This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
All right, welcome in this Wednesday edition of Kentucky Sports Radio, Wednesday, November
the 6th.
We just heard the sirens in downtown Lexington because they do it at the first Wednesday of
every month.
Ryan Lim and Drew Franklin, Matt Jones will be here shortly.
You know, we all have lived on the west side of Lexington.
And we've all been stuck by that train on Forbes Road.
Forbes will get you.
Got Matt this morning.
That train on Forbes Road got him this morning.
So he'll be here just a little bit.
Of course, every episode of Kentucky Sports Radio sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office called T.J., what's you do, Shannon?
He'll make them pay.
He'll make them pay.
You give us a call, and the Clark's Pump and Shop phone line, 859-280-287.
The Aviation Glass Text Machine, 772, 7754.
And we'll have our whiskey thief call the day later today.
So while we're waiting on Matt to get here to break down what happened yesterday in the world,
I got a call that said Frederick Douglass had to send an ambulance to the polling place
because somebody knocked themselves out running into a poll.
Oh, you're going to call me out already.
I had an adventure at the polling place.
I don't know why they put that column there, but when I was voting yesterday, I'm focused, Ryan.
You know, we got all these amendments.
There's three of them.
That's a lot of amendments to go through.
A lot of amendments to keep straight.
That's after I had to get through all the people I don't know.
I turned and walked straight into a pole and hit my face.
It was very loud.
My wife was on the other end of the gym.
She heard it.
It startled the people around me.
It shook the booths.
Shook the whole building, I think.
I was pretty embarrassed.
Did you have to wait very long?
No, actually, I got very lucky.
I saw some pictures of long lines, and I went at lunch.
I was like, it is what it is.
I'm just going to go.
Not many people there, but oh, look who it is.
There he is.
I did make my presence known at the polls yesterday.
Ladies and welcome to Matt Jones.
Hello there. Sorry about that.
Let me just say before we get started, I don't like trains.
Don't like them.
They get, they stop.
What is, would you say that depot is called over there?
Forbes.
The train just goes, it like goes one direction, then goes back the other, and then back the, I was sitting there for 15 minutes.
What are they doing over there?
Well, I don't know this, but at the Corman Train Depot over there, I think they can load up.
then they have to back out and go down another area to load up some more, something else.
So that's why it goes back and forth.
I don't like that.
It's like they're parallel parking.
Yes, it took forever during that time.
So let me get situated here.
Can we take an early break, Shannon, then do a long break?
We've been on for 20 seconds.
All right, 20 seconds.
Then we won't do that.
First of all, welcome everybody here.
Did you do the Clark's Pump and Shop thing?
I tried.
You may want to go over to here.
Clark's Puppet Shop phone lines 859-280, 2287.
A Vision Auto Glass Text Machine, 772-724 in this edition.
Sponsored by the T.J. Smith-Law, this call T.J. O'Make-May.
It's good to see you guys.
Welcome in.
I had to drive from Louisville today, but I got here.
We've all been living on the west side of Lexden,
and that train track has got us all at some point.
It has.
But I guess the big news today, we have a new president, or we will,
and it's the same as the old president.
Donald Trump wins yesterday.
Can I go through my day with you yesterday?
Anxious to hear how you spent it.
So I was in Louisville and went, it was like, you know, I watched the Champions League.
All right.
And then I went in eight.
And then it was time I decided I'm not going to sit and watch election results.
I'm going to go to the movies.
Go to a movie.
And not only that in mind, I'm not going to go to the movies.
I'm going to go to two movies.
Yeah, that was the plan.
One at seven and one at 940.
All right.
So I went at seven and I went and saw Saturday night.
How was it?
Eh, it's all right.
It's a lot.
Would I like it?
Watch it if it's on Amazon or something, okay?
I don't think you need to watch it.
It's okay.
But then I decided I had like an hour between the two movies.
I walked back to my house.
Got on my phone and within, this is now like 840,
within two or three minutes, it was clear to me who had won.
You could just tell when you looked,
there were a couple things I wanted to see,
and you could just tell, especially in the Virginia,
things because like she wasn't doing as well in the suburbs as Biden did she wasn't doing as well
in the African-American areas as Biden did and I was like she's losing yeah so I went back to
the movies for conclave and I was like well Donald Trump's going to be president but you know how
you then get to a point where you're just like okay I mean that's the way it's going to be so
I'm going to enjoy this movie first of all conclave excellent really excellent I really liked it
Not everybody will love it because, you know, well, you just won't all of it.
But very good.
You know the dude from Schindler's list, Ray Fines?
Yes.
Do you remember that guy?
I do. He's great in it.
Okay.
But the guy sitting, a few seats from me started snoring in the middle of the movie.
Kind of remind me of you because, you know, now you get those like, you get those big loungers.
Oh, yeah.
And people fall asleep.
