Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Clivert Show,
I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes,
Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
A rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's he at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season.

You just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to, he's like, you know, I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.

Your 20s can be so exciting, but they can also be really overwhelming, confusing, and honestly, just kind of lonely.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the psychology of your 20s is breaking down the science behind the biggest roadblocks we face.
I was six years into my career, the 80-hour weeks, and just the first one in, the last one out, and I ended up burning out.
There was a large chunk of my 20s that I, like, was just so wanting to, like, be out of that phase out of my skin.
And I just, like, really regret not living in the present more.
You don't need to have everything figured out right now.
You just need to understand yourself a little bit better.

Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome, everyone, Kentucky Sports Radio Tuesday, October the 8th.
I'm Matt Jones here at the KS Bar and Grill, which will open in an hour with Ryan Lemon and Drew Franklin.
Shannon is in Louisville.
You can give us shout on the Clark's Pump and Shop phone line.
I want to talk to you today.
We actually kind of have sort of a mix of a day because we don't have Big Blue Madness or the game.
So we got some time to talk.
You can ask your questions.
I kind of see this as a lot of a basketball day for Verizon.
variety of reasons. It's UK Media Day. And I got to watch the team play for the first time yesterday,
as a lot of you may have on the computer on Pro Day. The Clark's Puppet Shop phone line, or text machine
is 772. No, that's not right. A Vision Auto Glass text machine is 772-744. In this edition,
sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, you call T.J. He'll make them pay. Ryan, Drew,
I want to talk about yesterday, the Pro Day. I want to talk about the football game.
Saturday, but we, Ryan, I'm very excited about this evening.
I didn't think we were going to be able to talk about it, but now we can, and so I need to
express my excitement to you.
I'm very excited.
I didn't really get the invitation until yesterday, so you've known about it for a little bit.
Yeah, so I've known about this for about a week.
Tonight, you know, my favorite artist and what I think all of you like, but certainly my favorite
one, Tyler Childers, is playing a concert in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Yes, in Georgetown.
That is going to be live streamed on, I think, Drew, it's called volume.
I don't know what that is.
What is that?
First, I've heard of it.
They play concerts, right?
It's like a streaming podcast-y concert.
It's an app.
It's an app.
Or a site.
And a site.
And if you have the internet, you can find how to get it from the internet.
You go to, however you watch Pro Day, just do that.
Exactly.
Go where the pro day was, and it's streaming at 6 o'clock.
It is a, it's like a get out the vote.
It's to encourage people to go vote.
Correct.
Okay.
I don't think it's to encourage, it's not to encourage you to vote for,
you vote for whoever you want.
You can vote for Mario if you want.
You can vote for, what's your name, sir?
Zach, you can vote for Zach.
Might do it.
Might do it.
But it's a volume, and he's streaming it, and it starts at 6 o'clock.
And I think it goes, you know, for a couple hours,
and it's going to stay up there, and it's going to be like him playing music.
with his band but shannon they're they have to tape it somewhere yeah right so i just go to my
ESPN app i open that up and there's Tyler jitters i think so okay no it's on volume oh okay
i said they have to tape it i guess that's not the language you but you have to perform it somewhere
so they're performing it at country boy in georgetown and i got invited i'm really i mean i'm
really excited and he's there's only going to be 250 people right 250 people i saw tyler
eight years ago, and there were less than 250 people.
And now I remember thinking, as I walked out of that show at the borough
where there was probably like 500 people, I remember thinking,
well, I'll never get to see him in this size venue ever again.
And now we get to do it tonight.
And then they invited Ryan, Drew, Shannon.
I assume they invited Billy.
Did they invite Billy?
I've not talked to Billy.
Drew, you were supposed to invite Billy.
I do not put this evil on me, Ricky Bobby.
I think Drew you were supposed to invite Billy.
I'll call Billy during the break.
Let him know.
And Mario.
Mario got invited.
Mario doesn't even know who Tyler Childers is.
And like there are Tyler Childers fans, Drew, who would absolutely murder to be there tonight.
And Mario's going to be there.
How crazy is that?
Mario's Hot Street continues.
I'm very excited.
I've seen him several times at big festivals or Rupp Arena,
but for something this small,
I mean, I just think that's going to make it an even better experience.
I'm really looking forward to it.
Can you imagine seeing your favorite artist
in a venue where we did OVW wrestling a few weeks ago?
And KSR.
We've done KSR there.
Yes.
Like the amount of people that are at the KSR remote,
that's how many they're letting in for this.
Now, I've been told, don't show up.
They're like, they won't let you in.
Like, I know there's people listening who want to.
want to like come and and but they're not going to let you in like they sold some tickets that
will the money goes to to voting i don't know goes to a voting stuff and and i'll it goes to voting
and i just go to volume dot go to go to volume which is that's the real website by the way but they
invited us because we we you know because country boy we've been partners with them forever and
ryan i'm really excited about i'm super excited about the only time i've ever seen him live is when
he did the Flood Relief Benefit concert at Rupp Arena.
