All right. So we did fade this, and it's a very good episode. I actually went back and listened, which is something I don't usually do. I went back and listened last night as I was going to sleep, made me laugh. Everybody had funny lines. Even Billy Shannon had a funny line. Wow, really? Yeah.

I mean, isn't that surprising that Billy could make somebody laugh? He said something funny. He said something funny and not like making fun of him funny. Like, he actually. He does have a sense of humor. He's a fun one. As they would say, well, wonders never cease. But it was good.

and I re-listened to a conversation we had at the beginning that I wanted to bring up in front of you. Okay. Okay. So, you know, I spend a lot of time most days. You know, I'm a person that wants to be sort of educated about society, right? And also you have to read the news and stuff to prepare for this show. I try to find interesting little tidbits. Right.

But, you know, after the events of Tuesday, I said to Drew, I need, I just need a little. time off from that world. Right? Like, I'm still interested in the goofy world. You know, people like Brianna chicken fry. Like, people like that. Like, because that world is still, you know, that can be interesting.

But the political world, I just got to take like a year off. I can't, I don't want it for a year just get upset. Right. R.FK saying, you know, take the fluoride out of school. Like, I just, I can't do that. Like, you know what I mean? Like, life's too short, right? Amen.

Life's too short. Yes. And I am cursed without. actually caring about things. It would be so much easier if I didn't care, right? I could just be like, you know what? I'm doing good. This is your life, basically, right? And I'm not saying this as a criticism. You don't, like, you're just like, my life's good, everything's fine. Everything's fine. I don't care. Yeah, and that's a great quality, but I don't know that I can do that. So I think I'm just going to have to take like a year off from the news. Okay. I don't know if I'll,

but that's what my goal is. But then it occurred to me, there's a gap of time that I would spend, you know, reading X or Y, then I got to fill with something. Does that make sense? Yeah. So what you're going to fill it with? Well, that's what we're talking about. I felt like maybe I need to get a hobby of some sort. Okay.

You know, my hobbies before have been, you know, I like to read, I like to hang out with friends. I'll keep doing that. But I feel like there's still going to be a gap of time that I need to have a hobby. So we were just, huh? Pickle ball. No. First of all, by principle, no. I'll play you.

Secondly, I'm still trying to get over this wrist thing. And so, like, I can't play pickleball right now. So we were talking yesterday about what it was going to be. And, you know, people always talk about having hobbies. But, Ryan, there aren't that many hobbies, right? Like, there's just, like, what are they? What do you do? Billy said gardening.

I can't imagine a worse thing to do. Like, to go out and try to plant a flower. You don't have a green thumb? No, I just, what? Those plants would be dead in a week. You know, I've told you the story about how Larry, one time, started growing up. throwing tomatoes in his wheelbarrow. And it took like six months.

And he ended up with three tomatoes. And he was so happy. And I thought, how patient do you have to be to spend six months moving a wheelbarrow around so it's in the sun? The fruit of your labor. To get, it was the fruit of his labor, but it was three of them. And like, that's a patience level I don't have. So then it was suggested, Ryan, that I maybe should learn to cook.

It's a great idea. Something we all should take a part of. I am for this idea. Yeah. I feel like that's something I could get behind. Yes. You know, putting some oil. There you go.

It's a good start. Paprika. Oh, paprika. Here we go. Slow down. Get a spice tray. Okay. Right?

I can't see it. I can't see it. I feel like I can, but here's the problem. I don't even know the most basic thing about cooking. Yeah. Like literally anything. The only thing I've ever done is the George Foreman grill, and I've put rice in a paint. On the George.

Oh, I thought you're going to say you put rice on the George Forman grill. Grilled rice. Those are the only things I've ever done. So I said, I'd like to take a class. But is there a class or someone that could teach you from the begin? I'm sure there is somewhere. Well, I looked last night. Couldn't find any?

There are classes, but it's like they. saying all of them, we assume... You know what a cup is. We assume a basic level of cooking. Okay. So that now I'm stuck, Shannon. Nobody else would do this, right? Like if they were doing driving classes,

they wouldn't be like, well, we assume you can already drive a car. Right. This is how to drive really good. So what do I do? Cooking, I think, could be the one thing that would make me, like, not think about Elon Musk and all that. I could just do that. But how

How am I going to learn? Here's the thing. You love to read. So get cooking for dummies. That I started off in the very beginning. Here's what I know will happen, though. I'll be reading a book, and I'll be like, this is boring. I want to read something I like.

