Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel

Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
A rep.
My mama want you to wave at her.
What? Where's he at?

This was just basketball.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, here's Matt Jones.
All right, welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, live here at KS. Bar and Grill.
We've just opened the doors for lunch today. Got some folks in here for lunch.
Ryan, Drew, Shannon, and Billy R. Sports.
We thought Matt will be joining us for the second hour,
but like I said, he's getting his wrist checked out by a doctor today.
And sometimes those things take a little time.
They do.
As we just learned, it's near the sapphoid bone.
You want to make sure that it heals correctly.
Did I get that right?
Saffoid bone, because if not, it takes a long time to heal.
That's us talking about wrist injuries.
So one of the people here in the restaurant is our friend Mailman Woody.
Yep.
Mailman Woody brought us dough-dady donuts.
One of my favorites.
He knows how to butter up to it.
And I miss breakfast today.
It's like he knew.
He said something that I think represent a lot of fans.
He's a season ticket holder for football.
He was so mad and upset after the South Carolina game, he's not been back.
I don't think he's alone.
I think there are so many fans that were so upset and disappointed not that they lose that game,
how they played, kind of blew our expectation of the season out of the water there in week two.
because we kept saying all summer.
That's the most important game of the year.
You've got to get South Carolina.
You can't let them beat you three times in a row,
and they came in and did it.
I think he represents still the feeling of a lot of the fans.
Do you agree or not?
I don't think there were a whole lot of Mailman Woody's after South Carolina
because Georgia had a pretty good crowd,
and then Vandy's Saturday had a great crowd.
Yeah.
Now, I think there are going to be a lot of male men,
Woody's, and male women Woody's moving forward.
I'm worried because they've done it twice.
South Carolina, everyone kind of said, all right, you just weren't prepared at home.
It looked bad.
You played George well.
You beat on Miss.
All right, we'll throw that off as a one off.
But then you just turn around and did the exact same thing against Vanderbilt, even worse.
I think it's going to take a hit moving forward with the attendance.
I mean, you play Murray at like 130.
You got a bad Auburn team.
I'm a little worried about how fan support will be then.
It's getting colder.
You'll have basketball going on.
Several factors.
Yeah, I think we heard a couple people call in and say that they were going to sell
their season tickets after the South Carolina game, but then you play Georgia really closely.
You win at Ole Miss.
People say they regret that, and now we're back to where they were.
And it's just been a roller coaster of a year.
So it's tough.
I'm never going to tell anybody how to fan.
I just, I don't see the investments in season tickets anymore.
I'd rather watch it at home most of the time with the TV and the beer in my hand.
That's not $11.
If anybody was going to Texas, though, and they don't want to go now, just reach out to me.
Fima wants to back out on that one.
I'll take your tickets.
I think there were some tickets became available.
yesterday last couple days.
I'm actually glad I waited to search because more have popped up since Saturday.
I'm not happy for the situation we're in, but I wonder if fans will travel like this weekend.
This weekend's good because you get a lot of locals, you know, are Gary and Orlando's.
There's a lot of people in Florida that go to that game no matter of the scenario because they don't get to see Kentucky very often.
But the Texas trip's an expensive one.
If things don't improve, I could see fans say I'm not spending all this money to go watch you lose about 30 to the best team in the country.
And like what he said, he's a season ticket holder.
These season ticket holders, your last 12 home games, you're 2 and 10.
You buy season tickets to go watch your team and watch them succeed
and enjoy your night at the stadium.
That hasn't been happening.
Yeah, well, that's a bigger issue than just this year because this 2 and 10 and 12,
that spans three years, you know.
And as we've heard from the guy that called in Matt's post-game show,
the football crowd's a little bit different.
And not a whole lot of money up there in those bleachers.
People are stretched thin just to go to those games and take their families where they're driving from my end of the state or Matt's into the state.
It's very expensive.
And if you're home games where you're a double-digit favorite, you can't even give them a good time,
then people are going to stop signing up for that experience.
And that's just not just Georgia and Tennessee.
That's Vandy twice.
That's South Carolina twice.
Good point.
These are teams that you thought you had passed as programs, and now you've been relegated and you're losing to them.
So I understand the frustration.
And they had great season tickets support this year.
too.
It was a record, if I'm not mistaken, whether how fast it was or how many I don't remember
exactly.
But the fans did their part going into this year, and they got rewarded with you lose to
South Carolina as a two touchdown favorite and Vandy is a two touchdown favorite.
Like you said, the fan and crowd Saturday night was top notch.
I mean, for a Kentucky home football game, SEC environment, it was as good as we've had
all season.
Yeah, the investment they made in those lights has been really cool.
Yes, it has been.
It's brought out fans being a little more passionate.
There's still sound issues.
It's not perfect.
But just the ability to make it dark in there at night gets people on fire.
And they were so excited for Vandy just to be disappointed and let down.
It was a blackout.
People did well with that.
People did well with that.
I didn't think it would all afternoon.
Downtown, blue and white, in here, blue and white.
I walked about every parking lot they have over there, blue and white.
But it's like they all just had it in the car ready to go and threw it in because inside it looks good.
Boy, you're right.
They were double-digit favorites in both of those games.
Yeah.
That is wild.
And both games, Vandy not as much in South Carolina.
I think a lot of people, I've been wrong a lot this year.
I thought they were going to destroy South Carolina.
I don't think that was me just being a fan.
I think a lot of people thought they were going to destroy South Carolina.
