Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headlines.

And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my
greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was part of it. You just understood.
That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to. He's like,

Your 20s can be so exciting, but they can also be really overwhelming, confusing, and honestly, just kind of lonely.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the psychology of your 20s is breaking down the science behind the biggest roadblocks we face.
I was six years into my career, the 80-hour weeks, and just the first one in, the last one out, and I ended up burning out.
There was a large chunk of my 20s that I like was just so wanting to like be out of that phase out of my skin.
And I just like really regret not living in the present more.
You don't need to have everything figured out right now.
You just need to understand yourself a little bit better.
Listen to the psychology of your 20s on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up guys?

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes,
Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, rec, my mama wants you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

that was a Clark's Pump and Shop phone number
here with Ryan and Drew Shannon is in Louisville
guys it was a wonderful weekend here in Lexington
a lot of stuff going on all around town
we have with us here a young man in a suit
yeah this guy walked in I was like look at look at this guy
here in a suit he's going through rush
and you know when you're in a fraternity
they make you wear these suits like on
he has to do it on Monday I think I had to do it on Tuesdays
but you had to like
dress up to class.
It's a full suit.
We're wearing all day today.
Yeah, I said, do you do jacket and tie?
He said, no.
Suit suits.
So like that, you know, they're teaching these kids to be formal.
I don't know if I'd like that, especially on a Monday.
Maybe Wednesday, Thursday, a little later in the week, but, you know, starting a week,
getting up early and putting on a suit.
It looks good, though.
But see, if I was, if I'm one of your professors, you walk in there, like you cast a presence.
You do.
And I know this kids, this.
kids ready to focus and I like that.
859-280-2287.
So I want to hear your thoughts on the text machine on a lot of stuff.
Let's start with first the weekend.
Ryan, you skipped Parents Weekend here at UK, which I guess is okay because you don't
have a kid at UK.
But it would have been weird if you were like at the Parents Weekends events.
It's Ryan at the Delt House.
With no children.
But you also skipped the UK Ohio game.
and in classic form,
Dane Key had his best game as a Kentucky player with you gone,
which showcases maybe you're the one that's put all the pressure on him.
And then you went to Hanover for a football visit, campus visit.
What is, is that the leader in the clubhouse?
I'd say if there might be a leader in the clubhouse,
it probably would be Hanover.
Oh, so, oh, really?
Oh, you're ready to breaking some news.
Okay.
Sounds like a visit went well.
Visit went very well.
Did a game day visit there?
They let you put out a uniform.
They asked me, I could.
When they have pictures, you know, they take the picture of you and your son.
Why did you not?
How did you know?
Come on, Ryan.
You said no.
For purposes of our content, why do we not have a picture of you in a Hanover football
uniform?
Well, the one that they look, they were getting ready to hand me, looks like it had just been
worn in a game.
Perfect.
Even better.
That's a dirty hamburger, handover football uniform is even better.
What's it?
Why?
This is a hard yes.
What is wrong?
Okay, I just, I'll just all.
fess up, the look on Josiah's face kind of told me, Dad, don't do it.
I understand.
Yeah, but this is for you.
This isn't for him.
We've long ago learned that these kids, his football career is about you, not him.
We learned that a long time ago.
I wanted to.
I was kind of into it, but I just looked at his face and he's like, please don't.
Please don't embarrass me.
Is he going on any more visit?
Yeah.
Where?
Kentucky Wesleyan.
Okay.
Oh, we already know.
Yeah.
Well, you are.
That's actually not as interesting to me because you probably do that just for cosplay.
What's giving me another one?
Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati.
Here's what I need you in.
I need you in a Mount St. Joseph's football uniform.
If there's anyone listening that's involved with Mount St. Joseph's.
They listen.
Mount St. Joseph's, if you do not put him in his own football photo shoot, then I'm going to be very upset.
All right?
I might as well put on everything.
Head to toe, helmet, shoulder pads.
Are you disagree?
That's exactly.
See, a lot of parents don't like to be in control of their kids' recruitment,
but I think you need to sit him down to the kitchen table and say,
listen, Josiah, I'm going to wear this.
Let me ask you a question.
Could we send Mario to go on a campus visit while you think they would not be all right with that at Mount St. Joseph?
Probably they would welcome it and with open arms.
All right.
Mount St. Joseph, if you're listening, because it's just in Cincinnati.
You go up there, you go to Mount St. Joseph, watch Ryan make a fool of himself.
When are you doing that one?
It's one of Kentucky's off weeks coming up.
I'm not sure which one.
Even better.
If you're Mount St. Joseph, when are you going to get any better promotion or publicity than Ryan in a jersey?
All right.
So there we go.
It's settled.
You're going to do that.
So Friday, I just kind of, they had Bourbon and Beyond this weekend.
I really wanted to go see Tyler.
And then I had to think about, oh, there will be crowds and people.
And you have to go through a gate.
The gate's really what gets you.
And it's just going to be a whole thing.
You got to scan or wrist.
I think I have to activate.
They, like, you know what, too much.
And so I didn't go.
But apparently, Shannon, they had, like, record crowds.
Yeah.
