Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, here at the KS Bar and Grill. We are open for lunch.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Got some people here from Campbellsville University. You know, we're doing a remote at Campbellsville University here in, I know, a little over a month, something like that. That's what you said. I wasn't aware we were going down there. That's the Financial Aid Department for Campbellsville University. Yeah, hello, financial aid department. Good to see you. The group financial aid trip, so I appreciate you guys.
Starting point is 00:04:30 coming out. We are here at KS Bar. So let me give you a schedule of the week real quick. We've got tonight here at the bar, we have trivia. Tomorrow we will be here. Friday, we are at Don Franklin in Somerset. So we will be in Somerset Friday, Don Franklin. And then Friday night is the blue-white game. As you know, we have two finalists from this show. This afternoon, I'll have two finalists from the TikTok. From the TikTok. All right, so I put up a thing on TikTok, and I say, to tag yourself and Mario and I are going to pick two finalists today. Now, but we also got to pick one from here. So Shannon, the 1145 segment, we're picking a finalist.
Starting point is 00:05:12 So just keep that in mind. We'll do one here. We'll play the game again, Drew. What does Ryan think the answer is? I love this game. Which is a really fun game that seems to really get the fans involved. You know, we're a show of games. A lot of giveaways, like Oprah, Ellen.
Starting point is 00:05:28 but the Ryan, what is he thinking game? It's my favorite we do. And let me make the pitch real quick for the blue-white game Friday. All right. So I get everybody's worry. I express the same worry about the blue-white game and how much it cost. I expressed the same worry when it happened. Between me and you, it was going to be more.
Starting point is 00:05:52 And Uncle Matt said, you don't want to do that. Now, I know it's still a lot. I get that. But I will say this. I do think it's going to be an awesome event. I do think that they are going to have a very cool experience for everybody that goes. And they've sold more tickets, honestly, between me and you than I thought they would. But they need, like, for basketball in I.L, they're going to need more.
Starting point is 00:06:22 I hope people will end up doing it. It's the first chance to watch the team. we're going to be doing cool stuff there. The tickets are at clubblu nil.com. It's the kind of event that UK basketball never does, usually for financial reasons. But if you really want to be hands-on and get to meet players and Mark Pope, etc., I hope people will go. We're going to give away the experience here. But remember, 500 people who buy tickets are going to get to do experiences themselves.
Starting point is 00:06:53 So that's like you're going to have like a one in ten chance. of being one of them, and a lot of people listening will get to do it. And you mean literally hands-on? Like, you can high-five them? I don't think you're supposed to. I don't think they just want, it's not like prayer where they lay the hands, but yes. 12 people will get to actually come up with a handshake and literally be hands-on on the court with players. That's exactly right.
Starting point is 00:07:14 I love they've added so much of that. That's just stuff, as you said, never done before. Really haven't seen much of that anywhere. And I actually- You can be an assistant coach. There's so much you can do. I actually think they're going to have, I think like in years in the future, everybody is going to really want to be at this.
Starting point is 00:07:28 It's just they've never done this before. And it's not on television. That's another thing. It's not on television. So, like, you're going to be the only one that really gets to see Do it, the people that are there. Yeah, like you said, they've already sold a lot of tickets. They were hoping, you know, getting another bump after midnight madness, getting a bump from you promoting it this week. Because I think it could be a really cool and violent environment.
Starting point is 00:07:46 It's going to be something we'll be talking about next week, like how cool it was. So you want to be there. Yeah, so we will. Cool and violent. I hope it's not cool. I don't think it'll be violent. I hope not. All right.
Starting point is 00:07:54 So let's, a couple little things. I have a, you know, a lot of times people say, Shannon, what is the government ever done for me? Right. Well, today, they just got it finalized, something that I think every single person here is going to agree with. When does the government do something that all of you agree with? When they give us money. When they give you money. Well, no, there's people who still don't agree with that.
Starting point is 00:08:17 They go, you're hurting our deficit, all that. This is one I can't imagine anybody's against unless you're just a stick in the mud. The FTC, do you know what the FTC is, Ryan? Federal Trade Commission. Federal Trade Commission. They're the ones they make, the head of the FTC is one of the few people I've seen in government office that it seems like both parties like. It's a Biden appointee, but it's a woman J.D. Vance has praised her.
