Welcome, everyone, Kentucky Sports Radio. I am Matt Jones here live at the KS Bar and Grill. It is
wings day so get your wing on dollar wing all day you can give the shout on the clark's
puppet shop phone line 859 280 2287 a vision auto glass text machine you were probably like well
what's that number what is that number 7 772 7752524 in this edition sponsored by the t j smith
law office you call t j he'll make them pay dollar wings all day my trivia is tonight got some work
to do still on it haven't written all the questions but they're going to be ready uh this evening
You're going to have some, it's definitely themed.
You know, we got sports starting.
It's Halloween.
We got the election coming.
Just all kinds of, like, you know, that's a little secret of you could maybe guess some of the topics.
And you got your class today, too.
I mean, you got a full day today.
I got all kinds of stuff, too.
You know what, though?
We just keep rolling.
This is the time of year.
This October and November, Drew, both sports going on at the same time.
You got all the World Series.
You got hurricanes.
You got the hockey team.
You got you say what you got trivia a lot of stuff happening all stuff happening long days getting ready for our trip to Seattle
That's a month away one month away we will get in a car and we will drive across these United States
And fly home right? We're going to drive across these United States and then probably going to fly home
Probably but you know listen I don't know if you've been looking
And flights are long.
Actually, they're actually not as expensive coming home from Seattle as I would have thought.
But there's five of us.
And so I thought maybe four of us would fly, and you could drive the car back.
Somebody's got to drive the rental back here, right?
Somebody can drive the rental back.
And then I feel like that's fair, don't you, Nur?
Yeah, Matt and I, you know, we like fly a little bit.
Matt's big flyer.
Yeah, yeah.
You come back with the car.
You don't have an allegiance, Ryan, from Seattle.
You come back with the car and it's all good.
You know, the thing about, like, if they cancel your flight,
they have to like pay you back.
You know, that started yesterday.
Did you know that?
No, I didn't know that.
So if they cancel your flight and you and you want, like if they cancel your flight or if it's two hours late
and you would rather get your money back, they have to do it now.
And if they lose your bags, if your bags are more than 12 hours late, they have to give you
money.
And there's like all kinds of stuff.
And then it's a whole new process.
I didn't know that went into effect yesterday.
Yesterday.
So starting now.
Just keep that in mind.
All your flights, if they mess it up and you miss where you need to go, you can get your money back.
I like that.
You do?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So they can't just, you know, now they just give you a voucher.
Yeah, right.
Right.
No, not anymore.
Money back.
I like it.
Oh, that's a great update.
We've all been in that situation where you've been canceled.
It's absolute hell.
At least you'll get a little cash back when you have to go through it.
All right.
So the game last night, Kentucky played Minnesota.
State Mancato, one by 31, got to 98, not quite 100.
It was close for a little while, but I liked them playing a game like that because, you know,
I wanted to see how they would do when they didn't chew well.
And they started something like three for 14, so that was good to see.
And then you start making them.
Mark Pope said after the game, we're going to keep shoot.
And the great thing about this team is, we're going to keep shooting.
And then they did.
Jackson Robinson hit eight threes, which I think that, again, gets lost in the shuffle.
My man has eight threes, and I was reading all the game reports, and it was like it didn't even get mentioned by some of them.
And it's like he had eight threes. That's an amazing performance.
Saw some really good stuff from our guards defensively, especially in the first half, kind of got people ignited.
Amari Williams did not play. The good news is it looks like, according to the X-ray, he's all right.
And so that's good because I think everybody took a big deep breath when they saw that.
So I feel like another positive day, right?
Probably Mark Pope is static how that played out because they didn't shoot the ball well coming out.
I think they hit like what, three of their first 13 or something.
Then Amari Williams went out hurt.
He's like, okay, we got some adversity.
We've got to figure out how to win this game.
We're not shooting well.
We don't have a big guy.
It was 22 to 20, I think was the score.
And they even had the ball.
I had a chance to go ahead.
But after that, you're right.
Jackson, Robbinson just, he got a, he got.
on fire. He just started banging them down and then the momentum.
They went on 18 and nothing run.
What's amazing about this team is that 18 to nothing run was like three minutes.
Like it, like it's, it is unbelievable how quickly they can turn a game that's not going
well, how quickly they can turn it into something positive.
Yeah, after like Ron said, it's 22 to 20, the last six field goals before half time are
threes.
I mean, they just absolutely turn it on.
Robinson hit most of them, but that stretch Trent Noah hit one.
I think Lamont Baller hit one.
and then next thing you know you look up
and it's a 20-something point game going into halftime.
A little surprise.
Trit Noah kind of took over for Perry in the rotation there.
That may have been because Amari was out,
but that was a little surprise.
Kurt coming back.
Kurt his minute's quite a late.
Trent Noah's three's one, it kind of sparked everything.
I think he hit the first one,
and then it kind of just kind of,
but you're right, he didn't play till late in the second half
against Kentucky Wesley,
and he was in the rotation early in the first half last night.
And then Perry was not in until late in the second half.
They had a weird lineup in there with Amari out.
It was like Lamont.
