here off of Loudon in Lexington, so come
see him 859-280-2287.
Let's go over a few things. Let's go over a few things here,
Shannon. First of all, a couple open lines, give us a shout.
This, last night, there were two
absolutely great sporting events on TV.
We'll start with St. John's and Baylor.
Poor Rick Patino.
First of all, I found myself
rooting for Rick Petino.
Not just a little bit, a lot of bits.
I was watching the game and I was pulling for him.
St. John's was up 18 in the first half.
Baylor comes back, sends it to overtime.
St. John's was up five in overtime.
Baylor comes back, sends it to double overtime.
St. Johns was up five in double overtime with nine seconds to go.
No.
Nine seconds to go.
Baylor comes down the court, shoots a three.
Now it's a two-point game with four seconds.
go. They inbound the ball, or excuse me, uh, yes, they, they, they, no, something happened.
They ended up with free throws. St. John's fouls him. Baylor or St. John's misses two free
throws. Baylor comes down, hits a three at the buzzer after being down five with nine seconds
to go. They lose a heartbreaking loss. Heartbreaking loss for, uh, for Rick Petino.
Big mistake from Rick, by the way. They knew they were going to get fouled. He had the worst free throw
shooter on the team in the game and that's who they
imbounded it to and he misses two free throws
that's a tough way to lose but you know I mean that St. John's team
I think is going to be good that Baylor team
didn't they blow out or no Baylor team
got blown out of Gonzaga but then beat Arkansas
beat Arkansas I mean that's a good Baylor team regardless
and I think Rick's got a good team at St. Jones
Rick man I was sitting there I mean I was pulling for him
Ryan and they that has to be a heartbreaking
heartbreaking loss the way they lost that game.
What a collapse. You said they're up 18 in the halftime and up five in the first overtime?
Five with five with nine seconds to go up five.
Baylor, imbounding the ball with the full way of the court.
I don't know how they lost.
The ball will find you.
He had the worst free throw shooter out there.
The ball finds you a lot of times.
I don't know why he was in the game.
They called time out.
I don't even know why he was in the game, but they ended up losing.
The other thing I enjoyed last night, Shannon, the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers
He played in the snow.
Loved it.
I like watching guys.
I watch them play in the snow.
Tom Brady said that he thinks playing in the snow is the best for the offense.
Because he's like, people slip.
The offensive guy knows where he's going.
The defensive guy doesn't know where he's going.
So he actually said the offensive guy has a bigger advantage in the snow.
In the second half, that was a straight up blizzard.
You could barely even see the Pittsburgh Steelers players because of the white jerseys.
But, yeah, I mean, I was surprised at some of those passes they were able to
make in the snow like that.
If you had a team that was like based in a place where it snows, like Cleveland, Buffalo,
you know, Minnesota plays in a dome, Detroit plays in a dome.
Chicago Bears are considering playing in his own.
If I had a team that was in a snow area, I would want to not have a dome.
I think it would give you a big advantage.
Absolutely it would.
And to me watching that last night, I'm going, this is football, right?
This is what I grew up watching.
This is not a domed controlled climate.
You know, I love watching football like that.
I loved it.
Did you enjoy it?
I did.
It's hard not to be romantic about football when you have a game like that.
And then James Winston is preaching in the pre and post game.
He's one of my favorite players.
James Winston is a weird guy.
But he's, they were like, I don't know if you saw his interview before the game.
They were like, what do you think about the game?
And he was like, this is the day that the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
And then they were like, all right.
But man, what about the football game?
Like you're playing Pittsburgh tonight, but he does seem like a very happy dude.
And what you just said, what Tom Brady said, that's what happened last night.
First half, no snow, three to nothing.
Second half, both teams finally moved the football and scored points in the snow in the snowstorm.
It was absolutely awesome to watch.
Also, Tennessee blew Virginia out by like 20.
So Tennessee, Ryan, might actually be really good.
You know, they beat Louisville by 20.
They've now beat Virginia.
They'll play that Baylor team, I think, tonight in the finals of that thing.
But our vols may be pretty good.
Going into the season, I thought they're definitely one of the top two teams in the conference.
They're playing that way now with Ziegler.
Ziegler's been there for 25 years.
He runs the show for him down there.
Remember, there's a guy on Tennessee that we tried really hard to get here.
Chas Lanier, I think, from North Florida.
He actually hasn't been that good for him.
He was one of the guys.
Pope probably lost two guys he really wanted.
One was that Chas Lanier, well, three.
