Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

Starting point is 00:01:25 Quarterback on office blue 42. A rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's he at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifferts show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam?

We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was harmed. You just understood. He kind of showed me out of the way and said, said move, and he went out the front door, and he jumped in a car and drove off, and that was the last time I saw him. Listen to season 14 of Family Secrets on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Stockton Mortgage, NMLS 8259 Equal Housing Lender, NMLS Consumer Access.org. Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Hour number two here at the KS Bar and Grill. Wings Day today, Dollar Wings. Today, tonight. There's trivia tonight. A lot going on. Baseball going all night. So it should be very, very exciting.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Got Dollar Wing. It's not going to do better than that anywhere on the planet. Well, maybe somewhere on the planet. But I'm just going to say. They're not this good, though. These are great. That's right. One person writes, Matt, I swatched you.
Starting point is 00:04:18 I could see the back of your head on the live stream for the concert. You look to be very happy. I was very happy. Music was great. Everything was awesome. I just have two quick things. that I would like to say to people when you go to concerts. This is just my, this is Matt's concert etiquette.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Okay. Okay. Number one, shut up. Okay, John Mellencamp. No, no. I'm not saying shut up like, I'm just saying, unless you're like, don't talk loud, unless it's like a concert, Shannon, like a, like a metal concert, where that's what you do.
Starting point is 00:05:01 But when someone is singing a slow song, shut up, right? Like, how do people talk during the thing? There were people all over the place, and I'm like, why are you talking? Stop. And I'm not trying to be the fun police, but like, if you want to talk to your friends
Starting point is 00:05:19 and like in a low voice, but people are like, especially they're yelling, and it's like, what are you doing? The second thing is, I get it. all want to sing the song it's fine and if it's a loud song sing it but when someone is singing a ballad with an acoustic guitar i should not hear your voice they have a microphone and they are on stage and if you are singing louder than them you are singing too loud and if you're going to sing at least be on beat. At least be singing to where you're not singing when they've stopped.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Well, now I'm glad I didn't go because who could have fun around you with all these rules. Now, look, this only happened a couple times. It wasn't, but am I wrong about either of those things? Well, we all remember one guest that wasn't part of our party that would not leave my wife alone. And we had to be like, we just enjoy the concert. Look, I get it. Whatever. People are trying to have fun. It's just the talk. But the singing ignores, the scene, look, if it's Taylor Swift and you're going, shake it off, shake it off, whatever, we can't hear you anyway. But if someone is sitting there singing an acoustic ballad by themselves like Lady May, you cannot. Don't sing, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:06:42 We came there to hear Tyler Schilder sing. I could hear you sing any time, and I wouldn't pay. There we go. I think I did sing a little bit, to In Your Love. I tried to mumble it, though. I just couldn't help myself. Well, a couple spots like that one when everybody says, Eastern Kentucky. Well, first of all, everyone is singing a little bit.
Starting point is 00:06:59 I did too. But it shouldn't be so loud that I can hear someone else's voice in a slow song. In a, like, on a fast song, go for it. Because that's part of the thing, right? So did you have a good time? No, I had a great time. These are just things I just, I feel this at a lot of shows. I just wanted to express it because I feel like it's something people need to think about.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Am I wrong about it? You all are acting like I'm, am I wrong about this? I'm just playing back the night. I'm like, did I sing? No, no, you wasn't, you all? Shannon, am I wrong? I mean, I'm fun with people talking and having fun and singing. It doesn't bother me nearly as much as it seems to bother you.
Starting point is 00:07:39 Shannon's rule affected me yesterday. I have a Tyler Childers hat I love, and I was afraid to wear it because Shannon's band rule. I left it at home. That's a tongue-in-cheek rule you can wear whatever you want to work. You do you. No, you do what you want to do. But I don't get as upset about it as you do, though. All right. Well, I'm just saying that's my one, two pieces of advice.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Hurricane Milton, is it supposed to hit land today? There was just a tornado that came through ahead of it. Wow. So, I mean, you know, it's hard to know on some of this stuff because, like, part of weather is everything's the worst. But it does seem like this could be the worst, that this could be really, really bad. I know the barometric pressure got down to the fifth lowest of all time, which, I don't even know what those words mean, but apparently that means it's really, really bad.
Starting point is 00:08:27 I think, as I understand it, they're worried about wind, but they're really worried about flooding. Yeah. About, like, how high it's going to get, et cetera. The mayor, I mean, the mayor said something to the effect of, if you stay here, you will die.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Which, when I hear that, that feels like to me enough to not argue. I mean, I'm just like, I'm good. But then I was sitting there thinking, I saw the cameras of the traffic getting out of Florida. It looked so awful it would almost make me want to stay just to not be in that traffic. Something tells me you would have a way to get ahead of that traffic, though. You're so good at getting out of places.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Well, I would have left last week or something. You left a month ago. But you know, I heard somebody talking on television. It makes sense. You get in that traffic. You use up a lot of gas. The gas stations are running out of gas. I mean, you are kind of in a tough spot.
