Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my
greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was part of it. You just understood.
That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to. He's like,
you know, I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just
basketball. So listen to Point
Game on the I Heart Radio app, Apple
Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, guys? This is Clever Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show,
I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds
of stuff. Like being an internet
famous referee. We're in the middle
of a game. This linebacker
walks up to me, he goes,
A, ref, my mom wants you to wave
at her. What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office, Blue, 42.
A rep. Mom, I'm
want you to weigh better.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.

This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome, everyone, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Thursday, September the 5th, I'm Matt Jones here at the KS Bar and Grill, where it's a little chilly.
They got that air conditioner running this morning.
morning, but that's all right. Got Prestensburg in the house. Couple of people here from
Prestonsburg, Kentucky. You can give us a shout on the KS. Clark's Pumbershop phone line. That's
859-2-80-2287. A-Vision Auto Glass Text Machine is 772-7-7-4-5-254. This edition is sponsored by a T.J. Smith
Law Office. You call T.J. He'll make them pay. We are at the KS. Bar and Grill. Come on out and
see us. You can watch the show till 11. It is open after 11. And it is two days until Kentucky,
South Carolina on an absolutely beautiful day.
You guys in Prestonburg, you go into the game?
Look at that.
That's perfect.
It's going to be a great atmosphere.
I was looking at tickets.
We have a new sponsored game time ticket app, and I was looking at it, and it looks like it's
going to be, Drew, an amazing crowd.
It's going to be a great crowd.
I think having SEC Nation will even encourage people to get over there even earlier.
Do you think that's going to happen?
Like, I'm kind of like, I don't know about the whole SEC Nation.
I mean, I don't think it's going to be like a record-breaking crowd,
but for a 3-30 game, might as well head on out there at 10 o'clock and get started,
make a go do a lap around the set over there.
I think it'll help a little bit get people going,
but they're not going to need too much encouragement.
I think everyone's already excited and fired up about it.
I kind of find that show to be awful.
I'm not going to lie to you.
Like, I mean, it's like, I don't know.
Am I wrong?
Do you think that show is good?
I'm not, I like the show that's on during the week,
but that Saturday morning show, I just can't watch.
I can count the times on one hand.
how many times I've seen that show.
I don't make a point to watch it.
I mean, Drew, you seem like, are you a big fan of it?
I usually watch Game Day, but during like a Game Day commercial, I'll flip over there.
It's fine.
I watch a lot of the weekly shows, too.
It gets a little repetitive, seeing a lot of the same faces.
But it's certainly number two to Game Day by a wide margin.
Especially with Sabin now.
I've enjoyed Sabin so far.
And the good thing is, if we win on Saturday, I think we have a really good shot at Game Day.
I mean, it's going to be us or Alabama and Wisconsin.
I think you have to see how this week goes.
but if we win, I could see game day rolling in here Saturday.
I mean, we already, I think it's almost certain we're going to have Herb Street and Fowler calling us.
Which how exciting is that?
That's happened.
It's never happened in Lexington.
Herb Street has never called a game in Lexington.
He's called a couple of our games on the road, but never called a game in Lexington before.
It'll be like, I feel like when Dick Vitale used to come to Rupp Arena.
Okay, you know it's a big game.
I think it's bigger than that because we'd have Vital every year.
Yeah, you'd have him every year.
Like we've never had Herbie and Fowler, ever.
And we're the national story every year in basketball.
We don't get that Saturday bump that you get by hosting game day.
That really puts you in the national conversation, helps with recruiting, gets everybody talking about you.
And if you, I mean, if you could play, again, I mean, we're dreaming a little bit.
But if you could play that game, if it was the third or fourth quarter and you were in it, the whole country's going to be watching.
Oh, absolutely.
You're going to have the whole country watching your football program.
They're going to see us say that we have a whole lot of money.
I don't know what that,
whether I think the other lines I can't say.
Can't say that.
What about Pat McAfee potentially being in Max Duffy's town?
Do we have to keep them apart if they show up here?
Let me tell you,
Max Duffy does not like Pat McAfee.
And I think it was,
I'm going to highly suggest that Max just go and yell at him
from back there.
So we'll see.
I think it would be,
but I mean,
it'd be so great for the program to have that excitement,
to have all that go on,
just to have that whole momentum.
I really hope it happens.
and for our season, we need to beat South Carolina.
Yeah, not looking ahead, but one more thing,
like think about Corso putting on the Wildcat helmet
or something like that, the mascot costume.
He got Herb Street.
He always speaks highly as stoops.
I know he's not going to be impartial in a game,
but I don't think it'll hurt with their friendship.
So it would be awesome.
Tonight, the NFL season starts, Ravens and Chiefs,
a really great game to start the season.
Here at KSpar, bar, we will have specials tonight
with the Kentucky Blue.
NIL beer.
So if you come here tonight and watch the game,
a couple things. First of all,
you're going to be basically supporting
UK sports. If we win,
if we think about it like this, folks.
If we win tonight, it'll be
because you had a beer.
