Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, here at the KS Bar and Grill.
I just about ripped my headset off.
859-280-20-287.
Text machine 7-7-2-7-4-5-254.
It is Election Day in Kentucky.
People are sending me pictures of their weight.
Say two-hour wait in Middletown, Kentucky.
Wow.
That's Middletown.
I guess that means Louisville, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Should be on early.
You always kind of make your projections every year.
Are you not going to do that this year?
It's the hardest one.
I mean, you know, I got it wrong.
in 2016. I thought Hillary
would win and Trump won. Actually, ended up
winning by a decent margin.
I felt really good that Biden was going to win
and then he did.
I don't know what's going to happen. I really don't.
I mean,
I think this, I think they still
don't know how to poll people, really.
Who, I mean, nobody
answers their phone. Like, I mean, who's
going to, how are you going to poll people? Like, nobody answers
their phone. So I don't know.
I think there's, like,
this is going to sound simplistic, but I think there's
three scenarios.
Scenario one is that once again they undercount Trump's people.
He wins most of the swing states and wins kind of like he did in 2016.
Scenario two is that they're undercounting women by a pretty significant margin.
She wins women show up in mass because of the abortion decision and some other things.
She wins most of the swing states and wins by a decent margin.
And then I think the most likely scenario is scenario three, where she wins Michigan, he wins Arizona and North Carolina, and it's best two out of three falls, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, two out of three, whoever wins two out of three wins.
And if that's the scenario, no idea.
I mean it.
Like, the numbers are so close.
Like, I talk to a guy who's high up in the Democratic Party.
I have a high up Democratic friend and a high up Republican friend.
I said the Democratic friend.
Who's going to win?
He said, I think we win.
We need Pennsylvania.
We needed to have 400,000 vote lead going into election day.
We think we have 415.
Well, that's pretty close.
Right?
Like you're in a awful.
Then I talked to a guy, a Republican one, and he said,
I don't know if we're going to win Pennsylvania,
but I actually think we're going to win Wisconsin.
And if we win Wisconsin, we're good.
Well, but he was like, but I don't know.
So I don't think any of them know.
So I think there's a chance.
It's Uber-Rine, Uber-close.
But if you're watching at home, here's all you need to do.
Turn all the noise off.
Turn all the noise.
Here's what you need to see.
If Trump wins Michigan, he's president.
If Harris wins Arizona or North Carolina, she's president.
Let's say that doesn't happen.
Take Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.
They're the only three states you need.
to look at whoever wins two out of three is the next president that's all that matters everything
else is just noise and do you think we will know by the end of the night no almost three i think we'll
have a good idea but we won't know for sure and i think when we get here tomorrow morning
we'll probably know but they won't announce it i'm going to make you unless it's a route
they're not going to announce it for days yeah in my opinion trump will declare victory at i think
the California polls close at 11 o'clock Eastern,
he will declare victory right then.
But that really doesn't matter.
We'll have to see if somebody announces it.
I need to know which,
do I need to go YouTube multi-view and watch all the networks?
I think you should watch none of them.
If you want the one that's the least biased, watch C-SPAN.
Because they're bringing no pundits.
They just want news.
If you want to see people scream at each other, go to CNN.
I like to go back and forth and see how they're saying completely opposite things.
Yeah.
So, and then there's the one here, the Amendment 2.
Yes.
I think that one's going to be crazy.
Because normally when you have an amendment, there's a side the Republicans want to win.
There's a side the Democrats want to win.
But on Amendment 2, there's a lot of Democrats in Louisville that are for it because they already pay for private schools and they want some money back.
And there's a lot of Republicans rural people who are against it because they're worried about their state.
about like their local schools.
So it's going to be a weird map.
Like it's going to be like, it's going to be all over the place.
I think it doesn't pass.
I think no wins.
But I think it's, I don't know because nobody's really polling it.
And so I don't know.
We talk about Amendment 1, Amendment 2.
Amendment 1.
Amendment 1 will pass.
No, there's just two.
Just two.
Okay.
There's just two.
Yeah.
And they're on the back, by the way.
So people should know that.
It's double-sided.
And if you don't turn it to the back, there's not only two.
Parks, that may be a Lexington City thing.
Yeah, Lexington has the parks.
Yeah, it wasn't in mind.
So there may be one about parks.
What's the parks?
Go parks.
You'll lose a little more of your tax dollars to help out our parks.
So that you get parks.
Yeah, that's not much.
That's Lexington only.
I didn't see that.
We need our parks.
All right, let's talk about a couple other things.