I do know me. I need to go somewhere, stand with someone, and do it. Yeah. I think cooking is definitely a hands-on thing. You want somebody to kind of guide you. But Billy was like, well, I went to a specialized pasta cooking class. But I would walk in there and go, where do you? do we get pasta?

Well, they would probably maybe start from the beginning with you. Do they start from the beginning, though, or do they already assume you know how to make pasta? I think there's probably, like you said, some skills, they probably assume you already know how. Okay, I don't have those. Yeah. So what do I do? Like, how low are, like, boiling water? Do you even know how to do that?

Blowing water? Boiling water. Do we know even how to? But I, I think I could boil water. How many things are on your lazy, Susan? I don't know what a lazy. Oh, my. Oh, boy.

It's your spinning, like a shelf. Like a turn style type of. I'm not making it. Let me say, I do have. My mom bought me all the cooking equipment. Yeah. So for like Christmas, that was my gift as I got. So I have, I think, I don't know if I have a wandering Susan, but I do have like all the stuff.

Okay, I'm going to ask you that. I'm not making fun. Yes, you are. I promise you I'm not. Go ahead. It's fine. I make fun of you. If I ask you to make me some toast, could you make toast?

I mean, yes. Shut up, Mario. Nobody asked you to laugh. We're just trying to learn our ground floor. My hell's over there laughing like he knows how to cook. Yes. What's the most, like, impressive thing you can make right now? Let's gauge your level.

What if you can do toast? There's one thing. Okay, so, yes, but that's not. Can you do anything better than toast? I can do toast. Could you make a grilled cheese sandwich? Probably not. You're halfway there, though, if you make the toast.

No, you don't you put. put it on the frying pan? Yeah, you just put it, get your toast, put the cheese in the middle. So here's the thing. Like, I know this sounds, I understand how dumb this sounds, okay? I'm not, I get it. Let's take a grilled cheese sandwich. I know you put it in something so that it'll, like, not stick.

Yeah. But I don't know what to get. Do you, what kind of oil do you get? You just got you get a can of spray butter. You can spray your pan with your butter. See, I don't know what that is. Pam. We'll introduce you fast.

So you use spray butter. Uh-huh. Yeah. Okay. So see, someone would need to tell me about that. Yeah. And show me how to do it. I think once you should do it one time, then you're going to know now forever.

Okay. But who is going to be the person that does that? Now, my mom just texted me and raised her hand. And I love you, mom. But I don't think that's the way. She'll get frustrated at me. Right? Yeah.

And I'll probably get frustrated at her. And I don't think that's, I think she's good to then teach her. me once I know stuff how to like make the things she makes out. Oh yeah. That would be when to use her, but just for the basis. Yes. So let's say love of your life, Bailey from the concert, says, I want you to cook me a meal on Valentine's. I couldn't do it. You couldn't, would you just have it? Couldn't do it. But I'd like to be able to do that. I'd like to be able to, you know, my friends are all the age that they have kids and they, you know, so when I go see them at their house, it's always a circus.

You know? Oh, yeah. Like everybody, it's always a circus. There's people. And I think it would be nice if I could go and say, I'll cook you all a meal. That would be awesome. But now I just go bring them KS. Bar food. And I think they're appreciative, but it's not, like, it's not as much of a, you know. I'm glad you're kind of taking this initiative that you do

want to learn how to cook a little bit. So you can kind of take care of yourself. I can take care of myself, okay? You act like I'm out on the street wandering around. Like, there are restaurants, and now they deliver things to your house. So I can take care of myself. The only time I feel it is like Christmas night if I'm back from my parents. And like nothing's open.

It's your business. Yeah. Those are the nights. Or, to be quite frank with you, when COVID started. Yes. Those first few days after COVID, I literally was like, am I going to start? What am I going to do? This is going to be kind of fun to watch you evolve.

But there has to be somewhere you can learn this. So if there is somewhere in Lexington or someone who I will pay you American dollars to use a Drew Franklin. You know, Matthew Mitchell's wife, Jenna used to do some teaching class, cooking classes. That's right, the coaches show they would cook every morning. I don't really want to go to a UK coach's show and learn how to. It can be a fun video of Mario. We can teach you the basics. Mario could come. I'm glad to be the butt of everybody's joke. Look, I get that there are things I can't do. There are things that I know better than most people. But I also, I mean, I don't know how to hunt. I don't know how to fish. I really don't know how to do any of the skills that if the purge were to happen.

