Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headlines. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories,
Starting point is 00:00:52 their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to Sports Slice on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slica Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Life is full of hurdles. So how do you keep going? On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we're talking with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness from professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions about the challenges that shape them and the mindset that keeps them moving forward. At our level, at this scale, being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the Iheart radio app.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on. A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman. Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me?
Starting point is 00:02:00 Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host, Keer Games. This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing. How many men carry a suit or armor. It signals to the world that you not have to be played with. And just because you have the capability that does not. mean that you need to listen to learn the hard way on the iha radio app apple podcast or wherever you
Starting point is 00:02:36 get your podcast welcome to hour two of kentucky sports radio presented by stockton mortgage now here's matt jones welcome back it is kentucky sports radio 859 280220287 here at the ks bar come on out and join us already got some folks here from mount washington the guy said he uh knows shannon and you got a guy from Owensboro. Another couple just walked in. I don't know where they're from, but I won't interrogate them live on the air. Goose is here. That's his seat. They almost have him planted right there. I like it. You know, Shannon and I, we're having some TV problems that hopefully are going to get fixed today. We think they will. But it has caused every television in this bar to be stuck on the view, which is not what most sports bars would have on right now. We had to put it on Monday night football last night,
Starting point is 00:03:27 and we had to lock it in, and we can't get it fixed until today. But now we have the view on every screen. So I do wonder, when people come in, I don't want you to think, like, we all, it's KSR. They're always showing the view. This is not what we normally do, Drew, but that's what's on right now.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Who's on there? People compare us to the view. Or who's on there still? I don't know. Joy. Joy Behar, I think Whoopi, and then I don't know who these other women. are that are on it.
Starting point is 00:03:55 I mean, it's a bold move by a sports bar to have a view on during the lunch hour. One person writes, I want to know from the group. You already said about the debate, are they watching it? Brian, yes or no? Absolutely not. No way. All right, that's two knows. What about you, Drew?
Starting point is 00:04:11 No, wouldn't even know what it was going on if you hadn't have brought it up. Shannon. You know what? I'm going to surprise you. I'm going to at least watch some of it. I don't know that I thought you would. I thought you would. I think they're actually kind of entertained.
Starting point is 00:04:23 I'm not big into politics, but I think it's kind of entertaining. Yeah, I thought I actually would have predicted that Shannon would have. So the big controversy going into this one was whether or not that the mic should be on. Well, I mean, they need to be on at some point or you won't be able to hear it. But there was a disagreement about whether or not the mic should be on when it's not your turn to talk. So they are turning the candidates' mics off when it's not their turn so they can't, interrupt each other. Do you like that? I would think the Harris camp would want the mics on.
Starting point is 00:05:00 Well, that's what it was. So when it was Biden-Trump, Trump wanted the mics on, Biden didn't. Now, when it flipped, Harris wants the mics on. Trump doesn't, but they ended up agreeing on not having them on. So do you like that? No, I kind of wanted to hear, that's the good part when you hear Trump say the stuff underneath his breath when it's not his. turn to talk. But he was the one that wanted it off. I'm surprised. Yeah. I think it's probably
Starting point is 00:05:28 his people don't want him to like ramble or something. I just say, yes, I don't know. Yeah, from just an entertainment standpoint, I like them to be able to speak freely because you just don't know when they'll butt in. They start arguing back and forth and yelling at each other. Well, Shaining, you can give us the official report tomorrow since the rest of us will not be watching it. All right, two things I went to go to. First of all, I guess I'll start Well I'll start with the serious one Then go to the stupid one
Starting point is 00:05:57 Did you see the video That came out with the Tyreek Hill thing? Yes What'd you think? It looks like that The police officers got some explaining to do Which one? The one that kicked him
Starting point is 00:06:09 Kicked him in the legs and threw him down? Yeah Yeah What about you? What'd you think? Yeah, I think the cop went too far But Tyreek also wasn't exactly innocent on his end
Starting point is 00:06:20 Rowling the window up And it just seemed like could have gone better both ways, really. I think the cop certainly took it too far. Yeah. I'm more on Ryan's side than yours. The cop that comes up second, like leg sweeps him after they've already been through a lot. That was way too far.
Starting point is 00:06:36 See, I'm much more on Ryan's side than yours, because I think what ends up happening in this, in these situations is we see it and we go, well, they both could have acted differently. Well, clearly that's the case or we wouldn't be in this situation. but I actually don't really care how Tyreek acted because not because I think he's a good guy. Tyreek has a history. He probably is not the best guy. I think that's fairly clear if you go look at his history. But cops have to be able to handle people that aren't the best guy.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Right? That's the whole job. Like by its very nature, cops are dealing disproportionately with people who have done something. Yes. Right. That's why they're there. And, you know, should Tyreek have been rude or? fully rolled down. Yeah, I mean, he should have rolled down his window fully.
