Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:00 And for more, follow Timbo Slica Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on. A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman. Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hardway with your favorite therapist and host Keir Games. This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing. How many men carry a suit or armor? It signals to the world that you're not to be played with. And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to. Listen and learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
Starting point is 00:02:11 It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Kentucky Brandon.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Great Kentucky crowd here this morning in Louisville. Thanks to everybody for coming out. Getting ready for Cats in South Carolina, 3.30 kickoff tomorrow, pregame show. We'll start at 1130. Let's go over all the things happening, Drew, in Lexington tonight. There's all kinds of stuff going on. First of all, Kentucky in Penn State play volleyball at Memorial Coliseum. Two top ten teams, two teams that have a chance to both play in the final four in volleyball
Starting point is 00:03:11 are playing in Memorial. It is the first public. Everyone is welcome opening to the new Memorial Coliseum. So I would say to you, if you have nothing to do tonight, that would be a heck. of a game to go to. Probably the best volleyball game that will be in Lexington this year is Kentucky Penn State tonight. It's at 7 o'clock. So that's great. Jason Isbell is playing at Rupp Arena tonight, which are you going? There you go. So that's a big one. I mentioned the Petty Grass concert tonight. Also, there's an NFL game tonight, which we'll be showing at KS. Bar. It's on
Starting point is 00:03:50 Peacock, which I know a lot of, but Packers Eagles, which is a heck of a game for a Friday night. So a lot of stuff going on tonight. If any of those events you want to go to the bar, you should come by, but also just drew a big, big evening in Lexington, Kentucky this evening. UK has another top ten matchup in soccer over at the bell tonight, too, playing, I believe it's Wisconsin. That's right. That's right. UK Wisconsin. Two UK sports players.
Starting point is 00:04:15 Soccer. By the way, give a shout out. The team had kind of fallen apart, but the UK women. team now 6 and 0 in women's soccer for the first time. That's a round of applause for the first time and a long time after their win last year. And volleyball suffered that loss against Nebraska opened the season. They've won three cents. And I really need to add a top 10 win playing another marquee opponent. So that is a very cool, the UK Penn State volleyball, a big deal tonight. So a lot of stuff going on. All right. It is time for us to do as we will do every Friday to pick
Starting point is 00:04:45 our Draft Kings KSR Parlay. O for one. Don't let that. discourage you. Just to just try again. We're going to hit one this year. Don't you want to be a part of it? You know what, Ryan? We hit one last year. That was pretty good. We got hot in the NBA. Yeah, well, for college football, we hit one. We're going to hit week two. I am going to go first. You can call this the lockdown, flip it, and reverse it lock of the week. Oh, boy. All right. Iowa minus three at home against Iowa State. guaranteed. I'm putting my lunch money, Shannon's lunch money,
Starting point is 00:05:24 Mario's paycheck on Iowa. Mario, you better hope we win. You will be eating lunch. I know you want to get the September 15th paycheck. You better be rooting on the Hawkeyes. Iowa minus three over Iowa State is my entry into the KSR parley. Shannon, what is yours? How about Auburn minus 12 over California?
Starting point is 00:05:47 I like that one, actually. Yeah, I'm taking Auburn. I think that's a good one. Auburn at home, minus 12 over California. I did see a California fan posted on social media coming to the Auburn game. Is there any bar I can go to that would have no Trump signs? And Auburn fans responded, don't show up. And I was like, you know, dude, you got a know when to fold them.
Starting point is 00:06:15 That's not something I would post on social media if I'm a Cal fan. a clash of culture. Cal Berkeley and Auburn, Alabama. That is quite a clash. What about you, right? So we got Iowa and Auburn, what's yours? I'm going to take Alabama 31 points over South Florida. You know, South Florida almost beat them last year.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Not this year. It's a new team. You're going to cover the 30, of all the games, you're taking a 31 point Alabama cover? I feel really good about it. There goes to Drew, we don't even need your pick. We already lost it.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Stop. All right. He's in. How much? Do you feel it strong? Oh, yeah. When did you know these two teams were playing? Just like five minutes ago.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Okay. Was this before or after the vertigo bout? Vertigo still kind of, we're working, kicking my butt a little bit. All right. All right. So Alabama, but we're doing it. Drew, what do you like? I have a few things I like, but for the parlay,
Starting point is 00:07:18 I'm taking Texas to cover in Ann Arbor, which sounds crazy. But Michigan's offense struggles, and they will not be able to keep up with Texas in that game. Texas is a seven-point favorite. Touchdown favorite. So we got Texas, Alabama, Auburn, and Iowa. We'll get it put up later this afternoon. And then join us because when we win, you know, I'll tell you what. If we win the parlay, if we win the parley and win the UK game,
Starting point is 00:07:48 I'll pay for a drink for everybody that comes to the park. Oh, nice. Oh, right. Wait, and that deserves more applause than that, right? I mean, come on. The students took me for a ride last night when it came to the 30% off. But we got to win the parlay. I think we will.
