Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my
greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was part of it. You just understood.
That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to. He's like,
you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball.
So listen to Point Game on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, everyone.
It's Ryder Strong and Wilfredel from PodMeets World.
And now the PodMeets Twirled podcast.
We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor.
I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge.
That is the point of the show.
I'm just going to remind you.
Aha!
Who?
Ah, who.
Again, we are experts.

Your 20s can be so exciting, but they can also be really overwhelming, confusing, and honestly, just kind of lonely.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the psychology of your 20s is breaking down the science behind the biggest roadblocks we face.
I was six years into my career, the 80-hour weeks, and just the first one in, the last one out, and I ended up burning out.
There was a large chunk of my 20s that I, like, was just so wanting to, like, be out of that phase out of my skin.
And I just, like, really regret not living in the present more.
You don't need to have everything figured out right now.
You just need to understand yourself a little bit better.
Listen to the psychology of your 20s on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859.
280 2287.
A couple open lines.
We got Tyler on there, but we got some others.
If you want to get in, I'd love to hear what you think.
772-744.
One person writes, Matt,
I will tell you this about the Perkins in Sioux City.
It was muffins in Perkins that got Tiger Woods in Trump.
Oh.
That's not very nice.
That's a bad.
I'll tell you one more thing about the Perkins in Sioux City.
Yes.
It's where we're going.
We are absolutely going there.
Everyone always gets their one pick on our road trip.
That's your pick?
I am picking the Perkins right now.
Write it down.
There you go.
Fair enough.
You always, everybody gets one.
That is yours.
Another person writes, Matt, do you, what are the repercussions for UK football if we
lose to Vandy, Auburn, and Florida?
All right.
Well, let's go through this, Ryan.
Vandy, Auburn, and Florida are three games.
We need to win all three.
Let's say we lose one of them.
If we lose one of them, Ryan, we might not make a bowl.
True.
Okay, we'd have to beat Louisville if we lost one of them.
If we lost two, we almost certainly won't make a bowl.
And if we lose three, we might finish three and nine.
Okay.
What are the ramifications for UK football this year if we don't make a bowl?
It would be the first time since what?
Stoops' second year that they've not made a bowl?
I mean, that's kind of...
I think he went...
I mean, two or three years without making it.
Three, I think.
That's kind of devastating to your program.
Not devastating, but it's disappointing for your program.
How can you go out and recruit these kids and promise them they're going to go to a bowl game
and you can't win?
Do you think the fan base would stay behind him, Drew, if we went three and nine or four
and eight?
No, I don't think so.
I don't think so either.
Especially with those losses, whether they've been to eight straight bowl games, that
streak ends. I would never want a world where he gets fired. I said the same thing about Cal. I hope it
can just be a step away situation. But if it was a three-win season, I would hope he would just say,
you know, I'm not cut out for this anymore. I'm going to hand it off to whoever's next in line with
some energy. It would be hard. That would be a hard thing for the program to get over. I don't think
it's going to happen. I think they're going to win all three of those games. I certainly think
they're going to beat Auburn and Vandy. And I think they'll beat Florida too. But those are, those
Those games, I mean, when you lost to South Carolina, your margin of error went away.
Yes.
Your margin of error went away.
That was your margin of error.
So now you got to win.
And you have Vandy, Florida, Auburn in a row before Tennessee.
Think how ugly Tennessee would be if you didn't do well in that stretch.
We have some breaking news, by the way.
Uh-oh.
Okay.
Running a nah.
Fred and Sheila McCoy have been awarded.
A $10,000 check from WB Transport.
Because of finding the body.
It is the first part of their $35,000 reward that they are now expected to receive.
Yay.
All right.
Good for them.
Good for Fed and Sheila.
They get it in three different payments?
I guess they can't make it in one payment.
I guess it's an installment plan.
Okay.
I get it.
One person writes, Matt, I have a question for you.
I know you were gone for two months.
You seem like the kind of person that thinks about this stuff all the time.
Have you ever thought about changes you think would make?
make the show better.
That's a good question.
Yes, but I don't know what they would be.
Like, I think we have the best local show in America.
But you can always make things better.
But the question would be what would it be?
My bosses want us to go to three hours.
And my contract with the company ends at the end of December.
And we're like in talks right now trying to decide.
going forward what to do. And they want to do three hours. But I don't, I think that's too long
because the thing I like about this show is that like if you don't listen, you can do two hours,
which is basically an hour and a half without commercials, and you can just listen. And that's
pretty good for everybody. I think it would be hard for people to add an extra hour. The other thing
is like I pride people in the fact that people listen to the whole thing. Would people be able to do
that with three hours?
I don't know.
And then, you know, I'm not sure that I would want to add anybody.