What is the spread already for the Florida game?
Has it come out?
Kentucky was a favorite.
Now they're an underdog, two and a half points.
Two and a half dog right now.
859-2-802-287.
I want to read this from the A-Vision Glass Text Machine.
The tackles are ineffective.
They hold because they have to,
and whiff too often.
Interior offensive linemen, okay, but not great.
Quarterback average at the very best.
O.C., below average, but so were the others.
So who knows?
This is somebody that knows football through and through.
I still can't give a complete grade to Hamden or Vandergriff.
They've moved the ball a lot.
Now, Hamden, like I said, was getting a little funny with putting whims in early.
I don't know what was going on there.
I mean, he hadn't been great.
I mean, when you have four touched.
downs in four SEC games, but a lot of that players have made some critical mistakes.
And Van DeGreve, I still hope there's more that he has in him.
You know, that's a two-year guy.
You like when you guy makes a big jump from year one to year two.
But so far, I wish we've seen a little more.
It's just not scoring.
Yeah.
Look, I get the Transfer Portal age and these kids are going to go to where they have playing time,
but I'm excited for when Cutter Bowley kind of takes the reins.
Maybe not even next year.
You have given them another year to learn the system.
keep progressing because, you know, besides Will Levis, they've gone transfer quarterbacks.
Terry Wilson was successful.
Yeah.
But not all of them are hits with Devin Leary and now Brock Vandergriff up in the air.
So I don't know.
It's kind of been the norm for Kentucky to get a quarterback for, what, one year?
Will Levis was the exception with Wilson?
Yeah, Larry was here for two.
Brock Vandergril you'd think could be here for two.
We love that they do so well in the portal, but I think some of that, you've got to have a little continuity.
You know what I mean?
It's a new quarterback with a new coordinator every year.
the linemen have kind of been thrown together from different programs.
When the big blue wall was the wall, we had a lot of the same names here for a couple of years.
Some born in Kentucky.
It's good that they're going out and getting these guys, but they're not having to retaining a lot offensive.
Well, they didn't recruit offensive linemen when Shlarmine got sick.
I mean, Walt Wells went to E.K.U.
He was doing better.
And then, you know, Woodford came in.
And then he didn't really do a good job.
You got Beron Brown out of it, but you really didn't get offensive linemen recruits.
It just shows how good Shlarman was, too.
That's right.
Because they were the best line in the country.
And had lots of depth.
At each spot on that offensive line, there was depth.
And they had some blue chips, some guys, they pulled out of nowhere and turned into stars.
They did a little bit everything.
I mean, we were really blessed when he was here.
So, you know, a guy who knows offensive line, he said that for last couple of years, you know,
they didn't recruit any depth.
Now they've got, what, one, two, three transfers starting on the offensive line, guys that they didn't recruit here.
And I think we're seeing the detriment of it by not putting more emphasis on maybe.
you getting offensive linemen two years ago, three years ago.
In the line of all positions, you need some guys that have played together.
I mean, you got a lot of the train.
Heck, one of them played at Florida.
You got Gerald Insie from Tennessee.
They just took a lot of guys that were maybe even second string of other schools
and threw them together and we're just seeing why that's not working out very well.
In the SEC, that's the difference.
I mean, between other conferences, it's those big boys up front controlling this line of scrimmage.
And if you don't have that and you don't have the depth to put out the best players out there,
then you're going to see games like South Carolina.
So why?
So weird this year, your boy Dane is like the guy.
I mean, that's good, but we've never had like a tall possession receiver be the guy.
We've had Benny where you just hand it off.
You had Lynn Bowden.
You've had Chris Rodriguez.
Even Wondale, even though his receiver, you just kind of get it to him and let him get yards after catching space.
Dane's like a, you know, that's just a tall, throw it up and let him go get it.
We've never had an offense where a receiver like that is the focal point.
You're right.
It's something different that Brock has, you know, had to go to because.
because I think the rest of the guys haven't been as effective.
And Dane's not a big yard after catch the guy.
I mean, he's catching everything thrown his way,
but we've been so used to just handing it off to a running back in the Stoops era.
Now the best player on offense is a wide receiver.
And I think he expected more from Berion, honestly.
I mean, he was a guy that was maybe one of the best in college football to begin the year,
and it just really hasn't translated.
You know, at the start of the season, they did a lot of those jet sweeps with Barryon,
you know, trying to just get him the ball in open space, and it just didn't work.
He's just not breaking tackles.
I don't know if he doesn't have it in him.
I don't know if he's cutting the wrong direction,
but it seems to be doing a lot of dancing around
and just not getting very far.
And then Stubes said yesterday that he can't return punts full-time
because it's too much of the workload.
I would say, well, you're returning punts today.
I mean, Nick Rausch found he's getting six touches a game.
I don't feel like six touches a game.
Is that big a workload?
They usually put Macklin back there, right, for punts, punt returns?
It's another guy we thought we'd hear a lot of this year.
A lot of it is just not getting time for Vandergriff
to get all his reads and throw the ball
downfield, but that's a, that's a dude.
We said his name a lot in the preseason, and he hasn't, have we heard him since the first week?
Not really, and, you know, something that was perfect before the vandy game was special teams.
I mean, a few years ago that special teams cost Kentucky the game versus Ole Miss, and it was
almost the entire season they had those snapping issues, and you take it for granted.