Okay. I mean,
I like it. Mark Strups said, if we win Saturday,
you can look at yourself and go,
I bought beer at KS Bar on Thursday,
and that's why we want. Help them win. See, it's like
you're a part of the action with the Kentucky.
blue light. And then there's also the
Draft Kings thing, which is a hundred percent
profit boost tonight during the game.
So you've got to come kick off the season.
What a great first game. Oh, no kidding.
I mean, the NFL, look
at the games on the first week. You got Packers Eagles
tomorrow night from Brazil where
apparently like people won't get out of their hotel
because they're worried about being kidnapped while
they're there, which seems a little much. We talked about that
on Favis. Then you got like, what is it, Jets,
49ers Monday night?
I mean, the NFL's going back to California.
The NFL rides stacking week one.
Well, I'm ready to go, man.
I mean, we've been talking about it all summer.
We finally got college football started.
Now the NFL starts this coming weekend, so let's go.
I can feel the excitement.
He's ready to bet punt.
How are you feeling, by the way?
I keep having people.
You walked in here, and I was making sure.
Are we still struggling?
I still can't drive.
My mom had to drive me here.
My mom had to drive me here.
Yes, she had to drive me here.
Did she make you like little sandwiches?
She has. She's made dinner. She's made lunch.
She's made sandwiches.
She's washing my clothes. She's cleaned my house.
That's good.
You're going to slow play this, aren't you?
Yeah. I'm really, I'm okay, Mom. No, I'm not.
Okay. Well, I hope you continue to feel better.
Thank you.
I'm, you know, I'm concerned about you, but you tell me you're okay.
Sitting here, I'm okay. It's the moving around part.
There's more of life, though, than that.
Yeah.
You know, I don't know about the health code, but you're not going to be able to sit there all the time.
You're going to have to move in and out a little bit.
Well, as long as you can help me, hold my hand,
walked around UK's campus yesterday.
That was kind of a chore.
Why didn't you go?
Because we went to see Mark Pope.
Shannon, that didn't go exactly right.
I heard on the free show.
Yeah, so we got there and, yeah, they didn't have us on the schedule.
Oh.
I got a phone call on the way that said that they didn't have us on the schedule.
You all had already gotten there, I think.
Parked. You know, I like to be punctual. So, you know, I mean, it's just a miscommunication thing. I'm not sure exactly what I was, when I was in his office, they said come September 4th, 1230. And then I guess somehow that didn't get communicated or whatever. So I'm sure we're going to reschedule it. But I don't really know what happened. But I felt bad because I saw how excited you got and Mario was so excited. I mean, he was like, he was like, I get to go in the coach's office and then it just didn't happen. So nobody's fault. Just one of those.
things. The good news, though, Mario did get free. He got credential.
Free Mario. Free Mario.
Nice. Took me, you know, being a little assertive. I think it's fair to say, maybe a little
assertive. I, you know, we've only been doing this for a long time, and the folks at
UK still think that the radio show and the website are the same thing. I think most people know
that it's been 15 years that they're not the same product.
But I feel like I have a conversation with UK every year about it.
And so, you know, Drew and other people apply through the website,
the only person that applied through the radio show,
like I don't even have a credential yet, Ryan.
You and I haven't even gotten one yet.
Was Mario and Mario got turned down, and I said, explain why,
and they really didn't have an explanation.
And then finally they were like, well, yeah, I guess you're right.
And Mario got credentialed.
So whatever it takes to free Mario.
He sent me at Texas morning, and it was like all exclamation points.
I got credential.
So I was happy for him.
Because he looked like a sad puppy when he told me he didn't get it.
And that's one of the things I said to him, Shannon.
I was like, how can you make Mario a sad puppy?
Yeah.
I mean, he does so much around here.
Don't make him a sad puppy.
And then they did.
That and yesterday it was like taking him to meet Santa at the mall.
And Santa wasn't there.
He's been let down a lot.
Santa was in Atlanta.
Yeah, recruiting Caleb Wilson.
So, you know, that happens.
But now we're here.
and everything's back.
And I want to thank the Louisville soccer sporting.
Louisville, excuse me, Lexington.
Yeah, that's a rival.
Blue to Louis.
Lexington Sporting, they came by and brought us all credentials today.
They were like, UK may give you a hard time, but you can come to us.
Including Mario.
Including Mario.
So I just want, I want everybody, you know, Mario, Billy and Shannon sometimes get forgotten
and they need to not.
They're part of this too, and they should be credential.
Well, I think since you had so much success with UK and Mario, I think now your next goal is the SEC and Shannon the dude.
I've only been a part of this thing for like 13 years.
That's harder.
They literally said we don't credential people whose last name is the dude.
And that's going to be hard because that is Shannon your last name.
Well, I mean, I put Grigsby and they're like, who is this guy.
That was the confusion.
They wanted me to put the dude.
Yeah, they don't know who that is.
So there you go.
Now, the other thing we did yesterday, and I had no idea people.
would get that excited was the picking the celebrities for the Survivor game.
We ended up at this moment, we have 46 people in this.
Wow.
I'm cutting it off at 50.
