Guess what is coming in this place at 11 o'clock?
Corey Price?
I don't know.
I don't know what's coming in.
Corey Price.
Why was that your guess?
I mean, I like Corey Price, but did you think when I thought it was going to say there was a very special thing happening at the bar today that it was going to be Corey Price was coming?
Or Andy, Casey Hayfellers?
But none of those would be, I mean, they're here a lot.
I have no idea what's coming in today.
Drew, do you think, again, no offense to Corey Price.
Does he think I'm leading the show with, hey, folks, Corey Price is eating lunch today?
I love Corey Price, but you have an enthusiasm and you're leading the show with this.
So I don't know what it is either, but I think it's something bigger than Corey Price.
When Corey Price comes, I'll make it a big deal.
Don't get me wrong.
No, we're going to have a horse in here.
No, you're not.
Yes, there's going to be a horse.
A live horse?
A live horse.
Oh, yes.
This is awesome.
A real big horse.
A horse.
Well, I mean, I didn't ask.
Put an essay on that.
Finish the word.
Yeah, you got to learn.
You got to enunciate.
Horse.
Okay.
Yeah, it's going to come in here.
I don't know the size.
I didn't ask the height and weight.
But the new soccer team is Lexington Sporting?
The sporting club.
Lexington.
Sporting club.
And I guess their mascot is a horse.
They're bringing their horse here.
Oh, they're going to have a horse, I guess, at their games.
And so now they're going to bring the horse here for us.
I have not asked the horse's itinerary.
I know the horse.
is going to be here at 11 o'clock.
Wow.
So if you come by, let's say you've wanted to take a picture with horse.
Yes.
Or you've wanted to, like, dance with a horse.
This is your chance because they're bringing a horse here.
I think to just have us talk about Lexington Sporting Club,
but also because, you know, having a horse at a bar is not something that happens a lot.
No, it's not.
Be the first time I believe ever here at KS. Bar and we would have a live horse.
A horse walks into a bar.
Exactly. There you go. That starts the whole thing.
You're looking at a guy who's stolen a horse. Of course, I'm excited. You stole a pony.
This is a mini horse. This I think is a full horse.
So, you know, Wings Day.
You went to sit there and think about lunch.
You probably like, I'd like to go where the horse goes.
Now, I don't know. You know, when I told my manager that we're bringing a horse,
I don't know that she was like, that sounds great.
Love to have a horse in here.
So we may like keep it on the patio or,
I don't know what's going to happen with this horse.
I'm not clear about the horse details,
but I do know that the big picture is
Corey Price will eat lunch
and there will be a horse at the bar.
That's so exciting. Ryan set the bar so low
with Corey Price. Again, love you, Corey.
And then you come back on top of that
and tell me there's going to be a live animal in here.
You know, Ryan has a tendency when I go guess something
that he always guesses such a crazy.
Like yesterday.
I thought 640 was.
And 640 was going to be a huge number of people making $100,000.
And Ryan comes and guesses $30,000 and it doesn't seem as big.
That's a week after his gold medal guest, too.
Yeah.
That's true.
So it's nice to see finally he did underguess the horse.
So we're going to have a horse here.
That's number one.
What a show already.
Number two, I want to remind people, when you come in here during this week,
we have a special from Monday to Sunday with the Nile beer.
You need to sign up for the beer for a year.
Yes.
That little iPad, when you walk in here, there's an iPad.
All you got to do is walk in, put your name in, register for beer for a year.
Somebody's going to win beer for a year.
We've had a lot of people here the first two days drinking the beer, but they forget to sign up.
So if you don't sign up, what are you going to do?
You can't win beer for a year, Shannon, unless people know you've signed up.
That's right.
Yeah.
How are you supposed to know your name?
How am I supposed to give you beer for a year?
I want to.
I want you to have a year of beer.
Maybe they'll deliver it on a horse.
But you have to actually sign up.
So just to be clear, when you come in here, sign up on the little ice easy.
It's right there.
Put your name in your email and then you can win the beer.
Third thing, today I start by a fourth year of teaching college at George Sten-Dollars.
Today the first class?
Today is the first class.
Do you have your syllabus?
No, not totally ready.
You know, I've been gone.
And then I sat down to do the syllabus yesterday, and I realized that the computer it was on, I've given away.
Oh.
So I've got to start.
There's clouds, but I don't know how to get that.
And so I'm going to have to, so I started writing it, but it's not done.
I'm going to email them the syllabus.
But yes, we will do our thing today and excited about it.
Fourth year of helping mold young people's minds towards the law.
So what will today's first class consist of with no syllabus to go over?
I learned this after the first year.
You'd be surprised how little people know about the basics of government.
I don't say this to be mean, but like when I say there are federal and state courts, a lot of people are blown away.
No, I'm, well, you probably be one of them.
That's very true.
The difference between federal and state courts and the appeal system and like a lot of people don't know the difference between the Constitution and regular law.