This has been the core group for how long, Ryan?
11, 12 years now?
I mean, going back to 2012.
So, yeah, I don't know.
I mean, we added Mario.
Billy is part of the team now.
But I can't think of something immediate that I would do.
Ryan, you've been on it a long time.
What about you?
Not necessarily with the show.
itself, but you're always like thinking about, okay, how can we promote it, you know, get more,
get it out there a little more, get a bigger audience, you know, you're always, I think your mind's
always trying to go to a place where what can we do to help attract more people to our show.
Yeah, I mean, I think everybody in the state knows about it now. Like, I don't think there's
very many people who don't know we exist. So then it's about trying to keep, like, getting
younger listeners, make sure that we're like hitting all the demos, but I don't know.
If you have an idea, I'd be interested. If you were in charge.
772-745254. What would you do? I'm always open to suggestions.
I, Shannon, joined, well, I read about a Facebook group I wanted to bring up to you this morning.
Okay. Have you ever heard of the Facebook group Dorm Room Mamas?
No. No, I have not.
Dorm room Mamas. I read about this in a magazine. So apparently, and there are 250,000 people in this group,
there's a group of mothers on Facebook who have basically decided that their mission in life
is to make sure they decorate their sons and daughters college dorm rooms for their freshman year.
Okay.
Okay.
So they design their son and daughters dorm rooms.
And it's like the article essentially said it's a way for them to keep control over their kids after their kids move out.
and the author of the article posted some articles from dorm room mamas.
So last night I went on Facebook, Shannon and I read Dorm Room Mamas.
I have to tell you, if you ever want to sit and think, while at least I'm not like this,
go look at dorm room mommas.
it's both sweet, but it's also kind of crazy.
The things people do for their kids' dorm rooms are crazy.
They have created a system where you can have your own,
like they can create your own kitchen and a do-it-yourself kitchen in a dorm room.
They call the parents of their future like roommates and create a theme for the room.
Oh, my gosh.
Okay.
they make it to where they create makeup stations for the girls.
They create like stations for the boys to have all their sporting gear.
And basically these, it's women, it's mamas,
essentially create a dorm room because they say they want the kid to have the ambiance of home in their dorm room.
I would tell mama, stay out of my dorm room.
I don't need mama decorating the dorm room.
I don't want her in there.
I mean, she's probably installing, like, streaming cameras so she can keep an eye on you.
Okay, that's another thing.
They have a debate on whether or not you should be able to keep your kids' location on while they're in college.
That's a big no, right?
That's a big no.
Yeah, I mean, unless the kid wants that, the kid doesn't want it, that's a big no.
But there are debates on there about whether or not you should basically say,
if you want me to pay for college, you have to turn your phone on so I can follow where you are.
Well, that's where you should have got a scholarship and not have to worry on mom paying for it.
What did Gerald's mothers do for your room?
Nothing.
Nothing.
I mean, I love my mother, and she would have done, I probably wouldn't.
But like, I didn't want my mom, Drew, decorating my dorm room.
Would you have?
No, and if anyone visited my dorm, my mom did not hang those maxim posters or those keystone light boxes all over the walls.
There was not a lot of touch from mom there.
That was mostly me decorated.
There's a quote from a woman here.
Spencer's Gifts decorated my father.
There's a quote from a woman that says,
In order to make the transition for your son or daughter psychologically plausible,
you have to create a sense of home or they will spend their whole freshman year wishing they were back at home.
Is this woman crazy?
Like, that's delusional, isn't it?
Isn't it?
Are most people excited to?
to get out of their house?
Yes.
By that time, you're 18, 19 years old, you're ready to get out.
Mom needs to cut the cord and let the kid live, man.
Let them grow up and mature on their own.
I give my mom a lot of credit.
She completely cut the cord with me, which had to be hard for.
And I'm sure it is hard for parents.
Yes, it is.
This is more for the parents than are just for the kids.
But this is exactly right.
This is for the parents.
They can't let go.
It's a moms that cannot let go.
This dorm room mommas is not for the kid.
It's for the parents, Drew.
They can't let go.
And so they think by somehow like making their kids room,
you're somehow keeping control of your child.
You said there's like a quarter million people in this Facebook group.
Yes, go look at it.
Is there one with the same number called dorm room children who are talking about how their
moms won't leave them alone and where to hide their phones when they sneak out so their
location isn't tracked and how to get rid of all the stupid stuff they're putting in the room?
I would be so embarrassed if my mom walked into my dorm room and like my roommate's sitting there
and she's trying to decorate my room for me, like mom.
It's unbelievable.
I'm looking at the pictures right now.
Look at the pictures.
To be fair, though, it looks a lot better than my dorm room looked.
I mean, it is kind of fancy.
