Starting point is 00:03:46 Radio. It is, all right. So if you want to call the show to talk 502-571-7-9-100, so we're using a different number today. 502-571-7-1-7-7-7-7. 900. Give us a shout. Love to hear from me. 502571900. We're at Don Franklin, Somerset, Chevy. Our family dealership's been serving Kentucky for 56 years, over 30 rooftops, 30 buildings. We got Buick Cadillac Chevy GMC. It's all here. And today, free Penn Station, if you come out here to eat. And of course, I'm going to give these blue-white tickets away. It is time for us to make our KSR parlay picks from Draft Kings. You can pick anybody money line we've won two of three in the last two weeks we're hot we are absolutely hot
Starting point is 00:04:35 uh shannon i'll let you go first you say you always get your stolen go for it okay i like this one number 19 Missouri at home they are a four point favorite over Auburn that's like that's easy money you're taking Missouri yes boy you wouldn't you wouldn't like me thinking uh Auburn's got a shot but they're at home so yeah so you're gonna like take Missouri yep I got Missouri okay with that I'll take us with Missouri Drew where you First, I'll say I had to make a Draft King's video yesterday by picking the video, Missouri to cover four. So I'm with you as well. Okay, good.
Starting point is 00:05:05 I love this one so much. I tried to make the game happen last week, Miami, Louisville. I'm going with Miami. They're on the road at Louisville, but going on the road at Louisville is just like going into an empty building. I even saw Louisville's AD yesterday. He said, guys, I understand noon games on a Saturday or heart. No, they're not. It's a Saturday.
Starting point is 00:05:23 That's when people can get to a noon game on a Saturday. Unless you're lying, you can be somewhere at noon. But he was making excuses for their bad turnout. Miami's undefeated. They're a title contender. They've got to win this game. I say they went on the road at Louisville. All right.
Starting point is 00:05:35 So we got Miami. We got Missouri. What about you? Oklahoma at home over South Carolina. Oklahoma, the one and a half point favorite. I'm going Oklahoma. Isn't Oklahoma at South Carolina, though? No, they're home.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Yeah. Okay. I actually liked that one. You didn't think we'd like that. I didn't think you'd like that one. Missouri, Oklahoma, Miami. You know, my favorite pick is Nebraska at Indiana. because they're getting six and a half,
Starting point is 00:06:00 but I don't want to pick a six and a half point underdog as my money line pick. But if you were betting just straight up against a spread, I like Nebraska a lot. I'm going to take LSU as a two and a half point favorite at Arkansas. I think LSU goes on the road and knocks out the hog. So we got LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Miami. We'll send that to them.
Starting point is 00:06:23 We'll send that off and get the parlor. I feel good about it. We're on a heater right now, so let's keep it going. We are. LSU was good to us last week, too. They were good to us. Yeah. I want to just note something.
Starting point is 00:06:34 You guys probably in Somerset don't sort of follow it as closely as it's been followed in Lexington. But I do, I don't want to do this, but I have to do this because three of the four of us have been employed by this group. But I got to call out L-EX-18 news for what they did yesterday. Because I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but I want to use. use it as an example of how words matter. So some of you may know there was a UK student who was caught on video about a year ago using racial slurs on a fellow student and I think, I think like she hit her or something like that.
Starting point is 00:07:16 I don't remember the specifics of it. Well, she was arrested and she was charged with the number of crimes. But then she pled guilty and she was given a one-year sentence, which, she will probably not end up serving a year, but she was given a one-year sentence as part of a plea. Now, why does this matter? She was actually sentenced for assault and assaulting a police officer, because apparently when the police came,
Starting point is 00:07:43 something happened. That part, Drew, I don't believe, is on video, right? The part with the police officer. I remember seeing this video. I don't remember that specific. There's a video with the woman that she said the racial slurs to that's a student, but apparently she's alleged to have assaulted the officer, but I don't think that was on video.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Regardless, she pled guilty and received 100 hours community service and a year for the assaults. Now, this is why I have to call out LAX-18 news. I think it's really important in today's contentious society that the words you use are correct. Here was the LEX-18 headline, which they put up 20 hours ago and is still up right now, which I think is important. They have not corrected it. They wrote, former UK student, Sophia Rosen, was sentenced on Wednesday to one year in prison and 100 hours of community service for racial slurs against students.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Notice, they don't say the assault. They say for the racial slurs. Now, what does that do? Well, first of all, it gets people riled up. Because if they don't know the story, they go, wait a minute. She's in jail for a year for a year. racial slur? That doesn't seem right. What about the First Amendment? That's what everybody says. And by the way, racial slurs are awful. You shouldn't do them. If you do, you're a bad person,
Starting point is 00:09:06 you're acting badly. But you can't go to prison for that. Okay? So L-EX-18 now gets all of these people angry thinking people are being sentenced for the words they say. And they leave out the fact that she assaulted the girl and assaulted a police officer. They just leave that out. Now, if you click on the story, you see it. But they don't put it in the headline. And so, of course, it gets a ton of engagement. It goes all over the country.
