Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
A rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What? Where's he at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season.
And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments.
If we didn't talk ever again, I was harmed.
You just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven, Marquis come until he's like, you know, I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.
So listen to Point Game on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, everyone, it's Ryder Strong and Wilfredel from PodMeets World.
And now the Pod Meets Twirled podcast.
We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor.
I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of surveillance.
survivor knowledge.
That is the point of the show.

Welcome, everyone, Kentucky Sports Radio Thursday, October the 10th.
I can't believe it's October the 10th.
I'm Matt Jones here at the KS Bar and Grill in Lexington, Kentucky,
where I'm eager.
We've hit a lot of topics here
in the last few days,
and I'd like to hear if you have a take on them,
whether it's Petino returning,
is it my fault we ran Cal off?
Are we going to beat Vandy?

A-Vision Autoglass Text Machine is 772-7474
in this edition.
Sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law of us called T.J.
I'll make them pay.
We've got Andy and Casey here.
We've got a guy from Wilmington, North Carolina.
family here from Herodzburg.
Wilmington, North Carolina, unfortunately,
will just make us all think of that loss.
I learned geography basically by who Cal lost to sometimes.
Like, I know you got Evansville and you got Oakland,
and then, oh, yeah, St. Peters is up in New Jersey,
UNC Wilmington.
That's one, I guess, benefit.
It's a great way to start the morning, Matt.
We live in all those experiences,
but it is good to have our friends here
from different parts of the world.
Yes.
You know, how are you doing this morning,
man?
Good.
I want to give a birthday shout at my.
daddy's birthday today. Oh, yeah. Happy birthday to your dad.
83 years old today. Well, that's good. I'm glad to hear that. 83.
83. Good, he moved out of Tampa.
Yeah, a lot of people reached out to me in the last 48 hours. My parents moved out of Tampa
almost two years ago. Your parents are the only people to do the Tampa to Indiana at the
age of in the 80s, which is a move not a lot of people make.
But I couldn't quit watching it last night. I couldn't quit watching the Weather Channel.
Yeah, I saw, I watched Anderson.
Cooper, you know, I mean, it doesn't make sense that we make these people stand out in the thing.
At the same time, I do watch it, you know, and I do go, well, I mean, his hair's getting messed up,
so it's starting to get bad down there.
I mean, look at his hair.
Because the thing is, you know, you don't know where he's even standing.
Like he could be in a wind tunnel or he could be, it's just, but for some reason I do find it
mesmerizing. It is. It's crazy how they'll tell people you have to get out of here.
You could die. Except you, Cameron.
Anderson Cooper. We need you in the middle of it. Anderson Cooper, we need you there.
And then the one guy is the one guy from the Weather Channel still around. Jim Cantorri.
Jim Cantorri. They always try to send him where that's the worst.
He's a terrible actor, by the way. Is he? Oh, yeah. Have you seen him like, oh my gosh,
I can barely stand up and you see two guys just walking along behind him. No problem at all.
Yeah. Yeah. So it's hard to, I guess we'll find
out more today the extent of the damage the
Tropicana Dome's roof fell off.
Like over $3 million without
electricity, I think, right now in Florida?
Yeah, it's a lot.
That's unbelievable.
But have they said, did it end up
worse, better, the same as they thought?
What's the...
Well, it decreased to a category three
and then a category two by the time it got to landfall.
And it went a little south of Tampa.
So Tampa was kind of spared.
But then it went across Sarasota and headed
towards Orlando.
And I think now it's about in Daytona, I think
this morning. But I mean, the damage. I haven't seen a lot of the day. Well, I hope everybody's
okay. I mean, they were saying, I saw that in St. Petersburg, it rained a one in a thousand years
rain. They got five inches of rain in one hour, which seems like a lot. I don't know any way to
process that, except it seems like a lot. Yeah, and it's just crazy seeing everyone like fill their
places with sand and all the links they're having to go to just hope that they'll have something
to come back to.
Ryan said, I didn't know it had been downgraded a little bit.
That could be a positive update.
Yeah.
And the fact that we haven't heard of anything too tragic.
They had tornadoes hit before the hurricane hit.
That was kind of crazy.
Yeah.
Well, I just, I mean, we're going to get more of this stuff.
We, you know, this is where we're headed, I think, unfortunately.
So I will say, I don't know how many of you are all are on the social media,
but it made me sound really old.
How many of you, how many of you are on?
Your own whippersnappers are on that social media.
many of you are on the social media.