And, of course, he just did like about a 30-minute set.
Yeah.
So I'm really excited, but you said you've seen him like a dozen times already.
I counted on my drive here.
I think this will be my 13th time.
Wow.
I think I've seen him in at small venues in Lexington three times.
What's the place in Louisville?
Is it headliners?
Is that a play Shannon in Louisville?
Yes, it is.
Yes, headlines.
Yeah, I saw him back-to-back nights there.
I saw him in a thing he did to help raise money for Johnny Boone's
The cornbread mafia.
I'm sure that was quite a concert.
Yeah, that was a long time ago.
That was with the cornbread hemp guys.
So that was six.
Then we saw him at Rupp twice.
So I'm in Brooklyn, St. Louis,
Cumberland, Maryland, and L.A.
So this will be the third.
No, this will be the 14th time because I saw him in Amsterdam, too, originally.
So this will be 14.
Yes.
Well, like you said, there'll be security out there.
People don't think you're just going to be able to drive up and go to the concert.
You're not going to be allowed to get in there.
You're not going to be allowed to get it.
14 times is impressive to see anybody.
I mean, you're practically a groupie at this point now.
Oh, for sure.
And it's been a couple years.
It's been, well, I guess I saw him at the Willie Nelson thing in L.A.
So that would have been the last time.
But he only played a couple songs and then was gone.
Do you see him at Red Rock one time?
Oh, I forgot about that one.
15 times shit.
Yes, I saw him at Red Rock.
You haven't seen him in yet.
I mean, the restraining order.
if this is going to be.
Well, so it should be a fun event, and we'll play some of his music here today.
But now, Mario, I think that's going to be interesting to get his take on this tonight.
I will be.
Mario, have you ever even been to a country concert?
No.
Have you ever been to a concert sung by a white person?
No.
See, this is what I'm saying.
This will be a completely different thing for Mario.
We're opening all kinds of new doors for Mario.
Right. He is just this sponge that is just taking in all these new things. Yesterday at Pro Day, which we'll get into later, but he just had so many questions. He did.
Actually, put him on for just a second. Do you mind? Here you go. Mario, just go on, get on Drew's microphone there.
So you have never been to a country concert. What in your mind is a country concert going to look like?
I'm not 100% sure. I know it's going to be country music. I do know that. I'm guessing it depends on what type of
of music they play like what type of countries it's gonna be like up tempo or no it's gonna be like
mountain country music so something with a strong voice i'm yeah i think that's fair to say yeah
will there be a lot of cowboy hats there probably not there might be a couple but it's not like it's
not like jason aldean okay we we get in a picket tip like it's not gonna be like everybody
pretends to be a cowboy yeah it's not it's gonna be like people will be wearing trucker hats
Wouldn't you agree?
That's probably true.
But not cowboy hats.
Now, what are you going to wear?
I'm wearing what I got on right now.
Okay, so you're not going to try to dress for the atmosphere.
No, I'm not.
Get you a trucker hat.
Do you have a trucker hat?
I do have a trucker hat, but it was my hair I can't wear it.
I can't wear hats like.
So you're just going to be like, I'm Mario.
I'm Mario, this is me in the flesh.
This is you doing your thing.
Yep.
Okay, so I think, you know, there may be some dignitary.
Are you going to go introduce yourself to the dignitaries?
I think a lot of the, you know, probably politicians.
Do you know who Silas House is?
He's an author.
I don't know who that is.
He'll be here.
Probably.
I'm just guessing.
I don't know that for sure.
Maybe Andy Bescher maybe?
Maybe, yeah, maybe.
Ryan Quarles, maybe.
I don't know who's got.
The only people I know are coming is us in DH.
Cool.
Do you have any advice for him, Brian?
Part of my fun tonight will be not just music,
but I think observing Mario soaking it all in.
Don't you think so?
We'll enjoy that.
So I think you should just take video of what it's like for you to go to a country concert.
That would be fun.
Well, are you looking forward to it?
I'm definitely looking forward to it.
Tomorrow you can give your impressions of what it is.
That's the plan.
All right.
I appreciate it.
Now the other part of this is Shannon in a classic Shannon form, invited to go.
Not coming.
He was just here a week ago.
Not coming.
He was just here.
It's 250 people.
How can you not come?
Tell Tyler, I promise I'll vote.
I've got it.
I got the message.
I will vote.
You got me.
But Drew, like, even if I wasn't the biggest fan, if it's 250 people in a place like country, like I'm going to go.
Like, if it was the foo fighters.
Or if it was, what band would you, that's still alive?
Which you really want to see.
Not many.
Maybe like, okay, like, let's do a Kentucky band that I really like.
Blackstone Cherry.
I love those guys.