Starting point is 00:07:22 He shouldn't have been rude, but he's not the paid representative of the state. And if you're a cop, every time one of these happens, there's a policeman that writes me, and I always like when he does it, and I've kept his name, and I will continue to keep it. But he gives me his opinion, and sometimes he's very pro-cop, and sometimes he goes, this cop screwed up. He wrote me last night, and he was like, the people in your comments arguing about Tyree are completely wrong. He was like, cops, the nubes. The next. number one thing they're taught to do de-escalate the situation de-escalate it he was like if we went crazy every time somebody was rude to us or didn't do exactly what we said when we pulled him over
Starting point is 00:08:00 we'd be going crazy every single time we pulled somebody over you can't do that so to me and listen I talked about the cop Saturday night the people going after this manhunt think about how dangerous this is in eastern Kentucky and they're doing it like they deserve all the credit in the world prayers to all of them. That's hard because you know this dude's armed and you're looking for him, right? At the same side, you can't go around. I mean, it's 9 a.m. It's in a Lamborghini outside the stadium. He hands you his ID. It says Tyree kill. It ain't crazy to figure out maybe. Just chill. And you're right, Drew. He knees him in the back and knocks his legs out. And then when Tyreek says like, hey, man, I just had knee surgery, he said something like,
Starting point is 00:08:44 where you're about to have ear surgery, which doesn't even make sense. You're about to have ear surgery. What does that even mean? I don't understand that. It was... And then handcuffing the guys that were just kind of like what's going on here. Yeah. That comment alone when he goes, well, you're going to have ear surgery.
Starting point is 00:09:00 That shows me the dude was not in complete control of his emotions, Ryan. And as an officer, you have to be. And, you know, I saw the debate where, you know, Tyreek had said he was fully compliant and with the police officers, then the video services where he tried to roll the window up. Well, clearly he shouldn't have done that. But again... that doesn't give the excuse to the cops to, like, let's say they pull me over. Like, they pull me over and they go, we think you were speeding.
Starting point is 00:09:31 And I go, no, it wasn't. And they go, we think we are. And they say, roll down your window. And I go, all right, give me just a second. Maybe I should roll it down immediately. But then they can't just pull me out of the car and beat the crap out of me because I didn't do. And that's not what they did. but there's clearly a line.
Starting point is 00:09:48 And I think what Drew was saying, like, neying the guy in the back and sweeping his legs when he's already in handcuffs. At that point, they'd already gone through a little bit. He's standing on the sidewalk. That was way too far. And my thought about it, I don't feel sorry for Tyreek Hill because, again, go look at Tyreek's past. He's not the exemplary candidate.
Starting point is 00:10:05 But my thing is, if you're doing that to Tyree Kill and you're doing that to Scotty Sheffler, like, what about the average person? That's the only thing to me. They don't get their video put out. Yeah, it's going to say. If there's an average person, we would never have known about it. Nothing would ever come over. Which is why body cams are so important.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Body cams can exonerate police, too. You know, body cams can make it to where you see, like the first policeman. Okay? The body cam, I think, almost exonerates the first policeman. He came up and asked. He didn't overreact. I think the first policeman shouldn't get in trouble. I think the second one should because of the body cam.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Yeah, they, wait, too hostile, especially at the point where Tyreeks out of the car. And then, as I said, the other guys that are standing away just going, what's going on, I thought they're pretty aggressive with them. Yeah. Well, anyway, that video will be talked about a lot. Now, much less serious, Shannon. I want to tell you about a world championship sporting event.
Starting point is 00:11:03 I think you're going to like that I read about it. Okay. In Scotland, last weekend, they had an event that I didn't know existed, but I would go to if it were close by. the world championship of rock skipping. Oh, nice. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:21 They have an event where you take a rock and you try to skip it across the water and whoever can skip it the farthest wins. Now, I'm going to get you to guess in a minute. First of all, look for me meters to feet. How many meter, because I never know these things. How many meters are in a feet? One meter is 3.28 feet. One meter, okay, so now I'm doing the math. Okay, so the world record, now here's the rules.
Starting point is 00:11:51 It has to skim the water at least five times. Or you're seeing four times, at least four times. So knowing that, what do you think is the all-time world record for farthest rock skim? Well, I'm going to say feet, in feet. And feet. So I'll say 150 feet, 50 yards. Okay. What do you say?
Starting point is 00:12:19 I'm going to call it an even football field. 300 feet. 300 feet. What are you going to say? I'm going to go in the middle and go 200. 459 feet. Wow. Wow.
Starting point is 00:12:30 They skimmed a rock 459 feet because it was like 149 meters, something like that. And so apparently this whole town in Scotland they go, there's a science to pick in the rock. Yeah. Okay? You have to pick a rock from the ground around the water, and they get there early to look for the rocks because you want rocks, apparently, that are the flattest surface possible.