Starting point is 00:09:36 People in Kentucky are sentencing people to prison for the words they say. But that's not true, Drew. It's not true. And they have yet to change it. And, you know, I worked at L.A.X. 18 for three and a half years. Ryan worked for him for 15. How long did you work? 12 years.
Starting point is 00:09:52 12 years. Good people. I think a lot of people I worked with aren't even there anymore. But you can't when you're like, we're down to just a couple of media agencies in Kentucky. And they're one of the biggest. You can't make that mistake. It's not, it leads to people being angry and they're getting angry over something that is not even true. And it really annoyed me, Drew, because it went national yesterday.
Starting point is 00:10:16 And they know it's wrong. LEX-18 knows they got that headline wrong and they're leaving it up and that makes me mad. Yeah, this is 2024 on the internet. People will see a sentence accepted as fact. I'd say half the people probably didn't even open that link. Nobody clicks the store. Yes. And then, of course, there's outrage, whatever it is.
Starting point is 00:10:34 When you're sitting there, because we do it not as in a serious matter, but title in a KSR post, people are going to see that one sentence that you've attached to link to and it needs to be accurate and all that. And I mean, that's just not even remotely true. and most people aren't even going in to get the details and then there's just outrage and it spiraling and getting worse and worse when it could have just been a better headline. I don't know the girl.
Starting point is 00:10:54 She clearly made a mistake. I don't know what kind of person she is. She shouldn't have done it. The slurs were awful. She should have been, like, people should have been angry about it. But she went to, first of all, she didn't even, she's not even going to prison. It's a misdemeanor.
Starting point is 00:11:09 She's going to jail. That's not the same thing. They said prison. It's actually jail. But more importantly, she's not going to jail. for the word she said, which is what L-AX-E-E-X-E-Tin said. And, Ryan, you've worked in news. You know it's important.
Starting point is 00:11:22 You get it correct. Everything she did was wrong and bad. But the lead is attacking the police officer. That needs to be the lead. And the girl. And the girl, the assault. That's the lead. Okay, Bob, this isn't your show.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Go ahead. It makes me wonder why they haven't changed it. Are they just trying to continue to get the clicks? Because that makes no sense if they knew. Well, now they're just being stubborn. Yeah. Because, like, I called them out. and then a lot of other people did too.
Starting point is 00:11:47 Now they're just being stubborn. So I just wanted to note that on the radio. You've got to fix that L-AX-18. That's a terrible look. I'm sure it was just somebody who made a mistake, but every moment it's up there, it looks more and more intentional when they do it. 502-57-1-7,900.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Who's up first, John? Chris. Chris, go ahead, Chris. Hey, Matt. Once again, I just want to tell you guys, I enjoy your show. But I had the fortunate luck of getting really good tickets behind the bench this weekend.
Starting point is 00:12:17 And I was wondering, I don't even know if you can bring signs or make signs. But if you can, I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions. Oh, you know, signs are one of those things. You've got to be clever, like kind of on your own. I will say this. Are you talking about for the Florida game or the blue-white game? I'm sorry, for the Florida game. Yes, I'm not very clever.