That was something Stoop said maybe eight times yesterday was you don't think about it when they
do it right a thousand times, but then everybody's up in arms when Wilson Barry fumbles two snaps.
Yeah, the special teams definitely killed him this past weekend with the,
bad snap on the field goal, bad snap on the extra point,
the penalty on Barryon's big return.
We debated this yesterday on the football podcast.
So I'll ask you guys, if they had actually gone the length of the field,
do you go for two or do you see if they can snap and hold it one more time?
Because you had already bobbled two of them.
That's true.
Because Kentucky did get a little momentum.
That stadium did get a little buzz when Barryon made a big play.
I thought, are they going to be able to tie this up?
Yep.
The Wilson Barry is the holder had been so bad.
Kentucky might have had to go on a two in that scenario.
What are you doing, Ryan?
I think the adage is right.
You go on the tie on the road, you go for the win and home.
And then what they always say?
Usually at home.
Or the opposite, right?
You have it backwards.
Oh, it's backwards.
Yeah.
Go for the tie at home and the win on the road.
Yeah.
I think I'm going for the win, though.
With the way their offense has been playing, yeah.
If you're right there by the goal line, you have a chance to win it.
Yeah, you go for two.
Kentucky was on the goal line that game guys and they weren't able to get it.
Right, but they were trying to kick full goals.
Kentucky had it on the four-inch line.
Yeah.
Four-inch line and didn't score.
That's an all-timer.
Not scoring on the four-inch line when there's not a turnover.
You really got to mess up to not get any points and also not have the defense taken away.
Zero points.
Zero.
All right, well, go back to the phone line.
859, 2802, 287.
I was in a good mood first hour.
Now that back.
You were ready to build the stoop statue again in the first segment.
That segment right there got me back down again.
So we're going to beat, when at Florida, they're going to come home and beat Auburn,
and we're going to feel good again about our team being 5 and 3.
That's what's going to happen.
859-2-80-2-8-7.
We'll right back.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we
don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
and we're still chasing it and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

American soccer is about to explode.
The World Cup is coming.
Ramers sending on to Ernie Stewart for Chip.
I'm Tad Ramos.
I'm Tom Bowdo.
On our podcast, inside American soccer,
you'll get the real storylines.
I'm not worried about Policic.
I'm not worried about balligan.
I'm not worried about McKinney.
My only concern is what happens in the back.
The biggest decisions.
you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us.
Listen to Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast.
What's up, fam, it's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast Point Game.
is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs
without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player
to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level
that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective
on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's gonna be exhausted
this series because when they don't have Rudy
in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey everyone, it's Ryder Strong and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World.

who now have covered Dancing with the Stars, traitors,
and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor.
So yeah, now we're experts.
I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge.
That is the point of the show.
I'm just going to remind you.
I have watched some Survivor.
I obviously haven't watched enough.
Did people not like it?
Yeah.
Just because we...
Yeah.
We'll be recapping the big conclusion
in the 50th season.
From the final attempts at gameplay
to the desperate pleas of finalists
to a bunch of...
Ha, who.
Ah, ha, ooh.
Again, we are experts.

Kentucky Sports Radio, Ryan, Drew, Shannon, and Billy.
Who's this segment sponsored by Drew?
Oh, it is sponsored by our friends at UK Federal Credit Union.
That's where I do my banking.
I'm actually going there after this show.
They've been serving the University of Kentucky since 1937 and supporting the educational community.
From student to graduate, employee, and beyond UKFCU is here for you and here for life.
They're recently named a Forbes Best in State Credit Union, and they're a three-peat winner of Harold Leader's Best in Lex Award for credit unions.
I use their apt to pay bills, check balances.
You can even find an ATM while traveling.
Billy Fade, this listers know I did that while my lobster was on the sidewalk.
I had to go find an ATM.
It's all there at UKFCU.
Stop by today or go online at UKFCU.org to join.
Membership eligibility required.
859-2-287.
There is breaking news in the NFL right now, though, Billy.
That's right.
Do we know Wani-N-N-N-A-N-A or is it?
It's a pretty big one.
I would say it's worth a Waii-N-N-A-N-A.
Wani-N-N-A!
Devantee Adams.
has been traded to the Jets after their dismal performance last night.
Bismo performance last night.
Abysmal.
Abysmal.
Abysmal.
Saphoy, abysmal, abysmal.
They need some help, so they're going out, Billy, and got Devante Adams from the Raiders.
Yeah, a third round pick that turns into a second if they make the AFC championship game,
which I don't think is going to happen, so it'll be a third round pick,
and Aaron Rogers gets whatever he wants.
the head coach fired, he got the receiver that he wanted, man.
It's Aaron's world.
We're all just living in it.
They'll have Iowa-Wasca on the sideline here soon.
Just whatever you need, Aaron.
New York will take care of you.
He just likes all of his former Packer players to come join the teams that he's on.
If it was so good in Green Bay, why didn't you stay there?
We thought he would do this even sooner.
I'm surprised it took him so long.
Maybe a paperwork issue, but he finally paired back up.
You knew it was coming.
Yeah, you knew it was coming.
Green Bay East now.
Shannon, this is your, I mean, he's taking three of the receivers.
from his last years in Green Bay.
Is it weird seeing all these former Packers in Jets gear?
Yeah, I mean, that's kind of what I was saying.
Like, if you liked all these players, then what was so wrong about Green Bay?
Why didn't you stay there?
So, yeah, I don't like it.
