Starting point is 00:03:17 I am Matt Jones here live in Lexington, Kentucky on Thursday, October 3rd at the Cornbread Hemp Farm out just outside of Lexington. And it is a foggy day. Something I don't get to say a lot when we do these shows, but it is foggy, and we are here on what is otherwise a little chilly. You can give a shout on Clark's Pump and Shop phone line 859-280-2287. A Vision Auto Glass Text Machine is 772-744, and this edition is sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, you call T.J.L. Make-em Pay. I got Ryan and I got Shannon here in person. And we are out here just off the Athens exit right now. I guess this is still Ryan Lexington.
Starting point is 00:04:02 It is. Still Fayette County. Still Fayette County. Just not very far from the new soccer stadium. Right. We are here where cornbread hemp grows their hemp. The fastest growing hemp business in the country. The fastest growing business in the state of Kentucky period.
Starting point is 00:04:17 How about that? I know. I saw Jim Higden well ago and I said, man, congratulations on all your success. Every time I turn around, you're getting another honor, another award, another recognition. We're turning around. He's right behind you. I know. Hey, what's up?
Starting point is 00:04:26 By the way, by the way, we take all credit for it. We were like the first place you advertised, and you guys have had an amazing success. And this is the hemp field right here where they grow it. This is Shannon Scottie Bazler's Farm. I met Scotty this morning for the first time. I've told this story. I don't know, did I say it on the air about Scotty last time? I think I did.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Well, I'll say it again. You know, I had Scotty in school. He taught at Transylvania, and he taught campaigns. I took two classes from it. campaigns and elections. Okay. And then called Congress inaction. I in new word action, but it could also be one word, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:05:08 See, it was like a play. Congress inaction, Congress inaction. And I loved Scotty. He was the, like the, he was the nicest guy. And he taught me a lot of stuff. But I hadn't seen Scotty in like 20 years. And I guess in my mind, I thought he had passed away. And when we came here last time, I'm sitting in my car getting ready.
Starting point is 00:05:29 to start and he pounded on my window and I looked up and there he was and I thought I'd see him ghosts so you actually believe in ghosts I thought is the ghost of Scotty Basler here haunts these farms and then it was a great it was like so exciting Scotty is still with us yeah and it was it was great to see him he used to call me back when I had him his his nephew is No, his friend thought he was my uncle, but I love Scotty, and we're at Scotty's place today. Former Kentucky Wildcat? Yes, Mayor of Lexington. I mean, the dude is a legend.
Starting point is 00:06:10 I didn't realize he played under Rupp. Played under Rupp. Wow. Played under Rupp and all that. So we are here, Cornbread Hemp. They are promoting their new. We talked about the blueberry breeze gummies. It has, in every gummy, 10 milligrams of CBD, but also 10 milligrams of THC.
Starting point is 00:06:29 So there you go. It's a one-to-one ratio. That's right. And it'll help you relax, right. Everybody that I know that have tried this, that the one thing they all agree on, man, it makes you sleep great. It knocks you out and you go have a great sleep.
Starting point is 00:06:43 So they're called, and it's completely legal, by the way. That's right. It's part of the farm bill. Now, they're about to come through a little bit later with machetes, and they hand chop all this stuff. I think we were here when we did that last time. It's pretty interesting to watch. They come and they just,
Starting point is 00:06:56 and they chop it, and there you go. It was amazing to watch because it is a matter of seconds. Their crew is out there. All these plants. Were you here last time, Shamed? No, I wasn't. This is my first time. This will all when we're done be like.
Starting point is 00:07:10 And just the dirt field. They said that these plants were taking a beating last weekend because of the hurricane rain. Yeah. So normally they're standing straight up. They're kind of laid over. But they're all salvageable, which is good. The video of the video is still in North Carolina are just, just, I just, it's, you know, and I was listening to a guy that used to run. FEMA talk about how even for the government, it's not easy because you can't get to these places.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Correct. And because all the roads are cut off. And so you have to use helicopters. And, you know, they still don't really know what, you know, who's where and all that. It's just an awful situation. It's like what we saw in Eastern Kentucky, but then assume all the roads were cut off. Because remember, in East Kentucky, you could at least get there. Here, all the interstates are cut off in every direction.
Starting point is 00:07:58 You know, I saw something. They don't expect any interstate to be able to go from Tennessee to North Carolina until, like, the end of 2025. Now, I saw that. It's crazy. So, like, I 40 from, you know, I guess what, Pigeon, Fords, Gatlinburg, that area, Knoxville to Asheville. They don't expect to be open until the end of 2025. And then the one coming the other way, coming north to south, is closed mid-20205. So basically now we talked about this.
