Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

Starting point is 00:03:44 Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now, here's Matt Jones. All right, welcome back. This is hour number two. Ryan, Drew, Shannon, and Max Duffy here live at KS Bar and Grill. Doors are open. Come on over and have some lunch with us. I came here last night for a little.
Starting point is 00:03:59 dinner. And I've said this before. The catfish here is awesome. I mean, you wouldn't think maybe we'd have the best catfish here at a sports bar. It's awesome. It's so good. I don't get it enough, but the few times I've had it, you're right. I mean, I usually get wings just because I can't help myself. Or the chicken wrap at lunch. Yeah, there's some few of things that aren't, you know, are specially little wings that come to mind. Another secret is the sweet potato fries. Oh, that's the best thing on the beginning. I don't care what I'm getting. There's a plate of sweet potato fries. next year. That's not something I normally order at restaurants, but they're good here. We've got Singo tonight. George's coming back. We've got Singo tonight. So coming out, it's a lot
Starting point is 00:04:37 of fun play. It starts at 7 o'clock. It only takes about an hour. You can have something to eat, play, and have a good time. I've got a couple of calls questions on the A-Vision Glass Text Machine, Drew. One is asking if you're going to have a fade-dis podcast this week. I'm ready. It's week one. You know, there's two of us on the program. And three, if you want to count Billy, and I do count Billy, so there's three of us on me. program. But one of us is at Band Camp. Dork Camp.
Starting point is 00:05:04 So I don't know. The ball is in his court. I'm pretty available this week. We usually do them on Wednesday or Thursday. Both of mine are open. We'll just have to see how he wants to work that out. Well, what are you all want to fill in? I'll say, Max and I could probably
Starting point is 00:05:18 jump in there and make as many bad picks as you guys do. If you want to, I'll happily hosted with Billy and you all can be mad because this is, it's week one. This is an important time for gambling. Absolutely. I'm happy to fill in and take his role while he's gallivanting around the country and spending all the show's money and basically ending KSR. That's what I was here in. KSR's about to end. It is the end. We've mentioned this a few times, but if you all fill in for him, you have some big shoes to fill. My man has been very loopy and maybe on Ambien. He has really been cutting loose this year.
Starting point is 00:05:53 European Matt. Yeah, I mean, we don't really hold much back at all in this show, but he tells a lot. lot of stories. He's, I don't know. It's hard to describe, but it's, the phone book one was good.
Starting point is 00:06:05 The phone book one was good to give you that. Yeah, people tune in thinking they're getting football picks, and sure, there's a few football picks every different once in a while, but you're getting really mad uncensored. Yeah, he was potting guys that he used to go to high school with,
Starting point is 00:06:17 saying that he didn't like the guy. Oh, my goodness. It was unbelievable. He's had a few statements about some people's wives in football. Whoa. Now, speaking of a podcast, you had,
Starting point is 00:06:26 you saw some breaking news involving some podcast news the Kelsey brothers what's their podcast called new heights or something like that the Kelsey brothers yeah Travis and Taylor and it's not their name Travis Travis and Jason almost said Jelcy so they podcast on the side they're pretty good at football yes they are pretty busy guys although Jason's retired they just signed a 100 million dollar deal for podcast 100 million dollar deal that's that's a lot of money right and where does where does KSR podcast usually in relation to their podcast.
Starting point is 00:07:03 You know, we're usually in the same neighborhood. If you're scrolling the podcast charts, you can usually find our logos very close together. But I think if we were to put our paycheck side by side now that they're getting $100 million, there's a little bit of discrepancy in these. Maybe someone that runs the show isn't disclosing how much the show is actually making,
Starting point is 00:07:19 seeing is he spending it all right now, being in Europe, now he's going again. Shannon, the dude, our podcast does as well as the Kelsey Brothers, and they're getting $100 million. Something does. Doesn't line up, does it? When you start looking at the numbers, I mean, all the money they're making and all the money that we could be making.
Starting point is 00:07:35 I feel like we're leaving a lot on the table. My goodness. All right, I'm looking at the current charts. They got us by a little bit now. This stuff fluctuates. I feel like it's up higher because they just got 100. And the NFL season is getting ready to start. That's right.
Starting point is 00:07:46 So they're at number 18. Okay. We're at 36. We can do better. We've been in the top 25. Many times. Many times. So.
Starting point is 00:07:54 But to be fair, I mean, the whole show hasn't been together since what? May? There you go. That's true. That's true. All four of us. So we're about to make a big run. I just think we need to go to eye heart and say we want 100 minutes.
Starting point is 00:08:07 Put our foot down. We can show them what other shows are. You know what they'll say? They'll say, here, here I'll give you $10 a piece. That's it. That's all you get. And I got fade this. We're in the top 100 also, so maybe I could double dip there.
Starting point is 00:08:19 I'm worth at least $125 million. 859-287. That's our Clark's Pubman Shop phone number. If you want to call and get on board. there's another question that came in on the aviation glass tech machine, which has been very good today. This is another great question, I feel like. 502-735-3680.
Starting point is 00:08:36 If you could trade any SEC team from the conference and replace them with another team, who would you choose? So the guy writes in and says, for me, I'd kick out Texas A&M and add Oklahoma State. Wow. Are we wanting to kick them out and bring someone in because we want to win more games? Just make it more interesting.