Starting point is 00:08:42 So like, everybody seems to like this woman. I don't know why, but maybe it's because she does stuff like this. Starting today, everything you have that is a subscription-based, Netflix, you know, Disney, newspapers, whatever, website, whatever you subscribe to. Starting today, it's passed, and then I think it goes into effect December 1st. They will have to have on the website one button you can click to cancel, including direct TV, cable, because you know it is hard to cancel things sometimes. You have to make a call, bring your form of ID,
Starting point is 00:09:22 You jump through a hookah fire. Yes, you have to do all these things. Now the FTC's made a rule that if you want to cancel any subscription you have, the company has to provide you a one button way to click it. I think that's a really good rule. And it was finalized today, and it will go into effect, I think, December 1st. So every website, every, to be honest with you, this will make it easier for me to get rid of direct TV.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Because just having the thought of the conversation annoys me, now you can do it with one click of a button. Yeah, it's such a hassle sometimes, you have to go through the process to try to cancel something. You talk to this person. You wait on hold. You talk to another person. You wait on hold. Then you've got to get something in the mail.
Starting point is 00:10:06 So now that sounds like to simplify everything for us. I think it's a great rule. I can't think of why anybody would be against it. No, everybody should be for it. I mean, I know why the companies are against it because they don't want to make it easy, but as far as people. Well, it's gotten to where they intentionally hide it to where you'll give up and just fine, I'll keep paying you.
Starting point is 00:10:21 No, that's what I've done. The one that's really going to hit the hardest, it doesn't apply to me because I don't work out. But I hear so much about gyms, not letting you cancel or how hard it is to cancel. I think, like, Planet Fitness is a badmund. They're going to have to put something on their site. Planet Fitness is an example. Planet Fitness will have to make it where you can go on their website and hit a button and you're out. And, like, now a lot of those, I don't know about Planet Fitness, but a lot of them you have to go in person and do it.
Starting point is 00:10:46 That will be gone. So I actually, I can't imagine a rule that is more positive than that one. Yay. All right, well, good. I'm glad you agree. Very much needed. Shannon, did you see the story about the USC, the Penn State fan who infiltrated the USC team walkout? No.
Starting point is 00:11:07 This is a great story. So at USC, you know, people are always trying to figure out how you raise money. They said if you pay $1,500, you can walk out with the team. Okay. First of all, that struck me as being unbelievably cheap. I mean, $1,500 a lot of money. But to walk out with the team, can you imagine, like, watching the U.K. football team come out and then just a bunch of guys are running with them into the Rose Bowl?
Starting point is 00:11:36 At the game, in the Rose Bowl, yeah, not just at practice. You could run out with the team during the game. Wow. Okay. So they do this, $1,500. a Penn State fan buys it. He shows up in Penn State gear. No, he doesn't.
Starting point is 00:11:56 And he runs out with the USC team in Penn State gear. I can't believe they let him do it. I can't believe they didn't let him do it. $1,500 is $1,500. And now they say they're going to change the rules to where you have to be in USC gear. But if you look at the video, Drew, the Pins, the USC team is behind the scenes pumping themselves up and there's a guy in Penn State gear going and it delides.
Starting point is 00:12:24 I love this. I think it's very cool of USC to be like, well, we didn't tell you you couldn't do it and let him go through with it. Yeah. I would love to run out as the T through the T at Tennessee. Yes. What about running out with the Louisville players throwing the Ls down while you go out? Thought about that one.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Nobody would be there to see it. I would love to do this. If you pay $1,500, you should be allowed to. wear whatever you want or whatever you don't want to wear. If you want to go out there and streak for $1,500, I feel like that's enough to be able to do what you want. I can't believe it. I also am surprised.
Starting point is 00:12:55 I mean, in L.A., I would think there'd be a ton of people that would have done it. I mean, $1,500, don't give you wrong, it's a lot of money. But for a rich person, like, that's one of those things where you can't buy the experience, or you used to not be able to buy the experience. Now you actually can buy the experience. And I'm also shocked it took so long for somebody to think about Ryan being the other team when they did it. That's a boss move. That dude, man. What a great move he did. But yeah, a once in a lifetime experience to run out on the Rose Bowl wearing your school colors with the
Starting point is 00:13:26 opposing team. I mean, how awesome is that? I looked into this. They've been doing it several years, and they actually get a decent crowd that runs behind the team. That's a pretty easy money grab. I would have charged more, but, I mean, they've done every game. Do you think Kentucky fans, if they could run out the Rupp Arena tunnel with, I mean, I think a lot of people would do it, Don't you think? A lot. At Rupp Arena to come through out of that, the huddle on the smoke. To come through out.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Now, if you could do the layup line, that's a whole other thing. How much to run through my own senior day circle? Yeah. Hold the senior day circle. I want a picture of my face. I want to run through it on senior day. How much is that going to cost me? Can I bring my parents and sway to my old Kentucky home?