Like literally the basic structure of American government and law, I would say 80% of America does.
doesn't know. That's why I always think it's funny when people opine on things that like,
I'm like, you don't know anything about that. So what I try to do on the first day is just say,
I'm going to give you the basics. And I always like the first day because they know they don't
know it. And it's like things they've heard in their life click for them. Oh, that's what it means
when they say appeal, right? Yeah. Because a lot of people don't, I mean, if you don't grow up
in it or you might not know honestly.
So that's what I usually do on the first day is like the most basic.
This is how the legal system is set up.
You know how many people in your class?
You know, it's usually somewhere between like 12 and 20.
Usually 12 to 20.
It's usually something like that.
I'm sure I already know the answer to this.
But do you have like a professor outfit or are you just, are you bad?
Okay.
I didn't know if you have like a sweater.
I'm wearing pants.
Okay.
I'm wearing jeans.
I have a pullover.
and I wore my Philly dunks, which are one of the nicer pairs of shoes.
And so that's what I'm doing.
I would not expect anything less for your first day of school to be dressed like that.
Perfect.
Yeah.
So I'm looking forward to getting back into the classroom.
I know you enjoy that.
I do enjoy it.
It's so different.
You don't want to sit there.
That's where the horse comes by.
You might want to sit over there.
Or Corey Price.
Either one of them might.
That table is kind of like we're leaving it for like horse movement.
Not that kind of movement, but like horse, you know, be able to walk in in case it comes.
If there is a horse movement, who's on that duty?
You.
I want to have a Kentucky blue light with the horse.
If you want to, I feel like that's probably okay.
So anyway, going to do that.
Very cool.
All right, so I think the big news in UK sports, the basketball schedule.
Yes.
You, we already knew the teams, but now we get the order.
you know, we get to see when the games are.
They split.
We have five Saturday home, five Saturday road.
Because the conference schedule starts so early this year because it starts like right at,
I think January, let's see, fourth, usually it starts like the eight.
So because it starts early, you have 10 Saturdays, whereas normally you have nine.
And that means five home, five away Saturdays.
Looking at it, my big takeaway is the conference starts.
easy and gets hard.
That's usually the case for Kentucky.
They usually try to finish with the hardest games.
February is usually tough.
Oddly, though, that last Saturday, they always tried to give us a marquee game.
And this year, it's at Missouri, which is not a marquee game.
So that was a weird ending for me this year.
I wrote about this yesterday.
We've always had Florida at the end of the year.
Not the last one.
The second last one, we open with Florida.
And if my math is correct, I checked the books.
This is the first season since 1968.
We only play Florida once.
We've played them twice.
every year for over 50 years.
So we play Florida in the very first SEC game,
and then we don't play them again.
We've only played them four times in January
in like the last 15 years, and two of them were last year.
So that game was traditionally at the end of the schedule,
and we're opening with them for a second straight year.
We're open with them at home, and then we don't play them again.
We play Vandy, Tennessee, and Alabama twice,
which, you know, Tennessee and Alabama, tough draws,
Vandy not so tough a draw,
but Vandy, Tennessee and Alabama, they clearly gave us Alabama
because they, you know, they think they're going to be the marquee team.
Let me just tell you how we start the conference schedule.
though because I think it's like a chance to go on a run.
Yeah.
Florida at home, at Georgia, at Mississippi State, A&M at home, and then Alabama.
So, I mean, you're going to be favored probably at all four of those games.
And, Ryan, you have a chance to really get started on the SEC with a run.
Then you have a very tough run.
Alabama at home, Vandy, at Tennessee, Arkansas at home.
So then the next four are tough.
So you've got to come out of the gate in the SEC, Ryan.
I think you've got to come out in the gate, honestly, four and oh.
Yeah, that stretch right.
there you're talking about, you know, I think A&M's going to be really good this year too.
So you got A&M, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, four out of the five games out there are going to be high-profile
tough game. That's a good stretch.
And then you get to that Arkansas game is sandwiched between trips to Old Miss and Tennessee.
And Tennessee.
Old Miss, not historically a great program, but they're going to be better and that'll be a good atmosphere.
So that's a tough three-game run shortly after hosting Alabama.
So it's a hard schedule.
I mean, you know, normally I look at it and say loseable games.
You know, I think there's a lot of loseable games.
I don't think any game on here except maybe at Alabama,
do you look at and go, well, we can't go win that game.
And even at Alabama, I think we can win.
But it is a, you know, it's a tough conference schedule.
But the thing that I saw, to me, it oddly begins and ends easier than it usually does.
Begins with that Florida at Georgia at Mississippi State.
I think Georgia and Mississippi State are both not supposed to be good, right?
Well, you got the dentist at Mississippi.
State, but other than that, yeah, I don't think he likes to play 40 to 40 games.
And then you end the season with LSU at home and at Missouri, which is a weird ending.