Starting point is 00:08:04 I love the fact that you put that out there for the students. They took advantage of it. They took advantage of it. It was supposed to be a test. How well does social media work when you're giving people a discount? Well, it works pretty good. Probably better than I would have. Probably better than I would have hoped.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Two is up next. Kentucky Cat is up next. Kentucky Cat, how are you? How's it going, guys? Good. This stuff like what happened to Ryan last year and happened to Drew and stuff. I took my dad to the UK game. Luckily, a couple years ago, South Carolina we played.
Starting point is 00:08:37 I had to buy South Carolina seats in their section. Well, there happened to be four UK guys there, you know, fans. They were younger, kind of drunker than heck. and they was the most disrespectful. Yeah, well, I didn't want cuss. I understand. Thank you. And they was very disrespectful.
Starting point is 00:08:55 There was a family that there from South Carolina. I felt so embarrassed to be a U.K. fan. But a man and woman, they had their two little kids. And these four U.K. students, like, I guess, was cussing and I carry it on and the stooping and hollering. And, you know, the guy said, hey, guys, if y'all don't mind, would you stop me on the cussing around my kids here? And they run those guys, their family up out of there,
Starting point is 00:09:15 kept cussing, torment on stuff. I just don't want them to keep doing, we're better than they are, you know, and it shouldn't be like that. We're better. We're going to kick their tail. And don't cuss them. Yeah. Well, no, they'll be a decent. No, I agree.
Starting point is 00:09:29 There'll be a decent amount of South Carolina fans. I appreciate the call. Generally speaking, we have Drew. If you ask other SEC fan bases, we generally have a good reputation in football, not so much basketball, but in football for being a fan base that other teams like. if you were to rank the three football fan bases in the SEC that you think have the most obnoxious fans, Tennessee is clearly number one.
Starting point is 00:09:57 Who's number two? Is South Carolina number two? I don't have to think about it. You know, we used to be a little cordial when they were winning all the time, but once Stoops flipped the script in that series and Kentucky won several in a row, I think they took offense to it, go around punching our radio hosts.
Starting point is 00:10:13 We've been to basketball games where they're a little out of control. I feel like they don't get enough credit for being terrible humans in Columbia. Yeah, I might put South Carolina second as well. If you're just talking about sort of negative, Tennessee is in a whole other stratosphere. But if you're talking about SEC, and it's probably in part because the games with them are more competitive, so it's probably that is what it is. You know, third for me is hard. I kind of, yeah, George is interesting because I don't know why they bark.
Starting point is 00:10:48 You walk past them No, I mean, if any of you ever been a game at Georgia? You know this. You just walk with your Kentucky shirt. You just walk and they just go, right, and they'll hold each other back with their belt. They'll literally, like, they will get on all fours, and the person behind them will grab their collar, like they're keeping them from, like, please don't film this, Mario. Like they're keeping them from scratching. It's weird, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:11:15 It's weird. You were just walking down the sidewalk. the people are just barking at you as you go by. I would put Mississippi State in the conversation. They're redneck with their redneck, what are they? Redneck country bumpkin, trailer trash. Oh, wow. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Starting point is 00:11:30 They are nasty people down there. Have you been punched there? No. We ain't putting that up, all right? I don't want to listen to them. I would say that cowbells alone make them the most obnoxious. That's a good point, though. Top three.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Cowbells. Yeah. So you're going to go, Tennessee one, South Carolina, two, Mississippi State, three? I think that's a good list. I mean, I think part of it is Alabama, LSU, those teams kind of in a different stratosphere, so they don't really talk trash to us. It seems like we're kind of picking teams that, for the most part, we're kind of like dealing with a lot.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Florida feels like the second biggest rival on the field these days, but we don't have many interactions with their fans. It doesn't seem like they travel that well up here. Of course, we all know they're in their basements in central Florida right now in this season. So I feel like Florida's teams higher on the list, but they're fans. I don't have as much of it. I don't know if you saw that Mark Story wrote that, so there's one more year of scheduling
Starting point is 00:12:25 the way they scheduled this year, which was just kind of random. And then starting the next year, they're going to do the thing where you play one team every year. That looks to be the case. We're going to probably have eight conference games and one regular opponent, and ours is going to be South Carolina. So the only team we will play every single year. starting next year is going to be South Carolina.
Starting point is 00:12:52 I mean, I actually think Kentucky gets a pretty good draw with that. We could have gotten a lot worse team in that, or a lot harder team. But, Ryan, what do you think about the fact that South Carolina is probably going to be the yearly team for Kentucky football going into the future? You know, you're right. You look at the landscape of the SEC. If you're going to pick a team that you want to, if you're going to play every year, the thing you should beat every year. South Carolina has got to be in that conversation. You're a better program than there.
