Starting point is 00:03:53 Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Hour number two, KSR Radio, 859-9-2-80-20. 2287. A lot of strong reactions to that last segment. Wasn't the best call we've ever had. That wasn't the call of the day. But that's all right. You know, people, it's, I'm amazed how many people call and say their band directors yelled at them. Really? I have a lot of people going, Matt, I was in a very competitive high school band. Our director would yell at us constantly. If we played the wrong note, he would scream at us. It was like the movie.
Starting point is 00:04:28 What's the name of that movie? the drummer. Are you Russian or you dragon? What is, what's the name? They had JD, one word. J.K. Rowling or what's the name? No, that's the Harry Potter.
Starting point is 00:04:38 What's the guy? He's the ball guy. Oh, my goodness. I've seen this movie. Oh, the drummer movie. Drumline. That's not called drumline. That's about the drummer.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Yeah, it's about the drummer. What's a guy? J.K. Rowling. Simmons and the, gosh, what's the movie? He's like, burn, right. He's a great, great drummer. Whiplash.
Starting point is 00:04:59 That is it. This guy just said the drummer movie, but it's whiplash. That's right. Yeah, I mean, I guess so. I didn't realize people, the band thing. One woman writes, I'm tougher than my husband. If a coach yelled at my husband, my husband would cry, I'd smack the coach right in the face. But there's a lot of that.
Starting point is 00:05:19 That's my whiskey thief text of the day. These women don't need, they don't need you. They got it. That's why the caller, he may not know a whole lot of women from the 606. They're a lot tougher than most of the men. Yeah, well, I didn't see any of this going in that direction. Did you watch the World Series? Loved it.
Starting point is 00:05:38 I watched it. It was a great game. I've watched most every day. How's that guy not cover first? I mean, Garrett Cole's like one of the best players. How does he not cover? Is it just a brain fart? Like you just like in the moment, don't think about it?
Starting point is 00:05:50 Yeah, you do. I think even late in the game, they, you know, had two pickoff attempts at first base. The guy did the third, so you automatically get second. It's these mental lapses. What about Aaron? judge just drops a foul ball? Like what happened? Comedy of errors for a team with their back against the wall in the World Series.
Starting point is 00:06:06 I was happy for the Dodgers for Freddie Freeman, for our guy, Lonnie we lost last week, and then Walker Bueller coming in to end it was a bit of a surprise. Two big things. I'm glad you said that. First of all, Lonnie Demery was a lifelong Dodgers fan, passed away just a couple of weeks ago. He started liking them in Brooklyn. He did, yeah, because of Jackie Robinson. Yeah, he liked them because of Jackie Robinson.
Starting point is 00:06:29 and he passes away and then they win. So I was thinking about Lonnie's got to be happy up in heaven watching. And then, listen, I love a little Kentucky Louisville rivalry. I like it. They are rivals. Not only that, I want them to lose every game. With that said, the World Series ended with a dude from Lexington pitching to a dude catching from Louisville.
Starting point is 00:06:52 That's kind of cool, right? That's kind of cool. Dude from Lexington throws a strike to a dude from Louisville. To win the World Series, that's kind of neat. I love that what happened. I mean, Walker Bielers, Eastern Little League, Ecton Park, right over here on the other side of Kroger Field. And Will Smith is from Kentucky Country Day High School. And they end up as the pitcher and the catcher for the final out of the world series.
Starting point is 00:07:17 How cool is that? Very cool. I thought that was really, really neat. Did Will Smith play at Louisville? Yes, he did. Okay. First round draft pick. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:25 So, anyway, that was really, really neat. It was a good World Series. It was only five games, but still I think it was good for record ratings. Yes. Because it was the Yankees and the Dodgers. Yankees and the Dodgers. You want to have the, for all the talk about whatever, Yankees, Dodgers, that's still kind of a cool thing.