Usually we don't end with teams like that.
Yeah, historically, the last week of the season, Kentucky plays high profile game.
It's been, I bet it's been Florida or Tennessee 19 to the last 20 years in that last game.
And this year, it's just not.
So you start easy and end easy, but February is pretty rough, not just that three game stretch we saw, but they have three road trips in 11 days.
Two of those are Texas and Oklahoma.
I know, you know, it's not that hard to travel,
but I found it odd that they put those so close together.
Yeah, they do go a run of at Texas,
Vandy at home, at Bama, at Oklahoma.
That's tough, just being on the road three of those four games,
and usually you're going to drop one of those,
maybe not play will when you're on the road like that.
And then we've talked about the non-conference,
but that kind of got finalized while I was gone.
So, you know, you start the season with Wright State and Bucknell
should win those. Then you got Duke.
Then you got Lipscomb, Jackson State, Western Georgia State.
So they did give themselves a chance to, like, have a good run, Drew, to start the season.
Yeah, I mean, they should win all of those outside of the Duke game, which I'm still hopeful they'll win.
The one I think people aren't giving enough credit for.
They were disappointed in that Clemson game.
But Clemson was in the Elite 8 last year.
They hit the portal well.
That's a tough place that we've been to.
Yeah, I know everybody.
wanted UNC or Duke or a bigger name, but that's going to be a hard opponent that we shouldn't
overlook. There's a very good chance we will not be favored in that game. Yeah. I know people think,
oh, well, that's nothing. That's on the road at Clemson. That's going to be a hard game.
Four days before you go to Seattle, so that's a tough little stretch. One thing on the SEC schedule
that's unique that I wanted to add, when's the last time we played at Vandy on a Saturday?
I mean, Kentucky fans already take over Vandy on a Tuesday night, but you can get a little weekend out of
playing at Vandy this year.
I forgot.
Yeah, that doesn't happen a lot.
Very really.
It's usually 9 o'clock.
It's usually on Tuesday or Wednesday.
So yeah, we will be able to take over Nashville if we want to.
So 859-28027.
We're going to be here.
A horse is going to be here in the second hour.
I can't believe it.
It should be a lot of excitement.
And it's a beautiful Wednesday.
It's Wingsday.

Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

Welcome back. Kentucky Sports Radio.
859-280-2287.
One person writes, how many of the four of you have ever ridden a horse?
I have.
I have.
I have during the show.
That's right.
You did.
I remember that.
Down in what?
McCreary County.
Is that right?
I'm trying to remember.
We were in a library.
Yeah.
That was McCree County.
That was a horse.
You wrote a horse in a music video.
I wrote a horse in a Laura Bell Bundy music video.
I was the, I was her.
I don't know if it was a romantic interest,
but I was the guy she was out on the farm with.
You lifted a cooler.
I lifted a cooler.
Lifted with your legs.
The farm farm hand, I think.
I was.
I was kind of the cowboy.
You know, it worked out.
I started training last night just to be able to attend Keenland this fall,
trying to try to get in there in a race.
You know, by the way, we're going to add another county to our list.
I think this is going to be like number 92 of counties that we've done a show in.
We're going to be in Leslie County for the Tim Couch statue unveiling.
Very cool.
Very cool.
That's in September.
So they're honoring Tim Couch with a statue.
Nice.
We're going to do the show.
And Leslie County will add up with.
That's going to mean we've been almost in every eastern Kentucky County.
And that will be coming up here soon.
I don't think I've ever been in Leslie County ever.
You never been to Hidon?
I don't think so.
Well, we're going to listen to one night.
I've spent a week inside a little, no, that's a different one.
Trip to Hidden.
That's a Tom T. Hall.
Well, you take me, I want to see that monument to the miners, too.
You're talking about the monument to the coal mine explosion.
I mean, I'll take you if you want to go, but it's like, it's, it's up in the hills.
It's not like just down close to the city.
I will say, if you love Kentucky, especially if you feel any connection to coal miners and coal,
that memorial is a very powerful thing up in the, it's up in the hills of Leslie County.
I know you wrote about it in your book
I wrote about my book
But you talked about it
And that's what made me always one of
Yes
No it's very it is a
It is definitely a powerful thing
We found out the Southern Miss
Our first football game
We found out the announcing crew
Game is at 745
Be on the SEC Network
So we get Tom Hart
Cole Kublich and Jordan Rogers
For our first game
Perfect way to kick off the season
With those three guys
Especially since Tom Hart's kind of one of us
Absolutely love that
That they got the first game
Yeah this came out
Yesterday is big news, but Tom told us early in the summer, like, hey, get ready.
I'm coming that first weekend, make room for me at KS Bar, so we'll be excited to see him after
talking to him all summer.
Be nice to have him in town.
I love that announcing crew.
I think that's as good an announcing crew as we get because they all three know our team.