Starting point is 00:13:15 You should beat them every year. But everybody else left, so like when they divide it up, everyone's arrival really except us in South Carolina. It's Alabama, Auburn play every year, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Vandy, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, A&M in Texas, Arkansas, no, A&M and Oklahoma, excuse me, it's Texas and Oklahoma. It is, what, A&M and LSU, Arkansas and Missouri. and then the one that's left it just leaves us with South Carolina because there's nobody else left. I think we'd be glad to have that.
Starting point is 00:13:52 You look at the last decade outside of the games where Kentucky didn't have a quarterback and then the turnovers last year, Kentucky's been the much better team, have a much better record in that series. I think right now they're in a better spot moving forward. Heck, Beamer might not even be the coach at the end of this season. So that's going to become your permanent opponent.
Starting point is 00:14:08 I'd like a team that's in shambles. If you don't like Beamer, which I don't, to not, tomorrow could get him fired. I mean, at the end of the year, I mean, he won't be fired tomorrow, but if we beat them and then they go four and eight or five and seven, it might, they might look back and go, this was the game that he lost that got him fired. Yeah, he lucked into two against Stoops.
Starting point is 00:14:29 He's actually two and one against Stoops. I said one was the Kai-as-Rone game where we turned it over on the reverse. Was that the first play? Yeah. And then last year, Kentucky just beat themselves up. I think it's important for Stoops to get him back. And then I'm with you. That could mark the end at the end of the year.
Starting point is 00:14:42 Who's up next? Same thing for Billy Napier. He's getting fired anyway, but he might literally, they have a bye week after they play us. They might, he might literally get fired after that game. Who's next? Paul is up next. Po, go ahead, Poe. Hey, good day, guys.
Starting point is 00:14:59 What's up? Ryan, I hope you feel better, buddy, soon. Thank you. I was, I've been waiting a while on here, and you were talking about guys with goggles that were good. And I was thinking back when I was growing up, there was a, a college player for Memphis State named Elliot Perry, who was a... Oh, that's right. I remember Elliot Perry.
Starting point is 00:15:21 Yeah, when I was a kid, I loved Elliot Perry because he wore goggles, and I was like, I could be Elliott Perry. I couldn't, but I thought I could. Had a steady pro career, too. I mean, it was good. Good call. I just wanted to say that and say, go cats, and you guys have a great weekend. Appreciate it.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth?

Starting point is 00:18:18 Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of us. the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant this went to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history.
Starting point is 00:19:00 You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Life throws hurdles big and small. The question is, how do you conquer them? On hurdle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness,
Starting point is 00:19:28 professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going from the WNBA standout, Kate Martin and rising hockey star Laila Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't feel on. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeki.
Starting point is 00:19:54 The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:20:23 Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio, an absolutely packed house here at Kentucky Brandon in Louisville. Mario is filming everybody. We just finished our KSR Parlay. I want to tell you all, before we get back to the phones, something that I bet nobody in here knows. but I found to be an interesting fact. ABC News
Starting point is 00:21:20 last week did a story that I didn't see any coverage on. Maybe it was there and I just missed it. But do you all know, according to ABC News, they've done a statistic. Do you know the place in America with the most, the highest percentage of its population prescribed OZMPIC?
Starting point is 00:21:39 You know, OZIMPIC is the weight loss drug. And OZMPIC, do you know the city that has the high in America. There is no city in America where more of the people are prescribed OZIPIC than this place. ABC News sent a crew there to find out why
Starting point is 00:21:58 and they did a whole story. Don't say it. Did you see the story? Don't say it. I want to see if they can guess. Can any of you, obviously, it's in Kentucky or I wouldn't bring it up, where do you think it is?
Starting point is 00:22:11 I'm going to say right here in Louisville. You can say Louisville. What about you? I'm going to say Harlan. Harlan. I know the answer, so I'll sit this one out. You know the answer. Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:22:22 Bowling Green. Bowling Green Kentucky, one out of every 120 residents is prescribed Ozimic. Wow. That's a lot. I mean, if you think about it, I think it's like points, it's now 0.6.7% of the population is prescribed olympic. They showed, like, when you drive into town, and we're going to. to be in Bowling Green next week. And so we'll see, I want to look at this.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Do we get free Ozypick when we come here? I don't know. We're all going to lose weight magically. But like, apparently there are like spas that are set up in Bowling Green that are only for Ozympic. Wow. And they basic, and ABC News called Bowling Green the Ozimic capital of the United States. People don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:08 Ozimic's a weight loss. It started as a diabetes drug, but it's now become like a weight loss drug. I was shocked, Drew. You're from down close to there. Were you surprised that Bowling Green is Oz? I mean, I would have thought it would have been like Hollywood or something. I would have never imagined bowling green. Yeah, I read the news story about it.