Starting point is 00:07:44 We didn't really talk about the guy, the fan, that reached into the Dodgers glove. He was banned from Game 5 of the World Series, but he has season tickets there right on the line. And the Yankees are going to decide whether or not they let him. back in. Do you think they should let the guy Shannon back in who reached into Moogie Betts glove, those two do? No, I mean, that wasn't just an accident. He went all in on it. And his buddy tried to grab Mooky Bet's other arm and pull him up into the stand. So no, both those guys, you're out of there. He said I was protecting my territory. He was basically like, as a Yankees fan, it was my duty to keep Moogie Betts from catching that. Do you agree with that? Well, he said,
Starting point is 00:08:24 we've always talked about if it comes our way, we've got to D up for the Yankeesies, like play defense. No, you don't. Eat your hot dog and drink your beer and watch. It's not a Savannah Banana's game. You don't get to catch the ball on the route, you know? Not to overreact, but if he had like snap Mookie's wrist or something, you cannot, I can't believe ESPN is kind of celebrating him a little bit because you cannot encourage fans. The announcer kind of celebrated him in the moment. The play-by-play guy, and John Smoltz quickly shot him down, but the play-by-play guy was kind of like, oh, that dude's, you know. You can't grab a player. And of course, did it surprise you that he was Gronk's high school for it. Oh, I didn't see that part of the story.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Yeah, so Gronk was on some television show. This tells you how much Gronk prepares to go on TV. Gronk was on a television show yesterday, and they were like, hey, Grock, what do you think about this thing that happened in New York? And he's watching, and he goes, wait a minute, this is first I've ever seen it. I went to high school with that dude. He was like, that dude's crazy. No way. He's like, that's exactly what I would expect him to do. That dude's wild. First of all, clearly, he just goes on TV and they're like, just have at it. But secondly, he ended up going to high school with the guy. You know, those guys knew.
Starting point is 00:09:34 You know the rules. You can't interfere with a ball and play. You can't sure grab an opposing player. So I would not, I would take his season tickets away. Maybe sit him up in the upper deck if he wants season tickets. But you cannot let him sit back in that spot again. You can. Yeah, he showed no remorse.
Starting point is 00:09:49 He would do it again if the ball was in over there again. He showed no remorse whatsoever. at all. 859-28027. Before I go, the phones quickly, Bronny scored his first points last night. Do you care? I got to admit a little bit,
Starting point is 00:10:03 you know, just because it's a cool story that dad and son get to play a little bit. But, okay, you got your photo off, you got your two points, get him back down. Get out, right? Let's just do a little UK rookies update.
Starting point is 00:10:15 Dillingham hasn't played. Like, just not play. Is he hurt? Is there something going on? No, he's on them. He's just not, they're not putting him in. Reeves got sent to the G League. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:24 played a couple games, got sent to the G. League. That's normal. I think they kind of said that was going to happen. Probably the surprises that Reed Shepherd hasn't played quite as much as people thought. I mean, he's like four for 12, but he's getting like eight minutes a game. He played a lot in the first game, but then less, as it
Starting point is 00:10:40 goes, they got a ton of players. I assume as injuries and stuff happen, Reed will get in more, but a little slower start for our UK rookies. Yeah, I think the Carl trade where they ended up getting Dante Diven And how do you print?
Starting point is 00:10:55 Devin Chino. I think that hurt Rob a little bit. I think it took a lot of his minutes because he's playing well for the bucks. Reed, I don't know that roster as well and haven't watched to know what's keeping him out. Sin goon. That's sin goon dude. Yeah, we're still going to see plenty of Reed as the year goes on. They really like him to.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Yeah, he's, you know, we'll see with all of them. I think they'll all end up playing some as the year goes on. But Dilling him not getting in at all, I will say, has surprised me a little bit. I thought he'd at least get some. Yeah, that's the biggest surprise. surprised to me because he played so well, you know, in their summer league game, like, well, you're going to get him on the floor a little bit, give him a little bit of run. Who's up next, Shannon?
Starting point is 00:11:30 Let's go to Travis. Travis, go ahead, Travis. Hey, Matt. You heard from retired ref, which was an awful take, by the way. I'm retired principal. So I've got to dealt with these coaching issues, you know, in the past. I have always been adamant that the coach is a hired professional, just like any other teacher or employee in our building. You and I agree wholeheartedly on this. I have said many,
Starting point is 00:12:00 many times, we would not allow that from a math teacher, from a science teacher. We would not allow a custodian to talk to a kid like that. We wouldn't allow a lunchroom worker to talk to a kid like that or a group of kids. And it's just completely unacceptable in a high school setting. Now, I could live with maybe, you know, meeting with the teacher or the coach and saying, you know, this is unacceptable and the future just cannot happen again. And if things improved, you know, I don't think he has to be fired, you know, for that one time. But it's just, it's, their coaches are no different than any other employee in the district. That is unacceptable in a setting like that. I'm with you.
Starting point is 00:12:45 I appreciate the call. And I don't, and I feel like, you know, listen. All right, so let's take a professional environment. Do I think that people can get angry and yell at each other in a professional environment? Yes. Do I think that like, you know, can it happen? Yes. Should it?
Starting point is 00:13:05 No. If it's regular, I think you can't do that. And I know that's changed, but I don't think that's the worst thing in the world that it's changed. Right? Like the problem for me is not so much the yelling, because I've yelled. The problem is the power discrepancy. It's somebody with all the power screaming at somebody without the power. And I just don't, I know this is what it's always been like.