Butler.
Noah was the five.
No,
yeah.
And then at one point,
defensively,
Braya was at the five.
They were a very small ball lineup as they were trying to
piece stuff together.
It's interesting to watch that happen.
Brandon Garrison,
by the way,
I thought played well.
I thought he was,
he played great.
Had 12 points,
showed some moves.
And that close to coast,
he missed it.
But that could have been one of those highlights.
He was,
he was all over the place.
His arms and his legs were going in like five different directions.
And then he still drove around people,
spun,
a euro stepped from half court and then he missed the layup, unfortunately.
Couldn't finish that one, but he still had to play the game when he punched on that guy's head.
He could have had two of the plays.
Why, let me ask you a question.
If you're Minnesota State Mancato and you're like this just random dude, why are you trying to stop that?
Yeah.
Don't you just get out of the way?
Get out of the way.
I have a theory.
He'll never be in Rupperee again.
He's like, I've got to have something to show my family that I'm going to get dunked on.
I mean, you got dunked on by McDonald's All-American in Ruppery and playing Kentucky.
Okay.
He'll be working for State Farm one day, and that will be on his desk, showing his clients.
That's a little hard.
This Division II National Champion.
You think you're going to work at State Farm?
Did you see him try to block that?
I don't know if basketball is after.
I mean, I'm glad he won his championship, but I don't know if he had the hops to shoot.
He's already got these dudes working at State Farm.
It's neat to hear the coach of the other team talk about Kentucky.
He said basically, you know, we've played Division I teams every year.
We play three or four of them this year, and he said, no one has treated us better than here.
That's cool.
He said it's not just you get to play Kentucky.
People treat you like you're a big part of it.
And then he said, this team is really, really good.
He was like, I think he said, we played well, and we lost by 31.
Yeah, they did.
They played pretty well.
Kentucky, they're a great passing team.
You know, once again, our assist-turner ratio is just out the roof.
So I can see where other coaches look at them.
and they're like, man, this is a team that could really win a lot of games this year.
So when it was a little shaky early on, my thought was, okay, this is good because I want to see who steps up.
And it felt like to me Jackson Robinson was like, all right, I'm going to get us back, Drew, in the game.
I'm Jackson Robinson.
I spell my name with an X, which takes a specific type of confidence.
Marks the spot.
It does X.
I can give it to you.
And he took it and I thought he was kind of the one who sort of put the margin for us to get back, to
in our lead. Try not to overreact in all this fun, but I feel like that Jackson
Robbins' three-pointers is going to be there pretty regularly. He's just, he's so
calm too. It just looks so calm. He's like a silent assassin. He doesn't even react
when it goes in. It's just business. I'm just going to shoot this in your face. It's going to go in.
We're going to run the other way. Boy, it's a good thing we got him. Yeah.
I mean, and I still don't think we've gotten the games we think we'll get from Andrew
Carr yet. No, not yet. He had a good second half, but I mean, just the first half.
The idea of what we want him to be, which is this big man who sets pick and roll, can get threes, all that.
That hasn't happened yet.
So I still think that's out there to happen.
You're right.
That's a great weapon.
We really haven't seen it yet.
I was glad to see what Brandon Garrison can do.
I mean, now we see why he was a McDonald's All-American and he recruited so highly.
Dude can play.
I think for me, the biggest surprise in the early games has been Otega O-A, because I think he's much better maybe than I thought I had in my head.
Me too.
Do you agree with that?
Yeah.
I thought Bray would be the guy that might start the two.
He's the guy.
He's the best going downhill, getting to the basket.
He's the best we've got on the team for that.
And he's been the spark both games.
He had like seven points and four rebounds in the first two minutes last week
and then first four points last night.
I mean, he's immediate energy when he comes in.
So do you feel like with him or with this team after these two games,
first game is right state Monday, do you feel like the team is better?
worse or the same from what you thought?
Be honest to me, I think they're a little better
because there's a couple guys that are better than I thought.
Otega's one of them. Garrison's one of them.
Amador is one of them.
These guys were better than I thought,
and they're a better defensive team than I think we thought going in.
Yeah, I actually would say slightly better too.
I mean, I think they were 20 for me in the country.
I'd now say 15 to 12.
Why not?
I mean, like, think about it.
What's wrong with this team?
I mean, seriously, what's wrong with them?
First of all, just compare them solely to our teams, all right?
Is this team better than the teams the best Cal teams?
No, but do you not think this team could have given all of the Cal teams except 12 and 15 a good game?
Oh, yeah.
They'd give them a game.
They'd give them a game.
And there's a hell of a lot of teams in the last four years.
They beat.
Yes.
Right.
So I think this team is good.
Am I wrong?
No, not at all.
They're flawed at a few places, but that's kind of how he built his team.
What do you think the flaws are?
I mean, there's some guys.
I don't think Kobe Brea is athletic enough that, well, I think he's athletic.
But, I mean, I thought he'd be a little more athletic.
But you have athleticism, other places.
I mean, he's a lights out shoe.
That's how Pope kind of got a little bit of everything to put together and he'll use them where he needs them.
