Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, here at the KS Bar and
We're open for lunch and dinner and all the food in between all day.
Come see us.
We'll be here today, tomorrow, and Wednesday.
So come join us.
A couple people writing in on the text machine.
How about this?
Well, first of all, I just posted a video of the exit.
Some fan took of the exit of old mess.
Oh, I want to see that.
Take a look at that.
And I just, if you're a claustrophobic person, go look on Twitter.
Ryan, look at that video and tell me if that, why that was.
wouldn't freak you out a little bit. And you're, like you said, you're not really one of those guys
that like, I'm okay with crowds. I don't mind crowds, but the, my goodness. And you see,
there's nowhere to go. Like, you're stuck right there. And there's nothing you can do. That's a safety
hazard, man. To me, it is. And it's just like that when you walk out of the building, too. It's,
it's, it's kind of crazy. One person writes, Matt, what did you think about Rick Patino
congratulating the UK football team after? Well, he's a booster.
That's right.
He's a donor.
So, I mean, of course he's going to congratulate him.
He donates our NIL.
He should be happy.
Still, one of the most surprising things out of the Mark Stoop announcement was Rick Petino
admitting that he donates to the NIL of UK football.
Shannon, if you're a Louisville fan, how mad do you have to be that after he was the coach at Louisville,
he is donating to UK football and like putting, because it's clear he loves us more than he loves his other children.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, he's not donating to UVVL.
So if you're U of L, you got to hate that.
Even though we didn't love him back for a long time.
He loves us more than he loves them.
Isn't that right?
I think that's true.
And that's why he was happy.
He's celebrated.
He's a booster.
He's one of us.
Bring him back.
Well, I mean, I think he's already, he'll be.
I mean, remember a couple years ago we debate, do you think he'll ever come back?
Like, now the answer is certainly yes, isn't it?
100% he's coming back.
And it's probably going to be next season because it'll be what the 30-year anniversary of the 96 championship team.
I think that's probably what will happen.
One person writes, is this the best national publicity Kentucky football has gotten in a long time?
Yeah.
I mean, I don't know when you'd have to probably go back to when we beat LSU.
Right.
I mean, that's probably, you've got to go back to probably LSU 07 to see us get the, because the thing is the noon games.
we were in the main slot at noon.
The other games weren't that close.
It felt like the whole country was watching us.
And then Alabama, Georgia overshadowed us that night because that game was amazing.
But I would say it was the second biggest story in college football that day, right?
I mean, you probably had Alabama, Georgia were first, and we were probably second.
And it was the number one story in college football leading up to the Georgia Alabama games.
So everybody was talking about it, you know, on the game day.
The pregame shows everybody's talking about Kentucky's upset of Ole Miss before the Alabama-Georgia game.
Matt, another person writes, what are our chances of the playoff?
Yeah, I said it.
What are the chances?
Well, not high, but...
Okay.
Go ahead.
Look, let me just say, I know it's not going to happen.
But I'm still going to play it out.
You get a week off.
you go beat
Vandy
You go beat Auburn
You go to be Ford
There you go
Now you're six and two
And you should be favored
In all three of those games
I would think
Should be favored in all three of those
Now you're six and two
Then you play Tennessee
Then you play
Murray State
We'll just say we'll win that
Yeah
That's seven
Tennessee Texas Louisville
If we're going to make it
We have to beat Louisville
So I'm just going to say
We have to beat Louisville
So that would be
to. Now, Tennessee and Texas, it's going to be really hard to win any of those. I grant you that.
But I do think if you won one of those, you don't have to want them both. If you won one of those,
and you were nine and three, and you beat Old Miss on the road, and you beat either Tennessee or
Texas on the road, and you played Georgia within one point, and then if we can kind of root to
for Louisville, maybe they're nine and two when they come in here?
I think you'd be a contender, Ryan.
I mean, you would with that schedule.
Now, I'm not saying it's going to happen.
I don't think it's going to happen.
But there is a world where you could go into that Texas game.
Let's say we lose to Tennessee.
There's a world where you could go into that Texas game in Austin and say,
If we win this, we have a shot next week to play for the player against Louis.
That is not like, well, let's, I mean, I think it's not likely, but it's very possible that you could, can you beat Vandy,
beat Florida, beat Auburn, lose to Tennessee, beat Murray State, and go to Austin going, if we were to win today, we have a shot?
That can happen, can it?
It's a conversation you can absolutely have.
Yes, that scenario you just laid out.
Going down to Austin, Texas with a chance.
You could go to Austin with a chance to say if we can somehow pull this out.
Yep.
We're playing Louisville next weekend with a shot.
Now, we need other things to happen.
We need Louisville to have a good season.
Yes.
As much as I hate it, we kind of do.
And we need other teams to lose.
We need to root for chaos at the top.
