Friday, November 8th, I am Matt Jones here at the Corman Marketplace,
a Christmas shop year-round that half of the time is kitchen and bath,
and half of the time is Christmas, and today is one of the Christmas times.
it is absolutely, if you're a Christmas person, like Max Duffy, Max Duffy loves Christmas lights.
He loves it more than any.
I don't know why.
In Australia, I guess it's because the things are upside down there, down there.
He would love in here.
The Christmas, it is the Christmas store in Lexington.

over there, man. You feel good the minute you walk
into that store over there. I was worried, because
there's a lot of expensive stuff in here. And I just wanted
to make sure, like, when we're talking about the
kitchen appliances,
is it only the Christmas
stuff? Just the Christmas stuff.
All right, so just the Christmas stuff.
They're going to, like, read. I saw everybody worrying
over there. I knew something was wrong. Only
the Christmas stuff, but it's 25%

they were ahead at halftime but they won an overtime yep they wanted overtime so come on we're
We're going to, you got to crush them if they tie Southern Indiana in overtime.
And then later in the weekend, you got the jelly roll concert tonight.
Kentucky women's volleyball comes back to Lexington to celebrate their SEC.
Have they won it yet?
We'll say they've won it.
The SEC time, they're going to win it.
They play at Texas, or play Texas A&M tonight in Lexington.
Big weekend here, Drew Franklin.
Yeah, very exciting times.
I didn't get to see any of Bucknell, but I did my homework on them.
They have a 7-foot Latvian center.
That's going to be our, that's who we're watching.
That's our problem.
He's all Patriot League.
He's averaging 26 points and 11 rebounds through two games.
26 points.
Yeah, if there's anyone that's going to cause Kentucky fits,
we've got to look out for the Latvian center.
Be careful for those Latvian centers.
They do good work.
So that's, but it'll be a good test for our bigs.
Amari Williams and Brandon Garrison have looked like pretty good defensive players.
Now you've got to play against a guy who actually has some scoring talent.
Shannon, are you excited?
for a little Kentucky but now.
I am.
I do, though, I want to point out that we are in a kitchen right now where you're going to
be spending a lot of time.
We talked about yesterday.
It's true.
Do you know that's a stove over there?
I do know that's a stove.
You want to turn that on?
I got it.
This is one of these days.
My kitchen will look like this.
I can't say the kitchen I'm in right now.
It looks exactly like this.
But it will one day and I'm going to be mastering it.
First of all, a lot of people, Ryan, contact me about the cooking.
Thank you all.
Like probably 50 of you all.
invited to have me come to your house and learn to cook. That was very nice.
I'm looking for somebody to pay that, like has done this before.
I've got a couple leads, and we'll see if we can find one, but I'm committed to this.
Now, all night last night, my friends were reaching out to me saying, you're not going to do that.
That's ridiculous. Why do you say that? You're not going to learn to cook.
You don't ever do any of these things you say. And they're not wrong, okay?
They're not wrong.
The haters said I couldn't do it.
The haters said I couldn't do it, and they at least had a pretty good idea of that.
You know, I tried to run a marathon once, got hurt on day four.
I tried to learn French with Drew, bought all the stuff after about day five was bored.
So I understand that, like, it's not going to be easy, but Ryan, I'm going to learn to cook.
I got like.
I bought a book.
You did buy a book?
I bought a book.
Somebody gave me a book that was like, this dude.
acts like you're the dumbest person in the world,
and over the course of,
now it's a little long,
900 pages,
over the course of,
over the course of 900 pages,
you learn everything you need to know
to open your own restaurant.
And I was like,
I got a heads up,
I already have a restaurant,
but I'm going to learn to actually how to cook.
After the show yesterday,
I wanted to,
maybe you should try to get Sarah or Dria
or one of your friends-wise.
They got things to do.
I can't come burden myself.
They got,
they know your-
It works at a bank, and then she also has kids, and your jury is a saleswoman, has a new baby.
I can't go over there.
But they know your temperament.
They know how to handle you.
I'm going to be good.
Here's the thing that we could put you on the friar at KS Bar and Grill.
Just go back there.
People keep saying that, but, like, I feel like I got to make food that passes my test before I start sending it out to the general public.
Well, we've already got the recipe.
Well, here's what I could do.
Maybe.
See what you think about this.
If we get to, I'm going to give myself some time.
Get to, like, April or May.
We'll have a night at KS Bar where I'm the chef.
Oh, wow.
Wow.
That'd be lined up out the door ready to touch.
I actually think people would be lined up, probably to mock me.
Or because we're on a wait.
But I think, what about that?
I think it's a great idea.
I could be the chef for one night.
So when the kitchen gets backed up, we're going to yell at you.
No, no, I can't control all that.
I'll just pick the menu and prepare some of it.