Now that 46 includes seven of us from the show.
So it includes the four of us, Mario, Billy, and Max.
So 39 celebrities.
Pretty amazing list.
Yes.
Looking at the list, who are you most surprised?
Who are you most surprised say yes?
I'll give you mind.
I was surprised Andy Buckley, David Wallace from the office, said yes.
And not only said yes, may have texted me more than anyone else on the list last night.
He was very, very excited.
I had to explain to him the rules.
I'm not going to say it took four or five texts, but it might have taken four or five texts.
But he's in.
So that was probably the one I was most surprised about.
Ron Slay joined this morning.
Oh,
well, heck, that might be the most surprising.
Ron Slay, former ball.
Former Vaugh.
Someone wrote him and asked, and he DM me and said, I'm in.
And so Ron Slay joined this one of the biggest villains of the tubby era.
But he's kind of entertaining.
I'm not going to lie to you.
I know he's a ball, but he's kind of entertaining.
So how about Ron Slay?
It's a good good.
My first surprise was how big the list got since the show ended.
We weren't even at 20 when we went off the air and you've doubled that.
The name that jose is.
jumped out the most probably Andy Barr.
We got another congressman later in the night.
Oh, okay.
Morgan McGarvey.
So we have two of the 435 United States congressmen are in here.
Now, this went kind of viral, but it sounded like you had trouble reaching Morgan Wallen.
Okay, so I wrote Morgan Wallen.
I got a response that said, is this message for Janet?
It sounds like it's for Janet.
And, you know, I'm not going to miss a beat.
I was like, yes.
ask Janet to join because I thought it would be nice to have Janet.
It's exactly who I'm looking for.
And then the person said, who is Matt? What is KSR?
And I said, it's a radio show in Kentucky. You'll pick NFL games. We would love to have
Janet. So I'm switching. Can't get Morgan Wallen, get Janet.
It's like when he cancels his shows, they should just roll Janet out from now on.
All right, you go to see Garth Brooks. He's not available. Bring out Janet. Right. And she, and then he said,
I don't, Janet doesn't want to be part of this.
It sounds like you will be making fun of her.
And I said, no.
We love Janet.
And then he just didn't respond.
So Janet's a no.
So Janet, unfortunately, looks like a no.
Did you get an answer from Billy Corrigan, Maryland Manson, or Stan?
So I did not hear from Billy Corrigan, did not hear from Merrill Manston.
Can I tell you who I'm disappointed I didn't hear from?
Is that?
Now, by the way, we have four more spots.
So I'm not giving up yet.
Okay.
Disappointed, I didn't hear from Bobby Bones.
Oh, no.
Like I went to your wedding, man.
Arkansas beef.
Come on.
I'm a little disappointed.
Well, I'm not disappointed, but I was surprised I didn't hear from Big Cat.
I thought he would respond.
Yeah, because PFT did respond.
Because PFT did respond.
So, I mean, he may just have been busy.
I'm not, I mean, he's always been very good.
John Califery, anything?
Didn't expect Cal?
I didn't expect a yes from Cal.
Let's see.
Who else was on here that I might have thought?
Steve Zahn asked me what the blank is that.
Yeah.
Did you explain it to him?
I explained it to him and then he didn't respond.
I thought Willie Colley Stein nice edition.
Rex Chapman just gave me a flat out no.
I'm surprised by the people who responded and just said no, Shannon.
Yeah.
Like Ryan McGee of Marty McGee.
He was like, I don't know that I'll have the time.
It's like you text me one team a week.
You just say bears and it's over.
Would you rather get a no or no response at all?
I'd rather get no response because I think I feel like I would go,
well, maybe they just didn't know.
When you give me a no, it just hurts.
Especially if it's just a no with no explanation.
Like Iron Eagle said he has to call NFL games and he can't.
I get that one.
That would make sense.
We don't want to get anyone in trouble.
I don't want to get anyone in trouble.
But the, you know, I thought about it.
And I just don't think I can pull it off.
Yeah.
I think the best answer is Dwayne Peevy just saying,
Or no, was it Vince Merrill?
Vince Merrill just said K.
I mean, Vince Merrill's pretty busy.
Yeah, he just said K.
Oh, I gave you another one that gave me a no.
Tony Chivani.
Well, he's busy with AEW.
Tony Chivani says, I'm going to have to politely decline.
That was nice.
Well, that was nice, though.
Politely.
That way, yeah.
If you're going to get a no, that's a good no to get.
What, the politely?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's kind of sweet.
So we need four more.
So here's what I'm going to ask.
If you know a celebrity, now look, I mean, I know I can.
can fill this with people in Lexington and I I'm glad to do it but part of the fun of this is the
randomness of the people in it yeah if you know someone that can do it let me know it's because of you
all that we got Burke Kreischer that one time yeah remember it's because of you all that I met
andy buckley he's in this because some random person knew them if you know someone who could fill
one of the final four slots that would be kind of cool send me their name on the text
machine but like ask them if they can do it like i don't just want a cold call these people yeah 7 7 724
5254 i'd like to have four more kind of random people uh jack harlowe his manager wrote me and goes
he's considering it today okay a big decision a lot going on make a spot for him
no we'll make a spot but i mean i feel like so right now he's just sitting around considering
long to figure out whether or not you want to do it like what is he's a movie star now i understand i'm not
I could understand to know, but I don't know what the debate internally is as to whether or not to do it.