Blackstone Cherry was like there.
And with Shannon, they invite, I would go.
Wouldn't you go?
I think he would want to go.
Ryan doesn't even know who they are.
You wouldn't go.
Oh, yeah, Blackstone Cherry.
Yeah, Blue Stone Cherry.
Yeah, Robbie Uprey.
Yeah, Robbie Uprey.
You're playing.
That's a good one.
I think just as part of our little posse.
So, like, who's your favorite group?
Darius Rucker.
I would go with you with 250 people.
Drew, who's yours?
I've been with you to see JZ.
No, we've already done it.
We've done it.
It's going to be hard to see Jimmy Buffett these days.
That would be harder.
So I just, not surprisingly, Shannon has a chance to do something that probably half of our listeners would like punching to get to do.
And Shannon's like, no, I'm going to sit home and watch the roll.
Royals play baseball. You joke, but that's probably what I'll do. I know that's what you'll do.
I would drive a long distance for tonight's experience. So would I. I'm very happy it's in my
backyard in Georgetown, but if they called from a brewery in Illinois and I were able to make it,
I would I would try to put it off? Not Shannon. The question is, would Shannon have gone if it was
next door to his house? Eh, let's find out the radius.
You're okay. How many miles? It's right. You guys keep it down over there. You're too loud.
He live in Bullitt County.
If it was in Nelson County, would you go if it was in Bardstown?
Let's see.
It's about a 20-minute drive.
Probably not.
It's unbelievable.
He gets the opportunity.
The thing that Joe is crazy to me about Cheney.
He gets the opportunity to do all this stuff.
And, like, he does like a quarter of it.
But you're the same way, though, Ryan.
You're the same way.
We've had so many cool sports opportunities.
that you used to say no.
And then finally I was like, you're going to this stuff.
But that was a conversation.
Remember, Drew, we used to go to the NCAA tournament,
and he wouldn't go.
And finally I had to sit him down and go,
look, you're part of the show, you have to go.
And now you go, but, like, a lot of times
you would rather just sit at home.
Well, a lot of times there's other obligations.
I don't know, watching the Royals baseball game,
and the obligation and not do something like this.
Let's be honest.
You would sit at home with your lady,
and you all would like massage each other's feet.
That's what you would have done for a lot of things.
Didn't get into that.
I just did eight out of 11 days at a music festival.
I've kind of burned out on it.
Yeah.
But nevertheless.
It is kind of an intimate setting where you don't make it too intimate.
This is just a concert.
You're letting you're talking to.
You're going to be in Tyler tonight.
Yeah.
Go massage Tyler.
No, I don't think we won't be.
We'll be embodied back.
Massage the vote.
That's right.
859-280-80.
2287. The text machine is 772, 7754. When we come back, we went to Pro Day yesterday, me and Drew and Mario.
First time I've been in that building since COVID. And it was very interesting to watch the new team.
Drew and I will talk about some of our impressions. That's next here on KSI.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano,
and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs
without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash will get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers
why he got the ball.
Like, you go through a training camp with that, I said,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,

You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, hell!
on the internet.
Help!
Somebody!
Please!
But there's so much more to me than me.
I'm an actor.
I'm a comedian, and recently, I've become
quite the helper myself.
And on my new podcast,
hope from a hypocrite,
I'll be changing lives,
helping people in need

Sike! I'm a comedian.
I'm not qualified to give good advice.

If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone,

If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta,
You already know, there's a lot to break down.
Gorsha accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man.
They holding Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew.
Pinky has financial issues.
I like the bougie style of Housewives show.
I think it looks like it's going to be interesting.
On the podcast, Reality with the King, I, Carlos King,
recap the biggest moments from your favorite reality shows,
including the Real Housewives franchise,
the drama, the alliances, and the team everybody's talking about.
As an executive producer in reality television, I'm not just watching it.
I understand the game.
As somebody who creates shows, I'll even say this.
At the end of the day, when people are at home, they want entertainment.
To hear this and more, listen to Reality with the King on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio.
Those of you that are riding me asking if you can buy Shannon's take it, the answer is no.
Yeah.
Shannon, that ticket will go back into the general fund because he didn't use it, but no, you cannot.
I've got so many lookalikes out there.
You can just pose as me and nobody would question you.
We could bring the puppet from the Mr. Rogers and that would be able to get in.
It would be great.
But now Billy needs it.
Yeah.
Yeah, we'll give it to Billy.
859-280-2287.
Let's talk about the football thing yesterday, Drew, or football, basketball.
First of all, impressions of watching our basketball team play.
Memorial Coliseum, the first time I've seen it in its basketball, complete setup, done, amazing.
Yeah.
I mean, I knew it was good.
It's amazing.
Like, it's going to be so cool.
That blue-white thing in there is going to be really, really cool.
It was awesome.
What was your take on it?