Didn't they?
500 million people?
Something like that.
Yeah, Saturday night, the number was 60,000 people.
I think 50,000 on Friday for Day Matthews and maybe 40, 45 on Thursday.
I don't know what last night's was, but it was another big crowd.
So, record-setting weekend for Bourbon and Beyond Fest.
Yeah, big acts.
Zach Brian, people seemed really excited to see him.
Dave Matthews going
like moving his shoulders up
they were awesome though
yeah yeah
that drone picture that Shannon posted
that was crazy wasn't massive crowd
it's the biggest one they've ever had right
yeah yeah it's a great event
it's a great event now you got larger than life this weekend
so you're going to have eight days of big music in Louisville
so let's just leave that all there just kind of change the band
the same yeah I guess they do it's probably just change the banners right
Yeah, that's pretty much it.
And Terry had an interview with one of the guys that runs the promotion.
He said in like five or six years from now, their plan is to double the amount of people there.
Holy God.
So if you're talking $120,000 a night.
Definitely don't want me to come, right?
If they're going to double.
Well, I wanted to go on the Tyler thing, but then, you know, it's just a lot.
It's just a lot.
And it was hot, too.
The temperature.
It was so hot this weekend.
Yeah. Well, all right. And then, but then I wanted to get to Drew, and we'll get to the game, I promise.
Christ the King October Fest. Oh, yeah. That's a big party. Do you know what that is? Oh, yes.
So Christ the King, October Fest is like the church, Christ the King, I guess it's a fundraiser for God. And they have, it's a weekend of party, right? And I've been in years past. I have a friend that lives right next door to it. So we will park at her house and we'll walk over there.
And for those of you that have never been, like the whole Catholic picnic world is a world that I didn't know a lot about when I was growing up at the Eastern Kentucky.
We had a Catholic church, St. Joseph's, I think.
But they didn't do this.
At least they didn't invite us.
Yeah.
It is for people, you hear Catholic church picnic, you don't think drunk fest, but it is true, right?
Like it's, it's, don't get me wrong.
It's for the Lord.
But they also have casinos and they also have drinks.
And there's a lot going on.
Beer tents.
I mean, not just beer tents.
A lot of beer tents.
Like more beer tents than you see at any event in Lexington all year.
They got food trucks, a lot of food.
But they have a section where you can play bingo.
Bingo's big.
They have a section where you can play a casino, which leads to the fight every year, Shannon.
Because if you win the money at the casino, they highly encourage you to donate it back.
Oh, no, no, no, no.
That's my money.
And a lot of people take Shannon's view of no.
No, I'm not giving the money back.
So I went.
I played bingo for a little bit.
Yes, it's fun.
It's bingo.
But I played, and I never won.
But then I decided to walk around.
Yeah.
Now, do you know what happened there?
Well, first I'll tell you what happened Friday.
Last I'll tell you about having Friday.
But I'm walking around Saturday, I think.
It's so, first of all, it's very cool.
But it is so weird still to me.
I know I'm an adult.
I get, but it is still weird to me,
to be in a place where adults are like partying.
And by adults, I mean like in their 40s, 50s, and 60s.
It's still weird to me to see like 60-year-old plus people dancing to rock and roll music.
You know what I mean?
Is there a cut off for dancing?
I don't know.
In Middlesbrough, adults didn't dance.
At least I didn't see it.
Go to the wrong places.
You know what I mean?
When I was a kid, you're from Somerset.
Maybe it's different there.
But in Middlesbrough, adults didn't go.
adults, I never saw adults party.
There'd be like one or two men that would drink at the country club, and we'd be like,
stay away from those guys, you know.
So it's weird for me to see an outdoor of like people in their 60s drinking.
Am I the only one that thinks that way?
I think they're the wildest.
Yeah, you know, you're saying once we turn 50, we can't have a good time?
But I don't look at people my age or younger as being an old because I'm one of them.
Does that make sense?
Yes, it does.
Even though I know that the kids, they're.
look at us like I did, you know what I mean?
Of course.
But they also, by the way, the kids are off on their own making out in the bushes.
Oh, yeah.
Like they are, it is, they're everywhere.
Oh, yes.
And again, I found myself being like an adult going, well, you all go somewhere.
Like, well, that's what makes these Catholic fairs and events successful because they left.
St. Julian's was the church there.
So, Shannon, apparently they had a singer Friday night.
Okay.
And he was a country singer.
And I don't know what his name was.
It might have been like Luke Combs or something.
Oh, what's a good get.
It was somebody like that.
And he got up there and apparently this is just what I've heard.
I have no idea if any of this is true.
But I heard he got up there and like he sings a song or two.
And maybe he's had a little bit to drink like everyone in the crowd.
And he gets up there and says, now I don't want to make this not political buck.
Oh, boy.
Here we go.
Now, like when you say that sentence.
You know what's coming.
What are the chances the next thing is not political?
Zero.
Okay?
I mean, like, when you start a sentence, I'm sure I've said that.
But when you start a sentence, I don't want to make this political butt.
Drew, it's a hundred percent likelihood that whatever's happening after is political.
Yeah, he wasn't saying, I don't want to be political, but donate to the church tonight.