You know, there's nothing worse than watching a game where you know your team better than the people
announcing it, which happens, unfortunately, most of the time.
For whatever you want to say about Jimmy Dykes, he always knows our team when he does
it. And the same thing about those guys. They always know the team, Ryan, when they come,
which I think makes them good to listen to. Yeah, Colcubic on the sideline is the best in the SEC
doing stuff like that because he knows the ins and outs like what our offensive linemen are doing
or defensive linemen. I love it. And you can't get any better than Tom and Jordan in the booth,
except for, except when they pass gas that story. You mean, I think you were gone that week last year.
Yeah, I know what you're talking about. Yeah. They said apparently it's, they blow up the
broadcast food. Well, that's nice. I'm glad you told me that.
Should we go to dinner with them before?
We're 1 and O as a football program.
That's true.
We've been to dinner with them and that was when we beat LSU.
So I think it would be good to do it.
So Southern Miss, by the way, I looked at the rankings of all the Division I teams.
They're like the eighth or ninth worst team in the all of Division I.
They're, I mean, probably Murray is going to be the worst team we play,
but they're going to be the worst team that we play from the major conferences.
And you think of Southern Miss, you think of all those years,
were pretty good.
One of the guys that's in my dork camp, he is a Southern Miss booster.
And I think he's actually coming to the game.
But they're going to be bad.
Yeah, what was that?
Seven or eight years ago when they actually beat Kentucky, kind of ruined the excitement of that season.
Kentucky went down there and played them close.
But if you can put that aside, as you're saying, this team's not very good.
Draft Kings has, it's like a 26 point spread.
Yeah, 26 points a lot for the first game.
So hopefully it won't be that bad.
59-2-80-2287.
Who's up next, Shannon?
We'll start with Ryan.
Ryan, go ahead, Ryan.
Hey, Matt, I got two quick things.
First thing is I've found a diet Coke to rival McDonald's.
No, you did.
Consistency.
You don't have to lie.
There's no Diet Coke that rivals McDonald's.
I'll listen to what you're going to say, but you're going to be wrong.
I don't know what they're cooking it up with in there, but the one at the Big Dipper in
Oldsboro is pretty powerful.
What do you mean the big?
Is that like a gas station?
Ice cream place.
No, it's not.
Yeah, it's like a burger place.
And it's a legit diet.
So you're claiming that the big dipper burger place in Owensboro has better Diet Coke than McDonald's.
I mean, that is a strong point.
I'm not saying better.
I'm not saying it's running right there with it.
I don't know.
The big dip is my favorite place is in the state, but I don't know if it's got the Diet Coke to beat McDonald's.
All right.
I'll tell you what, I mean, we'll be in Owensboro at some point.
Somebody remind me before I go and I'll give it to the state.
Diet Coke taste test. There's a TikTok video that's like floating around like now of a woman
and they give her straws and they've got seven different Diet Coke and she is able to decide
that's McDonald's, that's a Mexican restaurant, that's a can. And first of all, a bunch of people
have sent it to me. I think Mario was one of them. I could do that easily. Yeah, you could pick out
the Diet Coke. I could pick, I could tell you where a Diet Coke is from just by the
taste and so yes i will try the big dipper one sir all right now my second thing is now the deal about
that horse coming in today horses are very uh very susceptible to high-pitched nos noises
you know i just you you don't want to spook the horse the horse is going to be fine i appreciate
the call i don't have a nose whistle and uh the horses the horse would be fine either way
regardless of it we're uh we'll keep it
eye on the horse. Are you going to let it actually come in and kind of walk around? Or what's it going to
I don't know. I have no, just for a second. I have no idea who this guy is right here. All right, but I'm
going to make a guess. I'm just looking at you. He's wearing a Lexington thing. You are a coach
for one of the teams. He's the coach of the women's team. I could tell by looking at him. He had
with the tight shirt. I could tell you were the coach. You're the coach of the women's team. And what's your
name? Mike Dickey. I'll talk to you during the break here.
Call him. Coach. Thank you very much. Excuse me. Coach Dickey. Thank you very much for being here.
Couldn't you? I could tell by looking at him that that was a coach of one of the things.
It's a compliment. Like he's got the joggers on, kind of the European style. Yeah, very European.
You can tell when he walked in. Very demure. Like, he's, he looks very, very classic.
You've been saying demure a lot lately. You know, you catch it. I'm very happy. Let me tell you what I'm happy about.
Because of TikTok, we are expanding people's vocabulary.
Did you because I like everybody now says that phrase and I like the fact that TikTok is making people have a better vocabulary
Do you don't even know what I'm talking about?
No, you know that's like a thing.
It's everywhere now.
It's everywhere.
Demure?
There's this woman and she's doing a video and she's like, I don't know.
I don't know.
How do you even describe it, Drew?
