Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host Keer Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere,
but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor?
It signals to the world that you not have to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not have.
mean that you need to. Listen to learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcasts, or

alliance I've ever reported on, a Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman.

Welcome back hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio here at Country Boy.
Great crowd in Georgetown, as always, getting ready for the Kentucky Georgia game.
If there's any, if you ever wondering if Kentucky's the best fan base, just look at
this.
After our worst loss and probably since we've been doing this in football, except for the
vanity game that one year, probably the, you know, the, you know.
You know, low point for Kentucky football is still a great crowd here today.
We appreciate it.
859-280-2287.
One person writes, Matt, I am excited about the game tomorrow.
I think we're going to make a statement.
Give me your all's surprise player for tomorrow.
I'm going to say the freshman running back, the Wilcox kid.
He's going to have to play a lot because Patterson's out, you know, Chip, train him still out.
I'm going to say he has a big game tomorrow.
I like that pick.
They're going to need them a lot.
You know, Patterson hasn't played much football,
but seeing him on that injury list was a big hit.
I've got my surprise player.
What is it?
Eli Cox.
He rated five on the rating last.
No, Marcus Cox.
That was Marcus Cox.
I'm sorry, Marcus Cox.
All those Cox is around you.
You're getting him.
Well, you know, Marcus Cox.
Sorry, Eli.
I don't want to put that on you.
Marcus Cox is going to do better than a five rating.
Yeah, so I think that's a fair prediction that he gets tired.
He gets tired of them.
He gets tired of five.
What about you, Ryan?
I'm going to go with one of the tight ends.
I think we're going to see a lot of tight-in action, so I'll go with that.
Have we not been saying that for eight or nine years?
We're going to see a lot of tight-in action?
Yep.
Yep.
Tomorrow's the day.
Tomorrow's the day they finally use the tight-in.
All right.
I feel like I'm kind of done hearing the tight ends are going to catch the ball.
I don't think that happens a lot.
There's a guy here in the front row that has a shirt from our 2015 summer tour,
which I look back on as maybe the hardest two months.
We were in a different town every single day.
Five days a week.
Which got me to thinking about yesterday, just coincidentally,
I found the very first blog post that I ever wrote on KSR.
And it was November 2005, which means we are almost 20,
like next year is the 20th anniversary of the KSR blog.
it will be the 15th anniversary of the radio show.
So we're going to have to have some kind of party for that.
But I went back and looked, Shannon.
Thank you very much.
I appreciate that.
The very first blog post that I ever wrote on Kentucky Sports Radio,
which is like November 14th or so, 2005, it said this,
the title was Kentucky Sports Radio Post.
And it said, this is Kentucky Sports Radio, the blog.
this is the first post it was like yeah you don't know what the point got to the point i was like i was
saying to people this is exactly what this is and i want you to understand exactly what it is no post has
ever come before this post right now i want you to know this you welcome to all these people in and
they never left they're still here left that's right and what i wrote was i basically wrote what
i will say this i didn't wrote what the site was going to be and at the end of it i said we hope to make
this the go-to place and the number one sports site in Kentucky.
And that actually ended up happening.
You realize the dream.
You manifest.
Well, I don't think I believed it, but I said it at the time, Brian.
And now 19 years later, it still is.
The most amazing thing about that and what you did is that you called it Kentucky Sports
Radio without a radio show.
Well, yeah, because I knew I wanted to have a radio show.
and so we called it Kentucky Sports Radio, and then it ended up working out.
My 15 year with the blog was a few weeks ago.
If you had told me that blog that you called me to write for, at that point it is four or five years old,
if you told me it is what it is today, I never would have believed that we'd be a country boy with the crowd like this.
Not even sure I'd believe we'd have an actual radio show.
Yeah.
So I've all said congratulations, I guess.
Yeah, congratulations.
Drew's been with me since his senior year of college.
And now he's like 61 years old and he's still here.
And so it's been awesome.
You've actually been here longer than Ryan.
So a couple of things here before we get back to phones.
We're off tonight.
Mario and I are staying in Chicago tonight.
By the way, if you have a connection to Chicago,
Mario says he wants Chicago pizza like he wants because he's never been to Chicago before.
So if you have a recommendation tomorrow at lunch where I can get Mario's Chicago
pizza, let me know.
But on our way to Chicago, tonight, the White Sox, if they lose tonight, will tie the record
for most losses ever in the history of Major League Baseball.
Do you think it would be worth going to watch history being made tonight as the White Sox
maybe become one of the losing this team of all time?
Well, if the crowds or any indication, tickets will not be a problem if you and Mario
want to go watch the White Sox tonight.
I've been betting on them to lose for like a month.
every day. I've already bet it to lose tonight.