Starting point is 00:09:24 No, people who are there, rental cars are gone. They said there were no rental cars when it started because so many people had lost their cars in the other hurricane that they were using rental cars as like backup cars. So now there are no cars for anybody to rent. Planes are shut down. So, you know, we don't have public transportation of significance in this country. So, like, it would be scary to kind of be there, Ryan,
Starting point is 00:09:48 because who knows? I mean, you saw what happened. North Carolina, people got cut off from the world. Yeah, yoga girl's brother was down in Tampa for work, and he left at 5 o'clock yesterday morning. Took him 12 hours to get from Tampa to Atlanta. See, that just sounds so awful to me. But you don't have a choice, right? You have a choice, yeah, because you have to keep going because as you went along, there was no hotels.
Starting point is 00:10:07 People, as they get out of Florida, immediately take a hotel. You have to keep going just to find a hotel. And my sister lives pretty far south. She was lucky to get on a plane, but she was prepared to make the drive from Fort Lauderdale. as far as it took. I can't even imagine having to do that. So, you know, I mean, I guess that's all happening tonight. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:26 So, you know, scary. Scary prayers to everybody. You know, we've already just gotten hit in other parts of the country. It's a sad, it's a sad thing. And, you know, hopefully it ends up okay. But when you hear the mayor say, if you stay, you will die. That's enough for me. I'm out.
Starting point is 00:10:46 She, you know, if she ends up wrong, I'd want to be on the side of airing on the side of caution. That's right. Yeah, she was very blunt. That was a direct quote, you will die. You will die. I mean, apparently she meant if you're in one of the eight, like I guess in Tampa, they have zones, A, B, C, D, and E and F.
Starting point is 00:11:05 And like each zone is your greater risk of floods. And she was basically like, if you're in A and B, you will die. My goodness. If you're in C and D, I'd get out. And E&F, I'd still get out. But, so, I mean, like, it's got to, they show, they think it could be 15 feet of water in Tampa. 15 feet. Think about that.
Starting point is 00:11:28 That storm surge. That's what's going to, they do a lot of the damage. And so that's why you have to get out of it. Where are you going to go? Yeah. So, good luck to everyone who's there. And if you have stuff there, that it ends up okay. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:11:40 John. John, go ahead, John. Hey, Matt. What's up? Good to talk to you all again. since you're guilty, I just wanted to thank you for running Cald-Perry off. And an honor I might even vote for a Democrat magistrate. I feel like a Democrat can be a magistrate.
Starting point is 00:12:03 I don't even know what magistrates do. So I feel like if there's anybody, we're qualified for that. I don't even know what it is. I don't either. But anyway, I know you get a lot of, you know, people on Twitter giving you a hard time what or sometime. You have to block them. Would you block like a,
Starting point is 00:12:22 would you block like a Louisville fan just for trolling you and just saying typical? I block people who are, I block people who are mean, like personal. If you get personal with me, it's like a one shot, you're out. So,
Starting point is 00:12:36 um, and I saw that December 1st, Elon Musk is ending all blocks. I think that's so irresponsible because, you know, I mean, maybe he doesn't have any, like feeling at all
Starting point is 00:12:49 but like people are awful some people most people are wonderful so but yes if somebody because who's got time for it I mean like my thing is when people say why do you get why do you blot people if somebody just walked outside your house and started cussing at you
Starting point is 00:13:05 would you just be like hey man nice having you around no you'd say I'm just talking about a rivalry kind of thing no I mean I won't know if a Louisville fan just writes me and says Kentucky Stinks, no, I will not block them. If they say Kentucky Sinks and you're a horrible person and blah, blah, blah, then yes, I will block them.
Starting point is 00:13:26 I got blocked by the Louisville guy for saying SMU bullied, bully balled Louisville. A little brother, I would not block somebody for that. But I appreciate the call. But again, you know, everybody's got different standards. But like nobody, why would anyone sit and listen to people just being awful to you? I block people when they're awful to you guys. If they're awful to any of us, I'm blocking them. You're out of your way to just block them.
Starting point is 00:13:52 You block people just for like looking at your wrong. That's right. Yeah. Which is hard to do on social media. You get on social media for enjoyment and pleasure and not going to, you know, feel this nasty, nasty filth that's on there. The only time I ever, like, had some sympathy for Matt Bevin was when he went to court saying I should be able to block people
Starting point is 00:14:11 and the court said, no, you can't. I kind of thought he should be able to, like, just being the government. It doesn't mean you have to sit there and listen to people, you know, just tell you're a horrible human being on some level like, why do you have to do that? I'm confused, though. I'm blocked by some people that I don't follow and never tweeted. That one always throws me off. You just end up in someone's profile and you're like, wait, I'm blocked? You know who blocked me that I don't even know would have even known I existed and I've never tweeted?
Starting point is 00:14:39 Do you know who Haralabob is? I don't think so. I don't know who that is? Haralabob. There's a guy named Haralabob. He, like, used to go on Bill Simmons show, and he, like, made a lot of money, sports gambling, and then he worked for the Mavericks. And now, like, all these tech guys, he thinks he knows everything about the world. And I heard he had said something.