The kid at Yukon that came from St. Mary's, I don't remember his name.
He went to Yukon, Lanier went to Tennessee and then Great Osibor went to Washington.
But, you know, he ended up with a group.
He didn't get any of those three guys.
There were people who thought along with Jackson Robinson.
Those were the three best guys he went for.
But who he ended up with Shannon still ends up pretty good.
That being said, I mean, the job that Mark Pope has done to take a bunch of guys
who have never played together and to build this chemistry that we've seen early in the season,
I think it's remarkable.
It is.
I do think it's remarkable.
Now, Billy, as I said, is hosting the postgame show tonight.
You're also answering the phone.
It's tough.
We're doing it all.
So tell me how that works.
How are you going to talk and do the show?
And then while you're doing the show, answer the phone.
So if I'm talking and people are calling in, I can put you on hold without saying anything.
I can not say hello and put you on hold.
It's during the breaks.
I'll have to see who is on hold in their name so that I can actually be the best.
Now, are you going to be nice to these people?
Well, that depends.
Like some kids might sneak through the system.
We had like two kids calls Tuesday night, and they were both great.
The one day, can't remember the one kid, but he liked a scouting report on the team.
He did.
It was great.
I don't hate children that much.
But, you know, if they have a good point, then come on to the postgame show.
But, you know, I'm just hoping we do get calls.
It may be a 40-point blow to get calls.
It'll get cards.
It's a Friday night.
You'll get calls.
It'll be good.
So you're going to be on.
Did you say you were making Mario come?
No, no, I think I'm going to go solo here.
I was about to say, so when I said this to Billy, he goes, I'll make Mario come.
I look to him and go, I need you, Billy to remember, you're not Mario's paw.
Yeah.
Billy thinks because he's been here longer, he can, like, like, Billy is not in charge of Mario.
He thinks he's got, like, seniority or something around here.
Yeah, he thinks we all get to tell the person that's been here longer.
That's not how it works.
He's the only one I can pick on a little bit, so I've got to do that.
Yeah, all right, number zero on Jackson State.
He came off the bench. Hoover is his last name.
Wow. This is unbelievable.
He wore two bright yellow shoes, and he was the leading score of the game.
To me, he's the best player on the team, and he comes off the bench.
What year is he?
He's either a freshman or sophomore.
He's a freshman.
Yeah.
All right, if you know where he's from.
No, I don't know where he's from.
But when he comes in, he's shooting fallaway threes.
He's shooting contested threes.
He's shooting step-back threes.
The dude is going to crank it.
I think he's their best player, and he comes off the bench.
He is from Yazoo City, Mississippi.
There we go.
All right, Billy, number one.
Yeah, he's the other good freshman on the roster.
Number one and number zero combined for 34 points in one of their most recent games.
So he's going to be the point guard.
He's going to have a headband on.
Number one is a pretty talented guy.
What's number one's name?
McMillan.
Well done.
All right.
All right, so let me just go through here.
He wore one yellow shoe, one purple shoe.
I just want you to give me the last names.
Do you think you can do them all?
If they played, some of these guys didn't play.
Zero.
Hoover.
One for one.
One.
McMillan.
Two for two.
Two.
Didn't play.
Tatum.
Tatum.
Correct.
That's for you.
Three.
Mitchell.
Five.
Didn't play.
I don't know him.
Five.
Going once.
Didn't play.
Hunt.
Seven.
That's Grant.
Ten.
I don't know if he played.
I don't remember.
We just talked about him a minute ago.
Ebo.
Yeah, he's got.
zero's on the stat line. Okay.
12. That's Williams.
13. That's Mansley, the guy that looks like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo.
He does. He's got the fro and a big goatee.
You'll see him tonight. Do we want to count?
Would you say Mansley?
Mansell.
No, he changed it. Got it. He got it. You said Mansley.
Oh, I did Mansell. 14.
Cavosier, Kevin All.
It's not Cavosier. That was our football player.
It's like Cannaval, Carnival, Carnival.
Cannaville.
Cannaville.
Close enough.
I'm going to give it to you.
15.
Didn't play.
20.
That's the Juan Rainia.
Right.
Juan Rainia the third.
It is the third.
Wow.
Wow.
You got four more.
You're doing well.
21.
That's Watson, Jr.
The point guard.
It is a junior.
It is a junior.
He knows.
24.
Didn't play.
Oh, I know him.
Ruffin.
Ruffin.
Did he play?
No, he's the only McDonald's All-American to go to a swag school.
