Starting point is 00:03:31 one of the most popular restaurant chains in Kentucky, wild eggs where they have breakfast, brunch, lunch, and all kinds of great food. And because they do so well, we are outside. And I, first of all, how about a big shout to this hearty crowd here this morning, standing out in the cold. We would love to have you. We're giving away gift cards.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Hopefully I'll have a prize at the end. I have to make sure that that's the case. But you can give us a shout on the Clark's Pubbit Shop phone line. 859-280-2-807. A-Vision Auto Glass Text Machine, 772-7-7-4. In this edition, sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office. If you call T.J. He'll make them pay. I made a big mistake this morning, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:04:13 I don't know. Nice shorts, buddy. I didn't think shorts. I mean, look at everybody else. Everybody else is dressed for the occasion. You're wearing a hoodie in shorts like at 73 degrees. You know, I've been wearing pants for like two or three weeks. And I said, you know what?
Starting point is 00:04:24 The legs need to, like, breathe. It's now in November. We've turned over the calendar. This wasn't the day to do that because it is not very warm. But my legs do look good out here in the cold, but we'll see what happens by the end of the show. But, Ryan, somebody may need to bring me pants. I'm not going to lie to you. You know, you're big on the hoodie and shorts, and for most days, you can get by with that.
Starting point is 00:04:48 But today, probably would be a good day for pants. Looks like you got some chili bumps going, as Ryan would say. I think there's some chili bumps. So if you want to watch me be out here for two hours, kind of. trying to keep myself warm. Maybe I'll run a lap during this. It is Friday, November the 1st. Kentucky plays Tennessee tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Kentucky opens their basketball season on Monday, and it's the night after Halloween. Ryan, how were all the trick-or-treaters? I got to tell a funny story. I'll be the judge of that. I'm setting up, and our first trick-or-treaters are coming down the sidewalk, and these three little girls, they say, we have to go to this house first before it gets dark.
Starting point is 00:05:27 This is the scary house. Well, they did hear that you went after people on oxygen tanks. Yesterday was I thought pretty evil move. No, I didn't scare any medically fragile students and kids last night. But I did go after a couple three. I only made one kid cry. Only one kid cry. One.
Starting point is 00:05:45 Yeah. So you scared the kid so much they cried? Well, he was walking behind his older sister. So his older sister came through my little, I had a big inflatable, and I had a smog machine going. I had a strobe light. and they come walking through. So I scared the sister.
Starting point is 00:06:01 I didn't see the little boy behind her, and he took off running to mom. What were you dressed as, can I ask? He has one costume, a knight. Well, this was the night. No, I went as a demon. A demon? Ooh.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Yeah. He beat up Tucker Carlson, and then he ended up, that's just a little news humor, if you've been watching the news. So did you have a lot of trick-or-treaters? I had probably about maybe close to 100. Okay, that's good.
Starting point is 00:06:27 You said, Shannon, you had none. Well, I was at OVW, but yeah, the report back home was zero. We didn't have a lot of... We didn't have any true-or-treaters come to OVW. Normally they all dress up and stuff, don't they? They do. I don't know. I think trunk retreat's becoming a big thing.
Starting point is 00:06:41 What does that mean? Where you just go to, like, a parking lot, and everybody's got their cars, and the trunks are open and the trunks are pulled it. When did that happen? Well, it happens all the time. Everywhere. They do that before Halloween, right? A lot of times, like, trunk or treat.
Starting point is 00:06:52 I feel like that's cheating, isn't it? Well, I mean, kids these days. supposed to be, you know, safer. On ESPN last night, we had the Alabama coach. Kailen DeBore was on with me and coach Ian Fitzsimmons. And he said basically Ian bullied him into going out and buying full-sized candy bars. Oh, no. Because he was like, you're the Alabama coach.
Starting point is 00:07:19 You make $9 million a year. You can't give little tiny crunch bars. So he went out and he ended up by. full-size candy bars because you've got to think in Tuscaloosa people like go because they know it's the coach's house. It's like an excuse to knock on the coach's door. And if you did last night, you would have gotten full-sized candy bars. I wanted to go full-size candy this year. And she said, remember, once we're the full-sized candy house, there's no turning back. So I wasn't ready for that commitment. That's it. That is true. You would end up getting it all year. I had a very unique Halloween.
Starting point is 00:07:50 We had a bunch of stuff. Fun night. I step inside just to eat a little bit of leftover pizza. my porch on my camera one kid cleaned me out i mean i had a lot out there he scooped it all up i went out there to two completely empty bowls the bratt five minutes i was inside wow i like that surprisingly shannon i didn't have anybody i also had my light off and the door closed no no eggs on the house no you got on you got up he knocked i think my neighborhood they just don't come but that's good yeah uh so it ended up for me a successful night i ended up talking about Aaron Rogers all night on ESPN. My power went out all night, and I'll be honest, on Halloween,
Starting point is 00:08:31 kind of wondered if someone cut it and I was going to get murdered, because the weather was fine, and we didn't have power or internet all night after trick-or-treaters. So it was a little scary. I had a mom that showed up early where her kids were in another house. She said, I got four girls coming. I want you to really scare them because they act like you're not going to scare them this year. So I hid behind the bushes. They thought I was going to be.
