It's a good question. I didn't touch anything. Okay, well, we'll figure it out. You know, with Rick, you never know what's going to happen. But we, great crowd here, and I have to tell you, you know, I was driving up here and I said, I don't know, man. I don't know if anybody's going to be out there today because of the weather and tall said, you know what?

I bet they're there, and they are. So thank you all very much. Give yourselves a round of applause. for coming out in this weather. Now, during the break, we went over there and kind of looked at it. You know, after having watched the spin, I'm worried I'm going to fall down. And the biggest thing to me, I don't mind losing. I don't want to trip and have that on video.

So that's my biggest concern about whether or not I spin is so I don't fall. I think you have to spend to win. Yeah, you do. Spend to win. But you saw I almost spun and fell flat on my face on the first one. Yeah. Well, you are dealing with vertigo. I don't know if spinning should be the thing that you do.

a lot of. I think you get more carry when you spin. If you do what I did on the second one, and you don't spin, it just kind of goes, so we'll have the video out later today. Mario will put it out. But right now, Ryan's at first, Mario and second, and Shannon in a very disappointing, sad third place. I would like to apologize to all of my sponsors today. I just didn't have my A-game today.

I'll do better next time. So Billy Drew and I will do it towards the end of the hour. Now, Kentucky basketball, Drew, is going through this week what used to be called Hell Week. Cameron Mills came out and said, because Rick Petino would call it Hell Week. Apparently now they've decided to call it Banner Week because they said Hell Week is a little harsh. But it is Banner Week, and it's basically two a days, essentially. You get up at 6.30 in the morning, you run, you get in shape. Petino was known for this. Cal did a version of it, but I don't think it was as harsh. Some of the players are saying

some of the hardest practices they've had in their life. But Mark Pope says it's these practices that make you win a banner. Do you like that? I like it. I'm a little more vulgar. I'm going to call it Hell Week because that's what it is. People are familiar with Hell Weeks. They've had Hell Weeks before.

I'm sticking with that. I believe you get 20 hours a week to practice. So Pope's basically giving them four a day, five days, you know, two and two, two days, two-hour practices and just giving them as much as they can take. Rock Oliver had the stories of back in the day. with Petino where he'd bring the trash cans and put them at the baseline and the help if you got to throw up I don't know if it's that extreme but you know Pope came up that kind of conditioning I wouldn't be surprised if it's right there just like the Patino style back in those days Ryan when you were covering the team you guys had a lot

more access than we have not we have now so you probably know what these practices are like even more than we do what were they like well like you guys said Pope is a disciple of Patino and they the hell week was running more running a lot more running and and more running. And there's these famous stories of poor Nasi Muhammad just throwing up like every other minute. And these guys having to run a mile. And if you didn't make a certain time, you got to run it again. I mean, it was this awful, awful stories.

These legends have happened during Petino's Hell Week. Pope said, I don't know if we'll be the best team, but we will be in the best shape this year of any other team. Do you like that? I love it. Yeah, and I also love the focus that he's putting on banners. You know, everything that he does seems to be team-oriented. He's got the focus of winning the title. He knows that that's what fans care about, and that's banners.

By the way, they put out the final times and schedules for all the games. Kentucky, basically this year, once SEC plays, you can kind of set your calendar. They only play on Tuesdays and Saturday. They have one Wednesday game, but otherwise it's all Tuesdays, all Saturdays. And of their games, this is what I, this shows even with, I mean, look, Cal's a huge draw. Arkansas is going to be on national TV a lot. lot more than they used to be. But even with a new coach, Kentucky is still Kentucky, of their 18 games, 16 of the SEC games they play are either on ESPN, ABC, or ESPN 2. The SEC

network only gets two of them, and those are guaranteed by contract. So literally, the amount of games that they can play on ESPN, ESPN is taking all of them. Cal always said it, the gold standard. That's not because of any coach or any single player. Kentucky is going to be Kentucky. Hopefully that stays the case for a long time. were good because you remember that was like that that one year during COVID and we were on national TV getting beat every game hopefully that's not the case is you network executives aren't stupid they know they get the ratings when Kentucky's on and that's why they want Kentucky on as much as possible on their prime time channels is billy over here changing shoes well yeah billy's over here

billy's taking this too seriously but uh he is he does not want to come in last you and lv there's a there's a addendum to the store so the guy said he was owed $100,000 didn't get paid it. The executive of a casino in Vegas came out and said, I'll tell you what, I'm a UNLV fan. I'll give him the $100,000 if he comes back. And apparently the coach said, we don't want him. Barry Odom said, we don't want your $100,000. We'll deal without him. That's quite a stance, a principled stance to say, Ryan, but what if they go and lose now because they don't have him?