Starting point is 00:12:39 That's why I'm asking. Okay, so you've got to make fun of the gators. Yeah, I don't know. Are you, like, in a place where you'll be on television? Well, I'm three rows from the sidelines or from the Kentucky bench. So, I mean, you know. You might. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:56 We'll think about it. I appreciate the call. I do like the – I don't know. Can you bring signs in the games? Yeah, I mean, they'll look at it and make sure it doesn't say something crazy. I would say be careful to get too cocky. Or he'll get confiscated. If you're a Kentucky fan anti-Flor, they're going to confiscate that sign pretty quick.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Not just that. Just remember, we just lost to Vandy, so I wouldn't go in there just, you know, throwing fists at everyone with my son. I don't know. What can you make fun of Florida right now? I mean, Napier won't be there much longer. You could say something about people in their basement in Central Florida. It's kind of a long sign. Don't make those jokes. There's been too much happen there. I'm just going to say pull Napier down. Because of what Florida's had the last cup, I just kind of let it go probably. We'll get, we'll beat them and we'll get them next year when they're in Atlanta, or in Lexington. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:13:43 Brian. Brian, go ahead, Brian. Okay, I wanted to get your take on something I observed in the Vandy game, and it happened in another game earlier this year, and that is when the Vanderbilt quarterback fumbled, and then he recovered, and Stoops argued about it for about 20 seconds, then he calls a timeout for 60 seconds. Meanwhile, their quarterback hobbled off, went to the injury tent,
Starting point is 00:14:08 and I'm just thinking, hey, why don't we, you know, if the quarterback on the field rule that, you know, says, hey, you know, Vandy's got the ball. But I'm thinking, hey, if that quarter, the backup quarterback, he's not going to be an 80% completion guy. Whoever comes up the backup quarterback, I'm thinking we could get a stop and get the ball back quickly. I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:14:27 I had that same thought. He did a challenge that had virtually no chance of working, if you remember. I mean, that was, you know, it was a big play had they fumbled it, which is why he challenged did, but like the replay pretty much showed they weren't going to overturn it, yet they challenged it anyway, and it actually gave Pavia drew a chance to get back healthy and get back in there. I hated that in real time. You know, they even said they weren't reviewed. It seemed like the reps were pretty sure of it not being a fumble right away. And like the caller said, I guess Pavia had to sit out one play. And when Stoops called the time out, I was asking people to
Starting point is 00:15:01 rule, like, does Pavia now get to come back in? Did we just mess that up? They were just giving him way too much time to get healthy where you have a backup that's been sitting on his hands. Whenever the Mark Stoop's era ends, like in the sort of, I don't like to, I don't want to use the word obituary, but in the Shannon, the final, like legacy. Like when we talked about Don Calgary's legacy, he has a legacy of national title, four final fours in five years, you know, lots of positivity, right? NBA players, et cetera. And then there's the legacy of how it ended. When Mark Stoop's legacy ends here, we'll say, maybe the greatest. coach here since Bear Bryant built the program from the ashes and made it a solid competitive
Starting point is 00:15:45 SEC program. But I will be writing in there. Maybe the worst coach with clot management I've ever seen in my life. I mean, honestly, I'm not sure I know of a coach who does it worse when it comes to clot management. And just in-game, not strategic decisions. I actually think he's pretty good at that. But just management of a game decisions, it's just like nobody there thinks about it from an analytical
Starting point is 00:16:16 way. They just don't. As good as he is at other aspects of coaching, these are the same complaints that we have had going back what, seven, eight, nine years ago. We were complaining about them then and now here we are still talking about the same mistakes over
Starting point is 00:16:32 and over week after week. It's nothing wrong with having a weakness. Every has a weakness. What bothers me is he doesn't bring in anybody to fix dry his weakness. Because it's clear that's not what he's good at, but they just don't ever get better at it. No, and then when after he had a couple of mishapsed this season, he said he was going to go back to just with his gut. I'm just going to go with my gut. But the gut is the, no, clean out the gut. Get a colon cleanse. Get that gut out of there. Yeah, healthy gut. And let's do something else, Drew, because the gut is not working. Yeah, that
Starting point is 00:17:05 was I guess Georgia. I didn't love that when he was like, well, I wanted to do this and the people around me talked me into this. My gut thought that. It's like, man, you should have a plan and a philosophy. And I didn't like that he threw the people around him either. Like, well, I was going to, I was going to do the right thing. And then the people around me told me no. Like, dude, you make the decision. Right. Like, it's yours. Don't be saying the people around you said something. It's your decision. I did like, he bounced back after it. At Ole Miss, he said after they went for it on fourth down. We planned all week to be aggressive. We planned to go forward on fourth down. There was no decision making in the moment. When we landed in Oxford, we knew those decisions. That was different than the week before. He's like, all the people around me are saying this. And oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:17:47 His old miss call was great. But it also showcases how much his reputation is at being bad at it. That Lane Kiffin was like, can you believe he went for it? It was almost like he did the right thing. Shocking. You know, you got to be better at. Hey, if you're looking for new furniture, appliances, or beds, how about P-Rats? How about P-Rats?
Starting point is 00:18:09 How about it? A locally owned and operated appliance store. How long has P-Rats been in? Just go to the website. Don't tell you. All the history right there. 75 years. The best appliance retailer voted in the bluegrass for six years in a row.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Go to P-Rats in Lexington. There's one in Richmond for your next sectional, living room refrigerator. It's all there. It's P-Rats. Remember, nobody beats P-Rats. We'll take a break. Be right back here in Somersets, Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night,
Starting point is 00:18:34 A blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. SportsSlice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to SportsSlice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Starting point is 00:19:30 And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
Starting point is 00:19:50 And we're still chasing it, and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Starting point is 00:20:07 Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Keir Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free, our heart radio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. American soccer is about to explode.
Starting point is 00:20:30 The World Cup is coming. Ramos sending on to Ernie Stewart the chip. I'm Todd Ramos. I'm Tom Boe. On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, you'll get the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about Balagan. I'm not worried about McKinney.