Starting point is 00:23:25 They had like a map of a graphic with all the cities, and it's a lot of the ones you'd guess. But then Bowling Green's this big blob right in the middle of Kentucky on the map. So I would be fascinated how that happened. Because you're right, the other cities are all on the coast. If you go look, the other cities are basically like where rich people live close to L.A. the suburbs of New York, the suburbs of Boston where rich people live, and then Bowling Green. We got to get to the bottom of this next week.
Starting point is 00:23:52 Ryan, why do you? Did the report give any kind of indication? They just said there's a ton of, they did not seem to be able to trace what was the first reason. They show that there's a ton of spas and things there, but they couldn't, they didn't say what the first reason was. Someone in Bowling Green has to know why there's so much OZMPIC, and I'm fascinated, Ryan, to find out what it is. You've got us all curious now. What's the reason behind Bowling Green being number one? So if you know, 772-774-554 in the text machine or call in because I have to tell you,
Starting point is 00:24:24 that was one of the few news stories that had me glued to the entire thing is wise Bowling Green all on skinny drugs. What's next? Got Aaron up next. Aaron. Go ahead, Aaron. Who's the same a man, Joan? How you doing, Aaron?
Starting point is 00:24:40 I'm good. I'm ready for the ball game tomorrow. I got off work yesterday. Went to Kroger. We got $70 and got a receipt. So I can go to that. You got, hang on just a second. So you got, say that again.
Starting point is 00:24:53 You went to Kroger to get $70 worth of what? Receipts to get you in the tailgating in the Krober field. There's a Kroger tailgate sponsored by Kroger. Oh, there's a Kroger tailgate. And if you spent $70 at Kroger, you can get in it? Yeah, I got $70. Oh, and free food.
Starting point is 00:25:11 Okay. All right. Well, that's kind of cool. So, good deal. So you're going to the game, good. All day buffet and adults with two beers. I got a feeling you're going to use that all day buffet, Aaron. I'm feeling it.
Starting point is 00:25:25 Well, good. That sounds like a good Saturday. Yep. Have a good weekend. Go cash. I appreciate you. There you go. I like it.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Aaron just wants us to know. He's going to the Kroger buffet. So he bought $70 of food to get more free food. That's a good idea. Well, if you need the same. Yeah, if you need the food. If you need the food anyway, you might as well get it to go to the game. We're sold out tomorrow, right?
Starting point is 00:25:50 For the game? There's still a couple of teams. They just released some or were encouraging fans to buy some yesterday. I don't know how quick. I'm a little surprised for a 3.30 game that's as important as this one. I'm a little surprised, Ryan, that there are tickets available. I was very surprised when I heard that there were still tickets available. You think maybe we had fatigue from last week with all the delays, the people that went out to the game?
Starting point is 00:26:12 going well i mean i know the georgia game and and there's a couple games that are already sold out preseason i'm just surprised south carolina wasn't one of them i would have thought uh i would have thought a 3 30 start that would be because i actually think 3 30 is the best time for a game i mean i don't know what you i think 3 30's perfect because you get some time to tailgate you get some time to hang out then you got time after the game i actually think 330 is the perfect time yeah i got on there to buy the tickets i don't know if they just released them But it was only the upper level, like far over to a corner. So, I mean, there weren't many left and they weren't great seats.
Starting point is 00:26:49 So it should be close to sell out if they don't sell those. Do you worry at all, Ryan? You know, there was the weird fatigue of the game last week. Do you worry whether the crowd will be into it or do you think it'll be a rowdy environment tomorrow? I'm kind of like you. There's so much on this game. We've talked about all summer how this was the biggest game on the schedule. This is the one Kentucky had to have.
Starting point is 00:27:07 I would think the crowd and the fan base would be overly excited. How many of you are going tomorrow? All right, so a lot of the people here are going. That's a big part of the crowd. Remember, we're opening the bar at 10 tomorrow. If we win, just as a heads up, if we win, I'm going to do the postgame show at the bar tomorrow night. If we lose, I'll sit in my house and be depressed with Billy and do it. But if we win, I'll be at the bar afterwards for post-game.
Starting point is 00:27:34 Tomorrow is the kind of game that if we win, you find football players and coaches wondering their way in, usually after the game. like a 3.30 game, you want to see a Vince Merrill Biden celebratory shots, plus he's got a new contract to celebrate as well. Tomorrow night would be the kind of time it would happen. What's next? KJ is up next. KJ. How are you, KJ? I'm good, Matt.
Starting point is 00:27:57 How are you all? First time, long time. Who are? Brock's going to throw for $250 tomorrow. He's going to have three touchdown, two in the air, one on the ground. And regarding the best athlete with goggle, I'm going to. with Michael Phelps, that number two. I don't, swimmers don't count.