Oh, yeah.
So I had to figure out, how do I get this guy to stop snoring?
And honestly, I want to thank the guy for snoring.
took my mind completely off the election.
I went completely from Donald Trump's going to be president again to what can I do to get this dude to stop snoring?
I started by coughing.
Loudly?
Like really loud, thinking if I coughed really loud, maybe that would wake him up.
Did it work?
Did not.
I considered throwing popcorn at him.
I knew that was coming.
Yeah, I would have done that.
Just little kernels of popcorn.
Yeah.
So finally, I just walked like I was going to the restroom, walked by,
and accidentally bumped into his recliner.
Uh-huh.
Is that fair or fact?
Oh, it's fair.
Definitely fair, yeah.
I just sort of barely touched it.
Yeah.
That woke him up.
It's loudly snoring.
He didn't fall asleep again the rest of the movie,
and I was able to enjoy the rest of the movie.
I'm sure the other people in the theater were thankful you did that.
They probably were getting annoyed too.
I like that you're now using subtlety instead of just yelling out in the theater.
My man, my man, my man, wake up.
I wasn't going to scream at him.
Hey, dude, wake up.
I was going to, you know, I was trying to be subtle.
So then I finished, you know, the movie's probably done 11-145 or something.
and it's very late at night.
At that point, it's very clear who has won,
and I have text messages from a lot of people, you know, asking my opinion.
And I actually went to bed and was, you know, able to sleep.
But congrats to Donald Trump and congrats to all of you that listen,
that I know hoped he would win and that are very, very happy, you know.
I said yesterday, I hoped whoever won, it was by a substantial amount,
and that's what happened.
I mean, he won basically all the swing states.
I kind of hoped one of them would do that.
I mean, I hoped my person would do it, but he did.
And I think that is good for the country that we don't fight about it for the next two months.
But, you know, four more years of Donald Trump.
Are you excited?
I just said, look, you should have seen his face when I asked him that.
You had to look like, why did you ask me that?
Yeah, you did a great job doing your monologue.
I'm going to like, you know, maybe tiptoe around it a little bit.
But are you glad that there won't be a big long fight for it?
I am.
That is probably the best thing that could have happened.
Yes.
And now we just got to hope that we don't stay divided.
We're all on the same team, you know, so let's just try to fight together.
Yeah, I tried to follow it last night.
It's too many counties.
I just feel like they're teaching me about.
Too many counties or too many states?
Too many counties.
Oh, because they're counting by county.
Oh, yeah.
Both.
I went back and forth between CNN and Fox.
way too many county talk.
I fell asleep and woke up to the news.
I mean, like everyone else, I'm hoping we can all come together and hope for the best.
Like Ryan said, we're doing too much fighting between ourselves.
We're one team.
We've now made the decision.
Let's move forward and just.
Yeah.
Well, I hope it goes as best as it can.
I said this on Twitter, and this will be all I say about the election analysis part of it,
but it's worth saying.
The thing I like about this show and the thing I've liked about this show for 14 years is
that like there are people even in this bar today I'm sure who disagree with me on on stuff but we
listen and I feel like everybody really respects each other I hope we get back to that in politics
being a Democrat I tend to like complain about my side a little more because I I don't think
the Democratic Party knows how to talk to the people in places like Kentucky I just don't think
they know how to talk they they see Kentucky with disdain and it comes through and I think that
hurts them. I don't think it's also a secret that Trump will call people names and do all of that
as well. I hope we're able to get past that. Probably won't for a while, but I hope we do. But I am
glad that at least I will tell you for me, I'm taking a break from falling to see any of it for a little
while. Because I just, you know, when I was in Europe, I really enjoyed not having people be
contentious. And I think at least personally, I'm going to try to get back to that for a while. I'm
sure I won't be great at it, but like, it's not worth it.
And like last night, not following it, didn't get involved in any of the arguments,
and I felt good about it.
Well, I found out who our president was by Shannon the dude and Billy R Sports on the pre-show
this morning.
That's where you got your news?
Where else would you get your news?
Shannon the dude is your Tom Brokaw.
Yeah, I didn't watch any of it last night.
You didn't watch any of it?
Nope.
And then you got up this morning and you didn't check.
Took a shower.
I turned on the radio.
This is what I love about you.
You weren't even curious.
who won this morning?
Yeah.
I probably turned on the radio.
I thought I'll hear it on the news report,
but I got it in a shower and I missed it.
But then so as soon as the pre-show started.
So you got up.
You are amazing to me.
You got up.
I can understand not watching it.
But you got up and didn't even want to know.
Oh, I wanted to know.
But you wanted to hear it from Shannon.
I wanted to hear it from Shannon.
I hope I did a good job for you,
broke it down on the electoral votes.
I do have another question to ask you about this.
Feel free.
You want to ask Matt.