Did you know Doron Lamb and Marcus Teague have a podcast?
But not only do I know, I love it, and I have chatted with Duran about it, which made me very happy.
Duran is going to come on this show in a couple weeks.
Oh, Drew.
It's going to be okay?
To promote it.
But yes, Duran and I have talked about it, too.
They have their first episode up.
He asked if Big Blue Nation, he was like, do you think Big Blue Nation will support it?
And I said, well, I'm going to tell him to, but there is a Duran Lamb, Marcus Teague podcast.
I'm trying to get the name of it.
What's the name of it?
Uh, something.
Who up?
It should be.
It should be called Team NoSuite.
It's called Back Court Connection.
Back court connection.
Uh, Daron Lamb and Marcus Teague, uh, talking about sports.
I'll go ahead and tell you, if you want to learn more about the 2012 year, I would
encourage you to listen to it.
I would not have my children in the room.
The language is aggressive, but I loved every minute of it.
I feel like they said some things.
Maybe they should have kept to themselves.
But, uh, if you want to be able to them.
to learn more about
2012.
If you want to talk about a podcast that's really
no filter, get Duran
Lamb and Marcus Teague on a live
mic, because that's what it is.
Yeah, I hope they don't talk basketball.
I wanted to talk about everything else outside of basketball.
I think you're going to get your wish.
I like at one point, they both,
they're the first two athletes who have said,
I'm glad we didn't have an I-L.
And the host is like, why? And they're like,
we would have blown it and ruined our lives in seconds.
Yes.
They were like, we were better off not having money at that time.
Yeah, they asked.
He asked Ron Lamb, like, what if it was NIL?
And he goes, I'd have gone to Miami and spent all of it.
Yeah.
They talk about how NIL, I never thought about this, but, you know, they know players.
They're like, so many more guys are just going to go to Rutgers now, which we've seen them.
It's like guys can be selfish, be the star, and get paid.
So, you know, you hear a lot of people thinking the opposite.
You know, it just helps guys go to a big school.
But they're talking about how they would have gone to smaller schools, gotten a big check and just taking all the shots.
Wow.
So if you, if you want to see kind of.
of if today you want to get a distraction something completely different than what's going on
the world, Ron Lamb and Marcus T. You're the way to go.
Not safe for work. I cannot emphasize that enough. Do not have your, do not listen to it with
your kids, but they have their own podcast. I know what I'm doing the rest of the afternoon.
Listen to that podcast. That's right. Who's up next? Nate. Nate. How are you, Nate?
Doing good, guys. How are you? Good.
awesome first time long time who are by the way zadarius smith just traded this morning to the
detroit lion so he will probably have a chance to play for a super bowl former cat zadarius smith
they get for them good good that's very good for him gets out of cleveland and will be on the lines
but go ahead and replacement yeah no you know your post game last night mad summed up well
I mean that was just a beautiful basketball masterpiece last night I mean I know they didn't
play as efficient as they usually do, but it was just good.
You know, and our best player, Jackson Roberts had like eight or nine points,
and we still won by 41.
And, I mean, you know, he's don't get everybody's best defender.
So, you know, for us to have those multiple, for us to have those multiple options,
it's going to be really good for our team because he's going to be guarded heavily.
He's going to be, you know, the biggest of the scattering reports, you know, throughout the,
throughout the year.
So it was just good to see.
And, you know, Drew said it best, you know, Lamont Butler,
you know, take an OA in the back court.
Man, those guys right there, they're going to be some lockdown defenders,
and they're going to really make some problems for SSG guards, you know,
come throughout the season.
Listen, I think what the coolest.
They are, I appreciate the call.
They are beautiful.
The basketball, I mean, we shouldn't skip over just how pretty it is to watch.
It's so much fun to watch guys who pass, cut, constant movement, shoot well.
Like, it's just, like, that's just really, Ryan, fun to watch.
executing plays and doing it efficiently and not making any mistakes and making the right pass and making the right decisions getting open looks passing up a good shot for a great shot did that a couple times
Kurt, Kerr gave up a layup, a wide open layup to kick out for a three that we made.
The play of the night, that was the lookaway three.
Also, first play of the game, they run that play to get Andrew Carr, the wide open lob that he finished for the first two points.
At one point, they ran an inbound play for a dunk.
I didn't know you could do that.
I didn't know that was in the rules.
They ran an in-bounds play for a three.
I also didn't know what that sorcery was.
The extra pass thing is what gets me the most.
The Kerr is one example, but so many times they have an open look,
defender closes out, jumps and up, I'm going to pass it to this wide open shooter next to me because I trust them too.