Starting point is 00:14:05 Yes. This is turning into an entire fantasy camp for you guys. Yes. Well, anyway, kudos to the Penn State fan who figured out how to get around the system. and make it happen. Who's next chance? Scott. Scott, go ahead, Scott.
Starting point is 00:14:21 Hey, first time, long time. Who are? What's up? Hey, I was calling in. I was in the airport last night in Miami, and I ran into UC basketball coach West Miller.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Okay. And I asked him about the recruitment of Travis Perry. And you guys may or may not know this, but I guess he was really close to signing with, with Cincinnati. And
Starting point is 00:14:49 West was saying that he basically was three days away from commitment and then Cala Perry called him. Yeah, I mean, I'd always heard he was going to, if Cal didn't offer him, he was going to go to Ole Miss. But, I mean, it could have been Cincinnati.
Starting point is 00:15:05 But yeah, Travis Perry, he was about to announce his decision to another school. And then at the last minute, I think, feeling pressure Cala Perry offered him And he ended up here, thankfully. Yeah, yeah. And Coach also mentioned that he said Travis Perry is probably the best high school catch-and-shoots shooter he's ever seen.
Starting point is 00:15:31 It's possible to me. I appreciate the call. I mean, Travis, let me ask you, what do you think Travis Perry, like, what do you think he does this year? Let's start with this question. Do you think he is in the rotation? Yes. You better be. You have to respect his shot at all times.
Starting point is 00:15:49 I think without a doubt he's in the rotation, maybe eighth man, but he's smart basketball IQ, coach's son can shoot the lights out. He'll definitely be on the floor. So he's going to be in the rotation. Do you think he is a scoring contributor? Like, do you think he averages six points a game? That's amazing. I'll go.
Starting point is 00:16:09 I'll go under on six points. We've only seen him at Pro Day and in wide open gyms where he doesn't. miss. I have no idea if he'll be able to guard in the SEC. And that will be. I don't know if he can't be. That'll be how he stays on the floor. Six points a game, though. You say under. I'm under, but not by many. What if I said five points a game? I will go over because six was out. Wait, me, I like this.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Ryan has him between five and six. That is a very specific amount of points. You're going on record. I want us to keep a record of this, that Travis Perry averages between five and six points a game? No, over five under six. That's between five and six points again. Well, it could be like eight. Eight is five point.
Starting point is 00:16:57 Now, wait a minute, hang on. How could it be eight if it's over five and under six? Do you think eight is lower than six? Oh, I see what you're saying. What is Ryan thinking? See, this is why that game is so hard. Because Ryan thinks eight is lower than six.
Starting point is 00:17:16 We've got to work on his eights. We've done that one for a while. We've got her own beetle juice on the show. I feel like these occurrences are becoming daily. And we need the guy with the Ryan
Starting point is 00:17:24 Note's app to call back in. By the way, the Ryan's Note app was very popular. I had a lot of people say they wanted that to be a regular segment. I can't believe
Starting point is 00:17:33 you just said eight. I think six is the magic numbers. Definitely over five. But you said under six, though, so. Yeah, I don't know why I'm so confused.
Starting point is 00:17:43 Tell me about Stockton Mortgage. This is the man you want working on your mortgage right here. I got a good thing with these copy points. You hear that? Like this is what you want. Like you want to make sure the numbers are precise? I want a house between $250,000, $275,000. I got one for $3.50.
Starting point is 00:18:03 Go ahead, Stockton. I can't even find it. Here it is. This is not your finest couple minutes in the history of the show. You want to pick a number between one and 14? Pick a number between one of 14. 14. 18.

Starting point is 00:20:04 Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. and we're still chasing it and we don't know when we've done enough because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person

Starting point is 00:20:52 and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves,
Starting point is 00:21:09 I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us
Starting point is 00:21:26 on the night-to-night bases on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball,
Starting point is 00:21:39 like, you go through a training camp with that I say, You figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. American Soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming. Ramers sending on to Ernie Stewart for Chip.
Starting point is 00:22:06 I'm Todd Ramos. I'm Tom Boke. On our podcast, inside American soccer, you'll get the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about Balagan. I'm not worried about McCorm. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions.
Starting point is 00:22:24 If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us. Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos
Starting point is 00:22:48 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, wherever you get your podcast. Yes. was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How high can it be? How can't be naked at 50 with the new guy? That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be?