Yeah.
Why are you asking Shannon?
He's your news reporter.
Is J.D. Vance now the most famous person to be on this show?
No, I don't think he is.
Who is?
Well, are we talking worldwide or in America?
In America, it will be him.
Worldwide, it's probably still Roger Federer.
Yeah.
But, I mean, he may be here worldwide, too, at some point here relatively soon.
Probably the guy who's actually been on as a guest.
You know, Federer just said, hey, what's up, Big Blue Nation or whatever he said?
I consider that being a guest.
By the way, in Kentucky, just a couple of things.
The Amendment 2 failed, lost every county.
Did it lose every county?
All 120 counties voted no.
I can't remember the last time that's happened for anything.
All 120 counties.
I didn't know that.
It was 6535.
And then Ryan's won endorsement.
Yeah.
She won.
She did win.
Probably on the back on the heels of your support.
I think she's the first African-American woman to be on the Kentucky Supreme Court.
And you...
And I endorsed her.
You took her over the top.
I took her over the top.
So, anyway.
Now, what about the Lexington Parks?
Yeah, we're good.
I was for the parks.
What happened?
We got a yes.
Good. Parks are going to get a little money.
I didn't understand what that was.
What happened?
I think they're making a tax.
Setting aside more money for it to take care of the parks.
So they're pro park?
Yes.
We are a pro park community.
I did not get an update, Shannon, on who won our soil and water commissioners and whether
or not any of the four that I picked one.
Yeah, do you have strong fillings about it?
Your soil and your water?
I just picked the four women because I was like, I feel like they're going to care more about the soil and water.
Oh, females care more about the soil than men.
I think women like water.
Interesting decision.
I don't know if they do, but I feel like they do.
I thought we had two options and I'm thinking, well, why not give her soil and her water problem solved?
There we go.
Focus instead of putting too much on their place.
Yeah, just divide it.
You get the soil.
We'll vote maybe who gets soil.
You get the water.
There's two of them, two things to tackle it.
And let's work together.
Yeah, that's how we should be in the country.
That's Drew Franklin's view of how you do America.
But on our Lexington ballot, it said select four, but there were just two names.
And then they had writing on.
So what do they do for the other two?
People got a right in somebody, I guess.
But it said select four.
I think we've talked about this before.
When there's only two, four, when you have to elect four and there's only two spots,
I think whoever gets written in has to do the job.
So, like, I think if you pick Ryan, he is forced to be a soil and water community.
or whether he wants to be or not.
You get a knock on your door that night and they tell you you have to quit your job.
Sorry, you're not a radio host anymore.
Soil and water.
Tell your kids goodbye.
I'm pro water.
I'm killing you right now.
I'm very pro water.
Well, now there's also the guy that I bet.
Oh, yeah.
You remember?
I bet a guy.
What's on the menu?
Well, no, no.
I said he would cook for me.
I said how I would buy him.
Okay.
Yeah, I'm not cooking.
But I said I would buy him a steak dinner.
and, you know, I hope you like Western sizzling, because that's what we're going to do.
But I pay up my bets.
Yeah.
Do I have to go?
I think that was part of the deal.
Yeah, he needs your company.
Well, we don't do steak anymore, so we can't do it.
I already missed, I said steak dinner, so I will do that.
Waffle House has got steak, steak and eggs.
Just give him brisket.
I don't think I'm going to do it.
I'm not going to give him an actual steak, right?
I don't think Womhouse is a good compromise.
I will pay up.
I did the bet.
859-2-80-22-87.
The text machine is 772-7-4-5-25-4.
I don't want, hopefully, like, I want you all to call, but not about the election.
I think that wouldn't be a fun show.
We're going to talk about Kentucky and other stuff.
We will take a break and be right back.
We're here at KSbar on a rainy Wingsday here on Kentucky Sports Radio.

Welcome back.
This is what?
Is this Josh Turner, Shannon?
Yep.
Long Black Train.
Yes.
Did he have any other songs besides this one?
Oh, he had that I willing to come on baby pull them shades down and turn the lights down low or something like that.
Oh, wow.
That was a good version of it.
I like it.
Come on, baby, turn the lights down low.
I got some folks here from Whitesburg, Lecher County.
They had a race where that state Senate race where everybody had to write in the votes.
What?
Well, the guy died.
It was sad.
Johnny Ray Turner, he died.
He was a state senator like three or four weeks before the election.
So they didn't have time to put the names on the ballot, so it was all right-in-counted.
And I don't know.
I didn't see who won't.
Well, to take days and days to figure it out, won't it?
No.
I mean, it still works the same way.
You just have a, you just put a name on there and you write it.
But you had to declare yourself as a writing candidate or the vote doesn't count.
I see.
So I don't know.
There were like 11 can.
I'm not sure who won.
859-280-2-807.