And that has to be like a mentality.
Like that has, because it's infectious.
You have to do, you have to have a situation where guys do it,
which they know their teammates will do it for them, so then they do it too.
If you had one guy that if you have one guy that got selfish, I'm not sure that everybody else would do it too.
That's right.
The whole team does it.
It didn't go in, but at the end there was a sequence.
They've made so many passes all around the court to get Trent Noah wide open right after the crowd at China.
We want to know it.
He didn't make it.
But the ball movement on that was amazing.
And it was a lot of the guys that won't even be playing that much.
By the way, the second most popular person in Rupp Arena next to Mark Pope last night was Mario.
Like fans literally chanting his name from the crowd is Mario.
I mean, you know, don't act like you don't know that.
Like people just start yelling at him wherever he goes.
I saw him outside.
Right before the game doing videos, just a little celebrity.
He's much more popular than you now.
Oh, there's no doubt.
He's a superstar right now.
Like he's completely taken over.
Yeah.
Well, we look about the same.
We're both really cute, young.
You don't look the same.
Great hair.
You're not, and he's literally less than half your age.
I noticed this at the TBT this summer.
Mario and I hung out at all those games.
And like players would leave the layup line to come talk to Mario.
Fans are Mario, Mario.
That's when I knew.
We have an A-list celeb with us.
Yeah.
Somebody's going to have to bring his ego down a notch.
Because like he's getting, he's getting way too much attention.
Who's next?
Bart.
Bart.
Go ahead, Bart.
Hey, Matt.
First time, long time.
Who up?
So my question is, last week, you guys did a,
a prediction on how long you thought Mark Pope would be coach at Kentucky.
And I think the range was somewhere between 10 and 15 years.
And I don't know if you all have discussed it,
but my follow-up would be how many national championships do we win in that 10 to 15-year period under Pope?
Well, we all, I think, agreed one.
I mean, I think if he went, you know, the average national championship winning at Kentucky is won in a career.
Obviously, Rupp did more, but Joe B got one, Rick got one,
Tubby got one,
Cal got one.
So I think if you're just kind of looking at history,
I think the most likely scenario is that Mark Pope wins one.
Okay, great.
And simplest plug, but my wife's architecture firm did the renovation on historic Memorial Coliseum.
Well, it's very good.
You know, I appreciate the call.
They play Thursday night, and I just want to give a little shout to anyone that has no
plans Thursday night.
Going to that women's game would, first of all, if you have not been in that arena,
let's just say it's a lot nicer than Rupp.
Oh, yeah.
A lot nicer.
I mean, it is the most modern facility in Lexington.
It's beautiful.
The team, I know it gets overshadowed because of the men, but the women's team is fun to
watch.
They're like, you ought to go.
Because I think by SEC play, you're going to see huge crowds in there because it is a, like, it is a fun experience and it's so nice inside.
When I was there for the blue-white game, if you just don't, if you don't, you know, just block out where you are and you just look at what you see, you think you're in an NBA arena.
I mean, that's how nice it is right now.
It's the lights, the music, the scoreboards, everything is like top-notch right now.
The line of your beautiful basketball.
Shannon wanted us to remind us he's still here.
He's like, I'm going to drop the Lithuania thing and make sure people know that I'm still there.
Draft Kings, college basketball.
I won a 14-team parlay last night.
Whoa.
Well, it's a little misleading because it was all teams that were minus 2,000 or greater.
But it's fun.
Yes.
It was good because I lost the Baylor game.
But tonight, not a lot of great choices tonight.
I'm going to be honest with you.
But Idaho State plays Arizona State if you're feeling, if you're feeling important.
A little Jaden Quatens game.
Yeah, that's right.
You can go to Draft Kings promo code KSR, get your college basketball bets.
As the season gets going, Drew and I will have a pick of the night.
That'll be on the website for you to go in college basketball.
But check it out, Draft Kings, and please gamble responsibly.
We'll take a break and be right back.

And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.

from the WMBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Lela Edwards.
If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't.
Like, I've never understood that.
Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.
It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you,

Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.

Is the hardest part?
It is true, though, Shannon. Waiting
is the hardest part of anything.
There's a lot of wisdom in those Tom Petty songs.
Tom Petty was right.
And it's not just true about games or just life.
The waiting, like, think about when you go to the doctor's office and you take a test
and you're waiting for the results.
The waiting is the hardest part.
Once you know, well, you just deal with whatever it is.
But it's the waiting.