Starting point is 00:08:56 interesting. Like, no offense to Shannon, I'd probably kick out Vanderbilt. But then you want to win? Yeah, we need those wins. But then I would add, like, maybe somebody like West Virginia. You take out Vanderbilt for West Virginia? Yeah. You took mine.
Starting point is 00:09:10 You had it half right. I was good with your kicking out A&M, and I was about to say add West Virginia. Have a little border rivalry. We have Neil Brown there right now. Yes. We had the trip there for basketball with Kevin. It was great fun. Yeah, so I'm good with adding West Virginia.
Starting point is 00:09:26 but I don't think I kick out Vandy. That's my Nashville trail. Well, that's true. That's Nashville. Sometimes we get those double headers where they're playing the Titans the next day. I can't just give those away. Good point. It's often a free win on the schedule.
Starting point is 00:09:37 So I'll meet you halfway and add West Virginia, but I'm good with kicking out A&M. Maybe even Texas and Oklahoma just got here. I'll give them a little time. But Missouri. They don't feel like a true SEC team, do they? I wouldn't miss Missouri. Yeah, I'm with you on that.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Like those two teams were just at it not that long ago. They don't feel like true traditional SECT. I'm happy to kick out Alabama. Get rid of them. I really deserve to be in the conference and bring in someone like Southern Miss or something like that. A true Southern team. True, yeah. So, Shannon, if you kick out Missouri, who you want to add?
Starting point is 00:10:09 You know what? I'm okay adding nobody. Let's just kick somebody out. I want to go back to 12 teams. We don't need 50 teams in the SEC. They keep adding teams. I want to go back to 12. I would kick out A&M, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas.
Starting point is 00:10:23 They're not even here yet. I kick them out. I want to go back to 12 teams. Well, that's fair because remember during the COVID year when Kentucky had to play 10 SEC games, Mark Stoops was like, that's the hardest schedule ever. Eight games is hard enough. I do not want to go to nine, and we had to play 10. Well, we're kicking these teams out where do they go?
Starting point is 00:10:45 Do they land on their feet? Because if we're just kicking them out to sea, Tennessee can disappear forever. That'd be my first pick. Well, who would be some teams you would like to maybe add? I'm good with West Virginia. Yeah, West Virginia. That would be a cool little rivalry there, a little border rivalry. If you wanted it to make it better, you could always add, you know, Florida State, maybe.
Starting point is 00:11:05 Florida State would be a good. Or Georgia Tech, maybe they're a little better this year. Oh, Georgia Tech, they used to be in the SEC. You know, years ago, I know NC State's name always seems to pop up. The way they recruit and how good they're doing this year, we could have Frederick Douglas. They could probably compete with Vanderbilt, the collegiate football level. I don't want to give them the satisfaction of joining our conference, but if we ended up with UNC, having them as a regular basketball opponent,
Starting point is 00:11:29 and they're still pretty good in football, not too far away. You add some North Carolina. I wouldn't be opposed to that. A lot of fans say exactly what you just said. Getting North Carolina to come into the conference is great for the basketball end of the conference. But if the ACC just disappears and North Carolina disappears with them, I'm cool with that too. Would you take North Carolina if you had to also take Duke? I mean, it would make basketball good.
Starting point is 00:11:53 I don't want them, but if they showed up, I'd say, fine because the home and home in basketball would be fun. We haven't really had that we've done with North Carolina several times but the Cameron Indoor being a regular stop would be fun. Well what would that mean for football? You bring in Duke in North Carolina which at times once in a while
Starting point is 00:12:10 their teams are very good it made a couple more wins for us which would be nice so I've got no issues with that at all we'd be able to beat those programs. It'd be perfect and then they'd also have to think about we've been talking about on this show the debate between what you spend your money on football or basketball they'd have to start getting involved
Starting point is 00:12:26 That's true. That's true. West Virginia is my number one pick, though. I've always thought that would be great. And a lot of people, like, they like Cincinnati, I think they're always thinking the border schools, but West Virginia is the one that I think would kind of even feels like an SEC team. I went to Morgantown for one of their biggest games ever.
Starting point is 00:12:43 They played Rutgers when Rutgers was top five. It might have been like one versus two is when Greg Shiana was there the first time around. That place was insane. I was just there as a neutral party, I guess, because friends were from Morgantown. I was rooting for West Virginia to have that as a regular stop in football and then the fun we have with basketball, I could get used to that. 859-2-8-7.
Starting point is 00:13:04 Shannon, me and the baseball guy, I want to bring this up at some point today. Might as well do it now. The dude Danny Jansen. Yeah. So you kind of tipped us off to this. Played for two different teams in one day yesterday. Yeah, first time in Major League Baseball history. So the game originally was back in June.
Starting point is 00:13:25 He was up to bat for the Blue Jays at the time. Then they had a weather delay, so they had to suspend the game until yesterday. Well, in the meantime, like a couple of weeks later after the game that got suspended, he got traded to the other team, to the Red Sox. To the team they were playing when he was up to bat. Right. So now, fast forward to yesterday, he's, you know, when they continue the game, he's supposed to be at bat for the Blue Jays, but instead he's behind the plate for the Red Sox.