Oh, so you would want your mom to do it after seeing these pictures?
No, I wouldn't, but I'm just saying it looked a lot better than my dirty room.
One person posts the snacks to send your kid to college with.
Did your parents send you to college with snacks?
No.
I had some snacks.
You had snacks?
I mean, look, these are plants.
Did you have plants in your door and room?
I barely kept myself alive in college.
I certainly couldn't keep a plant alive.
There are plants.
It's unbelievable to me.
Tyler, go ahead, Tyler.
First off, Boston prayers to your old's algorithm after searching.
Well, that's true, unfortunately.
Two quick things about Charles' trips.
You guys are crossing the Rockies in December, right?
Yeah, but I hear it's good that time of year.
Yeah, Candy.
For real, though, if you guys, do you have access to a car that has all-wheel drive or chains?
Because you will legitimately need that.
But we're going to be on the interstate.
We're not going to be like up in the mount.
I mean, well, the interstate does go through the mountains.
But we're going to, we've driven through part of this before.
We've driven through the Colorado part before.
Gotcha.
I mean, yeah, just definitely check.
Those times they shut down like.
No, we were on, remember Ryan, we were on a road in Colorado when they shut it down due to wind one.
I win, blowing over semi-track to trailer trucks, blowing them over.
Yeah, we've done that.
But yes, I mean, we'll be careful.
Gotcha.
Gotcha.
The other thing, too, so, I mean, hey, I've been to Portland.
And, like, Matt, I'm with you on, like, New York City.
Like, I'm somebody that loves to.
You're not going to tell me to be scared of Portland, are you?
I'm not telling you to be scared of Portland by no means.
But, like, I've been to many major cities in the U.S.,
and that was by far the most depressing one I've been to.
So if you're looking for the best, you're like the quintessing
Oregon, you might not get up.
You might even make a second trip, is all I'm saying.
Okay. Well, I just want to right now I want to check the box off.
I'm open to other suggestions of where we go.
And I appreciate the call. I mean, I'm not wedded to Portland.
But looking at the map, I don't know where in northern Oregon would make sense to go.
I guess you could go to Eugene, but that's even farther down, farther from Seattle than
Portland.
Ryan said he's going to call Shane Boyd. What's that, Beaverton?
That's where the Nike headquarters are.
That's just a suburb of Portland, though.
Like, I think it's just on like a suburb of there.
But yeah, anyway.
859-280-2287.
Haley, go ahead, Haley.
Hi, Matt.
So my boyfriend's a big fan of the show.
And he told me I should call in and tell this story.
So I was a student at UK.
And yesterday, Mark Pope came into my psych 100 class.
Oh, really?
And basically talked to all of us.
He told us about how he basically like his co-ed.
coaching philosophy and how he's got team psychologists that have instructed him on how,
what's the best psychological way to approach coaching?
And I'm just really excited to see what he does.
So what did he say was his psychological way to approach coaching?
He basically has, like, a team psychologist that tell him what is the best, like, psychological
way to approach things.
And the thing that stood out to me the most was he told them,
he told us to write this down.
He said he told them, they told him what you focus on broadens.
And so like when you're coaching, you don't want to focus on,
you don't want to put as much of an emphasis on what not to do.
You want to put an instance on what to do.
Oh, I like that.
And so he talked, he was like, we don't talk about turnovers.
We talk about what to do to prevent turnovers.
Gotcha.
Well, first of all, how cool is it, Ryan, that he's talking to these classes?
Like, that's awesome.
I mean, that's involved in a, do you say it was just like a psych one?
101 class?
It's a Psych 100 class.
None of us knew about it.
He just came into, our professor knew.
He'd organized it.
That's awesome.
Yeah, it was pretty cool.
That's awesome.
Well, thank you.
I appreciate the call, Haley.
I'm not sure Mark Stoops could have done anything better off the court so far as being
the coach.
Mark Pope?
Yes.
Yeah.
He gets it, man.
I think he's got daughters that are all college age.
He gets that.
He can relate to those kids at that level.
I think it's awesome.
He's reaching out to the student body to get them excited.
about what they're doing on the basketball court.
She said the professor set it up,
but I could also see where Mark Pope would just walk across the street
and step into a classroom and start talking.
Oh, you think he would just walk in and say, yeah.
I could just see him like, I got about 20 minutes to kill.
I'm just going to walk over and step in a classroom.
One person wrote on this dorm room mom is Shana.
My son has a hard time waking up in the morning.
He tends to snooze his alarms and he misses his first class.
He's worrying he's going to fail.
What should I tell him?
Get up.
Get your ass up.
Be irresponsible.
What do you mean?
What's that time?
Get up.
How do these guys?
Gen Z.
I mean, my son has a hard time getting up for class.