Starting point is 00:20:52 My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions. If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise. prize if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us. Listen to Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and
Starting point is 00:21:20 Tabramos on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play. the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed. He has to guard Julius
Starting point is 00:22:00 Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Eve Nass, but get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp
Starting point is 00:22:19 with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover,
Starting point is 00:22:33 and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a permanent. Apaisal Chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with the Adamani Arriba where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that
Starting point is 00:23:04 Ness was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How hard can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy? That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it unfiltered and unbothered and ask, How Hard Can It Be?
Starting point is 00:23:26 I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura podcast network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We're back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live in Somerset at Don Franklin. Appreciate all the Somerset folks. Every time we come here, we get, and we're here a lot. Every time we come here, people are always nice to us. And a great crowd out. We're going to give some tickets away here in just a minute.
Starting point is 00:23:57 So Tony Bennett just did his press conference here. Virginia says he's leaving because college sports have changed. The game of college athletics is more to a professional model. There needs to be transfer regulations, and this is not the game he wants to coach. That's all fine, but you knew that in the spring, and now you wait. He signed a contract extension in June. He had a bunch of kids that decided to come here, presumably to play for him. It's now too late for them to go anywhere else, and he's gone. I think that, Shannon, is a very lame ending.
Starting point is 00:24:31 Seems like a good dude. He was a very good coach, but you don't end like that. You knew. He signed a contract extension in June. He knew what the rules were. Completely lame. We've been in this world of NIL and the transport portal now for a couple of seasons. He knew exactly what it was going to be going into the season.
Starting point is 00:24:50 I think it's completely selfish to do that a week or two before the regular season starts. Told you I watched that interview at ACC Media Day just a few days ago. He knew then when he's talking about how excited he is and how this guy's going to do this and they're going to run this offense. That was in the back of his mind. I think the speculation everyone had that he just wanted. wants to hand it off to his associate head coach, which he announced just now. It's looking like what it was.
Starting point is 00:25:12 I just want, I want all the coaches, older coaches who, who I never want to hear the sentence. This is not what I stood up for. This is not what I wanted to get into anymore. You don't have to do this, right? Like you are not being held hostage. Mark Pope, when I talk to Mark Pope, he was like, you know, do I think this system's perfect? No, but this is the system, and we're going to go win a national championship at Kentucky under this system. If that's not your attitude now, Ryan, go do something else.
Starting point is 00:25:46 That's fine. You'll be good, but this is not, you don't work in a coal mine where, like, you have to do it to feed your family. You can go do something else if you want to. Stop whining about it. And that includes coaches that are close to the UK program that do it. If you don't want to do it, Ryan, don't do it. Somebody else will. Get out, because it ain't changing.
Starting point is 00:26:06 This is the world we live in, man. So it's so unfair to those families and those kids that committed to play Virginia, committed to play for him. Now all of a sudden they're coached a week before they're supposed to play an exhibition game is out. That's really – Well, do we need to go get any of them? I just – I cannot – I'm – my biggest frustration in college athletics is not dudes getting paid, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Yeah. It is coaches making $8 to $9 million a year whining about their job is hard because their employees might leave. The height of hypocrisy, right? I mean, saying one thing about players and then turning around and doing the same thing that you're mad about the players doing, leaving. I mean, they're the coaches are the most privileged people in the world. Anybody here that works for owns a business, do you have problems with employee turnover? Do people move jobs? Yes.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Try doing a restaurant. People change jobs every few weeks. The idea that he can't manage 12 players because, oh, they're going to. might leave like it just in the noise when by the way he coached at wisconsin green bay and what happened when virginia wanted him he laughed that's what people do well he's he set up his assistant to have the job now i hope every player on that roster goes to a bigger school in 20 days they have the window when a coach leaves you get 30 days i hope virginia in 20 days has zero players on the roster i don't know if that'll happen listen they're those their phones are going to be ringing their teams
Starting point is 00:27:34 to have had practices. I need a big man. I need a point guard, and they are all calling Virginia right now. Yeah. Who's up next? Josiah. Josiah, how are you?
Starting point is 00:27:44 Good. How are you doing? Doing good. Hey, I just wanted to mention about yesterday's conversation about, like, most important things that have happened that you have to know as a fan.
Starting point is 00:27:54 I think one that was missed was Tachon Prince lighting it up against North Carolina. We mentioned it. Yeah, the five threes. And from the logo, we mentioned it. Oh man, I totally missed it. I listened to the podcast on Run, so sometimes I zone out a little bit.