Probably associating with Kentucky fans.
Maybe so.
Did you ever hear from J.D. Vance?
J.D. Vance did not respond.
He's probably busy.
I can a little bit going on.
I can accept he's probably busy.
I was hope he would respond because you said you guys have gone back and forth a lot over years.
But, you know, he's, it's a different time.
I mean, I'm not even kidding.
The Secret Service might have taken his phone.
You know, I'm not kidding.
They do that.
They take your personal phone.
That was one of the things.
I think it was Trump would, like, go wrestle with them to get his back.
I think they take your personal phone for real, which would make sense because you don't want to get hacked or all that stuff.
I understand.
But at what point do we send follow-up messages?
Like, hey.
I only followed up with Tom Hart.
What's a good line?
Circling back?
I'm circling back on our...
I followed up with Tom Hart.
Tom Hart said, I didn't think it was...
It looked like spam.
Who starts their text with, hey, it's mad.
That was a Mario thing.
Right. Well, you kind of dictated that part to him.
Hey, it's Matt.
I did not say, say, hey, it's Matt.
I think he did.
Stop it. 859-2802.27.
We're going to take a break.
We'll be back.
We're here at KS. Barn Grill.

What's up, fam?
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night bases on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers,
why he got the ball, like,
After you go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

What?

Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2802287.
Matt Jones, Ryan Limmon, Drew Franklin.
People writing me suggesting yourself.
No. I mean, I don't say that to be rude, but like, I can get, I mean, I can get the people in here and we could finish the league.
The point is to kind of get, you know, it's nothing against you. The individual, Drew, that person can be wonderful.
The goal is to kind of have this hodgepodge mix. For instance, I know one of the people knows Patty Loveless.
That would be great. I'd love to have Patty Loveless. I don't know how to get in touch with her. And like, you can't just write me and go, how about Tom Cruise?
Okay, but like I have to be able to get in touch with them.
Like I can name people's names.
The issue is, can we get in touch with them?
I mean, it's not like I don't know four people's names, Drew.
It's people I can actually get in touch with.
We're shooting for the stars.
Those would be two great stars.
I would like to add Tom Cruise, Patty Lovelace.
It's about knowing someone.
Dolly?
Maybe dolly would be excellent.
Someone out there, no Dolly?
Yeah, I would love that.
She was in Lexington last week.
I know.
We talked about it.
Dolly, apparently, everybody tells me the UK dance team has a new Dolly Parton routine,
and they were like, you'll love it, Matt, because they're saluting Dolly Parton.
So that's kind of nice.
All right, UK South Carolina, before we go the phones, 859, 280, 2287.
Play Saturday.
Tuggy still a 10-point favorite.
We saw yesterday they listed the first ever injury report for an SEC game.
So SEC games now have injury reports.
It's only if you play another SEC team.
and you have to list each team who's hurt.
And if you don't have a person on the report is hurt, then they can't play.
So pretty much that means if they're not on the report, they will be playing.
What did you think of the report?
Any surprises on anything?
Well, for starters, I just like having the report.
You know, we usually have to speculate all week.
You know, we're on message boards.
We're talking to people.
We're guessing, are they in pictures?
I love that it's just out probable, doubt.
right there in front of us. I think there were 13 Kentucky players on it.
Six of them were out, but most of those we already knew, season-long injuries.
But Chip-Trainum was on there to kind of confirming, even though Stubb's looked at
on Monday.
Chip-Train-M not playing.
Not playing.
Josh Caddus was probable.
That's good.
Haven't had him in a long time.
Need to get him out there in pads.
But those were the two that stood out.
There were no surprises.
I saw in the comments on my post, people were like, oh, it looks like we're banged up.
I mean, and they were pointing the people out.
Well, they were out the last game.
Yeah.
They were out of camp.
There's nobody, there were no real surprises.
I mean, DJ Waller is probably the only person that was maybe a little.
That was another good one.
It was questionable.
That was maybe a little surprise because he didn't play in the first game, but he's now been moved up to maybe.
And he and Catas were both spotted in pads at practice this week.
Good to have them getting closer.
Silver was the one that got hurt in the game, but like he's probable, right?
He lists him as probable.
He's probable.
I think five of the six that are listed is out.
We already knew they're out for the year.
So even if it looks bad on paper, those aren't new injuries outside of Chip being out one more game.
But otherwise, you know, generally pretty positive.
But you like that they're having to do that?
Love it.
You think Cal will.
Well, Cal will hate it.
The guidance when it comes.
He will write.
I haven't seen him on a piece of paper and that will go out.
I mean, Stoops says that he was open about injuries.
He wasn't the most.
No, he wasn't.
I mean, and no coaches.
We're not singling any amount.
They do it for gamesmanship.