We need to root for chaos.
Do we root for Ole Miss to not win out?
Probably.
but we need Missouri to lose games, right?
We need some stuff to happen because they're not going to take more than five from the SEC.
So if you assume Alabama and Georgia got two of them, Texas and Tennessee four,
so we're probably going to have to be better than Old Miss in Missouri, right?
Yeah.
Well, we've beaten Old Miss, so we need Missouri to lose some games.
That's what you would kind of need to happen because I don't think they would take more than five.
So I think you'd need some chaos, but it's not, I mean, Ryan, it's not crazy.
I'm with you.
I think it's maybe a little unlikely, but at least we can have the conversation about it because it's on the table now after what you just did win at Ole Miss.
And I will say, if we get to the point that we go into Tennessee six and two or whatever it is, can you imagine if we had beaten Georgia?
Oh, my.
Or not lost to South Carolina.
know, then that's a whole different conversation.
Makes me just canal.
We're all going to wonder what the heck happened, South Carolina.
I feel all that happened in South Carolina.
But we can't look too far ahead.
We got Vandy coming in here in two weeks.
And the last time they came, they beat us.
Last time they were here, they embarrassed us.
And they beat Virginia Tech this year.
Right?
And they played Missouri down to the last play.
That's true.
Should have beat Missouri.
So think something to remember.
All right.
Who's up first?
Justin.
Justin.
Go ahead, Justin.
Yes, I have a couple things.
The first thing is thinking back from how we lost to Ole Miss in 21
and how so many things just have gone wrong,
the disappointing losses over the last three years
to finally getting a legit win.
We didn't just, that was not a fluke win.
That was a legit win with a legit defense.
And then to see Mark Stoops at the end of the game,
how he was fist pumping to the fans,
he needed that win badly.
I think to not just for his coaching career,
but I think he wanted a big win to connect with the fans again.
And to see him like that,
that really,
that made me ready to run through a brick wall.
I mean, it's the answer to the question,
and I appreciate the call.
People always ask the question,
what is Mark Stoops?
Where's his signature win?
I think this is it.
Yes.
I think this is it.
I mean,
you now can say Mark Stoops broke the Florida streak.
He took us to back-to-back,
you know, 10 win,
or two out of four, three,
whatever, 10 win seasons.
And now I think this is his signature win.
And as far as like it being a fluke or not, it's not a fluke,
we got some breaks, but two years ago, the breaks all went against it.
So I feel like the Ole Miss game breaks have kind of evened out.
Yeah, we might have got a couple this time, but they got a couple the last time.
And so I think it kind of evens out.
Yeah, that game was it five years ago,
and Ruffalo missed the extra point.
Okay.
Now it's their turn.
They missed a kick this time.
Well, I'm even talking about two years ago when Levis got her.
And that was, you know, with Dane's touchdown,
that got pulled off the board down there last time we were down there.
You know, it was Kentucky's turn to beat Ole Miss on the 60-year anniversary weekend
of when we beat them when they were number one in the country.
Now, I think you and I are going to disagree about this one.
Okay.
But I want to hear what you think about the state street celebrations after the game.
There are videos that, you know, they set stuff on fire.
They were going crazy.
Students, you know, it wasn't a ton,
but students kind of swarming the streets and parties.
and like it was a national title.
My guess is you're going to have a different opinion about this to me.
So what was your take-up?
I just don't know.
Where is it ever okay to set a fire in the middle of a street?
Ever, anywhere.
It's not okay.
And with the police officer standing right there,
they're like letting them do it.
I just don't get it why that's okay to do that.
Did it make you mad?
Like when you saw that video,
that I think the Kentucky Colonel put out of all of them doing it.
Did it make you upset?
It made me a little embarrassed that we're celebrating a road win at Ole Miss
by burning couches at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
All right, Shannon, what about you?
It didn't make me mad, but I don't know that that's something you want to burn a couch over.
I thought we reserved that for championships.
I mean, I know it's a big win, but I don't understand burning a couch for that win.
What's yours?
So it didn't bother me.
I mean, they shouldn't set things on.
fire like that because it could be dangerous, right?
But it also felt like to me it was in the middle of the street.
It was kind of contained.
I wasn't embarrassed by, look, they're in college.
You know, people do stupid things in college, right?
Like, that's part of it.
I think the, I wasn't embarrassed at all about us being excited about it.
Right.
Right.
Now, whether we should set things on fire, we probably shouldn't.
But I wasn't like the, I.
I don't think there's anything wrong, Shannon, with being really excited.
This is the biggest, I mean, but statistically, it's the biggest football win of my lifetime.
If we can't get excited about that, when are we going to get excited?
Plus, do you know how hard it is to get rid of a couch?
You can't just set that out for the garbage to take.
You can't even donate them a lot.