But would it be cool to have the ticket that says this is the ticket where they tied the all-time?
But they're not going to tie. If you and Mario Go, I promise you.
I'll bet it. I promise you the White Sox will win if you and Mario Go.
That's true. If you all show up wanting that ticket and wanting them to lose, I guarantee you the
White Sox win. That's a really good point, Shannon. There would be nothing worse than go and watch the
worst team win. That means then you've got to hit Chicago on your way back and catch the next game.
Because they're going to lose a lot more.
At some point this week, if you all go, I'm betting them to win.
All right, I'll let you know.
I'll let you know if we end up going.
But, you know, you drive, on the interstate, you drive right by the White Sox Stadium.
So we could just pull off right there and watch them lose.
Watch them lose, really.
Mario's never been to Chicago, I hear, right?
Mario's never been anywhere we're going.
Never been to Chicago, never been to Milwaukee, never been to Green Bay.
So we're giving him a whole tour of the Midwest.
You know, the last time we were in Chicago, you took us to a pizza place.
Luminaldies.
That was good.
What's the name of it?
Luminaldies.
That's one of the best ones you can go to.
Our waitress came out and like she said, wait a minute, are you two guys in wrestlers?
Yes.
Our waitress in a pizza place in Chicago.
I'm from wrestlers.
Did you see Jim?
I saw a bingles.
Where was my bingles fan here?
Actually, he's over there.
It's a bingles shirt.
Oh, you got a bingles shirt too.
Do you see what Jemar Chase said yesterday?
They play the Chiefs this weekend, right?
That looks like, you know, that's going to be a pretty tough game at Kansas City.
Jamar Chase said, I'm not worried about the game.
Everybody knows we are the favorites to win the Super Bowl this year.
Okay.
I do like that confidence.
Their 0-1 just lost at home to the worst team in the NFL, potentially the Patriots.
They last year didn't make the playoffs.
And then Drew say, everybody knows that we're the favorite.
to win the Super Bowl this year, you do have to like that level of confidence, don't you?
Week one, they had the highest point spread in the NFL, eight and a half.
You don't see that very often.
It ruined a lot of Survivor leagues, but he's a wide receiver.
And if you're going to be a wide receiver in the NFL, you've got to have that irrational confidence, that arrogance.
So if I'm a Bengals fan, I'm laughing at as a Titans fan.
We're not winning anything.
But as a Bingles fan, I would want Jamar Chase saying that even if it sounds crazy.
Would you want going into Kansas City where you're not?
You're going to have Patrick, Kelsey, Taylor.
You're going to have all of weight there.
Would you want your wide receiver to go in and say everybody knows we're the favorite to win the Super Bowl?
I like that confidence.
I call that Billy Confidence.
You're confident for no reason.
He believes he can get Jennifer Lawrence's number.
We all know it's not going to happen, but he believes it.
And if you don't believe in yourself, who is going to believe in you?
I do like that phrase.
Billy Confidence is good because Billy does have irrational confidence like that.
I actually think that's a really good phrase.
Who's up next?
C.J. is up next.
CJ, how are you, CJ?
Hey, we're doing good.
Colling in for soggy Cooper Drive.
I want to get a shout out to Sarah and Brent, the crowd.
Hello, Sarah and Brent, the crowd.
Go ahead.
Do you expect Kentucky's offense to try to put forward to close it tomorrow?
Your phone's not working very well.
I do think our, all right, so now let's talk a minute about weather forecast.
There's some forecast of potentially rain hitting us.
Would you like that?
Does that give us a better?
chance to win or at least keep it close if we end up in a rainstorm tomorrow?
I think if you're Kentucky, yeah.
I think anything that may slow Georgia down, may throw them off a little bit.
If it is weather, I think that would be welcome.
There's no doubt about it.
But to answer the guy's question about offensively explosion, you've got to find a way to get
Barry on Brown the ball.
He didn't have one catch last weekend.
You've got to get Dane's some more touches.
Macklin.
You've got to find a way to throw the ball if you're going to win.
You've got to keep upright first, though.
You start with the offensive one.
Part of me worries about it.
If it's raining, then they can just tee off on the one thing we can do, which is run,
and it'll make it even harder for us to find a way to move the ball.
What do you think?
Yeah, there's a lot of games where I think rain benefits Kentucky,
but the running back room were down to two scholarship players.
Still pretty unproven, even though Demi looked pretty good last week.
On the other hand, Carson Beck lit Kentucky up last year.
His stats were incredible.
It would slow him down, but I still don't know how Kentucky would score.
score in the rain, to be honest, after
not playing well at all.
I want a good weather day, just for the
fans that are so excited to go.