Starting point is 00:23:49 I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of My Cultura Podcast Network available on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We're back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at the KS Bar and Grill. Thanks to folks here for lunch. Come on out and see us.
Starting point is 00:24:15 It's cold, but it's not as cold. You know, last night, apparently got in the 20s in part of the state. I don't like all that. That's not what you want. I got to teach at Georgetown today. I have a question. Yes. Tonight your trivia?
Starting point is 00:24:28 No. So trivia was supposed to be next week, but then Kentucky plays next Wednesday. So we're going the next week. So I'll be hosting the day before Halloween. And then tonight is regular trivia where the guy comes and people enjoy that. But no, I'll be doing my next on the 30th day before Halloween. So the Kentucky West Exhibition game already a week from today. That's amazing.
Starting point is 00:24:56 I don't know if people realize. We play Kentucky Wesley in one week from today. Wow. One week from today is the first exhibition game. 859-28027. Text machine 772-7-7-4-5-254. One person writes, Matt, when I was at UK, our fraternity led the UK football team out of the tunnel multiple times. It was an awesome experience.
Starting point is 00:25:20 The only thing they said is keep running or the team will run you over. Now, you do have to be careful about that. You don't get just stomped by the team. I've wondered that before with just like stoops because he kind of jogs, but all the guys are amped up. Really any coach in the middle of that pile, they never have as much speed as the players. Probably you don't see more guys tripping and getting trampled.
Starting point is 00:25:42 What did you think? Your boy Jabbo running down the hill, surprise that hadn't happened yet? What did you think about Cash Daniels' tweet after the game where he said something like, this is what happens when you have a team that doesn't have any leaders or something like that? He's not alone.
Starting point is 00:25:58 There's been a lot of people who talk about this being a leaderless team. No leadership out there. But yet then after the game, I did like what Dumas Johnson, he kind of stepped up and like, man, I haven't lost since high school. You know, this is not acceptable. Things have to change. I think he said something like that. So maybe he's the guy who's stepping up to be the leader.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Do you think we win this week? I mean, I think this is a crucial, crucial game. Like, crucial. But Florida's probably playing the best they have this year, but they also lost their quarterback. and their running back. So their first string quarterback and running back are out. So what do you think?
Starting point is 00:26:30 I already bet the Kentucky money line heavily. I fully expect them to win. That's just what they do. I think they'll respond well. They've played well down there. Napier hadn't beaten Kentucky. Like you said, Lagway is starting now. He's come in and had a few good series,
Starting point is 00:26:45 and Florida fans are ready for a change, but he hadn't had a game where he's the guy. Well, and he started one game and didn't play well, right? He started against like a Sanford or something maybe. This is his first time. I'm the guy, and he's facing Kentucky's defense, and as disappointed as I am in Kentucky last Saturday, and I think there's some overall issues that are a problem, I expect them to still win in Gainesville. I think they're more likely to beat Florida at Florida than Auburn.
Starting point is 00:27:09 I kind of agree with you, actually, about that. Did you see what Jerry Jones did? So Jerry Jones, you talk about a dude who is not getting anything on Boss's Day. I mean, he is, he seems like the worst, no offense. I mean, he's done amazing job over the years. So you have to understand the way that, because I've learned the Dallas radio thing because I was there and I also like following. There's a station that is the official Cowboys station,
Starting point is 00:27:41 and then there's a station that is the not Cowboys station. And the Cowboys really want to prop up the other station. Now, Gus, if you're going to be here, can't start to talk that loudly on the front row. The official station, Jerry Jones, goes on three times a week. My goodness. Which is way too much. That's a lot.
Starting point is 00:28:05 But I guess he was on there yesterday, and they started asking him some tough questions, and he said something to the effect of, if you don't stop this, I'll get someone else to ask me the questions on here. Yes. implied he could have him fire. And then later in the day. somebody interviewed him and said, do you regret that? And he said, no, I'm paying them. They're not supposed to talk to me like that.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Which was very much like an old man out of touch, like I own you because you work for me thing. Now, with that said, they ain't the only ones that do that. But what did you make of that? He's got to understand it with the situation where life is not good for the Dallas Cowboys right now. He deserves to be asked these hard questions. If he's coming on three times a week, he deserves to be asked some of these hard questions. You can't do your job and just not acknowledge that you've played at home three times
Starting point is 00:29:01 and lost by like 30 all three times. Yeah, he said something like, it's not your job for me to list the reasons why I do the things I do. And then he even paused after the part about our place. He was like, I'm not kidding. Here I've got the audio. Here's the audio right here. Okay. Your job isn't to let me go over all the reasons that I did something, and I'm sorry that I did it.
