Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome, everyone, Kentucky Sports Radio Monday.
November the 25th, I am Matt Jones.
It is a beautiful day.
Ready to rock after a big Kentucky weekend, Thanksgiving coming Thursday.
You can give a shout on the Clark's pumping shop phone line 859-280-2287.
A-Vision auto-glass text machine 7-72-7-4 in this edition, sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, you call
T.J. He'll make them pay. Ryan and Drew are in Lexington. Guys, big weekend. Had a basketball game Friday,
football game Saturday. UK volleyball wins its eighth straight title on Sunday. And now two games this week.
Louisville football game Saturday, big time in Kentucky Athletics.
Yeah, all of a sudden you look up and it's Louisville week for football and a week from tomorrow,
we've got the Clemson game for basketball and then Gonzaga, our trip.
I mean, it's all happening all once here.
Are you excited about the trip?
We're six days away from getting in that car, Ryan, and driving from Cincinnati, Ohio to Seattle, Washington.
How excited are you about that?
Well, I decided I'm going to do laundry today.
I'm going to get ahead of it because at the last minute, I'm sure I'm going to need something.
He didn't even answer the question.
He didn't answer.
How excited he starts talking about laundry is whites.
I don't care about your laundry.
You're not going to wear clean clothes anyway.
So my question is, are you excited about the trip?
I got to get my dogs taking care of.
You've got to get my parents make sure they're in.
Well, Drew, I know you're excited.
You're a man of adventure.
and you're ready to go.
Think about all the states we're going to see.
We're going to see Iowa.
We're going to see South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
I'm excited about all those.
I still have a fully zip suitcase from Texas that I have to unpack and like Ryan do some laundry.
But I'm fired up for that trip.
You know, I like the randomness.
I don't even really care about the destination as much as I do the random evenings in towns I'll never see again.
So I'm looking forward to it.
That's exactly.
See, that's the attitude to have, Ryan.
That's the attitude you want to have.
He doesn't care about where we're going.
He just wants to enjoy the trip.
First time, Mario's going to be west of the Mississippi River coming up.
I mean, that's got to be exciting, right?
The thing we say it all the time, the reason we do this,
because our shows we do on the road are some of my favorite shows we do all year.
It gets a little slap happy sometimes.
I think that's what makes for a good radio show.
So that's the fun part about doing it.
I agree.
Now, Drew, you were in Austin, Texas.
we know what happened in the game.
We'll talk about it.
But what about just being there and the atmosphere?
I mean, there were a lot of Kentucky fans in attendance, right?
Oh, my God.
I couldn't believe it.
I thought we were crazy because we flew out early Thursday trying to make a whole extra day out of it.
And I couldn't believe how many people were at the airport early Thursday morning.
When we got there, it didn't matter what restaurant or bar you were walking in.
There were UK fans everywhere.
It was like a big pep rally all the way up until kickoff.
And we'll get into that.
But I just, I don't go.
a lot of these road games. This is only my second time ever doing it, but I felt like that was a huge
showing by BBN. I mean, we were everywhere in that city. Yeah, I, what would you say like,
you know, that's a huge stadium? You're talking like, what would you say percentage of Kentucky fans?
We were a small dent. I think Ryan was just telling me in the TV broadcast, you could kind of see
that one corner of UK fans had two sections there. And then our group, they gave us like the top
30 rows Kentucky fans on the other side of the building.
So even though it felt like we were everywhere,
that place is so enormous.
It's almost hard to comprehend how big it was and just the scene around it.
It was so different than like an SEC school.
Like there's no tailgates.
You just go to bars and restaurants and they have like a fan zone that you go in.
It's not like we have here at Ole Miss or anywhere else where you walk around.
And people have setups.
It's almost like a pro event,
but there was just so many people.
Yeah, it is.
The campus up there is all kind of,
it's all not far from the stadium, and you're exactly right.
People just kind of hang out at the bars.
There really isn't a tailgate scene like at SEC schools.
Just kind of a different environment.
Well, let's start with the football.
I think that's going to be where most people's minds are.
Ryan, I mean, you know, they didn't get blown out.
I thought they were competitive most of the game,
but it was clear that Texas was better.
I actually think they got jobbed a little bit on some calls.
They could have been that would have made it, you know, a touchdown closer, but Texas was the better team.
I think the story coming out of the game is you put Cutter Bowley in in the second half.
He ends up throwing for almost 200 yards.
And there's no question.
The team had more of a spark.