He could have a statement.
Yeah, he was going to have a statement that's political.
And apparently, and I don't know exactly what he said.
But apparently he said something like, I don't want to make this political butt.
We need to talk about sex trafficking.
Now, remember, it's Saturday night.
Yeah.
Like, there's a casino over here.
There's beer over here.
There's bingo over here.
There's all this going on.
And apparently my man, like, starts to talk about, like, you know, anti-sex trafficking.
Well, what I heard is, then, like, three or four minutes later, the electricity goes out on stage.
Okay?
He's still apparently, like, talking.
and the electricity goes off.
Mysteriously all at that time.
Everywhere else in the thing keeps sod.
Yeah.
The only shed in electricity that went off is on stage.
Not a coincidence.
They say that there is a malfunction.
Yeah, right.
Yeah.
And their performance.
There was a malfunction on the stage,
but somehow everywhere else stayed lit up.
And later, I guess, I'm told the announcement,
It was made something like, you know, sorry, we had a, I don't know.
We blew a breaker.
Yeah, something like that.
It was like, we blew a breaker and he will not be able to finish performing.
And then he was done the rest of the night.
Didn't perform anymore.
I love somebody in the background.
Like, cut him off, cut him off, get him off, get him off.
First of all, this is not a criticism of Christ the King.
Because I was there Saturday.
So I wasn't there Friday.
But I'm assuming the vibe was what it was.
I can guarantee you in that.
vibe, that conversation was not one.
You know what I mean?
It's not like you're just going to, it's like, buddy, come on, man.
It's Saturday night.
But does there any way, those of you that are electricians,
that you can have a whole festival lit up and only the stage, the breaker bro's,
is that possible?
Happened to Forrest Gump when he was speaking on the national ball,
pulled the plug on him.
It could happen to anyone.
Yeah, that's right.
I agree with you that I'm sure most people thought, you know, all on the same side of that debate.
No, I'm bringing up just maybe not the timing.
That's another thing.
It's not a debate.
No one's arguing the other side.
That's right.
Like, no one's getting up there and going, you know what, man, I disagree with you on this.
We don't want to divide this crowd.
I think everybody's good with it.
It's like, but it's Saturday night, man.
And if you go up there and you're the one who, like, takes the mic away, it makes you look like your pro sex traffic at that point.
Exactly. So, which is why the breaker just has to break.
Exactly.
There you go.
We got it figured out.
So if anybody has any more.
details about what happened electricity-wise.
But I did think that was a very, like, I think that's the best way you can handle.
Yeah.
You want the guy to, like, he's ruined it because the night I went, the Zach Attack play.
Oh, they're good.
And Zach Attack just gets up there.
I would walk 500.
And that's fun, right?
Like, he's singing Smash Mouth.
He's singing Sugar Ray.
Everybody's having a good time.
Not so much the other guy.
I hope there was a dude that was in the back and just pulled the plug.
And then he goes, I just don't have to plug it back.
It won't fit anymore.
It's not going to do it.
All right, 859, 280, 2287.
Text machine is 772-7754.
Kentucky at Ohio played on Saturday.
We will go over the cat's big win.
That's next here on KSR.
Last night, a blown call changed the game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending, opinions are flying,

That's where Sports Slice comes in.

What's up fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about
defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a
that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective
on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted
this series because when they don't have Rudy
in the lineup, he has to really guard guys
like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us
everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis
on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by,
like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
Hey, that man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, guys?
This is Clifford Taylor the Fourth.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Hey, I'm Jordanano.
You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet.
Who? Somebody! Please!
But there's so much more to me than that.
I'm an actor. I'm a comedian, and recently I've become quite the helper myself.
And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hippocrat, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions.
Sike! I'm a comedian! I'm not qualified to give good advice!
Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice.
known to man.
If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice.
One ring is too scary.
Cream a chicken suit.
Hey, cream a chicken suit.
This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know.
Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the MyCultura Podcast Network available on the IHartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, it's Edwin Castro, also known as Castro 1021.
and I'm Kunky, his best friend, and business manager.
And we've got a new show called The 1021 Podcast.
I'm taking you behind the scenes on how I became one of Twitch's most popular streamers.
We also love sports.
And with the World Cup right around the corner,
we'll be breaking down the biggest storylines ahead of the big tournament here in the USA.
Listen to the 1021 podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.
I mean, this is a great party vibe, Shannon, right?
Oh, yeah.
Who's not having fun with this song?
Oh, my goodness.
How can you hear this song and not be happy?
Immediately we all start bouncing our head, everybody.
And then you go,
Baleta!
Laeta!
Baleta!
Blita!
See, those of you on podcast don't even hear the song, but you know what it is.
You know what we're talking about.
Just by that.
One person writes, Matt, October Fest.
I'm a committee member.
The stage is contracted by a third party,
and their generators stopped working,
and they didn't bring a second generator.
on Saturday night they added an extra generator.
I'm not going to say your line, sir.
I'm playing a third party.
But I'm, Shannon, I'm throwing the challenge flag.
Third party's a great, you know.
What an appropriate time for that to just stop.