I think really we should be.
You don't think that's going to happen.
It ain't ever going to happen.
He doesn't believe in it.
It's not a chance.
That's fine.
You don't have to believe in me.
I don't believe in you and stuff.
I learned to believe in Shannon.
I didn't think he could walk 50 miles.
He did it.
And he did it.
I don't believe in the things you say most of the time.
I think you try hard.
I'm going to be on Shannon's side and not yours when this is over.
I think maybe we do our show at KS Bar.
Maybe we do a live you back in the kitchen one.
No.
We're not doing any of that.
Let me program the show.
I will have a night after the season's over where I cook and people can
come and have my, you know, my meal of the day, my special menu.
The bologna sandwiches and potato chips will be great that night.
They'll be awesome.
What's your realistic timeline here to when you think you'll have just a basic dish you're
able to do?
It's a very busy time right now.
Let's say just a grilled cheese.
How many months until you can make your grilled cheese?
October and November, but really specifically November is my most busiest time.
You got college football, you got college basketball.
I got the NFL.
This month they're traveling.
We're traveling to two places.
I leave for Chicago today.
And then I'm doing Thursday nights with coach.
So, like, this is a busy.
But things start to settle down a little bit in December after we get back from our trip.
My goal is to start after we get back from our trip to see.
And then by next year, the next calendar year, Thanksgiving dinner at your house.
January and February, you're actually not bad.
Now it gets busy in March.
Hopefully, if Mark Pope is good, it'll be busy in March.
But we'll see.
Speaking of our trip, you're going to be excited about it.
I'm ready.
So when I do these shows on ESPN Thursday nights with Coach, he does taped interviews before.
So I get these segments off, right, to kind of just hang out because he's talking to Aaron Murray or whoever.
He taped it earlier in the day.
So I think I figured out our itinerary last night for our trip to Seattle.
Okay.
Now, so I want people in these places.
I'm going to tell you where we're going to be so you can start planning.
Some of the things that people have said is that they don't like that we don't plan.
Here's going to be our plan.
Night one, so really for the people that listen on the radio, we're going to leave Sunday, December 1st.
The longest drive we're going to have is probably that Sunday, to be honest with you.
We're going to drive Sunday December 1st.
On that Monday show, we will do it in Iowa City, Iowa.
We've been to Iowa a lot.
We've actually never been to Iowa City before.
Yeah.
Right, like where the University of Iowa is.
That's number one.
So Monday show, Iowa City.
Tuesday's show, Burke, South Dakota.
Never even heard of Burke, South Dakota.
That's where my buddy has a ranch, but he has said that we'll do it somewhere
where if people wanted to come, they could.
Okay.
All right.
Wednesday, either Cheyenne or Laramie, Wyoming.
Laramiemee is where the University of Wyoming is.
Shyam, we've been to before.
Great story there.
So that would be Wednesday's show, would be in Shireen, LaLamee.
Thursday show would be in Salt Lake City, Utah.
We've never done a show in Salt Lake.
I've never been to Salt Lake.
And then Friday in Eugene, Oregon, where the University of Oregon is, then I can scratch off Oregon from my list.
And then Saturday, Kentucky doesn't play Gonzaga until 10 at night on Saturday.
So we have a long time to actually get to Seattle because they don't play right until 10 at night.
And you can answer this question.
People are already asking, well, we do some sort of pregame show out there.
So we will.
Every city I just mentioned, Iowa City, Burke, either Cheyenne or Laramie, depending on what we pick, Salt Lake City, Eugene, Oregon,
and then a pregame show in Seattle, we'll do a live show in every spot on the way.
So, yeah, you know, there will be a ton of UK fans there,
but there'll be a good UK fan contingent at the game, I think, on Saturday.
I would think, Drew, if you live on the West Coast,
North California, Oregon, Washington, or even in Idaho or Montana,
if you wanted to see Kentucky, this would be the time you would do it, right?
Yeah, I'm actually expecting a pretty good turnout,
considering it's on the other side of the country.
And we never play over there, right?
I've had a few friends that just live in that general direction that are making the trip to Seattle
because that's the easiest one they can do.
So I think that'll be, Shannon, you're always the one that hates driving the most.
Yes.
I looked at it.
Basically, if you can get to Burke, South Dakota, you're in pretty good shape.
The first two days of driving will be a lot, but then it kind of slows down three or four hours
of it.
I've never been to Salt Lake City, so that's what I'm really looking forward to.
Really, that's what you're looking forward to?
Why do you like Salt Lake City so much?
It's beautiful out there.
I don't know how it's going to be in the middle of winter.
Well, that also, going that way, keeps us from having to cross the pass.
Everybody keeps saying for us to be worried about Montana that would be snowed in.
Well, actually, so we won't go to Montana.
I hope you'll be all right with that, right?