Starting point is 00:14:59 I went to look, and he blocked me, and it was really confusing. I'm like, I've never spoken to you. How could you even know who I was? You know what I just realized? What? Rosie O'Donnell won't be blocking me anymore. I'm coming for you, Rosie, look out. That's right. So see, Shannon's an example of why we have to block people.
Starting point is 00:15:20 I never even tweeted or ever. Who's up next? Jackie. Jackie, go ahead, Jackie. Hey, you were talking about Cal getting back into Good Graces someday. And you're right that, like, him and Pope are never going to get into it. But I'm pretty sure Rick wants that Roy Williams, coach emeritus, come sit in the stand spot. Yeah. And
Starting point is 00:15:44 Rick needs to, first of all, I agree he wants that, but he also needs to slow down. We're not there yet. Like, he's not Joe B. Hall,
Starting point is 00:15:51 Rick yet. I mean, it's like, come in here and not get booed. It's not, you're not Joe B. yet, you know. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:15:57 they've got work to do. But if he gets it, if he gets into that spot, there's only room in that spot for one. You're exactly right. No. Rupparina is not big enough for Cal and Patino back is the honorary guy.
Starting point is 00:16:09 You're exactly right. They'll be one for a while. And that was Cal's spot. with that lifetime contract, but then everything changed, and as soon as it changed, Rick was all over it. You're exactly right. I mean, that's a great point. I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:16:22 The moment the lifetime contract went out, Rick was like, oh, I can be the next old man to sit in the stands. He did kind of play his hand pretty well, didn't he? Helped, you know, get Pope, the fan feeling about Pope. He kind of helped us that with that video and kind of now been saying really some nice things about Kentucky, so he's played his hand pretty well. He knows what he's doing. He sees an opportunity.
Starting point is 00:16:43 He's jumping on it. Jason said, magistrates do one thing, and that's get you gravel. And some of them go to prison for it. That is true. They just get gravel? That's all they do. Honestly, in Eastern Kentucky, if you're from Eastern Kentucky, you know I'm right about this. The gravel may be the biggest cause of grift in Eastern Kentucky is who gets gravel and who doesn't?
Starting point is 00:17:07 people in the 13th through 16th region know that the fight for gravel is ultimately what most magistrate races go come down to this is bringing up a KSR memory of what's the uh speak your piece you'd read them yes one of them was about gravel no speak your piece in whitesburg every edition had a gravel complaint they'll be like you want to know who's paying off the politicians look and see who gets the gravel I believe it Totally 100% believe it. It's gold around there. Tell me about Stocktonmore. Oh, I got those new copy points.
Starting point is 00:17:43 The same thing that you should have every show because we know this is going to come up. Here we go. Number one, I've got 18 copy points. I'll just give you just number one. Just go to number six. You want number six? Yeah, let's focus on number six. All right.
Starting point is 00:17:55 Number six. Spooky season is just around the corner. Okay. But buying a home doesn't have to be scary. Our friend is Stockton are here to reassure you. I should have picked four. I want 12. before he gets to it.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Well, we're going to hear from Chad. Just as Chad, who said of his experience, is a quote. Everyone tells you all the horror stories of buying a home for the first time. That couldn't be further from the truth when it comes to Stockton Mortgage. They have truly gone above and beyond to make this process as easy and effortless as possible. So let them show you how real professionals do it. Stockton Mortgage, an MLS, 8259, Equal Housing Lender. Don't say spooky again.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Spooky. See, that's so creepy. The only person who could make that sound creepy. We'll be right back, KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
Starting point is 00:18:47 That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear.
Starting point is 00:19:02 The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. SportsSlice brings you closer to the action
Starting point is 00:19:17 with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to Sports Slice on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Sliced Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano,
Starting point is 00:19:32 and our podcast Point Game is a very about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
Starting point is 00:19:49 I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. Then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Starting point is 00:20:13 Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. everyone, it's Ryder Strong and Will Fidel from Pod Meets World. And now the Podmeets Twirled podcast. We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, who now have covered Dancing with the
Starting point is 00:20:48 Stars, traitors, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor. So yeah, now we're experts. I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge. That is the point of the show. I'm just going to remind you. I have watched some Survivor. I obviously haven't watched enough. Did people? not like it like what was yeah just because we yeah we'll be recapping the big conclusion at the 50th season from the final attempts at gameplay to the desperate pleas of finalists to a bunch of ha who again we are experts so make sure to tune into pod meets twirled for all our survivor 50 takes listen to pod meets twirled on the iHeart radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your
Starting point is 00:21:31 podcasts what's up guys this is clivert taylor the fourth and on my podcast the clivert show I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Help! Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than that. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast,
Starting point is 00:22:28 Hope from a Hippocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Syke, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice.
Starting point is 00:22:52 One ring is too scary. Oh, cream a chicken suit. Hey, cream. Cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrat as part of the Mike Cultura podcast network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back.