Starting point is 00:12:57 No ridges, no bumps because they'll skid better. And then, of course, you have to throw it a certain way. So, Shannon, doesn't that sound like a fascinating event watching people skim rocks across the water? I would probably watch it if I had access to it. Can you skip a rock? Yes, I can skip a rock. I couldn't do it, 459 feet. Yes, I know how to do it.
Starting point is 00:13:18 You throw it like kind of sidearm. That's right. And put a little spin on it and go, I love they make you pick the rock up from the bank. You can't bring in your rock. That's right. You have to pick a rock from the bank. And apparently this lake where it is is known for rock skimming.
Starting point is 00:13:38 I'm not kidding you about this. And they actually have a hard time finding rocks because people go, all the time themselves to do it. So once a year they import rocks in so that there are more rocks there. Do they have like commentators at this? Is there like an analyst? I don't know if it's on television. I would watch it, to be honest with you.
Starting point is 00:13:57 Maybe we could volunteer. I would watch it. It's in Scotland. So I thought that was an interesting contest. How many balances? We won't go yards, but do you think you could get? How many balances? Let's see.
Starting point is 00:14:12 Six. You know, that actually gave me a good visual of you out there. I saw the bounces. I think you got hosed on the last one. You had a little more room in there to move. I think I can do six. How many bounces you think you could do shit? Oh, maybe three or four.
Starting point is 00:14:29 I don't know if I could get up to six. That's a lot. That's a lot. Think about that. Four or fifty feet, it's a football field and a half. That's a long way. Long way. To do it.
Starting point is 00:14:39 It has to skip four times. And if you think about it, you can't throw it too far. It'll just go in because you'll have too much art. you have to kind of yeah it has to skip minimum of four times minimum of four times wow so anyway
Starting point is 00:14:52 thought that was interesting who's next shedinette you'll get that at the show's syndicate how are you hey I'm doing awesome guys I got a little optimism for your fellas here so for the football um when we drop the ball in the fall
Starting point is 00:15:08 we're court kings in the spring you never can have a good basketball and football at the same time boy we haven't in a long time so that will that will be our slogan when we drop the ball in the fall we're going to be the court kings in the spring
Starting point is 00:15:23 okay all right so when you drop the ball in the fall you are the kings in the spring I like it the court kings it won't rhyme as a rapper but it'll go then you become the kings in spring the court the court kings the basketball court kings you see what I'm saying because we never get
Starting point is 00:15:42 the basketball All right, then just put it to me as a poem so that it's in the right verse. Go ahead. Okay. When we drop the ball in the fall, then we're the court kings in the spring. There you go. Does I say I'm better? Did I put it together a little bit better for you guys?
Starting point is 00:16:01 It just feels like the, I don't know. I can't drop in the ball in the fall. Right, okay. So when I'm better, our football team is terrible. Then what we do is we're going to. to make it up with the basketball in the spring because we never have a good football team and the basketball team at the same time. We never did. Gotcha. I appreciate the call. Yeah, I appreciate the call. I know we haven't. We haven't done them both at the same time very often.
Starting point is 00:16:29 If you're ready for the ultimate tailgate party, fuel up at Clark's puppet shop, beer chips, crispy, crunchy chicken. They got it all. You can get a touchdown dance. Chicken sandwich, three piece bone in fried chicken, three tenders with a side of wedges. How much is it? Five 99. Nice job. Download the Clark's Pump and Shop app for monthly gas specials. Gas is cheaper now to spend it a long time, but it can be even cheaper with your Clark's Puppet Shop app.
Starting point is 00:16:54 It's Clark's Puppet Shop, return, refresh, refuel at Clark's Pumet Shop. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSA. Last night, a blown call changed the game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending. Opinions are flying.

On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness,
Starting point is 00:19:02 professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going. From the WNBA standout, Kate Martin and Rising Hockey, star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you,
Starting point is 00:19:21 but don't ever feel like you don't belong. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeke. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale,
Starting point is 00:19:39 like being able to fail in front of the entire, higher world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHart Women's Sports. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a sweat, A staggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world. He doesn't look back.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant, this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast, Superhuman, documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Starting point is 00:21:25 Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, Tughey Sports Radio. 859-28027. One person writes, Matt, did you hear Pat McAfee confirmed if we beat South Carolina, game day was already coming. They already had their schedule set. That's brutal. And now they're going to South Carolina.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Like, yeah, that's brutal. Makes it hurt even more. Netflix there. I mean, think about it. Netflix is there. You would have gotten college game day. You would have been the biggest story in the country. You would have had great publicity on Netflix and you dropped it all.