Starting point is 00:08:27 You're either going to have to go east up and over, like through Virginia, or south down through South Carolina and Georgia. I mean, that trying to get to North Carolina is going to be like from here. Like you can't do it. You know, that old saying, you can't get there from here. I'm not sure that you're going to be able to get there from there. It's really sad. Yeah, and I saw a report last night where a lot of the communities that have bridges over rivers and things,
Starting point is 00:08:54 those bridges are gone. So they're now cut off from getting to where they work and going to grocery stores. There's a lot of private helicopter services that are taking food in. They're using now military helicopters. It's just a terrible situation. But in other news, we are here, and I want to ask you folks a question, you two, a question. So I got one for you. Well, what's yours first?
Starting point is 00:09:16 I got one for you, too. Well, why did you pick that hoodie today? That was my question. I got a direct shot at our boy right here. That is the ugliest hoodie I've ever seen. Well, first of all, it's a Padre. recently. Completely random. It is. Completely random today.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Completely random. No, no. I, let me. Real story here. All right, so I was supposed to host ESPN tonight. And the rule was at 7 to 10. And they told us you're likely not to have to do the show. Because as long as one of these series goes to three games, we're preempted. Gotcha. So there were four games, and I just needed the team that lost game one to win game two.
Starting point is 00:09:52 first series, Tigers Astros, Tigers sweep. Yep. Second series, Royals. Royals. Royals sweep. So now I'm down to Braves Padres, Mets Brewers. Early in the game, the Mets take the lead on the Brewers. And it's like 3-1.
Starting point is 00:10:12 So then my whole thing is on the Braves. Because I'm like, if the Braves don't win, I'm going to have to do a show tomorrow. at that point I put my Braves hoodie on I have one I'm rooting for the Braves and then you blew it thankfully the Brewers came back
Starting point is 00:10:30 but I'm angry at you because I was almost to have to do a show then on the rotation of shoes Okay here we go My bright yellow Air Max 95 Tactis were there I'm like how do I How do I match yellow and yellow
Starting point is 00:10:45 And then this Padres hoodie I mean you probably have a Golden State Warriors a hoodie you could have put on. I don't. It's Padres. I'm sure you could have put on something else. And this is also the ugliest color of brown.
Starting point is 00:10:55 It is. Don't you agree? The Padres have, in my opinion, the ugliest colors. It's UPS. It is. It's like what does Brown do for me? So this combination, I felt like it was a once in a lifetime time. What Brown did for you?
Starting point is 00:11:07 It got you out of a show tonight. So your group of eight shoes just happened to include the San Diego Padre gold shoes. Aramax 95 taxis. But here's the thing. You had seven other options. That's true. But we're out on a farm, so we're out on a farm, so I can't wear white shoes, they'll get ruined. So that took, like, three of them out.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Then, you know, there's a matching thing. And there's just a lot of stuff going on, right? I think it's a direct shout at our boy. We're in a Padre stuff today. There's no doubt about it. So I have a question for you. Okay. You all, do you have to go to the pharmacy?
Starting point is 00:11:38 Do you ever have to pick up medicine at the pharmacy? Oh, yes, absolutely. I'm going to assume, like, CVS knows what they're doing. They've been doing this a long time. They have. But the CBS I go to is an absolute circus. It's the only one in Louisville that's open like 24 hours. So there are people there everywhere, right?
Starting point is 00:11:59 Yeah. And it's close to my house. And so every time I go, I know I'm going to be encountering chaos. Chaos. So I go there. I just want to set the scene. There's like a line of seven people to pick up the prescription. I stand there. Do you know anyone that hates lines more than me?
Starting point is 00:12:19 No. No, no. You're the one. You're the top of the list. I absolutely hate. But I stand there. I left my phone at home to get some non-screen time, which means I'm bored to death, standing there. Standing in line.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Get to where I'm supposed to be. I have to pick up like four things. Two of them are ready. They don't have two of them. Now, what would you think you would do? You think you would say, okay, can I get the other two? No, that's a different line. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:12:46 That's the drop-off line. So you get out of that line after you've been standing for 15 minutes. Now you get in the drop-off line. You say, can I get these two? Yes, it'll be 15 to 20 minutes. I've already been there now 30 minutes. Fine. I sit down to go wait.
Starting point is 00:13:04 They have a little waiting room area? That a little waiting room. Okay. There's a woman there, and you know how when you see someone, you go, and I know this has happened to you, please don't talk to me. You know what I mean? Like, I'd listen to her, talk to everybody. And this was the first thing she said while I was sitting there.
Starting point is 00:13:23 So I have bunions. That's her introductory comments. That was her introductory. So I have bunions. Now, Shannon, I don't even know what a bunion is. What is a bunion? Something on your foot. I think it's like a big callus or something maybe.
Starting point is 00:13:37 Do you know, Mario, what a bunion is? You know what a bunion. Well, no, Chandriot. It's some sort of like callous on your foot. It hurts when you kind of. introduce herself. She just said, so I have bunions. And then she paused.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Like you're supposed to respond? Now, what am I supposed to say to that? Yeah. I have a toenail in my wallet. And I went, and so I didn't know what to say to her. So I was like, well, that's unfortunate. That's a good response. That's unfortunate.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Showing a little compassion. I was hoping that'd be the end of the conversation. And she goes, do you know any treatments for bunions? Well, I didn't even know what it was, so I certainly don't know any treatments. And I was like, well, no, ma'am, I'm sorry I don't. She goes, see, that's the problem. No one can fix my bunions. And at this point, I'm just praying for the intervent.