He complained about not getting receiver help in Green Bay,
and he's gone out and got the exact people that they gave him in Green Bay.
859-2-8027.
Who we got next, Shannon?
Nancy.
Nancy. Go ahead, Nancy.
Hey, guys.
Okay, so I hope Matt did not break his rest,
but actually I've broken both of mine, not at the same time.
It's all in the physical therapy.
So I can do everything that I was able to do before.
So Matt, just if it happened that he did break his wrist,
just tell him that he needs to do the PT.
It's not broken.
He's got the cut, though, that they're worried about maybe some nerve
or tendon damage.
Oh.
It's not the same.
Okay.
Yeah.
But still, it's probably going to be some physical therapy form.
But let's hope for the best.
Okay.
That's all.
I'm disappointed in the cats on Saturday.
Yeah, so let's hope for a better Saturday this time around.
Amen.
Thank you, Nancy.
We appreciate it.
You all have a great day.
Okay.
All right, bye-bye.
Don't they go down to Gainesville and they knock off Florida and look good?
We're feeling good about our team again?
Or you still just can't get over what happened to Mandy?
No, I'm expecting it.
Really, the most Kentucky football thing they could possibly do would be beat Florida
lose to Auburn.
I don't think they'll do that because Auburn's that bad, but that would be the Kentucky
football response to all of this.
Beat Louisville at the end of the year,
lose your bowl game, end the season at 7 and 6.
Leave us all very confused.
There's three years in a row.
Who's next, Shannon?
Let's go to Bob and James Town.
Bob and Jamestown.
How are you, Bob?
I'm not ready for this cold weather.
There were kids out there on the Lake Tube and Saturday.
You're kidding.
Oh, yeah.
Kids can handle the cold stuff.
You know, Wildcat fans aren't the only ones
frustrated. The Bengals are on life
support. I mean, they squeaked out that
went against the Giants, but now they go
back to Battle of Ohio,
Cleveland. So
at this point, I don't know.
Appreciate it, Bob. Thank you very much.
I watched the Kentucky game,
got home in the middle of the morning,
barely slept, got up, watched
every snap of the Titans,
turned right around and watched every snap of the
Cowboys. That was not a fun
weekend for me. No. Rough.
That's 0-4-3 for you right there.
Horrible.
horrible time. That's why Ray Davis
at least brought a little smile to my face last night
because the sport of football has been on content.
Well, the Bengals at least won the game
Sunday night. It was awful. I'm not a
bigos fan, but I usually watch every game.
Even London. I'm the 930 through
bedtime guy on Sundays.
But that Bingles game, that was boring me to death.
I even turned that one off. That was not a
I'm glad they won. Congratulations, Cincinnati.
Your season's still alive. That was
an ugly Sunday night game. Yeah, it could be worse, Bob.
You could be a Tennessee van, or you could
be a Browns fan who they were playing
this week. Now, Drew, as our resident
Titans fan, Will Levis?
Is he still your quarterback? He is
a person. He's
still the quarterback as of
what the time is it? Yeah, he's still the quarterback
as of now, but I am very
worried about the future of
Will Levis's career. Yeah.
He actually, the Titans did not give up
a sack on Sunday for the first time since
they became a franchise in 1999.
Well, that's a positive. I made up that stat. It's been
like three years, but for the first time ever
they've protected him. And he
still had a bad game. Who's next, Shannon? Let's go to Brad. Brad, go ahead, Brad.
Hey, so the thing that frustrates me all about the football program is when you hear Stoop's
talk, and especially the road games, he talks about how hard it is to win on the road,
just, you know, gives a lot of that coach speak and stuff, but then they can't turn around and
win at home. I mean, the two and ten record is just dismal and just, it's awful. We should be
winning all those games except for maybe the Georgia game.
Appreciate it. That's why you say those 10 losses, two are to Vanderbilt at home,
two or to South Carolina at home, lost Missouri at home. Of course, you did lose to Georgia
two times at home, but there are a lot of games in there. You're expected to win,
especially after you'd kind of climb that ladder in the SEC. You got to where you were
beating teams like Mississippi State, South Carolina, Missouri every year. Now you can't even
beat them at home. Yeah, you had to agree with the caller. It's unacceptable.
demoralizing when you keep losing it at home, right?
Because how often do you get pumped up for a game and just to get disappointed?
It's really tough to keep that up.
But, you know, like we've talked about, they're really good at responding after those games.
So maybe they can do it again at Florida and then, you know, beat a struggling Auburn team
to bring back some passion to the fan base.
Max always tells us about once a year Stoops breaks something in the locker room.
If he didn't already break it Saturday or in the South Carolina game,
there's a team meeting this week, maybe yesterday.
where some things were broken.
I would not want to be around Mark Stoops in that first team meeting
coming out of Sunday, him watching film,
and just stewing in it for 24 hours.
Yeah, I hope he did.
I seriously hope he did.
Yeah, that film meeting should have been awful after that game Saturday night.
Just hearing now we've heard him in this Monday press conference,
his Saturday night post-game press conference,
and I didn't hear all of last night's radio show.
I know you did, Billy.
But he's about as disappointed as he's been.
since he's been in Kentucky in their effort and how they came out.
Yeah, and just looking for answers.
I think that's probably the biggest thing, is asking his players what happened.
Why are we losing at home?
You know, normally he can point to a few things after watching the tape,
but it was almost like we've got to figure out what it is.
It's not somebody.
It's like why we're doing things.