Like, I hate if a doctor calls and I can't answer it.
then you come back and go, uh-oh.
What did they need?
Like, that's the, Ryan, I find the waiting is the hardest part.
Tom Petty is right.
That's why when somebody asked this one time, what superpower would we want?
I immediately chose never have to wait in line.
No waiting, nowhere, anyhow.
That's your superpower?
Yes, my super power.
Impatient, man.
Yeah.
I don't know if that's a superpower.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Being impatient.
Don't have to wait in line.
Don't have to wait at the doctor's office.
Don't have to.
All right.
So one thing I do want to say.
if any of our listeners out there live in Chicago or close to Chicago.
On Sunday, the Matt Meyer and Pre-game Show is in Chicago at the Bayer Stadium,
and I'd love to have you come out.
They were like, we hope some of your fans will come see you in Chicago.
So it is at Soldier Field, and I'd love to have you all stop by.
Now, here's where it is.
Okay.
It is in the Vizzy Chicago Bears fan zone, Shannon.
Vizzy Chicago Bears fan zone.
Okay.
Outside of Gate Zero.
How do you spell Vizzy?
V-I-Z-Z-Y.
What is that?
And here's what they have there.
This is very exciting.
This is the kind of thing you want.
They have food, beverage, and mini monsters.
Mini Monsters.
What's a mini monster?
I don't know.
Don't know what a mini monster is.
but they're going to have them there.
But that's Sunday morning, 10 to 1 Eastern,
so that would be 9 to 12 Chicago time at the Vizzi Chicago Bears Zone.
I'm very excited because I get to go to the Bears game.
I've never been to a game at Soldier Field.
Really?
My entire life, I've seen them in Cincinnati,
I've seen them in Nashville,
I've seen them in Cleveland.
I've never been to a game in Soldier Field.
And so after we finish the show,
we get to go sit with the ESPN people in a swing.
wheat at Soldier Field.
I was there a couple years ago when they played the Chiefs.
We went to watch Devon in an exhibition game.
It's awesome.
I've been to pay my entire life and never been.
And it's not that far away.
I've just never been able to go.
That's a big game.
Many monsters is for kids.
So you'll be there with all the kids.
Oh, it's for kids?
Yeah.
Hence many monsters.
Many monsters.
Perfect place for you.
Please help me from having to listen to kids scream about their mini monsters at the
Vizzi Zone if you're in Chicago.
You're going to wear your new Caleb Williams jersey?
Yeah, I'm going to wear bears gear.
I'm going to come back with a lot of beer.
I'm buying.
The team store is getting a...
Because all my bears switch shirts kind of suck,
so I'm looking forward to getting new...
Can I ask you something as a Bears fan?
Yes.
How do you feel about Tyreek Stevenson taking himself out of practice
after he got demoted?
Well, they said he just did it for a few minutes,
but clearly, you know, that dude's not my favorite play.
Yeah.
Going back to the thing, I mean, that Hail Mary may have cost him the season.
I mean, they played so bad against Arizona.
We need a new coach, though.
Iber Fluse, he Eber sucks.
We need to get somebody new and restart.
This quarterback's too good.
Let's not waste him with a bad coach.
Let's go get somebody good.
Yeah, he's definitely super talented.
Going to be a superstar for a long time.
Let's get rid of Eber Fluse.
He's terrible.
Let's start over.
So who's next?
Tony.
Tony.
Tony.
Tony.
Tony.
All right.
No, Tony.
Luke.
Luke.
Luke go ahead Luke
Hey guys
just wanted to say one thing about the game
and one thing about the election that scares me
if I may
So one thing about the game
Everybody wants to talk about the offense
And how fun it is to watch
And I agree
But I was more impressed
By the defensive end of the floor
We got a couple of things that you need
You always need two really good perimeter defenders
And you need a shot blocker
And we have both of those
You're exactly right
And yes
And one thing about the election
So the 2020 census kind of got screwed up, and basically the Census Bureau has admitted it got screwed up,
which basically means that Florida should technically have two more electoral votes.
Okay, let's stop.
Just stop.
Listen, technically schmechnically, somebody's going to win tonight, and you can technically all the way,
whether it is Trump or whether it is Harris, we got to stop this.
Well, technically, that Florida, like we at some point in this country have to come together,
and like talking that the 2020 census may have gotten screwed up.
I just don't think that's productive, sir.
Why is that productive?
Well, here's my point.
This is why I say it scares me.
This is my point.
I'm not, I'm just, I'm saying this is my point why it scares me.