I want to go to the Salt Lake and put my hand in it.
Can you promise me we do that?
Why don't you got to touch it?
That's what he does.
He touches everything.
So I just gave you a trip across the country.
Yeah.
In front of all states, many of which you've never been to, right?
Yeah, a lot of them.
And you're most excited about touching the salt lake.
Why?
Well, how did it get there?
It's in the middle of the country.
You're going to learn by touching it?
I just want to confirm that it is salt.
Oh, you want to confirm it?
Yes.
That's what it says.
Yes.
I've got to taste it.
So you think there's a chance they, like, built the whole city, named it, and it's false.
Fake.
I'm going to check it out myself.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, I bet I know who you voted for Saturday.
Tuesday.
But, no, but like, so you just, you're fascinated.
Have you been to Salt Lake?
No, I've never been to Salt Lake.
You and I have been there, right?
I don't think I've been to Utah, but I don't think I've been to Salt Lake.
Well, I guess I was with the Turkey Hunter when I went to Salt Lake.
I will say Salt Lake is beautiful.
One of the most beautiful cities in America.
It's like a city, but there's mountains surrounding it.
They're usually snow-capped, especially that time of year.
So you guys, if you've never been, you will really like it.
Can Mark Pope help us out around Utah?
Maybe he knows a good spot to do the show.
Well, I looked along the way because I was looking.
if there were games for us to go to.
Really the only one Utah State plays the night will be in Utah,
and that's not far from Salt Lake City,
so we could go to that if you wanted to.
Kentucky played in Salt Lake in 97,
and that's when Mark Pope was on our staff at Channel 18.
He was out there as part of our staff,
but I was the guy that had to stay back at the station.
Oh, they didn't let you go?
I didn't get to go.
He went with Cutler and the rest of the crew.
Okay.
Well, you just kept talking about I want to touch the lake?
I just want to touch the lake.
And I got his flight.
We're getting his flights back.
Nice.
So we'll take it.
We'll just leave.
our car there. Good luck.
Just dump it. We'll just set her down and then get on a flight back and we'll fly back Monday.
We'll do the show Monday morning in Seattle and then fly back Monday after.
Sounds like a plan to me.
Well, good. I'm glad. I think it'll be fun.
Now, Kentucky and Bucknell, I don't think we could have asked Drew for Kentucky to do anything
better than what they've done in the three times we've seen him play.
Do you expect that to continue Saturday?
I do. Bucknell has a lot of experience.
So, I mean, maybe they could put up a little bit of a fight, but I'm expecting another high-scoring game,
just like we've seen in the first one in the two exhibitions.
Maybe not crossing 100, but it wouldn't shock me with the way they've been playing.
I'm interested to see last game with Robinson having eight points.
I think every night's going to be somebody different.
I'm looking forward to seeing who steps up.
Might be his time to have a big night.
Kirkreece has still been a little quiet.
He's got a breakout performance coming.
I'm just looking forward to seeing who's the one doing all the scoring.
I was watching Bucknell, and as I watched their offense, I thought,
this is the kind of team that if we played against a Cal team in Lexington,
it would be like a five-point game with five minutes to go.
Like because they play slow, back-door cut, you know, try to put you to sleep
and then get like, I think those are things, I mean, to some extent in the first game,
Wright State did some of that.
They played a lot slower than people kind of thought they would play.
I think Mark Pope's teams are probably very suited for teams like this.
You know, in the Wright State game, we thought that it was going to be a high-scoring game
because Wright State wanted to play the way that Kentucky played up and down,
shoot a lot of threes.
Tom Leach actually said this morning that he thinks this bucknell team
we'll try to push the pace a little bit.
Well, they didn't last night.
I mean, maybe they will.
Maybe I think that would be.
I think it's going to be a mistake, Drew, for pretty much anybody in the country to run with us except maybe Alabama.
I mean, Alabama can do it.
But, I mean, Arkansas might want to do it because of the way Cal plays.
But most of these teams, if you try to push the pace with us, especially if you're not talented, we're going to crush you.
Yeah, I hope a lot of teams would, though.
I think Kentucky's depth and having just about two guys you can trust in every spot,
really scared teams from doing that, too.
It's not the platoon of back in the day.
But I mean, there's still a lot of depth where Kentucky can play hard.

Tomorrow they're going to have Elizabeth Munger here who wrote Shannon A Glowheart's Christmas Tale.
She's signing her book, here's what it's about, a story of a crew of Nomes who decorates Santa's Village,
and take care of his reindeer.
That's my kind of reading right there.
Probably not 900 pages.
I feel like she probably gets to the point.
I bought the book without looking that it was 900 pages.
900 pages is a lot.
But I mean, if I feel like to cook, it's going to be a lot.
Yeah.
Can you speed read?
I see these people.