No more delays. It is worth
noting. We only have
two running backs
healthy on scholarship.
Two. We have two
left. Everyone else is hurt
or a walk-on.
So, you know,
if we, the last
thing we need tomorrow is a running
back to go down. If a running back
goes down. I mean, literally, it's not crazy to think they might put Gavin Wimson in at running back at some point.
Ryan, I've heard he might have even been taking a couple snaps at running back just in case that were to happen.
I think it's going to happen. I'm really excited about Patterson, the freshman that just got hurt.
He seemed like he was maybe going to take over a lot of reps back there.
But with him out, Wilcox and kids going to get thrown a lot.
So I think we'll see Gavin Wimson run the ball.
Not just run the ball.
be a running back.
Like play running back.
That's not the same as just running the ball.
He might.
I mean, when have you ever seen a quarterback?
Shannon, play running back.
I think there's a small chance that they would have.
Not necessarily tomorrow, but at some point this year,
if these guys don't get healthy, I think you might see that considered.
Very likely to happen.
We need to wrap Demi Sumo Carmbay in bubble wrap so that he doesn't get hurt.
And he's going to get a lot of touches tomorrow.
like you did, I think.
He's going to get a lot of times.
Even he's a backup, though.
I mean, I love what he did last week, and I'm rooting for him.
But you've got your second string running back starting
and a red shirt freshman who's only carried it a few times behind him.
And that's your entire backfield against the number one team in the country.
You know, last year they had like six guys, and now they have two.
Who's up next?
Tyler is up next.
Tyler, go ahead, Tyler.
Hey, Matt, just wanted to call first time, long time.
Who are?
I just got three keys to me for tomorrow's game.
Number one being, you know, I feel like Stoops teams, they tend to be undisciplined.
So just cleaning it up, you know, no more flags.
Yeah, the flags were a huge issue, especially in the second half last week.
And, you know, again, back to that moment where I kind of thought they quit.
That was when the flag started piling up, too, was after that.
So that you're right, that's got to stop.
Yeah, number two would just be, I'd like to see some sort of pass protection.
I mean, obviously, last week, Carl O-line got beat up.
I don't know if it's, you know, doing like a 12-man or something like that,
getting some running backs on some edge rushers,
but we've got to clean that up as well.
And then third, if it's third and long, anything past third and five,
Brad White has got to stop playing the soft-ass zone.
Not working.
I appreciate the call.
I mean, a lot of those things are things we've talked about a lot.
I'll tell you something that personally drives me crazy, Ryan,
is when it's third and seven and we throw short of the sticks.
That drives me nuts, because we almost never, ever are able to make the distance in yards.
I wish, even if they incomplete, I throw an incomplete pass,
I wish we would at least throw past the sticks.
It drives me nuts if it's third nine, and they throw a seven-yard pass and get caught.
What good does that do us?
I hate when we do that.
And it seems like this has been a problem.
The whole Stoops era, like getting off the pin on third down
and trying to convert those third down plays you're talking about.
I just don't understand the play calling on third down.
I didn't understand, you know, I'm going for that fourth and one.
There's just so many things.
We did not play well.
But I'll be honest with you.
I think we make some unbelievably stupid in-game decisions
that you don't even have to be a football person to know
is not the clock.
I mean, we got the ball with a minute 43 before halftime and didn't even try.
Didn't even try to do anything before.
I don't get it.
No other team in the country would do that.
Well, that's been an issue since Stoops first got here.
That's its own conversation.
But on third downs, especially defensively, it's only been two games,
but it's been crazy how the defense is so good on first and second.
They force a third and long, and teams are converting like over 50% on third and long right now.
That is unacceptable.

Sure, I need to that.
Yes, Shannon Sharp.
Did you say he admitted?
Oh, he didn't get hacked?
No, no.
He admitted he did it.
Okay.
He said, you know what?
I'm a little embarrassed, but it happened.
Hey, he owns it.
He did own it.
He did own it.
Real quick, I'm not a Jason Whitlock fan,
but Jason Whitlock did have a funny tweet yesterday.
Did you see his tweet?
No.
He had his phone on in the background,
and he was eating McDonald's,
and the sound was just in the background,
and he apologized and said,
I'm embarrassed.
There's just two minutes of him eating food.
That's great.
I have to tell you, I thought that was pretty funny.
We'll take a break and be right back.

Absolutely.

On hurdle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness,
professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them
and the mindset that keeps them going from the WMBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star
Layla Edwards.

Like, I've never understood that.
Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.
It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like.

It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.

It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live, a country boy.
I'd like everybody to join me in welcoming UK place kicker Alex Rayner, who is here with us right now.
Alex is here helping represent the Scott County Humane's.