Yeah, I mean, this was my first time seeing the basketball team.
And sorry, guys, I cared more about the building.
That place was so cool.
It wasn't like they just threw some posters up, some paint, tried to fix it up a little bit.
That felt like being an entirely new building.
It was so nice.
The new scoreboard, though, doesn't go to 100.
We got to get that fixed.
Yeah, that's something we got to get fixed.
The new scoreboard stops at 99.
Can't do that.
Come on.
Because the women's team's going to hit 100.
So we got to fix the scoreboard.
Nevertheless, everything else I thought was awesome.
Like, it's beautiful inside, and it feels like you're in a modern building.
You know, if you kind of want that old, historic, that's gone.
It doesn't feel like that anymore.
It feels like you're in a modern arena.
I think that's good.
One side has chairbacks, which I think is very good.
The home side, the other side does not, but it is very, very nice.
The team, here's what I'll say.
And a lot of you that watch this on streaming will know this,
although I don't think it didn't seem to me like a ton of people were watching it.
This is going to be so different than what we've had in the last 14 years
that I'm going to be interested to see how fans react to it.
I think they're going to love it.
Like, for those of you that loved the Patino, it's time.
It's that again, get ready for that.
Like, think about what that 91, 92, 93, 94 team, really before he loaded up with stars.
But those first few teams, I think that's what you're going to see.
Now, I think there's better players.
Well, Mashburn was great.
But besides Mashburn, I think there's going to be.
some better players here than you saw them, but that's what we're going to see.
Up and down to court, shooting hard-nosed defense, they're counting deflections.
Like, Patino basketball is back here, and that's the mindset we need to have.
Now, the talent is not as good as what we've seen with Cal.
It's just not.
They don't have guys who can do the thing that makes you go, whoa.
That's not really there.
The closest thing is Jackson Robinson, and he'll give you a couple of those moments.
But in general, this is going to be team basketball, passing, cutting, shooting,
defense in your face, help, take charges.
That's what we're going to see.
Dude's just taking it and dunking on somebody.
How many dunks did we even see yesterday?
Andrew Carr had one good one.
Other than that, I don't even really remember.
I mean, it's just not going to happen.
And I think it'll be a ton of fun, but it is going to be.
drew extremely different and it sort of watching it yesterday it popped to me in a way that it didn't
theoretically. I had to take a second to go, this is just a completely different Kentucky
basketball than I've seen since the tubby era and probably the Patino era in terms of how they
play. Yeah, and offensively, I love all of the passing. It's just like pass, pass. There's just not
much dribbling. I mean, Cal's dribble drive, that was a big deal. He had guys that could penetrate.
I loved watching him doing it. I don't even remember dribbles yesterday. It's past, pass, pass. A lot of it
was running through Mario Williams at the top of the key. I think Center could be among the
assist leaders on the team with the way they're going to play. And the way he was just fine in open
shooters and knock him down. It's so different and it's going to be so fun to watch as long as they're
winning, got a win, but it's just a completely different style. I'm excited for a refresh and see something new.
It is, but I'm going to predict, whether it's the blue-white game or it's the first or second exhibition game,
there's going to be a moment, Ryan, where fans are like, what is happening?
Like, it's completely different.
And when I, you know, I think probably the best example is Alabama.
I think in two or, in a year or two, when we get the talent Pope is trying to get,
I think the Alabama teams of the last year or two,
be what it reminds you up.
But I'm not sure this team has the level of size and athleticism
that the Alabama teams of the last cut.
So like, if you watched BYU last year,
it's probably a better version of that.
But this is a different kind of player than we've had at Kentucky since tubbing.
I mean, that's the last time we've had dudes like this.
This is a team of Gerald Fitches and Eric Daniels.
Like, that's what this is.
And I just think fans,
it's just going to be so different.
They seem like they play very fast, and they're going to be fun to watch.
They play so fast.
They are going to be insanely fast.
Yeah.
Like, I mean, every possession in practice yesterday was 12 seconds or the shot clock went off.
Now, I mean, I'm told that usually it's 20, but they wanted to do 12 for the pro scouts.
But even if usually it's 20, that's crazy fast.
Yeah.
Now, individual assessments, to me, if I'm looking individually, there were four things that stood out.
Number one, Jackson Robinson is the dude in terms of six seconds left.
You need a shot.
It's going to be him.
He's the only guy I saw Drew who could go take his man and get his shot at any time.
Do you agree with that?
I do.
You could see it there.
I actually thought he didn't even have a great day.
I don't know as being maybe the main NBA guy.
having all those scouts around him.
He was filmed that a little bit,
but I even thought he could have given more.
But it was clear that when you need a penetrator or a rim finisher,
he's the one.
He's the one guy that if you watch, you could say,
I could have seen him play for Cal just in the way that he played.
I think that the two best players besides him, by far, are Carr and Brea.