The big thing for me of why I think they'll be good is Lamont Butler.
I will over it.
I will overreact to him.
He's the real deal.
He's good.
That defense is going to show up every night.
I mean, his turnovers have been down.
I know he's playing two D2 teams now,
but that guy is going to be great this season.
And I just have to tell you,
I think it's fun watching a coach,
watching the smart system.
Yeah.
I just think it's fun.
I mean, you know,
we'll see how fun it is if they're losing to somebody by 15.
But watching, like, adjustments,
watching guys just never stop moving.
And like, you know,
We had a shot clock violation this year.
I would per violation last night.
I would say in the regular season, I'll put our shot clock violations at like under six.
Of course, I'm serious because they just don't, most of the time it doesn't even get to 10 seconds.
And the shots are good, Ryan.
They'll work for a good shot.
He recruited guys to fit his system and they know how to work it.
We scored on an out-of-bounds play even last night.
How about that?
Don't say that couldn't be true.
You're not supposed to run those.
I don't know.
That was legal.
I thought we cheated last night.
Yeah, you can't do that.
Obviously, not on the Minnesota State Scudder Report.
I think Kentucky doesn't run out of bounds plays.
We don't get ready for it.
So, you know, play Wright State.
Let's just look at the first three games.
Play Wright State, play Buck now.
Do you have any worry that one of those games, you know, that one of them could get us?
Not what I've seen.
I mean, I know they're just exhibition games, but what I've seen so far from this team,
I have no worries in those two games.
No, not really.
Right State's got a lot of players back, and they led them.
the nation and field goal percentage already did a little spying on them for Monday.
But I just think with so much experience and so many pieces where even if a guy is having a bad night,
okay, you sit down.
We have more of you to check in.
I think they're going to be fine in all the early non-conference games that aren't Duke.
Okay.
So then let's go to Duke.
Bring it.
You ready for him?
I don't know how we're going to.
Cooper flag.
That's my big question.
You want them to stand up and rise to the occasion.
I'm money line betting it regardless.
I've been waiting on that.
It's happening.
I feel confident.
What do you think the line will be?
Duke three and a half.
Okay.
What about you?
Cooper flag will be a problem.
No, listen, we're going to have a hard time guarding those guys.
Like, they have the size and athleticism that they're going to be able to,
they're going to be able to get some easy buckets on us.
But they ain't going to shoot better than we are, are they?
No, I would say not.
When that team shoots, gets hot like they did last night,
there aren't many teams that can beat that basketball team last night the way they shoot the basketball.
The Minnesota State coach said,
I love watching a team play smart
and he was like,
this is one of the smartest teams we've played against.
Those extra passes.
Yeah.
I mean, they will give up an open shot for a better open shot.
You don't see that a lot in college.
It is a lot of fun to watch this team.
I get the sense the fans are having fun.
We do need to talk about that crowd.
Not good.
Because I do wonder about that.
But we'll do that.
But overall, very, very positive start.
859-2-80-22-87.
Text machine, 772-7-4.
Let me know what you thought about the game last night
and the team so far.

And in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience

I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark.
Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't
realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on Earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

American soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming. Ramers sending on the Ernie
Stewart the chip. I'm Tad Ramos. I'm Tom Boe. On our podcast, inside American soccer, you'll get the real
storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about balligan. I'm not worried about
McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions.
to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially
a great run into the semifinals.
The World Cup is almost here.

What's up, fam, it's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is a
about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.

There are times when the mind becomes a difficult place to live.
This is David Eagleman with the Inner Cosmos podcast,

we're dedicating a series to understanding the mind when it struggles.
I'm joined by doctors, researchers, and those with lived experience.
We'll talk with singer-songwriter Jewel about anxiety.
I started living in my car, and then my car got stolen.
I was shoplifting. I was having panic attacks.
I was agoraphobic.
and making it through hardship.
To be present is a learned skill,
and it's hard to be present.
We'll talk with John Nelson about clinical depression
and the brain implant that saved his life.
What I learned is that procedure made me happy
because I'm disease-free.
And we'll talk with leading experts

Welcome back, Tegu Sports Radio.
I've just seen here on the big screen they're saying that the Colts are benching Anthony Richardson.
I think I called that one, and I think so to Drew.
I never understood me.
I would go on ESP in the summer before that draft.
I'd be like, why is everybody wanting to draft Anthony Richardson at the top?
I was like he wasn't good in college.
He wasn't even close to good.
And then like now that he's already benched, they're better off of Joe Flacko.
Yeah.
That's it.
Come on.
I couldn't believe, like you were saying, they drafted him.
I'm a coltator, so I make fun of them anyway.
But when they were just considering him, I couldn't believe it.
I was rooting for it.
I mean, having watched what Kentucky did to him and what he didn't do at Florida at all,
his whole career, you thought he was going to leave that franchise?
He was never good. He was never good at any point.
He's a combine star. He probably did well in the bench press or whatever,
ran fast, and then they thought he could lead the Colts.
So as soon as you bench a guy in the second year like that, it's not a good sign for him.