You know, there was somebody, though, that saw it coming
and predicted a Vanderbilt win over Kentucky Saturday 9.
Somebody.
Somebody.
Somebody on this radio crew right now predicted a Vandy win over Kentucky.
I'm just saying.
You sold them short.
Everybody thought it was a fluke when they beat Alabama.
They're a little bit better.
A little bit better than what they normally are.
Look, I'm not going to talk any trash.
I mean, I feel like Kentucky fans watching that game is enough punishment as it was.
Good point.
Yeah, I don't need to say anything.
All right.
Who's next game?
Let's go to Mark.
Mark, go ahead, Mark.
What's up, Mark?
Hey, real quick, I think part of the problem.
Looking back at the game on for Saturday, how many times did we punt?
How many times did they punt?
I know we had one 39-yarder because Max texted me 39 yards.
It was 39.
That's amazing.
That's amazing that every punt is 37, 38, or 39 yards.
What I'm trying to get back to is, guys, Vandy didn't really stop us.
We stopped ourselves.
It's been stupid plays.
Play calls, I think play call down at the end of when we got inside at the Reds,
outside the five was bad.
At the same time, we as an offense, we just,
I think we're immature.
And I think it actually starts being, honestly, with the coaching, especially in the off week.
They give them too much leeway.
And I think these guys are just – they're just not a mature football team.
Those guys left the building about four or five years ago.
Then you couple that on the offensive side.
We lost, like, four or five offensive linemen who never gave us anything.
I mean, Antonio Hall's kid, the Rodriguez kid, a kid from Johnson.
I mean, when you take that out of like a two couple of years,
of recruiting classes, then you're not trying to plug in guys that are from the transfer portal.
That's going to make it awful tough.
And, you know, I don't, I think next year is actually going to be worse.
I appreciate the phone call.
I hope not.
They're going to have to definitely go get more offensive linemen because a lot of these guys are
six-year seniors, seven-year seniors.
A big part is they did strike out on some of their big recruits.
Like Keonté Goodwin.
Yes.
I mean, Grant Bingham was a big guy.
He's not even on the team anymore.
He's not even playing football anymore.
That was a big hit.
But I think to the other part of the point, there is a big problem, but it's the culture of Stoops build.
He can't just change it.
But he gives them so much player empowerment and kind of do whatever they want, but that leads to them not preparing for a game like Vandy.
Yeah.
All right.
We'll take our break.
Come back.
Go back to the phone calls.
Got some good calls today.
859-280-287.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J.
He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Shannon. Hey Ryan. Are you ready for the ultimate tailgate party, Shannon? I am so ready. Tell me about it.
Well, fuel up for a good time at Clark's Pump and Shop where they have everything you need except the touchdown dance.
They've got beer. They've got ice. They've got chips. They've got crispy, crunchy chicken platters, sandwiches and more.
Try Clark's Pumping Shop's crispy, crunchy chicken, perfectly Cajun every time. Get fresh food on the go, in store, or through their drive-thru. The drive-through is awesome.
I mean, they've got two Clark's Puppetshop now in the Masters and Station area.
I can walk to two of them.
I could walk through the drive-thru.
Don't do that, but go get that chicken sandwich.
It is very, very good.
Their food is even better than what you would get at a fast food drive-thru.
Clark's Puppet Shop, return, refresh, refuel.
We do want to mention that Kentucky got a football commitment, kind of a big one because it was a big flip.
Well, in-conference flip took a three-star safety from Missouri.
Dylan Williams.
He's from Alabama.
He did an interview with Jacob over at KSR Plus, told him he plans to enroll in January,
but he visited Lexington during the South Carolina game.
Must have had more fun than I had during the South Carolina game because he decided to be a cat.
Hard hitting safety.
Got some fun tape to watch.
I mean, I don't know that'll get downhill and give you good old pop.
I know nothing about this guy.
I just know the football staff was pretty excited than it got him to flip.
I mean, he was committed to Missouri, but Ole Miss, Mississippi State, other SEC teams,
interested in. I think Cincinnati was on his list.
But yeah, good get-out Alabama, talent-rich-Alabama.
And really our secondary has not been the problem.
We thought going in that might be the weak spot on the whole team was the secondary.
But especially the safety, Zion Childress, Jordan Levin and Ty Bryant, those three guys have
been balling this year.
And the way Stoops plays, they had that hybrid position.
I'm sure they'll use him in all kinds of spots to figure out where he plays best.
I believe in the interview with Jacob.
He said he'd like to be a free safety, but they've already told him,
You're going to learn to play all over the field.
Uh-huh.
But that was good get.
859-2802-287.
We'll go back the phone line in just a minute.
But first, well, there's yoga girl.
What are you getting a special delivery here?
She brought me an ice coffee.
Another one.
Nice.
A homemade ice coffee.
You say another one.
How many has he had this morning, Bill?
I got one that's almost finished.
Now she just brought me another one, so I'll be bouncing off the wall here a little bit.
It's like continuous flow of ice coffees going through your veins.
It's going to be tough.
Two large ice coffees in front of Ryan.
I'm going to be bouncing off the walls here in a minute.
I'm going to ask you guys.
if you can come up with, according to Wallet Hub, the top 10 most fun states in America.
It ain't Kansas.
It ain't Kansas.
Top 10 most fun states.
Yeah, see if you can get most of the top five.
It's not on there, but I'm going to say Maine.
I had a lot of fun.