But yesterday, when I got on TikTok,
it was all this picture of this dude in a boat in Tampa.
Everybody was calling him Lieutenant Dan,
like he wouldn't leave his boat in Tampa.
And he was kind of this like,
you know, he looked like this older, crazy guy, basically.
And he was like, I'm staying.
And everybody goes, oh, I think you need to go.
And he's like, I'm staying.
And as I watched it, I was kind of mesmerized by it.
But I also was kind of repulsed that they wouldn't leave this man alone.
Like, it was like everybody on the earth was coming up to him and talking.
And he's just trying to sit there.
And it sort of illustrated like the new social media where everyone's a journalist.
You know, there were people driving into Tampa because they thought it would be cool to, like, film themselves in a hurricane.
And I don't know.
I feel like we've lost our way if you're like, you know what?
be like let's go talk to this man on his boat over and over clearly making fun of him and at the
same time let me drive into the storm because it might be good content i don't know drew the whole thing
made me feel like a little awkward yeah uh sadly that's the world we're living in and i'm with you my
social media was nothing but lieutenant dan which as of hours ago popped up he's still good he wrote
it out last night wrote it out he was on his boat the whole time that's what he says huh but he made it through
made it through the night, but it was everywhere.
And it's like this guy's trying to brace for a storm that could kill him.
And you've got random kids run up and poking him and asking him questions.
Yeah, I mean, they were like poking him in the back and going, hey, guy.
You're okay?
I don't know.
I just did.
But at the same time, I'm not going to lie to you.
I wanted to know you gave me an update.
He's okay.
I did want to know.
It's New York Post and NBC News.
So just go, like the other night I was about to go to sleep.
And I was flipping and I saw that.
the real lives of Mormon housewives or whatever it was,
the wild lives of Mormon housewives or whatever it was on.
And, you know, I know in my heart,
there has to be something that's better for me as a human being
than to turn that on.
Right.
Like literally, my favorite book, which is,
well, my two favorite books,
Crime and Punishment and Brothers Karamazov,
but crime and punishment is literally on the nightstand next to my time.
Dave next to my bed.
And I'm thinking because I'm like, I want to read it again.
And it's a new translation.
You know, when you read something like Dostoevsky, you're like, I'm a smarter person now.
And there was crime and punishment.
And on my TV was the real lives of Mormon housewives.
And I know, Drew, that I should pick that book up and turn this television off.
that's an easy moral choice, something that's food for the soul, something that is nerd gummy
clusters for the soul.
And I pick the nerd gummy.
I turn on the Mormon housewives.
I don't know that I've ever been more ashamed of myself than in that moment, but I feel like
that's just like it's like what we are, I guess.
I have that internal struggle occasionally too, you know, I'm not perfect.
I really loved, I enjoyed Chimp Crazy.
Great show.
Yeah.
I learned a lot from that, but sometimes, you know, I'll be on the couch.
and Abby will turn on Love Island.
I'm watching.
I'm like, there's something I could be doing right now that's better than this.
And I choose that.
I choose something that I know is utter garbage.
Or just because.
So anyway, I feel like when I saw those videos of Lieutenant Day,
and I'm like, by watching these, I'm indulging in the worst of society.
Leave this man alone, right?
And but then I'm like, well, did he make it?
I mean, the interest, the stupid shows we shouldn't watch, they just keep making more of them.
Yeah, I know.
I mean, there's going to be whatever it is, it'll be, you know.
I'm waiting on Chip Crazy, too.
All right.
Well, this weekend, we have the more moral and intellectual choice of watching UK football and basketball.
We do.
And that is exciting.
So we got it to where tomorrow from 1 o'clock until 1 o'clock until 7 or 7 or 7.
whatever time it starts. We're going to play the 96 championship game here at KS Bar on loop.
That's good. That's really cool. So you can come in and we'll just, we'll have the 96 to kind of get us
ready for Mark Pope and the thing. Big Blue Madness is going to be exciting. Do you expect a full
house of excitement? I think they will because of just the excitement surrounding Mark Pope coming back.
I mean, there's so much excitement surrounding his program and him right now.
I think they'll have a really big crowd tomorrow night.
Do you expect so, too?
I mean, the last few years it's not been full.
No, it's not.
Is full this time?
I believe so.
You know, they don't use the whole building because they have a stage.
You know, it won't be 20,000 people.
But of the seats that are available, I think, yeah, it'll be mostly full.
Yeah, I do too.
And I think it's going to be a cool Lexington buzz.