Starting point is 00:22:07 And did just drop it. You dropped it in like an embarrassing manner. Might have gotten into the top 25 when they voted on Sunday. someone sent me a picture of the game day trucks rolling into Columbia yesterday. I didn't love seeing that. Yeah. It said you lesser programs will never feel this. I didn't love getting that message.
Starting point is 00:22:25 No, I mean, we deserve it. It is what it is. One person writes, Matt, if Tyreek had just done what was asked, he probably would have gotten away with a warning instead of getting in handcuffs and need in the back. That's probably true, which is why I would do it. At the same time, though, again, Tyreek's a private citizen.
Starting point is 00:22:46 So like, private citizens are going to screw up. I'm more concerned about the guy who's going to encounter the public every day and is sometimes not going to be treated well how that person acts because that's that person's job. Tyreek is just a football player. It doesn't matter. Do we ever find out what he was actually doing? I don't even know.
Starting point is 00:23:08 Like, I saw another body cam that came out this morning. He was not going 100 miles an hour. Like he may have, I'm not saying he didn't do anything, but, you know, there were people who just went with, he went 100 miles an hour. The body cam I saw, I saw, there's no way he was going 100 miles. Because, I mean, he might have been speeding, but he wasn't going 100 miles. He's cheetah. That is true. Also, you know where he is.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Just go take it to him. You know what I mean? It's like, he's just right on the fair. Yeah. That would be funny if they put it on the field. 859-2-2-287. I have some more details on this Green Bay thing real quick. Mario is lucking into an experience that he's going to love.
Starting point is 00:23:48 So not only is there a dinner at the ESPN, the new head of ESPN Radio's house, college game day for radio is at Wisconsin, Alabama. So they're all coming to the dinner. Oh, wow. All the NFL people are coming to the dinner. My goodness. Steve Levy and Carl Ravich will be there. We'll get to see that piece right up close.
Starting point is 00:24:10 I want a video for Mario. Mario and Carl Ravich's hairpiece right up close to each other. We're all going to the dinner. Mario's invited. They've already told us how we have to dress. Really? Yes. So is that like, were they telling us, not to wear a hoodie?
Starting point is 00:24:25 Steve Levy and somebody I hadn't heard of. Oh, no. Steve Levy and Mike Tannenbaum are doing a live podcast from the dinner. Wow. You can stand and watch them do a podcast. Is Mario going to know all these names? I mean, we heard how. He's not going to know who these people are.
Starting point is 00:24:43 He's not going to know who these people are. We have to get on a bus. It's like Bobby Bones' wedding, Shannon. I have to get on a bus to go to his house because we can't park at his house. Oh, God, one of those situations. So now you have to get out of bus and then they'll drop us off at the house. Do they blindfold you? You think they're going to blindfold us?
Starting point is 00:25:01 We don't know. So we don't know where they live. So if this is Saturday night, you think there'll be a TV on with the Kentucky Georgia game on it. You can kind of keep an eyeball on it a little bit. Probably. That's what I'll have to do. I'll have to watch it from the party. So Mario is going to road trip.
Starting point is 00:25:17 He's going to vlog, I guess, take video on social media of he and I on this road trip. We are not allowed, by the way, to film in the house. That was already said. It was like you're going into something. They're going to take your phone. Underground. It'll be cool. He'll do the stuff Sunday at that house, the Draft King's house by Lambeau Field.
Starting point is 00:25:36 That'll be cool. Yes. Although we did not get press credentials. and he and I are just going to have to turn around and come right back after the game. We can't even go to the game because we have the Somerset Golf Scramble Monday. So we were going to stay, watch the game,
Starting point is 00:25:51 and then drive like halfway back, and I was going to do the show from wherever we go. But because we have the Somerset Golf Scramble Monday, we're not even going to get to watch the game. As soon as the pregame show is over out. And Myron, now here's another thing that's crazy. Myron has been asked to do the sidelines for the ESPN radio broadcast, which means with an hour left, he has to leave.
Starting point is 00:26:13 And they said, hopefully we can find somebody around there to co-host the last hour with you. I think it's going to be a Mario. Because I'm not sure who else. I mean, we just go grab someone from the street. Apparently John Anderson, former sports center anchor. He's going to be at this tailgate. So maybe he will do part of him. He's not going to want to work.
Starting point is 00:26:37 He's there to have fun. He's retired, but maybe we get him in there. But, you know, if there's nobody else, I'm going to be like, Mario, come on here and talk to Herm Edwards with me. Are you ready? You're going to do an hour of just what happened at the party. Yeah. That stinks so much.
Starting point is 00:26:50 You guys are literally in the backyard of Lambeau Field. And can't go to the game. And can't go to the game. Literally going to turn around. We'll grab lunch and then turn around and drive right back. That hurts. I know. Will you give me some spotted cow?