I tried to donate a couch.
They wouldn't take it.
Oh, so you're saying it's okay to do it so you can get rid of the couch.
I've got this old couch I want to burn.
That's a perfect excuse.
Let's just go set it on fire.
That's the best way to do it.
There are things that are hard to get rid of.
Yeah.
Have you ever tried to get rid of one?
You can't just go dump it somewhere.
See, where I live, Shannon, I can leave anything on the street and people will take it.
Oh, really?
Okay.
Oh, yeah.
I'm amazed at what people will take.
Like, I, you know, there's a lot of stuff that my mom sort of cleaned out for me.
She did that as a favor to me while I was gone.
She was like, I'll take clean some of your house out.
And some of that stuff before she came, you know, your mom's coming to, I'm like, I need to pre-clean for my mom to clean.
Oh, yeah.
And so I took like a bunch of bags and stuff and put them outside.
And they were gone within 10 minutes.
Like people will take anything.
I'm bringing my garbage to your house.
Yeah, what they're not going to your garbage to my house.
But if you have like, you know, I have a TV, I had a TV from like 1988, put it out.
It was gone in five minutes.
I'm like, who wanted this?
But somebody does.
Well, if you've got any kind of furniture, you can put it out there.
Usually these guys, they, you know, scan the neighborhoods looking for that because they can
refinish it and sell it and make a profit on it.
Why don't you pull that car to the front yard and so I can get rid of it for you?
If I could get the car to the front yard.
The problem is it hasn't moved in 15 years and is starting to sink into the ground.
So it's becoming hard.
What's next?
Clay.
Clay, go ahead, Clay.
Matt, I got a few things.
I'm just a little confused as to why people don't believe me anymore.
I mean, this is not a shocker to me.
We are one of the best teams here.
I mean, we're better than Ole Miss.
We're really better than Georgia.
I mean, my other thing is, I mean, you mean to tell me that you at LV could beat us?
No, U and LV can't beat us, but the way the playoff is set up, somebody gets in.
I think the better question, Clay, is, okay, leave everything else aside.
If you're just saying, not resume, just who's good, right?
Who's like, where do you think we are as a team in just who's good?
Like if the rankings were just how good are you?
Where do you think Kentucky is?
So a great question.
I think, I think maybe LSU could beat us.
I think maybe Alabama can beat us.
I don't think Georgia could be.
I think we should have beat.
I think they did.
And then I think South Carolina can obviously beat us because South Carolina beat us.
So I think there's a lot of teams that can beat us.
But do you think, and I appreciate the call, Ryan, do you think,
think we are one of the 20 best teams in the country?
I think the answer to that, by the way, is yes.
I think we are today, absolutely.
I think we proved it after what we just did this past weekend.
We deserve that.
Let me put it a different way.
We're in the Big 12.
Could we win it?
Yes.
I think we could.
Yes.
I genuinely think we could win the Big 12.
I'm not saying we would.
We could.
But I think we could.
Uh-huh.
I think we could win the ACCCC.
Yeah.
I'm not saying we would, but I think we could.
And then I don't think we could win the Big Ten, but I don't think the Big Ten is all that much worse than the SEC.
It's not as deep as the SEC.
But I do think we're one of the 20 best teams.
Now, whether we're 10 or 20 depends on how the next few weeks go.
I think we have a top, I think we have a playoff-level deep.
I don't think we have a playoff level offense, but I do think we have a playoff level defense.
I think we've proven our Kentucky defense is one of the best in the country.
I think a lot of how we progress from here on out is going to be on Brock.
And Brock continues to improve and play the way he's been playing.
I think there are some lot of wins out there still for this football team.
Yeah.
Court physical therapy.
If you need physical therapy, where are you going to go?
You're going to go to court.
You know, not all of us can move and slide as well as Billy and throw those hay bales.
A lot of us are more like Shannon.
and can't toss it more than three or four feet.
So you go to court physical therapy, you get stretched out, K-O-R-T.com.
It's court physical therapy, help you move, help you relax,
and help you get back to where you were before your injury.
No doctor's referral needed.
It's court.com.
That's K-O-R-T.com.
We need an update, by the way, on what happened with the actual hay tossing over the weekend.
Yeah, they had a new champion.
Oh, they did?
Really?
I got the text message.
Somebody knew one.
Neither of the two guys that were there, neither of them won.
Our boy Darrell and Steve.
Yeah, someone new one.
I'm not sure who it was, but I think they had a new winner.
We'll take a break.
We'll be right back.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows, without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers,
why he got the ball, like,
After you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.

Absolutely.
Now a redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip, just a little bit bigger hips, wider.
This is a podcast.
We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey.
With all the snacks and drinks.
Sidebar.
Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer?
They had a bogo.
Well, then you got it.
Do you want a white collar or something here?