Oh, I read really fast.
I mean, I probably read two books a week.
Like, I read a lot.
But 900 pages of cooking is a different kind of thing.
I've read two books in the last five years.
That's what I was thinking.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, there you go.
A scholar.
All right.
One person, let me, there's a person agree with you here, Ryan.
Matt, I love you, but you're not going to learn to cook.
You don't finish anything.
You didn't finish the counties.
You don't finish brackets.
You didn't, you didn't do a 24-hour show.
You didn't, uh, Billy didn't race Ryan Timmins.
Okay, you don't have to list all of these.
Oh, I like this one.
Jeff says, don't forget when you said you were going to play Red Dead Redemption.
And that did not go well.
I bought a PlayStation to play Red Dead Red Dead Redemption, bought the game.
That was during COVID.
Remember I was going to play in New York when I was staying with my then girlfriend?
I just realized, like last week, not only did I stop playing after a day because I couldn't get on the horse.
It's a big part of the game.
It was way too hard.
The horse kept walking around in circle like I couldn't.
I couldn't get to it.
I also just abandoned the PlayStation.
Wow.
The PlayStation has been now at my ex-girlfriend's house in New York.
I was talking to her the other day, and I said, for the first time, a long time,
and I said, is my PlayStation's still there?
And she's like, yeah, my little brother uses it all the time.
So I guess I just left it there.
I love you, and we think the world of you, but it ain't happening.
Yeah.
Oh, it's happening.
It ain't happening.
I'll give you a little scuttle butt before we go to the phone.
Okay.
Not only do I think Cutter Bowley is playing against Murray State,
I think he's starting.
Really?
And I think he's probably playing, I think the plan is to have him play the whole game.
Wow.
That's just me and you talking.
I'm not saying, you know, I've been wrong before.
They also might, you know, they might change their minds too.
But I would think I've heard through the grapevine from, now these are, these are from non-UK sources.
This is from out and about, but I've heard through the grapevine that Cutter is taking the snaps as if he would be the starter next week against Mary State.
There's a couple.
Barack is hurt, and apparently Gavin is a little hurt too.
And Murray State is awful.
I mean, I don't say it's to be rude, but they were two and nine last year, and they're worse this year.
And they're losing games by, like, big margins.
I don't think they've won a game all year.
So this is like when we play Austin P a few years back.
Remember we got down 10-0 in that game and they beat them by, but, like, I think, Ryan, you're looking at a game like that.
You know, it's not like the old days where if you play a game, you lose your redshirt.
You know, he could still play and still keep his redshirt.
red shirt, you know, and I think, you know, they want to keep him happy.
They'd like to keep him here.
You know, if you don't play him, maybe he might look to go somewhere after the season's over.
Does that make you more excited, less excited?
What do you think about a game if you're actually going to see what could be Kentucky's
quarterback in the future playing?
I think the plan would be to play him all of it.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
In old pictures they put out from practice, he's been with the ones.
They've been hitting at it a little bit.
I think it's a great decision to see what you have there.
One, it's good to keep him happy, get him some reps as a true freshman, but also you can
see him and say, all right, is this our future?
How hard do we need to make sure we retain him and just get a little taste of what's ahead
for bowling?
By the way, I don't think it's them giving up on Gap.
I think Brock is more hurt.
I mean, I don't know about Brock the last two games.
I haven't really heard one way or the other, but Brock was more hurt than I think people
let on.
And then Gavin, I think he's a little banged up and they're like, look.
I think Gavin will play the role Stephen Johnson against Appalachian State where he stands
on the sideline hoping they don't need him, but if he does, he'll go in there and go.
So, you know, we don't have that extra.
He just talked right over.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I got a great thought in my head.
I got to get it out.
Let me judge that.
I got to just, it's got to come out.
I'm going to lose it.
We don't have that extra month of practice in December where a lot of times that's where
Cutter would get a lot of reps.
So now at least they got to throw him in game action to get those reps that he were missing
in December with no bowl game.
That actually was a really good.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
That's a point of the day.
I slept in a holiday and express last night.
I was going to say.
Yeah, that was actually a good point.
I was skeptical if it was an interruption-worthy point, but I think it was.
Who's first, Rick?
David is up first.
David, go ahead, David.
Hey, Matt.
Hey, David.
How are you?
I'm doing fine.
I'm so, I wanted to call since the right-s-game, but I couldn't get there, but now I can call about the people, what my thoughts are.
Okay, well, give me your thoughts quickly, David.
What did you like most about the game?
Well, I love how we share the ball and play defense,
and I especially love the three, the way we shoot the threes.
Yeah, we didn't even necessarily shoot.
Well, we ended up shooting a pretty high percentage,
but we only shot 24 of them.
David, it's good to hear from you.
You enjoy the game this weekend.