Starting point is 00:27:02 But that's how committed I am to the KSR Somerset Golf Scramble. 859-280-2287. What'd you say, Shannon? I said that was a good beer. Drew just asked if you'd get on some spotted cow. Spotted cow. Yeah, that was. That's the Milwaukee beer.
Starting point is 00:27:17 That's right. You can only get it there. My seat was wet every morning. Yeah. Who's next? Joker. Joker. Joker.
Starting point is 00:27:25 I'm doing good, sir. I just want to say, first time, I am very, 100% agree with you on the Tyreek Hill situation. Secondly, y'all talking about cheaters. I used to work. second shift and I'd come home and I'd watch Jerry Springer and Cheaters every night. Do you all remember the episode where intellectual programming? That's right. Jerry Springer and then Cheaters.
Starting point is 00:27:52 What else you got to do at 1 a.m.? But do you remember the episode where Joey Greco got stabbed? Yeah, Joey got stabbed on a boat, right? Didn't he get stabbed on a boat or something? Yes, on a boat. He got stabbed on a boat. Yeah, appreciate the call. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:28:11 He ended up, like, having to go to the hospital. He missed some episodes. Yes, he did. He got stabbed on a boat. Did you all watch Blind Date? I did watch Blind Date, and I loved Blind Date. I have to get something off my chest. Not only did I watch Blind Date, I had the DVD box set of Blind Date.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Oh, my. No reason to be embarrassed. I'll go further. Before streaming, like five or six years ago, before it was on, I bought a DVD box set of cheaters. I have the best of cheaters on DVD. And when my mom who helped me clean out my DVDs this summer, she asked which one to save, I said, don't get rid of the cheaters. I got rid of like 200 DVDs.
Starting point is 00:28:53 I think I kept my blonde date season 16. Well, instead of the TVs here at the restaurant stuck on the view, I think we need to have a cheaters watch party. If I were to put cheaters like just a night of cheaters running, We'd be packed. I think we'd have people come because it's a good, it's a good watch. I'd be here. As a matter of fact, I think we've just figured out an event for us in the dead of winter
Starting point is 00:29:20 when we don't have anything. The cheaters box said, 859-28027. We will take a break very back. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. That's a country.
Starting point is 00:29:40 voice right there. Hank Williams, Sr. Deep country voice. You know, I heard a really good song on the TikTok. It was the dude that's the lead singer for the Red Clay Strays, which is becoming like my new, you know, I've gone through these phases of Sturgle, then Tyler, then like Charlie Crockett. Now the Red Clay Strays are becoming my group like that.
Starting point is 00:30:07 If you like that kind of music, y'all to check them out. And then there was a guy that was here in Lexington, Zach Topp? Do you know who Zach Top is? He's blowing up. He was at Manchester Music Hall Friday Night. But the Red Clay Stray's guy and Zach Top sang the last thing I needed the first thing this morning to have you walk out on me, Willie Nelson. Do you know that song? I do not. Well, they sang it together.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Look for it. It's really good. They didn't know the words completely, but their voices were really good. They're going to be here in Louisville next week at Burley. Urban and Beyond Fest. Red Clay Strays? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:42 Okay. I'm going to go the night of Tyler. You're going to find me a ticket, right? I got you. Yeah. Okay. Good. Tyler's Sunday night.
Starting point is 00:30:49 What night are the red clay strays? I'd have to look it up. I'll let you know in a minute. All right. Let me know. Yeah. 859-280-2287. Still haven't found the guy.
Starting point is 00:30:57 No, I haven't. It's crazy. In the London area. Shannon, you said something that you thought was interesting. Yeah. What was it? Well, you were talking yesterday about how vast the wooded area is in that area of Kentucky, and I was watching on the news.
Starting point is 00:31:11 They were saying it's like a jungle because it's unexplored, and they're having to go through with machetes and, like, chopped down branches and everything just to clear out paths to walk through there. This blew my mind when I did my book, okay? There was someone who told me that there are many parts of eastern Kentucky in the mountains that they believe no human has ever walked. My goodness. Which I want you to just think about that for a minute.
Starting point is 00:31:35 In the United States in 2024, they think they think they're. are parts of the mountains where no one has ever been because they're so deep steep and that there are you know the woods are so thick now i don't know if this part this guy's in is that but where he is which is kind of off into the hills from london livingston etc is a part that doesn't have any coal so because it doesn't have any coal no they've never built roads or things through it. There's no exploration there because unlike a lot of the rest of Eastern Kentucky, which was explored for the minerals, that part is not. So he's probably in the part of Eastern Kentucky that is the hardest to get into because nobody ever really gets in it.