Starting point is 00:28:11 That's okay. No, Tashon Prince is definitely on there. I appreciate the call. I had people all day, Ryan, suggest some other ones. But if you're talking about iconic, regular season runs in a game, you know, Meeks, 54 is obviously up there, Monk 47 in Las Vegas. but I don't know that there is one better than Tashon Prince with the five threes to start the game. It's the only time as a respectful member of the media as I was, I lost it. He hit that fifth one and I just instinctively stood up and was clap. You're not supposed to clap on Press Row, but you get caught up in the moment. It was unbelievable that.
Starting point is 00:28:53 And again, part of what made it so awesome is that he had the, you know what, to even take that fifth shot. Yeah. You know, to just go, I'm going to walk across half court and I'm going to fire it from. right here and you know what and he turned around he knew it was going to go in before it went in that was amazing that's when you're feeling it yeah that's a shot even in that moment it's a what the hell are you doing if that doesn't go in do we add justin edwards 11 for 11 against Alabama it had never been done in history a player making every shot uh by the way do you know shannon who justin edwards is playing for this year i looked this up literally this morning
Starting point is 00:29:28 uh just take a guess fort way mad ant's okay it's a good guess anybody know? I'll tell you what, I would give you, I'll give blue-white tickets if anybody can guess it. Go for it. Seventy-sixers, but that's not who's playing for me. He's opening the, he's in the organization, but he's opening it somewhere else. The Delaware blue coats. Delaware blue coats. Not blue hens. Yeah. They're the blue coats in Delaware. He's on the, he's on the 76ers G-League team. I remember last summer interviewing that kid about how he's projected number one and he's pointing to all the UK players on the wall behind them. I'm going to be next. I really feel bad for the kid because, I mean, a lot of people wrong on that.
Starting point is 00:30:13 A lot of it's on him, some of it's on cow. But that kid was the number one pick in his mind last June. By the way, in the NBA rookie of the year preseason odds, right now the favorite is Zach Eadie. Second, Reed Shepard, third, Rob Dillingham. Oh, that hurts. Every time you say something like that, that hurts. I mean, and Antonio Reeves, by the way, made the final roster. Yes, he did.
Starting point is 00:30:42 So he's, Antonio Reeves, made the Pelicans final roster, a team that's going for the playoffs. He made the roster. So we have three rookies who not only made the roster, two of them are two of the three favorites for rookie of the year, and we lost Oak. Rob on the sports center IG was the first thing I saw this morning. A little Rob highlight to start my day.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Love that. Reed Shepard. Well, I can't think about it. We'll take a break. 859-2-80-2-80. That's not right. 502-571-7,000. This is KSR.
Starting point is 00:31:12 There we go. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at Don Franklin Chevrolet in Somerset. Big weekend for UK sports. Blue-white game on tonight. The women start at six. The men right after. and then 745 tomorrow night, UK and Florida on the SEC Network,
Starting point is 00:31:37 another game of Jordan Rogers and Tom Hart and Cole Kublich. Ryan, I really like those guys. I think they are a good group. I think Cole is good with his player insight, and I think Jordan Rogers is like for a dude that was on the Bachelor, he's about as good an announcer as you're going to find. I think he's great. I love that whole crew.
Starting point is 00:31:57 I just wish they'd do all of our games. And Tom, of course, throws in us little KSR Nuggets once in a while so that's a great crew to have all do all our games Matt as you're watching the game will you be maybe calling the game yourself like you're doing play by play since you got a big bowl game coming up at the end of the year. I've had some people I've had some high schools offer to let me come and and do a game on a Friday night that'd be great I'm probably going to take one of them up on it but I'm going to do it like I'm not going to tell anybody you know what I mean like I want to be able to do one and not have everybody going hey you stink no one breaking you down and
Starting point is 00:32:29 yeah so I'm going to just take a game game somewhere. No. Just show up and say, I'm not kidding. I've had like three or four different high school football teams say you could come do one of our games and I was like, I'll only do it if you don't tell anybody I'm coming so that I can just come. No, because I need to want to practice without the glare of people going, you don't know what you're doing. Yeah. It's a great idea, actually, to do a real game as a practice. Yeah, I mean, you can do it. For me, it's not really a in anything in life until you're in a situation that's real. Like me sitting at home is not going to be the same as like having to fill air time.
Starting point is 00:33:11 You can't recreate that, Ryan. I think you actually just have to go and do it. And I think you need to go back and listen to it yourself because, you know, usually you're, we are best or worst critics. So go back and relisten to what you did. That'll help you get ready for the real game. It's kind of like hosting a radio show by yourself. You can't really prepare for that until it actually happens.
Starting point is 00:33:29 Until somebody leaves you at home. Backage. Yeah. How many of you here watch Law and Order? Oh, I love Law and Order. Do we have any Law and Order fans, handful of them? Apparently last night's Law and Order was new, and in last night's Law and Order, they killed off a future Kentucky basketball coach.