Let me know when you're going to come by the restaurant, okay?
Okay, hopefully before you guys leave for your trip.
That would be great.
Thank you, David.
I expected them to shoot the threes like they did,
but Drew, seeing them share the basketball,
and then the big surprise for me earlier in the season has been the defense.
I mean, I knew you can read on paper that they have three all-defensive players
for their conferences, but then when you see it, you really see.
This is a rare combination of a team that's going to be able to shoot,
but also can defend.
Yeah, we knew about the shooting coming in.
I've been impressed by the collective defense,
but really O.A. and Butler together in the back.
court. They're great. That's a nasty combo that are going to give a lot of teams fits.
And offensively, of all the things to love that we've seen so far, making the extra
pass has been so impressed with me. They will turn down an open shot because a teammate has a
better open shot. And that's just pretty unique at this level. And they all seem to be doing
it. And as Pope talks about all the time, just making sure they get the best look.
Somebody can remind me, I can't, Shannon, I can't remember. Who was the person, the college
basketball guy that just like, oh, Mark Titus, Mark Titus of Barstool, just yesterday.
day said Kentucky's my sleeper final 14 he said I think they're going to be the most fun team to
watching college basketball for the exact reasons that drew just talked about sharing the ball
playing defense he was like I he go and he said I think if it was a team not called Kentucky
we would all say that but because it's Kentucky and it's such a different roster than what we're
used to people are hesitant to say Jay billis just came out with the ranking as well had him highly
he had him like what 12 or 13 something like yeah just the way that they team it play it's an
explosive offense, and I think we're going to see a lot of that same style that we saw from Kentucky
teams in the 90s with Patino with Mark Pope coaching.
You know, remember we asked how many guys would lead the team in scoring, and I think you said
seven and maybe Drew and I said six or whatever.
I mean, O'A already led game one.
I'm not sure if very many people would have had him leading the game.
No, he's been the big surprise to me so far of everybody.
That guy can do it all on both ends of the floor.
That's true.
We will take a break and come back here at Corbyn Marketplace, KSR.
Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at Corman Marketplace off Floyd.
All right.
Ron's here. Brian.
You threw a little Santa Claus that time.
It's just down a notch, right?
You got people here with you.
But I appreciate it.
They were talking about, we got a new dude in OVW.
Like, I know that's not everybody's thing.
But you should Google him.
His name's Khadim, Kadeeem.
He's the biggest human being I've ever seen.
And I'm not even kidding.
Like, this is not like wrestling promotion.
Like, you know how you see Dionne Walker and you're like, that's the biggest person ever?
Dionne Walker would be asking this dude how he got big.
I was just telling him.
He's the biggest person I've ever.
Where did we find him?
He tried out for the NFL, didn't make it.
But he's like seven feet tall.
He played the NFL?
He is a monster.
I'm not just saying.
He's the biggest dude.
He's like wrestling in Paris, Kentucky Saturday.
That's why we were talking about it.
Makes me want to see him just to, you know.
He really is an unbelievable.
To me, he's bigger than Big Show.
We had Big Show in the locker room with us.
He is bigger than this guy.
He's a huge person.
859-2-80-2-807 now I want to play something
Louisville plays Tennessee in the basketball tomorrow at noon
not the best time for a big basketball game on a big Saturday
but you know they're trying Louisville's had two or three years of being awful
they it's it's their time to shine it is their time you would feel like this
Louisville Tennessee tomorrow you would feel like would be like the Kentucky
moment with John Wall against North Carolina like hey we're back
it's back we're excited so
I already talked about how small the crowd was for the first Louisville game.
Okay, you know what?
Bad team, whatever.
This is Tennessee.
You know, Tennessee's not their rival, like Kentucky's Tennessee,
but it's still right there.
I think the state's still bordered, don't they?
As far as I know.
I think they still border.
Tennessee's good, right?
Been good for a number of years.
Top 15.
So I thought that place is going to be rocking.
That's what I thought.
Well, apparently they're worried it ain't going to be rocking.
in the post-game interview he basically begged the fans will you please come to the game i was
told this place was good fair enough then yesterday a booster bought 500 tickets to the game
500 tickets and he's giving them all away now first of all that's really nice of him to do so shout
out to that guy but 500 tickets to give away that's kind of like
Why do they need to do that?
But then, and let me say before I show this,
I think this is cool Pat Kelsey to do.
Everything I've seen of Pat Kelsey,
I'm sure I'll hate him down the road,
but he seems like a likable guy,
and I think he's trying his hardest.
But he, Pat Kelsey, decided he had to walk on campus,
and they filmed it, him asking students
if they'll come to the game.
We'll play it right here.
Hey, man.
Hey, you're going to the game?
I am going to.
You fired up about it?
Oh, yeah.
Your friends going?
Yeah.