Starting point is 00:29:23 That's not your job. Now, if you think I'm interested in on a damn phone call with you over and sitting here and throwing all the good out with the dishwasher, you have got to be smoking something over there this morning. Wow. Jerry's feisty. I mean, Jerry's feisty, but you lost 47 to 9. Like on some point you have to You got to ask those hard questions
Starting point is 00:29:49 Like what does he expect? That's why I always Tom Leach I'm amazed At Tom Leach has to walk a line That is such a tough lot Which is ask people questions But not get fired
Starting point is 00:30:03 Right I couldn't do it I mean There's a reason I don't host The official basketball show anymore Like I can't do that I tried
Starting point is 00:30:14 I did it for a while And you can do it when times are good. Yes. When times are good, it's easy. But when times are bad, it's tough. And Jerry Jones seems like an awful person, Ryan, to have to do that for. You're right. Tom Leach is brilliant at asking the hard question but not make you offended or making it, you know, where it's an easy way to answer it.
Starting point is 00:30:39 I don't know what the question was that sparked Jerry Jones. I didn't hear the question. I just heard his response from it. So, yeah, when I did it, I did it 2014, 15, 16, and 17. That was a pretty good few years to do it. I was told it. I was about 50. Yeah, I mean, I started after the 13 season.
Starting point is 00:31:01 So I was doing it for years that it wasn't hard. But if I was doing it last year or two years ago, I'm just not sure that I would be equipped. Maybe it was a good thing you weren't doing it, last couple years. No, I mean, look, I did it for the Harrison Twins, 38 and 2, Fox and Monk, Murray, and Uly. It's a good run. That was pretty easy. It's a good run. Honestly, and I loved it, but it's a hard, that's a hard thing to do. We'll take a break. Be right back. Rick Petino, some of the Louisville players firing back at him, Ryan, we'll tell you next. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Starting point is 00:31:40 Call T.J., he'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. We will, we're going to do this segment, and then we'll open up the phones for the finalist segment. If you wrote on TikTok, Matt, I think my TikTok, is my TikTok K-Y Sports Radio, or is it Matt Jones KSR? I think it's Matt Jones-K-S-R.
Starting point is 00:32:07 It's Matt Jones-K-SR. So if you wrote me, if you did, played the game on TikTok, you have like another hour or two, if you don't, to get in it. Because then Mario and I will pick the finalist for that a little later. We're going to do a video. You know, we're high-tech. We're doing videos. We're operating at the forefront of technology.
Starting point is 00:32:29 It's very exciting. Yeah, people think we might be the first show to add video? I think we're the first show to have TikTok. I don't think anybody else has it. All right. Rick Petino, when he was on with me, and he did it in another interview, too. basically said he has not gone back to Louisville because he has not been invited. That's correct.
Starting point is 00:32:49 That was his statement. Somebody was like, and he said, you know, I haven't been invited yet. Well, Luke Hancock, now Luke Hancock, if you remember, was the Final Four MVP the year they won the title, right? sued the NCAA. I don't know if he won or lost that suit. I can't remember. But he wanted to be remembered as the Final Four MVP. I don't remember if he won or lost it.
Starting point is 00:33:11 But anyway, he's a smart guy. I like Luke Hancock in my few interactions with him, but he did not like. Louisville fans are enjoying doing this thing where they're like, y'all can have Rick, but it still really makes him mad. And Luke Hancock had a little bit of that in his statement yesterday. He was on with Mark Innes, and he was talking about whether or not Patino had been invited to U of L,
Starting point is 00:33:36 and here's what he had to say. The fact that coach went out there and acting, like you hadn't been invited back. Okay. That's the line I don't like. Okay. Of course you've been invited back. You know, I've been a part of setting up reunions for our team.
Starting point is 00:33:55 You think I didn't invite Rick back? Hmm. I mean, honest, you think our TVT team didn't want Rick back in the city? That'd have been a heck of a way for him to come support his players, be back around the university, a little segue in. Of course. And he was supportive. Livy did some video calls with us, sent a nice message to us.
Starting point is 00:34:15 That's all great. But for him to act like, and I'll tell you this, I'll give you the real inside scoop, because I'm talking all the way up to the top. Rick Petino's been invited back to Louisville. For him to go out of his way to say that, I know he's getting old. He might have forgot some things, but that's simply not true. Why do you think he said that? I can't call it.
