Starting point is 00:03:26 This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now, here's Matt Jones. Welcome, everyone, Kentucky Sports Radio Thursday, October, 17th. Tonight is a full moon, according to my book. Oh, I mean, there's some meanness going on tonight. Clark's puppet shop phone line is 859-2-80-2287. A-Vision auto-glass text machine 772-7-7-4. This edition is sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, you call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Starting point is 00:03:54 Ryan, we got it's here at KS. Bar where we'll be open for lunch at 11. There's already folks here. We got a couple people here who won a raffle from Louisville to be here, which is very exciting. We've got who's from Carlisle. Somebody was from Carlisle. Shelbyville. We have a Shelbyville. Who are you? Adair County.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Adair County. Indiana. Mount Sterling. Look at that. Look at that. It's America right here. Hodgepodge of America. Glad to have them.
Starting point is 00:04:23 They were telling me they play golf at the Louisville Cardinal Club and they all wear UK gear the whole time they play. I like that. We used to do that. And then they told us it does not come back anymore. But I bet that would change. now. Maybe they have a different administration. Well, you know, I think if you would show up
Starting point is 00:04:39 in your UK KSR stuff, you might get some strange looks at Cardinal Club. Remember that one dude? Who was he? There was a guy. He ran that golf course. I think, I could be wrong about this, but I think it was that course. Remember, he hated you and I. I don't remember. I'll believe it. Anyone that... There was a guy on Twitter who he was, I think he was
Starting point is 00:04:54 a golf pro at Cardinal Club. If he was not, it might be a golf pro at a different place up there. But he was the angriest Louisville fan. And that's saying something. Because I, yesterday, heard from a lot of Yes, she did. Pop back up yesterday. They were surfaced.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Yeah, we'll talk about, I want to talk about that in a minute. But first of all, two very important things have happened, Ryan. I want you know. Number one, yesterday I'm Faye this. We had a great episode. You should listen to it. You can learn a lot about me and Drew in it. But in the conversation, I learned something about Drew.
Starting point is 00:05:25 I felt like after all these years, I knew everything there was to know about Drew. Oh, there's more to him. Really? Yes. Very complex. Kill away the layers of you. First of all, did you know he moisturizes? multiple times a day.
Starting point is 00:05:36 I don't know about multiple times a day, but I wear a moisturized. I was talking about how I have this female friend of mine who said you have to start moisturizing. And I was like, it's something I hadn't even considered. So she saw like, I went and got what she said and then I'm like putting this stuff on my
Starting point is 00:05:52 face and I'm just full of moisture. Drew says he moisturizes every day. Okay. No pop. But then he said something that blew my mind. More than this? More than moisturized. He says that Every single day when he gets up, every day he puts on suntan lotion, sunscreen. Wear it right now.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Bronzer? Would you like to see? I don't think it's bronzer. But he puts on sunscreen every time he walks out of the house. Even during the winter? I mean, I'm not perfect. They're days or I'm in a hurry. I forget, but I'd say about five days a week.
Starting point is 00:06:26 I usually leave the house with sunscreen on my house. You know, the sun still does come out in the winter. No, I understand, but, Shannon, do you do this? Every day? Sunscreen, no. No, I mean, I don't know anyone. I mean, I'm not criticizing it. I just don't know anyone that does that.
Starting point is 00:06:43 And you're the first person I'd ever heard say that you put on sunscreen, like even when you're coming here to do a radio show. I've had several fade. This listeners send me their brands. I've had a lot of people. No, you have. You have not had multiple people. I can read off some people.
Starting point is 00:06:56 No, no, I mean, it's fine. I believe you. Dom's, he wears a perfect world SPF 40. There's not a guy named Dom. There's no Dom that wears sunscreen every day. His even has white tea in it. Mine doesn't have white tea. You need to get the white tea.
Starting point is 00:07:10 I might change brands because of dumb. Drew, are you a banana boat guy or what brand are we going with? This is an endorsement opportunity. I will say I am still searching for my home brand. Every time I get a new one, I'm switching up. I think today is a super goop is the brand. That's Lisa. Not Lisa Kudra.
Starting point is 00:07:27 What's their name that does goop? No, she's like, Gwyneth Paltrow. That's her thing. Okay. See, I know my, you know your goop. You're well versed. Well, I'm hoping to new brands if anyone like Dom has a suggestion. There's no guy named Dom that we're sunscreen every day. No, Matt, this is my temple. I have to take care of it. We only get one of these. I have to take care of it.
Starting point is 00:07:47 So here I thought I was Shannon doing a big step by moisturizing. And this dude is out here doing sunscreen every day. At least he doesn't get a sunburn. One day. Probably not. So that was the first thing. Second thing, Shannon, you know, he had me recut the local taco commercial. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Because I didn't use the word best correctly or at all. Yeah, at all in this case. So Shannon has now recut the ad. Have you already played this, Shannon? Yeah, but we're going to play it again. Don't worry about it. I haven't heard this. So he has already cut this ad with best in it for me.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Three different takes. Three different takes these gave me yesterday. Here's take one. Hey, it's Matt Jones for the local taco. It's not your average taco. Local taco use locally sourced produce, certified Angus, beef and is voted Lexington's best Taco three. There you go. So there's one.