I want to, let's switch gears for a little UK basketball.
All right.
All right.
So Mark Pope said after the game, we talked a lot about the fact that they won and that he was excited and all that.
But he also said something interesting.
He said during the off-season, he went to a college basketball referee clinic.
He said he wanted to go to the clinic to not only meet the referees of the SEC.
but also to know how it is they do their job.
He said he thought if he went,
he would understand why they call this foul or that foul,
and it would make him better prepare his team.
And when I read that, I thought, you know, that's kind of brilliant.
Yep.
Right?
Like that's kind of brilliant.
Rather than sit there and say,
the refs stink, the refs suck,
how about you actually try to understand how and why they make the calls they make,
I loved it because I felt like it's such an analytical,
intelligent approach, Ryan, and I really enjoyed that.
Yeah, you know, it's super smart to do that.
Coming into a new conference for the first time,
he's trying to get, learn everything he possibly can about all the teams
and now including the official.
So do you think that will be more successful than just,
than screaming at them, group?
I definitely think it will.
I'm looking forward to it.
Such a nerd thing to do.
It is a nerd thing to do.
I mean, most people in that profession think,
oh, I'm just going to take off my jacket and throw it,
or I'm going to call him out in the press conference to get fined,
or I'm just going to yell about it.
He, as a very intelligent person,
wants to go learn what they're thinking
so he can better understand why they're making those calls.
And I assume him doing that will lead to maybe Kentucky
getting more favorable things as well.
It's a really smart thing to do.
Like, rather than say,
I mean, this honestly has parallels about last night.
Rather than say, you're dumb.
You disagree with me.
why don't you say why do you think the way you do?
Right?
Same thing with the referee.
Rather than just get angry at the calls,
how about you figure out why they're calling it this way or that way?
And I genuinely believe if Mark Pope gets along with these referees,
you got a better chance of getting a call or two in a game than if you're screaming out.
Screaming at him the whole time?
I've always thought that.
So is this something a lot of coaches do or maybe even new coach at the conference?
I'm not sure.
I mean, they may be a lot of them that do it.
I had never heard of a coach.
coach doing that, but, but he clearly did.
Yeah, he said he goes there for two days.
He watches them watch film and talk about why they make calls or what should be called.
Oh, is that right?
It sounds horribly boring, but, um, I mean, I think it's going to benefit him in the long
run.
Yeah.
Yeah, and, you know, I've noticed during these games, like he doesn't, he doesn't yell at the,
at the officials.
He told his players, I don't want you to think about a call the entire game.
He was like, you can't control it.
He said, don't even think about it.
And I will say, last year especially, I felt like our team whined about calls way too much.
I don't know that we've always done that, but it felt like last year to me,
we had a lot of times where it was like just complaining about call.
I love Rob Dealingham, but he was one of the worst about it.
It does feel like that that probably, I bet referees don't want to be showed up by coaches,
but I bet they really drew don't want to be shown up by players.
Yeah, I can remember some of that recently.
even just some of I missed a shot, I'm going to slouch and you look up, your man's gone the other way for a layup.
There was a lot of that.
Hopefully, Pope, you know, he preaches a lot of discipline.
As you said, ignore it and move on.
Hope we don't see as much of that.
Yeah.
So an interesting, another example of how I feel like they are coaching this team intelligently.
Well, in the press conference, I think it was the first question.
He talked about a frontal cortex or I'm like, what are you even talking about?
We're not a bunch of WebMD Binnings down here.
He talks about frontal cortex?
Yeah.
I'm Googling what he's talking about.
What did he say about frontal cortex?
He told him to use more of their frontal cortex and less of their limbic system.
So then I have to Google Olympic system.
And there's just...
But what was he mean?
What did he mean?
I don't know.
I'm just saying it's he's very intelligent.
And when we're getting answers in these things, it's...
You got a decision-making part of the brain.
Hang on.
What you say, Shannon?
He's talking about like your decision-making part of your brain,
then the other side, your emotional side of the brain,
and how those things all tie together in a basketball game.
And he wants us to use our what part of the brain?
I think frontal cortex.
Yeah, that sounds right.
Not your limbic system.
And which one does which?
The limbic is the emotional part of your brain.
So he's trying to get you use more of your frontal part to make the decisions and not to make them depending on your emotions.
This is all one minute.
Did you know that?
Oh, yeah.
I used to be a brain surgeon back in the day.
So, well, that's interesting.
So he wants you to use the thinking, not the emotional.
Well, it makes sense.
It does make sense.
You know, Pope almost went to medical school, so he's got to be one of the few coaches that would know that.
How many coaches bring that up to their first comment in a press conference?
I was confused.
I don't think there's a lot.
I haven't heard Bruce Pearl say that.
Who's up first, Shannon?
Elijah.
Elijah.
Elijah.
Can you hear me?
Yeah.