Starting point is 00:34:41 I do think sometimes when the cameras are in front of you, he's a guy who wants to appeal to the audience. Yeah. And I think it was part of that. It's part of, you know, he's always gotten up there in press conferences, been a bit of a showman at times. And I think that's what it was about. But I think that in particular, the whole thing maybe Louisville fans are upset about. And, you know, I don't tell fans how to fan. Not very much of it bothered me, but to act like you haven't been a press.
Starting point is 00:35:11 by this administration in any way to try and bridge the gap is simply not true. So what do you think about that? That seems a lot. He's a lot more frustrated than I would have thought he would have been about that. There's a difference between Luke Hancock inviting him and the University of Louisville inviting him. But I did think that was kind of interesting. I sitting here have no reason to doubt what he's saying. reason to doubt that they've done video conferences with Petino, no reason to doubt the administration at the university have invited him back.
Starting point is 00:35:47 I have no reason to doubt that. And we have called Patino the lioness liar that's ever lied many, many times. So I kind of. There's definitely true. But I think those two things can be both true. I think it can be the case that Rick has not been officially invited by the university, which is what he wants. But the university probably can't invite him because they fired him and they have a settlement. Right.
Starting point is 00:36:09 And so I can see both those things being true. But you could tell Luke's not happy about it, and it's rare to see a former player talk like that. Yeah, I lean a little siding with Luke here. You know, that's your coach. And if you've invited him that many times, for him to say that, I can see why he'd be upset. I already knew the fans were kind of closing the door on Rick
Starting point is 00:36:30 or close the door on him. This is first to feel like maybe some players might be even like, are you going to wear blue? We'll close this door too on our end. I think the reaction here that Patino got, I think the whole thing threw Louisville people off. I think it threw him off that he came. I think it threw him off that like he basically said, this is my favorite place on earth. And he'll sleep in it.
Starting point is 00:36:55 And I think our reaction to him threw them off. Like they were like, you all hated him. And we were like, well, yeah, we did. But now we don't. And by the way, Louisville fans can't have. like that's hypocritical. When Rick was in Kentucky, you hated him. And then the moment he showed up, you loved him.
Starting point is 00:37:13 That's how it works. Right? That's how it works. That's just how it works. You know, Trump was a donor to the Democratic Party. He became a Republican. That, then he flipped. Like, that's just what people do.
Starting point is 00:37:25 Right? So that's what happens. It still doesn't mean that I don't trust Rick's word. I don't. But I also do trust that it was a cool moment this weekend. One more thing about Luke Hancock's statement that I may not mean a lot to a lot of people, but he referred to him as Rick. Never called him coach.
Starting point is 00:37:43 That's true. That's a good point. You know? It's interesting. So Luke's on our side. You don't call him coach. You call him by their first name. On that, Rick, Luke and I would agree. Well, but he should call him coach because he was his coach.
Starting point is 00:37:53 That's what I'm saying. It's interesting. I don't know. Who's up next, Shannon? Michael. Michael. Go ahead, Michael. Hey, Matt.
Starting point is 00:38:01 I'm calling back to the getting rid of the Louisville football game thing. Yes. As a Kentucky fan that's lived in Louisville my entire life, that would just be the absolute worst. Because I agree with Drew. You all know they suck. I know they suck, but they don't know they suck.
Starting point is 00:38:20 And you think that game every year reminds them they suck. Exactly. Because going into this season, they're like, oh, we're going to beat you guys in football. And it's the same thing for basketball. They're hyping up basketball. We saw that team picture. I could go grab some guys at the YMCA and beat that team right now. They're garbage.
Starting point is 00:38:40 We have to play them to remind them that they suck. So, I mean, we just cannot get rid of it. I don't disagree with that. It is amazing me. I will say this. There is a quality, appreciate the call, to Louisville football and basketball, the Charlie Brown kicking the football philosophy.