Offensively.
Would you agree with that?
Yeah.
I've got another guy that I'm putting as one of the best players.
Okay, but offensively,
Those dudes kind of are another level.
Then I think the other seven guys are going to be interchangeable.
I think there's a couple guys that won't play a lot this year.
I mean, to me, I'm doing tiers.
Jackson 1, Carbrea 2, then Tier 3, pretty much everybody else.
And then Tier 4, I think I would put Almanor, Noah, and maybe even Chandler.
I think Chandler struggled a little more than I thought he would.
He's shorter than I thought he was.
He did some pretty athletic things when they broke out in the five-on-five.
He's got some athleticism.
But I do think I put Travis Perry with that third group.
Just because he doesn't miss.
I think you're leaving off Lamont Butler.
His defense was so they couldn't dribble around him.
He's going to be the starting point guard.
And when Pope said, I don't lose sleep a night, worry about guarding SEC point guards.
I saw a little bit yesterday exactly what Pope meant.
man, that dude was a menace defensively.
That's fair.
That's fair.
I can see that.
Do you agree with me?
Travis Perry is going to play?
I know people think we're exaggerating.
I even thought Pope and the team was exaggerating.
I don't remember him missing more than one shot yesterday.
I'm not trying to hype him up too much.
I'm telling you what I saw.
I watched him in a drill waiting for a miss and couldn't find one.
If they finally later in the practice, when they're playing a little five-on-five, he missed a shot.
And I even tweeted, you all need to know that he finally just missed.
Ryan, he doesn't miss.
want you to think about how money Reed Shepard and Antonio Rees would feel. He feels more money than
that. Now, I think he has a hard time than those guys getting his own shot. But I'm telling you,
if he's open, just start running down the court. It's going in. And that's why he's going to be on
the court. Now, he made it, you know, I get a ton of minutes, but he's going to get on the court,
especially teams start throwing his own out there. He's going to play, man. I don't know if he can
guard or what he can do, but if he has an open shot, he's going to hit it. He's going to hit.
I put my life on it. I mean, that dude was hitting every.
everything I watched him shoot.
So I am really excited about this group.
I have no idea how they're going to do.
I really don't.
I have no idea how they're going to do.
I think there are going to be some games where we beat the junk out of teams.
And then I think there's going to be some games where we're down eight at home to
Old Miss with three minutes left and we're like, what are we doing?
But it's going to be fun.
Yeah.
I think this group, I don't think there's going to be any game you watch.
his team play that you're not going to have fun.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Shannon, not going to get to hear this tonight because he's got, like, other things to do.
I can hear it right now, though.
That's why he's also not going to vote.
He's just going to be like, look, the Royals are on.
That's what it is.
He's taking a stance.
He's just big Royals guy.
It's been for a long time.
That's all right.
That's what you want to do.
That's fine.
859-280-2287.
My mom said if she had known, Shannon, she would take your ticket.
She can have it.
Well, I mean, she can't.
It's my ticket.
I'll do what I want with it.
I don't know if that's how it works.
I'll give it to your mom before I give it to Billy.
That would be funny if you just said, Billy.
No, sorry, it's not happening.
If I'm not 280-2287, one person says, Matt, tell me why you don't
think Trent Noah will play. I mean, he could play. I just think he's a step behind the rest of the
group. I mean, you know, I'm not saying it's not a massive step. I think he will play at Kentucky.
I'm just not sure if he will play this year. That's what I would say, a significant amount.
Makes sense. You know, it's tough coming a lot of times, you know, a new situation, freshman guy.
The one I was surprised that he said that was Colin Chandler. I thought maybe he was maybe.
Very athletic. Yeah. I think I thought he was a great.
shooter and he didn't make a lot but also his forms not great you know what I mean like so I think
there's a ways to go for him maybe I'll be wrong I mean but like I don't I'd be surprised I had gone into
that thinking that's our seventh eighth man I don't think that's true I think he'll be more like
10th man maybe he's got some hops I think he can turn into something it's probably I don't know
coming back from his time off how much time he'll need but I see potential there in the
run. Same with Trent Noah, even though, you know, I don't expect him to be playing significant minutes.
There's something there for sure. Yeah, for sure, for sure. But the difference between them and Travis Perry is
Travis Perry has something that he's already a lead at, which is he does not miss. Whereas those guys are
fine shooters, but they miss. Travis Perry does not miss. What do you think of Brandon Garrison?
What? Great defensively. I mean, he and Lamont Butler kind of owned the thing defensively. And so
was Amari Williams. All three of those guys, good defensive players. Garrison made some good
plays once they started going full speed later in it too that's another one i'm excited maybe
about next year yeah i think amari williams is going to take up a lot of those minutes marie williams is
going to play a lot you know i mean i i thought there was a lot of people that could start i kind of
think the starting lineup is amari williams uh braya butler robinson car that's your starting line
just go ahead and pencil that in that's who's starting and then off the bench you'll see oa and
Cresa being kind of six and seven, Garrison, eight,
then you're looking at like a Perry Almanor, 9, 10 is kind of how I see it.