Why didn't he play?
He's a transfer from Old Miss.
He tore his ACL last year.
He has not played yet this year.
Oh, wow.
This is incredible.
30?
Didn't play.
And then 55.
Oh, he did play.
He's a center.
Uh-oh.
Here we go.
This is almost the last one.
You've done so well.
He played, too.
He's from.
Jackson, Mississippi.
And he's really bad.
He doesn't do anything.
He sets picks, tries to play defense.
Cawandric.
Samuel.
Samuel, he got it.
All right.
Dude, that's really good.
Shannon, I had very low expectations.
And Billy did well, too, but Ryan knocked it out.
Ryan understood the assignment, and he did not disappoint whatsoever.
I'm very proud of you.
I am very proud of you.
Well, laying there watching this game, I got madder and matter because this team is so bad that Matt was making me watch this game.
I said, I'm going to nail it.
I'm going to know every one of these guys.
Did a good job.
Here's what this proves, though, Shannon.
He could always do better than he does.
He could.
That's right.
Yeah, now that you know that you can do it for Jackson State, you can do it for every other.
Slow down.
All right.
Who's up next?
DW is up next.
DW, what's up?
Hey, what's up, fellas?
That was really impressive scouting.
So I was just wondering for the Arkansas game,
give me an over-under on former players that are going to show up.
And also, do you think Cal is going to get himself that worked up, he gets ejected?
That is a great question.
First of all, Cal will not get ejected.
He will not want, although if he got ejected,
that might be the greatest moment in Roperating history.
I mean, okay, let's just talk about that for a second.
I appreciate the call.
What would it be locked if he got ejected and had to make the walk back to the locker room?
The walk of shame.
The place would explode.
The place would lose its mind.
I mean, it's not that far-fetched.
I mean, in a road environment.
He used to always get injected at Arkansas.
Right.
So you can just flip it.
That's right.
I can see that happening.
You know, he's always on the officials constantly throughout the game.
That's a great point, though, about former players.
I bet there was.
will be, I bet there will be a lot of former players there.
Like, you know, the ones that are in the NBA, they may not be able to come.
But if you're a former Cal player, you're at that game.
And you want to support Cal, but you also want to support your alma mater.
Like, that's the game to come to.
Ryan, I bet we'll have a dozen at least former Cal players at that game.
Won't be shocked even like Boogie and John Wall, guys that have kind of retired from the NBA show up for that game.
that moment. I think it would be a rock star event. Maybe some older players. We know Travis Ford's going
to be there. He just hangs out and apparently at practice all the time. So there's another one.
Dude, that would be, that's a great point. That's going to be like a who's. I had somebody at ESPN
tell me that, that Van Pelt is trying to come to the game, just because he wants to be in that.
Yeah. There's going to, in my opinion, there will be very few sports atmospheres that will be like that
game will be that night. I mean, it really will. Because it's also at night. It's at 9 o'clock.
I expect that to be like the rowdyest ruff has been, maybe in a decade. Long time. Yeah,
I agree with you. Hey, Red State Barbecue is ready to talk turkey. Thanksgiving will be here soon.
12 to 14 pounds smoked or deep fried turkeys they will have at Red State. You got ham,
honey, bourbon, glaze, cornbread dressing, gravy sides. It's all there. Turkeys at Red State
BBQ.com.
That's turkeys at redstate
bbq.com.
We are here. I see that popcorn back
there. Oh, there she is.
Popcorn lady. I'm eating it during the break.
We'll take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano,
and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
and finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's first,
friends stop by like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash will get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the
ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that I said, you figure it out real
quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at the state renovation.
thanks to Ray Ann.
She's the one that has the popcorn.
She brought a bunch of us to a lot of different flavors.
Butter, toffee, cookies and cream, caramel, banana pudding.
Pumpkin spice.
Ooh, that's good.
It's really good.
She's now downstairs.
Thank you for bringing that, Rayan.
Good stuff here.
All right.
So one person writes, Matt, very impressive work by Ryan,
but I bet he can't do the same thing with the Kentucky roster.
All right, let's just see.
Can you get all the numbers correct on the?
the Kentucky Rust. Okay, let's try it. Zero. Otega O'A. One. Let's come back to that.
All right, we'll come back. No, well, I mean, you're going to know who's left, but we'll
still let you. Two. Jackson Robinson. Four. Kobe Brea. Five. You're not going to get that one.
I don't know that one. Seven.