Starting point is 00:13:54 so he's going to be in both teams box scores at the end of the game and that was Major League Baseball history which I thought was really cool I love the story that he had to finish out the delayed game
Starting point is 00:14:06 the first game where he was already in the box score playing for the Blue Jays but when they played the second game of the double header he's on them with the Red Sox he went from at the plate for the Blue Jays to behind the plate
Starting point is 00:14:16 for the Red Sox Imagine the odds if you had to take him to hit a homer for the Red Sox when he was still playing people would have thought you were crazy And now it's very highly possible I was hoping you all would tell me that they made him finish the game as a blue jay
Starting point is 00:14:30 He had to be like look man We started that game with you for Toronto We need you to throw this jersey back on Have this one at bat I guess because he was up to bat Yeah I mean the roster was what the right You can't just be changing the lineup like that So I think they should have made him play for both teams
Starting point is 00:14:44 Well it was a cool story that happened in Major League Baseball It was kind of funny I got to say this where we're talking Major League Baseball I'm on a heater What do you mean? Betting? Betting on draft kings We sit here and do these segments where we give tips and our mix.
Starting point is 00:14:58 You just keeping them to yourself? I bet the wet socks to lose. The wet socks. Every game. The wet socks to lose. I don't want to know about your wet socks. Every single game. Every game.
Starting point is 00:15:08 They're like 30 and 100. They're like the worst team in the history of Major League Baseball. Yeah, what are your odds? It doesn't matter. I bet $5. I win two or three a game. It adds up. It's like the Matt Jones picks.
Starting point is 00:15:20 It's going against the worst team. I can beat Georgia to beat Georgia's date football, but it's not going to pay me much. Hey, any profit is better than zero profit. That's true, but you're just chipping away. So there's your Draft King's tip. Like in football, I always bet
Starting point is 00:15:34 if it's rainy or windy, punt, punt, punt, punt every possession. That makes a little more sense. But now on baseball, White Sox, lose, lose, lose, lose. You're only making like 50 cents a punt. Hey, and they punt ten times, you're winning a lot of money there. So if you put $10 on the White Sox
Starting point is 00:15:51 to lose, what are you getting in return? Probably 13. 14. So you're making $3. Why not? Better than $0. Now I got to look up and see what the white socks are today. Wet socks. Let's all bet the wet socks to lose tonight. Then you all be thanking me here tomorrow. All right. They play today at 8 o'clock. Who they play? Rangers. They host the Rangers. They host the Rangers. White Sox have lost, I think, like seven of their last eight. All right. So the Rangers are minus 140. So you'll get about, you'll want to about $7 on a $10 bet. Why not?
Starting point is 00:16:26 That's not too crazy. All right, let's do it. I'm actually going to bet the White Sox just because I feel like you cursed them. I may have. Right here, I'm betting $10 on the White Sox to win. The KSR curse. Yep, done. He's going to do it for you.
Starting point is 00:16:36 We'll take our break. Come back. Go back to phone lines. 859-2802-287. Ryan, Drew, Shannon, Max Duffy. We'll be right back. This is KSR. Last night, a blown call changed the game.
Starting point is 00:16:48 This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. Starting point is 00:17:43 And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Trip Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines,
Starting point is 00:18:25 as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
Starting point is 00:19:05 because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get the flying.
Starting point is 00:19:25 He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:19:42 What's up, guys? This is Clever Taylor the Fourth. And on my podcast, The Cliver Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Starting point is 00:20:00 Quarterback on office blue 42. Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. From the aviation glass text machine, Max, somebody just texting in and said, Breaking News, a minor league baseball team just changed their name to the wet socks. It's a great name. It is a great name. 859, 2802-2287. Who we got, Shannon?
Starting point is 00:22:27 Let's go to Mike. Mack. Go ahead, Mac. Hey, hello? Yeah, go ahead, Mac. Well, it's actually Mike. Oh, okay, Mike. Oh, it's like Mike to make.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Well, in eastern Kentucky, Mike is Mac. Yeah, well, just old Kentucky, boy. Yeah, me too. Now, I got a couple of things. Well, I'm first time caller. Well, thanks for calling, all righty. Yeah, but I heard y'all talk about this Tennessee game. Yes, sir?
Starting point is 00:23:05 Well, I don't know if you all act like you don't remember, but it's been about like four or five years ago, Kentucky went down to Knoxville, that COVID year, and beat Tennessee. Yes, sir. Sure did. Bossman Fett. about that. Yeah, and then, and they end up, I think they either, they played at least two quarterbacks,
Starting point is 00:23:28 maybe three in that game, and we put it on them. It seems like y'all never really talk about that. No, we don't talk about it. We should talk about it. Mike, we appreciate the phone call. Yeah, I mean, it did happen that time. That's been the only time, I think, in our lifetimes that Kentucky's going down to Knoxville and win the game, but they did win that one time, Drew.
Starting point is 00:23:50 We won two out of four in that stretch, one in Lexington and one in Knoxville. Max, weren't you on that team? I was. I was going to say, Max slash Mike, has an incredible memory. But some of us also remember that game, Mike, as we were standing on the sidelines, just seeing us absolutely annihilate the volunteers. I think we had about 17 picks in that game, about three pick-sixes. We beat them by about 34 points.