Starting point is 00:14:30 I was about to get like a flu shot just so that I would not have to talk to her anymore. Go check your blood pressure. Yeah, I'm like, oh, let's go use that machine. Then all of a sudden they call Jones. Okay. So go get in line. I'm back at the back of a five-person line again. Another line.
Starting point is 00:14:46 I get to where there's only one person in front of me, and then this woman, who's been at consultation, which is a different line, just comes and slides in front of me and stands in front of me. Now, my mother would say, just let it go. Right? Yeah. But I have now been waiting for like 30 or 40 minutes. I've had to listen to this woman, talk about her bunions on her feet. I'm like, I can't say nothing, Shannon. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:15 So you got to say that way. You got to stand up for yourself. Exactly. What wasn't Aaron Tipping said? You got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything. Or I have to listen to this woman talk about her bunions again. That's right. So I look at the woman, I go, excuse me, ma'am.
Starting point is 00:15:30 I don't mean to be rude, but you can't cut. I was like, there's a line. And she goes, I was already in that. line and I said well I know but I think here at CBS there are different lines for different things and she just starts crying oh no no you're the bad guy you crushed her she just starts crying oh and she's like I've been here for 45 minutes and like well now Shannon now you got let her go go ahead now she's making her go I'm the guy yeah and then Bunyan lady
Starting point is 00:16:10 like comes over and goes she's just you and now I'm I've got bunyan lady and this woman crying what a mess and it's a mess and all I want is my prescription can not just melt to your house
Starting point is 00:16:27 and she looks at me and says I said listen it's fine it's fine go ahead yeah and then she goes no and she ends up sitting down and now it's my turn and she's sitting down and she's crying with bunyan lady she's out of lawn though and so i ryan i could not get out of there quick enough i mean i i i felt like at that moment you're not the bad guy i didn't do anything
Starting point is 00:16:53 but people were thinking you're the bad guy you made the poor lady yeah yes look at this bully making the poor lady cry and bunyan ladies the hero but he's over after talking everyone about her bunions so i got out of there and i felt i don't know if i felt bad but i just there has to be a a better way to handle these than have to go deal with that. Can you bring Mario to document it next time so we can see all of this? That's what I want to see. So after all of that, I'm glad to be here with you. Tough, tough situation to be in. 859-280-2287. The text machine is 772-7754. We are here in Lexington at the cornbread hemp field. We'll take a break. Be right back. This KSR. Last night, a blown call changed the game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are
Starting point is 00:17:38 trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answer. Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them.
Starting point is 00:18:15 Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slic Life 12 and the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. What's up guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker.
Starting point is 00:18:36 Hey, you know these kids. This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, rep, my mama wants you to wave at her. What?
Starting point is 00:18:53 Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Cliverts show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Jordanano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, Help on the internet. Help! Somebody! Please!
Starting point is 00:19:11 But there's so much more to me than me. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope I'm a Hypocrite. I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike! I'm a comedian! I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man.
Starting point is 00:19:39 If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Oh, cream a chicken suit. Hey, cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from a Hypocrite as part of the Mike Cultura podcast network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior,
Starting point is 00:20:10 and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection. This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown and explore the journey of healing, self-discovery, and returning to yourself. We explore higher consciousness, emotional well-being, and the practices that help you find clarity, peace and self-mastery in a world that can feel overwhelming. The world is becoming lonelier. We're not becoming more social and connected. We're becoming more individualized, but we actually meet people in connection.
Starting point is 00:20:45 If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you to hear more. Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you give you. It's your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, point game is about defining the odds.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series.
Starting point is 00:21:31 because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing.
Starting point is 00:21:49 That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the balls. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:22:08 Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here in Lexington. Out close to... You know, now there's more and more stuff out here. Yeah. Like now there's... What all is out here? You got a new hotel.
Starting point is 00:22:20 The new Lex Hotel. We did a pop-up show this summer when you were gone. Yeah, you got that new soccer stadium. The brand-new soccer stadium with all those youth soccer fields behind it. It used to be the only thing here was there was a gas station. And a strip club. Yes. That was all that was out of here.
Starting point is 00:22:35 What else are you need? They opened the McDonald's. Now there's a McDonald's. On the other side, there's a Wendy's. Yeah, exactly. They are right now cutting this hemp. And it is, you know, when you see people doing jobs like this, which are hard, which require like physical labor, you sit and realize how worthless, Shannon, what it is we do.
Starting point is 00:22:56 Oh, absolutely. We have no actual skill. Don't give me a machete. I would probably chop my leg off on accident trying to get these hip plans. These dudes are just rocking through it. Yeah. And we're here. All right.