Starting point is 00:13:33 But if you just take it outside of the world, there is nowhere else on earth. We let people treat each other like we let coaches treat not just players, but refs, the media. coaches are like the only people on earth that you're allowed to be the biggest obnoxious person in the world and everyone's just supposed to take it. Because there's the word coach in front of your name. Yeah, I mean, you're just, you can't, like, you can't do that. Like you said, you do it in the corporate world. You get sent to HR. You're in the corporate world, unless you're the CEO, you're fired.
Starting point is 00:14:11 And even with the CEO, you might get in trouble. Right. Like, you just can't do that. I hear you. When you lay it out like that, it does sound crazy, but it's our society we've had a long time. I mean, coaches have been cussing and yelling since we've had sports. One person writes, Matt, do you think part of it is because people like the presidents now cuss? Yeah, I think that's part of it. Not just, now, Trump's the worst defender, but Biden cusses, walls cusses.
Starting point is 00:14:40 When did that start happen? Like, when I, you know, people didn't use, like, presidents and didn't use to cuss. You couldn't cuss on TV. You couldn't cuss on songs on the radio. Now you can't turn on a show on their cuss. Trump said the F word once, but the S word, a lot of them say. And they'll just say it like it's normal. It didn't used to be like that.
Starting point is 00:15:02 No. And I'm not a Puritan. Don't get me wrong. I don't care what people do. But I do think, like, when you're in a setting, like, we can't cuss on here. Why should the rules for random radio host be hard? than what the president should do, you know? I know when you say it all like that, it all makes sense.
Starting point is 00:15:23 It's just the world we live in, though. Yeah, who's next? Weird answer, but Cam. Cam. Go ahead, Cam. What up, guys? I am running out of time here. I'm on my lunch break at school. But I just want to talk to you guys, man.
Starting point is 00:15:38 These kids nowadays, they're, I'm only 33, but they're a lot different, even from when I was in high school, just, you know, 15 to 20 years ago. meaning like what? And so my dad, he was in the military. He was a coach, very hard-nosed man. A lot of my coaches from sports were similar to him. But I noticed when I was in high school, like I graduated 2008. I could see the shift when I was in high school of kids
Starting point is 00:16:09 not being able to accept that type of hard-nosed coaching, which is strange that I could see that. But I saw it up in when I got into college, thought into underclassmen and it just slowly has gotten worse over the last decade. But is it worse? So I kind of have to marry Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:16:26 To marry like being hard but like not being as loud because they will just immediately shut down. So you have to like blend being assertive and not be as aggressive. It's really weird man. You kind of feel like
Starting point is 00:16:43 a little mental sometimes because you want to yell but you like to look like you're in control. Yeah. No, I appreciate it. And that's another thing. I don't think yelling, I think that's a good point by him. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:16:55 I don't think yelling is as effective now. Not even close. Because I think, like, when you were a kid, if somebody yelled at you, it either scared you or maybe motivated you. Yeah, you would say, yes, sir. Yeah, a lot of people now would be like, well, blank you. I thought my middle name was, damn it, because all I heard was, Ryan, damn it.
Starting point is 00:17:15 Ryan, damn it. Thought your middle name was damn. Yep. Well, all right. I remember, I mean, you used to say, if you said, damn, like, that was bad. You couldn't say it on the radio? There's still a couple words that I now say that when my mom's around, I feel bad. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Like, I, I, that respect you feel for her. There's a hand. My mom doesn't like when I say sucks. Like, she will, I can see on her face. She doesn't like if I say that. I had a seventh grade teacher. Now, he wouldn't do it to many people. He would do it to me, usually because I was cutting up, but he would cuss with me.
Starting point is 00:17:49 But we had a great relationship. Maybe it's with certain kids. Maybe. Like, I can still hear some of the things he'd do, and I'd smile and get back to my work. It didn't bother me at all, but, you know, maybe people just handle it differently. UK Federal Credit Union is the official credit union of the University of Kentucky. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing.

Starting point is 00:28:48 859-2802287. Text machine 772-745254. One person writes, Matt, I think I've heard you yell at Ryan. Shouldn't you heed your own advice? Yes, I've gotten in trouble for yelling at Ryan, and I shouldn't yell at him. I always end up apologizing because it's not appropriate. And I don't think I've done that in a while. But yeah, one time when I yelled at Ryan, I got in trouble, and I should.
Starting point is 00:29:17 You shouldn't like you shouldn't do that. You always apologize. We're brothers. It happens sometime. It's different with you. Yeah, of course. It's acceptable. I was it different with Ryan.