Starting point is 00:08:37 There's one. Okay. Here's option. Option two here. Oh, it's not your average taco. Local Taco use locally sourced produce, certified Angus beef and is voted Lexington's best. It's a hardcore one. Now, I know you've left the doof and schmerts one more for third. This is by far the best one.
Starting point is 00:08:56 This one probably is the one that's going to get run. Hey, it's Matt Jones for the local taco. It's not your average taco. Local Taco used locally sourced produce, certified Angus Beef, and has voted Lexington's best. Stop! You're not running that. No, you're not running that. You're not running that, Shannon. Well, hey, I think we should send it to Local Taco, let them make the decision.
Starting point is 00:09:18 It's their spot. All right, Local Taco. You want it one more? No, no. Come on. Come on. We use local source produce, certified Angus beef, and is voted Lexington's best. Tacos three years.
Starting point is 00:09:31 That's just not nice. All right. So if you hear that commercial, I think local tacos is getting their money's worth on the endorsement at least. Well, that's what you want your commercial to stand out. They run that last one. People are going to remember it. I think they'll remember it. That's local tacos.
Starting point is 00:09:46 They have. Well, it is a good taco. I'm not going to lie to you. All right. So those are the two leadoffs. Secondly, University of Louisville, the photograph. I had a lot of fun with that yesterday, but little did I know that my favorite photograph that maybe has been taken in the history of the time outside of Ryan creep it up behind Joe Biden,
Starting point is 00:10:10 which objectively is the best photograph that has ever been taken. Besides that one, I think it was the Louisville team photo. Well, major drama ensued yesterday after it. So the guy who took it, I guess his name is Matt McGavik, McGavick, I'm not sure. I don't know him. Do you know him? I do not know him. I do not even allowed to see him.
Starting point is 00:10:32 He has now blocked me on social media, blocked Drew, blocked everyone associated with KSR, except Billy, which now hurts Billy's feelings. Like, Billy's feelings are hurt because he blocked me, Ryan, Shannon, and Mario and Drew, but he didn't drop Billy. And I think Billy's feelings are really hurt that he didn't get blocked. But he blocked all of us because he had put that picture up. Now, when I first saw it, I didn't even know it was from him. Like, it was from him.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Later, when I, when I, like, searched it, then his came up, so I retweeted it. But that photo got sent to me by some random person. So apparently, here's the story, right? Apparently, they were lining up for the team photo. And he took that photo before the team photo. And then he sent it out and said, here are your Cardinals, which made everyone think it was the team photo. But it actually wasn't yet the team photo. So I put that out.
Starting point is 00:11:28 Of course, all of us laugh. We do the segment on the show. It's all in good fun. Then Louisville fans start coming at him sort of saying he made the team look bad. That'll be fair to that kid, I'm sure he didn't do that on purpose. It's a hilarious photo. And I don't understand why people don't just laugh, right? But he's now mad.
Starting point is 00:11:48 He then deletes the photo and blocks me and says we're rude. All I did was retweet his photo and say, Louisville might want to retake this. Okay? Then Louisville releases an altered version of the photo as the official photo. Now, I, and people said, Matt, shut up, this was the real photo. Now, I'm going to argue the photo the kid took is more real than the Photoshop photo. Because if you look at the Photoshop photo, two things happen.
Starting point is 00:12:21 First of all, they put a different jersey on that one kid. Yep. That is Photoshop. There's no scenario where they went and told that kid to put the other jersey on. Secondly, they changed his number. Yeah. They changed his number from 1 to 55. That was altered.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Okay? So clear, I actually would argue the one kids was more real than now AI Louisville that's out there with the smiles. But I've never seen something so minor become. so huge. Last night, Mario put on TikTok that video on our KSR, the show, TikTok, it has 450,000 views of us talking about it. 350,000 more than anything we've put out. Wow. And it's because everyone's sharing going, look at this photo and look at these comments. I thought it was funny. I still think it's funny. Apparently on the radio shows in Louisville yesterday, that was the topic. Is everybody, first of all, ripping me, let me be clear, Shannon, I didn't take the photo.
Starting point is 00:13:32 No. All I did was retweet it and say Louisville should do this again, and then we, of course, laughed at it. But we were there top topic yesterday, apparently on the shows. It's unbelievable to me, photogate. But the thing is, this is a perfect example, something I've talked about on this show a lot. What are the two most important impressions you make in life? life. First and last. Your first and last. Your first day of work and your last day of work. I was thinking about this about people that have worked with me or for me. I remember their first day. I remember their last day. This was the first impression for a lot of people of the Louisville basketball team was that blurry or, you know, was that not blurry, but the photo with their eyes closed. And that's going to be how most people remember it, if we're honest. I believe that's how the story unfolded. I have my own.