All of them?
All my roommates.
How many roommates you got?
Big game Saturday at the Yom, 12 o'clock, Louisville, Tennessee.
You a Bengals fan?
Yeah.
Can I get a Who Day?
Who day?
Hey, big game Saturday at the Yom.
You got going?
Let's go.
Let's go.
Absolutely.
12 o'clock Saturday at the Young.
All right.
Good game Saturday.
Tennessee.
12 o'clock at the Young.
All right.
So, now give him credit.
You know, I've been there early in my KSR career.
Do you know the first advertising I ever did?
Kentucky played Georgian football in 2006.
It was a year we beat them, and it felt like the first time we'd had a big win ever.
Do you remember that?
And it was here in Crohn the field.
Kroger Field, something like that.
KSR just started.
They had a traffic jam right outside of the football stadium,
and I stood on Nicholsville Road with my friend Aaron Sutton and Turkey Hunter,
and we held signs up on the side of the road that said go to kentucky sports radio dot com i've never
heard that i've never heard that story stood up and like my friend aaron would knock on the glass and go
to this site go to this side so i i've hustled i respect it but isn't it kind of crazy
that for the tennessee game he's having to kind of go beg students to go right i do applaud the effort
I think it's a good effort on his part, but it is kind of crazy.
Louisville, one of the best college basketball programs of all time.
They have to go out and try to hustle their fan base to get them to come to a big game.
It does seem a little sad.
That's the difference between you guys who are a startup website.
This is Louisville, an established brand, and their head coach is having to go out and beg.
Do you think Rick Petino or Denny Krum ever had to go around?
Well, they would never lower, like, Rick and Cal.
But they didn't have to.
I could see Mark Pope doing it.
You're right, but he doesn't have to.
At least I hope.
I hope we don't have a video of him doing this in January and February.
He would totally do it, though.
But he would do it.
This is not a criticism of Kelsey.
I actually think it's cool that he did that.
But I can't believe that game is not sold out now, okay?
If Kentucky was playing the equipment,
if Kentucky's playing North Carolina Saturday,
you think that game be sold out?
Yes.
You think people would, you'd have to beg people to go.
Yes.
Tennessee, Drew.
No, I mean.
I'm misunderstood a question.
I was in yes mode.
He said yes, man.
We already know this.
Yes.
Everything's yes.
I said to rhyme once.
I feel like sometimes you just zone out.
He was like, no, I don't.
Yes, I do.
Okay.
But like, there's no way we would ever have to do that.
And it is sad to me.
That Louisville program, well, I love talking trash about you.
And look, Louisville program, this isn't about, like, I'm not trying to make fun of you.
Where is the pride?
How are you not going out there for that?
How are you having to get a dude buy you 500 tickets?
Like they shouldn't even be for sale, Drew.
I know.
Kelsey did this for their equivalent of madness.
He went and begged them all to go, and they had a terrible crowd.
That's why I'm watching this.
Everyone he goes up to says, yeah, I'll be there.
They're liars.
They're all lying straight to his face because we've seen those crowds.
Well, the one dude did look at him and go later in the video.
I'm going camping.
But that's the thing, though.
If the head coach comes up to you and ask, hey, you're going to be there.
You're going to say yes.
But you don't think they go.
No, he had like a 95% yes rate.
The crowd will not show that.
There was a time Louisville was the third biggest attendance in America for a long, long time.
It would be Syracuse 1, because their bit Jim was bigger, Kentucky 2 and then Louisville 3.
And sometimes Kentucky would even be loyal.
Louisville was always 3.
I cannot believe with the new coach and a team run that might be good.
They might be good.
You have to beg people to go to the Tennessee game on a Saturday.
You think that after the Kenny Payne experience, they'd be excited.
They got a new coach.
They got a new team.
They got a new era about to begin.
Let's get on board, get behind this guy.
He broke the program.
He really did.
He really broke it in a way.
Like, I don't know how much.
It's kind of shocking how he did.
Who's next?
Got Debbie up next.
Debbie, go ahead, Debbie.
Hey, guys.
How are you?
Good.
All right.
I think it was a great idea that Mark Pope went to the official camp this summer that
You talked about a day or two ago, that clinic.
Yes.
Because my husband is a BBA high school official,
and he's always said that coaches and even players should be in the shoes of officials
to understand the game more.
So I thought that was a great thing that coach did.
I totally agree.
Like, you can sit, I'll use a political analogy.
Like, people like to complain about refs, but maybe don't try to understand.
them. When a party loses an election like mine, they like to sometimes complain about the voters
instead of trying to understand them. You're not going to win anybody over unless you understand them.
I feel like it's the same way, Drew, with or with officials. Like if we might as, they're going
going to be calling the game whether you scream or not. You might as well try to go and learn exactly
what they're trying to do. Yeah, and two things about it, one, it just shows that such an intelligent
person moved instead of just sit there and complain about something to go, well, I'm going to go learn.