Starting point is 00:24:12 It was a great, great game. I think it was around about the sadness of John Slaman. That was the final game he attended, I believe. Exactly right. You're right about that. That was an awesome way to do it. That was the last game. He could be at him, and we kicked there off. I forgot all about that.
Starting point is 00:24:27 I did too. I did too, yeah. He got to walk off the field as a winner. Absolutely. In Neeland Stadium. Yep, that was great. 859-2-287. Who's next, Shannon?
Starting point is 00:24:36 Sue. Sue, go ahead, Sue. Hey, Sue. I just wanted to tell Mike's welcome back home. We're glad to have you back. Thank you. Appreciate it. You're welcome.
Starting point is 00:24:50 Okay. I was listening to the first new episode of Fade This for the football season. Yes. With Matt and Drew on there. And so y'all was talking about the coaches and the teams, and you got to Arkansas. Sam Hittman is their football coach. And Matt goes, and I never thought he did. I'd hear these words come out of his mouth was, doesn't he have a hot wife?
Starting point is 00:25:19 And Drew, you said, well, I don't know. But it was somebody else. But I could not believe he said what he gets on Ryan about. True. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. You got to say to fade this.
Starting point is 00:25:34 Double standards. And I can confirm it's not the current coach. It's the old Arkansas coach that had the hot wife, Belima. Brett Belie. Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Sue's excited. Yeah. But I just thought, I didn't know if Ryan knew that or not. No, I didn't know that. Thank you, Sue. We appreciate that, yeah. Oh, okay, bye-bye. Still on my lines there on the Fade Disp podcast, it sounds like.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Did he do a bone chick a bow-wow to follow it up? Yeah. Come on. See, are you listening? He channels his inner Ryan Limmon a lot on that show. Well, if you want to have Max and I on this week, I'll be sure to bring some of that knowledge to your fade-disc podcast. We might have to do it.
Starting point is 00:26:11 And with expert picks like the Wet Sox to Lose, you might have a good record in week one coming up. Now, Sue mentioned, you know, glad to have you back home when you spent all last, last season at Murray State, how was that for you? It was awesome. I loved it. Obviously, we coach Hood, and Coach Hood's now on the UK staff, so with him was great. We were in a pretty tough little conference and didn't win a whole lot of games, but I had a great time in Murray and appreciated it. They got Missouri this Thursday night.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Oh, that's right. 48 point underdogs. I don't expect them to cover that because we don't like the new staff. We just like the old staff. No good luck to the new staff. You guys could go zero and 12. I don't even care. Get beaten by 100 every single. week. Wow, goodness. How do you really feel about it, Max? Wow. What was your all's big game last year? Did you take any trips with Murray to, you know? We went to, we went to Dakota's twice. So we played
Starting point is 00:27:01 North Dakota State and South Dakota and came home, you know, with an L, which is fine. But we tried our best and it was very cold up there. And I was happy to leave those stadiums as quick as possible. That's a long. No SEC opponents or any really punching up or you just? We played Louisville. We played Louisville. That's right. We were going okay. We're going okay in the first little bit. and then uh... fifty six zero i believe but that's okay we tried we were i think it was seven zero maybe a quarter time i think you might have sent me a picture of video from from louisville before that game how did uh how did you like living in murray uh it was okay there's not a whole lot to do there i used to go out to the elk and bison park a lot and just to you know clear the mind
Starting point is 00:27:39 you get to have a nice little break away from everyone and go what's the elk and bison park there's uh big elk and big bison that walk around in murray they go to little park there drive in and go through the little tour and park the car and drive through it it's a drive-thru park and go through and see some turkeys and some milk and some bison i didn't know all this slow down save some fun for the rest of us uh how often were you going through the park well i mean it's the main attraction to murray so you know once a week when it wasn't sold out and there wasn't you know a big line of cars waiting to get in sometimes an hour wait to get in so you didn't go to what you got matt b's pizza isn't there some famous pizza around there's pizza is good at the tap
Starting point is 00:28:16 We've been there. We've been there. We've been there. Oh, yeah. We had a fun night. We played trivia there that one night. Yes, what's right. We know how to have fun at Murray.
Starting point is 00:28:23 We played Marvel trivia. We had a ringer. We had Daniel with us. Yeah, Daniel was answering to the questions. We were tapping the beers. 859-2-287. Who's next, Shannon? Let's go to Terry.
Starting point is 00:28:34 Terry. Go ahead, Terry. Yeah, guys. Max, you can probably help me on us. That was the last call last night to Stoge, but he was up against the hard break, so we really didn't get a chance to, elaborate. So what do you think, how do you think he'll treat this week with this intense heat every day right up until game time and we have a night game? Do you think he'll go indoors
Starting point is 00:28:59 exclusively? Do you think he'll practice in the evening some to get him used to the light and game time? What do you think on that? And then Drew, my absolute lock this week is Kentucky's total over the total points because I think offensively they're going to score a lot and I think defensively they'll score once or twice and I'll hang up and listen. Thanks. You got it. I want to make that the Don
Starting point is 00:29:25 Franklin Auto Call today because I heard Terry last night. I was driving around. I heard him call in and as Stoop said very question. Stoops is trying to think of the name of the lights. He was like, what are those decorative lights we have? Then it just the show ended. So what do you think? You think they go they're going to try to go late tonight every day this week?