Just take it.
What are y'all doing?
Microphones?
Are you making a rap album?
Oh, I would.
Come on.
I would buy it.
Cut through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake.
That sounds delicious.
Oh, you're lucky.
I'm not a drug.
You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic.
You're lucky I'm not a killer.
I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on.
Oh.

Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time.

I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do.
So let's talk about it.
Join me on my new podcast.
How Hard Can It Be with the Adamania Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS.
All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like, what the hell is that?
I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Wait, what sex?
Dating at 45.
How high can it be?
I'm getting naked at 50 with the new guy.
That one's kind of hard.
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter,
and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask,
how hard can it be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.

Welcome back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
this is Sunday morning coming down.
Another song Chris Christopherson wrote.
Another Chris Christopherson song?
Wow.
Yeah, he wrote.
He sang it too, but Johnny Cash made it kind of famous with this version.
What a talented dude, man.
Very sad song.
You know, it's about like he drinks all weekend.
And then on Sunday morning, he's like, here I am.
All these people are doing good stuff, and I'm sitting here with a hangover.
That's a good lesson for all of us.
Yes.
Did you have one after Saturday?
You had to celebrate a little bit.
No, I didn't.
I was very happy, but I had a hot date Saturday night.
I had to be awake for.
Okay.
Well, good.
Where was it?
Where was your hot date?
Local feed, downtown Georgetown, you know.
Was it free?
No.
Okay.
Oh, you paid.
Yeah.
I actually had to pay for a meal.
Wow.
That must have been a hot date.
That's the first time you've paid in like 14 years.
It is.
Yeah.
Since you've been on the radio.
Well, you know, it's got a celebrate.
a big win. You got to do it right.
All right. Well, good. This bar was apparently crazy, although I saw no video.
The bar was apparently packed and wild for the game, but I didn't get to see any video of, I
wanted, I was hoping somebody would send the celebration video. We didn't have anybody here because
everybody was spread out, but I wish I'd seen it.
Even the weather was not the greatest, but even the patio was full of people that came in to
watch the game to celebrate. You know, a lot of people didn't have electricity yet.
They were coming here just to watch the game.
I heard that when people walked in, Shannon, maybe because they hadn't.
had electricity.
They were kind of grumpy.
There was a lot of grumpiness.
And then as the game went on and we started winning, then they got more cheerful.
But maybe it was a little grumpykins at the beginning, and then things got a little better as
it went on.
Yeah, our staff said a lot of people came in and said, we don't have electricity and I want to watch
the game.
And I'm just going to sit here all day.
Sit here all day.
That's okay.
Watch football.
859-280-2287.
Two things.
It's a happy day, but two kind of sad things worth noting.
First of all, DeKimbe Mutumbo.
apparently just passed away this morning of brain cancer.
I didn't even know he was sick.
He got to love Dickinbe Motumbo, waving that finger.
And a great basketball player, Hall of Famer,
one of the best shot blockers of all time.
And he deserves all the accolades for basketball.
But if you ever research what he did for Africa,
in terms of he used his publicity and he used his fame
to try to help the people in Africa, first for a long time with AIDS-related stuff.
Then he really, I think he was the forefather of the NBA and Africa program,
which has brought tons of players over here to the United States to play,
but also giving people opportunities.
He seems like a guy who never lost sight of where he was from,
and very sad to hear, died at 58 today.
58 years old, they said it's brain cancer,
But you're right.
He was as a good of a player as he was.
He was a better humanitarian setting up that program to help African kids, you know, learn how to play basketball and bring him to the United States.
I think he set it up.
I think the NBA Africa thing, which has produced tons of players.
I think that was set up by DeKimbaimist.
I think it was.
I think he won, like, major awards for doing that over his career.
Second thing, we would be remiss if we didn't talk about the horrendous flooding in western North Carolina, East Tennessee.
Georgia, South Carolina.
I mean, those are our Appalachian brethren,
just a different state.
And the scenes from Asheville and I-40 and all these,
I mean, there are small towns that are apparently just gone,
just gone.
And it's so sad.
And, you know, we're two or three days.
It kind of reminds me of Katrina in the sense that we're two or three days later
and we kind of kill still can't get to places.
Yeah.
Because of how, you know, some of these places are so cut off.
that rescue workers, like they're having a helicopter, everything in.
I mean, the scenes from downtown Asheville.
Crazy.
Can you imagine being in downtown Asheville right now?
No cell service.
I saw like only the library has Wi-Fi.
So like the whole city is crowding around the library trying to have Wi-Fi.
Downtown, which you and I have been in many times, just it's hard to even look at.
The areas next to the Biltmore.
Yeah, right.
Have you seen those pictures next to the Biltmore?
Remember, we drove down there.
All those buildings were so his, like, created old style.