Andrew Carr. Nine. Trent Noah. Ten. So it is clear.
Shannon. He knows the Jackson State roster better than he knows the Kentucky Rock.
Oh, Brandon Garrison.
Brandon Garrison. All right, I'm going to give you a chance to finish.
11. Travis Perry.
13.
Oh, doing so well.
13.
I'll come back.
15.
Anzley Almanor.
22.
Skip that one.
77.
That's easy.
Curricer.
All right.
So you have left 1.5 and 22 of the people who,
play.
22 is Amari Williams.
One.
One.
One and five.
One of them is one.
You could get a perfect score if you can remember who is number one and who is number five.
You got two players left.
I'm not going to make you guess Walker Horn and Grant Darby Shire.
One and five.
Which is which?
One is Lamont Butler.
And who is five?
Five.
There's one player left.
Wayne Turner.
He got him all the one.
Who is it?
Colin Chandler.
Oh, yeah.
I didn't even think about him.
Mormons and five.
That's the number, right?
I got you.
Well, you did.
That was pretty good, although he now knows Shannon the Jackson State roster.
Well, I mean, to be fair, you know, he's scouting the opponent.
You wouldn't scout your own team, so I understand.
Did you see what happened to Jay Leno?
Yes, yeah, I did.
Like, what?
I don't know if I believe his story, but go ahead.
All right, so, I mean, Jay Leno, this is now twice he's gotten beat up in the
He got beat up in his, like, house recently with a car.
There's something.
We got burned.
He got burned.
Okay.
So he apparently was in a suburb of Pittsburgh called Greensburg, Pennsylvania, which I've
actually been to.
I stayed in Greensburg one night.
He was at the Hampton Inn in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, which I find odd for a guy like that.
I mean, just, I mean, imagine you're just working at the Hampton Inn in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
and in walks in Jay Leno and says room for one.
I mean, it's a little strange, isn't it?
He's there for the continental breakfast.
Okay, but Jay Leno's there.
His claim was that he saw a 60 or 70 foot cliff outside of the Hampton Inn
that he thought he could walk down.
And then he slipped and fell 60 or 70 feet down the hill.
Now, here's my question.
The part of the story I don't understand is, why would he need to walk down a 60 or 70-foot cliff at a Hampton Inn?
Maybe there was a showney's next door.
He had to get there.
The venue he was performing at was a mile and a half away.
He was trying to take a shortcut, and that's when he ended up.
So he was just trying to walk to the venue from the Hampston Inn?
It seems like there would be an alternate route, then straight down a cliff.
Why is he performing in Greenberg, Pennsylvania?
That's a great question.
I will give him credit.
He still showed up for the show.
three hours later after falling down the cliff that night. Wow. Looking like a pirate.
I feel like something else is going on. I think he owes like a biker gang money or something
like that. That is possible. It doesn't make sense why he's at a Hampton Inn and why he's falling
down a cliff. I agree that I don't necessarily buy the story, but if you were going to lie,
why would you lie about falling down the hill at a Hampton Inn? Well, you show up with a beat-up face
wearing an eye patch like a pirate, and you have to have an explanation. And so you're like,
well, I tripped down this hill. I mean, I guess that's the best explanation. But it wouldn't be a
Hampton Inn if I'm worth half a billion dollars like Jay Leno. But he may have been really staying
at a Hampton. Maybe he was. Maybe he fell off that cliff, but I don't know. It's hard to buy.
I just can't imagine working the front desk at the Hampton Inn in Greensburg, Pennsylvania,
and in walks Jay Leno. You never know who might walk in. That's really straight. They must have a deal with that
comedy club. That's where all the comedians stay before they perform. But I'm,
sure they have Uber and Lyft in that city.
But it's weird to me he's performing at comedy clubs in Greensburg.
Like he, this dude was the host of the tonight show.
He's got to be worth $100 million.
He's on the backside of his career, I guess.
Now, you know, it's like when bands, you know, they play arenas.
And then on the backside of their career, they're playing at Little Bars.
They're playing at Leslie County High School, I guess, at the end of it.
All right.
Who's up next?
Red is up next.
Red.
Go ahead, Red.
Hey, what's up, guys?
I just wanted to make fun of you.
You're going out west instead of coming down to God's Clemsston.
I don't know what you're doing.
Well, I mean, I feel like I've been to Clemson.
Clemson, no offense to Clemson, not the most fun place in the world.
Never been to Oregon.
You know, I think it's a good, it's probably the right decision.
Well, if you guys need any content, let me know.