I'm going to go see what they're thinking. Also, it's just so good for you.
for the relationship with the refs.
I would think so.
I'm sure that thing, he got to know a lot of them.
I assume they appreciated him being there to try to learn their end.
And in a close game, there's a close call, and they see Mark Pope,
they might make a little more favorable call for Kentucky.
Appreciate the call, ma'am.
Who's next?
Hall is up next.
Hall.
Go ahead, Ote.
Hey, guys.
First time, long time.
Who are?
Hey, a couple things.
First, a comment.
This is how much Kentucky basketball.
means to my family. My father had a stroke on Sunday, mild stroke. But he has been able to open his eyes
until Monday night when the game started. You can see a picture of him, watching the game on his phone.
It's the first time he saw a smile out of him. So that's how powerful Kentucky basketball.
So you're saying your father had a stroke and had not, like, been able to communicate,
and then he watched the game on Monday?
Correct. Like the communication was.
So, so, so. And I'll send a picture of it to you guys in the, I guess, the text message group that you guys have or whatever.
But, yeah, he watched the game on his phone. And it really made him smile and show a lot of joy.
He's shown a lot of improving since then. But, you know, Kentucky basketball's been strong on our family for a long, long, long time.
As far as I know, so.
Well, that's a great story. I appreciate the call. And I'll be praying for your father that he continues to get better.
Along those lines, I don't think she'd mind me saying it.
Pat, who's in the crowd here, wrote us an email.
By the way, this is her 100th, 100th and second remote.
What was it?
Yeah, that's a round of applause.
Yeah.
How about that?
But she said in the email, and I don't know you don't mind me,
I don't think you'd mind me saying this,
that like your interesting Kentucky basketball had kind of waned
a little bit in the last few years.
I don't think you're the only person that feels that way.
And you said that having Mark Pope has kind of gotten you back all in.
I think there's a lot of people like that, Drew.
I think there's a lot of people.
Now, again, it's a little bit of a honeymoon here.
He's going to have to win.
But I do think there's a sense, you know, we felt it on opening night at the ball, right?
Like there's a sense of kind of like, okay, people are kind of into this.
I mean, everybody's into it when you're winning, but I feel like we'd had a period where it just wasn't the same.
And I couldn't put my finger on it.
And I kind of blamed COVID.
And I think that was true for a little bit.
But I think it had just gotten stale, and this is like fresh food.
Yeah, I've been to everything you can go to so far.
The exhibitions, madness, first game.
And just in, like, the concourse of Rupp Arena or outside on the sidewalk,
there's just an excitement we haven't seen in a while.
I mean, you're playing right-state, and it feels like they're walking in the UNC game.
Just people on the sidewalk already cheering.
There's just so much more joy than we've seen in the last few years.
And it might be because it's new and calm down.
But for right now, these games have a lot more energy and enthusiasm earlier than they have in the last several years.
I saw on your rapid reaction.
Tom Hart just showed up.
Like, on your rapid reaction,
like anyone may show up at any moment.
We've got a good system where since we're live and there's a big light,
if we just put you on, you can't say no.
You're on.
You're on right now.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Now, you promise me, Rick, all songs today would be after the 90s.
Is this, 90s or later? Is this one satisfied?
Yes, this is Bon Jovi.
Huh.
You find a, he plays the Bon Jovi so that I don't even know.
90s Bon Jovi.
90s Bon Jovi, like Bed of Roses, Bon Jovi.
All right.
Well, 859-2802287.
We are here at Corman Marketplace where they sell Christmas trees, garlands, wreaths.
What's a swag?
It says swags.
I mean, I know what swag is, but what is it with Christmas?
Over the doorway.
Like, over the doorway.
That's called a swag.
I didn't.
I didn't know that.
No idea.
There you go.
I had no idea that upside down Christmas trees.
Well, now you're stealing my thunder here, Shannon.
Swags.
Ornaments, ribbons, and Christmas decor.
So they had out there, before Shannon so rudely said it,
I didn't know what you were going to say that.
They had out there a Christmas tree that is upside down.
Now, of course, we've talked about how upside down means something else,
at least in Norton Commons,
but upside down Christmas trees are apparently now a thing.
I had no idea that people apparently are hanging their Christmas trees
upside down. And the reason is
it gives you more
space under the tree for
gifts. Oh, that's what it means. Because
the... I thought it means this for swinging for
the holidays. No.
No. No. They said that if it
comes down into the one end of the
triangle, you have more
spot for gifts and it's becoming a thing
apparently, according to these folks.
Drew, I had never heard about that until
today. No, I'm a big Christmas guy.
I will be decorating soon at my house,
but today was my first time seeing it up
upside down on Christmas tree.