Because obviously, Florida would then sue, which goes to the Supreme Court,
six Republican justices, three of them put there by Donald Trump.
They would have had to do that a long time ago, and it's too late.
Like, it's been four years, so they would have had to do that a long time ago.
and that's not going to happen.
So I do hope people take a deep breath tonight.
I appreciate the call.
Like, it's going to be all right.
See, I don't look forward to that if we have days of stealing the election.
Oh, that's going to happen.
That's going to happen.
People are going to say that no matter who wins.
Yep.
But, like, it's going to be all right.
I hope.
Everything is going to be all right.
That's why.
That's why, say what I said yesterday.
Whoever wins, I hope they win by a lot.
Yeah.
I do.
even if it's not my guy or woman, I hope they win by a lot.
Cover the spread.
That's exactly right.
Whoever wins needs to cover the spread.
Good candidates win, great candidates.
Who's next?
Jay.
Jay. Go ahead, Jay.
Not only my first-time caller, I'm a first-time listener.
Who are?
There was something about, thank you.
Last March game, something really upset me.
What's that?
And for all the talk that Coach Pope has had about how much it means to wear,
Kentucky Jersey, what it means to the state.
We had Trevor and Travis sitting on the bench until the last three minutes.
He missed an opportunity.
His name is, sir.
His name's Trent.
Because if he's going to mean a lot to you, get his name right.
Go ahead.
I could cut out my tongue.
I'm still upset.
Those two guys were the Kentucky guys.
He missed a golden opportunity to let those two young men come in and score in the first
game of their career.
So, I mean, they play.
Just so you know, they played four minutes.
They both had it.
They both had shots.
They both missed them.
Well, yes.
So did a lot of other people have shots.
I understand.
But they're not.
Listen, I love those kids.
I'm going to, I said this on the post game show, and I may have to talk about it after the break.
How much time's left, Shannon?
Just a few seconds here, about 30 seconds.
Let me deal with that after the break, because I do want to talk about those two kids,
because I think they're both awesome.
But we also have to hear about.
I'll talk about it right after the break.
We'll take a break.
We'll be right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Everything's going to be all right, Ron.
Yes.
On my doorstep.
I love this song.
I know it's going to be all right for you because you're going to sleep fine either way.
That's one thing I know about you.
Like, you're not going to let anything.
getting your that's what i'm really worried about tonight i gave everything i had to stay up to the end
of that buccaneers cheese game last night that was a great great ending wasn't it it was awesome you think
the buck should have gone for two yes why didn't they go for two you don't give the ball back to
patrick mahomes ever you know if mohams gets the ball you're losing yep so just go for two
you gave you a chance because he hurt his ankle go for two go for two on the road you had you just
drove it down the field you got all the momentum do you see kelsey had more catches
than any person 35 or over in the history of the NFL last night had 14 catches.
Nobody that old has ever had that many catches in a game.
He's so good.
He is so good, man.
He just dominated.
Did you see Jason Kelsey's apology?
I did.
What did you think?
Do you think he needed to apologize?
I didn't think he needed to, but I mean, I guess it was fine that he did.
I never really heard I'm sorry.
I feel like there's still a little bit better right.
He didn't say I'm sorry.
Which I'm glad.
Don't apologize.
I kind of did too.
You know, he said I shouldn't have actually.
like that. I matched hate with hate and you should never do that.
Which I thought was fine, but he also didn't apologize.
You could tell there was a part of him. It was like, you deserved it, kid, but I shouldn't have done it.
Do you see that kid is on the Penn State, like soccer team? He's on some team at Penn State.
Figure it wouldn't be long. I knew they were going to find him. You knew they were going to find him.
He wanted attention. He's going to get attention.
Yeah. So on the not going for two thing, I liked it in overtime when the Bucks or when the Chiefs won the coin
toss. Baker Mayfield just throws his head back. Like, we lost.
Yep. Like, you can't give Mahomes a ball. You can't. You can't. I would bet, like,
what is more money than Patrick Mahomes with the ball needing a touchdown? Is there
anyone else in sports? Like, you know how if it was, if Jordan was down, you knew Jordan was
scored. Yeah. Right? You knew he was scoring. Is there anything else more money in sports that if
Mahomes needs a drive, he's going to go get it? No, because.
How many times have we seen him on a fourth and 18 chuck it down the field and they get that and then drive another 20 yard?
I mean, you can put their back all the way against the wall and he still seems to find his way.
I'll take my homes over anybody.
All right.
859-28027.
Remember we're at KS Bar open on Election Day.
Got some good crowd here so far.