Starting point is 00:33:47 What? I missed the episode. So apparently the detectives walk up and there's a dead body. You know, I've never, I haven't seen Law & Order in 20 years, but there's a dead body with like a sheet over it and the one detective says to the other such a tragedy he had just signed for 20 million dollars a year to coach Kentucky basketball they killed mark pope on that law and order what was our twist yeah did the redheaded guy like pull down his glasses and say it wasn't for everybody or anything like that he's always got those dumb but they said he had just he had just been uh offered 20 million
Starting point is 00:34:24 dollars a year to coach Kentucky basketball that was on the law and order last night it's a little dark because they're like a writer that's kind of a Kentucky fan. I don't know. I thought it was creepy. I thought it was great. I'm going to watch that episode just to see who did it, the resolution. It might if it might hit too close to home. Yeah, may.
Starting point is 00:34:41 Two big SEC football games this weekend. Huge one. Tennessee, Alabama leads it off. Tennessee and Alabama, you can make an argument that the loser of this game is in danger of not making the playoff when both teams probably thought they would make it. Tennessee's at home? I have no idea what's going to happen in this one. This is a massive game for Kalin DeBoer at Alabama.
Starting point is 00:35:05 And I actually think it's a pretty big game for Josh Hypole as well, who Tennessee fans kind of expect to make the playoff, who you think wins. Yeah, Tennessee, I don't think it scored a touchdown in the first half their last two games. So this high-powered offense is kind of staggered a little bit in Tennessee. But the game is in Knoxville. Alabama's not the Alabama of years past.
Starting point is 00:35:24 I'm going to Tennessee. Yeah, I'm not going to actually bet on it, But I would lean Tennessee getting some points at home here just because there's so many unknowns. Bama's been very disappointing. They're still talking about DeBore's shirt. They're still so upset about that. Rome is kind of crumbling down there. But Tennessee's been disappointing too.
Starting point is 00:35:42 So I think anything could happen from a gambling standpoint. I'd take the points. I like Alabama. But, I mean, so you think if Tennessee loses this game, they're out of the playoff picture entirely? Well, I wouldn't say out. I mean, but they still have to play Georgia, right? So, like, they still, you still have to play us as well. That was kind of what I was getting to.
Starting point is 00:36:00 What if we had the chance to knock them out of the playoff picture altogether? I think if you, I think if they lose to Alabama. And then lose to Kentucky. Then they lose one more. They're out. Yeah. So even if they beat Georgia. But I think what you, Alabama still plays.
Starting point is 00:36:16 They still play Texas. I mean, they still have another hard game, play LSU. So I think the loser of this could be out. Now, Georgia goes to Texas. It is that they say this will be the biggest economic weekend in the state of Texas ever. My goodness. With Georgia playing Texas, and then the next day is an F-1 race in Austin. They say there will be more, it'll be the most money outside of the Super Bowl when it's happened in Houston and Dallas that they've ever had for a weekend in Texas is this weekend in Austin.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Georgia and Texas, unfortunately, it's during our game, which makes me mad because I want to watch this one. Who you got? Man, it's tough to ever pick against Georgia, but Texas, I think, is the best team in the country right now. It's at home, Texas. One for our fade those listeners, Matt. Texas, all three phases of the game. All three phases.
Starting point is 00:37:07 I do think Texas is just slightly better than Georgia and that home field advantage than first year in the SEC hosting Bulldogs. I think the atmosphere will put them over the top even more. Cats gave Georgia everything they could handle just, you know, a few weeks ago. So I think that Texas is way too much for Georgia. Texas. Yeah, I think Texas, I think this is going to be a game where people go, oh, Texas is in the SEC. I mean, I think we have to reorient ourselves to, you know, we've always kind of thought, all right, football, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, basketball, Kentucky, and then whoever else.
Starting point is 00:37:46 We're going to have to start reorienting our mind that it's going to be Texas and everything. Yep. is because they now have a new pot of money coming in, the recruits they're going to get. I think Saturday night, Ryan, is the start of get ready. Texas is going to be like, you know, Texas is going to be Texas for a long time. And I'll remind you all next year when Cooper Manor, or when, what's his name? Arch. Arch Manning is the quarterback at Texas.
Starting point is 00:38:14 Ryan, they're going to be coming here to Lexington. We will have Arch Manning playing here in Lexington. They look so good and they played Oklahoma last weekend. So this is their chance. You don't play big boy football? All right, you got Georgia coming in your backyard. Let's see if you can play big boy football. It's been so fun the last 10 years to make fun of Texas being back because every summer
Starting point is 00:38:32 they talk about how back they are and they'll lose to Maryland week one. They always have a disappointing year. But this year, I hate to admit how good Texas look. They're officially back and it's their first year in the SEC, which makes it even worse. I think they are about to, so I think they win. I think Texas wins and I think Alabama wins. And you'll miss. the Tennessee. Well, no, wait, you can listen to the Tennessee Post Game show while you are watching the Kentucky game because I think they will be very sad.