Yes.
really from here down of people so i i think that's that's exciting then saturday i think saturday
is going to be a great day just in lexington in general i mean you got keelan i have a feeling
here will be awesome almost all day saturday um i've put in a request put in a request for rick on
the pregame show i didn't get denied
I got to ask some questions about
You know
They didn't say no
They didn't say no
I mean I would guess
It's less than 50%
But they ask questions of someone
Who is seriously considering
Yeah
So I just want to ask you a question
Let's say he walks through that door
At
430 or 445
on Saturday
and he sits right here at this thing.
Hell will freeze over.
What would that be like?
Like just, first of all, what would it be like?
I think in here, people would cheer for him.
Do you agree?
I don't think anybody's going to boo him in this space.
Yeah.
Somebody might try to be cute, you know.
So let's have me ask questions.
If that happens, what do we do?
Mario, are you in charge of telling people to shut up if they scream at him?
I don't know that you have that in you.
He gave a thumbs up.
Well, so here, come here, Mario.
Come here, get on.
I want you to tell me, all right, let's say, let's say Rick Petino is sitting right here, okay?
And someone comes up, and someone is right there at the bar and they're hollering something.
What are you going to say?
We're not doing that.
We're not doing that.
Not here.
Shannon, I think we need a little more force.
Yeah, I mean, you can't just say we're not doing that.
Oh, you can't go pulling people, okay?
Like, just as a just general legal thing, don't pull people unless they're physically aggressive.
I need to hear some more authority in your voice.
Let's try get it.
All right, so I, Ryan's Rick Petino.
I got you.
And I'm going, hey, Rick, he's sitting in an Italian restaurant.
What do you do?
Hey, we're not doing that.
It's a little bit.
Okay.
That was pretty authoritative.
That's pretty authoritative.
Yeah.
All right.
And then are you going to walk up to them?
Yeah.
And say what?
We're not doing that.
We're not having that.
So you have no follower.
Relax.
I like relax.
That's good.
I like relax.
Okay.
All right.
Well, good job.
That's your job.
I can handle that.
I can do that.
So that's the first thing.
Now, what's it going to be like with him sitting there with me and you?
We've made a joke or two.
He'll be fine with Ryan.
He'll be fine with Ryan.
But you and I have been really hard.
You have been meaner than me.
but I have been present for some of the stuff.
I know I'll be polite to you.
Like I will, as my mom taught me, I'll rise to the occasion.
Ryan, you agree with that?
Yeah, yeah, you become a professional.
You could put anyone in the world in that, well, not anyone in the world,
but you could put almost anyone in that seat.
And if Donald Trump came in here, I would be, I would not be.
would debate him, but I would not be rude to him.
I would, so I can do it.
Yes, agreed.
Can you do it?
I like the look of concern in both of your eyes.
Yes, of course.
I mean, if he's being gracious enough to come to KS.
Bar on a game day with his limited time in Lexington to go on a show that has
talked a lot about him, that would be so not, absolutely, I could not be mean to anyone
in that situation.
You have to be respectful, I think, and professional in that much.
moment in this setting you have to be yes it would be odd though oh definitely be
odd it would be very very awkward I mean this man has pinched me before he has
pinched me he has pitched you so but well it could happen let me just say I'm not
say I don't expect it to but I think here's what I think's going to happen I think I'm
going to find out like at noon that day noon or one o'clock I think it's going to and if
it's a yes, it's going to be like, all right, here we go. And, you know, it would be kind of a
turning the page moment, for me at least. I'm not saying for everybody, but I think it would be
one of those, like if you don't listen to this morning show and you turn the football pregame show on
and then he was there, you'd be like, what? There would be accidents.
Yeah. Traffic accidents. In that moment, in this setting, you're going to talk to him about Mark Pope
and about sports football. You're not going to talk to him about Catina Pau and things like that.
No, no, no, I wouldn't bring any of that up. No. None of that would be relevant. This would be about
returning to U.S. Is that banner still up there? I should take that down. It's up in the window.
I had their fake banner up there. We'll take that down. Yeah, don't do that. Yeah, we'll say you need to cover that up if you do. All right, well, we'll see.
859-2-287. The text machine is 772-745-254. I can confirm he's going to be here. I mean, I know he said that, but like, he's coming.
Yeah, he's coming to the football game, and I actually think he may be here before that.
We're going to take a break.
Be right back.
Give us a shout.
Talk about the weekend.

What's up, fam?
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this.
series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like
Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives
us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get to fly. He running up the court,
licking his fingers why he got the ball like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah.
You figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court. And
And you're going to get the boss.

I'm just going to remind you.
I have watched some Survivor.
I obviously haven't watched enough.
Did people not like it?
Yeah.
Just because we...
Yeah.
We'll be recapping the big conclusion

Welcome back, Tegu Sports Radio.
Text Machine 772-774-5254.
One person writes, Matt, if you could get Rip Tino on,
it would be a chance to bond that bridge, so to speak.
Amen.
That's exactly right.
The name of the Facebook page, which I encourage KSR fans,
Join the Bond That Bridge Facebook page.
It's a good way for people to connect.
I go on there, look every day or two, see how the posts are.
So Mario interacts there on there with people.
So it's nice.
One person writes, Matt, I don't think Rick will do it.
But if he did, would it be your favorite KSR moment?
Well, I mean, it depends on how it goes.
But it certainly would be one of the interviews that I was most looking forward to.
I mean, for me, if you sit there and say, all right, Matt, in the UK world, who could you interview that you've never interviewed?
The top three answers are going to all be former coach.
I mean, number one is Rick.
Number two is Billy Clyde.
And in a few years, Cal's going to be on the list, right?
Like, I mean, now there's no way that's going to happen.
But there'll probably be a year someday that that can happen again.
And I would love to have all of those.
I think in terms of likelihood, Billy Clyde's last,
just because I don't know that we'll ever see him here again.
But I would love to do it if he could have like an honest conversation about his time here.
And this is a good setting, a football pregame show.
It's not like a morning show where you could probably get more.
It wouldn't be inquisitive.
It would be like you're going to the football game.
You're a donor now.
Mark Pope.
Like it's going to be, that setting will be the most positive interaction we could have, actually think.
Yeah. Even if he's unable to do Saturday, I think it's going to happen.
He's seasoned this opportunity as much as he can.
I totally agree. I think their question is, I think the question is more do they want to walk in this place with all these fans here.
But I would argue if this place is full of UK fans, he'll get a better reaction here than he even would at the game.
I think so too.
Because I just don't see people being a jerk to him here.
You can be anonymous at the game.
You can be an, it's exactly right.
You can be anonymous at the game.
You don't want Mario staring at you.
Mario is wearing a shirt that says, yes, Jesus loves me.
Do you want to disappoint, yes, Jesus loves me?
I mean, the Bible told me, tells me so, right?
We're not doing that in here, man.
We're not doing that in here.
We still have a big picture of Patino back here with Kaywood in this restaurant.
That's true.
You can sign it.
He can sign the wall.
That would be awesome.
One person writes, I've never heard the story.
of why Petino pinched Drew.
Why don't you tell that?
Well, we were doing our annual Christmas party at Jeff Rubies in Louisville.
I think you might even found out later in the day that the table next to us, by
coincidence, was the Rick Petino party.
Earlier in the day, the manager of the restaurant called me and goes, hey, man, I just wanted
to tell you, Rick Petino's having his Christmas party, and the only place we could put
you all is next to each other.
Yep.
So we had to leave.
he had to actually like get skinny behind me against the wall
and scoot behind my chair to get around our table to exit the building.
And I think I asked for his selfie.
I was like, hey, coach, I get a selfie.
And he politely declined.
And I gave just a little pinch on the old shoulder.
Nothing too crazy.
But I felt an extra pinched you in your nerve.
I felt an extra little grip there.
He pinched you in your nerve.
It's okay.
No person's ever felt more awkward than Paren Johnson.
who was invited to our party and then had his coach at the table next to us,
and he had to try to go back and forth.
And Perry was sitting by me when this happened.
Yeah, that was, that was wild.
All right, who's up first, Shannon?
Adam.
Adam, go ahead, Adam.
I forgot Sean Penn was on Friends.
That's really crazy.
All, go ahead, Adam.
Hey, guys, I think Mario's on to something.
Didn't Andy Beshear make a brand for himself by saying he can't be doing that?
Can't be doing that?
Andy Bashir's brand and now it's Mario's.
I just wanted to say Matt and Drew, say this, oh my gosh, you all have podcast gold.
I mean, between Matt ranting, between Matt ranting about, you know, we need new technology
for stitches and Drew murdering lobsters and talking about lobster genitalia.
Wow.
Well, thank you very.
All, none of those about the process.
Also, that was the first 10 minutes.
It was.
This episode of Fade This, I've had people say you get a different side of my personality on that,
and that may be true.
But I do think this episode is good.
We did it yesterday.