Society and you've got a dog here. Is this biscuit? This is biscuit. I'm holding biscuit while we talk to
Alex. Alex, how are you doing, sir? Hey, doing great, guys. Thanks for having me. How are y'all doing?
Doing amazing. So talk to me a little bit about the week, you know, tough game on Saturday.
Got to get everything situated for the number one team in the country. I know you're playing
against your home state this weekend. What's the week been like? Oh, man, just normal.
There you go. A normal week. We treat every game the same. We're ready to play. We're good
team. I believe in us and, yeah, ready to go out there and play.
How has the, how's it, you know, after you have a disappointing result like that,
how does the team kind of bounce back? Do you feel like they have? Do you feel like they're in
a good frame of mind? Yeah, I think we're in a great frame of mind. One on the field,
Monday, fix some stuff, and we're ready to go. You, uh, you've had a heck of a year of a half
here. I mean, have you missed one year? I have, yeah. But not many. I mean, like you've been,
You're very record holder over here.
Yeah, very consistent.
I mean, you got to feel like your transition to the SEC has worked out really well.
Yes, sir.
I'm so grateful for the coaches and the people here for giving me a chance.
Yeah, just trust myself out there.
I have a great operation with Alex and Wilson holding for me.
So they make my job easy.
So I've always wondered, tell me what practice is like for a kicker.
Like you go out there, like, what is,
what's a normal practice? How many kicks are we taking and what's it like? Yeah, so I kick Tuesday,
Thursday and obviously Saturday. Tuesday is a little heavier day. We get six reps in practice. That doesn't
sound heavy. Six reps in practice, but pre-practice, I'll get some technique work in. But Thursday is a few
balls in the stadium and then I'm ready to go. So like on Wednesday, like you don't practice? Is it,
or is it like you would worry if you kick too much, it might actually hurt you? Yeah, yeah, you can kick too much.
Yeah, so we try and keep the reps at a minimum so I can perform on Saturday.
Now, when you're from Georgia, I'm sure, did you grow up a Georgia fan?
I did not, no, grew up a MemphisU fan.
You got a what fan?
A Florida State fan?
Okay, good.
So even more reason to want to beat Georgia.
I would bet you probably have a lot of your family coming to this game, right?
Yeah, brother's sister.
Sister goes to UGA, so I think she's wearing blue this weekend.
Oh, you got your, wow.
So your sister went to UGA and.
still wearing blue for the game. That's right. Well, good. All right. So you, you come to the SEC,
you have a really good year. Tell me, this football team put aside the result last week,
seemed to me to be a group that going in was very close and seemed like a really good brotherhood
and camaraderie. Am I right about that? Absolutely. Yep. Yeah, I totally agree. The brotherhood in the
locker room, there's nothing like it. We fight for each other. We play for each other. So, yeah,
We got a great team.
We're going to go out there and play ball Saturday.
I can't wait.
Now, you came here with the Scott County Humane Society.
Are you very involved in dogs and all that type of thing?
Oh, yeah.
Because, you know, dogs scare me.
Do you want to tell me.
Do you want to help me.
No, I do not.
Okay.
Stop looking at me, Biscuit.
I mean, I want Biscuits to have a great life, but go ahead.
Get your handful of Biscuit, Alex.
Yeah, just take Biscuit.
There you go.
Yeah, I grew up.
My family fostered dogs.
We fostered a lot of golden retrievers.
So I always grew up with dogs
I came here and Miss Joni gave me the opportunity
to work with Scott County Humane Society
and yeah here I am
So what kind of stuff do you do?
You don't bring any and you don't adopt any in the dorm there
Do you? Are there any running around the football facility?
I'm not in the dorms anymore
But yeah we'll just go around Lexington
And we have a little group of athletes
And we'll bring dogs and try and get them adopted
You know I'm going to go back to your sister for a second
She's a student at Georgia right now.
Yes, sir.
So do the other players or other people know that you're her brother's a kicker for the team
they're playing this weekend?
I'm sure she's told some of her friends, but I don't think it's –
You haven't ended up on the message boards yet.
There's anything like that.
You made a big jump to come to the SEC, but as a kicker, when you're out there,
is it just you in the goalpost or does it you feel a lot more pressure, a lot more crowd?
I'm sure the atmosphere is a lot different where you were before.
Or is it just me and those uprights when you're not?
it's time to kick. Yeah, I try and keep the main thing, the main thing. It really goes back to my
routine. I'm really confident in my routine. And I try and keep the same thing, every single
rep. And so whether it's a game winner or it's, you know, the first kick of the game, I try and
keep everything the same thing. What's your max distance? All right, if I were to say to you,
Kentucky needs a kick to win the game, what would you look at Mark Stoops and say, I'm good from this
distance closer.