Starting point is 00:08:49 Did you see that video? It's a whole production going on at his house. Did you say that video of, what was it, Lamello Ball? Did you see that? No. What is he doing? Yeah, I guess the hornets have a thing where they try to scare the guys coming in and they use like a, I don't know, a fake, whatever.
Starting point is 00:09:04 And he punched it in the face. I would too. I would do the same thing. Wow. Luckily, it wasn't a real person, but he ended up punching the face. Wow. So 859-28027. There's a fellow shorts wear back there.
Starting point is 00:09:18 That's Travis. Travis Wild eggs. He's the owner. Oh, he's the owner. Oh, I thought you talking about the three-year-old kid. He threw this event, didn't know him outside. Me and the three-year-old. Those are the people that are outside.
Starting point is 00:09:27 We have funky rooster coffee here, and we're giving away gift cards every segment, so come on out and join us. We've still got a couple tables for you, and great food, obviously, here as well. Kentucky and Tennessee play at 745 tomorrow night in Knoxville. It opened as Tennessee a 14-and-a-half-point favorite. I look this morning there now an 18-point favorite, so the money is clearly all going on the vols, understanding. So, you know, when we played Ole Miss, we were like a 21 point underdog.
Starting point is 00:10:02 I think people dismissed us and we had no chance. We came out. Not only did we play well, we won any chance, Ryan, that tomorrow night with Tennessee dressed in black, their video unveiling their black uniforms had 7 million views. Any chance we go and make those people sad and get a victory. It won't shock me at all. Kentucky comes out and shows a lot of fight. That's just how Mark Stoops is.
Starting point is 00:10:30 We laid an egg and played bad against South Carolina, almost beat Georgia. Went to a large underdog at Ole Miss, beat Ole Miss. Supposed to win these last three games they play an egg. But now it won't shock me at all. They show up with a lot of fight and a lot of, you know, I don't know if they can win, but I like them to at least cover. 18 points is a lot. I would love some of what Ron Lemon's having.
Starting point is 00:10:51 I don't feel that way at all. Yeah, I don't either. I think the defense could show up. I'm confident they will, but I think there's a chance. There's a zero on the scoreboard figure. I just don't know how we're going to score points outside of a turnover on the short side of a field or maybe Berion does something special on a return. But the offense hasn't been scoring, and you're going into a hostile environment
Starting point is 00:11:12 against the third best defense in the nation. Ian Fitzsimmons, I like to give him a hard time about calling everybody coach. But he is a longtime friend of the Stoops family. He's like very close friends of Bob Stoops, and so he follows Mark, and he is calling the game tomorrow. Lucky for us, the game is the main event game on ESPN Radio tomorrow, which is nice. That's what we want. He's calling the game, and he said, you know, I haven't watched Kentucky a lot this year, and he said, I watched all the games to prepare for this game Saturday, and he said,
Starting point is 00:11:44 the last three games are unlike any Stoops team I've ever seen, meaning Mark and Bob. He was like, this looks like a completely different football team, Ryan, than what I'm used to, seen from Stoop's teams. And he sort of said, why? And I was like, well, where do you want to start? But it was interesting to get an outside perspective. He basically said, I haven't seen Kentucky play like they've played the last three weeks since Mark has been there. And somehow he's able to rally the troops.
Starting point is 00:12:16 He's able to usually get the guys out. I mean, we haven't been the last three weeks. I mean, like the last three weeks, there's been no rally. It's coming. We're due. Do you think it's coming? I think that this game will be close, at least. You know, Tennessee, during the month of October,
Starting point is 00:12:30 their offense didn't get started until the second half. Now, the problem is, on the flip side, Kentucky doesn't score. They've only scored a total of 13 points in the second half in the month of October. So if Kentucky can jump out on them early, I think there's a chance that come fourth quarter, it's at least a game. I want to be positive. I tend to be positive.
Starting point is 00:12:50 I've picked Kentucky to win, not every game, but most games this year. You know, Drew, I'm not trying to be negative. I feel like we're going to get pounded tomorrow. I mean, I do. I feel like in that atmosphere. You know, one of the things that I didn't like hearing was Mark, stoop's yesterday, sort of complaining that we've had night. games. Oh, I hated that. He said, you know, we have our fourth straight night game. Oh, that's great.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Like, sarcastically. What does that matter? Well, let me tell you why it bothers me. It doesn't, I mean, like, if he wants to play day games, that's fine. Yeah. But, like, night games are a signal, especially in the SEC. This is less so in like the Big Ten puts their best game at noon. But night games in the SEC are a signal of you are a prime time program. We have now played four straight night games. Lane Kiffin was complaining that he's had to be. to play all day games. If you don't want to play at night in the SEC, especially when two of the games were at home, it's not like we're only having to play them on the road.
Starting point is 00:13:53 Two of those games were at home here in Lexington. There's a part of me that's almost like thinking you're saying, I don't want people watching us. Like if you don't want to play, if all four games have been on the road and you have to go play in the best environment, I get it. But two of those games were in your stadium where in theory you were. would want it to be at night so your fans would be into it. I'm like, Mark, is anything making, you know, I thought that was weird. It does seem a little weird because most coaches would want to play a night game at home on
Starting point is 00:14:28 their own turf with their own fans and everybody has all day to tailgate and you come in. There's a lot of excitement and energy going on in the stadium. I don't know why you thought. Did you think that was strange? Yeah, so as I heard it, I thought, we'll add it to the list of things that makes me wonder how committed he is to this gig. I mean, it's a night game. You play several.