Starting point is 00:14:21 version. What's your version? After they heard your rant on the radio, they quickly sent a group text out. Get your jerseys back on. We have to take another picture today. Oh, so that's what you think. Retake day. Retake day. They had to have a retake day. You think they retook the whole thing. Well, that's what I want to believe. I want to believe they had to say, okay, we have to take a new picture in an hour. So at UK, what they do is, at UK, they take the official picture before they let the media take the picture. That way, the official picture is out there before the media comes and gets theirs. Louisville screwed it up, because Louisville let these other guys take it with their iPhones.
Starting point is 00:14:58 Before they could get it out, that's just poor organization. It's not a huge deal, but we saw how wrinkled those jerseys were. They showed up wearing clothes that looked like they had been in a suitcase. So that's in Ryan's point of view. Like, you're saying, see, I thought they photoshopped the wrinkles out. No, I think they did. I'm just saying, like, okay, sure, you had a glow up. You used some apps and make it look good, but you still showed up to photo day looking like.
Starting point is 00:15:25 They put their version of Dom's sunscreen on the thing. Yes. Without the white tea. Didn't have the white tea to get the wrinkles out. I just want to be, I wish I was in the room where they were like, okay, we have to fix this. We have to fix it right now. We have to fix it. Can we put, you know, can we put a head of Russ Smith in the,
Starting point is 00:15:49 back row or something to sort of make it work. Did they use one of those filters that makes you smile? Because everyone's smiling. They're smiling. Everyone's, except one guy. 93 isn't. The one guy has, there's one dude that they forgot to Photoshop. The guy sitting right next to Kelsey.
Starting point is 00:16:05 The guy sitting right next to Kelsey, the official picture still looks like he doesn't want to be there. He's like, he's sitting next to Kelsey. They must never have a picture of that kid smiling because they're like, we're not using him. So, anyway. Made for great show content in the last two days. To Matt, to McGavick or McGavick, whatever it is. This was not about you.
Starting point is 00:16:23 It was not personal. This is what the rivalry. For people that are young, that are just getting into the media, y'all don't know what it was like 10 years ago in the trenches, right? You all don't know what it was like in Louisville. Me and Drew versus Captain Suntan, right? And those guys. Like, that was a war.
Starting point is 00:16:43 If this is getting you this worked up, this whole rivalry thing might not be for you, man. The sheriff and suntan versus Matt and Drew. Now, that was a rivalry. You can't get all upset about wrinkled jersey, true. I'm hurt that I'm blocked. First I had heard of it. You're blocked. I love the getting blocked by someone you don't follow, interact with, or no, but they block you.
Starting point is 00:17:06 They block you. Because he said you were adding too much stress to his life. I'm sorry, Matt. So, 859-2-8-2-287. The text machine is 772-7-7-4. We will take a break. Be right back. Talk some UK.

Starting point is 00:18:24 in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it, and we don't know when we've done enough.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person.

Open your free, our heart radio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast, Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
Starting point is 00:19:29 His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nasree. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Starting point is 00:19:58 Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. American soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming.
Starting point is 00:20:25 Ramers sending on to Ernie Stewart the chip. I'm Tad Ramos. I'm Tom Boe. On our podcast, inside American soccer, you'll get the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about balligan. I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back.
Starting point is 00:20:48 The biggest decisions. You're going to look at stats and numbers. He has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us.
Starting point is 00:21:11 Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos on the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. How hard can it be with the Anamaneira Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like,
Starting point is 00:21:47 what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that That's what's going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How hard can it be getting naked at 50 with a new guy? That one's kind of hard, you know? Well, that's lighting.
Starting point is 00:22:05 They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter, and dive into it unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to how hard can it be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura Podcast Network, available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio. 859-2-80-2287. Text Machine, 772-7-7-47-45-254. We've got a lot of
Starting point is 00:22:37 moisturizer users on here. I've got a lot of recommendations. I have to look through all these. A lot of brands I've never heard of. A lot of people tell me, more people than I would have thought, say they use SPS. One person writes, my dermatologist said to wear sunscreen every day. I have a prescription one. I didn't even know they had prescription sunscreens. Yeah, that's the next level. I'm trying to get to that point. Yeah, one person writes, tell Drew,
Starting point is 00:23:02 Caldera plus lab is the best moisturizer slash sunscreen. Had that to the list. Look, who do, you know, I like this question. Why were you all talking about moisturizer on a football game picking podcast? No reason. Tell me you don't listen to fade this. It was leading into the Oregon Purdue pick on Friday night. Well, it makes perfect sense now.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Yes. We had a good review on Fade This this morning. A friend Daniel said, Fade This is like taking a Religion 101 class with three professors who are aware they don't know a ton about religion. Yeah, that's true. Well, I was talking about I went to eat. I won't spoil it, but I went to eat at Sahara, and I saw an Amish woman on a date with a non-Amish person.
Starting point is 00:23:45 And I just didn't know, like, I didn't know that was a thing. And then we learned that they let Amish teenagers have one week where they just go to the city and get party. Did you know this? No. I didn't either. You should hear Billy explain it. Yeah, well, Billy, Billy knew a lot about it. You should listen to it on face. I had no idea that was the thing. All right.