The team had more energy.
You know, they just looks better.
And Cutter did not look like a deer in headlights.
came out, played tough. Nick Rouse reported that Matthew McConaughey came to Cutter after the
game and said, I like the way you play. That's got to be exciting. So I think the question coming
out of the game is really simple. Is this Cutter's team next week against Louisville? You know,
for every one of us that watched the game, we saw how much better the offense looked in the
second half when Cutter was quarterback. They just, they looked better. There seemed to be a better
tempo, they move the chains.
So going into the Louisville game, if you start Cutter, you're pretty much saying goodbye
to Brock.
Well, so that's, I mean, that's the decision.
That's the decision.
So two weeks, last week we were sitting here about the same time we had the conversation,
who would you start the last two games?
And my argument was you can beat Louisville, you want to be competitive against Texas,
you start the guy who's most able to do that.
and the answer is Brock.
That was my argument a week ago.
All right, so now we're down to one game.
And you're playing a Louisville team.
You're a three-point underdog, but you certainly can win that game.
And I still think you take the view that we're going to play the guy who gives us the best chance to win.
But Drew, you last week said play cutter, so I know what your opinion is going to be on this.
But I'm now to the point that I actually think it may be the case.
Cutter gives you a better chance to win.
And if you do, if you believe that, then you start Cutter.
But I do think it's important to understand that if you start Cutter,
you're probably saying to Brock, see ya.
Similarly, if you start Brock, after Cutter's had a good game,
there's a question of, does that mean you're saying see you to Cutter?
I mean, I feel like Mark Stoops, and he'll talk to the media today at noon,
I feel like whoever goes out there under center is your quarterback for next year,
And at that point, I think, Drew, doesn't it have to be Cutter Bowley?
Yeah, like you said, I wanted him the whole time in Austin.
And even when he came in, I know the play calling is a little different because they're so far behind
and they're having to, you know, dial up a little more passing than the usual.
But it almost seems like the play calling is a little more confident in Cutter too.
They were letting him work a little more.
And it could have been the deficit.
But he just, even though he's a freshman, I feel like he sees the field and it's a little more mobile than even Brock is.
And I trust him more coming into this week, honestly, and then be a little bit.
so much younger looking long term.
I'd rather a freshman that looks good
to have the keys than a guy with one year left who looks
very banged up. I mean, they nearly killed
him in that Tennessee game a few weeks ago.
So I worry about Brock's health
and I just think Cutter looks so much better right now.
I thought Cutter
looked really, really good. So let's just
vote. You're the
coach. You're starting.
Drew is clearly starting
Cutter. Ryan, who you start?
I'm like you. I think I flipped.
I think you. I think Cutter is your quarterback of the future.
I think he proved in one of the toughest environments and one of the best teams in the country, he held his own.
And I think you start him against Louisville.
And not only that, I think you're playing the whole game regardless what he does.
You can't start him and then make a change at halftime.
I think you're saying goodbye to Brock.
I think the Brock experiment didn't work because we thought it was going to, and I think we got to build to the future.
So I go with Brock.
So that's two votes.
Shannon, what about you?
Yeah.
I mean, if I'm being completely honest, I think the Brock Vandergriff tenure here.
has been disappointing.
It's been on a steady decline
as we've gone throughout the season.
If you're looking for the future
and I think Mark Stoops is,
you got to start Cutter.
I mean, because if you start Brock,
you bring them back next year,
what's changed?
You're going through the same cycle again
next year with a tougher schedule.
I think Cutter's your guy.
Yeah, I mean, I was leaning Cutter
and then I actually, after our post-game show,
I saw his post-game remarks
where he talked about the team.
And I would say,
he talked about the team like he's already the starter.
He talked about how we're building for the future.
We think we have something special.
He talked about it.
He talked like a guy who was going to start.
And I think you just have to do that.
You know, when they signed Brock, they signed him kind of under a two-year pledge.
And so there's that element that I think you still, I don't know what that means in the NIL world.
But you can't let that kid go, Drew.
you just can't cut her.
I mean, you can't, you can't lose that.
He went on the road against a team that's really, really good, a great defensive line,
and he made plays and moved the ball.
For me, that makes the decision at that point.
Yeah, and just adding to it, I mean, he's from right down the road.
We all have dreams that he'll be the next Kentucky kid that leads this team.