Starting point is 00:28:16 I mean, come on. Oh, they have to count. You got it. No, swimmers do not count. They all have to wear it. That's not, that's like I say in a jockey. That's not the same. You can't do that.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Appreciate the call. Let me set the over under of Brock Van degriff passing yards at 2.39. Does he hit it tomorrow? I think he does. I think they're going to be a pass-heavy offense. tomorrow. 239, you're saying over. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:44 What about you, right? I'm also going to take the over on that. It's a good number, though. I like that number. I'm going to go under, but I think they're going to have a lot of success running the ball. So I have him under on his passing, but whatever you want to set for his rushing line, which, by the way, last week it was 15 yards. We should have hammered that.
Starting point is 00:28:59 If it's anything like that, again, it's going way over. Vandergriff was 15 yards? Yeah, that's over. But remember, if he takes a sack, that counts his rushing yards. I set the line, so obviously I said it right where I thought it would be in the middle. I'm going to go over. I think he hits. I think he hits.
Starting point is 00:29:17 I'll put it like this. If he hits over, we're winning the game because our defense is not going to allow the level of points to where South Carolina could beat us if we threw for 240 yards. So I'm going to say if we hit the over, we win the game. We'll take a break. And be right back here at Kentucky Brandon. This is KSR. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:29:40 A goggle person we forgot, Ryan Lemon. Former cat, Ed Davinder. Oh, that's a good one. Yeah, rest in peace, Ed Davener. Absolutely. Ed Daviner wore goggles. All right, so getting some answers here, Shannon, on Ozempic. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:54 So apparently what some people are saying is in most of Nashville, it's sold out. You can't get it. And a lot of people from Nashville drive to Bowling Green to get their OZMPIC. That's what one person's suggestion is. a lot more sense. I never thought of Bowling Green as being like, you know, the... It's not that far from Nashville, right? The overweight city of Kentucky, but being close to Nashville makes sense. But doesn't have to just be overweight. It can be like people, you know, there are people who need to lose 20 pounds that take it. Here's another thing I didn't know.
Starting point is 00:30:24 Did you know this? Somebody sent me a stat. The city with the third most per capita restaurants in America is Bowling Green. Fast food? No, everything. Oh, okay. They have 700 restaurants. restaurants in Bowling. They've always claimed to have the most restaurants per capita in Kentucky. They have the third most restaurants per capita in the United States. Wow. I could also answer your ozpic question. So my idea of putting KS Bar in Bowling Green we won't hold for our OZIPIC store. They may not need any more any more things. Tell me about Stockton Mortgage. Stockton Mortgage, you know, it's always a good time to buy, especially right now. The fall buying season is really hitting hard. So if you're thinking about new construction, thinking about just buying a home, cash out refinance,
Starting point is 00:31:13 building that new deck on the back of your house, Stockton Mortgage can help you. If they're easy to work with, they go to Stockton.com, hit the Get Start button. You'll get assigned a loan officer. They'll stay with you throughout the whole process, get to the closing table. Oh, yeah. You don't want to do those online people. I don't like doing it online. You talk to different people every time you call, and you can't get a statement.
Starting point is 00:31:29 Wait on hold. Not a Stockton Mortgage. So go to Stockton Mortgage, NMLS, A259, Equal Housing Lender. Calm down, man. I get excited about Stockton Mortgage. You need to slow down. just a little bit. Today is John Wall's birthday. Happy birthday
Starting point is 00:31:41 to John Wall. Besides the dance, give me your favorite John Wall memory, Shannon. I believe, didn't. No, that was Brandon Knight. I was trying to remember. Well, so it sounds like he really made an impression. Dunk against North Carolina and referees. Dunk against North Carolina. I was going to say
Starting point is 00:31:58 the buzzer-beater to beat somebody in the tournament. Miami-Bohio. Oh, yeah. Yeah, Miami-Bohlehy's first game. That was Brandon night. Yeah. Also, what about the, I always think of him and DeMarcus hugging after the shot at the buzzer against Mississippi State where they thought they had beat them in the SEC tournament, but they actually were just going to overtime.
Starting point is 00:32:17 I always think about that one. You could pick any game. There's always that one moment in a game where he just put it in a different gear and went right down the middle and just blew past everybody. He was so fast. Maybe the fastest guy with the ball I've ever seen. That's what I remember about him. When you get a chance, if you get on YouTube and go look at clips from 2010,
Starting point is 00:32:36 And changes are made subtly that you don't realize are happening until you go back. Go look at how long their shorts were in 2010. Oh, yeah. Crazy. Like, it's not quite like it was even a few years. If you really want to see long shorts, go look at the Jody Meeks' Billy Gillespie teams. Yeah. They're wearing pants. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:58 They debuted new uniforms in Billy's first season, and they almost touch their shoes. They're wearing pants. Then you fast forward. The John Wall team. especially John Wall. His shorts are down under his knees, and now you got guys, it's now back to where they're kind of short. Like the 80s or something, or even before that.