Yeah, I respect the coach taking that stand, but now you've got to back it up. you have to go out and win. You better hope that backup quarterback. Maybe he's worth the $100,000. You better hope that he can come in and get the job done. If not, it's now on you, the coach. But the casino came out and said, we will, we'll pay for it. And I'm an NIL booster.

We'll pay for it. And Drew, apparently the coaching staff said no. Yeah, if you're Barry Odom, you know, it's part of your problem. You owed them there. Odom a lot. I don't, you just can't, you just keep your locker room together because the casino offered you cash. I think at this point, he has to do what he did.

That's a bad look letting a guy just quit on you then bringing him back because the local casino dropped you a bag I would like to know like what the players think like that would be really One player put on social media finally we get to play the other quarterback Oh really? Okay, well maybe they didn't like it I think the players might be around around But what's crazy is this is not this team beat Kansas in Houston I mean Kansas was ranked at the top 25 preseason like they beat a good team So it is interesting to me that you know, I mean, imagine Vandergriff just left.

And I, unbelievable. Anyway, go ahead. Yeah. So the question is, if you had children and you had to pick of the UK basketball coaches from Rupp to Pope, rank those in order of who you would most trust to watch them. Are you saying to trust to watch them or to make them the best player they can be? Just to watch them. Like, they have to make sure this child doesn't do something crazy for 24 hours. Okay, well, then if it's make sure my kid doesn't get in trouble,

then I would say tubby is number one. He's number one. If you're saying make sure my kid doesn't get in trouble, I would go, tubby's one, Billy Gillespie is certainly last. Eddie Sutton next to last. And Eddie Sutton's next to last. And even though I love Joe B. Hall, he'd be right before that just because they kind of let him do whatever they wanted back then.

So I'd probably go tubby I you know I don't know how to place Rupp I'll just leave Rupp out I'll say Tubby Pope Cal Rick

Joby Eddie Billy That's that's the order Rick didn't even know what his kids were doing Yeah but at Kentucky he was different At Kentucky he was a lot more stringent at Kentucky than he was at Louisville What about you?

Yeah that's it I love that old. Tubby definitely number one. Pope definitely number two. The Cal and Petino going three and four. You know, I think both of those guys are good dads. I really do. I agree.

And so I don't think it's got anything to do with the basketball. We're talking about just being a dad. And Joe B was an awesome dude, but the dudes kind of did what they wanted back then, right? Isn't that fair to say? You know, there's a little ins and outs at Wildcat Lodge back in those days. Yeah. So that would be, now, if you're talking about who would I want my son to play for as a coach, then it may be different.

Then I think that's a completely different list. If my kid is an NBA caliber player, Shannon, NBA caliber, then I'm probably taking Cal. Agree. One, Patino, two, Joe B. Wow. Well, Pope hasn't put a guy in the NBA yet. I need to see it, right? No tubby.

No tubby. See, those four are tough. Billy still last. I mean, Billy's still last. Billy's last. I think it's tough. Now, if I'm just talking about, let's say I'm Travis Perry's dad, okay? Then Pope might be number one.

True. Pope might be number one. Then maybe Joe B. Rick. Cowell might be next to last if I'm Travis Perry's dad, Drew, because I don't know if my kid will get to play in that system. I was going to say that. If it's my kid, they're standing in the corner and shooting open threes not athletic at all. I don't think they would work in Cal system whatsoever.

I'd need him in Popes and just hope they get some open looks. Travis Perry is the biggest winner, Shannon, of the decision for Mark Pope to go here. I think he went from a kid that would have not played a lot, and probably Cal would have struggled to make himself put in, to a kid that I don't know how much he'll play this year, but he will be playing at Kentucky under Mark Pope. I think nobody got a better situation than Travis did with the change. I feel like Travis Perry under Cal would be like, oh, yeah, that's the guy you want me to play, huh?

And we'd almost be defiant about it. No, he would be defiant. Travis Perry under Cal is Dante Allen, where everybody's going, we want him to play, and then they don't put him in. That's what I think. Pope will embrace him. Pope, oh, for sure. I think Travis is going to play this year. I'm not sure how much Trent Noah is going to play this year, but I do think Travis Perry will play some this year.