I like that him getting his first starts against Louisville because maybe he does
pull it off and we all get a little bit excited into the future with him and around him I hope they
can retain Wilcox hardly Gilmore Willie Rodriguez you got a couple young offensive linemen there's
there's some potential for a year or two down the road with that offense because they have a lot of
young talent this year that we've just seen little flashes of yeah Willie was the highest graded player
on the team uh on Saturday so then the second part of that is it is the coach you know I you've heard me
do my little spiel, Ryan, about if Mark Stoops believes he wants to be the coach, he's got to,
you know, he's got to commit to it, et cetera.
I, it feels like to me, Ryan, every week this fan base becomes more disgruntled with, with Stubbs.
And I just kind, and I, you tell me what you think, but I just kind of feel like Saturday is, is, is kind of a,
D-day for him. Like Saturday is, you know, I think he's got to win. And I think if he doesn't win,
it's got to be like a heartbreaking loss. I think anything but a game where we either win or
we're right there on the final play and you're going to start to see a fan base really turned.
I was shocked. We probably had three or four different callers on the post game show say to me
that they are season ticket holders who will not renew
if there's not a change at the top.
I mean, that's a pretty eye-opening thing, isn't it?
I think it's very eye-opening because he was our leader for Solent.
And I'm still in the boat.
I want him to be the coach, but he's got to want it.
And like you said, I think the decision is totally up to him.
If they have a blowout loss or they don't perform well
and his heart is not in it, I mean, he needs to step down
because he's got, like Drew said,
a lot of young guys that can help build the program up,
but you've got to be in it, totally in it.
And I don't know if he is right now.
So are we going to win, Drew?
Let's go.
I mean, we'll make our official predictions, I guess, probably,
well, I guess it'll be on the pregame show Saturday morning.
But let's just, where's your head right now?
Do you think we win our sixth straight against Louisville on Saturday?
Oddly I do.
I'm disappointed in the team just as much as anyone.
but Stoops just has a way of getting them fired up for the Louisville game.
I think there's a genuine hatred in that locker room for the Louisville Cardinals.
And even though they had a big win this past weekend that isn't helping my optimism,
I just feel like we're going to do it again.
I mean, last year you went into Louisville and you've got Barron Brown giving the L's down to somebody in the band,
then he takes a kickback.
I mean, they just get fired up for that game.
And if he does go with Bowley, I think he can give him a good shot,
which sounds crazy because they have been so disappointing this year,
but I still feel like Stoops will find a way to keep the Governor's Cup at home.
Shannon, are we beating Louisville?
Yes, I feel like Stoops is at his best when his backs against the wall.
I mean, you can go all the way back to early in his career when it was at the Mississippi State game
where we got a game-winning field goal and we had to have that one.
Otherwise, he may not be the coach the following season.
And Drew's right.
Something about that Louisville game where this team just turns into a completely different team
from what we've seen all season.
So I think Kentucky wins.
Ryan?
I thought Louisville was going to blow us out last year.
I mean, I really did.
I thought that was going to be an ugly game,
and Kentucky found a way to win at Louisville.
The fact that it's on at Krogerfield this time,
the fact that we've seen, if they go at Cutter,
we've seen backup quarterbacks kind of step up and shine in this game.
Who was it?
Justin Burke that one year, and then even Lamar.
I think Lamar made his coming out party against.
Will Stein came in one year.
It's always been on Louisville's side,
but they've always had, they have had backups come in and play us Lamar most famously, yes.
So if Cutter's our guy,
Let's ride the cutter train, and let's get that W on Saturday.
Yeah, I don't know, Shannon.
Well, Lillow did lose to a really bad Stanford team just two weeks ago.
Yeah, but they did just blow pit out, and they won it bad.
I don't know.
Come on.
I mean, by Saturday, I'm sure I'm going to pick them.
But if I had to pick today, I don't know.
It's in Lexington, too.
It is, but it's at noon.
He really got nothing to play for.
Stoops hates night games.
So he loves day games.
They're going to win.
I know, but there's just some vibes that I don't.
I'm a vibe guy.
And there's just some vibes I'm hearing that makes me, makes me a little nervous.

And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us

And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.

One person writes, Matt, just admit it.
You decided you didn't like Brock when he started running the commercials for milk on
your show.
And, by the way, that was not intentional.
I haven't heard them.
There's a broad.
Yeah, they run.
They run on this show.
They run on the game broadcast.
They run on television.
Brock does commercials, Drew, from milk.
And I don't think he was doing it before I said my line about milk a couple weeks ago.
No, I've seen those.
You're right.
They're everywhere.