Good for Flacco, though. He woped my Titans earlier.
I wish that Richardson had played instead of Flacco.
You know, I gave you that little nugget this summer.
You gave me a nugget?
Yeah, I said when I came back from the Colts preseason game and said,
Flacco's a better quarterback.
But that wasn't a nugget.
That was just your opinion.
Yeah, I was trying to prepare you for your NFL show.
But, I mean, that's not stupid.
You just had sources say that Blacko should be the starter quarterback anyway.
That's not what a source is in the grand scheme thing.
What about the crowd last night?
We knew during the pregame that wasn't going to be a great crowd.
It was okay at the bar, but it wasn't a normal crowd in terms of amount of people.
So I kind of thought, I wonder about the game tonight.
And it was, I mean, that's a low crowd.
Why do you think?
I go to every game.
That's one of the worst crowds I can remember.
I was pretty surprised.
I was surprised by Wesleyan.
Wesleyan was better.
I still thought that would be good, though.
And then this one was bad.
You know, they have us media.
We're up there with the air ducts now.
And that end zone in the upper level was completely empty.
But just a lot of people just didn't go.
Like their tickets were just empty.
I do want to say, if you have season tickets and you don't want to use them,
give them to me and let me give them to people.
Yeah.
I mean, like the amount, when I give them to people, like, a lot of,
of those people never get to go.
Right.
And they are so, just the guy that came yesterday and picked them up.
You saw how happy you were.
Like, if you're just not going to use them at all, like, I understand if you sell them,
that's fine.
But if you're not going to use them, don't just let them sit empty.
Like, I'll give them away.
But anyway, go ahead.
It's amazing how we can, this restaurant's kind of barometer what we think the crowd's
going to be like either at Krogerfield or Rup Arena.
And it was a little down yesterday.
So do you think it's a little Auburn hangover a little bit?
I think it's just a bigger picture of you and UK needs to adjust to this reality.
You have to do more to get people to get out of their house now than you used to.
The combination of more ways for people to have entertainment, this is something everybody that puts on entertainment live knows.
It is harder to get people to do things that they can do often.
They'll go spend $10 million to see Taylor Swift or whatever, right?
But there's a difference between I could go see one of the 25 home games.
I don't know if I'm going to go to this one.
And that's why you got to make those events so good.
But it is a little concerning because I kind of thought the beginning of the Pope era,
just the energy would just take over.
And I think the Wesleyan game was actually, if you compare it to past crowds, good.
But this one was not.
And I kind of thought first real home game next Monday, packed to the rafters.
It's going to be wild.
And I sort of wonder, Drew, if that's going to be the case.
Yeah, it was concerning.
I do have to shout out my Rock Castle Middle School Rockets.
They were sitting with me up there.
They had practice last night, but the chorus took over the gym so they couldn't practice.
So the coach said, let's go to Lexington.
They just went to Rupp Arena and UK moved them from the upper bowl to the lower bowl.
But those were my seatmates at the top for a few minutes.
It's pretty cool.
They couldn't practice because the choir took over the gym and they made the trip to Lexington.
The choir.
The choir's always getting in the way of stuff.
Outside of them, not a lot of people on that.
But do you think that's going to change as the year goes on?
I mean, I am a little surprised.
I kind of thought there be, when you think about what the initial thing was like, the press conference,
I am a little surprise.
I'm a little surprised because there was so much excitement.
You wanted to go to Pope's first game than the Westland Exhibition game.
And the crowd wasn't, it wasn't full, but it was a good crowd.
Then to have that drastic of a drop off last night,
I think it'll pick back up Mondays be the first real game.
I just think UK has to just acknowledge that the days that you just open the door and it's full,
it's not going to be like that anymore.
You've got to make the experience.
It'll be full for all the big games.
But if you want it to be full for Minnesota State Mancato and Wright State,
if you're going to insist on playing those games, which it looks like they will,
then you've got to make it an experience or you're going to get a situation like you had last night.
And even though tickets are easy to come by, it's still expensive.
It's $27 to park there now.
The guy in front of me, it was him.
It's $27 to park.
I walk by that sign and roll my eyes.
I don't pay that.
I've parked down the street.
$27.
The guy in front of me, him and his daughter at the concession stand, just listening,
he paid $44 for them to just get kind of basic things.
But I don't know what UK can do about that.
Because a lot of those are private lots.
I will tell you where I live, there is not very far away free.
There's like a street of free parking.
And people start parking there at like 2.30.
I met a guy one day who parked there, walked back to KS Bar at 8 and then walked back to the game.
Really?
Because it's free right there.
Years ago, I used to do that before pregame.
Now I have a spot with the radio station, but I used to set a car down there early in the day.
But that is like, I don't know, man, they got to, you got to figure it out because the right state and buck now.
So Wright State is the first game and the bucknells on a Saturday afternoon.
So like that is, you know, those are times that you would think, okay, this will be good.
I mean, they basically quit playing the Sunday games.
Remember they always used to play on Sundays and they got bad crowds?
And I think they realized, all right, maybe we don't play on Sunday nights anymore.
And they moved away from the, it was Friday.
Sunday.