Starting point is 00:24:04 UK, uh, UK plays Florida on Saturday. We've kind of, because of Big Blue Madness and other things not talked about a lot. Huge game. I mean, it is hard to figure out how Kentucky finishes the season positively and doesn't win this one. We opened as a two and a half point underdog. We're now the favorite, which means most of the money has come on Kentucky. So a lot of people are believing in us. I have no idea how to feel.
Starting point is 00:24:35 I really don't. I have no idea what's going to happen. I mean, they're playing a backup quarterback, so who knows? Backup running back. But then they played Tennessee really well in Knoxville, maybe even should have won. We're ahead with just a couple minutes to go. What do you think is going to happen?
Starting point is 00:24:53 I'm in the boat where, even though it's a huge game for Kentucky, it's a bigger game for Florida. So I think it's going to be a battle. I mean, I think it's going to be a tough, hard-fought game. But it won't surprise me if Kentucky goes there and play as well. They played well down there the last couple of years. They usually play well after they throw in a stinker. I mean, after they stunk it up against South Carolina, they came out and played Georgia the next week pretty well. I expect Kentucky to come out and really have a lot of fight and play really, really well.
Starting point is 00:25:17 Okay, though we're going to win? Yes. Okay. All right. What about you? I already bet the money will. line. I'm feeling pretty confident for three reasons. One, they're not at home. I really think there's something to being on the road. Why do you think this team is not good at home? Like we give them the
Starting point is 00:25:32 atmosphere. We give them everything they ask. Well, it's two things. I've always thought they're good on the road because there's something about Stoops just gets them fired up on the road. That was even before this two and ten, whatever it is. But now you're throwing in that they're so bad at home. I just really think, Stoops can't find the answer. So nobody knows the answer. But there's something going on with this team playing in front of their home fans. Eli Cox this week wondered if maybe we're just too loose and free and comfortable because we have the crowd. Well, maybe people shouldn't go.
Starting point is 00:25:57 Maybe we just all get real quiet or boo the home team. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, but you're right. Yeah, so check that playing on the road. They almost always respond well. Every time we're ready to throw Kentucky football away and say this team isn't it, the very next week they go and look good and we start wondering, you know, what the heck's up with them.
Starting point is 00:26:16 So I expect them to play well. And then they've really had Florida's number. I mean, Napier hasn't beat. He could go 0 and 3 against Kentucky. A lot of these same players already have a win in Gainesville. So you add those three up, and even Lagway, he was a five-star quarterback. But, I mean, that's getting his second star. I think he started against Sanford.
Starting point is 00:26:33 But a new quarterback against Kentucky's defense, I oddly feel pretty confident. Yeah, I just, I have no idea. Literally, like, when we make the pick tomorrow, I don't even know what I'm going to say. I have no idea. I could see that game going anyway. I could see everything from us winning by 14 to them winning by 14. I just have no idea what to expect, but I think it's huge. I mean, I think, you know, there's a world where the wheels fall off if you don't win this game.
Starting point is 00:27:02 And so it makes me nervous. You know, I want us to make a bowl. I think if you lose this game, I mean, if you lose this game to make a bowl, you're going to have to sweep Auburn. I mean, we're going to beat Murray. Apparently Murray is just the worst team in football. And then you got Louisville, right? And you'll have to win all those games just to even make a bowl. By the way, there's a proposal in front of the NCAA about bowls I want to ask you about real quick.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Okay. What do you think about this? There's a big worry that with the playoff, the other bowls are going to be, like, extra meaningless. Like, because with so many teams making the playoff, there's going to be a sense that if you didn't make the playoff, you screwed up, especially for those teams that are, like, 13 to 20. So they're having serious talks about a proposal that I've decided I like, which is at the end of the thing when they assign the bowls,
Starting point is 00:27:58 the bowl game will actually be played as week one of the regular season. Oh. Of the next year. Yeah. Interesting. So if you made a bowl like last year, Kentucky played Clemson and the Belt Bowl, it would instead be your first game of the year. is Kentucky Clemson in Charlotte at the belt bowl.
Starting point is 00:28:20 The bowl games like the idea because the bowl games say this will make people care. The theory is Kentucky and Clemson will get a bigger crowd in week one than they would get in a bowl game because both teams would be coming into a new season and excited. I actually think it's a brilliant idea. And then the idea would be the two teams that played for the national championship, would repeat against each other to start the season, the two teams that lost in the semifinals, would play each other to start the season and that it would go like that.
Starting point is 00:28:51 I love it. I mean, it gets us something all summer to look forward to and talk about if it's a huge game against Clemson to start the season. And everybody would start the season, all the good teams on a neutral field playing so everybody could have the last week of August as a travel game since a lot of schools are not even in session yet. So you didn't have to worry about not having students on campus. So then all the seniors that played hard to get to that bowl game don't get to play in the game.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Well, they don't go. But then, but I mean, the thought. is it's those seniors that are not playing in the bowl game anyway, most of them, right? Because they're going to the draft or they're doing whatever to get entering the portal. So the idea is just Kentucky Clemson is going to matter more to start the season than to end the season. In the new world. Do you like it? It's all right.