Starting point is 00:38:57 They lose every year, and they are 100% convinced the next year they're going to win, and then they lose again. And then they'll tell you, we're going to beat you next year. You do have to love the tenacity there. I'll say I think we broke their program last year. I mean, think about what happened after they lost to us.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Lost in the championship game to a depleted Florida State team. Yeah. Lost to USC. They lost this year to Notre Dame to SMU. Could have lost last week to Virginia. Probably should have lost last week to Virginia. They haven't been the same program since we beat them at home. even before i think that might have been the final nail but just watching the fan support i mean they've been broken for a little bit there i've wondered and even said on the show i've wondered if louisville is actually just broken broken and can't come back just across the board with what basketball's done football they should be better they got bra on who they wanted forever and that doesn't have the energy around it like it's supposed to i just think louisville is slowly fizzling out to what i'm saying can i make you a prediction let them disappear shan i want you to write this down all right this
Starting point is 00:40:06 This is the Matt Jones. Remember this in a year, two years, three years, something like that. Louisville will be. If not the first, I think they might be the first. But if they're not the first, they'll be one of the first teams in the country that will take private equity money to help run their athletic department. You remember I said that. There's going to be schools. I don't think the SEC and Big Ten have to do it, but there are going to be schools that are going to take private investment money for a piece of them, which is a very controversial thing. But there's going to be a college that does it, and I'm going to bet you Louisville's going to be like the first one.
Starting point is 00:40:47 You just remember I said. I remember it. Shannon wrote it down. Shannon better have written it down. Got it. You can get ready for the most interactive event in UK basketball history. The blue-white scrimmage is Friday. Over 500 fan experiences up for grabs.

Go to ClubBlueNIL.com. It's the best chance to have an event where you and your family can see UK basketball up close. It's ClubBlueNIL.com. All right. Clear the phone line, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:41:23 Do you clear them? Yeah. They're clear. Nook. All right. So I'm going to give six finalists. So right now, 859-280-2287, the first six of you that Shannon decides to answer.
Starting point is 00:41:35 And it's up to Shannon's discretion. That's true. The first six people that call. Will's going to go out and call. Will's going to go out right now and try to call. Hope he beats it. The first six people that answer, you will be a finalist. Phone lines are open.

Starting point is 00:43:53 And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never. ever seen before. And he knows, without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
Starting point is 00:44:14 he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. that man,
Starting point is 00:44:30 hell get the flying, he running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Starting point is 00:44:39 Oh, yeah. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. American soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming. Ramos sending on the only,

Starting point is 00:45:14 My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions. If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here.

All of a sudden I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How high can it be, getting naked at 50 with the new guy. That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of
Starting point is 00:46:39 laughter and dive into it unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at the KS Bar and Grill. Folks having lunch, nice to see everybody.
Starting point is 00:47:09 Thanks to all the folks who made the trip from Campbellsville. Thank you all, Campbellsville. Appreciate it. Thank you guys all the rest. Where are you from? Where at Mount Sterling? Oh, court days is this weekend. Court days this weekend.
Starting point is 00:47:22 Everybody should come to Court Days. If you want to see, if you want to be, as they would say, amongst them in Kentucky, court days. Court days would be the time to be there. That's this weekend, which would be fun. Go to Court Days during the day. Watch UK Florida at night. That would be good. Okay, so here's the, let's put the people on.
Starting point is 00:47:39 I've already Shannon gotten Ryan's. answer on the sheet of paper. Okay. All right. And I might have him explain his answer when this is over. Okay. So here's the question. If you were to get in your car and you were to drive from Lexington, Kentucky,
Starting point is 00:48:00 to Anchorage, Alaska, how many hours would it take? If you were to drive nonstop from Lexington, Kentucky to Anchorage, Alaska, to, Anchorage, Alaska. Now, remember, to those of you answering, the goal is not to guess how many. All of you could look that up. The goal is to guess what does Ryan think the answer is? Okay. What does Ryan think the answer is driving from Lexington to Anchorage, Alaska?
Starting point is 00:48:30 Now, we've got six people on. Shannon, once you give me your answer, people, hang on so that we can get a finalist. Who's up first? Aaron. Aaron, where are you from? Paducah. Paducah. All right, Aaron. If you win, who are you going to take? I've got a sixth grade son who's crazy. Sixth grade son. They would love to do it.
Starting point is 00:48:51 All right. So you better get this right. What does Ryan think is the distance from Lexington to Anchorage? I'm going to say 50 hours. 50 hours. So Aaron thinks it will, Ryan thinks it will take 50 hours. All right, who's next? Jason. Jason, where are you from? Winchester. Jason's from Winchester. Who would you take?
Starting point is 00:49:14 I would take my wife. Your wife? That would be a nice romantic trip to the blue-white game. KS. Bar, we'll have candles for you, Jason. You all can sit in the back and we'll have a candle-lit meal. Mail. How far do you think it is driving from Lexington? Well, how far do you think Ryan thinks it is? I'm going to say he said 24 hours.
Starting point is 00:49:36 24 hours. Okay, 24 hours. That would be one day. One full day and you could drive to Anchorage, Alaska. We can do it sometime. I think we could. All right, who's next? DeMarcus.