Well, still, we have some Friday.
We have a couple Friday.
I don't have a Friday games before a Saturday home game is not a bad idea.
I hated Sundays.
Most people, I mean, that's a NFL too.
A lot of people, that's a couch day.
Who's up first, Shannon?
Let's go to Thomas.
Thomas, go ahead, Thomas.
Yeah, last night during the game, it's just so refreshing to see this team get out on
on the court, basketball season, so on here.
I believe it was when they went on that run at the end, towards the end of the
first half, Jack, on the radio broadcast.
said, man, this is just such a fun style of basketball to watch and see on the court.
And another quick comment in the years past where it just become so hard to rely on somebody to come in off the bench that could get you a shot,
I feel like there's so many guys on the bench this year that can just come in and knock down a shot.
That's true.
What you guys make about that.
I think you're exactly right.
I mean, first of all, I do think this is crazy fun to watch.
You know, the only hesitation, I appreciate the call.
The only hesitation I have is okay.
What happens if we miss a lot?
But I do think they're fun to watch.
And I also love the fact that there's 12 guys that can play, you know.
Mario and I have a joke because he doesn't think Almanor's good, and I think he's really good.
Oh, Mario doesn't?
No, that's a joke.
I'm kidding.
I was very skeptical about Allmanor.
And so now when he plays well, Mario texts me every time he scores.
But there's a guy that might be your 11th man and that you could go to,
and the first game he made four threes.
So, like, that is a really refreshing thing to have.
Jack made a comment last night during the broadcast.
I got to stop thinking what's a good shot and a bad shot
because these guys are shooting threes three or four feet behind the arc
and hitting them.
So he's like, I got to get out of my mind.
That's a good shot for this team.
I think the good shots for this team is just if you're open.
If you're open.
If you're open, fire it.
Because why not?
The only three I don't want to see is Brandon Garrison doesn't need to be shooting.
Oh, for three.
I'm sorry.
But anyone else?
Let's have at it.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J.
He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.
All right.
I'm going to reach you the whiskey thief.
We need the election to be over, tweet of the day.
All right.
Whiskey thief, you can get your bourbon.
By the way, thank you to the mailman Woody, who,
brought us cookies from European Delights.
Is that the name of the place?
Yes.
It says it's out of Brandon Crossing.
Shout out to European Delights.
I like Europe and I like Delights.
And you combine those into good cookies and I'm for it.
Really good.
This is the election needs to be over to be over tweeted day.
Matt, I think crowds are down at the UK games due to overall costs of everything.
I'm a registered Democrat, but a Trump fan.
I think if Trump wins later in the season, people will feel more comfortable coming to the game
because of their finance.
You need the election to be over, my man.
All right?
You need the election to be over.
Like if we're now excusing the Kentucky Minnesota state thing
and you think the change is going to happen by January,
you know what?
Just turn the computer off, turn the television off, talk to your family,
and just be ready for the election.
I do have a question for you.
Please, I like your questions.
You are the average man in many ways.
I'm so so thankful.
You included me in that Twitter feed about politics.
When does it end?
I mean, it doesn't end.
It keeps going.
It doesn't end because here's the problem.
It got so much engagement that Elon's new thing has promoted it to where now people,
like it's not just people who follow me.
You know how you have the following and the 4U page?
Yes.
I hate the 4U page.
Me too.
But now my tweet has shown up on the 4U page,
which means lots of people are seeing.
tell Ryan Lemon who you would have vote for,
so you're getting complete strangers now.
I can't even get on Twitter to look what they're saying about the game last night
because it was all Trump this, huh?
Harris that, right, right, right, right.
Notty, Nazi, Nazi.
Maybe you're on a different feed.
No, no.
You're for you.
Yeah, you're for, I mean.
Yeah, some people will write me and go,
why's there all this porn on my feet?
And I'm like, there's not porn on my feed, man.
I don't know where you're.
Elon wants me to watch a lot of films.
fights, I guess because I can't look away.
This morning I wake up with my cup of coffee.
I just watched three people brawn outside of gas station because I forgot to flip over
to a following.
I'll tell you what's scary is the way TikTok seems to read my mind.
TikTok, I will literally have a conversation with my friend and be like, you know what?
I'm thinking about eating Thai food tonight.
And then get on TikTok, Thai food tips for you.
And it's like, wait a minute.
But I didn't type in the word.
You've been listening to me?
TikTok, it might be implanted in my brain because even whatever I'm thinking about shows up on the video.
I don't think that's just TikTok.
There's been times where I'm about to search something.
And it always predict texts what's most popular.
But it'll be something obscure that I've not said out loud.
It's like, do you want to search for this?
And it's like, how do you know that?
And then once you get in a little thing, you can't get out.
So right now, if I hear one more person say, hey, it's Domingo.
If I see that one more time, Shannon, from Saturday Night Live,
but the Bachelorette party thing, the song, you know what I'm talking about?
No.
Well, then you're not on my TikTok.
Do you know what I'm talking about?
I'm just watching people.
How do you all not have the guy singing his name is Domingo?
That's your algorithm.
We all have our own algorithm.