Starting point is 00:29:37 If they did it, I wouldn't be against it. I'd still rather have the team I'm watching that year that went nine, whatever, one, ten games. I'd want them to see it through and them get to play Clemson rather than just have a whole. new game. But will you feel that way if 10 of our guys or 15 of our guys opt out of the game this year? Well, I was going to say they're going to have to put some incentives in this game. I mean, it was cool seeing the guys get their backpacks and their PlayStation for showing up to Music City Bowl. But I figure you have to put some prize money in these bowl games to get people. But there's also the transfer portal issue, right? Like these guys enter the transfer portal,
Starting point is 00:30:08 and the portal comes before the bowl game for some of them, right? So I'm a fan of the idea. I think if we had all summer to look forward to Kentucky and Clemson and the Belt Bowl, or even remember when Kentucky played Iowa in the Music City Bowl and none of us cared? If we were starting the season in Nashville the next year against Iowa, wouldn't that be more exciting? It would be huge. I think all the fan base would really like it. I think it all goes down to the teams and the players. And like Shannon said, these guys that played for four years, their last bowl game,
Starting point is 00:30:38 maybe it would be a big bowl game, maybe against Clemson, and they're off in them. But the good thing for Kentucky is at least as our schedule is now, the last game is Louisville, which is a pretty big game. It's not like we're ending with just a dud. You're ending with this huge game too. Yeah, make Louisville like a championship for the team. So I like it. I don't know if it'll happen, but I think it's a good idea. We'll take your calls right after this. 859-28027 KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T. TJJ. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Techie Sports Radio, 859, 280, 27. I'm going to go to the phone, but I have this
Starting point is 00:31:15 read one person writes matt i'm enjoying shannon putting up the music uh after the shows now because we can't hear the music on the podcast i actually cue up the music and listen to it when you come in that's cool that's nice yeah i wish i could play it here with another person says matt barstool did something yesterday i want to hear you all do what are your favorite songs of all time to have a person's name in the title oh gosh okay favorite songs of all time to have a person's name in the Now, I'm cheating a little bit because I'm looking at their list. So I'm going to read you on their list some that stand out to me. Sweet Caroline.
Starting point is 00:31:56 Yes. Okay. Amy. Amy, what you want to do, who? Yeah. Why are you looking at me like that? You don't know that song? Was it Doobie Brothers?
Starting point is 00:32:08 Who is that? No. Pure Prairie League. Yeah. Something like that. And then I got one. Brandy. you're a fine girl.
Starting point is 00:32:16 Yeah, that's a good one. Who sings that, Shannon? Oh, gosh. I can't think of the name off the top of my head. Do you have one? One of my favorite songs that probably nobody knows is Jackie Brown by John Cougar Millen Camp. I love it, and he played it at the concert in Louisville.
Starting point is 00:32:31 We went with Shannon and Sarah. That's one my favorite. But you're skipping like his most famous one, though, right? A little ditty about Jack and Diane? Yeah, there's another great one. Okay. Drew? One you all probably haven't heard of.
Starting point is 00:32:46 Zach Bryant has a song called Jake's Piano. I like that one a lot. Jay Z and Beyonce have O3 Bonnie and Clyde, which is a great deal. I know that one. Yeah. Well, you all are picking obscure ones. Like B-sides on John Millingham. I'm picking my favorites.
Starting point is 00:33:00 Mario, what do you have? Mario, give me one with a name on it. Fleetwood Mac, Rihanna. I like that song. Yeah. Billy Jean. Okay, that's a great one. Billy Jean.
Starting point is 00:33:11 All right, Shannon, what about you? Hey, Jude, Beatles. Hey, Jude. Yeah, another good one. There you go. Mary Jane's Last Dance. Oh, Tom Petty. That's a really good one, too.
Starting point is 00:33:21 All right, well, anyway, I just, those were some of the ones they had. Here were their top ten. Number one was Jack and Diane. Number two, Stan M&M. Yes. Run around Sue. Good one. I don't know who picked that.
Starting point is 00:33:37 Stacey's mom. Oh, I like that song a lot. Layla. Johnny be good. Yeah. Come on, Eileen. Then they had Hey Jude, Brandy, and then Benny and the Jets. So just, you know, some choices.
Starting point is 00:33:53 Looking Glass was the band that did Brandy, by the way. What? Looking Glass. Wasn't Stacey's mom also Jesse's girl, and her number was 8, 6, 7? 5.3-9? You make that joke every single time. It's yet to hit once, and you make it every single time we do it. Who's up next? Chris.
Starting point is 00:34:11 Chris, go ahead, Chris. No one's laughed ever. But Chris, go ahead. Hey there. Chris and Jacksonville just calling about going to the game this weekend. Yes. My story to it, though, is that my wife and I will be going with my son's girlfriends and her parents. That's awful.