Starting point is 00:38:59 All right, so here's what we're going to do. We got our eight finalists for the experience. They're all on here. We didn't, we didn't miss one. One of them did not come on. Who didn't come on? Tim. Which one's Tim? Tim. Tim South. Tim was one of the ones from this show. Well, sorry, Tim. You weren't home. So what are we going to do? finalist that will be going for the experience. We'll do that next, but first tell me about Stockton Morgan. Got this text this morning at 9.30 this morning. Hey, Ryan, my fiance and I just purchased a new home in Murray. We use Stockton Mortgage based off of your recommendation and promotion. They were phenomenal. We closed on the home in less than 30 days. This is the best home buying experience I've
Starting point is 00:39:41 had. I will absolutely recommend Stockton to my friends and colleagues in the future. Thank you. That's better read than I can ever do. So there you go. So you got that at 930 this morning. You weren't even here yet. I wasn't even here yet. Actually, I think I was walking into this building in 930. Check your, you get emails like that direct to you? It was a text message. Oh, okay. Well, good. All right. Well, we will take a break and come back. Give away these tickets. It'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Starting point is 00:41:18 that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Starting point is 00:41:37 Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves.
Starting point is 00:42:17 I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nasree. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
Starting point is 00:42:36 And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball like, after you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. American soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming. Ramers sending on the only store at the chip. I'm Tom Ramos.

I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions. You're going to look at stats and numbers. He has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great

I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, Fupa's sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How can it be getting naked at 50 with a new guy? That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it.
Starting point is 00:44:54 it unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of My Cultura podcast network available on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio
Starting point is 00:45:14 here live at Don Franklin. All right, I'm going to, we're going to put our, put our callers on the line here. John, let me just put, everybody on and I'm going to say hello to everyone. Who's up first? Kentucky Blue Dad. Kentucky Blue Dad. Now he came from TikTok. Kentucky Blue Dad, where do you live? Pleasureville, Kentucky. Pleasureville? Yes, sir. That sounds like a place. I've been there. That sounds like somebody says to women where
Starting point is 00:45:48 they take them. I'll take you to Pleasureville. Every birthday, Shannon goes there. All right. All right. Well, thank you, Kentucky Blue Dan from Pleasureville. Who's next? Cam. Cam. Also from TikTok. Cam, where do you live? I live in Frankfurt. Frankford. How old are you, Cam, by the way? No, she's a W-ass liar. What are you doing, Cam? Are you in the middle of something? Are you there?
Starting point is 00:46:18 Yeah, I'm here. I'm at school. I'm at school. It's cool. You're at school. Yeah. Yeah, I'll be a lunch right now. I'm at lunch. All right, Cam, can you go somewhere? First of all, Kim, can you go somewhere a little quieter?
Starting point is 00:46:34 Yeah, yeah. I don't want to distract you, Cam. You sound really excited about this. Interrupt your nuggets. All right. All right. Hang on, Cam. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:46:46 Emily. Emily. Emily. This is Emily Sharp, who we mentioned got it. Emily, where are you? where you live? Hey guys, I'm in Lexington, Kentucky. Lexington. All right, who's next? Matt. Matt, go ahead, Matt. Where do you live? I live in Lexington. Lexington. Okay, and then we have our last three. Who are they real quick, John? Ryan. Ryan, where do you live? Russell Springs. Russell Springs. Remember he got it yesterday.
Starting point is 00:47:18 Yep. Ryan was very nice. Ryan said I actually didn't win. The other guy won, but it was too late because we couldn't get the other guy on the phone. So we had, but Ryan actually noted that he didn't win yesterday. I screwed it up, but Ryan's still going to get to make it. Who's next? John. John, you from earlier, right? No, I'm from Ointon. Ohington. That's right. You were the day before. And then we have our winner from today. Who is that, John? That's Mike. Mike. Okay. You there, Mike? I'm here. All right, seven people playing for the UK basketball experience. Here is the contest. Remember, the contest is not what is the correct answer, but what does Ryan think the correct answer is? Okay, he did a really good job yesterday.
Starting point is 00:48:05 It's amazing. Yesterday, he got it right on. So for the people listening, especially those of you from TikTok, the game is not what is the correct answer. The game is what is Ryan think the answer is. Ryan, I need you to write your answer down on this sheet of paper. Okay. Here's what's an interest.