Go ahead.
Hey.
Hey, I was a good call in.
Just listening to you guys talk about the learning how the referees, you know.
officiate the game. I show horses for a living. And if you know how a judge is judging your
horse and looking at your horse and whatnot, you're definitely way better prepared and you'll be
way more successful. So good on Mark Pope. He's smart coach. I'd also like to say, I know you
talked about it a little yesterday, but Big Blue Nation needs to settle down on them Kentucky kids.
Like, we watch 35 minutes. I got a lot of feedback about that comment yesterday.
day. So you got, did you agree with me or did you agree with the call?
I agree with you 100%. We watched 35 minutes of experience, good college basketball players play.
And whether they want to admit it or not, when them kids have walked on the floor,
they look like high schoolers. And that's okay. They're a fine. They're 18 years old.
And I think with NIL, those kids are already Kentucky legends. They'll get the money.
They'll stick around. And they'll be Kentucky legends when they're,
they're done here. Totally agree with that. I appreciate the call. There were a lot of people that
reached out to me on that call yesterday about Noah and Perry and like whether they should play
more. And there were people on either side, to be honest with you. But I, this is nothing against
Noah and Perry because I do think both of them can not only play here, they can be good. That is a
grown men versus young guys comparison when you look at these older guys on our team versus them.
Do you agree?
Yes, yeah.
The way they play, the experience, their bodies,
I had no problem with the guys coming in late.
I just thought maybe it could have gone just a couple minutes over.
But why?
Just because it was a 40-point blowout.
But what about what Pope says about the margin matters
and the analytics matter for tournament seed?
He's smarter than I am, so he knows what he's doing.
Yeah, he was using his frontal cortex.
Yeah, substitution.
Exactly.
Your emotional lobes would say put in the Kentucky kid.
Yeah.
Your frontal cortex says we need a good seed when we get.
get to the tournament. We'll be right back. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make
them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back. Tech Sports Radio. 859-280 2287. Text machine 772, 775-4. One person writes,
Matt, I do not believe you that you weren't on your phone. You care about this stuff as much as
anybody I know. I don't believe you didn't take your phone to the movie theater. I didn't.
didn't take it to the movie theater didn't even look at it i looked at it a lot in the afternoon
and then i was like what if this is not accomplishing anything why am i doing this so i watched
uh the champions league soccer uh in between the two movies i watched the canes win they've won
seven in a row just just for the record they're they're hot they're hot i'm my my hockey fever
i'm my cany actness is is rolling you got to try to go to a go to a game yeah for sure i'm gonna
go to a couple of them this year i'd like to they're in columbus
they're in Columbus at the same time we play Texas.
Oh.
So if I go to that game, I don't know.
How am I going to watch the football game in order to be?
I guess I could watch it at the arena and then do the post game show.
If only we were about to drive all over America, surely there's somewhere.
I looked.
If they were anywhere on the trip, we would go, but they're playing up in the Northeast.
And I thought about even taking us that way to try to catch a game,
but I don't feel like we could get there quite on time.
I just mentioned this to Ryan during the break, but I had to.
politely declined an invitation to elf the musical on all our behalf because it's while we're on
our way to Seattle. But they were listening and reached out. Well, that's nice. They probably like
the, uh, they did, but, uh, unfortunately, the timing doesn't work out there. Uh, 859, 280,
2287. One person writes, Matt, the thing I like about our team is the experience and how hard
they play. I think if you played Noah and Perry, you'd get a lot of the problems we've had recently
with Cal's team. I, I think that's right. I mean, again, this,
nothing against those kids. This is how it used to be. Like it used to be the freshmen didn't come in and
play a lot. We're used to, we've gotten our minds completely changed by how the team has been recently,
but it used to be that you didn't expect a dude to come in from Lyon County, be bulked up and
ready to play. I would just ask you, look at their bodies. Like just physically look at the bodies of
the top guys and then look at Noah and Perry. It's just a different world.
Like we said yesterday, at least I'm glad they kept playing.
You know, when those guys put in, they didn't, you know, pull the ball out and just run the clock down as well.
They were still running their offense, making cuts.
They got a couple shots off, you know.
That's more than they're going to get in a lot of games.
But that story I told about, I mean, Ansley-Almanor, when he started college, Trent Noah was in eighth grade.
I mean, like, there you go.
Matt, think about the kids going to college and the other kids in eighth grade.
You're not going to expect them to get to play with each other.
It's crazy how expectations for them flip, too.
I mean, until Pope, Trent Noah wasn't even going to be on this team.
Didn't even have much of a conversation to be a Kentucky commit when Cal was here.
And we all knew Travis Perry wouldn't going to play much.
So just because Pope's here and the systems change,
I don't think we should be expecting too much out of them more than what they're going to be doing.
One person writes, Matt, let me ask you a question.