I got you.
Are you going to, you're going to the game?
I'm going, yeah, me and my dad, South Carolina is two biggest UK guys.
We're going to the game.
Yeah, well, I mean, make a lot of noise.
I actually think, and I appreciate the call.
I think it's a big game for Kentucky.
Billy, if you can get a true road win, this will be our only chance in the non-conference
to win a true road game, to win a road game against a team that's good, but not great.
They lost by 15 to Boise, so they're clearly not a great team.
Beat them on their home court.
You know, you lose to Gonzaga.
It's not going to hurt you in any, like, it's a, like, Gonzaga.
is only a positive.
But if you can beat Clemson, get that win,
I actually think that'll be a big win for him coming on March when seeding come.
Yeah, Clemson was pretty good last year.
If you get this win, you can look back as a serious resume builder.
And like you said, a test for these guys on the road.
You play a lot of home games early on in the year.
This will be a good test before you get into SEC play
to see what this group of guys can do in a hostile environment.
By the way, I went back and listened to the Mark Pope thing
talking about wearing suits.
He said that he, Mark Pope says he will wear a suit
Every game in Rupp Arena.
He said it doesn't feel right to him to walk into Rupp Arena in anything but a suit.
He said he has compromised with his staff that they can wear zips, quarter zips on the road.
He did, however, say when I walk into Madison Square Garden, I want to have respect.
I will wear a suit for that game as well.
I love it.
Respect for the venue.
Hallowed ground.
Rupp Rapparina is hallowed ground so you want to dress up, put your suit on.
Are you good with that?
Shannon's suits at home.
quarter zips on the road? I like that, but if he goes on the road and wears the quarter zip,
is he disrespect in the other team's arena at that point? Why would you wear a suit to Startville?
Not one person never wore a suit in that city their entire lives. Like, you should be able to wear a
quarter zip on the road. Madison Square Garden is the exception, though. It would be interesting,
though, like if we played at Duke, would he feel differently there? Would he feel like he needs to wear a suit?
Yeah, that's a quarter zip place for sure. That's a quarter zip place. All right. We'll take a break and be right back here to

These guys,
I saw some of the stuff earlier they do.
Looks nice.
Thank you very much for having us here.
We got a couple games this weekend.
Tell me who's going to win.
Let's start basketball tonight.
Duke is at Arizona tonight.
That's a tough game for them playing against Arizona.
Arizona just lost the other night to Wisconsin in an upset.
Does Duke, after losing to us, do they go turn it around against Arizona?
I'm still believe Duke is really, really good.
Even though it's at Arizona, I'm taking Duke in that game.
I think I'll take Duke as well.
I haven't really be honest with you.
I've seen much of Arizona, so I don't have anything to base that off up.
But when you've got a great player like Cooper Flag, I think you've got to go with Duke.
I'm taking Duke as well, bouncing off the lost us.
I think they're really good.
Listen, I'm excited we won that game, but you play that game out 10 times.
We probably don't win very often.
But just, you know, we didn't ask them for the lead until towards the end.
I'm going to say Duke wins that game.
I'm going Duke, too.
They're very talented until they show me otherwise.
I'm going to pick them for a lot of games.
Indiana and Ohio State.
Indiana is a 10-point underdog.
people Indiana fans understandably out of their minds excited I kind of think Ohio State
pounds them into the ground I think they win by three touchdowns at least in Lexington
you ain't going to see this game anyway so you might as well just guess what do you think
wake up call for Indiana Ohio State's going to run all over them the crazy thing is they'll
beat Purdue next week still just have one loss they may still get in the playoffs and they
maybe by 40 they probably are going to get the playoffs but I want to go on
record is saying if I'm the selection committee, and this is the choice they're probably
going to have to make, a two-loss Tennessee team versus a one-loss Indiana team, I'm taking
Tennessee because Tennessee's better.
Now, they'll probably take Indiana, but Indiana hasn't beaten anybody.
So if Indiana gets blown out in it, now if it's close, that's different to me because they're
playing a road game.
But if they get blown out, I would take a two-loss SEC team, Shannon, over a one-loss Indiana.
Because you know Tennessee played Indiana.
Tennessee would kill them.
They kill them.
So, you know, Indiana has been a great story so far this year, but I think tomorrow,
when they actually play some real competition, we're going to see them get beat.
Yeah, a game of the century for Indiana.
But you know what?
I think Ohio State takes this personally.
I don't think they let up even in the fourth quarter if they're up four scores.