That's good.
Monique was going to kill me if we opened today and because she was like, I don't think we should be open on Election Day.
And I go, well, you know, people are off.
All right.
So let's talk about the Trent, Noah, Travis Perry,
because I think we're going to get some version of this conversation all year.
He doesn't put them in until four minutes to go.
Some people frustrated about that.
Here's my thing.
This team, this is their first real game, right?
You got 12 players that have never played together before.
If you're Mark Pope with Duke coming up next week,
you got to be as ready as you can be because he wants to win that game.
He doesn't, he's not looking at this as a process.
He wants to go beat Duke.
So if you're doing that, Travis Perry and, excuse, Trent, O and Travis Perry are the 11th and 12th men.
I love the kids.
I think they're going to have good careers here.
But they are the 11th and 12th men.
You owe it to your team to get ready to play your best guys, get them as many minutes as they can.
It's not like they have a three years of having played together before.
I was fine with him not putting them in until the end.
if they are the 11th and 12th men,
then that's about the amount of time the 11th and 12th men get.
So, Ryan, I was fine with it.
What about you?
I would have, I would like to see him maybe just a couple minutes earlier
because the game was a 40-point blowout with 10 minutes left in the game,
but I still understand exactly what you said, the thought process.
So you might as well get used to it.
Your post-game show is, is Richie going to play tonight?
That's going to be it.
It was Trent.
Why didn't Trent and Travis playing in a little more?
But, I mean, again, I love those kids.
But the other guys are better.
They are 18 and 19 years old.
We have 23-year-old men on this team.
We have 23-year-old men.
Those kids are 18 and 19.
Like, the men are going to play.
Like, they just are.
Yeah, and I guess last night, sure,
there might be an argument a minute or two earlier
because you're up by so much.
But if you look at the minutes,
like six guys had between 19 and 21 minutes.
I mean, Kirk Reeson.
only played like 13. I want him to get as many minutes as he can right now. We play Duke in a week.
I like the Kentucky guys as much as anyone, but as you said, they're at the end of the bench.
You had a caller on the post game show that I thought was outrageous. He was like, I guess they're
just not going to be Reed then. It's like, well, no, they were never going to be Reed Shepherd.
No, they're not. We should never ask them to be Reed Shepherd. Like I said on the post game show,
just because they're white dudes from Kentucky does not mean they're Reed Shepherd.
Okay. Reed Shepherd was a special athlete. He had the best, I mean, he had, I mean, he had
the best vertical jump in the NBA
draft. Okay.
Stop. Like, they're not that.
And it's unfair to even put any
that on them. When Anzley
Almanor, think about it like this. When Anzley
Almanor started his college career,
Trent Noah was in eighth grade.
Okay.
So he's going to be a little farther
alone. Yeah. Right. And that's just
the way it is. I was glad. Once
they got in, they didn't pull the ball out.
They were still running the office.
They still playing.
Still trying to get shots.
I did appreciate that.
Trent had an open look.
Didn't go down.
Travis drove.
He got blocked, I think, but he had a, listen, those dudes are going to.
Open three, too.
Those dudes are going to play here before they're done.
Sure.
But they might not play a lot this year.
And that's just.
We got to be okay with that.
Do you want to win or do you want to feel good?
And I just don't, it's, it's been one game and we're already doing this.
Yeah.
And when, and here, I will say,
it's clear Pope wants to play 10 guys.
He likes it, and though his style requires you to play 10 guys.
There will be games this year where players are hurt,
and Noah and Perry will fill those gaps.
I do think that will happen.
Think about the 38-1 team.
There were some games where people were hurt,
and they'd insert Derek Willis or Dominique Hawkins into the platoon.
Do you remember?
Oh, yes.
That'll happen some this year as it goes on.
Who's next?
Let's go to Thomas.
Thomas.
What's up, Thomas?
Hey, Matt, I was able to get out and vote this weekend, and after reading Amendment 1,
I thought it was meant to exclude Louisville and Tennessee fans from voting.
What, what?
All right, that'll be my whiskey thief, cheap call of the day that did make me giggle.
Yeah.
It made me giggle, Shannon, right?
Yeah.
I mean, he called back like three times for that, too, by the way.
He did.
He changed his name.
Called back three different times.
for that.
Persistence.
We can see your names, by the way.
Yeah.
So if you were Tony last week and you were Thomas this week, we know.
We know.
And we know how many times you've called, too.
By the way, I found this out about Billy on the postgame show.
See, I'd never been in studio with Billy for the post game show.