Starting point is 00:49:46 DeMarcus. What's up, Boogie? What's up, man? How you doing? Good. Where are you from? Ashland. Ashland.
Starting point is 00:49:54 Now, who would you take? My brother. Your brother. All right. So were you and your brother good family bond? What do you think Ryan would say? I'll say about 80. 80.
Starting point is 00:50:05 You think Ryan would say 80? All right. Who's next? Bob and James. No. He got through. How did Bob and James Town get through? He got through.
Starting point is 00:50:14 He made it through. Got to give him a chance. Channing, did you give him the hotline or something? How did Bob and James Town get through? He's a listener. He qualifies. Just because you don't like him. Doesn't mean he can't end.
Starting point is 00:50:27 I don't dislike him. I just don't know that he needs to win. Can you imagine Bob and Jamestown being an assistant coach for this game? Yes, that's why I wanted to happen. That would be awesome. It would be awful. Come on, Bob. Make a good guess.
Starting point is 00:50:39 Bob. Bob? It's 83 hours. Ryan would say 83 hours. You think Ryan would say 83 hours? Okay, thank you, Bob. I don't need to ask you anymore. I don't even want to know who Bob would take.
Starting point is 00:50:51 That thing on his porch. Bob would take the thing on his porch, and everybody would hate it. All right. Who's next? Layton. Layton, where are you from? Hoptown. Hoptown.
Starting point is 00:51:03 Who would you take? I've got a sixth grade son, too. Six grade son. Nice. See these sixth grade sons? Sons pulls on your heartstrings. It's pulling on them right now. What do you think Ryan would say?
Starting point is 00:51:15 I think he said 96 hours. 96 hours. All right, that would be four days, four full days to drive there. Hang on, Leighton, and finally, who's last? John. John, where are you from? I'm from Ointon. Where?
Starting point is 00:51:32 Owen County. Oh, Oenton. You know what? For a small county, I feel like Owen County has been like people at the bar, and people we've seen like there's just been a lot on Wood County. All right, who would you take? I would have to take my wife. Your wife.
Starting point is 00:51:46 All right. So what is your guest, John? I would say 40. 40? 40. 40 hours. John says 40. All right.
Starting point is 00:51:56 So, first of all, Ryan, I want you to get, I'm going to tell you what the answer is. Okay. And then you're going to tell me what you guessed, but more importantly, how you got there. Got you. Okay. So the actual answer is, you know, I'm going to tell you. if you drove straight from here to Anchorage, it would take 67 hours. It would take a little under three days, two days and 19 hours.
Starting point is 00:52:20 So that's how long it would take. Now, talk to me about how you came to an answer. I was thinking, you know, driving nonstop. I was putting some emphasis on, you know, making a lot of ground. So I thought I could get halfway there in a day. And then maybe the other half in two days, but then I thought, without stopping, I can probably make up some time. So I said 42 hours.
Starting point is 00:52:43 42 hours. So you're only off by 25. You think you could get halfway to Alaska in a day? Driving up through Canada from here? Yeah, just cutting a corner to go up, go catty quarter through Canada. Drew would cut the quarter. Yeah. Is that even the way you would, I feel like that would be a longer way to go up through Canada.
Starting point is 00:53:01 I think you would want to go more across the United States. Yeah, I think you'd want to go up. Well, here, I can show you. You'd eventually have to go through Canada. Yeah, you want to go up through Canada. I don't think you go right to Canada. Actually, this says you would go up to North Dakota, and then you would cross over into Canada on the western edge of North Dakota.
Starting point is 00:53:20 Go through Saskatoon, where I judged the contest that one time, and go all the way up there. I know a shortcut through Canada that was cut off several hours. The winner who know your brain so much, he only missed by two hours. John from Owen County. Congratulations, John. John, how did you? Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:53:44 I think we both have a lead foot. We drive extremely fast. You drive extremely fast, okay. See, that's another thing I was factoring in. Yeah, John knows. Since they're so like-minded on this, maybe they actually take the trip together for us. That's true.
Starting point is 00:53:57 John, you and Ryan can go to go to Anchorage. All right, so John, you said you would take your wife, right? Right. Do you think she'd be excited about this trip? To Alaska or to No, no, not to Alaska, to the blue white game. I'll be losing? Tell me we lost it.
Starting point is 00:54:20 John. John! Oh, my goodness. What do we do? What do we do if we lost John? He's got the callback. He earned the right. You know what, John?