Oh, man. I would say any kid
he puts me out there, my job is today.
Okay, that's a great answer.
But if I...
So that's a trained.
Susan Lacks and Tony Neely have talked to him on that one.
Do you feel like you've got
more leg than you've shot like you could boot it?
Absolutely.
All right, well, good.
Well, hopefully it'll come down to that.
Maybe Saturday.
We can carry you off the field.
That'd be pretty sweet.
And that would be absolutely awesome.
Everybody get a round of applause.
Alex Rayner.
Good luck.
to you, man. Thank you very much for coming out.
I'm a Lee Biscuit with you.
There you go.
Who's up next?
Appreciate it, brother.
Yes, sir. Marty is up next.
Marty. Go ahead, Marty.
Hey, Matt. I hope you guys are doing all right today.
I just wanted to get on here and say, you know, I'm in my late 30.
I've been a UK fan on my life.
Family season ticket holders all my life, both football and basketball.
And I don't think I have ever been more ashamed to be part of the UK.
fan base and I am right now.
It just seems like we're so
prisoners of the moment
and so happy being
miserable about things
and trying to get coaches fired.
You hear, I was at the game and you hear
fire stoops and fire Brad
White and then you watch the replay. You can hear
it over the TV. I don't understand
that kind of mentality.
I don't get it. Like we're there
to help these guys, push them along,
do whatever we can
to change the momentum in a game.
And I know the game was awful to watch.
I might have to cut you off because I have to go to break.
But I do think people can be prisoners the moment.
I don't think that's just Kentucky fans go on any message board of any team during the game
and people are kind of overreacting.
At the same time, that wasn't great Saturday.
But hopefully it will turn around.
I think the crowd will be good.
Hopefully they'll have something to cheer about.
We'll take a break and be right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio.
Here live at Country Boy.
Thanks to Country Boy for having us here.
They have a new beer.
Country Light.
It's light and refreshing.
95 calories.
It's light, but it packs all the flavor you need.
Do you like that uppercut?
I did there, Shamed.
It packs all the flavor you need at Countryboybrewing.com.
Two things from last night you might not have seen.
First of all, you may have watched Arizona State play Texas State on ESPN.
But what you may not have known is the game ended.
Did you see this?
game ended players run off the field ESPN broadcast goes off Arizona State wins the
refs go look at the replay and decide that the guy kneeled down with one second left and not
zero seconds they bring everybody out of the locker room they bring everybody out of
the locker room they make everybody come back on the field and it was fourth down so
Texas State gets a chance and they basically had a shot to put off a miracle upset they were doing the
Stanford band play it didn't work but everyone was the game was already done and people had left
and they made everybody come back and play the last play one last play if that had of worked out though
that would have been the craziest finish in the history of college football or football in general
they had already thrown it to Van Pelt and it had to come back oh back had to break into his own show
Yeah, isn't that wild?
It makes me wish it would have happened.
That would have been our lead store today,
talking about some crazy finish they had in a game we didn't do nothing about.
And they interviewed the Arizona State coach afterwards,
and they said, what do you think?
And he was like, I'm just here not to be fine.
I saw that part.
He was very, he was that the old Marshawn Lynch line.
He was very, very upset about it.
Then South Alabama played Northwestern State,
probably a game not a lot of you watched.
South Alabama scored
87 points.
My goodness.
They won 87 to 10.
They were up 80 to 3
at the end of the third quarter,
80 to 3,
and then both teams talked and said
what if we only play
eight minutes this quarter instead of 15 minutes?
I see, I don't like that.
That's kind of weak.
I mean, if you want to do a running clock, that's fine,
but let's not change the amount of time
that we're playing just because you're losing.
But can you imagine looking and going,
how about we only play,
Ryan, let's just play eight minutes this quarter just to make it easy.
I always felt like, you know, the players on that team, you know, their coach is just sacrificing
them.
Let's just play eight minutes.
I don't want to play a full 12 minutes.
When you're down 80 to 3, you might just want to go home.
All right, time for our draft king's parlay.
All right, sure, we're over two, but that's okay.
We're still coming along.
Yeah, we're coming strong in week three.
This is the week.
Come on.
We're going to get this one right.
Do not shake your head.
seem confident in us.
Let me tell you something, fish shirt.
Anybody that wears that shirt does not get to make fun of our parley picks.
These parleyes are like 10 to 1.
If we hit 1 out of 10, you're winning.
All right.
I'm going to go first.
I like mine a lot.
My pick and my lock of the week, LSU minus 6 and a half at South Carolina.
I think South Carolina is not as good as we made them look last week.