It's not on the top 10, but I'm just putting a Drew Franklin vote out there for Maine.
It's not an answer.
Boop, Boop.
It's not an answer.
I'm just telling you all.
I'm using the opportunity to brag on Maine.
Florida's got to be one.
Florida is number one.
California's on there.
California's number two.
Yeah.
What about Nevada?
It's number three.
There we go.
That's a good start.
What else is fun?
You're going right down the order.
New York.
New York is number four.
I mean, Texas, everything's bigger there.
Texas is number seven.
Okay.
We need five and six.
Yeah.
I mean, you're bringing this up.
I've got to say Kentucky's got to be on the list.
Otherwise, why would you bring it up?
Boopoop.
Really?
I've never been, but Hawaii looks fun.
Oh, good one.
That's a good one, but it's not on the list either.
Hawaii's not on the list.
Wow.
Think about where people started going to after marijuana got legalized.
Oh, Colorado.
Colorado, number five.
Think about another large city.
I was going to say, is Tennessee on there for Nashville?
No.
Okay.
How about Illinois?
Yes, Illinois for Chicago.
You got three more to round out the top ten.
These are tough.
I'm not willing to just tell you.
South Carolina.
Not Indiana.
Not Indiana.
Washington.
Oh, we're going.
The state of Washington.
We're going.
Looking forward to seeing it.
Minnesota.
Please.
That was surprised.
I was with you on all the other ones.
Louisiana.
Louisiana, I can get behind that.
All right.
I support a vote for Louisiana.
Now what's the bottom ten?
Kansas.
Nebraska.
Just let Shannon do this.
Idaho.
I've got the bottom.
Iowa.
Iowa.
Just follow the path of a KSR road trip.
That's that in order.
Montana.
Alaska.
You've not hit any of them yet.
No, first of all, Kansas has got to be on there.
Kansas is not on the bottom seven.
Well, that's a bogus list then.
Oklahoma is not on the bottom seven.
Alabama.
Alabama's not on the bottom seven.
Idaho.
Idaho is not on the bottom seven.
What?
What do you think?
Vermont.
Vermont is.
Yes.
New Hampshire.
New Hampshire is.
They better not have Maine on there.
I'll fight them.
Rhode Island.
Maine is not on the list.
Rhode Island is on the list.
Yes.
You've got three.
You got Rhode Island, Vermont.
Connecticut.
Connecticut sucks.
Connecticut, yes.
on the list. They need to be on the list.
You haven't even got the last two.
Arkansas. The last three.
Arkansas is on the list.
You've got about all over the bottom of the bottom three.
Arkansas is not fun. I saw the video
The Ozarks. Remember we went through?
Arcadelfia is a good time.
Don't remember we about died driving over the Ozarks when we're on
fumes, have no gas. We're in the middle of the Ozarks.
I don't want to blame Arkansas. I would blame the driver
who refuses to get gas before a long drive.
I'm not going to say a word about that.
All right, what are the other ones?
Well, you've got, a lot of them in the Northeast, you've got all of them except for Delaware.
So you still need to come up with the bottom two.
You're just going to make a scheme to state?
Yeah, well, you should know it.
South Dakota?
No.
North Dakota.
No.
Wisconsin.
Every state.
No.
Michigan.
It borders Kentucky.
Indiana.
No.
West Virginia.
West Virginia is number the number 50.
They need to put some respect on Hillbilly Hot Dogs.
That shouldn't be death of us.
And number 49 is Mississippi.
I said that.
Oh, I didn't hear you say that.
My bad.
That's all right.
So there you go.
That was a fun game.
859-280-2287.
Who we got next, Shannon?
Oh, sorry.
You caught me trying to answer another caller.
Let's go to Mike.
Mike.
Go ahead, Mike.
Hey, guys.
Thanks for taking the call.
I was just going to say everybody's piling on Wilcox today, and I think it's deserved.
But let's not forget he's a red shirt freshman.
If there's somebody that I think really deserves to be piled on,
in fact, I'd like to see him off the team,
is our redshirt junior Wilson Berry, who can't kick,
he can't hold the ball when it snapped to him.
What exactly is it that he does for us other than help the other team win?
Appreciate the phone call.
I'm going to stand up for him in this aspect.
One of those snaps was like a ground ball.
Like he had to kind of scoop it, actually got it down,
and then Alex stopped his momentum to kick.
Didn't kick it.
Okay.
That was, I think it was the first one.
The first one, when you remember, was he kind of had to scoop it.
So we'll throw that one out.
He actually got the ball up, but it threw off Alex's routine, so he stopped.
So we'll throw that one out of discussion.
Now you have another drop snap and poor punting with a sub-40 average.
They need to just go ahead and make the change a punter full-time.
I mean, like Max has tried to explain it to us.
If Aiden is kicking it too high,
Well, work with him because he's definitely got the stronger leg that can flip the field a little better if you let him kind of boom a couple.
He's been a little disappointing too.
He's boomed a couple, but he's contributed to the 37-38-yard average as well.
Otherwise, outside of Vandy, we've been pretty lucky with special teams last couple years.
Rainer's been automatic.
You've had Brown in the return game.
They haven't given up much, but the punting just, that has to get figured out.
It's been awful the last couple years.
It's been a strength in the past.
Yes.
And it's really hurt Kentucky when it comes to how.
how often they play field position and flipping the field.
I do want to say before that last game, they were perfect when it came to the holding of it all.