I don't need to hear any more about Domingo.
And I even like that guy, and I don't want to hear it anymore.
All right.
Seems like none of you know what I'm talking about.
Who's up next?
Thomas.
Thomas, go ahead, Thomas.
Great game last night.
Super exciting.
I can't believe it wasn't as crowded because it's fun to watch.
It is fun to watch.
I was surprised at Trevor Noah.
I get a lot more playing time last night.
Yeah, I did.
And he played well.
I thought, you know, a lot of people, myself included, maybe thought his weakness would be defense.
He held his own out there defensively.
He did.
I think he earned the minutes in the Kentucky Wesleyan game.
He earned those minutes last night.
That's why they kept him out there.
Yeah.
But I liked it.
Excuse me, sir.
I think, I think Kerr came and took Perry's minutes,
but Noah, I think, stepped up because Amari was out and used his minutes.
And Colin Chandler still looks rusty,
but he had a thunderous dump right there at the end.
That dude can jump.
Yeah, Colin Chandler's one of these guys.
I appreciate the call.
We're going to have a game where he goes 0 for 7,
and then he'll come up and score 14 in the next one, Dr.
I think that's going to be just what his season is like.
Yeah, he had some flashy passes last night too.
His best that we've seen of him was really in the blue-white game when he was shooting it well and had a nasty dunk on Garrison's head
But he's another guy you just have confidence in him and he's just going to get better as time goes on after having a couple years off from basketball
How did your post game? It was a lot of fun
It did really well he did really I don't ever listen unless
I'm on it because I don't want it but I did want to listen to your monologue
Because I was like I'm cheering you on and I thought first of all I thought you did a very good job on that
I also hope you take a second to realize how much better you've gotten on the, like, I don't know if you could have done that five years ago, like a monologue like that.
You could have hosted the show, but like a just a straight monologue.
And you did a really good job.
You engaged Billy at the right time.
So I thought you were great.
Billy was very good with helping me through it with breaks and things.
I kind of had a lot of, I was a little scatter of my monologue because I didn't really go in with a plan.
So it was like a just my brain was full of random things.
So I'm almost like, this.
Oh, that.
You're not making an argument in court.
Like, it's okay to be a little scattered.
The caller's made it the best part, though.
I mean, I enjoyed the monologue talking to Billy.
We had two people named Kyle Macy called at the same time.
At the same time?
Yeah, back to back.
We had a guy named after Kyle Macy, then a guy named after Kyle Macy.
So we had Kyle Macy one and Kyle Macy two.
I thought you did a good job.
I thought I was good, too.
A lot of the callers said, I want to be a part of your first post-game show.
We made a lot of memories.
We did.
Did you?
Made a lot of memories?
Never forget your first.
I'll remember everyone that called in.
Yeah.
Doing good, cat daddy, all the Kyle Macy's.
Yeah, well, good.
I'm glad.
Who's up next?
Bluegrass.
Bluegrass.
How are you?
859-280-2287?
You sort of stole a little bit of my thunder.
I was going to call it first of all and give the flowers to Drew, like the rapid reaction,
like that's grade A material with Mullet guy and the post game.
Like, big up to you, Drew.
Thank you very much.
It was a long day, but a fun day.
And, well, I'm a good.
a little bit conflicted because I did watch Arkansas and I did watch Duke and I see the
athleticism and you know where I'm going with this but like this style is you know I love the style
but are we going to be able to defend outside of well I you know are we quick enough are we
well let's let's say like this okay so let me ask you if before the Kentucky Oakland game
I said to you is Oakland going to be able to defend us what would your answer have been
that's a laugh
Yeah, no way, but they still won.
Right?
Like they still won.
So I don't think if Arkansas were to get the, just to use Arkansas's example,
if they were to get the game in us where we are going one-on-one with them,
athlete, a athlete, they will beat us.
But if we get the game where we're playing our style,
getting up and down the court, getting shots off,
pressing them to where, I don't mean press, like full court press,
but pressing them to where they get flustered,
and then they get, think about all the problems we would have down late in the shot clock,
getting a shot off, yeah, then of course we can beat them.
So, you know, player by player, or Duke, you know, is Duke better than us?
Sure, Arkansas, probably.
But as a team, I don't see why we can't beat them or be better.
Well, the whole style is, like, if you would have put blue uniforms on Arkansas,
it looked like us the last 15 years.
It's like it really did.
If you put our uniforms on some of the teams that have given us hell over the last few years,
it would have looked like our team this year, you know?
Absolutely.
So I appreciate the call.
Do you agree with that?
Yeah, we're now seeing modern basketball, the way basketball is played now.
We haven't seen it here.
We're getting a chance to see it first hand.
And just wait for a year or two when we're playing this style with great athletes and great players.
Because that's coming if you look at the recruiting.
We don't necessarily have it this year.
Like I said, I'm not sure we have a pro on the team.
Jackson might be a second round pick.
Maybe Garrison one day develops into it.
Maybe Chandler develops one.
But I'm not sure we have a professional basketball player.
But that doesn't mean you can't be a great college basketball team.