So give me Ohio.
Lane Kiffin in an interview yesterday, Lane Kiffin said, you know what?
I don't, if it were me, a lot of coaches think we don't.
rather not make the SEC championship and not play in it so that if we lost, we might not make
the bracket.
So he was like, I'd rather see it be Texas and Georgia and we don't make it and then we still
make the playoff, then me make it and lose to Texas or Georgia, have three losses and
then not get in the playoff.
What's interesting?
That's an interesting take on it because to be SEC champion, I mean, he's just assuming
he's going to lose the game.
What if you go when you win the game?
You're SEC champion and you're in the playoffs.
I do think the playoff committee, like let's look at the SEC.
There might be six teams that end up with two losses.
Okay.
I think if Texas wins, if Texas beats A&M and us,
it'll be Texas and Georgia in the finals, right?
If Georgia were to lose that game, Shannon,
and they were to have three losses,
I think the committee has to decide,
do you want the SEC championship game
to be something that matters to people?
because if you do, then you can't punish Georgia for losing that game.
At which point, I think you have to let a three-loss Georgia team in
over a two-loss Old Miss or two-loss Tennessee team
because you want to make the SEC championship matter
and you kind of don't want to have what Lane Kiffin says be correct.
So I don't think you can punish the team that loses the SEC championship.
That's right. I mean, it's the best conference by far.
And if you make the title game, you should be good enough to play for the national championship.
I would think.
So it's just, it's really interesting on how they break down and who they choose for the
playoffs.
And I'm not trying to be rude to our football team, but Billy, if I'm having to choose between
Ole Miss and somebody else, Old Miss lost the worst game of anybody to us.
We're going to finish the SEC probably one and seven.
And our one is at their home field.
So if I'm Lane Kiffin, I don't think I can play.
If Georgia loses to Texas and Cheney,
championship game. They'll have three losses all to top 10 teams. Old Miss will have a loss to a one and seven Kentucky team. For me, that would keep them out. Yeah, it's unbelievable looking back all these weeks later how Kentucky got the win against that game. And now Old Miss looks like a team that could compete for a title. But, you know, this is interesting, all the different scenarios and looking ahead. I don't want to win this game so I don't play in the championship game. It's a little bit of a loser mindset. To me, that was a lame mindset by Lane Kiffin. Uh, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to,
to take that view.
859-2-8027, who's next?
Ryan is up next.
Ryan, go ahead, Ryan.
Hey, Matt.
Another game to think about tonight
as I'm heading down to Texas
just past Arkansas Arena.
The Rockets game,
I'm heading to the Rockets game tonight,
Texas-C Kentucky game tomorrow.
The Cup game, Reed Shepard,
who you got tonight?
Blazers and Rockets.
Yeah, I'll take the Rockets,
but, you know, Reed, Ryan, hasn't played a lot.
I mean, we talked about how Antonio Reeves had that huge, appreciate the call,
how Antonio Reeves had that huge 34-point game for the Pelicans.
Reed Sheper's been playing like six minutes a night.
He really hasn't gotten in.
And I think we're all surprised because he played so well in the G-League.
He was MVP of the G-League, summer invitational thing they had.
I think that they really thought he'd have more minutes than this.
But if he's playing behind.
It's a crowded back court.
Yeah.
They've got like four guys who are good above him in the back-course.
which is probably why he's not playing.
But, you know, I feel it's interesting.
People thought Reed could win rookie the year.
The number one pick has played great.
Yeah.
The number two pick has played pretty good.
And Reed's just not gotten in.
It's crazy, you know, if you were to say to me before the season started,
at this point of the season, who had the biggest breakout game between Dillingham,
Shepard?
You know, and Reeves, you probably wouldn't have picked Reeves.
He's the one that's had the breakout game so far.
It's weird, Billy.
When Reed and Rob both got picked, I thought, well, it's good.
They're on good teams.
That's good for them.
It's actually been kind of the opposite.
Neither one of them gets in the game.
Right.
Minnesota.
I mean, they were a title contender last year, and so he just, Rob hasn't seen the floor.
Rob hasn't seen the floor almost at all.
What is it about Reed?
Like, did they have somebody in front of them at his position?
Four guys ahead of him.
I mean, it's interesting because I thought he was going to play a lot.
And he's really not playing at all.
It's kind of stinks for him.
Who's up next?
Chris is next.
Chris, go ahead, Chris.
Hey, Matt.
You all were talking about Cal coming back for the Arkansas game.