Starting point is 00:23:14 Takey Sports Radio. 859-28027. Text machine 772-7-7-4-5-254. One person writes, Good Lord. Matt's take-on concerts is terrible. I go to a concert to have fun, not have a nerd.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Tell me how to act. That's not very nice. I'm blocking that person. That's not very nice at all. I'm not telling you how to act. These are rules that should be followed by society. It's not my personal rule. I mean, nobody wants to hear you sing.
Starting point is 00:23:42 No one. I mean, if unless you yourself, like, if I go to a concert and Tyler Childers is standing in front of me, sing, my man. Yeah. But like, Brett from Herodzburg, no. That's not why we're there. Again, loud songs, that's different because I can't hear you. But the soft ones that gets to me, Drew, I'm not going to lie. I thought the talking was much worse tonight than last night than the singing.
Starting point is 00:24:09 I can get with you on that rule. My friends get mad at me because I'm big on the no talking. I remember we went to a concert. We saw suitcase junket up in Newport. And it was opening day. And my friends had all been drinking. And during the concert, I shushed them twice. And they're like, how are you going to shush me at a concert?
Starting point is 00:24:30 And I said, well, he's singing an emotional song. And you're talking about who's getting the next round of drink. And they still make fun of me for that. If they hear music, everybody like, shut up. My music's on. Matt wants to hear it. I didn't know you were a shusher in concerts. That changes things.
Starting point is 00:24:44 Well, they were my friends. I wouldn't shush a stranger, but I was. Especially in the situation last night where you're, you know, we're in kind of like an, you know, an intimate area. And it's not very many people there. You know, you can hear people talking. Did you see, did you watch anybody see Kenny Brooks yesterday, the women's coach, by the way? What a likable dude.
Starting point is 00:25:01 I mean, I, he might be my, like, one of the most likable people I've ever seen. You talk about a guy who loves being here. I mean, the gratitude coming out of his, and I liked his honesty. He's like, I don't know how good we are. He was like, we're going to be good. He was like, I don't know what it's going to be like, but, and then he talked about, and he gave, like, honest assessments of his players, and I don't even know his players, but, like, he gave, like, I just, I'm going to be pulling for that guy.
Starting point is 00:25:35 Like, I really, I'm definitely, I, I, I, I, I, I'd never met him. I talked to him before his press conference. He was like, I want you coming to one of the early games. I said, I'll be there for the, I'm going to at least go to the Louisville game early in the year. But I liked him a lot. And I think they could potentially start their front line, 6-7, 6-5, 6-4. He told me he has a lineup. He has a lineup that is 6-3, 6-3-5, 6-4, 6-7-67.
Starting point is 00:26:05 That's crazy. Which that would be like a decent-sized college minors. It would. Yes, it would. Yes, it would. He has some talent already that you haven't seen come through there in a while. And I actually think it's kind of unfortunate that Pope gets so much attention because if this offseason was just the Brooks hire, there'd be so much more of him too.
Starting point is 00:26:26 You're right. It's a lot of the things with Pope, just the appreciation and excitement around him. It helps having that new building, too. That just adds to everything with that women's team. Very excited about it. I was happy yesterday. You know, I tried to seem, Ryan, cultural. with the player.
Starting point is 00:26:40 So I tried to talk Estonia with Kerr, Kreeza. You know, I was like, I was up there next to you and bur, blah, blah, blah, blah. And then, you know, I kind of ran out of Estonia facts. And then the girl on the women's team, she's from Portugal. And I was like, oh, I was in Porto. I had a Francesca sandwich.
Starting point is 00:26:57 And she was like, did you like it? And I didn't want to go, no, it was terrible, which it was. I just went, yeah, it's very unique. You know, we talked about the Harry Potter bookstore. And like, you know, I just felt like, Just relating to people, Drew Ryan. I do want to ask you one more thing about Media Day. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:13 You posted about Roscoe. I don't want to talk about it. First of all, Roscoe was awesome. I met Roscoe was a little kid. He was great. He was awesome. I got frustrated by, as always, adults get in the way. But Roscoe was awesome.
Starting point is 00:27:26 He seemed like he was awesome. I'm sure you'll see more of the content. This little kid, he went around and he interviewed the players, and it was really funny. He asked Pope's first question, too. Did he? I didn't know that. let off the press card. But adults, adults always getting away.
Starting point is 00:27:40 I'll just leave it to that. Who's next? Johnny Versace. Johnny Versace. Go ahead. Yeah, Matt. I really, really, really like Mark Pope. I'm really excited about what he's doing.
Starting point is 00:27:52 But the one downside, and I knew it was coming, is it's going to bring Rick back in here. And I don't know. You see, you never Johnny liked Rick. So are you in the Marsha category? I liked Rick when he was here, but I don't. I really didn't like the way he talked to the fans a lot of times. And I felt like he really didn't value the history of Kentucky. It started with Rick Petino.