I bet you haven't been asked.
With Trump winning, what changes might happen in sports?
It's actually a really good question.
Here's the biggest.
The biggest change is, I will make you a bet.
You write this down.
Okay.
The Live Tour PGA thing, they'll end up back together, probably pretty soon.
Because the biggest hindrance of it was the Department of Justice,
and I bet they'll, in a Trump administration, they'll just let them merge.
So that, to me, will be the biggest thing.
That's a big deal.
That's a big thing.
But I bet you that happens, whether that's good or not, is in your own personal belief,
I think basically the Saudis are going to own the golf tour
and we're going to be playing the PGA tour will be a Saudi golf tour
but I do think that'll happen and then I think in college sports
I think there's two big changes one is going to be the NIL bill is going to look
different I had assumed you would get a Republican Senate and a Democratic House
it's looking like you might get all Republicans in all three
at which point they will pass a bill that will be much more pro the colleges
rather than the players.
And then you have to see if the Supreme Court will uphold it.
But I think now there was going to be a settlement either way,
but I think now it will swing more in favor of the colleges.
That's just my guess.
And then the other one is Title IX.
I mean, there's a part of the Trump administration that wants Title IX,
maybe not to go away, but to be changed.
So, you know, if you're an advocate for women's sports, that might change.
I think those are the ones that stick out to me the most.
A lot of sports, it won't really have any effect either way.
On the live, he even gave Bryson a shout out last night.
He did.
And I saw Rory McElroy this morning said the exact same thing I just said.
And they're all friends with him because they play golf with him, so they know.
I think you're going to have one golf tour again, but I also think it's going to be like a Saudi golf tour just in America.
and whether that's good or not, I guess,
is your own personal opinion,
but I do think that's very likely.
It's interesting.
You don't know to follow it.
See what's going to happen.
Yeah, but it's probably good for golf to put them back together.
But I think you'll see that.
Who's up next?
Charles.
Charles.
How are you, Charles?
Doing well, doing well.
So I'm just trying to think about the differences between the, you know,
two coaches.
And one coach I see, you know, he takes the names of the referee
so he can, you know, yell at them in the game.
And, like, the next coach, you know, he's probably going to know them personally,
you know, probably give them like a bag of cookies or something before the game and, you know, greet them and ask them about their family.
I could totally see Pope's wife making the referees cookies, can't you?
Or Pope doing like the Ted Lasco biscuit drop off into the locker room.
Like, welcome to Lexington.
I made you biscuits.
The more I watch Ted Lasso, Mark Pope is Ted Lasso.
Yeah.
Mark Pope is a smarter Ted Lasso.
Ted Lasso is kind of like not, he's kind of like a little.
dumb but awesome.
Mark Pope is that but smart.
He's Ted Lassel.
You're right.
He's going to bring him biscuits.
He is going to bring the referee's biscuits.
Yeah.
So then here's my next thing.
So you know how some people think, you know, because something happened like they, you know,
stood in the shower, they could affect a game or whatever.
Yes.
By some people you meet me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Pretty much.
Well, I have this thing now where, you know, I want everything to be like it was.
was back in 96. And I was just thinking, you know, you know, take that just a little bit,
you know, farther. Are there anything that you guys are kind of like, okay, let's bring this back.
We got to bring this. That's a great question. What kind of things do we need?
What from UK basketball? Since the 90s are back with UK basketball, I appreciate the call.
If you could bring something back from UK basketball of the past and bring it to this era,
besides the tongue, which I think is what a lot of people would say, his daughter,
was wearing a shirt that had the tongue on it the other day.
Oh, I can see that.
Yeah, on Monday.
Besides the tongue, is there anything from UK basketball past you would like to see brought back?
I know we discussed this earlier.
I mentioned the denim uniforms.
I think it's cool if they'd bring that at least just one game.
One game bring the denim uniforms.
Somehow find a way to have the camp out again.
I know they can't have it where they...
That's not going to happen though this year.
I mean, like something they could do this year that would be like something from the past that was fun that they could do.
I'll tell you what I loved from his playing days at Kentucky was that starting in line-up music.
I don't know what they're using now.
Did they bring that back?
The Bulls music.
Yeah.
Are they using that?
Yeah.
Okay.
They used the Bulls music.
So they did use the Bulls music.
Okay, I like that.
That's good.
What else?
I wish that the, I kind of think it would be fun.
This is, the school can't do this as much as it would be the fans and the students if they
they would do the three chant.
You know what I mean?