Starting point is 00:29:41 They might practice a little later, but they'll be fine. They're young guys. I'm more worried about him personally. I mean, you know, there's a big vacant area on top of that header his, and I can imagine there's going to be a lot of perspiration. Goodness. During the heat, I can imagine that he'll be going for the slimming black like he always does earlier in season. You know, he's got to wear the T-Shay.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Can't cover himself up with a big jacket, and don't know how the workouts have been going recently, so probably the slimming black, but expect a lot of perspiration on top of that header his this week. Well, that might be good for him. You know, sweat out a few pounds, Maybe some things, you know, maybe that he picked up over the summer. Yeah, or some drinks he had the night before or something.
Starting point is 00:30:16 I'm not sure what he's going to be sweating out. We'll see. But I know he won't be looking forward to the heat, that's for sure. He's definitely a cold weather guy, you know, from Youngstown. He's not really a fan of the heat. So we'll see how he goes. It is supposed to be. He's saving RD1 for after the game, celebrating then.
Starting point is 00:30:30 They've done walkthroughs that I think has been a little different than the past. He even talked about how with so many new players on the team in significant roles, they just want to get their game day routine down. So they had a full dress rehearsal the other night with the lights and everything. All right. Well, take our break. Come back. Ryan, Drew, Shannon, Max, here on Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:30:46 K.S. Bar and Grill. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Ladies and gentlemen, this is our Whiskey Thief song of the day. A little Darius Rucker. Play it, Shannon. Turn it up right here.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Oh, the podcast people can't hear it. That's right. This is much better than sticky fingers. You think? Oh, no doubt. It's the, yeah, the older version of Sticky Fingers. The Sticking Fingers' Dad. By the way, I'm going to give you a chance to have a rebuttal.
Starting point is 00:31:26 Okay. How did I turn you down? Matt says his townhome since you've moved in is freezing cold because of the way you shut your door and it won't allow the air to circulate properly. So he's been freezing since you moved in. Your rebuttal, sir. Well, he's not there, so I don't know how he's been cold because he's never, ever there. And if he is there, I mean, he just leaves trash and then leaves. So, I mean, I don't know what to tell you, Matt.
Starting point is 00:31:54 That's not true. I came back after a year in Murray, and I swear there was still the same trash on the kitchen table. Like, he just leaves it and thinks a tooth fairy cleans up. It's unbelievable. There's shoe boxes everywhere. They're stacked up to the roof because he can't pick them up, walk out the door, put them in the recycling. It's insane.
Starting point is 00:32:15 I'm not going to say a word. and we just want to give you a chance for rebuttal, Drew. Hey, he's not here. We can say as much as we want. I would love a reality show that's just Max and Matt. That would be great. He called you about that time, start in the oven. Yeah, starting the oven for him, how to turn on the microwave,
Starting point is 00:32:31 how these things work, how to pour a glass of water, you know, everything. How to dry your wet socks. Meanwhile, we hear you're up all night watching three-day-long cricket matches. I just think you're all's differences would be very entertaining. That's true. He did say Max falls asleep with the TV. up loud and his door shut so he the air conditioner doesn't get the proper airflow well max has got to watch his favorite tv and it's on you know correct the the Australian football
Starting point is 00:32:56 playoffs are just about to start and every game starts at like 11 or 2 a.m so i got to stay up late and watch those now i did call max last week about 1 o'clock and he was at their town home just watching game film maybe a boil county it just shows how serious this man's taking his coaching job that uh afternoon he could be doing anything he could be taking Matt's shoeboxes out to the recycling. Yeah, well, that feels most of my time. But he was locked into film. Are you the punting and kicking coach?
Starting point is 00:33:25 Are you just, are you total special teams coordinator? Special teams coordinator. Oh, okay. I think it would be the official title. So, yeah, handling all kickoff, kickoff return, pump, pump, all the exciting stuff. All the exciting stuff. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:35 You show them film of Barryon Brown or film of you running your fake when you're trying to show them true speed. I was showing them film of Aidan LaRosa, and now it seems like that's pointless. You know, Red State Barbecue's been serving quality smoking. Meets in Sunneton Kentucky for now for over 14 years. Seven days a week, you can enjoy a tender basket, fall off the bone ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and of course they're one of a kind smoked and flash
Starting point is 00:33:57 fried wings. They're awesome. But they also offer some specialties, including their smoked half chicken, smoke striploid on Saturdays, and on Sundays smoked prime rib. Of course, you can't go there without getting some of those great sides. Potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, beer cheese grits, and the best corn pudding I've ever had. It's good stuff. Corn pudding is great.
Starting point is 00:34:17 Red State Barbecue, 40-20, Georgetown Road here in Lexington. It's barbecue the way you want it to be good. They had, when we were out there for their lunch spot that showed, they had like a mac and cheese, but it had off-A-o sauce sauce. Yes, yes. It didn't mean to get back over there. At Dave's Deli. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:32 To the branch of Red State Barbecue. All right, 859-280-2287. Who we got, Shannon? Sean. Sean. Sean, go ahead, Sean. Guys, what an exciting week leading to college football with the cats with a huge favorite this week. Here's what I want to talk about.