Starting point is 00:28:18 Okay. For me, you know, I had no problem with him leaving and going to the Celtics, but he could have took a number of jobs. He took Louisville for the sole purpose of people forgetting about how terrible he was at the Boston Celtics. I totally agree with that. I'm with you on everything. I guess the question then would be, Johnny, do you not have it in your heart to forgive? I mean, yeah, I mean, I forgive him, but at the same time, I much prefer him being associated with Louisville now.
Starting point is 00:28:55 He's their coach. They can have him. He's got his tattoo, and he did everything that he did there and knew about it. So let's say, Johnny, you're sitting in the, you're sitting in Rupp Arena. or you're sitting in Krogerfield, they walk in and they go, ladies and gentlemen, his return, 1996 National Championship Coach Rick Patino, what are you doing? Booying and talking about strippers and prostitutes.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Okay, so you're not only booing, you're heckling. That's right. Okay, all right, fair enough. I appreciate the call. Like, he's being honest. He's not only not clapping, he is booing and he's heckling. There are people like Johnny and like Marcia that are going to not be easily swayed. Well, that's my point why I don't think we should rush to honor him.
Starting point is 00:29:47 If there's going to be booing, we'll get to it eventually. I mean, the 30-year reunion of the title is just a couple years away. We don't have to do it the moment Mark Pope gets the job. You got to love Johnny. I'm not only booing, I'm yelling about strippers and prostitution. That might trigger another middle finger. Be careful. That's, yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:06 That's a good way to get our second middle finger. from Petino at a UK game as if that ended up If he doubled down with another finger, I think I would just have to say. So, what's your prediction at the game? Is he going to, they're going to, do they introduce him at all? I say yes with Pope. You think they introduce him with Pope? He's got a little cushion.
Starting point is 00:30:26 What do you think? I think Pope and maybe even some of the 96 guys. Yeah, I think it's a group thing. Yeah. That's the smart way to do it. That's way to tiptoe into it. The smart way, that's like, not about him. It's about them.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Yeah, that's like putting the foot in. You're not doing the whole cold. Clunch. You're kind of doing, yeah, I got you. We'll take a break. 859-2802-807. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio, here at the KS Bar and Grill. So Friday, and we're going to work to play the 96 game all day. We're doing the remote at Kentucky branded.
Starting point is 00:31:06 Then we're going to maybe hopefully loop the 96th. title game all day leading into Big Blue Madness that night. That is so cool. I mean, that was just, you know, what's the first thing you think of when you think of that game? I personally think of Tony Delk hitting the three and getting foul. That's what I think of. That's the signature moment from that game. He gets fouled in the corner, and Jeff Shepard and all the guys are, like, pounding
Starting point is 00:31:28 on his chest as he's out. That's an interesting question. I'll give you, I'll give you some big-time games. You tell me the moment that sticks out to you. the Kentucky moment, all right, the Kentucky moment. 92 Duke. Sean Woods is. Is it Sean Woods?
Starting point is 00:31:46 That's what I thought of. Yeah, I think it's probably Sean Woods. 98 title game. Who is the title game? Jeff Shepherd running and getting the dunk. Breakaway dunk. That's when we kind of knew we're going to win this thing. When I think of that team and the title, I still think of Paget and Duke, even though
Starting point is 00:32:03 that's not the championship game. No, no, no. That is my image. I actually have a lot of images from the 98 Duke game. You've got the Paget 3. You've got the Mills 3 with McGlore hitting everybody with the towel and running on the sideline, right? Those are a few. And then, of course, Tubby jumping at the end.
Starting point is 00:32:25 All right, what about 2012? What's the moment of that? When you said that, the first thing I thought it was Anthony Davis who blocked that shot from behind. Mine is him going, this is my state against Louisville, which I know is not the title game, but I think that's when he's pointing and he's, actually, we're going to say he said state. He might have said a different S word, but I always like to say that he said the state. Dron Lamb, I mean, I don't know who these guys you're talking about. Dron Lamb was the star of that game.
Starting point is 00:32:54 Yeah. My MVP. If I said the 2015 season, what's the one you remember? Oh, my goodness. how much time you got. The beatdown that occurred in Chicago against UCLA came to mind first. That was great. I kind of think of Carl hitting the fade away against Notre Dame in the Elite 8 that kind of sealed that game.
Starting point is 00:33:18 Wish we would have done those a little more against Wisconsin. Yeah. So if I say, all right, give me the five best images. We've talked a lot of sort of negative Cal last two days. Five best images of the Cal era. What are they? I think you've got to have Anthony Davis probably blocking the shot or something national-time. When they mess up his hair.
Starting point is 00:33:41 That's my answer. When they mess up his hair on the 2012 national championship. I'm going to say John Wall crossing them over and Duncan against North Carolina. Or just Wall doing his dance. Or while doing the dance is a really good one. I'll say Aaron Harrison just I'm going to montage all those threes into sort of an image. This is taking me to a great place. DeMarcus cousins, call me.