If he retires the end of the year, him staying on being kind of ambassador to help with donor relations. Yeah, I think – First of all, I had one something – I said one thing wrong about Stoops' contract. I said Stoops didn't have a buyout. That got changed in the most – he actually now has a $3.5 million buyout,

which is not an absurd amount of money. That's actually – if somebody wanted to hire him, that would be no impediment. But it does exist. I didn't realize that. I had that wrong. I think the person that will have the ambassador role if they finish is probably Vince, Ryan, more than Mark. I kind of, this is just my view.

I think, you know, Mark's family's not here. I don't know that Mark will stay around when he leaves. I kind of could see Vince living here forever, honestly. I do, too. You know, Vince married a local gal. You know, they live here in Lexington, and I can see him having a home here for the rest of his life, actually. Yeah. That Stubbs has two boys that might play some level of college football.

I think that's right. I want to go be near them. Very true. Yeah, and they live, I think, in Colorado or something like that. So I just, I don't see a world. Plus, the other thing, you've got to be careful, Shannon. You got to be careful about any bond you make with somebody that's for life, because things can change.

Oh, yeah. I mean, we're saying that as two single people. But, I mean, you also have to be like a work relationship that can't end, I think is a, you got to be sure about that. You've got to be very, very careful with that because things can change for the worst. By the way, as of now, for those of you listening for the larger than life, they're saying 5 o'clock as of now is when they will open the doors in Louisville. Okay, so I guess we miss all the early bands.

So all you got to do is pick a money line parlay, just the team to win. Last week, Drew ruined it for us. So Drew, I'll let you go first.

Who you got? My pick was an underdog. So now I got to pick an underdog if you want. Well, I have an 18-point underdog. No, no. You got to pick it. It's a money line. So somebody else's start.

I've got to find a new pick. All right, I'm going to pick. For my pick, I'm picking Texas A&M to win at home against Arkansas. They're a five and a half point favorite. I think Arkansas isn't good. Texas A&M didn't play well in that first game and people have undervalued them. I'll take Texas A&M to win at home against Arkansas. Washington on the road plus one and a half.

I'm going to take Washington over Rutgers. You're going to take Washington to win at Rutgers? That's a little bit of a gamble. I like it. What about you? Big 10 matchup there, Washington and Rutgers. I hate to pick Auburn to lose two weekends in a row, but I'm going to pick them to lose again.

I got Oklahoma at Auburn. Oklahoma at Auburn. Okay, so we got Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Washington, and Drew, who's yours? I am now calling in Omaha, and I like Kansas State to beat your boy, Mike Gundy. Ollie Gordon is not the running back. He's supposed to be this year. He averages like 60 yards. I think that's a really good one, actually.

Kansas State, Texas A&M. Oklahoma and Washington, all just to win. That'll probably be with those spreads seven to one or something like that. So I actually think, Shannon, that's a really good pick. I think I like where we are. We got it this week. I thought what do you guys would pick Louisville and Notre Dame. I kind of had a funny feeling somebody was going to go with that one.

I would have picked Louisville, though, and that would have been a huge. I think Louisville's going to win at Notre Dame as much as I hate it. I liked Illinois at Penn State, but not 18 and a half as a money line. Did you see the last game for the Oakland A's yesterday? Did you all see any of it? I thought one of the saddest things I've ever seen. First of all, they brought all the former players back, so you had all these, like, you know, Konseko, you had Eckerslie, you had all these guys.

But the saddest thing was they had the groundskeeper, who for 31 years has worked on the field every day for 31 years. They showed him as he came out to finish the field for the final time, he just started bawling, crying. And he was sad. I actually thought that was a really sweet thing. This man had worked on this ground for 31 years, and because they're moving, he's not moving, and his career is over, and he was crying. He poured his heart and soul into that field and making sure that it was in pristine condition. Ricky Henderson, on the other hand, seemed to not care at all. He said, I have too much money to care.

Is that what he said? Yeah, that was his quote. No, he didn't. Billy, back me up. Wait a minute. Ricky Henderson said I have too much money to care. Ricky's got too much money Ricky don't care

He did not say that really They asked him if he said I have too much money to care That's one of the worst quotes I've ever heard of all time I kind of like it I don't care I'm loaded How it's like why are you here then Then why'd you come yeah

Well anyway so they're now moving They're going to play in a minor league stadium For two years The Oakland A's will but until they get the Los Vegas I didn't expect all the sad fans Oh, here we go. They asked, are you sad about the fact this is Oakland's last game? His quote was, I can't be sad.