Starting point is 00:33:16 But, like, that's the thing that strikes me when I watch those John Wall things, is they were wearing, like, long shorts, and it doesn't feel like that long ago. No, if you go back and look at any pictures or videos, shorts are the first thing, they'll jump out at you, and they were popular for a few years, but I don't know how you could run up and down in some of those things. I mean, they're almost like dresses.
Starting point is 00:33:35 They'll clump up on you. I know they're a little short now with the John Stockton look, but being an athlete, I wouldn't want to have all that fabric on me. Can I tell you something that will make you feel a little bit old? Jasper Johnson, they asked him who his childhood, childhood hero was at Kentucky? Devin Booker. Wow. Wow.
Starting point is 00:34:01 Devin Booker. That's true. He would have been, what, eight and nine years old when Booker was playing? Childhood. said he didn't remember watching John Wong, too young. Yeah. I'm just saying, I think Mario makes me feel old. Good night.
Starting point is 00:34:18 Going to that Morgan and Morgan Press conference, that made me feel old. What's next? U-turn is next. You turn. How are you? Doing well, Matt. Thank you. Oh, well, good for her.
Starting point is 00:34:47 You haven't lost any? Called in about wanting the grandkids name or whatever. My grandfather's name. was French because he could not stand the name. And third final, the win, and where are you? We will be at, they're opening the new draft King sports book at the Mint on Thursday. So, so we will be there Thursday of next week in Bowling Green. We're staying Wednesday night, but we will be there Thursday.
Starting point is 00:35:25 All right, appreciate you coming. Thank you very, appreciate the call. Yes, at the Mint. Yeah, 100 pounds. That's a lot. two people from Bowling Green. They add to that part of the population. Obviously it works. I mean, people keep taking it. Well, it didn't work for him.
Starting point is 00:35:39 It works for her. But they have an average of 50 pounds. That's pretty good. Who's next? Brandon is up next. Brandon. Go ahead, Brandon. Man, I died a little inside with that Booker comment. Me too. Devin Booker childhood. I remember when people
Starting point is 00:35:55 were licking his cars, it felt like it was yesterday. So I've got two guys for the goggle. Well, maybe one and a half guys for the goggle thing. just now tuned in, so I may have somebody already mentioned it, but one is Kurt Rambus from the Lakers. Yeah, we mentioned that one, yeah. All right, the other one is not really goggles, but it's like Greg Maddox back in the day wore those waspy horn rims when he would be.
Starting point is 00:36:18 Yeah, so there you go, a braves guy. Greg Maddox, he looked like a librarian out there. That's right. Yeah, setting people down, yeah. Yeah, I appreciate. Go ahead. Appreciate the call. There's a video if you like baseball.
Starting point is 00:36:32 I'm sure some of you are listening. There's a video I saw. It's about five minutes long. And it's Greg Maddox, Shannon, and Barry Bonds. And they're talking about an app bat they had against each other. And it's Maddick's talking about how he was deciding what to throw. And it's Bonds talking about how he was thinking about what he would throw. And listening to it, I won't spoil it.
Starting point is 00:36:56 But it gets to a three-two count. And each of them are talking about how they were trying to. to set up the other one, and it is, you're listening to two people who obviously have great baseball minds. Everybody thinks of Barry Bonds is this steroid dude, but he was also really, really smart. And the two of them talking, if you like baseball, you need to find the video. It's fascinating. Here's something people don't know about Greg Maddox, and I learned about probably from the same show that you're talking about on a different video. He would call his own games based on how he would catch the ball from the catcher.
Starting point is 00:37:29 What do you mean how he would catch? So if, like, he caught the ball and, like, brought it in, next pitch is going to be a change-up. If he caught the ball and, like, swooped it down, like, to his left side, fastball. Got pulled away to the right. Yeah. Oh, he would be making signals to the catcher. So how he would, yeah, he was going to call his next pitch based on how he received the ball.
Starting point is 00:37:48 Well, I think it was Javier. He's like, you know, we usually have the signs. Maddox had the signs that he would give the catcher. That's interesting. Well, if you like the Braves or if you like that error, if you just like baseball, I was sitting there, listen to him, and I was thinking, these two dudes are thinking on a different level.
Starting point is 00:38:05 And at the end of it, Maddick said, Barry Bonds is the greatest hitter of all time. He goes, I felt like I could outsmart everyone in baseball except him. He was the only person that I felt was smarter than me when it came to baseball, which I thought was really interesting. Who's next? Matt is up next. Matt, go ahead, Matt, which is why, by the way, he should be in the hall.