Starting point is 00:34:06 DeMarco. Well, I was going to say DeMarcus cousins and John Wall at the SEC tournament. Yeah. I think that's one of those kind of really off. Brandon Knight's little jumper against Ohio State. And popping the jersey. And pop in the jersey. Yep, that's really good.
Starting point is 00:34:22 Fox against Ball. Fox against Lonzo Ball in Memphis. Eulis bleeding at Louisville. That's a good one. That's a really good one. Ulyss bleeding at Louisville. I like that one a lot. We haven't said any from like the last five years.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Antonio Reeves at Arkansas. Two years ago when Antonio Reeves just would not miss when we just ran them out in Arkansas. Willie dunking at Florida. Oh, Will. That's a good one. Or Willie making that guy from Cincinnati quit basketball in the incidentally tournament. Willie Duncan at Florida on that guy's head is. And Rock Oliver's celebration.
Starting point is 00:35:04 And Rock Oliver going, we saw Rock Oliver at Media Day, and I said to Drew, Rock Oliver will be the last thing standing in Lexington. Like, Rock Oliver will be, he will outlive us all, and he will be working at UK until the end of time. Generations have stories of Rock Oliver. Think about this. He has survived not only multiple coaches, he's been in two sports. He's done football and basketball.
Starting point is 00:35:37 And it aged a day in 30 years. It looks exactly the same. The first time I saw him in the early 90s. So those are all good memories. Who's next? Nick. Nick, go ahead, Nick. This isn't why I called, but what about, wasn't there a game where, like, West Virginia
Starting point is 00:35:52 was talking a bunch of smack four? That was, that was 2015 in the tournament. I have two really good West Virginia memories. The way we beat them down the tournament. And then Kevin Knox hitting that three to beat them down in Morgantown. was uh those that that was we were there that was an awesome awesome comeback on the road oh yeah that was great i i do have something random as can be it's good for the show and everything and ron if you will allow me over the last couple of years every time you've got tongue tied and said a
Starting point is 00:36:22 quote a little off i wrote it down in my notes app you're okay with this and i'll tell you what i can't we can't read them all give me two or three of your favorites uh okay two three of my favorite uh jim host is on top of the triangle. Jim host is on top of the triangle. That would not be comfortable. Okay. All right. What else?
Starting point is 00:36:45 You can't tell people to not die. Well, that's true. How do they get second? You know what? I remember you saying that. You were talking about what are you do on the homeless person's Supreme Court case? And you said you can't tell people to not die, which is true. That's exactly right.
Starting point is 00:37:06 Yeah. A really good one on the same lines is, when God pulls your trigger, yeah. Again, I think that speaks for itself. Listen, I think we have a coffee table book in the works here. You know what, sir? You have, like, that's gold. Writing down Ryan quotes,
Starting point is 00:37:24 when God pulls your trigger, yeah. That's a great Ryan Livencote. That could be a shirt. Thank you. All right, I appreciate it, sir. Thank you very much. I know this was not on your bingo card to what we're going to talk about,
Starting point is 00:37:39 but I bet a lot of you didn't know hockey started last night. Missed that, really. I'm sure that didn't get on everyone's radar, but the NHL season has started, and one of the things I always like to do is we pick who's going to be in the Stanley Cup. Oh, here we go. It's always a good battle.
Starting point is 00:37:56 We're usually not close to correct. Shannon, who's going to be in the Stanley Cup finals? First of all, why do you think I didn't go to the concert last night? I was sitting home watching hockey. You were watching the opening the Stanley Cup? I got you. I'm going to go with the Panthers. Panthers, they won it last year, so that's a good call.
Starting point is 00:38:14 And the Vegas Golden Knights. Not bad. Those two teams have been very good in the last few years. What about you, Drew? There's no one who knows less about the NHL than me, but I'm very confident that the Detroit Red Wings will meet. I'm not even sure what conference these people are in. St. Louis Blues.
Starting point is 00:38:35 I think they're both in the West. In that case, they will meet in the conference championship to move on to face. The Red Wings are in the Eastern Conference. Oh, the Red Wings are in the East. See, how's wrong. The Blue's are in the Western. But aren't the Blues like one of the worst teams? Were.
Starting point is 00:38:51 Past tense. They won. Everybody is 0-1-0. They're on a one-game winning streak. Oh, I was going to say that. There you go. They beat a team last night. You got Detroit St. Louis.
Starting point is 00:38:59 That would be quite a matchup. Two close teams. Ryan, you're always good at this. Well, because I picked Tampa Bay every, so my parents used to live there. I picked Tampa Bay every year, and they've been really good. So I'm going to pick Tampa Bay, but I don't know if the right conference. Are the Predators? They're in the West.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Okay, I'm on Tampa Bay Predators. Tampa Bay Predators. All right, I'm going to go with the Carolina Hurricanes. Of course. Got some new players this year. Might not be quite as good, but we're going to be ready for the playoffs. Still got Ajo? We do have Ajo.