Guess what?
That's everyone that's ever gone to college.
In the history of May and Kyle.
None of us want to get up.
You tell your kid, get up.
We'll be right back.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.

Opinions are flying.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective
on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything
he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by,
like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the fly.
line, he running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Oh, yeah.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
There are times when the mind becomes a difficult place to live.
This is David Eagleman with the Inner Cosmos podcast, and for Mental Health Awareness Month,
we're dedicating a series to understanding the mind when it struggles.
I'm joined by doctors, researchers, and those with lived experience.
We'll talk with singer-songwriter Jewel about anxiety.
I started living in my car, and then my car got stolen.
I was shoplifting. I was having panic attacks.
I was agoraphobic.
And making it through hardship.
To be present is a learned skill, and it's hard to be present.
We'll talk with John Nelson about clinical depression,
and the brain implant that saved his life.
What I learned is that procedure made me happy
because I'm disease-free.
And we'll talk with leading experts
like Judd Brewer about anxiety
and John Hirschfield about obsessive-compulsive disorder
and the science of how the brain can change.
This is a month of deeply personal
and honest conversations about what happens
when the brain goes off course
and what we can do about it.

Agency, the ability to know that we're the experts in our own body.
On the podcast, cultivating her space, Dr. Dom and Terry Lomax create a space where
black women can show up fully and be heard.
I wholeheartedly think, you know, you hit 30, you shouldn't have to share one with anybody.
Mm-hmm.
From navigating friendships and healing to setting boundaries and prioritizing your mental health.
These are real honest conversations.
We don't always get to have out loud.
Totally unreasonable with different parts of life, right?
Like, oh, have all three meals and make sure you're mindful during all of them?
Absolutely not.
During one meal, I'm standing.
I'm standing and handing my children food.
Because healing, empowerment, and resilience aren't just ideas.
They're practices.
And this Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to pour back into yourself.

What's up, guys?
This is Clever Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show,
I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, A, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue.
42.
Hey,
my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Hey, Ms. Parker.

Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio.
Don Franklin's family of dealerships has the largest inventory of new,
used and certified pre-owned vehicles in state.
Over 5,000 vehicles, 26 dealerships.
Go check them out today.
It is Don Franklin Auto.
They are driven by family at Don Franklin.
Franklin. One person writes, Matt, I do pay for my kids' phone for their college. And when I
agreed to pay for the phone, I told them I expected their location to be shared. It's not to
track them. It's because I want to worry about them, not snoop on their excursions.
But they got to, Shannon, don't they have to be adults at some point? Yeah. Right?
Yeah. At some point, you got to let them do their thing. Like, you got to let them do their thing.
and do you believe that somebody has that access to never looks at it?
No, I don't believe that at all, especially not a parent.
Like, you're going to look at it.
I mean, I'm amazed how many people I hear that they share their location on their phones with their, with their, like, girlfriends and boyfriends.
Can you imagine, would you do that?
I do that.
You do that, Drew?
Yeah.
Why?
Is it safe?
Well, I turned it on, on a, we were actually on a snowstorm on a KSR road trip.
I think it was Wisconsin.
Okay.
So you were worried about safety?
And my phone was dying and I turned it on and it's just been on ever since.
Okay.
Now Ryan's got a kid about to go to college, so Ryan will you do that with Josiah?
Will you make him share his location with you?
I know this may be wrong.
I don't make him share his location now.
See, I don't, I think people like, I don't know.
It feels like it feels like the kid.
should get privacy, right?
It feels intrusive to me.
I mean, if the kid wants to for safety reasons, I get it, but at some point they're
their own person.
Are they not?
I think most parents that say they're doing it for safety, if they open it at 3 a.m.
and their kid is at a different dorm room than the one they're supposed to be in, they are
texting and getting in their business.
They say they're doing it just to make sure they're okay, but you know they're peeking in on
that thing and seeing what they're doing late at night.
I mean, everybody will think of.
about the terrible thing, Shannon, where it would be nice to know where they are.
But what about just day-to-day life?
Yeah.
Make sure you're at class.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I'm not.
I have a lot of my friends.
I will say it's fun to text them.
Why are you at a bar at 3 o'clock?
See, I don't get that either.
People share their location with their friends.
Yeah.
Would you do?
I can't imagine doing that.
I guess that's a generational thing.
I can't imagine doing that.
It all starts as one off.
Like, I'm looking for you at a tailgate and you shared it.
We've just never turned it off.
So now it's become like a, what are you doing over there?
So let me tell you, Matt, you know, like Saturday at Bourbon and Beyond, 60,000 people were there.
I shared my location with my friend.
It is unbelievably accurate.
I was able to find him in 60,000 people exactly where he was.