Starting point is 00:38:27 I agree. It's ridiculous that he's not. Matt, go ahead. Hey guys. First of all, I'm from Paducah, and the Olympic thing is real. Let's be a West Kentucky thing. There's another one called Monjaro, I think, or Monjaro, something like that. And I can name 200 people in Paduca that are taking one of those two things.
Starting point is 00:38:44 So what is it with Western Kentucky? Are you all just trying to feel good about ourselves? We're just a little weight. Is there like a Western Kentucky beauty thing happening that I didn't know? Winners coming up. That's cuffing season for a lot of people. You just want to have your best. You walk the Central City and everybody's just flaunting it everywhere.
Starting point is 00:39:00 I don't know if Central City is tapped into the OZific yet. Sounds like Paducah. But go ahead, sir. Yeah, no, I tried to get on it, and my BMI was like 1% too low. But anyway, I was at the game last week, and I'm coming this weekend. But I had to comment, during the delay, my sons and I went down from the top, and we stood in the court for some people to lead down low in case they could take their seats. And to see the cameraman in the corner was a college student with a name tag,
Starting point is 00:39:28 and his buddy was laying across the wheelchair access seats, goofing around, and they let us sit there. But to think that that is the feed, I actually thought, as I was watching them, with the camera everywhere and laugh and giggle and, you know, goof around. I thought, how in the world, who's going to watch this? To think that that was the live feed. It was over the thing. Yeah, I think people, I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:39:50 You ought to go back and watch the first three or four minutes when they switched to the next feed. it is clear to me that the UK people did not know it was going over television. Go back and watch it. Like the play would happen, and then the camera like just starts moving up and down. Thought the cameraman got drunk or something. And then it would just zoom in on a random student. And it was like, somebody needs to get in their ear and say this is going over the air.
Starting point is 00:40:18 Ryan, it was really strange. Apparently the SEC Network truck had no communication with the UK guys that were running those cameras. So they took the feed without the UK guys not knowing that they were on live SDZ Network TV. Go watch it. That's dangerous. That's what I was going to say. That could have gone a lot worse if they weren't careful. So anyway, UK Federal Credit Union, it is September.
Starting point is 00:40:42 And as soon as my internet works, I'll tell you about UK Federal Credit Union. The official credit union of the University of Kentucky serving the UK since 1937 from a student to a graduate to an employee. UK Federal Credit Union is here for you. It was named Forbes' best in state credit union in America. That's pretty good. That's very good. I mean, how many credit unions do you think there are in America? A bunch.
Starting point is 00:41:05 Well, I mean, each state has one. So 50. There's more credit unions than that? But state credit unions. Yeah. 50. Supporting students and teaching good money management. It is UK federal credit unions, biggest initiative.
Starting point is 00:41:26 is banking only better at UK Federal Credit Union. We'll take a break. Give away some Kentucky, South Carolina, take it some more. This is KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying,

From the WNBA standout, Kate Martin, and rising hockey star, Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't.
Starting point is 00:44:51 Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel. like you don't belong. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladecki. The ability to show gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
Starting point is 00:45:58 I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Final segment, Katz in South Carolina tomorrow. Let me go over again the schedule of the day. Our KS bar opens at 10 a.m. An hour earlier than usual.
Starting point is 00:46:20 Come on in. It's going to be our regular food. But you know what? Who doesn't want wings at 10 a.m.? I eat wings at any hour. You can drink the NIL beer at 10. AM, what are you worried about? You get there at 10, you're guaranteed a spot.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Our pregame show starts at 1130. The Catwalk is at 1. Is that right? Two hours and 15 minutes. Cat walks at 1, 15. Yes. The buses will start running from KS Bar at 1. Game is at 3.30 on ABC.
Starting point is 00:46:46 So everybody, that's the first game we've probably had on ABC and ever. I'm not sure we've. Maybe we played Louisville maybe once on ABC back when it, but we play on ABC, and then I'll do the postgame show if we win. Well, I'll do the post game show either way. If we win, it'll be from the bar, and that'll probably be 738-ish. So that's kind of what we're looking at. Big-time game, we'll make our predictions in a minute.
Starting point is 00:47:13 I created the KSR Celebrity Survivor League. We have 50 people in it. The last person to sign up was Patrick Tolls. He took the last spot. Derek Abney is in it as well. We got 50 people. A friend of mine created a spreadsheet. She spelled some of the words because she said my writing was so bad
Starting point is 00:47:33 and she didn't know who the people were. But we fixed it. And now everybody's in there. Like 20 of the people have made picks, but it's time for us to make our picks. Shannon, for people who don't know how to Survivor League works, you pick an NFL team, all they have to do is win and you move on, but then you can never pick that team again. So you pick one team to win this week.
Starting point is 00:47:56 All they got to do is win, but you can never pick them again. Shannon, what team are you picking? I'm taking Cincinnati. You're taking the Bengals, all right? I'll do a hand yours off there to them. I will be a spoiler. I'm going to go ahead and pick the Bengals as well. Bingles play the Patriots.