She's like she's a woman and she's doing a video and she says she's very classy and very demure and then people now are making their own.
own videos with her sound because she's I don't know there's no way for me to describe it's like
it's like trying to describe a joke to somebody who doesn't get it but like I saw UK put out
a video a guy walks in his classroom he's like I sit in the front I'm very demurry and I'm like
this is it's everywhere oh it's gone too far like when at some point my mom's going to know it
and then it will like then it probably's over but like I was impressed I mean when I said it
Mario was impressed I knew what it was I've heard you say it twice this week you're
us young. That's as many as I can. That's as many as I can do. A.59-2-80-2287. It is Wings Day,
dollar wings. Let me ask you a quick, real quick thing about the basketball schedule.
Arkansas Saturday, February 1st, wildest day in Lexington since when?
Since Petino and Louisville came into Rup Arena. It'll be massive.
Do you really think, like, do you think it is the wildest day Lexington will have since then?
Yep. I mean, that's 20 years ago. Yep. I agree. Yep. Wow. It's a great place for it.
the schedule. It's going to be awesome, too. Right in February, right at first day with no pro football is that
Saturday. We'll be right back. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet

T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J., he'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky
Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. I heard a really interesting story
about Tom T. Hall. You want to hear an interesting story? Yes. So Tom T. Hall was writing
songs in Nashville. People don't know, some of the younger people, he's a country singer.
in the Hall of Fame wrote a ton of songs that you know that you may not have known he wrote
because he wrote for somebody else, right?
Boy named Sue, for instance, he wrote with Shell Silverstein.
So anyway, he was writing songs for Johnny Paycheck.
And, like, he was writing all these songs, and they were going as hits,
and he was like, I want to write songs for myself.
And he tried to write songs, and none of them were good.
And then all of a sudden Johnny Paycheck apparently said to him,
well, write about something that's happened to you.
You write all these good stories about stuff that's happened to other people and sell them.
writes about what's happened to you.
So he said, well, and so Johnny Paycheck goes, what's ever happened to you in your life?
And he goes, well, one time I got arrested in Paintsville and spent a night in a week in a country jail.
And they go, and Johnny Paycheck goes, there you go.
There's your song.
Write a song about how you got arrested and Paintsful and spent a week in the country jail.
And he did.
It was his first hit for himself called One Night I Spent a Week Inside a Live,
little country jail.
And what I learned is that it not only is a great song, it's true, and it's about
painful.
And I guess because he got arrested, the judge decided to go fishing for the week.
They wouldn't let him out of the jail.
His wife would bring him food, and that's the song.
And then from there on, he became a huge success.
He became friends with Johnny Cash.
He wrote songs with Johnny Cash, and he ended up having a big career.
But I did not know, Ryan, it started because he got arrested and spent a week in a jail
and painful. What a great story.
It can only happen in Kentucky. It seems like
something like that. I love that. Yes. So I
do like that. Shannon, I thought of you when I
saw this story. Have you seen the story about
the super yacht that crashed outside
of Sicily? No, I haven't seen this.
This is a wild story. All right?
So there's this rich, I mean, it's sad. There's
like six people dead. Yeah. But there were
like 25 people saved. But they
had a super yacht, a 56
meter yacht, which seems like a lot
of meters. I don't know.
That's, I guess, half of a hundred
meter race, but a 56 meter yacht, they're outside of Sicily and they get a water tornado,
which apparently only happens in the Mediterranean. It's very rare. Like all of a sudden, just out of
nowhere, there'll be a burst of wind, creates a tornado. And it flipped this super yacht.
A lot, but six people have died, including the owner of the yacht who was like, they called the
British Bill Gates. All right. So if you're trying to think what this would be like, imagine you
heard this about Bill Gates. His yacht flips, but here's the crazy part.
no other boat on the water, and apparently there were a lot of boats were affected.
It was the only thing that flipped.
It was also the biggest boat, meaning it was the one that should have withstood it the most.
And it did not.
And there are people who are boat people saying they've never in their lives ever heard of a boat this size, capsizing,
and they don't know why it is.
So there's a huge mystery about what happened with this British billionaire's yacht.
I saw a story on this, and just the water tornado apparently just right there where that boat was.
Like it didn't hit anything else but that boat.
But I guess powerful enough, strong enough to tip it over.
It's got to be pretty powerful.
Yes, it does.
And Shannon, when I heard that, I thought, just think about the Mediterranean Sea.
Right.
Think about how big it is.
Think about the fact that there are boats all in it, and it only hits this one.
Yeah.
The biggest one and flips it over.
That's kind of weird, isn't it?
I mean, I'm not saying there's anything like wrong.
Like something happened.
Yeah.
It's weird, isn't it?
It is strange.
And to flip a boat that side.
First of all, I didn't even know there was such thing as a super yacht.
So we're talking about what?
We're talking about a yacht.
300 foot long.
Well, 50 meters.
So I don't think that's probably 300.