Starting point is 00:32:23 And if he's up there, Shannon's right. There's so much stuff that they need to walk it. They have to machete it. And it may be the case that when the police are going through it, they may be the first people to ever walk through some of these places, which I don't know if that blows people's mind like it blows mine, but it really blows my mind that, like, there are parts they don't think anybody's ever been in. And the only way this guy is able to survive, he knows the area, apparently. We can't know that area if nobody's been there, but he knows it probably better than much.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Yes, yes, exactly. So it's crazy. And, you know, Lake Laurel County is still out of school. today. So they're going to find him though, right? Like, do you think there's any chance they don't find him? I mean, if he were just die in there somewhere at some place that's hard to get to, maybe, but I mean, he can't, you can't live in the Daniel Boone National Forest forever. Doesn't it surprise you that anyone in 2024 ever gets away? Yeah. Yeah, I mean, you can't get away with anything. You know what I mean? Like how, but you know, what's his face got away? Eric,
Starting point is 00:33:34 Khan was gone for a decade. Made it to Mexico. Pizza Hut took him down. Yeah, he went and got Pizza Hut in Ecuador, or else he'd still be fine. Didn't he order pizza? I think that was the red flag. We got soup.
Starting point is 00:33:45 We got soup. We don't even have soup. They're eventually going to wear this guy down, though, I think. You would think so. I mean, eventually, you know, he's going to get tired of living out there. But you wonder, like, what if he finds a road, hitchhiked, and then is gone? I don't know. I'm just amazed in 2024.
Starting point is 00:34:03 before anyone gets away. But there are clearly people that do. There are people on the most wanted list, and I'm just, I always, it's kind of amazing. So if you were going to get away, what do you do? First, you have to get rid of your phone. You don't want your phone anywhere near you. And you need to have cash because you're not going to ever be able to use a card.
Starting point is 00:34:24 Right. Correct. So how do you get the, when you run out of cash, then what do you do? I don't know. This is, I mean, I've never thought about it. How do you survive? How do you eat? Well, I mean, I'm sure you can walk in a restaurant if you have the cash.
Starting point is 00:34:37 Like, you put on a fake mustache, right? All of this starts with the fake mustache. That's your first purchase. Cut your hair, dye your hair, put on a big mustache. You go borrow Dick Wise's toupee, and you put on a fake mustache, and then you go from there, right? I mean, I feel like you're already away at that point. You talk about your obsession with cheaters. I'm obsessed with this show called I Almost Got Away With It.
Starting point is 00:35:00 And it's exactly what we're talking about right now. Is that right? Yeah, and it's crazy to watch some of these stories. Huh. That's interesting. By the way, I see a commercial here for OZMPIC. Since we did the show Friday, so many people have written me about Bowling Green and Ozimic.
Starting point is 00:35:16 Like, apparently it really is an insane thing. And we're going to be there tomorrow night. And, I mean, they might just give it out on the street corners. I don't know. Are we considered fat in Bowling Green? Are we going to stick out? Is everyone there just skinny? Oh, you think everyone in Bowling Green is skinny?
Starting point is 00:35:30 It sounds like it. Well, we're going to find out, I guess. Who's next? Real quick, Clay Strays Friday at Bourbon and Beyond, September 20th. All right, so I could go to both of those. I could go Friday and Sunday. Zach Bryan Saturday, I can skip that one. Friday or Sunday.
Starting point is 00:35:44 All right, go ahead. Joe. Joe, go ahead, Joe. And Matt, you said you had one serious one and one stupid one. I got two stupid ones. You mentioned Shannon doing a review tomorrow. Does that mean Shannon's scorecard returns? It's up to you, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:36:03 You want to scorecard the debate tonight? Yeah, I can do that. I'll do that. Okay. We haven't had one in a long time. If you want to scorecard the debate, we're up for it here. Okay. I'll want you know.
Starting point is 00:36:14 All right. I appreciate. Well, what's your second one, by the way, sir? Is Mario allowed to live stream you and him driving around downtown Green Bay looking for a cloak and mask like Tom Cruise? He is going to live stream a little bit of our Green Bay. thing. So, I mean, if you follow me or Mario, you should definitely follow Mario.
Starting point is 00:36:38 He'll probably put some of it up there. And then the new KSR, Instagram, and TikTok, that would be good. This seems really eyes wide shut. I'm looking forward to it. It's not going to be. It's not that kind of. I appreciate the call. Party sounds kind of eyes wide shut.
Starting point is 00:36:53 Once you guys finally set your plans, Mario did ask me, you think he'll let me drive any? No. I'm like, no. Unless I'm tired. Do you know this, do you know this since we're talking about the woods?
Starting point is 00:37:07 If I say the phrase, the woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep. I knew you would know. And miles to go before I sleep. I knew you would know that. Miles to go before I sleep. I knew you would know that.
Starting point is 00:37:18 Robert Frost. Yeah. Like you don't know a lot, but I kind of know what you know. And I just knew you were going to know that. Big Bob Frasca? Yeah. Bobby and I go way back.