And I know it's probably going to be a lot of mixed results or, you know, from the fans.
I'm thinking, what if it was just a silent indifference?
I feel like that would be.
But the problem is you can't make Twitter.
22,000 people be silent.
Like, somebody's going to say something.
I understand that.
So, I mean, I...
What if we get the movement, though?
Make the movement.
Yeah, somebody will be like, use it as their chance to yell something,
and you'll be able to hear it.
Like, you just, you can't...
Unless it's the national anthem or a prayer,
nobody stays silent.
For those are, like, the only two things that keep Americans silent.
I understand, but it would be powerful.
It would be. I appreciate...
So, at 22,000 booze.
We need to get that UK fan that was hanging over the rail at the SEC tournament.
Is this the gold standard, Cal?
There will be a good standard.
I'm sure we'll talk about this a lot between now and February 1st,
but there will be some moves.
Oh, yeah.
For me, what's going to be interesting is how many will there be?
I personally think if the game were tomorrow,
there wouldn't be all that many booze.
But there's a lot that can happen between now and February 1st.
And between now and February 1st, he may say something.
They may end up really good.
Maybe who knows.
I mean, we don't know what will happen.
Yeah, they could come in here with one or two losses in the conference.
We may only have one or two losses.
It may be a huge game for both teams.
He's definitely going to get booed in that situation.
The game before they play each other, Cal will go.
Who do we play next?
Where do we go?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Get ready for that.
I haven't looked at him.
And it is an interesting dynamic.
I mean, in the same segment,
we're talking about how much we're rooting for Rick Bettino at St. John
and how much we will not be rooting for Cal when he brings in Arkansas.
If we played St. John's on February 1,
Rick Petino would get a standing ovation.
He would.
And just imagine if we had said that a year.
That's crazy.
That Rick Petino would get a standing ovation, and John Caliperi might get booed out of the place.
That's crazy to think.
A year ago, that would have been absolutely insane, but that's where we are.
I kind of like it, though, that we love Rick Petino again.
You're right.
It's a bizarre world thinking about us during Brune.
It is.

So let's start.
Today, 430.
U.K. Jackson State.
Pre-game show live from K.S. Bar.
Come on out.
I think it's going to be a fun atmosphere there today and for the game at 7.
And if you go to the game, remember, come when it's over.
And when it's over, you can watch, you can come for a post-game dinner.
Tomorrow on Saturday, our pre-game show is 1230.
Three hours before the game, it will just be one hour.
You can watch the game there at the restaurant as well.
And then we'll do post-game afterwards, but that will be tomorrow.
Then next week, we will do shows Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday,
Thanksgiving, Tuesday and Wednesday at the bar. Monday we will not be. We're off Thursday and Friday,
but Kentucky plays basketball. Tuesday night against Western, Friday night against, who do they play
that week? I don't know. One game at Georgia State. That's exactly right. Friday night against Georgia
State. And then the Louisville game is Saturday at noon with an 8 a.m. pregame show, the Saturday
after Thanksgiving. That should be exciting. So a lot of UK sports, basically UK plays
five times, Ryan, in the next nine days.
So you do your post-game basketball show late Friday night,
and then we have to be on the air early Saturday morning for Kentucky pregame.
Billy and I'll finish about 1130 Friday night of next week,
and then back on the air at 8 a.m. on Saturday for the football game.
So Thanksgiving weekend, always pretty, always exciting.
By the way, this came up this week.
Somebody put online, Ryan, the video of.
of the Kentucky Middle Tennessee State football game from 2008,
which was a game that somehow I had completely erased from my memory until I saw it.
But I'd forgotten that was a Rich Brooks game,
where Middle Tennessee State threw a Hail Mary at the end of the game,
which they connected on.
Yes, they did.
We were up six, 20 to 14.
They connected on, and we tackled the Middle Tennessee State player on the one-yard line
right before he was scored.
It was almost the exact same thing as the LSU game,
except this time we stopped him on the one-yard line.
Do you remember that game?
I remember the game.
I can't remember the guy's name that made the tackle right now.
I'm trying to draw.
I saw the name.
It was a name I don't remember.
It was like a player who I have no,
it was maybe Harrison or something like that.
But yeah, it was not even the one-yard line.
It was like the half-yard line.
He was almost in the end zone to score the game-winning touchdown.
Middle Tennessee could have beat Kentucky at Kentucky that night.
Here's something interesting, though.
The quarterback that threw that pass for Middle Tennessee State is now John Sumerall's
offensive coordinator at Tulane.