Starting point is 00:29:28 I want to hear your rationalization here. Ryan, he's a tough guy. Oh, okay. No, no, I mean, you shouldn't do it. Like, you, I think there's, people shouldn't do that. I screw up as much as anybody. So what are your thoughts? I don't, people are going to screw up.
Starting point is 00:29:44 The question is, do you accept responsibility? You act like you didn't do anything wrong, right? I tell my boys all the time. Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody's going to make mistakes. My thing is, when you make a mistake, can you apologize and accept responsibility? What I don't like are people who will never apologize and never accept responsibility. That to me is because everybody's going to mess up.
Starting point is 00:30:02 That happens. Apologize, accept responsibility, and then just don't make that same mistake again. Did you see what the Vanderbilt coach did, Shannon, your new basketball coach. Byington. What's his name? I think it's Bigham. I haven't even heard his name pronounced. It looks like Byington to me.
Starting point is 00:30:18 So, Vandy has a basketball coach now named Bindon, which I didn't even know was a name. Mark. But Binton. Coach Bindon has said that he on the roster has listened. every player for Vanderbilt as a point guard because he said, I want all of our players playing like point guards. So he has seven footers, their point guard, the 6-1 people, their point guard. Everyone on the roster drew as a point guard because he says we're going to all play like point guards. Do you like that?
Starting point is 00:30:49 I had a good laugh for that yesterday because, I mean, if you go to Vanderbilt's official website and their official roster, it's not like something he said to press coverage. The game notes have them listed all as point guards. It's a little gimmicky, but I guess if you're Vandy, I mean, is it trying something. It feels like it's a little gimicky. Feels like a little silly. It's a little silly.
Starting point is 00:31:07 Seven-footer list is a point guard. Everybody's a point guard. It's almost like a team that all shoots three-pointers, you know? Yeah, it's almost like a cheesy group, though. It feels like a very vandy thing. Like, let's all, let's all take our nerdy glasses out and be point guards. Four years ago, when Tom Crean was still at Georgia, he listed everybody as a basketball player. I don't know if y'all remember that.
Starting point is 00:31:29 That's good. A team that included Anthony Edwards and Savere Wheeler. So you, Shannon, want your coach to be compared to Tom Crean. No. That's you guys comparing them to Tom Crean. But I mean, a team that can shoot three-point shots and all make threes. But that's different. I mean, people can shoot threes that aren't point guards.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Well, if you're a center, you're playing underneath the basket. If you're five. Okay, Cal. A lot of sinners are out shooting threes now. Okay, then you're a point guard then. So everybody's either a point guard or a center? If you're shooting threes, yeah. You're a point guard.
Starting point is 00:31:59 All right. Well, it sounds like he's bought in to the vanity coach. I'm binding in. I'm offended. It's like it's taken away what a point guard is. This is what offends you. Cussing out the kids, he's totally fine with. But calling everybody a point guard, now you've crossed the line.
Starting point is 00:32:16 I'm a little offended that he thinks that they're demeaning my position that anybody can be a point guard. No, you can't. It takes a special person to be a point guard. I guess if I am the starting point guard, I'm like, what the heck? It takes a special person. Takes a special person to be a point. That's right. Takes a very special human being.
Starting point is 00:32:34 Who's up next? Kyle. Kyle, go ahead, Kyle. Hey, good morning. Retired ref becomes retired caller starting today. Just my advice. Good idea. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:48 And I think the best example of this, we've talked about this for years, is I think we saw it maybe right before COVID, but definitely post-COVID. The kid's not responding to Cal when he yelled at him. I think that's right, yeah. I think, and we see now the gradual shift to Pope, and we've seen through the videos they've put out now. He's carried himself through the first couple exhibition games on sideline. That's not his style, I think, because he knows and he's adapted to how kids respond to coaching nowadays, and it's okay for times to change.
Starting point is 00:33:19 I totally agree with you. Let me give you a couple, and I appreciate the call. Let's use a couple of examples, not just Cal and Pope could not do it more differently. Pope is Mr. Positivity. Cal was Mr. Screaming. I think both were good guys. I think both the players really liked, but they did it differently. Go back in time.
Starting point is 00:33:40 Phil Jackson barely talked. Yeah. Scottie. He won a lot, didn't he? One of the greatest coaches ever. Won a lot. I mean, you know, Bobby Knight couldn't stop screaming. John Wooden barely spoke to.