Starting point is 00:34:50 It's cold beer and it's Kentucky Blue Light. I was able to get some last week. It tastes really good. The question I have, if it's an NIL beer, has anyone ever talked about what exactly does this do for Club Blue? What percentage do they get? How does this work? And I'll hang up, but the beer tastes great, and I'm going to be a fan of it for sure. Thank you, Sean.
Starting point is 00:35:15 I appreciate it. The beer is good. I had one last night when I was here eating dinner. I don't know how the breakdown goes, Drew. Do you know? Did they actually state that what the breakdown is? If I'm not mistaken, it said all proceeds go to the NIL efforts now. I don't know how that's broken down into it.
Starting point is 00:35:30 But I believe gravely brewing is giving all the proceeds over to Club Blue, and then they're just doing what they do from there. And again, you can't get it at Kroger Field yet. You can't get it at the baseball field yet. I mean, I think that's coming. But they're under contract with other breweries right now. I think because they just added those last year. This is me speculating, but maybe a year behind on getting in there.
Starting point is 00:35:52 Yeah. We can't just push, I guess, when we have Bud Light and we got our friends at Country Boy. There's enough beer stations. There might not be room to keep adding more. But you can get it here at KS Bar and Grillmacks. I haven't had one yet, and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm trying to pick a perfect time to maybe have my first one. I think the last segment of KS.
Starting point is 00:36:09 are as a perfect time to have one. Saturday's pregame show? I was going to use it as a vibe changer, like in a game. If we're down a little bit and I go, all right, it's time. It's time to unveil, have one, and maybe change the vibe. 859-2-802-287. Who's next, Shannon? Chase.
Starting point is 00:36:22 Chase, go ahead, Chase. Hey, guys. It's been a while. Hey, Chase, how are you? Yeah. I've seen you all at Somerset. I got two quick things with you all today. My first thing is football is going to go 8 and 4.
Starting point is 00:36:39 Dane Keith's going to have a great ear. And then also, Max, we have a golfer who is a kicker here at Russell County High School. I want your thoughts on multi-sport kickers and punters. All right, Chase, appreciate it. Multi-sport kickers and punters. You see a lot of soccer guys come and kick for the team. This is a golfer that kicks for the team. That's interesting.
Starting point is 00:37:04 I'm sure the psychology probably matches up. You only get one opportunity to hit a golf ball well. Good point. One chance to kick a ball well. So sure, the site probably goes over and lots of, it's called a closed skill. So probably a good mental approach to that. But no, normally, like you said, soccer. And then obviously guys from Australia played the Australian football stuff.
Starting point is 00:37:23 So, yeah, normally just go play all sports, Ryan. Play everything you can. Your kicker at LCA, kicker and punter, do they double? They all used to play soccer. And then one of them plays lacrosse. So they've got all the sports going on. You know, Travis Perry was a star golfer. That's not a kicker-prudder.
Starting point is 00:37:40 But golfers, we just have that versatility. We can step out and play anything. He was all region at Lyon County. Now, Shannon, yesterday we talked about the Snoop Dog three-foot bobblehead that got stolen from the Maywood Country Club. Yeah, do we have an update? It's still missing. As of this morning, the Snoop Dog, three-foot bobblehead was still missing at the Maywood Country Club in Barts Town. So I was looking up some of these on the pre-show today.
Starting point is 00:38:05 They're going on eBay for like $650, $700, some of them even $8. So I don't know that one of those is the stolen Snoop Dog bobblehead, but there is one just like it for like 700 bucks on eBay. There's one about 50 yards from us right now. I went to jalapinos yesterday, our neighbors. And they've got one? Right at the front door. Is there really? I actually felt uncomfortable how close it was to the front door.
Starting point is 00:38:28 It's not chained down. I don't want any copycat criminals out there or those guys that stole from Maywood? Maywood Country Club. I don't want them encouraging more, but there is one just right. right here at our neighbors. Well, they have a memorial set up now at the Maywood Country Club where the three-foot bobblehead used to be. And they have a, it's really an elaborate memorial, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:38:50 They've got some white roses, it looks like. And then they took some cardboard and made a sign out of cardboard, and it says, here is Snoop dogs in space. This memorial will stand until his safe return. What's taken so long here with the law enforcement? I mean, we got a picture of the guys. why can't we just go nab him and get Snoop Dog back to where he belongs?
Starting point is 00:39:11 In my investigating, they went to their credit card receipts and they couldn't make out their signatures so they don't really have a whole lot to go by. They're just the camera on them, but you mentioned yesterday, someone said that might be from Ohio. From Ohio, apparently. What do you do there? It's crossing state lines. We've got to get the feds involved.
Starting point is 00:39:28 Well, we'll keep up, we'll stay up on it until the Snoop Dog Bobballhead has returned, although I didn't know there was one just two doors down at Hologinos. Isn't your name on your receipt? Like, you don't have to scribble it on there. Isn't it print it on there when you run your card? Are we sure the one in Alpignos isn't...