You'd be one of the first ones to go. Oh, no, no. It's like when I see people and they're like buying food to put in their like bunker. Yeah. My view is, if that happens, I'm out. I'm out already. I'm the first one, Drew, gone, right? Nothing's in your bunker? I have no marketable skills at all. You know, if it really was a purge, I just, it was not, I had a good run.

When the apocalypse comes, we'll have you ready to at least make your girls cheese. Oh, listen, when the apocalypse comes, if they don't need a radio host, I'm out. But I think eventually when there's a Mrs. Jones, you're going to romance her and you want to cook her dinner. Okay, but that's another thing. If I get married, I don't want to be like, all right, you got to cook everything. Yeah. I don't know how to do it. I'd like to be able to contribute.

That's correct. Yeah. You know. So I applaud you for wanting to do this. I like that you're trying to better yourself. But you still haven't told me what to do. You should start with the grill. It's hard to screw up grilling.

It really is. Well, I don't have a grill. Well, we can get you one. Like you're talking about an outside grill? Yeah, yeah. Like burgers. Shouldn't I know how to use it before I go buy it? You just turn it on, man.

You turn on a propane tank and click on a couple of buttons and you're good. I don't have any propane tanks. He's going to be calling me. Shannon, where do I get propane days? Exactly. Shannon, if you don't find me someone to teach you, you're going to get all these phone calls anyway. Yeah, I know. So, all right.

You need like a private chef who's going to teach you their trade. I do, and I would actually do that. And somebody's got a lot of patience. One person goes, Mario should film you learning in a home economics class in a local high school. No, no. I suggested six-grade homic yesterday. I'm not going to like Dunbar and going, okay, do they even do home-ac anymore? That's not a thing they do.

Do it? Not that I'm aware of. Do they do shop? No. They did that when I was in high school. Yeah, industrial arts shop and then home act. Now the city schools don't. Do the rural schools still do it?

They do shop. I mean, I know there are like technical things people teach in high school where you go learn trades and stuff, which I actually think is a really productive thing. But they literally have like a wood carving thing in schools where you can go shop. Okay. I thought they stopped doing that. That's where everybody went to smoke cigarettes when I was in high school. Oh, they smoked all over my high school. The whole school was a small.

smoking zone when I was in high school. With the teachers. Oh, the teachers smoked with the cigarettes. They actually bought it for. And they all hung out. Can I bum a smoke? Do you have a fire extinguisher? I do know I have a fire alarm.

Don't know if I have an extinguisher. We'll start there. We'll get you one of those. Just in case. I don't use my fire extinguisher in the last month. Had a grease fire on my grill. Yeah. You used your fire extingu, like all the white stuff?

Yeah. So your house almost burned down again? Well, it was just the almost. my grill. That's true. That's a lot of fire problems you had. Yeah. Yeah. We know you can't throw water on a grease fire. So I went in and got my... See, I wouldn't have known that. Yeah. It makes it worse? Yeah. Okay. Can you close the lid? I did. It was coming out the side. Oh, is that bad? Yeah. All right. All right. Is your house like completely fixed from the last time? I think so. Yeah. I think we're okay. You think so or do you know so? I think it's 99% good. Okay. All right. So get

that one percent. Uh, all right. So Mark's, he does the coaches show last night. And I thought he had two things that were interesting. Number one, he said that he would like to see Cutter Bowley play more, which I thought was interesting, but also there was a part of me that said, Drew, aren't you the one that decides whether or not he plays? I remember Cal used to do that too. He'd be like, man, I really want to see more of Jordan Birx.

And I'm like, I feel like that's on you. Like you're the one that gets to decide that. with him that always got me is like man we should really play chris livingston at the four and then like we'd never do it but he would say it weekly why you go ahead and do it nothing stopping you so it does sound like though when they play murray in a week and a half we may get to see cutter bowling yeah they've been uh alluding to that a little bit i think even bush hamden might have said something post game i think we're going to get the bowling experience against murray sounds like brocks brock might be out yeah stoop's wouldn't really comment on it but it didn't doesn't sound like we're going to see him for a

Somebody sent me a list, by the way, of all the quarterbacks that have started a game during the Stoops era. And it's a lot of names that you wouldn't think about. Like, just take a guess. Can you name, I don't have all of them in front of me, so I'm made, can you name the quarterbacks that have started a game in the March? Started a game. Not just played, started a game. Well, let's go backwards. Brock Van degrift.