Starting point is 00:34:31 They're gator season ticket holders. So that will be interesting. So that holds them. Have you met your son's girlfriend's parents? No, and he thinks that she's the one. Oh, then you've got to be careful with them because they might be part of your family forever. Yeah. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:34:49 Wait, no, hang on. Does your son know that you're coming on the radio saying that he thinks she's the one? Oh, he won't care. Okay. Well, then they must be real. He does not know, but he won't care. He'll be fine with it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:03 So the story, though, is this came up. He's not going to be able to go. He's out of town. But this came up a couple of weeks ago where it was. where at lunch he was going to be going he can't go and i just said well i could go within minutes she texted her dad her dad texts me hey the tickets are yours whatever so you're in florida season tickets yes we're not only you wear u k gear the assumption that's your question you wear uk you're not to be obnoxious about it but you you can't even if you're in florida season tickets
Starting point is 00:35:36 you wear u k gear yeah that's that's not the question but it sent my wife down this chain of, oh, I need to get a new Kentucky shirt because she's from an Auburn family. So she starts looking up Kentucky shirts. She comes across a, I still hate Leitner's shirt, shows that to me and my son. We both kind of laugh.
Starting point is 00:35:58 The girlfriend. Okay, but where are we going with this? What's your question? No, let me, there's no question. I'm just telling the story. She has this crazy look on her face of what is that about? Everybody in Big Blue Nation would have been so proud of my son,
Starting point is 00:36:16 who's 22, not even alive during that game. He told the story of that game with Leitner and that shot and him stepping on Timberlake and all that stuff. Well, you have to know it. If you don't know that story. Yeah. I kick back and just watch him like, he hit all the points. He was right on.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Yeah. Well, I appreciate the call. You have to know the Leitner story. Mario, do you know the Linger story? Mario, do you know the Leitner story? Do you know Christian Leitner Duke? Like, what happened? He stepped on somebody.
Starting point is 00:36:50 All right, well, you got at least that much. Yes. I feel like you, there's certain Kentucky, what are the Kentucky basketball things you have to know regardless of age? The John Wall Dance. Okay, but that's recent. Yeah. I feel like you have to know the years we won the national championship. Yes.
Starting point is 00:37:07 Okay. So, like, if you're a Kentucky fan, you have to be able to say, 48, 49, 51, 58, 78, 96, 98, 2012. Do you need to know Jack Givens had 41? I think you need to know Jack Givens had 41. I think you need to know that Anthony Davis took the fourth most shots. How far back you got to go? Do you should know who Rupp's runs for?
Starting point is 00:37:30 Okay, so you should know, I think you should at least know there was a group called Rupp's Runtz. Bonus points if you know that there's a fiddling five. Yeah. All right. Then I think you need to know that Dan Essel played there. Yes, I agree. You need to know Jack Givens. You need to know Kenny Walker.
Starting point is 00:37:52 Probably some Rex Chapman. Probably. I think they probably do know Rex, but I throw Rex. You need to know Jamal Mashburn. You need to know that the 96 team was the greatest team to ever play. You need to know that the 98 team revenged against Duke, right? Yeah. You need to know, it's a little bonus points if you know how good that O3 team was and that Bogans, if he hadn't turned his ankle, we win the national championship.
Starting point is 00:38:20 And then you get to the Cal Air and most people know. What else would you add to that? Do you need to know who Jody Meek scored 53 points against anything? 54. First thing you got to get the number right. It was 54 and it was against Tennessee. That's an all-time scoring record. I think you should know that.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Yeah, you should know that. Do you think you need to know the three people who've ever gotten a triple double? That's a little specific. Yeah. I don't know if I know all three of them. We'll take a guess. Isaiah Briscoe. Which is crazy that he's one of him.
Starting point is 00:38:47 Yes. Can you know the other two? Chris Mills. And who's the other one? That's the one I don't know. Same year as Isaiah Briscoe. Deeran Fox. Deeran Fox.
Starting point is 00:38:55 Briscoe tweeted about his yesterday. He told a little story he hadn't told before about he wanted to come out of the game and Cal left him in to get his triple double. So what else? You need to know that the all-time leading score is Issel. Yeah. What do you need to know about the Ruppair? because that's a long era.
Starting point is 00:39:11 Well, yeah, the... I like a fact you should know that the Kentucky basketball team was the United States Olympic team one year. They just took the team and took it to the Olympics and they won a gold medal. You didn't know that, Mario?
Starting point is 00:39:27 1948. They took the team and just took it to the Olympics. They added a couple guys from whatever, and they were the Olympic team. I think that's a good fact to know. All five guys then go to play in the NBA where Indiana were together. Together. Yeah, then that team then became a pro team.
Starting point is 00:39:45 Yeah. What else from the Rupp era? Well, you mentioned the Fiddlin 5, I think Rupp Runtz, I don't know, Cliff Hagan. I mean, it would be nice if you knew Louis Dampier and Cliff Hagen and maybe Cottonash just knew the names. I think that's a pretty good starter pack, though. I think you went down the list pretty good. I mean, then you could get obscure stuff like that. Then you could get to that if John Wooden hadn't retired,
Starting point is 00:40:09 we'd have won the title in 1975 right before the game. Yeah. I think that's – you need to know that we couldn't make a shot against Georgetown in 1984. Yes, that's another good one. In the second half. Yeah. And you also should know that we were like one – we were like two made free throws from Nazi Muhammad from being a three-time champion back to back to back.