And I've been meaning to look up the actual chain of events there.
Did we make fun of milk and then he made the commercial?
Or was he first and then we made fun of milk?
I think the commercial was taped before we made it.
But I don't think it started running until.
after my milk comment.
And now I hear that Brock milk thing all the time, Ryan,
and I do go, well, that wasn't what I thought would happen.
Yeah, bad timing for that campaign to start after you were kind of hard on milk,
kind of were there for a couple weeks.
Well, you know, I mean, what do you want me to say?
You had something you were going to ask, Shannon.
What was it?
Yeah, I mean, we went to that break there.
It was sort of ominous.
You're talking about the things that you've been hearing.
And I thought maybe, Ryan, we questioned.
what that was, but since he didn't, I will, what do you know?
What can you say?
What are you hearing?
I mean, I just think there's not great vibes around the team.
I think, you know, I talked about this a lot on the postgame show, and if you kind of care
about the future of the program, I went into a lot of detail in the first segment on the
post game show, but I, this next week, they're going to play on Saturday.
And then starting Sunday, really while we're driving to Seattle, from the, from the next week, they're going to
Seattle. From the Sunday we leave until you get to the next weekend and then even more so the
next week, it's going to be a wild season in college football. You're going to have the transfer
portal. You're going to have signing day, coaches making decisions. And I'm just hearing
a lot of stuff that concerns me about the future of who's going to be here and who's not.
I mean, I think, you know, sometimes kids will say they're not going to be here and they end up staying and then sometimes kids think they'll stay and they don't.
But like I just, Ryan, I just feel like there's a world.
This would be the world that I think would be the most negative.
A world where you're bringing, I mean, think about a world where Stoops comes back, but you were to lose Brad White and you were to lose some of your most talented players to the portal.
And then you're trying to come back next year and get people.
excited and that's going to be very hard to do and I just I just don't like the
vibes I'm hearing not that the people players aren't getting along but just what
may happen here in a week or two and if everyone knows that I think it's going to
be hard to get focused to play that game Saturday against Louisville I think
you're right and if they don't they don't win or they get blown out that's going to
carry into the office there's no extra month of practice for us to get ready for a
ball game anymore. This is it.
But I've just heard a lot of people
who were kind of thinking
that this may be it.
And if that's the case, Drew, and again, you never
know. But if that's the case,
how do you rally the troops and get everybody
in there to beat Louisville in the most
important rivalry game of the year?
That's another reason
I would go to Cutter because maybe going
to him could inject a little life.
Maybe other guys on the team will think, hey,
we're making a change. Let's be at our best.
for him. Maybe handing over the keys to him can re-inject some things. But just that and the hatred
for Louisville, the only thing is giving me hope. Because from an actual football standpoint, how this
game, how this season has gone so far, it's been disappointing. And you really wouldn't pick
them to beat many teams, especially one that just beat Pitt by 30. But maybe given Cutter the
keys to the ship will give them life for one more week. So I hope I'm wrong. But, you know,
just to give you an example, I mean, this is just a fact. So Drew and Ryan,
and Shannon and Mario and I will be in a car starting Sunday.
And basically I told everyone that works at the website, like, no vacations, Shannon,
no time, like next week, no time off.
Like just assume that it could be like a circus next week.
Right.
And I think it could.
I'm not saying it will, but I think it could.
I think there could be a lot of stuff going on back to back to back to back.
And, you know, I just don't know how the program.
how it will look, Shannon, coming out on the other side of that.
I just hope that the entire program doesn't fall apart with our coaches,
assistant coaches, transfer portal.
I mean, you're right.
It has the potential for this team to be completely different next season.
If we lose our head coach and quarterback, you know, we haven't.
I mean, we're not playing in a bowl.
We haven't, we haven't not played in a bowl in eight years.
In December, normally you're doing bowl practice, Ryan,
And that keeps your team together, right?
Everyone is in one place.
Now, that's gone now.
So during this transfer portal season, you used to have this sort of, this thing that kept your guys there and kept them connected.
Well, we don't have that now.
So as these guys are deciding what to do, they don't have to go look at their teammates in practice the next day.
They can just, like, be of themselves and go away.
And that worries me.
We've not had that situation in a long time.
That's a great concern to have because you're right, man.
These guys, the last two seasons have kind of been disappointing,
but a win over Louisville and then the December practices,
everything kind of flipped the last couple of years in December
when they were practicing and getting ready for a bowl game,
bringing in, you know, get some commitments, get some transfer guys to commit.