Starting point is 00:14:43 I mean, it's a Saturday. What else you're going to do on a Saturday? You know, I know it's a longer wait all day, and he might prefer a few night games every once in a while, but to open your teleconference with a complaint about it, I thought that was a bad look. And just, like I said, maybe question where he is. When he got here, we played at noon in front of empty stadiums every single week. That's true. And he has built this program to where you're playing at 745.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Now, we've been on the SEC network a number of weeks in a row, but we had been playing, you know, this game, like I said, this is ESPN Radio. ESPN Radio at the beginning of the year has to pick their games. And Shannon, they picked Kentucky, Tennessee as the main game. That wouldn't have happened seven or eight years ago, right? So to complain about that, I'm kind of withdrew. There's a part of me that's like, dude, do you just not want to be here? Like, if that's the case, I mean, we'll shake your hand.
Starting point is 00:15:36 You've done amazing. But like, do you want to be here? Yeah, those night games are. a testament to your success as a program. You should take that as a compliment. Yes, you should. I don't want to say that he's checked out, but part of me kind of feels like, you know, he's checked out, you know?
Starting point is 00:15:52 We should be fair to him. It's been a tough 10 days for him. I mean, he lost his mother. The funeral's Monday. I don't think that's something you can just skip over, okay? I mean, that is a, that's a big deal. And he not only deserves our sympathy, I also think you deserve some grace, considering that. But there's a big part of me that worries Saturday night.
Starting point is 00:16:11 If you get blown out, going into a by week, coming back and playing Murray, by the time we come back, it's going to be like, well, you know, with smart pole playing. You know, I mean, I think if they want to keep interest in these last three games, we got to win. Otherwise, here's what I think will happen. People will skip the Murray game. They won't pay attention to the Texas game. and then they might come back for the Louisville game because it's Louisville, right? That's what I was going to say. We'll check out, but we'll come back for the Louisville game.
Starting point is 00:16:42 I just want to sell them, like I said earlier, just show some fight tomorrow, man. You know, none of this laying down. If you've got a chance to, you know, punch it in the end zone, you've got to get it in the end zone. No more of this first and goal from the five and not even get that. Three straight games, first and goal inside the five haven't scored. You can't do that again. 859-280-2287. I do want to talk quite a bit of basketball today, by the way.
Starting point is 00:17:05 The game, just so you know, tomorrow night, we will show it at KS Bar. This might be the last night game at the bar. I will say, you want to go just in case we win. Because when we won it against Ole Miss, it was apparently rowdy because people didn't think it. It'll be first come, first served there tomorrow. We are here at Wild Eggs, got all kinds of great food. Here's some of the food they have. Kelsey's Hot Brown, Breakfast Lazzania, Ryan's Chila Kiles?
Starting point is 00:17:35 Is that right? Sounds good. Is this Ryan? Sure. Why not? And then there's a cinnamon roll casserole, which I ate just a minute ago. That's really good. Let me take something. I'm sure it's not like going to make my heart arteries be positive, but that was really, really good.
Starting point is 00:17:51 We'll take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where sports slice comes. in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Starting point is 00:19:00 I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, We get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth.

Starting point is 00:19:47 American soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming. Ramos sending on to Ernie Stewart the chip. I'm Taub Ramos. I'm Tom Bowker. On our podcast, inside American soccer, you'll get the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about balligan. I'm not worried about McKinney, my only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions. If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team.
Starting point is 00:20:26 It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us. Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, wherever, Get your podcast. What's up, fam?
Starting point is 00:20:49 It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
Starting point is 00:21:10 We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this. series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
Starting point is 00:21:29 we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court.
Starting point is 00:21:45 and you're going to get the boss. So listen to Point Game on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, everyone, it's Ryder Strong, and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World. And now the PodMeets Twirled podcast. Starting point is 00:22:08 traitors, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor. So yeah, now we're experts. I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge. That is the point of the show. I'm just going to remind you. I have watched some Survivor. I obviously haven't watched enough.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Did people not like it? Yeah. Just because we... Yeah. We'll be recapping the big conclusion at the 50th season from the final attempts at gameplay to the desperate pleas of finalists
Starting point is 00:22:36 to a bunch of ha, hoo. Ha, ha, ooh. Again, we are experts. So make sure to tune into Pod Meets Twirled for all our Survivor 50 takes. Listen to Pod Meets Twirled
Starting point is 00:22:47 on the IHeard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Shannon and I have a running joke here at Wild Eggs at Hamburg. We have a running joke been going on for about a year about the guy who says he hates attorneys, and he's not all of you in Kentucky get to hear this ad. It runs in Louisville. I'm not sure if it runs in other places, but he hates timeshakes.