Starting point is 00:33:53 Like there's a lot of different ways to do it, but maybe in today's world, Ryan, more people are going to have to learn to do it the Phil Jackson John Woodmark Pope way than the other way. I think that's exactly the way the world has changed. And I love how Pope, when somebody messes up, instead of yelling at him, he goes up, looks them in the eyes, face to face, and talks to him about it. And kind of, you know, it's a teaching moment at that time. Taylor Swift is in Indianapolis this weekend. Now, normally I wouldn't bring that up.
Starting point is 00:34:24 But the mayor of Indianapolis says Taylor Swift is going to bring. the city $1 billion over the course of the three days. One billion dollars. I want you to think about that. Three days of shows. This is our last shows in America. I want you to look at what the tickets are on Sunday night, which is her last thing. There are some rumors that people think like something might happen that last night.
Starting point is 00:34:55 maybe Harris shows up or something like that. But the tickets are unbelievable. Like we're talking like $10,000 for seats not even on the floor level. Wow. Wow. I mean, it's absolutely crazy. But think about that. One billion dollars for the city, Ryan, for three months.
Starting point is 00:35:27 not. That's a big number for people coming in, all the hotel rooms, all the money, all the parking, all the tickets, everything added up, merchandise sales. That's a, that's a big number. That's a crazy number, isn't it? I reserved two rooms for this weekend in India a year and a half ago, hoping we'd luck into a lottery. So I tried to get up there. It's impossible. You can't just go see Taylor Swift. Yeah, I mean, you honestly. And I believe the billion. That's, first of all, How big is that? That's like 65, 70,000 people in that place, and they sold it out for three straight nights.
Starting point is 00:36:02 I saw in Toronto, which is where she finishes the tour, that has like 75,000 people in the Skydome, and they sold out seven straight nights. That is like 500,000 people. People fly across the world because it's easier to get tickets in random countries than here. We'll take a break. Be right back.
Starting point is 00:36:25 It's KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-2802287.
Starting point is 00:36:42 Text machine, 772-745254. One person writes, Matt, my wife asked me this the other day. We've been listening to you for 10 years. She said, what do you think Matt will do? on election night. He doesn't like to wait for things. Do you think he'll watch the results? First of all, look at that guy right there.
Starting point is 00:37:04 Kyle Brent. I, so I'll probably do the same thing I did the last two times. I stayed off. I didn't watch the returns, didn't get on social media, and then at 11 o'clock, I got on, and in both cases, I felt like at 11 o'clock, by just looking at what I knew to look at, I knew what the result was going to be.
Starting point is 00:37:30 So I remember in 2016, I went down to Glasgow because Gabe was running. Yes. We went to his party, which we thought was a losing party, and then found out the next day was a victory party and one of the craziest things of all time, where they had ever change in the results overnight. And on the drive back, I looked at the early returns, and I said Trump's going to win.
Starting point is 00:37:51 Then in 2020, when the Philadelphia, of returns came in, I was like Biden's going to win. This time, I'm turning it all off. I'm going to do something else that night. And about 11 o'clock I'm going to check in. And then whatever happens,
Starting point is 00:38:08 I'm staying off my phone because people will be awful that night regardless, no matter who wins. But we might not know. I mean, I think there's a really good chance. Like in 2016, Trump won by more than people think.
Starting point is 00:38:27 And in 2020, Biden won by more than people think. I think this is going to be like right in the middle of both that. Either the polls are completely wrong and one of them's going to run away with it, or it's going to be like insanely close. And we might not know for days. So I'll look at like 11 o'clock and then I'll probably say, yeah, whatever. What are you going to do to occupy your headspace? It's a good question.
Starting point is 00:38:55 I might go to a movie because movies are like the one place you can get on earth where, like, nobody, like you get people on their phones off and they're not going to talk to you about it or something like that. You know, my neighborhood, the problem is my neighborhood in Louisville, it's a very liberal neighborhood, so they're going to care. My neighbor in Lexington probably wouldn't, but, you know. Just do the Halloween move. Turn your porch light off and lock her down.
Starting point is 00:39:21 Don't answer the door. Yeah. But so my view is you'll either know by 11 or 1130 or we won't know for weeks. Well, what year was it the hanging chads with Bush and Gore that nobody... That was 2000. I remember after... Do you realize that in hindsight that came down to like 800 votes? The president of the United States came down to like literally 800 votes.
Starting point is 00:39:44 We, you know, we did the late news that night and left the TV station and still didn't know who won the presidency. Remember that night in 2000, they declared both of them the winner. They declared Bush the winner. Then they declared Gore the winner. And then they came back and said no one is the winner. Yeah. Had the recount. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Remember the videos of the guys like looking hold the ballots up to the light to see where the Chad was and all that? I never heard a hanging Chad before or since, I think that scenario. So yeah. So my prediction is either the polls, the polls are either missing the women that are going to vote for Harris. or they're missing the rural people that will vote for Trump. I don't know which one it is. Or they're right, and if they're right, it's going to be stupid close. So we'll see.
