King, really I heart, is considering, like, putting it on a national scale.
And I think if we got a lot of subscribers, that would help us do it.
So if you, even if you don't like it, just go and subscribe to it, fade this.
I bet you'll like it.
It's like the old school, Drew, when we were doing podcasts in a basement.
That's kind of how it is.
We get very distracted.
Like I said, I think there was more football talk yesterday than usual, but also reviews of Book of Mormon.
all kinds of off the grid things.
So check it out.
Who's next?
Retired ref is next.
I didn't do this.
I didn't.
You've been holding it for a while.
I've been holding it for a while.
Okay, go ahead.
Well, you know, I've been talking football and Stoops' error.
When you go back to his beginning, you look at the line, the linemen themselves,
and who is probably averaging 280, 290.
That's true.
Compared to what it, what,
it is now. I mean, we've got some
horses playing
up front. And
of course,
I've been through, I can't remember
how many years of waiting for
Kentucky to beat Florida,
and they finally did it. So
saying that, I mean,
getting into the playoffs of the
new system,
it's coming.
Yeah, Brian, I appreciate the call.
I do think that's where you see the biggest difference.
I mean, you can go through Kentucky history. We've had
skill,
players that would be really good.
Tim Couch, Andre Woodson, Randall Cobb, etc.
But the way we've been able to put linebackers, linemen, and offensive linemen, and not
just have them, have them in the NFL.
We had a year where we had like four straight years of guys drafted in the NFL in the
offensive line.
That had, I mean, we had almost no offensive linemen in the NFL.
That has really been a big change.
And I know one thing that Freddie always talks about, a lot of these are Kentucky kids.
You know, Eli Cox, Jagger Burton, Tanner Ray, three Kentucky kids that,
are going to play a lot on the offensive line.
We just had Landon Young, Drake Jackson,
some of these local kids, all big, big dudes that are now just on the team.
They're starters on the team.
859-280-2287.
So with Malachi Moreno, Drew, do you take a deep breath and go, okay.
That's kind of Pope's first high school recruit that he had no connection with at
BYU that's a top guy that he got.
That's good to see.
Yes.
I mean, that's a blue chip recruit, kept him home.
It's really the first recruiting cycle.
I'm not judging much on what Pope did in a month in May for this current team.
But he's one for one, made up a lot of ground with Jasper Johnson with two weeks to go.
As I said, this Braylon Mullins kid, I think today's going to go a long way for him,
because I haven't played AAU with Marino.
I think he's off to a great start with this next class.
I do too.

but it's always cool to be in Louisville and see this many Kentucky fans.