And then maybe Chandler and Noah 11, 12.
That's just my guess as of today, Drew.
Do you agree with that?
I think Williams, Carr, Butler, Robinson are locked, locked.
And Bray is pretty good.
I mean, he made Robbie O'Brien very proud yesterday to have that name.
Yeah, all right, who's up first, Shannon?
We'll start with Nate.
Nate, go ahead, Nate.
Yeah, Matt, I got a comment and then a question on the big news you guys were reporting on last week.
So comment, I know we talked a little bit about it yesterday,
but I can't believe what I'm seeing here from these broken Louisville fans.
I mean, that meaningless state of Louisville account writing that novel.
And then you got Deputy Dufus out there tweeting out.
prison photos of dudes who are commenting on the stadiums, you know, the people that are
attending the games, how many people. I mean, I mean, it's just completely unreal and
they're broken and then, uh, well, for the rest of the state, I'll let you do your other point
in a second, but for the rest of the state, if you're not following, there is a level of Louisville
fan brokenness that there shouldn't be when basketball hasn't even started yet. I mean, you know,
part of the argument that has been their argument over the years is we're just,
as passionate as fans as Kentucky.
There may not be as many of us,
but we're just as into it. Louisville's a top 10
basketball program, and in their minds, they believe
Louisville is the top 20 football program.
I agree with them, it's
a top 10 basketball program. Historically,
I would never agree with them that it's top
20 football. But
I don't think any,
and I've had conversations with Louisville
media and friends about
this. I am really
surprised. When
that program was cooking,
The energy of the fans was very passionate, and it is not there.
For a team that has two new coaches, basically, it should be good at football.
And in basketball, again, should be good.
I am amazed at the lack of, if you had told me they would get 8,800 people to their big blue madness,
and then have that crowd they had on Saturday, you know, beautiful weekend.
I would have never imagined it.
And so, you know, the Baghdad Bobbs have to have something to say.
And, like, one account, the state of Louisville, and I don't know who runs that, I'm sure they're a nice person.
But they come out and they say, basically, our fan showing Saturday was unacceptable.
Ryan, I don't think that was controversial.
I think he was right.
But he took a lot of criticism.
And then he wrote essentially a Brothers Karamazov-Ling novel about what being a Louisville person was, which was way over the top, Meloombo.
dramatic and they're having like a civil war drew and the season just started in football and has
not even started in basketball i've wondered he even asked on the football podcast to roush and luck
who live in lulver much closer to it than me if they're like broken beyond repair i like to make
fun of pat kelsey but if you know that's a good hire and i feel like he's done a good job of trying
to put some excitement in that if he can't get people to show up after the kenny pain era yeah
With Jeff Brom, who they all wanted to be the Louisville coach,
who's done pretty well, not great, but done pretty well.
How will they get excited about anything?
I've said Louisville's fan base is a party fan base.
They want to go where the party is.
And if that's true, right now, the party is not in Louisville, Ryan.
That's the way it seems.
You know, you submit Coach Kelsey, a high-energy guy trying to ignite some energy into that program.
But the one I'm really shocked about is Brom and the football program.
That's your favorite son.
You know, that's your, the guy came down from the Mighty Seas to help save the football program.
I could not believe walking around their campus that no one seemed to care about the game.
Shocking.
I mean, it reminded me when we went to Indiana and they were playing a basketball game
and it didn't seem like anyone even was watching it.
Yeah.
That's how it felt here.
What's your other point?
Yeah, hey, but question on the big news, you guys were reporting, Matt, and I'll take the answer off air.
but did Cal end up getting his hog slobbered or his hog slobbering or whatever?
You know, I don't know if they ended up getting that done or not.
I appreciate the call.
Usually when a goal like that is set and you don't hear anything, that means it didn't happen.
It didn't happen.
But they'll probably go ahead and slobber the hog anyway.
Like you don't announce we're going to do this unless you're going to do it.
So I'd say there'll be a big slobber hog on there.
And, you know, that'll be that.
I mean, they had a big weekend, too.
though. They won the game against Tennessee, so that helped. And you know, they're playing
a couple of exhibition games here very soon against big competition. I think they're playing
Illinois and Kansas or something like that. Yeah, they're playing Kansas, right? Because we wondered
when, why didn't he do that here, have these exhibition games against the top quality? Well, he has to do
more gimmicky stuff here, there. And I'm not criticizing that. I actually think that's really smart
to do is, but, you know, here, I think the theory was you can do anything and people will still care.
I think he used that against us sometimes because rather than do things the fans would like,
he just did what he wanted.
But there, he's going to have to work to get crowds and playing Kansas is one way to do it.