Yeah, I mean, have you watched the NCAA tournament the last few years?
There's been a lot of guys that aren't going on in the NBA that have been winning games.
And Robinson, with his NBA outlook, he came back to school because they told him to work on his three-point shot.
No, it's only been two games.
Is that what they said to him?
I'd say so far he's got some pretty good tape to take back to them
when this season is.
See, I would have thought, man, that's one of his strengths, you know?
It seems like really, I got two games to judge him.
But I still feel like we haven't even seen near the best of him.
That guy, I think, is.
We still haven't seen him like going to the basket, all the things he used to be really good at.
Yeah.
We haven't even really seen him do that stuff yet.
That's what makes me excited about him.
I think, you know, we haven't seen his best game yet.
We just seen him shoot the lights out so far.
Court physical therapy, you know, we just got two months left for you to use your yearly benefits.
If you have already spent your deductible, then why not get health insurance?
Why not get physical therapy now to get rid of your aches and pains and it won't cause you anything?
That's right.
Go to court.com.
It's KORT.com before the holidays.
Get yourself worked out.
Yeah.
Make sure you're feeling fine.
Go to court.com.
That's KORT.com.
We got mailman Woody in the house.
We got European delights in the house.
We got Mario.
We're going to have wings here in 15 minutes.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about,
wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person
while you hear on earth,

Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have
have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court licking his fingers while he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

I'm not worried about Policic.
I'm not worried about Balagan.
I'm not worried about McKinney.
My only concern is what happens in the back.
The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us.

That is the point of the show.
I'm just going to remind you.
I have watched some Survivor.
I obviously haven't watched enough.
Did people not like it?
Like what was...
Yeah.
Just because we...
Yeah.
We'll be recapping the big conclusion in the 50th season, from the final attempts at gameplay,

text machine 7772, 7754.
One person writes, Matt, you have always said that you have to have a pro to win the title.
If we don't have a pro, how are we going to win the title?
Well, we probably won't this year.
Let's be real.
First of all, we've only won eight titles ever.
But no, you know, I think it's going to be hard to win the title because I don't,
I do think you have to have a pro.
I can't remember the last team that didn't have a pro.
But there have been a lot of teams make the championship game and not have a pro.
been quite a few actually.
Lamont Butler
made the championship
day.
Two years ago
made the championship game
did not have a pro.
So we can still be
really, really good.
And, you know,
maybe one of these guys
develops into a pro
by helping us to a championship run
and becomes a pro because of that.
So, you know, I think that first
Yukon team, I'm not sure anyone
on that team early in the year,
people would have thought was a pro,
but people became pros from it.
Last year's team they thought had pros.
They were actually picked towards the bottom of their conference the year they won that first time.
Yeah, I don't think that year people thought, now they ended up.
I think a couple of guys make a pro run.
So, yeah, but we can still be very good without that.
Yeah, I haven't heard anybody predict a championship for this team.
We can predict a lot of wins and a good season.
Yes.
We're going to do ask anything Wednesday in the second hour, but here's a good question.
I have a question for you all, and I think you four will know the best answer.
Who is the most famous person in America during a time period that might be unknown or you never hear from now?
The example I would use is Monica Lewinsky.
Monica Lewinsky, there was a time that every single person in America knew who they were, who she was, but now you never hear her name.
That's a good question.
It's a really good question.
So who's somebody, who's the most, the person that would have gotten the most attention for a period of time,
that you have no idea what they're doing now.
Monica Lewinsky's a great example.
Like, everybody knows Monica Lewinsky or did.
But when's the last time you've seen her?
I'm off for you, Paige.
I got a couple.
I got a couple.
Okay.
Lorraine Bobbitt.
That's a good one.
Yeah.
That's a really good one.
We need to track her down.
We need to track her down.
She can't be running loose out there.
Can you think of any, anybody?
One on the sports side.
Okay.
How about Steve Bartman?
Steve Bartman.
I mean, he got a ton of attention during that world's in.
Yeah, everybody would know who's Steve Bartman from that.
Like, you heard his name.
And you talk about a guy who became an absolute recluse.
Yeah.
The first one it popped in my head.
People think she lives in Winchester's Tanya Harding.
Tanya Harding's a really good one.
Like, when's the like, everybody in the world knew who Tanya?
Well, Nancy Kerrig.
Yeah, Nancy Kerrig.
When's the last time you heard Nancy Kerrig?
Jeff Galooley.
I don't know if they're funny
deep cut
Now you're going into like
the B and C level players on that story
You kind of have to be notorious for doing something bad
Because no one's going to keep so it's like in that moment
You're a villain
Nancy Kerrigan would be an example
Or the victim of the person doing something bad
That everybody knew
Joey Buttafouco
Joey Buttafouca is a really good one
Basically these are all like 90s tabloid stories
Who shot him? What was that girl's name?
Who shot Joey Buttafuco?
Mary Joe Petrino.
I don't think that was her.
Do not put Mary Jo Petrino.
It's something like Mary Jo Perino, though, isn't it like?
Fisher.
Amy Fisher?
Yeah, but there was another woman.