Starting point is 00:23:09 So I have a question for you. Before we get the phones, 859, 280287, text machine, 772-7474-5254. This is a by week. Yeah. This is the last weekend without a UK sporting event. Well, I guess volleyball may play. But it's the last weekend without a UK basketball or football game until hopefully April. certainly Mark.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Yes. Right? So this is kind of the last weekend where in theory, you could do something fun. Right. So I want you to help me figure out, A, what am I going to do in the state of Kentucky? And B, for all of the Kentucky fans listening, what is something they can do on their last weekend? Obviously, you could in theory see your children or you could in theory like hang out with your spouse. but let's say you know you've either had enough of that or you're going to bring them we talked about there's a sorghum festival in springfield i think i'm going to go to that are you really you used to always go right tomorrow morning for the breakfast you're going to go to
Starting point is 00:24:12 it's like 730 in the morning we have to be at shady rays you're going to go to that and then come here i'm sorry Saturday you're going to get up and go to a breakfast at 730 in the morning I used to do it as a kid and i want to run it back a little nostalgia huh so yeah i think i'm going to do that Saturday wow all right so there's a that if you go to the breakfast you'll know shannon so what else in the state you've got uh i know know you got to buy water farms if people had families with kids but are there other festivals are there other events that you know of i'd like to you to sort of give people options it's court days this weekend i don't think so okay i thought maybe it was this weekend there's some kind of bourbon thing in frankfort where you like go and they just give you bourbon um that sounds far you said my bourbon kentucky is so beautiful this time of year. I mean, it really is.
Starting point is 00:25:00 But do you know, are there festivals? Mario, see if you can find festivals. Because I just feel like also the schedule in college football is awful this weekend. This is the worst weekend of college football I've seen. I mean, probably the two best games. If you look at the schedule are Missouri, Texas A&M, which, who cares, are Miami Cal, which is where game day is. I mean, Mario would say Navy Air Force is a big one.
Starting point is 00:25:28 Saturday at noon. I think Tennessee plays Arkansas, but it's just an absolutely horrible selection of game, so it really is a good chance to, like, acknowledge your family's existence. Maybe if you don't have a family, you're still in town, you can go maybe if Georgetown college is at home. But are they? I mean, you can, maybe, but are they playing? Actually, no, I have Georgetown football players in my class.
Starting point is 00:25:52 They're on a by week. They're on a by week. Because I said to them, if you all are playing Saturday, I'll come watch, and they're on a by week. I think EKU's on the road even. Let's say we got October Fest going on in Louisville on the 5th. What is that? Well, it's October Fest.
Starting point is 00:26:05 You go listen to music, drink beer. Is that Saturday? Yeah, that's on the 5th. Where is it? In Louisville on East Washington Street. Where's East Washington Street? Down by like Slugger Field, I think. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:17 And that's like, so that's a whole thing. So that's a good option. All right? What else? You got another thing in Louisville. Louisville versus Dayton Comedy Battle. I don't even know what that is. Hang on just a second.
Starting point is 00:26:26 Louisville. Louisville. versus Dayton comedy. Maybe Dayton has like a comedy team they bring in and they go against Louisville. Why would that does not sound like why would Dayton have a team? I don't know. Louisville's got a team. You got to play somebody.
Starting point is 00:26:40 So that's going to be good. Where is the Louisville versus Dayton comedy battle? Monique Beer Company. How do you keep scoring a comedy battle? Whether you're not, you laugh. You judge. How do you keep scoring anything? All right.
Starting point is 00:26:52 So Louisville versus Dayton comedy battle. That's interesting. We got the Kentucky Mushroom Festival. Okay. I heard about that. Where's that? Barron River Magic. That is in sulfur. Sulfur, Kentucky. Yeah, that's Henry County, right? I think so. So the mushroom festival. What do they do at the mushroom festival? Probably eat mushrooms.
Starting point is 00:27:11 Yeah, I think that's a different kind of festival. It could be. That's a different kind of trip. Okay. Oh, look at you. You got bourbon and the bluegrass. That's in Frankfurt. That's what I was saying. Okay. And you've also got the hidden history walking tour in Oldham County. What does that mean? It's a walking tour.
Starting point is 00:27:25 Of Oldham County? history. You can't see it. It's hidden. Okay. You've got to go walk down. Well, if you have suggestions, sure, 772, 774-5-254, because I'm looking, I don't think I'm going to get up with Shannon and go to breakfast. So is there something
Starting point is 00:27:39 that I can do? Because after this, it's all games. Now, the biggest controversy right now in Big Blue Nation is the new wildcat mascot. Yes. All right. So somebody, I think, somebody at KSR, discovered that we now have
Starting point is 00:27:55 a new mascot. It's a different, it's the same wildcat, but it's a different wildcat than last year. And if you look at the difference, the main difference is the wildcat looks to be either asleep or high. The new wildcat looks like he ate an entire jar. Yes, he does. His eyes are basically almost closed. And he looks like he's either squinting in the sun or something like that. Now, this is something, we're three weeks into the season.