Like in that crowd, you can find it?
Yes.
Which is crazy.
I'm sure it's a generation thing.
I just can't believe that people want to do that.
But I guess they didn't know where my friends are right now.
I can go right down the line and talk to who's at work.
Where's Corey, right?
right now. What are you doing over there, Manny?
UK and Clemson, they gave the game time, Ryan, 9.30.
Late one. We get the 930 start at Clemson on ESPN, which means that postgame show will start
in the middle of the night, although we'll probably be on West Coast time, so it'll be okay.
I get it. I think Kentucky fans as a whole, though, are pretty upset because the Wednesday night
doubleheader is Tennessee, Duke, Alabama, North Carolina.
We wish we were playing that instead of at Clemson on Tuesday, right?
Yeah, I think, you know, you want to be the high profile with the spotlights on the brightest
and they didn't get that doubleheader.
So tipping off, say, 930, of course, it'll be 10 later than that maybe even.
It won't be 10 because we're not in the same location.
So they'll tip it off at the right time.
But still, it's going to be 1145 or midnight before that game is over.
and I just think playing at Clemson, Drew, that's unfortunate for our fans because that's not who we want to play.
But to be honest with you, based on our results from the last couple years, it's who we get to play.
Yeah, and I'm guilty of this too.
When we're all looking ahead of the season, no one's really talking about how difficult that game could be.
But they did well in the portal.
They were, what, in the Elite 8 last year?
They had a great season, brought some players back.
That's going to be one of the harder games.
Kentucky plays all year in the regular season.
and I don't know their fan base, but maybe with the late tip,
it makes it even harder, makes it as a tougher environment.
That's going to be a wild environment.
As a matter of fact, I think you could make a strong argument that will be,
Ryan, that'll be one of our hardest games of the non-conference schedule.
Maybe the hardest.
To win at Clemson in that environment,
when we've never been there in 50 years and their crowd is going nuts,
that environment will be wild.
It'll actually be a good setup for SEC.
play. But we're going to, that environment's going to be one of our most hostile road environments
we've been in and since when? When's the last time we've played a non-conference road game that'll be
as hostile as that? Gonzaga?
May West Virginia, that West Virginia game?
I mean, that was a long time ago that West Virginia game. I mean, we've been to Kansas since then,
Kansas.
Gonzaga is probably the most recent. But I mean, we don't play many environments that are going to be
like that. No. So I think that's going to be an under.
unbelievably hard game and then you put it at 930 at night,
Kentucky's going to have to play to win that game.
Yeah, late night and a midweek game.
That's going to be tough.
It's going to be tough.
Like Drew said, Clemson's good.
I mean, we think Clemson not being a basketball power, but they are really, really good.
And their students will still be in school, okay, so they won't have gone home for break yet.
That is going to be, you know, when I sit there and look at the non-conference games,
well, I think it's harder than Louisville.
I think it's harder than Ohio State.
I think it's harder than,
it might even be harder than Duke
because Duke's on a neutral court.
I mean, Drew, could it be our hardest non-conference game?
It could be.
They've had a lot of transfers if they pan out.
I mean, they're going to be a really good team,
so it could be first true road game, right?
First true road game, that's going to be a hard game.
859-28027. We'll be right back.

Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.
There are people who come, when I asked him to go, Shannon, like, what would you
change, what would you suggest for the show?
Yeah.
There are people who literally say conflicting things.
One person writes, Matt, the way to be improved the show would be less commercials.
Even I agree with that.
But what are you going to do?
Like, I can't.
Got to pay for the show.
I mean, I don't make that decision.
less OVW talk. How much have I mentioned OVW in the last six months? I don't know that you've
hardly mentioned it maybe one time, two times the most. I really haven't because I haven't
been directly like dealing with stuff. That's probably going to change a little bit. But again,
so you're like you're complaining about something that doesn't even really happen. The commercials,
I agree. I wish we had less commercials. But we also appreciate all of our sponsors.
No, I appreciate the sponsors so much.
Right, Matt?
Every single one of them.
One person writes, Matt, my daughter goes to Eastern, and she said the girl that lives across the hall in their dorm, her mother stayed the first night with her to help her ease her transition.
Oh, my goodness.
That poor girl.
That's what I think.
That's going to haunt her.
That'll haunt her, right?
that will haunt her because she'll always be, Drew, the girl whose mom stayed the first night, right?
Wait, where did she sleep?
In the dorm room, in the bed.
In the bed with the kid?
That's what it says.
Oh, my God.
No, I would have to drop out the next day.
Can you imagine that?
There's, you know, sending food, making sure the dorms got what it needs, take care of your kid,
and then there's going way too far.
and these examples are way too far.