That may all disappear now this year if they don't, they can't win this game on Saturday.
Yeah, who's up next, Shannon?
Let's go to Hayes.
Hayes, go ahead, Hayes.
Hey, first time, long time.
Who?
So I was down there at the game.
First off, I thought Drew would mention it,
but there was a serial killer on the loose in Austin,
which was a different dynamic we weren't expecting there.
And I say that because I'm going to come back to that.
What do you mean there was a serial killer?
There's a serial killer on the loose and Austin.
That was kind of like the buzz the whole time we were down there.
No drinker.
The rainy cereal killer.
Did you know that, Drew?
That's the first I've heard of it, but I was feeling no pain in Texas,
so serial killer was not one of my issues.
I did not know that.
Well, I'm going to come back to the serial killer because I think I have a lead there.
All right.
We don't have that long.
This can't be a six-part story.
Go ahead.
At the game, I thought of you, because, you know, it's really steep in the upper level,
and we were kind of where Drew was.
And, you know, there's no seat back to the bleachers.
So you're sitting on the bleachers, and there was this woman in front of us,
and she was a normal-sized woman,
but she was sitting really far back
and kind of kept, like, falling into us.
So after about three-quarters,
we're like, all right, ladies,
you got to quit falling into her.
And she was a cat's fan.
It was the only...
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J., he'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio
presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
You know, that guy had a...
He said he had a lead on the serial killer,
but then he just let it go.
You know, I might lead.
I'm talking about a woman like leaning back in her chair.
You know, if I had a lead on a serial killer, I might lead with that.
That might be more important than a person just leaning back to me.
He didn't think so.
He was, he was done.
He wanted to talk about that.
The more important thing.
Let me ask you a question.
Drew, I have a friend and you're friends with this person, too.
It's a woman who, after every UK football game on Sunday, she calls the SEC office and leaves
a message with all the calls that were missed in the Kentucky game.
Nice.
She does it every Sunday.
I'm not going to say who she is, but she's someone that all of us, I think Shannon may not,
but I know Ryan Drew, you all know her.
Is that what, is that normal behavior you think to call?
And like she'll have the time on the clock and the call missed and she will leave it at
the office.
Do you like that?
First, I wouldn't call it normal, but I will say I like that.
I like the passion.
We need somebody to do it.
I mean, Stoop's isn't allowed to comment or he gets fined.
We need to apply any pressure we can get when they're calls that need to be called out.
So, yeah, even though I wouldn't call it normal, I am supportive of whoever this is and what she does every Sunday.
Ryan, do you like that?
That's some dedication that we think we need from everybody to do something like that, to keep track of the calls and then calling the SEC office the next morning.
I think that's a beautiful thing.
One person writes, Matt, my grandkids and I watched Paddington.
two this weekend.
We thoroughly enjoyed it, and I want to thank you.
It is one of the best movies I've ever seen.
There you go, Shannon.
See, Patty.
Yeah, I watched the first 20 minutes of it.
It didn't change my life.
Like you said, that one person said, oh, it's a life-changing movie.
Didn't do it for me.
I don't know.
You didn't get to the end of it.
The part where your life changes is towards the end of it.
Okay.
Well, I'll tell you what, I will watch that while we're on our trip.
And if my life changes somewhere between here and Seattle, Washington, I'll let you know.
Yeah, I'll let you know.
Well, another person writes, Matt, I watch Paddington, too.
I'm not sure a 55-year-old single male is who is supposed to be watching this.
I don't think my life changed.
That's more you, Shannon.
Yeah.
You're more of that response.
I don't think that you and I are necessarily the demo, but maybe older people, maybe somebody with kids.
I think it's more of the kids, but I'm just saying people say it's really good.
That's all I'm saying.
I'm not, you know, you can, you can try it.
I'll tell you what people didn't like, Ryan.
and that was Fox 56's decision not to play the Ohio State Indiana game.
That, first of all, if you'd been listening to this show, Ryan, I warned everybody, right?
Yep.
You know, everybody acted surprise.
I warned everyone what was coming because when I heard about it, I knew it was going to raise an uproar.
But it raised a lot bigger uproar than people thought.
They decided not to show Ohio State Indiana and instead showed a boys' engagement.
girls high school preseason game. It was great crossing and George Rogers Clark boys and then
girls. They ran it on Fox 56 instead of Ohio State Indiana and the city collectively lost its mind.