Starting point is 00:28:27 I don't think anybody had noticed. Now they've noticed. What do you think of the new mask? Because now you're not going to be able to not see it. Like you probably went the first few weeks and didn't notice. And now that it's been mentioned, Ryan, people can look on KSR. The post is up. Everyone's going to notice.
Starting point is 00:28:44 I had no idea. I've seen that mascot, and I had no idea that's a new mascot. And how did it take us, you know, five weeks into the season for somebody to even notice that we had it? That's what I just said. I mean, the eyes were wide open before. They had, like, bright eyes. Like, they were looking into whatever. What do you think about the new one?
Starting point is 00:29:03 My understanding is they're trying to make the new eyes look more like an actual cat's eyes. But I think the- Oh, is that correct? I guess they're smaller, you know, like an actual- Where did you hear that? I think I read that maybe on Kentucky'sportradio.com. Oh, okay, good website. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Or I made that up just now. But I think that's the idea is to try to make it look more realistic. Well, I guess that is true. And less cartoons. Cats eyes are more closed. Yeah. But I don't think the goal of a mascot is to be like to scale. The one with the wide eyes looked like it had a bunch of caffeine.
Starting point is 00:29:36 It's wide-eyed and just staring at you. It's kind of creepy. So which do you prefer? Wide-eyed cat. Cornbread hemp cat. I'm going cornbread hemp. Maybe it's one of the Harrison twins that are into the new mascot. They were always squinting when they were playing.
Starting point is 00:29:49 That's because they didn't have, remember they needed because they needed contacts. Maybe this new mascot did contact. I forgot about that. When the Harrison twins shot so poorly. That's a great call. And we found out that they needed contacts. There you go. Man, that is a good memory of the past.
Starting point is 00:30:03 Well, I'm just impressed. It'd be interesting to me the thought process of why they changed it. They were like, this cat's eyes are way too open. We need to make the eyes much more closed or we're not going to be able to do it. We'll take a break. 899-2-8027. Take your calls. This is KS.
Starting point is 00:30:22 out at Cornbread Hill. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio. People are getting on me, Shannon, for not using a local pharmacy. Are there still local pharmacies in Louisville? I'm sure there's a handful, but not many. I mean, if there is, I'm glad to know, but I don't know of one. Lexington, I guess, is Wheeler still there? Wheeler's, and there's one on Southland Drive.
Starting point is 00:30:51 But there's, I mean, there aren't that many left. I would tend to lean that way. We don't even have them in small towns. Not in a lot of places. That one person writes, Matt, a bunion is not a callus. Ryan is wrong. A bunion needs surgical intervention. It involves a bone.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Oh, well, we were just trying to give you, got an idea what it was. I thought callous was a good. But callus is not a bone. No. I didn't know a bunion was tied into the bone. Yeah. News. All right.
Starting point is 00:31:15 So apparently there's actually a lot of stuff going on this weekend. All right. So I'll give you a few of them. See if any of these tickle your fancy. Okay. Paintsful Apple Festival. Oh, that's a big one. I've never been, but I've heard that's a big one.
Starting point is 00:31:28 That is a big one. Yeah. I think there's a lot of Apple festivals. Yeah, but that's the big one. That's the one. That's the one the other apples wish they were a part of. St. James Art Festival in Louisville. That's a great.
Starting point is 00:31:38 I've been there before. It's out in old Louisville. There's art, people everywhere. Like at a park or something? That's one I might end up going to. You've been to that before, right? I've been to that before. It's really nice.
Starting point is 00:31:49 The Mary Breckenridge Festival in Hyden. Never even heard of that, but why not? I wonder why there's a Mary Breckenridge Festival in Houghton, but there's a Breckenridge County in the other part of the state. You can't answer that for you. All right. Well, thank you. The Henderson Arts and Crafts Festival.
Starting point is 00:32:09 Wow. Never been to that one either. These are all this weekend. Yeah. I'm sure they may be on your list, but Keenlin opens this weekend. Keenland opens this weekend. It's going to be a zoo. It will be.
Starting point is 00:32:18 It'll be a zoo. The Bitter-sweet festival in Mount Vernon. What's there? Arts and crafts. Something bitter sweet. It'll both be good, but then leave you sad at the end. It's not good. I don't want to be sad when I leave.
Starting point is 00:32:35 I want to be happy. 859-280-2287. Who's up first? This is your Kentucky Tourism Bureau update. Who's up first? Bruce is up first. Bruce. Go ahead, Bruce.
Starting point is 00:32:48 Hey, how's it going, guys? Doing good. Also, there's the wool festival in Falmouth. I know that sounds exciting, right? What's the wool festival? I don't know. We were just, my wife and I were looking up things to do this weekend and festivals around, and we saw there's the wool festival.