There's been times where they put people in pictures.
like they're practicing when they weren't really practicing
they'd have them dressed just to throw off the other team
I love that it's just straightforward right now
every team has to do it and the SEC
apparently is very serious about it
they've told the coaches if we believe
you are gaming it you will be fine
and the reason they're doing it quite frankly
is gambling yeah I mean that's why they're doing
it's honestly to it's not to protect the gamblers
I don't think they care about me and you
it's to make sure
that there is not
information that leaks out. And I continue to use the example of Will Levis. When Will Levis was hurt,
information leaked out, people got it, and it leads people. You don't want to make it to where there's
people in your program that have an incentive to put out information that they could get paid for.
That's really what it ultimately is. You're trying to keep it from, okay, I know Will Levis is out.
this person over here would pay for that information,
so I'm going to sell it.
It's not, I don't, I know of no one ever doing that,
but they want to make sure that incentive, Ryan,
does not, does not exist, and that's why they're doing this.
And I think all conferences are going to end up doing it soon.
Yeah, that's exactly why they're doing it.
And you're right, every conference will be doing it eventually.
But, you know, we've said stuff on this show that the University of Kentucky
got mad of us for saying such and such was hurt or somebody's not going to play.
They would actually get mad at us.
I think of that that gammonhip, they didn't want to tip their hand to the opponent so much.
Well, now it's going to be tipped for.
Yep.
In gambling, the big gamblers out in Vegas, the ones they call like Sharps,
one of their biggest advantages is finding out information.
It's the biggest advantage.
Billy Walters, his book, The Gambler, he even writes.
That's one of their biggest thing.
They have people all over the place that get scoop from inside programs to get a head start on gambling with the injuries.
And college was the, I mean, I had a person who used to work at ESP,
PN tell me that the big money people in Vegas would pay someone at most colleges to leak that
information to them.
And it was like not necessarily players.
It would be trainers or somebody.
It could be anybody.
And now that incentive in theory is gone.
Richie Farmer just joined.
So now three more.
Got to have Richie.
Three more.
And we will be finished.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J.
He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.
This is Marilyn Manson.
You know, Marilyn Manson, I noticed they didn't write me back, but I noticed on Snapchat,
his number that used to be his is now a guy named Josh.
And so I was wondering, do you think it would be cool to have a phone number that, like,
seven years ago was someone else's number?
Like, if you had...
Yeah, but is that a cool thing?
Would you be like, Shannon, it's cool?
I used to, I have Jay Z's old number, or would that annoy you?
I had a buddy who had a number of the guy from Tantric.
I don't know if you know who that band is.
Oh, yeah.
But I mean, this is the only thing I have to compare it to.
They're not like a huge band, but they're big enough to be playing, you know,
like louder than life.
And he would just mess with them all the time because the guy would be hitting him up for, like, you know, drugs and stuff.
So he was just like, oh, yeah.
Well, now we know somebody, I guess, Shannon, who used to deal drugs.
I think it would depend on the celebrity.
If it was a bunch of people that have fun checking in, that's cool.
But if I had like O.J. Simpson's old phone, I wouldn't want that either.
Yeah.
Kind of depends what I'm getting since to me.
I don't think you'd want O.J. Simpson's old phone number.
You're probably going to get some mean messages in that in that one.
You're also going to get messages from Dupuses like us trying to get you to be in a Survivor League.
Over and over and over.
I think Marilyn Manson changed his number because we wouldn't leave them alone.
Well, by we, you mean you.
You would snapchat.
It's a fun party trick to say.
Anybody want to call Marilyn Manson?
Yeah, that was more you than me that did that.
I do want to go back to Janet, though.
Who is she important enough where she's got somebody kind of intercepting her messages and answering for her?
No, I think it was just her husband.
I mean, I don't think you need to read too much into that.
I do think, you know who's in Lexington tonight, Lil Yachtie.
Yeah.
Does, should I know who that is?
I mean, I've heard of him, but should I know any of his music?
I don't even think I could name.
You guys from Prestonsburg.
You know any Lil Yadi?
I'm familiar, but I can't read you his catalog.
Yeah.
Are you going?
No, but what's interesting to me is there's no way Lil Yadi can fill up Rupparina, right?
Like, I mean, there's 20,000 people.
Louis Yaddy, that person's not big enough for Rupert Rufferin.
I mean, I have doubts he would fill Roperina, but it is a big name.
See, I think, you know, Mario had his conversation yesterday.
He knows.
Is Mario going?
I don't know if he's going.
but he may look at you like you looked at him yesterday when he didn't know smash him.
Okay, but if Mario knows it is not going.
I mean, you have to remember there's only so many people.
Like Lexington has what, 350,000 people?
I mean, how many Lil Yadi people?
First of all, does anyone, do you know anyone going?
No, my friend.
My friends aren't making it to Lil Yachti.
Shannon, do you know anyone going?
No, didn't know who he is.
Do you folks in the bar know anyone going?
Leera, Leera, do you know anybody going to Lil Yadi tonight?
No.
If Leera doesn't, like, who's going?