Thank you, though.
I don't know what it did.
Like, Bahamas Matt, Ambien Matt, like, there is a fade this, Matt that is just a different personality.
Well, it's still, I appreciate the call.
It's still a part of my personality.
It's just, it's the part that I, I'm close.
to who I am in private
on that show
probably Ryan
more than any other one
like when I'm just hanging out
with my friends
That's what I was going to say
That's not Radio Mad
That's just Matt
That's Matthew
Well I did make the point
And you all hear
You know I've got these stitches
And I just don't understand
How the technology for stitches
Has not gotten better in 500 years
Like you watch movies
About the Civil War
And they still stitched people
the exact same way we do now.
They still took a needle and thread
and wrapped your arm together.
And it just feels like in 2024,
where we can cure neurological diseases
and discover vaccines for all kinds of things
that they would have improved this
to different than what it is, right?
Yes.
They still, the best thing is like,
take your skin and tie it together like a bow
and then hope it melds back.
working pretty well.
You're going like a drywall system, you know, put a little patch over it and just kind of.
I just feel like it's just, it feels ancient to me that they just take out a needle and thread.
It feels like there has to be something better.
How's your thread looking over there, by the way?
I mean, it's swell up again?
If I had gangrene in the middle ages, I think it would look exactly the same as this.
They glue a lot of cuts together now.
Did they talk to you about maybe gluing it together?
No discussion.
The needle and thread just came out.
They just pulled it together, and that's what it was.
By the way, we are going to, in the second hour, pick our first finalist for that UK basketball experience,
and I'm going to do one on social media tonight, just so you know.
So we're going to get finals.
And the next Thursday we will play off for the actual chance to do all the stuff.
So you can get your tickets for the blue-white game at Club Blue NIL.
It's club blue in aisle.com.
We'll take your calls.
A little UK Vandy.
Kat's now up to a 14-point favorite.
The money keeps going on Kentucky.
I know that may surprise people.
We'll be right back.
KSR.

Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio

Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back.

here at the KS Bar and Grill.
I yesterday,
by the way,
took a look at the top 25,
Ryan,
the preseason top 25 in college basketball.
And I looked at the rosters
because ESPN,
they have his 23rd,
which feels about right.
About right.
I might go a little higher if you look,
but I didn't realize when I looked at the top 10 rosters,
how many players in college basketball
are back this year?
who you would know the names.
Like Alabama's got the Sears kid.
He's back, right?
Like, I don't know that I processed that.
The dude on Carolina, who's been there 50 years is back, the little point guard, right?
R.J. Davis, is that?
Yeah.
He's back.
Kansas.
Kansas has two guys, and again, I forget in their names, but two guys who've been playing
there since they won the national championship.
Oh, goodness.
and Hunter Dickinson is back for them, which is kind of crazy.
The consensus seems to be Kansas or Alabama is number one.
Duke's got three guys starting for them that are projected to go to the top 10 in the draft.
So they basically have an old school Cal team.
I didn't realize how good Gonzaga was supposed to be.
Gonzaga's projected number six in the country.
So that's a game where I don't know if I, Nolan Hickman is still playing college basketball.
I mean, that's a name.
I feel like we recruited him 17 years ago,
and there's still a NIM brand or NIMHARD.
Yeah, look like a good brother.
How many NIMHards do they get to have up there?
So my point is, this is a very, like, experienced college basketball.
And again, this is part of the NIL thing.
There's just going to be a lot of guys who when you're watching games,
you know who they are now.
Tennessee, I know lost a couple of guys, but they got a lot of guys back.
Texas and Texas A&M, I think both have loaded up.
A&M's supposed to be very good.
Wait.
How's Wade Taylor still at A&M?
I mean, I feel like he's been there since Isaac Humphrey slammed the ball.
He's the one when you led your revolt last year.
He scored 32 as a seven seed, knocked us out of the tournament.
He's back.
Johnny Broome at Auburn's back.
Or John I Broome, how do you press it?
The guy from Warhead State, he's back.
There's a lot of familiar names in the SEC especially.
So, yeah, so it's just.
Florida's got a lot of returners.
So I looked at it, and, you know, we,
If you were looking at the top 25 teams, I think we are like still the oldest.
I mean, we're going from the perennial youngest team in America to I think we might be the oldest team in America this year.
But it is going to be a lot more of an experienced college basketball.
I was looking at Cal's Arkansas team.
Do you know what the starting lineup for that team is?
I haven't seen what's projected.
They're projecting DJ Wagner.