And Rainer was really good at kicking field goals.
And he was perfect.
You know, that goes back to what Stoops is saying.
You don't think about it until it goes wrong.
But at the same time, the point about him punting consistently 37 to 39 yards, I mean, that's got to improve.
Old Man football question.
When did the backup quarterback stop being the routine holder?
That was every team everywhere.
I know it's been out gone a while.
Well, there for a while, Carson Beck was still holding, I think, at Georgia.
I don't know if he does this year, but I think he was.
For a while, but it's kind of over time changed to the punter.
He started doing it when he was the backup quarterback behind Stetson Bennett the fifth, the fifth or the sixth, whatever he was.
And I think he was doing it last year.
I'm not sure.
I can't remember if he's doing it this year.
No, but you're right.
It used to be always the backup quarterback.
That was hard to watch last Saturday.
I mean, they're barely getting to the end zone, and the one time you do, he can't even complete the PAT.
And you could fake a field goal and you'd have your quarterback.
quarterback, your backup quarterback there to do it.
Yeah, it's changed.
The punt game was so crucial the year, the Guy Morris,
and they had that great season because Glenn Pakalak would boom it 60 yards.
And on the other side, Derek Abney could return it 60 plus yards every time.
Flip in the field position just makes a huge difference over the course of a season.
And we've got Beron back there who can do it.
We just need to find the punter that can do it at the other end.
Well, Barry on back there when he's not too much of a workload,
and has to give it to someone else.
That's true.
That's true.
And also, just with the way Stoops plays football,
you know, not many possessions, fill position game,
10 yards on a punt can go a long way.
Makes a difference.
Yeah.
All right, 859-2-287.
Who's next, Shannon?
It's got to Ray.
Ray. Go ahead, Ray.
Afternoon, guys.
I think the thing that nobody is really taking into account
is Kentucky.
lost its identity, and it's not Mark Stoops' fault, Kentucky lost its identity when Coach
Shlerman passed, because while Coach is the coach, Coach Shalerman and the Big Blue Wall
is what made U.K. And I sort of think that we've never got that back since then.
And so I think that's, I hate to say this, but I think that's the beginning of the end of the
Stoops area at Kentucky.
I hope not.
I would like to see them turn it around.
Me too.
Appreciate it, right.
Thank you very much.
There's no doubt about it.
Losing Coach Slarman took out a lot of the soul of the team, especially in that
offensive line room.
You can't deny that.
Yeah, we were just saying that earlier in the show.
You go back to Stoop's best teams.
A lot of them was just handing it off to Benny and Chris Rodriguez or whoever was back there
because you knew that big blue wall was going to do their job.
We've heard about the bowl game, which what was it?
the, was it the NC State?
I think it was when they played NC State.
We've heard that the offensive line was telling the other defensive line
the exact hole they were going to run to laughing and saying you can't do
anything about it and they would hit it, you know, Kentucky get a four or five-yard
game.
It became a joke that they just kept telling the other team to play, but the line was so
good.
It didn't matter.
They've lost that.
That was a big part of Stooped success a few years ago.
They had a whole season where all their quarterbacks got hurt, Ryan.
They put Lynn Bowden back there.
Everybody knew what they were going to do, run left, run right, run up the middle,
and yet Kentucky still scraped by, made the Belk Bowl, and beat Virginia Tech.
I mean, that's a testament to what your identity was.
Amen.
And how good the offensive line.
Shlarman not only developed good offensive linemen.
He developed depth at offensive line, something that we haven't had last couple of years.
There was the big Alabama.
It was kind of first time we knew Kentucky turned a corner.
There was the Alabama NFL top draft pick.
after the game Alabama had won but he's like I haven't been hit like that yeah since I've been in Alabama

Welcome back, final segment here, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Ryan, Drew, Shannon, and Billy R. Sports.
And you know, it's cold this morning.
It was like in the 40s, but the sun may come out later today.
I wonder what I could use, Shannon.
Hey, Ryan, I'm glad you asked.
How about some shady rays?
You know, I keep telling you to stop over paying for sunglasses.
And you don't listen to me.
One of these days, you're going to get yourself some shady rays.
You've got a pair, don't you?
You've got some of the day.
You've got those new UK blue-white ones the other day.
I got those big ones that look like you're going skiing.
Yes.
The ones I got.
Those are the new UK ones.
You can get those at Shady Rays.
You can try all of their different styles at Shady Rays

They've got a bunch of five-star reviews,

at their Lexington or Louisville locations
or online at Shadyrays.com.
Billy, you're a former Florida resident.
I am.
Got this on the A-Vision Glass Text Machine.
Okay.
Says, I'm talking to my family down in Florida,
and the gators down there are chirping pretty good.
They're saying that this will be the monkey
off their back when they win on Saturday.
Wow.
I'm sure if the Gator fans think,
yeah, this is our chance to get back in the win column.
Here comes Kentucky limping down here after they just lost to Vanderbilt.
Yeah, and we've talked about that, that everybody on Kentucky schedule probably does it inversely
and counts the Kentucky game as a win.
You know, I think they've got a much bigger issue with their head coach down there and Billy Napier
than they do just getting over the hump in Kentucky.
But I think that game that they played versus Tennessee that went to overtime was much more
indicative of Tennessee, really not being who we thought they were,
than Florida regaining any confidence.
So, you know, I'm going to pick, I think, Kentucky to beat Florida on the road this week.