How convenient?
Right when the dude's talking, not during one of his songs,
but when he starts giving a little political speech.
One person writes,
Matt, not to get all political,
but what did you think about the first half management
at the end of the game against Kentucky and Ohio?
Conservative.
I think that's fair to say.
He's conservative.
All right, first, let's go Big Pigsaw on again.
Okay.
Okay.
So you played great.
Yeah, they did.
I know if they played great.
Got to see the passing game go.
Yep.
Dane Key was awesome.
Awesome.
Highlight performance.
If he gets in the end zone on that, it makes the ESPN top ten.
No doubt about it.
If he gets in the end zone, his hurdle is on the ESPN top tier.
Cool to see our running game, including Will Cox, with some burst there, Drew, played well.
Offensive line was better.
I know it's not a great defensive line.
Defense was awesome throughout the game.
I think big picture you've got to look at Saturday as a positive, right?
Yeah, very positive.
There are a few lingering things.
I wish Van der Gryff had got some touchdowns,
although if the Phil was 98 yards long, Dane has two touchdowns.
He got stopped on the one and the two,
so I'm not beating them up too much.
I don't know that it gave me a lot of confidence in the offense moving forward,
even though I still look good.
But, yeah, overall, good game.
People were healthy.
Maxwell Harrison had a pick six.
Love seeing that.
Alex Rainer set new records.
Yeah, it was a good day overall.
Yeah, I mean, he tied the record for most pick sixes in UK history,
and Rainer sets the record for most consecutive field goals made.
That's the opposite of the KSR curse.
He comes on, and he actually sent us a thank you yesterday.
He said he got his leg going from it.
What do you think?
I know you were gone, but I'm sure you watched it.
Yeah.
Most of my answers, most of my questions I think got answered on offense,
Can we move the ball on the passing game?
Can we kind of get on track a little bit?
Can the offensive line kind of get a little better?
And I think overall, if you had to give it a thumbs up,
that that's what you wanted to see from a game like that.
But kind of just talk about Dane for just a second.
Give me 30 seconds.
You deserve it, yeah.
Dude, I am so happy for that kid to have a game like that.
I mean, he has absolutely worked his butt off,
his passed off, harder than he's ever worked before to get to this position.
Career high and catches, career high and yards.
Like Drew said, I wish he'd just gotten in the end zone.
But I was more proud of him in his post-game interview he gave with Dick Gabriel after the game.
I hope you got a chance to hear that because, you know, he thinks – first thing he says, he thanks God.
But then the second thing he says was, man, I hope my mom and dad are listening right now.
Hi, Mom, hi, hi, dad.
You know, that was Little Dane.
That's the little kid that I know at that moment, and I hope people realize that great – as a player, he is.
He's a better person.
He's just an awesome kid, and I'm just so happy for him.
Do you feel like you not being there, help?
Yeah, probably.
That probably was it.
Yeah.
I mean, the dude's still trying to get in the end zone,
so I'm thinking my next game, that's the reason.
But here's, you know, I'm not able to go to the first couple of games
with my vertigo stuff, so I've not really been to a game.
Oh, okay.
You know?
Well, I thought about Ryan.
Dane made a big reception early in the game.
Might have been his first reception, big first down,
and he pointed with both hands to the corner where his parents sit,
and I just kept thinking he's pointing at an empty seat.
He's pointing going, where's Ryan?
Where is Ryan?
That's what I thought in that moment.
Yeah, so I thought all that was great.
I mean, I thought they played really well.
I was happy about pretty much everything we saw.
Switch punters.
Yeah.
Which makes you wonder why we didn't do that before.
What did Max say about that?
He said, nice.
First punt was 58 yards, 56 yard hang time, 5.1 seconds.
He was like, that's an NFL punt.
Why have we not been doing that all year?
One punt, 58 yards.
Yeah, one punt, 58 yards.
He only got to do one, but he was like, that's an NFL punt, whereas normally we're kicking at 37 yards.
He kicked at 58.
And that could be huge this weekend against Ole Miss, you know, flipping the field, something like that.
You need that extra 10-50 yards.
The interesting to see why they switch.
Yeah.
But hopefully they keep that way.
Now, the end of the first half thing drives me crazy.
I mean, I could go over.
There were.
And look, just so you don't say, Matt, you're just doing this.
I was literally doing it in the moment.
I was tweeting it in the moment.
I mean, I was, well, I tweeted the last game in the moment.
I was thinking in my head, they just, it's just mistake after mistake, after mistake,
at the end of these games, at the end of these halves.
And it is what it is, and it ends up with the clock running out.
You know, I mean, you can't, the clock can't.
And we see other teams and other games be in the same scenario,
and they always have success.
Why is it other teams have success all the time?
Because they don't have a plan.
I mean, the bottom line is,
There is no philosophy of how they handle the end of first taps.
Because of that, I mean, Stoop said it.
I was listening to his radio thing.
I got in a car right after they did it, and I was listening to his radio thing.
And he said, and he's exactly right.
He said, I just decided with my gut, I knew I was going to kick, and I let them talk me out of it,
and it's my fault.
I should have gone with my gut.