By the way, DJ Wagner, who is not in the top 100 NBA draft prospects.
I want you to think about that.
DJ Wagner, not in the top 100 NBA draft prospects.
I actually think he's going to have a good year.
I did too.
But DJ Wagner, boogie flan, adieu, okay, then the guy from Tennessee, what's his name,
A-Doo?
So you have A-Doo and A-Doo, and then they have the one guy that returned from Arkansas.
whose name I forget.
But it's not a starting lineup that you would look at, Drew, and go, that team's going to be great.
But not Big Z?
Big Z's already in a boot.
They do not have Big Z.
Oh, he is.
They tweeted a team photo with Nolan Richardson, and there were three players in boots.
Yeah, so Big Z's not, wasn't even listed in the starting lineup.
I'm with you about DJ Wagner.
I think he's going to have a big year.
Not in the top 100 now.
He'll be in the top 50 maybe by the end of the season.
Yeah.
So also, now, Shannon, you said you have.
secret video
sound of a big
Kentucky moment. Am I right? Yeah, so
last night, Sturgle Simpson played
the Walmart Amphitheater
in Rogers, Arkansas.
Oh, he played the Walmart
amphitheater. Yeah.
That's actually, I mean, Rogers, Arkansas is
actually kind of nice. That's the Walmart
headquarters and all that. So
Sturgel was there. Go ahead. And he's
introducing the band, and while he's
doing that, he used that as an opportunity
to take a shot at Arkansas
All fans, and here's the audio.
Oh, I love this.
Black on the base.
Back here representing them
Go Cats on the drones,
Miles Miller. Don't be
mad. Don't be mad.
You had your chance.
Calipari's gone. Now get ready to get
that ass whoop. You know what's coming.
Oh, tell you.
And I wish I could play what he said
after that. He said, Mark
Pope ain't blanking around.
And then the fans
proceeded to do the
call the hogs chant.
Oh, you've got to send that.
Do me a favor, Shannon.
Send that video to Mario.
Okay.
Will you do that?
Because I want to post that on social media.
Yeah.
Wow.
See,
Sturgle is one of us.
Sturgle in the middle of Arkansas saying go cats and you all had your chance.
Calipari's gone.
Mark Pope ain't blanking around.
Mark Pope ain't blanking around.
In enemy territory.
That's respect right there.
Get them, Sturgeon.
I love that.
Yeah, we definitely got to get that out.
Who's up next, Shannon?
By the way, shout out to Tony Tilford, who sent that to me, T&T.
Thank you, T&T.
Ethan's up next.
Ethan, go ahead, Ethan.
Ethan.
Hey, Matt, how y'all doing?
Doing good.
What's up?
Can you hear me? Yes.
Now we can't hear you.
Ethan, are you on Bluetooth?
Were you on Bluetooth?
I'm hanging up on them, man.
I don't have patience for this.
I don't know.
Like, I get these every day.
I get a text man.
Why, you know, people have to...
We're having so much fun.
All right, who's next?
Mike.
Mike, go ahead, Mike.
Hey, Matt.
First time, long time.
Who are?
What's up?
Hey, no, I was just kind of just wanted to comment kind of on, you know, Rick Patino.
You know, when Mark Pope was hired, I remember that, you know, I'm down in Florida now,
and I've been down here for about four years.
I was, like, bad about the Mark Pope power initially.
I was a call supporter just, it was kind of a fulfilling prophecy to me,
because I kind of said, well, who are we going to get?
And I viewed Mark Pope.
You know, it was a BWAC, you coach.
It was kind of an experience.
But when Rick Petino released that video, it like instantly turned me.
It's amazing.
How old are you, sir?
It shows that to me it shows how much power he still has.
How old are you?
I am 42.
See, I think that's the age.
I think that that age of people, I'm going to say 38 to 50, the Patino support of Pope really mattered to people that age, right?
I mean, I'm not going to say that wasn't what really changed my mind.
My mind was basically changed sort of for two reasons.
One, I heard about what the investment in NIL was going to be, and I think that's such a huge part of how all this will work in the future.
And then two, you know, I was kind of like, well, he's coming, so we might as well support it.
But, Ryan, I think there's a lot of people that when Petino sort of sent that, that was it.
I think because they remember Petino when they were in high school, maybe college,
and that's when Kentucky was dominating everybody.
So, yeah, to hear their former leader come back and say those nice things about his old program,
I think did pulling our heartstrings a little bit, a lot.
I think it did for a whole lot of people.