We talked about that all underwater.
It's just awful.
I mean, that part of the country, that part that will never be the same.
And then I-40, they're not going to be able to open that for like a year.
No.
Parts of it were washed away.
Parts of it are just gone.
I don't even know how you're going to get to those, some of those parts.
Like, I was trying to think, like, if you were watching,
wanting to drive to Durham or Raleigh where I went, you know, when I went to law school,
from Lexington now, I think you would have to go, like, through Middlesburg and, like,
go up to Bristol, Virginia, and drive that way. I don't know that there'd be another way to go.
It's awful. I heard on the news this morning, it may have been the mayor of Asheville or something,
like there's so many hundreds and hundreds of people still unaccounted for. And he said,
and we don't know, because we can't get there. We can't get to them. We can't get to those areas.
That's how they're still cut off.
I mean, FEMA, like, says there are parts of the, there are parts of the places where people are stranded that they, even they can't get to.
Can't get to.
I mean, if the federal government can't get there.
So they can't help these people because they can't get there.
It was like, we can't even get there.
Because, like, think about it.
If they're in the mountains and stuff, they can't land a helicopter there and they can't get there by road.
So they're having to, like, drop people down, like, from a helicopter to kind of hang and try to pick people in the middle of the mountain.
which is dangerous.
I mean, it's just...
I saw video they were dropping somebody down to rescue firefighters
who were stuck on their fire truck.
There were firefighters rescuing firefighters
try to get them out of there.
Just awful.
It is awful.
It's very sad.
It's just awful. So sad and prayers to all those people.
That's one of those.
You know, we were down there in Brethick County during some of that
and some of those places, but at least the roads were excessive.
I mean, they don't...
They have no way to even be gotten.
Since when your main artery is gone.
With no communication, just absolutely awful.
So prayers to all those.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.

Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
I love this song.
It's an awesome song.
Awesome song.
It was Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, what is it, Merle Haggard, and Chris Christopherson?
Whalen Jennings?
Whalen Jennings?
What did I say?
Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Whalen Jennings, and Chris Christofferson, the Highwayman.
You got what?
This, Shannon and the Traveling Wilburys?
Are those the best group of superstar singers coming together?
In country music, I would say so for sure.
What about in regular music?
When Traveling Wilburys had what?
Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Bob Dylan.
And Bob Dylan.
So that's a pretty amazing group.
It's pretty good.
So you take those two groups of sort of singers.
Can you think of another time groups of singers that popular got together?
Band-Aid.
What'd you say, sir?
Oh, Jeff Lynn, a BLO, yes, was in there too.
Yeah, Band-Aid, though, that was a one-time thing.
But to sing a...
Make you wish they would have made more albums together, these guys, together, you know?
It's hard to imagine people doing that now.
Yeah.
Like, you know, Morgan Wall and Tyler Chilters and all them.
Like, I don't see that happening.
But these dudes, you know, they come together and sing this song, pretty amazing.
Because they're friends, and they would talk, you know, you hear these stories,
how they would just sit around and just play.
together. There's no doubt, Shannon, they were on like a strong version of cornbread hemp.
Oh, yeah, yeah, exactly. This song is like really bizarre, you know, I was a high woman.
I was a sailor. That's why it was so good and creative. It was. And the video's kind of weird,
too. So, you know, that's the way it goes. What person writes, Matt, if your new,
if your new profile picture is not the picture of you eating your shirt at the old miss game,
it should be. That's a great picture.
That's you in a nutshell right there.
If you haven't seen it, it's like all Ole Miss fans, me.
My buddies are sitting down, except one of them whose shirt is so faded.
It looks like an Ole Miss shirt, and I'm sitting there eating my shirt, nervous, watching that final drive.
Made me think of Larry when I was a kid.
Yep.
Saying how silly I looked doing that, but you know what?
I couldn't help it.
I had my shirt in my mouth, and it was like I was a little kid being nervous watching the final drive.
Thanks to Trez, excuse me if I say your name wrong, Trez Terrell, Terrell, Terrell,
Tres Terrell, who took it and sent it to me from the field, so thank you.
That's eight-year-old Matt right there, chewing on it.
Usually you chewed on a string for your sweatshirt.
This is so upset.
You got the whole sweatshirt in your mouth.
String is normal when you're really nervous, the whole sweatshirt goes in the mouth.
And that's what happened.
So my favorite story I've ever heard of Larry is when he brought you off to school
when he started chewing on the string.
Larry said it was a bad habit to put my shirt in my mouth.
So when he would drop me off at middle school or high school,
he would put his shirt in his mouth.
And I try to show you.
Stop doing that?
And he was like, this is what you're doing.
It didn't work clearly, though, because I'm still doing it now at this time.
Who is this?
Look at this thing.
I don't know.
That's a big bus.