Game day's there.
LSU lost and they shouldn't have.
I'm going to take LSU to cover the South Carolina.
Still Ryan's pick up.
Shad and I both said you're going to take one of ours.
We both have backup picks because we knew you were going to pick one of ours.
I knew you were picking that one too.
Yeah, LSU.
It was seven, six and a half.
Six and a half.
I love LSU at six and a half.
I think LSU is going to win by at least two touchdowns.
What do you got?
All right, so the KSR Parley is 0 and 2.
So is Florida State.
But Florida State is not going to go 0 and 3.
They're minus six and a half at a half.
home against Memphis, Florida State.
I like that one.
That's his old team.
I actually like that's a good pick.
So Florida State, six and a half, LSU six and a half, Ryan.
I know it's kind of not, not, people don't smile if you pick a road team.
People don't wait a minute.
People are going to smile.
Put that on a t-shirt.
Is that people don't smile if you pick a road team?
Yeah, I kind of frown at that.
I'm going to ask draft kings to put that out some merchandise.
People don't smile if you pick a road team.
the name of our parley this week that's it
people don't smile be bigger a routine what do you got i'm picking texas a and m
i like that one too three points over florida i think texas a and m is going to destroy
florida again texas a and m lost to noder dame so people are going to think they're not
as good as maybe they are i like that one's well i like all three of ours
drew drew finished strong i didn't like alabama last week but i like all three of ours what about
this one i'm on a heater i got our one last week this week i'm taking you to the apple cup
Right, everybody?
We know what the Apple Cup is?
Washington State at Washington.
Washington State just beat Texas Tech last week.
Great win for them.
They won pretty handily, but they burned couches and partied like they won a national championship.
They're one of two teams in the Pac-12.
They're not ready to go to Washington.
Washington is a six-and-a-half-point favorite.
I got the Huskies in the Apple Cup.
And I think on Fade this, I picked it the other way, so I apologize to Faye-Bistlers.
But I've slept on it, and I like the Huskies.
Let me tell you something.
Fish shirt
Fish shirt
I want you to hear me
I like this one
For the first time
I think all four of us
are on the same mind
We usually don't have Ryan
Picking crazy stuff
So last week Ryan admitted to me
He had no plan
And picked Alabama
Not knowing who they played
With the spread
It was like what
31 points
I wish you had told us that
Before 3,500 people
bet your spread
These are details we could use
Maybe next time to do it
So we got LSU
Texas A&M
Washington
Florida State
Who's up next
That's a winner.
Jamie is up next.
Jamie, go ahead, Jamie.
Hey, Matt, how you doing today?
Doing good.
Another beautiful day here in Kentucky.
All right.
I'm worried about the offensive line tomorrow.
I think it's going to get ugly.
I think you're not the only one, Jamie.
I don't think that's a unique perspective.
Yeah, Best Front Seven with the best coach.
It's a suspect offensive line.
I think the whole season gets ugly for Kentucky.
I think we've got a really good team.
I was looking at the top 10.
I think there's eight of the top 10 teams or SEC teams.
I think this may be the best conference in the history of college football.
I'll leave you with that.
Well, it could be.
I mean, look, we play four of the top five teams in the country this year.
So you can't say that we're not going to get tested.
That should be illegal.
It is.
I mean, this is, but I do think it's important for our fans.
This is that new era.
I mean, we basically, we have to understand we got replaced Missouri and Mississippi State,
which I know Missouri is pretty good this year,
but in general, Missouri and Mississippi State have been winnable games for us every single year.
They got replaced this year by Auburn and Old Miss,
but there'll be other years where it'll be different teams.
But basically, our schedule, Drew, will probably never be as easy as it was the last 15 years.
It will probably be harder every single year from now on.
I know people want to beat the Georgia's, the Bama's, the top tier of the league,
but if you look at when things were good, Stoops had a winning streak against Missouri and South Carolina.
That was a difference.
The middle tier, the kind of parallel opponents, that's what changes your season, which is why last week sucks so bad because that's the team you're supposed to beat.
But I know we all want to punch up and take one of those down, but if you're not regularly beating the Missouri's, the South Carolina, as the Mississippi States, you're not going to have a good year.
You have to get above them.
Mark Stoops, I mean, if you're making the case to be pessimistic about Mark Stoops, and I want to be optimistic.
But if you were making the case to be pessimistic, you'd say Mark Stoops built this program on beating Missouri and South Carolina.
That's kind of what we did.
Missouri, South Carolina, and Louisville.
We would beat them almost every year.
And then every other year we would beat Mississippi State.
We beat Florida.
And then all of a sudden you have a really good record.
It's not going to be like that anymore now, Ryan.