Back when Patino was here, every time they would shoot a three while it was in the
air but we go three yeah and then if they i think that would be kind of cool to do because we're
going to take a lot oh yeah patty who comes to our shows does the the three is in the corner where they
put up the sign yep i think they've been doing that for a while but hope they put a little more
do the chant no but i and i hope they'll put a little more emphasis on those three counters now too
that's a big part of the offense yeah i'm trying to think what else would be good i mean the the
traditions one we shouldn't bring back was the claw thing no that failed that was really terrible
yeah don't bring that one back i i love
like the new tradition of doing a victory lap after the game to meet the fans around the
feet i like that what about the uh silver uniforms i'm okay with that maybe one game oh you would
want the silver uniforms back why not just one game you know interesting a road game maybe the road
game against ohio state or clemson or somebody i don't have no problem with that i thought this
what about the icicles oh the apex bring back the apex you got to do that this for a long time
kentucky has been terrible at alternate throwback jerseys yeah louis
I hate Louisville, but if I will give them one compliment, they're good at it.
They're so good at it.
Logos.
Kentucky finally did one last year or two at the 92, but they should be doing a jersey all the time.
The icicles would be cool.
Yes, it would.
I mean, having the i.ic, doing a game of icicle, doing a game of denim, the silver, I'd like it, but I don't know that people would love that, but I would love to see those.
The dillums coming back.
Get ready.
Yeah.
I want them to like hang another job.
Jersey and the rap, like at least one a year.
You know, we'll be kind of straight away from that.
One a year.
That's too many.
Get a little crowded.
That's too many.
You don't, we don't need one a year.
Why not?
Well, but I mean, because it's supposed to be special.
If you give one a year, we're going to end up giving one.
I mean, over time, you'll end up giving one to a player from every season.
There's going to be a lot of laundry hanging out there.
That's going to be a lot of stuff up there over time.
On that note, I love the Judds, but we need another banner next to the Judd's
banner next to the Judd's banner.
I've even had announcers for ESPN, pull me aside and be like, what's up with the one,
banner up there. It is weird that we only have the Judds up there. What else would you put up there
besides the Judds? There's nothing wrong with the Judds banner. It's just it's been the only one up
there for so long and needs some company. That's interesting. I was at Madison Square Garden and
they have a Billy Joel banner and the other banner is fish. And I was thinking of all the people
that have been at Madison Square Garden. I get Billy Joel. He's from New York. But how did you
decide to put fish up there? I just think that's odd. They probably played their
a lot.
Yeah.
But why are the Judds up there?
Because that's not even Ashley.
That's why Nona and Naomi.
It has its own spot on the wall.
Like, it's completely by itself.
They did it on their farewell tour, right?
Yeah.
But why?
Just because they're Kentucky people?
But there's a lot of Kentucky people.
We had a lot of, like, Loretta Lynn.
I mean, there's a ton of Kentucky.
Why are the Judds?
And I get the whole wall.
What?
Why not me?
Okay.
Just slow down.
one more thing. I'm going to applaud that. I like that.
I want them to do more retired jerseys, and I want them to do the Y at every game that
traditionally marks out Travis Ford even during the exhibition game. There's a former player there. Do the
Y at the cheer every game. Well, they ought to plan it to where, if you're going to do the Y every
game, bring somebody in. Like, don't just look around and say who's here.
Plan it. You know, plan in a hotel, bring them up here. Like, it would be, and you don't just have to
have played for Kentucky, right? Bring out Tyler Childers. Right? Like,
Bring out random Kentucky.
I think I would really suggest to UK in the next year, do something for Oscar Combs.
Like let him be the Y.
That would mean so much to that guy and he deserves it and like things like that.
Amen.
That's a great idea.
Use that as a way to really kind of get the fan base, you know, locked in.

All right, so this is the one musical banner at Rupp Arena.
Apparently Fish sold out Madison Square Garden for 13 straight shows.
What?
That's why they hung a banner.
But, okay, so that's like, that's good.
But, so Taylor Swift shows, it sold 70,000 seats three nights in a row.
That's what, 220, $210,000.
I'm sure they'll put her name up in the rafters somewhere.
I mean, you're just going to put her name in the rafters of every arena?
Because she's done that everywhere she's been.
Like, does she just get to be in the banner everywhere?
Ruporina can hang a Taylor Swift man.
I mean, no.
Now, listen, if Fish sold 13 straight shows out at Rupp, I think she should put the banner up.
I don't know.
I just feel like that's a weird, weird one to do.
It is, and it just looks funny being one.
Like, I might put one for the Kentucky, what was it, Kentucky Rising concert?
Yeah, that was cool.
Maybe commemorate that night up there.
But I will say, I will, to what you said put a banner up every year for basketball.
I don't know if I want one every year, but we do need more.
Yeah.
I mean, we have not had one since Jamal Mashbren, right?
There's a lot of players.
Oh, wait a minute, is it Tony Dell.
Tony Dell.
I mean, I want you to think, Tony Delk is the last guy to have his jersey retired.
That was 20 years ago is when he played.
I mean, who's next?
I think Tashon Prince has got to be.