Starting point is 00:23:11 I'm not an attorney. If I sound like an attorney, I apologize. I'm not an attorney. I don't even like attorneys. Yeah, he goes on with that, which always gets us back to the fact that Ryan has a time share. Because, like, we always, the whole point of the commercial is that you can get out of your time share. And, Ryan, you still have a time share. Yeah, I don't want to get out of it.
Starting point is 00:23:31 I like it. I like to go down there. Hey, if you ever want to get out of it, I got a guy you can call. I want an attorney to help me. Why not just get an Airbnb? More expensive. Than a time share? What I have to pay.
Starting point is 00:23:42 But, like, how long do you have that time share? For how many more years? For life, I think. Oh, it's for life. That's why you can't get out of it. So you signed that for life. Well, I think I told you it was my ex-wife's father. He passed away and gave it to Gavin.
Starting point is 00:23:56 Well, Gavin can't handle it. So I'm kind of dis... So is this like something you have to... Like, when you die, you got someone else has to do it? Like, it follows your estate. I think that's how he did it. Give it to Matt. That sounds awful.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Yeah, I'm going to give it to you. I don't want it. I'll call that guy and get out of it. He's not an attorney. Josiah will be paying for it when he's 50. So literally, like, it's for... life and it's not only for life it's for future lives like in 400 years they'll be a limined still with this time share i think i could pass it down to my boys yeah but they may not want it
Starting point is 00:24:28 and to be fair when you got this Airbnb probably didn't even exist then right and you probably got this in what the 90s he did he bought the 90s yeah so good good good luck 859 280 27 hey rick i wanted to, you know, you're my music guy. Did you hear the news, Rick, about young thug? No, I didn't. What's the news? Do you know who young thug is? I know I don't. Shannon, do you know who young thug? I've heard him. I couldn't tell you a song. He got out of jail. He was like, he was facing like 40 years of prison and they gave him something I'd never heard before. They gave him 20 years probation. And he's, and they said he's like a rapper and he was involved in. I don't even know what he was involved in. But Rick, they said you can't. You're
Starting point is 00:25:15 one thing you can't do is go to Atlanta, which is where he was from. Yeah. Because I guess he was in, like, gang activity in Atlanta. A lot of gang activity. And they said, you know what? You're out, but you cannot, no matter what, go to Atlanta unless it's for a funeral. If somebody dies, you can go to the funeral. But otherwise, you cannot go to Atlanta.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Braves games are out too, I guess. And that's his hometown. Cannot go, except for your field. He was like, if your family wants to see you, they have to. go and meet you somewhere else. Can't go within 50 miles of Atlanta. So that led me to something. Do you think, obviously, you would do it to stay out of prison? But what if as part of your prison sentence, they said you cannot go to Lexington or the 50 miles around it for 20 years? What do you think about that? Would that be hard? It would definitely be hard. But if a judge is telling me I do,
Starting point is 00:26:09 I'm going to prison, I ain't coming to Lexington. It feels like a fair exchange. I find out exactly where the 50-mile radius is and I'll have my boys meet me there. I'd never heard of this before. I mean, I'm sure it's not the only time, but I'd never heard of the idea of, I mean, obviously they said you can't do any criminal activity, you can't do this, you can't do that. But they said, and the judge was serious. If you are spotted in Atlanta for anything other than a funeral, you're going to jail. I think I could do that. I mean, I'm here every Friday in Lexington for a remote. What about Louisville? What if they said, What if they said Louisville or Bullitt County, 20 years, stay out?
Starting point is 00:26:48 I could do it. I mean, versus prison? I feel like that's a really fair exchange, I feel like. Just two cities you can't be in? I'm good with that. Yeah, I mean, I could do it. Just ignore the guy with the fake mustache at Keenland. Definitely not me.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Definitely not me coming back to tailgate for a game at UK. Just ignore that guy in the wig, not me. What if your flight got diverted, though? Uh-oh. Through Lexington? emergency landing in Lexington. I'm jumping out with a parachute at that point. Isn't that for sales?
Starting point is 00:27:16 Am I good? Or is it 50 miles? I think about that. What if like Josiah's playing for UK football? Can't come. Away games. Only away games. They don't win at home.
Starting point is 00:27:26 So, you know. Yeah, it's true. Who's up first, Rick? Oh, he guys are something. Oh, Rick. Rick really liked that line. Rick, you almost never acknowledge anything we say, but you like that one, didn't you?
Starting point is 00:27:40 Yeah, that's good. Okay, all right. We got John up first. Rick. Pop to Rick. Rick. Rick's spicy today. Go ahead, John. Yeah, I saw this question online.
Starting point is 00:27:53 If we had Andre Woodson or Tim Couch, a quarterback, well, we have one more games this year. I don't think we would have. I'm not sure we would have because, I mean, maybe couch because he was so used to getting the ball out of his hand so quickly in that offensive system. But with our offensive line, that's what we're. why it's hard for me to even Judge Brock, because he never has any time. So, like, would we have been better with Coucher-Woodson?
Starting point is 00:28:18 Yeah, maybe we beat Vandy. Right? Maybe we're, because Vandy was close. But, like, we, with Coucher-Woodson, I don't know that we beat South Carolina, Florida or Auburn considering how much they pounded us. Yeah, there's a lot going on with that offense. And, like, a guy was explaining me, even when the line does their job, Brock then hangs on the ball too long.