Starting point is 00:40:36 And you're going to keep your phone off. No, I am. I'm not going to, do you think, I will say this. I was off my phone in 2016 and 2020, too. And I was much more addicted to my phone in those years than I am now. I'm off. People are going to be awful. They will.
Starting point is 00:40:53 People are going to be awful to each other next week. They will. They're going to be absolutely. That's one of the things that makes me sad about it. People are going to be absolutely awful to each other. And Twitter is going to be full of misinformation. Like you're not going to know what to believe. You're going to have no idea.
Starting point is 00:41:10 So what good does it do to be online? It doesn't. What will you do? Will you watch it? I'll have the TV on. You'll do other stuff, right? Yeah, but doing other stuff. I'll be, you know, doing laundry and I'll have it on.
Starting point is 00:41:23 You'll probably, like, have your own dog costume contest at your house or something like that. Yeah. I'll tune in. Yeah, no, I mean, everybody. I haven't seen 10 minutes of anything into, I don't watch any of it, but on election night, I'll watch it. Yeah, I think that's how most people probably are. Who's next? Rob. Rob. Go ahead, Rob.
Starting point is 00:41:42 Yeah, I was calling about the coaching. I coached boys and girls basketball in high school. Yes. And I don't, we didn't cuss to the kids, period, either girls or boys. Now, you might slip and say a cuss word, and you apologize for that, but you don't cuss the kids. I'm with you. I appreciate the call. Oh, I'm sorry, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:42:10 Go ahead. He hung up. All right, sorry about that. I didn't mean, I didn't, I didn't, that was a preemptive, appreciate the call. you did say that there's more parts of that video that apparently there's a phrase he says that apparently there's two videos and they deleted the second video
Starting point is 00:42:27 and in the second video it's still just cussing but maybe a little more graphic we don't need to say what it was but there was more than just cussing it was like kind of a very cussing extreme something that would get you in trouble yeah yeah maybe a little bit more
Starting point is 00:42:45 A little bit too graphic. Go ahead. Who's next? Mason. Mason. Go ahead, Mason. Hey, good morning, fellas. Hey, I'm going to play devil's advocate because, you know, I have to agree with,
Starting point is 00:42:59 it's probably not the right thing to do, but as a coach for a 20-plus years, I feel like the difference is between a classroom teacher and a coach is like you have, the kids have to be there in the classroom. they choose to be in an extra correct activity in these other things, band, softball, football, all those things. Well, the Supreme Court, I said this a minute ago, I'll let you finish, but I said this a minute ago about law. The Supreme Court over the years has made a distinction on everything from free speech
Starting point is 00:43:34 to prayer to all of these things between what you're saying, the difference between you have to go to school, but you don't have to play these sports. So what you're saying is not ridiculous. There are legal precedents based on that. But go ahead. What I was going to say, so you have coaches as good as Nick Sabin, who is kind of in your face, yell guy, all the way down to people who you barely say boo.
Starting point is 00:44:01 And both of them are really, you know, people are really good coaches. So as I was saying, I think you have to know your kids and you have to know if you can say those type of things to them or not. Like the guy was saying earlier, like now you probably can't do that as much as you could back in the past. When I first started 20 years ago, it was, you know, not as big a thing. Now like the guy said, kids will shut down on you in a heartbeat for whatever reason. So that's why I was getting to with that. And real quick, hey, I would just take the popcorn money from whatever Taylor Swift goes in Indianapolis.
Starting point is 00:44:37 Yeah, I mean, it's unbelievable to think. I appreciate the call just about. you know, the amount of money. Okay, so that's just the tickets. Think about the merchandise she makes. Yeah. I mean, the tickets were $500 each face value. Okay.
Starting point is 00:44:56 So just think about how much that is. And then the merchandise money. Somebody wrote me and said, me and my daughters are going. We don't have tickets. We're just going to buy merchandise and come home. I know people that have done that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:09 Gone to wherever she was to the city. No tickets. Just set some way. nearby where you could hear it. Because all the bars around then will have pre-parties and post-parties after her concert. Also, concerts have gotten very smart with merchandise, her especially. They'll get there two days early. Yeah, no, they're there now.
Starting point is 00:45:25 They're there now. So they have days of making it before she even lands in Indianapolis. It's real. Like, she, where does she rank in the biggest musical artist of all time? Like, for real. Like, not where what you think is her level of. good or whatever. Is she the biggest female artist of all time?