Starting point is 00:39:25 We got Zvichnikov. We got rid of some people. We got rid of Brady Shay and some of those. But I got some new guys, some young guys. we're going to take on in the files we're going to take on the Colorado Avalage. Okay. That's what's going to happen. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:39:38 Let's go to Michael. Michael, go ahead, Michael. Hey, appreciate your guys' show. I got a question. I'm driving down next week from Indiana, and I was wanting to see if you're going to be at the bar on Tuesday for your live show. Let me see. I think yes.
Starting point is 00:39:57 We will probably, again, we don't always know. Mario puts the schedule out Sunday. but I think right now we will be here Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday next week. I know Monday I have to be in Louis, so it will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. So the show starts at 10 and you can come in at 11. Yes. We don't open the service until 11, but you can come in at 10. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:40:19 I'm looking forward to meeting Ryan again. I do have one thing. You're talking about Coach Patino and some of his past teams. One of my favorite games was, I believe, was in 1995. the SEC tournament against Arkansas. We were down, what, 18 points in the first half. We were down nine points in overtime, came back and won Antoine Walker with the shimmy. That was just a great game.
Starting point is 00:40:46 That was in Memphis. Yeah, it's a great game. Were you there with your grandpa? Appreciate the call. No, that was right after he passed. So I think that was the first one I missed. You mentioned one the other day, was it the 92 when you went? Was that when in Birmingham?
Starting point is 00:41:01 92 was in Birmingham. People talked about how that was such a great tournament. It was in Birmingham. That 92 tournament, I've said that many times. I think it's the best SEC tournament of all times. Other people have said that. You had Tennessee and LSU getting a fight. Shaquille O'Neal.
Starting point is 00:41:15 Dale Brown punches Carlos Groves or tries to in the quarterfinals. Kentucky, it was Kentucky and Tennessee, I believe, in the quarter or in the semis. Then Alabama and Arkansas played in the semifinals, I think. it may be the best game I've ever seen. Arkansas had Todd Day, Lee Mayberry, and Oliver Miller, and Alabama had James Hollywood, Robinson, LaTrell, Sprewell, and Robert Ory.
Starting point is 00:41:43 All those dudes were on the same court, and McDyce, I think, all on the same court. Wow. And I think those two teams, if I'm correct, like went into overtime and wore each other out, Alabama won, and then I think Kentucky beat Alabama in the finals. In the finals.
Starting point is 00:42:00 Yeah, I think that's, I think I'm right about that. But what are your recent? And you remember the LSU team that year had Shaq and Chris Jackson and Stanley Roberts. So that, I mean, when is the SEC ever had more talent than that? Yeah, they had a national championship team right there in LSU with those three guys. Yeah, and they ended up, and they lost, I think, in the quarterfinals because Shaq got in a fight. Yeah. So anyway, hey, you wouldn't buy tickets to a big game and then not go.
Starting point is 00:42:26 So why pay for your health benefits and not use them? Court physical therapy lets you know if you met your deductible this year, you can come get physical therapy with your health insurance benefits until they reset January 1st. So go to court.com. That's K-O-R-T dot com. Experience the best in rehab with court. We'll take a break and come back. Final segment. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
Starting point is 00:43:51 And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reed. I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nasree. He has to guard Julius Randall.
Starting point is 00:44:16 And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night bases on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball like,
Starting point is 00:44:31 after you go through a training camp with that I said, you figure it out real quick. Oh, yeah. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, everyone, it's Ryder Strong and Will Ferrell
Starting point is 00:44:52 from PodMeets World. And now the Pod Meets Twirled podcast. We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, who now have covered Dancing with the Stars, Traders, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor. So yeah, now we're experts.
Starting point is 00:45:07 I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge. That is the point of the show. I'm just going to remind you. I have watched some Survivor. I obviously haven't watched enough. Did people not like it? Like what was just because we? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:23 We'll be recapping the big conclusion at the 50th season from the final attempts at gameplay to the desperate pleas of finalists to a bunch of, ha, who. Ha, ha, who. Again, we are experts. So make sure to tune into Pod Meets Twirled for all our Survivor 50 takes. Listen to PodMeets Twirled on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, guys? This is Clever Taylor the 4th.
Starting point is 00:45:47 And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to wave at her. What?
Starting point is 00:46:11 Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of communication. This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown and explore the journey of healing, self-discovery, and returning to yourself. We explore higher consciousness, emotional well-being, and the practices that help you find
Starting point is 00:46:51 clarity, peace, and self-mastery in a world that can feel overwhelming. The world is becoming lonelier. We're not becoming more social and connected. We're becoming more individualized. but we actually meet people in connection. If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you to hear more.
Starting point is 00:47:14 Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back, final segment, Techie Sports Radio here live at KS Bar, dollar wings all day. You can also, actually, the dollar wings are only.
Starting point is 00:47:35 here. If you dooredash, you have to pay the regular price. But here, dollar wings all day. So bring your friends or just, you know, come by yourself. It's okay. Good crowd in here with fall break. Yeah, it's fall break, law everywhere. All right. So I'm going to do this commonwealth causes and then also talk about the blue-white thing.