Starting point is 00:28:39 It's like they can't get it all together. They're out of sync. So do you think we don't want any more with those guys? Let's say you had Woodson. Brock's missed some open guys a few times. But would it have been enough to win a game? Yeah. I'll go, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Yeah, they would have had Woodson, they wouldn't want a game or two more. Probably Vanderbilt. I feel like they would. You know, Brock, though, it's Georgia. Let's say we had the big blue wall of one of the 10-win seasons. Oh, for sure. Well, then what's our record then? You beat Vandy.
Starting point is 00:29:10 You probably beat Jordan. Georgia. They probably beat Georgia. They probably beat Vanney, probably beat Georgia. And, you know, maybe even the game like South Carolina, remember that flipped kind of quickly. Auburn, we were up 10-0 at halftime. Yeah, you for sure beat Auburn. I can't think about that. Like, as bad as this season's going to be, and we very well may finish four and eight, we could have been good this year. I mean, like, this schedule, like, it opened up in a lot of ways. And if we had had a the right team. This was a team that you could have been good. You could have won that Georgia game,
Starting point is 00:29:46 right? I mean, again, it didn't happen. I'm not saying we should have won. We should have lost all the games we lost. But Florida, Vandy, Auburn, and Georgia, those were all winnable games if you were even the teams we had a few years ago. Yeah, and three of those games, you just mentioned we had it first and goal from the five. I would think Calchard Woodson would have found a way to get that ball in the end zone. Right now I just made myself frustrated. We are here at Wild Eggs, breakfast, brunch, lunch. I'm telling you. With the bar.
Starting point is 00:30:15 What? Breakfast, brunch, and lunch with a bar. Is that your ad? Yeah. Okay. You guys in Lexington here. See, I only hear the Louisville ads in my ear, so I don't get to hear Rines. People say you're on every ad.
Starting point is 00:30:26 Is that true? You know, if they want to pay me, I endorse it. You know, it doesn't say no to anything. Ever. 859-280-2287. We'll take a break. Be right back here at Wild Eggs. This is KSR.
Starting point is 00:30:43 Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here. at Wild Eggs. Good crowd sitting out here in the cold with us and joining getting ready for the weekend. 859-280-2287. Couple open lines. We're going to talk a little basketball here in a minute. The Kentucky Secretary of State said 225,000 people early voted on Thursday. It is open today and tomorrow as well, but then not Sunday and Monday. So you can do today and tomorrow. And then on election day, 225,000 people. pretty good. They said the turnout was disproportionately high in
Starting point is 00:31:20 Lexington and Louisville, but that's kind of normal, usually for early voting. Since you're the political expert here. Oh, big expert. Do they show the early results, or did they wait to election night before they total all those? We talked about I don't know if I talked about this in my class. I don't know if I talked about it on the show.
Starting point is 00:31:36 So the answer is, in some states, of which Kentucky is one, they will give you the early votes like as they get the precincts. So like Kentucky, that's why Kentucky gets called so early because the early votes by election day will all already have been counted.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Now, in like Pennsylvania, this is why Pennsylvania, the results don't sometimes come until the middle of the night. They, by law, can't start counting the early votes until the polls close. Oh. So that's why it takes so long. You may remember in 2020, they talked about
Starting point is 00:32:11 how there was a big dump in the middle of the night. about the big dump. You heard, well, that's because that was the early votes had finally then been counted. But in like Kentucky and Florida and a lot of those states, they count the votes early, which I think to me is the better way to do it. But as of right now, they have not counted them. But I think in Kentucky, I could be wrong about this, I think they count them on election day.
Starting point is 00:32:34 So like while everyone's voting, they're counting the early votes, I believe. Gotcha. I saw some video of that line at the Tate's Creek Library yesterday. and it was around the corner down the sidewalk through the parking lot it was a huge line to vote the local location you were talking about booman field had an hour wait i saw this morning on the news so it got better apparently later in the day so like uh i would assume today if if i were people i think today's probably a day to go because i bet tomorrow it's very crowded because it's saturday people tend to like get really excited and go early and then go on their day off i think today is probably the best day to go Like we said, it may be easier to vote on election day. The line could be.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Could be. It usually is for me because then there's more precincts all around. And everybody's out of school, right? Isn't everybody out of school on election day? Election day, no school. Yeah. So, yeah. And in Kentucky, really the only competitive, really competitive race is the amendment to the school thing,
Starting point is 00:33:34 which I'd say will probably not pass, but we'll see. Don't know yet. 859-280-2287. Who's up next? Kyle is up next. Kyle, go ahead, Kyle. Hey, Matt. How you doing, Kyle?
Starting point is 00:33:51 I'm doing great. I just wanted to add my name to the list of people named after Kyle Macy. It's crazy. How old are you? Oh, you're born in 1990. Now, that's one of the later ones. Usually the people I know that are born after Kyle Macy tend to be like my age, honestly. Yeah, and funny enough.
Starting point is 00:34:10 If I was actually named by my aunt, my mom wanted to name me Hunter and she vetoed it. She's a dollared cat fan. Do you think, Ryan, Drew, what Kentucky player has the most kids in Kentucky named after him? Is it Kyle Macy? I've heard the most Cal Macy's. Not even close. Who's second? Well, I know in 98, believe it or not, there were a lot of people named that were named after Cameron Mills.