That's probably something like that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, I mean, yeah, that's insane to even think about.
I mean, I can't imagine being on that boat.
It stinks for those people.
But it's also like you would never, you know, you're just out there.
You're on the yacht.
You're chilling.
And then next thing you know, flipped over with a tornado.
The ocean has been coming for billionaires lately.
We had the Titanic thing lately.
If I got a lot of money, I'm staying away from the ocean.
Is there a part of you, though, that it just goes to show when you have that much money,
it's like, can't just have a yacht, have to have a super yacht.
They said, don't go into this little area.
It's a little dangerous.
They go into the area.
Like, it's like these people, it's almost like when you have that much money,
they feel like they have to do something to give them the adrenaline rush, right, Ryan?
Yeah, live on the edge.
Like you ever said, get that adrenaline rush.
I feel like I could have a tenth of that money, and you'd never hear from me again.
You're certainly not going out in the ocean.
It's like I said about Elon Musk.
If I had that kind of money, I mean, I want to be off Twitter now, much less run it.
Like, if you had that kind of money, wouldn't you just be like, I'm good?
I don't even know.
I don't think I have a phone.
I would just have people around me to take care of that stuff, and you'd never hear from me again.
To be fair, I might have a yacht, but I wouldn't be one of these crazy billionaire people that want to fly into space.
space.
Oh, no.
Like, I'm not doing that.
Like, I'm good here.
Like I said, if you, the flying into space, I'm going to be like the thousandth person
that's going up.
The people who want to be the first sit, like, no way.
Are you kidding me?
It seems awful.
Who's next?
Michael.
Michael.
Go ahead, Michael.
Hey, Matt.
Third time, long time.
What's up?
I need, I need some advice.
I want to take my son to the very first Kentucky football game.
Okay.
I know.
I don't want to sound like a broken record.
and people ask us all the time.
But look, I want a full itinerary.
What do I need to do to make just the best experience ever?
Great question.
I need to go to.
First of all, do you have access to a parking spot in the tailgate lot?
No.
Okay.
So if you don't do that, then I would say, well, let's just take the first game.
What game are you going to so I know the time of day?
That's why I'm asking you.
I'll pick a game.
I'll pick a game.
Right.
Well, if any game is possible, then I would continue to say go to the South Carolina game.
I just think you know that game's going to matter.
You know it's going to be great.
So what I would do is I would get up.
I would like go on campus buy the gear, right?
Go get, go to Kentucky branded or go get the UK gear so that you get the latest stuff.
The campus bookstore has great stuff.
Kentucky branded does.
Then I would come to the bar.
I'd park my car.
I'd come in here and hang out.
I'd get here noon-ish so that you.
You can make sure you get in for the 3.30 game.
Hang out until 2-ish.
Then go get on the bus and go take the bus to the thing.
Then I'd walk around the tailgate lot a little bit.
Kind of try to experience, that'll probably be a good tailgating day.
Kind of try to experience the, you know, the scenes there at the tailgate lot.
Go to the game.
When it's over, if we win and you want to celebrate, go find a nice restaurant and try to go.
if you want to be, you know, if you want to be Ratchet, come over here and party with the people here at the game.
It gets a little rough house after it's over.
But walk the can.
I might even walk back from the game, right, to my car rather than take the bus.
Because if they win, it's going to be a fun walk of everybody celebrating the campus, all the houses around Nicholsville Road.
We'll have the students out there partying and all that.
Drew, that's what I would do. Would you add anything else to that?
Being first time, I'd try to catch the catwalk.
Yes, I like that.
Be over there for that and certainly do a full lap around the stadium to see it all if you've never been there.
Yeah, I agree. I think even though we've kind of criticized a tailgating scene,
sir, if you and your son have never been there, it will be exciting for you to walk around,
see all the fans, and kind of experience that atmosphere.
I appreciate everything you guys do, and that's why I called and ask you
because I think you guys would probably know better than anyone.
Yeah, I appreciate the call.
Now, if it's at night, a night game's a little different.
You've got to pace yourself during the day.
Maybe you try, what do you call it?
What's that sandwich shop that's so good over there?
Dads?
Over here?
Yeah, dads.
Maybe Goodfellas or something like that for some pizza for lunch.
If you're trying to pace your-
Yeah, you've got to get a good pace,
try to pace yourself for the night game.
The one thing I would add, especially he said he's taking his son,
And after the game, when the players walk off the field, they kind of go through a tunnel to the facility.
And they often hand out their wristbands and their gloves and stuff.
That's kind of cool.
Over by there by the statues, that's a good area to go.
I think that's very underrated.
I'm glad you said that.