If you pop up and Billy just doesn't think you're going to give a good call this time,
he just lets it go.
Billy sees all the names and he's like, last time you called,
I didn't think it was very good.
I'm not answering.
You get, he'll literally go, he gets a show off.
The power that he runs now.
It goes to Billy's head.
Yeah.
I noticed that when I was in there.
We had two callers with the same name and he's like,
we don't want both of them.
I'm like, well, it's not their fault.
They're the same name.
We don't know anything they're going to say.
We can have two people.
Somebody just called in who is called 513 times.
Would you like to take a guess who that might be?
Bob and James Town.
Bingo, you got it.
Ding, ding, ding, ding.
He is called 513 times.
Yep.
Wow.
Wow.
$513 times.
That's amazing.
I haven't called any,
I haven't called like my mom 513 times in my life.
The lady running to my district's called me 513 times.
I will say this.
Best thing about this election ending,
and I hope you win tonight.
But Kamala Harris, if you text me again,
asking for money,
I've blocked them all,
and they just keep coming.
How many phones does she have?
It's amazing.
And there'll be like one digit off I've noticed.
Yes, it's, I'm glad that, and I'm glad that we can watch games now and not just see people.
I mean, that game, the Penn State, Ohio State game, I don't know if you watch that.
It was every ad, every commercial was political.
And it was just those two.
Thankfully, hopefully that ends.
Who's next?
Well, should we go to Bob and James Town?
Sure, why not?
Go for it.
It is.
There's call 513.
Go ahead.
513, Bob.
I hope it make is good.
Man, I get that many calls about Medicare insurance every day.
Anyway, you know, another election cycle,
we're going to decide about it's time to dump the electoral college.
I mean, it's like popular votes don't matter.
It all comes down to electoral college.
What do you say?
What's your opinion?
Maybe call 500.4.
18 will be better.
I'm looking forward to call 5.
Can we just talk about that earlier in the week?
Clayton and Kroom was founded on a simple idea.

It's Clayton and Kroom.com quality leather goods built to last with Clayton and Kruh.
See that lady right there?
She's got a beer.
Aren't you glad they changed that law on Election Day?
Yes, you get to be like, otherwise 6 o'clock before you have one.
Now you can just throw it back right now.
Exactly.
So now you get to do it on election day.
I love this country.
Yes.
Go America.
We'll be right back.
KSR.

Shannon, you killed it with the
songs today. Well, thank you. I appreciate it. For those
you that can't hear him on the podcast, I'm sorry. I wish I could fix it. But
Shannon does a really, really good job with him. He even played the Wanda Baker jingle on the
pre-show this morning. Oh, did you? That's a callback from 2012. Yeah, well, you play it again
for me right now. It is election day. That's a tradition. Give me a minute. I'll pull it up here.
We'll see it. Thank you, sir. I do like the Wanda Baker jingle. She's got awesome.
Was it, she's got a plan? No, she's got a view. Vote for Wanda Baker. She's a circuit court judge.
with a view. Yeah, she has a view.
859-280-20-22-87.
This is actually an interesting comment.
This will be my tweet of the day.
Matt, I was at the Women's Clinic,
and Mark Pope said that at the end of games,
one of the reasons he will keep playing our guys
is that seating now is based on analytics.
And if you give away a lot of points at the end of the game,
it can actually factor into your seating in the tournament.
He was explaining early why sometimes it will be like that.
makes perfect sense to me.
You remember, sometimes we'd lose eight or ten points at the end of games in the last era.
Well, now they do that your offense and defensive efficiency, which looks at all points is equal,
I can see why you'd be hesitant to really bring in a different group until the very end.
I hadn't thought of that, Ryan, but it makes sense.
I hadn't thought of it at all, but he's such an analytics guy, and it's all about analytics.
I can see now why he's going to have that system to play it that way.
Yeah, the net rankings take in margin of victory.
I mean, I think it caps it like 30 or something.
It just shows they're thinking of everything going into this season.
One person writes, Matt, I wish the student section would not chant about Noah and Perry like their walk-ons.
Yeah, I don't, I think sometimes players don't like when the student section does that.
I think sometimes the walk-ons enjoy it, but I do think guys that consider themselves serious, like, rotation players don't want to be chanted.
I don't know.
I can't speak about Noah and Perry, but I know there have been guys in the past that have felt that way.
I said this last night. They were doing it a little too early and a little too much.
You know, I think we used to do it for Brian Long and Sam Malone.
That's a little different to me.
I know everybody likes to Kentucky Boys, if you want to see them do it, but it does kind of, in their mind, it's almost like a sympathy.