It's on me.
Well, first of all, it's your responsibility, and he accepts that.
But he also, why has he got to say they were trying to talk me out of it?
Like, I think that's a poor, I love you, Mark, but that's a poor form.
That's basically saying, I should have listened to myself.
I'm smarter than these people, right?
But secondly, it's the exact opposite decision you made in the same scenario last week,
which says to me there's no philosophy that, and I actually think the answer, I go with my gut,
is a terrible answer.
You, that is my problem in general.
There should be a philosophy based on analytical.
or whatever, not I go with my gut.
That's like football from 40 years ago.
And that just bothers me, Drew.
No, don't go with your gut, right?
Like, say this is my decision, and if it doesn't work,
then you do it again next time and say, over time, it will work.
That's the point.
Yeah, it's crazy.
Kentucky wins by 35 points, and Stoops got booed not once but twice in the first half.
Fourth and three on the 12, they kick a field goal.
We're thinking, you know, this is all right with that.
I'm just saying people booed.
There's a lot of booing in the stadium at that point.
And a game that's a blowout.
I'm just saying the disagreement between the fans and his philosophy.
Then he turns around and they even, the announcers.
I watched the replay of the game yesterday.
I didn't know in real time.
But the announcers are crushing them in the moment.
Like, what are they doing?
Then it goes to an on-field interview with Corey Peters for his Hall of Fame thing.
And he starts the interview going, well, that was a disaster.
I mean, everyone involved and talking about the game is just wondering what the heck that was.
I mean, I don't understand.
With 19 seconds left, you wouldn't throw.
and when nine seconds left you did.
So you don't have a philosophy.
Like it should have been in some ways the opposite.
And then the delay of game.
I mean, I don't know.
This has got to be on the O.C.
But why are you running motions when you know you only have a few seconds?
I mean, I disagreed with the timeout.
I would have clocked it on second now.
The timeout was terrible.
The play call of the quarterback draw, which led you to have to call a timeout on second now.
How are you calling a quarterback draw when you know that there's a just everything about it,
Ryan, was like there's no thought process that goes into this is how you deal with it.
And we won.
But that happened at the Georgia game and it costs us the game.
And it's not gotten better.
No.
And like he said at the end of the game, he goes, I'm going to go with my gut from here on out.
No.
And Rainer made the kick after the clock.
Yes, he made the kick as well.
All right.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
Take a call.
It's KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio.
Text Machine 772-774-5254 at KY Sports Radio.
One person writes, Matt, I didn't like our team fans booing.
If the game it just started, support your team until there's a reason not to.
Do you agree with that?
There's something to be said about that, especially early in the
game like that. I mean, it had just started.
First drive? Second drive, maybe? First or second drive?
Because first drive, we didn't, we didn't score.
And then second drive, we kicked a field goal after a long drive.
They're pretty loud booze. It was louder at the end of the half debacle, but to have two
different booze in a game you win by 35. That's too many booze.
I think fans are quicker to boo nowadays than they used to be.
Do you agree with that? Like, I feel like the booze come, used to be a fan-based booing was like,
oh, my moment. It was a big statement. It was a big statement.
And now I feel like the boo's come more often than they used to.
I believe that.
I feel like I boo more in my own life, too.
I do too.
Maybe we just, Ryan and I were booing bingo winners in here as owners of this bar.
Well, this is also, yeah.
This is also, I think we are ruder as a society in general, don't you?
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
I mean, I do think people are much quicker to anger, much quicker to be rude, much quicker to be like,
like it's almost like sometimes people like to have the reputation of being disagreeable
you know and that's that's just i think that's different when i was when i was a kid you were
like presumed to be nice to people and and i and i think that leads to more booing in sports
you know it wasn't that long ago where it was so taboo to ever boo your home team ever and if you
did it was like okay we got to make a change yeah like that was like earth-shattering news
if there was a boo on your home court or your home field.
And now it's not like that.
The booing on the second drive,
there were still some Georgia frustrations lingering into those boos.
I don't think they would boo that just by itself.
Yeah.
Who's up first?
Yeah.
We'll start with Cody.
Cody.
Oh, all right.
Well, Cody, there you go.
9-9-2-8027.
I got open lines to talk about the game if you want.
You can even boo if you want.
It's interesting to me,
the Ohio game, I think, I'm not shocked the phone lines don't have people because I'm,
I didn't feel like the Ohio game helped the fan base at all in terms of feeling whatever that.
I think they're in the same place they were before the Georgia game.
But I actually think Kentucky played pretty well.
And I think Ohio is for a mid-major team, a good team.
Like, they will be in contention to win their conference this year.
And to beat that team 41 to 6 is positive.
It really is.
I go into this Ole Miss game thinking we have a chance.
I saw the spread with 17 and a half.
I love Kentucky in that spread.
Love it.
I'm not saying they're going to win,
but I think this game Saturday,
I'm not like down on it.
Are you, Drew?
I won't say I feel great,
but I'm not down either.
I don't expect we'll win,
but I think the defense is so good.
The numbers, oh, miss, has been putting up.
They're not going to, I mean,
but they haven't played anybody.