I wonder what's happening.
We have superstars coming in here.
All right.
Let me ask you a question, Chan.
And you're a Braves fan.
So the Braves and the Mets are playing today.
Double header.
Double header.
Now, I think this is a very unique, interesting situation.
Braves and the Mets are playing.
If they split, both teams make the playoffs.
Correct.
If one team wins them both, then the other team's out.
Yeah, and then the Diamondbacks would be in.
So the Diamondbacks need a split.
But here's the part that I wanted to bring up.
Right, whoever wins game one, I would say both teams are going to try in game one.
Sure.
But whoever wins game one, the playoffs start the next day.
Yeah.
So isn't there an incentive to rest your starter?
To just rest everybody?
Which is great, yeah.
Which is great for the team that loses game one.
So let me ask you, if you, let's say you're the Mets and you win game one,
would you try to, would you rather try to win game two or say,
We're just going to play, let our left-fielder pitch to rest everybody for the next day.
I'm resting my people.
The playoffs are what's mattered to me.
And if that starts the very next day, I want my fresh legs, I want fresh arms.
I'm sitting everybody.
If I know I win that first game, I'm sitting in that second game.
But the Mets and Braves are rivals, Shannon.
So wouldn't part of you want to knock them out of the playoffs?
Yes, but I think nobody's going to remember if you won or lost the last game of the season.
But if you saved up maybe your ace in that situation or maybe your number two guy and you went on to use that as momentum to win the series, people would remember that if you're a Mets fan for sure.
They haven't been there in a while.
It's kind of a wild situation.
I don't know that I've ever seen anything like it.
So I'm going to be fascinated after you see who wins game one.
See how they play game two?
Are they even going to try in game two?
And I'm not sure that they will.
And that's really bad for the Diamondbacks who are helpless in this situation.
Yeah, so the games are at 1 and 430 today.
So after they win game 1, what do they do in game 2?
I'll be very...
Because if they do sit everybody, there's going to be guys talk about, you know,
the integrity of the game and the tarnished integrity of the game.
To me, that's no different than a team who has already clenched
and they're rusting up their players.
Yeah, I don't know.
Which has happened the last couple days.
It happens in every sport.
Going to be fascinating.
859-280, 2287.
Who's up next?
Michael.
Michael.
you, Michael.
Hey, guys, how's going?
I'll give you an update on the haybell toss, but first I wanted to tell you, we were
at the brewery in Lebanon, good buddies watching the Wildcats win, and we have named it the
Ham Days Miracle Game.
That's what we call it at Good Buddies Brewing now.
Okay, well, I'll take it.
Ham Day's Miracle Game.
So Keegan McColley won the Haybill Toss.
That's actually Darrell's son that won the Haybell Toss.
Darrell's son.
Darrell's son won it.
Yes, sir.
New generation.
New generation of haybell toss.
That's good.
Well, I appreciate it.
Ham Day's miracle.
Hamday's miracle.
Billy won the haybal toss and Kentucky beat Ole Miss.
That is a miracle.
Yeah.
No kidding.
Now, Shannon, I appreciate the call.
You came in last.
I did.
And really, I think that's the story of the haybell toss is you coming in last.
Like, I don't know that I didn't see it coming.
Yeah.
And I think even more to the point, you weren't even close.
like you were six place by a lot and I that had to have brought some shame on you did it not not at all look my co-host is billy of course on the pre-show and he whines all the time about finishing last I had to show him look it's okay sometimes to be last it's nothing wrong with that you don't cry in your milk about it you just take it like a man you realize this wasn't my day I'll get you next year so I just had to show an example for billy we wanted him to you he's last and everything else we got to let him win
one. It's one thing for him to win. It's another thing for how bad you were. Like, people need to
understand Billy and Ryan were very close for first and second. Billy was a little ahead.
Then there's a little gap and then me, Mario, and Drew are kind of in a group. I came in third,
but they easily could have. But Shannon was a definitive sixth, right? I mean, it was definitive.
It was not close. We all have our weaknesses in life. Tossing hay is mine. It's okay. I'm good
at other things, though. I had kind of picked Shannon to even be the winner.
of this contest because, you know, he's the guy that works out.
He's a wrestler.
He's in the ring.
He's physically fit.
I was physically exhausted from louder than life.
That's what was.
How was larger than life, by the way?
It was wetter than life.
There was mud everywhere.
Friday didn't happen, by the way.
They canceled that.
They canceled Friday, I heard.
And then did the bands that played Friday just not get to play at all?
Yeah, there was one band that, like, filled in.
And other than that, though, all the other bands on Friday didn't get to play, which was
unfortunate.
Yeah, that's unfortunate.
But the rest of it happened.