If you have a kid, if they win the game going to that walk where they walk from the game back to the locker room
and when that's over, walk from the locker room back to their families,
if you have a kid, the players will be so nice to the, to you.
your kids. And I don't think people know to do that a lot, especially if it's a night game because
they like seem to appreciate people who stick around, Ryan. If you want to meet a player,
that's probably the best way to do it. It is the best. And the fans are really good about letting
the kids kind of get up to the front or on the edge of the tunnel there so they can kind of get
a high five or just anything like that. Man, they love doing the stuff like that. Hey,
Shannon, you hungry for some college football? Oh, so hungry. Well, what about this weekend? There's a game.
Florida State and Georgia Tech from Ireland.
That's not the best.
Not bad.
So jump in at Drafking's Sportsbook.
It's a big matchup, and you can get in on it.
And all newbies getting into the college spirit, guess what?
We now have a new offer.
What is it?
Bet five get $200.
Oh, two hundred.
Two hundred.
That's right.
To get you ready for Ireland, what's your favorite Irish thing?
Beer.
Okay.
What kind?
Heineken.
It's only one you know, isn't it?
Yes.
That's only one I know.
Is it Irish?
Yeah.
Is it really?
I don't think it is.
I don't think Hanukin is Irish.
My bad.
I thought it was.
Did you just think because it was a different kind of group of letters?
It must be Irish.
I did think it was an Ireland beer.
What is?
Guinness is an Irish beer.
Guinness.
That's it.
Do you like Guinness?
Yes.
Let me give you a little hint.
What about you?
What's your favorite, Shandon?
Irish.
thing?
Pubs?
When I was in Dublin,
like it's not an exaggeration to say there's a pub on every corner.
Like that's not a stereotype that isn't true.
Like they are everywhere.
And they're all small and kind of like they're nice.
It's like movies.
Like you walk in and the guy sitting next to you is 300 years old.
And you just assume he's been there every day and you have a beer with him.
You dance a little bit.
That's true.
I love the vibe.
Yeah, there's no.
That's exactly right.
bartenders in Ireland come with the place.
Oh, yeah.
They've been there from the beginning.
I have a video of Abby dancing with a guy.
He has to be 400 years old to some Irish folk song, and it's like we went back in time.
And they actually do.
They play Irish songs.
Like, they don't just play, like, when I was in the other countries in Europe, they just are playing Sabrina Carpenter in their country.
In Ireland, you're going to hear Irish music.
Very cool.
So, anyway, draft kings.
Bet five, get $200 from draft kings.
use my code KSR to do it now.
Draft Kings is your chance, and the first game is this weekend.
I'm sure I'm going to be in on it.
You need two to.
It's Draf Kings, the crown is yours.
If you have a game pro quo, 180 plus Kentucky,
only bonus pets expire, 168 hours after inches, deposit,
and LGBT strict supply due to terms of dkNG.c-o slash FT ball.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
Horse will be here in 15 minutes.
This is KSR.

Welcome back.
This is Ed Shearin, Shannon.
Little Ireland, Ireland fact.
There's a street in Ireland.
I don't know what it's called.
It's called, like, Ireland Street.
And it's right there in Dublin.
And I guess it's where Ed Shearin was discovered.
Like, he was singing on the street.
And he was like,
uh, be da, ba-ba.
Bittaboo-a-boo-de-boo.
And he was singing.
And, like, somebody was like, man, this guy's good.
And next thing you know, he becomes a star.
So it's become this thing that, like,
all the people in England and Ireland that want to get discovered,
they like go to that street.
Wow.
So when you walk down the street, there's all kinds of like street musicians,
which normally would just be a guy.
But on that street, you have to get a pass to do it.
And they rotate times.
And so the street performers, there's like 10 of them,
but they have to, like, you know, one guy goes 10 to 11.
And then they're like, get out.
She comes 11 to 12.
And I guess they hope they'll follow Ed Sheeraner and be.
But like you walk down and these people are good.
This isn't just a guy like a hobo with a guitar.
These are like people that can sing and they're just performing for free.
They get huge crowds and it's all because Shannon, Ed Shearin, was discovered on one of these streets.
Sounds like it's Ireland's version of like Broadway in Nashville.
It is, but imagine they were out on the street and like sanctioned.
Like it's not just a guy with a guitar.
Like you, they're just standing in front of a bookstore, but they're singing and it's really good singers, Drew.
It's kind of a unique thing.
I don't know that I've ever seen that anywhere else.
Yeah, sounds like they're kind of controlling.
If we get too crowded, you've got to earn your spot just to be on the street
to potentially earn your spot as Ed Shearin.
Yes.
One person writes, Matt, my wife and I are going on a cruise coming up.
Do you all recommend cruises with your wives?
Well, I do not have a wife, so I'm not sure that I'm the person to particular.
We've been on a cruise before to Alaska.
Had fun.
Are you pro or anti-crues?
I am definitely pro-crues.
I love it.
love going to the different ports, even for a day trip at Cozumel or wherever it stops at,
I love it. So I am definitely pro-crues.
I'm a pro-crues, but I have to add the caveat that I have to be a little bougie.