I have too much money. I love it. Quarter of the year. That's a awesome point. That is an unbelievable quote. That's the first time I saw that. Like that Reds jersey there. That's a Dion Sanders Reds jersey over there.

Right. Who's next? Mark is up next. Mark, go ahead, Mark. Hey, guys. I know you are enjoying the haybell toss today. I just wanted to remind everybody, you know, October is just right around the corner, and it's time for the bail trail. in khakis beat us hey he's caught to any trash at all I think what he's really excited about is that he beat shannon because I do think that what is controversial that you made me throw back to back and Ryan and Mario both had a rust in between no one no one was right now what else you got sir here's the question has Billy talked any trash at all because if he hasn't he's one to watch out for it. He's like quiet guys that just knows he's got it, has got it. He hasn't talked a lot of trash. I'll give him that.

I appreciate the call. He has not been too trash-worthy. Let me ask you a question, Ryan, about Brock Van derriff tomorrow. What's the amount of yards he's got to throw for us for us to go win? I mean, he's got to have a good game because they've got to find a way to keep the running game going. So he's passing. He's going to have to be very effective. I want to say he's got to get at least 180.

Well, I think he's got to get more than that because I think it's going to have to be Need to be in the twos. I think it's going to be like 220, Drew, 230, something like that, because I think we're going to have to have some big plays. In the 200s, for Kentucky to win, they're going to have to do what they did to Georgia and grind it out, run, play defense. But he's going to have to take some shots. He's going to have to hit him.

You know, Gain Key on a third and four, send him, let's see what happens. He's going to have to hit a few of those. It's not going to be a game where Van Griff's throwing it 30 times and carves him up and down the field, but he's going to have to hit some shots. But there's no way we're going to hold Ole Miss to under 20. Right. I mean, I just don't think there's any way we hold them to under 20. They score it too much, which means I think we have to score in the 20s.

And the only way we're going to score in the 20s, Shannon, is if he hits a couple deep passes. Yeah, and how many attempts do you think that Brock is actually going to have? I mean, he is averaging, what, 15 or something like that, a game? Well, I hope we're moving the ball enough that he has as a bunch. And how do you get into 200s when you're only throwing the ball 15 times? you better have a lot of completions. That's the thing. They're going to run the ball so much.

I don't know how much they're actually going to throw. Well, I don't see any way, Drew, we don't, that we stop them completely. They score too much. I mean, no one's going to stop them. You do. We have to score in the 20s, in my opinion, to have a chance. Maybe the 30s, but certainly the 20s. I agree.

I mean, even in a good game with some good defense, they can get 24 points. Oh, Miss. Just because they're, as Stoops has said all week, they just stress you and put so much pressure. If you get caught with your tongue hanging out one time, one play. That's when you look up and they've scored six. That's the thing about it. The thing that makes these games tough against Ole Miss,

you can play two and a half quarters of great defense. And then in one play, they'll go 80 yards, and all of a sudden they've scored. I mean, they have that kind of ability in a way that, I don't know how many teams in the country. Tennessee has that. Maybe Georgia has it, but there's not too many. 859-280-2287.

Yes. I want to give a couple things here scheduling-wise. First of all, we will open the bar. at 11 o'clock tomorrow. Games at noon, I would say get there early to get a seat for Kentucky Ole Miss. It'll be a great atmosphere. And plus with all this rain, you could probably get there and get yourself a table. But we open at 11.

Our pregame show tomorrow morning for all of you listening starts at 9. I will be in Oxford. These guys will be in Lexington, but I will be in Oxford. I don't think Ole Miss is defensive line. It's getting enough credit. Yeah, they're good. I've heard. Right, I've heard that they may have the, perhaps may have the best two. defensive tackled combos in the league. Yeah, I mean, it's Old Miss or Michigan

with that. And by the way, Kentucky was able to run on Georgia. If Kentucky's able to run on Old Miss, then I think you can say pretty confidently we can run on anybody in the country, because those are two of the five best defensive lines in the country. So if we're able to run on them, that is a good sign

for the rest of the year. But go ahead. And two questions. I'll get off here. A freshman running back, Tervani Maselle. He's not been on the injury list. I never heard about him on a death chart. What's going on with him? I don't know.