It was really muddy, but we made the best.
of it. It was good. Good. I was sorry that that ended up being the way it was, but it did make it
to wear very, very wet. I'm sure it was a mud pit out there. Did you see Shannon's video, he's got a guy
trying to do some sledding on a mattress in the camping area. He had a slipping slide out there.
They were having the most fun out of everybody. Who's up next? Gabe. Gabe, go ahead, Gabe.
Oh, man, like, if I've got a couple of things, that Georgia Alabama game was absolutely insane the other night.
How do you think Brad White and his guys felt after watching how many points Georgia put up on Alabama?
I don't think they, you can't look at it like that.
I mean, that's like saying, how do you think Georgia felt?
I mean, look, Alabama put up 41 on Georgia.
But Georgia, I think, put up 34 on Alabama, didn't they?
Well, they did.
I'm just saying.
Exactly.
So how do you think, I mean, how do you think Alabama feels if they had 34 and we had
and we only gave them up 12?
I mean, some of that is just the nature of different football games.
You know, there's a lot.
You could look at it and say, well, should Brad White feel bad because Georgia put up, you know,
gave up so many other points or whatever.
But I would actually say Brad White should feel good because they ended up doing better.
I felt like he, I felt like he should feel pretty good.
Oh, I see.
I'm sorry.
I misunderstood.
You're saying the opposite that he should feel good about it.
I agree.
I actually would agree with that.
The fact that they helped.
Go ahead.
No, go ahead.
I'm sorry.
I'm misunderstood.
But go ahead, sir.
No, I'm just saying the fact that our guys held him so well,
I think we should be feeling really proud.
But if that Georgia game, you know,
helped us start turning our own season around,
and Ohio made us feel, you know, a little bit better.
I feel like Ole Miss has now got us fans fully back on track
and back on board for the rest of the season.
And honestly, I feel like we should send their kicker a Christmas card, you know.
Yeah, that was a bad kick.
I mean, he missed that kick.
kick poorly. I appreciate the call. I do want to mention on Alabama, Georgia. How about that wide
receiver? 17 years old, and he makes a catch that's one of the craziest catches I've ever seen
in my life. I mean, that was so impressive. And the kid is at 17, and he doesn't turn 18 until
February. Yeah, he should be a senior in high school right now, and he makes what's going to end up
being maybe the biggest playing college football this whole season. That's pretty amazing.
Unbelievable. And the movie made, and then he outran everybody, 17 years old.
Yeah, and once again, like, Georgia is good at everything, but just can't beat Alabama?
Alabama, you just can't beat them.
Georgia, I mean, Alabama, Kirby's now one and seven against Alabama.
I mean, he hasn't lost seven games against all the other teams combined, and he's one and seven against Alabama.
What a great day for SEC football.
Kentucky beats Ole Miss at Ole Miss, and then that game that night, one of the best finishes I've ever seen.
It was incredible.
That was a really, really great game.
Did you see Donald Trump throwing chicken fingers at people, Shannon, in the crowd?
What?
No, I didn't see why.
Yeah.
He went.
He was at the game and ended up.
That, by the way, everybody has their home game.
That's a home game for Donald Trump.
Yeah.
An Alabama football game I saw.
He got a huge round of applause.
Oh, okay, I see it.
Now, he's throwing in boxes.
I thought he's throwing individual fingers.
No, he wasn't throwing individual fingers at people.
That would be weird.
Did you see Cal got game day next week, by the way?
They did.
Cal.
Cal Berkeley.
Who are they playing?
Miami.
But it's literally, if you look at the schedule, it is probably the best game.
This may be the worst slate of games I've ever seen coming up.
But now Cal Berkeley gets game day.
There are now only five.
They had never had it.
Okay.
So there's now only five power schools left that have never gotten game day.
Now, we've talked about this before.
Do you know what they are?
I can't remember.
Anybody know?
Take a guess.
Purdue?
Purdue is happy.
They had it.
Oh, they had it.
Produce one of five that has had it.
They, I think, got it recently, maybe a year or two ago.
Vanderbilt?
Vanderbilt's had it.
Oh, really?
Vanderbilt had it that opened the season one year.
They played Auburn and they opened the season with it.
Oregon State?
No.
So the answers are Illinois, which is decent this year.
They could maybe get it.
Virginia, Rutgers, Maryland, and Syracuse.
Those are the five that have never had it.
Cal was on that list.
And Cal gets it now.
And now they get it.
I had said that I thought Cal would be the last one.
And now they won't be.
There's still five more.

It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledon.
and our podcast point game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah.
You figure it out real quick.

Like, you did a really good job there.
Well, I did stay at a Holiday Express.
I feel like you're more focused today.
Getting to win, get you back on track.
I like that.
Josh, a shout out to Josh, listening in Canton, North Carolina.
He is stranded there.
They just got cell service back.
There was a lot of damage.