Starting point is 00:34:34 There were some Cameron, some Cams. Really? Yeah. You don't hear about that a lot, but you do hear a lot about it? about Kyle Macy's. I mean, I feel like there, I don't know what it was about him. Are there a lot of Rexes from like the mid to late 80s? Or there's some ridges?
Starting point is 00:34:50 Richies. Yeah. I have heard a disproportional amount of stories of being named after Kyle Macy. Including on the post game, too, they called back to back. That's interesting. Well, Kyle, I appreciate it. I had one more point if I have time. Go for it, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:07 Okay, about this upcoming Duke games. you know most these guys came from smaller schools where they probably got thumped on by duke or kansas and now they're wearing kentucky jerseys and i think they're going to go in there ready to play you know they're not going to be so outmatched like they were at the previous it's going to be a great test i don't think they're going to be scared at all it's going to be a great test i appreciate to call drew i think the duke game is going to be a great test for our guys because i want you to just think about where our guys came from all right so you got a guy let's just go through our starting lineup San Diego State. Now, they've played, he played the national championship, so I don't think that kid's going to be scared.
Starting point is 00:35:45 But then you have Dayton, Oklahoma, Fairley Dickinson, Wake Forest, Drexel, you know, Arizona and West Virginia with Kerr Kreeza. But you got a lot of guys who maybe they haven't been on this kind of stage. And they're going to feel it that night when they play Duke. It's a Champions Classic. It's going to be a 10th. ton of people. ESPN makes its main focus. They send all their announcers there. They send their college football guys there because they put out the playoff ratings that night. They get all, they make that a big event. They're playing Duke. There's going to be NBA scouts everywhere, mostly for the Duke guys. Drew, it'll be interesting to see who walks onto that stage and says, I'm good with this and who maybe it's a little bit nervous. Well, that's actually part of my
Starting point is 00:36:37 confidence. I know you name some that didn't, hadn't played that much, but Andrew Carr has played Duke a lot. He went to wait for. He's had great games against Duke. Ortega O.O.A. has gone into Kansas and played Kansas. I don't know if Oklahoma and Duke were ever matched up, but he's gone to plenty of big environments in the big 12. And Lamont Butler has hit a buzzer beater in the final four. So at least those three. And Fairley Dickinson. Kurt, Carreza also played a big game. Fairly Dickinson. Al, Ansley Almanor Ryan was on the team that beat Purdue in the first round of the NCAA tournament. He's on that group. So like in Amari Williams at Drexel, that could be one that maybe hasn't had that big of a game. But you have a lot of guys who have played a lot of those big games, including Carr,
Starting point is 00:37:16 who's played Duke more than anybody. A couple of guys after the Kentucky Wesleyan exhibition game talked about how this is the biggest home crowd I've ever played in front of in my life. And it was an exhibition game. I don't think we're going to be intimidated, though, by the spotlight. But I do think this, after that game, we're going to form our opinion on what happens to the rest of the season based on what happens to that game. true. I do. I do because I think that's going to be our first true test to see how we hold up against a really good team.
Starting point is 00:37:44 Unless we just get blown off the stage, which I don't think's going to happen, I'm giving them a lot of grace in the Duke. I mean, Duke is what I mean. If they can play them close. Duke is a preseason top five team. Duke's got three guys projected to be in the top
Starting point is 00:37:59 12 picks in the draft. Including the number one. Including the number one, including the number one that people think might be the best number one since like Anthony Edwards. So I mean, I don't feel like we have to beat them. I just mean if they can play competitively and not get blown out, then I'm going to have a lot more hope for the rest of the season. That's what I mean.
Starting point is 00:38:16 But I'm with you, Drew. I think they're going to be competitive. I think they're going to step up onto that scene. And we've talked about, I think this Duke team is a lot like most of our UK teams the last few years. They're all young. This is the first time. Whereas we're playing a more experience group.
Starting point is 00:38:32 When we play Kansas and Michigan State in the Champions Classic, we're playing teams that look like us this year. Yeah. You know, we've lost the Champions Classic a lot. Every once in a while, you had a special freshman like Maxi who just shrugged it off and had a great game in Madison Square Garden.
Starting point is 00:38:47 But in most cases, the freshmen were still looked like freshmen this earlier in the season and we had to see a lot of that. I think that's why I'm so confident in this year of them, at least playing a lot better with so much experience. And that's where this game were our experience. These guys are the oldest team we've ever had,
Starting point is 00:39:02 the experience they've got, the big game they've played in before. Freshman for Duke under the spotlight for the first time. it could go our way. I just, and I also think this, we are more talented than the national media is acting like. I don't know how talented we are, but we're more talented than they act like. They act like this is a group of rag-tag dudes that are the bad news bears. I mean, these guys can play. They're good. Are they good enough to win a national championship? Maybe not. But I'll tell you this. I mean, they just beat the D2 national championship team by 30 and shot not great to do it. And they beat another team by 70. You're not going to convince me that this team doesn't have time.