Thank you.
Appreciate the call.
859-28027.
All right.
So, UK, Vandy, how confident are we feeling Saturday?
More confident I need to be, to be honest.
I have a lot of faith in that defense and how hungry they are now that all the shows are talking
about how good Diego Pobby is and Housman candidate, this and that.
I don't think Vandy was going to sneak up on them anyway without beating Alabama.
But now it's like there's just a target on him.
And with the way Kentucky responds in games like that, I think the defense is really going to show up.
I need the offense to play well for the game to, you know, really go well.
But I'm confident that defense is going to arrive on Saturday.
I mean, if we're going to be real, Kentucky has scored two touchdowns in three SEC games.
In what?
For a 12 quarters, Kentucky has only scored two touchdowns.
So Drew is exactly right.
The offense has to show up.
I think I have no problem with our defense at all.
They'll be able to slow them down.
But our offense has to show up.
He's good, but they've already played Jackson Dart and Carson Beck,
who are two of the best in the country, and those guys look flustered.
So I think they're going to bring it again.
Well, if you go and you look at where we got beat, when we've been beating on defense,
how have we been beaten?
Well, we've been beaten by a wide receiver making a heck of a play.
All right, so the Ole Miss wide receiver, Harris, made some big plays.
You obviously had that fourth down catch with that tight end who got up and made that crazy play.
Vandy doesn't have receivers like that, right?
So you're basically like, can you stop that quarterback?
And, you know, I feel like they forget.
I mean, Brad White's had two weeks now to draw up a game plan.
I mean, we've had two weeks.
They've been preparing for Alabama.
We've had two weeks.
And I know Stoops hasn't been great coming off a buy,
but, you know, the season flipped against Ole Miss.
But it doesn't matter if you lose on Saturday in a lot of ways.
right but if you win on Saturday there is a path I mean if you went on Saturday just the
making a bowl really takes one more win because you're going to beat Murray State so it really
takes one more win so you're like if I'm Mark Stoops I'm in such good such a good place
if you win Saturday and I just don't see them losing that game I do think though it's
going to be I think I mean I would bet on Vandy to cover the spread I I
would say it'll be like a 10. I think we win by like 10, but I do think we're going to win.
Kentucky has struggled in conference games at home also. You know, they've struggled against
Vanderbilt last time. They played them here at home. So, I mean, there are those elements that
throw into it. I'm with you. I think Kentucky will win, but 14 seems like a lot of points at this
moment. But all the money is on Kentucky, which is really strange to me, but it is. If you're
ready for the ultimate tailgate party, set up for a good time at Clark's Pump and Shop, they got beer,

And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us.

And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.

859-2-8-2287. One person writes, Matt, I have a different view about Petino flipping us off.
I don't think he flipped us off. He flipped one fan off who probably was saying something to him.
He shouldn't have done that, but we've taken it as he flipped the whole fan base off. Didn't he just flip
the person off that he was flipping off.
It was more than one person yelling at him as he walked through that tunnel.
Can I tell you that we had a caller on the pre-show yesterday who said he was there at that game,
sitting behind the guy who was yelling at Rick Petino, and all the guy said was 9-0, 9-0.
Okay.
And I guess Petino then flipped the finger.
I think it was to that fan.
I don't think it was to all a big blue nation, but it was to that fan in that moment.
Okay.
So does that matter?
I kind of assume that in the moment.
It's just the image of him walking out in Rupp Arena with a finger.
That's a former coach.
And it was the last time he was there.
Just coincidentally the last time, well, or not, it was the last time he was there.
And I'm not, I feel like I'm getting labeled as just never forgive the guy.
I just don't want to do it this weekend.
Like, this is way too soon.
So you don't think we should have him on?
No, no, I'm talking about honoring Rick and all this celebration of Rick.
Yeah, no, I'm loving him on.
Come here.
I'm saying UK trotting him out.
I'm like, Mark Pope has not even had a big blue madness yet.
We don't have to make...
He'll have had it by Saturday.
That's true.
I think Rick should have his moment.
This is not the first weekend of basketball.
Let Pope have his shine for a little bit.
I mean, we've already...
Everyone's spent a week talking about it already.
What if Mark invited him, though?
Well, Mark already said he called me and said he's coming.
Yeah, that's true.
I guess he did say that.
Yeah.
So I think it should happen in time.
Mine's all about the timing.
I just feel like it's right away.
Let's just run back.
Well, I understand that.
That makes some sense to me.