They write and say the thing that made him the maddest is that he missed the UK game on Saturday.
But a big shout out.
And there are others who have written me in Western North Carolina.
Prayers to all of them.
And I hope everything gets back on track.
One person writes, Matt, I went to the Ole Miss game two years ago,
and we hired one of those companies to set up our tailgate.
they set up two 10 by 10 tents, 8 to 10 folding chairs, two tables, 1 40-inch TV, and food for 20 people.
Can you two guess how much it was?
$5,000.
Oh, gosh, not that much.
I would...
5,000.
I'll send it up for 5,000.
That's exactly what it costs this week.
The spots in the grove cost $5,000.
All right.
Well, you've ruined the game.
The answer was $2,000.
Shannon.
So it may have been 2002 years ago, but for homecoming Saturday.
Sometimes we wonder, how did Ryan fall for like Ponzi's kids?
And I think we see why.
$5,000.
$5,000.
I'll come over there right now.
This weekend.
They were $5,000.
Facts.
Facts from who?
Dante.
Did he buy one?
No, because they cost $5,000.
Oh, so he looked into it.
Oh, yeah, he looked at it.
into it. So it may have been 2002 years ago, but for homecoming, it was 5,000.
I'm throwing the challenge flag, Shannon, on the 5,000.
That's a lot of money. I set up my own gym tent.
Challenge. Yeah. Challenge. I'll say this. Somebody wants to pay me $5,000. I'll personally
set up their tent now. Well, I didn't know this. I will. I'm not just saying that.
You give me and Shannon $5,000. I'll split it with you. We'll set it up for the Vandy game.
You're right? The same company. I'll cook your food. The same company does do it here in Lexington.
I will.
I'll cook your food.
You don't want you cooking food.
I will.
All right, I'll go buy your food.
I'll bring it from Gainsville.
You give me and Shannon.
Shannon, you in?
Yeah.
$5,000 we set up their tailgate at the bandy game.
I'll show you how to start the grill.
Yes.
$5,000.
Come on.
But that same company does it here.
I don't think you should do an ad for them and tell them it's $5,000.
Nobody's going to do it.
Well, I don't know what it is for Kroger Field, but for last weekend it was $5,000.
I'm throwing the challenge flag.
It was $5,000.
Who's up next?
Storts.
Storts, how are you Storts?
Hey, Matt, I called in response to Drew a week you were away.
He was looking for predictions on the season.
And I said 11 and 1 or 10 and 2.
Him and Max laughed.
But we're at the by week, and I'm still alive for my 10 and 2.
You're still alive for 10 and 2.
I mean, you're shaky at 10 and 2 right now, but you are still alive.
Well, and I think I should be alive at 11 and 1 because I'm a pigman grab.
And there's no way anyone's ever going to convince me that a ball.
ball thrown laterally is going to bounce six feet up in the air. So we beat Georgia, too.
I got one more. I got a point for you, though.
Okay, real quick.
You were saying last week, officiating, you never complain when you lose?
No, no, you only complain when you lose, usually, yes.
Okay, well, here's an exception to the rule. Man, JJ Weaver got held more than a newborn
baby in the first try. There was a lot of hope that. I did think. I appreciate the call. I'm not
complaining because we won but there was a lot of hold.
I felt like Dion Walker got held
every single play
and it was just a matter of when are you going to call it
because he got held every play.
And let's go ahead and say about Dane.
They were pulling his jersey.
They finally got that one.
Finally called one.
KSR Parley hit.
Yeah.
How about that?
And I think a lot of you backed out on it
because this was the least bet one so far.
Was it?
And it's your fault because you gave up
right before it was two.
Plus seven.
50 was what it ended up.
All we had to do was get to win, and we won in pretty much three of the four games we won pretty easily.
I think the A&M Arkansas game was a little close, but we got them all.
Came down to Shannon, the dude picking Alabama over Georgia, and then when Georgia took the lead with two minutes to go, I thought, oh, no.
That's going to be a heartbreaking loss.
Yeah.
And then they came right back down in one.
So, look, vibes around the UK football team right now are immaculate.
Yes, I mean.
Let's do it.
You can even see this morning with the folks here.
More excitement.
You know, when we lost to South Carolina, I had a thought of, okay, we got like a month here.
We're trying to keep people's attention to basketball is going to be hard.
And then the Georgia game helped, but this is the one.
This is what this program needed.
I think this is how you keep the momentum on track for everything going forward.
And now the next phase is you get this week off.
Three games against teams you should beat.
Yes.
Now you have to go beat them.
You got to go do it now.
South Carolina was your only one you can blow.
Now you got to go beat them.
And we'll hopefully be able to do it.
Thank you all very much for listening.
We appreciate it.
Thanks to you guys for coming on out.
I will see you tomorrow.