Starting point is 00:48:12 That's going to be my team. The only time I can pick them this entire year. Ryan. I love my boy, Devin Key, made the Broncos roster. I may start for the Broncos against the Seahawks, but I'm picking him to lose. I'm picking Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks are your pick.
Starting point is 00:48:26 Just so you know, the only other people that have picked that from Barstool, Brandon Walker and Randall Cobb pick the Seahawks. I trust Randall Cobb. Good choice. Most people, by the way, have picked the Bengals or one other team. So I will let you figure that out. Billy, what do you got? I'm fading the Panthers, so I'm going to New Orleans Saints at home against Carolina.
Starting point is 00:48:47 You're taking the Saints. Yes. You are the first person that has taken the Saints of the teams I've gotten so far. Well, good. All right, hand that to him. Drew, who you got? I want to say bingles, but I'll be different and go with the Buffalo Bills. They host Arizona from the Buffalo Bills.
Starting point is 00:49:03 Myr and Metcalfe, Stefania Ball, Congressman Andy Barr are all on the same team as you. They all pick the bills as well. And Mario, what is your pick? I'm going with the L.A. Chargers. Oh, you're taking the Chargers over the Raiders. You are the first person so far who has taken the Chargers. So there you go. So those are our picks to use celebrities out there.
Starting point is 00:49:27 I'm sure you're not listening. But if you are, you better get your picks into me before Saturday night at midnight. Who's next? Joe is up next. Joe, go ahead, Joe. Hey, guys. How you doing? Doing good.
Starting point is 00:49:41 May I please ask, how do I find your parlay on drafting? Well, it has to go up first. It's not up yet. Are you in Kentucky? I am not. Okay, if you're not in Kentucky, it takes a little digging. You click on college football and look for it. If you're in Kentucky, when it goes up, it'll be on the front page of your app.
Starting point is 00:50:02 But if you're not in Kentucky, it is kind of hard to find that. So hopefully you'll find it. Well, it's not like in a pool where I have to enter KSR or something about just just slow and find it. No, we're going to have. It's on the CFB tab and scroll as far to the right as possible. It's on the CFB tab, and you just keep scrolling and you'll find it. If you're in Kentucky, it'll be one of your first two or three.
Starting point is 00:50:22 All right, thank you. But I will say this. This tells you how many fans Kentucky has. Usually by the time the game starts, only a handful of them are bet more than us, even though Ryan is part of it. People still do it. What's next?
Starting point is 00:50:41 Got Mike up next. Mike, go ahead, Mike. Hey, guys, Mike from Louisville. Coach Cowell famously said he should have left after 10 years. and Mark Stoops now has 12 under his belt. Do you think the same thing applies to football coaches? No, I don't. I think basketball is a different beast here.
Starting point is 00:51:02 Expectations are so high. I mean, I think Stoops needs a good year just to keep the fan momentum going, but I kind of think, and I appreciate to call Drew, do you agree? Football's a different beast here. I think the expectations are different than with basketball. Yeah, it doesn't age you in dog years like Cal would always say, But I don't think Stoop has a whole lot left. I mean, 12 is still a long time, even though it is different than basketball.
Starting point is 00:51:25 And with his family history, people retiring early, I don't know how much longer that window will be. I think it'll be two to three years, and then we'll probably be looking at a different coach. Also, NFL starts Sunday. Just a reminder, we'll have Bingles watch parties every stay. And I think they play Sunday at one will be our first one. All right, let's do the Cats in South Carolina. Kentucky's a 10-point favorite at home, ABC, national television, a must, must-win game. Shannon, give me the score in the MVP.
Starting point is 00:51:59 I think Kentucky covers. Brock has a big game, 27, 13 cats. I'm going to go with Barry on Brown as my MVP. Barry on Brown, Ryan. Kentucky, 21. I'm going to say 31. 31 to 10. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:52:12 Yeah, 31 to 10. Danky starts his Heism. You don't get to say pick, Danky. We made that rule, remember? And he picked Beron, so I guess I'll pick Macklin. Macklin, go. I also have 2713. Brock Vanneger is my MVP, but he's using his legs a lot to get there.
Starting point is 00:52:27 20. Well, you and I are always so close. I'm going to go 2717. I think it's a push. Kentucky wins, and I will take Dionne Walker. We'll have a massive game for the cats. Thank you all very much. Where's Michael Durrett?
Starting point is 00:52:43 Michael Durant, you win two tickets to Kentucky, South Carolina and a parking pass. Nice. Thank you all very much to all of you listening. I'll see you at 1130 for the pregame show with this crew and Max Duffy. Thanks to Kentucky Brandon. Louisville Eat It. We get more people than you even in your city.