If Leera doesn't know anybody, like, who's going to Lil Yadi?
Somebody's got to be going.
I know him is, have you seen that entrance?
They, like, AI, you can put anybody on it now where they're walking down a stage and, like, dangling the mic and then dancing, that's, that's a little yachty.
So maybe there was, like, a billion people at that little y'i show.
Maybe we'll get a fraction of that.
I think I said Little Yachty, by the way.
I just don't know any of them that are.
All right, who's up first, Shannon?
All right, let's go to Christian.
Christian.
Go ahead, Christian.
Hey guys, how are you doing?
Good.
So I want to bring a couple points.
I'll try to be quick.
So the first one kind of goes back to Tuesday when you talked about Bruce Pearl thing.
I don't want to talk about politics, but I do want to talk about from the perspective of a teacher because that's what I am.
Yeah.
It's in our contract that we cannot influence anyone politically.
We can't talk about it openly.
I mean, we could have discourse about it.
We could talk about political issues in class, but we can't, like, convince somebody.
or in doctorate.
You're an undergrad teacher.
Like you're like high school or something like that, right?
He is in college.
So college professors and coaches, they should have more.
I mean, I'm for college university or basketball.
I mean, I'm for those people having the freedom.
Like, I don't think you should say that's the time you're supposed to be opened up
to different perspectives.
So I don't mind the idea that Bruce Pearl has a quote unquote right to do it.
And I want to be clear, because people were writing me over and over going,
well, you wouldn't care if it was a liberal.
I'm just saying to you, I can't ever remember a college coach who has to recruit,
ever being as loud as Bruce Pearl is about politics, who has to recruit.
It's different for pro coaches like Steve Kerr because they don't have to recruit.
But I can never remember left or right.
I mean, do you know, can you think of a coach that's tweeted 25 times in a row about
a Democratic politician? I can't.
No.
I mean, so it's just an odd decision.
Does he have a right to do it?
Of course he does.
Is it fine that he thinks that?
Fine with me. I don't care.
But I'm surprised he's doing it because he is certainly going to have to go recruit
parents who believe something different than him.
And if they go to his Twitter account, as Drew said,
and the first 20 tweets are about politics, that might be a hindrance.
Right, right.
I just wanted to kind of give my kind of two senses, like, as like a teacher's like,
yeah, I can't really, I mean, I'm influencing like kids and parents and I don't want to, like,
alienate kids.
So, like, from a perspective of the coach, you're going to alienate recruits and parents of those kids.
Yeah.
Well, I appreciate the call.
I think it's, you know, but we'll see.
I just, I, a lot of people were sort of going, oh, Matt, you're saying that he's this and he's,
I'm not saying anything.
I'm making no judgments about what he's saying.
I just am surprised.
I mean, let's just put yourself in the shoes of a Kentucky coach.
If tomorrow, Mark Pope did 20 straight tweets about Trump or 20 straight tweets about Harris,
how would our fan base feel?
I mean, I think about half of them would be like, what are you doing?
Yeah, why are we doing this?
You know, and so I think that's what, but Pearl, I think it's kind of under the wrong.
radar, maybe people aren't seeing it as much.
Yeah, when you're representing something bigger and you've got a locker room like that,
I mean, not say you shouldn't have an opinion and express it.
You just, I would do my best to not be divisive.
I mean, think about how many people say to me they wish I would not talk about it.
And I talk about it 10% as much as Bruce Pearl.
You know, Ryan?
I mean, that's what's weird to me about it.
He's got to wonder if it's getting to a point where somebody at the university is going to have to
have a sit down on him.
Well, he hasn't done it as much in the last two or three.
days.
Which makes me wonder if maybe somebody did say something.
Can you just tweet about our basketball season one time?
That's what I'm going to recruits?
Who's next?
Randall.
Randall, by the way.
Speaking of recruits, got a big one today.
We'll do it next segment.
Randall, go ahead.
Hey, I got two questions.
First one was how do I listen to the show live on radio?
How do you listen to KSR live on the radio?
Yeah.
Where do you live?
Casey County.
Okay, I don't know if we're over the air in Casey County,
but you can always listen on WLAP.com or on IHeart, look up WLAP.
And in Casey County, I believe we have an affiliate in London in Somerset
that might extend over there.
I'm not sure.
Is there an app?
Yes, it's IHeart app and look up WLAP.
How are you listening right now out of curiosity?
on the phone.
Hold on my headset.
And I always listen to the podcast.
Usually I travel.
Okay, got you.
Yeah, WLAP, get the I-Hard app, WLAP, and you should be able to have it.
But go ahead.
Second question was, and it's a hypothetical, you know, would you like or dislike if Kentucky was to go to the ACC?
We will.
It's a football program.
It's a theoretical, would I like or dislike it?