Starting point is 00:48:19 I bet how many of you know this? I looked up the 10 seasons that Kentucky made the most threes in a season. The 10 seasons where Kentucky made the most threes in a season. Seven of the 10, Drew, are seven of the eight Rick Petino years. Okay? All the years except 1991, which was the year, if you remember, we won the SEC, but we're not allowed to go to the tournament. seven of the top ten were seven of the eight Rick Petino years.
Starting point is 00:48:49 The other years, the Brandon Knight year, the Malik Monk year, and last year, which is amazing. All the teams were good that made all those threes except the team last year. So here's the question. Add up all 10 of those seasons, all 10 of those seasons, total number of threes made by Kentucky in the 10 seasons, they made the most threes ever. So you take the seven Rick Petino seasons, the Brandon Knight season, the Malik Monk season, and then last year was Shepard Reeves and Dillingham,
Starting point is 00:49:29 add up all ten of them, and what is the number of threes made? Ryan, write your answer down. Do not say it. Okay, there's his answer. All right, now, let me go through here. Let's see what everybody says. Ryan's answer is in.
Starting point is 00:49:47 who's the first one? Kentucky Blue Dad. Kentucky Blue Dad, what is your guess? What do you think Ryan said? I'm going to say 1,300. 1,300. Next, Cam.
Starting point is 00:50:04 Cam from school. What school are you in, Cam? He's up all the way. Sam, speak again. Are you there? Yes, sir. I'm at Franklin County High School. Franklin County High School
Starting point is 00:50:20 By the way, Cam, do they know you're on the phone? Yeah, well, like, I'm in lunch, so I can really just, like, they see I'm on the phone, yeah. They can do whatever you want. Franklin County High School, I could, you know, I can do whatever I want. Franklin County High School. All right, Cam, what's your guess? We'll go with 1150.
Starting point is 00:50:46 1150. All right, Emily, what's your guess? Oh, gosh, I'm going to do 1,420. 1,420. Okay, now we have three guesses, four more. The guess is what does Ryan think the answer is? Who's next? Matt.
Starting point is 00:51:05 Matt, what do you got? I would say 2,000. 2,000. Okay. Who's next? Ryan. Ryan, go ahead, Ryan. What do you think it is?
Starting point is 00:51:16 1,525. 1,525. Who's next? John. John. Go ahead. 1,250. 1,250.
Starting point is 00:51:31 And then finally, one more. Who's next? Mike. Mike, he's from today, right? This is Mike from today. What's your guess? I'm going to say a little bit higher, maybe like 2,200. 2200.
Starting point is 00:51:46 All right, so the guesses range from 1250 up to 2,200. Now, the correct answer before I give it, 2865. 2865 is the correct answer. That's if you add the 10 seasons up, it's 2865. So none of you got as high as the correct answer. Have you all seen what he guessed? I saw it. My guess.
Starting point is 00:52:15 He was closed. What'd you say? 2,800 and something, I typed on my calculator. But have you seen what he said? No, no, no. All right, Shannon, just if you were to play the game. Yeah. What do you think Ryan said?
Starting point is 00:52:28 Ryan probably said something ridiculous, like 3,000. Okay. I did my actual guess. Well, 3,000, by the way, would be very close if he said that. I'm going to say he went lower. I'm going to say 1900. All right. Ryan Lemon, the correct answer.
Starting point is 00:52:45 is 2865. Yep. The lowest answer from Cam, who's making things happen at Franklin County High School is 1150. The highest answer is Mike, who became a finalist today, who has said 2,200. And then all the other answers are in between. Ryan Lemon, his guess, with the correct answer of 2865, is 7,000. Yeah. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:53:14 Yes. I just missed it. Did you watch the games? Seventh-old. Now, so people understand what that guess would mean. Let's assume we won the national championship every year. Okay. That would be 40 games.
Starting point is 00:53:31 Okay. 7,000, if you were to do the math, would be 700 threes a year. Let's say you played 40 games. That would mean we made 17. three's a game. We were good. Every game. We were really good. For 10 years. That'd be a record. That would be a record. That's not what happened. No. So our winner from today, who was picked by Shannon because he wanted his kid to be able to come, become a Kentucky fan. Mike, congratulations. Nice.
Starting point is 00:54:10 How excited are you? Mike, are you there? I'm here. You won, Mike. Are you happy? Oh, man, so excited. I can't wait for tonight. Good.
Starting point is 00:54:27 Well, thanks Shannon. He's the one that picked you. Chans, change the man. Love the pre-show, too. What can you say? Nice. Enjoy it. Shannon, hang on.
Starting point is 00:54:37 Excuse me, Mike, hang on. We need to get your information, your phone number, and your email.