Starting point is 00:37:28 Who's next? Lucas. Lucas. Go ahead, Lucas. My own? Yes, go ahead. Oh, so what do you think the odds are that John Somerow will succeed Mark Stoops?
Starting point is 00:37:47 And two, I mean, it's kind of like Mark Pope. Players come back to Kentucky. Yeah, that's different. No, they will come back. The football players will come. Football players, now, you know, who knows if this changes in the NIL world, but I kind of think it doesn't. Football players tend to be loyal to their alma mater no matter what.
Starting point is 00:38:11 So, I mean, if we ever had a change of coach, I think all those dudes would still be back here because they end up forming a longer connection than the basketball guys do. I have one more point. Do you think that Mark Stoops is, and this is just out of curiosity, Do you think that he's trying to like follow in his brother's shadow? His brother won national championships at Oklahoma. No, he wants to be a coach.
Starting point is 00:38:40 He's a coach because that's his job. I don't think what his brother does has any, I mean, his brother's retired. I don't think his brother has any effect on what he does. Okay. But it still feels. His dad was a coach. His dad was a coach. He just to tone me up.
Starting point is 00:38:58 His dad was a coach, but those are two different points, and I appreciate the call. His dad was a coach. His brothers are all coaches. It's just what they do. Like, that's the family. So it's not like I'm trying to be my brother. It's probably more like trying to be like his dad. Like the whole family are coaches, and that's, I'm sure, how he ended up Ryan doing it.
Starting point is 00:39:16 You know, you've heard him mention this before. Like, you know, his dad died in an early age. His brother retired somewhat of an early age. And I always thought he's had in the back of his mind. I'm not going to do this forever. I'm going to have my run and then get out and do something else. I think John Summerall will be the next coach, Drew. My answer to that would be, let's see when it happens.
Starting point is 00:39:34 All right, the dude's going to kill at it Tulane. He's going to get offered a big-time power five job soon, maybe even next year, but certainly not later than the year after. If Kentucky's job comes open between now and then, he'll be the next coach. If it does not come open and he takes a job. job like, let's say Arkansas. Because Arkansas's job's probably coming open this year. If he takes the Arkansas job, then no, he won't be the coach here.
Starting point is 00:40:05 So there is a sense with Sumerall that there'll be a time frame where he could be the next coach and then he'll move forward. You know, I've had people tell me that if Stoops were to retire, they think Mitch Barnhart would hire Brad White, even before Summerall. I don't know. I've never had a conversation with him about it, but I do think those probably, Drew, would be the top two candidates he'd look at.
Starting point is 00:40:31 Yeah, I know a lot of fans want Summerall and they're worried about the timing for what you said. He's already in one year at Tulane, almost beat Kansas State a week ago. They have Oklahoma this week. We'll see what they do, but he's already a hot name so he could get picked up by someone else before the door even opens to do it here in Lexington.
Starting point is 00:40:47 Yeah, watch Arkansas. I mean, he was right there at Troy and Alabama, right there at Tulane. That Arkansas job's coming open because they're not going to be good. You know, that's the one to watch. Hey, you know, I bet on Tuddy last night. I bet on a George Kittle Tuddy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:05 Didn't happen. No, but that's okay because it was still fun. And you can do that as well. Who would you take for the cats this weekend to get a Tuddy? Georgia. I will say we're getting a Barry on Brown Tuddy. There you go. Will we get a Tuddy?
Starting point is 00:41:22 We're going to get some tuddies. And you can place your bat. draft kings for touchdowns tutties it's the official sports betting partner of the NFL we're going to have a special uh in the green bay indianapolis game whoever i pick they're going to give a special on okay as a tutty you may need to tell me shanan and which one to tutty pick okay but you can score high with draft kings new customers get 250 in bonus bets if you use my code ksr 250 when you bet five bucks at draft kings and the crown is yours Kentucky only eligibility restricts the plagues by a hundred a c o's six o'serer you and a c o's rccccule

Somebody from the area writes me, Shannon, and says, part of why that area is so dense is it has been logged and now it has undergrowth. Is that the right word?
Starting point is 00:46:48 Undergrowth that makes it even more thick than it was before it was logged. It's interesting. Yeah. That's interesting, too. It's going to be tough, tough trying to find them. We will see whether they end up doing it. All right, a couple schedule things. First, we are here tomorrow, KSpar, it's Wingsday, all that, trivia that night.