One person said, Matt, there's a company in Cincinnati
that if you pay $5,000, they will design your kids' dorm room decorations.
This is the kid's first opportunity to be out on their own.
Let them decorate their room by themselves, man.
Can you imagine paying someone to do?
I let my boys just do their own room at their house.
That's their space.
Do what you want to do in it.
I'm amazed, though, how many people are.
saying me they follow their kids on college kids on uh on on location you're going to find out
stuff you don't want to know you are okay so let me ask you if if you're following your kid and
you see at 4 a.m. they're at another person's house what are you doing you not going to do anything
because that's not for safety but you know you're going to ask them about you know you're going to
ask them yeah and then you're in their life yeah I don't and then you don't have a situation
Shannon where you're hiding it from your parents.
Right.
But there'll be people who do that too.
Then they leave the phone at home.
Exactly.
They'll leave their phone.
That's exactly right.
859-280-2287.
Andrew.
How are you, Andrew?
I'm doing great.
Hey, Matt.
How are you guys doing?
Doing good.
Excellent.
I am a 98 graduate of UK.
I've lived in South Carolina the last 20 years.
And my son is an engineering major at Clemson.
So there will be one person rocking the blue and white and little jobs.
I think we'll have a lot of people.
I actually think there's going to be, I would say to you, if you're someone that,
there are a lot of fans out there that are like, I like to try to go to one road game a year,
this is the one to go to because we'll never go there again probably for a long time.
And I think it'll be a great atmosphere.
Do you agree, Andrew?
Yes, I've been to several games there and I've been to see them play some big opponents like Duke,
North Carolina.
It is a very, very difficult place to play.
And it's small.
it's confined.
It's have great fan support for the big game.
So it's going to be very difficult.
If it was not the week of the Gonzaga game,
I would definitely go to that one.
And the only reason I'm going to Gonzaga is that's a six-game series,
and I personally think they're going to cancel the last two.
I think both teams are going to agree to only play four.
That was a Cal Mark Few game,
and I think UK will probably get out of the last two.
So this will be the only time we play out there
because we've already played out there once.
and so that's why I'm going or otherwise, Andrew, I would be taking us on the trip to the Clemson game.
Well, it's going to be a great atmosphere.
I look forward to it.
Yeah, appreciate the call.
So, you know.
Thank you.
Yeah, 859-28027.
Did you see Ryan, Dan Campbell, it came out why he had to move, the Lions coach.
His daughter's high school friend when they lost in the NFC championship game shared his address on the school Snapchat.
And he got a group of high school students at his daughter's high school to come and they stood outside the house yelling at the house.
Because they were on a public street and no threats were made, they didn't do anything that could lead to an arrest.
But it did scare Dan Campbell, who they lost in San Francisco and he was still with the team.
And he started getting messages from his daughter that people were outside yelling.
and he was scared for his daughter.
The police had to come,
but it all started because his daughter's classmate shared the address,
Drew, on Snapchat and the school,
a bunch of the high school boys at the school came to the house.
You shouldn't share the address.
It's a dumb high school kid move,
but I can't believe even if they're high school kids,
how you'd follow through showing up at the house and threatening.
I'm reading now in front of me it says the daughter had to leave,
she was so scared.
what is wrong with people?
Why are you going to a house?
But now Shannon and I understand why he moved, right?
Like, I mean, on some level at that point,
do you think we should have access to where,
to know where these coaches live?
No, no.
Do you think there should be, like,
there's a public record where you can find who owns every house.
Oh, I know.
People have found out where I lived.
Do you think that's good?
Or do you think that shouldn't be public record?
I wish that it weren't.
Yeah, I mean, if he moves, though,
I mean, they're going to possibly.
find where the new location is.
So what's to stop the same group of people from going out there and doing the same thing at the new house?
I was a little surprised that like going, I guess because it's a public road, going outside and
yelling at them is not a crime.
But Ryan, it does feel wrong, doesn't it?
That you can go and basically harass a coach outside their house.
Now you see why some of these people like that want to live in a gated community.
I can't imagine you're not.
At that level, you know, your high profile.
I can't imagine just living out amongst everybody else.
Like, you know, Pope is kind of out in the country, right?
But, I mean, that's how people are.
Like, is it, I don't know where Pope is.
They shared his, I don't know about his address.
Okay, so do you think like the Kentucky media should say this is where Mark Pope lives?
I don't like it personally, but, I mean, it's kind of.
You know, we kind of discussed this when we found out where Pope was going to buy a house.
You decided, you know, not bring that up.
I made the decision not to do it.
Yeah.
Because I think these people deserve privacy.
But I will say to you, Ryan, if I'm honest, I wondered where he lived, right?
Like I looked it up.
I can't remember where it was now.