I don't know, but it's never going to happen.
it's like that's like kind of asking me if I would like to live on Jupiter because you know it's just
never going to happen. I think the answer though is no because while it would be nice to have a
chance to win the ACC, that conference is going to fall apart within six or eight years. The teams
I would want to play are going to be gone. I would assume North Carolina will be gone in six to eight
years, probably Florida State and Clemson. So do I want to be playing Boston College in basketball and
football in six or eight years? I think the answer would be no. No. Well, where do you think the Duke and
North Carolina? North Carolina is going to end up in the Big Ten or the SEC. They'll get to pick,
and I appreciate the call. I mean, I think the big SEC, these conferences, in my opinion,
in a decade. If we sit here in 20,
34. I think both the Big Ten and the SEC will have 20 teams, and that will be what they have.
All right now the Big Ten has 18. They're going to take two. I bet if you ask them, their top
two choices would be North Carolina and Notre Dame. That's who they'd like to have when it all
shakes out. I don't know if it will. Then I think there's a group of schools that include
North Carolina, Notre Dame, Virginia, probably Florida State, maybe Miami, maybe.
like a Kansas, there's going to be another group of schools.
And when it all plays out, the SEC is going to have 20, the Big Ten is going to have 20,
and then some version of the Big 12 is going to have 20.
I personally think the ACC is going to go away.
I think there's going to be three teams of 60,
and then everybody left is going to create their own conference,
and that everybody left is probably going to include Louisville,
that everybody left is probably going to be like Washington State, Oregon State,
the teams that didn't get it from the ACC,
the teams that didn't get it from the –
that's who's going to be left.
Louisville's going to probably end up in that conference, honestly.
And so my question is just who does the SEC get?
And if you ask me if I could have any of them,
I'd want North Carolina, Virginia, Notre Dame,
and then Florida State or Miami.
That's probably what I'd want if I picked it.
What about you?
I thought you may say Duke.
I'd love to have Duke.
I just don't realistically think Duke's going to be in the group.
I'd love to, if you ask me, I'd want North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, Notre Dame.
I don't think Duke's going to end up in that group.
I think it's going to be just North Carolina.
I think that most fans are probably exactly what you just said.
They'd take those four schools just because of the fan aspect of it, for sure.
They wouldn't help academically, but I think we could have a fun rivalry with West Virginia
if they joined the conference.
I know it's not the school of a Duke or Virginia.
That would be a fun border rivalry to have.
I've been to a football game there.
It's crazy.
We went to the Kevin Knox comeback game and basketball.
That was crazy.
I think we could have a lot of fun with them if that popped.
If you made me guess, Notre Dame is going to end up in the Big Ten.
The SEC and Big Ten are going to fight like heck for North Carolina.
That's going to be the big prize, is who gets North Carolina.
Then Virginia is going to be the second best prize.
That's why I think it's funny Florida State and Clemson file the lawsuits.
These conferences want North Carolina and Virginia the most because it's new markets
and it's a different thing.
And the South Carolina and Florida will fight Florida State and Clemson.
for the same reason that we would fight Louisville.
They don't want to share that state with another program.
Clark's Pump and Shop.
Brian, you like Clark's Pump and Shop, don't you?
Two of them close to my house.
They have beer, chicken, ice, chips.
They got everything.
And a chicken sandwich, three-piece bone-in fried chicken or three-tenders is only $5.99 with wedges.
It's an amazing deal.
You can't find deals like that anywhere.
They got fast food madness, and Clark's Pumpat Shop has pizza.
They got Cajun chicken.
They got it all.
Get fresh food on the go in a store and while you fill up and get gas.
It's at Clark's Pumping Shop.
Return, refresh, refuel at Clark's Pumping Shop.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
This KSR.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenge.
challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the
lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court licking his fingers while he got the ball.
Like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah?
You figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.

Is this Yadi?
Yeah, this is Yadi.
All right, so this is a little Yadi.
Got some bad news for you Yadi fans.
Liera.
All 12 of you.
Mario.
Drew.
Lil Yati canceled tonight due to low ticket sales.
I can't imagine why after reading this morning.
Mario wrote Mingoes, you have no idea how big he is.
And then I just wrote him, then why are there no tickets?
Is he planning?
I literally wrote at Mario and said, do you know anyone going?
And he said no.
And I was like, well, he can't be that big.
September 14th, he's playing at the Harbor Terminal B.
Is he playing on an airport?
Exactly.
Okay, so, yeah, his next concert is in Bangor, Maine at the Harbor Terminal.
Okay, that, first of all,
how many Yachty fans are there in Bangor, Maine?
But secondly, that makes more sense.
Again, what do I always talk about?
You got to be able to fill the building, right?
Yep.
So, for instance, OVW did this show in Pikeville, the building was big, but we made it small.
We made it like 2,000 people.
We had 1,600, and it was a great crowd.
It's all about, it's all you got to make the building fit.
Rupp is not a building for little yachty.
When he grows up and becomes a full yacht, then, like, it may end up working.
doesn't right now. I think you still have to do the concert for the few people that did by it.
I don't care if there's six people there. I think you show up and do it.
Just got canceled this morning. Day of. That's not a lot of. I guess they were expecting
a last minute push. A lot of walk-ups. They were expecting a lot. If you cancel it this morning.
Feel bad for all the little Yachti fans out there. What about all the people that came to town?