Who's next?
Andy.
Andy.
Andy, go ahead, Andy.
859, 280, 8-8-2-8027.
I can barely hear you, Andy.
Bluetooth.
Bluetooth.
I put myself off speed.
There you.
Yeah, we don't do Bluetooth.
You know that, Andy.
Oh, I like a show when I think you're.
pretty good feller, but I just believe you're going to feel a little silly when Kyle walks in
with a hog and beats us after you single-handedly run him off.
Yeah, I did not single-handedly run him off. I mean, that's, that's, do you think I'm the
only person in the state that thought they was, first of all, I didn't even ever say he should be
fired. I said it would be best if both parties separated, which by the way is exactly what
happened. But do you think I'm the only person in the state that felt that way?
Well, yours is the biggest one. I mean, you're trying to.
That's just using the strength of this show against me.
My question for you is, do you think I'm the only one that thought there should be a change between Kentucky and Cal?
I can't hear you.
You're breaking up.
I said the only thing-minded one.
To be honest, you was just mad he wouldn't come on the show.
No, I was mad.
What happened in the NCAA tournament last year?
What was the result?
I just asked the question.
Now, the media didn't play Oakland.
Who played Oakland last year in the tournament?
No, this is in the media.
Okay, I appreciate the call.
It was not me that caused Cal to miss the tournament in 2020.
It was not me who caused Kentucky to lose, excuse me, in 2021.
20, we didn't have a tournament.
Not me that caused Cal to miss a tournament in 2021.
Not me that caused Cal to losing the second round to Kansas State in 2022.
and have a team that fought each other the entire season.
Not me who caused us to lose to St. Peter's.
Not me who caused us to lose to Oakland.
None of those were me.
I didn't have anything to do with any of that.
It's not me who caused us to go 0 and 3 against Gonzaga in the last few years.
Not me who caused us to lose by 20 at home to South Carolina.
It's not me who had us 1 and 6 in the last 7 games in the Champions Classic.
That's not me.
And it's not me who refused to do my interviews, not just with KSR, but with any media.
I didn't have anything to do with any of that.
And by the way, it's not me that ran off most people around the program that liked him because they couldn't be there anymore.
That wasn't me.
I'm not perfect.
And there may have been times where we said something that maybe we shouldn't have said, I'll accept that.
But it wasn't me.
He did it to himself.
And all I did was say the answer.
That's like getting mad when somebody says news you don't like,
getting mad at the person who says it to you.
So I wish Cal the best.
But if you don't think it's going to be better Friday night at Rupp Arena,
than it would have been if he returned,
then I don't know what to tell you.
In February 1st, maybe we win, maybe we lose.
but this program is going better for the future with the change than it would have if he would have been here.
We'll be right back.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo.

What's up, fam?
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when
they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
After you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
A rep.
My mama want you to wave at her.
Hey, Ms. Parker.

Well done, Shannon. That's a good song pick.
Sorry for the people on the podcast, they don't get to hear that.
Shannon's so good at that.
He is highly underrated for that kind of music play he does for us.
Shannon, I think you probably need to go back to putting the songs up so that people on the podcast know what it was.
Okay, yeah, I can do that.
I think y'all to do that.
Sure.
Because that way they would know, because that was, it ain't me, babe, which is perfect for that
segment, but, like, unfortunately, the podcast people.
Johnny Cash is going to sue us, so we can't have that in the podcast.
Yeah, I don't think Johnny himself will do it.

You break into somebody's personal information.

You could use it against them, like steal their financial records,

One person writes, Matt, I don't know why you let that guy blame you.
if he wants to say I was somebody who agreed with you as well.
Well, I will tell you what, maybe not why him,
but why a lot of people want to say it is,
that is what Cal says.
I mean, that is what Cal says.
You know, he goes and he blames me for his problems here.
He genuinely believes that I led a revolt that got him out.
That's what he believes.
I think it's absurd, but that is what he believes.
And he says that, or at least he did, I don't know if he still does.
I think he's probably transitioned to Arkansas.
But he says that, and he said it all, he said it all last season.
I was having a conversation with a couple of meteor rivers I hadn't seen in a long time yesterday,
and we were talking about that.
And he has said that.
He said it all year.
So when people, when I said, like, I was considering not doing.
doing this anymore, Ryan.
I couldn't have another year where every time I met people, they'd be like, man,
Cal says you're trying to run him off.
What's that about?
You know, Ryan, you know I'm right about that.
First of all, it's kind of an odd time for that call to come in.
A Cal supporter call came in here during the football season.
But you're right.
I mean, he said it many times last year, one media member has an agenda.
And in private, I was named.
That's right.
They're not real fans.
You're not real fans.
I wasn't real fans.
I mean, literally, I was here before and I'll be here after.
And that stinks, not just because it made it stressful, I hated that position because I liked him.
I still don't understand.