Shannon, if you want to laugh, go to Fox, go to Twitter, put in Fox 56 news and just look at the
comments from the last two or three days. I'm on it right now. People losing their minds.
We had it at the bar, right?
I think over the course of the day,
more and more Ohio State and Indiana fans
just found their way into the bar
because it was the only way they could watch it.
Yeah, we had a good crowd of Indiana fans
and Ohio State fans here,
so they were ready to watch the game,
and then when it wasn't on,
it was a high school basketball game,
they were a little upset to start with.
But how about the fact that on the Fox 56 website,
if you went to it,
they had their weekend weather guy photo of him up,
and that's who people associated with what was going on
was the weekend weather guy.
So, Drew, you weren't here for this.
unfortunately, poor guy, whoever the weekend weather guy is, he got all the blank.
People just found him on Twitter and started yelling at him as if it was his decision because
Ryan's right. He made the mistake of posting. So if you went to the Fox 56 Twitter account,
the first post was one about him, was one of him. And then on the website was his picture.
So everyone just wrote him and act like it was his decision. He had a,
an awful Saturday.
It just, I'm sure they had that scheduled a long time ago, but it ended up just kind of
blowing up in their face.
Yeah, I was in another part of the country.
And even I felt the anger from Lexington getting on Twitter or people were just bringing
it up at bars after our game about, you heard what they did back home?
So it was, it even made it all the way to Texas how upset people were around here that they
didn't make the right call up the game.
It was on national websites.
Was it?
They were on national websites, Ryan, making, like,
commenting on the fact that Ohio State, Indiana wasn't on for a preseason high school basketball game.
It was just one of the biggest college football games of the year.
Everybody talked about it all week long.
With two states that we border.
Like two states we border it's not like, you know, it's not like it was UCLA Washington.
It was two states around we border.
Yeah, not the best decision by Fox 56.
And it's one that's going to, we're going to remember for a long time because the fans in here that were ready to
watch the game. We're not happy when that high school basketball game came on.
You type in Fox 56 on Twitter, the second tweet.
Fox 56 is going straight to hell.
I like that.
Well, we ended up getting it at the bar, right?
We played it on the computer.
Yeah, and we had it even on the big screen that it was 90% effective, I think, most of the game.
And people got to watch Ohio State kick Indiana's butt.
Yeah, Indiana, exactly what I thought would happen, happened.
But let me ask you, though, Drew, let's say you're in charge of the TV station.
You have this set because you think it's going to be a football game that doesn't matter.
And then they switch it to Ohio State, Indiana.
But you've already got all these high school kids excited that you're coming to film them,
and they're going to be on TV.
Are you just telling the high school kids, sorry, like you're just going to have to eat it?
Yep, sorry about that.
We'll try to add you another game later in the year.
I think they have to recognize that people are going to be so angry.
You're kind of making the high school kids villains here.
Like no one wants to watch them.
And, you know, no one's going to be bashing a high school kid on Twitter,
but you're putting them in a bad spot knowing nobody wants to see that except their parents.
That's another person I felt sorry for a rhyme was the reporter assigned to the game.
He would send out messages from the game and people would just be like,
you're the worst.
Why is this on?
Again, like it was his fault.
I just felt bad for all of them.
You know, in this day and age, all these stations have alternate channels.
I don't understand why they didn't put that high school game on one of their alternate channels
and then play the Ohio State Indiana football game on their main channel.
I don't know.
Why can't we make them the computer game?
We get all these computer games for Kentucky basketball.
Can't even get the game on TV, but yet we were forced to watch this.
And it wasn't even a real game.
It was a scrimmage.
They're high schoolers.
They know how to get on the computer.
Us old people don't even know how to log in.
put their game on the computer.
Unbelievable.
But not the best decision from Fox 56.
Who's next shit?
Bluegrass.
Bluegrass.
Go ahead.
Hey, I have to go on, Matt.
I want to say, how proud are you a Billy in the post game from Jackson State game?
Are you such a proud father?
I didn't hear it.
Did he do a good job?
Yes, he did.
Oh, he was really good.
He actually listens.
He actually listens.
You hear that?
listens to our take, has a comment about it. Oh, it was great. Yeah, but Bluegrass, I like you,
and I'll listen to some of your takes, but I don't need to listen to the whole thing, like some of it's fine.
Well, I got a question for you. This is a little scenario, you were talking about traveling.
We traveled to a home for Thanksgiving. That's a Cal Perry home. I mean, they absolutely love Cal.