Starting point is 00:45:47 She is. I used to think it was probably Madonna. She's been past. Michael Jackson. You're the music guy. Do you think she's the biggest music artist of all time? Yeah, based on these numbers. Female.
Starting point is 00:45:56 Yeah, you probably have to say she is. So I would argue the only people in her stratosphere. The Beatles. Yeah. Michael Jackson. Elvis. Anyone else? For the females, it's just, yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:12 Well, well, none of the. those are females i just mentioned no but i used but you we're going to try to compare to females madonna lady gaga and her that's probably it oh she's bigger than madonna and lady yeah yeah i mean i think the only people that you could put in her stratosphere and even elvis was more of an american thing i think you're probably looking at like beetles michael jackson her i think that's the three i don't want to get the beehive on me biance thinks she's in that category but she's not no but not world i know taylor swift is her own stress stratosphere right now with these numbers she's doing.

And we're still chasing it.
Starting point is 00:48:38 And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:48:54 And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Starting point is 00:50:19 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
Starting point is 00:50:35 We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Starting point is 00:50:57 Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He run up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. are times when the mind becomes a difficult place to live. This is David Eagleman with the Inner Cosmos podcast, and for Mental Health Awareness Month, we're dedicating a series to understanding
Starting point is 00:51:29 the mind when it struggles. I'm joined by doctors, researchers, and those with lived experience. We'll talk with singer-songwriter Jewel about anxiety. I started living in my car, and then my car got stolen. I was shoplifting. I was having panic attacks. I was agoraphobic. And making it through hardship. To be present is a learned skill and it's hard to be present. We'll talk with John Nelson about clinical depression and the brain implant that saved his life. What I learned is that procedure made me happy because I'm disease-free. And we'll talk with leading experts like Judd Brewer about anxiety and John Hirschfield about obsessive-compulsive disorder and the science of how the brain can change. This is a month of deeply personal and
Starting point is 00:52:17 honest conversations about what happens when the brain goes off course and what we can do about it. Listen to Inner Cosmos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Takey Sports Radio, everybody, enjoy your Halloween today. For those of you that are in the Lexington or Louisville area, if you're trying to early vote, don't. Crowds everywhere. Everywhere. Like, I'd wait, maybe at least until tomorrow or Saturday.
Starting point is 00:52:52 or even on election day, because the crowds are insane. Traffic is backed up on Tate's Creek Road. I saw pictures from out in Bowman Field, Shannon, where I early vote sometimes. My goodness. It's crazy how many people are out there. I was considering doing it today, but if you're telling me there's crazy. I'd wait and do it on Election Day, maybe quicker. No, I think Election Day will be quicker.
Starting point is 00:53:15 Because when you go to early voting, they have to find your precinct first, which takes forever, and then you vote. Whereas when you go to your precinct, you're good. Yeah. So I actually think I'm going to wait until. We've had two different guys step up here. You mentioned Tate's Creek Grove. The gentleman was just here said the Northside Library.
Starting point is 00:53:33 The pictures of the traffic in these places is absolutely wild. Yoka Girl was late to get to work today because she couldn't get into where she worked. They were voting. Yeah. So it'd be like. All right, draft kings, our pick of the night. Texans, Jets. Aaron Rogers is a two-point favorite against the Texans.
Starting point is 00:53:49 Give me Houston. the jet stink what do you got i like houston but i am recently the touchdown god devante adams scores tonight he hadn't scored yet since he's been there he's been targeted a million times but doesn't have one yet so i like the texans and the adams touchdown i will never bet for aaron rogers so i'm taking whoever playing against him give me the texans what about you uh with three texans you're gonna where are you going chanan you know what okay i'll be the guy i'll take the jets er rhodes finally gets a win tonight over the texans if i will he finally get a win. We did this thing on ESPN where we went through the quarterbacks to figure out where we think Aaron Rogers is right now.
Starting point is 00:54:27 And Myron and I ended up putting him as the 18th best quarterback right now. He's not played well. The team has not played well. But you have ever thought that? He was one of the three best quarterbacks like his entire career. And he's got some weapons too. I guess they're not blocking for him. But he's got the receivers and still not getting done. Remember we had the conversation about helmet communications and I said how do they keep their signals from getting crossed? The Big 12, KSR cursed, the Big 12 announced yesterday, they are reviewing the possibility of teams finding the other streams of their other coaches and that they are investigating. I just this week asked about it, and now the Big 12 seems to act like maybe it's gotten hacked. When the one guy came on here and acted like anybody was talking about said it's kind of an honor system, we all looked at each other like, well.