Starting point is 00:47:54 Shannon, are the phone lines clear? No, we've got a few colors. Okay. You want me to get my first finalist tomorrow? I was going to get it today. I'll get it tomorrow. But Commonwealth College, remember, the blue-white game is next Friday. Money is going to Nile.
Starting point is 00:48:11 Clubbblue.com, you can learn a lot more about it. Let me tell you a little bit about the game, okay, because I learned about what's going to happen. Not only is there going to be the blue-white game, it is not going to be on television. So the people who go will be the only people who can see it. So that's kind of unique. But here are the people that win, when you buy tickets,
Starting point is 00:48:33 that holds 6,000 people. 500 people of the 6,000. So one out of 12 are going to be selected for an experience. That experience could mean meet the team pregame. There'll be a group of people that are selected to meet the team pregame. There'll be a group of people who are selected to meet the coaches pregame. There's going to be a group of people who get to do stuff out on the court. but if you buy a ticket,
Starting point is 00:49:03 500 of the tickets will be selected and you'll get noticed, I think, the day before you have been selected for this. And then there will be stuff that goes on during it. But that means basically you have like a, well, if it sells out, you have like a one in 10 chance basically to do it.
Starting point is 00:49:24 So you're going to buy, people are going to buy these and all of a sudden get an experience. Now, the one I give away on this show, Joe, I'm going to give away two tickets to the game, and here's what the people that the KSR will receive. One of you listeners is going to receive this. Two center court lower level tickets. You get to go to the pregame team meet and greet.
Starting point is 00:49:49 You get to go to the pregame practice walk through in the Joe Craft Gym. You get to do an intro with one of the players. and be the secret handshake. Yeah, I like that. You get Lodge Club access during the game, and you get to be an assistant coach for one of the quarters of the games. That's insane. Wow. How about that?
Starting point is 00:50:15 That's a heck of a package. So somebody here is going to win all that. Now, is that worth more than the trip to the Bahamas? I don't know. It depends because you can't buy this. That's true. Right? So, here's what I'm going to do.
Starting point is 00:50:28 I was going to start today, but I'll wait and start tomorrow. I'm going to get six finalists every day, who then will have a final playoff for the ultimate UK fan experience. Nice. We'll pick some of them on the radio. I'm going to pick one at Friday at Kentucky branded from the people who come to that, and it should be exciting. I mean, you're going to get to do more stuff than we've ever done as part of it. I could use some extra assistant coaches a year ago. You could do some film study.
Starting point is 00:50:59 It would have been nice to have them. them last year. Jokes aside, that is really cool. It's very cool. Not even just the content, just giving fans allowing them to be a part of it. I know you can't have all 6,000 do something, but getting 500 people an experience. That's crazy. So we'll do it on the radio.
Starting point is 00:51:15 I'll probably give one on my social media. Maybe on the TikTok or Twitter is a hassle. So it'll probably be Instagram or TikTok. KY Sports Radio and on TikTok I'm Matt Jones KSR. So anyway, and then we'll get the finalist. Thursday we'll have the contest and then somebody will get to do all this stuff and Mario will film you and your person getting to do all of it. That's a heck of a package. Like even just the first one, you get to meet the team.
Starting point is 00:51:42 Oh, that's awesome. Oh, but there's more. You get to meet the team. Oh, but there's more. But there's more. That's right. Who's up next, Shannon? Keith.
Starting point is 00:51:49 Keith. Keith. Keith, go ahead, Keith. Matt, first time, long time. Who are? All right. I need advice from you and Drew for a friend of mine because I know you guys can help me with your expertise. he placed a $50 bet
Starting point is 00:52:01 earlier in the year on the Celtics to win the NBA finals for the Panthers to win the Stanley Cup for the Yankees to win the World Series. If it all hits, it's $22,000 on that $50 bet. The Panthers and the Celtics have already won. The Celtics won and so did the Panthers.
Starting point is 00:52:20 So basically, you're saying he has $50 to win $22,000 he gets $22,000 if the Yankees win the World Series, right? Yes, but he's starting to get asked for a payout of like 4,200 right now. Do not. Too low. Too low.
Starting point is 00:52:36 Don't take the 4200. Here's what I would do, okay? I would place a small wager on the Royals to win that series, okay? Okay. And I would do that again as the Yankees move on. But if you do that, I think you can make it to where you win more than the 4th. thousand dollars now you know some people drew's one of these dudes he likes to let it ride this i mean there's circumstances where i mean it's pretty well i would do one one right now
Starting point is 00:53:10 series one one what i would do is i would say like you're going to get decent odds on the royals now to win the series what and i would say take like five thousand bucks maybe put it on the royals i'd do the same thing the next round and maybe the same thing the next round and you know that's $3,000 you at least win something and then if he wins the whole thing he's lost he's you know he's won 19,000 instead of 22 that's what I do okay awesome man thank you for the help appreciate it what would you do I'm bad with knowing the Yankees chances I knowing me I'd probably let it go another round of baseball because there's still three rounds left yeah the thing is baseball so random no you know I mean like