So how do I go about this Polk Cow conversation with and still get to eat this day?
Well, I would tell you, if they still want Cal after all that's happened, then they've lost their minds.
I mean, if they watch the beginning of this season, Saw us beat Duke, they've watched the results Cal's had at Arkansas, and they still think it was a mistake for that change to make, then you're dealing with irrational people and you just eat your turkey, shut up and get out of there.
All right.
I appreciate, fellas.
Appreciate it.
I don't know.
Drew, I don't understand how today you could see.
still be a Cal person. Do you? I mean, you can still think fondly of what he did here, but I think if
you're just watching results and kind of a slow decline and how successful he's been. Yeah, I mean,
it's pretty evident things have changed around him. Is there anyone in Kentucky, Ryan, who you think
still wishes it was Cal instead of Pope? I personally don't know of anybody. I guess that guy knows
somebody he's going to have Thanksgiving with, but yeah, just, especially with what Pope and UK has done so far this
season. How could you not be excited about that? I mean, Shannon, the people on social media that were
the most pro-cowl, that were the, you know, you all that want cow gone are treasonous, all that,
they're now all in on Pope. They flipped like as quickly as you can flip. And now they're
equally as angry if anyone ever criticizes Pope. Like, I don't know anyone out that has flipped
on the idea that it was the right time for this to happen.
I'm sure there's someone out there, right, who just loves Cali Perry for whatever reason.
But there's nothing that you can be negative about Mark Pope about so far.
I mean, he's been about as close to perfect as you can be.
So I don't know why you would still not want him.
Yeah, I can't.
I don't know what it would be that you, I guess what I would say is what is it you would want that he hasn't already done.
Like what would you ask for?
I can't even think of what it would be what it would be.
Who's next?
Sean from Austin.
Sean got about a minute.
Go ahead.
Sean.
Hey, I can't hear them.
All right.
Sorry, Sean.
We'll come back.
Let's try Alex.
Alex, go ahead, Alex.
Morning, man, real quick, because I don't have a lot of time.
I'm going to say I think this game this weekend is huge for the future of the program.
I think, one, depending on who you start, sends a message on, are we going young,
are we going to run it back?
And it also pushes some players out because they think they know we're going young.
and two, unlike last year where a win against Louisville
kind of saves stoops in the eyes of the family base,
I don't think a win saves him,
but I do think a loss really, really, really sends a lot of negativity
up the fan base and borderline toxicity for next year.
I totally agree with that second statement.
I think that's what makes it hard.
I appreciate the call.
I don't think a win saves him.
I think it did that last year,
and I think a loss just makes things really toxic.
It's a very tough situation.

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker whops up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about
defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a
level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night bases on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers,
why he got the ball, like,
After you go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Welcome back, Tegi Sports Radio.
Shannon, my favorite weekend, moment of the weekend was the Arizona State BYU game,
where Arizona State looks like they're going to win.
and then the crowd storms the field, but there's still a second left.
One second left.
One second left.
So they basically try to get them all to leave the field.
They can't, so they all stand on the sidelines, all the students for the final play.
Like literally they surround the field with students, and then they do the play again,
and it doesn't work, and they storm the field the second time.
But I have two questions about the end of that game.
First of all, Drew, how in the world is it the case?
that you, that they didn't have a penalty for the, for the fans storming the field.
How is that not a 15-yard penalty?
They delayed the game for 15 minutes, Drew.
How's that not a penalty?
It should have been several penalties.
They should have created a penalty to give them.
I mean, if you have a coach or someone take too many steps onto the field during the game,
it's a penalty.
But if your whole crowd rushes and storms the field, that's not a penalty.
That was a pretty absurd plot twist and a very absurd ending to that.
game. I mean, why wouldn't fans just do that all the time, right? If you can, if you can storm the field
with no ramifications, should that not have been, should be why you not have been 15 yards closer
on that last play? Delay of game. Yes, they absolutely should have got a flag in a 15 yard penalty. There's
no question about it. Should have been aggravated delay of game. Yeah, 45 yards. Even the play
before that, it was a throw into the stands, Shannon. They threw the ball six rows.
into the stands. How's that not intentional grounding? How's it not? I mean, he didn't leave the
pocket. He just takes it and throws it into the stands. That's got to be intentional grounding,
doesn't it? I would have thought so when I was watching it. I think now we know if we just don't
like a call, we can all just run onto the field and there's nothing that's going to happen.