But I had a, I had an, I wanted to know, but I didn't think it was good for us to say it.
At the same time, though, anyone can find it if they want to.
And I, Drew, for some reason, that just feels wrong.
to me. It does, but I take a different approach. We as adults should know better than to go bother
someone at their house, even if you do know the house. Sure, we're all guilty if we've looked at
someone's listing, some celebrity, you know, even talked about Cal's House. You're clicking
through photos, you see it. That's life. We all do it. But we should all know better than to show
up at someone's home and, you know, berate them or threaten them at their house, even if you do
know the address. That's true. But I think it's inevitable now someone's going to do it.
like you know Mitch McConnell doesn't live Shannon very far from me and if you drive over to where
his house is I'd say once a week there's people outside protesting in front of it could you imagine
having to live in life can you imagine living like that every day no no that's miserable it would
make you do like Dan Campbell and want to move yes gatey community or something hey uh touchdowns
you should get bet them at draft kings a guy yesterday did you see the video of the guy I did
who won $117,000 when Jemar Chase scored that touchdown?
He had bet.
He had bet Amari Cooper, Jonathan Taylor, and Jamar Chase first touchdowns,
and it paid $117,000.
He went nuts, which I would have too.
You can do it at Draft Kings, the Sportsbook.

Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending. Opinions are flying. And nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise.
Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines.
We go straight to the source. The athlete.
themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs,
the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to
historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context and ask the
questions everybody wants answered. Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because
when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by,
like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court,
licking his fingers, why he got the ball.
After you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.

I started living in my car, and then my car.
got stolen. I was shoplifting. I was having panic attacks. I was agoraphobic. And making it through
hardship. To be present is a learned skill. And it's hard to be present. We'll talk with John Nelson
about clinical depression and the brain implant that saved his life. What I learned is that
procedure made me happy because I'm disease-free. And we'll talk with leading experts like Judd Brewer
about anxiety and John Hirschfield about obsessive-compulsive disorder.
and the science of how the brain can change.
This is a month of deeply personal and honest conversations
about what happens when the brain goes off course

Absolutely not.

Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio.
2287. One person writes, Matt, the reason I track my kid is so I can know when they're an NFL
coach's house being a jerk. That would be a fair enough person. I think it would be good if there
was a way that like, there's got to be a technology that could say if you're like the location
would show up after a period of time if you thought something was wrong with them. You know what I
mean? Rather than it always being available. Does that make sense? Like you could, you can, yeah,
like share like for a certain amount of time or no where you could do something where it's not available
I don't know but then if somebody was missing it would be nice to have oh I got it you give it's like a
token like mom I'll give you two shares yeah something like whatever you want if you're really worried you
could use a token and it'll pop up one time yeah that's right one person writes Matt why aren't you
mentioning Shannon's tweet that got 35000 likes what is that what are they talking about I just shared
Jake Paul's video of him working out. He's got a
like a fat suit on. I thought that was clear to everybody, but
people think that that's actually his
gut. It looks like he's about eight and a half months
pregnant. And he's lifting fake weights. He's claiming that it's
500 pounds. Oh, I see. Yeah.
So you were just making a joke or something. Yeah, it was just
him trolling. And I just posted it
on Twitter thinking, okay, people are going to realize
this is fake. Ha ha. No, people
actually believe. And it's gotten like
30 million views. Of the four
of us, you probably have the least followers.
but I feel like you've had the most posts go insanely viral, like your posts about Sister Gene and stuff.
Yeah, this actually tops that.
I don't believe it.
31 million impressions right now.
31 million.
Yeah.
Wow.
You might actually get a check this month from Twitter.
Did you sign up for that thing?
I thought you had to be verified or something.
Oh, you do.
I'm not verified.
Shannon's going to start engagement for me.
That actually might have made you a little bit of money, unfortunately.
Yeah.
859-280-2-807 let's go to Russ go ahead Russ
Hey guys really really enjoyable to listen to you guys
and that's the first time I've called I've listened a long time
but you're entertaining thank you
so my thought is Mark Pope
him experiencing a national championship
experiencing that euphoria that's all surrounding that whole thing leading up to winning that.
How do you think that will, will that change how he deals with players and how he
interact?
Well, I mean, he's taking the view.
He's taking the view and let me see what you think about this.
All right.
See, when I had a conversation with him, I was going to talk about this and I'll do it more
as we get closer to Big Blue Madness.
but he basically said, here's my philosophy, Matt.
I want you to express this to the fans at some point.
And I'll do a longer version of this, you know, get closer to Big Blue Maddus.
He said that in today's college basketball, he believes with the money and all that,
it's obvious that people won't be coming as much just for the name.