Okay. Devin Leary. Okay. Will Levis. All right. But there were others. In that even in those years. Sawyer Smith.

All Sawyer Smith. But who else started? Kai Sharon started again. Yeah, he did. Who else? Lynn Bowden. Good call. Nice.

Okay. Who was the dude that started against Austin P? See, this is the one you're not going to get. This is the one you're not going to get. This is the one that's really hard. Wait. Shannon, do you remember the thing? the guy that started against Austin.

Luke Wright. Exactly right. Luke Wright started a game against Austin. How about a little Jalen Whitlow? Jalen Whitlow started a lot of games, started almost an entire season. He actually was the offensive for a while. Yes. So with all of that said, I think, now this is not like, you know,

people know we have in the past had interactions and conversations with the Cutter Bowley family. I want to be clear, this is not from them, okay? because I'm not putting that on them. But I've heard people say they're a little concerned about Cutter deciding to stay. And when I heard this news, I thought this is like they've got to find a way to make sure Cutter Bowley stays in the program. You got to win that game Saturday. And I don't want to start with the Luke Wright experience where they started him,

then they had to bring Stephen Johnson in to save the game. I mean, we're down 10-0 against the worst team in Division 2. I mean, they had to bring. They were resting a lot. And then we ended up having to bring them back. But I do think they, so you think they would start Gavin and then go to Cutter bowling? That's what, start Gavin, get a good lead, get the game into control, and then maybe let Cutter play hopefully maybe the whole second half.

Yeah, I'm hoping to see a lot of Cutter just so you know what you have. You know, I mean, if he plays well and you feel good about him sticking around, you know what you have. If it doesn't look good, you know you might have to shop around. Without having Brock, I mean, I'm sure Wimsitt will play a lot, but I'm more excited to see what you have a cutter. I mean, they put him in a bad spot in Gainesville, having not warmed up. Yes, they have.

That was pretty unfair to him. And you didn't want to try them in Knoxville in an atmosphere like that. But at home against Murray, I think it's a good time to see what you have. He then later said, and I thought this was very reflective by him, he said, since NIL has started, I have not done a very good job. Wow. He basically said that. He said, since NIL have started, he doesn't think he's done a good enough job.

Maybe he didn't say very good job. He said good enough job. But there was definitely a moment of self-reflection of in the NIL era, this hasn't been as good as it should be. I found that an interesting thing to kind of admit on the show. What about you? I think he's done a great job getting these people to invest in Kentucky football. But I think he means on the field.

Like he's basically, I mean, and let's be real. They've been seven and six, six and seven, seven and six, and we're going to be four and eight this year probably, maybe five and nine, maybe five and seven. Yeah, I didn't take it as much as getting the money as it is internally. Maybe coaching guys that are now getting money. He's having a hard time just grasping back. Yeah, no, he wasn't saying I didn't do enough to get the money.

He was clearly talking about coaching. Yeah. I find that interesting. Coaches don't do that. I mean, most coaches tendency is to be, I mean, they don't go as far as Mike Gundy going, you people don't have jobs that are criticizing me. But it's, you don't see.

coaches sort of self-reflect like that. And I tend to think people do that kind of when they're at the end, right? They sort of self-reflect and say, okay, why is this happening? And you made like a 10-minute video of just teaching me the basics of cooking. Would you do that? Of course I'd do it. That would be kind of. I mean, it's very, yes. That would be good. You just do a video where you give me like the basics of what I would need to go to a cooking class. You would do that?

I looked at box score. He did start, but his number, were very less than impressive. And I don't quite understand why that would be a shock if he did not,

because I thought he was probably the biggest disappointment of the year last year. Well, he was. I thought he was too. But there's a difference between being a disappointment at Kentucky and a disappointment in Ohio State. And I just assumed when he got to Ohio State, he would find his, you know, his sort of find his level. You know, I mean, I appreciate the call.

I watched that game last night. You know, there were a lot of periods. I mean, DJ Wagner played most of them. it but there was parts where Thierro and Z were out. I guess that just with Bradshaw especially. I mean remember that was a dude. Was he ranked in high school? Oh, he's top 10. He was top 10. I just assumed he would go there so he could get more shots and and I thought he didn't start. Maybe he did, but he didn't, he certainly didn't do a lot. That's the first game and we'll play him in New York and maybe he'll go off on us. We'll see. That's like I was going to say,

I kind of felt bad for him last year. A lot of people were trying to say