There's nothing that's going to happen. You can't arrest 50,000 people. You know, everybody just.
The second thing that I couldn't believe was was the coach losing his mind. Ryan, did you see that?
I did see it. Yep.
So they're looking at the little monitor to see if there's extra time.
The coach is standing there, and I don't know this coach.
I think his name is Dillingham, but the coach is absolutely going crazy,
screaming that there's no way there can be a second left.
Now, Ryan, I have no idea how he could have known that.
He's not looking at the monitor.
There's no way for him to know.
If you look at the monitor, there clearly was a second left.
He's going nuts, and his wife is sitting there with a.
a smile. She looks like a, like she's going, like he is losing his mind and his wife is just sitting
there smiling like a Stepford wife. The whole thing was hilarious to me. I don't know who that guy is,
but I wouldn't want to get on his bad side, I don't think. No flag on him either, you know,
going crazy like that to the officials. They don't let let that go. But probably an assistant coach was
talking in his ear, saw it up in the booth telling him, hey man, there's still one second. That's all he
needed to hear. That's all he needed to go with.
I thought Dillingham was going to murder that ref. He looked like he had no control of his
emotions. I thought he was actually going to hit him. I'm totally agree with you. I have never
seen a coach that looked that out of control to me. And no one was trying to hold him back.
Shannon, they were just letting him go insane on this referee. I don't know how that wasn't a
penalty. If they're sort of basketball game, coach gets teed up. They probably do another technical
foul on the crowd for rushing the court. And somehow everybody,
just got off Scott free in this football game.
I don't understand how there wasn't a penalty for throwing in the stands,
for running on the field, or for that dude losing his mind.
I mean, those were, again, I go back to the culture of these games.
If a basketball coach yells like that, penalty.
But we let football coaches basically Drew just go insane on referees,
and you never see a penalty for that.
No, like you said, that was one of the craziest I've ever seen how mad he was.
He had his wife standing right next.
to him. She's kind of looking at them like, are you going to calm
down or is this going to be an issue?
It's like she knew
she had the rest of the night to have to deal with that
dude. But they ended up winning
and it didn't matter, but it was a wild
wild scene. Who's up next?
Let's try Sean from Austin again.
Sean, go ahead, Sean.
Yeah, hey guys, I was out the game.
Two things. The Kentucky fans
they were kind of sprinkled all
around the stadium. So it was
awesome to see that. They were fantastic.
and I spoke with people to my left on my right that were Kentucky fans there.
And just from us, from up in the nosebleed seats, you know, with Cutter in the game,
it just felt like Kentucky was just a more engaged and active team moving to football.
So, I mean, even the people that we're talking to, they all agreed that were Kentucky.
And the second thing, again, with Stoops is, you know, I said about a month ago that,
you know, that leadership is gone and like the sauce is gone.
You can't put that toothpaste back in the tube.
So again, I was talking with the fans to the left and right of me from Kentucky about that.
And they're pretty much done.
Their patience has worn out on that.
So I still love the cats, even though I'm here in Austin, and I love KSR, and I love you guys.
So thank you guys.
Appreciate it.
Yeah, I mean, it may be the case that there's a group of people that if they don't play cutter, you know, you lose their support.
I don't know.
I think I just if you if you kind of get a sense like I said of the vibes around the program
I think the best way to fix the vibes is to is to make a change at least at the
quarterback position and then ask me again after the game Saturday because I think there's
I just don't like what I'm hearing behind the scenes I don't like what I'm hearing about
discipline I don't like what I'm hearing about work in practice I just
I think a lot of the things that were the foundation of Mark Stoop's teams are not happening right now,
and it's very, very disappointing to me, and not necessarily make me very optimistic for the future.
Who's next?
Doug.
Doug, go ahead, Doug.
Got about a minute.
Okay, my take on the coaching situation with football team is probably not going to be real popular,
but I think any thought of Mark Stoop's being on the hot stage is absolutely ridiculous.
I know we haven't met expectations the last two years,
but we didn't have those expectations until Mark Stubes got here.
So we can go back to what it was before.
I mean, I don't think that's ridiculous.
There's a lot of people I think that think like you do.
Well, I'm pro-Marx Stoops, and I'm also other than when they've played,
Kentucky. I'm going to be pro
John Cala Perry.
Okay. Well, that's not
don't get crazy.
Let's do. Let's do.
You know, you need to, you had
me for a minute. You can't go that far.
Come on. All right. We'll take
a break. We'll come back. Hour number two.