Starting point is 00:39:44 Is it the stolen one? Did that just turn up the other day? I think it's been in there a while. I was just pointing out there's one nearby and we need to keep eyes on it. I thought maybe you were directing the FBI to the scene of the crime. Well, whatever helps, because we can't let these guys get away with this. At this point, I think we just got root for karma. Something in their regular everyday life will get them back.
Starting point is 00:40:03 But I feel bad for our country club friends that they don't have it. From Navy's Glass Tech Machine, has Max met the current UK player from Australia and an All-American. Georgia Amor? Women's basketball? Women's basketball? No, you'd be surprised to know that there's actually 26 million people in Australia. And while I've gotten around to meeting a few of the people, I haven't quite gotten around to everyone quite now. You haven't met all the Australian?
Starting point is 00:40:27 I'm sure one day I'll get to 26 million, but for right now I'm just a little bit off. Maybe she must have snuck past me once one day. Well, you're from Perth, right? Right. So she's from Victoria. You all don't just know everyone in both places? Well, the five-hour plane ride is a little bit of a hindrance. You know, the one restaurant in town, we must have missed each other.
Starting point is 00:40:44 She must go earlier than I do. So you're saying this is the equivalent of like we get a player from California and we ask the guy from George on the team. If you talk to your fellow. Yeah, it's like asking the guy from New York. Have you met the guy from California? Who we got next, Shannon? Retired ref.
Starting point is 00:40:59 Retired ref is up. Go ahead, sir. I attribute to Stoops getting some coaches fired while playing against them. I give you one of them. That would be Ed Orgeron when he was at LSU. True. Can you think of others? Wilmuch Champ.
Starting point is 00:41:22 Wilmuch Champ. It's another one, yeah. Will Scott Satterfield? Could you include him? Barry Odom at Missouri got fired just after that. After we beat him in 2018. Yeah. Yeah, there's been.
Starting point is 00:41:32 several. And this year. Dan Mullins. I think Dan Mullins is another one of Florida. He's gotten rid of a few guys on his own staff as well, which is very nice. Eddie Graham? A lot of coordinators. Hey, Eddie's back and doing great things now.
Starting point is 00:41:47 Eddie is like a most valuable player in that department now. He's a superstar now with his NIL and some things he's doing, alumni coordination and everything. He went for a little while. We probably missed him for about six months to a year, and same as Coach Hood. Coach who had left for a couple of years at Murray, but he's getting all the good guys back in the program. I've got a big one we didn't name.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Didn't Steve Spurrier just basically quit after losing to Kentucky? I don't know if they fired him, but he was like, I can't keep losing to Kentucky. I can't lose to Kentucky. I don't remember the timeline. Scott Satterfield? Satterfield, I think, is definitely one of them on the list. I feel like Spurrier took that L to Kentucky and didn't last much longer. No.
Starting point is 00:42:26 I guess this year, the Florida coach, I'm drawing blank on his name. The current one? Yeah. Napier. Napier, Billy Napier, yeah. I think that one's coming. That one's coming. Yeah, maybe after Kentucky beats them again.
Starting point is 00:42:37 I think it's more likely than not. If they're, they've got a big game starting out to get to Miami, if they're not doing well, and they have a very hard schedule and not a very good team. Kentucky goes to Gainesville. We might see him leaving with boxes afterwards. We've got one more break and one more segment. If you want to call and get him board and ask Max a question about if he knows any other Australians, he'd be glad to talk to you about it.
Starting point is 00:42:56 Ryan, Drew, Shane, Shannon, Max, right here on Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed the game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
Starting point is 00:44:09 we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it, and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person
Starting point is 00:44:27 while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin. and finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
Starting point is 00:45:07 And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I gotta manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's gonna be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us
Starting point is 00:45:27 on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stopped by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, IZAD,
Starting point is 00:45:44 you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, guys? This is Clever Taylor the Fourth. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show,
Starting point is 00:45:58 I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office blue of 42. Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:46:19 What? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help!
Starting point is 00:46:39 Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than me. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian, and recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions.
Starting point is 00:46:58 Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Oh, cream of chicken suit. Hey, cream.
Starting point is 00:47:18 Cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrat as part of the Mike Cultura podcast network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts. I'm telling you, we don't play enough sticks on this show. We don't play enough sticks and Billy Idol. I say that every time you play somebody, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:47:41 What's your favorite Billy Idol song? White Wedding. I like White Wedding. Okay, I play that at least 100 times a day on Double Q. And I appreciate that. Yeah. Yeah. What else?
Starting point is 00:47:50 What about sticks? This one? Do you know any other songs of the hit? You know, like the two biggest songs, and those are the ones you name. Yeah, why not? I had all the sticks eight tracks when I was growing up in Otwell, Indiana, though.
Starting point is 00:48:05 You're showing your age? Yeah. Cartman's version is most better. You heard that one? I have heard that. We've played that one, yeah, on here before. 859-2-802-8-7. Before we go back to the phone lines,
Starting point is 00:48:14 Max, this is from the guy who asked if you had met Georgia Amor yet. But they're both in Lexington now and both are All-American, so not one of three billion, two of two. That's true. Yeah, we do have the annual All-American Australian catch-up here at KS Bar.
Starting point is 00:48:30 Your AA meetings? AAA meetings? Yeah, we just didn't talk the whole time. We came to sat at the table and ordered some food and kind of just ignored each other. Maybe KSR can set this up. We'll have Max and Georgia meet. I love it. They can talk about long flights.