Starting point is 00:33:04 Wool festival, right? They're shearing sheep or something. Yeah, I mean, they have to do that. I assume they're going to be bald sheep everywhere after it's over. Get a sweater or something. Yeah, okay. Anyway, my question is, I saw where there's a like a red dirt country, Oklahoma band is doing a concert for Oklahoma State NIL in the spring that will probably sell out their
Starting point is 00:33:28 football stadium. And I just thought that seemed like a good idea. Yeah, well, we did, you remember, Kentucky did a John Legend show that was for UK football this summer. I was gone. Did you go? No, we didn't. Drew went, I know. But there was a John Legend concert. I think Morgan Wallen, when he did his shows in Knoxville, did something. Did he? Some of which ended up for Tennessee. So you're right.
Starting point is 00:33:53 I mean, if we have a famous musical artist with some sort of connection to Kentucky, it makes sense to do something like that. Yeah, I just, first of all, Oklahoma State just seems like, you know, they've already got the richest booster in all of college football. I can't believe they're doing that. But, you know, still, you know, it seems like an easy way to make a couple million dollars. It is. Just the question is you've got to find a musical artist.
Starting point is 00:34:19 I appreciate the call who's willing to. do it, Shannon, and is willing to do it for free and donate all the money. I'm trying to think, who are the biggest Kentucky fan musical artist? Well, you know, Ashley Judd is a huge Kentucky fan. She's not a musical artist. Well, Winona is, though. Yeah, but I don't know if she's a Kentucky fan. I don't know if she cares.
Starting point is 00:34:35 I mean, I guess what? You're talking Eddie and John Michael Montgomery? Well, Chris Stapleton. But is he a Kentucky fan? I know he's from Kentucky. Kevin Richardson. Maybe he could do it. Kevin Richardson.
Starting point is 00:34:48 Maybe he could do a backstreet. Boys concert for UK sports. For sure. Tyler Booth? Because, like, we have a lot of people from Kentucky, but, like, I don't know if Tyler Childers, I don't think he really likes sports. Never heard Sturgle Simpson say anything about sports. It seems like I've heard Stapleton, though, that he's a Kentucky guy, the UK guy, I mean.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Well, he would be, I mean, if you could get, you probably can't, but if you could get him to do a concert. Yeah. Well, didn't he just play at Kroger Field? He did, but I don't think that went to N. I think that went to Chris Stapleton Incorporated. Who's next? There's Scotty Bazzer.
Starting point is 00:35:26 How you doing, Scotty? Go ahead. Rob is up next. Rob, go ahead, Rob. Well, this first time called. Who are? I was going to recommend that Keelon, but you just said that. I think that's a great thing to go to.
Starting point is 00:35:45 I think you should do a show out there. I don't know why. We've done it before. We've done Keenland a number of times. They did. I don't think they, I think we, they have enough people, and I think when we're there, we just cause, we just cause it to be more, like, more hectic wherever we are. So I think that's probably why they don't do it now. Oh, I don't want.
Starting point is 00:36:09 That's unfortunate. It's a great place. It is a great place. All right. I appreciate it, sir. Oh, wait a minute. You got one more? Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:36:18 I was just going to say, I knew your parents in college. We went to the UK together in the 70s. So I watch your career, and I think you're great. Well, thank you very much. I appreciate it. That's very kind of you. Thank you, sir. 859.
Starting point is 00:36:36 How do people know my parents? That's nice. 859-28022-87. A couple pieces of football news. We need to talk about this isn't the most joy. boyest thing in the world. But, you know, I said, and I believe this is the case, that it's very unlikely Chip Trey and him plays this year. Yeah, you said that last week. And that's been, you know, that's kind of where things are. Are you wondering about the same thing with Maxwell
Starting point is 00:37:06 Harrison? Yeah, to be honest, because, you know, he tried to go and he just couldn't do it. We had, earlier in the week, we heard he was going to play, and by the end of the week, they pulled him. So there's, there's, it wouldn't have pulled him for that game if there wasn't something serious. And Mark Stoop said yesterday, they asked him about it, and he said something like, uh, he's out and we'll update his future status sometime in the near future. Oh, that's not a good quote. And that's not the kind of answer that makes you think he's going to come back and, in, and play. Now, I mean, I'm not saying I know he's not, but, uh, I, I'm, I kind of am going to start probably in my, mind, Shannon, thinking that I don't think he's going to play either. Yeah, originally we were hearing by, like, what, game three he would probably be ready.
Starting point is 00:37:52 Well, that's, you're talking about Chip, Chip Trayton. Maxwell Harrison, since he's been out, he's been out. Yeah. And I think, you know, I don't know all the details, but I think the thing it is, is not, well, I don't want to get into it. But I just kind of don't, I don't know, Ryan, if I think he's going to play. I hope he does, but I just don't know if he will. I think it was definitely reason for concern when they pulled him like day before the game. Like he was going to try to go, try to go.