You've got to go beat in this year.
Auburn, they're not as good.
And then you definitely will have to beat South Carolina who we will play every year.
Yeah, it's right.
You have to beat Auburn this year.
Florida's down.
At Florida.
You've got to win that game.
You've got to beat South Carolina, man.
We're on your home floor, in your home field, and you let that one get away from you.
Missouri last year on your home field, you let that one get away from you.
You've got to win those games.
You have to.
Yeah.
Tell me about Stockton Mortgage.

Is there anybody here who honestly believes we win the game tomorrow?
I like that guy.
I like him.
I'll tell you what.
You were the first one.
Come up here.
You're going to tell us why after this break.
We're going to take a break and be right back.
Oh, your daughters are mortified.
We're going to take a break.
Be right back.
This is KSR.

Welcome back. Final segment here at Country Boy Brewing here.
The one Georgia fan trying to hold on there.
That's all right. I'll let you buy. You're buying the beer. It's okay.
You're funding N.O. with all of your drinks.
Everybody I asked, is there anyone here that thinks Kentucky's going to be Georgia,
and we had one person raise their hand.
Give a big round of applause to Jeff from Lynchfield.
He's going to be the believer.
Now, Jeff, your season ticket holder, you told me,
what makes you believe that tomorrow we pull the big upset,
maybe the biggest upset in UK history?
Well, I think last week, as we all seen from the South Carolina game,
that I thought as we walked in there, the crowd was kind of dismal.
Okay.
I just had a bad vibe about it.
Typical Mark Stoop's teams, as you could tell,
they kind of, they have that vibe of something wasn't right last week.
So what makes you think it's going to be right this week?
So far you're sounding like all the pessimists.
What makes you feel it's going to be right?
Well, what I think's right is the easiest motivator is a loss.
Okay.
Them guys had this week coming into it has,
they don't need that coach to motivate them.
They were embarrassed.
Exactly.
And they're going to come out.
So give me a score.
I think the cats win by three.
Three.
I think it's a heart.
Alex Rayner gets the game.
I'll go with that.
I'll go with that.
I believe that cats play it close.
I'm going to say 31, 28.
You got a score 31 against his Georgia defense.
31, 28.
Dude, give it up for Jeff, the most optimistic person.
Yeah.
Jeff, thank you very much.
Thank you.
Good job.
Thank you.
Jeff from Lynchfield.
Thank you.
Litchfield, Kentucky believes in it.
Thanks at the Taco Bell, they're going to get it done.
Wow.
Can we also add, what if George is overlooking us a little bit?
Their next game is Alabama.
Maybe they're overlooking Kentucky a little bit.
Yeah, they're overlooking us.
Yeah.
We're winning.
I've taught myself into it.
Who's up next?
Jordan is up next.
Jordan, go ahead, Jordan.
Hey, Matt.
I just wanted to provide some clarity on the Wolford.
I think he's getting a little too much heat.
I think when he was here the first time,
our line was actually really good with that first year of Levis.
The biggest problem is the recruiting in high school has just been atrocious,
and we're just having to grab guys out of the portal,
which is just not sustainable.
And he brought in three, four-star kids that one year,
and none of them are still playing football.
Well, but I mean, there you go, right?
He brought in, I think everything you said,
is valid, except the recruits that we had that he brought in, which were the guys he picked,
aren't even on the team anymore, right?
So, I mean, some of that is on him.
But, I mean, that's part of being a coach.
I mean, that part of being a coach is they ask the position coach,
is this a dude you want?
And none of the guys Wolfer brought in are even still on the team,
and one or two of them I don't even think are playing football anymore.
Yeah, I think all three of them are.
or Keante, Nick Hall, and Bingham.
I don't think any of them are on a team.
So, yeah, there's definitely good.
Goodwin.
Those are highly rated players.
Keonti Goodwin was a five-star recruit.
Grant Bingham was down in Notre Dame in Kentucky.
Yeah, I mean, those are big-time guys, and we just, we whiffed on them.
Some people would say, I mean, in their first year, remember, those Nick Hall and Keontte Goodwin were top recruits.
Maybe two of the highest rated on offensive line, I mean, we had ever got.
gotten, Will Wolford had them their first year, and they're not playing football anymore.
I mean, he does deserve some heat for that.
Well, I would say when they got the campus, Yenzer was the coach.
So I would say, like, their early development was more so on him.
But you may be right.
I thought Hall had one year of Wolford, but you may be right about that.
But nevertheless, look, maybe he deserves.
I appreciate the call.
I don't know if he deserves too much heat or not, but I know, Drew,
the offensive line can't be like it is.
And some of it, we like the portal.
I mean, we got a guy from Florida and Tennessee.