Starting point is 00:48:46 Long flights from Perth to Victoria. Yeah. Steve Irwin, like everyone asked me, kangaroos. Yeah, we'll have all the usual chance. Ray Gunn. Yeah. They can do their best Ray Gunn impersonations. There's for Drew on the A-Bin-glass Text Machine.
Starting point is 00:48:57 If it's okay, can you give an update on Freddie, miss his post and miss him on the football podcast? I guess he's just still doing well. Got in touch with him a little bit yesterday. You know, he's just going through it all. We're going to see him Thursday night. Yeah, I'm hoping so. At the Thursday child dinner.
Starting point is 00:49:14 Yeah, and he'll be there. Yeah, keep Freddie in your thoughts and prayers. You know, he's got a tough battle with what he's going on, but we're staying in touch. Of course, today is cut down day for the NFL. It's 4 o'clock Eastern Time. So it's coming up If you believe in your prayer Or good luck charms
Starting point is 00:49:32 Say a little one for Devin Keeve The Broncos I'm hoping this is the year He makes the roster And he started all three preseason games For the Broncos He was on our show Before he went out to camp
Starting point is 00:49:42 So we're about pulling for Devin Certainly pulling for Devin We've had the reverse curse going on So we'd love to add him to the list If he makes that team There's a lot of fringe Kentucky players I just saw Brendan Bates Who played with Max
Starting point is 00:49:55 Actually Brendan Bates played with Babe Perilli, I think he was over there so long. But he was named the highest rated tight end in the preseason. So I don't know the Bears' roster situation. I know they have a good starting tight end, but I hope they have room for Bates to stay in Chicago. You know, being on hard knocks, he's had some cameos there and had some good games. Crossed my fingers for a bunch of the guys today.
Starting point is 00:50:15 You know, there's so many guys who are our UK team. They're probably right on the fringe right now, guys like Phil Hoskins. You said he got a sack in the last night, which was good. And then my man, Luke Fortner, unfortunately, I think, down the depth chart a little bit, but he'll be a two at the Jags this year. And there's a couple other guys that are floating around. I think bully got cut, like I said. My guy, bully got cut from the Raiders.
Starting point is 00:50:35 But the best wishes to all the UK guys. And if Keen needs a word of someone that's being cut by the Broncos, just tell him to give me a call and we can tell me our own pity. That's true. People always ask about Benny Snell and Chris Rodriguez. And I'll read Rodriguez played Sunday night for the commanders. What's up with Benny? You know, I don't know Benny's journey.
Starting point is 00:50:55 I just, I don't, I think it might be the end. I'm not sure. Just haven't heard much of him popping up anywhere. I don't know if he's even still working to get out. He was in the Lions camp? He was in the Lions camp, but Drew just telling us off air that he's last tweet said podcast question mark. So maybe he's looking for $100 million. Yeah, 16 hours ago, I searched his name just to see if there's any news.
Starting point is 00:51:16 He tweeted podcast question mark. So that might answer our questions. Maybe you can come on faith this. We have room. 859-2802-287. We got one final caller, Shannon, who we got? Before we get to that caller, can I tell you who this segment is sponsored by? You were supposed to set me up, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:51:30 I totally forgot. We got a little distracted. Go ahead, sir. Exciting news. Starting point is 00:52:13 Good day to you, Po. I just wanted to say a couple things. You guys are awesome. It's good to hear you, Mac. Maxis voice today and Shannon has the best radio voice in America, I think. Thank you. And Drew is always the voice of reason, even when that's that. True.
Starting point is 00:52:38 Well, thank you. Yes, sir. Yes, guys. I just want to say, if you break it down, what do you think Kentucky would be like if Oklahoma and Texas hadn't joined the league this year and there was still East and West, where would they be? Top five, top four. Thank you, Paul.
Starting point is 00:52:58 Appreciate it. I mean, I guess that's worth discussing it. You know, if we still had the divisions, you'd think Kentucky would be one of the top three teams in the East, I think, this year with Georgia and Tennessee, maybe. It's a good point. I mean, we would have really, you know, East, obviously, Georgia and Tennessee, but we would have probably taken care of the other teams.
Starting point is 00:53:15 Sure, I agree. Getting Mississippi State every year was handy, too. We would have been taking care of Mississippi State, and then if our West opponent was, Arkansas or something. Who knows? Maybe we would have been able to run through the schedule. But, yeah, unfortunately it's not.
Starting point is 00:53:29 Yeah, and that scenario, we'd have the old schedule where you're not, I doubt we're at Ole Miss and at Texas, two of the hardest games. You're getting ahead to head with Missouri. They're in the playoff conversation, and they're good. They have maybe best receiver in the country and their quarterback back. But part of the reason they're in the conversations, their schedule is so easy. So if you go back to the regular format and you're playing them,
Starting point is 00:53:47 yeah, I think it comes down to Missouri, Tennessee, and Kentucky for who's number two behind Georgia. Shannon our moonshine trail commercial came out yesterday What did you think about it? I thought they made us look pretty good somehow Somehow they made a couple of goofs Look like we knew what we were talking about huh So check it out We've posted on our social media