Starting point is 00:40:35 Just hit a free throw nazi. 0 for 6. 0 for 6. I'll add you should know that Aaron Harrison has the greatest tournament run by one person. I agree with that because there are going to be people coming up here very soon who don't remember the Harrison twins. Yeah, three game winners. Yeah, that was 10 years ago. There are going to be people entering college soon.
Starting point is 00:40:52 Yes. Who do not remember the Harrison twins. Wow. Which is nuts. Cornbreadhemp.com. If you need to rest and relax and help yourself get some Halloween Zs, go to cornbreadthemp.com. promo code is KSR. full spectrum flour only hemp CBD.

And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough.
Starting point is 00:42:46 Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on Earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person.

I'm not worried about Polisic, I'm not worried about Balagan, I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions.
Starting point is 00:43:50 If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life
Starting point is 00:44:25 one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden.
Starting point is 00:44:42 And I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy? That one's kind of hard now.
Starting point is 00:45:04 Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it, filtered and unbothered and asked, How Hard Can It Be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Starting point is 00:45:25 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
Starting point is 00:45:48 I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
Starting point is 00:46:07 And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it out real quick.
Starting point is 00:46:23 Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, TechE Sports Radio. All right, so a lot of people saying stuff. I thought we were talking about Lightner, that clearly included the unforgettable.
Starting point is 00:46:42 The 92 team to me is one of the most important things you have to know. Absolutely. Four guys from Kentucky. Some other ones being suggested I like. This guy right here suggested Tashon Prince five threes in a row. I think you should know that. I think that's a good one to know. I think if you're a Kentucky fan, you owe it to the next generations to sit them down
Starting point is 00:46:59 and show them that YouTube clip so they know about it. The puppy set off the bus. One person writes, who are some players, Matt, that you should know just because of their connection to the program? Kyle Macy maybe Yep Yeah Might be one that I would say That you definitely
Starting point is 00:47:18 Pat Riley Because a lot of people Don't know that Pat Riley Went here You know they know him For the Lakers And the heat But they don't necessarily know
Starting point is 00:47:24 He went to school at Kentucky So I think that's a good one Rex Yeah Rex is an example of that too I think Rex is an example Of a guy you want to say He went here I like this question
Starting point is 00:47:35 In 50 years What will the new version of Matt Jones say Are the things to remember from the Cal era. I would say the 2012 title, 2015 going 38 and 1, and then John Wall and DeMarcus,
Starting point is 00:47:52 Patrick Patterson. I think if you're putting a historical perspective on it, those will be the three things that Pete. And then I think you'll know broadly that he put like 50 dudes in the NBA. You're going to know something like that. I think that's probably, can you think of something in the Cal era that would be more? We'll be Drew Harrison's three. Well, yeah, yeah, no, and then the 2014 run.
Starting point is 00:48:15 Those would be, I think you're right, that's got to be in there too. Then we'll look back and go, wait a minute, we lost to St. Peters in Oakland? Well, I mean, yeah, actually, honestly, St. Peters in Oakland will probably be like number five on that. Is that you'll go, wait a minute, that team lost to St. Peters in Oakland. I think we need to get ready for years of Reed Shepard came off the bench, because every time I'm watching ESPN talk about the NBA, another national. person is bragging about what Reed Shepard's going to be. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:44 I mean, I heard Bill Simmons say if they did the draft again tomorrow, Reed Shepard be the number one pick. Yeah. So, yeah. But I mean, like, the famous losses, I mean, Kentucky was before my time, but they lost to middle Tennessee state in the tournament in like 82 maybe, something like that. And then St. Peters and Oakland, Ryan, are going to be right there. So are there any positives in the last five years that they can remember 50 years?
Starting point is 00:49:11 People remember Oscar getting 50 rebounds and then going into the crowd to take photos for two hours. Yeah, I think if you're trying, honestly, if you're saying what are people going to remember from the next five years? They're going to remember us losing to St. Peters in Oakland. And then they're going to, I think, Oscar is probably the one that you, I think beyond that. I mean, I think Reed Shepard and Rob Dillingham might be remembered in the way Pat Riley is that they're more remembered for the fact they did something else, but that they went here. because Pat Riley was like the sixth man on this team, wasn't he, when he was here? Something like that? He may have started on the team.
Starting point is 00:49:46 I don't know. What about Caliperi walking his dog, that whole drama? Well, Kentucky fans will remember that. I don't know if 50 years from now they're going to remember. Jack Gokly will be around for a while. Jack Gokie. That'll be a tournament name that said for many years. Who's up next, Shannon?
Starting point is 00:49:58 Rob. Rob. Go ahead, Rob. Hey, just a couple comments and a question. I was thinking about what you said about the bowl game proposal. Yeah. I mean, we have corporate people trying to figure out how to make money on a bowl deciding what's good for football. Well, guess what?