Now, Amy Fisher was Joey Buttafuka.
Yeah.
It was like Mary Joe Paterno.
I keep wanting to say Perino.
Don't you put Mary Jo.
No, am I wrong?
You know I'm not.
that was maybe a teacher that liked to marry joe leterno leterno she had like a 15 year old boy
friend yes and then they tried to kill her husband right well they got caught in the car together
yeah she was i think they tried to kill her husband right mary joe leterno yeah so this is sure it was
it was not burrino i'm pretty sure it was mary joe barino that's who ryan worked with all right
if you have an answer there 7772 i worked with her too 7772 7754 who's next
We got Myron and Minnesota.
Oh, look who this is.
Myron Metcalf, skip the game.
How are you?
How are y'all doing?
What happened to you?
I'm doing well. I'm doing well, man.
Yeah, after a rough loss for our Minnesota state mancato team.
But, you know, our heads were holding them high.
You know what I mean?
There were probably eight files that weren't called that should have been.
That's neither here nor there.
It was a wrestle.
I'm not here to make excuses.
Yeah.
Not here to make excuses.
But, you know.
So first of all, we did have a lot of people come up and ask us if you were going to be here.
Oh, yes.
Did you feel guilty not coming and seeing your Kentucky fans?
A little bit.
I mean, probably because you told everybody I was abandoning them and I was going to come.
That probably didn't help.
But, yeah, I wanted to be there.
Couldn't make it happen.
But I was there in spirit.
And I was glad our guys.
I hope you had a good time and playing in a historic arena.
No, didn't get to win, but you know what I mean?
We did our best.
And that's all that matters in life.
It is all that matters.
So you're, in addition to being co-hosts with me, you're an ad-you're ESPN's
National College Basketball Reporter.
So where do you see this Kentucky team this year?
I mean, I think the potential's there, right?
I think I heard you talk about not having a pro.
I mean, I think from like mid-February to like early April, a bunch of guys who aren't pros
become pros, right?
So I think Jackson Robinson, you know, what are the NBA teams telling him when he entered the draft?
He's got to be able to hit three if he did last night.
If he becomes a consistent shooter, he's certainly a pro.
But I just think this is a team where they have a system that, you know, it's going to be hard to stop
because they have so many shooters and they attack you from everywhere.
Can they defend at a high level?
I think that'll be the biggest question mark about their potential, but there's a lot there to like.
There is a lot there to like.
Now, are you excited that ESPN finally decides?
decided we could have a podcast that people could subscribe to.
Yeah, I don't know if I had a word of my tweet, ESPN,
finally thought we were good enough to have a podcast or whatever you should.
I don't know if that was the proper way to approach this,
but it has been cool to see a lot of the buzz.
Like, I don't know anything about podcasts.
So, I mean, it's kind of crazy to see a number like that,
fourth or fifth or whatever we were.
That's like, it doesn't feel real.
You know what I mean?
Well, let me ask you, I think Ryan, I make him nervous.
And Ryan is the person closest to you in terms of having to deal with this.
Myron gets nervous because he always thinks I kind of push the envelope with the ESPN,
and he's always worried I'm going to get us fired.
Yes.
Ryan, you're kind of like that with KSR, so maybe you can commiserate with him.
I'm telling you, Myron, I know what you're talking about.
Or are I heart bosses?
Like, some of your ESPN bosses, you know, he's not afraid to, like, you know,
not just get in that gray area, cross into the black area where he shouldn't be.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, Matt's like, you see that cliff over there?
Let's keep walking towards.
We're not going to fall off.
No, I know, we're not.
Like, listen, we can, it's going to be okay.
It's not even that far off a fall.
Like, that's how Matt approaches it like, right?
So for me, I think it's a little bit, it's a lot different, right?
Because I think Matt is like, you know, ESP and whatever.
For me, I need heat in Minnesota.
So that's what I'm always actually worried about more than anything.
You always say on the air, Myron, don't get me fine.
That's what you're always worried about.
Yeah, because, you know, utilities matter up here, man.
You know, it's about to be about 22 degrees, you know.
So I got to keep the lights on.
Well, hopefully you will get to Lexington for a game this year.
Will you promise the folks that you'll make a trip at some point?
Well, I'm going to Atlanta for the first year.
The candidate is classic.
Yeah, definitely.
I'll probably be in Lexington.
All right.
Well, Amnard and I both will be in Chicago, not this weekend, but next week.
For the Bears game?
For the Bears game?
So if you're in Chicago, you ought to come find us that Sunday for the Bears game.
They play, I don't know who they call it.
Scotty Pism, come find us.
That's right.
Hey, Myron, good to see you, and congrats on your team getting to play.
All right, Charles.
Thanks.
There you go.
How about that surprise?
I didn't even know he was going to do that.
He went all summer as Black Jones.
He was in your substitute for you.
I'll tell you somebody that I haven't seen a long time.
I like this.
Pat O'Brien.
Did he die?
I don't think so.
Oh, okay.
Why, do you think he did die?
Maybe.
I don't think he died.
Did he die?
I'll look.
All right.
We'll update after the break.
Let's talk.