I really don't.
But what I have learned, and I sort of did this in Europe, I'm not letting him.
I'm not letting people blame me for that.
And if we come out this year and let's say they're great and let's say we're bad,
Drew, I will firmly go to my grave and say it wouldn't have happened here.
Me too.
Absolutely.
It would not have happened here.
Maybe it'll happen there.
I'm skeptical.
But it would not have happened here.
He's gotten a recharge there.
Might be just to prove everybody in Kentucky a point.
Who knows what his motivation is.
but they're getting a different version of Caliperian and Fayetteville
that we would have gotten this summer.
Did you see that picture of him?
He's skinny.
He's lost a lot of weight.
He looks good.
He might do press conferences this year.
He looks good.
There's a picture of him.
I don't know how much it was altered like Mario does to some time.
But he looked good, and I thought he's lost weight.
And, you know, it's the second wife kind of back on the dating market thing.
I get it.
If he'd stayed here, we all know it would have been just a lot of the same.
same stories, same situation, same ending.
Yeah.
Matt said this, but madness this coming Friday.
It would have been awful.
He would have done the speech.
The seats would have been empty.
It would have been all.
We would just be waiting for another shot at a tournament
for him to just try to redeem what's been gone wrong last years.
Can you imagine what madness would have been like?
It would have been awful because everybody would gone talk to me and what, right?
Who's next?
Claude.
Claude.
Go ahead, Claude.
Hey, good morning, guys.
I first have to say I am from Virgie Kentucky of the Tyler Childers song.
I imagine you guys travels on the show.
Of course, yeah, that's got to be awesome.
One of his biggest songs has your town in it.
Man, it's awesome.
We do love it.
And, of course, folks are very proud.
But, you know, I don't, have you guys heard about the Virgie basketball history?
Do you know about that?
Of course, yeah.
Todd May up there, lighten it up in the early to mid-80s?
That's right.
So here's the, here's the connection to Middlesbrough.
So in Todd's senior year, Virgie had sort of declared itself the King of the Mountains.
And there was a guy that had a record store in Virgie, old-fashioned record store,
but he sold T-shirts and hats, created a logo.
Virgie King of the Mountains.
Well, Middlesbrough had a very good basketball team, Todd May's senior year.
And I was the seventh grader, the story we got was, hey, Middlesbrough doesn't like you guys
of calling yourself the King of the Mountains.
They want to play Virgin.
Let's see who really the King of the Mountains are.
I like that.
Well, Middlesbril, Virgie, who's the king of the mountains?
I like that.
Well, what happened?
Well, so Middlesbril came to Virgie.
Okay.
And we had a brand new gym.
We had like 2,500 people that sold out.
And as a buddy of mine from Lynch would say,
Vergie stomped their guts out.
Oh, well, that was luck.
You all were, you know.
Yeah, of course you get to play it at your home court.
What about all?
If you had to come to, what's the name of our gym?
It was two brothers.
It was two brothers.
Anyway, okay.
Well, listen, Burjie is a great history.
I've been there.
You got to want it.
That's what I always say about going back there,
which is part of why I like that he picked that for his song.
Thank you very much, sir.
Who's up next?
Let's go to Garrett.
Garrett, what's up, Garrett?
Fuson brothers.
What's up, guys?
That's right.
Ig and Ogg and Ogg.
Go ahead.
That was their names.
Iggynug.
Thank you.
All right, go ahead.
I just want to say about that.
that Arkansas guy.
That is just the goofiest thing that anybody could ever say.
Sure, Matt has a loud voice, but I've got a group chat with me and my buddy's dad and him.
We're some of the most diehard fans you'll meet.
We were all fed up with this crap.
Well, you're not a while.
Me and your group chat.
There we go.
Unfortunately, we were the ones that did it.
I appreciate it.
Why are you all laughing at Ig and O?
Ig and Ogg.
Those are great names.
Ig and Ug and Ug and Fuson.
That was their real name.
Yes.
Well, I don't know if it's a real name, but they went by Ig and UG.
And it was I GG and UG.
You're making this up.
It's Ig and Ogg.
We'll take a break.
KS. Barr is about to open.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Ig and hug.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest,
SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind,
and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through
the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind
the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker
room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to Sports
Slice on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more,

and I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast, Point Game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest
playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was crying. You just understood. That's how personal
it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to, he's like, you know I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the Iheart

so exciting, but they can also be really overwhelming, confusing, and honestly, just kind of lonely.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the psychology of your 20s is breaking down the science
behind the biggest roadblocks we face. I was six years into my career, the 80-hour weeks,
and just the first one in, the last one out, and I ended up burning out. There was a large chunk of
my 20s that I was just so wanting to, like, be out of that phase out of my skin, and I just, like,
really regret not living in the present more.
You don't need to have everything figured out right now.
You just need to understand yourself a little bit better.