Starting point is 00:50:18 And basically they've come out. Just so you know, every decision that's made about what's good for football is made from a money corporate perspective. It's not just the ball. No, I understand. That's why we've got a playoff system. Which is right. At least they're saying that they, at least they're admitting that the new playoff system has rendered the bowls now completely. completely useless that with no consequences or nobody really cares anymore.
Starting point is 00:50:45 But the thought about the 12-team playoffs, and I know we have it, so no matter. But does anybody really think that we're going to see the number 12 team or the number 10 team actually string together enough victories to win a national trial? No, but that doesn't make it not good. When there's usually a blowout in the championship. Hang on, but that doesn't not make it good. When you watch the NCAA tournament, do you really believe the 16 seed is going to win the title? No, but you still do it.
Starting point is 00:51:14 If you're watching Calamari coach, you're going to watch. Well, they might win a game. But, I mean, seriously, your joke is because you don't think there should be a playoff. But the premise that exists in your comment is the same in the NCAA basketball tournament. When the NCAA tournament starts, there's 20 teams that have no chance to win it. But we still enjoy it. And so in this 12-team playoff, there are going to be some teams in it that don't have a tournament. chance to win, but it's still going to be entertaining.
Starting point is 00:51:40 Well, I understand that. I'm just looking at it from a football standpoint that you don't have injured players every game in a basketball team, and you're just grinding down your better teams. Well, then you grind them down. I think they'll trade it off. I appreciate the call for the chance to win a championship. You know, you can't sometimes, and I'm not saying this guy's like this, sometimes people just like to complain to complain.
Starting point is 00:52:04 You don't like the playoff because it renders the bowl's meaningless, but you don't like bowls because they're meaningless. So, I mean, what did you like? Nothing? Was that better? When a bunch of dudes sat in a room and voted on who the champion was, was that better? I'm pretty fired up for the new format of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:52:21 I was just looking at the projection. Like, you got, and this will change, but Tennessee playing Ohio State in the first round, you got Boise State in there. I just think there's going to be some crazy games. So I was going to say, let's say Boise State was going to play Baylor in a bowl game. I probably wouldn't watch it.
Starting point is 00:52:35 But if it's a playoff game, I'm watching it. Comeback against LSU, 31-point comeback. That might be one that I think, yeah, that I think people remember. I mean, there's other, you know, moments like they're riding the bus into the championship after the 96 championship. I don't know if people will remember that in 50 years. What about Sam Boone? It's one of my favorite memories since I've been here.
Starting point is 00:52:54 But, I mean, how many people remember how we celebrated the 58 title. No, I'm talking about the 96th title. Okay. But my point is, in the scope of history, if we have forgotten, gotten the 58 title, then when people in 50 years get there, they will have forgotten how we won the 96 title. Well, I'm thinking the 96 title, the way we celebrated is more meaningful. What did they do in 58?
Starting point is 00:53:15 I don't know. Exactly. All right, so go ahead. I was going to say, San Buoy before Jordan is a kind of a Kentucky basketball fact. Someone just texted that to me. That's a good one, actually. Sam Bowie picked before Jordan. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:25 That's a good one. All right. Who's next? Daniel. Daniel. Go ahead, Daniel. Good morning, guys. First off, rest of peace, Kassarlani.
Starting point is 00:53:32 Yeah, we're going to talk about him in the next. hour but yes got it got a couple of additions to the to the discussions this morning a quick apology and then a shout out if you'll let me do one of those three things you tell me which one well there's a couple of them are related how about the Perry Stevenson swatting the foul shot I hope that's not one we were remember but yes I mean the tornado game just that no that's yeah yeah and then while we're in the BCG there you got to include his favorite favorite karaoke song.
Starting point is 00:54:08 I'll remember that Amanda, him singing Amanda at Chinoaway Pub, but I don't know if that'll, I don't know if future generations will be thinking about Billy Gillespie singing karaoke. And it's a name song I'm talking about for what they did. Oh, for the name, yes, Amanda. Yes, I appreciate the call. That's a great song.
Starting point is 00:54:24 Amanda. I never got to hear him sing it. I've heard the legend of it, but I did you ever witness it? I witnessed him singing karaoke. I did not witness him singing that song in karaoke. But I was at Shinaway Pub one night when Billy Gillespie, maybe 16 to 18 people there, got up and sang karaoke by himself and then went and sat at the bar. We just brought Rick back at madness. Maybe next year he sends him an advance.
Starting point is 00:54:52 Just bring everybody home? You think Billy Gillespie will ever ever be back? No. No. I'm not going to say never. Eddie Sutton? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:04 He came back. Bring them back for what? Bring them back, bring him team in, beat them to go to Shinaway. I mean, like, talk about a guy that wouldn't get applause. What are you cheering Billy for? I think people might cheer. You think they would? You think we're so sitting a middle?
Starting point is 00:55:20 Sympathy clap. Yeah, it would be like, no, we're glad you're doing well. Okay. I'm not clapping because of the results, but you think he could even be the Y? Maybe like the C. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