I didn't even consider about the floor space.
Makes a lot of sense.
It actually does make sense.
I thought it might be more like a dirty Santa thing.
No, I guess it's a new trend.
I'm just trying to figure out, do you put the star at the bottom or the top?
It's a good question.
Star at the bottom or the top?
Up to you?
Up to you.
You can do what you can do what you want there, Ryan.
Kind of an interesting take that you can do.
I had never heard of it either until today.
I'm just really glad my boys didn't know about it when they were growing up.
They want to go upside down for more presents.
That'd be what we did every year.
Well, why wouldn't you want to do it?
Maybe it kind of makes you unique, kind of cutting edge.
Yeah, more presents, more money, more men.
We don't have to fill up the presents.
Like, it's just a way you could.
You've been upside down some Christmas before.
Well, probably will be this Christmas, too.
The 859-2802287.
I'm going to be this weekend in Chicago at the Soldier Field next to Gate Zero
with Sunday morning, Matt Myron.
If you are in Chicago and would like to come stay high,
even if you're not going the game, you know, it's right there next to the big park.
Come say hello.
Looking forward to it, I'm going to be in Chicago all weekend, actually.
Monday even, I'm going to have to do the show from Chicago, but then be back the rest of the week.
We're excited for you.
You know, you got to do the show at Lambeau Field earlier.
Now you're going to get to do it at your place, Soldier Field.
So it's kind of a cool thing they're letting you and Myron do this,
actually go to the game.
It's a terrible game.
It's a terrible game.
It's a, they're playing the patient.
Patriots, which is, so that's good, but I still never been to them. I mean, 40, been a fan my whole life, 40 years, and I've never seen them play at Soldier Field. So I'm looking forward to it.
We're excited for you. I mean, just Soldier Field by itself is an iconic venue in football and you like them your whole life.
We'll surprise you haven't snuck up there before, but I'm glad you're finally getting to you.
It's just never, you know, with all the games and stuff. I've seen them in Cincinnati and Nashville and Carolina and I've just, the St. Louis, but I've never actually seen them in Chicago. So I'm looking forward to it.
Who's up next?
Doing good is up next.
Doing good.
How are you?
Hey, Matt.
Hope you guys are doing well.
Just a quick note, I tried that upside down Christmas tree last year, and we had to get rid of it,
made a mess on the floor and the tree dried out.
But from all the water and everything.
Oh, that's a good point.
The water thing, that's interesting.
I was listening yesterday, and you're actually, for part of my clients,
we do some personality profiles.
how their employees learn, best way to teach them new skill sets in the workplace, et cetera.
With your learning, based upon your profile, with the way that we've got you set up for the way that you learn best,
especially if it's something brand new for you, I don't think you need like a tour around the grocery store
and a million things thrown at you.
I got three words for it in order for you to accomplish what you want next spring.
Okay.
Burgers, brought some bacon.
Takes about burgers, brought some bacon.
It makes about 30 minutes.
But the problem is I want to cook, like, the goal of this is to get, like, eat a little
healthier, and burgers, brots, and bacon strikes me not as the thing to start with.
Well, it might not be all that healthy, but it will get you involved.
You'll be able to learn it very quickly.
I've actually won two contests with my burgers as a special.
Oh, humble brag.
There you go.
The others don't.
A humble brag, yeah, it was.
But within 30 minutes, I can show you how to start with all that to give you a good
foundation and then you can branch out the corn on the cob
green beans you know whatever the case i feel like i could do corn on the cog now don't you just
boiling the water okay stop i don't want to hear well first of all it yeah it was it
it was all boiling water and you weren't sure about that yesterday so it's it sounds like it's
good advice i actually cook the corn on the cob inside the microwave in the in the in the husk
when i don't have to do a well yeah that's how larry used to do it i appreciate the call you would
do it that way with listen every i'm just i'm just i
I'm going to do this journey.
I'm going to sometimes let Mario film it.
But for the most part, you're going to see me in May just like slicing and dicing like Gordon Ramsey.
We all are very hopeful for you, and we're proud of you for trying this experience.
It ain't going to happen.
You know what?
You better hope it happens because you're going to have to eat whatever I do anyway.
I will gladly eat it.
So who's up next?
Kyle is up next.
Kyle.
Go ahead, Kyle.
Kyle
Yes
Hey man

We're out of time
The 30 seconds back and forth
Of not getting it to work
I love all of you all
But just don't call us on Bluetooth
Just be dangerous for a few minutes.
Not my, well, don't be dangerous.
But nevertheless, just buckle up, put your phone down.
But whatever.
Just put it somewhere where I won't be on Bluetooth.

This morning, the internet lost its mind,
and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes.
I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories,
their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

You just understood. That's how personal it got.