Yeah, I guess.
get what you're saying. On a different note, before we go to the phone, Drew, this is really
me and you, because we've dealt with him some in our early years. Nadal is retired.
It's tough. And Rafah Nadal and tennis. So I mean, probably all of you know that like
two of the three best, well, probably the three best tennis players of all time have played
like recently. Nadal, Federer, and Jokovic. You could make strong argument. Those are the three
best guys to ever play and they all kind of played towards at the same time. You and I were not,
for people who are new to KSR, Drew and I had a career while covering professional tennis.
Career? Which is, well, I mean, it was side gig. Side hustle. Side gig. We went for two years for the
Tennis Channel. We went to the U.S. Open. We went to Indian Wells. We went to Cincinnati.
And part of what we'd have to do is interview players. And I think it's fair to say, Drew on as a whole,
tennis players were the rudest people.
Oh, absolutely.
I think as a whole,
ruder than basketball, football,
rooted are almost than politicians.
I think that in general,
professional tennis players
were the biggest goobers
of being the biggest
jerks that I've been in in sports.
Do you agree with that? Such like a relaxing sport.
You know, you're there on a nice day. It takes
hours to play. Everybody should be
calm. There felt like there was a
contentious moment at a press conference.
daily at these tournaments.
A lot of them seem like absolute spoiled brats.
I mean, honestly, I think that's just so many of them were spoiled brats.
The women were all for the most part nice, but the men's tennis players were just brats.
With the exception of the two nicest people to me in the two years I did it were Federer and
Nadal, who Djokovic at the time wasn't what he became.
So Federer and Nadal, by far the two biggest players, and by far the two most famous, and by far, somehow we're also the two kindest.
And Nadal especially would talk to us if he saw us.
And I just, I always was amazed that the two guys who should be the biggest jerks in a sport full of jerks were actually the two nicest.
And so I was sad to see the news that he, because Federer's already retired, that Nadal is retiring as well.
I somehow need to dig it up.
I have a selfie with Adal where two of us are in an elevator.
And it's like, why is he alone in an elevator with me?
How did we even get in that space?
But it was just, just like any other person.
He was just very nice.
I kind of went in thinking before we got to the tennis beat and got anywhere near close to these people.
I thought he might be kind of a jerk.
I actually wasn't even a big fan.
I was a big Federer guy.
And Nadal flipped me just kind of being around the atmosphere and watching how he treats everyone.
I will say when you talk about the best sports moments I've attended, we've talked about the UK games, for me, the Masters, the Rider Cup.
You and I, when we snuck into the photo gallery to sit on the court for Federer Nadal in Cincinnati, was one of those for me.
It was just Federer Nadal, and you could almost reach out to them while they were playing each other.
Well, we were reaching out because we were in the photo area, and everyone had those long lenses for, like, Getty images and all these major publications.
and I have fully extended arm with an iPhone 4 just following those cameras.
And we're just like, I don't think they notice us yet.
They somehow let us stay there.
Even other camera people were nice because they knew we weren't supposed to be there.
They were scooting over for us.
Yeah.
Who's up next?
Ryan.
Ryan, go ahead, Ryan.
Hello, I got some thoughts on Petino.
So I grew up in Louisville.
And growing up in Louisville in the 80s as a Kentucky fan was pretty rough.
It was the one decade we didn't win a championship.
We had probation.
And I don't think people, even Drew's age, don't realize the depths that Kentucky basketball was in when Petino took over.
Yeah, I mean, when Petino took over, that first team Rick had was a bunch of kids from Kentucky, Derek Miller, and that's it.
Like, that was the team.
I mean, Reggie Hansen was from Kentucky.
Richie, Feldhouse, Pelfrey,
Sean Woods, we almost adopted.
Who else was on that team?
Jonathan Davis?
Yes.
Good call, Jonathan Davis.
I mean, so you're right, sir.
And he went 14.
We beat Shaq with that team.
That team I just told you beat Shaq and Chris Jackson.
We weren't even on TV.
We weren't, the games weren't even on television.
That's exactly right.
Listening to the radio calls of us against North Carolina or us against LSU and just living and dying with every possession.
And, yeah, so I remember the good times, but you know, a lot but more than bad times later on.
And we dominated him when he went to U of L.
And the fact that he came back to Kentucky as soon as he could, I think we should take that as a compliment.
I appreciate the call.
Good call.
Yeah, that's another thing.
People forget.
We weren't on television.
They wouldn't even let our games be watched.
That's crazy.
Long time ago.
We'll take a break.
Come back.