That's what I'm saying.
I think Kentucky's defense,
they don't travel.
I don't have a lot of faith in Kentucky's offense is the issue.
I mean, I don't think they've played as team as good as Ohio yet.
I mean, they're, they're scheduled the, see, they're in a position where they can only
lose two conference games because if they lose a third, they're out.
You know what I mean?
Like, they're not going to have, because they don't have, they're not going to have a quality
non-conference win.
So, like, if we beat them Saturday, we're putting them on the ropes for, because they
want to make a playoff with this roster.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And they don't have a schedule to do it out of conference.
This is going to be their first test, whereas we've played two tests so far.
Yeah, Ole Miss has yet to play a conference game.
They're outscoring people by 200 points, but they've not faced a defense like Kentucky's
going to bring this Saturday.
You know, they haven't faced an SEC defense yet.
Yeah.
Also, just the whole call thing, I think people think that I'm going to be mean to them, but I'm not.
You're in a good mood today.
I've been in a good mood since.
July.
That's a long good move.
European Matt.
All right.
Who's up first?
Bill.
Bill.
Go ahead, Bill.
Good morning.
How you guys doing?
Doing great.
I just wanted to enlighten Ryan on his son's college choice.
And, you know, let me just say this.
He's looking at Hanover and he's looking at Mount St. Joe.
They're both in the Heartland Conference and Trancey's in the Heartland Conference.
But Ryan, if you really want your son to have a perfect college experience and a perfect football experience,
he needs to look at Hanover's biggest rival right up the road at Franklin College.
That's where he needs to go.
But see, the problem is they have to recruit them.
Like, you can't, like, you're going to have to be.
And I'm going to get on the phone.
I'm a proud of a woman.
I'm going to get on the phone right now with Coach Temple.
That's exactly right.
Start making calls, sir.
Yeah, you ask Hanover who their biggest rival is.
They play Franklin.
The last game of the season, every year they play for the victory bell.
And I'm talking to victory bell.
You know, the victory bell, they've been playing it for 100-something years.
Well, first, you don't have to say, you can't sell us on a product we haven't been offered yet.
Okay, so Franklin.
And I'm going to make, I'm going to make sure that that product gets offered.
All right.
Oh, I appreciate the house.
Let us know.
See, if boosters.
of these major programs, Shannon, are calling KSR trying to get Ryan's kid at their school.
It's only a matter of time before Alabama calls.
Yes.
By the way, this is exactly how Jalen Hertz ended up in Alabama.
It was the exact same scenario where he hadn't been recruited.
His dad was on his show.
Next thing you know, somebody calls Sabin, he's at Alabama.
I saw a clip of Kirk Herb Street's son making some big play this weekend.
We're just a few year or two away from Josiah going viral.
The son of Ryan Lemon runs for 50 yards.
Harp Street versus Lemon.
We've been headed towards that for a long time.
Who's next?
Frank.
Frank.
How are you, Frank?
I'm good.
Hey, I was just calling to say,
I really, what I know about sports,
I learned from this show.
I'm really not a sports guy,
but I can't wait to tune in every day
and listen to you guys.
I just want to say thank you.
Well, thank you, Frank.
I appreciate it.
A lot of people would say that you are our target audience.
If someone doesn't know sports, that you'll love these guys, right?
I think that's how a lot of people feel.
I've said for years and years ago,
we can attract somebody that's not a Kentucky fan or not a sports fan,
then we're doing our job.
You have said that for years.
You're right.
Sydney McLaugh, first of all, she was inducted in the Hall of Fame.
How about that?
How about that?
Along with Jody Meeks, Corey Peters, and other people.
It's nice to see them back.
UK.
Sydney, I think maybe the greatest athlete that Kentucky's ever produced.
You can make a great argument.
You can make a strong argument that there's never been an athlete in a sport,
dominate their sport that went to Kentucky more than Sydney dominates her sport.
There's not.
There's not.
Excuse me.
I'm not sure that there is one.
So on Friday, SEC Network asked me to be on the pregame and halftime of the SEC Network.
So I'm excited.
You're excited about it.
Now, Peter Burns says to me, you got to dress like a fan.
And so I was thinking, well, what do I wear?
Well, it's going to be 90 degrees, so I can't wear a hoodie, right, outside.
I don't like wearing polo shirts.
I don't really like how I look in them.
Plus, I'm going to be on television.
So then it was everybody agreed.
You should wear a T-shirt, maybe a hooded T-shirt because I kind of do those sometimes.
Yes.
So I get a black, UK-hooded T-shirt.
I've got a hat.
I got a new Kentucky hat I like.
like, let's run.
You're good to go. Let's go.
Then I get about 6 o'clock that evening, text message,
Hey, Matt, sorry, we have to bump you.
Sydney McLaughlin is going to do.
Now, obviously, I understand.
It almost was funny to me.
Of course you're going to have Sidney McLaughlin.
I can't imagine any world in which anyone would pick me over Sidney McGlark.
Even your own mom would probably pick Sydney over you.
Now, slow down.
I don't think that's true.
I mean, come on, that's a little mean.
and my mom would pick Saint-Ey McLaughlin.