Starting point is 00:47:09 The first trivia I am hosting where we give the prizes and all that is the next Wednesday. So a week from Wednesday. Okay. Thursday, we are at the Bowling Green at the Mint, the grand opening. So we will be there in Bowling Green on Thursday. country boy in Georgetown on Friday. Usually it's our big football celebration. Doesn't feel
Starting point is 00:47:29 celebrate as a reportory, but there's going to be a lot of stuff going on. I think the UK women's soccer team is coming. There's like a lot of country boys doing a lot of stuff. Always a fun one. So if you're in the Georgetown or Lexington area, we are at Country Boy on Friday. Now I already put out the
Starting point is 00:47:45 food menu. Had some good looking food. I'm looking forward to. We'll make it a reset on football as we head into Saturday instead of a celebration. Historically, It's always one of our biggest shows of the year, that Country Boy show. Usually it doesn't come after a loss like this, but it's always a lot of fun. I mean, they do all kinds of specials, and the people in Georgetown end up partying all day there at Country Boy usually as part of it. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:48:08 Po. Poe. How are you, Po? I'm okay, guys. How are you all? Doing good. Good. I want to say I'm in London, and they're more the foothills. Matt, you grew up in the main.
Starting point is 00:48:23 mountains, and I did too over the border in Virginia. It's not as hard. There's been prospectors, I'm sure, been through every part of this place looking for coal. I know there's no coal here. But I think if they have dogs and stuff like that, they'll find this guy, man. I mean, it's been four days. I mean, I mean, it's been four days. It's a big area, and you've got to have a lot of people.
Starting point is 00:48:55 There's a big area. And he might not even be here. That's exactly right. He might not even be there. That's another thing. But I wanted to say also about Kentucky football, we still got to, don't judge a bookbikes covering. We had a half a game, and they had a tough game to prepare for us. And we had a blowout win and we're maybe overlooked them for Georgia a little bit or something.
Starting point is 00:49:22 I don't know. but we kind of beat ourselves more than anything when we're still in the ballgame. So we did lose 30. Florida and Auburn, and let's beat all the bandy in Ohio. And let's hope we can be. No, you're right. If we can win the, you know, I appreciate the call. You beat Florida, beat Auburn, you beat Murray, you beat you, Ohio.
Starting point is 00:49:44 You beat Vandy. You'll get six. Louisville would be seven. I mean, that's still there. Maybe you pull it upset. Who knows? but it's hard to feel as confident, Drew, about any of those games as we did even five days ago.
Starting point is 00:49:58 Yeah, if they had just lost by a touchdown, you talked yourself into getting back up and getting ready for the next week, but six points when you're a nine-point favorite, that's just a tough pill to swallow. Like I said, start the show, I'm still kind of in disbelief it even happened now on Tuesday of the next week.
Starting point is 00:50:15 Yeah, it's not just a loss. It's definitely how they lost. Thank you, folks. I think they didn't even get in the end. zone against the team that we saw struggle the week before against Old Dominion is very, very disheartening. I feel like sometimes when I tell people by and like thank you on the way out, they look at me like I'm scared of them.
Starting point is 00:50:32 I kind of feel like that's being nice, though, right? They probably don't know because you're on the air. Shall I yell it back? Should I just accept that goodbye? I think they know you're doing the show, so they don't want to interrupt you. But I had interrupted the show to say thank you. There's a little thrown off, I guess. I like sometimes after the show I'll go around and say to people, thanks for coming.
Starting point is 00:50:52 And it's clear there are people that don't know who we are. It's just came here to eat. Yeah, they just came here to eat. And they're like, why is this man thanking me for eating? Because I don't look like I would be the matriety of the restaurant. We're in a Boston hoodie today. Yeah. So what is that Boston hoodie?
Starting point is 00:51:12 I don't get it. This is the Boston Red Sox. They're alternate uniforms. Blue and yellow? Yeah, have you not seen that? I've not seen them. They don't wear them very often, but it's their city connect uniforms.
Starting point is 00:51:24 You know, like the reds have the red and black ones. This is theirs. Okay. Thanks. I'm just curious. I'm glad you asked. Who's next? Mike.
Starting point is 00:51:33 Mike, go ahead, Mike. Hey, I wanted to say I was at the game on Saturday, and I was really, really angry with all of you guys for not accurately portraying how good South Carolina's freshman defensive end was so the coaching staff could formulate a good game plan. But then I kind of backed up. I listened to a few folks over the last couple days talk about offensive line coaching, that kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:52:02 And I want to get in the numbers. I'll do this really quickly. When Eric Wolford was at South Carolina, he took over an offensive line that was 13th in Sacks the Loud and 13th in tackles for loss. He went four years. He went six, six, eight, and then a lot. 11th when Will Mutschamp got fired the last year he was there, and he went eight. All right.
Starting point is 00:52:22 Quickly. I got 20 seconds, quickly. So in other words, he actually turned offensive lines around, but every year he had trouble was when they changed offensive coordinators to spread pro-style offenses. So there's 10 games left. There's time. Yeah. That's interesting.
Starting point is 00:52:42 We'll see. I appreciate the call. I didn't know those numbers. You can kick off the savings at Don Franklin. family of dealerships, the largest inventory of new, used, certified pre-owned vehicles in the state. Over 5,000 vehicles, 27 dealerships.