Yeah, it's almost like it's like a circus side show or something.
And they consider themselves. I mean, I don't know about those two guys in particular, but I know we have had.
players in the past that sort of didn't like being considered like that.
Yeah, didn't Brad Caliperi even say one time.
Brad didn't like it.
He didn't like it.
They're trying to tell me to shoot and he said, I know when to shoot.
Yeah.
One person writes, yeah, Brad, I think especially.
There was a lot of shoot at Brad and Brian Long.
Brad, no matter where they are on the court, everyone would yell shoot.
Brad was not a fan.
One person writes, man, I think part of the problem is we're used to freshmen leaving if they don't play.
we have to get adjusted to an era where our freshmen may not play,
but they still come back and then play a year or two later.
I think that's true.
That's fair.
I think we've had freshmen that if they didn't play, we're gone.
That may not be the case in the Pope era.
He may have guys who are here for the duration.
Yeah, I think that's exactly what we're in.
And these two guys we're talking about are guys that I think could be here for four years.
They want to play here.
They want to be here.
They've got to buy their time right now.
All right.
You got the Wanda Baker song?
I got it.
Okay, for those of you here in the restaurant, I'm sorry you can't hear it.
But it's an election day tradition.
Wanda Baker, who ran for judge in Louisville.
You also got to get leading with Edelon.
Oh, yes.
We got to do a leading with Edelon, too.
But go ahead.
Let's do Wanda Baker.
I'm Wanda Baker, and I approved this message.
Vote for Wanda Baker.
She'll help you.
Make it your judge.
You know.
to do
vote for Wanda on November 6
Vote for Wanda on November 6th.
She needed a different verse right there.
After she said,
Vote for Nwanda on November 6th.
I think she needed something else right there.
The date is important.
If you vote on November 7, they won't count.
That won't count.
All right, we need Leading with Eidland.
I thought her keyboardist was a little heavy there,
taken away from her message, too much music.
Would we agree that leading with Edelon?
It's the best.
Wanda was the first who got it started for us on this
show, but Leading with Eelan's the best.
I feel like these candidates don't do enough songs in the world.
They don't.
All right, here we go.
Leading with Eam.
So remember this name.
If you want a governor to truly be leading,
the only choice is Eadle.
He's a man you can trust.
Leading with Eadlead.
Means more yet for us.
Leading with Eden.
Better health care is great.
We're about to pick up.
Lead in with Eden.
Education's first.
All right.
Here we go now.
Beating with Eden means Ben must go.
Beating with Eden.
It means Kentucky will grow.
And the best Democrat for God.
Oh, that's such a great song.
Wow.
And those of you here that can't hear it and just hear my occasional a cappella, it's not as good, I understand.
But Leading with Edelon, best campaign song.
The Better Health Care is great lyric.
A little weak.
A little weak.
We could have tweaked that one a little bit, but otherwise it was good.
But the key change.
Not a lot of campaign.
singles have a key change. And for people who don't remember, the guy who wrote that, wrote the saved
by the bell theme. That's right. That's right. So stop hanging things on my door. Stop calling me and get
in the lab with your band and put out some good music. Get a song. Get a song. Yeah, we want to hear your single.
Yes. 859-28027. Next to teach me about Kentucky, the best Kentucky generated song of all time.
All right, so, cats, after to get last night, do you feel better?
Same about the season.
I think you predicted eight or nine losses.
I think we're going to be better than that.
I do.
I think we're, I'm more at like six or seven.
I feel better than I did to start the season because they're better defensively than I thought they were.
Yes, I agree with that.
I mean, we've already talked about, you know, the lockdown defenders on the perimeter.
Williams in the middle.
I just think this is a team that's just going to get better and better as the season goes on.
And by the time we get to March, I hope we're making a good run.
And just the depth, I mentioned, like, six or seven guys played 20 minutes.
We worry about with this style, having a cold night.
Well, when you got so many guys, it's going to be tough for everyone to be cold at the same time.
That's right.
So many pieces that you can put in with some confidence.
Well, when you watch last night, at first, the starters played much better than when they went to the bench.
But then in the second half, the bench actually played just as well, if not better, than the starters.
So, I mean, I think that's an example of what you're talking about.
Depending on the night or even the half, you'll have different guys playing well.
Eight points from Jackson Robinson and you still score 103.
Yeah, you had 18 from Kobe Brea.
You know, like we said, it was just good to see him kind of win
and how they can score points without depending on the three-point shot the entire game.
Yeah.
All right.