But I was like, okay, well, but I said on the show I was going to be on there,
and I don't want to get hundreds of texts of why are you not on the thing.
So I'll just, like, say I'm going to do it.
And then I thought, well, why don't I say something fun?
Yeah.
And so I make a video, which I post on all of social media,
which is just, you know, me sort of laughing, like, but I act like I'm serious.
Yes.
You know, I act like I'm serious and say, hey, Sidney, you know, oh, fine,
you want the Gallupic gold medalist, but you don't want me.
I have a radio show, and I have a blog and blah, blah, blah, blah,
blah, blah. I put it up, and I'm like, of course, this is so over the top that everyone is going to know.
Sure.
That I'm kidding.
No, everyone did not know.
As a matter of fact, a lot of people, a lot of people in the comments and just messages.
Who do you think you are to think you should be on there over Sidney McLaughlin?
and I thought, well, apparently I'm a good actor
because I had you all believing that.
I couldn't believe it.
Now, most of you seem to get it,
and it got like one of the most responses
I've ever gotten on social media,
but I was proud of myself.
I put it on TikTok.
Put it on TikTok, Mario.
I like to use the app.
I tried to edit it.
I still don't know how to do all that stuff yet.
But obviously I was kidding.
Sidney was clearly the choice,
and then she was on there, and she juggled.
She got up there and on-camera,
juggled, you know, I can juggle.
Yes, you can't. But not as good as she can.
Like everything else, she can juggle better.
I might have hit Peter Burns in the face
with one of the balls. I think she heard
you can juggle. She's like, I'm just really going to show
this guy. She was better at it than I am.
I want to say, I thought it was some of your
best work. I thought your video was like,
this is Matt being the mat that we know.
Self-deprecation humor.
We all got it. The people
that didn't get it made. Well, there are people that didn't get it.
Well, my goodness. Tom Hart's reply was
the best. Tom Harts' reply was best.
He said, I'm sorry.
It was supposed to be Ryan.
That was a great reply by Tom Hart.
859-280-2287.

Mom said she would not pick Sydney over me.
This is Kentucky Sports.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending.
Opinions are flying.
And nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo.
Every episode, we're cutting through the noise.
Breaking down the plays, the controversies,
and the stories behind the headlines.
We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves.
Their locker room stories, their reaction.
the stuff nobody gets to hear.
The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real.
From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down,
give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered.
Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them.

What's up fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy
in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball.
This is Clivert Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
A rep.
My mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford Show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

Welcome back, Techiesported Radio, 859, 2807.
One person writes a text machine, Matt, that video probably made you some big money from Elon, didn't it?
No.
Elon doesn't pay
You know, I signed up for their thing
Right, their creators program
Okay
First month
It was a pretty good check
Yeah
And it was like
You know
It was like $600
Wow
Okay so this will be like
This will be like
Eight or $9,000 for the year
That's good
Uh-uh
That's how they get you
So you think that one's gonna be
But I think what they did
Is they took like your last four months
And gave it to you
It was.
I had a big first one.
Because then the second one was like $54.
And, you know, I have 300,000 plus followers.
So, like, if I'm getting that, I mean, that means the average, you know what I mean?
Yeah.
The money apparently is on TikTok and YouTube, which I don't, I don't sort of do.
I'm going to try to do the TikTok.
But the Twitter, there's, that's not, that's not real money.
I mean, that first check made it look like it was going to be real money.
but that was just the way to lure you in
and then after that first one's like
this is what we owe you for your lifetime of being on Twitter
and we're caught up here's what you get
that's exactly what it was and it was
I mean it's better than getting zero dollars
so you might as well do it
but it doesn't you know
but if you don't have a lot of followers
you have to pay that premium thing to even do it
and you'll probably lose money for the year
if you don't have a lot of followers so
the money's in dancing
the money is on TikTok and dancing
or interviewing people on the street, which is what I'm trying to get Mario to do.
Who's up next?
Joe.
Joe, what's up, Joe?
Hey, guys.
First time long time.
Who are?
Hey, thanks a lot.
You brought up a couple of points this morning I wanted to make.
The half, the end of the half debacle was awful.
I thought it was better at the Southern Miss game.
I actually came to the Southern Miss game.
They actually scored at the end of the half.
Yeah, they did.
The first position.
And I thought, well, hey, maybe they worked that out, but evidently not.
I thought the team played very well against Georgia.
because of the outcome of last week's game with Ohio,
me and some friends, I actually live in Alabama.
I've talked to a couple friends out of Kentucky.
They're going to come down.
We're going to roll over to Oxford and try to pull this win off.
Nice.
Good.
Well, I'm going to be there, too.
I'm with you.
If we had not played well against Georgia, I'm not sure I would have gone.
But the fact that we played well against Georgia,
I'm going with three college friends, and we're making the trip to Oxford.
And we're really, we're excited about it.
So, you know, listen, if we win, I'm doing a post-game.
show somewhere on that grove and you'd go find us okay oh we'll do it for sure hey one last point
too the the world is more rude now uh what you were saying the fans booing i think they just
we live in a microwave society because of because of social media everything has to be instant
access and instant gratification so i totally agree with that i appreciate the call not to be all
not to be all political no i'm just kidding but not to be all old man but social media is why we're root
I mean, I've talked about this many times.