Starting point is 00:55:14 Maybe he was right, and people don't honor it. Well, I'm shocked it took this long to catch somebody. There's something with as much at stake as college football. I think most coaches would go against that honor system. But how about that? So, like, they're investigating it saying they think that it's always been secure, but this is exactly what I said. From the coach to the player, they think might have gotten to,
Starting point is 00:55:41 it might be insecure. It seems like if you know what you're doing, you could hack into that every single game Yeah, because it's not wired. Although I don't know if that makes a difference. I don't really know what I'm talking about. But I did see. Well, clearly you do because the Big 12 few days later is after you.
Starting point is 00:55:57 You know, sometimes you'll be, I don't know, you get a walkie-talkie and then you hear other people talking and you're like, what's happening here? Or like when you're calling, you're a middle school girlfriend and you think your mom's on the line or a sibling, you're like, wait a minute, someone else is on this. Well, back in the early cell phone days, you would sometimes get other people's call. Yes, like you kind of hear it. You could sometimes hear, do you remember that, Shannon? Like when cell phones first started, you could sometimes hear occasionally another person's call.
Starting point is 00:56:26 Did that ever happen to you? No, I didn't know you could do that. I've had that happen. I mean, it's a long time ago. But in the early days, you could sometimes, like, another person's call would kind of bleed through. This is kind of along this topic, but a little different. You know, the little ear holes in your helmets, now that you can have the speaker in your, your helmet.
Starting point is 00:56:48 Okay. This is going to be stupid. Shannon, this is going to be stupid. I'm really ready for it in the last four minutes. Go ahead. It's like yesterday. I already know what's coming and I can't wait to hear it. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:56:57 There's a guy we all know him, Dr. Klosterman, Dr. K's with a company. They make little plastic inserts to plug up the hole so you can hear your coach better talking to you. All the SEC schools did it except for Kentucky. Kentucky finally hooked up with him and now for like the guys that have the speakers in their headphones, they got these little plugs that plug into those little ear holes in your helmet. I thought you were going to say something else. I did too. I thought you were going to say that you were worried that people could hear it through the holes. Like the D-Lines eavesdropped.
Starting point is 00:57:29 And would eavesdrop. I thought that's where you were going with that. They would put their ear to the helmet. So that was different. I thought that's where you were going with that and I was going to be happy. Who's next? Let's go to Andrew. Andrew. Go ahead, Andrew. So going back on the Taylor Swift tickets. My daughter is really big in Taylor Swift and last Christmas. I was just looking at tickets for in Indianapolis
Starting point is 00:57:57 this weekend. And I was trying to see how much the tickets would just be. And when I got to the final stages on StubHub, my phone glist and the next screen that popped up and said, thank you for your purchase.
Starting point is 00:58:12 And it was $4,700. $100 for nosebleed. But, well, first of all, your daughter's going to be happy, right? Your dad is the ticket. I sold the tickets. I hope your daughter doesn't hear you say this. For how much apiece? $2,000 a piece.
Starting point is 00:58:33 Oh, so you did lose money on it. I lost $700, but I'd rather lose $700. But you know what's crazy, though, sir, is if you had kept it, you would have gotten more than that now. Oh, yeah. Yeah. But at the time, I was just trying to lose. Oh, you needed the money away.
Starting point is 00:58:52 Yeah, I understand. Well, that does suck. I mean, that sucks. I hate that. It's, well, I'm sorry. I wish I could help your daughter go. Well, what Stubb does, too,
Starting point is 00:59:04 is so even though I sold the tickets, you don't get that money. Yeah, they take fees. Well, you don't get the money for 30 days. after the event. Yeah, that happens with the Reds tickets with me. You don't get them, you don't get the money for a long time after you sell them.
Starting point is 00:59:23 Yeah, it takes, I don't know about 30 days, but it takes a couple weeks. You should have sold the tickets to your daughter. She would have bought them from you. Well, I'm sorry your daughter didn't get to go and that you lost that money, but, but, you know, at least you tried, right? Yeah. All right, I appreciate the call. I don't know if that helps.
Starting point is 00:59:42 I don't know if I, I don't know if I made it feel any better. But, yeah, he'd have hung on to him and sold him like right now. Oh, he'd have gotten more than that now. Yeah. Yeah, I think that's probably right. ServePro, you know, our national storm team is responding to all the unfortunate accidents all over the country. So no kids that have medical disabilities and no kids under three. Relentless. Three, I'd go higher than three. You scared a kid on an oxygen tank?
Starting point is 01:00:46 Yeah. Why did you do that? I want him to get the full Halloween experience. What is wrong with you? So you're going to scare a four-year-olds? Oh, yeah, four-year-olds. So you would see a four-year-old with an oxygen tank and think that's who? Oh, no.