I think Tashon has got to be who you do.
next. I think you do Tayshan, but then if you do
Tayshan, you're going to have to do Bogans. Yes, I think
Bogan is awesome. I don't think you can do Tayshan and not
Bogans. But then that gets us to
what are you going to do about the Cow guys? Yeah.
I mean, the Cow guys are tough
because you could either do
I mean,
the problem with the Cow guys is
there are two that, to me,
stick out, which is
Davis and Wall. But
Oscar was national player of the
year. But it feels
weird that you would have Oscar, but
not have, you know, pick your star over the years, right?
Carl was number one pick.
Yeah, although Carl was not even the best player on that team.
So I think you can understandably leave him off.
But let's say you were going to rank putting the jerseys up in the rafters.
Anthony Davis goes first from the Calais, right?
Is Wall second?
I think so.
Yep.
Okay, so if Anthony Davis is first, and I'm not, by the way, this is not who I think was the best
player, just who you putting in the rafters considering the standards of what they use for the
rafters? Anthony Davis is won Wall second. Is Oscar third? I mean, I don't think anybody would
think Oscar was the third best player, but Oscar was the only one that won national player
of the year. If you have a national player of the year, I think they got to go up. I agree. That alone
puts you in the conversation to give your jersey. So you're putting Oscar up ahead of
Brandon Knight, Randall, Fox.
That's where it's so hard.
I mean, Malik Monk has like the third best season for scoring ever.
He does.
Is he on anyone's list?
No, but he has one of the best years ever in the history of the program.
I'm going to tell you another one.
Willie Colley Stein, National Defensive Player of the Year,
SEC Defensive Player of the Year, first team All-American.
You wouldn't ever think Willie, but you look at his accolades.
He deserves it.
And I mean, even though they didn't necessarily do it here,
Shea Alexander and Devin Booker one of these days, people are going to go,
how are they not up there?
Jamal Murray put up tons of points here.
I just think, I think UK, when they get to that era, it's going to be really hard.
Anthony Davis is going up.
Yeah.
Is that?
Do you agree with that?
He has to.
John Wall.
Has to.
Is he going up?
He has to.
So now, is Oscar going up?
I got one.
We're skipping.
Ulyss was SEC player of the year and defensive player.
But you can't put Ulyss up and not put the national player of the year.
I'm just adding Ulyss to the conversation.
I think he's third in line right now.
But does Oscar feel like the third best player in the Cal era?
No.
But I think he's going to have to be up there.
And I think you have to put Willie up there before you put ULis because you're right about what ULIS is.
But then Willie was first team.
He was in the player of the year conversation.
He was third or fourth.
If you just look at awards, that's difficult.
like Emmanuel quickly was player of the year
Kentucky doesn't have that many SEC player of the years
They really don't
They really don't
Should be up there but he won't
And if you look at points scored in a season
Antonio Reeves
Yeah Antonio Reeves has the third most points
Of the Cal era in the season
He's got last year was top 10
Single seasons all time too
Yeah I mean I think the best seasons are
Monk has the best cow when it's like third or fourth ever
Monk Murray Reeves, I think, are the top three.
He didn't play for Cal, but I think Jody Meeks is probably in the conversation.
By the way, I think Reeves would have been first if they had gone farther in the tournament.
Monk just ended up playing more games.
What'd you say?
I think Jody Meeks, he didn't play for Cal, but he's got to be in the conversation.
All right, so if all the guys not up there, can I give you my rankings of top five?
Yes.
Anthony Davis should be the next one up.
There's no way you can have that and not have Anthony Davis up there.
You know who my second one is going to be?
Mike Pratt?
Oh, it's a good call.
Mike Pratt needs to be up there.
Should have been up there a long time ago.
Should have been up there before he passed away.
Mike Pratt should be up there.
He's second for me.
Then I think third is John Wall.
Then after John Wall,
I think the next group has to be like Tashon and Bogan's.
Because of their,
but then it starts to, in my opinion, get really good.
Yeah.
I always thought, you know, you mentioned Mike Pratt.
I wish they would have retired Melvin Turpin before he passed away.
There's a couple guys, you know,
They didn't get to see that.
But I think we've got a pretty good list of guys that are next in line.
But had they changed the rule?
Well, they changed the rule, but all those guys should be eligible now.
You have to have been in the Hall of Fame for five years.
Okay.
They just added Pratt like a year ago.
We said Delke.
They did add Pratt.
They did add Pratt.
Yeah.
Okay.
I thought I had a memory of that.
I just Googled it up.
He's up there.
Okay.
Yeah.
So we've only had two people retired since 2002.
Yes.
That's why I want to bring it back.
We've got a lot of people deserve it.
We've only done two people since 2002.
See, that's ridiculous.
There should be more of those.
We'll take a break.
Come back.
Hour number two is KSR.

a cappella band with their between songs banter.