Starting point is 00:38:20 He couldn't go. And, you know, he wants to play. If you just listen, though, to Mark Stoops' answer, it's not the kind of answer of a person that necessarily thinks he's going to play. You know what I mean? Because he basically said, we'll have an update on that in the future. It wasn't like we'll see how he feels at the end of a week or anything like that. I would think, you know, since this is the by week, if neither one of those guys are playing in two weeks for Vasey, Randy, we've got to be concerned.
Starting point is 00:38:45 Yeah. Well, I would just expect Chip Traynham not to play. Yeah. I mean, if he plays, I will be very, I will be surprised. Again, hope I'm wrong, but I'll be surprised if he plays. Now, now, now, here's that I don't know for sure, but I, you know, sometimes you just kind of get the feeling that it doesn't feel, it doesn't feel good. Defense has been holding up, though, well.
Starting point is 00:39:05 I mean, that's one thing. You do have depth defensively. Well, and the secondary, I thought played great against Ole Miss all things, When you consider what their passing attack is and all that, I thought they played great. Yeah, JQ Hardaway had a great game. He was really good. And we talked about that freshman. Where's he from?
Starting point is 00:39:22 Hardaway? Yeah. Not sure. Because I think he's been sort of a little bit of a revelation. You know what I mean? We have to look it up. I'm not sure where he's from. The more concerning thing for me is how thin we are at running back.
Starting point is 00:39:33 You have one injury now. You're in trouble. Well, we get Patterson back, right? Or did we get? Was he that he might have played last game? He was in uniform. I can't remember if he actually played or not. So you have three, but we'll see.
Starting point is 00:39:47 So far, those guys have held up pretty well. Hopefully the byweek gets them in better place. If you get a touchdown, get six points, matters more at Draft King Sports. It does. Tell me about it. Did you hear Tom Brady said Tuddy during the game? I didn't hear that, but I'm not surprised.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Kind of a bro thing to do. I'm so over Tuddy. Tuddy. You hate it. I know. I hate Tuddy. He didn't even say it on the Draft King. spots. He doesn't even say it. No. You won't say it?
Starting point is 00:40:14 No. So what do you say when it says TDs, because you read the scripts? I don't. Well, I didn't on that one. You just skipped the word? I just skipped it over. All right. Draft King's Sportsbook partner in the NFL. When they score a touchdown, you win at Draft Kings if you bet it. So tonight, Falcons play the Bucks. Who would you pick for a tutty?
Starting point is 00:40:35 Warren and Sapp. It's going to be hard for him to get one. He might come back and get one. I'm going to go Mike Evans. Is he still on the team? I don't know if you're not. I'm going to go Mike Evans, scored the touchdown tonight. If you're ready to place your first bet, try betting on something simple like a touchdown. Go to Draft Kings. Download the app.

And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike! IHeart Podcast presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. This is my best friend Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school.
Starting point is 00:44:50 Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later. We're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drink. Sidebar.
Starting point is 00:45:05 Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Well, then you got it. Do you want a white collar or something here? Just take it. What are y'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh, I would.
Starting point is 00:45:15 Come on. Could you believe? I would buy it. Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky. I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic.
Starting point is 00:45:28 You're lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Matt Jones, Ryan Lemon, Shan, the dude sitting here talking to Scotty Basler.
Starting point is 00:45:53 Played for UK, 1959 to 1963. Was the mayor of Lexington during the, what, late 80s, early 90s? Is that right? Mostly the 80s. Then he went to Congress, and he was just telling us that in Congress, they had it every day they'd play basketball at 430, the Republicans and Democrats, and he would play, I would love to see a congressional basketball game. I think that would be funny to watch.
Starting point is 00:46:21 You ask him if you split it up Republicans versus Democrats? That would have been fun to watch. Well, first of all, I bet Scotty kind of dominated. I'm not sure how many of them played basketball at Kentucky, Shannon, when they were in Congress. He said Steve Largent was good, former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver. I feel like that makes some sense. No doubt. Scott, Scotty was the ringer of the bunch.
Starting point is 00:46:41 Yes. He's lived an interesting life. It lived very interesting. When I was at Trancy, he took us to Washington, D.C., me, think about who was on this trip. Me, tall, the turkey hunter. There were a bunch of other of our friends, and then we all went up there. He toured us around Congress. What I liked about Scotty, he was an old-school blue-dog Democrat, wasn't that what it was called?
Starting point is 00:47:04 And so it was like a kind of Democrat, I feel like that I am. And he would, but when we went up there, we met with Democrats, we met with Republicans, because everybody likes Scotty. And I remember he wasn't in Congress anymore, but he took us to the congressional cafeteria. Oh. We got to eat, and that seemed like we got to eat, was it, bean soup? Isn't that the thing they have there that was so good? We got to eat bean soup, and we stayed in a hotel there. And in college, that was a really, really cool trip for us.