Really?
And if there happened to be a coaching change at the end of the year, the guy who threw that
pass may very well be the offensive coordinator at Tucky if Sumerall were to become the coach.
But I had not seen that video I'd forgotten.
Rich Brooks, we all remember the LSU one.
It almost repeated itself.
Ryan, just like a half-yard line.
So refresh my memory.
What happened?
Did we kick a field goal to go ahead that set up in Halmerie?
It was 20 to 14, and Lona Seber had a field goal to put the game away with like 20 seconds left, and it got blocked.
Got blocked.
And they nearly ran the block back.
We stopped them from running the block back, and then they threw the Hail Mary.
So that was an old-time Kentucky football nearly blew it game from the archives.
Who's up next?
Jeff is up next.
Jeff, go ahead, Jeff.
I wanted to follow up on the Arkansas-Kentucky game.
I think we ought to, when Calgary comes out, either applause or if you're not going to applaud,
just be silent because he gave us 10 great years of the national championship.
He saved us over $30 million.
We got Mark Hill had the deal.
The first part of your statement is totally valid.
The second part of your statement,
He didn't save us anything.
He tried to save his job.
He wanted to get all of the money.
He did not do us.
He didn't sit there and go, this would be really good for Kentucky.
Let me see if I can save them $70 million.
He was trying to stay here.
It didn't work out.
He made a bad decision.
It blew up in his face.
But for reason one, cheering him or not doing anything is totally valid.
But reason two, he doesn't deserve credit for that because he was trying to stay here.
You know, Matt, your mom would tell you, you know, you can forget.
Let me tell you what my mom would say.
You don't want to talk to my mom about Cal after what happened that last year.
I'll just leave it at that.
Generally speaking, my mom would agree with you, but on this particular instance,
my mom has a lot stronger opinions that I do about it, and I'll just leave it at that.
But you can always forgive.
You can always forget the last five years.
I might be quicker to forgive than she will, and I'll just leave it on, leave it there.
I appreciate the call.
One thing about mothers, mothers will hold grudges about their children a lot longer than the children will.
I can see her out there, booing them.
I don't know if my mom would boo, but I can tell you she wouldn't clap.
Who's up next?
Everett is up next.
Everett. Go ahead, Everett.
Hey, Matt.
Why do they make it so hard?
to stream those Kentucky games.
Yeah, I'm sorry.
First of all, I don't have anything to do with it.
But, but Everett, I agree with you.
Like, I get it that the whole streaming thing is the future,
but I do think it stinks for Kentucky fans like you
that games like tonight are hard to watch
because they just are.
And they're especially hard for people who kind of don't, you know,
navigate the streaming.
world. This is the last one of those games, Everett, though, is this one. This is the last game that
will be, as I say, on the computer. All right. I'm sorry, Everett. Thank you. Appreciate it. I do hate it
for fans like that. I mean, there's a, you know, there's a lot of this state that does not have
high-speed internet or does not have connections to this kind of stuff, doesn't have the money to buy all these
extra packages. I understand that this is the future, but, but Ryan, there's a big part of me
whose heart is in the hollers, listening to the people who love the games, and they can't watch
them, and I do hate that. We all hate that, yeah, but it's the thing that, it's, it's, it's, it's not
going away. I mean, it's going to be this way from here on out. There's going to be games every
year that have to be on these separate channels. And one thing we are fortunate about with Kentucky
basketball is our conference games are not on it. Yeah. Some of these big 10 teams have like a third
to their conference games on Peacott now.
At least we don't have that.
This is a good sports bar night.
If you get a sports bar in your town, go out there.
They're likely to have it.
You can watch it there.
I'm just saying, yeah.
We'll have the Kentucky game, the Duke, Arizona game as well.
Let's quickly go through both of them.
UK, Texas.
Give me a score.
3810, Texas.
No.
3510, Texas.
41-7, Texas.
Wow, y'all are negative.
31 17 Texas Kentucky Jackson State
103 to 63
110 to 71
107 61
106 59
Kentucky puts it on one tonight
and absolutely pounds them
thank you to the folks here at a state
renovations we very much appreciate it
Ryan and the guys will be there at 430 for the pregame
listen to Billy on the post game and I will see you at 1230
for the football pregame tomorrow.
We appreciate seeing you guys.
Happy anniversary to you.

behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source
the athletes themselves.
Their locker room stories,
their reactions in the moment
and the stuff nobody gets to hear.