People say stuff to social media on social media.
You would never, ever, ever say to the person in person.
And I think it's now making it to where people also feel better saying it in person.
I used to talk about when I went out in Louisville,
even during the heyday of me talking all that trash on U of L,
nobody ever, almost no one ever said the word to me.
Last two times I've been out in Louisville, somebody said something to me.
And I don't even talk about Louisville anymore.
And it's like, it's almost like there's now a,
you know what you say say your truth on both sides by the way on that's all on both sides
people just think you should just go up to strangers and I mean I remember remember the video a few
years back somebody Mitch McConnell was eating dinner and people just came up and started yelling at
him and I was like what are you doing you know first of all you think that's going to change
his mind you think you think Mitch is going to be like oh man you booed me at La
Havana Rumba I feel I feel different oh don't boo anyone in Havana Rumba great place good too
like how are you going to go no controversy there let's let's
go to Sean.
Sean, go ahead, Sean.
Hey, guys, first time, long time.
Who are?
Fantastic.
Well, I'm going to take a different approach here, and I almost feel like you guys
have debated this before, but when we talk about the booing,
do you think it's possible that the NIL, the pay for play, the fact that these guys are
making a lot of money, might have at least something to do with the freedom that people feel
to do that now?
Yes, I do.
I do think people feel like, I do think.
I think it was happening before that, but I do think, and I appreciate the call, the NIL is going to make people feel like they have more justification in booing because there's like, I'm paying your salary.
I think they've always felt like that way with coaches, but I think they're going to feel more like that with players for that reason, Drew.
I think that's definitely the case.
Yeah, it's not just booing.
People are just more critical in general.
People in our jobs say, well, now these players are professional.
I can be a little more critical of them.
I can say more things about them. This is a job for them now.
So, yeah, NIL has definitely added that.
Although the booing Saturday was coach-related, not player-related.
Social media gives everybody a voice now,
and everybody thinks their voice is important,
and we all want to hear your voice.
No, we don't.
Well, I mean, that's, but that is a little rude.
Because, like, why should people listen to your voice?
I mean, like, do you?
They can turn us off.
They can turn a channel.
I'm not taking that.
I think it is good.
So I think it is good that social media lets people have a boy.
We're talking about how they treat each other.
And I think that's a little bit different.
Ryan's sort of eliteish, Shannon.
I should be the only one to talk.
That's right.
Yeah.
It's not exactly.
That's not the point I'm trying to make.
He said Facebook for a year and now I think he's true.
That's right.
Who's up next?
It's good to Ryan.
Ryan, go ahead, Ryan.
Hey, Matt Jones.
Two quick things.
David Bill has officially been ousted by the Reds.
I heard that.
I'm excited, but I'm going to talk about that in the second hour.
And maybe I would have booed had they not, but good.
My second thing is, Caitlin Clark purposely got poked in the eye last night.
I don't care what anybody says.
That girl poked her on purpose and I.
I didn't see it.
I haven't seen that.
Let me ask you a question.
Why?
Actually, you know what?
Never mind.
I appreciate the call.
Did she get poked in the eye?
I haven't seen that yet if she did.
Yeah.
I saw a clip of it.
The girl's going for the ball and she's her arm keeps going through.
little bit and does poker.
I'll say this.
It's hard to say. You know what?
Kaelin Clark is a grown-up.
She doesn't need all of us to protect her.
You know what I mean?
Like, she's good.
Very good.
And she talks a lot of trash.
She doesn't need the world to protect her.
Like, I think there's too much micromanagement of, is Caitlin okay?
She's going to be fine.
She's a superstar.
She'll probably be the best player in the WMBA sometime.
She'll be all right.
Like, I don't think we do this for how many times do you watch a game of somebody
that's a rookie in the NBA and go, oh, there are people being, people are being mean to him.
Like, it should be fine.
She's a badass.
You know, who's up next?
Let's go to Cody.
Cody, you got 30 seconds.
Cody, Matt, I was there Friday night whenever all that took place.
Oh, you were at the October Fest.
So do you think that the plug was pulled intentionally?
No, to be honest, I agree with you.
I think after he was talking about politics, all of a sudden, the lots just went out.
So you still think it was just a coincidence.
Yeah, and then a woman came out and said that she was sorry that they would try to give them to come back.
How about take the under on that?
I'll take the under on him being back.
And then he went to the casino with Tito's.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.

Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel

Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest
playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was hungry.
You just understood. That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to. He's like, you know I love you, dog. You know,
it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball.

and honestly, just kind of lonely. May is Mental Health Awareness Month,
and the psychology of your 20s is breaking down the science behind the biggest roadblocks we face.
I was six years into my career, the 80-hour weeks, and just the first one in, the last one out,
I ended up burning out.
There was a large chunk of my 20s
that I was just so wanting to be out of that phase
out of my skin.
And I just like really regret not living in the present more.
You don't need to have everything figured out right now.
You just need to understand yourself a little bit better.