Do you know that? I haven't heard. That's a name that I heard before the season, but I haven't heard one thing, Ryan. Have you? No. No, I don't know when they're going to get Patterson back. He's a guy that can really help him when they're so thin with Chip-Train-em out.

He looked good when he got a couple carries early. If it ends up being the case that Chip-Train-em is out for the year, they're going to have to find somebody else because right now they just have two. When Patterson gets back, they'll have three, but even then, you're probably going to need a fourth or something at some point, Drew, so somebody else is going to have to play, I would assume. Yeah, this is SEC football. You can't have three scholarship players when one was in high school last year, and the other one's a red shirt that just got a couple carries a year ago. They've done a great job of picking up the slack for four weeks, but to ask them to do that for the whole year. That's a lot.

I mean, there were, was it last year we had like six running backs and that could play. It had been nice if one or two of them had been able to see. stay because that would have been very helpful. Who's up next? Got Brent up next. Brent, go ahead, Brett. Hey, man, how are you guys doing? Good.

Hey, so just about the game tomorrow, I'm interested to watch it, not because I think Kentucky will win, but just to see how they respond. I feel like we've had, like, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde kind of start to the season, and if they can do well tomorrow, I think I'll be excited about the rest of the the rest of the season. If not, then I think we might be in for a little. I totally agree with you. I totally agree with you. I appreciate the call. If Kentucky Ryan is competitive tomorrow, and look, I want to win. But if they're competitive tomorrow, then I go into that Vandy, Florida, Auburn, Louisville stretch of games and feel like, okay, we can win all those. There's still something to play for.

If we go out and get whipped tomorrow, then it starts to look like, well, maybe Georgia was the kind of fluke, and I don't know what's going to happen. I think tomorrow, especially because there's a by week, Big Blue Madness is right after that. I think to keep this fan base engaged in football, tomorrow has to be a competitive game. I agree. I have confidence in our defense.

I think our defense will definitely be competitive enough and keep us in the game. I'm working on our offense. If our offense is able to have some success tomorrow, then I do feel optimistic about the rest of those games. Do you agree? I think this fan base got re-excited by Georgia, but it will go away if we take our.

a whipping tomorrow. Definitely. But if you play them well or even pull it off, you know, every team has a dud. Maybe we can just say, that's South Carolina week. Something was just off. We still have a good product moving forward, but that's only if you give Ole Miss a great game

and potentially even win it. Shannon, there's a few things I see in Billy here that make me think he's focused. First of all, he's not wearing his glasses. Okay. Right, so he doesn't have on his glasses. He has stared straight ahead this entire hour and a half. Manly prepared.

He has on a local T-shirt, hoping probably to get the crowd on his side. He hasn't left the two-passed champions. He has not. He has been sitting there taking coaching the entire time. I still think I don't, I think your pathetic throw, Shannon, means he's not going to come in last. But he's looking like he wants to win, right?

He's tired of being ranked last. He wants to get a victory. Well, I think yesterday he really heard his feelings about the radio voice. I think that hurt him more than anything. You think he's mad. Go talk to Marissa. Marissa is mad about all these other things more so than Billy. Is this what's going to happen with the Ole Miss fans?

Oh, okay. They have, like, I mean, wonderful setup. It's an amazing place. And tomorrow, it will be maybe soggy, but it'll be ready to go. Kentucky comes in as a 16-point favorite right now. Drew, I'll let you go first. Give me who's going to win and who the MVP is. I'm not going to say who's going to win and give them the pleasure,

but Kentucky will cover that spread. I think it'll be a close game. Give me a score. I'm going to. I trust the defense. You know, Ole Miss, their average victories, like 48 points a game, not against Kentucky. I think it comes down to maybe even the fourth quarter.

I'll say 2316. 2316. Who's your MVP? Zion Children's still on fire from the Georgia game two weeks ago. All right. Ryan, before you do yours, Dane Key had a massive game. last week. Do you feel like that momentum continues this week?

I think they found a little him and Bush Hamden had a little confidence now in that Dane, Brock the Dane connection. So I think they might go to that a lot more often, especially like when Drew said, third and four. Why not give it to the big guy? Let him go after him. You know, 60 years ago yesterday, Kentucky played Ole Miss when Ole Miss was number one in the country, and Kentucky beat Ole Miss 60 years ago yesterday.