But at the end of the day, when you're just taking guys from different parts of the country,
throw them in a room and expect them to have one good year, that's a big ask.
The same goes for the coordinator.
You got to have a little bit of continuity.
Like the, we were blessed to have them as Kentucky recruits.
But Drake Jackson, Landon, one of the original big blue walls,
they played several years together.
It wasn't a rotation of coaches, wasn't adding transfers from other schools.
It was a lot of continuity there.
I think it's the same case with the offense, where every year,
whatever you think of these coordinators, it can't be easy to start every fall camp
with, hey, this is the new guy, here's his playbook.
Eventually, you've got to have a little bit sticking around.
I think that's why the line looks the way it does right now.
And the offense, we're kind of throwing our arms in the air because six coordinators,
you know, I know the –
I mean, it's a lot.
But we still got to play next week, and hopefully we'll play better.
Now, Ryan, Mario and I take off right after this show.
We head up towards Green Bay.
He's going to film what it's like to go on a road trip.
Do you have any advice for him before he gets in a car with me eight hours each way?
We had a little talk on the ride yesterday back home from Bowling Green.
What did you say?
Well, I said, look, you pee when Matt has to pee.
You stop to eat when Matt is ready to stop to eat.
You eat where Matt wants to eat.
That's not true.
That is not true.
That is not true.
Guys, I found a great restaurant for us.
You're going to love it.
Drew picks restaurants, too.
I don't trust you because you pick the worst.
You will have us eating at Hardee's every day.
I trust Drew's pick.
Shannon picks sometimes.
I just don't let you pick.
But go ahead.
That's it.
I told Mario, just be ready for a lot of Willie Nelson station on satellite radio
and a lot of Paul Feinbaum because that's what you're going to get after show.
I'm excited for Mario.
I mean, Chicago, it's a pretty big city.
We're pretty proud of it.
Never been.
Going to get to try that pizza.
going to get to hear a little Tom T. Hall.
Might hear a little fine bomb.
Might hear Matt do a 20-minute radio interview.
We have to sit there quietly in the car.
I mean, he has so much ahead of him that I'm excited for him.
I actually do have a radio interview this afternoon.
See, Mario, you better shush.
You're going to have to be quiet during that.
That's right.
Well, he does, however, get to go to a Packers game.
You're a Packers fan.
What about that?
Gets to go to Lambo.
A little jealous of you right now, Mario.
And you get credential.
right so that's maybe we don't know yet we'll find that later today i didn't get credential there was no
possibility for me getting credentials so you're already better than i was i'll say this about road trips
with matt there are a lot of negatives we don't have enough time to listen to negative but you got
to look at the positives mario when are you going to go to lambo field i got to do it last year never thought
that's a bucket list item got to do on a road trip granted i slept in a child's bed the night before
doesn't matter i got to see the lamo so your highs are very high you just got to power through the
lows and enjoy the joy the trip first of okay
It's a good prep for you because we're going to Seattle in December.
That's going to be a much longer trip.
I think he's my roommate.
We've decided that too.
So, no, he has to sleep with Ryan.
That's the new guy.
All right, Shannon.
I'll see you.
The new guy sleeps with Ryan.
I'll see you in that little girl's room.
But we'll have a good time.
Now, you're going to film and put some of the stuff up on social media, so that should be good.
Also, if you, I know somebody listening, if you are in Green Bay,
we are doing our first live ESPN Sunday show in Green Bay.
We'll be right outside the stadium.
So send us a message.
I'll try to tell you where we are.
Myron and I, we're going to be live right outside of Lambo.
I am Shannon very much looking forward to that.
I've never done a live show with ESPN anywhere,
and I'm looking forward to doing it for the Packers homeowner.
And what better place than Lambo field for your very first hit.
So that should be a lot of fun.
Enjoy it.
It's going to be very cool.
and it's also worth noting with all you folks here
and with Country Boys,
been one of our largest, longest sponsors.
You know, all this cool stuff we happen,
it's all because people like you come out.
And once again, to have a show,
considering what happened with the football program last week,
and to have a show as there's many people here,
I really do appreciate it.
So, games tomorrow,
game tomorrow, 7.30, everything opens at the bar at 11.
I will be on the pregame show, some of it, not all of it.
Then we'll have the post game show quickly.
I don't want to pick the final score.
Yeah.
No, let's not pick it.
You know what?
It's been fun.
No, we're covering.
We're covering.
We're going to be in it.
It's going to be a low-scoring game.
We will hopefully have an awesome game.
Thank you to everybody here.
We will see you tomorrow.
If you're going to the game, come see us at the bar.
This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
Thank you very much, George.
Yeah.
I should have had Jeff.