But he wants to create an oasis of a place where, yes, you get the money,
but the name still matters, that rather than just selling the idea,
this is a gateway to you to another place,
or here's a lot of money, come make it.
You come here because you say,
this is a place that's special,
and I want to be here.
And he said, look, well, let me just finish.
Let me just finish a second.
So he said, look, I don't know if that will work with this generation,
but I think it will.
He said, ultimately when I say,
how is Kentucky different than,
and he mentioned some schools,
I'm not going to say what they are,
because I don't want to cause a controversy.
But when he said, how do I say Kentucky is different than this school, this school, and this school?
At the end of the day, it is this unspecifiable thing that's on the jersey and the fan base.
And he said, my job is to sell that.
And he said, I think in college basketball today, it can work.
That's where his mind is.
Do you agree with that?
Well, I mean, and I think that I hope that is the way that he goes.
I really do.
Well, I think he's going to.
Back in the day, that's what it was.
But back in the day, there wasn't NIL.
This is a different world.
So the question is,
it's different world.
So can you do that, what it used to be here probably all the way through Tubby?
Can you do that in the modern world?
Mark thinks you can.
And I hope he's right.
Yeah, I hope he's right.
Yeah.
No, I agree.
And I also hope that Mark Pope,
is a basketball, the vaunt.
Yes, thank you very much.
I appreciate the call.
What do you all think?
I mean, this will be a longer conversation we'll have in a week or two.
But do you think that theory, which is, even in this world, as long as we're competitive on the NIL, this is Kentucky, this is special and different, can still be sold to guys.
Do you believe that?
If we had to pick one guy that could sell that and do it, I think it's probably him because he knows he's been.
here. He said, I had blood on my jersey here. I think if there's anybody that could
kind of put together exactly what you just said, he's one of the few guys that could do it.
Drew, do you think he can do it? Yeah, but like with all things, you know, if you're going to
sell Kentucky on his winning tradition, you've got to keep on winning. So as long as he's having
success on the court, he can continue to package that up and sell it. Like Ryan said, nobody can
sell it better than him. But at the end of the day, got to be winning those games.
That's the case for about everything. I think it's going to be fascinating to see if it works.
but he had I sat there and listened to him for 15 minutes make this case to me
and I there was a longer version I actually wrote it down I left his office and got in my car
and wrote down all he said because I wanted to be able to articulate it the way he
articulated it um as best I could but it was a multiple step thing of look obviously the
NIL will have to be obviously we have to win but what will make
Kentucky, Kentucky is this thing that the jersey and the place represents.
And he said, I don't think he was being rude to cow or anything, but he said,
I think we've gotten away from that.
And now it's time to get it back.
Because he said, while Rick was awesome, ultimately what made me, meaning Mark Pope
come, was that.
And I want guys who believe in that.
It's an interesting thing.
It is.
I hope it works.
Because if it works and then you win like that, Shannon, it'll, it'll,
feel even better.
Yeah, being competitive with the NIO is key.
You know, if I got two offers and Kentucky's in the ballpark,
I'm probably going to take Kentucky because it is the University of Kentucky
and all of the history that they have and what the university represents.
Yeah.
I mean, I think it worked.
Jasper Johnson's a perfect example of the theory.
They got the NIO.
He did not get his biggest NIL offer from here,
but they got it close enough that then all that other stuff sold it.
that's what I think they're trying to do.
Tim, go ahead, Tim.
It's like trying to explain Disney World to someone that's never been to
Disney World.
That's probably a good analogy, yeah.
That's the best way I can think of.
A couple things.
The Lions coach, you were talking about him.
He just planned poorly.
You can hide where you live.
With an LLC or something?
You can LLC, you can put an LLC and you can make the CEO of that LC,
your mother-in-law, you can put it in an attorney's name and be a silent partner in LLC.
There are so many ways to hide it.
He just didn't think he'd be there long enough for it to matter.
And then live in a con.
Live on the 15th floor of a building.
Little John Arena, and I got tickets.
It's a logistical nightmare at 930.
The closest, I live in South of Hilton Head.
So the closest you're going to stay is Greenville, which is an hour and a half away.
And that's going to be booked.
And then you're going to have to go to Columbia.
It's just an awful time in kind of a bad place.
Yeah, there's not much in Clemsonps.
you're right.
Nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
We are brainwashed living in Louisville and Lexington
and thinking all these college towns have infrastructure
where in the south, they just don't.
There's nothing there.
That's a good point.
That's a really good point for people to think about
when they're thinking about going.

And they thought it was like the best city in terms of people being kind to them.
Y'all don't read it.
We've had a lot of weird news in this state in the last week or week that made it feel odd.
but that's Kentucky right there.
So find that post.
I'll try to...
I think I post it on Twitter, actually.
So I think people...
I'll give it a read later.