The videos of these cruises I've seen recently, I want no part of it.
I want one that's a little more peaceful and got some room.
But I would do a nice cruise.
You're not going to catch me on Carnival.
I'm anti-cruz.
Pretty much universally.
I enjoyed our cruise with you because it was a limited number of people.
It was nice.
We went to Alaska.
But I'm with you.
I see these videos of like buffets with kids snotting all over them and like people dancing and it's sweaty and it's all you can eat and drink.
And then they throw you out at a port and everybody runs to the trinket store.
That to me seems like hell on earth, to be quite frank with you.
So I would only go on a cruise if it was really nice.
And that may be like, that may be bougie, but that's just a fact for me.
Yeah, I've seen some.
They'll show the pool.
and you can barely see the water.
There's so many people in the pool.
I want no part of that.
It looks like Caddy Day on Caddyshack when they just throw and like everybody just jumps in and does like I'm just, I'm not doing that.
I did enjoy ours though.
I would run that back.
Great memories of our Alaskan cruise trip.
You guys dressed up like the village people and same way.
A woman thought she was my wife there for a while.
I mean the woman would sing sensuously to Drew.
Walk away Joe.
And like try to seduce him that work.
One more thing about Ireland since we're talking about all this.
Love Ireland.
Keep going.
This is something that everyone that may go to Ireland needs to remember.
I know that we call in America that drink an Irish car bomb.
Do not say that.
Do not say that.
I saw an American say it, and they kicked them out of the bar.
Do not say that.
We caught an Irish car bomb, but they actually had car bombs.
You know, they had, like, thousands of car bombs,
and most people there know someone that died.
So, like, don't go in.
order ever an Irish car bomb.
They genuinely, I watched it happen.
They genuinely will get angry.
I can tell you from firsthand experience, because that's maybe my favorite drink,
and I ordered one, and they did a quick, uh-uh.
So I was like, everyone, sorry, sorry, never mind.
Do not.
What do you call it?
You just don't.
You just don't order it.
You do not order a car, but just do not drink it.
What's that big bar is the temple bar?
Yes.
I got one there, and I knew immediately that was a mistake.
I had to apologize.
That's not a thing.
I mean, it would be, I'm not trying to be insensitive, but it would be like ordering like a 9-11 drink in New York.
That's the way they, that's the way they look at it.
So like, don't do that.
Who's next?
Let's go to Clay.
Clay, go ahead, Clay.
What's up, Matt?
I've got a question for you and then an interesting fact that goes along with the question.
I was talking with some friends of mine.
And we were, if not trying to count my chickens before they hatch, if we get Jasper Johnson,
He's a consensus five-star.
How many consensus five-star recruits do you think Mark Pope gets in his first class?
In his first class?
This one coming up?
Yes.
Yes, and this class coming.
One.
I think it would be, because consensus five stars, you're only talking about what, Drew, 15 guys maybe, 12, 15 guys are consensus five stars.
I think if we're just being honest, it's very likely the only one this time would be Jasper Johnson.
and I know they're in on one or two other guys,
but I would guess, Drew, it'll be one, and it would be him.
I mean, Malachi Marino's top 25,
he could potentially play his way up that high,
but he's not that right now.
I would say one.
Okay, so to go along with that,
how many consensus five stars do you think Dan Hurley has had it,
Yukon, in his three classes surrounding?
I don't think he's had any,
but I also think, though,
while that's true, Dan Hurley has shown an ability to develop four-star kids into top-10
draft picks. I think he's had three of them. Now, can Mark Pope do that? I sure hope so. I don't
see why he can't, but he hasn't done it yet. So it's kind of like when it's, I used to argue this
with Cal. You don't have to have the top recruiting class to win, but it gives you more margin of error.
could Mark Pope become Dan Hurley develop four-star kids in the top 10 picks?
Yes, he could.
Hope he does.
But I got to see him do it before I just assume that's going to happen.
Oh, I agree.
I just think there's a lot more value in this.
You still want the best recruits you can get, but you have to fit.
There are some guys that are five-star guys that if you look at their game and what Mark
Pope's going to ask people to do, they don't fit.
I totally agree with that.
I don't think it matters.
We have to change, and you and I are on the same page on the.
this. I appreciate the call. We have to change our view of what recruiting is like under Mark Pope.
We are not going to get five dudes in the top 20. We're just not. They're not going to come.
And I also don't know, like the caller mentions Ryan, I don't know that they fit. So when you're
looking at a recruiting class, we're going to be looking at it differently than we've looked at it for
the last 15 years. Yeah, Pope recruits to a system to his. He's going to get players that fit his system,
not just the best players out there. But I also, I mean, I think it's fair for guys to
to go, I want to see him put a dude in the NBA.
Yeah.
Because that hasn't happened yet.
And so, like, that's going to have to happen, too.
We're going to take a break.
I think a horse will be here when we return.
This is KSR.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