Starting point is 00:39:40 Yeah, I mean, it was a two-point game halfway through the first half, and you look up and they're about 20 minutes later. When they get hot, they can run with anyone. Yeah. Stop overpaying for sunglasses, Shannon. I'm not overpaying. I go to Shady Ray's. Thank you. An independent American-owned company, it started right here in Kentucky. I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase
Starting point is 00:41:27 that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done a number. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Starting point is 00:41:48 Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Starting point is 00:42:31 I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions. If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
Starting point is 00:42:53 The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us. Listen to Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam, Ms. Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. The Bron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what.
Starting point is 00:43:19 He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gets.
Starting point is 00:43:44 gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Starting point is 00:44:03 Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. There are times when the mind becomes a difficult place to live. This is David Eagleman with the Inner Cosmos podcast, and for Mental Health Awareness Month, we're dedicating a series to understanding the mind when it struggles. I'm joined by doctors, researchers, and those with lived experience. We'll talk with singer-songwriter Jewel about anxiety.
Starting point is 00:44:34 I started living in my car, and then my car got stolen. I was shoplifting. I was having panic attacks. I was agoraphobic. and making it through hardship. To be present is a learned skill, and it's hard to be present. We'll talk with John Nelson about clinical depression and the brain implant that saved his life.
Starting point is 00:44:54 What I learned is that procedure made me happy because I'm disease-free. And we'll talk with leading experts like Judd Brewer about anxiety and John Hirschfield about obsessive-compulsive disorder and the science of how the brain can change. This is a month of deep. deeply personal and honest conversations about what happens when the brain goes off course and what we can do about it.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Listen to Inner Cosmos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Wild Eggs. Great crowd here this morning. Warming up a little bit. The sun showing out. Getting ready. What's the temperature supposed to be the game tomorrow night? It's supposed to be cold.
Starting point is 00:45:40 Not short weather. I know that. You got pants now. Nice pants, bad. Yeah. You went to the pants store. I went to the pants store. That's exactly right.
Starting point is 00:45:50 Ryan, I knew you would want to mention this. Bob Costas. Bob Costas last night retired. After 42 years in broadcasting, he decided to retire. He hadn't done a lot. He did baseball for the MLB network. Not well. Why is everybody so hard?
Starting point is 00:46:08 He was horrible, man. He was awful. I think Bob Cost is good. But I was just, I was just. What you think about his career, though, for a second. He is one of the few announcers in sports history who called all four major sports. He called the playoffs in baseball, basketball, football, and he even did hockey a couple of years. He called the Olympics many years.
Starting point is 00:46:28 Remember when he got pink eye that one time at the Olympics and his eye got swollen up? He hosted a late night show. There was a time for a period of years where I think you could say, Ryan, if it was a big sporting event, Bob Costas was there. I mean, there was a period of probably 15 to 20 years that that was the case. He did have a finish that led people like Shannon to hate. He did the Yankees series. He wanted those Yankees to win.
Starting point is 00:46:55 You could tell. And a lot of people didn't like that. But he hangs it up after 42 years. He is, wouldn't you say, one of the, like, true legends of broadcasting. He's probably my hero, the guy I looked up to the most. Is that right? Your hero. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:11 Bob Costas. In this business. Well, I mean, you're being the smart, Alec. You're being a smart, Alec. I mean, Bob Costas, like, for people your age and even up to my age, Bob Costas really was kind of what it meant to be a sportscaster, right? It was. Like you said, he did all sports. I think he had this passion for baseball.
Starting point is 00:47:34 I think that drew me towards him also. You know, his son went to UK. And I never forget the day that I look up, and there's Bob Costas sitting in the game. crowd at a UK basketball game. I didn't know he went to UK. What's he doing here? And he said, yeah, his son went to UK. And so he's been here around before and then walked out with the regular people.
Starting point is 00:47:51 I was like, that's pretty cool. Yeah, I mean, did the Olympics pretty much most of my childhood through, I mean, I think he only stopped one or two Olympics ago and handed it to Mike Torrico. But, I mean, he did the Olympics forever. Yeah. I mean, it's tough to follow Shannon's emotional tribute there. Shannon seems to have no sympathy. Ryan had a Bob Costas poster on his wall.
Starting point is 00:48:12 He was a kid. What is wrong with Bob Costis? I'm going to agree with you all. I think he's a legend. When I think of watching sports as a childhood, Bob Costas is usually the voice I associate with a lot of it. I mean, you love Pat Sejack and Bob Barker. Why can't we like Bob Costas?
Starting point is 00:48:28 Don't even try to compare Bob Barker to Bob Costas. We know who the better Bob is. Bob Barker was way better than Costas. What is happened with you and Bob? No, he just. What is wrong with Bob Costs? He just let's marmy commentator. That's all he is.
Starting point is 00:48:42 I know he had a long career. That's great. Have you retired? Do you also hate Joe Buck? He's all right. He's on the border for me. I'm more of a Sean McDonagia. Tom Hart.
Starting point is 00:48:54 You know, those are my guys. Bob Costas is nice. To all the Bob Costas fans out there, sorry for Shannon just pooping on your retirement parade. Don't let Shannon speak at my retirement ceremony. Who's up next? Got straightjacket up next. I always preferred Captain.