I mean, there was just a buzz at the hotels last night.
Let me just say, if I'm the one that broke that to you and you were going, I apologize.
Okay, I apologize.
Maybe Lil Yachty will do our league.
He's available.
He's playing the Terminal B.
It's really me.
We shouldn't make fun.
He is, I'm sure, huge.
He just maybe not Rupp Arena.
Huge.
Okay, Jasper Johnson's deciding today.
2.30 is his announcement.
I'm going to be at Woodford County High School.
Drew's going to be at Woodford County High School.
All indications are that he is going to pick Kentucky.
We see no reason he will not.
How excited are you, Ryan, about this gift?
I'm very excited for the Johnson family, you know, I've known them for a long, long time.
I'm also very excited for Mark Pope.
I think this kind of sends a signal out to everybody that Mark Pope
to get these two high-profile kids that are right here in his own backyard in Malachi Marino and Jasper Johnson.
I mean, make no mistake about it.
Jasper Johnson is a Lexington kid.
He grew up in Lexington.
He lives in Lexington.
He may have played at Whitford County High School a couple years, but he's a Lexington kid.
So to get these two guys in his own back.
backyard, I think, is a big signal to everybody else in the college basketball world. Mark Pope is
going to be a force to be reckoned with. I'm not going to go that far because he does live in Lexington.
So he should get the guy in Lexington. I do think, though, it's one of those things that it would
have been bad if he hadn't got. Right. So like I still want to see, and I'm sure he will. I want to
see Mark Pope get a top 25 guy from somewhere else. I think he will. But you could. You could,
lose the two kids from Kentucky.
And to his credit, he did not.
And he needed to get both of them.
These are two of the highest-ranked kids to come from the state in a long time, Drew.
I mean, you're looking at probably two of the five highest-ranked kids to come from Kentucky in 15 years,
and they both happened to be in the same class.
You had to get them, and he did.
Yeah, checking something else off.
Any Pope critics were waiting to say that he couldn't even land the two in his backyard.
It's looking like he's ended up with both of them.
I think it says a statement to other recruits,
is not necessarily from Kentucky.
I know Braylon Mullins, who they're looking at,
is played AAU and Moreno,
but not just having personal connections.
It says, look, maybe he can go out and get five stars,
even if they were local.
Jasper will be the first five-star across the board.
Moreno is a four-star in some services.
So it's just another big statement from Pope
since he's been hired before they actually almost said kick it off,
tip it off here in a few months.
I'm going to go live from the announcement.
Nice.
I may stream it or,
you know,
reenact it via dance or something,
but I'm going to go,
I'm going to go live from the jazz,
like it's old school,
going to go live from the announcement.
What's the last one you attended?
I haven't attended one in a while either.
I used to go to all of them.
Well, no,
I guess I went to Dane Keys.
That's right.
I'd say Dane's probably,
that's where I was running the live
and the internet was yelling at me
because the service was.
Somebody had one here.
Who was it that had he?
Landon?
Is that who had it here?
Who did their announcement here?
Oh, Cutter Bowley.
I was at that way.
He signed here, but we also went to his school.
I was at that one, yeah.
We went to LCA the morning.
So we've had a few.
The last basketball one I went to, Derek Willis.
I was with you at that one at Bullitt East.
That might have been the last one.
I can't think of who else it would have been.
I didn't go to Reed Shepherds, and I'm not going out of state.
So I think it was Derek Willis.
It's probably.
Dante Allen.
Do you guys go to Dante Allen?
No.
I know.
I didn't go to Dante Allen.
It's probably Derek Willis is the last one that I went to.
So Jasper, this is going to be very exciting.
So I'm going to go live.
I'm going to put on Antigone right there.
Is there any chance that he picks one of the other schools?
Well, then he'll have to deal with the rabble.
That'll be the last one you go to.
There'll be no more after that.
Are you waiting for the whole program?
You're sitting through all of it?
No, not sitting through the whole program.
Who's next?
Poe.
How are you, Po?
Hey, I'm good, guys.
How are you all today?
Good.
What's up?
Are you kind of getting into what I was,
wanting to ask and
or want to talk about and ask a question.
It's going to be so awesome.
I don't want to look ahead of this year because I'm...
Are we just got a minute, Paul.
You're going to have to go through it.
We just got a minute.
Go ahead.
It's going to be four Kentucky guys probably on the team next year.
That's going to be homegrown.
It's going to be awesome if we're good.
It's going to be awesome if we're good.
If we're not good, we're not going to care that they're from Kentucky.
But if they're good, we'll be very excited.
No, you're not, you don't want, hang on just a second, Po.
You don't want a team that's full of Kentucky guys and doesn't win.
Well, let's just say if they win or not.
Exactly.
That's why it'll be awesome if they're good.
If they're good, Po, it'll be awesome.
But if they're not, it won't matter.
So that's the thing.
It's going to be really cool having four Kentucky guys, Po, if we win.
You're right.
You're right about that.
My question is on the NIO.
I'm not, do they get a lump sum?
At the start of that?
Good question.
Good question.
I'll answer it at 11.