Starting point is 00:47:34 Heck of a trip to take when you were a college guys. He took us. and in the course of us being there, and again, people who are younger may not know who these people are. We may know who one of them is. But this was what was great about Scotty. He knew people on all ends of the aisle. We went and talked to Barney Frank, who was probably one of the most liberal members of Congress, and we went and talked to Hal Rogers, who is probably one of the most conservative.
Starting point is 00:47:55 And he took us to both of them. They both were very nice to us, and it was a lot of fun. He took us on the floor at one point. I think we were on the floor of the House or Senate. I can't remember. People were giving speeches. They were boring, but we were there. So it was great.
Starting point is 00:48:10 He's one of these guys we could sit and talk to for hours. He told us, I said, where did you play high school ball? He said, I played at Aethon, the old Aethons High School, closed it down his junior year and had to go to Bryan Station for his senior year. Aethon's High School. I don't think about what? I didn't even know. I didn't think about there being a high school over there.
Starting point is 00:48:25 And then after we finished, he was running. I'm trying to remember who were you running again? You ran for Senate. Right. Senate against Bunning. and we went, me and Turkey Hunter and Tall, my friend DJ, we went to one of his fundraisers out here, I think, at your house. And he brought, was it Joseph Kennedy? Is that who came out here?
Starting point is 00:48:49 I think it was Joseph Kennedy. And there was a great moment where Joseph Kennedy was talking to my high, Joseph Kennedy was a representative. He was talking to my friend DJ from high school. Yeah. And I look, and they're just talking, like Middlesborough High School's DJ and Joseph Kennedy. and Joseph Kennedy from Massachusetts for like 10 minutes just talking. And I was sitting there thinking, what could they be talking about that long? But it was just a cool memory.
Starting point is 00:49:14 So when you came ahead to that, would you guys actively involved in the election? Yeah, we were out of class by then, but we were pulling for him and wanting him to win. And so he was always very nice to us. So it's great to see you, Scotty. 859-280-2287. Who's up next? Lucas is up next. Good to see you, man.
Starting point is 00:49:33 Lucas, go ahead. Hey guys, if our secondary can maintain like they did against Tom Miss, do we have the best defense in the SEC? Well, I don't know about best, but I mean, we have a top, what? Certainly top half, maybe top five, right? If they all were to, the secondary was to keep playing like this? I think you can make an argument right now. You hold Georgia to 13 points.
Starting point is 00:50:00 You held Mississippi State to 40 points under their average. I held them to only 300 yards when they were averaging 600 yards a game. I think at this moment, you could make an argument that they're definitely one of the best. I mean, you've got to also look at who Ole Miss played, just to play devil's advocate for just... But, I mean, they have only, what I thought was an amazing stat about the Georgia game is Georgia has only scored 20 points or fewer three times in the SEC in the last five years, and they've all been against Kentucky. Yep, yep. I mean, that's a pretty amazing statistic, Ryan, three times in the last five years all against Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:50:34 You know, we talked all summer. We knew this could be one of Stoop's best defenses. And they're proven us right. Now, again, we don't know what the heck happened in that South Carolina game. But if you take just the Georgia game and the Ole Miss game, they did something I think that most of the SEC didn't think could be done. Stop Georgia and stop Ole Miss. That's right.
Starting point is 00:50:50 Who's up next? Got Jeff up next. Jeff, go ahead, Jeff. Thank you for taking my call. I was calling about the festivals this weekend, and I know a caller earlier mentioned the Kentucky Wool Festival, but he didn't seem no much about it. Falmouth, home of Dante Allen.
Starting point is 00:51:08 Oh, it's in Pendleton County. All right, tell me what happens at the Wool Festival. Well, you have over 200 craft vendors set up. You have over 30 food vendors. You have a kid's area that has sand art and pony rides. And then they do have sheep shearing, but then they have a pen set up and folks can watch the dogs herd the sheep. And they have two states.
Starting point is 00:51:32 Wait a minute, wait a minute. Hang on just a second. You can, when you say watch the dogs herd the sheep, so you can watch dogs like take sheep from one place to another? Absolutely. Yes, sir. That's kind of interesting. It's amazing. And so when is the sheep shearing?
Starting point is 00:51:48 Because I've seen that, and it's kind of a, have you ever seen a sheep be sheared? Yeah. It's kind of a bizarre thing to watch. When is that? Well, they have it different times during the day. It's a three-day festival. It's Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. and they do it periodically through the day
Starting point is 00:52:05 so folks can stop by and see it. They have two stages that have music all day. It draws about 30,000 people over two days. That's a lot of people. Well, I appreciate it. I always feel like the sheep would be really cold after they lose all their wool. Did they give the sheep a sweater?
Starting point is 00:52:25 That's a great point. They cut all their hair off right when it starts to get cold. That's when they need that extra warmth, that extra hair. I guess they grow up. Have you thought about this a lot? Well, not until they cut your hair off, do you get cold? Well, you don't have a lot. But back when you did, did you get cold when they cut your hair off?