Starting point is 00:49:12 and sun tan anyway. All right, go ahead. Straight Jack. Good morning, y'all. I've joined the program here. I hope everybody had a good Halloween. You know, he's talking about that, Stu. He, man, he complains a lot, you know, about little stuff.
Starting point is 00:49:31 But anyways. Well, I will say this. That's what worries me about him. Once the coach starts complaining about everything, that's not usually a good side. Just remember when Cal started doing. that. That wasn't a good sign.
Starting point is 00:49:44 Like the complaining about everything, that worries me straight, jacket. That's right. I mean, he makes too much money to complain. But anyways, I like seeing him set out the next three games and not participate and see how we do, you know. This is the least sympathetic segment of all time. Retire, Bob Gostis. Take a break. Bob Kyle.
Starting point is 00:50:09 Yeah. Yeah, I used to talk about, I went up there at that blue and white game. I've seen you up there, Matt Jones. Oh, I was there. I enjoyed it. You know, I had no idea how much the ticket was until a few days later, and I about fell back in it. The last time I was up there, I've seen Mark Pope and Andre Riddick up there at the Blue White Game.
Starting point is 00:50:35 And it was like five bucks to get in, you know. Yeah. But it was a real good time. this one, that's true. Well, Straight Jacket, it's nice to hear from you. Next time, say hello, all right? I'll do that. I'll tell you one more thing.
Starting point is 00:50:48 I bet your Texas A&M is glad that they, you know, went another direction where you say. Well, man, straightjack is harsh. I'll tell you that. Appreciate the call. Yeah, I mean, it is funny. I mean, A&M is now in first place in the SEC and very likely to make it's first, unless they screw up, they're going to make their first. first SEC championship game.
Starting point is 00:51:12 They got a tough one. They go to South Carolina this weekend. That actually, they might be need to be on upset a watch from there. But it is interesting. They almost ended up with Stoops. They end up with Mike Elko, and now he's having a great year. They're having a great season. And we discussed this last week, is the Stoops A&M decision still kind of a hangover that he's having, that he's kind of regret.
Starting point is 00:51:31 Do you think our fans, Drew, people bring that up? It wasn't really a deal to me at all, because to, To me, coaches are always going to consider other options. But do you think the, ma'am, why? It was like you just have our back to us. Did I make you upset? This is a Bob Costas fan. What?
Starting point is 00:51:56 Oh, son, okay. I mean, I'll get him to take back his Bob Costas comments if that makes it better. I'm not taking it back. Turn around. You're hurting me. Turn around. Drew, do you think part of our fan base is still mad about that? Maybe not mad, but I mean, it just helps people feel like it's, my dad brought you pants.
Starting point is 00:52:25 Well, it was very nice of you. I'm not wearing, what is this? Oh, volunteer checker pants. Mike Franklin is already talking trash. Mike Franklin. Those are overalls, aren't they? I would rather, I would rather freeze and shrivel up than wear these right here. What a troll move.
Starting point is 00:52:45 What a troll move from Drew's own dad. Who would have ever... He was being sympathetic. Who would have... I was like, oh, that's sweet of Drew's dad. I did too. I was like, well, this is my dad bringing Matt pants. They were in a bag.
Starting point is 00:52:55 We didn't know what they looked like until you open. Thanks a lot, Mike. Who's up next? Got Matt up next. I was just saying, I think more fans just feel like that's... It's more like it's over, and they don't feel as bad saying they want something new if he was just kind of looking for something new. No, I think that's probably true. Matt, go ahead, Matt.
Starting point is 00:53:13 Yeah, I'm just... think some of i want to look at with uh gavit wimson is i think other teams have a snap count down when he's a quarterback they have his snap count they're in the backfield when he's handing the ball off i think it really hurts his drive you that's true right and first i've heard of the may i'll be watching for that and see if they know the snap count saturday maybe you have maybe you'll help it not happen and then with stoop's i think he says all the right things in the press conferences, everything that he should hear, but we don't see the actions.
Starting point is 00:53:50 And you can only hear the right thing so many times without seeing the actions before they don't meet anything. Yeah. Well, I don't know. I mean, I appreciate the call. I think it's sort of like, Ryan, it always bothers me when players play bad and then sometimes fans end up acting like they're not good people
Starting point is 00:54:10 because they play bad. I feel like Mark has generally handled press conferences pretty well here. Now, this year, I think it's been a little bit different, but I also know how much of that is clouded by the fact that we're losing, and that makes me look at it different. He says the things that I need to hear as a fan on these postgame shows after they leave. He sounds hurt. He sounds mad.
Starting point is 00:54:30 He's owning up to it, not making any excuses. That's he, like the caller saying the right things. No, his caller saying the opposite. I think he's saying the things that I need to hear as a fan after a bad loss. All right. So here at Wild Eggs, they have potato head casers. It's the best. They have, that's topped with melty made in-house queso.
Starting point is 00:54:50 It has sausage and egg. They got breakfast tots and boozy coffee like the nutty Irishman. I love those breakfast tots. That's my favorite. Yes. So it's all here at Wild Eggs. If you don't have, if you don't go to, well, you should have been to Wild Eggs a long time ago. But if you haven't, you definitely ought to visit it.