But, you know, I'm sure every fan base says that when Kentucky comes to town, wouldn't you think?
So weird, we're talking about Florida being so low and Kentucky coming in and them needing to break a losing streak against Kentucky.
Billy Napier's 0-2 against Kentucky.
Could be 0-and-3.
I do think the – I mean, you don't want a guy to get hurt, and I liked Graham Mertz, who's almost our quarterback.
But a lot of Florida fans were already wanting to switch to DJ Lagway, and now –
that it's had to happen and he's going to full-time,
that might bring a little more excitement down there,
but he's still a young quarterback.
I mean, he's going to be good and has already done some good things,
but maybe you can rattle him a little bit with a good defense.
We're not that far removed from having a 25-game losing streak to Florida.
Not at all.
Not that far removed from Billy Napier talking about people in Central Florida
in their parents' basements.
Oh, that's right.
They're talking trash just earlier this season too.
Backup quarterbacks have some success over Kentucky in the past.
Ryan, are you wearing shoes without laces, right?
now yes I am
how about that is that given the recent events
uh... velcro he's got belcro shoes on shannon these are uh... they were
gavins and they became too small so they became just size and became too small
so then i got him oh wow i didn't know dad was wearing your son's shoes i had the
smallest feet in the house so all everything they out grow i get all the shoes i don't
think i got you i don't buy my own shoes i use wear use wear theirs okay ikees you get
those to wilcox those are yeah and on over to the football team that way he could stay on the
feel not to worry about his shoe coming off.

Who we got next, Shannon?
Brad.
Brad.
Go ahead, Brad.
Hey, thanks for taking my call.
I'm from Lexington.
Don't get back here very often, but I want to say thank you to everyone, my family,
Kentucky Athletics, starting with KSR, Kentucky Branded on Friday, Big Blue Madnas,
Keenland on Saturday.
Very difficult game, very frustrated with what happens.
and Saturday night in the football game, but I want to leave this on a positive note.
All the people from BBN, I'm very proud to be a part of it.
Don't lose faith.
We still got it.
That atmosphere was electric and loud, and there must have been 35,000 people still there at the end of the game.
Go Big Blue.
Thank you guys for everything.
There's our whiskey thief call today, Shannon, right there's no doubt.
That's what we need.
I think this fan base needs a little guy.
a call like that to kind of pick us up a little bit.
Because you're right, the fans were in it to the very end.
As bad as they'd played, there was still that hope.
After Barion's big return, I thought, man, they're going to do this.
We're going to pull this out.
That had just, it was supposed to be one of the weekends of the year as a Kentucky fan.
It was.
We talked about it all week.
Everything was just in place.
You got perfect weather all weekend, several opportunities to the Keenland doubleheader.
We all talked about madness over and over.
Even that plot twist had people excited all day Saturday.
It was so fun to be in Lexington, and all you had to do was beat Vanderbilt to put a bow on a great weekend,
and instead everybody's going home pissed off.
I still feel good about it.
I still feel good about winning in Florida.
What's out of the bed did you wake up?
Was it different than your normal side?
Keep getting up on that side.
You brought a lot of optimism today.
On the positive side, you beat Florida at Florida, you beat Auburn at home, and then that Tennessee game,
they're not playing.
That's not Tennessee thought they were going to be.
There's something to that.
There's something to it.
They're not throwing it around, but they can run it home.
the ball very well. They're just a different Tennessee.
Let's get out for our final caller, Shannon. Who we got?
Freebird. Freebird. Go ahead, Freebird.
Hey, guys. Great show on Friday, by the way.
Good to see you there.
My son, I don't know how similar it is to Chips, but he had a collision at first base and
bent his wrist back, and the doctor over at UK said, there was so many bones in there,
and it was up against the joint. He was up in a full cast, past his elbow for about four to
six weeks, then he wore a half cast, then he had to have a brace on. So it took him a little
while. I don't know if that's similar to what Chip's going to. And Shannon said something about
spitting somebody's face. And if somebody spits in my face, like you said on the pre-show,
I'm turning around. I'm closing line. That sucker. Yeah. Yeah. We're talking about that on the pre-show.
That's a fault. Appreciate it, Freebird. Thank you very much. Certainly would have been a few years
ago during COVID.
Yeah, an organ receiver got ejected from the Ohio State game because he spit in the face of a player.
You can't do that.
I mean, that's the most disgusting thing I think you can do to a person.
I'd rather you hit me in the face than spit in my face, something like that.
That's Louisville behavior.
It's Louisville behavior.
All right, guys, thank you.
Thanks for filling in today, says Matt was at the doctor's office.
We'll get a report.
He'll be back tomorrow.
You did the filling in.
Thank you.
I just sit where I normally said.
I didn't do anything.
Yes, you did.
You guys carried the show.
Billy was locked in and locked out this morning.
He had to go to the studio.
Locked and locked out.
They wouldn't let me in.
You did well.
Well, thank you.
We appreciate it.
Appreciate everybody who came here.
K.S. Marl will be open the rest of the day.
Come on out and see us.
Of course, it's Wings Day tomorrow.
Tomorrow will make plans come out here.
We'll be back here tomorrow.
We'll be back here Thursday.
And then Friday, we're at Don Franklin's Chevy.
Yeah.
In Somerset.
Check out our website for Media Day all day.
Mark Pope's about to talk.
Here we go.
Perfect plug.
We'll be right back tomorrow.
We'll get a 22-hour break.
